- 0:10Speaker 1: God bless football, Mikey A.
- 0:15Speaker 2: God bless football, Taylor.
- 0:17Speaker 3: God bless football and go Tigers.
- 0:20Speaker 4: Go Tigers. Taylor is back from Death Valley.
- 0:24Speaker 1: He made the drive up to LSU to check out
- 0:27Speaker 1: that game. It was a fun game for LSU, not
- 0:30Speaker 1: for Dabo Swinney and not for Clemson. The NFL kicks
- 0:33Speaker 1: off in a couple of days as well.
- 0:35Speaker 4: So we are back, boys. Yes, Mikey.
- 0:38Speaker 2: One little thing, all right? So Taylor reaches out to
- 0:40Speaker 2: me and goes, hey, Mike, can you help me out
- 0:42Speaker 2: with a tailgate for LSU? So I call in favors.
- 0:46Speaker 2: I get him set up. This guy is like, hey,
- 0:49Speaker 2: we're very happy to host him. Can't wait to turn
- 0:52Speaker 2: this guy into an LSU fan.
- 0:56Speaker 3: He didn't show up.
- 0:57Speaker 5: Really?
- 0:58Speaker 1: Really.
- 1:00Speaker 5: Well, what you'll notice at LSU, first off, it was
- 1:04Speaker 5: pouring rain on and off throughout the day. When it's
- 1:07Speaker 5: pouring rain, you don't really want to be bouncing around
- 1:09Speaker 5: tailgate to tailgate. And the other thing, the parade grounds
- 1:13Speaker 5: at LSU, if you've seen one tailgate, you've seen them all.
- 1:17Speaker 5: And everyone is very friendly, everyone. You just have to
- 1:20Speaker 5: go into a tailgate and say, hey, this is my
- 1:22Speaker 5: second time at Baton Rouge, the first time I went.
- 1:25Speaker 5: Brian Kelly absolutely ruined my experience so bad that I
- 1:29Speaker 5: had to put this trip back on my bucket list
- 1:32Speaker 5: to do it the right way. And everybody's like, oh,
- 1:34Speaker 5: come on in. The gumbo's nice and warm for you.
- 1:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I really sink into it. I give them my class.
- 1:40Speaker 4: I'm like, yeah, class of 04. In what school are
- 1:41Speaker 4: you class of 04?
- 1:48Speaker 1: In a place where people are very drunk and don't
- 1:50Speaker 1: know the difference.
- 1:53Speaker 4: We did this at the Chiefs game.
- 1:55Speaker 3: We just told everyone we were Chiefs fans.
- 1:57Speaker 4: You were there with me.
- 1:58Speaker 2: At Arrowhead Stadium.
- 1:59Speaker 1: And we got to every tailgate. Which tailgate did you
- 2:02Speaker 1: set Taylor up at? Was it like a Booger McFarlane?
- 2:04Speaker 1: Was it like someone like that?
- 2:05Speaker 3: No, if it was Booger McFarlane, I would have went.
- 2:08Speaker 2: He could have been there. You wouldn't know.
- 2:14Speaker 4: So he did set you up there. I see.
- 2:17Speaker 5: There is nothing like being in a college town because
- 2:20Speaker 5: I texted T-Bob Hebert, who played at LSU, was a
- 2:24Speaker 5: national champion at LSU. I said, hey, T-Bob, where are
- 2:27Speaker 5: the places that I should hit? He gave me a
- 2:29Speaker 5: breakfast spot to go to, Louie's, I believe. When you
- 2:32Speaker 5: are in a college town, if I give you $ 100,
- 2:35Speaker 5: you are living like an absolute king for the rest
- 2:38Speaker 5: of the day. Because I got to Louie's and I
- 2:40Speaker 5: was like, let me get the hash browns that T-Bob recommended,
- 2:44Speaker 5: the pancakes he recommended. Let me get a coffee, a
- 2:47Speaker 5: side of bacon, some eggs. And then they bring the
- 2:49Speaker 5: bill over, and they're like, that'll be $ 22.
- 2:52Speaker 4: I'm surprised it was that much. Seriously. That was your
- 3:00Speaker 4: first time to Death Valley?
- 3:02Speaker 3: It was my second time.
- 3:02Speaker 5: So the first time I went was 2024 LSU at Alabama,
- 3:07Speaker 5: and Alabama beat them by about 50 points.
- 3:11Speaker 3: It was a drubbing that day.
- 3:13Speaker 4: They're good.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:17Speaker 5: The pick six that LSU had was, was the loudest
- 3:19Speaker 5: I've ever heard a stadium. If it felt like it
- 3:21Speaker 5: was shaking, it felt like Clemson was going to make
- 3:25Speaker 5: it a bit of a game. Like you, you had
- 3:26Speaker 5: a little weird magic that that first possession where Leavitt
- 3:29Speaker 5: throws the interception, you're like, Oh wow, this could get
- 3:32Speaker 5: a little weird. But, but Saturday nights in death Valley,
- 3:36Speaker 5: you can't top that experience.
