- 0:01Speaker 1: The sun is shining out a cloud in the sky.
- 0:05Speaker 2: We wouldn't know because we're so happy inside.
- 0:10Speaker 3: Some people.
- 0:12Speaker 1: On some skis, but.
- 0:14Speaker 2: We would rather sit on down and talk.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Some movies.
- 0:17Speaker 4: Were the evid indoorsmen. Come listen to our show. We're
- 0:22Speaker 4: the evident indoorsmen at home on the go? Were the evidendorsmen.
- 0:29Speaker 4: We hope you love it, so come on in and stay.
- 0:33Speaker 4: We'll do our best to.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Make use my.
- 0:37Speaker 3: Indoors man. What is happening? I'm robling Christ and I'm
- 0:43Speaker 3: b here are the evid indoors me. Hello everyone, Hello,
- 0:48Speaker 3: Hello worr pal. I am doing pretty well, buddy. I'm
- 0:54Speaker 3: doing better than you are for our listeners, because let
- 0:58Speaker 3: me know that he had a pretty rough night last night.
- 1:02Speaker 5: I did, I did.
- 1:03Speaker 1: I drank so much and it was just I did
- 1:06Speaker 1: a lot of cocaine. Oh gosh, what they say, right,
- 1:09Speaker 1: that's what people do. That's not what you do. I
- 1:12Speaker 1: got a stomach bug or something, so I was I
- 1:14Speaker 1: was vomiting like a small child. No, I vomited a
- 1:18Speaker 1: small child. Sorry, you said that wrong, So you still
- 1:22Speaker 1: got it. You still got it. But I feel pretty
- 1:25Speaker 1: good right now. I had some caffeine, which I think
- 1:28Speaker 1: will help at least keep me awake till we're done
- 1:30Speaker 1: here today. So but if I make even less sense
- 1:34Speaker 1: than normal, uh you know why, or let's just blame
- 1:37Speaker 1: it on that. We'll blame it on that.
- 1:38Speaker 3: Well, you're a trooper. Thanks for doing this. We were
- 1:40Speaker 3: supposed to do it yesterday. I guess. I guess it's that.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Actually it probably worked out. I don't even know who knows,
- 1:47Speaker 1: who knows, but yeah, ultimately not a huge deal. But
- 1:50Speaker 1: it is so uh that does not happen to me
- 1:54Speaker 1: a lot.
- 1:55Speaker 3: I'm with you.
- 1:56Speaker 1: You're kind of similar with that. Yeah, you know, just like, yeah,
- 1:59Speaker 1: that's not usually think. But man, she got me good
- 2:02Speaker 1: last night.
- 2:02Speaker 3: Oh and it's the worst feeling. I hate that so much.
- 2:06Speaker 5: It's really rough, really rough.
- 2:08Speaker 1: So but anyway, I am here, you're here, and I
- 2:11Speaker 1: am so excited to talk to you. How are you.
- 2:13Speaker 3: I'm doing really well, man, we were right now. We
- 2:16Speaker 3: have our week off in between the Into the Deep
- 2:19Speaker 3: tour which finished, and then we're waiting to go on
- 2:21Speaker 3: to the Jukebox tour. And so today I was going
- 2:26Speaker 3: through all my songs, which there's a.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Lot of them, a lot of them where like there's
- 2:34Speaker 1: some variability, right depending on the city or the venue
- 2:38Speaker 1: or whatever.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Yeah, so I got to know like an extra like
- 2:41Speaker 3: twenty songs in case they get chosen. Yeah, so it'll
- 2:47Speaker 3: be different. It'll be different, the the set will be
- 2:50Speaker 3: different every night because the the folks get to vote
- 2:56Speaker 3: on what they want to hear.
- 2:57Speaker 1: That's fun. It's fun. I mean it's a lot of work,
- 3:00Speaker 1: I get it, but it's it is a cool idea.
- 3:03Speaker 1: God bless Adam Bestine, I mean all of you, but
- 3:06Speaker 1: especially for having to learn all of those two yeah blausers.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Yeah. We also we're redoing some songs and we're changing
- 3:14Speaker 3: them just ever so solid so everything better is like
- 3:18Speaker 3: in my brain, I gotta switch that a little bit.
- 3:22Speaker 1: But it's not enough that I'll remember, but enough that
- 3:24Speaker 1: I'll screw it probably half the time, you know, sure
- 3:27Speaker 1: I will yea. That is super, especially when it's like
- 3:31Speaker 1: a background like arrangement, you know, like ref Well, I
- 3:36Speaker 1: can't wait to see it. We haven't talked about it since,
- 3:39Speaker 1: but I got to see the end of the Deep too,
- 3:43Speaker 1: So fun. What a fun day that was. It was
- 3:45Speaker 1: the best.
- 3:45Speaker 3: That was a great day. My family also came out
- 3:48Speaker 3: that day, so we it was fun. Man.
- 3:50Speaker 1: I got to watch it with your kiddos and your
- 3:52Speaker 1: lovely What a lovely time we had. Yeah, poor little
- 3:56Speaker 1: Charlie was man, he was still ruggle and.
- 3:59Speaker 3: Second I was so tired. Yeah.
- 4:01Speaker 1: What did he say to you in the in the intermission?
- 4:04Speaker 5: Oh?
- 4:05Speaker 1: He was like, is this like the end or is
- 4:07Speaker 1: this halftime? Oh yeah, you said half halftime.
