- 0:05Speaker 1: NFL Now is a production of the NFL in partnership
- 0:08Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio. Everybody, Welcome to the NFL Now, presented by
- 0:21Speaker 1: Ikea Patrick Claibon. Here in the nfl LA newsroom with
- 0:24Speaker 1: Steve White and Steve We've got players going into facilities,
- 0:27Speaker 1: actual work starting today, actual work starting today. We have
- 0:30Speaker 1: some you know, first year coaches getting their first eyeballs
- 0:32Speaker 1: and all players. You also have some veteran players getting
- 0:35Speaker 1: ready to enter some facilities when they're able to do
- 0:38Speaker 1: so as well. Yeah, the guy's changing teams. We've also
- 0:40Speaker 1: got one of the top tackle prospects in Paris Johnson Junior,
- 0:43Speaker 1: set to join the show this hour. But let's start
- 0:45Speaker 1: the show with what is new right now coming into
- 0:48Speaker 1: the newsroom. And yes, we mentioned that you get a
- 0:50Speaker 1: new head coach. You're able to get a little bit
- 0:52Speaker 1: of a head starting the Carolina Panthers under a head coach.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Frank right already at the facility getting some work in
- 0:58Speaker 1: some bench press's all some deadlists of pull ups, push ups.
- 1:01Speaker 1: And then Frank Wag's old team and Michael Pittman Junior
- 1:04Speaker 1: there walk men. Is that the playbook or the traffer keeper?
- 1:08Speaker 1: Tweet from the Folts, the Boys, Breakfast Club, Shahn's Rise.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Yeah's some great looking sunrise shot. And then there is
- 1:15Speaker 1: the news. This video Covin Curtsey of former NFL corner
- 1:19Speaker 1: Prince of lu Kamara, the workout from Odell Beckham Junior
- 1:22Speaker 1: was successful over the weekend from NFL network insiders Ian Rappaport,
- 1:26Speaker 1: Tom Pellisaro, Mike Garrelfolo and saying one year deal could
- 1:29Speaker 1: be worth up to eighteen million dollars. In there is
- 1:33Speaker 1: the graphic. I have to get some comments from James
- 1:36Speaker 1: Prochet about Odell, Rocket and the three to think that
- 1:38Speaker 1: they might work something out. As we look to Ray Lewis,
- 1:43Speaker 1: the Ravens Hall of Famer welcoming Odell to the flock.
- 1:48Speaker 1: This coming after O'Dell missed the entire twenty twenty two
- 1:51Speaker 1: season from a torn acl that came in a Super
- 1:54Speaker 1: Bowl that he could have been the MVP of Back
- 1:58Speaker 1: across the street from us and so far Stadium. Let's
- 2:00Speaker 1: get a report from our NFL network insiders, Ian Rapport
- 2:03Speaker 1: as well as Tom Pellisero. Ian tell us how this
- 2:05Speaker 1: deal between Odell and the Ravens came together. Odell Beckham Junior,
- 2:10Speaker 1: remember showed up an owner's meeting to meet with basically
- 2:13Speaker 1: two teams, the Jets and the Ravens. Then it became
- 2:16Speaker 1: pretty evident late last week that he was going to
- 2:18Speaker 1: go down the road with the New York Jets. They
- 2:20Speaker 1: weren't there on a deal, but they probably say working
- 2:23Speaker 1: toward a deal. We're trying to get on the same page.
- 2:26Speaker 1: The Jets schedule a visit. That news broke on Saturday,
- 2:29Speaker 1: and really as soon as the news broke, the Baltimore
- 2:32Speaker 1: Ravens were still very interested in Odell, were willing to pay,
- 2:35Speaker 1: really needed him as a number one receiver, whereas for
- 2:38Speaker 1: the Jets, behind Garrett Wilson probably would have been a
- 2:40Speaker 1: number two receiver for a future quarterback Aaron Rodgers to
- 2:44Speaker 1: throw too. At that point, the Ravens got involved and
- 2:46Speaker 1: started engaging agent Zeke Sandu, O'Dell's longtime agent, to try
- 2:51Speaker 1: to get a deal done. Until it's no surprise that yesterday,
- 2:54Speaker 1: right around the time when Beckham was supposed to leave
- 2:57Speaker 1: for New York, supposed to fly for his visit for
- 2:59Speaker 1: the Jets that was supposed to be taking place right now,
- 3:02Speaker 1: the Ravens struck a deal. It is a one year
- 3:05Speaker 1: deal with up to eighteen million dollars, which I know
- 3:07Speaker 1: the up to causes everyone to roll their eyes and go, oh,
- 3:10Speaker 1: what is it like ten million, No, it's pretty legit.
- 3:12Speaker 1: It's fifteen million dollars guaranteed over one year is going
- 3:16Speaker 1: to look a lot less than the salary account because
- 3:18Speaker 1: they're adding voidable years three million and additional incentives also
- 3:23Speaker 1: available for Beckham. So, after all this, after fourteen months
- 3:26Speaker 1: of being a free ag, after several visits during the season,
- 3:29Speaker 1: he gets a deal before his visit to the Jets,
- 3:33Speaker 1: and now the Ravens have a new receiver Ian. The
- 3:37Speaker 1: Ravens really did everything throughout this process to make sure
- 3:41Speaker 1: that Odell Beckham Junior was going to come to Baltimore,
- 3:45Speaker 1: from the constant communication the team officials had with Odell
- 3:49Speaker 1: to the very good meeting that they did have when
- 3:51Speaker 1: he showed up to the lead meetings down there in Arizona.
