- 0:03Speaker 1: This is a podcast call twenty five Whists, Stop your
- 0:07Speaker 1: Playoffs and the Awaro whizz. So, yeah, it's too bad,
- 0:11Speaker 1: but what did you expect. It's a podcast called twenty
- 0:15Speaker 1: five Whistles twenty wine. Yeah, let's get the shows arre
- 0:21Speaker 1: all right? Coming up a little later on NFL Cornerback
- 0:24Speaker 1: Safety defensive Back, logan Ryan pretty Cool came to the studio,
- 0:29Speaker 1: sat for almost an hour where we talk about high
- 0:31Speaker 1: school recruiting his dad make him making a play offensive
- 0:34Speaker 1: line back in the early days, just so he knew
- 0:36Speaker 1: what it was like, getting drafted by Bill Belichick, the
- 0:40Speaker 1: Super Bowl rings, getting Tom Brady to sign something, all
- 0:44Speaker 1: that coming up in a little bit. You can follow
- 0:46Speaker 1: Logan on Twitter at Real Logan Ryan. I don't want
- 0:50Speaker 1: to pass off that too quickly. We'll come back to it,
- 0:52Speaker 1: but we got to get right to it, Kevin, let's
- 0:56Speaker 1: do this before we get sad. I want to get
- 0:58Speaker 1: happy being a Celtics fan. Game six tagged me through
- 1:02Speaker 1: it because wow, what up then and down then up.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Yeah, it's been a while since I felt like that
- 1:07Speaker 2: as a fan. And it went from the ultimate low
- 1:11Speaker 2: to the ultimate high in a matter of what point
- 1:13Speaker 2: two point four seconds? And I haven't. I mean, I
- 1:17Speaker 2: was talking about it a couple of days ago that
- 1:19Speaker 2: it compares to the whole Malcolm Butler, not necessarily because
- 1:21Speaker 2: Butler actually won Super Bowl, so that's different. But from
- 1:24Speaker 2: being dang, we're gonna lose this, our season's over. Is
- 1:27Speaker 2: like marsh score touchdown here, Yeah, this is it. You know,
- 1:30Speaker 2: the Falcons being up twenty five a half. Man, We're
- 1:33Speaker 2: gonna lose this game. But I mean, snap of a finger,
- 1:36Speaker 2: everything changes and you're freaking out and you're jumping up
- 1:39Speaker 2: and down and you're screaming and you're enjoying it. But
- 1:41Speaker 2: then you got to remind yourself the next day, you like,
- 1:43Speaker 2: dam we gotta win another one.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Whenever they watched back on the jumbo Tron because both
- 1:47Speaker 1: teams were watching it right after it happened, and you
- 1:49Speaker 1: see that the ball was out of his hands with
- 1:51Speaker 1: point one seconds left and Celtics went crazy. That was
- 1:53Speaker 1: an awesome thing to see.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Yeah, like, ah, so cool it was. It was amazing.
- 1:59Speaker 1: It was so cool, and you know what, they're for
- 2:00Speaker 1: sure gonna win Game seven because Game seven is back
- 2:02Speaker 1: in Boston. And then when I started to read things
- 2:04Speaker 1: like Miami, they didn't even book a flight back to
- 2:07Speaker 1: Miami after the game. They booked a flight to Denver.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Didn't even book a flight back to Florida. No, no, no,
- 2:14Speaker 1: They've already booked a flight after Game seven to go
- 2:16Speaker 1: to Denver to get ready for the Nuggets in Boston.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Game seven. You gotta feel good before the game starts,
- 2:26Speaker 1: at least, right, absolutely right?
- 2:29Speaker 2: Yeah? Better? But I will say, like I wasn't totally
- 2:32Speaker 2: confident yet.
- 2:33Speaker 1: They're an eight point favorite. I know.
- 2:35Speaker 2: That's how it was all serious except for one game.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Though, an eight point favorite. So it starts and Tatum
- 2:41Speaker 1: goes down first play, and that set the tone for them.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Not saying that's why they lost. Obviously they still should
- 2:49Speaker 2: have won. Jaden Brown is a whole different subject, but yeah,
- 2:52Speaker 2: first play kind of set the tone, and you could
- 2:53Speaker 2: tell kind of deflated their team a little bit, a
- 2:55Speaker 2: little energy. The crowd was still into it.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Tatum also had I know, fourteen points, eleven rebounds. Eleven
- 3:02Speaker 1: rebounds was big because he did have to change what
- 3:05Speaker 1: he was was. Then you want him scoring, you want
- 3:07Speaker 1: to be in that guy. He wasn't able to be
- 3:09Speaker 1: that guy, but he did turn into a guy that
- 3:13Speaker 1: was playing a bit of a different game. You just
- 3:14Speaker 1: need to Brown, You just need some of those other
- 3:16Speaker 1: guys to step up scoring wise.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Do you feel like that was like that? Was it
- 3:19Speaker 1: that when you need when browns your leading score? Yeah,
- 3:22Speaker 1: And our offense was just so like stagnant. It's just
- 3:24Speaker 1: we're just sitting around there jacking up three. Jalen Brown
- 3:27Speaker 1: would come down, drib the ball three times and jack
- 3:29Speaker 1: up a three from thirty five feet out.
- 3:30Speaker 2: There's no movement. They ran some zone that gave him trouble.
- 3:33Speaker 2: But it's like start penetrating the zone, getting in there
- 3:35Speaker 2: a little bit, then kick it out maybe and try
- 3:37Speaker 2: to jack up a three. But I think they show
- 3:39Speaker 2: what twenty percent from three, So it was awful.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Wes Spaulstraw, he will throw a zone on you for
- 3:43Speaker 1: like three possessions and right when you're starting to go okay,
- 3:47Speaker 1: we'll boom, he's back in man, Like he switched his
- 3:50Speaker 1: defense as quick. I was trying to think about x
- 3:52Speaker 1: Spolstra where it's just kind of his his story of
- 3:55Speaker 1: he went overseas to work on some basketball team and
- 3:58Speaker 1: like I don't remember the country what was called Algeria,
- 4:00Speaker 1: but wanted to get back in here at the States,
- 4:02Speaker 1: and so you know the old story about him going
- 4:04Speaker 1: to the tape room in Miami, that's what he did.
- 4:06Speaker 1: They wanted to build up it so he has what
- 4:07Speaker 1: he did. He sorted logging tapes, quickly moved his way up.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Freaking pat Riley retired. Spoilsh is like eleven, he gets
- 4:13Speaker 1: the head coaching job. I remember when he got that job too.
- 4:17Speaker 1: It's like it's basically Lebron's team.
- 4:18Speaker 2: He does not do much.
- 4:19Speaker 1: And I felt the same way.
- 4:20Speaker 2: I didn't think he was any good. I was like,
- 4:21Speaker 2: he's probably whatever, and then here we are a decade later,
- 4:23Speaker 2: I'm like, Okay, yeah, he's pretty damn good.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Yeah. Tatum forty two minutes, fourteen points, eleven rebounds, four assists.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Brown forty three minutes, nineteen points, eight rebounds, five assists.
- 4:31Speaker 1: But Tatum still played basically the whole game.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Yeah, and Jalen I think I had seven turnovers.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Not good. Really, Yeah, I can't even dri Derek White
- 4:38Speaker 1: thirty six minutes, eighteen points, he wrote from last game
- 4:41Speaker 1: the key stats from the Heat. Butler twenty eight points,
- 4:44Speaker 1: seven rebounds, six assists, three steals. But I tell you,
- 4:48Speaker 1: Kayla Martin, I'd never seen him play like that before.
- 4:52Speaker 1: I mean he just took over third quarter, first half
- 4:57Speaker 1: of the fourth quarter. He took it over until no
- 5:00Speaker 1: one needed to take it over anymore. They just needed
- 5:02Speaker 1: to play even Yeah, he was amazing. I got on
- 5:06Speaker 1: DraftKings and I was like, oh, you know what, because
- 5:08Speaker 1: the Celtics were down about eight, and I said, let
- 5:10Speaker 1: me go look at the line because I felt like
- 5:11Speaker 1: Celtics gonna make this close, and so I thought, if
- 5:14Speaker 1: it's not too much. It was the Heat minus four
- 5:15Speaker 1: and a half. And I was like, no way, I'm
- 5:17Speaker 1: touching that. No way I'm gonna bet that because I
- 5:20Speaker 1: don't think the Heat win the game by four points.
- 5:21Speaker 1: If they do, it'd be one or two. So I
- 5:23Speaker 1: stayed off of it, like idiot. Of course, so I
- 5:25Speaker 1: pick wrong all the time when it comes to the NBA.
- 5:28Speaker 1: I don't remember the final score. I remember one point.
- 5:29Speaker 1: It was twenty points.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it was nineteen. It was I turned
- 5:33Speaker 2: it off, you did, oh yeah, three minutes left they
- 5:36Speaker 2: were done by twenty. I was like, yep, I'm done.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Well. If I would have done that, I would have
- 5:39Speaker 1: turned it off, but I'd check on my phone anymore. Oh,
- 5:41Speaker 1: I just to make just to make sure I wasn't
- 5:42Speaker 1: missing it.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Great come back, but then do you turn it back
- 5:44Speaker 2: on if they do come back?
- 5:45Speaker 1: Oh yeah, okay, I sure do. Yeah. Martin had twenty
- 5:49Speaker 1: six points, ten rebounds, three assists. Band played forty three
- 5:51Speaker 1: minutes twelve points, ten rebounds, seven assists. I'm sorry, man, Yeah,
- 5:57Speaker 1: I didn't think that if it went seven and back
- 5:59Speaker 1: to Boston and that Miami would win. Yeah.
- 6:02Speaker 2: I don't think anybody did.
- 6:04Speaker 1: They tried to hand Jimmy Butler the trophy for the
- 6:05Speaker 1: Eastern Conference. Is that the bird trophy? Or is the
- 6:09Speaker 1: other one the Lair bird Trophy? Yeah, it's a it's
- 6:11Speaker 1: a bird one bird. And he was like, I want
- 6:13Speaker 1: touch that, I want touch the other. I'll touch the
- 6:15Speaker 1: later one. We get it.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Yeah, you think Kaylen Martin should have won it the MVP. Yeah, no,
- 6:22Speaker 2: he was so good, all serious.
- 6:23Speaker 1: He was, but he was so good in that, Yes
- 6:26Speaker 1: he was really good, but that nobody expected him to
- 6:29Speaker 1: be good, so he seemed to even better. Good point,
- 6:31Speaker 1: and you know, Butler consistently was really good. It had
- 6:38Speaker 1: to be. It had to be Jimmy Butler, and that
- 6:42Speaker 1: they kept showing the club of last year. When he
- 6:43Speaker 1: missed the three at end of the game, and he's
- 6:45Speaker 1: like something i'll paraphrase, all right, we'll be bigger and
- 6:49Speaker 1: better next year, the same spot. We're gonna do it.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Yeah, that crazy.
- 6:52Speaker 1: It's crazy, and the heroics of Jimmy Butler may be
- 6:56Speaker 1: lost if they don't win the title. If they win
- 6:59Speaker 1: the title, Jimmy Butler has elevated himself inside the consciousness
- 7:03Speaker 1: of even middle NBA fans. If you're just a casual
- 7:09Speaker 1: NBA fan, you're just starting to learn who Jimmy Butler is.
- 7:13Speaker 1: If you're a diehard, you've known. But if he wins
- 7:17Speaker 1: the title, like he goes up there, to people who
- 7:19Speaker 1: don't even follow basketball that much, we'll start to know
- 7:21Speaker 1: who Jimmy Butler is. But it's like Jokic too, right,
- 7:24Speaker 1: I think there are a lot of people that are
- 7:25Speaker 1: discovering how good he is now. Yeah, even after he
- 7:30Speaker 1: wont t too MVPs, because difference doesn't get If I don't
- 7:32Speaker 1: have Basketball Sunday ticket, I wouldn't be able to watch
- 7:34Speaker 1: his games for the most part.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I think even me as a basketball fan, I've
- 7:37Speaker 2: watched more Yokic than the playoffs and have probably the
- 7:40Speaker 2: last three years.
- 7:40Speaker 1: And again unless you had the package the NBA what's
- 7:45Speaker 1: it called league Pass? Thank you God dang. And I
- 7:50Speaker 1: watched probably most of his games this season, not most,
- 7:53Speaker 1: but most of the games that I watched from him
- 7:55Speaker 1: were whenever the MBID the Jokic race was heating up,
- 7:59Speaker 1: and it was he was the leader for the MVP
- 8:02Speaker 1: and people were fighting for embeid, and so I was like,
- 8:05Speaker 1: let me just watch more Yokice. I was just like,
- 8:08Speaker 1: this is crazy, Like he's just toying like a cat,
- 8:11Speaker 1: toying with Mount Mice whatever way you wanted to. Yeah,
- 8:14Speaker 1: so I'm sorry I started Celtics, didnt went for you.
