- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up.
- 0:00Speaker 2: You're listening to four All Nerds. And on this episode,
- 0:02Speaker 2: we talked about episode five of Iron Heart, in which
- 0:06Speaker 2: White Castle tries to compete with waffle House.
- 0:10Speaker 3: For best fight ever.
- 0:25Speaker 4: The first thing that hit me on SO five was
- 0:28Speaker 4: that when they was first of all, this was the
- 0:30Speaker 4: Battle Royale in White Castle.
- 0:32Speaker 5: I was just I love that.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Okay, people have been upset about that.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Why well, like for people who have seen everything like us,
- 0:41Speaker 2: because that was like one of the things where they're
- 0:43Speaker 2: like this, they could have fought in I don't know,
- 0:45Speaker 2: the Chicago Fast Food or us that's in Chicago.
- 0:48Speaker 4: I mean it's also in New York. So yeah, that's
- 0:51Speaker 4: the thing. Are those people who were complaining from Chicago.
- 0:56Speaker 5: Then to fight?
- 0:57Speaker 4: And what's that the name of the hot spot?
- 1:00Speaker 5: Chicken?
- 1:01Speaker 1: Harold Chicken, Harold Chicken. Yeah, Harold don't have that much.
- 1:06Speaker 1: I've never been in Harolds. It's so good.
- 1:08Speaker 5: That's not what the was wrong with.
- 1:10Speaker 3: First of all, white cous will probably pay that bread to.
- 1:13Speaker 6: Get but let me, can I say something about this?
- 1:17Speaker 6: So I feel like, I don't know, white Castle kind
- 1:20Speaker 6: of screwed themselves because she throws up her White Castle.
- 1:26Speaker 6: I was like let's be real exactly, That's what I'm saying,
- 1:30Speaker 6: Like it's one or the other, it's gonna come out.
- 1:34Speaker 3: No shade, shade the white Castle. I grew up with
- 1:36Speaker 3: that white.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Castle as a Estonian dog. I never like white Castle
- 1:46Speaker 2: was saying that rappers talked about. That was not a
- 1:50Speaker 2: did you'll have a white house?
- 1:57Speaker 4: Maybe not you in Houston, but down sow they have
- 2:00Speaker 4: thing called crystals and the States, which is almost equivalent.
- 2:04Speaker 1: To we have water burger.
- 2:06Speaker 4: Yeah I'm not We're talking about very particular type of burger.
- 2:08Speaker 4: We're talking about that, well, not white Castle.
- 2:12Speaker 5: You know, we're talking about sliders.
- 2:14Speaker 7: Were talking about slag, But did y'all have sliders?
- 2:19Speaker 5: Did you have a place to have sliders?
- 2:21Speaker 2: No?
- 2:21Speaker 1: Nothing.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Sliders was the thing that like, it wasn't until like
- 2:25Speaker 2: very recently in my life that I was like, okay,
- 2:28Speaker 2: you know, like yeah, you know yeah.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Black castles up north of New York.
- 2:31Speaker 4: I didn't even realize they did it like that in
- 2:33Speaker 4: Chicago's When I saw it, I was like, well that's familiar,
- 2:35Speaker 4: but yeah, this fight happening, you know again, I felt like.
- 2:38Speaker 3: I was on a teching stage.
- 2:39Speaker 1: It was.
- 2:39Speaker 4: I loved it so random and like it was in
- 2:43Speaker 4: the neighborhood. It wasn't like some random set piece. It
- 2:47Speaker 4: wasn't on top of the tallest tower. It was on
- 2:51Speaker 4: the ground in a fucking restaurant that happened to be
- 2:54Speaker 4: on the strip where you be at.
- 2:55Speaker 3: Like that makes sense to me.
- 2:57Speaker 2: All white castles look alike to so like the one
- 2:59Speaker 2: that I've been in, you know, the same familion.
- 3:03Speaker 4: Familiarity to remember. I think I gotta say this, the
- 3:05Speaker 4: show is very black white. I'm not saying only white
- 3:08Speaker 4: black people go to White Castle because they love White
- 3:10Speaker 4: Castle in Japan, I'm gonna tell you that.
- 3:12Speaker 3: But black people know White Castle.
- 3:14Speaker 5: Okay.
- 3:15Speaker 4: When you see that, especially from a certain region anyway,
- 3:17Speaker 4: and when you see that ship.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Is like I know that I know that place. That's
- 3:22Speaker 3: for real.
- 3:22Speaker 6: The first time I had White Castle was I was
- 3:24Speaker 6: living I lived in Chicago. I used to work at
- 3:27Speaker 6: Best Buy and we used to have six am meetings
- 3:31Speaker 6: on Saturdays, and after those meetings we'd all go to
- 3:34Speaker 6: White Castle. So that definitely is a Chicago for your thing.
- 3:38Speaker 1: So it's you.
- 3:40Speaker 4: Said, after six am, whats they.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Was there in the morning? We were up in the morning.
- 3:46Speaker 2: We went to one get them breakfast sandwiches right there and.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Cheese burgers on your rings at six.
- 3:54Speaker 6: Am, seven eight, but not the best.
- 4:00Speaker 1: It was just funny that White Castle.
- 4:01Speaker 6: It was just like it was so it was it
- 4:03Speaker 6: was random, but it wasn't because it was just like, oh,
- 4:07Speaker 6: White Castle, you know what they're doing. They're ruining your
- 4:10Speaker 6: restaurant and the lead character is the lead character threw
- 4:15Speaker 6: up your food.
- 4:16Speaker 7: Were talking about it, but up some White Castle, right
- 4:20Speaker 7: I had weeks ago.
