- 0:00Speaker 1: More Mark Mark Simone on seven tenor Hey, we're looking
- 0:08Speaker 1: over Steve Forbes. We don't have any How do I sound?
- 0:12Speaker 1: Do I sound nasal? A little yeah, a little bit.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:20Speaker 1: It started two days ago. My nose you started running.
- 0:23Speaker 1: I think it's allergies, and yesterday got worse. And then
- 0:29Speaker 1: I'm listening to Curtis, who sounds great in the morning,
- 0:32Speaker 1: but lately he's been talking like that. I mean, he's
- 0:35Speaker 1: really stuffed up. And I saw him, Yes, I said,
- 0:38Speaker 1: do you have an allergy? Started calling us? This is
- 0:39Speaker 1: a cold? So maybe that's what I have. You hear
- 0:45Speaker 1: that that is really stuffed up. I think that's more
- 0:47Speaker 1: than the allergies. Although they say it's the worst couple
- 0:50Speaker 1: of days of allergies in this week, the worst few
- 0:54Speaker 1: days ever. What happened to Steve Forbes? We didn't find him. No,
- 0:59Speaker 1: something about economists. Something about economists named Steve. They're hard
- 1:03Speaker 1: to find. No, Steve Forbes is the most reliable guest
- 1:05Speaker 1: in the world. Hey, he always tells us about AI
- 1:08Speaker 1: and not to be so afraid of it. But there's
- 1:11Speaker 1: consequences to AI. Remember when the computers took over everything?
- 1:18Speaker 1: Go back to twenty nineteen ninety nine two thousand, all
- 1:21Speaker 1: of a sudden, everything just went computerized, everything went high
- 1:25Speaker 1: tech and put a lot of people out of work
- 1:27Speaker 1: when suddenly computers were doing everything. And remember back then
- 1:30Speaker 1: they would say to everybody, well, you know you got
- 1:32Speaker 1: to learn new skills. You should learn coding once you
- 1:35Speaker 1: can code, since the computers are taken over. If you
- 1:38Speaker 1: can code software ball, you'll be working for life. It
- 1:42Speaker 1: was a great idea. A lot of people became software coders.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Well there's no more software coding. It's all been taken
- 1:50Speaker 1: over by AI. Apparently that's one thing AI is very
- 1:53Speaker 1: good at writing. When you figure out what you want
- 1:56Speaker 1: to do software wise, instead of having to write the code,
- 2:00Speaker 1: you just let AI do it. And apparently if a
- 2:03Speaker 1: couple of guys wanted to do the coding to create
- 2:05Speaker 1: the software, it could take days. If you put it
- 2:08Speaker 1: into AI, it takes about a second and a half.
- 2:11Speaker 1: So the whole coding industry is pretty much dead. You
- 2:16Speaker 1: don't really need to even think about anybody going into
- 2:20Speaker 1: that profession anymore. So it's a new update for your iPhone.
- 2:26Speaker 1: It's a kinky proug all these it's twenty six to
- 2:29Speaker 1: point four operating system. But if you update to this.
- 2:34Speaker 1: There's one good thing I like on there. When you're
- 2:36Speaker 1: charging your phone, if you're not getting a really good charge,
- 2:40Speaker 1: if it's a slow charge, a warning light will go off.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Tone you get a slow charge. You know, if you
- 2:44Speaker 1: buy those chargers from Apple or Balkan or there's some
- 2:49Speaker 1: really good companies that make chargers, and you know they
- 2:52Speaker 1: cost a little more. And sometimes you go on Amazon
- 2:54Speaker 1: say look at this, Well here's a charger. It's only
- 2:56Speaker 1: five bucks and you get an off brand charger for
- 2:59Speaker 1: your or the not a real high quality cable. Well
- 3:03Speaker 1: the problem is it doesn't give you a very fast charge.
- 3:05Speaker 1: It could take forever. So now there'll be a warning
- 3:08Speaker 1: on those charges. So you know, if you have to write,
- 3:10Speaker 1: oh we got them. The great Steve Forbes, chairman of
- 3:13Speaker 1: Forbes Media, Hey, get his latest book, Inflation. There's no
- 3:17Speaker 1: better book on the subject. The book's Inflation by Steve Forbes.
- 3:20Speaker 1: And of course read Forbes. It's the best at covering
- 3:24Speaker 1: all this stuff. Steve Forbes, How you doing doing fine? Thanks?