- 3:53Speaker 1: They obviously stepped up with the contract offer with fifteen
- 3:57Speaker 1: million dollars guaranteed on a one year deal plus reachable
- 4:00Speaker 1: incentives to get him to eighteen million. The likes of
- 4:02Speaker 1: owner Steve Baschatti were in communication with Lamar with Odell
- 4:06Speaker 1: you know who also was communicate with Odell Beckham Junior.
- 4:08Speaker 1: I just gave it away. Lamar Jackson was talking with
- 4:11Speaker 1: Odell throughout the process. We've of course talked a lot
- 4:14Speaker 1: about the future of Lamar Jackson in Baltimore, but here
- 4:18Speaker 1: he is in communication recruiting. You could even say Odell
- 4:22Speaker 1: Beckham Junior to Baltimore at a time that Lamar's situation
- 4:26Speaker 1: remains unresolved. Lamar also posted the photo from their FaceTime
- 4:30Speaker 1: right after Odell agreed to the deal. Potentially a new connection,
- 4:34Speaker 1: maybe the best receiver Lamar has had in Baltimore in
- 4:37Speaker 1: twenty twenty three, assuming Patrick Lamar is actually in Baltimore
- 4:40Speaker 1: in twenty twenty three. Yeah, that's the step that we're
- 4:42Speaker 1: gonna take him. We're gonna have more conversations coming up
- 4:45Speaker 1: with both Ian and Tom as we continue here, especially
- 4:47Speaker 1: here in the next couple of minutes with guys. We're
- 4:48Speaker 1: gonna discuss Odell because he's Odell Beckham Junior. We'll be
- 4:52Speaker 1: back with those guys. And Odell just saying we don't see,
- 4:56Speaker 1: we will see because he's dealt with the injury before
- 4:59Speaker 1: it came back. Was spectacular in his time here in
- 5:02Speaker 1: Los Angeles and Now, as Odell said, we're gonna see
- 5:04Speaker 1: We're gonna see how our folks feel about the impact
- 5:07Speaker 1: of Odell Beckham Juniors Lands the air Line and Mark
- 5:09Speaker 1: Ross joining myself Steve Whites to talk about the Steve
- 5:12Speaker 1: your reaction to Odell's sonning with the Ravens, Well, I mean,
- 5:15Speaker 1: first off, when I saw the money, fifteen million guaranteed,
- 5:17Speaker 1: I was like, WHOA. I don't think any other team
- 5:20Speaker 1: was close to paying that, especially since O'Dell has not
- 5:23Speaker 1: played in fourteen months after coming off that knee injury.
- 5:25Speaker 1: But we know Baltimore, you know that Eric Decasti, their
- 5:28Speaker 1: GM even said at the combine, we swung and missed
- 5:31Speaker 1: on getting great outside wide receiver type for Lamar Jackson.
- 5:35Speaker 1: But this kind of falls in line with what the
- 5:37Speaker 1: Ravens do, guys, because you look at their history, they
- 5:40Speaker 1: have not drafted great wide receivers, but they have signed
- 5:44Speaker 1: veteran wide receivers like ann Quon Bolden, like Derek Mason,
- 5:48Speaker 1: like Steve Smith after they've played at least eight NFL seasons,
- 5:53Speaker 1: which Odell Beckham has done. So this kind of falls
- 5:55Speaker 1: in line when they're signing an outside wide receiver. We
- 5:58Speaker 1: know the potential for Odell to be dynamic, and Odell
- 6:01Speaker 1: is also smart. Besides the money he could have had,
- 6:04Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers should throw the ball to him. He's not
- 6:06Speaker 1: going to Baltimore to catch the ball from anybody other
- 6:09Speaker 1: than Lamar Jackson. So I think this is design where
- 6:12Speaker 1: Lamar and Odell are going to be part of this
- 6:14Speaker 1: connection potentially do some dynamic things in Baltimore. Yeah, Steve, look,
- 6:20Speaker 1: I was part of drafted Odell with the Giants. I'm
- 6:22Speaker 1: always rooting for him. I'm glad he secured that bag,
- 6:25Speaker 1: and I actually talked about this in training camp. Thought
- 6:28Speaker 1: it would be a great fit when we talked about
- 6:30Speaker 1: this in training camp for Odell to go to Baltimore
- 6:34Speaker 1: with Lamar, But at this stage in his career, I
- 6:37Speaker 1: think this might not be the best place. Is he
- 6:39Speaker 1: has to be the number one receiver. I think they
- 6:42Speaker 1: he needed to go to a place where there was
- 6:44Speaker 1: already established number one and Odell can really just be
- 6:47Speaker 1: a spot player and just bringing his dynamic play if
- 6:50Speaker 1: that is still left thirty years old. We talked about
- 6:53Speaker 1: coming off to two ACL, so I think another spot
- 6:57Speaker 1: would have been a little bit better for him at
- 6:58Speaker 1: this point. The Ravens should not be done. They should
- 7:01Speaker 1: still be trying to replenish that wide receiver group. As
- 7:05Speaker 1: Steve mentioned, they've kind of going this route with the
- 7:07Speaker 1: veterans and missed on young guys that hasn't proven to
- 7:09Speaker 1: be a great formula. And just for Lamar, I don't
- 7:13Speaker 1: think this really changes Lamar Lamarci's Odell signs like, all right,
- 7:17Speaker 1: let me run in here and go sign my contract.