- 8:16Speaker 1: I was rooting for him, for you.
- 8:17Speaker 2: I know, I appreciate that. Thank you.
- 8:19Speaker 1: There is something something to say for you, though, in
- 8:22Speaker 1: the death of your Celtics again, is that you don't
- 8:26Speaker 1: really know a lot of defeat and you still don't.
- 8:31Speaker 1: You lost games ever of these comments finals, I don't
- 8:33Speaker 1: feel sorry for you. Just turn this crap off. I
- 8:34Speaker 1: don't feel sorry for you. You have teams that win
- 8:37Speaker 1: all the time, so screw it. I don't feel sorry
- 8:39Speaker 1: for you. But your losses are almost winning the championships.
- 8:42Speaker 1: My losses are finishing next to last in the SEC West,
- 8:46Speaker 1: or winning seventy games out of one hundred and sixty
- 8:51Speaker 1: two as a Cubs fan, or so, I ain't doing it.
- 8:54Speaker 1: You've won plenty of titles with the Patriots, the Celtics
- 8:57Speaker 1: have been awesome in your lifetime. The obviously the you're
- 9:02Speaker 1: Beer Bruins fan, right, yeah, not a huge one, but yeah,
- 9:04Speaker 1: yeah fan enough. Yeah, I mean the Red Sox, Yeah, Reds.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Don't e get me started on the Red Sox. I
- 9:10Speaker 1: know now it's on the baseball you know what. I'm
- 9:11Speaker 1: glad you lost, now that I think about it. All right,
- 9:15Speaker 1: well we hit that first. Let's go to the tittle
- 9:17Speaker 1: tattle stupid his name ever kissed the tittle tattle Let's.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Well, last night wasn't one of them. But what is
- 9:29Speaker 2: your most memorable Game seven of any sport?
- 9:31Speaker 1: Ooh, that's a good question. Now, I mentioned the Cubs earlier.
- 9:36Speaker 1: I went to Game two of this World Series. I
- 9:40Speaker 1: believe it was twenty sixteen, and what the game two
- 9:42Speaker 1: or three? All I know is we got crushed. The
- 9:46Speaker 1: Cubs had been in world won World Series. It's nineteen
- 9:48Speaker 1: o eight. It was such a friendly, yet uncomfortably packed environment.
- 9:55Speaker 1: It was awesome. We got what by the Indians, Game two,
- 9:58Speaker 1: Game three, Game four, Game five, Game six, We're going
- 10:01Speaker 1: to Game seven, baby, and I'm like, oh my god,
- 10:03Speaker 1: it's the same night as a CMAS. And it was
- 10:05Speaker 1: the first or second time they had ever asked me
- 10:07Speaker 1: to come on the show and present on the CMAS.
- 10:09Speaker 1: So you're talking about I'd only been in Nashville for
- 10:11Speaker 1: a couple of years twenty sixteen, right, yeah, and now
- 10:15Speaker 1: they're invited me to come be a presenter on the CMAS.
- 10:18Speaker 1: And I didn't do it because I wanted to stay
- 10:20Speaker 1: home and watch Game seven. Love it a team that
- 10:22Speaker 1: I had just spent hours and hours and days and
- 10:25Speaker 1: days and years and years following religiously, and they won
- 10:29Speaker 1: the World Series. It was awesome. And if I remember correctly,
- 10:33Speaker 1: it was the one that was delayed because it rained.
- 10:38Speaker 1: It kept getting delayed, and that could be that could
- 10:40Speaker 1: have been Game six. Things are fuzzy at this point,
- 10:42Speaker 1: but I almost felt like that was Game seven. And
- 10:45Speaker 1: I passed up an opportunity to present on network television
- 10:47Speaker 1: for the first time, a really big cool thing to
- 10:49Speaker 1: watch the Cubs win Game seven, and it was freaking fantastic.
- 10:53Speaker 1: What are you seeing over there.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Seated at a tenth inning okay, seventeen minute rain delay? Yeah,
- 11:00Speaker 2: and oh that's right, and yes.
- 11:03Speaker 1: It's awesome. That's what that's my answer. That was good.
- 11:06Speaker 1: You know, that's the only one I'm gonna go with.
- 11:09Speaker 1: I'm good on that one.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Next question, okay, next one is where does Derek White's will?
- 11:12Speaker 2: Not it's not as big because they lost, but where
- 11:14Speaker 2: does his shot?
- 11:15Speaker 1: That's true. Do you know how much of a hero
- 11:18Speaker 1: he would have been had they won the title this year?
- 11:20Speaker 1: And think about that, he also lost out on a lot,
- 11:24Speaker 1: not just the series, but if they'd won the title,
- 11:27Speaker 1: that putback would have made him like Boston Royalty.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Yeah, like the Larry Birds sealing the ball and giving
- 11:33Speaker 2: it to Halichik.
- 11:34Speaker 1: I believe that. Yeah, I know the play. I don't
- 11:38Speaker 1: know who he gave it to. I don't know if
- 11:39Speaker 1: it's Halichick. I don't think it. I think Halichick black
- 11:42Speaker 1: and white time, But I don't want to say, because
- 11:43Speaker 1: you're a Boston fan, I think Halichack' Like Wizard of Oz.
- 11:46Speaker 1: First part of Wizard of Oz was black and white.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Can we cut this out?
- 11:51Speaker 1: So the question is game winning shots the Kawhi shot
- 11:55Speaker 1: like seven and six ers that that was the like
- 11:57Speaker 1: Eastern Conference Finals though from the court like the top,
- 12:00Speaker 1: like almost a corner. That is a crazy shot. And
- 12:04Speaker 1: I remember just watching the people in Toronto who are
- 12:07Speaker 1: watching it on that screen outside of the arena. It
- 12:11Speaker 1: just erupting. That was a pretty good last second shot.
- 12:14Speaker 1: I mean, you can go Michael Jordan game six versus
- 12:19Speaker 1: the Jazz, which, by the way, I was in Utah
- 12:20Speaker 1: and we went by the arena there and my friend
- 12:23Speaker 1: who's one of the coaches the Utah softball team, he
- 12:25Speaker 1: was like, that's there is the arena. Jordan got sick
- 12:27Speaker 1: flu game?
- 12:28Speaker 2: Oh really this last weekend?
- 12:30Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, so that that was one too, So I
- 12:32Speaker 1: would put I still put Kawhi that There's just it.
- 12:36Speaker 1: I mean the poster of that shot wasn't even shooting.
- 12:39Speaker 1: It was him on the ground. He's like squatting, He's
- 12:41Speaker 1: like down. Yeah, it's crazy, all right.
- 12:43Speaker 2: Next with referee Eric Lewis of the NBA is under
- 12:45Speaker 2: investigation for potentially having a burner account on Twitter. So
- 12:49Speaker 2: I want to know what's your opinion on burner accounts?
- 12:51Speaker 2: Have you ever had one?
- 12:52Speaker 1: Well, this story is not as controversial as you think
- 12:55Speaker 1: it would be. Referees are not allowed to be on
- 12:58Speaker 1: social media as themselves, obviously there's some rules against it.
- 13:01Speaker 1: He's not giving away secrets. He literally was defending himself
- 13:04Speaker 1: and defending other referees and posting stats to go, you're
- 13:07Speaker 1: an idiot. This is what's really happening. If he's breaking
- 13:11Speaker 1: the rule, he's breaking the rule, and he should be
- 13:14Speaker 1: punished or fined or whatever the rule is. However, it's
- 13:16Speaker 1: not like he's letting people know any sort of secret
- 13:20Speaker 1: or tipping games or being affected that's affecting his job
- 13:23Speaker 1: as a referee. I didn't see any of that.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Did you No? No, you no.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Now, the difference is in the Colangelo when he was
- 13:30Speaker 1: running the seventy six ers and he was talking crap
- 13:32Speaker 1: about the team, and he's talking about crap about Embiid
- 13:36Speaker 1: and he's talking about from Twitter from burner accounts like
- 13:39Speaker 1: he's the general manager talking crap about players. That's different.
- 13:42Speaker 1: So me having a Burner account, Yes, but I can
- 13:47Speaker 1: never remember the log in. I'm gonna be honest with you.
- 13:51Speaker 1: I can never remember the logins. And I've set up
- 13:54Speaker 1: a couple and I'm so afraid of Kevin Duranton myself
- 13:58Speaker 1: where he thinks he's on a burner account and he's not,
- 14:00Speaker 1: and he's on his own and he's like, oh crap,
- 14:04Speaker 1: and then you by the time you delete it, someone's
- 14:05Speaker 1: already screenshoted it. So not a big burner account guy.
- 14:10Speaker 1: I would like to be, would would love it, would
- 14:12Speaker 1: love to just be firing shots of people. I just
- 14:14Speaker 1: I'm so in my head about posting and it's under
- 14:17Speaker 1: my name and now a burner account's name, So no,
- 14:19Speaker 1: I don't do it. I would like to do more
- 14:23Speaker 1: of it. I'm interested in growing in that part of
- 14:25Speaker 1: my life, but I'm not that learning more. All right,
- 14:27Speaker 1: go ahead.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Last one, we saw a major comeback with Boston being
- 14:30Speaker 2: down three forcing in Game seven. What's the hardest thing
- 14:33Speaker 2: you've ever had to overcome professionally?
- 14:35Speaker 1: Good question, Probably the million dollar fine by the FCC.
- 14:38Speaker 1: The FCC won't let me be so let me be
- 14:41Speaker 1: me on the bitty Uh. That's a tough one. No,
- 14:44Speaker 1: that's not gonna be the toughest. I guess suspend it
- 14:46Speaker 1: for that one. That was one where we kept doing
- 14:50Speaker 1: the show and we're just waiting for the fine. Then
- 14:52Speaker 1: when the fine came down in the million bucks. I
- 14:54Speaker 1: just kind of looked in my email. Okay, I'm still
- 14:57Speaker 1: doing the show. I'll just keep going. Probably when Lunchbox
- 15:04Speaker 1: went and robbed the store, he didn't rob the store.
- 15:08Speaker 1: I sent him to buy some gum with pantihos on
- 15:11Speaker 1: his head. A stupid bit. I'm not acting like it
- 15:13Speaker 1: was a good bit. We were like fourteenth Place too,
- 15:17Speaker 1: by the way, and he goes and he does the thing,
- 15:20Speaker 1: and they held him a gun point. They put him
- 15:21Speaker 1: in jail. They tried to arrest me. Then they were like, well,
- 15:23Speaker 1: we can't really arrest you didn't do anything, And I'm
- 15:25Speaker 1: like I know. Then they suspend all of us for
- 15:28Speaker 1: like two and a half weeks. I think I'm done.
- 15:32Speaker 1: I'm an idiot kid who was twenty three. Probably I
- 15:36Speaker 1: was like in magazines like hot Shot, like Phenom Radio personality,
- 15:42Speaker 1: does all boom suspend it. I was like, man, nobody
- 15:46Speaker 1: gives a crap about that phemale and stuff. If I'm fired,
- 15:48Speaker 1: I may never be in this. Came back on the air, apologized,
- 15:53Speaker 1: went to number one, never looked back for ten years.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Like it was hard. That was hard for that two
- 15:57Speaker 1: and a half weeks. Really hard to get back. So
- 16:01Speaker 1: that was a really hard one to kind of get
- 16:04Speaker 1: my feet back underneath me and feel confident and secure
- 16:07Speaker 1: in my job. But man, once we had number one,
- 16:08Speaker 1: it was on. We would never look back. And the
- 16:11Speaker 1: other thing was probably not knowing how to dance on
- 16:13Speaker 1: Dancing with the Stars, having no clue at all ever, ever,
- 16:16Speaker 1: even till the end. So overcome, it was week to
- 16:18Speaker 1: week overcoming how this week I was gonna find a
- 16:23Speaker 1: way to win, just this week and not going to
- 16:25Speaker 1: be the best, but just survive, just survive, just keep surviving,
- 16:28Speaker 1: just keep surviving, Just keep surviving. And then all right,
- 16:31Speaker 1: we made to the finals. Let's freaking go. So that
- 16:33Speaker 1: that was a tough one too. But I'm sorry. I'm
- 16:35Speaker 1: sorry your team lost.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Man, gosh, I almost forgot vers. I'm sorry your team lost.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Hey, let me say this, by the way, so these
- 16:42Speaker 1: go up on the Bobby Won Show page as well.