- 4:10Speaker 3: He's like half time time. Oh no. I was like,
- 4:15Speaker 3: I'm sorry, buddy. I was like, you to just fall asleep.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Yeah, but he I mean he maybe fell asleep for
- 4:22Speaker 1: a little bit, but mostly he was up and fine.
- 4:24Speaker 1: I think he was kind of keeping him going maybe
- 4:27Speaker 1: a little bit.
- 4:27Speaker 3: But yeah, eleven pm is pretty late for those guys,
- 4:30Speaker 3: so they were they were.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Tired, pretty late for this guy. So I get this
- 4:34Speaker 1: guy too, I hear him. But it was a great
- 4:37Speaker 1: tour if that happens again, and I recommend people go
- 4:40Speaker 1: check it out because it was Thank you. It was
- 4:42Speaker 1: a ton of fun, dude.
- 4:43Speaker 3: Really we had a blast. Man. Those guys are just
- 4:46Speaker 3: so sweet. Hopefully, if we ever do it again, Robbie
- 4:49Speaker 3: will actually be able to be there for sure, even
- 4:52Speaker 3: though that's a pretty great bit.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, and it worked out so well. Yeah, that
- 4:58Speaker 1: little bit it was really funny.
- 5:00Speaker 3: So yeah, man, the last show, they do a song
- 5:04Speaker 3: where they hit things. It's called the Hammer in the
- 5:06Speaker 3: end Villain, I believe, and Chance used Robbie's arm, his
- 5:14Speaker 3: mannequin arm and it completely shattered.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Really yeah, so kind of a perfect finality.
- 5:21Speaker 3: It worked. Yeah, And so then we ended up like
- 5:25Speaker 3: taping it all together and like we all signed it
- 5:27Speaker 3: and I think we're doing something with it. But yeah,
- 5:30Speaker 3: it was.
- 5:31Speaker 1: It was a fun tour, man, that's hilarious. Yeah, really
- 5:34Speaker 1: great carew of dudes. I mean, the everything was so fun.
- 5:36Speaker 1: I heard it while you were with your family. I
- 5:38Speaker 1: heard it out all day with the most.
- 5:39Speaker 3: Great dude, Adam Rock. He played games every single.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Day with those guys, dude, and they loved it. He
- 5:47Speaker 1: didn't win a single one the day I was there,
- 5:50Speaker 1: and that probably made him irate. He is not gonna
- 5:54Speaker 1: like that you said that on this upsetate. He doesn't listen.
- 5:59Speaker 1: I know that, but he'll know.
- 6:01Speaker 3: He'll someone.
- 6:01Speaker 1: I'll tell them probably. I hope they do, because I
- 6:04Speaker 1: whooped that ass a couple of times and that does
- 6:08Speaker 1: not happen often. So I like to rub it in
- 6:10Speaker 1: when I can. You gotta like you gotta. But we're
- 6:14Speaker 1: here to talk some movies. What's the most recent movie
- 6:16Speaker 1: you've seen?
- 6:17Speaker 6: Pal?
- 6:18Speaker 3: I watched a newer a twenty four film on the
- 6:21Speaker 3: plane back from Nashville, and it's called Sorry Baby. Have
- 6:27Speaker 3: you heard anything about this?
- 6:28Speaker 1: Yeah? I watched this movie. Wait? Did I watch this movie?
- 6:30Speaker 1: I think I watched this movie. Okay, I'll look at it.
- 6:33Speaker 1: I look it up for the people at home.
- 6:35Speaker 3: It's written, directed, and starred by a woman named Ava Victor.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Yes, I did watch this. It's great.
- 6:42Speaker 3: It's a great, great film. This is her first film
- 6:45Speaker 3: she's written and directed. She has acted in quite a
- 6:49Speaker 3: few things. Apparently she was a regular on the show Billions, which.
- 6:53Speaker 1: I really only saw a handful of those episode sign
- 6:56Speaker 1: of that. Yeah, yeah, I didn't know she Okay, so
- 6:59Speaker 1: she did that.
- 7:00Speaker 3: Yeah. It's really well written. She created some really interesting characters.
- 7:05Speaker 3: It has Naomi Aki, who's been in a bunch of
- 7:07Speaker 3: things recently.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Lucas Hedges.
- 7:10Speaker 3: Yeah, and it even features our guy John Carol Lynch
- 7:13Speaker 3: for one glorious scene.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Glorious scene though so great.
- 7:18Speaker 3: He was wonderful. He makes every movie better. Yeah, it's
- 7:23Speaker 3: kind of a bummer of a movie just because, like, yeah,
- 7:27Speaker 3: a bad thing happens to the main character and it's
- 7:29Speaker 3: her trying to deal with it. But it does have
- 7:33Speaker 3: a bunch of heart and humor surrounding it, which makes
- 7:37Speaker 3: it not a total bummer.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it is a weird combination of those two things.
- 7:43Speaker 1: I agree because I loved it and found it very
- 7:46Speaker 1: uplifting by the end. But I totally agree with you,
- 7:49Speaker 1: like is it's tough, right, and there's some tough subject
- 7:53Speaker 1: matter happening in it. Yeah, I'm with you, though I
- 7:56Speaker 1: was knocked up by that movie. I loved it a lot.
- 7:58Speaker 1: I thought it was great.