- 7:19Speaker 1: I think Lamar is still looking at it as book.
- 7:20Speaker 1: I'm happy for my guy right there that he got
- 7:22Speaker 1: his bag, but that doesn't really change his negotiations and everything.
- 7:26Speaker 1: He's kind of dug into and his philosophy of what
- 7:30Speaker 1: he's trying to get. So we keep mentioning if Lamar
- 7:33Speaker 1: is there, If Lamar is there, I don't think this
- 7:34Speaker 1: changes a lot with his contract negotiations. I hope it
- 7:37Speaker 1: gets done. I hope we see these two guys together,
- 7:39Speaker 1: but this still might be a while. Lance, Yeah, certainly,
- 7:43Speaker 1: I hope. Yeah. O'Dell is certainly hoping Lance that this
- 7:47Speaker 1: Lamar is ultimately back. But as we look, as you know,
- 7:49Speaker 1: Mark was a part of that group that drafted Odell,
- 7:52Speaker 1: he's got the catch memorialized immediately behind him in his shot.
- 7:57Speaker 1: The folks great placement there. Mark. The folks at Owen's
- 8:00Speaker 1: Mills would like to facilitate more of what Mark Ross
- 8:03Speaker 1: did in bringing him more talent. How do the Ravens
- 8:05Speaker 1: approach the draft now that they have Odell on the roster, Well,
- 8:09Speaker 1: I think Mark related out perfectly. I think you still
- 8:11Speaker 1: have to look at wide receiver. Do you change priority?
- 8:14Speaker 1: Maybe you you know, you might open up the priority
- 8:17Speaker 1: from just wide receiver to wide receiver in defensive line
- 8:21Speaker 1: and you can take a look at, you know, another
- 8:23Speaker 1: position as well, maybe be Jean Robinson as a thought,
- 8:26Speaker 1: as a as a guy who's going to become the
- 8:28Speaker 1: next guy to the next guy up, who's healthy because
- 8:31Speaker 1: they have had a hard time keeping Dobbin's healthy. But
- 8:35Speaker 1: you know, for me, you look at the roster composition,
- 8:37Speaker 1: at the wide receiver position, you still don't really have
- 8:40Speaker 1: that guy. You really don't And I think it's still
- 8:42Speaker 1: a concern. You're bringing Aglar and you're hoping he's the guy. Brand.
- 8:46Speaker 1: You have older player, you have younger players in the background.
- 8:49Speaker 1: You have an older Odell Beckham coming off the injuries
- 8:51Speaker 1: as you just mentioned. I think right now you're most
- 8:54Speaker 1: dangerous at the tight end position, and so really I
- 8:57Speaker 1: think this is just an opportunity to me to convince
- 9:01Speaker 1: Lamar to come back and play on that tag and
- 9:02Speaker 1: play this year out and really buy some more time
- 9:06Speaker 1: for Eric to Coston the Ravens to decide what they're
- 9:08Speaker 1: gonna do along with what Lamar is going to do.
- 9:10Speaker 1: So I think oh BJ definitely helps that case, but
- 9:13Speaker 1: I still think wide receiver has to be a consideration
- 9:16Speaker 1: within their first three picks. No long way to go
- 9:19Speaker 1: till we get to the NFL Draft, a couple of
- 9:21Speaker 1: weeks before things get started. The Ravens have a chance
- 9:23Speaker 1: to sign some more players perhaps, but the one player,
- 9:26Speaker 1: of course that plays the most into the circumstance will
- 9:29Speaker 1: be Lamar Jackson. We'll see how things go. Thanks to
- 9:31Speaker 1: Mark and Lance. I'll be back with us as we
- 9:32Speaker 1: continue here on NFL. Now, let's get some more news
- 9:35Speaker 1: from around the league. Get Ian Rappaport and Tom Pellicero
- 9:38Speaker 1: beck as we've got some more visits guys. Well, let's
- 9:42Speaker 1: start with the potential number one overall pick, Bryce Young
- 9:46Speaker 1: from Alabama. One of figure, it's going to be one
- 9:49Speaker 1: of two, him or CJ. Stroud going on with the
- 9:51Speaker 1: other presumably going too. So the Carolina Panthers are going
- 9:55Speaker 1: to host Bryce Young. That is going to be Tuesday,
- 9:58Speaker 1: So fly today then end up in Carolina on Tuesday.