- 16:44Speaker 1: This would be the last time we put it up
- 16:45Speaker 1: on the Bobby bon Show page for a while, I
- 16:46Speaker 1: do believe. So go follow us on the twenty five
- 16:51Speaker 1: Whistles feed. We do put most of them. We have
- 16:53Speaker 1: to put most of them up, and a lot of
- 16:54Speaker 1: our listening is to people who want to hear this
- 16:56Speaker 1: and so they wait for it to pop up on
- 16:57Speaker 1: the Bobby Won Show page. If you're on that feed,
- 17:00Speaker 1: go subscribe twenty five whistles because if we do them,
- 17:01Speaker 1: when we do them, they will not pop up on
- 17:03Speaker 1: this feed, at least not for a while for months probably,
- 17:06Speaker 1: So go check it out. Twenty five whistles follow on
- 17:09Speaker 1: that feed. Thank you very much. That's the tittle tattle.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Stupid names the tittle tattle, all right. Interview time. Two
- 17:19Speaker 1: times Super Bowl champion Logan Ryan. He came to the studio,
- 17:23Speaker 1: got to sit down in person talk about his life
- 17:25Speaker 1: and his career, going from a three star to a
- 17:27Speaker 1: four star recruit. What a freaking story. Yep, Wow, your
- 17:32Speaker 1: life changes like that and you didn't do anything. He
- 17:37Speaker 1: was like, just like that, playing quarterback in high school
- 17:40Speaker 1: but only getting recruit as an athlete, picking off Tom
- 17:43Speaker 1: Brady's final passes Patriot. Just it's great. Listen to it.
- 17:46Speaker 1: I don't want to waste your time, so we'll get
- 17:47Speaker 1: to it. You can follow Logan on Instagram at Logan Ryan.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Here he is Logan Ryan Logan. Where do you live? Like?
- 17:55Speaker 1: What town I live in? Currently in Tampa, Florida. So
- 17:59Speaker 1: what's up in Nashville, Like, we're lucky to have, first
- 18:01Speaker 1: of all, super pumped you're here. Yeah, but like what's here?
- 18:05Speaker 1: You're here? Yeah, that's true. I can agree with that.
- 18:08Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, you know, I was hosting Good Morning Football
- 18:11Speaker 3: last week and had a lot of fun doing that
- 18:14Speaker 3: and got some good, good feedback, and my publicist was
- 18:18Speaker 3: kind of working the phones a little bit and opportunity
- 18:22Speaker 3: coming to your podcast, which was awesome. And I used
- 18:24Speaker 3: to live here, so I lived here for three four years.
- 18:27Speaker 3: My content guys out here. I got a lot of
- 18:30Speaker 3: friends on the Titans. So I'm here knocking out some media.
- 18:33Speaker 3: I did hosted with Jonathan Hutton last yesterday on out Kick.
- 18:37Speaker 3: So I'm doing some more media while my name is
- 18:39Speaker 3: hot and hanging out with you.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Is that the goal? Because I know you probably want
- 18:42Speaker 1: to you a free agent. Yeah, you're waiting for the
- 18:45Speaker 1: call or you like, screw the call I'm getting. I'm
- 18:47Speaker 1: doing media because it's awesome either or.
- 18:50Speaker 3: You know, I'm still training six days a week, but
- 18:52Speaker 3: I'm taking advantage of the opportunities. And I've always you know,
- 18:55Speaker 3: when I was at Tennessee Titans, I hosted The Logan
- 18:57Speaker 3: Ryan Show, where I hosted a radio show for two
- 18:59Speaker 3: three years. The show in New York hosted the NFL
- 19:02Speaker 3: Player Podcast. I've always been like the speech before the
- 19:05Speaker 3: locker room guy.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Were you always that guy in high school too? Yeah?
- 19:10Speaker 3: I was a quarterback growing up, like and uh, growing
- 19:13Speaker 3: up my whole life. I was a point guard. I
- 19:15Speaker 3: was a quarterback. I was a pitcher, so I always
- 19:16Speaker 3: had the ball in my hands. I was always a
- 19:18Speaker 3: guy to inspire. I know, you know how a lot
- 19:21Speaker 3: of guys say, well, you know, I kind of lead
- 19:23Speaker 3: by my actions, not.
- 19:24Speaker 1: I like I do both. Yeah, I felt that, Yeah,
- 19:26Speaker 1: I lead by my words. At what age did you
- 19:28Speaker 1: start to be because let's see, like in ninth grade,
- 19:31Speaker 1: I'm not the athlete or I'm not comparing that, but
- 19:33Speaker 1: I'm just going to tell you my story. In ninth grade,
- 19:35Speaker 1: I got to move out play with Senior high team
- 19:36Speaker 1: ten eleven twelfth graders, but I didn't say anything because
- 19:38Speaker 1: I'm the freaking ninth grader and I didn't play as
- 19:40Speaker 1: a ninth grader. Yeah, when did you start playing? And
- 19:43Speaker 1: when could you actually be a vocal leader in high school?
- 19:45Speaker 1: Because I'm imagining that you were far more athletic than
- 19:49Speaker 1: the other kids your age. Yeah.
- 19:50Speaker 3: So when I got to high school, I started varsity
- 19:53Speaker 3: basketball as a freshman, but I was on the freshman
- 19:56Speaker 3: football team, so I led my little, you know, freshman
- 20:00Speaker 3: teammates on the freshman games, but I wasn't on varsity
- 20:02Speaker 3: and in basketball, I kind of was the point guard.
- 20:05Speaker 3: But I mean, these kids, my brother was four years
- 20:08Speaker 3: older than My brother was a senior and I was
- 20:09Speaker 3: a freshman, and I was playing with his friends, and
- 20:11Speaker 3: I felt really little compared to them, Like I was
- 20:13Speaker 3: like I didn't have a voice.
- 20:14Speaker 1: I just ran the place. You were playing as like
- 20:16Speaker 1: a fourteen year old. Fifteen years old with eighteen year olds. Yeah,
- 20:19Speaker 1: that's it. You were. You as good as some of them.
- 20:23Speaker 1: I was definitely good enough to be on the court,
- 20:24Speaker 1: for sure. I wasn't.
- 20:25Speaker 3: I wasn't the best player at fourteen on our team. Yeah,
- 20:28Speaker 3: I knew that. But by you know, my sophomore junior year, Yeah, definitely,
- 20:35Speaker 3: so I kind of grew into it. I would say,
- 20:37Speaker 3: once that ball got in my hands and I realized
- 20:39Speaker 3: what we needed to win, and I wasn't afraid to
- 20:41Speaker 3: step up and demand that because I always wanted you know,
- 20:44Speaker 3: to win more than anything else.
- 20:45Speaker 1: I was watching The Redeemed Team on Netflix. I don't
- 20:47Speaker 1: know if you've seen it yet. It's about it's been
- 20:49Speaker 1: out for about a year, but you know, the US
- 20:51Speaker 1: Olympic basketball team got a bronze and they were embarrassed
- 20:54Speaker 1: and they had to somehow get a new coach, get
- 20:56Speaker 1: the players to commit in because to a lot of
- 20:59Speaker 1: those guys, I would get that, being twenty two and
- 21:01Speaker 1: rich and you just got and now they want you
- 21:02Speaker 1: to go train for months, and I would get why
- 21:05Speaker 1: some of them wouldn't want to do that. I watched that.
- 21:06Speaker 1: I loved it. Oh wasn't it awesome? Yeah? Man, I
- 21:08Speaker 1: got a Kobe tattoo on me.
- 21:10Speaker 3: They had to bring Kobe in that, you know, they
- 21:12Speaker 3: had to bring Kobe in it to really win that.
- 21:14Speaker 1: And that was my point about leadership. And I always
- 21:18Speaker 1: understood and respect to Kobe because in my mind's probably
- 21:21Speaker 1: the third greatest player of all time, top three for sure.
- 21:24Speaker 1: And the fact that the guys were, like we were
- 21:27Speaker 1: in Vegas. We went to the club, we did what
- 21:28Speaker 1: we put in Kobe's their gloves on going to the
- 21:31Speaker 1: gym when they're coming in and all those guys slowly
- 21:35Speaker 1: started to do what Kobe was doing because he was
- 21:39Speaker 1: doing it and he was that leader. Yeah. So you
- 21:43Speaker 1: say you were vocal and by example, were you like
- 21:46Speaker 1: first one in, last one out type guy.
- 21:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I kind of picked up that because I was
- 21:51Speaker 3: never I was always like one of the best athletes,
- 21:54Speaker 3: but there was always like a more physical freak on
- 21:56Speaker 3: the team. Like I wasn't like raw out of bed
- 21:58Speaker 3: better than everybody. I was like more skilled because I
- 22:01Speaker 3: worked on it. And I remember my mom would pick
- 22:04Speaker 3: me up in high school every day after work. My
- 22:06Speaker 3: mom worked at nine to five, nine to four thirty,
- 22:08Speaker 3: and she would pick me up at like five o'clock
- 22:10Speaker 3: five pm, and we would get out of high school
- 22:12Speaker 3: at like two two thirty. So in football season, obviously
- 22:16Speaker 3: had practice and my mom would pick me up. But
- 22:18Speaker 3: out of football basketball season, the spring, I had two
- 22:21Speaker 3: and a half hours to kill. You know, I wasn't
- 22:23Speaker 3: taking a bus home, so I was just literally every
- 22:26Speaker 3: day Monday through Friday in the weight room, five days
- 22:29Speaker 3: a week, lifting for an hour or two, going out
- 22:31Speaker 3: to the field doing just drills that I made up.
- 22:34Speaker 3: And then eventually more people came out there and I
- 22:37Speaker 3: would put a ladder drills down to a drill to drills.
- 22:39Speaker 1: And I was like pretty much donning the drills.
- 22:41Speaker 3: Yeah, so I was pretty much coming out with drills
- 22:43Speaker 3: that I would see on I mean, shoot, don't even
- 22:45Speaker 3: know if YouTube was out back then, but whatever I was,
- 22:47Speaker 3: I was just finding drills and doing them and doing this,
- 22:51Speaker 3: and that was kind of leadership, right, Like I'm doing
- 22:53Speaker 3: these these off season workouts, but I just was like
- 22:56Speaker 3: waiting for my mom to pick me up.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Did you have a good relationship with the coaches? Because
- 23:00Speaker 1: it sounds like you love the game games we can
- 23:02Speaker 1: say games, and you also weren't afraid to put work in.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Were you the guy that they would lean on high
- 23:07Speaker 1: school and college to go all right? You got to
- 23:09Speaker 1: be the voice to those guys, be my voice to them, right, Yeah?
- 23:13Speaker 3: I think so, Especially playing the quarterback position and stuff.
- 23:15Speaker 3: I just think there's certain positions in sports where you
- 23:18Speaker 3: expect the leader there and I kind of was that.
- 23:20Speaker 3: So I think it happened naturally mainly because of the
- 23:22Speaker 3: position I played. But I do remember like my junior sophomore,
- 23:26Speaker 3: junior year when I kind of was stepping in the
- 23:27Speaker 3: role as varsity quarterback and stuff. I was not great
- 23:32Speaker 3: at pregame speeches, Like I didn't want to talk and
- 23:34Speaker 3: I felt like a senior should talk, you know, before
- 23:36Speaker 3: the game. Like I was silent, and I would always
- 23:39Speaker 3: get really nervous before games. Still do, Like I always
- 23:41Speaker 3: get like a little bit nervous and tense, and I
- 23:43Speaker 3: just was really really quiet. And I feel like that
- 23:45Speaker 3: developed more in the NFL in college of having the
- 23:48Speaker 3: you know, taking public speaking classes and whatnot, just having
- 23:51Speaker 3: the confidence to go up in front of a room
- 23:53Speaker 3: of one hundred people and motivate them without feeling like,
- 23:58Speaker 3: you know, a clown or say something dumb or mess
- 24:00Speaker 3: it up, you know, be laughed at. And I just
- 24:02Speaker 3: think that came in older like giving actual the speech,
- 24:06Speaker 3: but actually just on the field, Yeah, when I'm playing
- 24:08Speaker 3: in between the lines, you had a leadership always came out.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Were you super educated on what was happening every game?
- 24:14Speaker 1: Put the time in the film room? Always? Was that
- 24:16Speaker 1: a priority? Or did you have to learn how to
- 24:18Speaker 1: did that later? I learned how to. I learned how
- 24:21Speaker 1: to do that later.
- 24:22Speaker 3: But growing up, my dad coached me when I was little,
- 24:25Speaker 3: uh maybe up till I don't know, ten eleven years old,
- 24:29Speaker 3: and every year, Like I said, I played, I played
- 24:32Speaker 3: offense and I played defense, so I didn't come off
- 24:35Speaker 3: the field. And I swear every year he made me
- 24:37Speaker 3: change positions. He's like, all right, well, last year receiver,
- 24:39Speaker 3: this year gonna play run out to learn. Yeah, and
- 24:41Speaker 3: then this year're gonna do this. And then we had
- 24:42Speaker 3: a really good team in like eighth grade, and we
- 24:45Speaker 3: went in literally we went like unscored upon, Like we
- 24:48Speaker 3: beat everybody thirty five to nothing and didn't give up
- 24:52Speaker 3: a point the entire season. And on that team, we
- 24:54Speaker 3: had like three NFL players in like six Division one
- 24:57Speaker 3: wrestlers out of like eleven starters.
- 24:58Speaker 1: Like none of us went to college for sports. So
- 25:00Speaker 1: it was a really good team.
