- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus, powered by Seahawks dot Com. Now here's your host.
- 0:09Speaker 1: That's a Chope. Welcome into another edition of Hawk Talk.
- 0:13Speaker 2: The Seahawks coming off a tough loss to the Buccaneers,
- 0:16Speaker 2: but we're flipping the script that had the Jacksonville this
- 0:18Speaker 2: weekend bump. And when the season first started, I was
- 0:21Speaker 2: not picking Jacksonville as a tough game. Now, I'm not
- 0:23Speaker 2: a coach, I'm not a player, but when I looked
- 0:25Speaker 2: at this, I chalked it up as a w for
- 0:27Speaker 2: the Seahawks right away.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Just the schedule dropped. I want to look at it now.
- 0:31Speaker 1: It's gonna be a lot tougher matchup.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Yeah, it's gonna be a tough on Mother plans to
- 0:33Speaker 3: get football. Just beat the Kansas City Chiefs on a
- 0:36Speaker 3: weird ending. But you know what, as long as the
- 0:37Speaker 3: ball crosses the end zone, it's a touchdown. They got
- 0:40Speaker 3: some defensive players balling right now. Obviously, Travis Hunter. We'll
- 0:43Speaker 3: talk about all these guys, but uh yeah, they're legit Jacksonville.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Duvall that'll be saying, yeah, I guess so we'll some moment,
- 0:52Speaker 1: Like I said, what's on tap? Jacksonville? What's on tap?
- 0:56Speaker 2: They are four into first place in the AFC South,
- 0:59Speaker 2: wins over Carolina, Houston, San Francisco, and Kansas City.
- 1:04Speaker 1: I'm telling you. When they beat Kansas City.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Knsey's kind of struggling a little bit, right Like watching
- 1:10Speaker 2: that game, I kind of knew just looking at their
- 1:12Speaker 2: players this is a good football team. They might not
- 1:13Speaker 2: get it done in the way that most people, like
- 1:16Speaker 2: you know from a statistics how it looks, but they
- 1:18Speaker 2: compete bump.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Just good football, yeah, just good football. Man.
- 1:23Speaker 3: It's weird to see that matchup, you know, last week
- 1:26Speaker 3: with the Chiefs and the Jaguars, and just see how
- 1:28Speaker 3: it all played out, right, offensive explosions from both sides.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Pat mahomes the weirdest. What are they two and three? Now?
- 1:34Speaker 3: Yeah, it's weird seeing them at two or three. We're
- 1:36Speaker 3: seeing the Jags at four and one. But this is
- 1:38Speaker 3: the NFL.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Man.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Yeah, and first year AED coach Liam Cohen, former quarterback
- 1:43Speaker 2: from UMass where hes all kinds of records started at
- 1:45Speaker 2: this coaching great the SCS level twenty ten. He had
- 1:47Speaker 2: stint at Rhode Island Brown UMass in Maine made the
- 1:51Speaker 2: jumps to National Football League with the Rams and was
- 1:53Speaker 2: offensive coordinator Kentucky, then back to the Rams, then back
- 1:55Speaker 2: to Kentucky, and in twenty twenty four he was OC
- 1:58Speaker 2: for Tampa Bay, where he led a top live offensive
- 2:00Speaker 2: Baker Mayfield said, Bunch Records. Then it became the head
- 2:03Speaker 2: coach of Jacksonville. So if there's anyone that is familiar,
- 2:06Speaker 2: I mean, listen, he was just in Tampa Bay team
- 2:08Speaker 2: we just played.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Yep.
- 2:09Speaker 2: His connections to the Rams in what Sean McVay is doing.
- 2:11Speaker 2: So yeah, it's obviously his own spin on it, but
- 2:14Speaker 2: he's obviously doing some good things down there.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Yeah, he's doing some great things, man.
- 2:17Speaker 3: And you know, you'd like to see young guys getting
- 2:19Speaker 3: opportunity and do their thing.
- 2:21Speaker 1: But it stops here, I hope. So he stops. Yes,
- 2:24Speaker 1: all right, up you want to go? No, you go ahead?
- 2:26Speaker 1: All right? Man? All right?
- 2:27Speaker 3: So the Chiefs and the jack squared up what on
- 2:30Speaker 3: Monday night? So the game was entertaining. The Chiefs got
- 2:32Speaker 3: on the board first went they went nine plays seventy
- 2:34Speaker 3: two yards. Anyway, the Patrick Mahomes passed to Travis Kelsey
- 2:38Speaker 3: was kind of having a Chui year this year.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Yeah, he's not playing bad, but it's kind of quiet.
- 2:42Speaker 3: The Jacks would try to answer, driving all the way
- 2:44Speaker 3: down to the goal line before Trevor Lawrence would fumble
- 2:46Speaker 3: on fourth down and the Chiefs would recover. They then
- 2:49Speaker 3: went ninety seven yards on just five place any with
- 2:51Speaker 3: a Mahomes rushing touchdown, making the score fourteen zero.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Yeah again, so what you kind of expect when that
- 2:56Speaker 2: game started off. But the Jaguars are storing back twenty
- 2:58Speaker 2: one unanswered. Who in a ninety nine yard pick six
- 3:01Speaker 2: by Devin Lloyd. We're gonna talk about him the longest
- 3:04Speaker 2: return touchdown for a linebacker in NFL history, if you
- 3:07Speaker 2: guys remember Bobby Wagner had a ninety eight yard or
- 3:10Speaker 2: against the forty nine ers back in twenty eighteen.
- 3:12Speaker 1: But yeah, he's balling out.
