- 4:11Speaker 1: It's been a little sick, that's been a little under
- 4:14Speaker 1: the weather. Ru has been flourishing. I got some fun.
- 4:16Speaker 1: I got a fun little story with her involved in soccer,
- 4:21Speaker 1: some crack of cold one moments. We'll get in all
- 4:23Speaker 1: that stuff at the first you know what we do
- 4:25Speaker 1: at the top of our episodes, we read the comments
- 4:27Speaker 1: we did read. We shout out the PT sixers out
- 4:29Speaker 1: there and the Milk Team sixers out there that are

- 4:34Speaker 1: feedback to shout you out. We love to feature the
- 4:36Speaker 1: community on the show because that is what the show is.
- 4:38Speaker 1: The show is a community. Got a couple of things
- 4:41Speaker 1: in the works, A couple of things in the works.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Before the dads way, Okay, we can't like fully tease
- 4:48Speaker 2: anything but that conversation that we're just having about potential
- 4:52Speaker 2: PT six meet up first one.
- 4:54Speaker 1: First for the dad's event, Let's tease, do ta is it?
- 4:58Speaker 1: Let's put the pressure I like it on us because
- 5:01Speaker 1: here's what happens PT sixers is. I was telling the boys,
- 5:05Speaker 1: I was like, guys, I have an idea, but I
- 5:08Speaker 1: just this is every area in my life. I'll have
- 5:10Speaker 1: an idea. Whether it's at home, whether it's people that
- 5:13Speaker 1: are in my circle that I work with in business life,
- 5:15Speaker 1: whatever it is here at the shop, I can have
- 5:18Speaker 1: an idea. I love drawing the picture, but filling in
- 5:22Speaker 1: with the colors, I don't do that. Okay, I'll have
- 5:25Speaker 1: the idea, the vision, yep, the thought about it, but
- 5:29Speaker 1: I need others to rally around us and make this happen.
- 5:32Speaker 1: But the idea is our first PT six meetup. Would
- 5:36Speaker 1: hate for the commenters here in local Nashville to put
- 5:39Speaker 1: pressure on us in the comments to make sure this happens.
- 5:41Speaker 1: But the idea is have a trunk or treat because
- 5:45Speaker 1: it is it is October. First, we are in Spootober.
- 5:48Speaker 1: If you guys are not familiar with Spootober, busting with
- 5:50Speaker 1: the boys absolutely dies for spoob or Spootober. Halloween is
- 5:54Speaker 1: not just one singular day, not one singular holiday. The
- 5:58Speaker 1: entire month is a holiday. Decorate your houses, you watch
- 6:02Speaker 1: you watch some spooky TV every day, spook something that
- 6:05Speaker 1: something that is in the theme of spook and Halloween.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Doesn't have to be look. It can be Halloween Town.
- 6:09Speaker 1: It could be something nice that your kids would enjoy.
- 6:11Speaker 1: It doesn't have to be scary. But you watch some
- 6:14Speaker 1: daily programming something in the theme of Spootober. Oh, what
- 6:18Speaker 1: else do you do? Decorate your house Spooktober? Oh, and
- 6:21Speaker 1: then you refer to the month of October as Spooktober.
- 6:23Speaker 1: That is the rules of Spooktober. We're going to embrace
- 6:26Speaker 1: it within every brand underbustle with the boys, you will
- 6:29Speaker 1: embrace it with for the dads, And the first initial
- 6:31Speaker 1: thought with for the Dads is maybe we get a
- 6:34Speaker 1: trunk or treat that could be an incredible lane that
- 6:36Speaker 1: the for the Dads brand lives in, get the kiddos out,
- 6:39Speaker 1: get some food trucks that was your trucks. But again,
- 6:42Speaker 1: that's a lot. Like you know, we gotta get on
- 6:44Speaker 1: it if we're going to do it.
- 6:45Speaker 2: I would hate if there were some pet sikos in
- 6:48Speaker 2: the comments that are local restaurant tours that had food
- 6:52Speaker 2: trucks and wanted wanted to help us out first annual
- 6:56Speaker 2: trunk or treat. I would hate that. We would hate
- 6:59Speaker 2: to pay you, but it would be so much fun.
- 7:04Speaker 2: And I haven't done a full trunk or treat since
- 7:06Speaker 2: high school. My high school did a really great trunk
- 7:08Speaker 2: or treat for the first home game during October and
- 7:12Speaker 2: it was so much fun. Imagine if we pull this off. Yeah,
- 7:17Speaker 2: which isn't It's not huge.
- 7:19Speaker 1: It's just like the expectation for us is low. Yeah right, but.
- 7:24Speaker 2: You saw what I did with Jill's birthday party. You
- 7:26Speaker 2: give me a little direct. You're good at painting pictures,
- 7:30Speaker 2: and then I can go in and I can fill it.
- 7:32Speaker 1: You can make it happen. I can't can fill the
- 7:34Speaker 1: EG gap. I can id the A gap. You can
- 7:36Speaker 1: fill the egg.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Yes, Jill does it too with the birthday party. Oh
- 7:39Speaker 2: I want twinkle lights. I need this and I want that.
- 7:41Speaker 1: That's the keys. You need to get the females involved
- 7:43Speaker 1: because they are they they are better than.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Us, yeah, big time, especially with fun stuff like this, like.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Involving the kiddos. Oh yeah, dude, Like I'm just thinking,
- 7:54Speaker 1: how do we get the dads to show up? How
- 7:55Speaker 1: do we create a good environment for the dads. Hand
- 7:57Speaker 1: out some candy, trunk or treat. Get some community vibes going.
- 8:03Speaker 1: That would be sick.
- 8:04Speaker 2: We know some local musicians, dude, get some music going.
- 8:08Speaker 2: No concert, throw a concert. Well you really need is
- 8:12Speaker 2: just a guy in the guitar.
- 8:13Speaker 1: That's all you need. Or all you need is a
- 8:15Speaker 1: park or a park. Just pull up to a park.
- 8:18Speaker 2: And an acoustic cover of the Monster Map.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe cater some sandwiches, yeah, some z mikes. Yes,
- 8:29Speaker 1: this is amazing.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Ever yeah maybe some sandwiches and ah yeah we could yeah,
- 8:36Speaker 2: we could grill just a country artists They did the man.
- 8:41Speaker 1: They did them all.
- 8:42Speaker 2: We're just throwing at the.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Wall or we were talking about it. You collaborate with
- 8:49Speaker 1: somewhere locally. Gentry forms a pumpkin patch that has kind
- 8:54Speaker 1: of all this stuff set up and kind of theme
- 8:56Speaker 1: around and bring the families, bring the kiddos, the Papa
- 8:59Speaker 1: team Sicko and Gentry Farms has a really big parking lot. Yeah,
- 9:04Speaker 1: very big parking lot every for trunk of treating.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Great for trunk of treating and any locals that haven't
- 9:08Speaker 2: been to Gentry Farms with the little ones, it is
- 9:13Speaker 2: gas dude. We're talking corn maize, big corn maze.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Uh.
- 9:19Speaker 2: The pump The price on the pumpkins themselves, I thought
- 9:23Speaker 2: was like very affordable, very fair price. Hey hey ride
- 9:29Speaker 2: what else did they have out there?
- 9:30Speaker 1: They got everything? Putt putt.
- 9:32Speaker 2: They have a putt putt course.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Swings, playgrounds, stuff to like play like, you know, not
- 9:36Speaker 1: like cornival games, but kind of Yeah. Have like a
- 9:39Speaker 1: you know, hoops that you can cheot on, little rings
- 9:41Speaker 1: that you can toss food to feed the animals the animals.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Corn mazes, yes, the core that corn maze was like
- 9:49Speaker 2: Jill and this was pre scarlet. Jill and I did
- 9:52Speaker 2: that corn maze.
- 9:52Speaker 1: It was kind of tricky. Yeah a minute, It's a
- 9:55Speaker 1: good family vibe. We hit it every year. They also
- 9:57Speaker 1: in the spring have like you know, they got the
- 9:59Speaker 1: flower guards. You can go and pick flowers. They have
- 10:01Speaker 1: a lot of cool stuff. Gentry Farms rips. You know,
- 10:05Speaker 1: it's no free shout outs. I kind of hate shouting
- 10:08Speaker 1: them out only because I love them, and sometimes it
- 10:10Speaker 1: can get a little packed. It gets a little packed,
- 10:13Speaker 1: so people who might be hearing this, So we got
- 10:15Speaker 1: to get out to Gentry Farms, and I'm gonna be
- 10:16Speaker 1: out there just like we did this. Just just take
- 10:19Speaker 1: the credit. Damn man, we got what the dad spot.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Everybody heard that this was the spot down.
- 10:24Speaker 2: Were putting everybody on game. Everybody listening. Yeah, but it
- 10:29Speaker 2: truly that that would be a blast, and we I
- 10:33Speaker 2: think a for the dads meetup or event would be
- 10:36Speaker 2: so much fun. I just love the idea of that
- 10:39Speaker 2: in general. So I'm in paint that picture. We'll fill
- 10:44Speaker 2: it in.
- 10:45Speaker 1: I got some ideas. Everybody's got some ideas, and not
- 10:48Speaker 1: just ideas, but if you have like ways to help us,
- 10:52Speaker 1: that would be Yeah, that would be the ideal message
- 10:55Speaker 1: or comment to get.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Even if it's a I know somebody that knows somebody,
- 10:59Speaker 2: you can just us their contact and we act like
- 11:03Speaker 2: we're in that.
- 11:04Speaker 1: We do a pretty good job.
- 11:05Speaker 2: We can. We can put some stuff together, all right.
- 11:08Speaker 1: And if there is if you we see the interest
- 11:10Speaker 1: in the comment sections wherever it is on social by
- 11:13Speaker 1: the way, at for the Dad's Pot on all social
- 11:15Speaker 1: media channels, you see the interest there, then it's like, hey,
- 11:18Speaker 1: we've got to get this figured out, because it would
- 11:20Speaker 1: be cool for our first like you know PT six
- 11:23Speaker 1: community meet up, to be like a trunk or treat
- 11:26Speaker 1: something in the theme of Spooptober.
- 11:28Speaker 2: It's so easy to get the kids involved with that too,
- 11:31Speaker 2: that that's a no brainer. The kids are coming out
- 11:33Speaker 2: in their costume competition. Oh my god, not judge. Yeah, dude,
- 11:42Speaker 2: you're the captain of Semen Team six.
- 11:44Speaker 1: I did. I got my first little costume.
- 11:46Speaker 2: So yes, you will be a judge. Please.
- 11:51Speaker 1: You know what the shape dead I had to get
- 11:53Speaker 1: the I had to get the bange mass going.
- 11:59Speaker 3: God good, You think your welcome to fold the dads.
- 12:07Speaker 3: You think this stuffy is your You merely adopted this stuffy.
- 12:12Speaker 1: I gave it.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Do you you have to tuck inveryone night.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Which book would you like to read?
- 12:22Speaker 2: Are we doing four or five books tonight?
- 12:26Speaker 1: Yes? She would, she would be terrified. She hates masks,
- 12:33Speaker 1: hates them.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Do you remember that time she was over here during
- 12:37Speaker 2: Spectober and she was playing hide or Seek? And I
- 12:40Speaker 2: almost hid behind those creepy ass dolls that we have
- 12:43Speaker 2: in here. You're like, sum, no, you're going to ruin
- 12:47Speaker 2: my way.
- 12:48Speaker 1: It's like.
- 12:50Speaker 2: My life was going to be hell for like the
- 12:52Speaker 2: next three months this bottle.
- 12:56Speaker 1: I don't want to creep everybody out on the show. Yeah.
- 12:59Speaker 1: So I think I've told this story before, but I've
- 13:04Speaker 1: I've always had like a Michael Myers mask, and she
- 13:07Speaker 1: saw it in the closet one day when she was,
- 13:09Speaker 1: you know, young, she's three years old now, but I
- 13:11Speaker 1: want to say she saw it like in between one
- 13:13Speaker 1: and two. And she's always been terrified of masks, Like
- 13:16Speaker 1: anytime she's in the closet, is the mask you like
- 13:18Speaker 1: to look around the mask like she's got to get
- 13:19Speaker 1: out of the room. But any mask frightens her. Not
- 13:22Speaker 1: a big mascot, she's not. Oh, she doesn't like masks.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Don't like mascots. She likes looking at him in photos.
- 13:28Speaker 1: She thinks they're the bad guys. Oh no, yeah, because
- 13:32Speaker 1: again when she was young and we took her to
- 13:36Speaker 1: was it last year or two years? I think it
- 13:38Speaker 1: was last year. Okay, Povey is only this is his second.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Yeardy right, Okay, we were built at that time.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Yeah, Texas game. And so she met the Commodore, the
- 13:46Speaker 1: mascot for Vanderbilt, kind of came up on us when
- 13:49Speaker 1: we were sitting down, and you know, she I'm talking
- 13:52Speaker 1: like reaching over trying to get to the next parent.
- 13:54Speaker 1: I can't remember if she was on mom trying to
- 13:55Speaker 1: get to me or she's on me trying to get
- 13:57Speaker 1: the mom, but not a you know. Then she saw
- 14:00Speaker 1: the Longhorn in a safe distance, like I'm just trying
- 14:02Speaker 1: to tell her that they're nice, they're friendly, trying to
- 14:04Speaker 1: get her take pictures. She ain't.
- 14:06Speaker 2: I don't blame her. That Commodore was a creepy He's
- 14:09Speaker 2: a little spreaky mascot.
- 14:11Speaker 1: And that was her first encounter with a mascot.
- 14:14Speaker 4: I'll be quick on this. When I was five years old,
- 14:17Speaker 4: my parents did at birthday party at Chuck E Cheese,
- 14:19Speaker 4: and I had to melt down and they had to
- 14:21Speaker 4: I had to leave the place because I thought Chucky
- 14:23Speaker 4: came out and I thought in their little band the
- 14:26Speaker 4: ticket counters it was not They had the live mascots
- 14:29Speaker 4: and the ticket counter was much Munch the ticket monster,
- 14:33Speaker 4: and he would eat all the tickets, and I thought
- 14:34Speaker 4: Monch was gonna come out and kill me.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Oh bro hey, yeah that is to me. I think
- 14:39Speaker 1: everybody can resonate with cheese back when Chucky Cheese was
- 14:42Speaker 1: chuck E Cheese, Like you're going to chuck e cheese.
- 14:44Speaker 1: You are up for that day. As you got older,
- 14:47Speaker 1: get other coins. But when you're young, those those mascots
- 14:51Speaker 1: are freaky bro horror.
- 14:53Speaker 2: Series based on the animatronic and I know the name
- 14:57Speaker 2: of it, Five Nights of Freddie Thank you. Oh yeah,
- 15:00Speaker 2: oh I blanked on that.
- 15:02Speaker 1: I didn't even know that they had like movies or
- 15:05Speaker 1: a show on it. But I'm thinking, like, as we're
- 15:08Speaker 1: talking about them, like they could easily make a horror film.
- 15:11Speaker 1: All those mascots are chuck E Cheese.
- 15:12Speaker 2: And always there was always one that was like, uh
- 15:16Speaker 2: under like maintenance whenever you're there, so the entire band's
- 15:20Speaker 2: playing and the one just doesn't have it spotlight on
- 15:23Speaker 2: and it's.
- 15:23Speaker 1: Just yeah, yeah, yeah, truly.
- 15:27Speaker 2: I mean it was the scariest thing the world. You're like, oh,
- 15:32Speaker 2: why is the duck not playing? It's okay, honey, God Chucky.
- 15:36Speaker 1: You're like trying to listen to music, but the whole
- 15:38Speaker 1: time you're just staring at the one that doesn't have
- 15:39Speaker 1: the lights. Yes, spotlight on them, like Jesus Christ, is
- 15:42Speaker 1: that they gonna move?
- 15:44Speaker 2: I have to bring this up because I loved it
- 15:46Speaker 2: so much. You all remember the Star Wars arcade game
- 15:49Speaker 2: that they used to have at Chuck E Cheese where
- 15:51Speaker 2: you were on the speeder bi.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Yeah, oh dude.
- 15:56Speaker 2: I would spend a whole birthday party on that me.
- 15:58Speaker 2: I was in the Jurassic Park. That's You're like, good,
- 16:01Speaker 2: the jeep or whatever. Yes, the curtains, yeah, go inside, all.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Your stepping in there, you close the curtains. You're like, well,
- 16:08Speaker 1: the Veloci, Raptors, t Rex, big time, big time. Chuck
- 16:14Speaker 1: E Cheese was the very first time I experienced a
- 16:17Speaker 1: drink a beer by accident. I was super young, and
- 16:20Speaker 1: I was obviously a massive fan of apple juice, and
- 16:23Speaker 1: I thought it was apple juice. I just remember taking
- 16:25Speaker 1: a big, a big gulp and then I just dropped
- 16:28Speaker 1: the whole I dropped the whole cup kind of spas
- 16:30Speaker 1: and now it kind of started to cry. Parents are laughing.
- 16:33Speaker 4: It's not they give you the old like, yeah, I
- 16:37Speaker 4: remember how that taste and when.
- 16:39Speaker 1: You get older, my good, it's good. They took a drink.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Now they're gonna hate it when they're older.
- 16:45Speaker 2: My first one was a margarita. Thought it was a sprite.
- 16:48Speaker 2: I thought it was a sprite.
- 16:50Speaker 1: And that's what I feel like it would that be
- 16:51Speaker 1: a terrible first taste. It wasn't.
- 16:53Speaker 2: It wasn't bad, but I definitely was kind of like, oh,
- 16:56Speaker 2: that wasn't spry. And then my dad was like, whoa,
- 17:00Speaker 2: that's not yours.
- 17:01Speaker 4: I don't want to our old John, but in a
- 17:03Speaker 4: coke bottle of this crowning coke, I'll pay four or five.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Sorry dad. My parents used to own a gym when
- 17:14Speaker 1: we lived in Park Hills, and I think it was
- 17:17Speaker 1: called Max Performance. It was just me and my dad there.
- 17:20Speaker 1: One day, he like took me with him into the gym.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Wait, they owned the gym.
- 17:24Speaker 1: They owned the gym. That's back when Billy c was
- 17:27Speaker 1: like an amateur body builder, Like he's always been a
- 17:30Speaker 1: weightlifting sicco.
- 17:31Speaker 2: I didn't know that.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Yeah, back in his that was back in his prime
- 17:34Speaker 1: form he had. I remember one time, like when he
- 17:38Speaker 1: was performing, like doing bodybuilding and stuff. I remember he
- 17:41Speaker 1: had like a he like cut his hair and everything else,
- 17:44Speaker 1: and he had a.