- 25:01Speaker 3: But in the second half, my dad would make all
- 25:04Speaker 3: the skill players play O line and get the old
- 25:06Speaker 3: lineman the ball so that.
- 25:08Speaker 1: You know, we would block for them. Yeah, you know,
- 25:10Speaker 1: and I just felt like why are we doing this?
- 25:13Speaker 3: You know, But like I love my old lineman, you know,
- 25:16Speaker 3: I always treat them well, and I understood what it
- 25:19Speaker 3: was like to block. I played tight end, I played receiver,
- 25:21Speaker 3: I played running back, I played quarterback, I played corner,
- 25:24Speaker 3: I played safety, and really in the NFL really helped
- 25:27Speaker 3: my versatility because I learned the game from so many
- 25:29Speaker 3: different angles and even when I played defense in the NFL.
- 25:32Speaker 3: I think but from like a reverse quarterback perspective, like, Okay,
- 25:34Speaker 3: what is he reading? He's probably gonna throw this because
- 25:36Speaker 3: I'm showing him that.
- 25:37Speaker 1: It's like you're reverse engineering. Yeah what exactly you think
- 25:40Speaker 1: is about to happen? Yeah? Dang. So when you were
- 25:42Speaker 1: in high school you play quarterback? Did you were you
- 25:44Speaker 1: recruited as a quarterback?
- 25:46Speaker 3: So that was back before they wanted like, you know,
- 25:50Speaker 3: six foot black quarterbacks running around the NFL, Like that's
- 25:53Speaker 3: not the just the norm.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Now, did you feel like because you were six foot
- 25:56Speaker 1: black quarterback that was actually held against you? Well, they're
- 25:58Speaker 1: going to recruit you as an athlete.
- 25:59Speaker 3: So happens is like everybody like, like I would say,
- 26:03Speaker 3: half of you know, college football players probably played quarterback
- 26:07Speaker 3: when they were growing up because they're the best player
- 26:08Speaker 3: and they want the ball in their hands. But back then,
- 26:10Speaker 3: they was say you're going to be a receiver, or
- 26:12Speaker 3: you're gonna be a corner, or you're gonna be a safety.
- 26:15Speaker 3: So I knew like looking ahead, like yeah, IM probably
- 26:17Speaker 3: gonna end up being a corner and I played corner
- 26:19Speaker 3: as well, and I was ranked pretty high in New
- 26:21Speaker 3: Jersey for it, so I kind of knew already what
- 26:24Speaker 3: it was, but they did. You just didn't have the
- 26:27Speaker 3: opportunities division one to be like, oh, you're five eleven
- 26:30Speaker 3: and a half and you know you're a great athlete.
- 26:33Speaker 3: We're gonna make you play a different position, like quarterback
- 26:35Speaker 3: is for these type of guys. Six foot four, white,
- 26:38Speaker 3: two hundred and twenty five pound guys.
- 26:40Speaker 1: You know.
- 26:40Speaker 3: But now the NFL, as you see, has caught up
- 26:45Speaker 3: and Bryce Young, Yeah, Bryce Young is Kyler Murray's five nine, No,
- 26:49Speaker 3: these dudes. I I remember hosting the draft in Nashville
- 26:53Speaker 3: when they had the draft in Nashville a couple of
- 26:55Speaker 3: years ago, and I was actually working in media and
- 26:57Speaker 3: I was on the red carpet hosting these guys, and
- 26:59Speaker 3: I'm like, Quinn Williams, lift the mic up and DJ
- 27:03Speaker 3: DK Metcalf lift the mic way up, and like Kyler
- 27:06Speaker 3: Murray put the mic Like I'm like, this guy is little, I.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Mean little hands, little arms.
- 27:11Speaker 3: Yeah, but he's specially in his skill set and he
- 27:13Speaker 3: had to They never made him switch positions, but a
- 27:15Speaker 3: lot of a lot of us.
- 27:16Speaker 1: They They were like, I don't know if you're gonna
- 27:18Speaker 1: go to Division one and play What star were you recruit?
- 27:21Speaker 1: I was a four star recruit, and what is life
- 27:23Speaker 1: like as a four star recruit? Gotta be pretty yoah man,
- 27:27Speaker 1: it was. I mean, it's gonna be good.
- 27:28Speaker 3: So I was really a three star coming out and
- 27:32Speaker 3: for most of it, and then I think the ranking guy,
- 27:36Speaker 3: Rivals ranking guy comes to check out one of my
- 27:38Speaker 3: games my senior year, and I was already committed to Rutgers,
- 27:41Speaker 3: so I like had twenty five scholars.
- 27:43Speaker 1: And later safety or what at the time, were you
- 27:44Speaker 1: going to Rutgers to do? What? Though? I was going
- 27:46Speaker 1: to Rutgers to play corner.
- 27:47Speaker 3: Okay, I was a number one corner in Stay in
- 27:48Speaker 3: New Jersey, and I was like one of the better quarterbacks,
- 27:51Speaker 3: but I was a number one at that position. Got
- 27:53Speaker 3: him and I was a three star committed to Rutgers
- 27:57Speaker 3: verbally and all that stuff. And then we play We
- 28:01Speaker 3: play an opening game and he comes to see our
- 28:03Speaker 3: game play and I get a pick six, like on
- 28:05Speaker 3: the first possession of the game and literally reverse engineering.
- 28:10Speaker 3: The coach told me, if you see the quarterback roll out,
- 28:13Speaker 3: you know it's going to be a hitch a rout
- 28:15Speaker 3: in front of you, a route behind you. Just bait
- 28:16Speaker 3: the route behind you, and any time they roll out
- 28:18Speaker 3: there on the same play. So the first play the game,
- 28:20Speaker 3: I see the rollout, I see the route behind me.
- 28:22Speaker 3: I act like I'm going to go get the route
- 28:23Speaker 3: behind me, and I just bait him. He throws around
- 28:25Speaker 3: in front of me eighty yard pick six to start
- 28:27Speaker 3: my senior year. And that night I got a four
- 28:30Speaker 3: star right being four star. So what happens Notre Dame
- 28:36Speaker 3: calls me, Miami calls me, Penn State.
- 28:38Speaker 1: Calls from that that one star.
- 28:40Speaker 3: Oh, now he's this level of recruit and they're like, oh,
- 28:43Speaker 3: you don't want to go to Rutgers, come here, come there.
- 28:45Speaker 1: It's crazy that it wasn't some tape that it wasn't
- 28:48Speaker 1: like a library of tape on you that changed their mind.
- 28:51Speaker 1: It was literally a recruiting service. One guy who saw
- 28:53Speaker 1: one game.
- 28:54Speaker 3: Yeah and wow, and new colleges come. It's lazy. Recruiting
- 28:57Speaker 3: is lazy. What happens is a lot of states out
- 29:00Speaker 3: of state teams like Alabama is not going to come
- 29:02Speaker 3: to New Jersey unless one you're offered by your new
- 29:05Speaker 3: Jersey school.
- 29:06Speaker 1: So they're gonna let Rutgers do the work.
- 29:08Speaker 3: Once Rutgers does the work, all the other big Eiet
- 29:11Speaker 3: schools at the time, right, it was West Virginia, it
- 29:13Speaker 3: was whatever, They're like, Okay, this guy. Obviously Rutgers identified them.
- 29:16Speaker 3: So now your conference is going to start recruiting you,
- 29:19Speaker 3: and they start offering you. And then once your whole
- 29:21Speaker 3: conference offers you, and then you get that fourth star,
- 29:23Speaker 3: then you become a national recruit. Now coaches are jetting
- 29:26Speaker 3: to your field, your high school and landing on the
- 29:28Speaker 3: thing and trying to and that's why you see guys
- 29:30Speaker 3: flip recruitment. So I mean, now they're getting paid, but
- 29:32Speaker 3: they flip recruitment so much because one thing changed. Who
- 29:37Speaker 3: came that was cool, I would say, Greg Gianno, when
- 29:41Speaker 3: Rutgers recruited me, they put out all the stops. He
- 29:43Speaker 3: landed a helicopter on a local hospital, and so he
- 29:47Speaker 3: flew a helicopter in to see me. I think Iowa
- 29:52Speaker 3: was super dope. Michigan State was cool. But Rutgers. I
- 29:55Speaker 3: mean they sent people to my grandmother's funeral. My grandmother
- 29:58Speaker 3: passed away. They had people at the fun in a
- 30:00Speaker 3: role they were work, They had a Bible in front
- 30:02Speaker 3: of my mom. They won a whole different angle at
- 30:03Speaker 3: my dad. I mean they were they were pulling every
- 30:05Speaker 3: stop like to to get me to stay.
- 30:08Speaker 1: I feel like if I was on a jury or
- 30:09Speaker 1: if I was being recruited, I just flip all the time.
- 30:12Speaker 1: I'd be like, Oh, that's great, I'm here. Oh that's great. Guilty,
- 30:14Speaker 1: Oh no, not guilty Michigan State. I feel like I'll
- 30:17Speaker 1: be doing that like crazy because I'm sure everybody's giving
- 30:20Speaker 1: you their best effort. They're showing you that. Like you know,
- 30:22Speaker 1: Chris Rock talks about dating somebody knew and he's like,
- 30:25Speaker 1: you know, you don't really meet me, you meet my
- 30:26Speaker 1: representative when you you know, it's the early version, but
- 30:28Speaker 1: it's the best version of the school in every way.
- 30:30Speaker 1: Like aren't they all just awesome? When you do that?
- 30:32Speaker 3: They they like really recruit your parents. I came from
- 30:35Speaker 3: a two parent background, super solid. My dad was a cop,
- 30:38Speaker 3: was a cop. My mom worked, like I said, a
- 30:40Speaker 3: nine to five, So they really had my parents on lock.
- 30:43Speaker 3: But looking back at I'm like, man, I should have
- 30:45Speaker 3: took that official visit to Hawaii. That's a great flight,
- 30:47Speaker 3: great trip, should have went out there. Maybe I should
- 30:49Speaker 3: have took that NLV. That would have been a fun,
- 30:51Speaker 3: little vague we.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Should do on an official visit, like you Land. Yeah,
- 30:56Speaker 1: just a brief discris. I have no idea. You Land,
- 30:58Speaker 1: then what what happens? Who's who's there? What's the daylight?
- 31:01Speaker 3: So you Land, you'll be red carpeted, black car, picked up,
- 31:06Speaker 3: go to the school, all the coaches will be there, excited, balloons,
- 31:10Speaker 3: catered food. And then New York Rutgers. This whole pitch was,
- 31:15Speaker 3: we're gonna send you to New York. So you take
- 31:16Speaker 3: the train. In New York, they rent it out like
- 31:18Speaker 3: a Dave in Busters and like Times Square. So you're
- 31:20Speaker 3: in Times Square, You're like, gotta reunt it out David Busters.
- 31:23Speaker 3: You're playing games. They're talking like, yeah, you're gonna like
- 31:26Speaker 3: we have these mccordy twins and they're all right, but
- 31:28Speaker 3: you're gonna come in and you're gonna play over them
- 31:30Speaker 3: and the like all this. But I knew they were
- 31:32Speaker 3: on their way out. I was gonna fill in the
- 31:34Speaker 3: next shoes. But they're like, yeah, they're okay. But Jason McCarty,
- 31:37Speaker 3: this guy, I mean, you can't even get an interception.
- 31:39Speaker 3: Look at me here, you had six interceptions last year.
- 31:42Speaker 3: We need you, right, So they tell you what you
- 31:44Speaker 3: want to hear. And then we got back on the
- 31:46Speaker 3: train of Rutgers and the coaches leave, and then you're
- 31:48Speaker 3: paired with a player.
- 31:49Speaker 1: So I didn't have the mccordy twins I had.
- 31:52Speaker 3: I had a kid that was actually on my little
- 31:53Speaker 3: league team that I told you about that we like
- 31:55Speaker 3: went undefeated or whatever. So I knew him since we
- 31:58Speaker 3: were kids. So he kind of hosted me, and that's
- 32:00Speaker 3: your host, and they gave me by why they gave
- 32:02Speaker 3: you him right, right, because we knew each other. So
- 32:03Speaker 3: then so then I got one of my best friends
- 32:05Speaker 3: already there and he's like whatever. And then they gave
- 32:07Speaker 3: your host like a hundred bucks and he's supposed to
- 32:10Speaker 3: take you to a party and take you and he
- 32:13Speaker 3: was like, look, man, I'm keeping fifty of these bucks,
- 32:15Speaker 3: like you got fifty you know. So and then you know,
- 32:18Speaker 3: they try to show you girls and try to give
- 32:20Speaker 3: you a good night and then but the worst part
- 32:23Speaker 3: is when you're when you're a host, you have practice
- 32:27Speaker 3: the next day. I'm like, I'm not partying with this
- 32:29Speaker 3: freaking sixty year old kid, seventeen year old kid all
- 32:31Speaker 3: night and I gotta wake up at seven am and
- 32:33Speaker 3: run sprints like I kept that hundred bucks.