- 10:00Speaker 1: They are currently doing all of the homework looking at
- 10:04Speaker 1: the top quarterbacks before they have to make it. As
- 10:06Speaker 1: they're pretty open. They made the trade, then they want
- 10:09Speaker 1: to narrow down their choices, really come up with some
- 10:12Speaker 1: sort of answer at some point before the draft. Who
- 10:15Speaker 1: is going to be the number one overall selections Chernally,
- 10:18Speaker 1: Bryce Young is in the mix, he said, when I
- 10:20Speaker 1: know they like a lot. This is going to help
- 10:22Speaker 1: them get to know him a little bit better. They've
- 10:25Speaker 1: also met with him at his pro day. They've also
- 10:28Speaker 1: met with him at other time. This is an organization
- 10:30Speaker 1: there's a lot about Bryce Young, but certainly tom this
- 10:33Speaker 1: visit is big for the team that happens to now
- 10:35Speaker 1: hold that first overall selection. I mean, I think it's
- 10:40Speaker 1: fair to say there's been a feeling within the league
- 10:42Speaker 1: that Bryce Young may well be the number one pick
- 10:44Speaker 1: to Carolina. But this is all part of the process
- 10:46Speaker 1: they wanted to go through with all the quarterbacks through this,
- 10:50Speaker 1: which is go in spend time with them. The night
- 10:52Speaker 1: before their pro day. Obviously, attend the pro day, then
- 10:54Speaker 1: bring all those guys into Charlotte, just to make sure
- 10:58Speaker 1: they're making the right decision, given that this is a
- 11:00Speaker 1: once in a lifetime opportunity to have your choice of
- 11:03Speaker 1: all the quarterbacks in the draft. Another one of those quarterbacks,
- 11:06Speaker 1: Kentucky's Will Levis, also on the move elsewhere today. He
- 11:09Speaker 1: is headed to Nashville for a visit on Tuesday with
- 11:13Speaker 1: the Titans. Now, this is an interesting one here. The
- 11:16Speaker 1: Titans are doing their due diligence on all the top prospects,
- 11:20Speaker 1: making sure that they're prepared for any scenario. At number eleven,
- 11:24Speaker 1: Will Lovis is certainly as somebody who from a physical standpoint,
- 11:28Speaker 1: brings a lot to the table. Teams are working through
- 11:30Speaker 1: this process, spending extra time with Levis just to understand
- 11:34Speaker 1: how he operates. That's what the Titans are doing in
- 11:37Speaker 1: this case as well, bringing him in Tennessee. Yeah, I
- 11:41Speaker 1: mentioned the Carolina Panthers having thresh shut in tomorrow. I
- 11:43Speaker 1: actually have someone in right now. According to our friend
- 11:46Speaker 1: Camwelf that is Anthony Richardson, the Florida quarterback, another surefire
- 11:50Speaker 1: first rounder visiting with the Carolina Panthers today potentially in
- 11:54Speaker 1: the mix there at number one. A lot. I think
- 11:56Speaker 1: most people would be surprised for that. But again, you
- 11:58Speaker 1: do the full evaluation, you'll get to all the quarterbacks.
- 12:01Speaker 1: You have no idea what you're going to get when
- 12:02Speaker 1: you really pull back the curtain, do a thorough evaluation.
- 12:06Speaker 1: So that is what the Panthers are doing. Talking Anthony
- 12:08Speaker 1: Richardson today, then he's got the cult. A little bit
- 12:11Speaker 1: later in the week, more quarterback news. Hendon Hooker, the
- 12:15Speaker 1: potential fifth quarterback taken, someone who a lot of people
- 12:19Speaker 1: starting to believe will end up as a first round
- 12:21Speaker 1: ever see what happened, but that is the belief. The
- 12:24Speaker 1: Detroit Lions, who have Jared Goffin as the starter this year,
- 12:28Speaker 1: are hosting Hooker on a visit that is going to
- 12:31Speaker 1: be on Tuesday. Detroit has a top ten pick, and
- 12:34Speaker 1: then they have a middle of the first round pick.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Presumably that would be the spot maybe if they did
- 12:39Speaker 1: end up taking Hendon Hooker, or maybe it's something where
- 12:42Speaker 1: if they trade back they take him. Either way, showing
- 12:44Speaker 1: a quarterback who now seems potentially to be in the
- 12:47Speaker 1: first round mix. Yeah, if you believe that. Hendon Hooker
- 12:50Speaker 1: could be the quarterback in the future. Why would you
- 12:52Speaker 1: wait around? Go get him in the first round? Also
- 12:54Speaker 1: Ian saying Anthony Richardson a surefire first round pick, again
- 12:57Speaker 1: giving me a chance to lobby for the Ian Rappaport
- 13:00Speaker 1: mock draft. It's something I think the people would like
- 13:03Speaker 1: to see. What a publicly pressure for you right now.
- 13:12Speaker 1: After eight thousand, two hundred and sixty two brushing yard
- 13:15Speaker 1: sixty eight touchdowns in seven seasons with the Dallas Cowboys,
- 13:19Speaker 1: he was released back in March. Just one of the changes,
- 13:23Speaker 1: the most notable change to this Cowboys roster in the
- 13:26Speaker 1: twenty twenty three offseason. And it doesn't necessarily stop there
- 13:31Speaker 1: in Dallas. As we look over to the editions, Ronald Jones,
- 13:34Speaker 1: Brandon Cooks, and Stefan Gilmore come over. Zeke there headlining
- 13:38Speaker 1: and losses, as well as Noah Brown, Dalton Schultz, and
- 13:40Speaker 1: Connor McGovern up front. So let's discuss the Dallas Cowboys
- 13:44Speaker 1: and our roster reset as we bring in Jane Slater
- 13:47Speaker 1: in lanserline back with us. Jane, let's start with some
- 13:50Speaker 1: of these changes that we've seen thus far in Dallas
- 13:53Speaker 1: this offseason. Yeah, they've surprised us a little bit. And Lance,
- 13:58Speaker 1: I don't know your thoughts on this, but they typically
- 14:01Speaker 1: aren't that active in free agency, and they, you know,
- 14:03Speaker 1: they did their due diligence. They to go get Brandon Cooks,
- 14:06Speaker 1: that wide receiver. Last year, his trade value was just
- 14:09Speaker 1: a little bit too high for them. This year they
- 14:11Speaker 1: not only get him, but they also get the Houston
- 14:13Speaker 1: Texans to help pick up part of his salary, so
- 14:17Speaker 1: that was impressive. And then the one that shocked a
- 14:18Speaker 1: lot of us was going after cornerback Stepan Gilmour, which
- 14:22Speaker 1: is only going to help make Treyvon Digs that much better.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Jordan Lewis is coming back from a leg injury and
- 14:27Speaker 1: so we'll see how he progresses. And then they got
- 14:30Speaker 1: a lot of the rookie Jarron Bland. What this essentially
- 14:33Speaker 1: does for them heading into the draft though, and I'll
- 14:35Speaker 1: see if Lance agrees with me here, it allows them
- 14:38Speaker 1: to go after the best player available. You know, we've
- 14:41Speaker 1: not gotten as many of the thirty visits as we
- 14:43Speaker 1: typically get in years passed. They're being very careful with them,
- 14:46Speaker 1: but we've at least heard from agents and players themselves
- 14:49Speaker 1: posting them at the Star and they're casting a wide net.
