- 0:14Speaker 2: your wife with a woman who's cheating on her husband,
- 0:17Speaker 2: then she seats on you as another man to show
- 0:19Speaker 2: you a security deposit.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Juck Mathews is here to untangle the weds. We weave Man.
- 0:24Speaker 3: If you steal an angel statue from your landlord's house,
- 0:29Speaker 3: can you.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Sue you for it? Judge Alex tells us real people
- 0:32Speaker 1: O cases, Thank Justice.
- 0:33Speaker 2: This is.
- 0:38Speaker 1: We're back.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Huh gavel gabble. I'm seeing gabble new studio. Hey, be
- 0:44Speaker 2: honest with me. Uh, I don't know how long we've
- 0:49Speaker 2: been gonead did we.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Miss an episode last week?
- 0:51Speaker 2: I think we missed it week off, we took a
- 0:55Speaker 2: week new move in Hyah.
- 0:57Speaker 3: It feels like we haven't done this and it feels
- 0:59Speaker 3: like it's a while. So it was really great to
- 1:01Speaker 3: be back here in the guy in.
- 1:02Speaker 2: The Chambers chambers with our gavels and it's very exciting.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Two hopefully good cases for you today. It's gonna be
- 1:11Speaker 2: a lot of fun. Dan for the people who are
- 1:13Speaker 2: maybe listening for the first time, explain a show off.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Yeah, so we love TV court shows.
- 1:17Speaker 2: We do. The mathis the Jew, the Jerry, all the
- 1:20Speaker 2: other ones. And so what I do is I watch
- 1:23Speaker 2: one case of a TV court show and I explained
- 1:26Speaker 2: it to Brand. He trusts against the verdict. Brand does
- 1:28Speaker 2: the same thing. I try to guess the verdict and
- 1:30Speaker 2: we all have a blast doing it. Yes, we have
- 1:34Speaker 2: a new review.
- 1:35Speaker 1: We do. Yes, let's hear it.
- 1:37Speaker 3: This is from jesse M that said read like the
- 1:41Speaker 3: intro courtroom drama.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Sound.
- 1:43Speaker 2: This weekly podcast called Yo Gavel Gavel has Dan watching
- 1:47Speaker 2: a ridiculous courtroom drama.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Will Brand guess the verdict? Will justice prevail? A judge
- 1:53Speaker 3: tells us probably not. On the other side, Brand watches
- 1:57Speaker 3: the courtroom drama.
- 1:58Speaker 2: We know that Justin is not a four in concept,
- 2:01Speaker 2: but does it exist in these courtrooms? Will Dan be
- 2:04Speaker 2: able to predict what happens? A judge tells us not
- 2:08Speaker 2: with my crazy resolutions, real people, real cases, fake.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Justice is yobble and you should listen. Thank you jesse M.
- 2:15Speaker 2: For that sounded like a no that a I wrote
- 2:20Speaker 2: a little this this thing. I don't think so, I
- 2:23Speaker 2: don't know. I think I think Jesse I worked really hard.
- 2:25Speaker 2: I kind of just read the review. Did I went
- 2:31Speaker 2: to an old favorite of ours, friend of the Judge Alex.
- 2:37Speaker 3: I was under the impression that we somehow had seen
- 2:41Speaker 3: all of the Judge Alex cases that are on YouTube,
- 2:44Speaker 3: because there's not a lot a lot of them. There's
- 2:45Speaker 3: not a lot of them.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Found one, and he hasn't been on TV for over
- 2:50Speaker 2: a decade, but I found one relevant. I found one,
- 2:54Speaker 2: and uh, it's awesome.
- 2:57Speaker 1: I want to introduce you to Katie Johnson.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Who is suing Willie Ross Willy Willie Ross for twenty
- 3:06Speaker 2: three hundred dollars which is the cost of an angel
- 3:08Speaker 2: statue and missed rent. And Willie Ross is counter suing
- 3:14Speaker 2: for fifty dollars for laundromat fees.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Are you ready? I love it already. Ross is awesome.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Katie lived in her house for fifteen years, but she
- 3:30Speaker 3: decided that she maybe need a little help financially, and
- 3:33Speaker 3: so she decides that it's going to make the most
- 3:35Speaker 3: sense to lease her home out.
- 3:38Speaker 2: I don't know where she goes to live, and it
- 3:40Speaker 2: only makes sense if you have somewhere else to live.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Ryes okay, but she she must because she leaves, and
- 3:48Speaker 2: she is contacted. She hears word from a neighbor that
- 3:51Speaker 2: they know someone named Willie Ross who may be interested
- 3:54Speaker 2: in his house, and at first she says no because
- 3:58Speaker 2: she's heard stories about Willy Ross that aren't super great.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Willie Ross says that's not true. He doesn't even know
- 4:06Speaker 1: the stories yet.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Willie Ross says, I haven't done anything negative in my life.