- 3:38Speaker 4: So you go there and Lane Kiffin is running.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Out of that tunnel and it's not Mississippi, it's LSU
- 3:42Speaker 1: and you realize this is why he took the job.
- 3:44Speaker 1: He's got three NFL players at every position and that's
- 3:48Speaker 1: his team without the NFL players who are going to
- 3:50Speaker 1: join his team in the coming weeks.
- 3:52Speaker 4: They're really good.
- 3:54Speaker 1: The bigger story for me out of that game was
- 3:57Speaker 1: not Lane Kiffin, was not LSU.
- 3:59Speaker 4: I know they're going to be good.
- 4:00Speaker 1: He's a good coach. He's great at collecting talent. He
- 4:03Speaker 1: is great at developing quarterbacks. He's done it now with
- 4:06Speaker 1: and he's done it with Jackson Dart, and he's going
- 4:08Speaker 1: to do it here with Sam Leavitt. Even though Leavitt
- 4:11Speaker 1: comes in pretty developed, he's going to make that guy better.
- 4:15Speaker 1: The story for me is just how far Clemson has
- 4:18Speaker 1: fallen at Dabo Sweeney.
- 4:20Speaker 4: I mean, if he makes it this season, I'm going
- 4:23Speaker 4: to be surprised. You guys?
- 4:25Speaker 3: I would be surprised.
- 4:26Speaker 5: I think it's going to come to a point at
- 4:28Speaker 5: the end of the season where Clemson has to be
- 4:30Speaker 5: the one to say, Dabo, thank you for everything you've
- 4:33Speaker 5: done for Clemson. Dabo Sweeney is... built Clemson into what
- 4:36Speaker 5: they are today. Dabo Sweeney is going to get a
- 4:38Speaker 5: statue outside of their stadium. Dabo Sweeney is not the
- 4:42Speaker 5: right coach for Clemson anymore because of the standard that
- 4:45Speaker 5: he's built and Dabo's reluctance to adjust to the times
- 4:49Speaker 5: in college football where he just refuses to use the
- 4:52Speaker 5: transfer portal, he refuses to use NIL, and he's just
- 4:56Speaker 5: doing the, oh, the only thing we care about here
- 4:58Speaker 5: is God's name, image, and likeness.
- 5:01Speaker 3: Dabo, win some games. Win some big games.
- 5:03Speaker 5: We want to see you get back to that 2018
- 5:06Speaker 5: National Championship standard that you've fallen off, you know, tremendously
- 5:10Speaker 5: off of.
- 5:10Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 5:11Speaker 2: I would say that Dabo's going to make the season
- 5:14Speaker 2: just out of respect. Out of just the respect Clemson
- 5:17Speaker 2: has for him and he has for the organization. But
- 5:20Speaker 2: my question to you guys is, is that a good job?
- 5:24Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 5:25Speaker 1: No, I think it's a good job, Mike, if you're
- 5:27Speaker 1: willing to play by today's rules. And I think Dabo
- 5:29Speaker 1: is not playing by today. I think they have resources.
- 5:31Speaker 1: I think people want to go to Clemson. I think
- 5:33Speaker 1: people like the stadium. They like the facilities. Dabo is
- 5:36Speaker 1: just unwilling to do what Lane Kiffin is doing at LSU.
- 5:40Speaker 5: And for the most part, it's an unbelievably easy conference
- 5:43Speaker 5: to compete in when you have Miami and then occasionally
- 5:47Speaker 5: a Louisville or an SMU is going to pop up.
- 5:49Speaker 5: Clemson should be there for the taking to getting them
- 5:52Speaker 5: back to being a national powerhouse.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Better job, Clemson or Florida State right now?
- 5:59Speaker 4: They're both good jobs. Comparable, yeah.
- 6:02Speaker 2: They're comparable, but I'm just saying, there's only so many
- 6:06Speaker 2: coaches that are worth getting such a high-profile job that
- 6:10Speaker 2: are available every year. If Clemson and Florida State are
- 6:13Speaker 2: both available, and we tend to believe that they are,
- 6:16Speaker 2: which job is better? Which job would you want?
- 6:21Speaker 5: I think it would be Florida State just because Florida
- 6:23Speaker 5: State is further removed from being a national title contender
- 6:28Speaker 5: to where you have a fan base that's more starved
- 6:31Speaker 5: for trying to get back there. And then you're in Florida,
- 6:34Speaker 5: which should theoretically be easier to recruit people to. But
- 6:39Speaker 5: I do think you're splitting hairs when you're choosing between
- 6:42Speaker 5: Clemson and Florida State.
- 6:44Speaker 4: Same.