- 32:35Speaker 1: I bet some people do though. I bet they go
- 32:37Speaker 1: hard and then go to I mean it's just so Yeah,
- 32:39Speaker 1: when you're younger, you can do it. Yeah, so you
- 32:41Speaker 1: when you get to Rutgers. Is the speed of the
- 32:44Speaker 1: game so much different going high school to college or
- 32:47Speaker 1: college to the pros? When does it adjust so much
- 32:50Speaker 1: that you're like, okay, hold on, let me get you straight.
- 32:53Speaker 3: I think the speed of the game because everyone comes
- 32:56Speaker 3: from different high school. You come from from country school
- 32:58Speaker 3: where I mean you got eight on eight football whatever
- 33:01Speaker 3: in the middle of Nevada or something. But I think
- 33:04Speaker 3: the speed of the game is a bigger difference. I
- 33:06Speaker 3: think the coaching was a bigger difference for me because
- 33:08Speaker 3: Greg Sean was such a tough coach for me, and
- 33:11Speaker 3: I wasn't used to getting yelled at or just like
- 33:13Speaker 3: negativity shouting my way or getting cussed at like I
- 33:16Speaker 3: wasn't used to.
- 33:16Speaker 1: I'm like, whoa, this is kind of hard environment for
- 33:18Speaker 1: to thrive in.
- 33:20Speaker 3: So I think that was the biggest shock for me,
- 33:23Speaker 3: the speed and just the coaching, because as soon as
- 33:25Speaker 3: you commit and day one practice stars, all that recruitings
- 33:28Speaker 3: out the window, like now I own, and it really
- 33:31Speaker 3: felt like military. I feel like like a military academy.
- 33:33Speaker 3: It was that strict in discipline at Rutgers with him,
- 33:36Speaker 3: and you know, well, then I went to the NFL.
- 33:40Speaker 3: I came from that academy mindset, so like the discipline
- 33:43Speaker 3: was there, no one could do anything I haven't done already,
- 33:46Speaker 3: like I've been through tougher workout. So now now it's
- 33:49Speaker 3: all about execution and just skill, like we need you
- 33:52Speaker 3: here at your job to do it and use way more.
- 33:54Speaker 1: It's way more efficient. The first time you go to
- 33:57Speaker 1: a college practice and it's actually full pads, what does
- 34:00Speaker 1: that feel like?
- 34:01Speaker 3: Oh my, I have so many stories man, the first
- 34:04Speaker 3: college practice. So practice is based on what they call periods,
- 34:10Speaker 3: and they blow the whistle in a period five minutes.
- 34:12Speaker 3: So a practice could be I don't want to stay
- 34:15Speaker 3: here and get butchered on math. But a practice could
- 34:16Speaker 3: be twenty periods you do the math, or fifteen periods
- 34:19Speaker 3: or twelve or twenty four whatever, two hour practice whatever.
- 34:23Speaker 3: Our first practice was thirty six periods. It was like
- 34:26Speaker 3: over three hours It was in middle of July in
- 34:29Speaker 3: New Jersey.
- 34:30Speaker 1: It was really hot and human on the field. I
- 34:32Speaker 1: had brand new cleats.
- 34:33Speaker 3: When I was getting blisters, they made everyone tape your
- 34:35Speaker 3: ankles mandatory have to tape. I never taped my ankles before,
- 34:38Speaker 3: so my ankles were stiff, my cleat's hurt. And then
- 34:41Speaker 3: Giano had a rule you weren't allowed to take your
- 34:43Speaker 3: helmet off at any point in the practice, so I
- 34:45Speaker 3: couldn't even take my helmet off to get water. So
- 34:47Speaker 3: I had to get water through my helmet. And I
- 34:50Speaker 3: just was so just equipment, uncomfortable, not used to practicing
- 34:53Speaker 3: that long. It just was all like all the little
- 34:56Speaker 3: things I guess that you're just supposed to ignore that
- 34:58Speaker 3: I got don't even bother me. Now they all bother
- 35:00Speaker 3: me so much. Like at first, it was a huge adjustment.
- 35:03Speaker 1: When you're eighteen, you're hitting twenty two to twenty three
- 35:05Speaker 1: year old dudes. I assume that's physically a lot more
- 35:11Speaker 1: taxing on you than seventeen hit and eighteen, you know
- 35:13Speaker 1: high school like it's young, it's an older kid versus men.
- 35:17Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, Now it's a big jump. It's hard. If
- 35:20Speaker 3: you see guys that come in to college true freshmen
- 35:22Speaker 3: and dominate like that. That's tough because the physical aspect,
- 35:24Speaker 3: like these guys in college, you're lifting and running your
- 35:27Speaker 3: butt off like you are working. They're where ye had
- 35:30Speaker 3: nothing else to do. They're owning you. They work you.
- 35:32Speaker 3: So I came in one hundred and seventy five pounds.
- 35:35Speaker 3: I red shirted, so I was a number one corner
- 35:37Speaker 3: in the state, a four star going to Rutgers. That
- 35:38Speaker 3: wasn't the greatest school in that recruited me. So I'm
- 35:41Speaker 3: supposed to come in and be a savior type of thing,
- 35:43Speaker 3: replace the mccordy twins. And I red shirted like I
- 35:46Speaker 3: got crushed by all expectation pressure. And I came in
- 35:49Speaker 3: one hundred and seventy five pounds, and I was one
- 35:51Speaker 3: hundred and ninety five pounds in less than a year.
- 35:54Speaker 3: I put on twenty pounds of muscle. I couldn't even
- 35:56Speaker 3: dunk a basketball anymore because you had put on so much,
- 35:59Speaker 3: so much weight. I wasn't used to carrying that weight.
- 36:01Speaker 3: I'm one hundred and ninety four pounds at thirty two
- 36:03Speaker 3: years old. So in the last whatever fourteen to fifteen years,
- 36:07Speaker 3: I didn't gain one pounds, right, I just but I
- 36:10Speaker 3: put on twenty pounds in one year of muscle. I'm
- 36:12Speaker 3: squatting four hundred and fifty pounds. I'm power cleaning over
- 36:15Speaker 3: three hundred pounds, and that's what they want. Oh they
- 36:17Speaker 3: were lifting?
- 36:18Speaker 1: Yeah, And are your feelings hurt that you have to
- 36:20Speaker 1: red shirt? When did they tell you that? Or is
- 36:21Speaker 1: this something that that happens in game three when you
- 36:23Speaker 1: haven't played at all?
- 36:25Speaker 3: So I kind of like, I had like a little
- 36:27Speaker 3: back injury and just had a rough start to it,
- 36:30Speaker 3: and it kind of was like, Hey, you're either gonna
- 36:32Speaker 3: play special teams this year or we can red shirt you.
- 36:34Speaker 1: So I was like, yeah, I'm like I'm not going
- 36:36Speaker 1: to waste a year just playing special team. So I
- 36:38Speaker 1: red shirted.
- 36:38Speaker 3: But he Giano used to red shirt like the entire
- 36:41Speaker 3: classes because he won an older team. So I think
- 36:44Speaker 3: out of our true freshman class we had twenty five commits,
- 36:48Speaker 3: twenty five guys on four rides and not counting walk ons,
- 36:51Speaker 3: I would say he probably played four or five guys
- 36:53Speaker 3: twenty of us red shirted. He just wanted to backload
- 36:56Speaker 3: the whole roster like that, right, So now a senior
- 36:58Speaker 3: class or fifty year seniors twenty three years old. So
- 37:02Speaker 3: that just was like if you weren't a super phenomenal
- 37:06Speaker 3: right away, he was, you're gonna red shirt?
- 37:08Speaker 1: What year did you leave college?
- 37:10Speaker 3: So I actually left as a red shirt junior, So
- 37:12Speaker 3: I left early. I got it together and I took off.
- 37:15Speaker 1: So I left. So your red shirt year than your
- 37:17Speaker 1: two years I red shirted.
- 37:19Speaker 3: I had a red shirt freshman sophomore. Then I left
- 37:21Speaker 3: after I almost left after a red shirt sophomore year,
- 37:24Speaker 3: but I left after my red shirt junior.
- 37:25Speaker 1: It was my fourth year. So you go, and you
- 37:28Speaker 1: I was reading some of your because it still exists,
- 37:31Speaker 1: the draft stuff or like this is his peak, this
- 37:33Speaker 1: is what we think his ceiling is. This is who
- 37:35Speaker 1: did you ever read that stuff back then? Too?
- 37:37Speaker 3: I don't, I mean I don't, I don't know what
- 37:38Speaker 3: they wrote about me, but I can probably could tell
- 37:40Speaker 3: you what it was.
- 37:41Speaker 1: But yeah, so, I mean, so they would they do
- 37:46Speaker 1: compare a certain player compare they're like at his ceiling,
- 37:50Speaker 1: not quite Palamalu, but you know, and they're doing it. Yeah,
- 37:53Speaker 1: So who did they compare you to? In college? Just
- 37:55Speaker 1: when you would talk to folks and they'd be like oh,
- 37:57Speaker 1: we get to kind of see you being this type
- 37:58Speaker 1: of player in the NFL.
- 38:00Speaker 3: So I don't know if there was an exact like
- 38:02Speaker 3: ceiling comp that I knew in the NFL at the moment.
- 38:07Speaker 3: But my biggest thing is like I was super smart
- 38:10Speaker 3: and tough and productive, Like I had some of the
- 38:13Speaker 3: most productive stats, Like I was second in Biggie's history
- 38:17Speaker 3: in pass breakups, ahead of Devin mccordy, behind a Roll
- 38:19Speaker 3: ReBs By like a couple.
- 38:21Speaker 1: And do you think that's because of your athletic ability
- 38:23Speaker 1: or because you your instincts. Instincts and studying was so
- 38:27Speaker 1: good instincts and studying.
- 38:29Speaker 3: Once I figured out the game, I would say half
- 38:32Speaker 3: the time now in the NFL, I played plays over
- 38:34Speaker 3: players like I don't care, Like Julio's one of my
- 38:38Speaker 3: good friends.
- 38:39Speaker 1: I had to cover Julio in Super Bowl. I don't care,
- 38:41Speaker 1: it's Julio.
- 38:42Speaker 3: Julio only runs, Like can only run ten routes, and
- 38:45Speaker 3: once I figure out what they are, it can only
- 38:47Speaker 3: be three. So I'm gonna play these three routes right
- 38:49Speaker 3: based on situation and all that. So I'm paying the plays.
- 38:51Speaker 3: So at the end of the day, the quarterbacks got
- 38:53Speaker 3: thrown to a spot if I could figure out that
- 38:54Speaker 3: spot before you figure out this, or you know, cause
- 38:56Speaker 3: I don't know where you're going, I gotta do some mass.
- 38:58Speaker 3: So I always say I'm just playing high high stakes
- 39:01Speaker 3: blackjack out there.
- 39:02Speaker 1: Being such a cerebral guy, because again, that's the story
- 39:05Speaker 1: on you too, is that you were able to almost
- 39:07Speaker 1: predict chess moves before the chess move happened. Do you
- 39:09Speaker 1: ever think about coaching?
- 39:11Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, I get asked that a lot because
- 39:12Speaker 3: I definitely have. I have a memory where I almost
- 39:15Speaker 3: remember every game I playing in the place, and then
- 39:20Speaker 3: I think I do a decent job of explaining it
- 39:22Speaker 3: to the everyday person.
- 39:23Speaker 1: So that's why media is good in coaching.
- 39:25Speaker 3: I just don't like how many hours these coaches work,
- 39:29Speaker 3: Like it's very hard for a coach to have a
- 39:31Speaker 3: balance with any family life, Like they're.
- 39:33Speaker 1: Home at midnight all year round.
- 39:36Speaker 3: I mean, it's it's it's a crazy profession that doesn't
- 39:39Speaker 3: have any balance work life balance.
- 39:40Speaker 1: So right now not attractive to you. Would you go
- 39:42Speaker 1: coach college or NFL if you had to, I.
- 39:45Speaker 3: Would coach NFL or college because I don't want to
- 39:47Speaker 3: recruit on the road when you're off time at a
- 39:50Speaker 3: seventeen year old high school telling him it's going to
- 39:52Speaker 3: be better than Devin mccordy. You know, it's just like
- 39:55Speaker 3: I don't feel like doing that. I'm too real with kids.
- 39:58Speaker 3: I'm like, look, you're not good, but but we'll take you.
- 40:00Speaker 3: We'll probably make you good, but you're not. You know,
- 40:02Speaker 3: you got to earn everything here.
- 40:04Speaker 1: You're deciding to go, and you're gonna leave Rutgers are
- 40:06Speaker 1: gonna go to the NFL, and they kind of have
- 40:08Speaker 1: you pegged, as you know, late second third round pick,
- 40:12Speaker 1: and do you kind of have an idea of what
- 40:15Speaker 1: team will take you in that resent like four or
- 40:17Speaker 1: five teams or does everybody just act like they like
- 40:19Speaker 1: you until they got to make that decision.
