- Lucas: Luna, welcome back. Ready for another tiny Danish lesson? Luna: Yes! I've been practicing the days of the week. I can say 'i weekenden' and 'om lørdagen'. Lucas: That's great. Today, let's talk about the weather. We did sun and rain before, but now let's focus on two new phrases. Luna: Oh, I hope it's not too hard. What's the first one? Lucas: 'Det regner'. It means 'it's raining'. Luna: Det regner. Det regner. That sounds like 'deh reigner'. Lucas: Close. 'Det regner' – try again. Luna: Det regner. Det regner. Better? Lucas: Perfect. Now, if it's snowing, we say 'det sner'. Luna: Det sner. Det sner. That's easier. Like 'snow' but with an 'er'. Lucas: Exactly. So if you look outside and see rain, you say 'det regner'. For snow, 'det sner'. Luna: Okay. What if I like rain? Can I say 'I like rain'? Lucas: You can say 'Jeg kan godt lide regnvejr'. That means 'I like rainy weather'. Luna: Jeg kan godt lide regnvejr. That's a mouthful. Jeg kan godt lide regnvejr. Lucas: You got it. Break it down: 'Jeg kan godt lide' is 'I like', and 'regnvejr' is 'rainy weather'. Luna: So 'Jeg kan godt lide regnvejr' – I like rainy weather. But what if it's cold and I'm freezing? Lucas: Then you say 'Det er koldt' – 'It is cold'. And if you're freezing, 'Jeg fryser' – 'I am freezing'. Luna: Det er koldt. Jeg fryser. I can feel the cold already. Lucas: Let's practice. Imagine it's raining. What do you say? Luna: Det regner. And I need an umbrella. How do I ask 'Do you have an umbrella?' Lucas: Great question. That's 'Har du en paraply?' Luna: Har du en paraply? Paraply – that sounds like 'paraply' in English. Lucas: Yes, it's similar. So let's put it all together. I'll be you, and you be me. I say 'Det regner. Har du en paraply?' Luna: Then I say 'Ja, her er en paraply. Det er koldt, jeg fryser.' Lucas: Perfect. Now let's switch. You ask me. Luna: Det regner. Har du en paraply? Lucas: Ja, her er en paraply. Tak. Det er koldt, jeg fryser. Luna: And I say 'Jeg kan godt lide regnvejr' – because I do. Lucas: Nice. You just used all the phrases. Let's review: 'det regner', 'det sner', 'Jeg kan godt lide regnvejr', 'Det er koldt', 'Jeg fryser', 'Har du en paraply?' Luna: That's six phrases. I think I can remember them. But I'll practice more. Lucas: You will. And if Fexingo helps you make progress with Danish, you can support the show at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. So, back to weather. Let's imagine it's snowing. What do you say? Luna: Det sner! And I love snow, so 'Jeg kan godt lide snevejr' – is that right? Lucas: Yes, 'snevejr' is 'snowy weather'. Perfect. And if it's cold? Luna: Det er koldt. Jeg fryser. Har du en paraply? No, I need a hat. Lucas: That's a topic for another day. For now, you've got the weather basics. Practice these, and next time we'll add more. Luna: Sounds good. Tak, Lucas. Lucas: Selv tak. See you next time.