- 4:13Speaker 1: What a move. That's when you know someone's lying when
- 4:15Speaker 1: they say something like that.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Willie Ross has never done anything negative in his entire life.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Ultimately, she decides to let him move in.
- 4:25Speaker 3: He pays the five hundred dollars security posit and first
- 4:29Speaker 3: and last month's rents. A few months ago by and
- 4:33Speaker 3: she shows up and notices that.
- 4:36Speaker 1: From her lawn the angel statue that she holds near
- 4:41Speaker 1: and dear to her is missing.
- 4:44Speaker 3: Oh boy, she's had this angel statue for five years
- 4:47Speaker 3: and it is now missing. Willie says the angel was outside.
- 4:51Speaker 3: Anyone could take its.
- 4:53Speaker 1: True.
- 4:54Speaker 3: Judge Alex asks if he took it, and Willie says, no,
- 4:58Speaker 3: I didn't take it. I'm not into stuff like that.
- 5:02Speaker 3: If it was a gold chain, yeah, I take it.
- 5:05Speaker 3: He says he's never done anything negative in his life?
- 5:07Speaker 1: What do you mean? Judge Alex says that he's like,
- 5:09Speaker 1: I thought, you don't do anything. He's like, I don't
- 5:11Speaker 1: know what to tell you. Gold chain but an angel?
- 5:16Speaker 3: No, why would I take a statue that you could
- 5:18Speaker 3: easily buy for thirty nine ninety nine a Walmart?
- 5:21Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Why does anybody still does? Alex asked if Katie has
- 5:27Speaker 3: proof that he took it. She says, no, I don't
- 5:30Speaker 3: have a proof that he took it.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Okay.
- 5:32Speaker 2: He moves on to ask Willie why he left before
- 5:35Speaker 2: his lease was up. He says that she has a
- 5:39Speaker 2: nice looking house, and I thought it was going to
- 5:41Speaker 2: be great. But it's kind of like go to a
- 5:44Speaker 2: grocery store and buying a nice red apple. When you
- 5:46Speaker 2: get home and take a bite into it and there's
- 5:48Speaker 2: a warm except when you get that, you can go
- 5:50Speaker 2: back to the grocery store and you can get another apple.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Can't get another house? What a long way of saying
- 5:56Speaker 1: the house was trashing?
- 5:57Speaker 3: Yeah, Alex asks what the worm of the house is.
- 6:02Speaker 3: To continue the analogy here, judge line of questions, Willie
- 6:07Speaker 3: says everything air conditioning don't work.
- 6:10Speaker 2: He don't work, and she promised him that it would work.
- 6:14Speaker 2: And when I, you know, come in, it's cold. I
- 6:16Speaker 2: got to sleep in my pants on. My girlfriend comes
- 6:18Speaker 2: over asks me why you still get your pants on?
- 6:21Speaker 1: And I'm like, it's cold? What a what a life?
- 6:26Speaker 3: Judge Alex asks Judge house As why why'd you move
- 6:29Speaker 3: out in March when it was starting to warm up.
- 6:31Speaker 3: That's right, it would be a perfect time for you
- 6:32Speaker 3: not to have Willy says, I had an opportunity to
- 6:36Speaker 3: get the heck out of here, and I took it.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Alex asks about the washer and dryer situation. I don't
- 6:43Speaker 2: know if you remember this. He soon for fifty dollars
- 6:46Speaker 2: for Launders laundromat feed and he says that she told
- 6:52Speaker 2: him that the washer and dryer were included in the lease.
- 6:55Speaker 3: A month. A month later, she shows up and she
- 6:58Speaker 3: takes it. Katie says that Willie Ross broke my washing machine,
- 7:03Speaker 3: so she didn't show take it. She showed up because
- 7:06Speaker 3: it was britty. Well, she did show up to take it.
- 7:08Speaker 3: She actually sold the washer dryer, and then when she
- 7:12Speaker 3: showed up, she realized that's will Ross that she show
- 7:15Speaker 3: She shows up and she realizes that the washer's broken. Uh,
- 7:20Speaker 3: and she says that the Washington dryer weren't a part
- 7:22Speaker 3: of the lease. Alex says, well, if I move in
- 7:23Speaker 3: someone there's an appliance, I assume that I could use it.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Willie says, I didn't break anything. She calls me one
- 7:31Speaker 3: day and she says that someone bought the Washington dryer.