- 14:52Speaker 1: We're seeing DB's offensive linemen tight ends. And just because
- 14:56Speaker 1: they went out got Brandon Cooks and they've got Ceedee Lamb,
- 14:58Speaker 1: it's not scaring them away from bringing in guys like
- 15:01Speaker 1: Zay Flowers and I know, Lance, you've got them mocked up.
- 15:03Speaker 1: For Quentin Johnston who right there in Fort Worth. We'll
- 15:06Speaker 1: see if he gets past the Titans though, because I
- 15:08Speaker 1: know the Titans were highly interested in him. They were
- 15:10Speaker 1: at his pro day, he had a breakfast with them.
- 15:13Speaker 1: But just really interesting. They've shown a lot of patients
- 15:15Speaker 1: in years past and that served them well. If you
- 15:18Speaker 1: think about it. Micah Parsons came to them. They got
- 15:21Speaker 1: Treyvon Diggs in the second round. You could Archie Tyler
- 15:24Speaker 1: Smith was an incredible pick for them last year given
- 15:26Speaker 1: all of their offensive line woes. Yeah, I think he
- 15:29Speaker 1: nailed it perfectly. I think what the Cowboys didn't A
- 15:31Speaker 1: lot of teams will do is they will reach out
- 15:34Speaker 1: to certain players or certain positions so they're not predictable,
- 15:38Speaker 1: so that they don't have to reach on one particular position.
- 15:41Speaker 1: And I think when you look at the Brandon Cook
- 15:43Speaker 1: steel Cook still has good football lef it's just you know,
- 15:46Speaker 1: he's constantly on a carousel from team to team. I
- 15:49Speaker 1: think Dallas is still obviously gonna look at wide receiver.
- 15:52Speaker 1: From cornerback standpoint, I love stefind Gilmour, but he's getting older.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Jordan Lewis you mentioned that, I think you could look
- 15:58Speaker 1: at a nickel cornerback there. And then, of course, you know,
- 16:02Speaker 1: from a running back standpoint, you lose Zeke. You've got
- 16:04Speaker 1: Tony Pollard, who eventually will be back. But I don't
- 16:07Speaker 1: think Ronald Jones gives you the juice that be Jean
- 16:09Speaker 1: Robinson has, So I think running back could be a
- 16:12Speaker 1: real position and another wildcard slot after using Dalton Schultz
- 16:15Speaker 1: obviously would be tight end. But with Bejean Robinson, that
- 16:18Speaker 1: really is a move that would feel like a Jerry
- 16:20Speaker 1: move in the past, But that's a legitimate football move
- 16:23Speaker 1: to me because it takes more pressure off of your
- 16:26Speaker 1: quarterback Dak Prescott, and I think asking Dak to do
- 16:29Speaker 1: a little bit less and relying more heavily on the
- 16:32Speaker 1: running game, that's always been a positive for the Cowboys. Yeah,
- 16:36Speaker 1: looking at our mock drafts over on NFL dot Com,
- 16:38Speaker 1: we got six different mock drafts active right now, six
- 16:41Speaker 1: different picks at twenty six for the Dallas Cowboys. It
- 16:44Speaker 1: could go either way. There is that wildcard and the
- 16:46Speaker 1: boss man who ultimately makes those decisions. Looking at the
- 16:49Speaker 1: roster reset of the Dallas Cowboys, the coaching staff for
- 16:53Speaker 1: reset going on across the division in Philadelphia as Jonathan
- 16:56Speaker 1: Ginnon and Shane Steiken named head coaches back in February,
- 17:00Speaker 1: the offensive coordinator and the defensive coordinator heading elsewhere as
- 17:05Speaker 1: Nick Sirianni's staff sees the shift and as well as
- 17:09Speaker 1: the transactions this offseason have come on the roster of course,
- 17:14Speaker 1: notably Javon Hargrave going over to Santa Clara to play
- 17:18Speaker 1: for the forty nine Ers in the free agency move
- 17:21Speaker 1: for the biggest free agency move, as well as there
- 17:24Speaker 1: was a return of Darius Slay that could have gone
- 17:27Speaker 1: another direction. As we get to the Eagles in the
- 17:29Speaker 1: roster reset and say hello to Stacy Dale's for the
- 17:32Speaker 1: first time today, Mark ross Beeck with us. Stacy, Let's
- 17:34Speaker 1: start with some of these additions that have come to
- 17:37Speaker 1: a team that was so close to winning a Super Bowl. Well,
- 17:40Speaker 1: and Howie Roseman, we trust. Obviously they lost some very
- 17:44Speaker 1: talented players and leaders off their roster from their Super
- 17:46Speaker 1: Bowl run. But I'm quite happy if I'm an Eagles
- 17:49Speaker 1: fan with who they retained and starts with Jason Kelsey
- 17:52Speaker 1: in the middle of their offensive line, I will look
- 17:55Speaker 1: go for them to add a replacement for Isaac Samalu.
