- 0:06Speaker 1: All right, we welcome to the show in a special
- 0:08Speaker 1: interview with mister Elon Musk, who of course is famed
- 0:11Speaker 1: Trump advisor, CEO of Tesla SpaceX, chair of ex Corporilon.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Thank you for doing this, We appreciate it.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Thanks for having me.
- 0:19Speaker 1: I want to begin. Among other things, everyone's attacking you
- 0:22Speaker 1: for your position. What are you doing in the government.
- 0:25Speaker 1: There was a cyber attack on X today which shut
- 0:28Speaker 1: it down and may have been foreign sourced. It's a
- 0:31Speaker 1: big story. You want to give us a moment on that.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Well, we're not sure exactly what happened, but there was
- 0:38Speaker 2: a massive cyber attack to try to bring down the
- 0:40Speaker 2: X system with IP addresses originating in the Ukraine area.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Well, so that's your suspicion. Is the website? Is the
- 0:50Speaker 1: Internet up? Is it up yet?
- 0:51Speaker 2: It's up? Yeah, it's up yet.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Okay, good, But I just was looking back. Let me
- 0:54Speaker 1: get see if I get this right. They're setting fire
- 0:57Speaker 1: to various Tesla chargings stations near Boston. Shots were fired
- 1:03Speaker 1: at a Tesla dealership in Oregon. Various non violencet's fired
- 1:10Speaker 1: not a metaphor, not's fired? Yes? Downtown New York marching
- 1:16Speaker 1: marching against the Tesla's showroom. Your stock is way down.
- 1:21Speaker 1: You've been criticized left and right.
- 1:23Speaker 2: But look on the right side.
- 1:25Speaker 1: I mean, what are you doing this?
- 1:27Speaker 2: Always look on you always look on the right side
- 1:29Speaker 2: of life.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Yes, But besides that, yes, I mean, what motivates you
- 1:38Speaker 1: to do this?
- 1:39Speaker 2: What suppors the opera? Good? It's tough sledding, yeah, it
- 1:43Speaker 2: is tough sledding, But I think we're doing the right
- 1:46Speaker 2: thing here. The you know, there's been a transse amount
- 1:49Speaker 2: of wasting fort in the in the government. You know,
- 1:53Speaker 2: when you're part of the government, you saw a lot
- 1:55Speaker 2: of that and it's and there there's been uh, you know,
- 1:59Speaker 2: if you look at the Inspector General reports and the
- 2:01Speaker 2: Government Accountability Office, there have been many orders that have
- 2:06Speaker 2: pointed out that there's a tremendous amount of waste and
- 2:09Speaker 2: fraud in the government. In fact, there was a report
- 2:12Speaker 2: issued by by the g g a O, the govern
- 2:14Speaker 2: Accountability Office last year so jent during the Biden administration,
- 2:18Speaker 2: which estimated the federal government fraud the half a trillion dollars.
- 2:25Speaker 2: So just because that's that's not a Trump administration thing,
- 2:27Speaker 2: that's a Biden administration thing. So what we're trying to
- 2:31Speaker 2: do is get that number down to a much smaller figure.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Save money for the American taxpayer. Stop money being spent
- 2:39Speaker 2: on things that are that I think very few taxpayers
- 2:43Speaker 2: would agree. Make sense, you know, transgender animal surgeries, or
- 2:47Speaker 2: why are we spending Why are American tax dollars being
- 2:50Speaker 2: spent on this? And the presidents are gone through a
- 2:57Speaker 2: long list of absertad things. Why are the twenty million
- 3:01Speaker 2: people who are definitely dead marked as alive in the
- 3:04Speaker 2: Social Security database? Why we're hundreds of millions of dollars
- 3:11Speaker 2: of small business Administration loans were given out to people
- 3:16Speaker 2: aged eleven and under according to the Social Security like,
- 3:20Speaker 2: these must have some very enterprising eight year olds, you know.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Pretty strong one hundred and fifty year olds.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Yes, exactly, As as the President said, you know, we
- 3:31Speaker 2: have an enormous number of people marked as alive who
- 3:34Speaker 2: one hundred and sixty. He didn't know the country was
- 3:36Speaker 2: that healthy.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Yes, you know. So demystify this. How do you do it? Okay?