- 7:59Speaker 3: I wouldn't be surprised if she gets a nomination for
- 8:02Speaker 3: Best Original Screenplay. Possibly good call, But yeah, it's if anything,
- 8:08Speaker 3: it's just it's a really well done movie. And I
- 8:11Speaker 3: watched it on the flight home for Nashville, and that's
- 8:13Speaker 3: only an hour and a half, so it was it
- 8:14Speaker 3: was a pretty quick watch as well. Agreed, Thanks, it
- 8:18Speaker 3: was a US movie you watched.
- 8:20Speaker 1: I went to the theater and saw a movie with
- 8:23Speaker 1: what I can only assume was a slightly larger budget.
- 8:25Speaker 1: It was called One Battle after Another. Have you seen this.
- 8:29Speaker 3: Yet, I haven't.
- 8:31Speaker 1: I haven't got a chance, which I get I've had.
- 8:34Speaker 3: The chance, but I'm like, it's like three hours in
- 8:37Speaker 3: and out so long.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I get you that. Yeah, I get it.
- 8:42Speaker 1: I get it. It is it is long. It doesn't
- 8:45Speaker 1: feel that long when you're watching it. I know that
- 8:47Speaker 1: doesn't help you in your like, you know, finding a
- 8:51Speaker 1: chunk of day to go do that, But it really
- 8:53Speaker 1: doesn't feel that long. It's a great film. This is
- 8:57Speaker 1: the newest Paul Thomas Anderson film. It features Leo, Sean Penno,
- 9:03Speaker 1: Benicio del Toro, who I think is my favorite part of.
- 9:06Speaker 5: The whole movie.
- 9:07Speaker 1: He's just I mean, that dude is a charisma bomb anyway,
- 9:11Speaker 1: but man, his character is fun in this really weird,
- 9:16Speaker 1: fun movie, talking about like ex revolutionaries and their life
- 9:22Speaker 1: and it involves his daughter and like stuff going crazy
- 9:25Speaker 1: with Leo. It's really really good. It's absolutely gonna be.
- 9:29Speaker 3: Up for some awards. I'm hearing Leo.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Possibly absolutely, He's so good in it as sort of
- 9:35Speaker 1: a different character than I've seen him play before, because
- 9:39Speaker 1: he's kind of like bumbling and like a little like
- 9:41Speaker 1: neurotic and worried and stuff, but really really good, and
- 9:46Speaker 1: it's it's really fun, so you're gonna love it when
- 9:48Speaker 1: you see it. But it is two hours and forty
- 9:51Speaker 1: one minute, so it's she's a long one for sure.
- 9:55Speaker 3: With previews, it's gonna be three hours for sure.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure, But I recommend if you like uh.
- 10:01Speaker 1: And and I go back and forth on Paul Thomas
- 10:03Speaker 1: Anderson films. I mean they're all like well done and
- 10:06Speaker 1: beautifully shot and all that, but they're the subject matters.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Sometimes I'm like, hey, you know whatever, this one was
- 10:12Speaker 1: really fun, action packed, so I.
- 10:16Speaker 3: Really like that.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Definitely not a Paul Thomas Anderson That's what I thought too,
- 10:20Speaker 1: But this is like epic action going on this one.
- 10:23Speaker 1: So it's it's pretty fun. Man. I think you specifically
- 10:27Speaker 1: are going to really love it, and I think I'm
- 10:29Speaker 1: as well too. And it'll uh, it'll be up. Maybe
- 10:33Speaker 1: we'll even do it a podcast on it. If it wins,
- 10:35Speaker 1: like wow, Best Picture something Wow, I don't feel a
- 10:38Speaker 1: little surprised.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Maybe who knows Pta has the best picture. I don't
- 10:44Speaker 3: know if he did.
- 10:45Speaker 1: He win for the Master? Was that him?
- 10:47Speaker 3: Definitely not? That was him? But he didn't win Best
- 10:50Speaker 3: Picture for that? Yeah, the only one I can think
- 10:53Speaker 3: of is maybe there will be blood. But I don't
- 10:55Speaker 3: think that one best picture.
- 10:56Speaker 1: I don't think it did either. I think you're right.
- 10:58Speaker 1: So yeah, but it was. It was really good and
- 11:02Speaker 1: it's getting greater views and all that, so yeah, check
- 11:06Speaker 1: it out.
- 11:07Speaker 3: We'll do.
- 11:07Speaker 1: But have you been streaming anything?
- 11:09Speaker 3: Yeah, And the last one I talked about how I
- 11:11Speaker 3: had started Black Rabbit. I have since finished it, and
- 11:16Speaker 3: I thought it It's pretty dark, it's pretty intense. It
- 11:20Speaker 3: kind of made me feel anxious, kind of feels like
- 11:23Speaker 3: uncut gems where the main character just keeps making the
- 11:26Speaker 3: wrong decisions over and over and over. So, right, it
- 11:30Speaker 3: wasn't my favorite series ever, but I will say that
- 11:35Speaker 3: the acting from Jude Law and especially Jason Bateman in
- 11:38Speaker 3: the last three episodes is fantastic, nice, very cool, and
- 11:43Speaker 3: so that was worth checking out for me.
- 11:47Speaker 1: They like brothers right or something.
- 11:49Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, and they just it's one of those where
- 11:54Speaker 3: it's like not sure who I'm rooting for here. Yeah, yeah,
- 11:58Speaker 3: you know, one of those, and so I've been having
- 12:01Speaker 3: a harder time with those series lately. But yeah, the
- 12:06Speaker 3: last three episodes are worth the watch for what they were,
- 12:11Speaker 3: and they're all extremely well done. They're directed well like
- 12:14Speaker 3: it has like a whole esthetic that is impressive.
