- 1:48SPEAKER_01: That's what I do.
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: That's what I do.
- 1:49SPEAKER_01: So follow his personal accounts tonight.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: Kind of you should do that too.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: This is also just kind of a week week, like week week, W E A K, W E E K, in terms of great games.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: This is a great, great week to go to a game.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: Um, because you know you're not gonna miss a lot of other stuff.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: But before we do that, I got a couple updates myself.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: Um, I made the switch finally.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: I've been talking about it for ages.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: I canceled my Xfinity and I got YouTube TV.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: I returned the cable box to Xfinity.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: Welcome to 2024.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, boy, 2020, 20 or 19 or 18.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: I think I'm way behind.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: I got YouTube TV, I got the quad box this weekend, which is just absolutely phenomenal.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: And I I did the little demo and I saw I got like a five-day free trial, and I had it this past Saturday for couch football Saturday.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: I was like, oh, this is absolutely it.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: I'm never going back.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: This is what I want for every college football viewing experience for the rest of my life.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: So I immediately call Xfinity the next day, canceled it, and I've not looked back five days into my new YouTube TV experience.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: Congratulations.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: That's I thank you.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: Appreciate that.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: Are you are you what are you doing?
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: Are you streaming these days?
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: What's your view?
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we're Hulu.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: We're Hulu.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: All right, Kaler, Kaylear.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: We're pretty happy with it.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: Um, you have Hulu TV, Hulu Live, whatever that is.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: Nice, nice.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: Um solid.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: It's solid.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: Uh I mean, now that it's streaming, now that I have a cable box remote, I feel like I can just change it anytime I want.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: I don't have to really think that much about it.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: So, like, I'm not signing contracts.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: So if if I don't like YouTube TV, I can just, you know, hit cancel, jump over and have a cable guy come out to my house, like any of that nonsense, all that 2010 stuff, all that early 2000s, this stuff is over.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: I am streaming now.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: I am officially a cord cutter.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: I'm the oldest.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: Happy to do it.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: Shamelessly plugging all these services.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: Not a sponsor, could be give us your money, YouTube TV, please.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: Um, but before we uh jump into uh what we're gonna so what we're gonna do today is we're gonna talk about last week a little bit, talk about what's happening this weekend a little bit.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: Before I do that, I've got a major bone to pick with you.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: I'm very upset with you, Mike.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: Give us a giveaway.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: Two weeks ago, I nailed it with the greatest take I've had of the 24 and 24 season.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: Maybe the best take I'll have all year with the Florida State pick.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: Hand line to half under, the sound bite is there.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: I said all the right things.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: I was great.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: I was one of the best takes I've had in a while.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: I hit that one right on the head.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: We were closing out last show.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: We were at the very end of the show, and you said, you said, oh Mike, Mike, tell them tell them what you think about the Florida State pick.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: And then you let me open my big mouth and ramble for, I don't know, a solid two minutes about how I was so sure Florida State was gonna was gonna win by 17.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: They were gonna cover.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: I told everyone to bet it.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: I had my Florida State pick nailed.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: I was right, and you forced me to open my big mouth and make the terrible, terrible Florida State take.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: And now I talked, I got both picks.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: I said they were awful, so they were great.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: And I'm one and one, and I was one and oh, I had a perfect thousand record on Florida State, and you screwed me.
- 4:36SPEAKER_01: It's my fault.
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: I gave you some ropes and you put it around your neck.
- 4:40SPEAKER_01: My mouth.
- 4:40SPEAKER_01: To be fair, you had already made that bet, and you had already talked about the bet to everyone who would listen.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: So in a way, you had already dug your own grave.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: It's your fault that I opened my big mouth and made a terrible Florida State take, and I already had the perfect Florida State take that would have aged even better this week if I just get my mouth shaken.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: Here's the thing.
- 4:58SPEAKER_01: Here's the thing go ahead.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: And I feel like I'm letting the cat out of the bag, showing how the sausage is made a little bit, but I'm just gonna go ahead and say this.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: We are not experts.
- 5:10SPEAKER_01: What?
- 5:11SPEAKER_01: Go on.
- 5:11SPEAKER_01: We are not college football experts.
- 5:13SPEAKER_01: We are speak for yourself, average Joes who love college football.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: So we're allowed to be wrong.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: We're allowed sure.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: We're allowed to be wrong.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: And the experts are wrong all the time, too.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: So not a big deal.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: Um experts were wrong about Florida State.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: They sure were.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: In fact, have you seen their live total?
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: So now you go on like FanDuel or whatever, DraftKings, you can see their live total.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: It's down to five and a half.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: They're saying they might not even make a bowl anymore.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: Good God.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: So the bottom to get those kids to buy in.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: I mean, yeah, it's a lot of, it's a lot of transfers, it's a lot of just guys that aren't gonna maybe not commit this, maybe not buy in, maybe not maybe not believers, they're not developing talent, bad transfer class.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: I mean, what are you gonna do?
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: With that, let's go ahead and jump into the action.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: So, this is cloud.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: What we're gonna do for our kind of look back is we're gonna call this the overreaction show.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: The classic, like cliche shtick of college football is like week one happens, these big games, everyone's like, oh my God, biggest jump.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: Every there, they are so great, they look so well, they're awesome.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: This is the best team, or they lose, and you're like, oh my god, they're terrible, left for dead, leave them in the grave, look forward to 2025, it's over.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: Happens all over media all the time.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: Classic overreaction.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: Teams improve the most they will all year, week one to week two.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: That's just the way it is.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: But Mike and I are gonna ignore that and we're going to double down.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: This is called the overreaction show.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: So for every show though, every game that we talk about today, we Mike and I are either going to build up the winner and tell you about how great they are or tear down the loser.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: Um, how bad you can do both, but you have to pick one.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: No hedging the winner, no hedging the loser.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: Don't tell me they're gonna get better.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: Don't tell me they're a fool's goal because they won.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: Tell me how great they are, tell me how much they suck.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: Overreaction show, week one starts now.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: I'll start with Thursday.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: Thursday, Colorado took on NC State.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: Um, I got uh I was not NC State, North Dakota State.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: North Dakota State's pretty good.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: They probably should have beat them.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: Uh I'm I'm gonna give go ahead and give North Dakota State their flowers.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: I don't think I don't think Colorado's very good.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: So I'm more bullish on North Dakota State.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: They're gonna win a lot of games this year at the FCS level for sure.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: Uh Colorado is not good.
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: Any anyway, Colorado sucks, and we're gonna we're gonna see them suck again this week.
- 7:16SPEAKER_01: And Deion Train is going to be completely derailed by midseason.
- 7:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: Um, they've got again like two stars.
- 7:24SPEAKER_01: Well, three if you count horn.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, everybody else is very average, and those guys can only carry them so far, especially when they're playing like a billion snaps.
- 7:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, not good.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the likelihood of Travis Hunter, who's a phenomenal player, might you might you could be arguing might be the best college football player in college football this year, playing both ways.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: He played every snap but three I read on Twitter, which is just outrageous.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: Um, if he can stay on the field for the entire season, that's like the race, that's like running an Iron Man three times in a row.
- 7:53SPEAKER_01: Here's the thing about that.
- 7:55SPEAKER_01: All right, this is the me first NIL era of college football.
- 8:00SPEAKER_01: This is the era where you've got star running backs happy to share the load and be a two, even three back system because there's you know, they know that if they perform, they're gonna get their shot in the NFL and they want to save the tread on the tires.
- 8:15SPEAKER_01: Why in the world is a guy like Travis Hunter allowing himself to be put through this ordeal?
- 8:24SPEAKER_01: Like it just doesn't make sense from like a personal, like my future standpoint.
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: Who was the Pittsburgh Steelers running back who was really good?
- 8:31SPEAKER_00: He was really good at delay, and he um he was like he played with Antonio Brown, but he was in the backfield.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: He's really, really good.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: Jerome Bettis?
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: Not Jerome Bettis, who played the same time as Antonio Brown, he's really awesome, like a fantasy superstar.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: He's now out of the league.
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: Um, he was he had such a good run.
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: He tried what he tried to say in his contract deal is he was like, I want running back one money and wide receiver two money together because he said that's what his name's gonna escape.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: Someone's listening to podcasts right now, it's it's so-and-so you guys ward.
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: Oh, well, I'm I'll look at what later.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: Anyway, I'm just saying Pittsburgh names at this point.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: Cindy Crown.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: Come on.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: He commanded he tried to command so much money and it didn't work out for him.
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: So even if like you could make the arguments, I guess they're different, they're on different sides of be sides of the ball.
- 9:11SPEAKER_00: So you're on the field for more snaps, you're getting more production out of Travis Hunter.
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: I just don't think the human condition can support that kind of workload at the NFL level.
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: I'm not sure he can do it at Colorado.
- 9:21SPEAKER_00: So he was injured last year for three games.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: We'll see if he can do it for 12.
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: I just hope he's just picks a side, becomes really, really good at it.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: Quite frankly, he's already really, really good.
- 9:28SPEAKER_00: Either one, just pick on one, focus on one, be a first rounder, go make a millions, don't do anything crazy, Travis.
- 9:33SPEAKER_01: That's I mean, yeah.
- 9:34SPEAKER_01: I mean, he's gotten you never want anybody to get hurt.
- 9:36SPEAKER_01: Um, but like this is the prime example of like if he gets hurt, everyone's gonna.
