Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello, welcome back to Inside the Tape on Inside the Birds.
- 0:13Speaker 1: I'm Jeff Mosher with Adam Kaplan. And of course, we
- 0:15Speaker 1: have Greg Cosell to help us break down the tape
- 0:17Speaker 1: of the Eagles 24 to 22 win over the Commanders
- 0:21Speaker 1: in week one. In the last show, we did the offense.
- 0:24Speaker 1: In this show, we're going to do the defense. Vic Fangio,
- 0:27Speaker 1: the only guy on the field who was not a
- 0:29Speaker 1: new play caller, and he had a veteran defense there,
- 0:31Speaker 1: guys who are familiar with his scheme. But we did see, Greg,
- 0:34Speaker 1: the debut of Reek Woolen. We saw Jahad Campbell back
- 0:37Speaker 1: as a starter at linebacker. What was your general takeaway
- 0:42Speaker 1: from the Eagles, from watching the film of the Eagles defense?
- 0:45Speaker 2: You know, a couple of things I think they're going
- 0:46Speaker 2: to have to figure out. Number one, defensively, and this
- 0:50Speaker 2: is the hope is Grenard solves that when he's ready.
- 0:53Speaker 2: I don't know if he'll be ready this week, but
- 0:54Speaker 2: he'll be back. I assume shortly, if not this week
- 0:58Speaker 2: is they don't really have a pass rusher. So I
- 1:02Speaker 2: hate to say it, but, but things I noticed were
- 1:04Speaker 2: probably more along the lines of things I feel that were,
- 1:08Speaker 2: I guess they would be considered more negative than positive.
- 1:12Speaker 2: You know, I don't think they were playing a great
- 1:13Speaker 2: offense and the offense certainly has its own things to
- 1:16Speaker 2: figure out with a first time young play caller and
- 1:18Speaker 2: a quarterback who, say what you want, you know, is
- 1:21Speaker 2: coming back and didn't play much last year at all. And, and,
- 1:24Speaker 2: you know, didn't play in the preseason. I don't believe
- 1:27Speaker 2: if memory serves me correctly, or if he did, it
- 1:28Speaker 2: was minimal. So, you know, I thought, I thought that
- 1:34Speaker 2: Jalen Carter, I almost felt like he was non-existent in
- 1:38Speaker 2: this game. I mean, I know he blocked the extra point,
- 1:40Speaker 2: which turned out to be a big play, but I'm
- 1:41Speaker 2: talking about in the context of the defense. I mean,
- 1:43Speaker 2: there were times because the Eagles now have become a
- 1:46Speaker 2: stunt team, particularly with Jalek's hunt. So he's on the right,
- 1:51Speaker 2: and the Eagles line up Jalen Carter almost exclusively at
- 1:54Speaker 2: left defensive tackle. So what the Eagles do is they
- 1:57Speaker 2: have both TE and ET stunt concepts with Jalex Hunt.
- 2:02Speaker 2: And what the expectation is is that the center is
- 2:05Speaker 2: going to slide to Carter because he's theoretically their best
- 2:08Speaker 2: interior player. And that leaves open the A-gap. We saw
- 2:13Speaker 2: that last year at times. They had a sack of
- 2:15Speaker 2: Josh Allen last year. The exact thing happened with a stunt,
- 2:18Speaker 2: a TE stunt. Hunt was the looper, the center went
- 2:22Speaker 2: to Carter, and the A-gap was wide open. But in
- 2:25Speaker 2: this game, as the game progressed, because the commanders were
- 2:28Speaker 2: aware of it, they would start sliding the center to Hunt,
- 2:33Speaker 2: knowing that that's where the stunts are coming from, and
- 2:36Speaker 2: they don't want to open up the A-gap, and they'd
- 2:38Speaker 2: leave Cosme, the right guard, one-on-one with Carter, and he
- 2:42Speaker 2: stoned him more often than not. Wow, that's surprising. I
- 2:45Speaker 2: don't want to say it's a concern, like, oh, my God,
- 2:48Speaker 2: the guy can't play. But it just struck me as,
- 2:50Speaker 2: you know, hey, you have to be a factor in
- 2:53Speaker 2: those situations. And the other thing, I'm sorry, just one
- 2:56Speaker 2: more thing. We saw, and again, hopefully it's not a concern,
- 3:01Speaker 2: Cooper Dejean struggled in man coverage in this game mightily. And,
- 3:05Speaker 2: you know, he's a really good player. We're not going
- 3:08Speaker 2: to sit here and say he's no good, but he
- 3:09Speaker 2: struggled in man coverage in this game against both Williams,
- 3:12Speaker 2: the rookie, and Diggs, who's obviously just a pro and
- 3:15Speaker 2: knows how to run routes.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Right.