- 17:44Speaker 2: Rat tail in the back. No way, we have to
- 17:49Speaker 2: get pictures of that probably.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Oh my god. I remember coming across it in a
- 17:56Speaker 1: drawer one day because he had cut it off, and
- 17:58Speaker 1: I guess I put it in a drawer to keep,
- 18:04Speaker 1: like something that we would do. You cut something that's
- 18:06Speaker 1: super precious to you, and you just like, I'm just
- 18:08Speaker 1: gonna keep this out. Yeah. Yeah, I remember seeing it
- 18:10Speaker 1: one day in a drawer.
- 18:11Speaker 2: I won't say where, but my mullet. When I first
- 18:15Speaker 2: got here, I did cut it off. It's still in
- 18:17Speaker 2: the office. No one in this office. Yeah, no one's
- 18:20Speaker 2: found it yet.
- 18:22Speaker 4: You found it, Yeah, I found it. Geno's where it
- 18:24Speaker 4: is too. You showed me, damn it.
- 18:26Speaker 1: You You just have it there like as like Auriel,
- 18:29Speaker 1: it is.
- 18:30Speaker 4: It is out like you can find it. It's in
- 18:32Speaker 4: this office.
- 18:35Speaker 1: You're proud of it, proud scard will come across it
- 18:38Speaker 1: one day, Scar Scar drawer, Oh honey, that's your baby's mullet.
- 18:43Speaker 1: I used to be proud of it.
- 18:45Speaker 2: I can tell you some war stories on that one.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Got Billy Compton with the rat tail.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Billy Compton with the rat tail.
- 18:51Speaker 2: Bro I'm talking most muscular, the Jedi braid.
- 18:57Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 18:59Speaker 1: People talk about uh, it's like they I'm super over
- 19:04Speaker 1: the top with the pose all the time. I made
- 19:07Speaker 1: O'Shane Gillis laugh whenever we were taking a photo and
- 19:10Speaker 1: Bert wanted to take our shirts off for a photo.
- 19:12Speaker 1: Whenever we did a podcast at the Super Bowl. Yeah,
- 19:15Speaker 1: but it makes me laugh because I'm thinking to myself,
- 19:16Speaker 1: I feel like there's this subconscious version that where I
- 19:19Speaker 1: just hit the pose because of all the PTSD when
- 19:21Speaker 1: my dad would make me take my shirt off when
- 19:23Speaker 1: I was a young kid, just in front of his friends.
- 19:25Speaker 1: I know I've told that story before. The son it
- 19:28Speaker 1: hit the most muscular. He's got like a you know
- 19:31Speaker 1: what are the Yeah, like a polaroid camera just hitting photos.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Showed me back, and he's got his weightlifting buddies over.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Oh okay, he said. That's the other part of the
- 19:44Speaker 2: story that makes way more since now these are weightlifting buddies.
- 19:48Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I thought these were my dad wanted to
- 19:50Speaker 1: show me off. Whether I'm athletics, yes, whatever it is
- 19:54Speaker 1: like my dad, It wasn't just you know, it's funny
- 19:56Speaker 1: moments of him making me flex, for him to laugh.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Like he is a weight He's always been a weightlifting guy.
- 20:02Speaker 1: He was a sick yes, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mike Mintzer, all
- 20:07Speaker 1: these dudes. This it'd be photos of Dory and all
- 20:12Speaker 1: these people in our garage. Yeah, we're growing up, working out.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Leave no doubt, Leave no doubt. He'd have autographs from
- 20:18Speaker 1: you know, professional body builders, whatever it is. Where he was.
- 20:21Speaker 1: You know, he was like boys with guys. This was
- 20:23Speaker 1: like before I was born.
- 20:24Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, he was. He's a massive weightlifter. Okay, he's
- 20:28Speaker 2: always been.
- 20:29Speaker 1: He's always done. He's always been in the weightlifting so
- 20:31Speaker 1: much so, I wish I can remember this conversation, but
- 20:35Speaker 1: it was back. It was when I was older and
- 20:38Speaker 1: I was my mom. We were going to Colorado, I
- 20:41Speaker 1: think for a wedding, for one of my boy's weddings,
- 20:43Speaker 1: and so we were trying to Yeah, I had been
- 20:46Speaker 1: whitewater rafting. I'm talking to my parents about cool it is,
- 20:48Speaker 1: and my mom wants to do it. We're trying to
- 20:50Speaker 1: get my dad to do it, and he's like he's
- 20:53Speaker 1: against it because he doesn't really know how to swim.
- 20:56Speaker 1: He doesn't so he's nervous to like fall off. He
- 20:58Speaker 1: doesn't want to. I'm like, yo, daddy, it is so fun,
- 21:00Speaker 1: Like it's not hard. You sit, you sit on the raft,
- 21:03Speaker 1: like you know, whether it's like level three, four twos, whatever,
- 21:06Speaker 1: it is, like, it's it's super fun. Yeah, and he was.
- 21:11Speaker 1: He got to the point to where he was very
- 21:13Speaker 1: defensive and super serious, and he's like, you want me
- 21:15Speaker 1: to risk taking away the greatest joy in my life,
- 21:17Speaker 1: which is weightlifting, because if I hurt myself fall out.
- 21:19Speaker 1: He's like, I'm not doing it because he's like he
- 21:21Speaker 1: can't leg press anymore. Like he's yeah, how old are
- 21:26Speaker 1: you at? This is this like I'm older. I'm in
- 21:28Speaker 1: my twenties. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm in my twenties. I'm like,
- 21:30Speaker 1: I think I'm playing in the NFL. This is like
- 21:32Speaker 1: my early years. Say, we're going to playing a wedding,
- 21:35Speaker 1: so we're going at the Colorado Great White Water Rafting
- 21:37Speaker 1: out in Colorado.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Yeah, he's late fifties, early sixties.
- 21:42Speaker 1: At this point. Yeah, so he would be one of
- 21:44Speaker 1: my thirty five so about ten years ago. Yeah, he'd
- 21:46Speaker 1: be around fifty years old and he's still hitting the
- 21:49Speaker 1: leg presses.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Oh yeah to this day, to this day, to every day,
- 21:55Speaker 2: he's a weightlifter.
- 21:56Speaker 1: Bro. Like he's a weightlifter, not like exercise and like
- 21:59Speaker 1: he go walks and gets his steps in now and
- 22:01Speaker 1: stuff like that. Yeah, but as far as like all
- 22:03Speaker 1: the mobility stuff, he would entertain it, but it's like
- 22:06Speaker 1: he's got to get his lifts in. And he said,
- 22:09Speaker 1: like the biggest, you know, the biggest love of my life.
- 22:12Speaker 1: You want me to risk taking that away to go
- 22:13Speaker 1: on a raft? And he was dead serious. We're laughing
- 22:18Speaker 1: now he might be watching a home laughing behind the
- 22:20Speaker 1: TV at this, but this was like this was a
- 22:23Speaker 1: serious moment. Yes, this wasn't like this was like all
- 22:26Speaker 1: right dad, like and he kind of just gotta walk
- 22:29Speaker 1: away from the situation. Yeah.
- 22:30Speaker 2: I got really quiet in the car for like the
- 22:32Speaker 2: next twenty.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Yeah, like he almost said it with his chest to
- 22:35Speaker 1: where he's like, yeah, my number one love in my
- 22:37Speaker 1: life and like looks at my mom.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Like you're you have a little shaky boy.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, to where you know, you know what I mean,
- 22:45Speaker 1: like you start to your butt, your heart rate goes up,
- 22:48Speaker 1: your eyes start to shake a little bit. Yeah, to
- 22:50Speaker 1: where he just has that look to where it's like,
- 22:52Speaker 1: all right, I guess we're just not gonna billy buddy. Yeah, yeah,
- 22:59Speaker 1: I hear you. Vacation him is sitting in the room,
- 23:03Speaker 1: which I you know, I have half of that in me.
- 23:05Speaker 1: I'm kind of like that at times. Soon My wife
- 23:06Speaker 1: has done a great job like being adventurous and getting
- 23:09Speaker 1: me out and like doing all these things to experience stuff.
- 23:13Speaker 1: But we never did vacations growing up. So him, like
- 23:16Speaker 1: us going on vacation, he wants just like quiet time,
- 23:18Speaker 1: thinking we're gonna sit by the river. We're trying to
- 23:20Speaker 1: put together these excursions to where it's like, hey, let's
- 23:22Speaker 1: go to the White Wall raft and he wants no
- 23:24Speaker 1: part of it.
- 23:25Speaker 2: I love. I am so down for excursions. I'm kind
- 23:28Speaker 2: of like, uh, paint the picture for me and.
- 23:31Speaker 1: I'll do it.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Like I truly, Yeah, if you want to sit in
- 23:34Speaker 2: the hotel room all day, I totally get it.
- 23:36Speaker 1: But yeah, my dad.
- 23:39Speaker 2: And Jill's stepdad, Hey love a hotel room, dude, And
- 23:45Speaker 2: there's nothing wrong with it. But that, now that I
- 23:48Speaker 2: think about it, is such a funny premise of just
- 23:51Speaker 2: spending the money to go on vacation and then you're
- 23:54Speaker 2: just hanging out in this room.
- 23:56Speaker 1: So he's whitewater rafts. Starts he went, but after a
- 24:01Speaker 1: few minutes said pull it over, I'm getting out. No, No,
- 24:06Speaker 1: I had.
- 24:06Speaker 2: The life checking on everything. We had drop him off.
- 24:08Speaker 2: He had the bus had to come pick him up,
- 24:11Speaker 2: saying they busty yes. So they get on the walkie
- 24:15Speaker 2: and they go, hey mile Marker Bula, Yeah, yeah, yeah, Oh,
- 24:18Speaker 2: Billy C's gonna be out.
- 24:19Speaker 1: There big time vibe killer. Was he just muthering under
- 24:24Speaker 1: his yeah, like you know, it starts like rattlings. You
- 24:27Speaker 1: see him start to hang on the raft and I'm
- 24:31Speaker 1: like this, I'm like, I'm laughing, a laughing.
- 24:36Speaker 2: And the guy in the back on like the high
- 24:38Speaker 2: chair and come.
- 24:39Speaker 1: On, dad, Bill, seat strokes. Bill, he's just two strokes
- 24:44Speaker 1: on the right, Bill. We need you back there.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Bill, where's my anchor? Oh my god, that's so funny.
- 24:57Speaker 1: In his mind, he's just thinking I'll never be able
- 24:58Speaker 1: to press or squad.
- 25:02Speaker 2: Just imagining himself in the gym. Dude, I love that.
- 25:06Speaker 2: I love that I did not know that about your dad.
- 25:09Speaker 2: I really don't. Yeah, it makes sense because he is
- 25:11Speaker 2: in really good shape, like.
- 25:13Speaker 1: For his age he is now he wasn't for the
- 25:15Speaker 1: longest time. He'd like, he's somebody has to just buy
- 25:17Speaker 1: in to a diet, Like he's got to do everything.
- 25:20Speaker 1: Everything to a tea, everything to a t Yeah, because
- 25:23Speaker 1: when he was body building, you're like measuring your vegetables,
- 25:25Speaker 1: You're measuring all this shit. So if he fell off
- 25:27Speaker 1: the rocker, just be like, you know, he's off the rocker.
- 25:30Speaker 1: There's no like just getting course correct and getting back on. Yeah.
- 25:33Speaker 1: So he'd go through these phases where he loses a
- 25:36Speaker 1: bunch of weight and then like say he's like lost
- 25:38Speaker 1: thirty pounds, but then I don't know, a couple of
- 25:40Speaker 1: cheap days later or something like that. He's kind of
- 25:42Speaker 1: back on whatever he's doing because he was drinking. I mean,
- 25:44Speaker 1: he's drink forever. Yeah, But ever since he got sober
- 25:47Speaker 1: over a year ago, it's he's been he's been dialed.
- 25:51Speaker 2: He has dropped it, dropped it because when I started
- 25:54Speaker 2: it was that dad combine. Yeah, and then go back
- 25:58Speaker 2: the next year and I'm like, oh my god, gosh,
- 26:00Speaker 2: Bill looks incredible.
- 26:01Speaker 1: Yeah, he's always been a weightlifting sick. Oh, so that
- 26:04Speaker 1: was It was always performer, Like when his boys are
- 26:06Speaker 1: at the house, it's like, will come out here and
- 26:09Speaker 1: I gotta pause the game. Take off your shirt, show
- 26:12Speaker 1: me your most muscular.
- 26:15Speaker 2: PT.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Six.
- 26:16Speaker 2: We interrupt this episode to bring you True Classic. When
- 26:19Speaker 2: I want to look good. We have brought it up
- 26:22Speaker 2: a ton on the show Chef. We say it almost
- 26:25Speaker 2: every single week. But the wife, he likes the way
- 26:28Speaker 2: I look in True Classic on date night. She wants
- 26:31Speaker 2: me wearing it. I don't get in front of mirror
- 26:34Speaker 2: a whole lot to check myself out. But when I
- 26:36Speaker 2: am about to go on said date night and I
- 26:39Speaker 2: have my True Classic fit on, I go that Stafford's
- 26:43Speaker 2: looking good. He's looking more like Matt Stafford circa Frat
- 26:47Speaker 2: Stafford at Georgia. I'm just saying, and I'm sorry to
- 26:51Speaker 2: brag about myself, but when I'm wearing True Classic, I'm
- 26:54Speaker 2: feeling confident, I'm feeling comfortable, and I'm feeling fashionable. And
- 26:59Speaker 2: guys in Fall, well, we're not just talking shirts for
- 27:01Speaker 2: True Classic.
- 27:02Speaker 1: They have great pants.

- 27:14Speaker 2: True Classic just launched a boys line for the boy
- 27:17Speaker 2: dad's out there you can match, and honestly, it's way
- 27:20Speaker 2: better than those awkward family photo outfits or cheesy pajamas.

- 28:14Speaker 2: you brought it back to that because when you first
- 28:17Speaker 2: told me that story, I just imagined like Friday Friday
- 28:21Speaker 2: night drinking buddies coming over here and Bill being like,
- 28:24Speaker 2: hold on, let me go get let me go get
- 28:26Speaker 2: the kid, Let me get the kid, And all his
- 28:29Speaker 2: buddies are sitting there with the beer, like, Bill, you
- 28:31Speaker 2: really don't have to you just let him play his game.
- 28:35Speaker 2: It's okay. But then I'm like, okay, no, they're sick. Ohs.
- 28:39Speaker 2: And they're probably sitting there too, going oh, yeah, he's
- 28:41Speaker 2: got it. Bill, got it, He's got it.
- 28:44Speaker 1: He show him your back, showing me back. Oh yeah, Bill,
- 28:48Speaker 1: he's a chip off the block. He's a chip off
- 28:51Speaker 1: We're talking. This is potential, mister universe writer. He's got
- 28:56Speaker 1: the legs too, like he's got his mom legs. He
- 28:57Speaker 1: doesn't have my skinny, Like, show him your legs. I'm
- 28:59Speaker 1: sit out there flex in my quad. It's kind of rotating, dude.
- 29:06Speaker 1: Oh my god.
- 29:06Speaker 2: Time machines need to exist, just to be a fly
- 29:09Speaker 2: on the wall for the conversation of when you left
- 29:12Speaker 2: the room. Yeah, I'm telling you boys, he likes the
- 29:15Speaker 2: gym too. I don't even have to tell him to
- 29:17Speaker 2: get in there. He gets in there himself.

- 30:18Speaker 2: Instagram says wife being induced three weeks early because of
- 30:22Speaker 2: high blood pressure. Also been there, Michael bad but good
- 30:26Speaker 2: had an absolute battle with the car seat base good.
- 30:31Speaker 2: Whole house was a mess because we thought she would
- 30:34Speaker 2: go the full forty weeks good but pt six shirt
- 30:39Speaker 2: packed in my hospital bag.
- 30:41Speaker 1: Great.

- 30:48Speaker 1: Baby boy into our life by boy, baby boy. Well, Michael,
- 30:53Speaker 1: that's so funny because you know he wrote that first line,
- 30:55Speaker 1: that first sentence like this is all blood pressure high good,
- 30:58Speaker 1: and then probably as he wrote it, he's looking like
- 31:00Speaker 1: that's a good thing.
- 31:00Speaker 2: Let me go ahead, but bad but good? Yeah, oh, Michael,
- 31:05Speaker 2: and been there. Jill literally had to do the exact
- 31:08Speaker 2: same thing. So I know how you feel and best
- 31:13Speaker 2: of luck.
- 31:13Speaker 1: To you guys. Yeah. Absolutely, I got a couple more
- 31:15Speaker 1: coming in from the hospital. I got a I burn

- 33:16Speaker 2: the poster for that. This is for my buddies. This
- 33:18Speaker 2: is for my buddies. Honey, what are your what are
- 33:21Speaker 2: y'all doing this? Don't worry about it, sweetie. It's for
- 33:24Speaker 2: the boys at that age.
- 33:25Speaker 1: So it's like, you know, I'm thinking of like second grade,
- 33:27Speaker 1: third grade. I'm sitting there. It's like I was a
- 33:30Speaker 1: wrestler too, So I had the buzz head. I had
- 33:32Speaker 1: it all.
- 33:32Speaker 2: Just in what video game where you playing that you're
- 33:36Speaker 2: hitting the back then?
- 33:36Speaker 1: I mean I played them all, bro, I played all
- 33:39Speaker 1: the video games. I was a big WWF guy, WWE
- 33:44Speaker 1: w c W. So the wrestling games, all the football
- 33:48Speaker 1: games like Game Day was a staple on PlayStation for
- 33:51Speaker 1: me growing up. My parents got me the the Second
- 33:55Speaker 1: Genesis and I had like Mad ninety five. Maybe it
- 33:58Speaker 1: was just called Mad, and I can remember when tapping
- 34:01Speaker 1: the two buttons doing the forty yep. Then it was
- 34:03Speaker 1: Second Genesis to where your PlayStation had Jurassic Park. I
- 34:07Speaker 1: was fired up about that one. I played all the
- 34:10Speaker 1: video games, Broe. I loved video games.
- 34:12Speaker 2: They just like an image of young Willie C with
- 34:15Speaker 2: some flaming hot Cheetahs in front of the TV playing
- 34:19Speaker 2: w w F and Dad telling him to pause the game.
