- 0:04Speaker 1: All right, we're gonna get Alex Cora joining us momentarily
- 0:06Speaker 1: on FT. Excited to talk to the Red Sox skipper
- 0:10Speaker 1: about what he's doing. He's gonna join us maybe in
- 0:12Speaker 1: a minute or two. You gotta talk about the Red Sox.
- 0:15Speaker 2: I got a phone call.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Perhaps the signing.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Maybe maybe Alex Pragman. He's gonna break the Alex Bregman
- 0:21Speaker 3: signing on our show.
- 0:22Speaker 1: I think that's gonna take a little more time.
- 0:24Speaker 4: Maybe not, maybe not.
- 0:25Speaker 5: We'll ask him about it.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Let's get him.
- 0:27Speaker 1: I think he's ready to go. Alex Cora joining us
- 0:29Speaker 1: right now. Alex, great to have you on this show.
- 0:31Speaker 2: How much? How much? How much did you guys just
- 0:34Speaker 2: signed bren How are you guys doing? How much?
- 0:38Speaker 4: How much?
- 0:38Speaker 3: What you just signed Bragman for? You got a phone call?
- 0:41Speaker 3: I thought that was Bregman calling you, saying going back
- 0:44Speaker 3: five years.
- 0:44Speaker 4: Two million, the only person that calls me baseball wise
- 0:48Speaker 4: is Joey your favorite krah Where about it?
- 0:51Speaker 3: By the way, before we even dig into this, he is,
- 0:54Speaker 3: and it's it's Jose. By the way, it's not Joey.
- 0:56Speaker 3: If people that know him know it's Jose. Okay, So,
- 0:59Speaker 3: but I just went last year, I text both of
- 1:01Speaker 3: y'all and I said, who's getting bregnant? I text you
- 1:04Speaker 3: guys separate and you both set back? Is that meant
- 1:07Speaker 3: for the other? Korra brother? So I don't know if
- 1:10Speaker 3: you guys have like telepathy or if you guys were
- 1:12Speaker 3: sitting in the same room or.
- 1:13Speaker 4: What, but it ended up being you not in the
- 1:18Speaker 4: same room. And honestly, like free agent conversations, we killed
- 1:25Speaker 4: that one. We don't talk about it because, as you know,
- 1:28Speaker 4: last year, he got to the point that I thought
- 1:31Speaker 4: he was gonna get him. Like you said, you know,
- 1:33Speaker 4: like I hate talking to my brother about free agents
- 1:36Speaker 4: because you never know, you never know.
- 1:39Speaker 1: That's a fun Thanksgiving.
- 1:41Speaker 3: So we had we had Joe Spota on yesterday, right,
- 1:44Speaker 3: and he's married to Brandon Hydes.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Their their brother in laws through marriage.
- 1:48Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:49Speaker 3: So he said that we can't go together because the
- 1:51Speaker 3: wives talk too much about baseball and they know more
- 1:54Speaker 3: than us. So is that like when you and because
- 1:56Speaker 3: Joey thinks he's the smartest guy in the history of
- 1:59Speaker 3: the game, So like, when you guys get together, do
- 2:01Speaker 3: you guys have a who's smarter contest? Because he went
- 2:04Speaker 3: to Vandy and you went to Miami, no offense. Vandy's
- 2:07Speaker 3: a little better than Miami on the smart scale.
- 2:11Speaker 5: I just.
- 2:13Speaker 4: Like I always tell people, I think Joey knows a
- 2:17Speaker 4: lot about the Tigers, and he knows a lot about
- 2:20Speaker 4: the Red Sox. You know, Like during conversations, I'm like,
- 2:24Speaker 4: hold on, I'm the manager. I know more about our team,
- 2:27Speaker 4: you know. But I gotta be careful. He's still the
- 2:31Speaker 4: older brother. He's a presence. As you know, he'll stare
- 2:35Speaker 4: you down and you know that's when you have to
- 2:38Speaker 4: shut up. But I just let him be. You know,
- 2:41Speaker 4: he's still the older brother, So just just be you.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Joe I love it.
- 2:47Speaker 4: I love it too.