- 3:18Speaker 4: So, Greg, on your point about pass rush, because the
- 3:20Speaker 4: pressure rate was good in this game, but pressure rate,
- 3:22Speaker 4: everybody has their opinion on it. Was it more that
- 3:24Speaker 4: they couldn't finish or they just were out of place?
- 3:27Speaker 2: Like, what did you know? Pressure rate is kind of
- 3:29Speaker 2: an interesting stat, which and I'm being honest, I know
- 3:32Speaker 2: there's so many metrics that people do now and I'm
- 3:35Speaker 2: not saying they're wrong. So I hope people listening don't
- 3:37Speaker 2: think like, oh, you know, you're crazy. But pressure to
- 3:40Speaker 2: me is something I've got to see. You know, I
- 3:43Speaker 2: can't go by like a pressure rate statistic where people
- 3:47Speaker 2: say things like, well, if he's winning two and a
- 3:49Speaker 2: half yards with a quarterback, that's pressure. You know, I
- 3:51Speaker 2: don't know. I have to see those plays. You know,
- 3:54Speaker 2: it's just like with a quarterback. If a quarterback can
- 3:57Speaker 2: complete his motion cleanly at the NFL level, then that's
- 4:01Speaker 2: not pressure. If he completes it cleanly and gets hit after,
- 4:05Speaker 2: a lot of people think that's pressure. That's not pressure.
- 4:09Speaker 2: And I've learned from the Ron Jaworskis of the world,
- 4:11Speaker 2: you know, people who are obviously a lot smarter than
- 4:14Speaker 2: I am who played the position, you know, so I'm,
- 4:16Speaker 2: I'm always a leery when I see metrics about pressure rate.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Understood that.
- 4:21Speaker 2: And also Daniels is a guy that creates a lot
- 4:23Speaker 2: of his own pressure.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Right. He moves a lot. He moves into the, yeah,
- 4:28Speaker 1: he moves around a lot. Yeah. Hard to hold the
- 4:31Speaker 1: blocks up that long when he's moving.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. He moves around a lot when he doesn't
- 4:34Speaker 2: need to. Yeah. Yeah.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Adam and I did know, we said there were a
- 4:37Speaker 1: couple times where Daniel, especially on third and long, had
- 4:40Speaker 1: more time to throw than we're accustomed to see. And
- 4:42Speaker 1: not just because he was running, but because he was
- 4:44Speaker 1: in the pocket. And it just felt like they missed
- 4:48Speaker 1: Grenard and just didn't have their normal interior and exterior
- 4:51Speaker 1: edge burst that you would expect them to have.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Well, on a positive note, I will say that something
- 4:56Speaker 2: I thought was a little surprising in a good way
- 4:59Speaker 2: to me was I thought that Nolan Smith, for a
- 5:02Speaker 2: guy who's not big, had some good speed-to-power rushes against
- 5:05Speaker 2: the right tackle. And Connerly. And Connerly's a first-round pick
- 5:09Speaker 2: and obviously not a stiff. But, you know, for a guy,
- 5:13Speaker 2: he knows how to use his arm length. He knows
- 5:15Speaker 2: how to keep his legs clean to drive and keep
- 5:18Speaker 2: his legs churning. Now, is he going to just shove
- 5:21Speaker 2: guys back? No, but he moved them. He pushed them back.
- 5:25Speaker 2: That's good.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Final hand is good. Yeah.
- 5:29Speaker 1: How about the back end? Did you notice anything in
- 5:31Speaker 1: usage with Rick Wolin and Quinion Mitchell that might be different?
