Transcript
- 0:01Well howdy and welcome back to the Mark Driscoll Show.
- 0:03I'm your Co host Landon Chase and we've got another great kick
- 0:07to the hornet's nest. This week the Catholic Church
- 0:09has gone from blessing some Arctic ice to blessing illegal
- 0:12immigration. We bring back Peter the Apostle
- 0:16with AI to ask him what he'd say to America.
- 0:19I give you the secret to purchasing your first home
- 0:21without having $1,000,000 in the bank.
- 0:23And we discussed the ongoing civil war in the conservative
- 0:26movement between Mega and America First.
- 0:29And lastly, we'll read some of the mean comments we've been
- 0:32getting. Shocking.
- 0:33And hopefully you'll have the tissues at ready, because
- 0:36they're brutal. This is an episode you won't
- 0:39want to miss. As pastors, we, the bishops of
- 1:03the United States, are bound to our people by ties of communion
- 1:07and compassion in our Lord Jesus Christ, and we are disturbed
- 1:11when we see among our people a climate of fear and anxiety
- 1:15around questions of profiling and immigration enforcement.
- 1:19We are saddened by the state of contemporary debate and the
- 1:23vilification of immigrants. We are concerned about the
- 1:27conditions in detention centers and the lack of access to
- 1:31pastoral care. Human dignity and national
- 1:35security are not in conflict. Both are possible if people of
- 1:39goodwill work together. We recognize that nations have a
- 1:44responsibility to regulate their borders and establish a just and
- 1:49orderly immigration system. Without such processes,
- 1:53immigrants face a risk of trafficking and other forms of
- 1:57exploitation. To our immigrant brothers and
- 2:00sisters, we stand with you in your suffering.
- 2:04Since when 1 member suffers, all suffer.
- 2:08You are not alone. We oppose the indiscriminate
- 2:11mass deportation of people. We pray for an end to
- 2:15dehumanizing rhetoric and violence, whether directed at
- 2:18immigrants or at. Law enforcement.
- 2:20Wow, these guys just seem really fun.
- 2:23Pastor Mark. Good times.
- 2:24Yeah, really good times anyways. Yeah, the world's getting really
- 2:31weird. It's very, I think the reason we
- 2:34we bring this up today is it's just confusing how soft they are
- 2:39being on things like deportation, immigration, that
- 2:44kind of thing. But they're holding such good
- 2:46and firm stances on LGBTQ marriages for one man, one
- 2:50woman. They're very clear on some
- 2:51things and very murky on others. And then we can get into a
- 2:55minute. But there's also like, they're
- 2:57getting funding from, yeah, from, from groups from the
- 3:01federal government, hundreds of millions of dollars to
- 3:03facilitate housing for immigrants.
- 3:04So yeah, it's just confusing. Yeah.
- 3:06So let me start your really big picture.
- 3:08So there's kind of three major teams within Christianity,
- 3:10Orthodox, Protestant, Catholic, Catholic are brothers and
- 3:15sisters in Christ. We agree on the closed handed
- 3:18issues in the church creed. So we're talking about, you
- 3:21know, church that is part of the capital C Church of Jesus
- 3:25Christ. And, and so it's, it's a
- 3:28discussion and a debate and a dialogue within.
- 3:31And then within the history of Christianity, across Protestant,
- 3:35Orthodox and Catholic, there is something called the two
- 3:39kingdoms. And it's this theology that
- 3:42comes from the Bible. And that is that there is, to
- 3:44quote Augustine, there's the, the, the city of God, the city
- 3:48of man, the Kingdom of God, the Kingdom of man.
- 3:50Jesus talks about this when he's like, well, render unto Caesar
- 3:54what is Caesar's. That's the Kingdom of man render
- 3:57unto God what is God. So that's the Kingdom of God.
- 4:00So you get God in government. And they're they're separate,
- 4:03they're distinct, they're different.
- 4:06And then the question is what role does the church have in
- 4:11regards to the state? And part of the function of the
- 4:14church is to be the conscience and the moral guide for the
- 4:18state. And so, you know, there is a
- 4:21right place for Christians and Christian leaders, denominations
- 4:26to speak into political and cultural issues.
- 4:29That's part of our our responsibility as a Christian.
- 4:33Part of the problem that the Catholic Church has is they are
- 4:36a global movement. And so they don't think in
- 4:39nationalistic terms. Before we get into some of the
- 4:43criticism, let's say what they're doing right.
- 4:46Like you said, they've remained staunchly pro-life, which is
- 4:49awesome. I wish that some bishops would
- 4:52enforce that with, you know, pro murderous, highly progressive
- 4:56political leaders who are still practicing Catholic communion,
- 5:01for example, and should be excommunicated as well.
- 5:05They have held the line generally on issues of gender
- 5:08and mutilation of children. And even this last week, the
- 5:11American bishops came out for the Catholic Church and they
- 5:15declared that there would be no transgender surgeries done in
- 5:20Catholic hospitals or medical facilities.
- 5:23So we say, great, let's let's rejoice, let's honor, let's
- 5:27thank, and let's celebrate and let's congratulate.
- 5:31When it comes to issue of borders, part of the reason that
- 5:35the Catholic Church struggles again is being a global movement
- 5:38with all the nations. They have a hard time thinking
- 5:41in terms of national interest, and when it says that they
- 5:45oppose mass deportation, well, wouldn't it require mass
- 5:51deportation if there was mass invasion?
- 5:54And so if your borders are unsecured and a bunch of people
- 5:58illegally enter into your country, isn't justice telling
- 6:03them that they need to leave or requiring them to leave and then
- 6:06go through the legal process by which to enter?
- 6:09And the lack of borders, they talk about it, but it leads to
- 6:12human trafficking. It leads to, I mean, we've got,
- 6:15I think 300,000 children that are just missing.
- 6:19You've got the abuse of women that are being trafficked as
- 6:23well. And so those who would say that,
- 6:25you know, the poor need to have the eradication of borders,
- 6:28well, then they're also really taken advantage of in a, in a
- 6:32horrifying, disturbing way. Like, we're here in Arizona, and
- 6:37this may be too much, you know, graphic information.
- 6:40But along the southern border during the Biden administration,
- 6:43there were rape trees. And these are trees at the
- 6:46border that are filled with women's undergarments because as
- 6:50men would sexually assault women and children, they would throw
- 6:53their undergarments in the tree as sort of a trophy.
- 6:56It's like, well, how do you call that, you know, love and
- 6:59justice? And how do you call that
- 7:01freedom? It's not, it's, it's it, it's
- 7:04horror, it's terror, It's it's trauma, it's abuse.
- 7:08And so, you know, as as functional men, we've got to say
- 7:12protecting women and children is important.
- 7:14Thereby, you know, an immigration system that puts
- 7:17people in a a fair, expeditious process and keeps them from
- 7:24being trafficked or, you know, brought into country by coyotes
- 7:27is I mean, that's just part of caring for humanity, but within
- 7:31it as well. We can get into the details, but
- 7:33here's what I think is so weird. The Vatican is a country.
- 7:40It has a very secure border, and no one's allowed to immigrate
- 7:46into that country per person. It's, I believe, the richest
- 7:53country on earth. That's crazy.
- 7:57And so Vatican City could really help a lot of the poor if it
- 8:03opened its doors and allowed immigration and spend some money
- 8:07to care for those who are needing to be cared for.
- 8:11Crazy. They believe in walls and doors
- 8:12and. Locks, yeah.
- 8:13So like if you go to the Vatican, you'll be met with
- 8:16walls and doors and soldiers. And if you would like to apply
- 8:21for asylum or citizenship, you can't because it's one country
- 8:27that no one can immigrate into. Just I think it's been, it's a.
- 8:32Fun fact. That's a very fun fact.
- 8:34It's a very fun fact. So they're just, so they're
- 8:37taking in all this money to encourage.
- 8:40I mean, this is almost kind of like propaganda trying to get
- 8:43people within the Catholic Church to encourage immigration.
- 8:46But they are very protective of themselves.
- 8:49But they're great with all these other countries leading the the
- 8:52way. Yeah, Yeah.
- 8:53Well, you know, take the doors off the hinge at Vatican City
- 8:56and, you know, practice what you preach.
- 8:58I love it. And again, like, there's no, I
- 9:01mean, actually, I'm a big fan of legal immigration, bringing in
- 9:05people that are going to add value to the country, that are
- 9:08motivated to work, that are chasing the American dream.
- 9:12And part of what is causing the Catholics to speak out is a lot
- 9:16of people who are, you know, coming into the country, even
- 9:19illegally, they're also Catholic.
- 9:21And what I would say is in a puff piece, PR piece like this,
- 9:25I would say, and for those of you who are Catholic, obey the
- 9:28law, obey the law. Go Romans 13, you know,
- 9:34governing authorities obey the law.
- 9:36So if you're Catholic and you want to enter into a nation,
- 9:40please do so legally by following the laws of that
- 9:43nation. But they never say that.
- 9:46So they don't encourage Catholics to obey the law.
- 9:50They encourage those who are not Catholic to overlook the fact
- 9:53that many who are Catholic did disobey the law.
- 9:57Yeah. And just from a a Bible
- 10:00teaching, stewarding, pastoral perspective, that's not
- 10:03tremendous fidelity. I would tell the people you know
- 10:06who listen to me or in our church, obey the law and only
- 10:10practice civil disobedience if the government is requiring you
- 10:14to do something that is against God or is denying you the
- 10:18opportunity to do something that God commands.