- 3:13Speaker 2: But Jacks will let the Chiefs back in the game,
- 3:15Speaker 2: and Trevor Lawrence was intercepted deep in Jacksonville territory. The
- 3:18Speaker 2: Chiefs would take advantage and find the end zone two
- 3:20Speaker 2: plays later. That tied the score at twenty one. But
- 3:23Speaker 2: after Jacks field goal, the Chiefs would march right down
- 3:25Speaker 2: the field twelve plays, ending with a cream Hunt touchdown
- 3:28Speaker 2: that put the Chiefs up four points with one forty
- 3:30Speaker 2: five left in the game.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Then Trevor Lawrence will come up clutch, driving the Jacks
- 3:34Speaker 3: into the red zone, and after passing the Ferns in
- 3:36Speaker 3: the end zone, the Jacks would have first in goal
- 3:38Speaker 3: from the one yard line with thirty eight seconds on
- 3:41Speaker 3: the clock, no timeouts, and on first and goal from
- 3:45Speaker 3: the one, Lawrence took the snap, got stepped on, fell
- 3:48Speaker 3: to the ground, stumbling, gets back up, falls down, gets
- 3:51Speaker 3: back up, and then goes into the end zone. And
- 3:53Speaker 3: on that play, did you see Chris Jones' effort? Everyone's
- 3:55Speaker 3: talking about that.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Oh, that's a tough one man.
- 3:58Speaker 3: They trying to make the points as saying he thought
- 4:00Speaker 3: that Trevor Lawrence was down. Won in the NFL, you
- 4:01Speaker 3: have to be touched to go down.
- 4:03Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 4:03Speaker 3: It was weird seeing a player of that caliber kind
- 4:07Speaker 3: of get a loaf on that play.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I mean I'm sure he got a loaf.
- 4:10Speaker 2: I know he didn't get a positive on the play.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Usually when you go through game grades, the last part
- 4:14Speaker 2: is to finish. He didn't do it. And again, it's
- 4:17Speaker 2: assuming that someone was down and any play at any
- 4:19Speaker 2: level when you get to the football, you're going to
- 4:21Speaker 2: be right.
- 4:21Speaker 1: And he was wrong on.
- 4:22Speaker 3: That play, Yes he was, Yes, he was Mahomes in
- 4:25Speaker 3: that play. Well, that won the game for him, right,
- 4:26Speaker 3: The Jags win. Mahomes is twenty nine to forty one,
- 4:28Speaker 3: three eighteen one touchdown, one pick six. He also rushed
- 4:31Speaker 3: for sixty yards in the touchdown. He's the team's leader
- 4:34Speaker 3: rusher right now for the Chiefs.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a problem. Yeah, it is a problem.
- 4:37Speaker 2: I mean I'm not feeling bad for the Chiefs right now.
- 4:40Speaker 2: How much have they won for how long? I mean
- 4:42Speaker 2: at one point they had won like twenty four in
- 4:43Speaker 2: a row. I mean it is come on, man, it's okay.
- 4:46Speaker 2: But as we know, you can't kill him, They're going
- 4:49Speaker 2: to be fine. I'm sure, yeap when it vitally happens, okay,
- 4:52Speaker 2: let me know. But I wouldn't be worried about the
- 4:54Speaker 2: Chiefs that all right now. I will say, bump. When
- 4:57Speaker 2: you look though at this Jaguars team, I would say,
- 5:01Speaker 2: what is the number one thing that they do well
- 5:03Speaker 2: that scares you?
- 5:04Speaker 3: They're running the ball? They can run the ball. Etn
- 5:06Speaker 3: is what third in the league? I think when it
- 5:08Speaker 3: comes to fourth when it comes to overall yardage. And
- 5:11Speaker 3: they don't push the ball down the field. I said
- 5:13Speaker 3: this last week about the Bucks too, they don't really
- 5:14Speaker 3: push the ball down the field. Like eleven of Lawrence's
- 5:17Speaker 3: eighteen completions last week or Monday were like under five
- 5:21Speaker 3: or six yards. So these is getting the football out
- 5:23Speaker 3: of his hands. They're running the rock. And then they
- 5:25Speaker 3: lead the league. I think they're plus eight and turnover differential,
- 5:27Speaker 3: like they got some good things going in step books.
- 5:29Speaker 2: No, the Jags again, they're not your old Jacks that
- 5:31Speaker 2: you've been thinking of. I mean, you got to take
- 5:33Speaker 2: it back to what twenty twenty two, they're in the
- 5:35Speaker 2: playoffs with Doug Peterson, and then before that is when
- 5:37Speaker 2: they went to the end AFC Championship game back in
- 5:40Speaker 2: twenty seventeen with Blake Bortles and Ramsey and had that
- 5:44Speaker 2: one little run and then everything else has been bad since,
- 5:46Speaker 2: like back to like Mark Brunell and Brian leftoidge yea
- 5:49Speaker 2: and all that stuff. But anyway, these teams they don't
- 5:51Speaker 2: play often. They do play every once in a while.
- 5:53Speaker 2: So let's know the history.
- 5:55Speaker 1: No, your history.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Seahax lead the all time series six to three. With
- 6:00Speaker 2: all games happening in the regular season, the Hawks had
- 6:02Speaker 2: won three of the last four matchups, though last matchup
- 6:05Speaker 2: took place when the Seahawks took down the Jacks thirty
- 6:07Speaker 2: one to seven at Loominfield. This during twenty twenty one season.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Jacks were real bad that year, finished three and fourteen,
- 6:14Speaker 2: had an eight game losing streak in there. If you
- 6:16Speaker 2: remember that year Russell broke his finger. Gino started three
- 6:19Speaker 2: games in a row. This was the third of Gino
- 6:21Speaker 2: starts that year. Kind of a precursor to Halloween, I believe,
- 6:25Speaker 2: so I was, yeah, and this was kind of the
- 6:28Speaker 2: precursor to Gino winning the job and becoming the starting
- 6:30Speaker 2: quarterback for the next couple of years, because I was the
- 6:31Speaker 2: first game where he really played well.
- 6:33Speaker 1: It was at home. They dominated.