- 5:34Speaker 2: Yeah. And again, we'll see if this continues, but last
- 5:37Speaker 2: year we talked a lot about the fact that they
- 5:39Speaker 2: used Quinion Mitchell solely as the boundary corner. Certainly as
- 5:43Speaker 2: the year progressed, I assume there's been a change in
- 5:47Speaker 2: the corner approach. I doubt they just did it this game.
- 5:49Speaker 2: I assume they did it all through camp. Mitchell played
- 5:52Speaker 2: exclusively at right corner and Wolin played exclusively at left corner.
- 5:56Speaker 2: So yeah, we'll see if that, you know, continues, but
- 5:59Speaker 2: I imagine it would.
- 6:00Speaker 4: That's interesting. Quinnian Mitchell, Greg, you told us in the
- 6:05Speaker 4: pregame show that you, you talked to someone who had
- 6:06Speaker 4: granted Eagles tape and said he was the best corner
- 6:09Speaker 4: that this guy had seen on film. Yeah.
- 6:11Speaker 2: How did he look in this game? You know, again,
- 6:13Speaker 2: they weren't necessarily challenged a lot. Like we, you know,
- 6:16Speaker 2: Wolin wasn't challenged a lot. There was one deep ball
- 6:19Speaker 2: that he, you know, ran right with, I think it
- 6:21Speaker 2: was Deami Brown. Um, and then, uh, uh, Mitchell wasn't
- 6:26Speaker 2: really challenged a lot. You know, they did start to
- 6:28Speaker 2: play more man in the fourth quarter. And I thought
- 6:31Speaker 2: actually David Blogg did a really good job because he
- 6:34Speaker 2: ran a ton of crossers. You know, we force a
- 6:36Speaker 2: lot of these guys have to work through traffic. And
- 6:39Speaker 2: that's hard no matter what kind of corner you are.
- 6:41Speaker 2: You could be the best corner in the world and
- 6:42Speaker 2: you start having to run through traffic. And that's just hard.
- 6:46Speaker 2: But I don't think they were challenged in a strict sense, Adam,
- 6:49Speaker 2: where like the guys were throwing the ball outside and
- 6:51Speaker 2: they had to play, you know, man to man.
- 6:53Speaker 4: No, the one thing on that, look, McLaurin's a good player.
- 6:56Speaker 4: But after that, you know, they had Traylon Burks inactive.
- 7:00Speaker 4: Diggs is an older player. He's more of a possession guy.
- 7:02Speaker 4: They just didn't have anyone who can make a play downfield.
- 7:06Speaker 4: And then Conco got hurt. We should mention that. They
- 7:09Speaker 4: signed to be a playmaker. Jeff, they had a lot
- 7:12Speaker 4: of problems like that. Antonio Williams is going to be
- 7:15Speaker 4: a good player.
- 7:16Speaker 1: I know you liked him coming out of Clemson, Greg.
- 7:19Speaker 2: I really liked him coming out of Clemson.
- 7:21Speaker 4: A favorite of receiver coaches I spoke with. They're probably
- 7:23Speaker 4: the favorite slot receiver.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Yeah, he was very refined as a receiver coming out
- 7:27Speaker 2: of Clemson. He's probably a slot. I mean, obviously the
- 7:30Speaker 2: way offenses are run today, people move guys around. He's
- 7:34Speaker 2: not going to be a boundary X, but he just
- 7:37Speaker 2: knows how to run routes. I mean, you saw him.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Win against Dejean when he got the ball down to
- 7:42Speaker 2: the one yard line and they scored the touchdown with
- 7:44Speaker 2: cross key merit on the next play. You know, he
- 7:47Speaker 2: just knows he's, you know, he's really subtle for a
- 7:50Speaker 2: young player. Yep.

- 11:16Speaker 1: them know we sent you. All right, let's take a
- 11:18Speaker 1: look at a few things, as we always do on
- 11:20Speaker 1: the tape here, Greg. Some of the stuff we look
- 11:22Speaker 1: at just for the concept of what they're showing, and
- 11:25Speaker 1: I know you had noted that they were doing more stunting,
- 11:29Speaker 1: and it started pretty early on here. This is where
- 11:33Speaker 1: Jomo and Carter have a stunt early on in the
- 11:36Speaker 1: third and ten. Yeah, they had a bunch.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Of tackle-tackle stunts. And I think they'll do more of that.