- 2:48Speaker 1: So aside from talking to Joey about you can talk
- 2:51Speaker 1: to us about it. What would you like to see
- 2:52Speaker 1: the Red Sox do this offseason?
- 2:56Speaker 4: Just continue to be aggressive like we were last year.
- 3:00Speaker 4: You know, after the season last year, in November, we
- 3:04Speaker 4: talked about trying to get back to the playoffs. Actually
- 3:07Speaker 4: we talk about winning the division and we needed to
- 3:10Speaker 4: accomplish a few things in the off season, and we did.
- 3:14Speaker 4: We signed Alex, we traded for Cruzchet, we got Chapman,
- 3:17Speaker 4: we got Justin Wilson. So just stay aggressive. Playing three
- 3:21Speaker 4: games in October is not good enough for us. Yeah,
- 3:24Speaker 4: we got a taste. We got back to the playoffs,
- 3:26Speaker 4: but honestly, from my end, it feels like we actually
- 3:32Speaker 4: didn't play it. It was so like short, right, and yeah,
- 3:36Speaker 4: it was a great accomplished getting back, but we have
- 3:39Speaker 4: to be better. And I think listening to Craig last
- 3:42Speaker 4: week in Vegas, he was very very straightforward with what
- 3:47Speaker 4: we're trying to accomplish. We want to be better from
- 3:51Speaker 4: the mount, trying to get somebody that we can pair
- 3:53Speaker 4: up with Bayo and Crochet and offensively, we have to improve.
- 4:01Speaker 4: We we have some holes. We showed it last year
- 4:03Speaker 4: towards the end, and hopefully we can do that.
- 4:07Speaker 5: All right.
- 4:08Speaker 3: How often do you and brez talk? How often do
- 4:10Speaker 3: you and Craig Brezilo talk? Is it every day? Is
- 4:12Speaker 3: it twice a day? Is it before night?
- 4:16Speaker 4: It's not every day, It's not every day, you know,
- 4:19Speaker 4: I get a text from him. Obviously he has people
- 4:22Speaker 4: that worked with him and they connect with me. But
- 4:26Speaker 4: I'd let him be. Man, it's a tough job. I'm
- 4:30Speaker 4: getting to the point now in my job that if
- 4:33Speaker 4: I get too many updates and every every day I
- 4:37Speaker 4: get anxious, you know, I get a little bit desperate,
- 4:40Speaker 4: and uh, I don't want to do that. So whenever
- 4:43Speaker 4: we have something moving, cooking, you know, we meeting with
- 4:47Speaker 4: when we meeting with players, we have some meetings. Whenever
- 4:50Speaker 4: that comes up, he lets me know. But I got
- 4:54Speaker 4: a job to do. My job is to get ready
- 4:57Speaker 4: for spring training, map out the things that we want
- 4:59Speaker 4: to do. Me and Ramon Vaskis who see here in
- 5:01Speaker 4: Puerto Rico, and uh, while we add during the off season,
- 5:05Speaker 4: we make adjustments.
- 5:07Speaker 3: Okay, So here more of you just called John Henry
- 5:09Speaker 3: type of guy you just you skip over, bros.
- 5:11Speaker 2: I know how see, we know the we know how
- 5:13Speaker 2: you are. You just skip them. You just John, listen, John, No,
- 5:17Speaker 2: we need this John.
- 5:17Speaker 5: Thanks.
- 5:18Speaker 3: So yeah, I'm gonna go back to the beach though,
- 5:19Speaker 3: love you.
- 5:21Speaker 4: No, no, no, no. I mean he did an amazing
- 5:24Speaker 4: job last year. I know a lot of people don't
- 5:26Speaker 4: give you credit, but if you look at the offseason
- 5:28Speaker 4: we had last year, Chapman, Justin Wilson, Alex Bregman, Garrett Cruche,
- 5:34Speaker 4: three All stars. Wilson was great. So uh let him
- 5:37Speaker 4: be let let let him do the job. Obviously, he
- 5:40Speaker 4: will ask me about how I see it. But at
- 5:42Speaker 4: the end of the day, you know, we we make
- 5:44Speaker 4: decision based on what we have to improve on our
- 5:47Speaker 4: forty men roster and our twenty six men roster, and
- 5:50Speaker 4: hopefully we can do that.