- 34:23Speaker 1: God he will, Yeah, do you come out of here? Second?
- 34:28Speaker 1: Why he just come out of here a second? Set
- 34:32Speaker 1: the controller down wired to the console. Yeah, hey, come here.
- 34:38Speaker 1: I wanna, I wanna, I wanna come here. I want
- 34:41Speaker 1: to I want to show you something because this is inside.
- 34:43Speaker 1: We're inside. He's got to take me out to the
- 34:44Speaker 1: ground where the boys are. He's like, oh, Dwayne, he's here.
- 34:48Speaker 1: I was telling him he wanted to see your physique,
- 34:56Speaker 1: Dayne's you want to see take your shirt off?
- 35:00Speaker 2: Is this the same garage that's also the weight room?
- 35:02Speaker 1: Yeah? Oh my god, God, dude, they'd have some classic
- 35:05Speaker 1: rock you know what I mean, some rock and roll playing.
- 35:08Speaker 2: Oh, we got to get an AI clip of that story, dude.
- 35:12Speaker 1: Like case ninety five, Bro, it was like ninety four
- 35:14Speaker 1: point seven was the rock and roll station.
- 35:18Speaker 5: Dude, dune d damn, what do I gotta just just
- 35:23Speaker 5: come on it only take a minute.
- 35:30Speaker 1: Oh my god.
- 35:31Speaker 2: A great Halloween costume too for some of the kid
- 35:33Speaker 2: I was out there b willye c in most muscular dude.
- 35:36Speaker 1: I I my mom hoped this was back. You know,
- 35:39Speaker 1: my mom was doing homemade costumes for us. But I
- 35:41Speaker 1: was the Ultimate Warrior one year, face painted ultimately woh
- 35:45Speaker 1: made me a little like paper belt that I had? Yes?
- 35:48Speaker 2: And who was the Ultimate Warrior? It was like a
- 35:50Speaker 2: well known wrestler that was dressing up as Ultimate Warrior
- 35:54Speaker 2: or is the Ultimate Warrior? Was his thing?
- 35:57Speaker 1: The Ultimate Warrior. What you see was hanging from the Bible. Yeah. Yeah,
- 36:02Speaker 1: they're like speedo trunks whatever you call like boots on.
- 36:08Speaker 2: Yes, champion, long hair, face painted different colors. He was
- 36:13Speaker 2: the Ultimate Warrior, the Ultimate war Okay, I was thinking,
- 36:16Speaker 2: was it the Hulkster that was like somebody else he had?
- 36:21Speaker 2: He had like an.
- 36:21Speaker 6: Altar had multiple He had cactus Jack and a bunch
- 36:25Speaker 6: of stuff there, So is that what you're thinking about?
- 36:27Speaker 1: Maybe maybe he.
- 36:28Speaker 6: Had mankind and cactus Jack and steamboat something or another
- 36:32Speaker 6: love boat something.
- 36:33Speaker 2: Okay, I don't know why. Not a big wrestling fan
- 36:38Speaker 2: growing No, not a big one growing up, but enough
- 36:40Speaker 2: to where like I was playing the WWE WWF games
- 36:44Speaker 2: like at friends houses and like play wrestling and stuff
- 36:48Speaker 2: with couch cushions.
- 36:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm sure.
- 36:52Speaker 2: I mean my mom didn't let me read Harry Potter
- 36:54Speaker 2: because it was you know, her Bible study was like
- 36:57Speaker 2: it's Waitchcraft, don't let him. Yeah, so I'm sure if
- 37:00Speaker 2: w W had been on the TV, she would have
- 37:02Speaker 2: been like Sherman, which is my dad's name. Way, what
- 37:05Speaker 2: are y'all watching?
- 37:06Speaker 1: What are you doing?
- 37:08Speaker 2: Honey? The kids love it?
- 37:12Speaker 1: Okay.
- 37:13Speaker 2: This one comes from Instagram. This is Nick spawn Seller.
- 37:17Speaker 2: He says, Hey, guys, I've been listening ever since I
- 37:20Speaker 2: found out I'm going to be a dad to a
- 37:21Speaker 2: little girl in March six.
- 37:24Speaker 1: Let's go it.
- 37:25Speaker 2: Curious on how you guys dealt with the name situation.
- 37:28Speaker 2: My fiance and I are at a spot where we
- 37:30Speaker 2: have narrowed down the top two names. The problem is
- 37:34Speaker 2: she wants one and I want the other. I want
- 37:37Speaker 2: to give in because after we are married, we want
- 37:40Speaker 2: another or I want you give in because after we
- 37:43Speaker 2: are married we want another kid. And if it's a boy,
- 37:46Speaker 2: we already have that name picked out because of me thoughts.
- 37:50Speaker 2: I know we both need to agree, but curious on
- 37:53Speaker 2: any advice to get there, do you?
- 37:57Speaker 1: Yeah, this is one look if you want to have
- 38:00Speaker 1: a second kid, and let's just say the boy's name's
- 38:02Speaker 1: already dialed in, your name in it after after yourself
- 38:05Speaker 1: or whatever the boy name he has picked out, that's
- 38:07Speaker 1: gonna be what he chose. This is where it's like, hey,
- 38:10Speaker 1: you gotta this is where you've been the knee. Yeah.
- 38:13Speaker 1: Like if my wife and I, like, you know, we're
- 38:16Speaker 1: going back and forth on a couple of boy names
- 38:18Speaker 1: because I've always been a fan of wanting the fourth
- 38:22Speaker 1: and so I know, no matter what, even though she
- 38:24Speaker 1: doesn't necessarily want that, Like I'm you know, I think
- 38:27Speaker 1: about both of the names that we kind of have done,
- 38:29Speaker 1: and she's always trying to get me off the step
- 38:31Speaker 1: of William Earle the fourth. Yeah, and so I know,
- 38:34Speaker 1: no matter what, like what I've done is number one.
- 38:37Speaker 1: I loved Serulium whenever she came up with cerulium. When
- 38:40Speaker 1: it was Scotti, Jolie and Billy May were the two options.
- 38:45Speaker 1: Ultimately we named her Scottie, but when it was Billy May.
- 38:48Speaker 1: But down to those two, I wanted Billy May because
- 38:50Speaker 1: I didn't know if we're gonna go for a third.
- 38:52Speaker 1: I don't know if we're gonna try again like this
- 38:54Speaker 1: would in a way pay homage was Billy with my name,
- 38:57Speaker 1: and then May is Charles middle name, So Billy May
- 39:00Speaker 1: is how we came up Billy Dang that Okay, I
- 39:02Speaker 1: want unfortunate. You know a friend that her one of
- 39:06Speaker 1: her best friends that lives in Chicago. Her sister had
- 39:08Speaker 1: a baby and named that baby Billy May. So with
- 39:11Speaker 1: the women, that's off limits, that's off limits. So I
- 39:14Speaker 1: had to ultimately bend the knee on Billy May and
- 39:17Speaker 1: go to Scottie Joe Lee. So in my mind, I'm
- 39:19Speaker 1: thinking it doesn't even matter whatever the next one is,
- 39:22Speaker 1: if we so happen to get a boy, like I
- 39:24Speaker 1: am naming this child no matter what. Yeah, like you
- 39:28Speaker 1: have all the leverage, like, okay, I'll do this for
- 39:30Speaker 1: you but I got you on the next one. I
- 39:33Speaker 1: feel the exact same way.
- 39:34Speaker 2: But my only thing was that I really wanted to
- 39:37Speaker 2: name Scarlett. I wanted to name her Sterling. That was
- 39:41Speaker 2: my great grandfather's name. And Jill was like, love Sterling,
- 39:45Speaker 2: but don't love it as a first name. We'll do
- 39:47Speaker 2: middle names. So we found like a common ground there,
- 39:49Speaker 2: and so Scarlett's name is Scarlett Sterling young ss y
- 39:53Speaker 2: like Sherman Stewart young y nice.
- 39:56Speaker 1: I like that. Yeah, that's it.
- 39:58Speaker 2: That's how we you'll fine common ground.
- 40:01Speaker 1: Yeah, because we're not in the war room. Yeah, you
- 40:04Speaker 1: know what I mean, we're not in the conversation like
- 40:06Speaker 1: you're down to two names. Do you love your name
- 40:10Speaker 1: and like the other name? Or do you love your
- 40:12Speaker 1: name and hate the other name? Yeah? And it's the
- 40:14Speaker 1: same with the wife. Does she love her name and
- 40:15Speaker 1: hate your name or does she hate it?
- 40:17Speaker 2: Like and it's like I like where his head's at
- 40:20Speaker 2: because he's like, hey, we want to have another kid. Great,
- 40:22Speaker 2: if you're having another kid, let her get this win.
- 40:27Speaker 2: Let her have this win, and be very like, yeah,
- 40:31Speaker 2: let's go with that name because.
- 40:33Speaker 1: You're gonna love the name. Like once they're out in
- 40:36Speaker 1: the world and like, yeah, you are gonna care.
- 40:38Speaker 2: Yeah, not that I was ever like, oh I don't
- 40:40Speaker 2: like Scarlet because I did like that name. Yeah, but yeah,
- 40:44Speaker 2: you're not gonna care because then you're you're looking at
- 40:47Speaker 2: your kid and you're like, that is Scarlet or that
- 40:49Speaker 2: is ye Scotti, Jojo, Scotty Jojo, scott Zilla, which is
- 40:52Speaker 2: such a good she has some really good nicknames.
- 40:55Speaker 1: Scotty Joe. Yes, love Scotty Jojo bro. But on this top,
- 41:00Speaker 1: if I could simplify it as much as I possibly could,
- 41:03Speaker 1: I think the lean is more the wife if it's
- 41:05Speaker 1: a daughter, yeah, Leen is more the husband if it's
- 41:07Speaker 1: a boy, yeah. And I think that is just how
- 41:10Speaker 1: you simplify it. Agreed. And I don't know if they're
- 41:13Speaker 1: telling people about names, like my wife didn't really want
- 41:15Speaker 1: us to talk names with anybody, blah blah blah. But
- 41:17Speaker 1: you know, when we're down to Billy May and Scotty Joe,
- 41:19Speaker 1: Scotti was the second one. Scotty being the second one,
- 41:22Speaker 1: I felt a little more open verbally for whoever came
- 41:25Speaker 1: around that we trust. And I know Charle wouldn't care
- 41:27Speaker 1: if they knew the name of Hey, what do you
- 41:29Speaker 1: think out of these two, if they said Scotty about okay,
- 41:33Speaker 1: then we can we can lean Scotty. Well, cause I'm
- 41:35Speaker 1: thinking in my head like I think Billy may rips,
- 41:37Speaker 1: like she just she might need to hear other people
- 41:39Speaker 1: say she just doesn't get it. So you bring others in.
- 41:42Speaker 1: You kind of give them a couple options. If they
- 41:43Speaker 1: choose the one that you're you know, if they choose
- 41:45Speaker 1: the wife's side, or they're like, hey, I kind of
- 41:47Speaker 1: like this name more. You kind of go open ended. Hey,
- 41:49Speaker 1: you're not gonna know who we're leaning here. What do
- 41:51Speaker 1: you think about these two names? And the minute you
- 41:53Speaker 1: kind of hear a couple of other opinions and they
- 41:55Speaker 1: might stack up the tallies, it's like, all right, we
- 41:58Speaker 1: can go that one.
- 41:58Speaker 2: Yeah, And setting parts.
- 42:00Speaker 1: I do this when I'm trying to figure.
- 42:02Speaker 2: Out what we want for dinner as well as I
- 42:04Speaker 2: find out what Jill doesn't want for dinner first, and
- 42:07Speaker 2: so we set those parameters with name. We're like, what
- 42:10Speaker 2: are things we don't want? Well, we don't want a
- 42:12Speaker 2: girl name that ends with E.
- 42:14Speaker 1: Okay, okay, I listen, mind Scotty. So what there's there's
- 42:18Speaker 1: you guys talking about me and my wife when you
- 42:20Speaker 1: guys are in your room, I know, I know, I
- 42:22Speaker 1: go to stupid name.
- 42:23Speaker 2: Well that was Jill that said that.
- 42:25Speaker 1: That wasn't me.
- 42:30Speaker 2: I love you know, you know, I love the noise,
- 42:34Speaker 2: but that was just like a personal preference of hers.
- 42:36Speaker 2: And she was like, I don't I don't want E
- 42:39Speaker 2: at the end of it, and I want something that's
- 42:41Speaker 2: kind of like old school.
- 42:43Speaker 1: Yeah. I was like, okay, parameters set right my wife.
- 42:46Speaker 1: My wife wanted like a boy name for Scotty, like
- 42:50Speaker 1: we were kind of narrowing down boy names that can
- 42:52Speaker 1: kind of swing the other way. So, yeah, you're right,
- 42:55Speaker 1: setting up good parameters. And that's exactly what I wanted.
- 42:59Speaker 2: Also because my grandfather's name is Charlie, and I really
- 43:02Speaker 2: wanted to name Arlet Charlie Charlie for a minute. Yeah,
- 43:07Speaker 2: And Jill was like, I not not our first one,
- 43:11Speaker 2: but I'm not opposed to it. She was like, I
- 43:14Speaker 2: want to go and so yeah, I feel like I'm
- 43:17Speaker 2: in a good place name wise, that this next child.
- 43:21Speaker 2: Uh I say this next child, Jill and I do
- 43:24Speaker 2: want to have another kid, but with this perspective next kid,
- 43:28Speaker 2: I feel like I'm in a good place where I can.
- 43:31Speaker 1: Yeah, my ideas and thoughts are a bit more. Yeah,
- 43:35Speaker 1: I would say this unless it's a boy and you
- 43:39Speaker 1: want like an heir to the throne in your masculine way.
- 43:43Speaker 1: If if it's a girl, outside of that perspective, it's
- 43:47Speaker 1: your taking a back seat to what wife he wants.
- 43:49Speaker 2: Of course, and I am a junior, so like that
- 43:53Speaker 2: is on the table the third. But then Jill's maiden
- 43:56Speaker 2: name is Rambo, so I do like her maiden name
- 43:59Speaker 2: is ram.
- 44:00Speaker 1: Name is Rambo. Man I if we have a boy, I'm.
- 44:05Speaker 2: Between Sherman Stuart Young the third or Rambo Young and
- 44:10Speaker 2: he would go buy bow. Rambo goes hard, Rambo goes
- 44:15Speaker 2: hard better.
- 44:15Speaker 1: Hope I don't get a boy before you, I know,
- 44:18Speaker 1: I would name him Rambo.
- 44:22Speaker 2: Then there would be two there would be two bows,
- 44:24Speaker 2: there'd be Bo Compton and boy. I would stick with it.
- 44:28Speaker 1: Why Rambo is it? Because you've heard of me like
- 44:30Speaker 1: bo Bo Polini And you haven't seen the movie Rambosten alone.
- 44:36Speaker 1: You know I love it?
- 44:37Speaker 2: Oh, you invented Rambo copywriting? No, but I truly and sorry, shep,
- 44:44Speaker 2: I totally cut you off.
- 44:45Speaker 4: Well, No, I was just gonna ask, like the question
- 44:47Speaker 4: of as a non father. I've only thought of like
- 44:52Speaker 4: having a son. I've only thought of guy names. Yeah, yeah,
- 44:55Speaker 4: I'm never like, I don't even know what I would
- 44:56Speaker 4: do with a daughter or what I would just give
- 44:59Speaker 4: it up because I got a guy named that would rip.
- 45:02Speaker 4: And I'm like kind of like it's a liver Die Hill, Like,
- 45:04Speaker 4: I think.
- 45:04Speaker 1: Do you mind sharing with us? By the way, shout
- 45:07Speaker 1: out chef Chef has shaved his head. We know Derek's
- 45:09Speaker 1: coming in October. Sure, Hm has still yet to do it,
- 45:11Speaker 1: but he is rocking. I think it may even be
- 45:13Speaker 1: a later today thing. Oh that's awesome. We did get
- 45:17Speaker 1: I think his name was Nathan. Yeah. I saw him
- 45:20Speaker 1: tweet saying Pete six the inspiration, saw those, saw the
- 45:23Speaker 1: shaved head when yeah the trenches hit love it hit
- 45:26Speaker 1: the most scular.
- 45:27Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah yeah, had a couple of those this week.
- 45:31Speaker 1: But do you mind sharing with us? Yeah?
- 45:32Speaker 4: I'm a long ways out, so I think hopefully, oh yeah,
- 45:36Speaker 4: I'll share and then I'll make a decision after. But
- 45:38Speaker 4: my great on my dad's side was my great great
- 45:43Speaker 4: grandfather's Frederick law Olmstead. He designed Central Frederick Law Olmstead,
- 45:48Speaker 4: Frederick he he did. He was a famous landscape architect.
- 45:53Speaker 4: He designed Central Park, the outside of the Capitol Building,
- 45:56Speaker 4: the built Moore. He was like one of them is
- 45:58Speaker 4: the godfather of landscape.
- 46:00Speaker 2: Architect anyway, what is he to you?
- 46:02Speaker 4: Like a great great great grandfather uncle situation. This is
- 46:05Speaker 4: on my dad's side. That's but I love I love
- 46:08Speaker 4: the last name. So I think the middle name, and
- 46:10Speaker 4: I like a regal sounding kind of name for a guy.
- 46:13Speaker 4: So I'm thinking Charles Olmstead Hanning, Charles Olmsteed, Olmstead Olmsted. Yeah,
- 46:20Speaker 4: it goes hard.
- 46:21Speaker 2: That goes so hard.
- 46:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:23Speaker 4: So that one is like, that's a die by name
- 46:25Speaker 4: that I'm like, I will dive on that one. But
- 46:27Speaker 4: if it's a girl, I'm like, shit, I don't know.
- 46:31Speaker 4: That's like where I can't even.
- 46:32Speaker 1: The girl that again, it's like you have in your
- 46:35Speaker 1: mind the heir to the throne, something that you love.
- 46:38Speaker 4: I'm convinced. I just keep telling myself I'll have a boy. Yeah,
- 46:41Speaker 4: I'm just not gonna have a daughter.
- 46:43Speaker 1: I was that way too, buddy, and I'm two daughters later. Man,
- 46:47Speaker 1: So anytime once it was once it was a girl,
- 46:49Speaker 1: it's it's truly. I'm like yeah, you go ahead. As
- 46:52Speaker 1: long as I rock with the name, you can. You
- 46:53Speaker 1: can choose the name.