- 6:44Speaker 1: I just think with Dabo, the days of Dabo replacing
- 6:47Speaker 1: someone at Texas or being the next Alabama, those days
- 6:50Speaker 1: are over. Dabo's not good enough. Who's going to want
- 6:53Speaker 1: that guy to be their coach, right? I mean, he's
- 6:55Speaker 1: going to have to go to rehab. He's going to
- 6:57Speaker 1: have to go to FIU, FAU, and try to make
- 7:00Speaker 1: his way back to one of those bigger programs. There's
- 7:03Speaker 1: not a big program in America that's going to hire
- 7:05Speaker 1: Dabo today.
- 7:06Speaker 4: Not one. Not one.
- 7:08Speaker 5: It's strange because it seems like something that Dabo could
- 7:13Speaker 5: very easily fix. Like we're going to go into the
- 7:16Speaker 5: transfer portal. We're going to bring in some of the
- 7:18Speaker 5: top players, but he is so like fist down on
- 7:23Speaker 5: the table being like, I'm going to do it my way.
- 7:25Speaker 5: We are going to recruit people through high school. This
- 7:28Speaker 5: is the right way to build a program where it's like, Debo,
- 7:30Speaker 5: if you're not, if you're not competing for national championships,
- 7:33Speaker 5: like your way is obviously not working.
- 7:36Speaker 3: Yes.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Miami has a new quarterback every year.
- 7:39Speaker 2: You're not even competing for ACC championships.
- 7:45Speaker 1: I mean, Louisville just takes Ohio state's backup. Who's not
- 7:48Speaker 1: good enough to play in front of Julian saying, and
- 7:50Speaker 1: Louisville is good.
- 7:51Speaker 3: They got a quarterback.
- 7:53Speaker 5: I will say this, Mikey, I do agree with you
- 7:54Speaker 5: that Clemson would let Dabo finish out the year, but
- 7:58Speaker 5: all of a sudden that week three game against North
- 8:00Speaker 5: Carolina in, in what Clemson calls death Valley. That that's,
- 8:04Speaker 5: That's a whole other point.
- 8:05Speaker 4: The Battle of Death Valley is done. LSU owns Death Valley.
- 8:10Speaker 5: Week three, North Carolina at Clemson. I've got that one
- 8:14Speaker 5: circled now as a toss-up game for North Carolina. Bill
- 8:16Speaker 5: Belichick could beat Dabo Sweeney.
- 8:18Speaker 3: All bets are off.
- 8:19Speaker 1: The rare game where you have the better coach.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Loser leaves town?
- 8:26Speaker 3: Might have a better roster, too.
- 8:30Speaker 4: Belichick is playing the game. Better than Dabo, at least.
- 8:34Speaker 4: It's not saying much. Let's get to a game.
- 8:38Speaker 1: First off, Taylor, before we get to this game, Mikey's
- 8:40Speaker 1: going to ask us whether or not we think teams
- 8:43Speaker 1: are good. If our opinion has been changed or not,
- 8:46Speaker 1: based on what we saw over the weekend.
- 8:47Speaker 4: They were good games.
- 8:48Speaker 1: They were thrilling games. But some of these better teams
- 8:52Speaker 1: didn't play great opponents.
- 8:54Speaker 4: But we'll do that in just a second.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Taylor, you had a bad take that you'd like to
- 8:56Speaker 1: take back? What is going on here?
- 8:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:59Speaker 5: Yeah, so this is just me being accountable because I
- 9:02Speaker 5: know some people praise me for saying, oh, wow, Taylor,
- 9:04Speaker 5: your takes are always right. Taylor, they're calling you the
- 9:07Speaker 5: tail oracle with how well you see the future.
- 9:10Speaker 3: The tail oracle? I'm trying to get that off the ground.
- 9:13Speaker 4: You're trying to get it off the ground.
- 9:14Speaker 1: People aren't getting it off the ground for you.
- 9:18Speaker 2: I'll tell you this, Taylor. Sounds like a great idea
- 9:20Speaker 2: for a segment.
- 9:21Speaker 3: Tell Oracle.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Maybe a Thursday night betting segment going into Thursday night football,
- 9:26Speaker 2: working way up.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Yes, but I'm proud of him. He has people saying
- 9:29Speaker 1: something that they're not saying. I mean, just in an
- 9:31Speaker 1: effort to build it up.
- 9:33Speaker 3: Well, if I say it, people are saying it. But
- 9:36Speaker 3: the take that I got so wrong.
- 9:38Speaker 2: Person is saying it.
- 9:41Speaker 5: So last year when I said Fernando Mendoza was going
- 9:43Speaker 5: to be like the breakout starring in college football, he
- 9:46Speaker 5: wins the Heisman. He's the number one pick in the
- 9:48Speaker 5: NFL draft. I try to try to replicate that this year.
- 9:52Speaker 5: And I went to Oklahoma state and drew Mestemaker. And
- 9:56Speaker 5: I said, Morris is coming over from North Texas. He's
- 10:00Speaker 5: bringing a lot of his guys over. It's similar to
- 10:02Speaker 5: the way Cignetti did it from James Madison to Indiana.