- 4:25Speaker 4: In fact, White Castle has become integral and pieces of
- 4:28Speaker 4: black culture because they helped the fund tew far so.
- 4:31Speaker 6: He really.
- 4:34Speaker 4: So yeah, you got to look at that story of
- 4:36Speaker 4: White Castle and how that came to be, like literally,
- 4:39Speaker 4: would you help?
- 4:40Speaker 3: And it was like.
- 4:41Speaker 5: That's dope, that's dope.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:43Speaker 7: I just remember like it just just as a kid
- 4:46Speaker 7: going to the White Castle on Boston Road in the
- 4:48Speaker 7: Bronx and you could just get what felt like mad
- 4:52Speaker 7: food because everything is tiny. It just felt like, yo,
- 4:54Speaker 7: we're about to have a feast.
- 4:56Speaker 5: I could get.
- 4:57Speaker 7: I could get more than French fries as a side.
- 5:00Speaker 1: I was so like, that's me.
- 5:02Speaker 2: But my first experience for White CAUs I was like,
- 5:03Speaker 2: what you know, they brought out sliders.
- 5:05Speaker 1: I was like, Okay, this is interesting.
- 5:07Speaker 5: That was nasty.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Well what By the time I ate White Castle, I
- 5:11Speaker 2: was only eating fish, so I think I had like, yeah,
- 5:13Speaker 2: they got fish.
- 5:14Speaker 5: They have a good fish sandwich, they got a fish fil.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Air, And I remember the frod. I wasn't like mad
- 5:20Speaker 1: at it.
- 5:20Speaker 2: No, I was not like, you know, I've only been
- 5:22Speaker 2: to like, you know, twice in my life, I think,
- 5:24Speaker 2: but you know, I wasn't mad at it.
- 5:26Speaker 7: Now that we're talking about this White Castle fight. So
- 5:29Speaker 7: I do want to correct myself last week when we
- 5:31Speaker 7: were talking about the siblings, the Blood siblings, I actually misgendered.
- 5:37Speaker 7: I was trying to say they for the most part,
- 5:38Speaker 7: I was trying to say they, but I know I
- 5:39Speaker 7: flubbed a few times. But Jerry Blood is actually trans
- 5:44Speaker 7: masculine in both real life. And yeah, they're non binary
- 5:49Speaker 7: trans masculine person. And I hear it in the and
- 5:52Speaker 7: maybe their pronouns were used before, but I heard, uh
- 5:56Speaker 7: Jerry referenced as him in the White Castle.
- 6:00Speaker 5: Uh yeah, so when.
- 6:06Speaker 7: Yeah, but when rise when when when they go into
- 6:09Speaker 7: the into the White Castle, Jerry is like, all right,
- 6:11Speaker 7: everybody out, you know, we're closed or whatever, and then
- 6:14Speaker 7: when they don't leave, is like he said get out
- 6:18Speaker 7: or he said they're closed. But a lot of us
- 6:21Speaker 7: use multiple pronouns or whatever.
- 6:22Speaker 2: That's right, Yeah, okay, because that's something that like even
- 6:25Speaker 2: with uh, the one from magic Board, like they were
- 6:28Speaker 2: introduced as they and then at one point I heard
- 6:31Speaker 2: someone say get off her or she needs to do this.
- 6:34Speaker 5: Yeah, a lot of us use multiple pronouns.
- 6:37Speaker 7: I'm she they when somebody days me, I feel warm
- 6:40Speaker 7: and fuzzy and cozy inside or whatever, you know what
- 6:42Speaker 7: I'm saying, Like it's it's a it's a very important thing.
- 6:45Speaker 7: So it's not uncommon to use flex pronouns.
- 6:49Speaker 1: It's not as many people as I can, just because you.
- 6:52Speaker 7: Know, yeah, I try to do right, Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 6:57Speaker 7: yeah for sure. So I tried to do that last week.
- 6:59Speaker 7: But I think there was a time where I missgendered them.
- 7:02Speaker 7: So I want to mention that. And and then I
- 7:04Speaker 7: in my research of this in the comics, are they
- 7:08Speaker 7: you want to talk about them in in the comics
- 7:10Speaker 7: a little bit?
- 7:10Speaker 5: Are they brothers?
- 7:13Speaker 1: And I guess they're aliens, you know, like be you know.
- 7:18Speaker 5: Who knows I saw them. I saw them referenced repeatedly
- 7:22Speaker 5: as brothers, So I.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Thought they call the Brothers. Chad called the Blood Siblings. Yeah,
- 7:27Speaker 2: I mean, but they're aliens.
- 7:29Speaker 1: You know, who knows?
- 7:30Speaker 2: They're red skinned aliens. They were created by Jim Starling
- 7:34Speaker 2: and they're very much alien. They don't ever, as far
- 7:37Speaker 2: as I know, even interact with anyone on Earth. So
- 7:40Speaker 2: they pretty much just took the name and you know,
- 7:41Speaker 2: use it on other characters. Gotcha, And I've seen that,
- 7:45Speaker 2: I'm not I've seen two sides of the story, so
- 7:48Speaker 2: I don't know which one is true. Because in the
- 7:51Speaker 2: slug is from Mad and in the comics there is
- 7:54Speaker 2: one slug that I know of who is this giant,
- 7:56Speaker 2: fat white man who is a crime boss and fought
- 8:00Speaker 2: with Captain America and Captain America's uh side kid named Nomad,
- 8:05Speaker 2: and when I knew them, but then someone said that
- 8:07Speaker 2: there's another slug in the comics who this one is
- 8:10Speaker 2: based off of.