- 46:54Speaker 2: And the girl names are fun, yeah, like there's something
- 46:57Speaker 2: weird about Like I liked almost every single girl named
- 47:01Speaker 2: that Jill was throwing out. But then I would like
- 47:03Speaker 2: throw out a girl name and she'd be like, oh no, I.
- 47:04Speaker 1: Knew a yes, bro. That's where the women are tied
- 47:08Speaker 1: to that stuff. So it's like, Okay, I knew a
- 47:09Speaker 1: Whitney and she sucked. And I'm just making like, but
- 47:12Speaker 1: that that is common. That's common.
- 47:14Speaker 2: Yes, And there were some names that I think are
- 47:17Speaker 2: so good, and Jill was like, oh my god, I
- 47:19Speaker 2: went to camp with a you know, blah blah blah
- 47:22Speaker 2: and she.
- 47:22Speaker 1: Was the worst.
- 47:23Speaker 2: And I'm like, that's such a beautiful name.
- 47:26Speaker 4: Yeah, but there's some guys that I think of and
- 47:28Speaker 4: I'm like, I can I know, I know a guy
- 47:30Speaker 4: like that.
- 47:30Speaker 2: I can never name my son. It's so true.
- 47:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, we could throw we could throw that swallow
- 47:36Speaker 1: own pill there. There. There are probably some names that
- 47:39Speaker 1: you're just like, we ain't doing that. I know what Tony.
- 47:45Speaker 1: I actually don't know what Tony that I hate.
- 47:46Speaker 2: But to say I'm cool with any thought I got
- 47:52Speaker 2: a comment from Chance Roy on well. Actually, first off,
- 47:56Speaker 2: well I started reading it, so I will say this.
- 47:59Speaker 2: Chance Roy I wrote to us from Louisiana, shout out
- 48:01Speaker 2: to three three seven.
- 48:03Speaker 1: He said that he loved here in my laugh.
- 48:05Speaker 2: He listened to us on Spotify and he was like,
- 48:08Speaker 2: I gotta see what fat Stafford looks like.
- 48:11Speaker 1: Started watching us on YouTube and he said.
- 48:13Speaker 2: Like even more on YouTube. So I love that comment
- 48:16Speaker 2: that He was like, hey, I was just listening to
- 48:18Speaker 2: the guys. Now I'm looking at him and the listening
- 48:20Speaker 2: experience is even better.
- 48:21Speaker 1: You have a top five laugh my friend. Thank you.
- 48:24Speaker 2: I will take it. I will take it. I do
- 48:27Speaker 2: have another comment. I just wanted to make sure that
- 48:30Speaker 2: we read this one because I thought it was so
- 48:33Speaker 2: cool how the community came around this guy. Okay, hold
- 48:37Speaker 2: that one holding because I have a fun one.
- 48:39Speaker 1: Fun. I listened to all my podcasts at work. This
- 48:42Speaker 1: is from Papa John at johnny D seventy six on X.
- 48:46Speaker 1: I'll listen to all my podcasts at work surrounded by men,
- 48:49Speaker 1: mostly assholes. I'm a big dude, but have strong emotions.
- 48:53Speaker 1: Every time, sure or will cry. I gotta make sure
- 48:55Speaker 1: my face can't be seen. I cry with you guys
- 48:57Speaker 1: every time. This is the best show. Shut Upapa John.
- 49:00Speaker 2: Oh, Papa John, friend of Tony, friend of the show, Tony,
- 49:04Speaker 2: Papa John.
- 49:06Speaker 1: Thank you, Papa John.
- 49:08Speaker 2: It's good to know that we're not alone.
- 49:10Speaker 1: Yeah the tears. With that said, we have some sad alerts.
- 49:13Speaker 2: Yeah, speaking of okay, this one came from j Tar
- 49:18Speaker 2: six seven to one. This was our top comment on
- 49:21Speaker 2: the last episode. This has been the hardest year of
- 49:23Speaker 2: my life. My wife had a miscarriage in early January
- 49:27Speaker 2: and I lost my job.
- 49:28Speaker 1: Two weeks later. My wife is a stay at home wife.
- 49:32Speaker 2: Then two months later, I lost thirty pounds, almost went
- 49:35Speaker 2: into a diabetic coma, and was diagnosed with type one diabetes.
- 49:39Speaker 2: Two days in the hospital to get healthy, and I
- 49:42Speaker 2: came out still trying to find a stable job. After
- 49:45Speaker 2: scraping by for months, I got a job in August
- 49:49Speaker 2: and finally getting stable again. Every day feels like it
- 49:52Speaker 2: takes extra effort. Every meal and every workout felt like
- 49:55Speaker 2: a chour until this podcast.
- 49:58Speaker 1: That is awesome.
- 49:59Speaker 2: Good, I'm tired, I don't want to go to the gym. Good,
- 50:03Speaker 2: I'm annoyed at my dietary restrictions.
- 50:06Speaker 1: Good.
- 50:07Speaker 2: My wife is twenty one weeks pregnant with a baby girl,
- 50:11Speaker 2: and I couldn't be more excited. This podcast helped me
- 50:13Speaker 2: shift my mindset to welcome the struggles. I know that
- 50:17Speaker 2: mindset will make me a better father. Thank you. He's
- 50:21Speaker 2: got a great profile picture too, by the way, he's out.
- 50:24Speaker 1: Hiking with his wifey j Tar sixe.
- 50:27Speaker 2: Jtar six seven to one. So first off, Jtar six
- 50:31Speaker 2: seven to one. Love that comment, dude, because there is
- 50:36Speaker 2: a lot of shit that hits us in life. Life
- 50:38Speaker 2: is not easy, and we usually revert back to that
- 50:42Speaker 2: speaking of Rambo, that Sylvester Saloon rocky quote of you know,
- 50:47Speaker 2: it's about how hard you can get hit and keep
- 50:49Speaker 2: moving forward, and there is so much beauty to life
- 50:56Speaker 2: because of how hard life is. And I've read that
- 51:00Speaker 2: comment a couple times on YouTube, and it just hit
- 51:05Speaker 2: me that he is his wife is twenty one weeks
- 51:08Speaker 2: pregnant now, like that kind of just hit me for
- 51:11Speaker 2: the first time. And God, that baby's going to be
- 51:14Speaker 2: so loved because of the misfortune that came before it.
- 51:18Speaker 2: And so shout out j Tar, dude, Yeah, they're gonna
- 51:22Speaker 2: be kick ass parents.
- 51:25Speaker 1: This comment.
- 51:26Speaker 2: I'm so Glad Derek printed these off. The reason we
- 51:29Speaker 2: read that comment to you is because all these and
- 51:31Speaker 2: I'll fly through these, but we had so many people
- 51:34Speaker 2: underneath it. Chris break Hey, keep your head up, brother,
- 51:38Speaker 2: goat since yo said pressure makes diamonds with the flex
- 51:41Speaker 2: emoji pessimistic, you're a tough dad. Keep it up, Jay Cheris,
- 51:48Speaker 2: Let's go love to see the turnaround. See Jones GBR
- 51:52Speaker 2: Keep it up, brother, Prayers to you and your family
- 51:54Speaker 2: and so excited for the next chapter to come. That's
- 51:58Speaker 2: just that's ridiculu that that's going on in our comments section.
- 52:02Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it's a dude. A message like that fires
- 52:07Speaker 1: me the fuck up. And again I know he's been
- 52:09Speaker 1: coming from a lot of hard times like the miscarriage.
- 52:11Speaker 1: I did love the comment where it's like from chippayer brother,
- 52:14Speaker 1: I two lost a child this year. Now my son
- 52:16Speaker 1: is two weeks old. I will tell you.
- 52:18Speaker 2: Can feel that guardian angel over over your baby and
- 52:21Speaker 2: your first will always be with your family.
- 52:23Speaker 1: Congratulations. But it's stuff like that, It's like, you know,
- 52:26Speaker 1: this is a prime example for everybody that ends up
- 52:29Speaker 1: picking themselves up when they're in a very dark time
- 52:32Speaker 1: because the God's honest truth is when people start turning
- 52:35Speaker 1: shit around. It's when you're sick and tired of being
- 52:36Speaker 1: sick and tired. It's not because like he's not he
- 52:39Speaker 1: came across our podcast and got say motivated right or
- 52:43Speaker 1: say it was a breath of fresh air to see
- 52:45Speaker 1: like a different perspective and kind of pick himself up.
- 52:48Speaker 1: But at the end of the day, bro, And it's
- 52:50Speaker 1: a quote that I is always at the top of
- 52:53Speaker 1: my head, but it's nobody's coming to save you. Like
- 52:55Speaker 1: it doesn't matter what your wife is telling you or
- 52:57Speaker 1: people around you. You know, you can get all the
- 53:00Speaker 1: influences in the world. It's like motivation, motivation will fail
- 53:03Speaker 1: you the majority of the time. It's discipline that keeps
- 53:06Speaker 1: you going, that keeps people going. So him coming across
- 53:09Speaker 1: our poets, it's a reason we made before the Dad's brand.
- 53:13Speaker 1: Like you know when people are asking, like what made
- 53:16Speaker 1: you think of this idea? And it's like, I love
- 53:17Speaker 1: creating in spaces to where I'm a consumer in because
- 53:20Speaker 1: a lot of the times it's not like you're sitting there.
- 53:22Speaker 1: You'll take advice from your boys or people you look
- 53:24Speaker 1: up to and everything else, but a lot of times
- 53:26Speaker 1: it's me in my truck when I'm feeling like, you know,
- 53:29Speaker 1: how am I gonna find a way out of whatever
- 53:31Speaker 1: I'm feeling that's kind of got me in a funk,
- 53:33Speaker 1: or that's got me in or when shit is hard
- 53:35Speaker 1: when I'm playing football, when shit is hard as a father,
- 53:38Speaker 1: when shit is just hard with life. It's usually I'm
- 53:40Speaker 1: grasping at things that I can listen to by myself
- 53:43Speaker 1: or read by myself to where somebody or somebody said
- 53:47Speaker 1: something to where it's like it just gives you perspective
- 53:50Speaker 1: on doing something. Then at that point, when you're sick
- 53:53Speaker 1: and tired of being sick and tired and knowing that
- 53:54Speaker 1: it's nobody putting their arm around you or nobody saying here,
- 53:57Speaker 1: I'm gonna hold your hand while you do this, You're
- 53:58Speaker 1: gonna have these people comments, but these replies and comments
- 54:01Speaker 1: aren't gonna be with you every day. No, it's not
- 54:03Speaker 1: those things that get you going. It's you that decide that, like,
- 54:06Speaker 1: nobody's gonna fucking do this for me except for me.
- 54:10Speaker 1: And that's why that shit fires me up, because he
- 54:12Speaker 1: came across this podcast and just for whatever reason, was
- 54:16Speaker 1: just in the right frame of mind, where he's feeling down,
- 54:18Speaker 1: whatever it is, and just like, listen to whatever part
- 54:21Speaker 1: of the episode he heard, and it was just like,
- 54:24Speaker 1: I love this perspective or I love this vibe, or
- 54:27Speaker 1: I love whatever it is. And in his mind, not
- 54:30Speaker 1: because of us, but in his mind, he's like, this
- 54:32Speaker 1: is the moment I'm turning it around. And it's him
- 54:35Speaker 1: because again this us are episodes. Whatever it is, that
- 54:39Speaker 1: motivational fade, it's all gonna be that way. These the replies,
- 54:43Speaker 1: the encouragement that's gonna fade, And truly, it's fucking you.
- 54:47Speaker 1: It's a one player game in this world. Yes, it
- 54:49Speaker 1: always is. It's not it's not for you to be
- 54:52Speaker 1: the best husband you can be. It's like you have
- 54:53Speaker 1: the greatest support of a wife that you can have.
- 54:55Speaker 1: Sometimes it's not always going to be that way. It's
- 54:57Speaker 1: you looking in the mirror and it's like, how am
- 54:59Speaker 1: I gonna correct my shit? And that's the rip effects
- 55:03Speaker 1: it starts creating. And then it's the discipline. It's you
- 55:05Speaker 1: don't feel like it every day. You don't feel like
- 55:07Speaker 1: working out, I don't feel like going home after a
- 55:09Speaker 1: long day of sitting around assholes at work, and you're
- 55:13Speaker 1: expecting everybody else to navigate or walk on eggshells around you.
- 55:16Speaker 1: It's like, know what energy are you going to intentionally
- 55:19Speaker 1: and consciously bring at all times? Dobson always told us
- 55:22Speaker 1: he's our strength coach at Nebraska, and it always stuck
- 55:24Speaker 1: with me. But a big theme was always it doesn't
- 55:27Speaker 1: matter what the fuck is going on, you control your
- 55:30Speaker 1: attitude and you control your effort at all times, twenty
- 55:33Speaker 1: four to seven, hard stop period at all times. How
- 55:36Speaker 1: are you gonna show up when you come in the
- 55:37Speaker 1: weight room with classes going on with you just got
- 55:40Speaker 1: your fucking hashooks and you got embarrassed out there. No
- 55:42Speaker 1: matter what it is, Bro, it's you always control your
- 55:44Speaker 1: attitude and effort and for him to kind of shift
- 55:46Speaker 1: his attitude and effort, That's what fires me up about
- 55:49Speaker 1: this comment.
- 55:50Speaker 2: And what also fires me up about the comment is
- 55:53Speaker 2: that this show. I know we save this a lot,
- 55:55Speaker 2: but to this comment, this show we do not have
- 55:59Speaker 2: some pill which trying to sell you. We don't have
- 56:01Speaker 2: some book that has all the like. We are two
- 56:05Speaker 2: guys that are exactly like Jtar that we wake up
- 56:10Speaker 2: every morning thinking, man, how do how do I figure
- 56:13Speaker 2: this out? How do I do better? At that, how
- 56:15Speaker 2: do I and seeing comments like that and you saying
- 56:19Speaker 2: I want to get into a space of that. I'm
- 56:21Speaker 2: a consumer in I feel the same way when I
- 56:24Speaker 2: read comments like that, or I feel the same way
- 56:26Speaker 2: when I get on the show with you and I
- 56:27Speaker 2: hear you talk like it's it's cool that we are
- 56:32Speaker 2: all bouncing our stories off of each other and that
- 56:36Speaker 2: this is kind of becoming a little ecosystem of Dad's
- 56:40Speaker 2: just trying to rip and if they aren't killing it,
- 56:44Speaker 2: that maybe their voice in that maybe they did kill
- 56:46Speaker 2: it and they're voicing that, but just being in the
- 56:51Speaker 2: mindset of wanting to do better to your.
- 56:53Speaker 1: Yeah, just community, like a human need is community. Yeah,
- 56:56Speaker 1: when you feel like you're coming across one, it's like
- 56:58Speaker 1: we're all fucking struggling and you can listen to what
- 57:01Speaker 1: you said, like we're all we're all j tar and
- 57:03Speaker 1: it's like at moments in life, absolutely it's like, okay,
- 57:06Speaker 1: well did you have a missing dude. The point is
- 57:09Speaker 1: stress is not factual. Stress is the meaning you give
- 57:12Speaker 1: the facts, and that is it's it's all about how
- 57:15Speaker 1: like life is going to no matter what fucking hits
- 57:18Speaker 1: you in the mouth. We're not sitting up here as
- 57:21Speaker 1: perfect individuals in every area of our life, or any
- 57:23Speaker 1: area of our life for that matter, it's you're gonna
- 57:25Speaker 1: constantly get hit in the mouth. That it's how you
- 57:27Speaker 1: deal as how you respond to whatever the adversity is
- 57:30Speaker 1: at all times. Man. So people when you when you
- 57:33Speaker 1: hear stories and then you're able to pull yourself out, like,
- 57:35Speaker 1: I got this shit going on my life, but it
- 57:36Speaker 1: doesn't sound nearly as bad as what this individual is
- 57:39Speaker 1: going through. How did he get out of that? And
- 57:41Speaker 1: then you latch onto something because you all realize we're
- 57:44Speaker 1: all the fucking same. Yeah, And it's the meaning that
- 57:47Speaker 1: I'm giving these facts in my life that's hold me back.
- 57:50Speaker 1: Think about the meaning he could have been given to
- 57:52Speaker 1: his stress and his facts if he really wanted to
- 57:55Speaker 1: be down and out. But he fucking overcame that shit.
- 57:57Speaker 1: Why can't I do it? Yeah? Yeah, Yeah, soup that
- 58:00Speaker 1: juices me up. That's that's that's everything.
- 58:03Speaker 2: That is, everything that is this show embodied and encompassed
- 58:07Speaker 2: and manifested in that comment.
- 58:09Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, dude, shout out. Thank you for that comment.
- 58:13Speaker 7: J Tar.
- 58:13Speaker 1: I'm glad you guys are doing well. I hope you
- 58:15Speaker 1: guys are kicking ass and rocking, and even though it's
- 58:17Speaker 1: hard times when you're not, just just constantly do whatever
- 58:20Speaker 1: you can to think about this shit. Maybe it's a
- 58:22Speaker 1: few sentences you write in your notes app, take a
- 58:24Speaker 1: screenshot and put it as a lock screen on your
- 58:25Speaker 1: phone to remind you, because again it's hard. It's like
- 58:28Speaker 1: you have a vision of mind. You have the processes
- 58:30Speaker 1: and disciplines that you're gonna You tell yourself that I'm
- 58:33Speaker 1: gonna knock this shit out of the park every day.
- 58:35Speaker 1: But you gotta be. You gotta find a way too
- 58:37Speaker 1: to remind yourself of why you started in the first place.
- 58:40Speaker 1: But shout out you, bro, I'm fucking the piss is
- 58:43Speaker 1: getting hot right now because I love this. This was
- 58:46Speaker 1: from Garrett Frile. This is on YouTube bet bet six
- 58:51Speaker 1: checking in. I lost my dad on Father's Day in
- 58:53Speaker 1: twenty twenty one, one month after having my precious baby girl.
- 58:59Speaker 1: The odds are not hitn't We're not We're not. We're
- 59:01Speaker 1: not buying the odds on this one. God damn it,
- 59:04Speaker 1: We'll After hearing you talk about that book your mom wrote,
- 59:07Speaker 1: it brought me to tears because your son up a bitch.
- 59:12Speaker 1: Garrett stay calm, stay poised. I have a voicemail for
- 59:20Speaker 1: my dad that I haven't listened to since he passed.
- 59:33Speaker 1: I read.
- 59:34Speaker 2: I can read it for you if you want.
- 59:42Speaker 1: Dude, crying's fucking cool, man, just just cry more. He
- 59:47Speaker 1: finally listened to it, and it was him telling me
- 59:54Speaker 1: how much he loved me and was proud of me.