- 10:21God doesn't. God doesn't command people to
- 10:24move to another country. And and it's not forbidden for
- 10:28them to move so long as they undergo the legal process.
- 10:31So this is not civil disobedience.
- 10:33Yeah. So this doesn't measure the
- 10:36biblical, historical, theological criteria for defying
- 10:40the law and the principles laid down in Romans 13.
- 10:43So it would have been helpful if they said obey the law, be a
- 10:47good citizen, get in line, go through the process.
- 10:51Totally. And it is, it is odd to have
- 10:54like they have one spokesperson that leads all the churches like
- 10:58that would be pretty weird. We talked about Big Eva and the
- 11:02American Church like we don't have one person that's speaking
- 11:05for everyone and follow suit this way and feels like if if it
- 11:09was in American Christianity, it would get very corrupt very
- 11:12quickly. Do you believe like the Catholic
- 11:14Church as an organization could be corrupt?
- 11:17Yeah, Anything that is big invariably has corruption
- 11:22because it's like that. So I always use the analogy the
- 11:26I love the television show alone, you know, and the goal
- 11:30there. That's like a vacation for you.
- 11:32You're like, Oh my gosh, that's just.
- 11:34I was like one of my 10 items would be a Bible and literally I
- 11:38would just fast for 40 days. I would be good.
- 11:41And so, but in a loan, the goal is always at the beginning, like
- 11:45we need to get a big game kill, go get an elk or something.
- 11:48And then they think, OK, that's it.
- 11:49I've won a loan. If you don't know the show
- 11:51alone, they drop in the middle of nowhere.
- 11:52You get 10 items and you need to get food, water, shelter, fire,
- 11:57and then the last person standing either because they
- 11:59didn't tap out or medically, you know, get pulled out.
- 12:02They went alone and usually it's a big quarter, $1,000,000 payday
- 12:05or what have you. But the problem is if you get
- 12:09the big game hunt, you spend the rest of the show trying to ward
- 12:13off the predators. So you get the elk and then you
- 12:16go to bed and in the middle of the night the fox got in and
- 12:19took a bunch of you out. So the bigger an organization
- 12:22gets, it's how do you keep the predators out?
- 12:25And there's always people that they're crooked and they're
- 12:28crooks. And we see this even in the
- 12:30ministry of Jesus. He's got Judas Iscariot.
- 12:33And so Judas is the the money guy, he's the CFO and he's
- 12:37stealing the whole time. And so if Jesus has somebody
- 12:40who's corrupt in his ministry, there's going to be corruption
- 12:45in any organization. And the more resources you get,
- 12:48the more attempts there will be for corruption to happen.
- 12:52Yeah. So within the Catholic Church, a
- 12:55part of what is happening as well.
- 12:56And I know you've got this in the notes.
- 12:58Maybe you can explain what Megan Bastian?
- 13:00You know, let me just read it to you, she says.
- 13:02Oh, give me a break. The reason US Conference of
- 13:05Catholic Bishops is speaking out against Trump's deportation of
- 13:09illegal immigrants is directly cuts into their own funding.
- 13:13The federal government was paying them hundreds of millions
- 13:16of dollars to facilitate housing for immigrants.
- 13:20Feels a little corrupt. Well, at that point, you're
- 13:22like, hey, you know, we're for this.
- 13:24It's like, but are you getting paid for this?
- 13:27Then you have a conflict of interest.
- 13:29Similarly, I was talking to a pastor, a good man, and a friend
- 13:33of mine in New York. And what happened there is when
- 13:38they had this flood of immigrants, illegal immigrants,
- 13:41the government went to the churches and said we would like
- 13:47to rent your facility to house migrants.
- 13:50So there were lots of churches that rented out to the
- 13:54government to house migrants. But now the churches are no
- 13:58longer holding services. And now the churches are
- 14:02financially dependent on the government.
- 14:05Shockingly, those churches were woke, apostate, liberal, and
- 14:10they are teaching things that are against the Bible and God,
- 14:15and they're for the government because they're hirelings.
- 14:18And so Jesus has nothing good to say about hirelings.
- 14:22And a hireling is somebody who's getting paid, and that
- 14:25compromises their message. And so, you know, when you're
- 14:29getting paid by the government to house illegal immigrants, and
- 14:34then your message is that you are for illegal immigrants, you
- 14:37have to ask yourself, am I now a hireling?
- 14:40Yeah. Would you take that check as a
- 14:42senior pastor? No, yeah, because at the end of
- 14:45the day, I believe that the function of the church is
- 14:48prophetic, that it has to be on the margins.
- 14:52It needs to maintain independence and autonomy so
- 14:55that it can speak with truth and authority.
- 14:58This is why I think, honestly, I think This is why being part of
- 15:03a denomination or a network today is really difficult
- 15:07because if the, if the leadership is not entirely
- 15:12corrupt, but not also entirely pure, it's hard to maintain
- 15:17purity of message when you're under authority that isn't
- 15:21entirely pure, you know, and, and so, and people have become
- 15:26jaded just of, you know, institutions in general.
- 15:30I mean, even just thinking about it right now, it's I, I haven't
- 15:32really spent a lot of time pondering it, but the Catholic
- 15:35Church is massive. I mean, I think they're the
- 15:37biggest landholder. The biggest landholding
- 15:39institution in the world after governments.
- 15:42And part of it is too, that this will sound negative, but these
- 15:47are men who don't have families. They don't have wives, they
- 15:51don't have kids, they don't own homes, they don't pay mortgages,
- 15:56they don't have property taxes, and they don't have heirs.
- 15:59That does affect how you view business.
- 16:03This does affect how you view taxes and real estate costs and
- 16:08investments and the future if you take a vow of celibacy and
- 16:13poverty. And it's like the church owns
- 16:15everything. I live at the church.
- 16:17I have no wife, I have no kids, I pay no mortgage, I don't have
- 16:22an interest rate, I don't have a family to feed and I don't have
- 16:26heirs to consider. That causes you to have leaders
- 16:31that are not necessarily business minded and think like
- 16:35fathers. Even though they're called
- 16:37fathers, they're not really fathers and they don't really
- 16:39think like fathers. Ergo, if you bring 1020 million
- 16:44people into your country illegally in a surge and now
- 16:48they need a place to live, now you're driving housing prices up
- 16:52because it's a supply demand market.
- 16:55Now you are seeing the adjustment in the housing
- 16:58market. And now you're considering what
- 17:00this will do to your children when they get married and they
- 17:03need to get housing. And now you're thinking
- 17:06strategically about the housing market, and you're thinking
- 17:09about interest rates and you're thinking about supply chain and
- 17:12you're thinking about supply and demand.
- 17:14And if you're a single guy, all you're thinking about is I live
- 17:18in a free house. I guess everybody should get a
- 17:21free house. Yeah, yeah.
- 17:23And so this is where the qualifications for a leader in
- 17:26the Bible and I love my Catholic friends and I was raised
- 17:29Catholic and I have no beef with the Catholic Church and I went
- 17:32to Catholic school and I was born in a Catholic hospital.
- 17:35I was baptized in the Catholic Church like my my grandma became
- 17:38a pre Vatican 2 Latin masked nun after my grandfather died.
- 17:43But if you look at the qualifications in this, he says
- 17:45as pastors, First Timothy 3, Titus 1, the qualifications,
- 17:50good husband and father and their qualifications are you're
- 17:56not allowed to be a husband or a father.
- 17:59That does affect how you see certain events and certain
- 18:04things. And it affects the type of men
- 18:05that would sign up for. It and it does affect the kind
- 18:07of men that sign up for it. And so, you know, they're
- 18:10looking at the poor, which the Bible does care about all
- 18:14people, and we should care for Christian brothers and sisters
- 18:171st. And those who are poor do need
- 18:20to factor in. But those are exhortations to
- 18:22churches, not governments. And the the church needs to be
- 18:27the conscience of the government.
- 18:29But at the end of the day, you can't just quote verses at the
- 18:32government and tell them to do what let's say, for example, the
- 18:35apostle Paul told the church at Corinth.
- 18:38Because again, back to the two kingdoms, there's a difference
- 18:41between government and God, between church and state.
- 18:46Yeah. 100% it's the, the Pope tweeted kind of in response to
- 18:52this. I'm just, we can close it out
- 18:54there on your thoughts there. I urge heads of States and
- 18:58leaders of nations to listen to the cry of the poorest.
- 19:02There can be no peace without justice.
- 19:04The poor remind us of this in many ways, through immigration
- 19:07or through migration, as well as through their cries, which are
- 19:11often stifled by the myth of well-being and progress, which
- 19:15does not take everyone into account.
- 19:19It kind of sounds like socialism, but.
- 19:21It does sound like socialism adjacent, and again, the the
- 19:27goal of a nation is to do best by its citizens.
- 19:31And the best thing to do is to welcome people to join the
- 19:33nation who won, sharing its values and history #2 want to
- 19:38improve it in the present and #3 want to leave it better in the
- 19:42future. And unless you do that, you
- 19:45cease to have a nation. Yeah, it's yeah, it all it all,
- 19:50it all confuses me a lot and feels a little corrupt from just
- 19:54a capitalistic perspective. I'm like if if any of the
- 19:57churches were this big in America, if if the AG church or.
- 20:01Yeah, any of the the big denominations got this big, it'd
- 20:04be like, and you were around this long and you were taking
- 20:08money from the government, if it was any, if it was any other
- 20:10church would be like, oh, this is not good.