- 3:28Speaker 2: The sun is somewhat out and baseball is underway. The
- 3:32Speaker 2: Yankees won their opener, and great basketball. Everyone's rooting around
- 3:37Speaker 2: here for Saint John's. If they can upset the Great
- 3:39Speaker 2: Duke So and the rest of the world, well, not
- 3:43Speaker 2: much we can do about it. But hey, with baseball
- 3:46Speaker 2: what we can baseball?
- 3:48Speaker 1: What do you think of that whatever they call it
- 3:49Speaker 1: ab where it can actually check to see if it
- 3:53Speaker 1: was a striker or not. It can digitally look and
- 3:54Speaker 1: see if was a strike. Doesn't that take the human
- 3:57Speaker 1: element out of baseball?
- 3:59Speaker 2: It does? But inevitably, with the technology, you knew one
- 4:03Speaker 2: way the other that was coming. They've tried it out
- 4:05Speaker 2: in the minor leagues, and the shortstop for the Yankees
- 4:09Speaker 2: made histories, you know, on opening a day in San
- 4:12Speaker 2: Francisco by being the first player to challenge a call.
- 4:17Speaker 2: The computer found that the batter was wrong, so the
- 4:19Speaker 2: team lost its challenge. But and the speed, the key
- 4:24Speaker 2: thing is the speed. So you knew that was going
- 4:26Speaker 2: to come, and we just have to make the best
- 4:29Speaker 2: of it. But it's always fun though in the past
- 4:33Speaker 2: to be able to say, yeah, we lost the game
- 4:35Speaker 2: because lousy umping, But now it's just he didn't play
- 4:39Speaker 2: very well.
- 4:41Speaker 1: We like the fat, dumpy, grumpy umpire and who's who's
- 4:44Speaker 1: the manager gonna yell at? Now? With that thing.
- 4:46Speaker 2: There's nobody to Billy Billy Martin wherever he is right now.
- 4:51Speaker 2: The Yankee manager, you can manager. I think it was
- 4:53Speaker 2: fired ten times the George Steinbrener era and was notorious
- 4:57Speaker 2: for kicking dirt. I think he could have constructed a
- 5:00Speaker 2: building in New York's amount of dirty care out on
- 5:03Speaker 2: the field. And he must be rolling his eyes. Now
- 5:07Speaker 2: what would he do? Who could he yell at?
- 5:12Speaker 1: Hey? Steve Forbes, if the President called you today and
- 5:15Speaker 1: said how am I doing? What would you tell him?
- 5:18Speaker 2: I would tell him that one, we've demonstrated extraordinary military
- 5:23Speaker 2: capabilities in this war with the Iran, and that he
- 5:31Speaker 2: should he should, and the Israelis have done the same,
- 5:36Speaker 2: and he should continue to do what they need to
- 5:40Speaker 2: do to incapacitate the local militias to keep this government
- 5:45Speaker 2: in power. And one of the things I wish the
- 5:48Speaker 2: President would do is make a nationwide address behind the
- 5:53Speaker 2: desk in the Oval Office and not behind a platform,
- 5:56Speaker 2: and explain what's at stake, why we're doing what it's
- 5:59Speaker 2: we have to do. And it may take three days,
- 6:02Speaker 2: three weeks, three months, but it has to be done.
- 6:05Speaker 2: And you know, the American people when you explain something
- 6:08Speaker 2: like that is basically national security. The Mullas were intent
- 6:13Speaker 2: on being bad actors, dangerous actors, destructive actors. After all,
- 6:18Speaker 2: they've killed two thousand of our people. But the American
- 6:23Speaker 2: people will cut them slack. They will put up with
- 6:26Speaker 2: the inconveniences as long as they have a context. But
- 6:30Speaker 2: unfortunately the impression has been given from the get go
- 6:34Speaker 2: this will be sort of a venezuela two point zero. Yeah,
- 6:37Speaker 2: it may take a few days longer, but it'll be
- 6:39Speaker 2: lickety split. And it isn't. And so the American people
- 6:46Speaker 2: back you if you explain it to them. Just one
- 6:48Speaker 2: thing on that I'm allo to remember. During the Vietnam War,
- 6:51Speaker 2: President Richard Nixon takes oval office. The war is growing
- 6:55Speaker 2: in unpopularity as policy of vietnamizations, they call it growing
- 6:59Speaker 2: and popularity. And he did a nationwide address and bought
- 7:04Speaker 2: time politically to carry out his strategy. Explain it to
- 7:08Speaker 2: the American people. Trust the American people, and most of
- 7:11Speaker 2: them will give you the time to do if you
- 7:14Speaker 2: explain why the job has to be done.