- 9:41SPEAKER_01: I mean, I told you so.
- 9:42SPEAKER_01: Like, Dion, what are you doing?
- 9:44SPEAKER_00: If he isn't playing another snap tomorrow, I think you and I both agree he's probably a lock for a top 10, probably top five pick.
- 9:49SPEAKER_00: So he's already established that you're already there.
- 9:53SPEAKER_00: But you know, we're being too reasonable.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: Let's get back to being irrational.
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: So, anyway, good luck, Travis.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: Play the rest of the year, carry Kalby 12-0.
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: On like a five-win team playing a thousand snaps.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: Good job.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: Uh, Anthony Koldnicky, outstanding higher.
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: Anthony Koldnicky is a new um how is a new offensive coordinator at Penn State.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: They play West Virginia, they pretty much handled them.
- 10:11SPEAKER_00: I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna poop on uh West Virginia because they're just overmatched, they did the best they could, they're gonna compete in every Big 12 game they would.
- 10:19SPEAKER_00: Penn State is just that good.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: I think Penn State is a legitimate top three team in the Big Ten, maybe top four.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: This offense looked awesome.
- 10:25SPEAKER_00: I thought Harrison Wallace, the third, was an outstanding playmaker on the outside.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: Drew Alar clearly unlocked something.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: This offensive coordinator hire might be the delta that James Franklin really needs.
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: And at least through week one in Morgantown against a decent Big 12 team, they certainly looked apart.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: So I am way bullish overreacting on Penn State's optimism.
- 10:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's fine.
- 10:43SPEAKER_01: You can overreact.
- 10:44SPEAKER_01: West Virginia sucks.
- 10:45SPEAKER_01: They're a mediocre, like you said, they're middle of the pack, big well 12 team.
- 10:50SPEAKER_01: And Penn State did what they were supposed to do.
- 10:52SPEAKER_01: Uh, there's nothing to see here, nothing proven yet.
- 10:55SPEAKER_01: Nothing to see here.
- 10:56SPEAKER_00: Fair enough.
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: Georgia um dismantled Clemson 34 to three in the kickoff classic in the Georgia dome.
- 11:01SPEAKER_00: Georgia's gonna do that to everybody.
- 11:03SPEAKER_00: They are I already signed on, I already picked up for the Heisman, I already picked up the National Championship, I already picked up the SEC, I've already made my step put my flag in the ground for Georgia.
- 11:11SPEAKER_00: This is exactly that.
- 11:11SPEAKER_00: They are gonna start barking at people anyway.
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: They are back to the 2021, 2022, even last year, 2023, when they just only thing they did was slip up against Alabama in the SEC championship.
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: They are an elite force, they have not missed a beat.
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: Clemson could have portled for all Clemson's woes, they could have had a uh Ole Miss or Florida State or Colorado uh portal class.
- 11:31SPEAKER_00: They're still not playing beating that team.
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: Kate Klubnick is not it, he is bad.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: I'm doing both sides this time.
- 11:36SPEAKER_00: Georgia's good and Clemson is bad, but I'm more on the Georgia being really good side.
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: They're just gonna they're gonna just a lot of people.
- 11:41SPEAKER_01: We know Georgia's really good.
- 11:42SPEAKER_01: Uh we know Georgia's really good.
- 11:44SPEAKER_01: Um, Clemson's still a really good team, so I'm not going the other way with Clemson.
- 11:47SPEAKER_01: I'm specifically targeting you, Cade Klubnick.
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: You suck, man.
- 11:51SPEAKER_01: It's time to move on, Dabo.
- 11:53SPEAKER_01: It's been it's been a year and change, and he hasn't shown us anything.
- 11:58SPEAKER_01: He is completely not living up to the billing.
- 12:01SPEAKER_01: He does have talent around him.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: He, I mean, Clemson, I'm gonna say it every week that we talk about Clemson.
- 12:07SPEAKER_01: They've got talent all over the field.
- 12:08SPEAKER_01: There's no reason to get the lack of production.
- 12:10SPEAKER_01: Um, and and it's not like Dabo forgot how to coach.
- 12:13SPEAKER_01: I do think that his assistants, you know, they've they've moved on.
- 12:17SPEAKER_01: He's had a lot of coordinator turnover.
- 12:19SPEAKER_01: Um, but I think, you know, if you want to start looking at why Clemson is underperforming, um, it starts with Cade Klevnick because that was a football game in the first half.
- 12:28SPEAKER_01: It was.
- 12:29SPEAKER_01: And that could have gone very differently uh if he was able to make a few plays.
- 12:32SPEAKER_01: He looks like a deer in the headlights.
- 12:34SPEAKER_01: You saw Cade Klubnick.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think I agree.
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: I'm the receivers actually are better than I thought they were gonna be.
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: Their offensive line look better too.
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: And Garrett Riley, if the guy from TCU, is a good offensive coordinator.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: So they actually should have some good coaching.
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: I think if I think at some point Clemson is probably gonna pull the plug on this on this season relative to winning a national championship.
- 12:50SPEAKER_00: Clemson's not winning a national championship this year, but they could still win eight, nine, ten games.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: I think it's they could still compete for an ACC championship right now.
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: I'll be honest, I don't know off the top of my head who the backup of Clemson is, but it's probably a pretty high recruit.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: It's probably somebody who's pretty good.
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: At least it's a at least it's a high potential, high ceiling type guy.
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: So I'm with you.
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: I Kate's not it.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: I think he's honestly I think he's your worst, I think he's your worst starter on offense.
- 13:09SPEAKER_00: Like, is there point somebody somebody who knows Clemson?
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: Look at their starting 11 on offense.
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: Which starter is worse than him?
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: I don't think I think it's it, and he's the most important position.
- 13:17SPEAKER_01: So down with Clemson Christopher Viz V Vizena.
- 13:21SPEAKER_01: Oh, I love that guy.
- 13:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 13:24SPEAKER_01: What do you know about him?
- 13:25SPEAKER_01: He's a four-star.
- 13:26SPEAKER_01: Okay, he's a four-star uh number 10 quarterback in the country in 2022.
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: Okay, yes.
- 13:33SPEAKER_00: So 2022, so he's had so he's already redshirted a year, so he's already been around Garrett Ryan on that offense forever.
- 13:38SPEAKER_00: I think at some point this season, let's see what he got.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: I love that guy.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: I'm a new biggest fan.
- 13:41SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm pulling for him.
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: Uh, I think he's gonna bring Clemson future.
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: All right, moving on.
- 13:45SPEAKER_00: Uh man, you're gonna love this one.
- 13:47SPEAKER_00: I can't wait to hear your takes on this.
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: Uh Cam Ward, I'm going, I'm going optimistic on Miami.
- 13:51SPEAKER_00: I don't I don't think I know what you're gonna do.
- 13:53SPEAKER_00: Uh, Cam Ward is awesome.
- 13:55SPEAKER_00: He made Miami look so good.
- 13:57SPEAKER_00: Moving around the pocket, just finding guys.
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: It looked effortless with him.
- 14:01SPEAKER_00: Uh I I'm I think Miami's my Miami is like is is two pegs against the next teams are who?
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: Louisville, Florida State, Clemson, Virginia Tech, somebody else in there, maybe Miami's three pegs about all of them.
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: So I think I got them as a clear head.
- 14:15SPEAKER_00: I got Miami.
- 14:16SPEAKER_00: I'm really bullish on them.
- 14:17SPEAKER_00: I'm over, I'm overreacting, I'm buying uh Miami.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: What are you gonna do?
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: What's your take on this case?
- 14:22SPEAKER_01: No, I so first off, I have to say, um Miami's way better than even I thought they would be.
- 14:28SPEAKER_01: Me too.
- 14:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, um, also, Florida is even worse than I thought there would be.
- 14:34SPEAKER_01: Miami had some typical moments where the swamp uh got a little bit big for them early, and then it was just off to the races.
- 14:42SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 14:43SPEAKER_01: Florida is gonna be in shambles.
- 14:45SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 14:46SPEAKER_01: Like they're worse.
- 14:47SPEAKER_01: They might not.
- 14:48SPEAKER_01: What did I say earlier in this in the podcast?
- 14:50SPEAKER_01: Like, your hot take was a you said Napier was the first one fire, which looks like a great take right now.
- 14:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's because it's the I don't know what the expectations were.
- 15:00SPEAKER_01: They were, I mean, we said that that would be a closer game.
- 15:02SPEAKER_01: We thought Florida maybe had a chance to win it, but that the the outcome just poured gasoline on that situation.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: I saw a lot of things on Twitter about people starting a lot, Florida fans in the swamp doing a lot of chants, talking about firing villain apier.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: It seems unlikely he makes the Halloween at this point.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: And honestly, I think I think they're playing UCF and Memphis, and they've got some other playing DJ Lagway, who is their kind of five star back in waiting.
- 15:28SPEAKER_01: He could it he could inject some some life into the program.
- 15:31SPEAKER_01: But his grand merchant would have to he'd have to no, I don't he's not.
- 15:35SPEAKER_01: It was really funny because they've actually been recruiting pretty well for the next um next year's class.
- 15:40SPEAKER_01: All of the recruits in the stands were throwing up the U.
- 15:43SPEAKER_01: Just take take it for what it's worth.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: Take it for what it's worth.
- 15:46SPEAKER_00: Uh the the fickle minds of 19 year olds old, but we'll we'll circle back to that.