- 7:34Speaker 3: I'm coming over. Uh, she says, I did try to
- 7:36Speaker 3: sell it, but you broke it. I couldn't sell it.
- 7:39Speaker 3: And I told him that when he when he moved in,
- 7:42Speaker 3: the Washington dryer were like an added bonus, but not
- 7:44Speaker 3: something that he should rely on.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like having another apple.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Willie Ross says, no, it was a part of the deal.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Do we have any paperwork not about this now? Katie says,
- 7:55Speaker 2: did did we? Uh judge Alex, did we not swear
- 7:59Speaker 2: to tell the truth? Of about the truth? He says,
- 8:01Speaker 2: I mean, I hope. So she says, Willie Ross, you
- 8:05Speaker 2: need to tell the truth. Willie Ross says.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Here's the deal. Are they all calling him Willy Ross
- 8:09Speaker 1: the whole time? No? She does, I just like to
- 8:14Speaker 1: where that.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Willie Ross says, uh, sorry, sorry, sorry, So, uh you
- 8:20Speaker 2: got to start telling the truth.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Willie Ross says, here's the deal. In the ceiling, there was.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Raccoons and squirrels. It's like a WWF wrestling matchup in there,
- 8:32Speaker 2: it is, she tells. She tells, you know, for the record,
- 8:36Speaker 2: it was definitely ww at the time of the recording.
- 8:40Speaker 2: She tells him that she's gonna send somebody to fix it.
- 8:45Speaker 2: She sends her son, who sprinkles some sort of fairy
- 8:48Speaker 2: dust up there and didn't actually fix the vent where
- 8:53Speaker 2: the critters were getting in. They keep getting in and
- 8:56Speaker 2: then urine begins to seep through this.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Joj Alex asks, are you telling me that all of
- 9:02Speaker 3: the critters were peeing the same exact spot and it
- 9:05Speaker 3: was beginning to leak through to the ceiling, and he says, yes,
- 9:08Speaker 3: that is what.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Does she acknowledge that the that the climate the HVAC
- 9:14Speaker 2: doesn't work.
- 9:16Speaker 3: She doesn't address that, okay, She does say that there
- 9:19Speaker 3: were indeed critters, Yes, okay. Alex asks if they ever
- 9:23Speaker 3: got into the house, and Willie says, this is the
- 9:26Speaker 3: next part. He goes out one Willie Ross goes out
- 9:31Speaker 3: one night and comes back home. He goes to bed,
- 9:34Speaker 3: he wakes up and uh, he looks and he's like,
- 9:39Speaker 3: I didn't bring anyone home last night.
- 9:41Speaker 1: This raccoon is looking at me.
- 9:44Speaker 2: I'm looking at the raccoon and I say to myself,
- 9:47Speaker 2: it's time to get the heck out of here.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Alex says, the raccoon was in bed with you. You
- 9:52Speaker 1: switched from raccoon to raccoons. I'm gonna.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Just some background as to why you switched, because I
- 10:00Speaker 2: realized I was saying it improperly and I wanted to
- 10:02Speaker 2: correct myself. You think raccoon is correct, raccoon is wrong.
- 10:06Speaker 2: That's exactly right, Alex says. The raccoon was in bed
- 10:09Speaker 2: with you. He says, the foot of the bed. And
- 10:13Speaker 2: you know what, these animals violate her own deed restriction,
- 10:18Speaker 2: and that is something that he has in court, her
- 10:22Speaker 2: deed restriction.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Pets.
- 10:25Speaker 3: Willie hands Alex to deed and Willie says, I'm fine
- 10:29Speaker 3: bringing a girl home, but a raccoon.
- 10:31Speaker 2: She had a whole pett and zoo up in that attic,
- 10:33Speaker 2: and I don't know. I thought it was written a house,
- 10:35Speaker 2: not a petting zoo. Because I can't express how wonderful
- 10:40Speaker 2: Willie Ross is.
- 10:41Speaker 3: He's amazing and would recommend washing this case.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Uh.
- 10:45Speaker 2: The deed restriction states that you cannot raise or breed
- 10:50Speaker 2: any exotic animals that.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Has nothing to do with Alex says, Alex is, so
- 10:55Speaker 1: I don't think. I don't think she was raising or
- 10:57Speaker 1: breeding them.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Willy says no, but she was letting them stay there,
- 11:02Speaker 2: basically raising them.
- 11:03Speaker 3: I let her know that, she let him. I let
- 11:05Speaker 3: him know that she was up there, and uh, she
- 11:08Speaker 3: didn't do anything about it. They raise it. She's raising
- 11:11Speaker 3: all right, raising the critis sorry.