- 7:17Speaker 1: But at that cabinet meeting he explained it for a
- 7:19Speaker 1: good half hour. Then he went on the five yesterday
- 7:21Speaker 1: and for almost an hour explained himself. But I know
- 7:23Speaker 1: what you mean. It's not the same as a formal address.
- 7:27Speaker 1: But you know, if he.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Didn't know and doing then you know, if you do
- 7:31Speaker 2: the formal address and have that context, sober context, then
- 7:35Speaker 2: these updates that he gives, you know, when he goes
- 7:38Speaker 2: into a rope line or whatever or on the five,
- 7:41Speaker 2: then then it's seen as part of the mosaic. But
- 7:45Speaker 2: people have an understanding in which they can put what
- 7:47Speaker 2: he says in context. And so he's got to do
- 7:51Speaker 2: himself in the American people a favor by laying it out.
- 7:55Speaker 2: The American people then put up with stuff if they
- 7:58Speaker 2: know there's a purpose and you've explained why it has
- 8:02Speaker 2: to be done.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Yeah, so hey, Steve Forbes, Moody's has didn't exactly downgrade
- 8:08Speaker 1: New York, but they lowered expectations on New York. What
- 8:12Speaker 1: does this do any actual damage to us?
- 8:16Speaker 2: I think it's just underscores the bad trajectory. New York
- 8:20Speaker 2: City has been on for a while, New York State
- 8:22Speaker 2: has been on for a while, and it just gives
- 8:25Speaker 2: proof that change has to come. And I think Governor
- 8:30Speaker 2: Hockel sort of semi recognizes that you can't keep running
- 8:34Speaker 2: the state into the ground. But you have a radical
- 8:38Speaker 2: city council, you have a radical mayor, neo communists, You've
- 8:42Speaker 2: got a legislature that's out of control, and the Democrat
- 8:45Speaker 2: parties run by the far left. And so you know,
- 8:49Speaker 2: Moody's is not a Moody's is like our umpire and
- 8:54Speaker 2: and and and they're calling strikes and where New York
- 8:59Speaker 2: and city and state are striking out. So it's good
- 9:02Speaker 2: because I think it helps change politically the environment where
- 9:06Speaker 2: somebody like Bruce Blakeman, who is a Republican candidate for governor,
- 9:11Speaker 2: may make a change. And one of the things skeptic
- 9:15Speaker 2: should keep in mind is that even though New York
- 9:17Speaker 2: is a city, especially but the state's blue. We've seen
- 9:22Speaker 2: in states like Vermont or New Hampshire they will elect
- 9:26Speaker 2: a Republican if it's just about local issues, not national issues,
- 9:31Speaker 2: but local issues. And that's why I think Bruce Blakeman
- 9:35Speaker 2: has a real chance to do it, because people know
- 9:38Speaker 2: the state's in trouble. So this isn't about tax policy
- 9:43Speaker 2: in Washington. This is about New York State, and so
- 9:46Speaker 2: I think he can win on that.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Yeah, very well. Said, well, Steve Forbes, great talking to you.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Everybody gets Steve Forbes's latest book, Inflation, very important book
- 9:54Speaker 1: and you'll learn a lot reading it. Just go to
- 9:57Speaker 1: Amazon and get the book, and of course read Forbes.
- 9:59Speaker 1: That's great coverage Forbes Media, Steve Forbes, and we'll see
- 10:03Speaker 1: all over television. Thanks for being with us.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Good to be with you. And I'm so glad to
- 10:09Speaker 2: hear those words play ball.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Yeah me too. Thanks, thanks for being with us. Take care,
- 10:15Speaker 1: take care, thank you. Thanks, and I don't forget coming
- 10:17Speaker 1: up at noon, Buck Sexton and Clay Travis. They got
- 10:20Speaker 1: a great show for you every day at noon. Then
- 10:22Speaker 1: you got the most listened to radio show in America,
- 10:26Speaker 1: Sean Hannity. He's on at three, six o'clock. It's always
- 10:28Speaker 1: Jesse Kelly every night. And then you know, at nine
- 10:31Speaker 1: o'clock Jimmy Fayala. But that's a very funny, great show.
- 10:35Speaker 1: It's every night at nine here on seven to ten.
- 10:38Speaker 1: WR