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: I highly suggest you go read that because it could
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: brighten your day way more than it dampers it. Thank you,
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: guys for being so vulnerable. Let's see. I don't know
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: how you all feel hearing this voice, but it paints
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: me having this. Thank you guys for being so vulnerable
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: and inspiring us all to be better dads. Appreciate you. Garrett.
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: That's all I got, man. Shout out Garrett.
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: The got some Derek got some Tis shoes for the boys.
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: And again, I mean Kleenex you got. You have such
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: a big opportunity just staring right at you, dude, shout
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: out fore, shout out kleen X. No, Garrett, thank you
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: for that. I'm fired up, man, I fired up that
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: you heard something and uh, when.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: Did you make you it? Wanted to make you go
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: listen to that voicemail. I can imagine how emotional that was.
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: But I also on that note, and my brother Wyatt
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: texted me.
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: God, did he watch the episode? Wyatt says, he's uh,
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: he said, watch for the Dads. I'm low key it's
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: your one fan.
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: I watch everything with the crowd with the laughing cry faces.
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: And he's like, totally feel you on not wanting to
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: experience the emotions. Boys, God damn it. Good Ah. Let mean,
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: maybe I need to put on the Bain mask because
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: I read these. But he's like, totally feel you not
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: wanting to experience the emotions that come with opening that
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: journal for mom. But she did write it. She did
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: write it, and this he's got to laugh out loud.
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: I'm just in a state of emotion and right now
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: that I just can't get out of it because of
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: old Garrett and that thank you for sending that comment, Garrett.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: But he's like, but she did write it with the
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: intemp fort you to read it. You should read it.
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: Laugh out loud. That was that was it? Save me, sir?
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: All right, jump in here. I'll jump out one one
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: small note on the journal. I'd love that you that
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: you talked about it and that it's something that's on
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: your mind and just wanted to emphasize find find that
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: perfect moment for it and shout out Garrett again for
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: that comment, because that was that was really cool, dude.
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: What what an incredible opportunity to get to be able
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: to like celebrate somebody and remember.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: Yeah, and Garrett, I will say like that comment, and
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: I've done it several times with that comment in particular.
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: It's like, I sit there, I read the comment and
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm like, you know when you're talking to
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: yourself and you kind of just whisper out loud, and
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: I'm just like, I gotta read that journal because like
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: I'm reading that comment. It's like I went back and
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: listened to the voicemail and yeah, man, I can't I
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: can't wait for you to read it.
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: And I'll move on, but I can't wait for you
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: to read it because I feel like some really cool
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: stuff is going to come from it. That's the last
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: thing I'll say about that, but I'm excited for you
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: will and Garrett, You're the man.
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: I do have a dad hack off of the journal,
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: off of the journal reference because I did see, like
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: I again, I logged on, I peeped into the comments
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: that are on Spotify because oh yeah, yeah yeah, and
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: Quinn sent this. It's a dad hack. The journal app
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: on the iPhone. You can set it up give you
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: a reminder every day, and it will also give you
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: suggestions based on photos and locations that you have visited
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: each day. Most of the work is done, you just
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: had a little commentary in there each day. I've been
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: trying to write a little each time since my daughter
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: was born last December. When she turns one, I'm planning
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: to print it out. I'm planning to print out the
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: journals and make it a booklet and hope to have
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: one for each year of her life. Oh my god,
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: that is solid dad game, Quinn, And thank you for
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: sending that comment.
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: Yeah, solid dad game. And to that same point, Dan
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: more of Itz. This is a longer email. I know
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: we've been doing a lot of these comments, so I'll paraphrase,
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: but Dan essentially wrote to us saying that his dad
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: passed away when he was twenty three, and his dad
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: was a very quiet man. He was very close with them,
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: but he wasn't the dad wasn't a man of many words,
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: and he wished that he had had a bit more
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: from his dad, and so to that point, he actually
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: started he set up an email in a Google Drive
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: to Derek's point last week for his baby girl. He
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: started writing and dumping picks in therefore, and I just
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: think that that's so cool that he also says GBR
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: But I think that's it's so cool that something that
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: you brought up on the podcast has other people wanting
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: to do the same for their kids.
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: And yeah, it's cool, dude. I can't stop get I
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: can't get out of this emotional state I'm in right now.
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: You want me to move on to Alan Tucker from YouTube?
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: Is that a sad one?
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: That?
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: Is that one? It's just, you know, if you've lost
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: a parent, and anybody that has heard me talk about
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: my mom knows that I struggle, and it's like all
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: of this stuff is great, and there's so much of
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: a battle that goes on because it's like seeing people
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: open up about you know, the ones they cared about.
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: And my mom to me was she's one of the
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: best people ever. She was everything to me. So there's
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: like this in moments that like I'm having now, which
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: happened every now and then, but it just reminds you
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: that life is so precious because there's this like fight
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: that goes on when I'm thinking about her to where
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: I love that people share that I get to just
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: sit with my emotion on it. Yeah, because there's also
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: this person that's fighting that just is so angry that
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: they're not here anymore. And so that's what this is,
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: this kind of feeling that I'm having. It's just you know,
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: I'm sure sure all love. I know, I'll love reading
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: whatever's in there, but again it's like another reminder that
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: that she's gone. And personally, it's, uh, I think to myself, like,
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: when will I not feel so much emotion? You know
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: what I mean? Yeah? Oh fuck man.
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: You know the emotion will always uh, the emotion will
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: always be there because you love her. And I can
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: tell that there is anger there, frustration there because it's
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: it doesn't feel fair, and there will be something that
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: you have to let go in that moment that you
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: read the journal.
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: Yeah, but.
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: It will bring so much life, It will create so
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: much life. When you do something will be bored out
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: of it.
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: No question. A lot of things I feel like have
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: been from that moment been bored out of it for good.
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: For the ripple effect, how she impacted me in my
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: life and how I wanted to impact my kids, and
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: how I hold it so much closer now because that
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: moment happened that I'm like, I sit back and I'm like,
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: am I who I am as a dad if she's
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: still alive? Not like, am I a bad dad? But
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: since this is, since it's happened, it's like it's so
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: much at the forefront of my mind at all times. Yeah,
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: it's one of those things I'm sure people out there
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: who have lost a parent that are truly so near
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: and dear to their heart to where there's also a
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: part of me that's like, it upsets me how much
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: I loved her because I have to feel so much pain,
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: and I feel like that's a normal I tell myself
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: this is probably a normal thing, because it's like because
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: quickly I'm like, I'm glad I loved her so much.
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: But part of you, when you're in those moments, you
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: just you also get angry because it's like, fuck, man,
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: why did I have to love her so much? Because
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: you do feel so much pain. It's such like a
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: double edged sword when understanding how precious everything is and
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: how much you just love on people and they could
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: be fucking gone and it's unfair and it's not fair
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: and yeah, I don't know. This is just like the
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: inside of my brain just talking on from every angle
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: right now, trying to talk to this on the podcast
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: and I do whatever is in this episode. I appreciate
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: everybody being patient with me because that was a Yeah,
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: that was a real moment.
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: I think that it's losing someone is sad. I think
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: it is a blessing. There is a blessing to be
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: found in it of just like what a benchmark she
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: said in your life, and that you have full appreciation
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: for her, that you just want to be such an
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: incredible parent like she was. And I think that's really
- 1:10:23Speaker 2: really cool. I think it's really awesome the way that
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: you're able to work through your emotions on it and
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: identify how you're feeling on it. And I'm just proud
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: of you because it ain't easy. I know I cry
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: at the drop of the hat, but Will Compton does not.
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: And based on these episodes we've been doing it, I
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: don't see a crier that.
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: Yeah, that one was a different.
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: That was different. I just want you to know that
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: you're the man and the love you have for your
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: mom's a real thing. And I'm just excited to hear
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: and see what or not see, but hear what was
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: in those journals for you.
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I am too. And it's like I sit there
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: and I read Garrett Garrett's comment and he lost his
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: dad on Father's Day and it was one month after
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: having his girl, his baby girl, And that's just another
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: thing that angers you because I just know she would
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: have been such a kick ass grandma. And it's my
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: kids will never get to know where, They'll get to
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: know where through me, and it just sucks. God, that
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: part sucks, man. So I'm sure it sounds like Garrett
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: was super close with his dad. Yeah, So I know
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: that pain and that anger that you will sporadically have
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: at times because that part just sucks. Bro. You can
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: have all the teddy bears that are wrapped in you know,
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: her dresses, insane insanely awesome gifts to remember and remind
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: and try and constantly talk about Grandma, but just know
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: that you never get to meet the person and I would.
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: I'm it's like I'm hopeful that my girls, like even
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: if I'm this way for the rest of time, like
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: it makes him that much more curious about how Grandma was,
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: because like man Dad, he feels when he talks about Mom.
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: Well if it makes if it makes you feel any better.
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: My grandfather, Charlie, who I wanted to That's where the
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: name Charlie came from. He had Parkinson's and he was
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: in late Parkinson's when I met him, so I never
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: really knew him, knew him. And when he passed my
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: I mean my mom, she would share this is why
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: I'm sharing it. She was on the couch for three
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: or four weeks straight and I was just coming to
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: an age where I was able to like see emotion,
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: understand emotion. So I remember laying beside her on the
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: couch and why you you know, why you cry?
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: Mom?
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: And just the way that she spoke about her dad
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: in the stories. It did make me more interested in Charlie,
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: and I did go through his things when I got older,
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: and I wanted to know about He was an engineer
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: and I wanted to know all about the bridges that
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: he was building in Alabama and learning about the company
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: they started. And I bet Rue and Scotti will have
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: that same thing of like just wanting to know about
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: her teaching and wanting to know more about your mom.
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: So I think that will.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: Happen just quickly.
- 1:13:37Speaker 4: I actually exact same situation as Shuram, and I'll talk
- 1:13:41Speaker 4: to my dad and see if he's okay with this sin.
- 1:13:42Speaker 4: I don't see why he wouldn't. But my grandfather had
- 1:13:46Speaker 4: Parkinson's died when I was five. It was the same thing.
- 1:13:49Speaker 4: I faint memories, but he was If anyone that has
- 1:13:53Speaker 4: been touched.
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: By Parkinson's, they know how.
- 1:13:57Speaker 4: Awful that diseases, and it just takes away. But as
- 1:14:01Speaker 4: I gotten older, like that memory through my dad lives
- 1:14:05Speaker 4: pretty strong, and there's a real curiosity within my grandmother.
- 1:14:09Speaker 4: I always got to talk to her about him, and
- 1:14:12Speaker 4: whether it's stories or great memories. You know, you learn
- 1:14:16Speaker 4: so much and there's not a day goodbye that you're like, man,
- 1:14:18Speaker 4: I wish I got to know him really well. But
- 1:14:22Speaker 4: that memory that lives through others, it's really important, you know,
- 1:14:25Speaker 4: And it's not it's one of those things that you
- 1:14:28Speaker 4: grow up and you just try to take the good
- 1:14:32Speaker 4: that you hear from others and like, yeah, it's you know,
- 1:14:35Speaker 4: would you want another way, of course? But at the
- 1:14:38Speaker 4: same time, like having that presence through your parents is
- 1:14:42Speaker 4: like an amazing thing to have. I would never want
- 1:14:46Speaker 4: it a different way where no one talked about, you know,
- 1:14:51Speaker 4: my grandfather. I would always, you know, want it to
- 1:14:53Speaker 4: be talked about and laugh and share stories and.
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: The best to hear about.
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: So I appreciate you guys, man, yeah seriously, because it
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: feel like you know when that like there's an awkward
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: part of me too, that when I'm kind of breaking down.
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: But I appreciate you guys kind of sitting that with
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: me and giving giving your thoughts and encouragement. You guys
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: are good dudes. You as well, Derek. I mean, we've
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: known each other, not even that long. I'll look back,
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: I see I can't break.
- 1:15:24Speaker 6: It down with me to make you in this state,
- 1:15:27Speaker 6: But I oftentimes like being the new guy here. I
- 1:15:30Speaker 6: like driving in. I don't think you guys, and I
- 1:15:32Speaker 6: know you do, but like realize the impact you have
- 1:15:36Speaker 6: on just like everyday people. And so I was contemplating
- 1:15:38Speaker 6: that that common obviously, but like the fact that you
- 1:15:41Speaker 6: even going through your situation made someone else do that
- 1:15:45Speaker 6: like I was. I was crying reading it, like it's
- 1:15:47Speaker 6: it's unbelievable what you guys and chef two, Like the
- 1:15:50Speaker 6: three of you have started and done here, and you're
- 1:15:52Speaker 6: changing people's lives just by doing something that you guys
- 1:15:56Speaker 6: wanted to do.
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: It's fucking awesome.
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: Derek.
- 1:15:59Speaker 2: I felt composure. I felt very spoiled yesterday because Derek
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: brought a message from a girl who was getting picked
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: on at school. And I'll leave names out of it
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: because I don't know if he wanted it on the
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: podcast or not, but he had reached out to the
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: four of the dad's phone basically saying, Hey, my little
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: girl had a dead tooth from when she fell. She
- 1:16:35Speaker 2: was getting bullied at school. We went to the dentist,
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: she got it pulled. She was very brave and would
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: anyone affiliated with the show. I want to send her
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: a message and just tell her what a great job
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: she did because she watches the show with me.
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: H Cryan's cool, big dog.
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: The parlay we could have built with all these breakdowns, the.
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: Car we're hitting the para double.
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: Yeah, but just getting just in that video was very
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: cool and like, uh, like truly, who are we to
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: be put in a situation like that? It's cool, It's
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: very cool. Composure. I can't even look at Will. I'm
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: now just looking at the chef because they're crying lesson
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: will Is, But yeah, there's really cool. And his daughter
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: sit a video back and uh it's like the best
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: two minute video I've ever watched.
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: So this year we're just we're in a big therapy session.
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: I love it. I know whoever's been sticking with us
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: and sitting through its tears in their eyes and it's
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: just we're just having We're just all having a moment together. Man.
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: Yeah, Dad Loss, I haven't done my laundry in a while,
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: and I think Jill's trying to teach me a lesson
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: by not doing it for me. So I'm out of
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: underwear and shout out my friend Colin. He jokingly sent
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: me a European style swimsuit uh the other month, and Colin,
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: I'm currently wearing that European south swimsuit as underwear right
- 1:18:54Speaker 2: now because I'm all out of underwear.
- 1:18:56Speaker 7: Uh.
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: That is my dad Loss for the week.
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: Get on the laundry, buddy, I gotta get on it, buddy.
- 1:19:04Speaker 2: What am I doing?
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: Yeah? What are you doing? I'm bro I the pile
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: of my laundry. It sits all year round, like where
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: like maybe once maybe twice a year. It's like I'll
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: have the switch will flip and it's gonna be a
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: clean closet. But that's the only time I'll ever be clean,
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: cause I'll like, you know, I'll rip a couple of
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: loads of laundry. But once I'm like, okay, it's like
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: the whites, some colors, and then I'll be good. I'll
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: be good to go, and then I don't get to
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: the stuff that I'm like I need to do. You know,
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: whether it's hoodies, if it's springing summertime, it's like hood
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: the hoodie pile and jeans from whatever I ended on before,
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: they sit there all year round until it's hoodie and
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: jean time. Yeah. But I think I think a lot
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: of the boys out there struggle with the laundry. Oh dude,
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: I and like, got my pile that sits by the bed.
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: I'm gonna wear you know, you without out of underwear.
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: Your underwear now is sitting on the side of your bed.
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: Your underwear. So so maybe I'll wear these gym shorts again.
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: It's gonna sit next to my bed. Why don't you
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: pick that up? I might wear it later in the week.
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: Yeah, And I woke up. This morning, I went over
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: to our Jill does a good job of like we
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: have a dirty clothes hamper for Jill me and then
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: towels and sheets. And I saw mine as I was
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: walking out of the house and it's just like a
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: volcano slowly oozing lava out of it. And I'm like,
- 1:20:25Speaker 2: I get hey, I got the message, Honey, I'll do
- 1:20:28Speaker 2: my laundry.
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: Yeah. You take your clothes off, and you're like, all right,
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: it's kind of looks like it might tip over. Let
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: me just rebalance it by placing my clothes here so
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: it doesn't fall over. You kind of like smush it
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: down a little. The morning, you step back and look
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: at it, and you're like, all right, I can I'll
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: do the laundry tomorrow. Tomorrow.
- 1:20:42Speaker 2: A very humbling reminder to you, because I told Chef
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: this this morning. I have like twenty five pairs of underwear.
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: If that'll lets you know how long.
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: It's been since I've done laundry. That's a scary thought.
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: Yeah, if it makes y'all feel any better.
- 1:20:59Speaker 4: The uh came up she got in last night, but yesterday,
- 1:21:03Speaker 4: before I came in, I was playing out coming in
- 1:21:05Speaker 4: at like want like one or socause we have the
- 1:21:07Speaker 4: stream and uh ends up. I wake up and I realized, like,
- 1:21:11Speaker 4: how no Launders done? Room's a mess. I was pulling
- 1:21:16Speaker 4: like a risky business, like trying to get everything clean
- 1:21:19Speaker 4: as fast as possible. So the girlfriend Nick come home
- 1:21:21Speaker 4: and be like, could have you know picked.
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: Up a little bro also shout out that Alex right
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: there that is st six, shout out that Alex is
- 1:21:33Speaker 2: in town. And we gotta get the girls on a
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: Majong game we have we have to make. It was
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: crazy that they both played Majo.
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: Does your girl play Majong? Derek? What is Majohn?
- 1:21:42Speaker 6: That was gonna be my exact question? Is that the
- 1:21:44Speaker 6: dragon dice?
- 1:21:45Speaker 2: Yeah, dude, it's like it's this it's Chinese, I believe
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: of origin. It's like Chinese uh board game and it's too.
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: Like to record.
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure the oldest board game that's like Circuit
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: still to this day, and it's basically like a Chinese
- 1:22:04Speaker 2: version of Dominoes on steroids of like you have these
- 1:22:10Speaker 2: certain patterns that you've got to match, and you have
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: a card that's roughly this size that lets you know
- 1:22:17Speaker 2: all the matching sequences that you can do. And each
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: matching sequence is a certain amount of points, and you
- 1:22:26Speaker 2: have some pieces, they have some pieces. You're trying to
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: go for this one strategy that I could pick up
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: that you're trying to go for it, so then I
- 1:22:37Speaker 2: can go for another strategy because now all the pieces
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: that you don't want, those are the pieces that I need.