- 10:05Speaker 5: I think you could see a bump like that for
- 10:07Speaker 5: Oklahoma State. Oklahoma State's a 15 and a half point
- 10:10Speaker 5: favorite on the road at Tulsa. And The final score
- 10:16Speaker 5: is not indicative of how uncompetitive Oklahoma State was in
- 10:20Speaker 5: that game with somebody like Drew Mestemaker. Tulsa dragged them.
- 10:24Speaker 5: Oklahoma State was two of six on fourth down. They
- 10:27Speaker 5: didn't look like they belonged on the same field as Tulsa,
- 10:30Speaker 5: and Tulsa wins back-to-back years against a, I guess, an
- 10:34Speaker 5: in-state rival now. If you're Oklahoma State and you can't
- 10:36Speaker 5: beat Tulsa, this is, again, the Rutgers-UMass situation where I
- 10:41Speaker 5: think a team like Oklahoma State should have to hand
- 10:44Speaker 5: over their spot in the big 12 to a team
- 10:45Speaker 5: like Tulsa.
- 10:47Speaker 4: So you're taking the take back. That's it. You've seen
- 10:50Speaker 4: enough of a messy taker, whatever his name is.
- 10:53Speaker 3: I've seen enough of Oklahoma state.
- 10:56Speaker 5: It takes a big man to admit when he's wrong,
- 10:58Speaker 5: but you, you have to be willing to get off
- 11:01Speaker 5: the take as fast as possible. And this is me
- 11:03Speaker 5: seeing the Titanic going down and the band is playing.
- 11:06Speaker 5: And I'm saying, I'm getting on this. I'm getting on
- 11:09Speaker 5: the life raft and we're getting back to shore.
- 11:11Speaker 1: So, you know, this take is not going to repair itself,
- 11:13Speaker 1: meaning three or four weeks from.
- 11:16Speaker 4: Now, you might be right about this. You've heard he
- 11:19Speaker 4: settled it in your own mind.
- 11:20Speaker 1: It is going down like the Titanic. Titanic is what
- 11:24Speaker 1: I tried to say.
- 11:25Speaker 5: I saw how that offensive line went head to head
- 11:29Speaker 5: against Tulsa's defensive line. And once they get to Big
- 11:33Speaker 5: 12 play.
- 11:34Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 11:35Speaker 3: This Oklahoma State team is in trouble. And they play
- 11:38Speaker 3: Oregon this week.
- 11:38Speaker 4: All right.

- 13:04Speaker 1: Let's play a round of Is This Team Good? Mikey's
- 13:08Speaker 1: going to ask us about some of the bigger programs here,
- 13:12Speaker 1: and Taylor and I are going to tell you if
- 13:14Speaker 1: the team is good. I don't really know who's good
- 13:15Speaker 1: after this weekend.
- 13:16Speaker 4: I have no idea.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Well, it's more did your opinion of this team change,
- 13:20Speaker 2: not are they good. So we'll start here.
- 13:22Speaker 3: LSU. LSU.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Came in, this was a 10-point game. Stu, I believe
- 13:28Speaker 2: you took Clemson or.
- 13:29Speaker 3: I did.
- 13:30Speaker 2: The Bear took Clemson.
- 13:31Speaker 4: I took Clemson. I was 4-2, though, on the week, though.
- 13:33Speaker 4: I'd like to take some credit.
- 13:35Speaker 2: I was just trying to set you up there. But
- 13:37Speaker 2: everybody was on Clemson plus 10. Well, they lose by 41. LSU,
- 13:42Speaker 2: has your opinion of this team changed after one week?
- 13:47Speaker 1: I thought LSU was going to be good. LSU was very,
- 13:50Speaker 1: very good. Like, listen, if you're asking me, did it change?
- 13:53Speaker 1: I think they're better than I thought they were going
- 13:55Speaker 1: to be, but I thought they were going to be good.
- 13:56Speaker 1: They're just overwhelming. I mean, they're not just good. They're
- 14:01Speaker 1: really good and have a chance, of course, of winning
- 14:03Speaker 1: a national championship.
- 14:04Speaker 4: Yes.
- 14:05Speaker 5: I think that's the takeaway after watching the LSU game,
- 14:08Speaker 5: that LSU should be in the national title conversation where
- 14:11Speaker 5: you're looking at their odds to win the title. They're
- 14:13Speaker 5: plus 1,500 consistently. They're behind Oregon. They're behind Indiana. They're
- 14:17Speaker 5: behind Miami. I think LSU's performance on Saturday night proved that,
- 14:24Speaker 5: at the very least, they should be lumped into that
- 14:26Speaker 5: Indiana-Oregon bunch of teams that have less than 1,000, plus
- 14:31Speaker 5: 1,000 odds to win a national title because Sam Levitt
- 14:34Speaker 5: didn't really blow anybody away in terms of his ability
- 14:37Speaker 5: to pass the ball. And I think if LSU has
- 14:39Speaker 5: a downfall, it's going to be their ability to throw
- 14:41Speaker 5: the ball downfield. But what Lane Kiffin does as a
- 14:45Speaker 5: play caller is second to none right now in the country.