- 12:18Speaker 1: That's like the filmmaking was impressive.
- 12:21Speaker 3: I get that was more just the subject matters, just
- 12:23Speaker 3: like oh why well you.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Kind of don't need to be bumped out constantly. Yeah,
- 12:30Speaker 1: so thanks where I was. But yeah, Jason Bateman, great stuff.
- 12:34Speaker 1: I'm sure he's going to be up forwards. I think
- 12:36Speaker 1: I'm definitely gonna watch that. I just don't know when.
- 12:38Speaker 1: I haven't started it yet, so yeah, we'll see. Yeah,
- 12:41Speaker 1: nice cool. What have you been watching? I watched I
- 12:45Speaker 1: think it only had four episodes for this first season,
- 12:49Speaker 1: which is kind of interesting. But mini series Marvel Zombies
- 12:53Speaker 1: came out.
- 12:54Speaker 3: I never even heard of this.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Four episodes of the Marble folks. If any anyone watched,
- 13:00Speaker 1: what if they did a zombie you know sort of
- 13:04Speaker 1: they did like one plot line that was zombies. This
- 13:06Speaker 1: is four episodes all in that world.
- 13:08Speaker 3: Interesting.
- 13:09Speaker 1: It's really cool and very interesting. They bring in some
- 13:13Speaker 1: characters that have only been in like the TV series,
- 13:17Speaker 1: and then like a couple that have been what's her
- 13:21Speaker 1: name now, I can't think of it, Miss Marvel. I
- 13:23Speaker 1: think is her name? That Iman Villani? I don't think
- 13:27Speaker 1: you ever watched that show, but much.
- 13:29Speaker 3: The show, but she was in like Captain Martin.
- 13:31Speaker 1: She was in yep. Yeah, but anyway, she does a voice.
- 13:37Speaker 1: A bunch of a bunch of the folks do their
- 13:39Speaker 1: own voices of their characters, and it's just fun in
- 13:42Speaker 1: that world to be able to see character lines you
- 13:44Speaker 1: probably wouldn't see otherwise. And the Marvel Zombies is really
- 13:47Speaker 1: interesting because you really get a nice mixture of a
- 13:51Speaker 1: bunch of characters. You know, they have a billion of
- 13:54Speaker 1: them now. So uh, it was really fun and it
- 13:56Speaker 1: had a pretty compelling arc throughout it, and the end
- 14:00Speaker 1: of it left me they're for sure making a season two,
- 14:03Speaker 1: it sounds like at some point, and I'm intrigued by
- 14:07Speaker 1: it kind of left me in a little bit of
- 14:08Speaker 1: a cliffhanger. So it was fun. I liked it a lot. Nice. Yeah,
- 14:11Speaker 1: that was pretty neat. You know, it's kind of niche
- 14:14Speaker 1: because it's like, yeah, you have to like animated and
- 14:16Speaker 1: Marvel a lot, I feel like.
- 14:18Speaker 3: But the whole thing is four episodes.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Yeah, this whole first the whole first series, first season
- 14:25Speaker 1: is the right word. It's just four episodes, so and
- 14:28Speaker 1: they're like thirty minutes, so you're not in it for
- 14:30Speaker 1: like a huge you know, time commitment or anything, which
- 14:33Speaker 1: is kind of nice sometimes. So yeah, but I recommend it.
- 14:35Speaker 5: I really liked it.
- 14:36Speaker 1: I thought it was cool, cool, nice. What do you
- 14:39Speaker 1: think should we do if you plug our runs? Yeah?
- 14:41Speaker 1: It nice. You guys can usit. That's always over on
- 14:44Speaker 1: the Twitter machine where we're at evid Indoorsman with a Z,
- 14:47Speaker 1: or you can go to Facebook dot com slash the
- 14:49Speaker 1: Ebed Indorsman. Also available on Instagram, Tick Talk, Blue Sky
- 14:53Speaker 1: at threads.
- 14:54Speaker 5: We're all over the place, but if.
- 14:56Speaker 1: You really want to hang out and be part of
- 14:57Speaker 1: the crow spot to go.
- 14:59Speaker 3: Atreon Slash the Avid Endorsment. Yeah, it's a great time
- 15:03Speaker 3: on patron and we love our patrons. We have a
- 15:05Speaker 3: lot of perks. One of those is getting a shout
- 15:07Speaker 3: out here. So let's say, what's up to Marsha Grisiac,
- 15:10Speaker 3: Mary Fox, Nannette Walkley. You have Brosta deb Olk and
- 15:14Speaker 3: Noel Flores. You guys, you're pretty great. Thanks so much
- 15:17Speaker 3: for your patronage. Another perk that we like to give
- 15:21Speaker 3: our patrons is an extended version of every episode that
- 15:23Speaker 3: we put out. We'll usually do a top five draft
- 15:26Speaker 3: that pertains to the movie we're talking about. And for
- 15:28Speaker 3: this one, we're doing our top five favorite spoof movies
- 15:33Speaker 3: or parody films.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Yeah. I think it's gonna be fun. I had quite
- 15:38Speaker 1: the list. I liked it. Yeah, there's a lot, there's
- 15:41Speaker 1: a lot of that category. That fine line between satire
- 15:44Speaker 1: and spoof slash parody is one that still eludes me.