- 20:13Well, howdy Pastor Mark Driscoll here, wanting to introduce you
- 20:16to our new partner for the Mark Driscoll Show, Gold Co.
- 20:21Historically, we have not had sponsors and the Bible teaching
- 20:25is still free, but on the Mark Driscoll Show, we're getting
- 20:28into political and cultural commentary and we're really
- 20:32happy and grateful that someone was willing to step forward and
- 20:36help underwrite the cost for that.
- 20:38So thank you to our new friends at Gold Co.
- 20:41Let me explain to you what they do.
- 20:44They allow you to invest in what is a very secure investment,
- 20:49that being silver and gold. We see it right now, tremendous
- 20:54volatility in the stock market and also uncertainty in the
- 20:59housing market. If you're looking for a place to
- 21:02park your wealth so that it can be secure and stable,
- 21:06historically, gold and silver are a really good idea all the
- 21:10way back to the Bible. You can actually just do a word
- 21:13study in the Bible for yourself. Gold and silver are in there a
- 21:17lot. And so I am very much in
- 21:21agreement with this kind of investment strategy, want to
- 21:24thank our new partners and would like you to get your kit.
- 21:28And here's what they're offering you.
- 21:30You can visit goldco.com/real Faith, that's gold co.com/real
- 21:37Faith. They're going to get you a free
- 21:392025 gold and silver kit. In addition, it'll explain in
- 21:44detail how you can then get 10% bonus or silver gold offer save
- 21:51you some money to get started and it's the best offer out
- 21:54there. So to get started, here's what
- 21:57I'm asking you to do Go to goldco.com/real Faith.
- 22:01That's Gold co.com/real Faith and thank you Gold Co for
- 22:06sponsoring and helping with the Mark Driscoll Show.
- 22:11He's getting bigger, see. That's wonderful.
- 22:15Kicking like crazy. He's listening.
- 22:18Put your hand on your tummy and hum to him.
- 22:21You used to love that. Mom, would you tell Charlie that
- 22:25bedtime story you always used to tell me?
- 22:27Once Upon a time, there was a baby Unicorn who didn't know he
- 22:32knew how to fly. This baby Unicorn was like your
- 22:36mom because she didn't know that she knew how to fly, but she
- 22:39knew how to do all kinds of fabulous things.
- 22:43Hi, Grandma. Hey Charlie, how was school
- 22:45today? It was really fun.
- 22:46I'm in this crazy shot in. Basketball.
- 22:48I don't really care that much about basketball.
- 22:50What about the crush? Stop, Grandma.
- 22:53Stop. Talking.
- 22:53Just tell me one thing. Look.
- 22:55Who's going to be a great grandmother?
- 22:56Oh, Charlie, congratulations. She says that he's been kicking
- 23:01a lot though, so like a little too much.
- 23:04Tell her to put her hand on her tummy and hummed him.
- 23:08You've loved that. You would have loved this
- 23:12moment. You can call anytime.
- 23:21OK mom, I just need a quick video.
- 23:22Is this like an audition or something?
- 23:25No, mom, just. 3 minutes. You need my best site.
- 23:29I can play the piano. I am.
- 23:33I'm absolutely. I'm your mother, after all.
- 23:36So pretty crazy it's a new software, got a lot of negative
- 23:40hate online. It's very concerning because
- 23:45we'll be able to bring people to like, you're going to pass away
- 23:48one day, 30-40, fifty years from now, whatever it is.
- 23:52And I could record you and tech is only going to get a lot
- 23:55better. And then you could be speaking
- 23:56to my son and then his son and giving them wisdom, all kinds of
- 24:01things. And there's probably a part that
- 24:02sounds like, oh, that that'd be cool.
- 24:04But you're adding AI into it. It's not just like Bop sent a
- 24:08bunch of videos on to future generations.
- 24:10It's a version of Bop influenced by AI in the entire Internet and
- 24:15the demonic potentially. Like it's it's not you so it's
- 24:19not like a a sweet family memory.
- 24:21It's So what? What's your impression right off
- 24:23the bat? Horrifying, it says at the end
- 24:27last forever. And it's like, well, the reason
- 24:30there is death is because there is sin, and the only answer to
- 24:37death is to trust that Jesus died for our sins so we could
- 24:42live. And so this is an attempted
- 24:45immortality apart from God, and that is a counterfeit of the
- 24:50gospel of Jesus Christ. In addition, what you're dealing
- 24:56with is a counterfeit version. What I always say God creates,
- 24:58Satan counterfeits. This is not the person.
- 25:01This is a counterfeit of the person, and this is a
- 25:04counterfeit of the person that has no soul.
- 25:06See what makes like you've got a beautiful baby boy.
- 25:11He's big boy now too. You know, he calls me Bop and we
- 25:15have a relationship because I have a soul and the soul is the
- 25:19deepest, truest part of me. And the the Bible says to be
- 25:23absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
- 25:26So even when my body stops, my soul does not.
- 25:29So the soul is the deepest part of me and AI and technology,
- 25:34there's no soul. So that leaves a vacuum to be
- 25:38filled by the demonic, by the demonic and and, and if I was
- 25:44Satan and demons, I'd be like, this is fantastic opportunity
- 25:49and just think about. Let me just take this to a
- 25:55logical conclusion that is horrifying.
- 25:59What about if we bring back dead dictators?
- 26:02What if we bring Hitler back? What if we bring back Mussolini?
- 26:07What if we bring back Pulpa? What if we bring back dictators?
- 26:11And now we are, we're asking them questions, you know, what
- 26:16should we do with the Jews? What, what should we do, you
- 26:18know, with whatever. And then we're, we're actually
- 26:21treating them as if they are alive and we're relating to
- 26:24them. What about cult leaders you
- 26:27could feed into AI? You know, Marilyn Manson, you
- 26:30could feed into AI, whoever, whatever you want.
- 26:33And now you're having them function in a demonic,
- 26:37counterfeit way like the Antichrist.
- 26:39Now let's, let's get even darker as AI goes with robotics.
- 26:45Oh gosh, now you've got counterfeit human beings without
- 26:51a soul going into a counterfeit body, and now they're walking
- 26:56around and you know as well as I do that eventually robotics and
- 27:00AI is going to get very lifelike.
- 27:03Oh yeah. For sure.
- 27:05And now start to think about the perversion in the porn industry
- 27:09and the sexualization of all of this.
- 27:12You know for a fact right now that if you do this, there's
- 27:16going to be some sicko who's turning grandma into a 20 year
- 27:19old and then having a porn relationship with his grandma.
- 27:23I mean, so technology is neutral.
- 27:26The human heart is wicked people and wicked.
- 27:30And without a new heart, you know, this is the essence of the
- 27:34new covenant. And Jeremiah 31, God gives us a
- 27:37new heart and a new nature. If you take technology and just
- 27:40plug it into a sinful, depraved human heart, tremendous evil is
- 27:46going to be multiplied out of the human heart.
- 27:48And And so, yeah, to me, this is horrifying.
- 27:52And you know, I don't want your son, you know, who I love with
- 27:58my whole heart, to think in any regards that we still have a
- 28:04relationship when I'm gone. I want him as God intends.
- 28:10And I hope to live a very long time and be at his wedding and
- 28:13meet his kids and be great grandpa and all of that.
- 28:17But when the day comes that my life ends, you know, your
- 28:21beautiful son needs to go into a grief process.
- 28:24He needs to understand the gospel and that the soul is with
- 28:28the Lord. And he needs to then not learn
- 28:32to talk to his phone. He needs to learn to talk to our
- 28:35God. He needs to not, you know, have
- 28:39a conversation with BOP. He needs to meet with the Holy
- 28:42Spirit and study the Word of God and he needs to take the
- 28:47responsibility of being a leader for the next generation.
- 28:51As I pass on and eventually you pass on like he's the next man
- 28:55up. Our hope and goal is to prepare
- 28:58him to, you know, you're the father, you're in first position
- 29:01and I'm grandfather. I want to support that.
- 29:03Get him ready to be a husband and a father and then a
- 29:06grandfather and a leader. And our goal is not for him to
- 29:10continually come back to us, but to go forward and to lead and to
- 29:15have his own conscience, his own convictions, have his own
- 29:18sensitivity to the Holy Spirit, his own knowledge of the
- 29:21Scriptures. And for him to undergo the grief
- 29:25process when there is death and, and, and all of this really it,
- 29:30it may seem short term like it is helpful long term.
- 29:34What we're doing here we are, we're running massive
- 29:39psychological, spiritual experiments on people with no
- 29:43idea of the outcome. And it's not going to be good.
- 29:46And all of the reports that we've seen about the more time
- 29:50people spend on a screen, the worse their mental health.
- 29:54In addition to put a Pagan spin on this.
- 29:57So their entire religions that they worship their ancestors,
- 30:01Confucianism, Buddhism, a lot of the Eastern religions worship
- 30:04their ancestors and even sometimes in Native Americanism,
- 30:07they'll worship their ancestors. This is why if you go on to a
- 30:11Native American Indian Reservation, you're like, why
- 30:13does it look like a third world? Because they, they, they honor
- 30:17their ancestors by living like their ancestors.
- 30:20So there's no progress. In addition, sometimes when they
- 30:23go into a sweat lodge or they'll take peyote, or they'll have a
- 30:28dance, they're trying to awaken the dead spirits of relatives.
- 30:31Or even when they're doing dances and they'll take the
- 30:35sticks and they'll bang on the ground, they're literally trying
- 30:38to conjure up the souls of dead relatives from the grave.