- 15:50SPEAKER_00: Uh keep it rolling.
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: Um, just because I'm just I'm just I've become like a weird Nebraska fan ever since Frost was there.
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: Dylan Royola looked awesome.
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: Threw for like 282 yards, beat the brakes off of UTEP.
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: Uh, we're gonna talk about the Nebraska Colorado game next week, which is actually like probably the third or fourth best game this week.
- 16:06SPEAKER_00: Um, really excited to see Nebraska.
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: I'm overreacting on Nebraska.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: They're going to blow through that six and a half win total this year.
- 16:14SPEAKER_00: They're gonna win eight, nine games.
- 16:15SPEAKER_00: I am overreacting.
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: I'm I don't care that it was UTEP, I don't care.
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: It was 67 to 7.
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: Dylan Royola was dealing, that defense could play, they can run the ball.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: Give me some huskination.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: I'm bullish.
- 16:26SPEAKER_01: I agree.
- 16:27SPEAKER_01: I agree with you.
- 16:27SPEAKER_01: I'm I I'm right there with you on the bandwagon.
- 16:30SPEAKER_01: And I think I did I pick them to take, did I take the over on them in our first pod?
- 16:34SPEAKER_01: I think I did.
- 16:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they get a job.
- 16:36SPEAKER_01: Um, but yeah, I I love them.
- 16:38SPEAKER_00: We're gonna talk more about them later.
- 16:39SPEAKER_00: So do that.
- 16:40SPEAKER_00: Uh I did not know that TJ Finlay was still playing college football.
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: Those of you don't know who TJ Finlay is, he was a former starting quarterback of LSU, then Auburn, then Texas State, and now currently Western Kentucky, where he just lost to Alabama 66 to nothing.
- 16:54SPEAKER_00: Um, I couldn't when I when I saw that screw that game go across my screen and said TJ Finlay, I was like, Oh, that guy's still in football.
- 16:59SPEAKER_00: I know him.
- 17:00SPEAKER_00: So obviously he was not enough, and they lost by bajillion points in Tuscaloosa.
- 17:05SPEAKER_00: Um, I don't know.
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: Alabama's good, western Kentucky's not.
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: I'll I think it's probably both right takes.
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, there's nothing for me to say about that.
- 17:13SPEAKER_00: Keep rolling.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: Um, Michigan.
- 17:16SPEAKER_00: I I was because Michigan is concerning.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: They I'm I'm oh man, I'm they won, so I'm supposed to buy them.
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: No, I don't do.
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: I'm buying Fresno State.
- 17:23SPEAKER_00: Fresno State is a good team.
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: I like Mike Kakin, I like Corey Foreman, they've got some playmakers.
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: That game was Fresno State was we're talking about the Michigan Fresno State game.
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: Fresno State was driving the fourth corner before Will Johnson made an incredible pick six, took it to the house on the five run.
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: They had a chance to drive and take the lead.
- 17:39SPEAKER_00: Uh, Fresno State is a good Mountain West team, and I was very impressed with them.
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: Michigan, I know I'm breaking my own rules.
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: I've I'm not supposed to poo-poo it.
- 17:48SPEAKER_00: I can't poo-poo winners, but like it that game was all kinds of red flags.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: All right, that you go.
- 17:53SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna knock it to it.
- 17:53SPEAKER_00: You do it, you do it.
- 18:34SPEAKER_01: Well, we're gonna find out a lot about Michigan this weekend.
- 18:36SPEAKER_01: Okay, I'll talk about it then.
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 18:38SPEAKER_01: Go Fresno's Michigan, Michigan red flag.
- 18:40SPEAKER_01: Michigan, you suck without sealing everyone's signs.
- 18:43SPEAKER_01: You can't win a game.
- 18:44SPEAKER_01: Um, Harbaugh's gone.
- 18:46SPEAKER_01: Uh, wheels are falling off.
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: Wheels are falling off.
- 18:51SPEAKER_00: Uh, all of my Texas AM takes were based on Connor Wagman not being a bum.
- 18:56SPEAKER_00: And oh my god, was he bad?
- 18:58SPEAKER_00: Connor Wagman, the the uh quarterback of Texas AM, they hosted Notre Dame.
- 19:03SPEAKER_00: I was bullish on Texas AM, and I thought Texas AM defense did a good job, they were just hung out to dry the entire game.
- 19:10SPEAKER_00: Um, I don't think Notre Dame is that good.
- 19:12SPEAKER_00: I think their schedule is incredibly forgiving.
- 19:13SPEAKER_00: I thought Riley Leonard did a lot of really boring things.
- 19:16SPEAKER_00: I thought former LSU offer coordinator Mike Denbrock called a pretty mediocre game for him, frankly.
- 19:21SPEAKER_00: I thought offense was pretty underwhelming.
- 19:23SPEAKER_00: I thought Texas AM's offense was woeful, they were atrocious.
- 19:27SPEAKER_00: Their defense played well, kept them in the game.
- 19:28SPEAKER_00: They just by the fourth quarter, they were just on the field too long.
- 19:31SPEAKER_00: They were just doing everything and they couldn't get go ahead.
- 19:35SPEAKER_01: I came away from this weekend with like two matt, you know, two of those massively sort of knee-jerk reactions that you're not supposed to make.
- 19:43SPEAKER_01: And it was Kid Clubnik sucks, you gotta give him out of get him out of there, and Connor Wegman sucks, get him out of there.
- 19:49SPEAKER_01: That's that is that's that is my main.
- 19:50SPEAKER_01: Those were I mean, before we even talked about the show, I was like, I've got to talk about these two bums.
- 19:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and DJ.
- 19:56SPEAKER_01: I feel hot.
- 19:56SPEAKER_01: I'm hot this I'm hot in this spot.
- 19:59SPEAKER_00: All these teams, all these quarterbacks, y'all gotta go.
- 20:01SPEAKER_00: You all gotta go.
- 20:02SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, we're not gonna find out anything about um Notre Dame for a long time, too.
- 20:06SPEAKER_00: Now that they got Four State in their schedule, which is not looking like a very difficult game.
- 20:09SPEAKER_00: They've got really got USC, which is the only, which of course we'll talk about my beloved Tigers falling to USC later, is about the only thing.
- 20:15SPEAKER_00: So I don't have a lot of reason to really give uh Notre Dame a lot of roses.
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: I'm more down on Texas AM.
- 20:19SPEAKER_00: I was high on them going to this game.
- 20:21SPEAKER_00: I thought they were gonna win by 14.
- 20:22SPEAKER_00: And Connor Wagman just looked so bad.
- 20:25SPEAKER_01: Whatever he's doing.
- 20:25SPEAKER_01: He's not gonna be like, Riley Leonard, Riley Leonard looked like a game manager to me.
- 20:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, um, that is a tough place to play.
- 20:31SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 20:32SPEAKER_01: But this win is going to take this win, it's gonna have some of the shine taken off of it when we look back on it later in the season.
- 20:42SPEAKER_00: I mean, the play calling was right Riley Leonard roll left, Riley Leonard kind of a fullback dive right.
- 20:47SPEAKER_00: Uh, hand the ball off, hand the ball off.
- 20:48SPEAKER_00: Bo Collins might make a couple nice plays out wide.
- 20:51SPEAKER_00: Notre Dame's defense, I think, is really, really good.
- 20:53SPEAKER_00: I think their secondary action might be one of the best in the country.
- 20:55SPEAKER_00: I'll give them some credit for that.
- 20:57SPEAKER_00: But um, I just not bullish, I mean bearish on Texas AM.
- 21:03SPEAKER_00: Uh, what happened to Oregon?
- 21:04SPEAKER_00: Gross.
- 21:05SPEAKER_00: Oregon ekes out a win 24 to 14 against the mighty Idaho Vandals.
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 21:10SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 21:10SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 21:11SPEAKER_00: Um, I guess I'm gonna go ahead and I I don't know what to think of Oregon after that.
- 21:15SPEAKER_00: So I'm gonna go ahead and build up Idaho and say Idaho is a better team than we thought, I guess.
- 21:21SPEAKER_01: Um, so this is one where I'm not gonna play this game.
- 21:24SPEAKER_01: Okay, so I'm taking a step back from the the game for for this to talk about this specific game.
- 21:30SPEAKER_01: I don't think it means anything.
- 21:31SPEAKER_01: I think Oregon is still awesome.
- 21:32SPEAKER_01: I think it was just one of those week one head scratchers.
- 21:35SPEAKER_01: Maybe they were looking past them.
- 21:37SPEAKER_01: I'm not making any knee-jerk reactions about Oregon.
- 21:40SPEAKER_00: Okay, let me ask you this.
- 21:41SPEAKER_00: Since we're not talking about this game, Oregon is uh hoisting, hoisting, hoisting Boise.
- 21:46SPEAKER_00: I'll see what happened there.
- 21:47SPEAKER_00: Uh they're 19 and a half point favorites, almost three touchdowns.
- 21:50SPEAKER_00: Are they gonna cover?
- 21:53SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 21:54SPEAKER_00: I don't think so.
- 21:54SPEAKER_00: You don't think so?
- 21:55SPEAKER_00: Okay, boise they've got really good offense.
- 21:57SPEAKER_00: That that running back of theirs that scored six touchdowns past weekend.
- 21:59SPEAKER_01: I don't know if you heard I know, I I couldn't believe that.