- 3:42Speaker 1: How big is your team? Where'd you recruit most of
- 3:45Speaker 1: them from? And what is it that makes you choose
- 3:49Speaker 1: you know, the Treasury or Social Security or USAID? How
- 3:53Speaker 1: does it work. Let the public know, please.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Right, Well, we just basically follow the money. You know,
- 3:59Speaker 2: we look at the presence executive orders and we also
- 4:03Speaker 2: just follow the money. So we started looking closely at
- 4:06Speaker 2: usc I D because they were completely violating the presence
- 4:09Speaker 2: executive orders to suspend foreign foreign aid. You know what
- 4:14Speaker 2: what's called foreign aid. But in our view is a
- 4:17Speaker 2: lot of corruption. So what we saw there is just
- 4:21Speaker 2: a trans amount of money being sent to non governmental organizations.
- 4:26Speaker 2: But actually it's a by the way, is I think
- 4:29Speaker 2: one of the biggest sources of fraud in the world
- 4:31Speaker 2: is government funded non governmental organizations. This is this is
- 4:35Speaker 2: a gigantic fraud loophole where the government can give money
- 4:39Speaker 2: to an NGO and then that there were no controls
- 4:43Speaker 2: over that NGO, So they've given billions dollars in thatch,
- 4:47Speaker 2: we estimate tens of billions of dollars to NGOs that
- 4:50Speaker 2: are essentially scams and way I try to put us
- 4:55Speaker 2: UF to that.
- 4:56Speaker 1: So I don't want to interrupt. Secretary of State Rubio
- 4:59Speaker 1: just come out. I think he tweeted today he is
- 5:03Speaker 1: accepted over eighty percent of your recommendations to shut down
- 5:06Speaker 1: in U S A I D. So your review and
- 5:09Speaker 1: analysis was spot on. Yes.
- 5:14Speaker 2: So I think when people criticize, say what DOGE is doing,
- 5:19Speaker 2: we say, well, which parts specifically, because we put all
- 5:22Speaker 2: of the actions of the DOG team on the dose
- 5:25Speaker 2: dot gov website and on the dog headline X, so
- 5:30Speaker 2: we post the receipts, so it's like this, this action
- 5:32Speaker 2: has been taken, this action has been taken. So when
- 5:36Speaker 2: when we get criticism, we say, like, of what of
- 5:38Speaker 2: what which which one line do you disagree with? Like
- 5:42Speaker 2: which which cut? Which cut? Which cost saving do you
- 5:45Speaker 2: disagree with? And the people usually can't think.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Of any no, you know, So it's transparent line by line.
- 5:52Speaker 2: It's transparent line by line, which is quite remarkable, right
- 5:56Speaker 2: and so, and then with respect to the Treasury, for example,
- 6:04Speaker 2: the two main recommendations we suggested which have not been implemented,
- 6:10Speaker 2: was that any payments going out of the Treasury, especially
- 6:14Speaker 2: the Treasury's main payment computer, which is called PEN, things
- 6:19Speaker 2: like Payments Account Manager or something like that. It's like
- 6:21Speaker 2: almost five trillion a year, so about a billion an hour,
- 6:25Speaker 2: that the payments be coded with the congressional appropriation, and
- 6:29Speaker 2: that there'd be an explanation for the payment. Very basic stuff,
- 6:34Speaker 2: and just doing that, we estimate we'll save one hundred
- 6:37Speaker 2: billion dollars a year.
- 6:38Speaker 1: You're not really let me see if I get this right,
- 6:41Speaker 1: particularly with so screwed. You're not really changing policy that
- 6:45Speaker 1: you're auditing the fiscal mechanisms to make sure that you know,
- 6:50Speaker 1: from point A gets to point B, and that's where
- 6:53Speaker 1: it's supposed to get to. In some cases it doesn't
- 6:56Speaker 1: get there, or some cases it may go over there.