- 5:52Speaker 5: How did you how did you feel your defense was
- 5:55Speaker 5: as a team as a whole for the season, because
- 5:58Speaker 5: you talked about things you need to improve And my
- 6:01Speaker 5: second question will kind of depend on what you how
- 6:03Speaker 5: you answer.
- 6:04Speaker 4: That, Well, we have the best defensive outfield in the
- 6:07Speaker 4: big leagues if you go by the metrics. And this
- 6:11Speaker 4: this is a trick question because, uh, two years ago
- 6:14Speaker 4: or three years ago, although we have led the league
- 6:18Speaker 4: in errors for for three or four years. You know,
- 6:22Speaker 4: people talk about the metrics, right, Uh, defensive run saves
- 6:28Speaker 4: when we when they talk about the catchers, you know, uh,
- 6:31Speaker 4: framing numbers and all that. Last year, Carlos was really good.
- 6:34Speaker 4: Hard field defense was good. I think as far as
- 6:37Speaker 4: like defensive run staves. We were fifth in the league.
- 6:40Speaker 4: The tree of the outfielders, we have two Gold Glovers.
- 6:43Speaker 4: One should have been a Platinum uh winner rough Eyelight.
- 6:48Speaker 4: I don't know how that works, you know, but he
- 6:50Speaker 4: should be. So we were okay, erratic early in the season.
- 6:54Speaker 4: I think our pitching staff can do better holding runners
- 6:58Speaker 4: and uh, you know, doing the pfps we weren't good.
- 7:03Speaker 4: So I don't know. Going back to the question C plus,
- 7:07Speaker 4: so we have to improve.
- 7:11Speaker 1: AJ We're gonna do things a little bit differently.
- 7:13Speaker 5: Here.
- 7:14Speaker 1: I am wearing the Perfect Gene and I remember seeing
- 7:17Speaker 1: ads for the Perfect Gene like most comfortable fit ever,
- 7:21Speaker 1: perfect fit on your body, and I was like, I'm
- 7:25Speaker 1: not buying it. Now I'm buying it and we're showing
- 7:29Speaker 1: it off on FT.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Please get off my desk. First of all, Scott, Second
- 7:32Speaker 3: of all, I was with you. I was skeptical about
- 7:34Speaker 3: perfect Gene and then I got a pair and the
- 7:36Speaker 3: fitting was perfect. And my body's not hard to fix
- 7:39Speaker 3: is I got a big old rear and big old
- 7:41Speaker 3: legs from years of squatting, and they fit perfectly. They're stretchy,
- 7:44Speaker 3: they're comfortable, they're fashionable, They're everything I look for in
- 7:47Speaker 3: a gene.
- 7:48Speaker 2: And now I have an extra pair and I'm gonna
- 7:49Speaker 2: wear them all the time.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Foul fifteen is the code at the Perfect Gene dot NYC.
- 7:54Speaker 1: FT listeners get fifteen percent off your first order, plus

- 8:08Speaker 1: where you heard about them. Please support the show and
- 8:10Speaker 1: tell them Foul Territory sent you.
- 8:11Speaker 3: Rafaela is he possibly moving back to the infield, because
- 8:14Speaker 3: I know he was great in the outfield, but he
- 8:17Speaker 3: also has value in the infield.
- 8:20Speaker 4: He he has a lot of value, but he's the
- 8:24Speaker 4: lead in center field. He's a game changer. The one
- 8:28Speaker 4: thing we're going to challenge him again. He's offensively this guy,
- 8:32Speaker 4: as you remember, there was a I think it was
- 8:35Speaker 4: right before the All Star break. Offensively he was locked
- 8:38Speaker 4: in chasing too many pitches, doing some damage, pulling ball
- 8:42Speaker 4: in the air. And then towards the end of the
- 8:44Speaker 4: season he ran out of gas. And this is the
- 8:46Speaker 4: second time, you know, his career, you know, obviously two
- 8:49Speaker 4: full seasons that you know, September is tough for him.