- 17:57Speaker 1: That is a big loss. He was very diligent along
- 18:00Speaker 1: that line for these Eagles. Defensively, obviously great that Slay
- 18:05Speaker 1: comes back, Bradberry comes back, and upfront you get Cox
- 18:09Speaker 1: and Graham back, But for me, the loss of Javon
- 18:12Speaker 1: Hargrave is significant when you think about the production in
- 18:15Speaker 1: the middle of that defensive front, Mark and Patrick. You know,
- 18:19Speaker 1: eleven sacks, sixty tackles, ten TFLs. He had sixteen QB hits.
- 18:24Speaker 1: They were all really good up front. They were number
- 18:26Speaker 1: one in terms of sack production, number one and most
- 18:30Speaker 1: metrics defensively or many metrics at least top five last season.
- 18:34Speaker 1: But that's a huge loss to Seattle. So in this
- 18:36Speaker 1: draft I really look for them to target at number ten,
- 18:40Speaker 1: and they've got thirty in the first round as well.
- 18:42Speaker 1: But if Jalen Carter is there, I cannot imagine Howie
- 18:46Speaker 1: Roseman not taking a Jalen Carter type guy. And obviously
- 18:50Speaker 1: they have done their diligence, They've met with privately with
- 18:53Speaker 1: him as people continue to try to pull pieces of
- 18:57Speaker 1: his information. But ultimately, you know, you expect Jordan Davis
- 19:01Speaker 1: to make a big jump to Kobe Danett linebacker, but
- 19:04Speaker 1: I'm looking at that defensive front. He loves to build
- 19:06Speaker 1: in the trenches. And let's not forget Mark that they
- 19:09Speaker 1: have a new defensive coordinator in Sean Desai and maybe
- 19:12Speaker 1: this thing goes in a completely other direction because he
- 19:15Speaker 1: just came from Seattle Seattle and had an extremely young,
- 19:18Speaker 1: opportunistic secondary there. So it'll be interesting to see how
- 19:22Speaker 1: they build off of what Gianna did with the group
- 19:25Speaker 1: and now enter in Sean Desai. Moving into twenty twenty three. Yeah,
- 19:30Speaker 1: and Stacy, you had mentioned Nakobe Deane as well as
- 19:32Speaker 1: his teammate, and that would be a couple of Georgia
- 19:35Speaker 1: guys as we talk about Carter and his evaluation. But
- 19:38Speaker 1: over on NFL dot com, these are our mock draft
- 19:41Speaker 1: projections in the first round. Mark, so much edge, so
- 19:45Speaker 1: much focus on the offensive line and the defensive line
- 19:49Speaker 1: from our guys, what do you think the Eagles are
- 19:51Speaker 1: going to do? As we approach the twenty twenty three draft, well,
- 19:55Speaker 1: so much focus on that because the Eagles may have
- 19:57Speaker 1: had the best offensive line last year, may have had
- 19:59Speaker 1: the best front seven, and that's really what propelled them
- 20:02Speaker 1: to the Super Bowl. Of course, Jalen Hurts emerged, but
- 20:05Speaker 1: Howie Roseman has built this team in an image of
- 20:08Speaker 1: have a great old line, a great D line. The
- 20:10Speaker 1: first thing I would look for in the draft here
- 20:13Speaker 1: with those picks, as how he has shown the last
- 20:16Speaker 1: few drafts, is this man can manipulate the draft and
- 20:18Speaker 1: get extra picks, and get picks next year. The first
- 20:21Speaker 1: round picks may take seconds and make them into first
- 20:24Speaker 1: So that would be the first thing I would do.
- 20:26Speaker 1: If there's somebody there at ten that they really love.
- 20:28Speaker 1: Stacy mentioned Jalen Carter, but even someone like a Peter
- 20:31Speaker 1: Skronski from Northwestern I think is the best offensive lineman
- 20:35Speaker 1: in the draft. If there's someone there at ten that
- 20:37Speaker 1: they feel this is a Pro Bowl type player, will
- 20:40Speaker 1: take him. If not, then I think you'll start seeing
- 20:43Speaker 1: the movement from Howie to get out of that pick,
- 20:45Speaker 1: get extra picks, turned that ten into something more, either
- 20:49Speaker 1: in this year's draft or next year's draft. And then
- 20:52Speaker 1: at thirty it opens it up for a team with
- 20:54Speaker 1: a lot of talent, a lot of losses, a lot
- 20:56Speaker 1: of editions. There still are some obvious positions, as Stacy
- 20:59Speaker 1: mentioned that they could go O line front, safety, even
- 21:04Speaker 1: a nickel corner, and I think those positions, the corner
- 21:07Speaker 1: position in the old lion position at thirty are really
- 21:10Speaker 1: opens it up a lot for the Eagles to have
- 21:12Speaker 1: a lot of different options. Isaiah Fosky from Notre Dame
- 21:16Speaker 1: off the edge, of Mazie Smith inside there, or Clark
- 21:19Speaker 1: Phillips as a nickel guy. So a lot of options
- 21:22Speaker 1: for a team that's really good coming back with a
- 21:24Speaker 1: really strong core of players. But also with Howie Roseman
- 21:28Speaker 1: manipulating the draft, I think you're going to see that
- 21:30Speaker 1: movement and opened up to a bunch of picks and
- 21:32Speaker 1: address a lot of needs. Yeah, it's a wild to
- 21:34Speaker 1: think about all the talent that they have, all the roster,
- 21:36Speaker 1: all the players that they may even still need to sign,
- 21:38Speaker 1: the fact that they have two first rounds picks. How
- 21:39Speaker 1: he could go up ultimately if he wanted to. So
- 21:42Speaker 1: many different ways this draft. Yeah, three of the last
- 21:47Speaker 1: four years, guys, he has moved up in the first
- 21:49Speaker 1: round of the draft. So you're both on point with that.