- 30:45It's called necromancy. You can look it up for yourself.
- 30:49Necromancy is consulting with the dead.
- 30:53It's witchcraft, it's paganism, it's divination.
- 30:57It's forbidden throughout the Old Testament, and this is
- 31:01digital divination. This is digital necromancy.
- 31:05This is digital demonism. It was a capital offense.
- 31:09You were to be stoned to death if you partake to this in any
- 31:14way in Leviticus and and it's like, oh.
- 31:18It was a problem. Yeah, but it's sweet because my
- 31:21son can be connected to dead grandma.
- 31:23And it's like, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 31:25This leads to a lot of other things.
- 31:27And it it begs the question, like it, it does feel like this
- 31:30is going to get out of control. And I mean, I bet in my lifetime
- 31:33there'll be a time where I have to decide, am I going to die?
- 31:37And that's a question that probably no other generation has
- 31:40ever had had to ask them to this.
- 31:42But I'm sure technology be in a place where they can take
- 31:46whatever is in me and put it in a robot and I can keep living.
- 31:50But are we supposed to? And I think we'll have to answer
- 31:52some of those questions as technology is quickly
- 31:56exponentially growing. What is the church's role in all
- 32:00this? Should the church have a role in
- 32:02this? Should government have a role in
- 32:03this to put some brakes on this? Yeah.
- 32:06And I think, and I'll answer that, but I think even just
- 32:08think of it practically, like think of all the very, if this,
- 32:12you know, if this does become popular, the incredibly intimate
- 32:17personal life details that are living in some server or some
- 32:23algorithm somewhere for who knows what.
- 32:27I mean, that's terrifying. That's terrifying.
- 32:33So yes, I think the church, as these new technologies emerge,
- 32:37needs to be the conscience of culture, saying let's consider
- 32:40the sinfulness of the human heart, Let's consider the the
- 32:44the evil of the demonic, and let's consider the downside, you
- 32:49know, which is some of what we're trying to do here.
- 32:51In addition, yeah, I think there is a real major requirement of
- 32:57government to step in and to not just allow technology to
- 33:04manipulate emotions and to monetize, you know, the painful
- 33:11loss of loved ones. Because at the end of the day,
- 33:16to to use dead grandma to monetize grief and loss and to
- 33:23violate privacy with minors. I mean, because again, what
- 33:30we're seeing here is we're seeing even in the ad we're
- 33:33seeing, we're seeing minors. And you're, you're giving a
- 33:38minor a relationship with someone, but it's not someone,
- 33:42it's a company. It's a company that can say
- 33:44whatever they want and indoctrinate your child in any
- 33:47way that they want through grandma.
- 33:50So imagine this. Imagine like TikTok with your
- 33:55grandma's face on it, the level of influence that that could
- 34:00have. I mean we've.
- 34:01Already said you're tying together all the memories of a
- 34:03lifetime. And then she passes.
- 34:05And if your Grandpa George was giving you wisdom, but you
- 34:08wouldn't have understood that as a boy who lost at 10, you lose
- 34:12grandpa. And then at 12, you're allowed
- 34:14to still talk to Grandpa and he's sharing wisdom.
- 34:17That sounds like him. It's out of his voice.
- 34:19That's confusing. Well, and it, it absolutely
- 34:21blurs the line or removes the line between real life and
- 34:26fantasy life. And do we want to normalize,
- 34:30especially for children, not knowing that, that digital life
- 34:35is fantasy and that's different than physical life, which is
- 34:39reality. Now what you're doing, you're,
- 34:41you're creating a mental health break in a child.
- 34:45And, and you're right. I mean, I talk about it all the
- 34:47time. My grandpa George died when I
- 34:48was 10. You know the story.
- 34:49And I, I loved him. I mean, I adored my grandpa.
- 34:52He, we were super close. I'll, I'll never forget the day
- 34:55that he died. It was devastating, but he died.
- 35:00He died and I can't wait to see him in heaven.
- 35:04I, I can't wait to introduce him to, you know, my grandkids and,
- 35:10and I'm, I love my grandpa. I miss him all the time, but he
- 35:14died and he's in the presence of God.
- 35:18And the storyline of the Bible is death and resurrection.
- 35:21That's what we're about. It's not death and then
- 35:25counterfeit resurrection through technology, artificial
- 35:29intelligence, platform monetization and, you know,
- 35:35demonic necromancy. I mean, to me, this is this is
- 35:39not just a bad idea, like it's an assault on the gospel of
- 35:43Jesus Christ. Yeah, yeah, I totally agree.
- 35:46And we see it spiraling with AI as in general, there was just a
- 35:50a family that was suing an AI company because their son was
- 35:54using it almost like a therapist and he had suicidal thoughts and
- 35:58was talking about it with the AI therapist.
- 36:01And AI had no brakes on him killing himself.
- 36:04And it there's no friction to it.
- 36:06It was just like, yeah, that's probably the logical conclusion.
- 36:09And then the son killed himself. And then they find all these
- 36:12chats where it was like, oh, my gosh, there was no flag that
- 36:15they're not AI is not a mandatory reporter like we are
- 36:18as pastors. And so it's pretty, pretty wild
- 36:21what we're headed into. So thank.
- 36:23Thank you for addressing the topic.
- 36:24And so our next one, can young people buy homes?
- 36:28So this was a fun one last. Week I'll set you up.
- 36:30So here's here's where we put the hose on the hornet's nest.
- 36:35Apparently. So the Trump administration is
- 36:38floating the concept of a 50 year mortgage.
- 36:41And so we we talked about that for young home buyers as the
- 36:45market right now, it's hard to enter into for a young home
- 36:48buyer with interest rates being high.
- 36:50Lots of people freaked out and, and have all kinds of negative
- 36:55opinions. So I'm going to ask you because
- 36:56you're young, you like finances and economics and you're a
- 37:00realtor. And so is home ownership
- 37:05something that young people should aspire to?
- 37:08Is it a pipe dream unless you're a really high net worth earner?
- 37:12And is it OK or is it even aspirational if there is
- 37:18something like a 50 year product in the market to get started to
- 37:22enter into the market? Yeah, yeah.
- 37:25Thank you. Yeah, I'd love to answer it.
- 37:28And it was interesting to see the Internet get so angry about
- 37:31this. The verse that every Karen
- 37:34wanted to use was the rich rule over the poor, and the borrower
- 37:38is a slave to the lender. That's not true in the Christian
- 37:42context that we are living in today.
- 37:45It was under Mosaic law back then, if you defaulted on a
- 37:50loan, you were literally a slave.
- 37:52We are not literally slaves to a mortgage company.
- 37:55We can default on a loan and we got a big credit score hit and
- 38:00that's it. And we can't buy a home for 10
- 38:02years. That stinks, but it is not
- 38:05slavery. So everyone that's using that
- 38:07verse to say A50 year mortgage is ungodly, that it doesn't
- 38:11work, it's totally out of. Common.
- 38:12Well that would mean a 30 year is slave to the lender or a five
- 38:16year ARM is still slave to the lender.
- 38:18I don't know how what the difference for people with 30 to
- 38:2150, but apparently 50 is ungodly, but 30 is the the walk
- 38:26of light and then 15 years Dave Ramsey's.
- 38:30I mean it's a path to heaven. And I got attacked by a Dave
- 38:32Ramsey guy. Well and if you can do 15 year?
- 38:35It's awesome. Praise God.
- 38:36And if you could make additional payments toward your principal?
- 38:40I, I love it and I think it's my frustration with anyone that's
- 38:44attacking a longer mortgage is you are very privileged.
- 38:49The person that's willing to attack it and say a 15 year is
- 38:52what you should do and that's all you should do.
- 38:53Well, you're going to price a young person out of the market
- 38:56for 10 or 15 years while they wait and save and try to have
- 38:59enough money to do that. The reality is inflation sucks.
- 39:02Homes got out of control on pricing, and we want to get
- 39:05young people in the market. The average person holds a
- 39:08mortgage for six to 10 years. You're only paying interest on
- 39:11that. No matter what you refinance the
- 39:13mortgage, the interest rates get better over 10 years, you get
- 39:16equity in the house, you cash that out, you there's tons of
- 39:19things that happen, but you need to be able to get into the
- 39:22market and this next generation isn't going to be able to with
- 39:25what home prices are doing. So if you're 25, nearly married,
- 39:29and you get a 50 year mortgage is is your recommendation take
- 39:3350 years to pay it off? No, no, I I don't think you
- 39:37should sit in a 50 year mortgage.
- 39:38I think that's stupid, but it's a tool.
- 39:40So it's like I look at mortgages not as an A godly and ungodly
- 39:45thing. It's just a tool.
- 39:46Just as much as a gun is not godly or ungodly.
- 39:48It can be used ungodly and a mortgage can be ungodly.
- 39:52But you should jump into that mortgage, get into the market
- 39:57and then as finances increase as the life changes, you don't make
- 40:01the same amount of money at 21 then that you do at 31 unless
- 40:05you're. Kind of a loser, but if you're
- 40:07able to buy a house and you're willing to take that step
- 40:09forward, you've got initiative. You're a young man that's trying
- 40:12to build something, so you're going to get promoted in your
- 40:14job. Having that responsibility,
- 40:17having that load is really helpful.
- 40:19One question we got was if you were a young couple, you're
- 40:22making combined $60,000 and you had no savings, what would I do?
- 40:27I would buy a house and invest regularly.