- 14:48Speaker 4: Yep, yep. And they have NFL players coming.
- 14:52Speaker 3: I love Lane Kiffin.
- 14:54Speaker 5: The way Lane Kiffin just swaggers up and down the sideline,
- 14:58Speaker 5: it's a sight to behold.
- 14:59Speaker 4: It's amazing, yes. And the swagger, it works when he's
- 15:02Speaker 4: winning the.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Way he won on Saturday night.
- 15:06Speaker 4: That first interception of the game, I was making fun
- 15:08Speaker 4: of Lane Kiffin. And Sam Leavitt. They had the last laugh. Anyway,
- 15:13Speaker 4: next team.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Hold on. So the guy that I was setting Taylor
- 15:17Speaker 2: up for the tailgate, I texted him. I said, how
- 15:21Speaker 2: are you guys feeling about Lane? And he goes, perfect
- 15:23Speaker 2: man for our crazy.
- 15:25Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:25Speaker 2: And you know what? I think he's right.
- 15:27Speaker 4: Yep.
- 15:28Speaker 3: Yep. I think he's right.
- 15:29Speaker 4: Yep. That's why he wanted that job. Yeah.
- 15:32Speaker 2: All right.
- 15:32Speaker 3: Next team up.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Alabama putting a drubbing on East Carolina 48-10. Has your
- 15:38Speaker 2: opinion of Alabama changed? Because we were kind of down
- 15:41Speaker 2: on them a little bit.
- 15:43Speaker 1: My opinion of their quarterback has changed. I didn't know
- 15:45Speaker 1: who the quarterback was. I didn't know if they had
- 15:47Speaker 1: a quarterback. I watched a little bit of that game.
- 15:49Speaker 1: That quarterback is really, really good. But again, it was
- 15:51Speaker 1: against Eastern Carolina. So I guess my opinion changed only
- 15:55Speaker 1: from the standpoint that quarterback appears to be pretty good.
- 15:58Speaker 1: And if he's that good against good teams, they're going
- 16:02Speaker 1: to be pretty good.
- 16:02Speaker 4: I think Alabama.
- 16:04Speaker 5: So my opinion, I'm keeping it the same where I'm
- 16:07Speaker 5: going in with a lot of trepidations with this Alabama
- 16:10Speaker 5: team because I want to see them against better competition
- 16:13Speaker 5: like Stu just mentioned. I think this is going to
- 16:16Speaker 5: be a good test for them this week playing Kentucky,
- 16:19Speaker 5: who Kentucky Kenny Minchey transfers in, and he looked really
- 16:23Speaker 5: good against Youngstown State. So I'm going to go the
- 16:26Speaker 5: jury's still out, Mikey, on this Alabama team because I'm
- 16:30Speaker 5: not ready to come to any. observations or conclusions after
- 16:34Speaker 5: beating ECU.
- 16:36Speaker 4: Mikey, is that one of the options? I mean, I
- 16:37Speaker 4: don't know.
- 16:38Speaker 5: Sure.
- 16:39Speaker 2: Has your opinion changed?
- 16:40Speaker 3: No.
- 16:41Speaker 2: It hasn't changed.
- 16:43Speaker 4: Jerry's still out. Okay. All right. I'm just saying the
- 16:47Speaker 4: quarterback is better than we expected. That's all.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Or at least he looked like he was pretty damn
- 16:52Speaker 1: good through one week. But again, it's the East Carolina Pirates.
- 16:55Speaker 4: I mean, did I get the nickname right? Yeah.
- 17:00Speaker 3: They were profiling their court.
- 17:01Speaker 5: This is why you can't take anything out of this
- 17:03Speaker 5: Alabama game. They were profiling this quarterback, and they were like,
- 17:06Speaker 5: this is where he started. And then he took off
- 17:09Speaker 5: three years to work in construction, and you're like, and
- 17:11Speaker 5: now he's playing in Bryant-Denny Stadium?
- 17:16Speaker 4: Is it Keylon Russell?
- 17:19Speaker 3: Yeah, that's Alabama's five-star.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Okay.
- 17:21Speaker 4: Yeah, he's good.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Alright, next two are teams with higher expectations that managed
- 17:28Speaker 2: to win this week, but maybe not as convincing as
- 17:32Speaker 2: we thought. We'll start with Oregon going back to Saturday.
- 17:35Speaker 2: They're in a dog fight with Boise State at home
- 17:39Speaker 2: and they end up winning 34-27 late. Has your opinion
- 17:44Speaker 2: of Oregon changed after one week?
- 17:47Speaker 1: My opinion of Boise State has changed after one week.
- 17:52Speaker 1: That team looked pretty good. I mean, they hung with Oregon.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Has my opinion of Oregon changed?
- 17:57Speaker 4: I still think just with that quarterback and It's Oregon.
- 18:01Speaker 4: They have athletes. They're going to be in the mix.