- 22:03SPEAKER_01: Let me I took a I actually took a screenshot of that stat line.
- 22:06SPEAKER_01: It was 253 yards, six touchdowns.
- 22:09SPEAKER_00: I mean, to be fair with Georgia Southern, not exactly known for their defense, and also Boise's defense might be pretty bad too.
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: Georgia Southern went up and down the field a lot in that game.
- 22:17SPEAKER_01: I don't think they're gonna do that.
- 22:18SPEAKER_01: I don't think that he's gonna have near a stat line like that against a good Oregon front, though.
- 22:22SPEAKER_01: And if that's what it took, if that's what you know, if that's kind of what Boise needs to do.
- 22:26SPEAKER_01: It was against Georgia Southern.
- 22:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:28SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 22:29SPEAKER_00: I don't think he's gonna have a I don't think he'll have a stat like that maybe the rest of the season, even against other Mountain West teams.
- 22:33SPEAKER_00: Well, no, that's like that's like a video game.
- 22:36SPEAKER_00: Literally, people say that people say that like ironically, it's kind of like a Kind of a tongue in cheek.
- 22:40SPEAKER_00: That's actually was a video game statistic, legitimately.
- 22:42SPEAKER_00: Um, I do think Ashton Genty is an all-American running back and very, very good.
- 22:46SPEAKER_00: And we saw that, so it kind of uh built up with that.
- 22:49SPEAKER_00: Uh last two more games I want to talk about, then we'll jump in the next week.
- 22:52SPEAKER_00: Uh Ted McMillan, uh Arizona, also a monster stat line, 300 yards.
- 22:58SPEAKER_00: So I went back and watched a YouTube video of every touchdown.
- 23:01SPEAKER_00: Four touchdowns, 300 yards.
- 23:02SPEAKER_00: I think it was 10 catches.
- 23:04SPEAKER_00: Um I had that uh I had that as my one of my things to talk about too.
- 23:07SPEAKER_00: I went off.
- 23:08SPEAKER_00: Who'd they play?
- 23:09SPEAKER_00: North Arizona.
- 23:10SPEAKER_00: I can't remember who they play, Nevada or something.
- 23:12SPEAKER_00: No, it was uh New Mexico's New Mexico's Lobos.
- 23:15SPEAKER_00: Lobos, thank you.
- 23:16SPEAKER_00: Um so I went back and watched a 13-minute video of just those catches.
- 23:19SPEAKER_00: He is awesome.
- 23:21SPEAKER_00: I didn't realize how big and long he is.
- 23:23SPEAKER_00: He's like six, he's like, he looks like you're saying bolt out there.
- 23:25SPEAKER_00: He's like 6'5, 2'10.
- 23:27SPEAKER_00: He has these super long strides, and he's just like taking away.
- 23:30SPEAKER_00: There was a number of plays where it's just like it was like a basic curl, like a flat route, whatever.
- 23:34SPEAKER_00: He would just turn around and just start running towards the post, and they couldn't catch him.
- 23:37SPEAKER_00: Like he was just beating guys who had better angles consistently.
- 23:41SPEAKER_00: He is sneaky fast, huge kid.
- 23:44SPEAKER_00: Um, I love watching him play.
- 23:45SPEAKER_01: Well, and a little bit of red flag.
- 23:47SPEAKER_01: Arizona needed just about every every bit of that.
- 23:51SPEAKER_01: Sure did.
- 23:51SPEAKER_01: Sure did.
- 23:52SPEAKER_01: The final number was 3961 Arizona, right?
- 23:55SPEAKER_01: Um, New Mexico was there the entire game.
- 23:57SPEAKER_00: They were hanging to the fourth quarter as well.
- 23:59SPEAKER_00: And I was actually pretty bullish on Arizona's defense.
- 24:01SPEAKER_00: I think their secondary is supposed to be really good.
- 24:03SPEAKER_00: Wasn't against some mighty New Mexico state logos.
- 24:05SPEAKER_00: So um maybe that's a week one, week two thing.
- 24:07SPEAKER_00: I really like Brett Brennan and the new coach they have there.
- 24:09SPEAKER_00: Obviously, the old coach, Jed Fish, took the job at UW.
- 24:12SPEAKER_00: Um, but uh Noah Fafita and Tet McMillan are gonna be just an awesome connection.
- 24:17SPEAKER_00: Hopefully, both those guys can stay healthy because they're gonna keep Arizona in a lot of games because they're going to score a lot of points in the Big 12.
- 24:22SPEAKER_00: So kudos to the Wildcats, uh, giving you something to talk about.
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: Um, and then last but not least, I kind of already talked about it.
- 24:29SPEAKER_00: Florida State State um is stinks and is now just getting beat by last year.
- 24:36SPEAKER_00: The injustice of last year, the loser stink is on on them, they can't shake it off.
- 24:39SPEAKER_00: Too many transfers, DJU stinks.
- 24:41SPEAKER_00: Florida State is bad, bad, bad, bad, bad.
- 24:44SPEAKER_01: They are and they are.
- 24:44SPEAKER_01: I don't want to spend another second talking about Florida State.
- 24:47SPEAKER_01: Are we gonna do a rapid reaction about Vanderbilt beating our beloved hokeies?
- 24:51SPEAKER_00: Yes, let's see.
- 24:52SPEAKER_00: Yes, well, because that was my next four.
- 24:54SPEAKER_01: How high are you on Vanderbilt?
- 24:56SPEAKER_00: That over that I that I talked about early on looking pretty sweet.
- 24:59SPEAKER_00: I feel, I'll tell you, I feel stupid.
- 25:01SPEAKER_00: Oh, one, I'm just bummed for the Hokie fans.
- 25:03SPEAKER_00: I just I really thought there, I thought this was gonna come out and get a conference win, it just didn't happen.
- 25:07SPEAKER_00: I'm just they I don't they didn't take him seriously.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: Um, Diego Pavia, I I'm also like kind of mad at myself.
- 25:13SPEAKER_00: I didn't do my I didn't do enough Diego Pavia research.
- 25:16SPEAKER_00: The man rushed for 500 yards last year two years ago, who has correct 800 yards the year before.
- 25:21SPEAKER_00: He carried the ball twice as much as he threw the ball.
- 25:24SPEAKER_00: Um, and he's not gonna do that all season because he's gonna he's gonna die in the SEC, let's be honest.
- 25:28SPEAKER_00: But yeah, uh, I don't think Virginia Tech was ready for a mobile quarterback like that.
- 25:32SPEAKER_00: Um, they did claw back, they did almost win.
- 25:34SPEAKER_00: And maybe if um, you know, he doesn't go down with what looked like cramps and who's the the backup Colin Schley, I think is his name.
- 25:42SPEAKER_00: Schley, if that sounds right.
- 25:43SPEAKER_00: Good Schley, go.
- 25:44SPEAKER_00: Uh, if you know if you weren't forced to turn to Mr.
- 25:46SPEAKER_00: Schley, um in the maybe Virginia Tech ekes it out.
- 25:50SPEAKER_01: So I'm just you hate to see it, something like that define like the that moment, you know, when it's like you really need your guy in there and he's just not.
- 25:59SPEAKER_01: Um, but yeah, Vanderbilt, man.
- 26:02SPEAKER_00: Vanderbilt Diego Pavio stat line 12 for 16, 180, 190 yards passing, 26 carries, 140 yards, three total touchdowns.
- 26:09SPEAKER_00: Like, good god.
- 26:10SPEAKER_00: Like they he did it.
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: I don't, I don't, it's like that's like video game talking about video game numbers.
- 26:14SPEAKER_00: That's when you have like a mobile quarterback and you just don't hand the ball off.
- 26:16SPEAKER_00: Like every but every play is gonna go through Diego Papi.
- 26:19SPEAKER_00: He's gonna run every ball and pass every ball.
- 26:21SPEAKER_00: So give the man a nice bath.
- 26:23SPEAKER_00: Good give the man a nice bath.
- 26:24SPEAKER_00: Um, a little disappointment in um Tex defense.
- 26:27SPEAKER_00: I thought their play calling was pretty bland and bad to come out with.
- 26:30SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm interested to see what happens with them against uh Marshall.
- 26:34SPEAKER_00: We'll come we'll talk about it really quickly.
- 26:36SPEAKER_00: Um, three more homers.
- 26:37SPEAKER_00: Uh Tennessee, do your thing.
- 26:39SPEAKER_00: What do you got?
- 26:39SPEAKER_00: Tennessee.
- 26:40SPEAKER_00: Who they played?
- 26:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, um they played Oh, the mighty.
- 26:43SPEAKER_00: Don't you don't you dare besmirch the mighty mocks whenever you say tonight just Chattanooga.
- 26:47SPEAKER_01: Chattanooga.
- 26:48SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, they I mean it was everything you wanted to see.
- 26:51SPEAKER_01: The starters were out at halftime.
- 26:53SPEAKER_01: Nico looked the eye test.
- 26:55SPEAKER_01: I can't like you look at his stat line, he threw for 300 yards and three touchdowns in a half, and everyone's like, whatever, it was against Chattanooga.
- 27:01SPEAKER_01: You don't understand if you haven't watched the some of those throws and some of the quick decision making and and just the the precision in which he was throwing the ball.
- 27:09SPEAKER_01: I mean, you can't say enough about a game about what he did in a game like that because everyone knows you could put up whatever stat line you want, correct?