- 21:53Speaker 1: It's Howie Roseman's world. We're all just living at thanks
- 21:55Speaker 1: to Stacy Dales and Mark Rossen. That big man you
- 22:00Speaker 1: see there is Paris Johnson Junior. He is Bucky Brooks
- 22:03Speaker 1: top tackle in the twenty twenty three NFL Draft and
- 22:07Speaker 1: second team All American. Been on the big stage for
- 22:10Speaker 1: a long time, one of the top recruits top ten
- 22:13Speaker 1: overall recruiting the folks at Ohio State. We're able to
- 22:16Speaker 1: keep him right there, close to home, and there's Bucky
- 22:20Speaker 1: Brooks's top tackle prospects. He's got Paris ahead of Peter Skerinsky,
- 22:25Speaker 1: and we've got Paris Johnson Junior joining us live now
- 22:29Speaker 1: on NFL. Now, as we see the tweet, looking at
- 22:31Speaker 1: the throwback picture of Paris, it's you and three time
- 22:35Speaker 1: first team All Pro Willie Anderson working out in high
- 22:40Speaker 1: school and here we are. What's it been like to
- 22:43Speaker 1: have a guy who's done it at this level, been
- 22:45Speaker 1: so good for so long, helped take you through all
- 22:48Speaker 1: the way through this process. Paris, Well, he's a legend,
- 22:52Speaker 1: and I think you know he's one of the best
- 22:54Speaker 1: people to work with you know for him being a
- 22:57Speaker 1: former player, and you can argue he's one of the
- 23:00Speaker 1: greatest to play the game a tackle and probably the
- 23:03Speaker 1: best right tackle in the game. So to be able
- 23:06Speaker 1: to learn from him, you know, he's been there, he's
- 23:09Speaker 1: made all the blocks, he's been in the situation. So
- 23:11Speaker 1: he's been a great a mentor since since I was
- 23:14Speaker 1: in high school. So to have someone like really to
- 23:16Speaker 1: kind of piggyback off of that, I mean, he was
- 23:18Speaker 1: the guy who played inside, played some outside. You've done
- 23:20Speaker 1: the same. You played guard, You're really established there at tackle,
- 23:24Speaker 1: but NFL teams love guys who are versatile. What do
- 23:27Speaker 1: you think your ability to go inside and out will
- 23:29Speaker 1: do for you throughout this process in your NFL career. Yes,
- 23:33Speaker 1: so just being able to talk with teams and you know,
- 23:36Speaker 1: depending on depending on the team, depending on the team needs.
- 23:39Speaker 1: I have the ability to go inside. I've done it
- 23:41Speaker 1: for a season. I know what it's like with my
- 23:44Speaker 1: size being able, it's a different type of leverage and
- 23:48Speaker 1: the techniques and the steps are different. So already being
- 23:51Speaker 1: in that that situation before, I'm able to take the
- 23:54Speaker 1: skill set from that and be able to be out
- 23:55Speaker 1: in space at tackle. So I think it offers me
- 23:58Speaker 1: to be able to allow it to do a different
- 24:00Speaker 1: things in space. But yet again, if I need to
- 24:01Speaker 1: slide in, I've done it before and I'm gonna take
- 24:03Speaker 1: care of parents. Obviously, you have to frame, you have
- 24:05Speaker 1: the wingspan, you'd said in the pastor more naturally tackle.
- 24:09Speaker 1: What was the process like to you to wait to
- 24:11Speaker 1: get that position in Ohio State? Yeah, So once I
- 24:16Speaker 1: came in, I came in to compete for the right
- 24:18Speaker 1: tackle job with Nick Petite lost his job, and then
- 24:22Speaker 1: I took that offseason with with fire. All I want
- 24:25Speaker 1: to do was just play. So for me, I want
- 24:27Speaker 1: to be a part of the best five, and that
- 24:28Speaker 1: meant for me to be at the guard spot as
- 24:30Speaker 1: a sophomore, and then in the God's time and that
- 24:33Speaker 1: next season, I made a transition to tackle. So for me,
- 24:36Speaker 1: it was just just just want to be on the
- 24:38Speaker 1: field and that's what I had and I made the
- 24:40Speaker 1: most of the opportunity until I took that spot of
- 24:43Speaker 1: left tackle. Paris were canna tell us about your your
- 24:45Speaker 1: college quarterbacks t J. Stroud, who's also joining you in
- 24:48Speaker 1: the first round of the draft this year. Yes, he's
- 24:52Speaker 1: a legend. He's my brother, and he's just a great
- 24:56Speaker 1: guy who first of all, but just as a leader,
- 24:59Speaker 1: but but just as a guy outside the game. But
- 25:01Speaker 1: you know, for me and for most of the country,
- 25:04Speaker 1: he's a number one pick, you know, just because his
- 25:07Speaker 1: ball skills, his ability to stay in the pocket, his
- 25:09Speaker 1: ability to trust his offensive line. I think that the
- 25:11Speaker 1: separate him from other quarterbacks a lot of people aren't
- 25:13Speaker 1: talking about is that he's able to stay where he
- 25:16Speaker 1: needs to be in extend plays to allow me and
- 25:19Speaker 1: to want to be able to work the pockets, able
- 25:20Speaker 1: to work out the defensive ends, which I think is
- 25:24Speaker 1: an underrated ability as a quarterback, to be able to
- 25:26Speaker 1: trust his offensive line. Now you've been around now two
- 25:29Speaker 1: first round quarterbacks in Columbus. People talk about the differences
- 25:33Speaker 1: between CJ and Justin. What do you see the similarities
- 25:36Speaker 1: between these two guys. I think the similarities is just
- 25:41Speaker 1: but you give these guys time and you know the
- 25:43Speaker 1: play is made, and just being able to play with them,
- 25:47Speaker 1: especially with the CJ, especially since I started with him
- 25:51Speaker 1: verse with Justin. I had some plays with him, but
- 25:53Speaker 1: I mostly watched as a true freshman. But is that
- 25:57Speaker 1: you give him time and ball's gone, especially this past year,
- 25:59Speaker 1: There'll be times where me and my left guard that
- 26:02Speaker 1: dining would be a block and a play on play
- 26:06Speaker 1: action and we look at each other like it's gone.