- 18:03Speaker 1: They're going to be a national championship title contender.
- 18:08Speaker 4: And they deserve to be.
- 18:09Speaker 1: They're a good team. Again, I thought Boise State was
- 18:11Speaker 1: the team that impressed me. I think Oregon just played
- 18:14Speaker 1: pretty good. Boise State played a lot better than I
- 18:17Speaker 1: think most people expected.
- 18:19Speaker 4: But I think Oregon's good. And no, my opinion hasn't changed.
- 18:22Speaker 5: So where my opinion has changed with Oregon, I love
- 18:26Speaker 5: their skill players. McLennan, Moore, Evan Stewart at receiver, Dante
- 18:32Speaker 5: Moore at quarterback, obviously. I'm not sure if I really
- 18:37Speaker 5: trust Dan Lanning. Dan Lanning feels like the Michael Jordan
- 18:41Speaker 5: of like James Franklin's where it's like, I really need
- 18:44Speaker 5: to see this guy start winning big games and having
- 18:47Speaker 5: his team ready to play before I'm buying the hype
- 18:51Speaker 5: that all of a sudden Oregon for as good a
- 18:53Speaker 5: history as they have within the past, like 25 years
- 18:56Speaker 5: in college football, They still haven't won a national championship,
- 19:00Speaker 5: and I really haven't seen anything from Dan Lanning to
- 19:03Speaker 5: think he's going to be the one that gets this
- 19:05Speaker 5: program over the hump.
- 19:07Speaker 2: I would just say that Boise State isn't the big
- 19:10Speaker 2: game you should measure it. This is more of like
- 19:12Speaker 2: the Michael Jordans and Mario Cristobals where you lose to
- 19:15Speaker 2: Louisville and SMU and you beat Ohio State. That's more
- 19:19Speaker 2: the Dan Lanning avenue right now.
- 19:21Speaker 4: They're at USC in three weeks. Next week, Dale, you
- 19:25Speaker 4: know where they're at?
- 19:27Speaker 3: Where's that?
- 19:28Speaker 4: Your boy, Mess Taker.
- 19:29Speaker 3: Yeah, Oklahoma State.
- 19:33Speaker 5: If they don't beat that team by 55, then my
- 19:36Speaker 5: opinion is going to go, this Oregon team might not
- 19:38Speaker 5: even make the playoffs. Because that Oklahoma State team, I
- 19:41Speaker 5: was offended watching how bad that Oklahoma State team was.
- 19:46Speaker 2: Going back to Oregon, I agree with you. I trust
- 19:49Speaker 2: their quarterback.
- 19:49Speaker 3: I trust.
- 19:50Speaker 2: trust their wide receivers, their skill positions. I thought their
- 19:53Speaker 2: lines were just going to overwhelm Boise State, and they didn't.
- 19:57Speaker 2: I was looking forward to watching their defensive line just
- 20:01Speaker 2: absolutely manhandle Boise State, and they couldn't. I mean, they
- 20:04Speaker 2: got some big sacks when it mattered, but for the
- 20:07Speaker 2: most part, Boise State was able to do what they wanted.
- 20:09Speaker 5: To do Their defense in their secondary leaves a lot
- 20:13Speaker 5: to be desired. When they have to go to Ohio
- 20:16Speaker 5: State and have to be matched up with that receiving
- 20:19Speaker 5: group and Jeremiah Smith, that's going to be a pretty
- 20:23Speaker 5: big game for Oregon determining if this team is actually
- 20:26Speaker 5: a national title contender.
- 20:27Speaker 1: We are talking about a coach here who's 49-8 since
- 20:30Speaker 1: he took over at Oregon.
- 20:31Speaker 4: I'm just saying. He's got three losses the last two years.
- 20:40Speaker 3: And most of them are to the teams that won
- 20:42Speaker 3: the national championship.
- 20:43Speaker 4: How far did they get in the playoffs last year?
- 20:45Speaker 4: How far did that team advance? Do you remember? I
- 20:50Speaker 4: think they won a couple of games, right?
- 20:52Speaker 3: I mean, they lost to Indiana in the semis.
- 20:56Speaker 4: In the semifinals. Okay. No shame. I can't believe I'm
- 21:00Speaker 4: saying this. There's no shame.
- 21:01Speaker 3: It used to bring maximum shame.
- 21:02Speaker 4: And now there's no shame.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Oh God.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Lost by 34.
- 21:11Speaker 4: Yeah, well, that's true. Yes, they got blown out by
- 21:13Speaker 4: Kurt Cignetti. All right, who's next, Mikey?
- 21:17Speaker 2: Next up, Michigan, number 16, hosting Western Michigan. And in
- 21:24Speaker 2: the most controversial of endings, they win on a Hail
- 21:27Speaker 2: Mary 13-12. Has your opinion of Michigan changed?
- 21:34Speaker 1: I didn't think Michigan was that good coming into the season, so...
- 21:38Speaker 1: If you're asking me, can Michigan win? Can they make
- 21:40Speaker 1: the playoff?