- 8:53Speaker 5: He's he.
- 8:55Speaker 4: Waits one sixty man and to play one sixty two games.
- 8:58Speaker 4: He's hard, So challenge him, challenge him, you know, physically
- 9:03Speaker 4: get stronger, get bigger and stronger, and then defensively just
- 9:07Speaker 4: keeping as long as possible in center field because he's
- 9:12Speaker 4: that good.
- 9:14Speaker 5: Have you ever seen it, because obviously you go with
- 9:16Speaker 5: comps comparisons. Have you seen somebody chase and swing it's
- 9:21Speaker 5: so much and then say, you know what, I can
- 9:24Speaker 5: make these decisions. I can make the change that needs
- 9:27Speaker 5: to be made to take that next level offensively. Have
- 9:30Speaker 5: you seen other guys that you've played with, or coached
- 9:33Speaker 5: or managed that have made that change, Because that's a
- 9:35Speaker 5: tough thing to do. It's like somebody that doesn't very hard.
- 9:38Speaker 5: You got to swing.
- 9:41Speaker 4: Is very hard because you're running into the Okay, we
- 9:45Speaker 4: want you to swing at the right ones, but you
- 9:47Speaker 4: don't want to take away his aggressiveness, right and it
- 9:52Speaker 4: is a balancing act. The one thing that I truly
- 9:57Speaker 4: believe we can accomplish is if we're going to be aggressive,
- 10:03Speaker 4: we have to make sure you know, we do damage
- 10:06Speaker 4: early incounts. And how you accomplish that, then obviously swing
- 10:10Speaker 4: at the right ones, and he can do it. He
- 10:11Speaker 4: can do it. He did it in the minor leagues
- 10:15Speaker 4: early incounts. He's shown some flashes at the big league
- 10:19Speaker 4: level to do that. This is something that in eighteen
- 10:23Speaker 4: when I got to the Red Sox, I challenged some
- 10:25Speaker 4: of the guys you know there were it was the opposite, right,
- 10:29Speaker 4: They were very patient and I want them. I wanted
- 10:32Speaker 4: them to swing early, but swing and do damage. You know.
- 10:36Speaker 4: And if you look at Saddan, there's a few things
- 10:40Speaker 4: that he struggles with. There's a few things that he
- 10:42Speaker 4: can he can accomplish that and that's something we're going
- 10:45Speaker 4: to keep preaching to him and hopefully with time, you know,
- 10:50Speaker 4: and this is you know, experience at the big league level,
- 10:54Speaker 4: he can get to the to the hitter that we envision.
- 10:58Speaker 3: Okay, we're going to go back to this because you
- 10:59Speaker 3: didn't give me the answer I wanted. So how often
- 11:01Speaker 3: do you talk to Alex Bregman?
- 11:03Speaker 2: Do you call him.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Every day and see where he is? Are you flying
- 11:06Speaker 3: to his hometown to hit him ground balls? Are you
- 11:09Speaker 3: flipping to him? Are you trying to bring him back?
- 11:13Speaker 3: It's very hard to get me out of the island.
- 11:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I think my next Yeah, I ain't going to
- 11:19Speaker 4: Arizona to see Alex, but we stay in touch. Uh,
- 11:23Speaker 4: there's a guy that I have a lot of respect.
- 11:27Speaker 4: I really enjoy manage him last year. We have a
- 11:31Speaker 4: good relationship, so we stay in touch, talking about he's
- 11:35Speaker 4: off season and him asking me questions about my kids
- 11:38Speaker 4: and all that. So we talk a lot to be
- 11:42Speaker 4: honest with you.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Okay, that's better.
- 11:44Speaker 3: By the way, is there something that happened at sant
- 11:46Speaker 3: Are you a santaurse crabber?
- 11:48Speaker 2: Are you were you?
- 11:50Speaker 3: No?
- 11:50Speaker 4: No, no, we're We're Kyle's creolios. Kyle was creatos.