- 11:40Speaker 2: By the way, a Joma played 48 snaps and Davis 34.
- 11:44Speaker 2: And again, very interesting. And I know, and Davis is
- 11:46Speaker 2: a great run defender, by the way, he had some
- 11:48Speaker 2: really good snaps. No question. He's a great run defender,
- 11:51Speaker 2: but he still doesn't play on third down. He did
- 11:53Speaker 2: not play on the final drive, except for one snap
- 11:56Speaker 2: when they got in the low red zone, but Joma
- 11:58Speaker 2: played the entire final red skin drive because Davis in
- 12:02Speaker 2: their mind, look, we're not, they're telling us, we don't
- 12:05Speaker 2: have to make this up guys. They're telling us he's
- 12:08Speaker 2: not a pass rusher.
- 12:10Speaker 3: Right.
- 12:10Speaker 2: And, you know, they paid him a lot of money.
- 12:12Speaker 2: And in the Vic Fangio scheme, tackles are critical, as
- 12:15Speaker 2: we've discussed before. And he is a big time run defender.
- 12:18Speaker 2: There's no getting around that. But still, they will not
- 12:21Speaker 2: use him yet as a pass rusher.
- 12:23Speaker 1: And they still gave him a pretty good sizable contract
- 12:25Speaker 1: just to play mostly two downs, which is, you know,
- 12:27Speaker 1: really interesting.
- 12:28Speaker 2: I mean, it's interesting in the first game of the
- 12:30Speaker 2: year that Jomo played 14 more snaps.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure.
- 12:34Speaker 2: All right.
- 12:35Speaker 1: So this is let's diagnose the stunt concept that you
- 12:38Speaker 1: noticed here. Yeah.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Yeah, they've run a lot of these TT stunts. I'm
- 12:43Speaker 2: trying to remember what this one is. I think that
- 12:44Speaker 2: a Jomo on this one is the penetrator and Carter
- 12:47Speaker 2: is the looper, if I'm not mistaken.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Yeah, it almost looks like they kind of ran into
- 12:51Speaker 1: each other a little bit.
- 12:52Speaker 2: The timing of it was off because you don't want
- 12:54Speaker 2: Carter to have to sort of do a dance step
- 12:56Speaker 2: to get around him. You want him to be able
- 12:59Speaker 2: to really come around him with some juice and then
- 13:02Speaker 2: generate some speed and velocity on his way to the quarterback. So, yeah,
- 13:06Speaker 2: that one didn't work quite as well, but it's clearly
- 13:08Speaker 2: part of what they're going to do.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Right, and that's why I just wanted to– we'll say
- 13:12Speaker 1: it doesn't matter. Yes, Washington completed the pass. We were
- 13:14Speaker 1: looking more.
- 13:15Speaker 2: At the– The TT stunt.
- 13:18Speaker 1: The TT stunt concept that we're going to see quite
- 13:20Speaker 1: a bit there. Yeah, they just ran into each other
- 13:23Speaker 1: in the middle.
- 13:24Speaker 4: They were a high stunt team. Real quick, they were
- 13:25Speaker 4: a high stunt team last year, Greg, weren't they, Eagles?
- 13:28Speaker 2: Not super high, but, I mean, they started to do
- 13:30Speaker 2: more of it later in the season. Because, you know,
- 13:32Speaker 2: you have to generate pressure, and they don't have a
- 13:34Speaker 2: guy– You know, they don't have a guy. I mean,
- 13:37Speaker 2: that's why they traded for Garnard. Right, it's Garnard. Yeah,
- 13:40Speaker 2: they don't have a guy. I mean, they're hoping Jalex
- 13:42Speaker 2: Hunt can become that, you know, and maybe he will.
- 13:44Speaker 2: We don't know the answer to that. But, you know,
- 13:46Speaker 2: they obviously traded for Garnard for a reason. For sure.
- 13:49Speaker 2: Because right now they don't have a guy.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Yep.
- 13:52Speaker 2: As you mentioned.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Generating pressure. Vic, I believe, blitzed at about a 22% clip,
- 13:56Speaker 1: like something like 8 out of 35.