- 6:34Speaker 2: I remember he found Dk metcalf over former teammate Shaquille
- 6:38Speaker 2: Griffin who was down in Jacksonville. The Seahawks win Ginos
- 6:41Speaker 2: twenty twenty four, one to ninety five, two touchdowns, year interceptions.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Alex Colin rest in peace. He was the Seahawks leading
- 6:47Speaker 1: rusher of forty four yards. Tyler Lockey had a big
- 6:49Speaker 1: game one hundred and forty two to twelve receptions Trevor
- 6:53Speaker 1: Lawrence in this game thirty two of fifty four thirty eight,
- 6:57Speaker 1: one touchdown, one pick.
- 6:59Speaker 2: When you throw the ball fifty four times you only
- 7:01Speaker 2: get two hundred and thirty four yards.
- 7:02Speaker 1: It kind of tells you where they are at at
- 7:03Speaker 1: the time.
- 7:05Speaker 2: And this was definitely where, like I said, Gino kind
- 7:07Speaker 2: of found his worth and was a charter for the
- 7:09Speaker 2: next three seasons. So hopefully the Seahawks have a similar
- 7:12Speaker 2: matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguarars on Sunday. But we will
- 7:15Speaker 2: flip our attention to what's going on in the NFC
- 7:17Speaker 2: West and.
- 7:22Speaker 1: The Seahawks or the NFC West champs. Again, what's the
- 7:26Speaker 1: word in the West on Hawk talk? All right, let's
- 7:30Speaker 1: get it.
- 7:30Speaker 3: San Francisco four and one at the top, Hawks three
- 7:33Speaker 3: and two, Rams three and two, got the Cardinals at
- 7:35Speaker 3: two and three. The NFC West two has one of
- 7:37Speaker 3: the best combined records in the NFL at twelve and
- 7:40Speaker 3: eight and three teams above five hundred. The Niners are
- 7:42Speaker 3: all alone in first place after their win Thursday against
- 7:45Speaker 3: the Rams, which I don't think there's gonna win that game, No, not.
- 7:48Speaker 3: They found a way. They found a way. But last
- 7:50Speaker 3: week the Titans beat the Cardinals. The Titans gave the
- 7:53Speaker 3: Seas a big assist with a crazy win in the Desert.
- 7:56Speaker 3: Things have been going real bad for Brian Callahan and
- 7:58Speaker 3: the Tennessee Titans as of late. They cam into this
- 8:00Speaker 3: game having lost their last ten games. That locker room
- 8:05Speaker 3: must be really quiet, really really quiet in that locker room.
- 8:08Speaker 3: And it took a miracle for them to win this one.
- 8:10Speaker 1: How to go down now?
- 8:11Speaker 2: I mean this, Wow, this was an epic collapse. There's
- 8:15Speaker 2: any other way to put it. The Titans, trail twenty
- 8:17Speaker 2: one to six in the fourth quarter, took advantage of
- 8:19Speaker 2: two massive Cardinals mistakes. Mercado, their running back looks like
- 8:23Speaker 2: he's gonna steal the game going to the house seventy
- 8:25Speaker 2: two yard touchdown with twelve fifty one left.
- 8:28Speaker 1: But he dropped the ball right before he crossed the
- 8:31Speaker 1: go line.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Running Backs, receivers, anyone, doesn't matter who you are, run
- 8:36Speaker 2: through the back.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Of the am zone before you anything with the football. Guys.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Yeah, you know what I'm gonna have my kids do now?
- 8:41Speaker 3: Like in rugby, how they actually like jump and touch
- 8:43Speaker 3: the ball in the ground. Oh yeah, Yeah, we're gonna
- 8:45Speaker 3: have my guys dive. You dive to the ground and
- 8:47Speaker 3: make sure you cross that thing. That was tough to see, man,
- 8:50Speaker 3: that was tough to watch.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Man.
- 8:52Speaker 3: Tennessee took advantage, driving eighty yards for the first touchdown
- 8:55Speaker 3: in eight quarters. Calvin Ridley caught it past for forties
- 8:59Speaker 3: laughing at it, Hey quarters ain't seen at the end zone, man,
- 9:03Speaker 3: Calvin Ridley caught it pass for forty seven yards during
- 9:05Speaker 3: the scoring drive. It was just capped by Tony Pollar's
- 9:08Speaker 3: one yard touchdown run, making it twenty one to twelve,
- 9:11Speaker 3: but the Titans missed the extra point.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Yeah, and then it gets more bad for Arizona. Another
- 9:17Speaker 2: huge mistake. They intercept ward and then they immediately fumbled football.
- 9:21Speaker 2: It bounces around all over the field and our former friend,
- 9:24Speaker 2: our guy, Tyler Lockett balls on the ball in the
- 9:26Speaker 2: end zone, cutting on. The Cardinals lead twenty one to
- 9:29Speaker 2: nineteen with four fifty one, and in that moment, it
- 9:32Speaker 2: sucks that that's how Tyler Locket's.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Got to get in the en zone, right, Dang, that's
- 9:36Speaker 1: rough man. Big ups, Tyle Lockett, big ups.
- 9:39Speaker 3: The cardinalst had a chance to close the game on offense,
- 9:42Speaker 3: but couldn't make it happen. They punted with two minutes
- 9:44Speaker 3: left in war completed a thirty eight yard passed Ridley
- 9:47Speaker 3: on the decisive drive, setting up the game winning style
- 9:51Speaker 3: field goal. Arizona has now lost three straight games. All
- 9:55Speaker 3: those losses come via a field goal on the final play,
- 9:58Speaker 3: the first time that's happened nfait. According to sports Radar,
- 10:02Speaker 3: hey they making records, baby.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Man and Kyla Murray miss practiced again today, so we'll see.
- 10:08Speaker 2: It's not good in the desert right now. That's I mean,
- 10:10Speaker 2: that's stuff. When you look at that. If you're the
- 10:12Speaker 2: coaching staff, you're like, we should be the other way around,
- 10:15Speaker 2: except you lost all the three games. Murray finished the
- 10:17Speaker 2: day twenty three to thirty one, two twenty zero touchdowns.
