- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from my studio.
- 0:31So why am I in the studio this morning?
- 0:33Because yesterday somebody asked me, what do you do if you just
- 0:38are not feeling it? Like you can't seem to shake off
- 0:41this? Like I don't know what I want to
- 0:44do. I don't know what I want to put
- 0:46on my goal list. I don't know how I want to
- 0:48finish the year. I just don't know.
- 0:49I'm stuck in a place of I don't know.
- 0:52So this happened during a session yesterday and we worked
- 0:56through it and I gave them this exact same exercise.
- 0:59So I thought it would be really fun to share it with all of you.
- 1:02So sometimes when you're really stuck, you've heard me say
- 1:06before you have to cross pollinate things.
- 1:08You have to bring something that you love over to something that
- 1:12feels unknown and then you kind of ride that wave of energy into
- 1:16it. So I'm going to use this as a
- 1:18real example. So after the session was
- 1:20happened early yesterday morning, I was, you know, on the
- 1:24phone with this person and they indicated that they just were in
- 1:27this state of almost frozen, but not quite.
- 1:31It's like they still had things they wanted to finish up this
- 1:34year. They knew they could make them
- 1:36happen, but they were just kind of like, I'm tired yet.
- 1:39I just want to sit and watch holiday movies and eat popcorn
- 1:42and I just don't feel like finishing everything.
- 1:45And I know I'm, I'm, you know, on the cusp of being excited
- 1:49about going into the new year and having new things to work
- 1:53on. But I'm like, oh, what new
- 1:54things do I really want to put on the list?
- 1:56And they felt like they were just so the energy shift needed
- 2:01to take place. There was no, they were just in
- 2:04that particular energy they were stuck in.
- 2:06And it's very hard when you are stuck in an energy to move to a
- 2:11new energy unless you get to a place that you can jump from
- 2:15otherwise. Like, think of it this way.
- 2:16If you were very, very sad about something, like very sad about
- 2:20something to go to be happy and say, OK, I'm very happy now.
- 2:25That's like leaping the Grand Canyon.
- 2:28So we want to move up the emotional scale, but we don't
- 2:31want to make you make a leap like that because it seems like
- 2:35it's, it's unfathomable. And maybe it would be once you
- 2:39got to that place, you wouldn't be able to stay there.
- 2:41You'd slide back. But if you go slowly, you know,
- 2:44tortoise, like dope, Ditto, dope, Ditto.
- 2:46It would be a lot easier to stay there.
- 2:49And there's also the riding of the wave portion of it.
- 2:52So if you get excited about something and you're feeling it
- 2:55over a period of hours, it's easier to stay in that phase.
- 3:00So I figured I'd take you through one of my personal
- 3:03favorites to do this. And it's going out and being,
- 3:06you know, being super creative with just something you wouldn't
- 3:10think of. So yesterday it's the end of the
- 3:14year. Obviously things are, we've had
- 3:16frost, we've had all kinds of things and there's a lot of dead
- 3:20items on the farm, meaning lots of dead plants.
- 3:23Things are dried up, flowers are dried up out there.
- 3:26It looks kind of crispy. It's probably the best word I
- 3:28can use. It's crispy out there and lots
- 3:30of different shades of brown. So I thought, what if I did a
- 3:34display of all the found items I could have that were consider
- 3:40dried up and see what it looked like?
- 3:43I'm just going to take the wagon.
- 3:45I'm going to walk around with Clippers and the wagon and I'm
- 3:48going to say everything that I find.
- 3:50I'm going to try to create something out of it, a display,
- 3:54you know, of some sort. So off I went, took my wagon,
- 3:58took my Clippers, went out there, started cutting and, you
- 4:01know, collected pine cones, collected dried flowers that
- 4:06were just hanging on there. You know, they were slumped
- 4:08over. I collected some leaves that
- 4:10were bright yellow off of one of our little Japanese maples and
- 4:15you know, the bottoms of acorns along with whole acorns.
- 4:20You name it, I was finding it. Seed pods off of some of the
- 4:23flowers that I had You, you can't imagine all the different
- 4:26things I collected and found. And then I brought them back and
- 4:29I took a a picture that I had painted a long time ago and it
- 4:35was like, I think it's like 35 by 20.
- 4:38It's very big maybe even 40 by 20.
- 4:41And I flipped it over so the canvas part of it is facing the
- 4:45ground. I can't see it now, it just
- 4:47looks like the back and it's got the wood outline, the wood frame
- 4:51of it, and the canvas is down low, can't see the picture, so
- 4:54it's backwards. And I use that as a holding
- 4:57frame. And I sat there for a good hour
- 5:01arranging each piece in there to make a display.
- 5:04I even had a big piece of wood that I found that looked like it
- 5:08was reaching its arms up saying Hooray.
- 5:11And I put that diagonal across it and I started just arranging
- 5:14it, just sitting there and just putting together a puzzle that
- 5:18wasn't a puzzle, but just a visual like, oh, what could this
- 5:21look like? And when I finished it, my son
- 5:24walked in and he's like, Oh my gosh, that's beautiful.
- 5:28What are you going to do with that?
- 5:29And I was like, oh, nothing, I'm just going to dump it out.
- 5:31I just needed to get into a good headspace and show that this can
- 5:36be done this way. So I took a picture of it and I
- 5:38sent it to that client. And she was like, Oh my gosh,
- 5:41how did this like, how did you even do that?
- 5:43I was like, I wanted to show you.
- 5:45So now I'm in this super creative energy based off of
- 5:49what I just did. And she's like, I'm going to go
- 5:51do that. I'm going to go try that out.
- 5:54So that is a strategy that is extremely helpful.
- 5:58Found items. Now you don't have to do it the
- 6:00way I did it off of dried items. It could just be anything that
- 6:04you find, but use it as a visual.
- 6:06Think of it as you looking down at it from overhead and you
- 6:10just, you're taking a shot of it and it's just like a still life
- 6:13almost of whatever you find. I've done it in the past,
- 6:17believe it or not, with things that I was donating a bunch of
- 6:19stuff to go to Goodwill and I displayed them not in a little
- 6:24frame like that, but I displayed them all on the floor in a way,
- 6:27in a pattern. And then I took a picture of it
- 6:29and I was like, that's so cool looking.
- 6:31So you can do it with any of this stuff.
- 6:34Now the remember, the intent isn't to print a picture of it
- 6:37unless you love it, but the intent is to shift your energy.
- 6:41So give it a try, see if it works and I'll see you guys
- 6:45tomorrow. Have a blessed day.
- 6:46Bye.
