- 0:00Speaker 1: Bretba, thank you so much. I want to bring in
- 0:02Speaker 1: somebody that our audience has come to know and I've
- 0:03Speaker 1: known for a long time, and this is I feel
- 0:05Speaker 1: like it's a little bit of an emotional day because
- 0:08Speaker 1: while we've been friends for a long time, dancing Or
- 0:09Speaker 1: is a former senior policy advisor to President Bush, it
- 0:12Speaker 1: was really after October seventh where we reconnect. I listen
- 0:16Speaker 1: to your podcast. It's essential for me call me back,
- 0:18Speaker 1: and your singular focus from October seventh has been the
- 0:22Speaker 1: return of these hostages, and we're looking at Freed Square,
- 0:25Speaker 1: renamed today after it was called Hostage Square for almost
- 0:29Speaker 1: a little over two years. I don't even really know
- 0:32Speaker 1: where to begin with you, so let me turn over
- 0:35Speaker 1: to you and maybe talk a little bit about these
- 0:36Speaker 1: families and their reunions.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Look, there's so many emotions, Dana, and I know, as
- 0:43Speaker 2: you said, we have been the relationship that we've had
- 0:47Speaker 2: has intensified both between us and many of your colleagues here.
- 0:50Speaker 2: I just want to take a moment to say that
- 0:54Speaker 2: Douglas Murray has this line. I reflect on a lot,
- 0:57Speaker 2: have reflected on a lot since October seventh, which is
- 1:00Speaker 2: there are certain moments in history where flare goes up
- 1:03Speaker 2: in the night. When that flare goes up, you actually
- 1:07Speaker 2: see who's standing with you and who's not. In that
- 1:09Speaker 2: like split second, you actually see, oh, I thought that
- 1:11Speaker 2: person was with me.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Oh I thought that.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Person at my back, And you're endlessly disappointed. The corollary
- 1:17Speaker 2: to that is you're also inspired by seeing who actually
- 1:20Speaker 2: is with you. And I feel that way about you
- 1:22Speaker 2: and your colleagues here at Fox. You have reported this
- 1:25Speaker 2: story just with facts and straightforward analysis and clarity since
- 1:29Speaker 2: October seventh, and I cannot tell you, given the Maelstrom
- 1:33Speaker 2: and the chaos and the sense that the world was
- 1:36Speaker 2: turned upside down for so many of us these last
- 1:38Speaker 2: two years, to have folks like you and others here
- 1:42Speaker 2: just like it was like an anchor.
- 1:45Speaker 3: So thank you.
- 1:47Speaker 2: I'm look what I'm thinking about these events. It's deeply
- 1:50Speaker 2: you know, I honestly didn't know. I talked a lot
- 1:52Speaker 2: on my podcast about whether or not is or whatever
- 1:54Speaker 2: get all the hostages back. You really and more and
- 1:57Speaker 2: more of my guests over in the last few months
- 1:58Speaker 2: said there's a very good chance Israel won't get all
- 2:01Speaker 2: the hostages back, because at the end of the day,
- 2:04Speaker 2: the hostages were the only currency and leverage that Hamas has,
- 2:08Speaker 2: So why on earth they may give up some, they
- 2:11Speaker 2: may do it in phases, but they won't let all
- 2:13Speaker 2: of them be released. And I will say today, at
- 2:16Speaker 2: least as it relates to the living hostages, and we've
- 2:18Speaker 2: got to do everything we can to get back to
- 2:20Speaker 2: deceased hostages too. That turns out not to be true,
- 2:23Speaker 2: and there'll be tons of analysis on how we got here.
- 2:28Speaker 2: But I think the big takeaway from today is the
- 2:32Speaker 2: power that one person and one leader can make. And
- 2:36Speaker 2: there was over nine hundred Israeli soldiers that were killed
- 2:39Speaker 2: in this war, the majority of which were after October seventh,
- 2:42Speaker 2: not on the day of October seventh, means they were fighting.
- 2:44Speaker 2: There was these Raeli military forces that helped create today.
- 2:48Speaker 2: There are a series of events which we can get
- 2:50Speaker 2: into that led to today. But I do think President
- 2:53Speaker 2: Trump deciding that he was going to take the chessboard
- 2:57Speaker 2: and knock out off all the pieces and reassemble it
- 3:01Speaker 2: in the way that he thought something.
- 3:02Speaker 3: Could get done was singular. It was singular impact.
- 3:06Speaker 2: In history, we often talk about do moments and trends
- 3:10Speaker 2: and in an environment create the event or does a person
- 3:15Speaker 2: create the event.
- 3:16Speaker 3: It's like the man versus the moment. And I think
- 3:18Speaker 3: in this particular.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Case, we know this is like a fantastic and the
- 3:22Speaker 2: President Trump to say, you know, Selena Zito just posted
- 3:24Speaker 2: something on Twitter. She interviewed Trump after his assassination attempt,
- 3:28Speaker 2: and he said it, and I.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Wrote it down here. He said.