- 11:13Speaker 2: Alex says, she's clearly Willie Ross, she's clearly.
- 11:17Speaker 3: Not intentionally doing ras uh raccoons. Katie says, I did
- 11:22Speaker 3: all that I could. He contacts me in January. I
- 11:25Speaker 3: send my son over right away. Uh, and he put
- 11:29Speaker 3: down the critter begone. That's the power.
- 11:32Speaker 2: And uh. I contacted my contractor and he was tied
- 11:37Speaker 2: up at the time, but he was going to come
- 11:39Speaker 2: when his time freed up. Willie says, he's a shade tree.
- 11:43Speaker 2: He's a shade tree judge. Alex says, huh, he's a
- 11:48Speaker 2: what Willie says, Well, you know someone who says like
- 11:52Speaker 2: says that you know what you what they know, and
- 11:55Speaker 2: then they don't actually do what they say They're gonna
- 11:58Speaker 2: classic shade tree situation. Did you know that phrase? Okay,
- 12:02Speaker 2: Katy says, I don't know what he's talking about. He's
- 12:04Speaker 2: a reliable contractor and he was going to come ass
- 12:07Speaker 2: a no, no, I won't stand for it.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Uh. She gives Alex racoon under the shade tree. Thank you.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Uh okay.
- 12:16Speaker 2: So Katie gives Alex a stack of photos and we're like, great,
- 12:21Speaker 2: this is going to be what we need.
- 12:23Speaker 3: This is going to show that she like try. Every
- 12:28Speaker 3: picture is about the statue.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Oh.
- 12:31Speaker 3: One picture is of the statue. One picture is the
- 12:36Speaker 3: grass no statue. Another picture is the hole where the
- 12:41Speaker 3: statue was close up.
- 12:44Speaker 2: The fourth picture is another picture of the whole further away.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Good gosh.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Alex asks Willie if he has pictures of the urine
- 12:55Speaker 2: stained ceiling. Willie says, I didn't think it would go
- 12:57Speaker 2: this far, so no, I didn't.
- 12:59Speaker 3: Alex asked Katie about the rent money that she's suing for.
- 13:05Speaker 3: She explains that she put the last month rent that
- 13:09Speaker 3: he gave her towards the month of March. She is
- 13:12Speaker 3: suing for all of April in part of May because
- 13:15Speaker 3: in mid May she decides that she's going to sell
- 13:17Speaker 3: the house and so she's not going to make him
- 13:20Speaker 3: pay for she decided to do that. Alex says, well,
- 13:23Speaker 3: did you try to rent the place out after he leaves?
- 13:26Speaker 3: And she said, I put a sign in the window,
- 13:29Speaker 3: and he said, so that everybody who lives in your
- 13:31Speaker 3: neighborhood who already has a house knows that there's also
- 13:35Speaker 3: a house for.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Rent still something and she can tell somebody, you know.
- 13:39Speaker 3: And she says, well, that's how I did it the
- 13:40Speaker 3: first time, and will got a hold of me. She
- 13:44Speaker 3: considered advertising it more, but by the time she got
- 13:47Speaker 3: around to that, she decided that she was just going
- 13:49Speaker 3: to sell it. Took a little while to get the
- 13:51Speaker 3: house back into order.
- 13:52Speaker 2: Judge Alex is ready to rule. It's a tough one
- 13:54Speaker 2: because there's no documentation anywhere. The fact that she brought
- 13:57Speaker 2: in pictures of a statue doesn't help her case.
- 14:02Speaker 1: But he's very concerned about this. He's very much lying.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Willie Ross is very much lying.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Like to make up that all the urine pulled to
- 14:10Speaker 2: one place in the house is that's so much urine,
- 14:14Speaker 2: that's that's like I would ask for.
- 14:15Speaker 3: You not to disparage the name of Willie Ross.
- 14:18Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 14:20Speaker 2: How much is it he's not getting fifty dollars, that's hysterical.
- 14:24Speaker 3: She's saying for twenty three hundred dollars, which is the
- 14:25Speaker 3: angel statue and the rent that he didn't pay, not
- 14:28Speaker 3: the angel.
- 14:29Speaker 2: She's not getting the angel statue. She should get the rent.
- 14:32Speaker 2: I believe that the rent was nine hundred a month.
- 14:34Speaker 2: It's nine hundred plus half nine hundred thirteen and then
- 14:39Speaker 2: the statue.
- 14:40Speaker 1: Thirteen to fifty is the ruling.