- 8:11Speaker 1: I'm not one hundred percent sure.
- 8:12Speaker 2: I don't know if they just took the white Man's
- 8:14Speaker 2: slug and flipped it like they did with the Blood Brothers,
- 8:16Speaker 2: or there's another slug that is based off of I'm
- 8:19Speaker 2: not that there was.
- 8:21Speaker 4: There was an exchange in the White Castle again, which
- 8:24Speaker 4: I thought, again just the social commentary of the show,
- 8:27Speaker 4: whether that over or not. When the we just said
- 8:31Speaker 4: the siblings, they were saying, you know, when you know
- 8:34Speaker 4: the news comes and they talk about your death, and
- 8:36Speaker 4: and Reeve said, my death won't.
- 8:38Speaker 5: Make the news.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I was like, like for her to have to
- 8:41Speaker 3: say that.
- 8:41Speaker 4: And then again that's when it came back again from me,
- 8:44Speaker 4: Jen he said, when you keep talking about how we
- 8:46Speaker 4: get to remember she's a child, She's a child. That's
- 8:48Speaker 4: when it came back for a child to be saying
- 8:50Speaker 4: that I'm black child.
- 8:52Speaker 2: That he's saying, I was like, ugh, Like that also
- 8:54Speaker 2: says something to how much people know about her as ironheart,
- 8:58Speaker 2: you know, like we were saying, I don't think the
- 9:00Speaker 2: whole Conda stuff is very well know, that's not if
- 9:03Speaker 2: it was known, like you know, like the Avengers are
- 9:05Speaker 2: known that fought off Thanos or fought off the thing
- 9:07Speaker 2: in New York, I think more people would know about
- 9:10Speaker 2: her dying in a white castle.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Right, And she's a genius.
- 9:13Speaker 6: I think, yeah, yeah, that's true what you say, Chris
- 9:17Speaker 6: about it was a genius.
- 9:19Speaker 1: You know, no genius is getting killed in the White Castle.
- 9:22Speaker 1: But not make the news. I don't know.
- 9:23Speaker 6: I mean, she wasn't she a Scott What about the
- 9:25Speaker 6: like is it the episode one or two?
- 9:27Speaker 2: She's a black genius? Still, like, black girl gets shot
- 9:32Speaker 2: in white Castle.
- 9:33Speaker 7: I think it would make it would make the local.
- 9:37Speaker 7: It would make the local black paper for sure. But yeah,
- 9:41Speaker 7: so she's she's also witnessed so many people die that
- 9:45Speaker 7: she knows how that goes.
- 9:47Speaker 1: She had made the news right.
- 9:49Speaker 7: It spoke to her relationship with death as a black
- 9:52Speaker 7: girl from Chicago living in Chicago, which.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Is Heregarian, Natalie didn't make the news right.
- 9:59Speaker 4: And and and that I everything y'all just said I
- 10:01Speaker 4: just thought about in that moment. And then that also
- 10:03Speaker 4: made it hard to take use like she was just
- 10:05Speaker 4: telling her truth and I was just like, fuck for
- 10:07Speaker 4: you to have to even deal with that thought, which
- 10:09Speaker 4: is what we deal with all the time as black
- 10:11Speaker 4: people in America.
- 10:12Speaker 1: So I did.
- 10:15Speaker 2: And before we get I mean, we were talking about it,
- 10:17Speaker 2: but like one thing we didn't talk about was the
- 10:19Speaker 2: two fights. Well before the two fights is dimension of
- 10:21Speaker 2: Dormammu in the scene, and you know, Zelma was saying
- 10:25Speaker 2: that it's Dormamu who's controlling everything or behind the hood.
- 10:29Speaker 2: And what did y'all feel about that?
- 10:31Speaker 3: I thought it was funny because we know that's not
- 10:32Speaker 3: the case. I already knew her jumping. I'm like, that's
- 10:35Speaker 3: not fucking Dormamu. Like we trained dealt with Dormama already.
- 10:39Speaker 3: He played his ass.
- 10:40Speaker 4: Yeah, how many times he did that that scene over
- 10:43Speaker 4: and over again against him, Remember in the movie where
- 10:46Speaker 4: he just kept bargaining with him, like literally maybe nine
- 10:50Speaker 4: hundred and ninety nine thousand times or.
- 10:52Speaker 3: Some shit like that.
- 10:53Speaker 4: He already played his ass and Dormama say, get the
- 10:55Speaker 4: fuck out of my house. So we knew Dormamu had
- 10:57Speaker 4: nothing to do with this. I did anyway, dor.
- 10:59Speaker 7: Mamu look like a nigga in one of those hotel pamphlets.
- 11:03Speaker 5: That's how deep the hotel bullshit can get.
- 11:06Speaker 7: Where you annually, where you're not looking at a comic book,
- 11:08Speaker 7: you're looking at her for real as black fucking literature. Okay,
- 11:12Speaker 7: and it's fucking black people passing these fucking pamphlets around
- 11:16Speaker 7: with aliens and shit in them.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Okay, anyway, coming soon, Oh oh.
- 11:24Speaker 1: God, we got pat that.
- 11:28Speaker 4: But I just want to get back and I'm going
- 11:30Speaker 4: to fast forward a bit just so that we can
- 11:31Speaker 4: get through. But really like it was several things that
- 11:34Speaker 4: other things and more like these realization points right cause
- 11:36Speaker 4: Brand and the heroes.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Are this episode we need to talk about.
- 11:40Speaker 4: Yeah, some big so we talked so you mentioned it earlier, Well, no,
- 11:43Speaker 4: maybe a few EPs ago. He was just like, you know,
- 11:44Speaker 4: the mom asked, why are you doing this irons man
- 11:47Speaker 4: suit and the iron suit?