- 6:58Speaker 1: But that's it's not a policy exercise. You're not changing laws.
- 7:04Speaker 1: You're just doing what any business would do in a
- 7:06Speaker 1: in a in a profit and loss audit.
- 7:10Speaker 2: I think we're really what what what we're adding here
- 7:14Speaker 2: is caring and competence and the there's a massive amount
- 7:21Speaker 2: of fraud of basically people submitting UH social Security numbers
- 7:26Speaker 2: for UH social Security benefits, unemployment, small business administration loans,
- 7:33Speaker 2: and UH and medical where where those are those are
- 7:37Speaker 2: those are fake social screen numbers. So there's where they've
- 7:39Speaker 2: stolen somebody else's social screen number. And we're trying we're
- 7:42Speaker 2: trying to put a stop to all of that. And
- 7:44Speaker 2: that that's the number, which is estimated to be on
- 7:47Speaker 2: the order of ten percent of federal expenditures which is,
- 7:50Speaker 2: you know, half a half a trillion dollars.
- 7:52Speaker 1: A huge number. You're working with the agency heads, you're
- 7:58Speaker 1: working with the Cabinet secrity here. Yes, I saw Howard
- 8:01Speaker 1: Lutnik was on TV yesterday saying you were partnering with them.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Is that there?
- 8:07Speaker 2: Yeah, what we do is an in consult consultation with
- 8:10Speaker 2: the cabinet sectories and with their departments. So we're really
- 8:15Speaker 2: trying to be sort of we'll refer to ourselves as
- 8:20Speaker 2: tech tech support, you know, we're really helping the department
- 8:27Speaker 2: get a handle on things. Because what actually happens here
- 8:31Speaker 2: is you've got this this sort of vast federal bureaucracy,
- 8:34Speaker 2: and then you've got a very thin layer on top
- 8:37Speaker 2: of the of the politically appointed officials. And what tests
- 8:44Speaker 2: to happen is that the bureaucracy frankly is in control
- 8:48Speaker 2: and they largely ignore the politically appointed people. Why should
- 8:52Speaker 2: the bureaucracy, I'm sure you must have seen that.
- 8:55Speaker 1: I've lived with this twice. I worked for Reagan many
- 8:57Speaker 1: years ago, and I worked for Trump in the first term. Yeah,
- 9:00Speaker 1: it's like a permanent bureaucracy, I might add, it's a
- 9:02Speaker 1: permanently liberal bureaucracy, yes, very much so, and it doesn't
- 9:06Speaker 1: it's not a bureaucracy that necessarily enforces or implements presidential policy.
- 9:12Speaker 2: They don't. In fact, they tried their best to thwart
- 9:15Speaker 2: presidential policy. So the president is the elected representative of
- 9:20Speaker 2: the people. And if the president cannot get things implemented
- 9:24Speaker 2: as a reflection of the will of the people, then
- 9:27Speaker 2: what we have is not a democracy. We have a bureaucracy.
- 9:30Speaker 2: We're rule of the bureau not rule of the people.
- 9:33Speaker 2: And that's what we're trying to defeat. Here is the
- 9:37Speaker 2: bureaucracy and have rule of the people. You know. The
- 9:46Speaker 2: and as you mentioned, the bureaucracy is overwhelmingly Democrats. So
- 9:53Speaker 2: Washington d C Was ninety two and a half percent
- 9:56Speaker 2: I believe voted for Kamala So this overwhelmingly a demo.
- 10:01Speaker 2: A deep move situation.
- 10:03Speaker 1: How do you pick your next targeted agency or department?
- 10:10Speaker 2: Well, we're we're trying to act broadly across old departments,
- 10:17Speaker 2: so it's not just one department at a time.
- 10:20Speaker 1: But are you in all them now? All of them?
- 10:24Speaker 2: Pretty much? Yeah? Yes, Oh, we're trying to make trying
- 10:28Speaker 2: to make the government more efficient across the board.