- 15:46Speaker 1: I'm gonna be honest. So we'll have some discussion, but
- 15:50Speaker 1: it should be tons of fun. We will look forward
- 15:53Speaker 1: to that. Greg. Yes, today to talk about a great
- 15:56Speaker 1: film though that inspired us. We're going to talk about
- 15:59Speaker 1: a film call called Airplane What, which is forty five
- 16:04Speaker 1: years old Rob from If I guess, if that young
- 16:09Speaker 1: man next to you is going to be getting a
- 16:11Speaker 1: snack and getting a water, we should probably invite him
- 16:13Speaker 1: on the pod.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Huh.
- 16:14Speaker 1: We should. We absolutely should should welcome your father. Let's
- 16:16Speaker 1: give it up for a friend.
- 16:18Speaker 3: Hey Dad, Hi son. It's weird because we're sitting right
- 16:24Speaker 3: next to each other.
- 16:25Speaker 1: We really are, And yeah, it's like.
- 16:27Speaker 3: We're very close.
- 16:28Speaker 1: Play right now.
- 16:29Speaker 3: We are sharing a headset. Yeah, a little wired airbud thingies.
- 16:38Speaker 3: Because I didn't think about bringing a splitter because I
- 16:40Speaker 3: am brilliant.
- 16:41Speaker 1: You just wanted to be close to your dad, did Well,
- 16:44Speaker 1: we're gonna be close. That's nice.
- 16:46Speaker 5: I love it.
- 16:46Speaker 3: I won't be able to make eye contact with him
- 16:48Speaker 3: without it being weird.
- 16:51Speaker 1: It reminds me of.
- 16:53Speaker 3: A rom com.
- 16:54Speaker 1: What Broadway show did you guys go to where you
- 16:56Speaker 1: had to like switch arms? Yep, yep?
- 16:59Speaker 3: That was. That was a Little Night Music featuring Catherine
- 17:03Speaker 3: Zada Jones. And yeah, he would sit forward for a
- 17:07Speaker 3: while and I would have my arm around him, and
- 17:09Speaker 3: then I'd sit forward. But meanwhile both of our inside
- 17:14Speaker 3: like this I don't know explained, dude, just my whole
- 17:19Speaker 3: left side was just completely soaked.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Fine right side.
- 17:23Speaker 3: Yeah, we were sweaty, sweaty Catherine Zada Jones, Angela Lansbury, Wow,
- 17:32Speaker 3: it was cool.
- 17:33Speaker 5: What a delight.
- 17:33Speaker 1: That had been a long time ago, now, huh.
- 17:36Speaker 3: It was a while ago. Now. We also that trip
- 17:39Speaker 3: tried to see the Coldbert Show. That was before he
- 17:44Speaker 3: was doing like the Late Night was like when he
- 17:46Speaker 3: was on Comedy Central, and we waited in line for
- 17:50Speaker 3: a while and we were like, oh, we're never gonna
- 17:53Speaker 3: get blow.
- 17:54Speaker 6: A long while. You wentn't got us a Cuban sandwich, Jutta.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Badegast Cuban sandwich.
- 18:02Speaker 3: And line.
- 18:04Speaker 1: That was good. Sounds wonderful.
- 18:06Speaker 5: I do love them.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Sometimes you find robbing them even when there's a man
- 18:10Speaker 1: hunter man even Zempler.
- 18:13Speaker 3: Look at some.
- 18:17Speaker 6: Oh the money Python one.
- 18:19Speaker 3: No, no, that was different. We did see spam lot.
- 18:22Speaker 3: That was when the whole family was there.
- 18:24Speaker 6: Yeah, fun remember selling cans of spam?
- 18:28Speaker 1: I really I never saw that show, and I would
- 18:31Speaker 1: love to. I bet it was.
- 18:32Speaker 3: It was under fun. Was that when you guys saw
- 18:36Speaker 3: the one who was? It was on Grace anatomy? I think, yeah, yeah,
- 18:40Speaker 3: she was on it. She ended up I think she
- 18:42Speaker 3: won the Tony nice.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Yeah, believable, crazy good.
- 18:47Speaker 3: It's cool. And it was kind of like a spoof
- 18:49Speaker 3: like musical movie, kind of.
- 18:51Speaker 1: A parody of sorts. What a great segue.
- 18:54Speaker 6: Let's talk about it.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Wrote it. Yeah, that's amazing. We're here today to talk
- 19:00Speaker 1: about a wonderful spoof film. Should we get right into it?
- 19:03Speaker 1: Rob you want to get a started with the rough synopsis?
- 19:06Speaker 1: I sure do.
- 19:08Speaker 3: This spoof comedy takes shots at the slew of disaster
- 19:11Speaker 3: movies that were released in the seventies when the passengers
- 19:14Speaker 3: and crew of a jet are incapacitated due to food poisoning.
- 19:18Speaker 3: A rogue pilot with a drinking problem must cooperate with
- 19:23Speaker 3: his ex girlfriend turned stewardess to bring the plane to
- 19:26Speaker 3: a safe landing. Nice.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Nice, great read, great read. Let's go to Rotten Tomatoes
- 19:31Speaker 1: and hear what they have to say. Critics have this
- 19:32Speaker 1: coming in at just a pretty rock solid ninety seven
- 19:36Speaker 1: percent crazy.