- 11:48Speaker 3: Excuse me?
- 11:49Speaker 4: And Rev says, because I could, And then you know,
- 11:51Speaker 4: she makes sure dig deeper. And that's what we're seeing
- 11:53Speaker 4: that happened over and over this episode where it's just
- 11:55Speaker 4: like like Rea Re.
- 11:57Speaker 3: Again, she's going through so much.
- 11:58Speaker 4: Yes, she's a child, and it's so much to calculate
- 12:02Speaker 4: and interrogate in her mind, in her in her spirit
- 12:05Speaker 4: about everything happening, and it's stuff that she still has
- 12:07Speaker 4: not come to turns. But she has not come to
- 12:09Speaker 4: terms with the death of her stepfather, the death of
- 12:12Speaker 4: her best friend, the way that whole shit happened, which
- 12:15Speaker 4: was traumatic. She has not come to terms with none
- 12:17Speaker 4: of that shit and allowed herself to heal from or
- 12:20Speaker 4: even begin to heal from.
- 12:21Speaker 3: At least that's how I see.
- 12:22Speaker 4: She's still suffering deeply from it and she actually when
- 12:26Speaker 4: her mother like kind of pushes her to talk a
- 12:28Speaker 4: little bit more, she goes into why she what she says,
- 12:31Speaker 4: the reason why she wanted it when she says, you know,
- 12:33Speaker 4: the paramedics came one minute too late, and if I
- 12:35Speaker 4: was able to you know, they was there right, because
- 12:37Speaker 4: remember that's her premise. When she talks to the MIT people,
- 12:40Speaker 4: they said, well why are you doing this? They said,
- 12:41Speaker 4: this is going to revolutionize, you know, the the medical industry,
- 12:44Speaker 4: or does no one to revolutionize emergency care and all
- 12:47Speaker 4: that stuff. It's really because that was her way. She
- 12:49Speaker 4: can't turn change time she needed. She wanted to save them,
- 12:53Speaker 4: and this is her, I guess, retroactive way of potentially
- 12:56Speaker 4: being able to do something to say them, Like Reebe's
- 12:59Speaker 4: whole thing is about I need to do something I can,
- 13:03Speaker 4: so I should, and in that moment she couldn't. So
- 13:06Speaker 4: now she's been reconciling with that thought for so long
- 13:10Speaker 4: since that happened, don't I'm not quite sure when that
- 13:12Speaker 4: that that incident happened, but she's been reconciling with that
- 13:16Speaker 4: this whole time, on top of being at war and
- 13:18Speaker 4: this and this and that. So I just think, like
- 13:20Speaker 4: you you see that happening a lot this episode, like
- 13:25Speaker 4: towards This is also episode where her mom brings her
- 13:28Speaker 4: back to the garage and you know, Natalie Ai shows
- 13:32Speaker 4: her that imagery, that video of when Reebe was a
- 13:35Speaker 4: child dancing with her father, you know, having the good times,
- 13:38Speaker 4: and you.
- 13:38Speaker 3: See Reevee's like turn that shit off. At first, she don't.
- 13:40Speaker 4: Even want to deal with it again, just not being
- 13:43Speaker 4: able to come to terms that it's too hurtful, it's
- 13:46Speaker 4: too much, but then being able to sit with it,
- 13:48Speaker 4: go ahead.
- 13:49Speaker 1: I think that's the best scene in this show.
- 13:51Speaker 4: Yeah, it's beautiful, it's it's incredible.
- 13:54Speaker 6: And that's a great that's a great needle drop with
- 13:56Speaker 6: that that Leon Bridges and I think maybe you guys
- 13:59Speaker 6: might have touched on a previous episode, but like the
- 14:02Speaker 6: needle drops on here are really great too. And I
- 14:05Speaker 6: I really I'm a sucker for dad stuff, especially after
- 14:10Speaker 6: my dad died. But like that was just a pure
- 14:13Speaker 6: moment with a black man and his kid. That's powerful
- 14:18Speaker 6: and her and like Tatiana, like you mentioned her not
- 14:21Speaker 6: wanting to deal with it and Natalie saying, hey, no,
- 14:24Speaker 6: you gotta you have to face this. You have to
- 14:27Speaker 6: see this because if you forget what did she say?
- 14:31Speaker 6: What's I forget the.
- 14:31Speaker 3: Line, but don't want to forget this.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Right, it's a powerful scene.
- 14:36Speaker 6: And it's like and I think and and to our
- 14:39Speaker 6: discussion about the emotional intelligence, I think that's where the
- 14:43Speaker 6: shift is. And then that's where you see the you
- 14:47Speaker 6: see community come in, you see all that, all that,
- 14:51Speaker 6: all that, those really great montages. But I think that's
- 14:54Speaker 6: where you see her shift. I think that's where you
- 14:56Speaker 6: see her actually come to a realization to want to
- 15:02Speaker 6: do better until his episode six. But you know, like
- 15:05Speaker 6: I really thought that was a powerful scene.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Now I second, dad, I thought it was very powerful scene.
- 15:11Speaker 2: And again this shows said when people have these criticisms
- 15:14Speaker 2: of the show where they're like it's not well, wait,
- 15:15Speaker 2: it's not well directed. I'm gonna look at this montage
- 15:18Speaker 2: just really incredibly well done. Having all these characters come
- 15:22Speaker 2: back around, who were you know, some of them were introduced,
- 15:25Speaker 2: like the little boy in the first episode, and to
- 15:27Speaker 2: have him come back around and be part of this
- 15:29Speaker 2: community that uplift three read and just to show the
- 15:32Speaker 2: blackness and that you know, of a black community coming together,
- 15:36Speaker 2: like you said, the black dad with his daughter I mean,
- 15:39Speaker 2: the super emotional just everything was I thought that was
- 15:43Speaker 2: also great and also a really great contrast to one
- 15:49Speaker 2: of my big problems with this episode and how.