- 13:57Speaker 2: Well, this was the overload. This was their only snap
- 14:01Speaker 2: of zero, and they overloaded the pressure from the boundary side,
- 14:05Speaker 2: and Dejean got in clean, and they forced Daniels to
- 14:09Speaker 2: have to throw it early up top to, I think
- 14:12Speaker 2: it was Damian Brown, if I'm not mistaken. Yeah, he
- 14:15Speaker 2: was covered well. And Wallen was covering him because, as
- 14:17Speaker 2: I said, he played left corner. So, yeah, this was
- 14:19Speaker 2: their only snap of zero. They didn't blitz a ton
- 14:23Speaker 2: in this game. They had a number of sim pressures,
- 14:24Speaker 2: four-man pressures, where a linebacker added in as the fourth
- 14:27Speaker 2: and they would drop out of D-alignment, but they did
- 14:30Speaker 2: not have many five-man pressures.
- 14:31Speaker 4: It's funny because there's some stat services that have Eagles
- 14:34Speaker 4: blitzing higher, but I know you've had disagreements on how
- 14:39Speaker 4: you grade whether that's a blitz or blitzes or not.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Well, different teams also categorize sim pressures differently. Some might
- 14:45Speaker 2: call it a blitz because it is a second-level defender
- 14:49Speaker 2: or sometimes a third-level defender. and other teams don't categorize
- 14:53Speaker 2: it as a blitz because it's still a four-man rush. Right, right. Yes.
- 14:57Speaker 1: So the Eagles, as you told us, sent five or more,
- 15:02Speaker 1: which is what people would call a blitz, on eight
- 15:04Speaker 1: of 35 dropbacks, which is about 23%, which is kind
- 15:08Speaker 1: of easy.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Including this one, which is the only snap of zero. Right.
- 15:11Speaker 2: By zero, I mean that you can see it right
- 15:14Speaker 2: where you froze it, that they're matching up man-to-man to
- 15:17Speaker 2: each of the four receivers that are going into routes,
- 15:19Speaker 2: and there's no– post safety, no free player. So this
- 15:23Speaker 2: is just pure man across the board. And that's the
- 15:26Speaker 2: definition of zero, right?
- 15:28Speaker 1: You're either in man coverage or you're blitzing. And, uh,
- 15:32Speaker 1: you know, I think they know based on the overload concept,
- 15:35Speaker 1: but Hey, that's okay.
- 15:37Speaker 2: And they know based on the overload concept, because someone
- 15:40Speaker 2: is responsible for the back in coverage, but they know
- 15:43Speaker 2: based on the pressure scheme, And the protection, because that's
- 15:47Speaker 2: what coaches do all week long, whether it's the line
- 15:49Speaker 2: coach or another assistant, they study every single protection concept
- 15:54Speaker 2: by a team and they know how they're going to
- 15:56Speaker 2: protect based on certain looks. So they know when they
- 15:59Speaker 2: overload like this, that the back, you know, has to
- 16:01Speaker 2: stay in. Now, let's say the back decided to immediately
- 16:04Speaker 2: swing out. My guess is that Dejean probably would have
- 16:08Speaker 2: not rushed and he probably would have Right.
- 16:12Speaker 5: Followed him.
- 16:13Speaker 2: You know, taking the back. Now, maybe he wouldn't have,
- 16:14Speaker 2: and they think that he can get there and still
- 16:16Speaker 2: prevent a throw. You never know how teams coach it.
- 16:19Speaker 2: But someone does have the back. Good pressure there.
- 16:22Speaker 1: You know, and it was interesting. We did talk about
- 16:24Speaker 1: without N'Kobe Dean, who was Vic's favorite guy to blitz
- 16:27Speaker 1: from a second level or use as a sim pressure,
- 16:30Speaker 1: who would he use? In this case, it was Cooper
- 16:33Speaker 1: to Gene. I think he sent Campbell a couple times, too,
- 16:37Speaker 1: on some sims. So he's kind of. He's in search
- 16:40Speaker 1: mode right now, trying to figure out what the best
- 16:41Speaker 1: thing to do is. That was a rare zero.
- 16:43Speaker 2: Well, because you've got to generate pressure on the quarterback.