- 10:20Speaker 2: He did rush for twenty five yards on four carries
- 10:22Speaker 2: in a touchdown. Marvin Harrison four catches ninety eight yards,
- 10:25Speaker 2: and then cam Ward was twenty one and thirty nine
- 10:28Speaker 2: career best the two hundred and sixty five passing yards,
- 10:31Speaker 2: zero touchdowns, and one interception. Go koogs, okay and listen,
- 10:35Speaker 2: I'm all I'm here for it. If the Cardinals want
- 10:37Speaker 2: to keep struggling I'm all good looking at the NFC
- 10:40Speaker 2: West though. This weekend, Cardinals traveled with in need to
- 10:43Speaker 2: take on the Colts, who again we keep asking week
- 10:45Speaker 2: out the week, are they for real? It's looking like it.
- 10:46Speaker 2: They blew out the Raiders last week, so we'll see there.
- 10:49Speaker 2: The Rams are heading to a struggling Baltimore.
- 10:52Speaker 3: It's interesting. That's gonna be interesting match up right there,
- 10:54Speaker 3: the Cardinals or the Rams, like, can can you do
- 10:57Speaker 3: what you're supposed to do? And it's funny I say that,
- 11:00Speaker 3: and you're going to Baltimore and you never say that
- 11:02Speaker 3: about Baltimore.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Can you just beat a team that's down? No, And
- 11:04Speaker 1: it's crazy to think. When you think of Baltimore, do
- 11:06Speaker 1: you think of defense? Yep, yep. The guy that's running
- 11:09Speaker 1: the show here.
- 11:10Speaker 2: I can't tell you how much they probably miss him
- 11:12Speaker 2: down there, because obviously we know he's done with the
- 11:14Speaker 2: defense here. So that'll be an interesting matchup. And because
- 11:16Speaker 2: the Rams, I think they're a really good team, but
- 11:18Speaker 2: you just never know. Going into the last week, everyone
- 11:20Speaker 2: think that's a game they should have, right The Niners
- 11:22Speaker 2: had almost nobody, they didn't get it done, and then
- 11:25Speaker 2: you got the forty nine ers heading on to take
- 11:26Speaker 2: on Tampa Bay.
- 11:27Speaker 3: Other than this, that's the game of the week. Obviously
- 11:30Speaker 3: the Seahawks take priority, but that's the game of the week.
- 11:32Speaker 3: Two four and one teams going at a NFC West.
- 11:34Speaker 3: I think there are four four to one teams in
- 11:35Speaker 3: the NFC right now. Baker Mayfield is if you gonna
- 11:39Speaker 3: keep it rolling?
- 11:40Speaker 2: Yeah, And those are all tough matchups. So I'm hoping
- 11:41Speaker 2: every other team in the NFCS takes a big out
- 11:43Speaker 2: this week.
- 11:43Speaker 1: Get her done. But will football attention back to the
- 11:46Speaker 1: Jacksonville Jaguars. Man up, Hey, who you got? Who you got?
- 11:50Speaker 1: You know what time it is? Man up? Man up? Brother,
- 11:52Speaker 1: man up? Man up? On Hawk Talk Quarterbacks, that's worry
- 11:56Speaker 1: Orris start bump. Trevor Lawrence.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Trevor Lawrenz is down his fifth season after being the
- 12:00Speaker 2: number one overall pick in twenty twenty one. Obviously, we
- 12:03Speaker 2: know how good of a career he had a Clemson
- 12:04Speaker 2: won a National championship, Loston National Championship.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Heisman runner up, thirty nine and three record as a starter. There.
- 12:11Speaker 1: We mentioned it a year before he showed up. Jackson
- 12:13Speaker 1: Jacks were one to fifteen.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Holy Smokes, Senness and then when he got drafted, who
- 12:17Speaker 2: was his head coach, Urban Meyer. His rookiear was an
- 12:19Speaker 2: absolute disaster. They finished three and fourteen, as we know,
- 12:22Speaker 2: and there's some stability with Doug Peterson. Twenty twenty two,
- 12:25Speaker 2: he helps him win a league Division title. I should
- 12:27Speaker 2: say they won the first ever playoff game. They beat
- 12:30Speaker 2: the Chargers when they were down twenty seven zero, if
- 12:32Speaker 2: you remember to come back all the way to win
- 12:33Speaker 2: that game. Lawrence had his best year of his career
- 12:36Speaker 2: four thousand yards, twenty five touchdowns, just eight interceptions, and
- 12:39Speaker 2: he was voted for the Pro Bowl for the first time.
- 12:42Speaker 1: But bump, it's been kind of downhill since then. Yeah.
- 12:45Speaker 3: They took a step back in twenty twenty three and
- 12:46Speaker 3: fell off a cliff in twenty twenty four.
- 12:48Speaker 1: They went four and thirteen.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Lawrence hurt his shoulder in week thirteen and was placed
- 12:51Speaker 3: on ir Lawrence ranks fourth and franchise history and passing
- 12:55Speaker 3: with fourteen thousand, eight hundred and eighty one passing places
- 12:57Speaker 3: with thirteen hundred ninety and a touchdown pass so with
- 13:00Speaker 3: seventy five. Lawrence's sixty three point one completion percentage is
- 13:03Speaker 3: the highest Enfranchise history. That's crazy sixty to three percent
- 13:07Speaker 3: is the highest in franchise history.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Well back in the day, seventy used to be like unattainable. Yeah,
- 13:11Speaker 2: now that's like happens every week.
- 13:12Speaker 1: That's wow.
- 13:13Speaker 3: His ten three hundred yard passing games ring third and
- 13:15Speaker 3: in franchise history. His twenty twenty five numbers don't jump
- 13:18Speaker 3: off the bard. But you know what, it's okay.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Uh.
- 13:21Speaker 3: He's a completing sixty percent of his passes one thousand
- 13:23Speaker 3: and sixty six yards, six touchdowns, five interceptions. He's been
- 13:26Speaker 3: sacked six times. As a QB rating is seventy eight
- 13:28Speaker 3: point two. But they're four and one.