- 14:42Speaker 3: H Alex says he didn't bring any pictures of the damages,
- 14:46Speaker 3: and so I think the security posit probably would have
- 14:49Speaker 3: covered any damages that Willie Ross had, So I'm not
- 14:52Speaker 3: going to give you that. As for the rent, the
- 14:55Speaker 3: sign in the window does not show me that you
- 14:58Speaker 3: are trying to find another their tenant with a reasonable attempt.
- 15:02Speaker 3: You used last month's rent as you were supposed to.
- 15:05Speaker 3: If you were actively trying to find a replacement tenant,
- 15:07Speaker 3: you would have had a case. But since she did not,
- 15:10Speaker 3: you do not have a case. No money for you.
- 15:13Speaker 3: As for the counterclaim, you did not show me, at
- 15:16Speaker 3: least that says the Washington Driver or a part of it.
- 15:19Speaker 2: You do not get your fifty dollars. No money for anybody,
- 15:22Speaker 2: dude that she got rats, but justice for Willy Ross
- 15:27Speaker 2: is done.
- 15:28Speaker 1: I don't know what to tell you. That's that's tough.
- 15:30Speaker 1: This this is a.
- 15:32Speaker 2: He and she did try to rent it. I'm sorry,
- 15:34Speaker 2: Like that's put a sign on the window. Yeah all right,
- 15:37Speaker 2: I don't know this. It's tough because I understand what
- 15:40Speaker 2: he's saying that that, like a sign of the yard.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Is maybe better than a sign of the window.
- 15:46Speaker 3: Like you really have to be looking for it. You
- 15:48Speaker 3: really have to be looking for the sign of the window.
- 15:50Speaker 3: And so like a neighbor looked across the tree, it
- 15:51Speaker 3: was like, oh, sign on the window, Willie Ross.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Willy Ross.
- 15:54Speaker 2: But how many other Willy Ross's are there out there?
- 15:57Speaker 2: So there's only one Willie Ross.
- 16:00Speaker 1: I know that much. Who do you have?
- 16:02Speaker 2: I got Judge Mathis, the old, tried and true Judge Masses.
- 16:05Speaker 2: I don't know his first name. Don't know it?
- 16:08Speaker 1: Greg?
- 16:08Speaker 2: Is it Greg Mathis? Can't be Greg. It's Greg Mathis.
- 16:11Speaker 2: I'll look it up. There's gonna look it up, Gary Christensen.
- 16:16Speaker 2: This is I thought she's gonna have it on the
- 16:18Speaker 2: first is rag I was right talking about boy Greg
- 16:20Speaker 2: Mathis shout out, shout out, like he's an assistant coach
- 16:24Speaker 2: of a basketball team. Uh. Gary Christensen is suing his
- 16:30Speaker 2: ex girlfriend Sandra Jordan for four thousand, ninety two dollars
- 16:35Speaker 2: for furniture, a security deposit, and rent. Sandra is countersuing
- 16:40Speaker 2: for twenty fifty dollars for rent and emotional distress.
- 16:44Speaker 3: He blow through all of the Star Wars money already,
- 16:46Speaker 3: all of it.
- 16:47Speaker 1: It's gone.
- 16:48Speaker 2: See you, uh Gary says, all right, First of all,
- 16:51Speaker 2: you need to know a couple of things here. This
- 16:53Speaker 2: takes place in the deep deep seeds of Wisconsin. Like
- 16:58Speaker 2: they both of these folks are from uh my wife's
- 17:03Speaker 2: grandfather's hometown, which I've been to, walk Shaw, Wisconsin, walk
- 17:07Speaker 2: a Shaw. These are very Midwestern folk, and he appears
- 17:13Speaker 2: to be and it could be just the Midwest. It's
- 17:15Speaker 2: gotten the best of them. He appears to be fifteen
- 17:17Speaker 2: years older than her.
- 17:18Speaker 3: Oh interesting, Okay, so it's Hayden Christensen and who else.
- 17:20Speaker 2: It's Hayden Christensen and Sandy b It's Gary Christensen and
- 17:25Speaker 2: Sandy je Yes, he says, Sandy calls her Sandy. Sandy
- 17:29Speaker 2: and I had in a community college where we were
- 17:31Speaker 2: taking a class. We click, you have community, you have.