- 27:19SPEAKER_01: And it doesn't matter because of who you played.
- 27:21SPEAKER_01: Uh, but we saw everything we wanted to see as as Vol fans.
- 27:24SPEAKER_01: Um, so yeah, just excited.
- 27:26SPEAKER_01: Look very exciting.
- 27:27SPEAKER_00: Uh UVA, not bad.
- 27:29SPEAKER_00: Uh, did took care of business, uh, handed University of Richmond a third beating.
- 27:33SPEAKER_00: Uh Anthony Calandria threw for 300, two touchdowns, rush better 50.
- 27:37SPEAKER_00: Malachi Fields is absolutely their number one uh offensive weapon, had a great day as well.
- 27:42SPEAKER_00: I think him and AC are gonna be really fun and gonna keep them in a lot of games this year.
- 27:47SPEAKER_00: Um, yeah, they absolutely took care of business.
- 27:49SPEAKER_00: Yes, they sure did.
- 27:50SPEAKER_00: Uh, fun fact not a single stat for my guy, Andre Green Jr., or your guy, Chris Tyree.
- 27:56SPEAKER_00: So UVA has found some diversity um in their playmakers.
- 27:59SPEAKER_00: I thought for sure both those guys were gonna be key features.
- 28:01SPEAKER_00: I was clearly wrong.
- 28:01SPEAKER_00: Kobe Pace had a nice day as well.
- 28:03SPEAKER_00: Uh Jonasankey, their uh their free safety, who might compete for All American, certainly all conference, looks like an absolute dude.
- 28:10SPEAKER_00: Eight tackles, uh, eight total tackles and one and a half for loss.
- 28:14SPEAKER_00: He was everywhere.
- 28:15SPEAKER_00: Um, UVA also for what they're trying to do, what they expected an FCS week one opponent, looked apart.
- 28:22SPEAKER_01: Off to a good start, man.
- 28:23SPEAKER_01: I mean, I don't think I expected them to put up that those kind of points in week one.
- 28:27SPEAKER_00: Me neither, me neither.
- 28:28SPEAKER_00: So wahu wa, good for y'all.
- 28:29SPEAKER_00: Um, LSU.
- 28:32SPEAKER_00: You go ahead and start first.
- 28:33SPEAKER_00: You go ahead and say what you guys say first.
- 28:34SPEAKER_01: Give me your give it, give us a um I don't know.
- 28:38SPEAKER_01: It was a good game.
- 28:39SPEAKER_01: Um, I know it's it's hard to see things objectively when you're a fan and and you're so you know in the trenches.
- 28:45SPEAKER_01: Um, I thought they played a good game.
- 28:47SPEAKER_01: Um Nessmeyer looked good.
- 28:49SPEAKER_01: Uh, there were a lot of good things to take away.
- 28:51SPEAKER_01: I think um Southern Cal's uh front, especially on defense, was better than we thought it would be.
- 28:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 28:56SPEAKER_01: Uh you didn't you weren't able to have your way with them on the ground like like you want to see, still have plenty of opportunities to win that game and just dropped dropped a tough one.
- 29:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean that's a pretty good, fair, and kind assessment.
- 29:08SPEAKER_00: Appreciate you not dunking on me too much.
- 29:10SPEAKER_00: Um, I think Miller Moss might be the best quarterback the LSU faces all year.
- 29:14SPEAKER_00: Jackson Dart's gonna be up there.
- 29:15SPEAKER_00: Jackson Arnold, Oklahoma, maybe it's not gonna be not gonna be Connor Wagman, and I don't think it's gonna be Jalen Milrow either.
- 29:21SPEAKER_00: So, you know, something to be said for that.
- 29:23SPEAKER_00: Like it's you might have gotten your stiffest test right at the gate.
- 29:26SPEAKER_00: Um, their receivers are absolutely amazing.
- 29:28SPEAKER_00: They made at least three circuit catches.
- 29:30SPEAKER_00: There was like five bad batted balls that could have easily been picked.
- 29:33SPEAKER_00: We didn't get any of them.
- 29:34SPEAKER_00: There was two fumbles, LSD was right there, didn't get any of them.
- 29:38SPEAKER_00: Three times in the red zone, we came away with six points, didn't finish.
- 29:42SPEAKER_00: Like there were so many things there were so many things that could have happened.
- 29:46SPEAKER_00: The opening kickoff, it took a USD getting a screw string tackle to stop him.
- 29:50SPEAKER_00: That should have been opening kickoff since we should have started game start the game 7-0.
- 29:53SPEAKER_00: Like there were so many things, it was so close it didn't go.
- 29:56SPEAKER_00: It could we could have easily won.
- 29:58SPEAKER_00: We could have easily could have easily had that game.
- 29:59SPEAKER_00: We just didn't, it's frustrating.
- 30:01SPEAKER_00: I don't buy much into the oh, Brian Kelly can't win openers, although he has started 0-3.
- 30:05SPEAKER_00: You know, his first game was against Florida State, literally a brand new team with 60 scholarship guys.
- 30:09SPEAKER_00: Second one was Florida State in Florida.
- 30:11SPEAKER_00: That Florida State team at Dra Jordan Travis was top four team in the country.
- 30:14SPEAKER_00: Only blame for that as well.
- 30:15SPEAKER_00: Uh USC might be might be better than us.
- 30:18SPEAKER_00: They might be but they might finish the season top 10.
- 30:20SPEAKER_00: I mean, they're looked really darn good.
- 30:22SPEAKER_00: And so one thing things I did like the LSU defense is light years already, light years better than it was last year.
- 30:30SPEAKER_00: The defensive line was pass rush was pretty consistent.
- 30:33SPEAKER_00: Um, all sorry, not all, but we had many redshirt, fresh redshirt software, the defensive backfield, uh Flash, Ashen Stamps, PJ Woodland, Jordan Allen, all those guys are going to command more time.
- 30:44SPEAKER_00: Um, I was really happy with Wit Weeks.
- 30:47SPEAKER_00: Uh, a linebacker, he was everywhere.
- 30:49SPEAKER_00: Like they Blake Baker, Kevin Peoples, Bo Davis, like has already earned his paycheck.
- 30:54SPEAKER_00: They're our new defensive line coach, given what we have, what we have at the beginning of the season.
- 30:57SPEAKER_00: Like we have a lot to to build on.
- 31:00SPEAKER_00: And the reality is LSU is back about to sleepwalk through four wins.
- 31:03SPEAKER_00: We got Nichols State this week, we're favored by 50.
- 31:07SPEAKER_00: Um at South Carolina, who I actually think is the worst SEC team in the country.
- 31:10SPEAKER_00: I think they're the worst team in the SEC.
- 31:12SPEAKER_00: We're going to Yeah, they look really bad.
- 31:14SPEAKER_00: They look really bad.
- 31:14SPEAKER_00: Almost lost to ODU, another Virginia, the proud Virginia school.
- 31:17SPEAKER_00: Um, South Alabama, which lost a lot.
- 31:19SPEAKER_00: They're not really gonna be competitive, and then UCLA at home, which almost lost to Hawaii.
- 31:23SPEAKER_00: They also look pretty future.
- 31:24SPEAKER_00: And then we get a bye week, and then we host AM.
- 31:28SPEAKER_00: Ole Miss.
- 31:29SPEAKER_00: October 12th.
- 31:30SPEAKER_00: LSU has a this this is actually kind of good for LSU.
- 31:32SPEAKER_00: This is about the next 30 days.
- 31:33SPEAKER_00: LSU is gonna fall off everyone's radar, quietly take care of business, handle their wins, get well, get rested, get some of this new defensive coaching stuff kind of figured out, polished out.
- 31:42SPEAKER_00: And Brian Kelly's made teams better as the year goes, and then we'll see.
- 31:46SPEAKER_00: We beat Ole Miss at home in Death Valley at night.
- 31:49SPEAKER_00: We're five and one, it's on.
- 31:50SPEAKER_00: You know, we're we're we're back to things.
- 31:52SPEAKER_01: That's one of the things, you know, it's it's especially in this era of college football where one win doesn't or one loss doesn't destroy your season.
- 31:59SPEAKER_01: Um, playing these high profile games, it's really a win-win.
- 32:02SPEAKER_01: You lose early to a team that's projected to compete for a conference championship, potentially a playoff bid.
- 32:08SPEAKER_01: And by the time the end of the season rolls along, it just doesn't hurt you that much.
- 32:12SPEAKER_01: So, especially with the way the schedule plays out, I agree.
- 32:15SPEAKER_01: Plenty to build on, no reason to get down in the dumps.
- 32:19SPEAKER_01: Let's uh let's keep rolling.
- 32:20SPEAKER_00: Let's keep rolling.
- 32:21SPEAKER_00: I hope you're right.
- 32:22SPEAKER_00: If LSU could screw up a playoff spot, if not in three LSU could screw up a playoff spot by 10 and 2, Missouri, I'm gonna lose, I'm gonna lose it.
- 32:27SPEAKER_00: I'll tell you right now.
- 32:28SPEAKER_00: All right, let's move on to week two.
- 32:30SPEAKER_00: So, kind of a week slate of games.
- 32:32SPEAKER_00: The big game is that that's gonna get everyone's attention is Texas at Michigan, which is also just pretty historic.
- 32:37SPEAKER_00: These teams like never play.