- 40:21Speaker 3: Yeah, so I leave. I leave Rutgers. I got a
- 40:23Speaker 3: second They give you a draft grade if you want
- 40:25Speaker 3: to leave. Earlier gave me a second round draft grade.
- 40:27Speaker 3: So it's all going me depending like all my combine
- 40:29Speaker 3: but I wasn't a combine free who.
- 40:31Speaker 1: Gave you that grade? By the way, I don't know
- 40:33Speaker 1: get the official you submitted to some dudes who are
- 40:36Speaker 1: sitting in a room. So you go the second round.
- 40:38Speaker 3: I think they have to protect you because they want
- 40:40Speaker 3: to keep kids in school, so they give you a
- 40:42Speaker 3: lower grade because they don't want kids coming out, right.
- 40:43Speaker 3: They don't want to say you're on the first round
- 40:45Speaker 3: if you come out and then you slide a sixth round.
- 40:47Speaker 3: And I really pissed. So they gave me a second
- 40:49Speaker 3: round grade based on production. That's like, at worst, I'm
- 40:51Speaker 3: going in the second round. That's that's good money. So
- 40:54Speaker 3: Rutgers is like, no, don't go, You'll be a first
- 40:56Speaker 3: round next year. I'm like, I'm going I go to
- 40:58Speaker 3: the second round, all right. I start training and I'm
- 41:01Speaker 3: like one of those athletes I like, I play. I
- 41:03Speaker 3: can play baseball, I could play ping pong like, I
- 41:05Speaker 3: could play pickleball, like I can fish, I could play basketball.
- 41:08Speaker 3: I'm like an all around like a ball athlete. I
- 41:11Speaker 3: guess bowl I can bowl it over two hundred whatever.
- 41:13Speaker 3: There's guys that could literally not swing a baseball bat,
- 41:16Speaker 3: but they can jump forty four inches and stuff.
- 41:17Speaker 1: I'm not like that. So I had very mediocre numbers
- 41:20Speaker 1: at the Combine.
- 41:21Speaker 3: And obviously I was a junior, so I didn't have
- 41:23Speaker 3: the Senior Bowl or all that stuff to have more
- 41:25Speaker 3: opportunity to be seen. So I kind of was like, oh,
- 41:26Speaker 3: this guy just kept every time I look, I just slipped.
- 41:29Speaker 3: Someone did something at something that I wasn't even at,
- 41:31Speaker 3: and I slipped.
- 41:32Speaker 1: You weren't doing anything to slip. No, just because you
- 41:36Speaker 1: weren't able to do certain things.
- 41:37Speaker 3: Yeah, you leave as a junior. There is no Senior Bowl,
- 41:39Speaker 3: there is no so right, so I'm okay, I'm a junior.
- 41:42Speaker 3: All I have is the NFL Combine. As soon as
- 41:44Speaker 3: I ran a four or five, it was like, oh,
- 41:46Speaker 3: this guy ran who this guy out of nowhere who
- 41:48Speaker 3: has no numbers ran a four to three. Let's because
- 41:50Speaker 3: they're kind of sell a story at the combine too, right,
- 41:52Speaker 3: They want the biggest athletic freaks there. So I kind
- 41:55Speaker 3: of slipped. I went to the third round, New England.
- 41:59Speaker 3: New England came to Rutgers, and Rutgers had a lot
- 42:02Speaker 3: of guys at the time coming out and Bill Belichick
- 42:05Speaker 3: and this is actually another I got all these Belichick
- 42:07Speaker 3: stories that just keep coming out. So when you're in college,
- 42:12Speaker 3: there's local pro days. So in New Jersey, right like
- 42:17Speaker 3: the Jets and the Giants can work out the local
- 42:19Speaker 3: guys on their own day, and guys from all those
- 42:22Speaker 3: colleges in New Jersey can go do a local pro
- 42:24Speaker 3: day for the Jets and the Giants. So Bill Belichick
- 42:28Speaker 3: decides that he wants to come do a visit with
- 42:30Speaker 3: me on the day of the Jets local pro day.
- 42:33Speaker 1: So I'm not going to work out for the Jets.
- 42:35Speaker 3: The Patriots are coming to work me out privately, and
- 42:38Speaker 3: I think only two or three teams work me out privately.
- 42:40Speaker 1: Not only didn't invite.
- 42:41Speaker 3: Purpose for right right, not only did he invite me,
- 42:42Speaker 3: he invited about sixteen Rutgers players, so everybody, I mean,
- 42:47Speaker 3: I think we had seven guys get drafted that year.
- 42:48Speaker 3: We led the draft with players Me, Deron Harmon, Steve Bahrnis,
- 42:55Speaker 3: everybody that we had coming out. We had like eight
- 42:57Speaker 3: guys on defense, eight guys on offense. So it was
- 42:59Speaker 3: like a pretty much Patriot Pro Day the day that
- 43:01Speaker 3: was supposed to be the Jets Pro day. So Rex
- 43:03Speaker 3: Ryan and Jets were pissed because none of the Rutgers
- 43:05Speaker 3: players went to their pro day. They had like Mamath
- 43:07Speaker 3: players go and it was like, well, Bill came in
- 43:10Speaker 3: and said to do this, So I remember I did
- 43:13Speaker 3: the thing with Bill, but I called Devon because Devon's
- 43:17Speaker 3: one of my good friends and he was on the
- 43:18Speaker 3: Patriots already, was their captain. So I said, I need
- 43:20Speaker 3: all your drills. Give me all your warm up drills,
- 43:23Speaker 3: give me all your dB drills. What do you guys
- 43:24Speaker 3: do in a workout? So Devin sent me all their drills,
- 43:26Speaker 3: and I've been practicing with the guys for a week
- 43:29Speaker 3: because we knew what day this was coming. So our
- 43:32Speaker 3: entire secondary was practicing these drills for a week. So
- 43:35Speaker 3: when they come in, we crushed the workout. Then we
- 43:38Speaker 3: go to the film room and I'm like, oh, this
- 43:39Speaker 3: is what I do. I'm telling what the noseguard does.
- 43:42Speaker 3: I'm telling what all eleven players do on every defense.
- 43:44Speaker 3: So I knew I impressed Bill and then he ends
- 43:48Speaker 3: up drafting me in the third round. Deron Harmon, who
- 43:49Speaker 3: was our free safety, in the third round as well,
- 43:51Speaker 3: so we drafted four guys on Rutgers defense alone in
- 43:53Speaker 3: that draft. But I had the drills from Devon a
- 43:57Speaker 3: week prior and we were practicing for this workout.
- 43:59Speaker 1: What's it like as a rookie going into the locker
- 44:00Speaker 1: room of the NFL where you got thirty five year
- 44:03Speaker 1: olds in there as well.
- 44:05Speaker 3: Crazy it was again that's another adjustment again, and I
- 44:09Speaker 3: just think you got to earn them with your play
- 44:10Speaker 3: and just being a good rookie. I was singing songs,
- 44:12Speaker 3: I was telling jokes. I remember I was playing really
- 44:14Speaker 3: well in the preseason. I actually had a pick six
- 44:17Speaker 3: against the Bucks who shianna want to be that coach.
- 44:19Speaker 3: So I kind of got Schiano back with a pick
- 44:20Speaker 3: six in the preseason. And because he didn't draft me
- 44:24Speaker 3: in the second round, so I'm like, old coach, that
- 44:26Speaker 3: passing on me.
- 44:27Speaker 1: Dang, that had it hurt a little bit, like a
- 44:29Speaker 1: I taking that personal.
- 44:30Speaker 3: Yeah, it was a little personal at the time. So
- 44:32Speaker 3: I was like, Okay, don't draft me.
- 44:33Speaker 1: That's fine. See what I do.
- 44:35Speaker 3: So I uh, he actually drafted another corner as well,
- 44:39Speaker 3: so I end up doing that.
- 44:41Speaker 1: So I'm playing well.
- 44:41Speaker 3: So I'm like kind of playing with the starters like
- 44:43Speaker 3: when the season is about to start, like kind of
- 44:45Speaker 3: like in there, very different than the started my college career.
- 44:48Speaker 3: And I remember a keep to leeve was like and
- 44:51Speaker 3: I think there's no more intimidating veteran you can have
- 44:53Speaker 3: than a keep to leave as a rookie, and a
- 44:56Speaker 3: key was like, yo, rookie, you gotta get his chicken
- 44:58Speaker 3: wings before we.
- 44:59Speaker 1: Go in away game.
- 45:00Speaker 3: On the flight, I'm like, I'm not getting no chicken wings.
- 45:03Speaker 3: I'm like one of the starters, like get the other
- 45:04Speaker 3: rookies a day. And he was like he looked at me,
- 45:06Speaker 3: He's like, you're getting those chicken wings. And I just
- 45:09Speaker 3: was like, I'm getting those chickens. So I ended up
- 45:13Speaker 3: getting chicken wings before every road game. I had to
- 45:16Speaker 3: go to Skipjacks across the street a Patriot place and
- 45:19Speaker 3: get like three hundred chicken wings and in.
- 45:22Speaker 1: A suit and bring buffalo wings in a suit.
- 45:26Speaker 3: And not get any sauce on me and get pictured
- 45:29Speaker 3: in the planes every like pregame picture of me in
- 45:31Speaker 3: the plane. I had like big old bag of chicken
- 45:33Speaker 3: wings for the entire secondary or whatever. And I did
- 45:36Speaker 3: that for I did that for an entire year, and
- 45:37Speaker 3: I ended up starting most of that year leaning the team,
- 45:41Speaker 3: leaning the AFC and it I had five interceptions as
- 45:43Speaker 3: a rookie.
- 45:43Speaker 1: He's still getting wings even though you got fired.
- 45:45Speaker 3: Started AFC Championship, starting AFC Championship, had more picks than
- 45:50Speaker 3: to leave that year, and uh yeah, I was getting
- 45:52Speaker 3: chicken wings up to the AFC Championship, and I remember
- 45:55Speaker 3: we were flying to the AFC Championship and Bill was like,
- 45:58Speaker 3: let the players sit first clipt and some other organizations
- 46:01Speaker 3: when you fly, the coaches sit first class and the
- 46:03Speaker 3: players in the bat and that pisses the players off.
- 46:05Speaker 3: But Bill's like, nah, the players, they run the show
- 46:07Speaker 3: like they're in the first class. But there's only so
- 46:08Speaker 3: many seats, so he doesn't do it on some yard
- 46:11Speaker 3: he doesn't know who's playing. So I remember I was
- 46:13Speaker 3: I got like a first class seat, and I'm like, yeah,
- 46:16Speaker 3: like okay, I made it. And they had some guys
- 46:18Speaker 3: that are ten year vets in economy pissed. I'm like, hey,
- 46:21Speaker 3: like I'm playing better, Bill rewards, who's playing better?
- 46:24Speaker 1: Who gets respect? Somebody who plays well or somebody's got
- 46:26Speaker 1: a big deal.
- 46:29Speaker 3: Who I always say play well because even when I
- 46:32Speaker 3: signed some big deals. I signed two thirty million dollar
- 46:34Speaker 3: contracts in my career, and I just I always felt
- 46:38Speaker 3: like I got to show to the guys like I'm
- 46:40Speaker 3: worth it, because nothing's worse than a guy who gets
- 46:42Speaker 3: paid and doesn't work.
- 46:43Speaker 1: And you're like, this is a guy we're paying.
- 46:45Speaker 3: Like you're do you see that in locker rooms. Oh yeah,
- 46:47Speaker 3: that's a lot of team's issues. They play guys they
- 46:50Speaker 3: don't know their character. The money changes the guys, and
- 46:53Speaker 3: now you have a big issue because not only is
- 46:55Speaker 3: your paid player supposed to be your best player and
- 46:57Speaker 3: hopefully your hardest worker like Tom Brady is, and these
- 46:59Speaker 3: guys are, he's your least hardest worker and he's not
- 47:02Speaker 3: even playing up to his own potentials. That really hurts
- 47:04Speaker 3: your team. So you got to pay. You got to
- 47:06Speaker 3: make sure that you reward the right guys. I'm a
- 47:09Speaker 3: big booster.
- 47:10Speaker 1: I do NILS with players, big Arkansas guy, and I
- 47:14Speaker 1: think one of the things that I've been able to
- 47:16Speaker 1: observe is that some of these guys grew up like
- 47:18Speaker 1: I did, no money, broke, but this is their first
- 47:20Speaker 1: time to get some money in college, and it actually
- 47:24Speaker 1: prepares them from when they get more money in the NFL.
- 47:27Speaker 1: So it's not just straight culture shot going from nothing
- 47:30Speaker 1: to everything. I feel like that's a real positive of
- 47:33Speaker 1: the NIL is there's an adjustment period before you hit
- 47:36Speaker 1: it real big. Your thoughts on that? I love that.
- 47:39Speaker 1: I love that IL.