- 19:38Speaker 5: That is salid.
- 19:40Speaker 1: That is very fresh. Audience members yeah, maybe even higher.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Audience members have it at eighty nine, which I think
- 19:48Speaker 1: is audiences are dumb.
- 19:51Speaker 3: Yeah, but it's comedies are so tough.
- 19:53Speaker 1: Yeah, that is very high for a pure comedy, that's
- 19:56Speaker 1: for sure. Yeah. Good cool. Yeah, let's go in and
- 19:59Speaker 1: say what we think. Let's get our hot take.
- 20:02Speaker 3: That's a hot take.
- 20:04Speaker 1: That's a hot takeowicy, I had a fish. It was hot. Oh, okay, great, great, Yeah,
- 20:13Speaker 1: I love it. I'll go first with this. I have
- 20:17Speaker 1: loved this movie for my whole life. I think I
- 20:20Speaker 1: can remember watching it a ton when I was a
- 20:23Speaker 1: little kid, especially when I go over to my grandma's house.
- 20:26Speaker 1: For some reason, we watched like Police Academy and Airplane
- 20:29Speaker 1: over there. Those maybe have been the only tapes that
- 20:32Speaker 1: she had, but man, I loved it, and in retrospect,
- 20:35Speaker 1: those are the perfect two tapes. So that's probably why
- 20:40Speaker 1: I'm such a depraved human being because this movie pushes
- 20:42Speaker 1: the envelope in a lot of ways. It's like, jokes
- 20:46Speaker 1: per minute are just so high because there's just a joke, joke, joke, joke, joke.
- 20:51Speaker 1: So it's such a fun rewatch every time. I feel
- 20:54Speaker 1: like you come up with something you you didn't hear,
- 20:56Speaker 1: you didn't hear completely the time before because you were
- 20:58Speaker 1: laughing at the previous one, or something just really fun
- 21:02Speaker 1: to play off all these movie tropes and everything. I
- 21:05Speaker 1: just love it. And I think all these actors playing
- 21:08Speaker 1: everything so seriously that they become the joke is like
- 21:12Speaker 1: my favorite part of the movie. I just I just
- 21:16Speaker 1: think it's brilliant. I just have such a fun time
- 21:18Speaker 1: with it. There's not as many things in this that
- 21:21Speaker 1: age poorly as I thought there might be. I was
- 21:23Speaker 1: a little that was.
- 21:25Speaker 3: I was shocked by that.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean there's like the pilot talking about the
- 21:29Speaker 1: little kid and getting naked and stuff, but they also
- 21:33Speaker 1: knew that was in poor taste that you know what.
- 21:34Speaker 1: I mean so it wasn't.
- 21:35Speaker 3: Right well and it's directly making fun of a film.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Absolutely, but yeah, like otherwise it does pretty good for
- 21:44Speaker 1: the most part. Not perfect, but pretty yeah, pretty good.
- 21:47Speaker 3: The only stuff that I felt like like maybe like
- 21:49Speaker 3: a little current event ee like with like the gerald
- 21:52Speaker 3: Ford joke and like just like yeah, but right, you know,
- 21:57Speaker 3: but it certainly wasn't like you know, like it didn't
- 22:00Speaker 3: age well.
- 22:01Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, there was nothing in it. We were like,
- 22:03Speaker 1: ohh boy, they that wasn't a joke and boy it's
- 22:06Speaker 1: bad or whatever. Yeah, yeah, but yeah, I just I
- 22:10Speaker 1: continue to love this movie. I think it's it's wonderful.
- 22:13Speaker 1: I hope we get back to making more of these
- 22:15Speaker 1: just pure zany comedy kind of movies. They're really fun,
- 22:19Speaker 1: uh and they're just a good time. My hot take though, is,
- 22:23Speaker 1: uh so he starts, he leaves the meter on in
- 22:27Speaker 1: his cab when he gets out and just leaves that guy.
- 22:30Speaker 1: We do see him a couple more times, but they
- 22:32Speaker 1: never complete that story arc. And I just want to
- 22:35Speaker 1: call out the one plot hole that's in this film,
- 22:37Speaker 1: because that's it. Otherwise everything else makes sense. No, I
- 22:40Speaker 1: don't know, we never really see him again, do we no.
- 22:42Speaker 3: We see him in the end of the credits. Did
- 22:44Speaker 3: you not watch the end of the credits?
- 22:46Speaker 5: I thought it, dude.
- 22:47Speaker 3: He goes all the way to the end of credits
- 22:49Speaker 3: and he's like, I'm going to wait twenty more minutes
- 22:53Speaker 3: and then.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, that's right, I have seen that before. Well
- 22:56Speaker 1: damn yeah, all right, well, so watch the end of
- 22:58Speaker 1: the credits. My real hot take, I actually had two,
- 23:02Speaker 1: but this works out really well.
- 23:03Speaker 5: This is nice.
- 23:04Speaker 1: I planned it this way. The drinking problem bit, it
- 23:08Speaker 1: was the funniest thing I'd ever seen when I was
- 23:11Speaker 1: a kid when I first saw it, and it continues
- 23:14Speaker 1: to be a perfect joke. I love that bit so much.
- 23:18Speaker 1: It makes me laugh every single time. So I just
- 23:21Speaker 1: think it's perfect. So I just want to call up
- 23:23Speaker 1: that whoever WROTI it. Maybe it's been done a ton
- 23:26Speaker 1: of times, but it was the first time for me,
- 23:29Speaker 1: and I have loved that joke my entire life, and
- 23:32Speaker 1: it's so great to say. So that's my hot take.