- 1:22:44Speaker 2: And so you could think that you're doing a really
- 1:22:45Speaker 2: good job.
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: But really a strategy.
- 1:22:48Speaker 4: Game, it's very convoluted and it's a big learning curve.
- 1:22:51Speaker 4: It's kind of like trying to learn how to play poker,
- 1:22:53Speaker 4: like legitimate, like when you play with the actual people.
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: Know.
- 1:22:56Speaker 4: Well, let me say, once you get it down, it
- 1:22:58Speaker 4: rips and some highly competitive game, you.
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: Get some cold ones, dud, because I like with board games,
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: I can just play and have fun. I don't have
- 1:23:06Speaker 2: to win. And it's one of those games that you
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: can have some cold ones ripping the whole time, or
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: some wine.
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: It's fun. Dude.
- 1:23:13Speaker 6: Well have you seen Crazy Rich Asians? Yeah, it's the
- 1:23:15Speaker 6: game they're playing at the end with the daughter who's like,
- 1:23:17Speaker 6: you don't know.
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: Me, okay, yeah, the only way I know it. But yeah,
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: all right, yeah, yeah Crazy Ridges. Of course, my wife's
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: at Filipino. You don't think we were in there opening
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: night watching Crazy Riches. Hey, come on, great movie.
- 1:23:29Speaker 2: I need to see that.
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: Yeah, Scale, I need to see that. And it's like
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: they're they're in Bro, you would love it. That's a great,
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: great movie for you guys this weekend. Swear to god,
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: it's a great it's a romantic, it's it's everything. It's
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: a really good movie. I need to watch that. I've
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: yet to watch it. And it's like they're in Singapore,
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: right Bro. The food scene in Singapore, it's like, I'm
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: looking at Singapore and my baby, we need to get
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: out to Singapore.
- 1:23:57Speaker 2: Could not be more correct on that, any type of
- 1:24:00Speaker 2: cuisine that's like Indonesian, Southeast Asian, Like, Bro, watch Crazy
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: Rich Asians. Good funny, I need a laugh. Great wrong com.
- 1:24:14Speaker 2: It is a great rom com.
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: Honey.
- 1:24:15Speaker 4: How we didn't even put it to a like a
- 1:24:17Speaker 4: rom com. I think it's like I always think it's
- 1:24:21Speaker 4: it's it's a rom com. But I'd almost put it
- 1:24:24Speaker 4: over more on the like it's no, I'd put it
- 1:24:26Speaker 4: more as like just an I feel like rom coms
- 1:24:28Speaker 4: are like, yeah, I see what you're saying, Like you
- 1:24:31Speaker 4: don't call get Out a true horror movie like a slasher,
- 1:24:33Speaker 4: because get Out it's like an incredible It's almost like
- 1:24:36Speaker 4: a step up, because I feel like when you genre
- 1:24:38Speaker 4: a movie like that, yeah, I'm weird ramble here. I
- 1:24:41Speaker 4: feel like you're putting it to like a shelf. I
- 1:24:43Speaker 4: would put crazy rich Asians.
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: I agree with you, like you were saying, if people
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: hear the rom com tag, then it's like, all right,
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: the expectation of the seriousness is down.
- 1:24:51Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, I'm gonna go as certain and they all
- 1:24:53Speaker 4: follow a very specific pattern.
- 1:24:55Speaker 2: I would put this movie like a.
- 1:24:56Speaker 4: Step above, yes, and I'm not a huge romp like
- 1:24:59Speaker 4: rom com guy. I would put it like Star is Born,
- 1:25:02Speaker 4: Like that's another one, which that one's not in comedy really,
- 1:25:04Speaker 4: but that one's depressing.
- 1:25:06Speaker 2: I have like how to Lose a guy in ten
- 1:25:09Speaker 2: days and in that like upper echelon ten things I
- 1:25:13Speaker 2: hate about you and that upper echelon.
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: Yeah, this it's a great one. You, you and Jill
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: should definitely snuggle up and watch it this weekend. It's
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: that good.
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: It's that good, like a hey weekend movie. We gotta
- 1:25:23Speaker 2: watch this one. I'm not trying to be TMI dude,
- 1:25:25Speaker 2: but Jill and I have been snuggling a lot, dude,
- 1:25:29Speaker 2: just saying.
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: All right, big, and I don't mean it like that.
- 1:25:32Speaker 2: All right, big, I don't mean it like that.
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: I'm dead to you.
- 1:25:38Speaker 2: There's nothing better than snuggling and watching movies. Oh, really quick,
- 1:25:42Speaker 2: I'll keep this so quick. We gotta keep it under
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: that week you do under an hour. Jill would not
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: watch Severance. I couldn't get this girl in Severance to
- 1:25:51Speaker 2: save her life. And I'm sitting there, I'm talking about
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: how great Severance is and she she got five minutes
- 1:25:58Speaker 2: into the first episode one. This was way back, like
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: your side, keep it quick. Yeah. Anyways, Jared comes over
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: shout out demon and he's like, hey, y'all should watch Severance.
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: It's a really good show. Well, all of a sudden,
- 1:26:13Speaker 2: it's the best idea in the world. And Jill's like,
- 1:26:15Speaker 2: we should watch Severance. That sounds great. I bit my
- 1:26:18Speaker 2: tongue so hard. And then she started it like four days.
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: Agaess she already finished postseasons. It's the best show ever. Yeah, well,
- 1:26:27Speaker 2: I mean she's on maternity lead. Yeah, you know, good
- 1:26:31Speaker 2: for her, bro Truman, it's the best show ever. I
- 1:26:34Speaker 2: can't believe you didn't tell me about this.
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: I'm just what you say to it.
- 1:26:38Speaker 2: I said, bitch. Sorry into the mic, I said bitch.
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: But I truly was like.
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: Oh my god.
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: And now whenever we see Adam Scott on TV, she's
- 1:26:49Speaker 2: like Mark Ass, I'm like, you think you.
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: Know, you.
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: Don't know.
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: Let's talk about some dad life. Yeah, let's talk about dad.
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: I did my dad loss?
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: Did you have a dad loss?
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: More of like a not like a dad loss, but
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: more of like a dad guilt creeps in when you're
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: kiddo's sick and I like, we traveling to New York,
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: oh yeah, yea, having the stream that we have to
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: do to where char was on well shooting on the bedtime,
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: the bedtime leaks over whenever I have to leave to
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: go to New York. Yeah, because the way we try
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: to fly to New York, plane doesn't leave until like
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: eight thirty, so that way I could do bedtime at home.
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: And then she was on bedtime duty when we were
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: doing the Thursday night stream, which it's like this part
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: of you as a parent that's like, oh, you know,
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: fortunately I'm not at the house dealing with this. And
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: there there's the other side that's the guilt side, like
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: that's funny, but that's also like a real thing too, truly,
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: And it's like I'm feeling guilty because Scotty got like
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: a hand mouthfoot, which is like this sickness is illness,
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: this disease where you can have I typed it into
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: so that way I can give to people some information.
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: The symptoms of hand fout mouthfoot are hand foot mouth,
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: beaver sore throat, painful mouth, ulcers, rash with small blisters
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: on the hands, feet, and but drooling, loss of appetite.
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: And Scotty currently has that. So I've like felt bad
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: not getting to be at home on some of those nights,
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: like truly, because she gets fussy. She's not taking a bottle.
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: We have to feed her like kind of a cold
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: bottles now so she'll drinking because of the sores in
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: her mouth. She's been eating pretty good for the most part.
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: And then it's like the things you worry about when
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: they have a foot in mouth is like hydration, So
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: if they're not drinking their bottle or nothing like that,
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: like trying to get her to drink water, say, off
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: the top of that, because she's not like wetting or
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: diaper as much, but just real fussy. You kind of
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: have them asleep in your arms and then you put
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: them down the crib. And the moment you put them
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: in the crib and you're trying to like you know,
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: get like a mission impossible sneak out, they notice you're
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: not holding them. They start crying. And Scotty's been a
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: tremendous sleeper, like once you get her to sleep, put
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: her in the crib, done deal, twelve hours and she's
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: just been really fussy to where you put it on
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: the crib. Moment you like your hands leaver, she wakes
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: up and nose and starts crying. Or you got we
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: just got a little you know, like the little cracking
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: noise in our door as you're opening that little squeak
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: once you open it, and then those next three inches
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: might have a squeak to where you try and open
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: it really fast just to get the other side and
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: hopefully they don't hear it, but then she'll hear it,
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: wakes up, just been really fussy and been hard to
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: put down at night. Yeah, so the dad loss is
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: more of like a dad guilt because like we're watching
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: the fucking Thursday night football stream and She's like, you
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: can't like go late to it or help me out
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: or like help out doing this, And I'm just like, sweetheart,
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: I gotta gotta good. I gotta do X Y and
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: Z for the stream, whether it's a social ad or
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: thanks for FanDuel that we got to deliver and do.
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: And you just feel bad that I'm coming home because
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: the day that, like we did, I go to New York.
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: She's struggling with Scotti at nighttime to where ultimately she
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: has to get Scotty out of the crib and she
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: sleeps with her in bed throughout the night because she's
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: only seeming to sleep when she's in one of our arms. Yeah,
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: and then the the next day, it's like we have
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: get up, we do all the ESPN stuff, we have
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: to fly back. It's early afternoon. We have an interview
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: we got to do with the Zach Brown Band with
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: Zach Brown. That's at like two thirty. So you're getting
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: home and I'm only home for a couple hours to
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: where I'm able to play with everybody, to hang out
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: and be dad, be husband. And then after dinner it's
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: like I got to go into the shop and you
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: stream and you're just she's on double bedtime duty and
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: you just know as a parent, you know how hard
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: that shit is. Yeah, to kind of man the ship
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: with the kiddos when your partner has to go to
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: work or has to leave town, whatever the case may be.
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: And so it's more of like the dad losses, like
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: the dad guilt.
- 1:30:33Speaker 2: Because say it was like a one off, it's like, oh,
- 1:30:35Speaker 2: they're being fussy, and you kind of like think to yourself,
- 1:30:38Speaker 2: you might be leaning more.
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: Oh thank God, like I don't have to I get
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: to go and like sleep in a hotel at night.
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: But when it's like the kiddo's sick and you just
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: know they're in it, and like I'm you know, whenever
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: we would have breaks and like texting her like hey,
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: get in a pulse check. Please tell me you relaxing
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: downstairs like by yourself. But it took her kind of
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: an extra hour to get Scottie down. She's sleeping a
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: lot better, she's eating a lot better, good cold bottles,
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: just getting her going because it's so sad having a
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: sick kiddo and when they just want to cuddle, you know,
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: if we set her down or put her somewhere else,
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: or like put her in a seat to where we
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: have to do something around the kitchen or around the house,
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: and she just kind of, you know, it has kind
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: of like a sour, sad cry going on because they
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: just want to be held. It's the saddest thing, bro.
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: The only experience I have with that is when.
- 1:31:26Speaker 2: Uh uh Scarlett had jaundice, so she had to be
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: under those billy lights, those blue lights at the hospital
- 1:31:33Speaker 2: and just not being able to pick her up and
- 1:31:35Speaker 2: having to just hold her hands.
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:31:37Speaker 2: Man, as she's under the billy lights, just screaming and
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: you're like, oh, I.
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: Just want to saddest thing in the world. So it's
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: kind of like my dad lost, Like dad guilt is
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: a little Scottie Joe was currently currently under the weather
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: just seeing the rashes on their little feet and stuff.
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: They're not bothering her, but it's just it's just like
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: a sad scene. You're like, oh, poor little Scottie Jojo.
- 1:31:59Speaker 2: Also more more important for you because you have a
- 1:32:03Speaker 2: buzz head it on. Adults can appear on your scalp,
- 1:32:09Speaker 2: so just be on the lookout for that.
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: Okay, I've done, We've done a great job, like staying
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: like I can't I'm not able to get sick because
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: I'm thinking I'm like getting I would like get worried, Like, hey,
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: i gotta flood in New York. I'm not gonna be
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: sick in the morning. She's like, no, no, it's not like that.
- 1:32:21Speaker 2: Well, it's only contagious when they liked or have a
- 1:32:26Speaker 2: fever with it.
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: Yeah. So like if she's past the fever stage, you're five,
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: Yeah she is. Yeah, but sad scene, bro, because you
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: used know to your little kiddo, like Scotty's a trooper,
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: it's scott Zilla. So when she's down and out, it's
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: like you just know something. So she's struggling, You're just like, man,
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: you just know she's hurting. She's struggling, but.
- 1:32:48Speaker 2: Cry like her daddy, like a daddy, right like her daddy.
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, no, but yeah that was that was my
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: dad lost sixers.
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: We interrupt this episode because this show for the dads.

- 1:34:40Speaker 2: Let's get back to the episode.
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: But my crack of cold one this week is when
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: your oldest understands the mission like I was experiencing it
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: when I was solo with the kids last week, and
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: even like you're getting reu ready for batting everything else.
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: But when your oldest understands what's at stake, whether I
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: got to put the youngest down, fir, and you're just
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: kind of giving them the roll deecks of the rules
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: or the timeline of the structure of what bedtime' is
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: gonna look like, and Roode knocks it out of the
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: park on her own to where they're excited and they
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: want to come show you that they're dressing their pjs,
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: you know, taking off their clothes, going potty, coming back out,
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: putting her pull up on, putting her pjs on, coming
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: at you with just a brush left, because they've done
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: absolutely everything to get ready for bed. They know it's
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: like story time and hair brush and everything else. But
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: when your oldest understands the mission on how hey listen,
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: mom and dad is going gonna go on a date.
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: Our babysitter came over, took Charo to Taro, and I
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: went to Oku for a little date night one night
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: this past week. And that sounds sick, by the way,
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: What is that Oku? Yeah, it's like a sushi spot
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: sushi Asian Japanese cuisine very good, highly recommend. Good ambiance,
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: great scene. Yeah, definitely a figure snapper. But the babysitter
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: came over and I'm like having a one on one
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: with Rue, and like, you know house, she's got to
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: help Ava and everything else. The Nava comes over and
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: I kind of tell her that the quick rundown with Scotty.
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: She's dealt with Scotti before, but give her to the
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: quick how to change her, like, you know, change her
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: on the changing table, sleepsack, pajamas, milk, get the sound
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: machine on, close the blinds, blah blah, all that the
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: whole rundown. And I'm like and I just tell her confidently.
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: I'm like, and then you go in with Rue, like
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: let ru use a TV coupon like while you're doing Scottie.
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: And then when you get to Rue, rull do a
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: great job of walking you through everything. Yeah, and then
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: sure sure is shit enough, Like you get a text
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: message when you're at dinner, how was Rue? And she
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: was like she walked me through every step that she
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: had to do. Oh yeah, every step and then like
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: you know, read read me a book and then we
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: go brush your teeth, uh huh, brush your hair, all
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: that stuff. But Rue is flawless. So my crack of
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: cold one is when the oldest understands the mission.
- 1:36:48Speaker 2: Oh dude, well done, real shot, shout out real And
- 1:36:52Speaker 2: I would love to just be walked through the bedtime
- 1:36:57Speaker 2: routine by Rue. I'm sure she does a fabulous you
- 1:37:00Speaker 2: know she has dialed in Charles like, did you you
- 1:37:03Speaker 2: feel like Abe is good with everything?
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: Did you give her a rundown and Scotty? And I
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: was like, I mean I gave a rundown to Scotti
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: and then I just told her that Rue will handle
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: it when it comes to putting Rue down. No, no,
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: a brush our teeth? Yeah yeah, oh read two books
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: first and we go brush our teeth.
- 1:37:21Speaker 2: Dude, that's so sick. And that's a shout out to
- 1:37:24Speaker 2: you in Charo. I'll say that part because I mean, y'all,
- 1:37:27Speaker 2: y'all set up that.
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: What's it called routine structure, structure, thank you the discipline, discipline.
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: But yeah, that's so sick, dude. In those moments, I'm
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: I'm truly like, I trust Ruth's going to handle all
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: of this. Yeah, then you kind of give her a
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: one on one conversation before she comes over. She's going
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: to really need your help because she doesn't know because
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: she doesn't know. Yeah, and that mom and dadd like
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: God day night, and you know, Mama Dada always comes
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: back home. We let her know. She's like, I don't
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: want you to leave. We always come back home. Yeah,
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: we're gonna run right upstairshen we get home, we're gonna
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: give you a hug, kiss and three squeezes while you're
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: in bed. But whenever Avia comes over, sweetheart, she doesn't
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: know how to do bedtime, So you gotta you gotta
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: walk her through the process of how you do bedtime.
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: And I trust you. I trust that you know how
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: to do that and that you can lead her in
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: the right direction. Can you do that for dead? Yeah? Okay, boom,
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: what a lockstep. Once I walk away from that conversation,
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: I'm like, sweetheart, we're good to go. Real.
- 1:38:24Speaker 2: Seems like a true uh firstborn and her yeah uh
- 1:38:29Speaker 2: personality Yeah yeah yeah she is. My brother was a
- 1:38:32Speaker 2: true firstborn as well, so which will help Scotti jojo?
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:38:37Speaker 2: Absolutely, Oh yeah, all right, I let's do Oh what
- 1:38:42Speaker 2: are the odds because I didn't do it last week?
- 1:38:45Speaker 2: And correct me if I'm wrong, if I didn't do
- 1:38:47Speaker 2: it last week.
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: And the way we have a what are the odds?
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: With us crying every episode?
- 1:38:50Speaker 2: We do have a what are the odds? Uh?
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: Yeah, seriously, keep it under an hour, Keep an under
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: an hour.
- 1:38:57Speaker 2: J Merk, who is an air Zona State Sun devil,
- 1:39:02Speaker 2: he bet me on the diaper bet. I am zero
- 1:39:05Speaker 2: for two on diaper bets. Uh. For those that don't
- 1:39:08Speaker 2: know on social media, I will take up a bet.
- 1:39:11Speaker 2: College football wise, Baylor was playing Arizona State, uh and
- 1:39:16Speaker 2: they lost in the last second field goal. Jamrk, I am.