- 11:54Speaker 3: Because I saw Johnny Damon down there like throwing out
- 11:56Speaker 3: the first pitch, And was there some something that happened
- 11:59Speaker 3: recently in Centers?
- 12:00Speaker 4: I don't know, No, opening day, Opening day?
- 12:04Speaker 3: Oh it was opening day. Okay, Yes, that's okay, Okay,
- 12:08Speaker 3: So I don't know. You got Johnny to the island.
- 12:09Speaker 3: We can get you off the island.
- 12:11Speaker 2: I'm just saying.
- 12:13Speaker 4: I'll be up the island and I'll go visit you
- 12:15Speaker 4: in Orlando in a few weeks.
- 12:17Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I'm gonna see you there. I'm gonna be
- 12:19Speaker 3: like Alex, come on right here, we're gonna Scott and
- 12:22Speaker 3: are gonna be there. You can come say hi and
- 12:24Speaker 3: you can buy me a drink for once.
- 12:28Speaker 5: All right, I'll talk about a guy that's still on
- 12:30Speaker 5: your roster that you guys extended Eraldus Chapman. A lot
- 12:34Speaker 5: was made about when he made on competo. He went
- 12:37Speaker 5: on a podcast and he said he'll never play for
- 12:40Speaker 5: the Yankees again. Do you feel like some of his
- 12:43Speaker 5: resurgence was kind of like spiteful to the yank like
- 12:48Speaker 5: I'm gonna go sign with the one team the Yankees
- 12:50Speaker 5: hate and it's the Red Sox. And that fueled him
- 12:53Speaker 5: to have, at age thirty seven, the season that he had.
- 12:59Speaker 4: No, no, no, it was. I mean, I played thirteen
- 13:06Speaker 4: years in the big leagues, have managed what six or
- 13:09Speaker 4: seven was a bench coach for one, and I have
- 13:15Speaker 4: seen guys that their work ethic has been outstanding. Others
- 13:22Speaker 4: they performed at the Big League devil because they were talented.
- 13:27Speaker 4: And this guy is a combination of both. Just the
- 13:30Speaker 4: way he goes about his business is second to none.
- 13:35Speaker 4: Get him on in the morning, go to the gym
- 13:37Speaker 4: at nine, take his nap, comes back to goes to
- 13:40Speaker 4: the ballpark, his cardio plays catch. It was on point,
- 13:45Speaker 4: you know. And I seen great seasons by relievers starting
- 13:50Speaker 4: with Eric Ganya you know two whatever that was that
- 13:55Speaker 4: was impressive. But to do it at his age and
- 14:00Speaker 4: with all the quote unquote red flax right, you know
- 14:04Speaker 4: he's older. He doesn't throw strikes, his hostpeed pitches in
- 14:08Speaker 4: his own he cannot do that. It was fun to watch,
- 14:11Speaker 4: you know. And the other thing for him to be
- 14:15Speaker 4: willing to sign an extension when he did it, he
- 14:19Speaker 4: really likes Boston, he really likes the program and he
- 14:23Speaker 4: was having fun. Man, And I saw the quotes, and
- 14:26Speaker 4: that's you know, fuel to the to the rivalry if
- 14:30Speaker 4: you want to say it. But I think it's just
- 14:33Speaker 4: a combination of a lot of things. But the credit
- 14:37Speaker 4: goes all to him. You know. He he was amazing
- 14:39Speaker 4: and I'm happy that he's going to be back to us.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Holiday shopping season is here, and we have you covered
- 14:48Speaker 1: from head to toe.
- 14:51Speaker 5: Let's take to talk about an area that's not quite
- 14:53Speaker 5: close to the toes.
- 14:55Speaker 2: Let's get crazy with this holiday season.
- 14:57Speaker 4: Yeah that's me.
- 14:58Speaker 5: Yes, I'm spinning around, but the holiday season. Now, you

- 15:44Speaker 3: Okay, by the way, you played thirteen years, jeez, slap
- 15:46Speaker 3: it in a little flee like you played thirty man.
- 15:49Speaker 2: That's amazing. I didn't realize, you know what. I didn't
- 15:53Speaker 2: even realize.