- 23:35Speaker 3: That's a great, great take that might be brought up
- 23:38Speaker 3: in the dinghis I love it. Yeah, man, I always
- 23:42Speaker 3: thought this movie was hilarious. It was not one that
- 23:45Speaker 3: we watched a lot as a family. That wasn't like
- 23:48Speaker 3: we didn't I don't think we had that one taped
- 23:50Speaker 3: or anything. I felt like I saw it more on
- 23:53Speaker 3: like basic cable.
- 23:54Speaker 1: That makes sense. Sure, I felt like I saw it
- 23:57Speaker 1: a lot on TV.
- 23:59Speaker 3: But this is written in direct by Jerry and David
- 24:01Speaker 3: Zucker and Jim Abrahams. They went on to do more
- 24:05Speaker 3: parody films like the Naked Gun series and the hot
- 24:08Speaker 3: Shots films part due I watched so many times ago. Yeah,
- 24:17Speaker 3: I've always enjoyed these kinds of films, or they're making
- 24:19Speaker 3: fun of other ones, like mel Brooks did with westerns
- 24:23Speaker 3: and sci fi films. These guys did with action movies
- 24:26Speaker 3: and then like the scary movie folks did with horrors.
- 24:30Speaker 3: I just think it's a fun it's.
- 24:32Speaker 1: A fun time.
- 24:34Speaker 3: The fact that they did take these really serious actors.
- 24:37Speaker 3: Now I wasn't super familiar with a lot of these
- 24:39Speaker 3: actors from before, just because I didn't watch a lot
- 24:43Speaker 3: of movies before this. But the fact that they were
- 24:46Speaker 3: all very like seasoned, like serious actors and they played
- 24:50Speaker 3: it that way and it just like you said, it
- 24:53Speaker 3: just made it so much funnier. Has some of like
- 24:57Speaker 3: the all time great lines ever in movie. Seriously, some
- 25:02Speaker 3: of them are just incredible. But yeah, I've had a
- 25:07Speaker 3: very similar take. It's such a good time holds up
- 25:10Speaker 3: well forty five years later. I do think these movies
- 25:13Speaker 3: are coming back with like the Lonely Island Crew and
- 25:17Speaker 3: we just had the Naked Gun redone, which was incredible.
- 25:21Speaker 3: So yeah, Hot Take, I'm glad that they're they're coming back,
- 25:26Speaker 3: because it felt like it was a little oversaturated, maybe
- 25:30Speaker 3: like in the two thousands, where they did like a
- 25:32Speaker 3: ton of them and they weren't very funny. So yeah,
- 25:36Speaker 3: I'm glad that they're going back and doing them and
- 25:38Speaker 3: like putting the work to make it pretty funny.
- 25:40Speaker 1: Love it, Hot Take, Hot Hot Take, What do you got? Frett?
- 25:44Speaker 6: I loved it from the opening when they do the.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Theme to Jaws, Yes.
- 25:51Speaker 6: And showing the plane the fan in the back of
- 25:55Speaker 6: the plane going through the clouds, and it just kept
- 25:59Speaker 6: getting funny air. That was a beautiful way to start
- 26:03Speaker 6: this movie. There were so many one liners and little
- 26:10Speaker 6: bits that are just sometimes, like you said, you have
- 26:15Speaker 6: to watch it three times to get eighty percent of
- 26:19Speaker 6: I had forgotten about the dog attack at Stax House
- 26:25Speaker 6: when they go get him and that's hysterical. He's like
- 26:29Speaker 6: doing your shirt and time. His wife said, the dog
- 26:32Speaker 6: is gnawing up this airline employee. There's so many little
- 26:40Speaker 6: things throughout the movie that are just funny. I found
- 26:45Speaker 6: myself pausing it to try to catch up with my laughter,
- 26:49Speaker 6: because if you start laughing at one thing, you miss
- 26:52Speaker 6: three things.
- 26:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Absolutely, that's when you know.
- 26:55Speaker 6: It's a funny movie. Yeah, there's very few movie makers
- 27:01Speaker 6: that can do that. But like Rob said, and you,
- 27:04Speaker 6: they took these serious actors Robert Stack, Leslie and Neils said.
- 27:10Speaker 3: That's so crazy to me that Leslie Nielsen was a
- 27:12Speaker 3: real serious doctor, because I've pretty much only known him
- 27:15Speaker 3: as this funny.
- 27:17Speaker 6: But this movie re jump started his career. That's crazy
- 27:22Speaker 6: movies because he was In fact, I've read a quote
- 27:26Speaker 6: where he said, I was going to be cast as
- 27:29Speaker 6: the Grandpa and the Chilly movies, and here he got
- 27:33Speaker 6: this whole new life as Lieutenant Drebens Or.
- 27:37Speaker 3: Who was.
- 27:40Speaker 6: Anyway.
- 27:40Speaker 1: I love that movie.
- 27:42Speaker 3: This is a.
- 27:44Speaker 6: This is a laugh from beginning to end.
- 27:47Speaker 1: Love it totally agree, Nice, I love it. Hot takes
- 27:50Speaker 1: all around. Uh, well what do we say? Should we
- 27:53Speaker 1: go and name our favorite acting performance? Shall we name
- 27:56Speaker 1: the dude the dude.