- 16:45Speaker 2: I mean, somewhere along the line, you've got to speed
- 16:47Speaker 2: up the quarterback. It's not about sacks.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Right.
- 16:49Speaker 2: I mean, a great example was the game in Melbourne.
- 16:51Speaker 2: The 49ers had no sacks, okay? But they generated inside
- 16:55Speaker 2: pressure on Stafford all game and made him uncomfortable. Because
- 16:59Speaker 2: Stafford's a guy that's going to throw it. He's not
- 17:01Speaker 2: going to stand there and just– Got to move her.
- 17:03Speaker 2: But he was totally uncomfortable, and he made a lot
- 17:05Speaker 2: of errant throws because he just wasn't comfortable. So it's
- 17:08Speaker 2: not the sacks per se, but you've got to speed
- 17:10Speaker 2: up the quarterback. Sure. As Jaws would say, I hated
- 17:14Speaker 2: pressure up the middle. I hated it. He couldn't step
- 17:17Speaker 2: in and throw. Yeah. And you see it. I mean,
- 17:20Speaker 2: as much as you don't want to see it and
- 17:21Speaker 2: you want to keep your eyes, I mean, it's right there.
- 17:24Speaker 2: You can't help but see it. Yeah.
- 17:25Speaker 1: He's got to throw that ball. Woolen a little bit
- 17:29Speaker 1: on the back, but that's okay. We talked about the rookie, Williams.
- 17:34Speaker 1: from the slot here had a big 33-yard catch off
- 17:37Speaker 1: a flood.
- 17:38Speaker 2: Yeah, and this was a great example of the inability
- 17:40Speaker 2: to generate pressure because this was a long developing play.
- 17:44Speaker 2: This was essentially flood. We saw that when we did
- 17:46Speaker 2: the Eagles offense that they had flood and it was
- 17:49Speaker 2: all to the same side. Here it's flood and they're
- 17:51Speaker 2: bringing the intermediate route from opposite. This is a bitch
- 17:55Speaker 2: to defend. Because the receiver up top is the vertical.
- 17:59Speaker 2: He's the clear out. So he's taking the corner with him.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Then you get the back immediately into the flat. That's
- 18:05Speaker 2: where Bond's eyes go, okay? He's not looking at Williams,
- 18:09Speaker 2: who's coming from all the way on the other side.
- 18:11Speaker 2: So Williams runs all the way across the field. This
- 18:15Speaker 2: is technically a high low on Zach Bond. But there's
- 18:18Speaker 2: no way Bond is aware that Williams is going to
- 18:21Speaker 2: be behind him. because he's going to catch the ball
- 18:25Speaker 2: on a third part of the field. Campbell initially looks
- 18:29Speaker 2: to match him, and maybe people think, oh, Campbell blew it.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Campbell didn't blow it. Campbell's not responsible for outside the numbers,
- 18:36Speaker 2: which is where the ball is caught.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Yep.
- 18:42Speaker 2: It's really well designed. I remember the first time that
- 18:46Speaker 2: I can remember seeing Flood done like that, where the
- 18:49Speaker 2: receiver came all the way across the field. was Sean
- 18:52Speaker 2: Payton with the Saints back in, you know, like the 2008, 2009,
- 18:58Speaker 2: you know, because most people do flood, you know, it's
- 19:00Speaker 2: all on the same side.
- 19:01Speaker 1: Right.
- 19:02Speaker 2: You know, but when you bring someone all the way
- 19:04Speaker 2: across the field like that, you know, number one, you
- 19:06Speaker 2: got to protect. I mean, you got to protect.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Well, I remember when the 49ers came in here in
- 19:12Speaker 1: 2023 and kicked the teeth out of the Eagles that
- 19:14Speaker 1: we had a few flood concepts on tape that we
- 19:17Speaker 1: were showing, but I thought you brought the point of pressure.
- 19:21Speaker 1: I mean, when you bring a receiver all the way
- 19:24Speaker 1: across the field, you need to have protection for that
- 19:27Speaker 1: to happen. And the Eagles were not able to generate form.
- 19:29Speaker 2: There was nobody around him. Nobody around him.
- 19:32Speaker 3: Right.
- 19:33Speaker 1: The digs touchdown. How did this one unfold?