- 26:08Speaker 1: It's a touchdown, just because you know, he has too
- 26:11Speaker 1: much time and we have too much time down there.
- 26:14Speaker 1: It's a touchdown. It's the six yard game, you know.
- 26:17Speaker 1: So playing with guys like him and Justin have just
- 26:19Speaker 1: made life really easy and fun, you know, because you
- 26:22Speaker 1: take care of those guys and you're gonna win Paris.
- 26:25Speaker 1: I love the fact that you are a journalism major,
- 26:29Speaker 1: but you're a writer also, like a lot of people,
- 26:31Speaker 1: you know, they athletes have they want to be on TV,
- 26:34Speaker 1: but you you know, you wrote articles for the student
- 26:35Speaker 1: newspaper there at Ohio State. When you you know, when
- 26:39Speaker 1: you know the craft and then you're getting interviewed, how
- 26:42Speaker 1: do you critique some of the people who are interviewing you,
- 26:46Speaker 1: knowing that you will also have to interview people mable
- 26:49Speaker 1: for your post career. Is something you like doing because
- 26:51Speaker 1: you're a journalism major. Yes, um, I feel like just
- 26:56Speaker 1: taking the classes here at Ohio State and I think
- 26:59Speaker 1: just going through the process myself. But like you said,
- 27:01Speaker 1: now people are pointing to Mike set me to ask questions.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Is that it's really easy to see, you know, who
- 27:07Speaker 1: can relate to athletes or better and who can't. And
- 27:10Speaker 1: a lot of times you see, you know when athletes
- 27:12Speaker 1: when when they get a question that they don't really
- 27:15Speaker 1: like because it was framed a certain way. Then so
- 27:18Speaker 1: a lot of times they get, you know, an irrelevant
- 27:21Speaker 1: answer versus people who know how to get the right
- 27:24Speaker 1: answer that they want to use to write down. It
- 27:26Speaker 1: is because where they frame the question, and it's i mean,
- 27:30Speaker 1: like you know what I mean, you know what I'm like.
- 27:32Speaker 1: It's it's a skill to have. So I think with
- 27:34Speaker 1: me being able to play the game when I'm done
- 27:36Speaker 1: playing and I'm able to turn the mic back around,
- 27:38Speaker 1: I feel like a lot of people will receive what
- 27:40Speaker 1: I'm trying to ask because I've been there before. I'm
- 27:42Speaker 1: not trying to get too personal. I'm just trying to
- 27:44Speaker 1: get right to the point, you know, and we appreciate that.
- 27:46Speaker 1: Paris and well done and looking towards your career, of course,
- 27:51Speaker 1: you've already got your foundation. You've spoken about all the
- 27:54Speaker 1: sacrifices your mom made, selling the house before you enrolled early,
- 27:58Speaker 1: having the job change, I don't want you to spoil anything,
- 28:00Speaker 1: but do you know what you're gonna get mom once
- 28:03Speaker 1: this process is all done. Yeah? So um, first, you know,
- 28:09Speaker 1: I feel like my mom should should have a house,
- 28:12Speaker 1: you know. So she really hasn't had her own house
- 28:15Speaker 1: that she's had to live in for a certain amount
- 28:17Speaker 1: of time because she's been like moving a lot lately.
- 28:19Speaker 1: So I believe my mom deserves a home. And when
- 28:22Speaker 1: I was a kid, my mom always used to say
- 28:24Speaker 1: that she wanted a third coat. So I don't know
- 28:28Speaker 1: how much that costs, but she's been saying since I
- 28:30Speaker 1: was like seven, eight years old, So I'm I'm gonna
- 28:33Speaker 1: make that happen. It's probably I don't know if she
- 28:35Speaker 1: still wants it, but I feel like it's something I
- 28:36Speaker 1: got to fulfill. So yeah, that's what I want. There's
- 28:40Speaker 1: no question there. We can't wait to see you fulfill that. Paris.
- 28:42Speaker 1: Good luck to you, thanks for spending time with us
- 28:44Speaker 1: on NFL Now. Appreciate you guys. Thank you, Paris. NFL