- 10:31Speaker 1: So, yeah, how big is your team?
- 10:34Speaker 2: We're a little over one hundred at this point. Get
- 10:37Speaker 2: to two hundred.
- 10:38Speaker 1: You're going to get to two hundred. Yeah, okay, and
- 10:40Speaker 1: you're recruiting from where.
- 10:44Speaker 2: More or less basically it's software people, you know, information security,
- 10:50Speaker 2: software people, and finance. Yeah, it's basically, yeah, finance and
- 10:59Speaker 2: techn algy And I mean, frankly, I can't believe I'm
- 11:04Speaker 2: here doing this. It's kind of bizarre, but I kind
- 11:10Speaker 2: of think that the Yeah, we've got this enormous federal
- 11:14Speaker 2: budget deficit, and it's a true trillion dollar deficit. It
- 11:19Speaker 2: keeps growing. Our interest payments are higher than our defense
- 11:25Speaker 2: department budget. That's that's I think was the real wake
- 11:29Speaker 2: up call for me was looking at seeing that the
- 11:32Speaker 2: interest payments the national debt exceeded the Defense Department budget
- 11:37Speaker 2: and that was only growing over time, which meant if
- 11:39Speaker 2: we didn't do something about this, then there won't be
- 11:43Speaker 2: any money for anything. We'll just be servicing debt.
- 11:46Speaker 1: And you know how to read an income statement and
- 11:48Speaker 1: you know how to read a balance sheet. You've had
- 11:51Speaker 1: some business experience. I'm kidding, but.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Yeah, you know about all this stuff. Yeah, I mean
- 11:57Speaker 2: really I just don't want America to go bankrupt.
- 11:59Speaker 1: So it's all the action you're feeling. You're hearing a
- 12:01Speaker 1: call to action. Yeah, you're giving up your other stuff.
- 12:06Speaker 1: I mean what do you How are you running your other.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Businesses with great difficulty?
- 12:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean that there's no turning back.
- 12:20Speaker 2: You're saying, I'm just here trying to make government more efficient,
- 12:28Speaker 2: eliminate waste and fraud, and so far we're making good progress. Actually,
- 12:35Speaker 2: so our UH savings at this point exceed four billion
- 12:41Speaker 2: dollars a day, so it's pretty significant.
- 12:43Speaker 1: You think you'll wind up getting to a trillion dollars. Yeah, savings.
- 12:48Speaker 2: I mean unless what's unless we're unless we're stopped, we
- 12:51Speaker 2: will get to a trillion dollars of savings.
- 12:53Speaker 1: And that stuff can be translated. I mean we've been talking.
- 12:55Speaker 1: We had Russell vote the OMB director on earlier through
- 12:59Speaker 1: very decision an authority impowerment authority. But I believe you
- 13:03Speaker 1: said it earlier. It's an audit that will not gather
- 13:06Speaker 1: dust on shelves. This is actually going to wind up
- 13:09Speaker 1: with real savings, bend the base spending baseline down.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Yeah, there have been many good audits to I sit
- 13:18Speaker 2: done by Inspector Generals and by Governor Accountability Office, and
- 13:22Speaker 2: they just haven't been implemented. Nothing's been done. You know.
- 13:29Speaker 2: I think the GEO identified that there was seventeen million
- 13:31Speaker 2: dead people in the Social Security database several years ago.
- 13:34Speaker 2: It's not twenty million, but we done anything about it.
- 13:40Speaker 2: And I mean, I think you can sort of look
- 13:43Speaker 2: at this as a complaint minimization optimization. So basically, if
- 13:48Speaker 2: the government sends money out to whether it's wastefloor, porgein pordulant,
- 13:52Speaker 2: nobody complains if they receive money, but they do complain
- 13:57Speaker 2: if they don't receive money. And people that complain the
- 14:00Speaker 2: loudest are the ones receiving the fortunate money.
- 14:04Speaker 1: And you're on it.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, just like I said, the goal, the
- 14:10Speaker 2: goal here is let's let's not have America go bankrupt
- 14:13Speaker 2: with waste and fraud. So that's what I'm here for.