- 19:35Speaker 4: Yep.
- 19:36Speaker 2: Yeah. Here they're playing man coverage. It's empty. They're playing man.
- 19:40Speaker 2: The Eagles are in a loaded front. You can see
- 19:43Speaker 2: three defensive linemen to the right of the offensive center.
- 19:47Speaker 2: They're in man coverage all the way.
- 19:49Speaker 1: And.
- 19:50Speaker 2: It's, I think it's cover one. There'll be a free defender.
- 19:53Speaker 2: It'll be, I believe, is it Efton or McCoop? It
- 19:57Speaker 2: doesn't matter. It's a free defender. And basically they get
- 20:00Speaker 2: Diggs matched on Dijon. And with his short area quickness
- 20:03Speaker 2: and the way he sets them up, he just, this
- 20:06Speaker 2: play is designed for Diggs. Yep, right there. Because look
- 20:09Speaker 2: at the other two routes out of the bunch. One's
- 20:11Speaker 2: going into the corner up top, and the other's crossing
- 20:14Speaker 2: the field. This play is designed for digs. It's basically
- 20:18Speaker 2: like a back running an angle route. He's just doing
- 20:20Speaker 2: it from the line of scrimmage. Yep.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Turned into pitch and catch.
- 20:24Speaker 2: Yep.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Yeah, Dajin had a couple ones that he struggled with
- 20:28Speaker 1: in the game.
- 20:29Speaker 4: And he was pretty upfront about the way that he played.
- 20:34Speaker 1: It had to be better. All right, this last one, Greg,
- 20:37Speaker 1: is the two-point conversion that was failed. I got to admit,
- 20:40Speaker 1: I know we don't love to criticize play calls and
- 20:43Speaker 1: coaches because they all are doing it for a reason,
- 20:45Speaker 1: but your game's on the line and you're putting it
- 20:47Speaker 1: in the hands of a guy who barely touches the ball.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Yeah, and again, I'm not going to go there. I'm
- 20:51Speaker 2: just going to say that if Ojomo doesn't make this
- 20:53Speaker 2: great play, he walks into the end zone. So Ojomo just,
- 20:58Speaker 2: my guess is, you guys listen to the stuff after
- 21:01Speaker 2: the game, right? When guys talk, I don't. Yeah, yeah.
- 21:04Speaker 2: I think a Jomo saw Bates start to cross and
- 21:07Speaker 2: he thought, you know, and he followed him. He knew
- 21:10Speaker 2: that something was up because he was going to cross.
- 21:12Speaker 2: You know, he sees him now because look where Jomo
- 21:15Speaker 2: comes from. He spins off of that. Yeah.
- 21:18Speaker 1: I think what he said was he saw the pulling
- 21:20Speaker 1: lineman 76.
- 21:21Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 21:22Speaker 1: Something was up there.
- 21:23Speaker 2: It made him. Yeah. If he just stays where he is. Okay.
- 21:28Speaker 4: Yep.
- 21:28Speaker 2: It's a walk-in touchdown. Look at this. There's it's a
- 21:31Speaker 2: walk-in touchdown. Yeah. There's no one there.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Right.
- 21:34Speaker 2: So, I mean, we can rip the– it's easy to
- 21:36Speaker 2: rip the play call, but it's a walk-in touchdown.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Yep, that's fair.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Look, look, watch it from here.
- 21:40Speaker 1: Yeah, because he attacks upfield first, and then he sees
- 21:46Speaker 1: that line. I think it's the lineman that he saw first.
- 21:48Speaker 2: Maybe it's the lineman.
- 21:49Speaker 1: And then he's like, that must be for a reason.
- 21:51Speaker 4: See, he's– yeah, he saw– we also looked at Daniels
- 21:55Speaker 4: and the way that he was.
- 21:57Speaker 2: So, if a Jomo's not there and he's back where
- 21:59Speaker 2: he started, right, it's a walk-in. There's no one else there.
- 22:02Speaker 5: Right, he saw it.
- 22:04Speaker 2: So it's easy to rip the call, which I'm sure
- 22:06Speaker 2: everybody's doing. Oh yeah.