- 32:39SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, uh big Texas is kind of the center of the football universe in a lot of respects.
- 32:44SPEAKER_00: Michigan just won the national championship.
- 32:46SPEAKER_00: Longhorns are going there.
- 32:47SPEAKER_00: Texas is uh favored by seven and a half.
- 32:50SPEAKER_00: Um, give me your initial thoughts, takeaways on Texas, Michigan.
- 32:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it is gonna be fun to watch these two brands line up and play a regular season.
- 32:59SPEAKER_00: It's gonna look awesome on TV.
- 33:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's it's it's that's exciting.
- 33:03SPEAKER_01: It's very exciting.
- 33:03SPEAKER_01: It's it's a little it's kind of lame that it's a noon game.
- 33:06SPEAKER_01: It does benefit us who will be ready to watch somewhere in Charlotte.
- 33:11SPEAKER_00: Before we go to the Eiffel Full, yes.
- 33:13SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, I'm excited for this one.
- 33:15SPEAKER_01: Um, especially with the way, you know, Michigan's coming off of the national championship, and Texas, although have has been on the doorstep in the playoffs, people are still sort of hesitant to say that they're back.
- 33:34SPEAKER_01: Now, first it was a joke, but then we were then we were unironically believing it.
- 33:37SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 33:37SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 33:38SPEAKER_01: I think this game is is gonna be part of that building process.
- 33:40SPEAKER_01: I think this game lines up to put them on everyone's radar is like you cannot make that joke anymore.
- 33:46SPEAKER_01: Uh the spread's seven and a half.
- 33:47SPEAKER_01: I like Texas to win, but not cover.
- 33:50SPEAKER_01: I think that um Michigan has shown some flaws.
- 33:53SPEAKER_01: I do still think that they're sort of rebuilding a bit from from the turnover from last year's roster.
- 33:58SPEAKER_01: Um, so yeah, I think Texas goes in there in a hostile environment and takes care of business.
- 34:03SPEAKER_00: I got Texas covering.
- 34:05SPEAKER_00: Um, I I I was very concerned with how bad Michigan's offensive line is.
- 34:09SPEAKER_00: I they have a lot of guys that experience experience, and Sharon Moore is an offensive lineman guy himself.
- 34:14SPEAKER_00: So I think maybe they'll get there.
- 34:16SPEAKER_00: They did not look good.
- 34:17SPEAKER_00: Um all of my Michigan faith was in the fact that yeah, they're gonna, I mean, obviously JJ's gone, some of those wideouts are gone, but you know, Davis Warren is gonna be good enough to get the ball because they're gonna run the bejesus out of it.
- 34:29SPEAKER_00: And Donovan Edwards is that is a is an awesome backup Mullins is sweet as well, but they could not block very well.
- 34:35SPEAKER_00: If I'm a Michigan fan, that offensive line was kind of the key to 2024, I think, and it's not there, at least not yet.
- 34:43SPEAKER_00: Defense is still elite, gonna make it close.
- 34:45SPEAKER_00: I don't think Texas is gonna be able to run the ball very well on them, and I think Will Johnson is going to absolutely erase Texas's best receiver.
- 34:52SPEAKER_00: The problem is Texas has like seven receivers that are really good.
- 34:56SPEAKER_00: So yeah, I like I got Texas winning 27-14 type of game.
- 35:02SPEAKER_00: So I think they're gonna win in cover, uh, just because I I think Michigan's offense has a lot more work to be done than we thought.
- 35:09SPEAKER_00: And Texas has got too many ways of winning, especially out wide.
- 35:12SPEAKER_00: Just the other, whichever side Will Johnson's on, throw the other guy.
- 35:15SPEAKER_01: Just don't throw at it.
- 35:16SPEAKER_01: I I agree with you.
- 35:17SPEAKER_01: I just I think home field advantage is worth so much in this game with the atmosphere and the buildup for both of these teams that um it it it probably makes makes it a little bit tougher hill to climb.
- 35:28SPEAKER_01: Uh so I do like Texas, but only by about a touchdown.
- 35:31SPEAKER_00: Okay, okay.
- 35:32SPEAKER_00: All right, let's keep it rolling.
- 35:34SPEAKER_00: Uh Nebraska, this this is my favorite non-game that we're not going to this week.
- 35:38SPEAKER_00: Uh, Nebraska is a seven, seven and a half point favorite at Colorado.
- 35:42SPEAKER_00: I've already, we've already, if you were listening this far, you already know.
- 35:45SPEAKER_00: I am firmly on Colorado.
- 35:46SPEAKER_00: I think they're gonna win by like 14.
- 35:48SPEAKER_00: I think this is that uh sorry, Nebraska.
- 35:50SPEAKER_00: Nebraska win by 14.
- 35:51SPEAKER_00: This game is in Nebraska.
- 35:53SPEAKER_00: Uh I think big red nation is going to be loud and proud.
- 35:55SPEAKER_00: I think Nebraska's got a really good defense.
- 35:57SPEAKER_00: I think Tony White's also awesome defensive coordinator.
- 35:59SPEAKER_00: I think they're gonna be able to run the ball.
- 36:00SPEAKER_00: I think they have weapons.
- 36:01SPEAKER_00: I think Dylan Royol is gonna manage the game well, and they're gonna they're gonna stop Travis Hunter and Shador Sanders enough times that they're gonna win.
- 36:09SPEAKER_00: Because I think Nebraska, I think Colorado's defense is a huge liability.
- 36:13SPEAKER_00: I don't think they're stopping anybody.
- 36:14SPEAKER_00: I got Nebraska playing ball control, keeping it away, getting enough stops, and winning by 14, 17, 35.
- 36:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think Nebraska is the more complete team here.
- 36:24SPEAKER_01: Obviously, we've talked about the stars over on Colorado.
- 36:26SPEAKER_01: They've accounted for like all of their big plays.
- 36:28SPEAKER_01: It's and then and they work in chunks.
- 36:30SPEAKER_01: Like they they don't drive down the field.
- 36:32SPEAKER_01: It's big play or bust.
- 36:34SPEAKER_01: And I think that's going to come back to hurt them in this game.
- 36:36SPEAKER_01: Last year in this matchup, Nebraska had like eight sacks.
- 36:40SPEAKER_01: And I think Colorado's like four turnovers.
- 36:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, through a bunch of picks.
- 36:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I I think Colorado's offensive line has improved, but I still think that um Nebraska gets home too much uh and causes some disruption in the backfield.
- 36:54SPEAKER_01: And yeah, I like Nebraska to cover to win.
- 36:56SPEAKER_01: Uh, I don't think this is I think it's a good game, but I think they pull away in the second half.
- 37:00SPEAKER_00: I think the only way this is a decent game for Colorado is if it's a shootout.
- 37:02SPEAKER_00: If the Colorado, if Colorado scores touchdowns on Travis Hunter and Jimmy Horn, like three, three, three play drives for 70 yards, they hit big chunk gains.
- 37:10SPEAKER_00: If they have to sustain 12, 14, 16 play drives, I don't think it's gonna happen.
- 37:15SPEAKER_00: I don't think they're built to do that.
- 37:16SPEAKER_00: I think Nebraska, on the other hand, is happy to play physical, tough nose football.
- 37:20SPEAKER_00: And I think by the fourth quarter, third quarter, those Colorado defenders are making business decisions and they're not gonna want to uh do what it takes to slow down Nebraska.
- 37:27SPEAKER_01: I do think if that does happen, if if Nebraska gets down early, a couple scores, I do think that's gonna be a big issue for them.
- 37:33SPEAKER_01: You know, I think that is I think that the way the game plays out early could dictate a lot.
- 37:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I like that take a lot.
- 37:38SPEAKER_00: Because honestly Dylan Royola being a true freshman in his second game.
- 37:41SPEAKER_00: This guy was going, which was high school prom like eight weeks ago, whatever it was.
- 37:44SPEAKER_00: So, like he is now the guy.
- 37:47SPEAKER_00: Um, this is a big, big, big spot for him if they do get behind.
- 37:50SPEAKER_00: So I really like that take a lot.
- 37:51SPEAKER_00: Let's keep going.
- 37:52SPEAKER_00: Arkansas at Oklahoma State.
- 37:53SPEAKER_00: Uh, Oklahoma State is minus seven and a half, uh favorite.
- 37:57SPEAKER_00: Uh uh, I got Oli Gordon and that offensive line going nuts.
- 38:00SPEAKER_00: I've Talon Green looked great last week for Arkansas.
- 38:03SPEAKER_00: They're they're interesting, so I'm just keep an eye on.
- 38:05SPEAKER_00: I think Oklahoma State's one of the best teams in the Big 12.
- 38:07SPEAKER_00: I didn't see anything that uh got me off of that last week, and I still don't think Arkansas is very good.
- 38:11SPEAKER_00: So I'm going, I'm taking Oakley State.
- 38:13SPEAKER_00: I'm taking Ollie Gordon, have a big day.
- 38:15SPEAKER_00: I don't think Arkansas has enough on defense.
- 38:17SPEAKER_00: I don't think Taylon Green is good enough when in playing in Stillwater, which is going to be nuts.
- 38:22SPEAKER_00: Stillwater is one of those places where we unironically call it a horns test.
- 38:26SPEAKER_00: That's one of those places.
- 38:27SPEAKER_00: I think it's gonna be absolutely bonkers and uh give me uh give me the pokes.