- 17:35Speaker 2: The truck quickly became pals and friends and study pals,
- 17:39Speaker 2: and within two months we got intimate, had an affair,
- 17:42Speaker 2: fell in love. Matthis is like two months and he said, yeah,
- 17:47Speaker 2: we just had in common that we were both in
- 17:49Speaker 2: troubled marriages. Oh yeah, and so we decided to secure
- 17:53Speaker 2: an apartment in June and on jen Adults Community College. Yeah,
- 17:57Speaker 2: I mean, come on, Ben to diagrams one circle. She
- 18:01Speaker 2: He's like, so we secured an apartment in June one,
- 18:04Speaker 2: and she moved in on June one, and Massacos secured
- 18:08Speaker 2: an apartment and he goes like, I put up the
- 18:10Speaker 2: security department deposit and first month's rent, but the apartment
- 18:14Speaker 2: was in both of our names. I just put up
- 18:16Speaker 2: the first fourteen hundred dollars. He got an apartment, a
- 18:19Speaker 2: shared apartment. So she moved in June one. She thought
- 18:24Speaker 2: he was going to move in with her June one
- 18:26Speaker 2: because they were both trying to dissolve their marriage. He said,
- 18:30Speaker 2: I can't move in until later. I'm still working some
- 18:32Speaker 2: stuff out in my marriage. I want to be above
- 18:33Speaker 2: board about this, and he decided to. He said he
- 18:38Speaker 2: was going to move in towards the end of August.
- 18:40Speaker 2: What it seems like is he saw this as a
- 18:41Speaker 2: love shack, and she saw this as the next chapter
- 18:45Speaker 2: of her life. Wait for it, Okay, he says, Sandy,
- 18:47Speaker 2: I would guess was he said, I started guessing that
- 18:50Speaker 2: Sandy was now cheating on me, So they're cheating on
- 18:54Speaker 2: their spouses and he now thinks Sandy, he said, she
- 19:01Speaker 2: told me it was just her girlfriends from school. But
- 19:03Speaker 2: on July fifth, I went through her phone and her
- 19:05Speaker 2: text messages and and I found out, forbid, your mistress
- 19:11Speaker 2: cheats Hunt, That's right. I found out she was texting
- 19:13Speaker 2: a guy and they were definitely more than just friends.
- 19:16Speaker 2: Wasn't her husband? Matthis is like, what type of things
- 19:19Speaker 2: was she texted? And he was like, oh, they were
- 19:21Speaker 2: seeing each other, having dinner together. They were meeting and
- 19:24Speaker 2: he was like that could have been all above board.
- 19:26Speaker 2: That could they could have been playing cards. It was
- 19:27Speaker 2: classic matthis And he was like, well, it wasn't all
- 19:30Speaker 2: above board, your honor.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Because I texted this.
- 19:34Speaker 2: I texted this guy and we're like, are you seeing
- 19:36Speaker 2: Sandy Jones? And he said he didn't respond to me,
- 19:40Speaker 2: and then two days later Sandy broke up with me.
- 19:45Speaker 2: So so how far into the lease is a month
- 19:49Speaker 2: and a half?
- 19:49Speaker 1: Ah that's things.
- 19:51Speaker 2: That's tough, Sanders, like your honor. This man has lied
- 19:54Speaker 2: to me the entire time we were together. When I
- 19:56Speaker 2: first met him, Yes, we both technically were married, but
- 19:59Speaker 2: we were in trouble ma and we were both on
- 20:02Speaker 2: our way out in the separation process.
- 20:04Speaker 1: So did we have an affair?
- 20:05Speaker 2: Yes, technical we have an affair, and yeah, she said,
- 20:09Speaker 2: I knew that I needed to get out and stop
- 20:12Speaker 2: living with my ex husband. It wasn't a good situation.
- 20:14Speaker 2: And I thought he was on the same page with
- 20:15Speaker 2: his ex wife. And so we found this place together
- 20:20Speaker 2: and we did get to know each other a lot,
- 20:24Speaker 2: and we found a lot of a lot that we
- 20:26Speaker 2: had a lot in common. At this point, matthatis Bailiff goes, yeah, adultery,
- 20:33Speaker 2: just like without missing a beat, says yeah, adults, Ah.
- 20:38Speaker 1: The common denominator of adults.
- 20:41Speaker 2: That's right, And she's like, but he Gary did admit
- 20:44Speaker 2: that he was separating from his wife, and so he
- 20:47Speaker 2: bought me an engagement ring in April, before we had
- 20:50Speaker 2: the apartment. He bought me an engagement ring. We were serious.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Hold on, Yes, he they got an apartment after knowing
- 20:57Speaker 2: each other for two months after Uh, isn't that what
- 21:02Speaker 2: you said. After two months, within two months, we got intimate, okay, yeah, yeah,
- 21:08Speaker 2: and we fell in love okay, intimate, had an affair,
- 21:11Speaker 2: fell in love in two months, okay, not got an
- 21:13Speaker 2: apartment after two months. Was making sure I had the
- 21:15Speaker 2: write notes there. So she's like, he had an engagement
- 21:19Speaker 2: ring for me. I believed that he was the one
- 21:22Speaker 2: and we were both going to divorce our current spouses
- 21:25Speaker 2: and we were going to get this apartment, and we
- 21:27Speaker 2: were gonna get married, and we were going to start
- 21:29Speaker 2: a family.