- 15:53Speaker 1: The Hood deals with his community. But I'll get to
- 15:57Speaker 1: that in a second.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Less anyone else had anything else to say on that
- 16:00Speaker 2: montage scene and all that.
- 16:03Speaker 1: That's where I keep going.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Then all right, well this is where you know me
- 16:06Speaker 2: and said definitely had you know, disagreemental discussions about last
- 16:11Speaker 2: week how to queer representation is on this show and
- 16:17Speaker 2: this episode where when I was like, well, we could
- 16:19Speaker 2: have saved some of that criticism, because this is where
- 16:20Speaker 2: I fully agree with you, Like my Manhood just basically
- 16:23Speaker 2: puts the whole queer contingent on the elevator and sends
- 16:25Speaker 2: them away and they do not return.
- 16:28Speaker 4: I'm laughing because it was like I was rolling on
- 16:32Speaker 4: my second rewatch.
- 16:33Speaker 2: That's when I realized this ship. I'm like, wait a minute,
- 16:36Speaker 2: they're not an episode sick. The last we see him
- 16:39Speaker 2: is get on this elevator pof.
- 16:42Speaker 4: All of y'all tries on his fit and he says
- 16:45Speaker 4: that was the last fucking straw for him.
- 16:46Speaker 3: He said, fuck noah. It was like a Martin episode
- 16:49Speaker 3: where he.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Goes, now get the stepping, like.
- 16:55Speaker 3: Fucking kicked them all the fuck out and said.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Jackal, and they don't like, they don't show up again
- 17:01Speaker 2: to help out reread nothing.
- 17:03Speaker 1: You know, it's just like, get the funk out of
- 17:05Speaker 1: this series. You literally do.
- 17:07Speaker 3: Not see them again.
- 17:09Speaker 4: Literally they even show like at the clown presses the button,
- 17:12Speaker 4: they show the slow mold.
- 17:18Speaker 5: That's enough of that.
- 17:21Speaker 2: And again I have to agree with you, Jay, because
- 17:23Speaker 2: like a lot of the marketing has featured them so
- 17:26Speaker 2: prominently where it's really ridiculous that they get sent away
- 17:30Speaker 2: like this and how they've been dealt with throughout this
- 17:32Speaker 2: whole series. So yeah, I was like, we could have
- 17:34Speaker 2: saved that, because you know, it wholeheartedly deserved it in
- 17:39Speaker 2: that moment.
- 17:39Speaker 5: That was well it deserved it when I said it.
- 17:41Speaker 7: But but yes, everybody else, everybody saw it. That was
- 17:45Speaker 7: a that was a physical, physical manifestation of that, especially
- 17:49Speaker 7: with the elevator clothes.
- 17:51Speaker 1: It was like you see on their faces staring ahead,
- 17:54Speaker 1: and it's.
- 17:55Speaker 4: Just like I was just like, like, like I said,
- 17:58Speaker 4: the second watch, I was laughing, like, dam they ceremoniously
- 18:01Speaker 4: ushered them out text.
- 18:04Speaker 1: They don't show up again.
- 18:06Speaker 5: And I was just like clown on his face.
- 18:09Speaker 2: Keep it was also Clown investigating him, you know, because
- 18:15Speaker 2: Clown starts looking into the whole rampage thing and questions him.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Yeah, now I do the character.
- 18:21Speaker 5: I love her character, Clown Clown to the end Rider died.
- 18:25Speaker 1: All right, Yeah, well, you know, also trying to blow
- 18:29Speaker 1: up in his episode.
- 18:30Speaker 7: She thought she thought that re Re killed She was
- 18:33Speaker 7: told that re Re killed John. She's a writer, you
- 18:37Speaker 7: know what I'm saying.
- 18:38Speaker 5: And job, she's a like and she wrote she wrote
- 18:47Speaker 5: that whole We didn't we didn't mention this.
- 18:48Speaker 7: But quickly in episode five, we see her have a code,
- 18:52Speaker 7: you know what I'm saying, because yeah, because she's asked
- 18:55Speaker 7: about that white man if he killed Red.
- 18:59Speaker 5: Yeah, it is asking and she co signs it. And
- 19:02Speaker 5: she knows she watched re walk away alive.
- 19:04Speaker 7: Yeah, but she's still she knows something weird is up.
- 19:07Speaker 7: This is when her antennas go up. This is when
- 19:09Speaker 7: it's like, Okay, this is not really what I thought
- 19:11Speaker 7: it was. This man is not who I thought he was.
- 19:14Speaker 7: And so you know, we get into the bottom of
- 19:16Speaker 7: things or whatever.
- 19:17Speaker 1: I think it's enjoys abusive relationships because she burned up.
- 19:23Speaker 7: You're gonna make me say something I didn't want to say.
- 19:25Speaker 7: I'm gonna have to say it now. I'm gonna have
- 19:27Speaker 7: to say it.
- 19:28Speaker 5: Well, first, say what you mean real quick?
- 19:30Speaker 1: I mean, she burned up her excess car. She's definitely
- 19:32Speaker 1: that type of you.
- 19:33Speaker 7: Know, we don't know what happened with that relationship, but
- 19:37Speaker 7: that toxic. Sure, anything that ends in that kind of
- 19:40Speaker 7: violence is toxic. But we also don't know what she
- 19:42Speaker 7: was getting her lock back for. You know what I'm saying.