- 1:39:20Speaker 2: Today is Friday when we're recording this. I'm actually shipping
- 1:39:23Speaker 2: your two cases of size for Huggies today. Shout outs Hugies,
- 1:39:29Speaker 2: no free shout outs to Huggies and also just a
- 1:39:34Speaker 2: huge shout out to Jamrk. It was my first time
- 1:39:36Speaker 2: doing this, but uh, we're talking about the FaceTime and
- 1:39:39Speaker 2: the call feature on Twitter. I called Jaymrk on game day,
- 1:39:44Speaker 2: so how the diaper bet works. As usually somebody will
- 1:39:47Speaker 2: call me out on social media and say, hey, I'll
- 1:39:49Speaker 2: take you straight up. Jaymerk seemed like a very nice
- 1:39:53Speaker 2: guy and I gave him a little call on the
- 1:39:56Speaker 2: morning of game day and we just talked ball for
- 1:39:58Speaker 2: a little bit, but we're talking shop about Baylor, a
- 1:40:02Speaker 2: s U. And then we started talking about PT six
- 1:40:04Speaker 2: a little bit Nashville, and then uh, he's in Texas
- 1:40:08Speaker 2: right now. It was sick dude. It was just fun
- 1:40:10Speaker 2: like getting to interact with a PT sicko. And he's
- 1:40:15Speaker 2: a deserving winner. So we'll be shipping his diaper. But
- 1:40:18Speaker 2: what are the odds that I'll go over on diaper bets?
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: Baylor will get you. You'll be all right?
- 1:40:25Speaker 2: I do have I have an Oklahom mistake Siico that's
- 1:40:27Speaker 2: in my d MS.
- 1:40:28Speaker 4: I told SUREM. I was like, this is the week
- 1:40:31Speaker 4: where you go all out, Hey, all you fuckers out
- 1:40:35Speaker 4: there and still Water. He wants some yeah takes. I
- 1:40:39Speaker 4: would double any dads out there in still Water. You
- 1:40:42Speaker 4: want a piece of this ship?
- 1:40:45Speaker 2: Any pokes out there dumb enough to take a triple
- 1:40:48Speaker 2: down diaper bet? Yeah, I'm about to get like four
- 1:40:52Speaker 2: months worth of diapers.
- 1:40:53Speaker 4: Yeah, in the week that you play Texas tech Ego.
- 1:40:56Speaker 4: Uh yeah, if anyone wants to do.
- 1:40:58Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I don't think we're doing diaper anywhere, guys.
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: I got a survival kit. Yes, Pepperonis, Oh, Pepperoni's bro.
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: Round of applause for Pepperoni, Round of appause for Pepperoni's. Pepperonis.
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: But if you want a nice little go to snack
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: to get some of their protein in, Pepperoni's is a
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: good one. We get ours the from Applegate, the Applegate
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: Turkey uncured Pepperoni's, the Applegate brands.
- 1:41:27Speaker 2: Yeah, oh that sounds so good, dude. Any it's a
- 1:41:30Speaker 2: staple and rouse lunch box.
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: Any char cute type of meat. Yeah, oh, the Pepperonis
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: rust big on cheese sticks. She'll get her PEB and J.
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: But it's like, you want to pack a little extra
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: protein Pepperonis, keep it under an hour. But another layer
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: to that, dad hack. My mam always used to do
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: poo poo platters and she'd get the Pepperonis the cheese sticks,
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: but she would cut up the cheese sticks. You get
- 1:41:57Speaker 1: it real fancy on Like, yeah, board, I feel like
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: we go nuts over that. Yeah. Well, like when I'm
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: doing her lunchbox, it's like I'll throw in the Peppinoni's,
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: slice up some of her cheese stick, mix it in
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: there together where she has a couple of little pockets
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: and she's always bragging she's in the CPC every day
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: when she gets home from school.
- 1:42:17Speaker 2: What's the CPC Clean Plate Club? Buddy, that's from last week, sherman. Yeah,
- 1:42:23Speaker 2: on a show that you're on Clean Plate Club. It's
- 1:42:26Speaker 2: all about the Clean Plate Club. You want that cookie,
- 1:42:28Speaker 2: you got to get in the CPC. Come on, come on,
- 1:42:32Speaker 2: my you did to attack my survival kid. Scarlet's getting
- 1:42:37Speaker 2: to the size where she hasn't outgrown the Douna, but
- 1:42:40Speaker 2: she's gotten to the weight where she can now be
- 1:42:42Speaker 2: in the Nuna as well. The Nuna stroller is just
- 1:42:49Speaker 2: a game changer. And it's nothing against the Douna. Dude,
- 1:42:52Speaker 2: love the Douna, but the nunas like real high up
- 1:42:56Speaker 2: and it just kind of feels like the Cadillac of strollers.
- 1:43:00Speaker 2: I really have to brag on it.
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: I need to let me search this up because I'm
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: wondering if I have a Nuna.
- 1:43:04Speaker 2: The Nuna also it has like a seat adjuster to
- 1:43:08Speaker 2: where you can kind of go up and down leverage
- 1:43:11Speaker 2: wise on how high up your child sitting.
- 1:43:15Speaker 6: There was a comment I did not print it out
- 1:43:16Speaker 6: for it. There was a gentleman in the comment saying
- 1:43:18Speaker 6: that the Nuna can be used with the base and
- 1:43:21Speaker 6: without the base four seat belts.
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I know.
- 1:43:23Speaker 6: The last week we talked about we'll talk about the
- 1:43:26Speaker 6: Nuna base and things like that. There was a comment
- 1:43:28Speaker 6: saying that, so I didn't put it in there, but
- 1:43:30Speaker 6: to bring it up if we're talking Nuna apparently.
- 1:43:33Speaker 2: Dude, the thing Nuna is crazy and it is a
- 1:43:36Speaker 2: more expensive stroller than the Duna. Like, you'll have to
- 1:43:39Speaker 2: shell out and I will save this on the pod.
- 1:43:42Speaker 2: I did not spend my own money on it. It
- 1:43:44Speaker 2: was a gift from my dad. So shout out Papa.
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: Sheirm, Oh, buddy, we got the Nuna. Dude.
- 1:43:49Speaker 2: The Nuna rips, it rips and the weight wise, like
- 1:43:55Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure Rue, like Ru's probably not in a
- 1:43:59Speaker 2: stroller anymore.
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: But real, no, we have we have a double. Oh
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: it's not I don't think it's the Nuna one. It
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: might be hell at all.
- 1:44:06Speaker 2: But like, wait, wise Rube being a three year old,
- 1:44:08Speaker 2: like she could still fit in Nuna. Like they're dude
- 1:44:12Speaker 2: and just pushing uh. Like I love doing walks, dude,
- 1:44:16Speaker 2: And now that it's getting colder, Oh, I'm gonna be
- 1:44:19Speaker 2: taking Scarlet on so many walks. I'm very excited for that.
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: Yeah, bro, we got the we got the Nuna. It
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: is the Cadillac. We got the one that kind of
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: like looks like a bass in that too. Yes, and
- 1:44:31Speaker 1: that's a big dog. I'm talking about compliments everywhere. Oh yeah,
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: people like, oh, that's like the Ferrari strollers. I'm like,
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: you're goddamn righting.
- 1:44:39Speaker 2: Yeah. It truly like if you're going to it's got
- 1:44:42Speaker 2: some suspension to it. In our trunk or treat, the
- 1:44:46Speaker 2: PG six trunk re treat. If people are rolling up
- 1:44:49Speaker 2: in the Nuna, you're gonna have like eight dads kind
- 1:44:51Speaker 2: of standing there with their hands on their hips looking
- 1:44:53Speaker 2: at the Yeah, that's pretty nice. And what year is that?
- 1:44:58Speaker 2: What models? Yeah, yeah, this is twenty five.
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: Yeah it is good. Good shout out, good survival. Get
- 1:45:04Speaker 1: right there. Uh do we want to do six on
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: one the Dad's call in? Yeah, because we do have
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: a dad hack. I heard it within the call in,
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: So let's get do Let's lean into the people for
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: some dad hacks.
- 1:45:13Speaker 2: All right, this first one I have heard tailed that
- 1:45:15Speaker 2: this first one is legendary.
- 1:45:20Speaker 8: What's up, guys, This is logan from Virginia Beach. I'm
- 1:45:23Speaker 8: currently a member of Buds, hoping to joining Pt six soon.
- 1:45:26Speaker 8: I got a story that reminded me a little bit
- 1:45:28Speaker 8: of the Willi one Shelf story. So it happened about
- 1:45:31Speaker 8: a year ago, but I could see the conversation coming
- 1:45:34Speaker 8: back up. My wife decided to attack my manhood when
- 1:45:38Speaker 8: I let her know I did not feel safe hanging
- 1:45:40Speaker 8: Christmas lights on our Manserd roof. If you don't know
- 1:45:43Speaker 8: what a Mansard roof is, go ahead look it up.
- 1:45:45Speaker 8: I'm no task rabbit gooner like Willly one Shelf. I
- 1:45:48Speaker 8: put in an outdoor couch last year, built it myself,
- 1:45:51Speaker 8: hung the outdoor TV, built a fire pit. I like
- 1:45:54Speaker 8: doing those things, but I'm no expert. That's how I
- 1:45:56Speaker 8: am somewhat risk prone. That same fire pit I built
- 1:45:59Speaker 8: I caught on fire about two three years ago, burn
- 1:46:04Speaker 8: twenty two percent of my body.
- 1:46:06Speaker 2: Pretty good, We're back one, Joe. What I'm asking is
- 1:46:10Speaker 2: is it unreasonable?
- 1:46:12Speaker 8: And I told my wife I did not feel safe
- 1:46:14Speaker 8: hanging these Christmas lights on the second story of a
- 1:46:16Speaker 8: man's third roof because she thinks that, you know, not
- 1:46:21Speaker 8: quite a man, because I couldn't do that. That's all
- 1:46:24Speaker 8: I'm asking. Let me know your take on it. Go Pat,
- 1:46:26Speaker 8: go on Wisconsin, see you soon.
- 1:46:29Speaker 2: Do shut out, Logan, shout out, Logan a badger. You
- 1:46:33Speaker 2: don't want to get on that roof. You don't get
- 1:46:35Speaker 2: on that roof. You take your ass up that roof?
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: Sweet, are you want to hang these Christmas lights? I'm
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: task grabbinging these Christmas lights?
- 1:46:41Speaker 2: Answered roof looks insane.
- 1:46:43Speaker 1: You know I'm not getting on the roof.
- 1:46:46Speaker 2: That's a sheer drop off, Like there's no that you
- 1:46:50Speaker 2: can't walk on that. Yeah, logan, listen, if we need
- 1:46:54Speaker 2: to get if we need to get some kind of speakerphone,
- 1:46:57Speaker 2: we all get a hop.
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: On the phone.
- 1:46:59Speaker 2: We just have a carnversation with the wipey. We can
- 1:47:01Speaker 2: corner and we get Yeah, we get corner straight up
- 1:47:05Speaker 2: and we'll just act like we're friends from high school. Hey,
- 1:47:07Speaker 2: and they own a roofing company. Let me call the
- 1:47:10Speaker 2: I mean, you know, let's bounce some ideas off. Yeah, now, logan,
- 1:47:14Speaker 2: did you say you have a manswer? Oh shit, I
- 1:47:18Speaker 2: don't know.
- 1:47:18Speaker 1: Man, get the boys you might have might have to
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: get a just wearing the Bain mask while you're talking
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: standing behind you.
- 1:47:26Speaker 2: We're on face time. You need a time scrap it.
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: Look, yeah, the fuck that straight up, sweetheart. This is pt.
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: Six and we were meeting you in the A gap
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: on this situation. If your man does not want to
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: get on the roof dan Christmas lights because he's a
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: little wrist prone, he burnt twenty two percent of his body,
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: he might be a little intimidated by heights, you take
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: your candy ass up there if you want those lights on.
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: But if not, we're dealing. We're we're we're dealing this out.
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: We're getting a third party involved.
- 1:48:00Speaker 2: And listen that you may be sitting at home going,
- 1:48:03Speaker 2: oh well, of course, Willie one shelve's gonna say. Listen,
- 1:48:06Speaker 2: I've hung some shelves. I love doing it myself. But
- 1:48:09Speaker 2: this roof is staring me down in the A gap.
- 1:48:12Speaker 2: Hell no, hell no, I'm not getting on that roof.
- 1:48:16Speaker 2: That's crazy to Clark Griswold roof. Yes, I mean, that's
- 1:48:21Speaker 2: a fall off the ladder. That's a broken neck waiting
- 1:48:24Speaker 2: to happen.
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: And look there's some one shelfers out there. My damn,
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: my old man, he's a one shelfer. Like when Christmas
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: time was coming around, you know who's on the roof
- 1:48:33Speaker 1: My mom what she really Yeah, I belved that belt
- 1:48:41Speaker 1: belt needed to be fixed on the in the vehicle.
- 1:48:43Speaker 1: You know who's doing it, my mom? Yeah?
- 1:48:46Speaker 2: By hand?
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: Yes, bro, my mom would attack anything in everything in
- 1:48:50Speaker 1: the a gap. What a legend. Not the old man.
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: Not the old man. He's a one shelfer. He's a
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: that's where I get that gene.
- 1:48:58Speaker 2: You take the hat off and kind of scratch the
- 1:48:59Speaker 2: head is yeah.
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: Give me a beer.
- 1:49:07Speaker 2: That's great, logan. Yeah, stay off that roof.
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: Stay off the roof, Logan. Ten toes down, bro, Yes,
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: And if you show this clip, give her some context too,
- 1:49:18Speaker 1: like we're not actually coming at your wife. No, this
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: is all in good fun.
- 1:49:21Speaker 2: This is all just like I'm sure she isn't, you know,
- 1:49:23Speaker 2: sitting there with the cattle pro trying to get him
- 1:49:25Speaker 2: up there.
- 1:49:26Speaker 1: Yeah, we love you, missus, logan.
- 1:49:27Speaker 2: We do love you, missus Logan.
- 1:49:28Speaker 1: But give your boy a break, Give your boy break
- 1:49:31Speaker 1: on that. Just one thing he does all it sounds
- 1:49:32Speaker 1: like he's this is a man's man right here. He'll
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: do anything. He'll burn his.
- 1:49:36Speaker 2: Skin for you, outdoor sofa, outdoor fire pit. There was
- 1:49:40Speaker 2: one other thing. I was like, this guy's handy handy
- 1:49:43Speaker 2: as hell.
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, no, Willie, one shell.
- 1:49:46Speaker 2: He ain't no one shelf gooner like one shelf demon.
- 1:49:52Speaker 7: Uh.
- 1:49:52Speaker 1: This one comes from Ben.
- 1:49:56Speaker 7: Hey, what's up, boys? This is Ben down here in
- 1:49:59Speaker 7: North Carolina. Love the Pod. It's been such a light
- 1:50:02Speaker 7: in my life. Love hearing the stories every week. Got
- 1:50:05Speaker 7: me real excited for fatherhood, expecting a child any day now,
- 1:50:10Speaker 7: you know, it's very excited. But I have a serious,
- 1:50:13Speaker 7: unseerious question for you. I grew up a Dallas Cowboys fan.
- 1:50:16Speaker 7: Unfortunately for the last thirty years, I've just been miserable
- 1:50:19Speaker 7: my entire life. Yeah, but being here in North Carolina,
- 1:50:23Speaker 7: you know, obviously the Panthers are the team, even though
- 1:50:26Speaker 7: they're not really that good. But everyone's really passionate about
- 1:50:29Speaker 7: it down here, and I was wondering, do I brainwash
- 1:50:33Speaker 7: my child from an early age to be a Cowboys
- 1:50:36Speaker 7: fan and be ostracized by their peers like I was
- 1:50:39Speaker 7: growing up, or do I raise them to be a
- 1:50:43Speaker 7: Panthers fan despite their old man being a Cowboys fan,
- 1:50:47Speaker 7: but accepted by the peers. Would love to hear the vice.
- 1:50:50Speaker 7: Thanks guys, Love the Pod, peace out.
- 1:50:52Speaker 2: That's a tough question. It is a tough question because
- 1:50:55Speaker 2: if the kiddo's growing up in panther country.
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like there's just more respect for people
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: that grow up and their fans of their teams. What's
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: his name again, Ben Ben? I too was a Dallas
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: fan growing up. I forgot about that and doctorated by
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: my old man. Come on, and uh, I'm sure my
- 1:51:17Speaker 1: man been there. Cowboys, a lot of all their success
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: was really in the nineties. He's really hanging on to
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: goddamn it. If Romo would have just held that ball
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: down on the field goal, they would have beat Seattle.
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: Because I watched that too of my living room, just
- 1:51:33Speaker 1: jumping like yelling, because there's even a moment to where
- 1:51:36Speaker 1: Tony gets and he's running. He's like he's gonna get
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: the end zone. Yes, that's the last strong moment, right
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: Or is it DEAs Bryant with the one handed catch
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: against the pack.
- 1:51:45Speaker 2: Yeah, it's definitely it's the Packers game.
- 1:51:47Speaker 1: Those are the two moments that live in your head
- 1:51:49Speaker 1: as a Dallas fan for if you have some kind
- 1:51:51Speaker 1: of success either way, I think you're in a good spot.
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: Here's where I know you're in a good spot because
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: both teams are shitty they will be by the darkness,
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: which is what you want. Yeah, you think darkness is
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: your ad.
- 1:52:08Speaker 2: You think Jerry Jones is a problem as a cowboy's
- 1:52:14Speaker 2: hand growing up, and I'm anybody in this office would
- 1:52:18Speaker 2: tell you, Sherman saw a real Cowboys fan. Okay, I'll
- 1:52:21Speaker 2: take that. I grew up as a Cowboys fan, though,
- 1:52:23Speaker 2: and all they did was break my heart. However, it
- 1:52:28Speaker 2: was fun being a fan of the local team. That's
- 1:52:31Speaker 2: my only two cents.
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: Yeah, Like, because I always I didn't feel weird, but
- 1:52:35Speaker 1: it just I'm always asking why am I such a
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: Cowboys fans? Because my dad was a Cowboys fan with
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: his dad when there was like the Steel Curtain the
- 1:52:42Speaker 1: Dallas Cowboys going back and forth yep, and uh yeah
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: yeah the Steel Curtain, Yeah, Pittsburgh. And so that's how
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: I kind of grew up. I kind of grew up
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: in it, kind of just grew up a Dallas fan,
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: like in Missouri when everybody else it's like, I felt
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: like a fraudulent Rams fan when it was the greatest
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: show on turf and they're going to the super Bowl.
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: So yeah, that is a tough well, great question, great
- 1:53:04Speaker 1: question when that you're gonna have to figure out handle
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: on your own.
- 1:53:07Speaker 2: If I had to give an answer, I'd say go Panthers,
- 1:53:11Speaker 2: just because I loved like going to the game.
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: Said voicemail. For two reasons. One cat and I had this.