- 21:29Speaker 1: Like these are the words that she uses, Like that's
- 21:33Speaker 1: what she says.
- 21:35Speaker 2: He's the one that yeah, that's right, the deuce the
- 21:37Speaker 2: second one. And she's like, and here's the thing you're
- 21:40Speaker 2: on her, Like, my ex husband knew about Gary, like
- 21:42Speaker 2: I told him about Gary. He knew we were divorcing,
- 21:45Speaker 2: he knew I'd met someone. This to me, wasn't cheating,
- 21:48Speaker 2: aside from legally it was cheating. Like she was like
- 21:50Speaker 2: very above bored about that, and he's like, but I
- 21:54Speaker 2: found out that Gary's wife had no knowledge he was.
- 21:58Speaker 1: Seeing me at all.
- 22:00Speaker 2: We had plans to get married Gary, have kids, get
- 22:04Speaker 2: a place, moving together. Then I found out we get
- 22:06Speaker 2: the apartment, and no one in Gary's family knows about me.
- 22:11Speaker 2: I was ready to be public. Gary was trying to
- 22:14Speaker 2: hide me away. He put me on the back burner,
- 22:17Speaker 2: and so we were pretty much broken up by the
- 22:19Speaker 2: time I met this guy in July and cheated on it.
- 22:22Speaker 2: That's her story. Gary's like your honor. I told people.
- 22:25Speaker 2: He doesn't get me these specifics they told people, But
- 22:29Speaker 2: he's Matthis is like, tell me about fourteen hundred. Tell
- 22:32Speaker 2: me about the furniture. He's like. I bought furniture, all
- 22:35Speaker 2: new furniture for the apartment. We were going to live
- 22:37Speaker 2: there together. That's where we were going to live. And
- 22:40Speaker 2: she got an eviction notice when she wasn't paying the
- 22:42Speaker 2: rent in November, after we had broken up, and she
- 22:45Speaker 2: texted me that she was moving out and I could
- 22:46Speaker 2: come pick up the furniture. I went to the apartment
- 22:48Speaker 2: to pick up the furniture and there was none of
- 22:50Speaker 2: the furniture there. The only thing that was there was
- 22:53Speaker 2: an old couch from a thrift store and a broken TV.
- 22:55Speaker 2: So I filed the police report, saying he's like your honor.
- 23:01Speaker 2: When we signed the lease agreement, we were each going
- 23:04Speaker 2: to pay half for the furniture, and we were going
- 23:06Speaker 2: to split the rent. I paid for half the furniture.
- 23:10Speaker 1: I did.
- 23:10Speaker 2: He goes, well, where's the furniture now? She goes, I
- 23:12Speaker 2: started moving out November first. He paid his half. In
- 23:15Speaker 2: October he was paying his half. I could no longer
- 23:18Speaker 2: afford to pay my half of the rent because I
- 23:20Speaker 2: just had I just I don't remember why. She just
- 23:23Speaker 2: said she couldn't do it. And she was like, and
- 23:24Speaker 2: I was told that I was going to get evicted,
- 23:26Speaker 2: and so I moved out before I could get evicted
- 23:27Speaker 2: in November. So she she was like, I told the
- 23:33Speaker 2: landlord I was going to leave all his furniture here,
- 23:35Speaker 2: and I did leave it, aside from the bed, which
- 23:38Speaker 2: I took to my new place, because I paid for
- 23:40Speaker 2: half the furniture. Gary's like, you're honor. I have a
- 23:42Speaker 2: police report here, and it says the furniture was not there.
- 23:47Speaker 2: Matthis reads from the police report. Upon asking if her
- 23:50Speaker 2: if she planned on giving her furniture or payments, she
- 23:54Speaker 2: said she would make payments for it. Oh, yes, that's
- 23:58Speaker 2: in the police report. Yes, Oh not looking go for
- 24:01Speaker 2: Sanders said, I did say that because I paid for
- 24:06Speaker 2: half of the furniture and I told him that I
- 24:08Speaker 2: would pay him for the rest of the bed.
- 24:09Speaker 1: I told him that, and I did that. That's what
- 24:12Speaker 1: she said.