- 19:43Speaker 1: I know that I'm not saying it. I'm just saying, yeah, sure, sure.
- 19:49Speaker 5: Lots of us have been in toxic relationship we have, right.
- 19:52Speaker 2: And lots of don't burn up cars. But I also
- 19:54Speaker 2: think that just John banging her head into the thing,
- 19:56Speaker 2: that that's where I'm kind of like you drew the
- 19:59Speaker 2: line like brother or cold or not like John.
- 20:02Speaker 1: You know, physically abused you. Like That's where I'm like, nah,
- 20:06Speaker 1: you don't you know like fuck that, you know, like.
- 20:08Speaker 3: You also know how abuse works, right, Yeah, that's.
- 20:11Speaker 1: What I mean.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Like, and that's what that's what I say about clown
- 20:14Speaker 2: where it's like and that's what I also said about
- 20:16Speaker 2: the crew. They were also a crew who was willing
- 20:18Speaker 2: to go along with that. That's not what Tatiana was
- 20:21Speaker 2: saying about it, But that's what I'm saying. But say
- 20:25Speaker 2: what you're saying about abuse and how abuse works.
- 20:27Speaker 4: Well, just in the fact that, like I know what
- 20:29Speaker 4: you said, Like yes, from a logic one point one
- 20:31Speaker 4: equals two perspective, someone bangs your head into the floor,
- 20:34Speaker 4: you would be.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Like fuck that.
- 20:35Speaker 3: But that's not how that works in that type of relationship.
- 20:38Speaker 4: If and again, if we don't know all the details
- 20:40Speaker 4: about Clown, but in that type of situation, and particularly
- 20:43Speaker 4: when you are the victim in that situation, you're not
- 20:45Speaker 4: going to see it in that light.
- 20:46Speaker 3: You're not that that that that doesn't equate to you.
- 20:49Speaker 4: If anything, that I'm not even gonna say what she
- 20:51Speaker 4: may have even taken that ass But the point is
- 20:53Speaker 4: that that did come to the same conclusion that you did,
- 20:57Speaker 4: but not in that type of relationship because because it
- 20:59Speaker 4: could have been a higher deeper relationship.
- 21:01Speaker 3: Than you knew of and she's going to give what
- 21:04Speaker 3: you would see as a past.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Or something like that.
- 21:06Speaker 2: But that's what That's exactly what I am saying. But
- 21:08Speaker 2: I also do say that Clown had a problem with
- 21:11Speaker 2: it earlier. You know, she addressed John, she was like, Yo,
- 21:13Speaker 2: this fucked up.
- 21:14Speaker 1: You know. So that's why I'm like her, She's I
- 21:19Speaker 1: don't I just don't know exactly where she was. Like.
- 21:21Speaker 2: I get she defended Rere in that moment, but I
- 21:24Speaker 2: also don't understand why she didn't, you know.
- 21:27Speaker 1: More so, you know, have an issue with the whole
- 21:29Speaker 1: crew as it is.
- 21:30Speaker 5: I'm gonna say it. I think we're being hard on
- 21:32Speaker 5: her because she's a black girl.
- 21:34Speaker 7: I think that that's I think that that's the association
- 21:38Speaker 7: of her as Yeah, I think we're being she of
- 21:42Speaker 7: all the characters, right, of all those villains right in
- 21:47Speaker 7: or we'll call them villains, Of all the villains in
- 21:49Speaker 7: that crew, she is the one that we get the
- 21:52Speaker 7: most amount of nuance and depth with, And I feel
- 21:56Speaker 7: I just don't see how somebody could how we can
- 22:00Speaker 7: see her as I don't know she was To me,
- 22:04Speaker 7: she was the most humanized, at least the way that
- 22:06Speaker 7: she was written, she was the most humanized.
- 22:08Speaker 5: She was given the most depth.
- 22:10Speaker 7: And it feels like talking about her, not that we
- 22:14Speaker 7: should not talk about black girls black villains as villains, right,
- 22:17Speaker 7: but I feel like we're being a little bit heavy handed,
- 22:20Speaker 7: and I feel like we're being heavy handed because she's
- 22:21Speaker 7: a black girl. Well this is I'm Chris, I'm talking
- 22:27Speaker 7: about We talked about this last episode together as well.
- 22:30Speaker 5: It's not just this episode.
- 22:31Speaker 6: From this though, I'll say that they're the henchmen, and
- 22:35Speaker 6: I think there a lot of them are talented. I
- 22:38Speaker 6: think this Sonya Denise, who played Clown, was just good
- 22:44Speaker 6: because when I saw that moment, that moment when when
- 22:47Speaker 6: Parker was questioning them, and I was like because because
- 22:51Speaker 6: in that moment, I was like, oh shit, he knows
- 22:52Speaker 6: it's something. He knows that she's still alive. And then
- 22:55Speaker 6: when she said, yeah, we took care of her and
- 22:57Speaker 6: we did this and we did that, and like, did
- 23:00Speaker 6: he believe that?
- 23:01Speaker 1: I don't know, but.
- 23:04Speaker 3: Go ahead, sorry you were talking.
- 23:06Speaker 6: I think these are I think sending them down the elevator,
- 23:09Speaker 6: I think it's just like a weird way of getting
- 23:13Speaker 6: rid of the quote unquote bumbling henchmen. Where I thought
- 23:18Speaker 6: that White Castle scene was pretty compelling, the way she
- 23:21Speaker 6: eluded them and everything, and I was happy that she.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Made, you know, light work of them into a to
- 23:27Speaker 1: a certain degree. But those are the quintessential benchmen people buy.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I personally like I didn't. I wasn't tough for
- 23:43Speaker 3: none of them.