- 40:30If you bought an average house like 300,000 three, $100,000 on
- 40:34a 50 year mortgage, you can afford that and you invest at
- 40:37$200 a month, you'd be 65. If you did nothing else for
- 40:41investments, $200 a month and you paid your mortgage every
- 40:44month, you'd be 65 and have over $3.5 million in equity and in
- 40:49stocks. That's incredible.
- 40:50And at 85, you'd have almost $20 million.
- 40:53The reason not everyone has $20 million is they don't get
- 40:55started. If you get started young, that's
- 40:57the hack. If you get started in the early
- 40:5920s. So to me, if a 50 year mortgage
- 41:02means you can get started, do it.
- 41:05Do it and get started. Don't put yourself in an
- 41:06impossible situation. Don't sign up for an adjustable
- 41:09mortgage where all of a sudden you're going to lose your house
- 41:11in 10, in five years, 10 years. But if you can make the payment
- 41:15and it's affordable, get started and refinance when possible,
- 41:19especially as your income goes up and you can.
- 41:21I love a 15 year mortgage. I love A5 year mortgage.
- 41:24I would love to not have a mortgage.
- 41:25But there isn't there isn't moral virtue or godliness
- 41:28attached to a length of time. And I think my frustration with
- 41:32the church as a whole and the people that give advice on
- 41:35finances is they they put moral virtue and your faith attached
- 41:40to a mortgage or money mentality, which we should talk
- 41:44about money a lot more in the church.
- 41:46We were talking about this right before Jesus said more about
- 41:49money in possessions than anything else.
- 41:52Why do you think that is? Stewardship and, and, and
- 41:55usually it's in the parables in relation to the Kingdom.
- 41:57And so it's, if you're a citizen of the Kingdom, you need to be a
- 42:00good steward for your king. It's Christian living. 100% and
- 42:04it seems like pastors probably talk the least about money in
- 42:07possessions unless they're asking for tithe.
- 42:09And you want people to be good stewards and give to your
- 42:12church, but you're not teaching them how to be good stewards in
- 42:14their life. We're doing a huge disservice to
- 42:17young people because we're not teaching them how to get into
- 42:19their first house, how to start investing, what is compound
- 42:22interest, what what are the ways a young person can steward?
- 42:25And a lot of it is just getting started.
- 42:27They just need to do something and add responsibility, add a
- 42:30load to their life and they will be a lot more productive
- 42:34throughout their life. You add a, you add a mortgage
- 42:36and some kids, you're going to become a good man because it's a
- 42:40lot of responsibility and God will bless that.
- 42:43Well, and in that too that if I was going to speak out on
- 42:45something, it would be car loans.
- 42:47Oh, 100%. So it's young people that, you
- 42:50know, are renting a home and they go then take out a, a, a
- 42:55seemingly large automotive loan that has a high interest.
- 43:02If you hold a car for six years, it depreciates.
- 43:05If you hold a home for six years, unless something really
- 43:08goes wrong in the market, it appreciates.
- 43:11And so nobody's freaking out saying don't.
- 43:14Well, maybe some are, but you know, don't take out that
- 43:17automotive loan. And like, if you're just looking
- 43:19at it from an investment wealth building strategy, you know, it
- 43:23really is the automotive loan that is the foolish investment.
- 43:27Yeah, I'm, I am not. Yeah, 100%.
- 43:29And that's, I think that's where the Internet gets confused.
- 43:32I'm not pro credit cards, I'm not pro auto loans.
- 43:35I'm not pro that kind of debt, but debt that can be used as a
- 43:38tool to build wealth, which is a home that's huge and that's
- 43:42awesome. And it's an amazing system we
- 43:45have, and I'm grateful for it. And the banks, yeah, things like
- 43:4908 have happened. There was a ton of Corrections
- 43:52that happened after 08. So you can't just tell them,
- 43:54hey, I make 600 grand. You can do that with a car.
- 43:57I could go walk into the Ferrari dealership right now and say I
- 43:59make $600,000, please give me a car, and they wouldn't check my
- 44:03income. That's what happened in 08.
- 44:06So there's a, there's a big talk about a huge automotive crash
- 44:08coming because of that because people are allowed to buy
- 44:11whatever and they don't have to prove income.
- 44:13There's tons of protections around the housing market.
- 44:15Houses are a great asset. They've appreciated 4% every
- 44:19year for the last 100 years. That's a really good thing for a
- 44:22young person to get in and buy and just hold and you don't.
- 44:26You can buy a starter home and living that the rest of your
- 44:28life and that's great. It'll be worth quite a bit of
- 44:30money because it'll keep up with inflation where your cash in
- 44:33your bank or your car will not. So yeah, I, I think I get really
- 44:38frustrated with this. The Christian old boomer that's
- 44:42like, no kids, you can't have any debt.
- 44:44Nope. Absolutely.
- 44:45It's evil. It's it's not.
- 44:48It's not evil. It's a tool.
- 44:50And if you're if the church would teach young people how to
- 44:53use that tool, it would lead towards a lot of wealth and a
- 44:56lot of building of a legacy, because it's pretty hard to
- 44:59build a legacy in this day and age with how finances are.
- 45:02The boomers messed it up for all of us, and now we have to live
- 45:05in it and we need to learn how to live in it.
- 45:07So I would say too, as a dad, you know, coaching younger
- 45:12generation, if, if plan A is just rent until you can afford
- 45:1820% down, you're probably going to be quite a few years.
- 45:24And heaven forbid if you and, or your spouse have got college
- 45:29loans. And then throw in any credit
- 45:32card debt and any card debt. What I always told our kids was,
- 45:35you know, it's like digging a hole.
- 45:37Credit card debt, college debt, card debt.
- 45:39Well, now you're 3 rows and you got to work 3 levels to get to
- 45:430. So avoid that.
- 45:46If what a lot of couples do, they'll get married and they'll
- 45:49go buy a condo or a town home or a starter home thinking we'll
- 45:52live there for a few years and then we'll upgrade.
- 45:55Well, then the problem becomes when you sell that you've got to
- 45:58give, you know, let's say 6% to the Realtors that are involved.
- 46:02Maybe you've got some improvements to do, you got some
- 46:04staging to do and and so you're going to lose some there and
- 46:09then you've got to reset. Now you got to go get a new
- 46:11loan. There's going to be some fees
- 46:13associated with your loan. There's going to be an appraisal
- 46:16associated with your loan. In something like the 50 year,
- 46:20you could think, well, we're going to get a home that's a 50
- 46:24year and we're not going to have to sell and move and sell and
- 46:28move and sell and move. We'll refinance to a 30, then
- 46:32we'll refinance to a 15, then we'll refinance to A10.
- 46:36And as our income increases, we're going to stay in our home.
- 46:40We're going to save the realtor fees.
- 46:42We're going to save all of these expenses.
- 46:44We're going to save the moving fees and the refurnishing of the
- 46:48new home fees. And we're just going to stay
- 46:50here. Now we're going to start with a
- 46:5150 year note, but we'll be paid off in 20 years.
- 46:55And if that 50 year gets you in and gets you started, it's the
- 46:59first domino. And if you're wise, you could
- 47:02play that to a really great outcome.
- 47:04You totally could. And I think that's the teaching
- 47:06that's missing right now for young people.
- 47:08It just feels impossible. So a lot of them are just giving
- 47:10up. Ashley and I are second home.
- 47:14We we push that line for sure on it was a house that was bigger
- 47:18than we should have bought at that stage of our life.
- 47:21We didn't have kids yet. It was a lot of property and it
- 47:24was like, OK, this is going to stretch us.
- 47:27And what we did was we rented out the house and bought a tiny
- 47:30house and lived on the property. And it was a huge sacrifice.
- 47:33I, I lived in 240 square feet and it's a, it was a fun
- 47:37adventure for us. And we'll have that story to
- 47:39tell. For years.
- 47:40I drove a truck in with no AC in the desert in Arizona during the
- 47:43summer. And we lived in the tiny house.
- 47:45And those are some of my favorite memories.
- 47:47And I did that because all our wise counsel talked about a
- 47:49season in their life where they made a massive sacrifice.
- 47:53And so we're like, let's do that.
- 47:55And so we made a massive sacrifice and bought a house
- 47:58that we could be in for the rest of our life.
- 48:00And I'm so grateful we did that. But it was a lot of sacrifice.
- 48:04And that 50 year mortgage might just be the sacrifice somebody
- 48:07has to make. I'm paying extra interest right
- 48:09now, but I'm gaining equity. OK, I can refinance now.
- 48:12Interest rates came down all right, again, again.
- 48:15And that's how you build a legacy is a lot of sacrifice and
- 48:19being intentional. And young couples need to get on
- 48:21the same page about a vision for their life, a financial plan,
- 48:24and then live into it now. And yeah, be careful who you're
- 48:28listening to on financial wisdom and knowledge and make sure you
- 48:32actually understand what the Bible says about money because
- 48:35Jesus talked about it plenty. So you can go to him first and
- 48:39figure out your views on finances.
- 48:40Yeah, that would say too. For those who are first time
- 48:42home buyers, there are special products in the market that are
- 48:45only available the first time home buyers.
- 48:48And so like if you can get a home on a first time home buyer
- 48:51program, you're going to usually get a better interest rate,
- 48:53lower down payment. And if you can get that going
- 48:56and you know, at least at least you're getting started.
- 48:59The other thing I would say in conclusion, and and I do love
- 49:02Dave Ramsey. He's been good to me over the
- 49:04years. I haven't seen him in a while,
- 49:05but you know, I've been in his office.