- 22:08Speaker 4: Commando fans are not happy.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Maybe it's the player that they're flipping it to. I mean,
- 22:12Speaker 1: I get it. He's the tight end. And if you
- 22:13Speaker 1: had somebody else offset there, maybe it's more of a key,
- 22:16Speaker 1: but yeah. But it was a great play by a
- 22:18Speaker 1: Jomo to come off that.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:21Speaker 1: Save the game. Hey, I'm somebody who likes to work out.
- 22:24Speaker 1: I get to the gym at least three times a week.
- 22:26Speaker 1: I try to focus on certain muscle groups, my arms,
- 22:29Speaker 1: my legs. And it used to be really frustrating for me.
- 22:32Speaker 1: to find jeans that fit someone like myself who likes
- 22:35Speaker 1: to work out. Sometimes those jeans can be awkward and
- 22:38Speaker 1: tight and you're sitting in a chair and you're constantly
- 22:41Speaker 1: pulling at your jeans, trying to get them to fit you.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Sometimes it feels like you have to buy jeans that
- 22:46Speaker 1: make you choose between your waist or your thighs. But
- 22:50Speaker 1: thankfully I found the perfect jean. It's different from all
- 22:54Speaker 1: other jean companies. especially for guys with athletic builds. They
- 22:57Speaker 1: actually let me move like a normal human being. I
- 23:00Speaker 1: can bend down and tie my shoes. I can squat
- 23:02Speaker 1: to pick up something without feeling restricted. I can actually
- 23:05Speaker 1: do a full squat, you know, bending down to pick
- 23:08Speaker 1: something up without feeling like I'm about to blow a scene.
- 23:11Speaker 1: You know, the old standard jean sizing, it wasn't designed
- 23:14Speaker 1: to fit guys who squat or deadlift, play sports, or
- 23:17Speaker 1: just do anything that actually builds your legs. But the
- 23:19Speaker 1: perfect jean is designed for just that, for guys who
- 23:23Speaker 1: like me. Perfect Gene has six fits. It includes the
- 23:26Speaker 1: athletic fit, the slim, the thick, and the thick thick.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Specifically built around the reality that legs and waist don't

- 24:04Speaker 1: I've always heard about creatine, but I wasn't really sure
- 24:08Speaker 1: about using creatine supplements until I did the research to
- 24:11Speaker 1: find out what it was really all about. That's when

- 26:24Speaker 1: So that's a look at the Eagles. So your overall takeaway,
- 26:26Speaker 1: is there some things to work on? the gene man
- 26:28Speaker 1: coverage got to get around and.
- 26:31Speaker 2: They didn't see if teams, and I know they played
- 26:33Speaker 2: Tennessee this week and they have all kinds of issues
- 26:35Speaker 2: and we'll end up talking about that in the pregame show, uh,
- 26:38Speaker 2: later in the week. But, um, uh, you know, so
- 26:41Speaker 2: Tennessee might not be, you know, a test case for
- 26:43Speaker 2: what the concerns are, but then they play the bears
- 26:46Speaker 2: the next week. And, you know, the bears amazingly enough,
- 26:49Speaker 2: I think they scored a few points on Sunday. So Now,
- 26:52Speaker 2: they won't score 59 against the Eagles, but still.
- 26:55Speaker 3: I would bet, and we all, even though we don't
- 26:57Speaker 3: hang out with him because he's not that kind of guy,
- 26:59Speaker 3: but I would bet that Coach Fangio was not thrilled
- 27:02Speaker 3: with this performance overall despite the victory.
- 27:06Speaker 1: I'm sure there's plenty for him to work on with
- 27:08Speaker 1: his crew. And again, you're right. We'll talk about that
- 27:11Speaker 1: Titans game on the Inside the Verge pregame show later
- 27:14Speaker 1: this week and into Saturday morning. Greg, thank you. Great
- 27:17Speaker 1: tape breakdown as usual. And that's going to do it
- 27:20Speaker 1: for this episode of Inside the Tape with Greg Cosell.
- 27:23Speaker 1: For Greg Cosell and Adam Kaplan, I'm Jeff Mosher. Again,
- 27:26Speaker 1: you've been watching Inside the Tape with Greg Cosell on
- 27:29Speaker 1: Inside the Birds.