- 15:53Speaker 4: That if I was playing nowadays, I'll be playing thirteen
- 15:57Speaker 4: years in triple A. I'll tell you that.
- 16:02Speaker 3: Anyway, you people, I'm getting way off to I know
- 16:05Speaker 3: we got but do you had the you had to
- 16:08Speaker 3: won at bat that everybody remembers. Do you know that
- 16:10Speaker 3: I was catching during that bat and I got absolutely
- 16:13Speaker 3: obliterated when I came in the dugout because you had
- 16:16Speaker 3: like a twenty pitch at bat and you hit a
- 16:17Speaker 3: home run.
- 16:18Speaker 2: It was in Dodger.
- 16:19Speaker 3: Stadium, and we just kept throwing the heater, heater, heater,
- 16:21Speaker 3: and you finally hit a home run. And I came
- 16:23Speaker 3: in and Felipe lou was like, whoa, it was so
- 16:27Speaker 3: else and I'm like, sleep, did you really think Alex
- 16:29Speaker 3: car is gonna go jep? I mean a j He
- 16:33Speaker 3: wasn't against you, guys, Oh it wasn't. I thought it
- 16:35Speaker 3: was because you had one.
- 16:36Speaker 4: Against against the Cubs.
- 16:39Speaker 3: Oh as Actually you know what good for you because
- 16:43Speaker 3: I'm not a Cup fan, but your dad won against us.
- 16:45Speaker 3: It was like ten or twelve pitches and we just
- 16:48Speaker 3: kept throwing you heaters and.
- 16:49Speaker 4: You kept so it was uh it was matt Cleman
- 16:54Speaker 4: slider cutter, right, cut her yeah, and uh people keep
- 16:59Speaker 4: giving him a credit man, and he threw sixteen pitches
- 17:01Speaker 4: right down the middle.
- 17:02Speaker 3: Bro.
- 17:03Speaker 4: You know at one point you gotta hit one, right,
- 17:05Speaker 4: So yeah, I don't know what was harder me getting
- 17:09Speaker 4: the homer on the eighteenth pitch of Mattie Clement throwing
- 17:13Speaker 4: all the strikes in a row.
- 17:16Speaker 3: But no, okay, anyways, I know there was one, but
- 17:18Speaker 3: I'm wrong. I mean, I'm wrong, but there was one.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Right.
- 17:20Speaker 3: Felipe Louse screamed to me for throwing you this many
- 17:22Speaker 3: pitches and you gotta.
- 17:24Speaker 4: You you actually it was you know four right, were
- 17:28Speaker 4: you there two thousand and four? Yeah, Franklin the lefty, Yeah,
- 17:33Speaker 4: come out of the bullpen. That was the Finley homer.
- 17:36Speaker 4: Remember the walking.
- 17:37Speaker 2: You know I was. I was out of the game.
- 17:39Speaker 3: They defensively replaced me that that game because we were
- 17:42Speaker 3: winning three to nothing, and so.
- 17:43Speaker 4: Let's say war against against Franklin the lefty. It was
- 17:47Speaker 4: a Franklin I don't even know Wayne started.
- 17:50Speaker 2: Yes, thanks for bringing that.
- 17:52Speaker 3: Thanks for bringing that memory up, because we took me
- 17:54Speaker 3: and the shortstop out and we ended up losing day.
- 17:58Speaker 2: They took out putting ransom. Yes, but I barely remember
- 18:02Speaker 2: that game. Anyways.
- 18:04Speaker 3: You're a manager now, you've been managing since what twenty eighteen,
- 18:07Speaker 3: I think was your first year. What is the one
- 18:08Speaker 3: thing that Alex Korra wishes he knew in twenty eighteen
- 18:11Speaker 3: That Alex score in twenty twenty five notes.
- 18:16Speaker 4: The media side of it is very challenging. I still
- 18:23Speaker 4: remember Kevin Gregg in eighteen. He's with the Phillies now.
- 18:27Speaker 4: He was our media relationship, the prison of media relationship.
- 18:31Speaker 4: And he tells me in four myers from tomorrow on.