- 13:30Speaker 2: They just it doesn't look pretty like their play. That
- 13:33Speaker 2: touchdown that Lawrence had is a microcosm of their season. Yep,
- 13:37Speaker 2: like everything chaos.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Steven down, phone round, but finding a way to win.
- 13:41Speaker 1: And that's what it does.
- 13:43Speaker 2: The Seahawks defensively, though they took a hit after giving
- 13:45Speaker 2: up by a lot of points and yards of Buccaneers.
- 13:47Speaker 2: It's Seahawks defense rank sixteenth in total yards, lying three
- 13:49Speaker 2: hundred and twenty two per game. They're also twenty fifth
- 13:52Speaker 2: against the pass line two hundred and thirty nine yards
- 13:54Speaker 2: per game. They are tied for second the NFL seven interceptions,
- 13:57Speaker 2: but they fell from third to eleventh and scoring defensive
- 13:59Speaker 2: line twenty one yard points per game. And obviously when
- 14:02Speaker 2: you give up thirty eight points, bump, that'll happen.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Yeah, that's gonna happen. It'd be like that.
- 14:06Speaker 3: Let's look at Sam Donald against the Jacks defense week
- 14:09Speaker 3: after week. Donald just shows that he's one of the
- 14:12Speaker 3: best in the game right now.
- 14:13Speaker 1: He really is.
- 14:13Speaker 3: I can you can look at the interception, I get that,
- 14:16Speaker 3: but we if you are a ball Nord, you know
- 14:19Speaker 3: exactly what was going on there. He's twenty eight our
- 14:22Speaker 3: last week was twenty of thirty four for three forty one,
- 14:24Speaker 3: four touchdowns in one interception, with a QB rating of
- 14:26Speaker 3: one thirty five point four, his first three hunder yard
- 14:29Speaker 3: passing game for the Seahawks, third most passing yards of
- 14:32Speaker 3: his career. His record is three forty one and second
- 14:34Speaker 3: most touchdowns in a game with for Donald was seven
- 14:37Speaker 3: of eight, four hundred and sixty four yards and three
- 14:39Speaker 3: touchdowns and throws ten plus yards down the field according
- 14:42Speaker 3: to Next Gen Stats, giving him a perfect one to
- 14:44Speaker 3: fifty eight point three passer rating on such throws.
- 14:48Speaker 1: That good pretty good, pretty good.
- 14:50Speaker 2: And then outside of the pockety's five to six seventy
- 14:52Speaker 2: nine yards another perfect passer rating. So he's doing his thing.
- 14:56Speaker 2: And what I love to see your bump. He's one
- 14:57Speaker 2: among the league's best. Number one in the NFL in
- 15:00Speaker 2: arts per past attempt third and passer rating second in
- 15:03Speaker 2: yards per completion only trailing Lamar Jackson, who's now out
- 15:06Speaker 2: missing missing some time. And then Darnold third in the
- 15:08Speaker 2: NFL and completion percentage seventy to seven point three one. Goodness, gracious,
- 15:12Speaker 2: So I'm excited to see what he can do. Like
- 15:14Speaker 2: you said, he is playing best of his career and
- 15:17Speaker 2: at an elite, top five level quarterback right now.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, he's balling. Man. We mentioned his numbers already
- 15:24Speaker 1: for the year.
- 15:24Speaker 3: What nine touchdowns three in the steps is twelve hundred yards,
- 15:27Speaker 3: sacks six times, and three those sacks came in one
- 15:28Speaker 3: game before that he was he was actually pretty clean
- 15:31Speaker 3: on the season. The Jags are twenty third in total defense,
- 15:33Speaker 3: allowing three hundred and forty eight yards per game. They
- 15:36Speaker 3: rate twenty seventh against the pass, allowing to fifty They are, however,
- 15:39Speaker 3: eighth in the NFL end points per game allowing just twenty.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Yeah, there again they play. They're playing just grinding out football.
- 15:47Speaker 2: Nothing about their statistics really jump off the page for
- 15:50Speaker 2: you as an individuals, but as a unit, they're figuring
- 15:53Speaker 2: out ways to win, just like they're running back Trevor
- 15:55Speaker 2: Lawrence's former teammate, Traves etn He he's Emergers one. I'm
- 16:00Speaker 2: the best in the game and it's his career trajectory
- 16:02Speaker 2: has been interesting. So he's drafted twenty fifth overall in
- 16:04Speaker 2: the twenty twenty one draft out of Clemson. Like I said,
- 16:06Speaker 2: teammates with Trevor, Lawrence did up bunch in college, put
- 16:09Speaker 2: up great numbers. Then he had a Liz Frank injury
- 16:11Speaker 2: his rookie year didn't play. Some might look at his
- 16:14Speaker 2: blessing the Skies as his buddy Trevor. That year under
- 16:17Speaker 2: Irbermeyer was just a nightmare for everybody. But then since
- 16:20Speaker 2: after that, he rushed for one thousand yards back back
- 16:22Speaker 2: seasons in twenty twenty two and twenty twenty three. He
- 16:24Speaker 2: also had eleven rushing touchdowns in twenty three, but things
- 16:27Speaker 2: really fell off in twenty twenty four bump, he only
- 16:29Speaker 2: rushed for five hundred and fifty eight yards in a
- 16:31Speaker 2: reduced role. Tank Bigsby, who's been traded to the Eagles.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Last month's rush for seven hundred and sixty six yards,
- 16:37Speaker 2: so he kind of went to the number one back.
- 16:39Speaker 2: He's been involved in trade talk all off season, but
- 16:41Speaker 2: he's responding in a huge way. He's fourth in the
- 16:43Speaker 2: NFL and rushing four hundred and forty three yards in
- 16:45Speaker 2: fourth and yards per game in eighty eight point six.
- 16:48Speaker 2: He's also second in the NFL and yards per carry
- 16:50Speaker 2: it five point eight. He's doing his thing. He joined
- 16:53Speaker 2: a podcast with the Jags and he just said, I
- 16:56Speaker 2: got to earn it every week. It's not guaranteed. It's
- 16:58Speaker 2: not given to me. The third year, I kind of
- 17:01Speaker 2: took it for granted that was going to be accessful year.