- 23:43Speaker 4: I was just like that they are who they are,
- 23:45Speaker 4: and they were chosen for their skill set in crime.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 23:50Speaker 4: At the end of the day, I felt that clown, yes,
- 23:53Speaker 4: she may have exhibited the most, was written anyway to
- 23:56Speaker 4: exhibit the most out of all of them in terms
- 23:58Speaker 4: of humanity. At the same time, she was also written,
- 24:01Speaker 4: in my view, to be a pyromaniac and an anarchist. Yeah,
- 24:05Speaker 4: and whe whether whatever you feel about anarchy is, you know,
- 24:08Speaker 4: everybody else's business.
- 24:09Speaker 3: But like me, I'm just like, Okay, Crime's great plug.
- 24:14Speaker 4: They off the bat, they said, I'm from madrophor Madrophort
- 24:18Speaker 4: is basically a land of villains.
- 24:21Speaker 3: So I just thought, okay, Crime.
- 24:24Speaker 4: And then the Twins or the Tiplings, all they wanted
- 24:28Speaker 4: to do was fucking have a fight club.
- 24:30Speaker 1: They were found a club and they wanted to build
- 24:33Speaker 1: another fight club.
- 24:34Speaker 4: At least they're consistent. But even in a little bit
- 24:38Speaker 4: of backstory, we got they was doing this ship illegally.
- 24:41Speaker 3: Crime, So all I saw was henchman.
- 24:44Speaker 4: Yeah, it's not fair necessarily, because again, this was all
- 24:48Speaker 4: concentrated within a queer group of people.
- 24:51Speaker 3: But that's what I got.
- 24:53Speaker 7: From yeah, And I think for me, the distinction comes
- 24:57Speaker 7: when we start talking about like somebody's character versus them
- 25:00Speaker 7: being a criminal, versus them being because I feel like
- 25:02Speaker 7: what we were shown about.
- 25:04Speaker 5: Her character is that her character is bigger.
- 25:07Speaker 7: And broader and more expansive and nuanced than just being
- 25:10Speaker 7: a henchman. And what some of the conversation has been
- 25:13Speaker 7: in the last review and a little bit of this
- 25:15Speaker 7: one is about her character. And that's when it starts
- 25:18Speaker 7: to feel like we're being a little heavy handed with
- 25:20Speaker 7: her because she's a black girl.
- 25:22Speaker 2: And I want to move on, but I just say, well,
- 25:25Speaker 2: I will agree to disagree here because I don't feel
- 25:28Speaker 2: like I'm being heavy handed on her because she's a
- 25:29Speaker 2: black girl. I just think that her I'm asking a question,
- 25:32Speaker 2: like her character is very interesting to me, Like John
- 25:34Speaker 2: beats on her, but then she's willing to blow up
- 25:36Speaker 2: reread over John, and that's you know, that's interesting. That's like, yeah,
- 25:44Speaker 2: and I said that last week. I don't like that comparison,
- 25:49Speaker 2: and I don't like the term reprimanded.
- 25:51Speaker 5: But I don't like I don't like that shit either
- 25:56Speaker 5: I want I don't like it.
- 26:00Speaker 7: I was told parallels, I believe, I believe, Yes, I
- 26:04Speaker 7: believe it's a bad I believe it's a bad.
- 26:06Speaker 5: Productive it's a productive comparison.
- 26:08Speaker 6: I would you can you can still just because just
- 26:12Speaker 6: because a character is a bad person or a criminal.
- 26:16Speaker 6: It's the same way we we we liked Walter White,
- 26:19Speaker 6: we lost, we liked Tony Soprano.
- 26:22Speaker 1: Not not the same who is.
- 26:35Speaker 3: Jamie Lanister? And he would have been on your side.
- 26:37Speaker 6: I'm sorry I didn't watch that show, but the same,
- 26:41Speaker 6: But the same way critics lauded Omar or any of
- 26:47Speaker 6: these characters that were considered bad who were breaking rules. Yes, okay,
- 26:53Speaker 6: so you can have empathy for them, you can have
- 26:55Speaker 6: compassion for him. It's a testament to the work that
- 26:59Speaker 6: these acts are doing. It's not you can you can
- 27:02Speaker 6: feel everybody has team this person, team that person. But
- 27:06Speaker 6: it's these characters in the world of this show really
- 27:12Speaker 6: is the hero. These other people.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Are are not.
- 27:18Speaker 5: Thank you, thank you Chris. You know.
- 27:25Speaker 1: I said it's not right. I said that it's not
- 27:32Speaker 1: called that you can like.
- 27:34Speaker 6: I like my favor the best to me, one of
- 27:36Speaker 6: the best actors on the show Manny Montana cousin John
- 27:41Speaker 6: a bad guy not a good guy episode.
- 27:44Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I guess you just again quickly close this
- 27:49Speaker 3: out this episode. Uh, that's this. We also see them.
- 27:53Speaker 4: She gets to rebuild the iron Heart suit with the
- 27:56Speaker 4: dad's I don't know what kind of card is that?
- 27:57Speaker 5: A Camaro?
- 27:58Speaker 3: Whatever that car is.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Rod the man we're supposed to be like, Oh, I
- 28:05Speaker 1: I can tell you how to fix a steak, but
- 28:07Speaker 1: I don't know about that. I can change a tire, Yeah,
- 28:10Speaker 1: I can do that. That's about it.
- 28:11Speaker 3: Great, great, no maxillating please.