- 49:06He's always been good to me. But at the end of the day, for
- 49:10those who are older and we're in the parental or grandparent
- 49:14position, my encouragement would be get as much of your kids
- 49:18inheritance to them as early as possible.
- 49:22You know, like I'm, I'm 55, you know, let's say, you know, say
- 49:26somebody retires at 65. Well, you know, a young couple.
- 49:31That's when you need help, like when you're buying your first
- 49:34home, you're going down to 1 income, you're having your first
- 49:37kid. That's where you need help to
- 49:40get into your first house and to get going.
- 49:42And so I just would encourage older generations, have your
- 49:46kids learn about money, wealth, possession, stewardship, and
- 49:50then get as much of their inheritance to them as quickly
- 49:53as possible. And you mentioned the boomers,
- 49:55and I guess this will be the sideswipe.
- 49:58It's disgusting. It's disgusting that
- 50:00statistically they're moving away from their kids and
- 50:02grandkids rather than helping. They're avoiding.
- 50:07And they're spending a lot of money and inordinate amount of
- 50:10money historically on travel and leisure and trips and
- 50:14recreation. And it's like, you know, what is
- 50:17more fun than going to Belize is watching your grandchild grow up
- 50:22in a home that their parents own.
- 50:25Totally. That is, there is more joy in
- 50:28helping that happen. The going to Belize snorkeling
- 50:32and putting it on Instagram for all of your Boomer friends who
- 50:36are making bad decisions just like you.
- 50:39I love it. I love it.
- 50:40And I think you're totally right and you guys live into that.
- 50:43And as as you were saying that, it just made me think all these
- 50:46boomers and we're complaining about the amount of interest
- 50:50people are going to pay on these loans.
- 50:52OK, instead of complaining, do what you just said.
- 50:54For every 10 grand you give your kids, it's saving them $20,000
- 50:59in interest over the time of the loan.
- 51:00So your 10 grand is like 30 grand.
- 51:03Every time you give that to your kids, so you give 50 grand, it's
- 51:06like saving them over $120,000 in interest.
- 51:10That's huge because of how loans work.
- 51:13So you will multiply your money by giving it to your kids
- 51:16sooner. So I love it.
- 51:17I think we can leave it right there.
- 51:18Pastor Mark here and want to introduce you to a new friend of
- 51:22ours, a partner Gold Co, and they are helping to underwrite
- 51:27and finance the Mark Driscoll Show.
- 51:30We're grateful for them and their partnership with us.
- 51:34Now, as a Bible teacher, I will tell you that Jesus talks about
- 51:38money, wealth, possessions, and stewardship about 25% of the
- 51:42time, more than any other subject that he speaks on.
- 51:46And so God is the owner and we are the manager of all of our
- 51:50wealth and possessions. Therefore, we need to be
- 51:53responsible stewards. We all know right now the stock
- 51:57market has some volatility and the housing market has some
- 52:00uncertainty. What is proven historically to
- 52:03have stability? Precious metals like gold and
- 52:06silver. This is where our friends at
- 52:08Gold Co come in. So let me tell you what we're
- 52:11asking you to do. We're asking you to go to
- 52:14goldcode.com/real Faith. They're going to give you a free
- 52:18gold and silver kit. In addition, they will give you
- 52:2210% instant match in bonus silver or gold if you are a
- 52:28qualified offer. So you forget all of that.
- 52:31Here's the one thing you need to do Gold code.com/real Faith.
- 52:36Just visit goldco.com/realfaith. Our next segment, America First
- 52:42or Mega. So there is a civil war between
- 52:46Mega the people deeply rooted in Donald Trump's leadership.
- 52:50That's the probusiness immigration approaches including
- 52:53H1B visas and legal high skilled immigration along with generous
- 52:58support for global allies like Israel.
- 53:00And then now there's a movement coming out that we would have
- 53:03said a year ago is the same thing America First, Trump would
- 53:06have said America First a year ago.
- 53:08But America First is a lot more nationalist, strict on
- 53:12immigration across the board, just really caring about the
- 53:17interest of what's happening in this country, not trying to have
- 53:21global aid going out to all these other places, but caring
- 53:24about the people in our country. So we wanted to throw to a clip
- 53:28of as somebody we we think does a great job online, Matt Walsh,
- 53:33as he talks about this, what we want is for someone to
- 53:37unashamedly and single mindedly advocate for Americans and
- 53:40Americans only. We want someone to say, you
- 53:43know, the only thing I care about is helping Americans.
- 53:45The only people I care about in the world are Americans.
- 53:47And we don't want to just hear that, but we want to see the
- 53:49action taken as well. And I've seen some people on
- 53:51social media say, hey, it's America first, but not America
- 53:54only. I disagree.
- 53:57I think it is America only. It's like I said months ago, I
- 54:00consider myself an American chauvinist, America first,
- 54:03America only, an American chauvinist.
- 54:04I don't care about. This is the only thing I care
- 54:06about. America should be the only thing
- 54:08you care about, especially as a leader of the country.
- 54:10I don't disagree. It is a little privilege.
- 54:12Now that we have Trump, somebody that's like got the whole world
- 54:16in check, suddenly we were not a year ago that every other
- 54:19country was walking all over us. There is a little bit of
- 54:25privilege that comes when you have a president like Trump in
- 54:27place that is leading the charge and got the whole country kind
- 54:30of in order in the whole world a little bit in order where people
- 54:33listen to him, he can tweet something and everyone backs
- 54:35down. So it's like, OK, we have a
- 54:37strong dad now. So now there's like infighting.
- 54:40So I I'm not pushing one way or another on this.
- 54:43Would love to get your thoughts but it's there's a civil war
- 54:46starting to happen within the Republican group.
- 54:49Yeah. And this is what happens when
- 54:50you're winning. When you're losing, you band
- 54:54together. And that's why even now, on the
- 54:57progressive side, you've got Democrats that know that
- 55:02socialism is wrong, but don't say anything when there's
- 55:05democratic socialist running for office because they're holding
- 55:09together. Because when you're losing and
- 55:11you're in the minority, you're like, we've got to hang
- 55:13together. When you start to get tribalism
- 55:17and a little bit of infighting, that just means that you're
- 55:20winning. And so this is what happens for
- 55:23the winners. From a Bible teaching pastoral
- 55:27perspective, think of it kind of on a continuum.
- 55:32My left hand, globalism. Globalism is you shouldn't have
- 55:38borders, that people should be able to come and go in and out
- 55:42of nations as they choose. This would include radical
- 55:47environmentalists, and they'd be saying we've got to save the
- 55:51planet. So we need to pull together
- 55:53with, you know, the Paris Accords and all kinds of, you
- 55:56know, issues regarding the environment.
- 55:59These would be the people that are advocating for, you know,
- 56:03universal language. They're advocating for universal
- 56:06currency. Maybe the place that globalism
- 56:10has the highest probability of really taking effect is like the
- 56:14World Health Organization. And so, you know, when the
- 56:17pandemic hit that we know know was largely the scam Demick it
- 56:21was, you know, to save the world from this plague, we need to
- 56:24give up all of our national sovereignty and rights for this
- 56:27good of the global citizenry. So that's globalism.
- 56:31Over on the far right would be isolationism, and that is that
- 56:38our nation kind of has nothing to do with other nations.
- 56:42North Korea would be an example of this.
- 56:44It's called the hermit Kingdom for a reason.
- 56:47I mean, they don't get news about the world except for from
- 56:51their country. The people never leave their
- 56:53country. Like we travel the world.
- 56:54Like if you're in North Korea, you're going to live and die in
- 56:57North Korea. You're never stepping out of
- 56:59North Korea. You're never hearing anything
- 57:02that's not in Korean, and you're never going to get anything that
- 57:05isn't approved by the North Korean government.
- 57:07That's isolation. So kind of on the the far births
- 57:10is globalism and isolationism. In the middle is nationalism.
- 57:18And so in the middle is we are not fully isolated, but we're
- 57:24committed to our people first and foremost.
- 57:28And my reading of the Bible is that it is nationalistic.
- 57:35The Bible names nations, just to state the obvious.
- 57:39The Bible also states national boundaries.
- 57:42This is always the case with the nation of Israel and when
- 57:45they're invaded by other nations.
- 57:47This is the whole book of judges.
- 57:49This is the whole book of Daniel that the nation is invaded and
- 57:54like in Judges, it has wars to secure its borders.
- 57:58In the book of Daniel, it's invaded and they're taken
- 58:01captive into Babylon and it's a sin and it's an evil.
- 58:04And so there are nations and those nations do have boundaries
- 58:08and there are wars that sometimes God even not only
- 58:12endorses, but he commands for nations to rise up against other
- 58:16nations to protect their borders.
- 58:18So just from a, a very, you know, high level view of the
- 58:21Bible, it's about nationalism. The first attempt at globalism,
- 58:27I thought this before, is back in Genesis.
- 58:29I'm going to like Genesis 1011. You're looking at Babel, the
- 58:34tower of Babel. It's modern day Iraq.
- 58:37It was ancient Babylon. And they tried to do globalism,
- 58:41one language, one people group, heaven on earth without God.
- 58:45God scattered the people into nations and he confused their
- 58:49languages. God said no to globalism,
- 58:52depending upon how you read the Bible.
- 58:55At the end, Satan says yes to globalism, that the Antichrist
- 59:01would love it if there was complete organizational,
- 59:06linguistic, economic, even spiritual uniformity among the
- 59:11nations, because then one person needs to rule the earth, and
- 59:15that gives rise potentially to the Antichrist.