- 17:03Speaker 2: That didn't happen. He's locking himself, ben hes one, you know,
- 17:06Speaker 2: so he's locked in. He I think he's taking some
- 17:08Speaker 2: time to reflect and his stat line and his performance
- 17:10Speaker 2: shows it.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:11Speaker 3: He has seventy seven carriers for four hundred and forty
- 17:13Speaker 3: three yards, two touchdowns, nine receptions for forty one yards
- 17:16Speaker 3: and one touchdown. The Hawks are third against the run,
- 17:19Speaker 3: allowing just eighty three yards per game trying to make
- 17:21Speaker 3: a tough for him. The Hawks have not had an
- 17:23Speaker 3: individual rush for more than sixty nine yards in a
- 17:26Speaker 3: game this season. The Seahawks did, however, allow their first
- 17:28Speaker 3: rushing touchdown of the season last week, which I.
- 17:32Speaker 2: Mean, that's a hell of a stat anyway, I mean,
- 17:33Speaker 2: it's gonna happen. Yeah, now it's gonna happen.
- 17:36Speaker 1: But Etnza baller man, yes he is. All right, Let's
- 17:38Speaker 1: look at our running backs.
- 17:39Speaker 3: We got Ken Walker and Zach Sharp and they Statistically,
- 17:42Speaker 3: the Seahawks run game hasn't been that great. They're averaging
- 17:45Speaker 3: one hundred and thirteen yards per game, which rings nineteenth. However,
- 17:48Speaker 3: they are fifth in attempts with one hundred and forty three,
- 17:51Speaker 3: with twenty second in yards per carry. On the bright side,
- 17:53Speaker 3: ken Walker is fresh off a great performance limiting touch
- 17:57Speaker 3: limit with limited touches against Tampa Bay. He rushs for
- 17:59Speaker 3: eighty six on ten carries. You start to see it, though,
- 18:02Speaker 3: it's yeah, it's not happening as fast as you want
- 18:04Speaker 3: it to happen, but the snowball effect is coming.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Well, it's he's having explosive plays, explosive runs, and what
- 18:10Speaker 2: I like is a production. But like He's now cracked
- 18:13Speaker 2: into the top ten in rushing National Football League.
- 18:16Speaker 1: That means something to me.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Three hundred and thirty yards on the season, So they're
- 18:19Speaker 2: improving little by little and I'm just like it what
- 18:21Speaker 2: we're seeing.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Obviously, Zach Sharbonna is doing his thing as well.
- 18:24Speaker 2: He had a touchdown last week, so it'll be interesting
- 18:26Speaker 2: to see Walker sixty eight carries three hundred and thirty
- 18:28Speaker 2: yards three touchdowns on the season. So now the Jags
- 18:32Speaker 2: are eleventh in the NFL, allowing just ninety seven yards
- 18:34Speaker 2: per game, so we'll see it kind of how that
- 18:36Speaker 2: rocks out defensively. But talk about these receivers for Jacksonville
- 18:40Speaker 2: yet two first round picks. Yeah yeah, Brian Thomas my
- 18:43Speaker 2: man is for real.
- 18:44Speaker 3: He's a twenty third pick overall in twenty twenty four
- 18:46Speaker 3: draft out of LSU, LSU Bama, Ohio State, Whiteaull University
- 18:51Speaker 3: in Rotation right there, I mean, burst into the seams
- 18:54Speaker 3: a scene. As a rookie, you made the Pro Bowl
- 18:55Speaker 3: that year he had twelve hundred and eighty two yards,
- 18:58Speaker 3: ten touchdowns at eighty seven receptions, would fourteen point seven
- 19:00Speaker 3: yards per catch this year, sixteen receptions, two hundred and forty.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Four yards body control.
- 19:05Speaker 3: He made a big catch forty six yard game down
- 19:06Speaker 3: the sideline, big of Trevor Lawrence.
- 19:08Speaker 1: He threw a heck of a football. Brian Thomas came
- 19:10Speaker 1: down with that.
- 19:11Speaker 3: With that catch down there, you're starting to see it
- 19:13Speaker 3: and well we saw last year, you're starting to see
- 19:15Speaker 3: it again this year.
- 19:16Speaker 1: And then this year.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Boy Travis Hunter, Travis Man. We know what he did
- 19:20Speaker 2: at Colorado. Yeah, I mean it started even before that
- 19:22Speaker 2: with his journey with Dean Sanders. Two way player, two
- 19:24Speaker 2: time All American Big twelve Defensive Player of the Year,
- 19:27Speaker 2: won the Heisman Trophy, a ton more awards that he did,
- 19:30Speaker 2: and that production in that resume got him to the
- 19:32Speaker 2: second overall pick in the draft this past year. But
- 19:35Speaker 2: for me Bo, the biggest question was what he was
- 19:37Speaker 2: gonna do. Are they actually going to play him both ways?
- 19:40Speaker 2: I mean, my guy sixty one, one hundred and eighty
- 19:42Speaker 2: five pounds and I don't even know if I believe that,
- 19:44Speaker 2: And to play both ways in the National Football League
- 19:46Speaker 2: is a tough task. Through five games, he's played one
- 19:48Speaker 2: hundred ninety eight snaps sixty percent on offense, and then
- 19:52Speaker 2: one hundred and twenty six STAPs on defense thirty nine
- 19:54Speaker 2: percent in totality. So he's actually playing a little bit
- 19:57Speaker 2: on each side of the ball more so than I
- 19:59Speaker 2: thought he would.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I know there's been a lot of noise whether
- 20:01Speaker 1: he should focus.