- 47:40Speaker 3: It's I mean, I just like that the players are
- 47:42Speaker 3: getting a piece of the pie. And I know it's
- 47:44Speaker 3: kind of crazy to regulate, and I know a lot
- 47:46Speaker 3: of players are making a lot.
- 47:48Speaker 1: Of money at a young age. But I think what
- 47:49Speaker 1: it also does.
- 47:50Speaker 3: I think it can expose the family that's been waiting
- 47:54Speaker 3: to do it anyway, so you might you know, when
- 47:57Speaker 3: you've got a million dollars at twenty one, you got
- 47:59Speaker 3: some uncles that have been waiting in the weeds. You
- 48:02Speaker 3: know that now if you don't give them something now,
- 48:03Speaker 3: they now they're mad at you. So maybe it exposes
- 48:06Speaker 3: a little the family dynamic or the support dynamic a
- 48:09Speaker 3: little earlier. So these kids be like, oh, okay, I
- 48:11Speaker 3: really see who's got my back and not? You know,
- 48:14Speaker 3: so I think a lot of guys stresses is dealing
- 48:16Speaker 3: with family and how to hint, like you.
- 48:18Speaker 1: Can't help everybody and where where? Who do you owe
- 48:21Speaker 1: what to? And what?
- 48:22Speaker 3: Your aunt struggling, so you got to pay for her,
- 48:23Speaker 3: and so and so had a hospitality, got to pay
- 48:25Speaker 3: for that, and your mom needs this, and your dad
- 48:27Speaker 3: needs that, and you're oh, by your brother's always been
- 48:29Speaker 3: there with you, so he needs this. And then eventually
- 48:31Speaker 3: it's like you tell them no one time, and then
- 48:33Speaker 3: they get mad at you, you know, so you definitely
- 48:35Speaker 3: need to work on that dynamic.
- 48:37Speaker 1: Do they work with you guys on money when you
- 48:39Speaker 1: go in like that? Because I know in the NBA
- 48:41Speaker 1: they do these these class.
- 48:43Speaker 3: They Yeah, we have a we have a we have
- 48:46Speaker 3: like a rookie symposium, you know, but it's just it's generic,
- 48:51Speaker 3: you know, it's not like a class, it's a it's
- 48:53Speaker 3: a one day, you know, four hour presentation. You watch
- 48:57Speaker 3: the documentary about Going Broke, which was that you that
- 49:00Speaker 3: thirty for thirty which was crazy, and see Antoine Jamison
- 49:02Speaker 3: and then buying an apartment complexes and JaMarcus Russell, like buying
- 49:06Speaker 3: an entire plane every seat.
- 49:07Speaker 1: You know. I'm like, I wouldn't do that.
- 49:10Speaker 3: But I don't know if that teaches you actually like
- 49:12Speaker 3: what taxes are and like how to percentages? Yeah, Like
- 49:15Speaker 3: I don't think guys like every draft pick is buying
- 49:18Speaker 3: their mama house and somebody a car the first day
- 49:20Speaker 3: and it's like, dude, you're making like maybe eight hundred
- 49:24Speaker 3: thousand dollars this year after taxes, that's like five hundred.
- 49:28Speaker 3: Now you bought a car and a house, Like, how
- 49:30Speaker 3: are you even going to pay for your own rent?
- 49:32Speaker 1: Like there's not enough money to do that in day one,
- 49:35Speaker 1: which I you know, for Nils. Again, I think it's
- 49:37Speaker 1: great when you somebody make a few hundred thousand bucks
- 49:39Speaker 1: because then when they make a million, they know half
- 49:40Speaker 1: of it where it's going anyway. Yeah, you know. Yeah,
- 49:43Speaker 1: So when you get to the NFL and you're playing
- 49:45Speaker 1: with the Patriots and you're playing, well, I mean, you
- 49:48Speaker 1: got the greatest player of all time Tom Brady there.
- 49:52Speaker 1: I mean, does he just walk around and everybody just
- 49:55Speaker 1: it's instant respect or is he one of the guys.
- 49:58Speaker 3: He's he's one of the guys much as he could be,
- 50:00Speaker 3: and he's just he's different. He was older than you know,
- 50:02Speaker 3: older than a lot of us and all that stuff.
- 50:04Speaker 3: But he is the most one of the most huge
- 50:07Speaker 3: like humble people for high star power.
- 50:10Speaker 1: Like like does he try to be involved with folks.
- 50:12Speaker 3: Yeah, he's very authentic, He's very genuine. He's very engaging, engaging.
- 50:15Speaker 3: I think his EQ is what got him so many
- 50:17Speaker 3: Super Bowls. He really knows how to how to how
- 50:21Speaker 3: to tap in with his teammates and get the best
- 50:23Speaker 3: out of his teammates. Like sometimes you hear how Kobe
- 50:25Speaker 3: didn't always rub right with his teammates, or Jordan didn't
- 50:27Speaker 3: always rub right with his teammates or whatever. I think
- 50:30Speaker 3: Tom has that same competitive passion and he knows when
- 50:33Speaker 3: to do that, but he also knows when to love
- 50:34Speaker 3: up on his teammates and maybe a little more Lebron esque.
- 50:38Speaker 3: I don't know, but I think that like Tom has
- 50:40Speaker 3: mastered I think that's the difference with him in a
- 50:42Speaker 3: lot of these other quarterbacks. That's why he has seven
- 50:43Speaker 3: and these other guys have one or two. Is how
- 50:46Speaker 3: much like I'll tell quickly, like this story I've told
- 50:49Speaker 3: a couple of times my first time ever meeting him.
- 50:51Speaker 1: So I get drafted by the Patriots.
- 50:52Speaker 3: I'm walking in the hall, I kind of like see
- 50:55Speaker 3: him like down the home, like, oh shit, I'm have
- 50:56Speaker 3: the run into this guy, Like do I call him
- 50:58Speaker 3: Tom Thomas, mister Brady? Like I had this guy's jersey
- 51:01Speaker 3: growing up, right, So I'm like like clearing my throat
- 51:04Speaker 3: and as I walk up to him outside of normal
- 51:07Speaker 3: conversation range, like you know, you have like maybe a
- 51:10Speaker 3: second to get ready for this conversation. He's like, oh, hey,
- 51:14Speaker 3: you're Logan right. We're drafting a third round out of
- 51:16Speaker 3: Rutgers and he's like, man, look i'm Tom quarterback. Here Like,
- 51:21Speaker 3: if you need anything, my lockers are here. I'm always
- 51:23Speaker 3: here early anything you need, like, just come to me
- 51:26Speaker 3: and I'll do the best I can. He's like, trust me,
- 51:28Speaker 3: I was a rookie. It's hard. Just put your head
- 51:31Speaker 3: down and keep working. And I just thought that was
- 51:33Speaker 3: so cool. Not only did take the awkward interaction out
- 51:35Speaker 3: of me, but he made me feel he knew who
- 51:37Speaker 3: I was, he knew where I was, school I came from.
- 51:39Speaker 3: He made me feel important, and he said he was
- 51:42Speaker 3: an open book for me. And when you're just the
- 51:45Speaker 3: third round rookie out of Rutgers who's probably the fifty
- 51:48Speaker 3: third best player on the team, I was like, dang,
- 51:51Speaker 3: that's really cool. And I was like, yo, I want
- 51:52Speaker 3: to be like that veteran One day. I might not
- 51:54Speaker 3: be Tom Brady, but I want to be that guy
- 51:56Speaker 3: that's not hazing and not like making it so hard.
- 51:59Speaker 3: We need these guys, and I think Tom knows that
- 52:01Speaker 3: he's going to need every one of his teammates.
- 52:03Speaker 1: We only got a few minutes left too with you,
- 52:04Speaker 1: but a couple questions. What if you said, hey, Tom,
- 52:06Speaker 1: will you sign this, well, that football, anything, it could
- 52:10Speaker 1: be anything. You're like, Tom, hey, thanks man, were you signed?
- 52:12Speaker 1: Like is that allowed on the locker room? Yeah? I
- 52:13Speaker 1: got him. You didn't see I got him to sign
- 52:15Speaker 1: his last I picked off his last. But that's the end.
- 52:17Speaker 1: That's you already were established, oh early on. Yeah, and
- 52:21Speaker 1: you're like, it's crazy.
- 52:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I think I think you got to just draw
- 52:25Speaker 3: the line there because everyone would do it, so certain
- 52:28Speaker 3: guys when you're established.
- 52:29Speaker 1: I think he does it, and charity he'll do it.
- 52:32Speaker 1: But like just he would be there all day, Like
- 52:34Speaker 1: you know, you're that went viral when you had him
- 52:36Speaker 1: sign the ball after you. And do you think part
- 52:39Speaker 1: of that situation you approached that was because you alreadyknew
- 52:43Speaker 1: him and played with him. Yeah. I knew him.
- 52:45Speaker 3: We kind of grown together, our relationship of respect, and
- 52:49Speaker 3: I didn't know how much longer he was going to play.
- 52:51Speaker 3: I was going to play whatever, So I kind of
- 52:53Speaker 3: just snuck a bunch of stuff from the sign for
- 52:55Speaker 3: family finally over these years, and then I kind of
- 52:58Speaker 3: snuck the football in there.
- 53:00Speaker 1: You still have the ball. I do have the ball. Yeah,
- 53:03Speaker 1: what could you get? Forty thinks that's.
- 53:05Speaker 3: What I want to know. I mean, let me know
- 53:06Speaker 3: who's listening. I want to over have five hundred thousand.
- 53:10Speaker 1: How do you still train? I get two questions, like,
- 53:12Speaker 1: how do you still train with the intensity that you
- 53:13Speaker 1: need to train with when you're waiting on that call
- 53:16Speaker 1: instead of knowing who that call is going to be from.
- 53:20Speaker 3: I did this during COVID. I was a free agent
- 53:22Speaker 3: for a long time and I left Tennessee. I didn't
- 53:23Speaker 3: sign with the New York Giants till week one of
- 53:26Speaker 3: the season. So I was all the way through training
- 53:28Speaker 3: camp and I got in there and I ended up
- 53:29Speaker 3: leading the team and snaps played and tackles on stuff.
- 53:32Speaker 3: So I've been through this. I think it's just it's discipline.
- 53:35Speaker 3: I get up and get it done, period, doesn't matter
- 53:37Speaker 3: who I'm playing for.
- 53:38Speaker 1: I get up.
- 53:38Speaker 3: I know, I know the work and what I need
- 53:40Speaker 3: to do at this point in my career, and I
- 53:41Speaker 3: get up and just get it done.
- 53:42Speaker 1: You want to come here? I know some people here.
- 53:44Speaker 1: I mean, you want to come here? What the Titans?
- 53:46Speaker 1: I'm just saying, we want to come here? I know
- 53:47Speaker 1: some people here. I don't know, Like where you want
- 53:49Speaker 1: to go? Where do you see yourself fitting well? Who
- 53:51Speaker 1: needs you.
- 53:52Speaker 3: Man, I would love to be in Tampa because my
- 53:54Speaker 3: family's there, you know. But if that's not the case,
- 53:57Speaker 3: then I obviously want to play for a good organization,
- 54:01Speaker 3: a cold tender that can get a guy to plug
- 54:03Speaker 3: in and play and win championships.
- 54:05Speaker 1: I gonna see, Yeah, we'll see what the record is
- 54:08Speaker 1: during during the year. He wants to play for the Cowboys.
- 54:12Speaker 1: Any question for Logan?
- 54:14Speaker 4: Yeah, Logan, So like, growing up, who did you want
- 54:17Speaker 4: to play for? Because I got four kids, three of
- 54:20Speaker 4: them are pretty decent at sports, so I fought them
- 54:22Speaker 4: all jerseys, like so they can take baby pictures with
- 54:25Speaker 4: so the announcer can be like he's always been a
- 54:28Speaker 4: forty nine fan.
- 54:29Speaker 1: From the you know, So who did you want to play? Crazy?
- 54:32Speaker 3: I kept this hitting. I was a New York Giant,
- 54:34Speaker 3: and I literally kept this hitting. But I grew up
- 54:35Speaker 3: a diehard Philly fan because I'm from South Jersey and
- 54:38Speaker 3: there's like no choice, all right, there's Cowboys fans there.
- 54:41Speaker 3: They get like beat up daily fights. It's real rivalries
- 54:44Speaker 3: up there. So I was I was an Eagles fan
- 54:47Speaker 3: growing up. I grew up watching McNab years and and
- 54:49Speaker 3: all those years.
- 54:50Speaker 1: Brian Dawkins and all that. So I was big.
- 54:52Speaker 3: So when the Phillies won the World Series in eight
- 54:54Speaker 3: oh nine or whatever, like our teachers didn't.
- 54:56Speaker 1: Show up to school, like there was no school. Everyone
- 54:58Speaker 1: was at the parade. It's like that type of town.
- 55:00Speaker 1: They were climbing the pole. Yeah, oh yeah, it's serious.