- 18:36Speaker 4: You got to talk before the workout and after the game,
- 18:40Speaker 4: like what I gotta do this twice And that's something
- 18:44Speaker 4: that it's not easy because the game is the game
- 18:48Speaker 4: and the game has evolved. But you have information and
- 18:51Speaker 4: you talk to people and you're going to keep growing
- 18:55Speaker 4: up as a manager and as a baseball person. But
- 18:59Speaker 4: the media part of it is a challenge. You know,
- 19:01Speaker 4: like right now we're talking, it's gonna come out and
- 19:04Speaker 4: somebody's gonna make something out of this, you know, because
- 19:06Speaker 4: he talked about mccleman, or he's talking to Alex Bregman
- 19:10Speaker 4: every single day, or he doesn't talk to Trep Breslo
- 19:13Speaker 4: every single day. And that's a challenge, man is you know,
- 19:17Speaker 4: you guys call it what soap oper us right like
- 19:20Speaker 4: Days of Our Lives right at one o'clock. I remember
- 19:22Speaker 4: watching that in college. You know, probably Joey didn't do
- 19:25Speaker 4: that in Vanderville, but I did in Miami. But it's
- 19:29Speaker 4: an novela like we call it in Latin America. It's
- 19:33Speaker 4: NonStop and you gotta be on top of it. You
- 19:36Speaker 4: got to know their narrative. You have to control the
- 19:38Speaker 4: narrative and if I wouldn't known that in eighteen and
- 19:42Speaker 4: eighteen was quote unquote simple in that aspect because that
- 19:45Speaker 4: team was amazing, But I didn't know how challenging it
- 19:50Speaker 4: is and I'm still learning that that part of the game.
- 19:53Speaker 5: One last quick one that we probably could have spent
- 19:55Speaker 5: fifteen minutes on Roman Anthony, Roman Anthony getting third in
- 20:00Speaker 5: American League Rookie of the Year voting. What do you
- 20:04Speaker 5: see not his ceiling, but what do you see him
- 20:07Speaker 5: doing next year? Because the future is very bright, but
- 20:10Speaker 5: what do you see him doing for this team in
- 20:13Speaker 5: a new role that he's going to need to take
- 20:15Speaker 5: for you guys to make it to the series.
- 20:17Speaker 4: Yes, the one thing that we still have to quote
- 20:23Speaker 4: unquote solve is him against lefties. And that's something that
- 20:29Speaker 4: as hitters, you know, left handed hitters is always a challenge.
- 20:33Speaker 4: And it's funny because throughout the years, if you look
- 20:38Speaker 4: at our roster, we have this problem. We had this
- 20:42Speaker 4: problem quote unquote throughout the years Castes against lefties, Jaron
- 20:46Speaker 4: Durant against le lefties, William braw against lefties. And there's
- 20:51Speaker 4: a I call it a process, right like the evolution
- 20:54Speaker 4: of the of the hitter. They come up to the
- 20:57Speaker 4: big leagus and we platoon them and it happened with
- 21:00Speaker 4: Roman for a week, you know, and he's gonna be okay.
- 21:05Speaker 4: I see him hitting the top of the lineup. He's
- 21:09Speaker 4: gonna be a debate if we're gonna lead him off
- 21:11Speaker 4: or hitting second or hit him forth. We'll see what
- 21:14Speaker 4: the roster looks when we get to Cincinnati next year
- 21:17Speaker 4: for the home for Opening Day. But he's a guy
- 21:22Speaker 4: that he's gonna keep getting on base. He's gonna hit
- 21:25Speaker 4: for power. I think he was getting to the point
- 21:27Speaker 4: that he was hitting the ball in the air. And
- 21:30Speaker 4: the thing that people don't realize is that this guy
- 21:34Speaker 4: is a great base runner and a good defender. I
- 21:37Speaker 4: think he ended up plus four as far as defense.
- 21:40Speaker 4: He runs, saves, and uh, he's just really good. One
- 21:43Speaker 4: thing that we have to be very careful, and this
- 21:46Speaker 4: happens in every big market, is like people put these
- 21:50Speaker 4: players in a pedestal and they expect them to carry
- 21:53Speaker 4: the offense, carry the franchise to the next level. And
- 21:56Speaker 4: that's not the case. We have to protect him from that.