- 21:41Speaker 4: Yes. Can they win the national championship?
- 21:43Speaker 3: No.
- 21:45Speaker 4: That game was so ridiculous.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Like Mikey, were you aware that we're looking at a
- 21:50Speaker 1: different clock than the officials are looking at?
- 21:52Speaker 4: I had no idea.
- 21:53Speaker 2: I thought, I thought one of the things the officials
- 21:56Speaker 2: say at the beginning of every game is the clock
- 22:00Speaker 2: is right. Like that is what you're supposed to be
- 22:03Speaker 2: looking at. And they're like, no, no, no. There's this
- 22:05Speaker 2: secret clock somewhere. That had one more second on it.
- 22:08Speaker 4: Right.
- 22:09Speaker 2: But I will say that the whole controversy of the
- 22:12Speaker 2: refs gave the game to Michigan.
- 22:14Speaker 4: No one wants to give anything to Michigan, okay?
- 22:17Speaker 5: I mean, seriously.
- 22:18Speaker 2: It was a 50-yard Hail Mary.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Listen, think about what's happened at Michigan over the last
- 22:23Speaker 1: three or four seasons. There's Jim Harbaugh who won a
- 22:27Speaker 1: national championship. That's going to be retracted at some point, okay?
- 22:31Speaker 1: There's the Connor Stallions incident. There's Jerome Moore in a
- 22:34Speaker 1: straight jacket after the season last year. No one is saying, hey,
- 22:38Speaker 1: you know what? We need to help out Michigan. Certainly
- 22:41Speaker 1: not the referees. They don't get together saying, hey, let's
- 22:44Speaker 1: give them one more play. And the one more play
- 22:46Speaker 1: they gave them was a heave from 55 yards.
- 22:50Speaker 3: I mean, Jesus.
- 22:52Speaker 4: So they put the ball to one.
- 22:55Speaker 5: So my opinion of Michigan has changed just because I
- 22:57Speaker 5: think The rebuild that Kyle Whittingham has in Ann Arbor
- 23:02Speaker 5: is going to be a lot more difficult than I
- 23:04Speaker 5: think people probably originally expected, where Bryce Underwood, give him
- 23:10Speaker 5: credit for completing that second attempt at the Hail Mary,
- 23:14Speaker 5: and he was strutting around after that. The Michigan fans
- 23:18Speaker 5: are storming the field for beating Western Michigan.
- 23:20Speaker 4: They shouldn't be doing that.
- 23:22Speaker 5: Bryce Underwood, if that game was 48 minutes, Bryce Underwood
- 23:28Speaker 5: was terrible for 47 minutes and 50 seconds.
- 23:34Speaker 3: 59 seconds.
- 23:35Speaker 4: Taylor, I'm so proud of you. Michigan and their fan
- 23:37Speaker 4: base should be celebrating nothing. Dude, that wasn't a victory.
- 23:41Speaker 4: Don't celebrate anything. You know what?
- 23:43Speaker 1: When you win a game like that, all right, be quiet.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Walk out of the stadium like you just robbed.
- 23:48Speaker 4: The bank because that's what you did.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Don't celebrate robbing the bank. Just rob the bank and
- 23:54Speaker 1: get the hell out of Dodge.
- 23:55Speaker 3: That's it.
- 23:56Speaker 2: My opinion of Michigan has absolutely changed. That's a game
- 24:01Speaker 2: where you go, if nothing else, Michigan's defense and offensive
- 24:04Speaker 2: line should absolutely just steamroll everybody, and they're going to
- 24:08Speaker 2: just win this game. It'll be ugly.
- 24:10Speaker 4: It'll be boring.
- 24:11Speaker 2: But they're going to beat Western Michigan because they're just
- 24:14Speaker 2: going to overwhelm them. They couldn't even do that. They
- 24:17Speaker 2: were manhandled by Western Michigan, and just say that out loud.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Manhandled by Western Michigan.
- 24:24Speaker 5: If there are football gods this week, Oklahoma versus Michigan,
- 24:28Speaker 5: Oklahoma is going to absolutely destroy this Michigan team. So
- 24:32Speaker 5: Michigan gets this loss. Stu, I'm watching Bryce Underwood and
- 24:36Speaker 5: his NIL reported deal is like $ 12 million.
- 24:39Speaker 3: If you gave me $ 12.
- 24:41Speaker 5: Million and I lit it on fire, That would be
- 24:44Speaker 5: put to better use than paying Bryce Underwood to play
- 24:46Speaker 5: quarterback at your program in the year 2026.
- 24:49Speaker 3: He is terrible.
- 24:51Speaker 1: He can't stand Bryce Underwood.
- 24:55Speaker 2: He's terrible. 12 of 22 for 170 yards, again, against
- 24:58Speaker 2: Western Michigan.
- 25:00Speaker 4: Right, and strutting around like he had a Heisman moment
- 25:02Speaker 4: or something. What is he doing?