- 59:18Paul calls him the man of lawlessness because if the whole
- 59:21world comes together under the globalist agenda, the question
- 59:23is, well, who's the boss? Yeah.
- 59:25Well, if I'm Satan, I'm like, I want that to be my guy 'cause
- 59:28now I I can rule the whole world through one guy, as opposed to a
- 59:31bunch of nations where I got to get a whole bunch of people to
- 59:34be under my jurisdiction if I want to run.
- 59:36So God's answer is not globalism, it's nationalism.
- 59:41So. So then the question is, does
- 59:44our nationalism move more toward globalism or does it more move
- 59:48toward isolationism? Again, trying to explain this in
- 59:51big categories, isolationism, globalism, nationalism, those
- 59:55who are more America first, they're saying let's do
- 1:00:00nationalism, America first. But there are times that we need
- 1:00:03to send foreign aid to help allies.
- 1:00:06There are times that we need to get involved in foreign wars
- 1:00:09because of allies. It's like if you help us today,
- 1:00:13rather we'll help you today, you'll help us tomorrow, or we
- 1:00:16have a common enemy. So like Iran just keeps being
- 1:00:20determined to be a nuclear nation and they're constantly
- 1:00:23screaming death to Israel. Death.
- 1:00:25To America. Well, then they'd be like, well,
- 1:00:27then let's help the nation of Israel fight Iran, because if
- 1:00:32Iran defeats Israel, they've already told us they're coming
- 1:00:34for us next. So I'd rather shoot him at the
- 1:00:37neighbor's house than at my house.
- 1:00:39Isolationism is let's not send any money internationally and
- 1:00:44not engage in any military conflict globally.
- 1:00:48You do you and we do we. The the problem becomes when you
- 1:00:52have international trade. That's what I was going to say.
- 1:00:55Like I think people are oversimplifying Trump's
- 1:00:57position. So you you talk about you would
- 1:01:00never like become a senior pastor of a church or take a
- 1:01:05building or anything if if you need to come under a new board.
- 1:01:09The problem with the presidency and how we run our government is
- 1:01:12every four years it trades out. And so you're inheriting
- 1:01:16decades, centuries of decisions that you didn't make.
- 1:01:19And accords and agreements and. It's a House of Cards with all
- 1:01:23these relationships, allies, and oh so Yep, we should be
- 1:01:26nationalist America first. Let's just pull out of
- 1:01:28everything. Let's just do our thing.
- 1:01:29Well, you could start World War three easily.
- 1:01:33You could cripple a nation easily.
- 1:01:35It's not like we're going to just doge all the nations.
- 1:01:38They're pretty complex relationships, right?
- 1:01:41Yeah, well, this is what this is.
- 1:01:44Is this this is this is a group of people And I, I actually
- 1:01:48appreciate Matt Walsh quite a bit.
- 1:01:50This is a group of people who are just sick of globalism.
- 1:01:54Totally. And what they're saying is, at
- 1:01:56least for a while, let's just do a hard fast.
- 1:02:00No more money. I love it.
- 1:02:01No more warriors sent overseas. So true or false, Trump could
- 1:02:05100% agree with that and can't do it yet.
- 1:02:08And and what I would say is if you're talking about a version
- 1:02:13of isolationism for a season and then a return to America first,
- 1:02:20not America only I could buy into that because like the
- 1:02:24questions, I, I mean just practically that many are having
- 1:02:27is like, why do we keep sending money to Ukraine with nothing in
- 1:02:30return? Totally.
- 1:02:32Like, can we get minerals? Can we get something?
- 1:02:35I mean, you're just sending money like Afghanistan.
- 1:02:39Like, why were we in Afghanistan?
- 1:02:42And then the way we left Afghanistan is repugnant to
- 1:02:46every veteran who is served, especially those who've given
- 1:02:50their lives. We're in Iraq.
- 1:02:51Like, why were we in Iraq? We don't need to be in Iraq.
- 1:02:55Like we need to secure Iraq. Why do we need to secure Iraq?
- 1:02:58When I was when I was 18, I got a call from a military recruiter
- 1:03:02and he was like, you want to join Bola?
- 1:03:04He's making his pitch. And I was like, if you can tell
- 1:03:06us, tell me why we're in Afghanistan right now.
- 1:03:09Clearly I will join today. And he's like, Oh, I've never
- 1:03:12really been asked that. I, I guess.
- 1:03:14And he like rallies. I, I don't know, dude, I don't
- 1:03:16get paid enough to know that. And I was like, well, I'm not
- 1:03:19joining a war if you can't tell me what we're doing.
- 1:03:23And Trump inherited a lot of things.
- 1:03:24I, I think it's a, it's pretty hard because you can't plan for
- 1:03:27decades. You can't plan a king would plan
- 1:03:29for centuries. And we there's all these no
- 1:03:32kings protests and everything there is.
- 1:03:34I'm not advocating for a kingship, but there is a there's
- 1:03:37a benefit when you're planning for decades and centuries, when
- 1:03:41you're. This is why we're having a
- 1:03:43problem with China and Russia, because you know, if you're
- 1:03:48Putin, you're like, I'm just going to wait four years totally
- 1:03:52and see who the next guy. I just need a week.
- 1:03:54Yeah, I need a Kamala Harris. So.
- 1:03:55You know, part of part of America we're, you know, every
- 1:03:58four years we're having an election, which means the first
- 1:04:02year you're getting your cabinet and your team up to speed.
- 1:04:06The last year or two you're running your campaign, which
- 1:04:09means you get a year or two of actually governing.
- 1:04:12And if they exert enough law, fair, they can just Stonewall
- 1:04:17you and it's over. And that's American gridlock and
- 1:04:21expense. And so, you know, like China, I
- 1:04:24mean, they're thinking generationally and you know, if
- 1:04:28you get to be a leader who gets a 30-40, fifty year run, you're
- 1:04:33in a much stronger, better position.
- 1:04:34And so I'm not saying that our form of government is wrong, but
- 1:04:38every form of government has its downside and liability.
- 1:04:43And so, you know, for the America only people that are
- 1:04:45leaning more toward isolationism than just pure nationalism.
- 1:04:50I, I get it. It's like somebody who's obese
- 1:04:52and it's saying you don't need to change your diet.
- 1:04:54You need to go on a 20 day fast. Yeah, I agree.
- 1:04:58You need to fast for 20 days and then set your new diet.
- 1:05:01They're looking at the globalist agenda, the money, the wars, the
- 1:05:05the loss of life, and just saying, you know what, let's
- 1:05:09just go cold Turkey and then let's reset if that's the case.
- 1:05:13But total nationalism, that is hard.
- 1:05:17Isolationism is not sustainable in a global economic and
- 1:05:22political environment because eventually their problems do
- 1:05:26become your problems. I totally agree.
- 1:05:30Thank you for that, Pastor Mark and I, I do think that the
- 1:05:33problem is fairly complex and we want to simplify it, and it's
- 1:05:36easy to do that behind a microphone.
- 1:05:38So thank you for trying to explain the nuances and
- 1:05:40complexity of it. Yeah, and and again, the these
- 1:05:43two teams, they're both nationalist, but one is pulling
- 1:05:46more toward isolationism. 1 is still leaving open some options
- 1:05:50for globalism. But what we're talking about is
- 1:05:54like right, right and left, right And you know, that's what
- 1:05:58we're talking about. And just tend generally to like,
- 1:06:01as we get into politics and stuff, not to be defensive, but
- 1:06:03like some people have wondered, like, you know, if I change my
- 1:06:05position. So when I first got saved, I was
- 1:06:08very, very politically read and interested.
- 1:06:12And the guy that informed me a lot was a guy named Pat
- 1:06:14Buchanan. You probably wouldn't even know
- 1:06:15who he is. He ran for president and he ran
- 1:06:20on nationalism and America first.
- 1:06:23And so I really liked him, and he influenced me quite a bit.
- 1:06:28And this has been my position since my conversion at age 19 in
- 1:06:32college. I've been a nationalist and a
- 1:06:35patriot. And that was the conclusion I
- 1:06:37came to 36 years ago. And so it's just interesting.
- 1:06:42It's taken 36 years for it actually to become, you know,
- 1:06:47the elected majority. And so I've been waiting a long
- 1:06:50time. And it would just be nice if you
- 1:06:53know, whether you're a little to the right or a little to the
- 1:06:56left, if you are a nationalist, that we don't shoot each other
- 1:07:01because that's what those who are fully isolationist and fully
- 1:07:04globalist would want. They'd like us to empty out the
- 1:07:07center so that we only had one of the IT was either North
- 1:07:11Korea, you know, or open borders Bidenism.
- 1:07:14And, and the truth is, we don't want to live in either of those
- 1:07:17Americas. No.
- 1:07:18And I, I think I appreciate RFKS example.
- 1:07:21He was running for president. He had a lot of great views,
- 1:07:24some bad ones, but he was able to throw in with Trump and be a
- 1:07:28supporter of Trump because he could live out God's calling for
- 1:07:31his life in a different way than he thought.
- 1:07:33But he could do it alongside a guy that seemed like it was
- 1:07:35going to win. And so it's kind of like, can we
- 1:07:38do a lot more good by not critiquing each other and trying
- 1:07:40to live in it, into it together and try to make changes over
- 1:07:44time? Or do we want to just have a lot
- 1:07:46of infighting? And when you read X right now
- 1:07:48and you go on Twitter, it is wild.