- 28:14Speaker 2: Uh.
- 28:15Speaker 4: They imbue the ironheartsuit with magic, which accidentally racist Natalie a. I.
- 28:20Speaker 4: Parker's dad is a horrible, no good, very bad man
- 28:24Speaker 4: on top of any things.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I want to mention that real quick.
- 28:28Speaker 5: Yeah it looks great, yeah.
- 28:31Speaker 4: Right, and dressed down, but it is not quite the
- 28:35Speaker 4: best father. Because that's what you said we said early.
- 28:37Speaker 5: No, no, no, you're talking about re Resood, right, he
- 28:39Speaker 5: wasn't talking about was incredible. Nobody remembers what that man
- 28:46Speaker 5: was wearing.
- 28:47Speaker 1: I remember that.
- 28:51Speaker 5: He's a horrible father.
- 28:52Speaker 7: Let's talk about the dad for a time. That get Yeah,
- 28:56Speaker 7: we meet him in five. We meet him five him,
- 28:59Speaker 7: this is one thing.
- 29:00Speaker 3: And the interaction happens with Parker, Yeah, oh no, you're.
- 29:03Speaker 1: Right, and I have I have, I have my notes.
- 29:05Speaker 2: When he has an orgasm when he sits down in
- 29:07Speaker 2: his dad's chair, Oh my god, I mean he did, yo,
- 29:10Speaker 2: he had a real visible reaction to sitting in that
- 29:12Speaker 2: man's chair.
- 29:12Speaker 3: It was it was because he got everything he asked for.
- 29:16Speaker 5: Thought but on the second second, watch it again.
- 29:19Speaker 1: Second came on my second watched it the second time.
- 29:25Speaker 3: The third time, he's like, he does, Chris, Chris, I
- 29:29Speaker 3: want to go to you real quick.
- 29:30Speaker 4: Because you said this earlier about trauma being a very
- 29:33Speaker 4: center point of this series. We see the trauma front
- 29:36Speaker 4: and center, with his dad not giving a fuck about
- 29:38Speaker 4: Parker since he was twelve. Apparently after the mom died,
- 29:42Speaker 4: he said, I never really liked you anyway, nigga, get
- 29:45Speaker 4: the fuck.
- 29:45Speaker 1: Out my house.
- 29:47Speaker 4: So dynamic was way and I'm just like, is this
- 29:50Speaker 4: the Disney thing where they just like all the parents
- 29:52Speaker 4: are trash like it's so fucked up.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Yeah, it's. It gives you a reason his he's for
- 30:01Speaker 1: why he is the way he is, or at least
- 30:03Speaker 1: one of them.
- 30:04Speaker 6: His dad didn't love him, and he never got that
- 30:07Speaker 6: acceptance because he wanted to be stupid, dumb, rich, empower,
- 30:12Speaker 6: he nasty, crazy. I ain't never heard that that was
- 30:19Speaker 6: that was that was a lot, but you know he
- 30:24Speaker 6: wanted so just it was just a testament to that's
- 30:29Speaker 6: that's the reason why he is the way he is
- 30:31Speaker 6: and making him a super villain, his evil ass dad.
- 30:37Speaker 7: I want to know if they get tired of looking
- 30:40Speaker 7: alike in real life. Okay, they look like family. And
- 30:44Speaker 7: from the moment we saw that man's face because they
- 30:47Speaker 7: flashed to his face in an earlier episode, I'm like,
- 30:51Speaker 7: so that's his.
- 30:52Speaker 5: Dad, So I know immediately, yes, yes, you have him.
- 30:58Speaker 7: As I said last episode, you have thehood walking around
- 31:00Speaker 7: with his African face and hiss.
- 31:03Speaker 1: Then you show.
- 31:07Speaker 7: Right African, but it's this it's an African face that
- 31:10Speaker 7: he has. Then you have his black dad show up.
- 31:13Speaker 7: This is the only black dad outside OF's dad who
- 31:15Speaker 7: shows up. Well, he's a black man. He's an older
- 31:17Speaker 7: black man with freckles. I'm like, oh, Dad, I knew
- 31:20Speaker 7: immediately that was his dad. Uh And then yeah, and
- 31:24Speaker 7: then he shows up. They need I need to see
- 31:25Speaker 7: them in a full separate series. B Dad and and
- 31:28Speaker 7: father because that was excellent casting.
- 31:32Speaker 3: It was he is Puerto Rican and of African indigenous descent, so.
- 31:37Speaker 5: Well he has a whole African face.
- 31:38Speaker 1: So yes, I'm about the dad.
- 31:41Speaker 7: I know.
- 31:41Speaker 1: I know you're right, Yeah, has.
- 31:46Speaker 5: An African face.
- 31:47Speaker 1: Yeah, but they do look until you pointed it.
- 31:50Speaker 5: Out, they do.
- 31:53Speaker 3: No, You're absolutely right.
- 31:55Speaker 1: I hate involved with you know it? Bro? Yeah? Damn
- 32:02Speaker 1: like hate pure Yeah. Okay, Well where y'all like y'all
- 32:09Speaker 1: like Hamilton.
- 32:10Speaker 7: No, I just want to know. I want to see
- 32:11Speaker 7: your resume and all the places that you work, because
- 32:13Speaker 7: I'm sure it's places that are questionable on this what
- 32:16Speaker 7: I'm saying.
- 32:17Speaker 1: I mean, you know, I'm saying water.
- 32:20Speaker 2: From where I got to work cake, you know, like
- 32:23Speaker 2: that off of you know, something like that. I can
- 32:26Speaker 2: say that profounding you know, and you know, hey, how