- 38:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I I like Oklahoma State here to cover as well.
- 38:34SPEAKER_01: We still don't know what Arkansas is, we still don't know what the Bobby Petrino um experiment is gonna look like, but it's gonna be the customer.
- 38:42SPEAKER_01: The early season take on Arkansas, and and I'm and I'm and I'm still with that, is that they're kind of a wild card.
- 38:47SPEAKER_01: I just don't think they're talented enough, and I don't know that they're you know, they they're still finding themselves offensively, they're still searching for an identity, and Oklahoma State knows what what they are in in every way.
- 38:59SPEAKER_01: I mean, they they know what they are on offense, they know what they are on defense, they've got the home field advantage.
- 39:03SPEAKER_01: Um, they should completely dominate this game.
- 39:05SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm a little surprised that the spread's so low, actually.
- 39:08SPEAKER_01: But um, yeah, if if I'm putting money on it, I'm taking I'm taking Oklahoma State.
- 39:12SPEAKER_00: It's not a good sign that all three that we are you you and I are both agreeing on the three square plays.
- 39:17SPEAKER_00: We're getting we're we're we're we're picking the favorites to cover in all three.
- 39:19SPEAKER_00: Not a great sign, but here we are.
- 39:20SPEAKER_00: Uh let's see if we can mix it up.
- 39:22SPEAKER_00: Uh last one before we switch the homers.
- 39:23SPEAKER_00: Iowa State at Iowa.
- 39:25SPEAKER_00: Uh the Hawkeye, the I think it's called the Pshawk Bowl or something like that.
- 39:28SPEAKER_00: It's got it's got a funny name.
- 39:29SPEAKER_00: This is one of those rare good call.
- 39:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah, this is one of those rare treats in college football.
- 39:33SPEAKER_00: I think Mike and I both agree that rivalries in college football are the best things, and we actually get a really, really great one early.
- 39:39SPEAKER_00: I don't know if it's the earliest, but for my money, it's the best early rivalry game we get before the jug and the axe and all the Big Ten games and the you know the SEC um Magnolia Bowl stuff kicks in.
- 39:52SPEAKER_00: Um, this is a great, great in-state rivalry.
- 39:54SPEAKER_00: They care a ton.
- 39:56SPEAKER_00: And it's a tight, it's a tight line.
- 39:57SPEAKER_00: It's only two and a half.
- 39:58SPEAKER_00: Um, I'm gonna take the dogs on this one because I've already kind of hitched my wagon to the Iowa State folks earlier this year, and I'm I'm I'm I don't think Kurt Forents should be the future of Iowa anymore.
- 40:08SPEAKER_00: I know they hired a new officer coordinator, they looked great last week.
- 40:10SPEAKER_00: Iowa State's better team.
- 40:11SPEAKER_00: I think they're gonna go uh and get the win.
- 40:14SPEAKER_00: Give me the clones, uh, give me Rocco Becht and the boys uh getting it done.
- 40:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I I I hate to do it, but I'm I'm with you.
- 40:20SPEAKER_01: Iowa still has a solid defense, very good.
- 40:23SPEAKER_01: I think this is a low scoring, kind of a uh just a kind of knockdown drag out.
- 40:28SPEAKER_01: I think Iowa State pulls out a tight one.
- 40:31SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 40:32SPEAKER_00: Now, one thing I will that that could be kind of the flying woman, I will say Iowa's kicker is nails.
- 40:37SPEAKER_00: He was he was drilling 1560 yard kicks, uh, really good experience.
- 40:40SPEAKER_00: The Iowa State kicker is like a true freshman, uh, who has not done much.
- 40:44SPEAKER_00: Apparently, he's apparently he said on Twitter somewhere, he's like, You can trust me anywhere within 60.
- 40:49SPEAKER_00: Like, okay, cool, man.
- 40:50SPEAKER_00: I'm sure we can.
- 40:51SPEAKER_00: That's real.
- 40:52SPEAKER_00: I'm glad you're believing yourself, but somehow I'm not having done that before, I question it maybe a little bit.
- 40:58SPEAKER_01: That's a good call out.
- 40:58SPEAKER_01: That's a good call out because this could be.
- 41:00SPEAKER_01: I mean, I could easily see this being like a 20 to 17 game.
- 41:03SPEAKER_00: It could be a kicker, it could be a kicker fast, it could be 12-15 or something, it could be something bizarre like that.
- 41:07SPEAKER_00: Um, but no, I think uh Matt Campbell's really good coach.
- 41:10SPEAKER_00: He's gonna scheme some things up and he's gonna get the dub.
- 41:12SPEAKER_00: So give me the uh give me the clones.
- 41:14SPEAKER_00: All right, last four.
- 41:15SPEAKER_00: Let's talk about home overtime.
- 41:16SPEAKER_00: Uh first one, Marshall at Virginia Tech, another payback game.
- 41:19SPEAKER_00: They played last year.
- 41:20SPEAKER_00: Marshall won this game last year in, I guess, Marshall, West Virginia.
- 41:23SPEAKER_00: Is that where Marshall is?
- 41:24SPEAKER_00: In Marshall.
- 41:25SPEAKER_00: Uh, they are 19 point favorites, almost three touchdowns.
- 41:29SPEAKER_00: Give me the hookies to bounce back.
- 41:30SPEAKER_00: I don't think what we saw out of at Vanderbilt was indicative of them.
- 41:34SPEAKER_00: I think that was a wake-up call, and I think they saw a lot ahead of them.
- 41:37SPEAKER_00: I still like Pry, this offense, drones, Tootin, Alley Jennings, Daquan Felton, Jalen Lane.
- 41:43SPEAKER_00: Uh bounce back.
- 41:44SPEAKER_00: Give me the hookies, minus whatever.
- 41:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they're going back to the the comfy confines of Lane Stadium.
- 41:49SPEAKER_01: I do like the hands to win.
- 41:50SPEAKER_01: I don't think they cover.
- 41:51SPEAKER_01: I don't think they cover.
- 41:52SPEAKER_01: I think they they they're still finding themselves in a few ways.
- 41:55SPEAKER_01: And last week was they saw some red flags and they actually got bit by it.
- 42:00SPEAKER_01: I still think they're working on fixing those, so I don't think that they they cover the lofty 19, but I think they they dominate.
- 42:07SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 42:08SPEAKER_00: Uh UVA at Wake Forest.
- 42:09SPEAKER_00: Wake Forest is a two and a half point favorite, which is essentially the value of home field.
- 42:12SPEAKER_00: So according to Vegas, this game is essentially a coin to this neutral site.
- 42:16SPEAKER_00: Um, I'm gonna I'm gonna ride by Homers.
- 42:19SPEAKER_00: Give me the give me UVA.
- 42:20SPEAKER_00: I'll be honest with you, I really selfishly want them to win because next week uh I'm going, I'm going to the UVA Maryland game at UVA, in which case if they're both two and oh, that's a huge swing game.
- 42:30SPEAKER_00: That's I think we're I think it's gonna be the most electric Scott Stadium is gonna be in a long time.
- 42:33SPEAKER_00: So I really want UVA to win this game.
- 42:35SPEAKER_00: So two and oh when they face Maryland next week when I'm in the house with them.
- 42:38SPEAKER_00: Um, but focusing on this game, uh, I don't think Wake's very talented.
- 42:42SPEAKER_00: And I think people are still sleeping on UVA.
- 42:45SPEAKER_00: I said it last week, I said the week before, UVA's defense is better than they get credit for because I have a lot of experience.
- 42:50SPEAKER_00: So that's gonna be the difference here.
- 42:51SPEAKER_00: Give me uh Kalandria to Maokai Fields for two touchdowns and a solid force out of defense.
- 42:57SPEAKER_00: UVA gets a win in Wake Forestville.
- 42:59SPEAKER_00: Where's Wake Forest play?
- 43:00SPEAKER_00: What's it say?
- 43:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I uh we're agreeing too much, so it's a bad sign of a bad sign.
- 43:06SPEAKER_01: Fade every one of our picks.
- 43:08SPEAKER_01: Um UVA has is finding some things.
- 43:10SPEAKER_01: I think they've got some momentum, they've got some confidence, they've got some things working.
- 43:13SPEAKER_01: Wake Forest is terrible, they're a bunch of nerds.
- 43:16SPEAKER_01: Wakeforest is bad, bad, bad.
- 43:19SPEAKER_00: Uh you yeah, give me the calves to win this one.
- 43:22SPEAKER_00: Wahoos.
- 43:23SPEAKER_00: Uh Nickel State at LSU.
- 43:24SPEAKER_00: The spread is I don't even know what it is in the 40s or 50s, a huge number.
- 43:28SPEAKER_00: Nothing really to watch.
- 43:29SPEAKER_00: They're gonna win by a lot.
- 43:30SPEAKER_00: Get healthy.
- 43:30SPEAKER_00: Let's see, so let's see.
- 43:32SPEAKER_00: Don't get hurt.
- 43:32SPEAKER_00: I want to see no breakdowns on the secondary.
- 43:36SPEAKER_00: I want to see the offensive line run block.
- 43:37SPEAKER_00: So they were outstanding in pass pro last year.
- 43:40SPEAKER_00: Uh they kept um Garrett Nessmeyer very, very clean against USC.
- 43:43SPEAKER_00: Uh, I want to see, and which they will again against Nickel.
- 43:46SPEAKER_00: No, no disrespect to Nickel State.