- 1:53:20Speaker 6: My fiance had this conversation about the Titans verse Steelers,
- 1:53:22Speaker 6: and I said, if my kid, where's Titans. He's not
- 1:53:25Speaker 6: my kid, not a bad Titan thing, just we're Steelers
- 1:53:27Speaker 6: fans too. I came in this morning, chef and beat
- 1:53:30Speaker 6: me in. I was like, hey, Chef, voicemails are in there.
- 1:53:32Speaker 6: We always go over them together. He goes, cool, I'll
- 1:53:34Speaker 6: check it out a couple of minutes. Good bye, here
- 1:53:36Speaker 6: fucking neither.
- 1:53:38Speaker 2: I love how I said, be a Panthers fan, and
- 1:53:45Speaker 2: please cut back to that camera to get his reaction.
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: As soon as I said, he goes what.
- 1:53:51Speaker 2: I like.
- 1:53:52Speaker 4: I have talk and shit too, and I'm a Titans fan.
- 1:53:55Speaker 4: We're all miserable, Yeah we are. My thing was my
- 1:53:59Speaker 4: things like, might as well make him a Cowboys fan.
- 1:54:01Speaker 4: I was indoctrinated. I was a Tennessee fan for you know,
- 1:54:05Speaker 4: we've had four decent we've had four good years.
- 1:54:09Speaker 1: I don't even know why.
- 1:54:09Speaker 2: I was about to stay decent. Yeah, I went through
- 1:54:12Speaker 2: shit my whole life.
- 1:54:13Speaker 4: I was made fun of being a Balls fan and
- 1:54:15Speaker 4: I lived in the state of Tennessee. That's how bad
- 1:54:17Speaker 4: we were. Oh, but I didn't have a choice. And
- 1:54:19Speaker 4: that's what you love about it.
- 1:54:21Speaker 2: Well, and there are those Cowboys fans and for any
- 1:54:23Speaker 2: Texans out there, they'll understand this. Bad buddies from San
- 1:54:27Speaker 2: Angelo that would they would drive up for every Dallas
- 1:54:30Speaker 2: Cowboys game. That's like a four or five hour drive.
- 1:54:33Speaker 2: They've drive up for every single one. And it's got
- 1:54:37Speaker 2: a really cool history. The Cowboys do have a really
- 1:54:39Speaker 2: cool history. I'm spoiled by it because geographically I was
- 1:54:42Speaker 2: born in DFW, so it was just kind of like, yeah,
- 1:54:45Speaker 2: that's my team. But did he say he grew he
- 1:54:48Speaker 2: grew up in It didn't sound like it because he
- 1:54:50Speaker 2: said he actually was ostracized by his peers being a
- 1:54:54Speaker 2: Cowboys fan, So it sounds more similar to you.
- 1:54:57Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a tough one, bro.
- 1:55:00Speaker 2: A tough one.
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: But it's kind of fun.
- 1:55:02Speaker 2: Like when you do get kiddo to Dallas and you
- 1:55:04Speaker 2: get him to Mecca and he gets to go to
- 1:55:06Speaker 2: Jerry's world, Like right, it's a cool spot.
- 1:55:09Speaker 1: Absolutely it's sick. Absolutely, And that's tough, man. Yeah, that's
- 1:55:13Speaker 1: tough because not like my dad went into any Dallas games.
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: He was just a Dallas Cowboys fan. Has he been
- 1:55:19Speaker 1: to a Dallas Well yeah, when he did, it was
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: when Washington played at Dallas. So he wasn't a Cowboys fan.
- 1:55:25Speaker 1: That's right. It was pretty easy for him. It hit
- 1:55:27Speaker 1: like his in his words, it was pretty easy for
- 1:55:30Speaker 1: him to just be on board with Washington and everything else. Yeah. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:55:34Speaker 1: that's a tough one, bro.
- 1:55:35Speaker 2: That is tough.
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like if he grew up there. Yeah, I
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: don't know. I don't know. And because you you could
- 1:55:44Speaker 1: have more moments with your kiddo going to Panthers games.
- 1:55:47Speaker 2: Yes, and I don't dude. So many people would be like, oh,
- 1:55:52Speaker 2: come on, Sherman. But I'm fine with being a fan
- 1:55:56Speaker 2: of a team and going and supporting the local team.
- 1:55:59Speaker 2: I've been right right, I've been to three Titans games.
- 1:56:02Speaker 2: Warn of Titans Jersey.
- 1:56:04Speaker 1: I love it.
- 1:56:05Speaker 2: Am I a Titans fan though, But I have fun
- 1:56:09Speaker 2: going to the games and cheering on the Titans and wanting.
- 1:56:12Speaker 1: Them to win. Maybe that's the game you play. You
- 1:56:15Speaker 1: just you know, your old man is a massive Dallas fan. Yeah,
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: you're not fully trying to ostracize him. They're letting you like,
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: you know, you're taking them to Carolina, you're taking them
- 1:56:25Speaker 1: to the Panthers games, or growing up, maybe they just
- 1:56:27Speaker 1: are a Panthers fan and they realize their old man's
- 1:56:30Speaker 1: just a sickle for Dallas. But there could be a
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: part of the it could be a part of the
- 1:56:33Speaker 1: kiddoh that just wants to be in the trenches with
- 1:56:36Speaker 1: you when you're worried about Dallas all the time.
- 1:56:38Speaker 2: Yeah, and you're not growing up in like DC or
- 1:56:41Speaker 2: like San Francisco.
- 1:56:42Speaker 4: I was about to say, if you're a pat, like,
- 1:56:44Speaker 4: it's not like you're in Wisconsin or Baltimore.
- 1:56:47Speaker 2: You're in Charlotte. Yeah, I love Charlotte, great city.
- 1:56:50Speaker 4: But it's not it's like a I agree with what
- 1:56:54Speaker 4: Sherm said on the NFL side, At least for me,
- 1:56:57Speaker 4: it's like unless you're in one of those cities that
- 1:56:59Speaker 4: it's like, you know, the history of the team. College
- 1:57:01Speaker 4: football is a different deal. In my book, college football
- 1:57:03Speaker 4: is if you're in conference, no outside of conference, like
- 1:57:09Speaker 4: I wear the I have a us USF shirt on.
- 1:57:11Speaker 4: Yeah that's fine, but It's like where I start to
- 1:57:15Speaker 4: go is like, Hey, we live in Mississippi, but I
- 1:57:17Speaker 4: grew up in Baton Rouge went to LSU. My son,
- 1:57:19Speaker 4: I'm thinking about not in doctrinated to be a Tiger
- 1:57:23Speaker 4: and he would be a rev instead.
- 1:57:25Speaker 1: That's insane. Yeah. Yeah, my kids are gonna be Huscar fans.
- 1:57:30Speaker 2: And we had Zach Brown. Uh he's the episode that
- 1:57:33Speaker 2: just dropped on Tuesday, and he was talking to He's
- 1:57:35Speaker 2: a major Bulldog fan. He's got a kid at UT
- 1:57:38Speaker 2: and a kid at Old miss He said, Georgia Tech,
- 1:57:41Speaker 2: Georgia Tech, Georgia Tech in Texas. Yes, sorry, I said,
- 1:57:46Speaker 2: U T. I have a bad habit of that. Uh
- 1:57:49Speaker 2: U T around here? Tennacly evolves Yeah, U T around here?
- 1:57:52Speaker 2: I learned about it differently here too. It's Tennessee University, Tennessee.
- 1:57:56Speaker 2: So sorry, U T.
- 1:57:57Speaker 1: Austin or otherwise known you Versity of Texas.
- 1:58:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I was it if I'm a bulldog and not
- 1:58:08Speaker 2: on her mind going to Georgia Tech. Your face too.
- 1:58:13Speaker 2: When he said that on the bus, you're like Georgia Tech.
- 1:58:17Speaker 1: He yelled it. He needed the he needed the bedtime story.
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: You raise him up. The bad guys and good guys,
- 1:58:23Speaker 1: and good guys are your team, and that's what we did.
- 1:58:25Speaker 2: If we're just gonna give this thing an answer, he
- 1:58:28Speaker 2: just needs to cook up a little bedtime I don't
- 1:58:30Speaker 2: know how old.
- 1:58:31Speaker 1: But again, he's trying to make the decision what should
- 1:58:34Speaker 1: he do? So he right now he's trying to figure
- 1:58:36Speaker 1: out who should the good guys be?
- 1:58:39Speaker 2: Just well, in that case, just make sure that the
- 1:58:41Speaker 2: bad guys if you're a sick o Dallas fan, the
- 1:58:43Speaker 2: bad guys are, you know, the Commanders, the forty Eagles,
- 1:58:47Speaker 2: giants hit all those things. And then uh yeah, and
- 1:58:53Speaker 2: then who's Carolina's rival?
- 1:58:55Speaker 1: I'm so sorry they're in the south of the Buccaneers Falcons. Yeah,
- 1:59:00Speaker 1: that's right. Saints.
- 1:59:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:59:04Speaker 1: That's a tough one. That's a tough question for Olsen man.
- 1:59:08Speaker 1: But see Olson. If I'm Olsen, I would say it's
- 1:59:12Speaker 1: Carolina because he played at Carolina. Yeah, he's a sicko
- 1:59:17Speaker 1: fan of Dallas, not knowing if he grew up in Texas.
- 1:59:20Speaker 1: That got, you know, ostracized in the Dallas community. Which
- 1:59:24Speaker 1: is a fun thing. And be fans of both.
- 1:59:26Speaker 2: Man, be fans of both, and maybe it's fun to
- 1:59:28Speaker 2: be ostracized. I know, I see an Eagles Giants game,
- 1:59:32Speaker 2: and I'll see in the stands at an Eagles game
- 1:59:35Speaker 2: just some Sikka sikos in Cowboys jerseys, like the Cowboys
- 1:59:39Speaker 2: aren't even playing and they're just there.
- 1:59:40Speaker 1: And Cowboys are definitely a much more fun like organization
- 1:59:43Speaker 1: and brand in general because of the history, the fund,
- 1:59:46Speaker 1: the America's team, even though they're not America's team right now.
- 1:59:50Speaker 1: Jerry Jones, you got the documentaries, you got a lot
- 1:59:52Speaker 1: more things to lean on to learn and grow fandom
- 1:59:55Speaker 1: in the Cowboys universe, and you do the Panthers.
- 1:59:58Speaker 2: Yes, And the bad side of that Cowboys fantdom is
- 2:00:01Speaker 2: I feel like there are a ton of Cowboys fans
- 2:00:03Speaker 2: that love putting on that star and living in Philly
- 2:00:07Speaker 2: and just walking into a Philly sports bar. Yeah, and
- 2:00:10Speaker 2: the chatters started happening and they're like, yeah, yeah.
- 2:00:14Speaker 1: We're talking way too much about this Carolina Dallas situation.
- 2:00:18Speaker 2: True, embrace them both. Embrace them both. Do we want
- 2:00:22Speaker 2: to move on to lesson of the week?
- 2:00:24Speaker 1: Would love to because we are times a ticken, times
- 2:00:26Speaker 1: a ticket times of ticken.
- 2:00:29Speaker 2: Do you do you want to start first? Or I
- 2:00:31Speaker 2: can start first, you go ahead. I don't really, I
- 2:00:33Speaker 2: don't really have one. I guess my my lesson is
- 2:00:35Speaker 2: living with your pain.
- 2:00:38Speaker 1: That's a good one.
- 2:00:38Speaker 2: Mine's quick. Mine comes from Mike Leach, one of my
- 2:00:43Speaker 2: favorite coaches. He has a book, Swing Your Sword, that
- 2:00:47Speaker 2: I've yet to read, and I really want to read it.
- 2:00:49Speaker 2: But here's a quote from legendary football coach Mike Leach.
- 2:00:53Speaker 2: It is swing your sword. Don't sit around waiting for
- 2:00:56Speaker 2: the perfect moment, because it's never going to come. You
- 2:00:59Speaker 2: have to live life with courage, cut through the clutter,
- 2:01:02Speaker 2: and chase the things that actually matter to you. Half
- 2:01:06Speaker 2: the people in the world are going to tell you
- 2:01:08Speaker 2: it can't be done, and the other half will be
- 2:01:11Speaker 2: too scared to try themselves. But that's not your problem.
- 2:01:15Speaker 2: Your problem is whether you've got the guts to keep
- 2:01:19Speaker 2: going when it's hard, to embrace adversity instead of running
- 2:01:23Speaker 2: from it, and to keep swinging no matter how messy
- 2:01:27Speaker 2: it gets. You don't win at life by being careful.
- 2:01:30Speaker 2: You win by going for it.
- 2:01:32Speaker 1: M very well said, I think there's a too good thing.
- 2:01:36Speaker 1: Two things that stand out to me with you reading
- 2:01:40Speaker 1: that one, I'm thinking about the comment we got earlier
- 2:01:42Speaker 1: from was it Jtar? Yeah, Jtar swinging the sword and
- 2:01:45Speaker 1: him swinging the sword and knowing that adversity is always
- 2:01:48Speaker 1: going to be there no matter what. It's truly up
- 2:01:50Speaker 1: to you. And I think the second thing that stood out,
- 2:01:54Speaker 1: like as a dad, you battle with conversation is all
- 2:02:00Speaker 1: the time with am I doing enough? Am I being enough?
- 2:02:05Speaker 1: Am I who I think I am? You hear a
- 2:02:07Speaker 1: lot of dad advice. You hear a lot of things
- 2:02:09Speaker 1: that your boys do or your boys say, whatever it is.
- 2:02:12Speaker 1: And it's like something that jumps out to me when
- 2:02:15Speaker 1: you read that is prioritizing, Like you can prioritize and
- 2:02:20Speaker 1: this is something that you constantly have to work on
- 2:02:24Speaker 1: as a dad because there'll be moments throughout the week
- 2:02:27Speaker 1: to where where whether guilt creeps in or I'm feeling like, man,
- 2:02:32Speaker 1: am I doing enough here? Am I doing enough there?
- 2:02:34Speaker 1: And it's like if I don't have it prioritized in
- 2:02:36Speaker 1: my life, then I'm never going to be intentional about
- 2:02:39Speaker 1: doing X, Y and Z, like bouncing work, being a husband,
- 2:02:45Speaker 1: a father, a friend, all those buckets that we constantly
- 2:02:49Speaker 1: talk about. It's like, find your priorities and swing your
- 2:02:56Speaker 1: sword from that lesson. Yes, because I was watching a
- 2:03:00Speaker 1: video and it was a dad basically talking like do
- 2:03:02Speaker 1: any other dads out there struggle with Like you're wanting
- 2:03:05Speaker 1: to provide and give them a life that they deserve.
- 2:03:08Speaker 1: Well at the same time, am I working so much
- 2:03:10Speaker 1: that I'm working? I'm working through years of such importance.
- 2:03:15Speaker 1: And I want to say his daughter was two, it's
- 2:03:17Speaker 1: like they're just they're developing and growing, and he doesn't
- 2:03:20Speaker 1: feel like he's missing moments. But it's more so do
- 2:03:23Speaker 1: I feel like I'm doing enough? And it's like those
- 2:03:24Speaker 1: conversations I feel like every dad has and it's just
- 2:03:27Speaker 1: such a good reminder to constantly think that way and
- 2:03:31Speaker 1: question yourself, but then directed towards prioritizing your yes. It's
- 2:03:37Speaker 1: basically things that you are going to say yes to
- 2:03:40Speaker 1: and anything that falls outside of those boundaries those are
- 2:03:43Speaker 1: easy nos for you. Yeah, It's been a big learning
- 2:03:46Speaker 1: curve in my life. It's something I'm still constantly trying
- 2:03:49Speaker 1: to work through. Like as we get new opportunities with
- 2:03:52Speaker 1: busting with the boys for the dads, the locker room,
- 2:03:55Speaker 1: the college, the NFL, the ESPN, and you know, we
- 2:03:59Speaker 1: get to do a lot of cool things and we're
- 2:04:01Speaker 1: getting a lot of cool opportunities, and again it's like
- 2:04:05Speaker 1: making a decision on if it falls out of this boundary,
- 2:04:08Speaker 1: it's got to be a no. A quick example is
- 2:04:11Speaker 1: like the other day, we're like run through guests that
- 2:04:13Speaker 1: we can have on the podcast for Busting with the Boys,
- 2:04:15Speaker 1: and this one was brought up and it was a
- 2:04:17Speaker 1: big time defensive player that hey, we could interview him
- 2:04:21Speaker 1: at six pm on Monday. And then we did the
- 2:04:23Speaker 1: team meeting and we did all that stuff, and then
- 2:04:25Speaker 1: afterwards I just told I told Clump, I'm like, hey,
- 2:04:28Speaker 1: the six pm interview on a Monday is a no.
- 2:04:31Speaker 1: And the thoughts of it is like, you know, are
- 2:04:33Speaker 1: you sure? It's like you know what that work capacity
- 2:04:36Speaker 1: or that work mind inside you is are you doing enough?
- 2:04:40Speaker 1: Like hey, if we want to push the boat in
- 2:04:42Speaker 1: the direction for the brand, And then I think to
- 2:04:44Speaker 1: myself the way I compartmentalize is, man, I had these boundaries.
- 2:04:47Speaker 1: If I'm going to be home in the afternoon on
- 2:04:49Speaker 1: Mondays and in the evenings, those are my yeses. Everything
- 2:04:53Speaker 1: else is a no. Yeah, it's an interview could be
- 2:04:56Speaker 1: an awesome one, but that's one where it's like you
- 2:04:58Speaker 1: got to stand strong and what your priorities are, because
- 2:05:01Speaker 1: my priority in that at that moment, on that particular
- 2:05:04Speaker 1: day is that priority is at home, and so it
- 2:05:07Speaker 1: has to be whether or not it's felt differently anywhere else.
- 2:05:11Speaker 1: It's like, man, interviews are gonna come and go, bro,
- 2:05:14Speaker 1: But if I'm wanting to be intentional about being at home,
- 2:05:16Speaker 1: especially during the football season, this is where the power
- 2:05:20Speaker 1: of no kicks in it falls outside of my standard
- 2:05:22Speaker 1: or outside of my boundary. It's this is why it's
- 2:05:25Speaker 1: a no. Yeah, so great lesson. Great quote. Yes, great quote.
- 2:05:31Speaker 2: Loved your addition to it. And the only addition I
- 2:05:35Speaker 2: would give is Mike Leach has also a great quote
- 2:05:39Speaker 2: about swinging your sword to add on to this is
