- 0:00Let us review the key points from DEWA's World
- 0:02Environment Day 2026 press release. This year's
- 0:06theme is Now for Climate, and the message is
- 0:09clear. Environmental protection is a strategic
- 0:12necessity linked to development, quality of life,
- 0:15and the preservation of natural resources for
- 0:18future generations. DEWA says it is supporting
- 0:21climate action through projects that reduce carbon
- 0:24emissions, improve resource efficiency, and accelerate
- 0:27the transition to clean energy and a green economy.
- 0:30It also reaffirmed full compliance with the highest
- 0:33local, federal, and international standards to
- 0:36protect natural resources, reduce waste, and
- 0:39preserve biodiversity. The projects mentioned
- 0:42were significant. The Mohammed bin Rashid Al
- 0:45Maktoum Solar Park is the world's largest single
- 0:47-site solar park under the independent power
- 0:49producer model. It is planned to exceed 8 ,000
- 0:53megawatts by 2030 and currently has a capacity
- 0:56of 3 ,860 megawatts. Clean Energy's share of
- 1:00Dubai's energy mix is expected to reach 36 %
- 1:03by 2030, up from 25 % in the original plan, avoiding
- 1:07more than 8 .5 million tons of carbon emissions
- 1:10each year. Diwa also highlighted the Green Hydrogen
- 1:14Project, the first in the Middle East and North
- 1:16Africa to use solar energy to produce, store,
- 1:19and reconvert hydrogen into electricity. It produces
- 1:23around 20 kilograms of hydrogen per hour, has
- 1:25storage capacity of up to 240 kilograms, and
- 1:29can generate electricity through a 300 -kilowatt
- 1:31generator. In Hatta, the 250 -megawatt pumped
- 1:35storage hydroelectric power station will have
- 1:37a storage capacity of 1 ,500 megawatt hours and
- 1:41a lifespan of up to 80 years. Other initiatives
- 1:44were also noted. Diwa's Green Charger initiative,
- 1:47launched in 2014, now includes more than 2 ,223
- 1:52charging points across Dubai, with access through
- 1:54Diwa's website, smart app, and 14 other digital
- 1:57platforms. Diwa also has 10 buildings certified
- 2:00to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design,
- 2:03or LEED, standards. Al -Shera, Diwa's new headquarters,
- 2:07is designed to achieve LEED Platinum and Well
- 2:09Gold certifications. His Excellency Saeed Mohammed
- 2:13Al -Tayr, MD and CEO of Diwa, said, World Environment
- 2:17Day is an opportunity to renew our collective
- 2:19commitment to protect the environment and enhance
- 2:22the sustainability of natural resources, based
- 2:24on our shared responsibility towards the planet
- 2:26we live on. At Diwa, we believe that our role
- 2:29extends beyond providing electricity and water
- 2:32services to leading the transition towards a
- 2:34more sustainable future through innovation and
- 2:36the adoption of the latest clean and technologies.
- 2:39Guided by the vision and directives of our wise
- 2:41leadership, we apply an integrated approach that
- 2:44places sustainability at the core of all our
- 2:46plans, projects, and initiatives through investing
- 2:48in pioneering projects in clean and renewable
- 2:51energy, improving resource efficiency, and developing
- 2:54innovative solutions that support the achievement
- 2:56of net zero. His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al
- 2:59-Tayr, MD and CEO of DEWA, said, The environment
- 3:02and natural resources are a trust placed in all
- 3:05our hands, and every step we take towards expanding
- 3:08solar energy projects, developing smart grids,
- 3:10desalinating water using environmentally friendly
- 3:13technologies, accelerating the transition to
- 3:15a green economy, alongside initiatives that raise
- 3:18community awareness, is a true embodiment of
- 3:20our shared responsibility to build a more resilient,
- 3:22prosperous, and sustainable future for us and
