Big changes are coming to Olathe’s traffic arteries as city and state teams prep to rebuild I-35 between Old 56 and 119th Street—and tackle Santa Fe Street from Ridgeview to Mur-Len. This major overhaul aims to slash congestion, upgrade aging infrastructure, and improve access to the interstate. Some buildings are already gone, land acquisition is ongoing, and utility work has begun—with construction on I-35 expected by year’s end and Santa Fe Street starting late 2027.