- 21:58Speaker 4: But as far as the keep him healthy, let him
- 22:02Speaker 4: be who he is, and uh, you know, we are
- 22:05Speaker 4: far away from the best version of Roman Anthony, but
- 22:08Speaker 4: the one we have right now and the one we're
- 22:10Speaker 4: gonna have next year, he's really really good.
- 22:14Speaker 3: So before, since you like Novella's, is Tristan Cassis your
- 22:18Speaker 3: first baseman next year or are you gonna sign pet Alonzo?
- 22:21Speaker 4: We gotta we gotta get him healthy, man.
- 22:23Speaker 2: Uh.
- 22:24Speaker 4: I think Christian is a big part of what we're
- 22:25Speaker 4: trying to accomplish, but we gotta get him healthy. You know,
- 22:29Speaker 4: last year we were talking about Tristan hitting thirty home runs,
- 22:32Speaker 4: driving in one hundred, and that happened right early in
- 22:35Speaker 4: the season. So we're not giving up of him, but
- 22:38Speaker 4: we know that we he hasn't been healthy throughout his career,
- 22:41Speaker 4: so that's very important.
- 22:43Speaker 2: This guy looks so good.
- 22:45Speaker 3: Look Peter a Lonzo like this hitting dingers at the Monster,
- 22:49Speaker 3: the Gators, the Gators. Oh cn clip that clip down.
- 22:57Speaker 4: Never went to college.
- 22:58Speaker 2: He never went to college.
- 22:59Speaker 5: He doesn't know. Don't worry.
- 23:00Speaker 3: Flip flip that, by the way, clipped the Hurricanes.
- 23:04Speaker 1: The Hurricanes, they teach you to be friendly to.
- 23:06Speaker 2: Your Yeah, okay, go to Miami and give back.
- 23:09Speaker 3: By the way, I've said this to thom mkainley, Miami
- 23:12Speaker 3: beat Notre Dame, but they're ranked behind them. Anyways, I
- 23:15Speaker 3: and I'm not a Miami fan, but that's some crap.
- 23:19Speaker 4: You know what. This is the point of the season
- 23:22Speaker 4: in college football the last four or five years, you know,
- 23:27Speaker 4: and I hate to say it, you know, early in
- 23:29Speaker 4: the season everywhere they're back, they're back, they're back, and
- 23:34Speaker 4: now we're what sixteenth in the nation.
- 23:37Speaker 2: Like, man, man, that's a you guy right there, that's
- 23:42Speaker 2: a you guy.
- 23:43Speaker 5: You know.
- 23:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I wait, I wait, because it happens. Unfortunately, it's
- 23:48Speaker 1: really kind of been twenty years like that where you
- 23:50Speaker 1: get teased every once in a while and it just
- 23:53Speaker 1: doesn't do it. It's not a complete season. So it
- 23:55Speaker 1: is what it is. I don't want to talk about it.
- 23:59Speaker 2: Alex.
- 23:59Speaker 1: Enjoyed the offseason, actually enjoy your Well see you in
- 24:02Speaker 1: a couple of weeks exactly. We'll see in Orlando in
- 24:04Speaker 1: our backyard.
- 24:05Speaker 4: Yeah, hey, and thank you for everything you guys do.
- 24:08Speaker 4: I think it's refreshing. It is a great platform. And
- 24:12Speaker 4: there's a reason we talk to you guys because I
- 24:16Speaker 4: think for for the audience that we have now in
- 24:19Speaker 4: the game, and we saw that in the World Series. Man,
- 24:21Speaker 4: you know, game seven broke older ratings, right, and it's
- 24:25Speaker 4: international and all that, and you guys are part of this.
- 24:27Speaker 4: I appreciate you guys.
- 24:29Speaker 1: Thank you well said, yeah, that's why we do it. So,
- 24:32Speaker 1: you know, thank you, Alex, appreciate it. We'll see in
- 24:35Speaker 1: a couple of weeks you will