- 25:03Speaker 3: What was that?
- 25:04Speaker 1: Right, what if Western Michigan goes on to win all
- 25:07Speaker 1: of its games?
- 25:10Speaker 4: Will the committee look back at that? I'd say they
- 25:12Speaker 4: got to get it.
- 25:13Speaker 5: I mean, I did actually have that thought from the
- 25:17Speaker 5: UMass Rutgers game where everybody's making fun of Rutgers, inventing
- 25:20Speaker 5: college football and then losing to a team that hadn't
- 25:23Speaker 5: beaten an FBS opponent since they came up to the
- 25:26Speaker 5: FBS level. What if UMass is kind of like college
- 25:29Speaker 5: football darling this year and then Rutgers is looking back
- 25:31Speaker 5: at their win and like, hey, remember when everybody made
- 25:33Speaker 5: fun of us for lighting off those fireworks at UMass team?
- 25:36Speaker 3: Look at them. They're in the playoffs now. Pretty good.
- 25:38Speaker 3: Pop Watson. Yeah.
- 25:39Speaker 4: Yeah. Here's what I can tell you.
- 25:40Speaker 5: Okay.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Now, listen, you would have laughed at me like Indiana
- 25:43Speaker 1: did it. So anyone could do it. UMass is never
- 25:45Speaker 1: making the college football playoff.
- 25:46Speaker 4: It's not happening.
- 25:51Speaker 3: You would have said the same thing about James Madison.
- 25:53Speaker 4: Yeah. You're right. I did. And Indiana. All right, Mikey,
- 26:01Speaker 4: how many more teams left here?
- 26:03Speaker 2: Two more.
- 26:03Speaker 3: Two more.
- 26:04Speaker 4: We'll start.
- 26:05Speaker 2: We'll start in your neck of the woods. Miami 45
- 26:08Speaker 2: to six over Stanford. Yes. Darian Mensah, 401 yards, five touchdowns,
- 26:16Speaker 2: but Malachi Tony had over half of them, 12 receptions,
- 26:20Speaker 2: 234 yards and three touchdowns. Has your opinion of Miami changed?
- 26:25Speaker 5: If that Miami game was Saturday instead of Friday, it's,
- 26:29Speaker 5: Miami would be more in the national conversation for how
- 26:32Speaker 5: dominant that performance.
- 26:33Speaker 4: Maybe the talk of college football right now. Yeah, it would.
- 26:35Speaker 1: I know it's against Stanford. I know Stanford's not very good.
- 26:38Speaker 1: They traveled across the country. They beat Stanford the way
- 26:41Speaker 1: you're supposed to beat Stanford. Mensah was ridiculous. And Malachi
- 26:45Speaker 1: Tony is better. I mean, Malachi Tony reminds me. I
- 26:49Speaker 1: know everyone's saying this of Tariq Hill.
- 26:51Speaker 4: He is so good, man.
- 26:53Speaker 1: And I'm not going to be surprised if Tony is
- 26:55Speaker 1: sitting in the Heisman Trophy presentation because he's one of
- 26:58Speaker 1: the finalists for the Heisman Trophy.
- 27:00Speaker 4: I could see that happening, actually.
- 27:01Speaker 3: Yeah, we should amend that rule, right?
- 27:03Speaker 5: Like there's no reason that Malachi Tony should have to
- 27:06Speaker 5: come back to Miami next season and not be in
- 27:08Speaker 5: the NFL. Like it's similar to right now in Columbus
- 27:11Speaker 5: when you're watching Jeremiah Smith manhandle and dominate people outside
- 27:15Speaker 5: at receiver. Like this guy probably would have been a
- 27:18Speaker 5: top five pick in the NFL draft last year if
- 27:21Speaker 5: Jeremiah Smith was allowed to enter. And it feels like
- 27:23Speaker 5: Malachi Toney would be a top 15 pick the way
- 27:26Speaker 5: he's a playmaker at that receiver position.
- 27:28Speaker 1: If you look at that schedule, Mikey, the only game
- 27:30Speaker 1: that the Canes could lose is at Notre Dame.
- 27:33Speaker 4: And that's debatable. Whoa. What?
- 27:36Speaker 3: At North Carolina?
- 27:42Speaker 4: One and out, man. You're undefeated. You look good, too.
- 27:47Speaker 4: You should have a better record than Michigan right now.
- 27:50Speaker 5: And it's the week before they have to go to
- 27:52Speaker 5: Notre Dame, so it's a little look-ahead spot for them.
- 27:54Speaker 4: Yep, no doubt. All right, last team here, Mikey.
- 27:57Speaker 2: Well, you guys were just talking about it. North Carolina,
- 28:00Speaker 2: has your opinion changed? 1-0 after the bye week still?
- 28:03Speaker 4: I mean, I had them at 11-1 when we did win-loss, so,
- 28:06Speaker 4: I mean, I'm still there. Yep.
- 28:08Speaker 3: I think this team is pretty terrible.