- 20:02Speaker 2: On one side of the ball or not. I personally
- 20:04Speaker 2: probably would lean that way. But like he's the number
- 20:07Speaker 2: two pick in the draft because of his versatility. I mean,
- 20:10Speaker 2: that's baseball apples and oranges. But same with Oughtani. He
- 20:12Speaker 2: gets the money he gets because of what he can
- 20:15Speaker 2: do pitching and hitting. I think Travis under has a
- 20:17Speaker 2: little bit of that. He's had sixteen receptions one hundred
- 20:19Speaker 2: and eighty two yards, thirteen tackles and two passes defended
- 20:22Speaker 2: on defense.
- 20:22Speaker 3: Bum What do you make of how they're using him?
- 20:24Speaker 3: He's I think you're using them right right. You can't
- 20:26Speaker 3: go a hundred both ways. And everything I hear is
- 20:29Speaker 3: that he's in great shape. His conditioning is crazy. He
- 20:31Speaker 3: takes care of his body. I mean, he's he's very
- 20:33Speaker 3: mature in how he approaches this game. Route running's getting better.
- 20:37Speaker 3: You see that he could make plays. Had a big
- 20:38Speaker 3: reception last week against the Chiefs. Defensively, he has two
- 20:41Speaker 3: pass passes defended so far. I believe forgot the corner's
- 20:44Speaker 3: name of their team. Leads the team with seven, so
- 20:47Speaker 3: you see it, you know. But he's a rookie. He's
- 20:49Speaker 3: gonna have to just get used to to the game
- 20:51Speaker 3: and what they're asking him to do. But he's producing.
- 20:54Speaker 3: That's all he can ask for.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Yeah, and neither of there's years or lighting the world
- 20:57Speaker 2: on fire like the guy we're about to talk about.
- 20:59Speaker 2: But they obviously can get down the field and they'll
- 21:02Speaker 2: get behind you. That was an issue last week with
- 21:04Speaker 2: Abuka from the Buccaneers. So you just want to keep
- 21:06Speaker 2: those guys in.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Front, all right.
- 21:09Speaker 3: Next up our guy Jackson Smith and jigbut and Cooper
- 21:12Speaker 3: Cup was coming off a really solid game. Jayson once again,
- 21:15Speaker 3: he was doing his thing. Man, he's coming up another
- 21:17Speaker 3: huge performance against the Bucks. Eight receptions for one thirty
- 21:20Speaker 3: two and one touchdown. Sunday was Jayson's third or one
- 21:23Speaker 3: hundred yard game of the season. He passed Joey Gallaway
- 21:26Speaker 3: for second place in franchise history for the most receptions
- 21:29Speaker 3: in the player's first three seasons with a butt ninety seven.
- 21:32Speaker 3: Jaysen has at least a thirty six yard reception in
- 21:35Speaker 3: every game this season, and he's in He's second when
- 21:38Speaker 3: it comes to receiving yards with five thirty four behind Pooka.
- 21:42Speaker 1: I'm assuming, yeah, only buying Pooka.
- 21:44Speaker 2: And the crazy thing is he went off so good
- 21:46Speaker 2: last week that Jaysn only trails Puka by fifty four yards. However,
- 21:50Speaker 2: Puoka has eighteen more targets and nineteen more receptions, so
- 21:54Speaker 2: the volume that Pooka is getting is way over JSN.
- 21:56Speaker 2: But Jason is still finding a way to do his thing.
- 21:59Speaker 2: Thirty four receptions, five thirty four, two touchdowns. He needs
- 22:02Speaker 2: twenty receptions to pass DK Metcalf for the most receptions
- 22:05Speaker 2: and players first season with you seventeen. Now you mentioned
- 22:08Speaker 2: Cooper cup Bump. What did you see from him against
- 22:10Speaker 2: the Bucks last week? Sticky hands man like?
- 22:13Speaker 3: The separation wasn't great, but I think it was simply
- 22:16Speaker 3: because of the route combinations in the situations.
- 22:18Speaker 1: A couple of third down catches. But now you saw
- 22:21Speaker 1: that he got them grips.
- 22:23Speaker 3: He got them grips, and uh, He's having a decent
- 22:26Speaker 3: season so far, twenty one receptions on twenty nine targets
- 22:29Speaker 3: for two twenty one.
- 22:30Speaker 1: He came up with some big catches.
- 22:32Speaker 3: Like I mentioned, He's now three yards away from an
- 22:34Speaker 3: eight thousand yards for his career. He will be the
- 22:36Speaker 3: one hundred and sixteenth player in NFL history to accomplish that.
- 22:40Speaker 1: I assume that's gonna happen on Sunday.
- 22:42Speaker 2: I would, I would hope. So let's get let's get
- 22:44Speaker 2: our guy in the end zone. Please, let's get our
- 22:45Speaker 2: guy in the end zone. Cooper Cup again. He is
- 22:47Speaker 2: starting to show you obviously why he's here. We know
- 22:49Speaker 2: how good of a player he is, but I'm expecting
- 22:51Speaker 2: another one of these breakout Cooper Cup type games like
- 22:54Speaker 2: for him. I'm talking nine receptions, one hundred yards in
- 22:57Speaker 2: the end zone and then lastly bump.
- 22:59Speaker 3: The guy that his taking this league by storm, Heavin
- 23:02Speaker 3: Lloyd Man. I remember seeing him at Utah and thinking,
- 23:06Speaker 3: this dude is gonna be nice.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Now. We spoke to someone over there with the Jacks.
- 23:10Speaker 3: JP is his name, and he said the first few
- 23:12Speaker 3: years for Devin have been rough, but this year he's
- 23:14Speaker 3: finally starting to come into his own. He was a
- 23:16Speaker 3: twenty seventh pick in twenty twenty two. I mean, he
- 23:19Speaker 3: might be one of the most underrated players in the
- 23:20Speaker 3: NFL right now. He's been consistent. He's uh, He's played
- 23:24Speaker 3: in fifty one to fifty three games. He had at
- 23:26Speaker 3: least one hundred and thirteen tackles in each of his
- 23:28Speaker 3: first three full seasons, and he's coming off the best
- 23:30Speaker 3: month of his career. He won the AVC Defensive Player
- 23:32Speaker 3: of the Month in September twenty three tackles, two TFLs,
- 23:35Speaker 3: three intercessions, three passes defended, and one funbl of recovery.