- 55:04Speaker 1: I'm a big animal guy. Tell me about Ryan's monthly
- 55:08Speaker 1: rescue and your goal and what you've been able to
- 55:10Speaker 1: do so far.
- 55:11Speaker 3: Man, we were able to raise hundreds of thousands of
- 55:13Speaker 3: dollars for animals throughout the years. I just love I
- 55:17Speaker 3: was waiting, I was looking for my calls, and I
- 55:18Speaker 3: love shelter animals. I have rescue dogs, my daughter foster's kittens.
- 55:22Speaker 3: So we started a big animal foundation to raise money,
- 55:25Speaker 3: awareness and just be a different face in that industry.
- 55:28Speaker 3: You don't see young black guys like loving on pitbulls.
- 55:30Speaker 3: You see a different type of stereotype. You don't see
- 55:33Speaker 3: guys with kittens and stuff like that. So I've done
- 55:36Speaker 3: a lot when Naturally Humane out here when I was
- 55:39Speaker 3: still currently and we're just trying to promote adoption and
- 55:43Speaker 3: give out grants and stuff for people that are, you know,
- 55:45Speaker 3: struggling with animals and animals need help.
- 55:47Speaker 1: So I'm just an animal lover at r A r
- 55:49Speaker 1: F dot com, which is r A r F and
- 55:53Speaker 1: you find them on Facebook search for the Ryan Animal
- 55:55Speaker 1: Rescue Foundation. We talked about a little bit before you
- 55:57Speaker 1: got in here, but I really appreciate the time, man,
- 56:00Speaker 1: I could just for three hours. So yeah, I hope
- 56:03Speaker 1: you get picked up by a contender. I hope you
- 56:06Speaker 1: still find your fulfillment for playing sports the next couple
- 56:09Speaker 1: of years. Whatever makes you feel like you still got it.
- 56:10Speaker 1: If you still got it, I hope you get But
- 56:11Speaker 1: then when you're don dude, you're gonna kill it in
- 56:13Speaker 1: this space.
- 56:14Speaker 3: Yeah, man, I got peace. I'm proud of what I've done.
- 56:16Speaker 3: So I'm just honestly, it's a financial decision at this point.
- 56:19Speaker 3: I thankfully I had good team and support it where
- 56:22Speaker 3: financially I made good decisions where I don't have to
- 56:24Speaker 3: do that anymore. And my body is important to me.
- 56:26Speaker 3: My time with my family's important to me. So I'm
- 56:28Speaker 3: in the one making decisions now and waiting for the
- 56:31Speaker 3: right opportunity with the right team. If that doesn't happen
- 56:33Speaker 3: and we can do this more often, that's cool too.
- 56:35Speaker 1: You know.
- 56:36Speaker 3: I'm enjoying it. Yeah, pig Sue Man. I played Arkansas
- 56:38Speaker 3: in college.
- 56:39Speaker 1: You played against them. Yeah, we beat them. Two picks
- 56:44Speaker 1: you had. That's how we cut Oh, I did Okay,
- 56:49Speaker 1: we whispered to one guy called back. Yeah, probably get
- 56:52Speaker 1: what was it like a clip or something. That's how
- 56:53Speaker 1: you got it in the first place. I don't know what. Yeah,
- 56:55Speaker 1: something I didn't do somebody else or else follow Logan.
- 56:59Speaker 1: It's at Logan, Ryan, good luck this season. If it
- 57:02Speaker 1: don't work out, let's go, let's get let's do something big.
- 57:05Speaker 3: I appreciate you guys are awesome. Man, it was a
- 57:07Speaker 3: big deal to be here, so I appreciate the opportunity.
- 57:09Speaker 1: And that's crazy, all right, Logan Ryan, everybody, No, thanks
- 57:11Speaker 1: to Logan Ryan. That's awesome. Really one of the coolest
- 57:14Speaker 1: interviews we got to do. Yeah, just sit for an
- 57:16Speaker 1: hour and talk with Logan about that stuff. Whatever you wanted.
- 57:18Speaker 1: Scotty Pippen says Michael Jordan was a horrible player before
- 57:21Speaker 1: he got there. Statistically, says Lebron's going to be easily
- 57:23Speaker 1: be the greatest statistical player of all time. Obviously, Scotty
- 57:27Speaker 1: Pippen's still hurt by the last dance and how he's
- 57:30Speaker 1: portrayed there. Now, what I did is I went back
- 57:34Speaker 1: and looked. These are Jordan's stats without Pipping on the Bulls,
- 57:40Speaker 1: thirty two points per game, six rebounds, five assists. But
- 57:44Speaker 1: then with Pipping on the Bulls he had the same
- 57:45Speaker 1: exact stat line. Yeah, in his two healthy seasons he
- 57:49Speaker 1: was seventy eight and eighty six and one and six
- 57:51Speaker 1: in the playoffs. So that's Jordan's record before Pipen gets there. Now,
- 57:53Speaker 1: like we said, the points per game, the rebounds, assists,
- 57:56Speaker 1: they were all basically the same. But with Pipping he
- 57:58Speaker 1: was five ninety two and two thirty eight. Again not
- 58:01Speaker 1: mister stats, Dang, that's such a difference. He was one
- 58:05Speaker 1: hundred and seventeen and fifty one with six championships with Pippen.
- 58:12Speaker 1: Now he was thirty one or twelve without Pipping in
- 58:13Speaker 1: the final three p years. But by that point he
- 58:16Speaker 1: had other great role players too. I can't get on
- 58:20Speaker 1: pippin side and say Jordan was garbage, but I do
- 58:22Speaker 1: think Scotty Pippen defensively was a beast and made Jordan's
- 58:28Speaker 1: life a whole lot easier. I'm gonna fall to somewhere
- 58:32Speaker 1: in the middle of this. I think they needed each other,
- 58:35Speaker 1: and the fact that Momadad are fighting makes me uncomfortable.
- 58:39Speaker 1: I think Jordan gets all the credit, and I think
- 58:42Speaker 1: Pippin should get a little bit of it, and he doesn't,
- 58:44Speaker 1: and it probably hurts his feelings, And it hurts feelings
- 58:46Speaker 1: when Jordan does the last dance and acts like Pippen
- 58:50Speaker 1: was a cry baby Scotti. Pippen's career stats in seventeen
- 58:54Speaker 1: seasons with the Bulls, Troilblazers and Rockets sixteen points a game,
- 58:57Speaker 1: six or rebounds, five assists, older when he finally got
- 59:00Speaker 1: paid because he didn't get paid, that documentary shows you
- 59:03Speaker 1: he kind of got screwed financially. But older Pippin with
- 59:06Speaker 1: the trail Blazers and Rockets wasn't the same. It wasn't
- 59:09Speaker 1: prime pipping. They just need to admit they needed each other.
- 59:13Speaker 1: But you can't have Michael Jordan and he needed anything.
- 59:15Speaker 1: And Pip's already said Jordan's garbage. We know that's not
- 59:17Speaker 1: true as well. I still think Lebron's best basketball player
- 59:21Speaker 1: of all time. I still think it is, and I
- 59:22Speaker 1: watch Michael Jordan a ton, but there's not been another
- 59:25Speaker 1: Lebron that can do everything that he does with the
- 59:27Speaker 1: size that he is, and he's also has a scoring record.
- 59:30Speaker 1: You can hit me with rings, sure, but as we
- 59:34Speaker 1: saw here, rings have a lot to do with who
- 59:37Speaker 1: else is on your team, because Jordan was garbage until
- 59:41Speaker 1: Pippin got there. I started to get on Pipping's side
- 59:43Speaker 1: after saying that Quentin Tarantino once paid a strip or
- 59:46Speaker 1: ten thousand bucks to liquor toes until they were prunes. Man,
- 59:51Speaker 1: I said this disposable money, Like that's just like, you
- 59:56Speaker 1: got so much money, you have access to everything. So
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: what do you do? You have a foot fetish and
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: you go lick some toes until they prune. Like how
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: much spit is coming out of his mouth. It takes
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: me a solid thirty five minutes in the bathtub to
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: start pruning anything. And I'm sitting directly in water. Yeah,
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: I mean tongue in that, tongue in a toe.
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: A lot of work.
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: God, dang, how's he gonna take He's licking toes for
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: an hour. He had to be to some toe sucking though, too.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: It just can't be licking. I know this is liquing,
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: but he's got to be doing some toe sucking with
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: them in the bathtub of his mouth.
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: He's getting juicy in there.
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like he's. Guys got to be holding him
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: in his mouth bathtub because otherwise that ain't pruning. A
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: former stroke club manager in Hollywood is Quentin Tarantino. Once
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: came in and asked for a VIP room and a girl,
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: and then he pursued a liquorr feet and suck her
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: toes until they look like prunes, and he gave her
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: ten thousand dollars. After thirty minutes, the guy says her
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: feet looked like prunes. Quentin gave her ten grand. You know, hmm,
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: it's tough. I'm thinking about it. If I would take
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: ten grand to have my toes sucked by Quentin Tarantino, Yeah,
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: oh yeah, I do for ten grand. Well, yeah, but
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: you like movies.
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm gonna.
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: Get to ask him any questions about directing Mike. Oh,
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: even if I don't have to ask one single question,
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: I would do it for ten grand. I'm okay right now,
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: or I don't. I would do it for ten grand.
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: You're not the one doing it, You're the I mean.
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: I'm taking it. Yeah, yeah, I'm still probably not gonna
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: Oh no, you gonna do that? No, one hundred grand
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: I think we're talking ten Probably not you weird o
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: Quentin Tarantino sucking on your toes?
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: Yeah, Grand, probably not, no, maybe, Okay, all right.
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: Look that's it. Let's go around the room here. Final thoughts,
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: Kevin will get yours every week, go ahead.
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: I'm exhausted. I'm exhausted mentally physically from being a fan
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: this series. Last two weeks is just from the ultimate
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: highs to the ultimate lows from it, whether it's a
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: shot or a game or the series. And I'm just exhausted,
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: and I feel like I need to have a few
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: days to recoup before I get toast sucked.
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, you get mister Tarantino on the phone.
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: So I'm happy the series is over because I'm exhausted.
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: Our camera guy Reid read what's up? What's going on?
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: So I am leaving tomorrow actually to go to the UK.
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: I'm going to Kentucky. He's gonna watch Kentucky basketball, that's it.
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: I'm going to London and in Scotland and it's gonna
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: be fun.
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: I have not packed whatsoever, so I need to do
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: a lot of preparation Also, I didn't even know they
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: had different plugs there, did they do? Yeah, So you
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: can get this up at the airport. Okay, that's probably
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: the best place because you can go to a gas
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: station too. But it's like finding an extension cord at
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: a gas station here, Like you got to find the
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: right kind of gas station you have an extension cord,
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: like country gas stations have extension cords. But I would
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: just get a couple of those at the airport or one.
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: It just spends how many thing's gonna plug in. Yeah.
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: I went to Utah over the weekend and watched Utah
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: softball when they're super regional, and be honest with you,
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: pretty freaking cool. My brother in law, the assistant head
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: coach there, but he's really gone in there, in my opinion,
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: totally flipped that program. And they're gonna be in Oklahoma
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: City playing the College World Series, first time that team's
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: ever made it, or at least since ninety four, So
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: first time since ninety four. So this coaching the head
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: coach there has never been until now, and they had
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: never hosted a Super Regional. And so that's where I'll
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: be this weekend is in Oklahoma City watching women's softball.
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you this, the environment in a stadium
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: is so much more fun than a college baseball game.
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: And I love college baseball in Arkansas's in a regional
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: but you know, dude, they gotta be cool. And you
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: take the energy from the players and they're all like yelling, singing,
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: doing cheer. I mean, it's definitely, as they say, a
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: vibe in a college softball stadium. I mean, people, it's NonStop.
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: I mean, it's music. I mean, it's just so much
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: more active than a baseball game. And I love baseball,
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: love college baseball, and I'll be rooting for Arkansas, probably going,
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: but I'm telling you, if you have to go to
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: one of a team, you don't know, man, college softball
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: is so much more fun just to be at the game.
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: I never thought i'd say it, but I have to
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: say it. That's it. I hope you guys have a
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: great rest of the day. I don't know if we'll
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: be back this week or not, but if we will,
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: we'll be up on the twenty five whistles feed only.
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: Like I said, we don't know what we're doing. We
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: don't know when we'll be back, but I assume it'll
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: be sometime soon. We'll probably talk about the finals if
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: something crazy happens. But we're not under a schedule. We're
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: under our own rule. Now, thank you, I'll blow the whistle.
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: We'll get out of here until next time. We'll see
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: you guys. The theme song written by Bobby Bones and
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: performed by Brandon Ray. Follow Brandon on socials at Brandon
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: Ray Music. Thanks to our crew, segment producer at Kickoff Kevin,

- 1:05:17Speaker 1: Most importantly, thank you for listening to Bobby Bones. We'll
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: talk to you next week.