- 14:19Speaker 2: And we're making good progress.
- 14:21Speaker 1: Yes, So you're going to go another year, Yeah, I
- 14:25Speaker 1: think so final report middle of next year.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Well, we're just getting things done as opposed to writing
- 14:33Speaker 2: a report like say, reports don't mean anything, just you've
- 14:37Speaker 2: got to actually take actions. So the I mean, the
- 14:43Speaker 2: waste important in entitlement spending, you know, which is all
- 14:46Speaker 2: of the which is most of the federal spending is entitlements.
- 14:50Speaker 2: So that that's that's like the big one to eliminate
- 14:54Speaker 2: is that that's the sort of half trillion maybe six
- 14:57Speaker 2: seven hundred billion a year. That is also a mechanism
- 15:02Speaker 2: by which the Democrats attract and retain illegal immigrants by
- 15:07Speaker 2: essentially paying them to come here and then turning them
- 15:11Speaker 2: into voters. Yes, so this is why the Democrats are
- 15:14Speaker 2: so upset about the situation, because they're losing. You know,
- 15:19Speaker 2: if we turn off this gigantic money magnet for illegal immigrants,
- 15:25Speaker 2: then they will leave and they will lose voters.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Do you have presidents sport He said so again yesterday
- 15:32Speaker 1: he completely supports your operation.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Yeah, well thanks, but that's without the president's support, we
- 15:40Speaker 2: couldn't make any progress here. But yeah, I mean, where
- 15:45Speaker 2: you'll see the biggest outcry is from the Democrats who
- 15:49Speaker 2: are they don't want the way someport to be turned
- 15:53Speaker 2: off because it is a gigantic magnet to attract legal
- 15:58Speaker 2: immigrants and have them stay in the country. And I
- 16:02Speaker 2: mean you see some of the crazy stuff like where
- 16:05Speaker 2: money from FEMA, you know, which meant FEMA, as an agency,
- 16:08Speaker 2: is meant to take care of Americans in distress, and
- 16:12Speaker 2: a bunch of their money was being sent to pay
- 16:14Speaker 2: for luxury hotels in New York for illegal immigrants. And
- 16:19Speaker 2: that was happening even after the President was elected, even
- 16:22Speaker 2: after he signed an executive orders saying that needs to stop.
- 16:26Speaker 2: So we actually made sure that money did stop going,
- 16:28Speaker 2: because it's obviously it's outrageous that American taxpayer money is
- 16:32Speaker 2: meant on luxury hotels for legals. But you have to say, like,
- 16:35Speaker 2: why is that being done? It was because the Democrats
- 16:38Speaker 2: are trying to import voters. Basically, yes, I agree. Yeah,
- 16:43Speaker 2: and that's also why there's no voter ID and needed.
- 16:47Speaker 2: In fact, in California and in New York State, you're
- 16:52Speaker 2: not allowed to show voter ID. That's a great Isn't
- 16:56Speaker 2: this even insane?
- 16:57Speaker 1: Insane? Yeah? I'd say that as a New Yorker. It's insane, insane,
- 17:02Speaker 1: and it violates the entire Constitution and the principles behind it.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Yes, producers are.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Yelling at me to get out. I don't want to
- 17:10Speaker 1: end this interview because too much fun. Yeah, can I
- 17:13Speaker 1: just ask you one thing? Twenty seconds nothing to do with,
- 17:17Speaker 1: nothing to do with Doge. Can you rescue the astronauts?
- 17:21Speaker 2: Oh yes, we're bringing them back in a few weeks.
- 17:23Speaker 1: It's not near enough attention being paid to this. You're
- 17:26Speaker 1: going to get them back.
- 17:27Speaker 2: We're going to get them back. God bless thank.
- 17:28Speaker 1: You, thank you for all your service, Elon Musk. We
- 17:31Speaker 1: appreciate very apiate, appreciate it.
- 17:32Speaker 2: Take care. Thank you.