- 23:39Speaker 1: This man is everywhere.
- 23:40Speaker 2: Yeah, and then you mentioned Monday night picking off Patrick Mahomes,
- 23:43Speaker 2: running back ninety nine yards longest was training NFL scree
- 23:46Speaker 2: for lineback. We mentioned that earlier. Leading the NFL with
- 23:48Speaker 2: four interceptions at linebacker lineback crazy. So he's just making plays.
- 23:52Speaker 2: There's certain I don't want to call it luck, because
- 23:54Speaker 2: when you're in the right position and you're doing what
- 23:55Speaker 2: you're supposed to do and the ball finds you. But
- 23:57Speaker 2: sometimes guys can play their whole career you're at linebacker
- 24:00Speaker 2: and not get four interceptions. Yeah, that four interceptions in
- 24:03Speaker 2: five games is ridiculous. He also have to FuMB recovery,
- 24:05Speaker 2: so he also leads the league and takeaways with five.
- 24:07Speaker 1: He just make plays.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Overall twenty five tackles, two TFLs, four iront's one hundred
- 24:11Speaker 2: and twenty one turned twenty nine or turn yards four
- 24:14Speaker 2: pass defend, one fue more recovery. Probably should know where
- 24:16Speaker 2: he's lining up. Yeah, at all times, at all time,
- 24:19Speaker 2: might have the Seahawks.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Get that done.
- 24:21Speaker 2: And good transition will tell you how the Seahawks starting
- 24:24Speaker 2: to get this victory with path to victory.
- 24:28Speaker 1: After forty five waits for the staff, Michael Dixon puts
- 24:31Speaker 1: it down. That kick is away. If that kick is good, good,
- 24:35Speaker 1: say off twen, it's good. It's a path to victory
- 24:39Speaker 1: on Hawk Talk. Well, it's gotta start with defense. Yeah, Yeah,
- 24:42Speaker 1: got to bounce back defensively.
- 24:44Speaker 2: They gave up a season high four hundred and twenty
- 24:45Speaker 2: six yards in thirty eight points. They also only had
- 24:48Speaker 2: one sack and two quarterback hits. Injuries played a huge
- 24:51Speaker 2: role in that. Obviously, I'm not taking into that for
- 24:53Speaker 2: granted at all. But we know the guys's locker room,
- 24:55Speaker 2: we know they can play better.
- 24:57Speaker 3: Yeah, keep guys in front of you, get after the quarterback.
- 25:02Speaker 3: I mean that's who you were for what four weeks? Right,
- 25:05Speaker 3: and got out to the quarterback. He kept guys in
- 25:06Speaker 3: front of you, So you must do that and be
- 25:08Speaker 3: better tacklers. You're missing a lot of tackles.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Man.
- 25:11Speaker 3: I'm sure that Jack does some of the grades over
- 25:13Speaker 3: there defensively, but it's a basic football man.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Take the football away, Lawrence will turn the football over.
- 25:19Speaker 1: He's showing them absolutely. I think defense, it starts with
- 25:21Speaker 1: this defense, this team, it starts there. They set the tone.
- 25:25Speaker 2: The offense is bawn out obviously, but I think defensively
- 25:27Speaker 2: getting back to what they have been doing, and offensively,
- 25:30Speaker 2: you're coming off your best game. Their confidence should be
- 25:32Speaker 2: sky high. Protect him. Donald did a great job of
- 25:35Speaker 2: that last week. Darnald needs to just be who he's
- 25:37Speaker 2: been and I love what we're seeing. He's slinging the rock.
- 25:40Speaker 2: It's confident. He's making great decisions. All the plays he's
- 25:42Speaker 2: broken down. He is doing his thing. He's playing some
- 25:45Speaker 2: of the best in football.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Find a way to run the rock, get cana and
- 25:49Speaker 1: the ball.
- 25:49Speaker 3: You said he cracked the top ten when it comes
- 25:51Speaker 3: to rushing yards, right, He's a top five type of
- 25:53Speaker 3: back of my opinion.
- 25:54Speaker 1: When he's healthy, when he's grooving, he's good to go.
- 25:56Speaker 3: Let him find that rhythm and if he goes, this
- 25:58Speaker 3: offense is going to go as nice that Sam Donald
- 26:01Speaker 3: threw for three hundred and three hundred plus yards. All Right,
- 26:04Speaker 3: we don't need that. I will gladly accept it. Correct, Okay,
- 26:07Speaker 3: we don't need it. I want K nine to get
- 26:08Speaker 3: a buck twenty.
- 26:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:10Speaker 2: No, I mean we talked so much about running the football,
- 26:13Speaker 2: Pint Kuback this offense, that this identity, this team is
- 26:16Speaker 2: running the football. We're getting bread combs. We're almost there.
- 26:18Speaker 2: We're showing what they can do. Hopefull they can get
- 26:20Speaker 2: that done and play with a sense of urgency. Right,
- 26:23Speaker 2: that's every day in practice, everything leading up to this
- 26:25Speaker 2: play with sensel urgery. Go down there and take it.
- 26:27Speaker 2: The Seahawks are great on the road. They're don eight
- 26:28Speaker 2: in a row. They're great at the ten am timeslot
- 26:31Speaker 2: Pacific time. So get it done. Go want to know Minder.
- 26:33Speaker 2: You can hear us everywhere YouTube, seahaws dot Com, Apple podcast, Spotify,
- 26:37Speaker 2: Amazon Music at series XM.
- 26:40Speaker 1: Man.
- 26:40Speaker 2: I'm excited. I'm excited for Sunday. I'm excited for Seahawks
- 26:43Speaker 2: get back in the win column. Seahawks pre gam show
- 26:45Speaker 2: gets underway bright and early, seven am on Sunday, oh ly.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Smokes your boy lands at ten thirty. Get a few