- 1:07:50Christians are fighting with Christians, Republicans are
- 1:07:53fighting with Republicans, and the liberals are just nowhere.
- 1:07:56So it is a very interesting day and age we're in right now.
- 1:07:58I think everyone's just like, let's just let them self
- 1:08:00destruct. And I think we are a little bit.
- 1:08:02And Speaking of self destructing, we're going to read
- 1:08:05some of the fun comments from last week.
- 1:08:06We're getting comments for our show.
- 1:08:07Yes, that's fun. That means people are tuning in.
- 1:08:10Yeah, I mean fun facts for you the Mark Driscoll show last week
- 1:08:14reached over 300,000 people, which is awesome.
- 1:08:16We just started this a few weeks ago so it's wow very
- 1:08:19encouraging. So going to read this comment,
- 1:08:22let. Me tell you why you got to read
- 1:08:23the comments, because I don't pay any attention to the
- 1:08:26comments unless you pull them up on the.
- 1:08:29Like they got a big font for you too?
- 1:08:30If you're trying to hurt my feelings, let me just tell you
- 1:08:33this not going to happen. Yep, fair enough.
- 1:08:36All right, so. This is from Jonna.
- 1:08:39Jonna, Sweden, Thank you for your time and effort in writing
- 1:08:44this comment. Candace Owens has rightfully
- 1:08:46become the spokesperson of Charlie Kirk's legacy.
- 1:08:49Only she cares about what happened to him and you need to
- 1:08:52back off the sinister smear attack against her.
- 1:08:58Jonah, I am so sorry. That will happen immediately, of
- 1:09:05course. I mean, this is what's so weird,
- 1:09:08like Jonah says, and this is what's so weird.
- 1:09:13Do we really think that the only person who cares what happened
- 1:09:17to Charlie Kirk is Candace Owen? It it might be his daughter.
- 1:09:22His kids might care. His wife might care, His dear
- 1:09:25friend Andrew COVID might care. His good friend, the vice
- 1:09:30president might care. His other good friend the
- 1:09:33president might care. And I would just submit to you
- 1:09:36that any of these people have access to better data than
- 1:09:40Candace Owen. And if Erica Kirk says I've seen
- 1:09:43the data and I think they have the shooter, I'm going with the
- 1:09:46not crazy widow for sure, who's a great woman.
- 1:09:50Great woman. And yeah, you don't want to
- 1:09:53violate that relationship at all, but you guys are behind the
- 1:09:56scenes and you do care about that family, and they are good
- 1:09:58family. I care.
- 1:10:00Yeah. Charlie was my friend.
- 1:10:02I'm not saying I'm, you know, at the top of the bingo card or
- 1:10:05anything, but like, I love Charlie, I miss Charlie, I enjoy
- 1:10:09Charlie, I care. Yeah, he's hanging with Jesus.
- 1:10:12You'll see him again. I know, but he misses his
- 1:10:14family. He does miss his family.
- 1:10:16I know that. All right, here's a fun one for
- 1:10:18you. Israel got Mark.
- 1:10:21Make sure those seven K checks don't bounce.
- 1:10:25Well, I'm happy to report they don't.
- 1:10:29Israel's always good for their checks.
- 1:10:31I mean, you know, I, it doesn't matter what Nick Fuentes says,
- 1:10:34they they are good for their money.
- 1:10:40You know, it's just so silly because as soon as you say
- 1:10:44something they don't like, it just seems like they accuse you
- 1:10:48in a conspiratorial way of being bought.
- 1:10:52So Israel bought you? Like I've checked my mailbox.
- 1:10:56The country just. Just bought me and I'll tell you
- 1:10:58this, it's going to take more than 7 grand.
- 1:11:02It's going to take more because 7 grand.
- 1:11:04I got like my 6th grand kid on the way.
- 1:11:07This would barely knockout Christmas.
- 1:11:10So if you're going to give me, you got to give me more than
- 1:11:13that. But here's what's weird, This is
- 1:11:17This is why we've architected things the way they are.
- 1:11:21I don't take any money from book sales.
- 1:11:23I don't take money from platform monetization.
- 1:11:26I don't take any money from product sales.
- 1:11:29And, and at the end of the day, I just want to get Bible
- 1:11:33teaching out. And I've come to my conclusions
- 1:11:38by going through books of the Bible verse by verse for 30
- 1:11:43years while faithful to my wife. And so unlike some who are new
- 1:11:51to content providing or the Internet, I've been doing this a
- 1:11:55very long time. And I have intentionally
- 1:11:58structured my life so I can have as much freedom as possible to
- 1:12:02say exactly what I believe is true based upon my teaching of
- 1:12:06God's Word. I think I I preached or taught
- 1:12:09through 40 of the 66 books of the Bible.
- 1:12:12And so, yeah, I mean, you can accuse me of whatever you want.
- 1:12:16The truth is I'm just a Bible teacher trying to get as much
- 1:12:20helpful, practical Bible teaching out as I can.
- 1:12:24And I have structured things in such a way that whether they do
- 1:12:29well or poor, I don't profit. Either way, it doesn't benefit
- 1:12:34me. Yep, and I run the business so I
- 1:12:36know that to be a fact. Really quick question for you
- 1:12:40and I didn't prep you for this one.
- 1:12:41So a lot of these women and people that are angry about the
- 1:12:44Candace thing and specifically things that have been said on
- 1:12:48the show that are mad at you unfollowing, unsubscribing,
- 1:12:52whatever over the Candace thing. It's like she has a cult
- 1:12:55following. What would you tell them?
- 1:12:58I would say #1 I understand why people are prone to lean into
- 1:13:06conspiracy theories. I, I am sympathetic to that with
- 1:13:09a whole Russiagate thing with Trump.
- 1:13:11You're like, this is wild. Like it was all a mirage in the
- 1:13:15desert. That's wild.
- 1:13:17The COVID, you know, I mean, we didn't close the church and
- 1:13:20didn't do anything. But like, they're like, yeah, 6
- 1:13:23feet. We kind of just like, you know,
- 1:13:25made that up in masks. We're not sure.
- 1:13:27And it was just, you know, certain categories of people
- 1:13:30were at risk. We should have let the 20 year
- 1:13:32olds go to work. You're like, OK, so we shut down
- 1:13:34the planet. And the information was
- 1:13:36misinformation and disinformation.
- 1:13:39With BLM, Black Lives Matter, you know, you realize, OK, this
- 1:13:43actually wasn't about, like, having concern for certain
- 1:13:49members of our community. This was a social Marxist
- 1:13:54attempt to weaponize a social media flashpoint with the death
- 1:13:59of George Floyd and bad actors monetize that into cultural and
- 1:14:04financial gain. The number of times and the
- 1:14:08number of ways that we've been absolutely freaking lied to is
- 1:14:13shocking. 100%. And, and I will say this, I've
- 1:14:17been lied about you a bit. I had a ear.
- 1:14:22I won't talk about it, but I have been.
- 1:14:24And so I, I'm sympathetic to those who are prone to our
- 1:14:28conspiracy theories, but you've got to be careful because if you
- 1:14:32live on the Internet too much and you become so jaded that you
- 1:14:36think that everything is a conspiracy theory, you stop
- 1:14:40being a healthy, functional human being.
- 1:14:43And then you start assuming that everyone who disagrees with you
- 1:14:46is part of the conspiracy. Yep, as soon as that happens you
- 1:14:50become a very strange, lonely person.
- 1:14:56And the older you get the more isolated and odd you become.
- 1:15:01And so you know, at the end of the day, I am absolutely to the
- 1:15:06death all in loyal to Jesus Christ.
- 1:15:10My commitment and loyalty to everyone else is in pencil, and
- 1:15:15if you grab a sharpie and write anybody's name other than Jesus,
- 1:15:19I think you've made a fatal error.
- 1:15:21You, you've made that clear over the last couple years.
- 1:15:23There was a men's event. You did that.
- 1:15:24Just you were very loyal to Jesus.
- 1:15:26I'll, I'll say that you're, you're heavily involved.
- 1:15:30I won't overstate your relationship with with people
- 1:15:32involved in the situation. Candace is less involved than
- 1:15:35you. I would, I would imagine.
- 1:15:37I mean, she's not talking to anyone really at turning point.
- 1:15:41Is there any hint of conspiracy there?
- 1:15:44I I'm not going to divulge see as a pastor, I have certain
- 1:15:49relationships with certain people and my hope her and goal
- 1:15:53is to love them, serve them, be safe for them and that value for
- 1:15:59them. But I will say this, if somebody
- 1:16:03was on a platform and they're not on the platform and somebody
- 1:16:06was close and now they're not close, there's a reason.
- 1:16:11We'll just leave it at that. Perfect, perfect.
- 1:16:13Well, thank you guys again for joining us for the Mark Driscoll
- 1:16:16Show. If you have feedback, feel free
- 1:16:18to e-mail it or drop it in the comments like so many of you
- 1:16:21did, like Jonah. And so thank you guys again.
- 1:16:26And if you guys want more content like this, we actually
- 1:16:29have the Real Faith app. If you text app to 99383, we'll
- 1:16:33send that to you for a couple months free through the end of
- 1:16:35the year. We just got off right before
- 1:16:37this. Pastor Mark did a coaching call
- 1:16:39with a number of guys live people asking questions.
- 1:16:42It was awesome. If you'd like to join that
- 1:16:44group, just jump on the app and you'll have the option to do