- 24:12Speaker 2: She goes, not furniture, bed, Matthis says uh. This says uh,
- 24:20Speaker 2: you know Jordan.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Oh.
- 24:24Speaker 2: He continues to read the police report and it says
- 24:26Speaker 2: Jordan confirmed she was in possession of the furniture. He goes,
- 24:30Speaker 2: that doesn't say bed. That says furniture. It doesn't say bed,
- 24:33Speaker 2: it says furniture. Gary's like, listen, Sandy wouldn't let me
- 24:37Speaker 2: move in. Later in the sun like He's like, Mathis goes,
- 24:39Speaker 2: why do you need to rent back?
- 24:40Speaker 1: What happened here?
- 24:41Speaker 2: He's like, I still intended to move in in August
- 24:44Speaker 2: and for us to give this thing a go, but
- 24:46Speaker 2: she had decided to move on and she did not
- 24:48Speaker 2: let me move into this apartment. She literally wouldn't let
- 24:52Speaker 2: me move in, and so all all my half of
- 24:54Speaker 2: the money I never got to live in the place
- 24:57Speaker 2: that I half purchased.
- 24:59Speaker 1: To live in.
- 25:00Speaker 2: Matthis is like, you wouldn't let him move in. Sandy's like, no,
- 25:02Speaker 2: I wouldn't let him move in. We were already broken
- 25:04Speaker 2: up at that point, and Gary was like, no, we hadn't.
- 25:07Speaker 2: Gary has text messages on his phone, and he said,
- 25:11Speaker 2: not only do I have text messages saying she'll pay
- 25:13Speaker 2: for the furniture your honor, I also have text messages
- 25:16Speaker 2: that says she took the furniture so she would have
- 25:19Speaker 2: an excuse to still talk to me. Matthis reads the
- 25:22Speaker 2: text messages, and sure enough it not only says, yes,
- 25:25Speaker 2: I have the furniture, but also I took it so
- 25:29Speaker 2: that you will have to still talk to me.
- 25:34Speaker 1: That is what Sandy has said to Terry.
- 25:36Speaker 2: I started, Sandy, we believe women, but you are really
- 25:40Speaker 2: this is tough, son, Sandy j This is tough. Uh.
- 25:46Speaker 1: She said, Look, he promised me we were gonna get married.
- 25:48Speaker 2: Then he didn't move in with me, and then he
- 25:51Speaker 2: stalked me for six months and he hid me from
- 25:53Speaker 2: his family, and I was angry.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Matthews is ready to rule. I think she's gonna she's
- 26:00Speaker 1: gonna have to pay What.
- 26:01Speaker 2: Was that countersued for emotional distress twenty fifty dollars?
- 26:05Speaker 1: No, No, absolutely, what he's doing.
- 26:08Speaker 2: He's suing four thousand, ninety two dollars furniture and the
- 26:12Speaker 2: rent that he paid and did not get reimbursed. Oh.
- 26:15Speaker 3: Man, Well, I think she's definitely gonna have to pay
- 26:17Speaker 3: for the furniture.
- 26:18Speaker 2: I think that's tough. I didn't take the furniture. I
- 26:23Speaker 2: took the furniture, so you'll still talk to me. So
- 26:26Speaker 2: at least she's getting what she wants. There, they are talking,
- 26:29Speaker 2: they are that's good.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's tough. I would like more proof.
- 26:35Speaker 2: Of his intention to move into set apartment, Like if
- 26:39Speaker 2: your name is on lease, they're both on the lease. Yes,
- 26:42Speaker 2: if both names are on the least and technically like
- 26:45Speaker 2: he should be, you would think be able to move it.
- 26:48Speaker 2: I don't know all that's murky to me, but I'm
- 26:50Speaker 2: gonna give him all of the money. Matthis is going
- 26:52Speaker 2: to give him all the money and said, basically says
- 26:55Speaker 2: miss Jones, like, Miss Jordan, excuse me. At every turn,
- 26:59Speaker 2: it feels as though you've lied to me. I have
- 27:01Speaker 2: no reason to believe. He has given me receipts, he's
- 27:04Speaker 2: given me a police report, and he's given me texts.
- 27:07Speaker 2: There's enough here for me to assume that all of
- 27:09Speaker 2: this belongs to him, and so he gives it all
- 27:11Speaker 2: to her. And I gotta be honest, Gary, seems like
- 27:15Speaker 2: a little bit of an a hole.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm pretty sure he was right to.
- 27:20Speaker 2: Get this money based upon the evidence given to the court.
- 27:24Speaker 3: There, that's tough, that's too good cases. Good episode today,