- 43:47SPEAKER_00: They're gonna block them pretty well.
- 43:48SPEAKER_00: I want to see them run block really well this time.
- 43:50SPEAKER_00: Uh, get that get that kind of fixed up.
- 43:52SPEAKER_00: Let's just be crisper and get ready for South Carolina the next week.
- 43:56SPEAKER_00: Uh, lastly, uh, Tennessee is going to Charlotte.
- 44:01SPEAKER_00: So our Mike and I, we're also gonna be there where they are meeting a neutral site, the NC State Wolfpack.
- 44:05SPEAKER_00: This spread opened at uh Tennessee favored by four after Tennessee's very crisp performance last week, and NC State's pretty ho hum performance has jumped to minus seven and a half, minus eight.
- 44:16SPEAKER_00: So obviously Vegas is heavy on the balls.
- 44:19SPEAKER_00: This is your game, buddy.
- 44:20SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm I'm I'm riding with Mike this week.
- 44:22SPEAKER_00: What do you got?
- 44:23SPEAKER_01: Give me your give me your I think I think NC State um is better than they they showed last week.
- 44:28SPEAKER_01: They they definitely had a very um sleepy performance against the uh catamounts of uh Western Kentucky, but they're still a good team.
- 44:38SPEAKER_01: They're Solid.
- 44:40SPEAKER_01: Dave Doran always has a good defense.
- 44:42SPEAKER_01: They they run a multiple front, which I think may give uh Tennessee some fits at times.
- 44:48SPEAKER_01: Just Nico still being young and processing things, not knowing where the pressure's coming from.
- 44:53SPEAKER_01: They've got to get pressure.
- 44:54SPEAKER_01: They've got to gotta get pressure.
- 44:56SPEAKER_01: I don't think they do it enough.
- 44:57SPEAKER_01: And I don't think they've got enough on offense.
- 45:00SPEAKER_01: Their offense looks very suspect throughout the game.
- 45:04SPEAKER_01: They relied on Concepcion at wide receiver.
- 45:07SPEAKER_01: He's a great player, but they rely on him every single time they needed anything.
- 45:12SPEAKER_01: They're just not gonna Tennessee's defense isn't gonna allow that to happen.
- 45:16SPEAKER_01: Tennessee's defensive front controls this game from start to finish.
- 45:21SPEAKER_01: Maybe they hit on a few plays.
- 45:22SPEAKER_01: Maybe Concepcion gets gets loose, uh, makes a few guys miss.
- 45:26SPEAKER_01: Uh they just don't have enough to survive the defensive front constantly living in the backfield.
- 45:33SPEAKER_01: And I think Tennessee wins this game.
- 45:34SPEAKER_01: Um maybe it takes a little bit longer to be comfortable, but I think they win this game comfortably.
- 45:39SPEAKER_01: And I have no clue why the line is so low.
- 45:42SPEAKER_00: Well, I so Dave Dorn has proven to do more with less for a long time.
- 45:47SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna advocate for I'm gonna I also agree with you, I think, and I'll get to my pick in a minute, but I'm just gonna advocate for Texas, sorry, for NC State for a minute.
- 45:54SPEAKER_00: Um, David Dorn has done more with less for a long time.
- 45:57SPEAKER_00: NC State has not been known for his recruiting prowess, um, but has consistently churned out high-end uh defenses, and they've done really well with quarterbacks as well.
- 46:07SPEAKER_00: Um, I think Grayson McCall is a good quarterback, and he's obviously moved over from coastal, I think is where he came from.
- 46:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, um, and he's he's a strong quarterback.
- 46:14SPEAKER_00: Kevin Concepcion is probably the best wide receiver in this game.
- 46:18SPEAKER_00: Um, and that's anytime I would argue he's I'll take Tennessee's.
- 46:23SPEAKER_01: We've got four guys better than him.
- 46:25SPEAKER_00: I agree.
- 46:26SPEAKER_00: I will give you here, I will give you Tennessee's room, but I think Kevin Sepcion is a better single threat.
- 46:31SPEAKER_00: Anyway, the point is if this is going to go well for NC State, Dave Doran's got to scheme some things up that are going to give Nico some different looks, which is certainly he's certainly capable of doing.
- 46:41SPEAKER_00: He's gonna have to have some tricks in his sleeve for sure.
- 46:43SPEAKER_00: Um, Kevin Ception is gonna have to feast.
- 46:46SPEAKER_00: And if if it's uh if that's gonna happen, it's going to be attacking what we think is Tennessee's probably key vulnerability this year, is their secondary, might be a strength by end of the year.
- 46:54SPEAKER_00: We'll find out.
- 46:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we don't we don't know.
- 46:55SPEAKER_00: This is a great game to find out.
- 46:57SPEAKER_00: We don't know where they are.
- 46:58SPEAKER_00: Um Kevin Caption is absolutely gonna test them.
- 47:00SPEAKER_00: Um, so you know what I think is gonna happen is Tennessee is going to they're gonna bracket him, take him out of the game.
- 47:06SPEAKER_00: They're gonna force McCall to look elsewhere.
- 47:08SPEAKER_00: And be when you when you start to look down that list, that's when you've got guys that aren't necessarily able to challenge Tennessee, even even their questionable starters in a way that you would expect a winning team to do.
- 47:20SPEAKER_00: Um, I got the Vols winning.
- 47:22SPEAKER_00: I think um actually I think it's funny.
- 47:23SPEAKER_00: We talk about Nico a lot and talk about pass rush a lot.
- 47:26SPEAKER_00: I actually think it's gonna be Dylan Sampson, the running back or Dylan, right, is his name.
- 47:29SPEAKER_00: Um, I think he's gonna rush for a lot.
- 47:31SPEAKER_00: He went for 10 carries, like 100 yards and three touchdowns last week.
- 47:34SPEAKER_00: So I mean he's a stud.
- 47:35SPEAKER_00: I actually think Tennessee's gonna run the damn ball a lot.
- 47:38SPEAKER_00: And I think they're gonna do a I think they're gonna do a pretty good job of that.
- 47:40SPEAKER_00: And that's actually gonna be the story.
- 47:42SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna zag a little bit.
- 47:43SPEAKER_00: I think Tennessee wins.
- 47:44SPEAKER_00: I think Tennessee covers, but I wouldn't be shocked if it was a seven-point game 31-24, 23-30, something like that.
- 47:52SPEAKER_00: Um, but I think the story that we're all gonna be talking about a week from now is that running game and how NC State couldn't get off the field, and just Tennessee kept moving the chains, getting first downs, and they had obviously pops over the top to get the win.
- 48:03SPEAKER_00: So give me the balls.
- 48:04SPEAKER_00: Uh, we will be there in person, very excited.
- 48:06SPEAKER_00: So, again, make sure you're tracking us on uh Facebook, Instagram.
- 48:10SPEAKER_00: We'll post some foot fun photographs, uh, three of us before the game.
- 48:13SPEAKER_00: We're leaving um from Mike's house at 7 a.m.
- 48:15SPEAKER_00: on Saturday.
- 48:16SPEAKER_00: So we're gonna be getting getting after it.
- 48:20SPEAKER_00: All right, we did all right that pod.
- 48:21SPEAKER_00: Uh any uh we know what do you any anything else?
- 48:24SPEAKER_00: Any good you want any games you want to throw in?
- 48:25SPEAKER_00: Any fun anecdotes?
- 48:26SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, look for the Kentucky Wildcats to scold drag um Shane Beamer's uh South Carolina Game Cox as well.
- 48:33SPEAKER_01: That's that is I think the spread was pretty low on that as well, but um, yeah, Kentucky's gonna dominate that game.
- 48:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and their game got called short because of that they beat Southern Miss.
- 48:42SPEAKER_00: And I I told folks to keep go look out for Brock Vanegriff, who I think is gonna be kind of under the radar great quarterback this season.
- 48:48SPEAKER_00: Um, the uh they they called that game due to lightning, so he was having a great game, would have had a much bigger game, but only had like two and a half quarters to play.
- 48:54SPEAKER_00: I'll throw another wild card in.
- 48:56SPEAKER_00: I'll give me uh give me Pitt Cincinnati.
- 48:58SPEAKER_00: Eli Holstein, the Alabama transfer, now Pitt's quarterback.
- 49:01SPEAKER_00: He played phenomenal against I think it was Kent State.
- 49:04SPEAKER_00: Uh he looked really, really good.
- 49:06SPEAKER_00: You Mike's an Arduozy guy, I'm an Arnozy Nardoozy guy.
- 49:10SPEAKER_00: Pitt is quietly put together really solid teams for league for a long time.
- 49:13SPEAKER_00: If they have a great quarterback, Pitt might make some noise this year.
- 49:17SPEAKER_00: So I'm I'm a little interested to see what I'm gonna see what um Eli Holstein is the Albano Transfer quarterback's name, see what he can do against the mighty Bearcats in Cincinnati.
- 49:27SPEAKER_00: So it's another throat uh power for opponent.
- 49:30SPEAKER_00: So we'll see about that.
- 49:31SPEAKER_00: Uh anything else for the good of your work?
- 49:34SPEAKER_00: That is it.
- 49:34SPEAKER_00: Let's go to Charlotte.
- 49:35SPEAKER_00: Let's go to Charlotte.
- 49:36SPEAKER_00: All right, folks, that's the end of the mic lift.