- 3:30Speaker 2: He told Selena I was saved for a purpose, and
- 3:34Speaker 2: I have an obligation to live up to that purpose.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Now.
- 3:37Speaker 2: I don't know what purpose he had in mind when
- 3:38Speaker 2: he said that, but my gosh, I think he absolutely
- 3:41Speaker 2: changed the trajectory.
- 3:43Speaker 3: We were just locked in this way of doing things.
- 3:46Speaker 2: You know, hostages can only be released in phases, and
- 3:49Speaker 2: as I said, all the hostages may not ever come back,
- 3:51Speaker 2: and he just said, no, all the hostages are going
- 3:54Speaker 2: to come back and.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Then come back at once.
- 3:55Speaker 2: And then he when he felt the timing was ripe,
- 3:58Speaker 2: he made he said, this is the moment, and here
- 4:01Speaker 2: we are.
- 4:01Speaker 1: I have two other questions for you, and we have
- 4:02Speaker 1: about two minutes left, so let me do the first one,
- 4:05Speaker 1: which is about the hostages and the and the reunions,
- 4:08Speaker 1: because you know that a lot of these families and
- 4:10Speaker 1: what they've gone through some have some lost their loved ones,
- 4:13Speaker 1: like people you've had as guests on your podcast, Any
- 4:16Speaker 1: word from them, any sense of how they are there
- 4:19Speaker 1: well being.
- 4:20Speaker 3: It's so we don't know a lot of details yet.
- 4:22Speaker 2: I the experience from previous hostage releases is that the
- 4:29Speaker 2: first couple of days are surprisingly you know.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Understandably I guess maybe not surprisingly upbeat.
- 4:36Speaker 2: And and full of joy relation and then and then
- 4:40Speaker 2: things you know, Once everyone, both of the hostage and
- 4:43Speaker 2: the family and the doctors start learning more and more,
- 4:46Speaker 2: it gets much more difficult.
- 4:47Speaker 3: So I think it's it's too early before. But let
- 4:49Speaker 3: me see. But I don't think anyone's like in critical condition.
- 4:51Speaker 3: I think there was there was.
- 4:52Speaker 1: I think that's true just by.
- 4:54Speaker 3: There was speculation that some of them will come back,
- 4:56Speaker 3: and so far with what we know, that look like.
- 4:58Speaker 1: My last question is going to be about Yahoo. But
- 5:00Speaker 1: if there is there a place where for our audience,
- 5:02Speaker 1: who has been very engaged and very generous, where can
- 5:05Speaker 1: they help for the hostage family.
- 5:07Speaker 3: The organization?
- 5:08Speaker 2: I would say there's a actually that the organization needs
- 5:12Speaker 2: the most help right now is the IDFU Widows and
- 5:16Speaker 2: Orphans Organization. I can post that that is an organization.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Now you're talking about you know, just think about over
- 5:22Speaker 2: nine hundred soldiers killed, a lot of orphans, a lot
- 5:26Speaker 2: of widows that will need help now, and so that
- 5:29Speaker 2: would be where.
- 5:29Speaker 1: I would okay, well it will amplify that. My last
- 5:31Speaker 1: question for you is just one on you understand Israeli
- 5:34Speaker 1: politics better than most. It's certainly better than me. But
- 5:37Speaker 1: I know that it's tricky and it's difficult. When President
- 5:41Speaker 1: Trump at the Knesset says, I'm asking you to pardon
- 5:45Speaker 1: net and Yahoo, who is supposed to be in court tomorrow,
- 5:49Speaker 1: what happens next?
- 5:51Speaker 2: Look, I think that there's no clear part in It's
- 5:55Speaker 2: not like the US where the president has this like
- 5:57Speaker 2: pardon capacity.
- 5:57Speaker 3: So he was just clearly like winging it there.
- 6:00Speaker 2: So technically I don't think anything changes on the legal front. Technically,
- 6:05Speaker 2: I do think politically these things have an impact.
- 6:08Speaker 3: The overwhelming majority of Israelis from right to left.
- 6:11Speaker 2: You saw it when when Jared and Ivanka and Steve
- 6:14Speaker 2: woodkof for at the Hostage is Square on Saturday night.
- 6:17Speaker 2: You saw the just the the just unbelievable appreciation they
- 6:21Speaker 2: have for President Trump. He is a he is a
- 6:23Speaker 2: political force in Israel like no president I've ever seen
- 6:27Speaker 2: from either party, and so I think that he saying
- 6:31Speaker 2: every Israeli understands the single most important relationship in the
- 6:35Speaker 2: world between the Israel and Israel and the US. When
- 6:37Speaker 2: the president of the US is saying, I stand shoulder
- 6:40Speaker 2: to shoulder of this guy, I don't think. I don't
- 6:42Speaker 2: know what implications that has legally, but politically nothing. Yea
- 6:46Speaker 2: who's now getting ready to head into a re election.
- 6:47Speaker 2: It's it's pretty helpful.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Well, all of our love to you and yours, and