- 27:58Speaker 7: I'm the dude, So that's what you call me, you
- 28:01Speaker 7: know that, or his dudeness or duder or you know,
- 28:07Speaker 7: el dud reno. If you're not into the whole brevity thing.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Fred, do you want to go first? Who's you do?
- 28:12Speaker 3: Started off? Dad?
- 28:15Speaker 6: Oh, that's a you know, I'm trying to I think
- 28:20Speaker 6: Lloyd Bridges. Yeah, which was a bad week to quit smoking,
- 28:26Speaker 6: and then it just went down hill. That was my
- 28:30Speaker 6: favorite of all time in the movie. He was my favorite.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Inappropriate that he dude because he just kept sniffing glue
- 28:40Speaker 1: and then he goes over backwards the best. He was
- 28:44Speaker 1: so funny.
- 28:45Speaker 6: He was And see when I saw this in whatever
- 28:49Speaker 6: ninety there, eteen eighty.
- 28:52Speaker 1: I remember him and Sea Hunt a very serious TV show,
- 28:57Speaker 1: So this was just I just sat there screaming.
- 29:02Speaker 6: It was so funny. Anyway, that was my Yeah, he
- 29:04Speaker 6: was good, was excellent.
- 29:06Speaker 3: It was really funny. I didn't have him, But the
- 29:10Speaker 3: fact that you said it was appropriate for him to
- 29:12Speaker 3: be a dude, I would be.
- 29:14Speaker 1: Fine picking up I didn't think that till right now,
- 29:17Speaker 1: but I.
- 29:19Speaker 3: Was gonna pick Leslie Nielson just because this was kind
- 29:23Speaker 3: of the beginning of him for me. Yeah, and I
- 29:28Speaker 3: just thought he I've loved him since I was a kid.
- 29:31Speaker 3: Like every single thing that he just he plays it
- 29:35Speaker 3: so well. He knows it's funny, but he's not playing
- 29:39Speaker 3: it like it's he's funny. And uh, yeah, I don't know.
- 29:45Speaker 3: Just every time he was on screen it just made
- 29:48Speaker 3: me smile.
- 29:48Speaker 6: The first time he's on screen, are you a doctor?
- 29:52Speaker 1: And he's sitting.
- 29:55Speaker 6: Already around his neck but it's so fun Why do you?
- 30:01Speaker 6: I was just perfect.
- 30:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 30:04Speaker 1: But he's not really winking to the cameras to be
- 30:09Speaker 1: able to do yeah. Yeah, the restraint to not like
- 30:13Speaker 1: wink at the camera is something I don't have, like
- 30:15Speaker 1: I want, I need the right like I need it.
- 30:21Speaker 1: But well, and yeah, he has the line of the
- 30:23Speaker 1: movie for sure. I did pick Leslie Nielson for the
- 30:29Speaker 1: and I actually it's funny you said that, Fred, because
- 30:31Speaker 1: I wrote down from that first scene where we see
- 30:34Speaker 1: him sleeping but he's got the stethoscope in. I just
- 30:38Speaker 1: was cracking up the whold like it's so perfect, and
- 30:41Speaker 1: he answers everything so sternly. It's just wonderful. So I
- 30:45Speaker 1: like both your picks. I think we should pick both
- 30:46Speaker 1: of them to be the dude because I think they're
- 30:48Speaker 1: both just so appropriate. I love that. Yeah, I love it. Well,
- 30:53Speaker 1: there's a bunch of other great people in this, So
- 30:55Speaker 1: shall we go on to the tucciy for this one?
- 31:00Speaker 1: Fred well Laz where it gets harder.
- 31:07Speaker 6: I think Peter Graves gets my Tucci Award his dead
- 31:12Speaker 6: pan do you like Gladiator movies to me?
- 31:16Speaker 1: You know?
- 31:16Speaker 6: And just this he's asking these questions that pretty uncomfortable actually,
- 31:25Speaker 6: but he does in such a serious way. Have you
- 31:29Speaker 6: ever seen a grown man naked.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Spent a lot of time in the locker rooms?
- 31:34Speaker 6: And then they're describing the symptoms and he's getting the measure.
- 31:41Speaker 6: Peter Graves was when I was a kid, the guy
- 31:45Speaker 6: in Mission Impossible was in charge, right, he was always
- 31:50Speaker 6: And I like the fact that he went to the
- 31:52Speaker 6: U of M. And they're from Minnesota and his brother
- 31:56Speaker 6: was James Arnest from Gunsmoke. Wow, so that's like that
- 32:02Speaker 6: local thing. But he gets my Tucci Award.
- 32:05Speaker 1: That's fun a great pick. I love that. He's so funny. Yeah,
- 32:09Speaker 1: he was good. Over over you got Roger Rogers.
- 32:14Speaker 3: I was going to pick Julie Haggerty as Elaine Dickinson. You.
- 32:19Speaker 1: I love her. She was wonderful.
- 32:22Speaker 3: Her voice is just it's it's so funny. It's been
- 32:25Speaker 3: the same since nineteen eighty. But she I really uh
- 32:30Speaker 3: connect with her in Just Friends, We like that.
- 32:34Speaker 1: Yeah, she's the mom Joyce.
- 32:38Speaker 6: What about Bob?
- 32:39Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, but yeah, she was really funny in this
- 32:47Speaker 3: Yeah when she asked too. I mean the autopilot scene
- 32:50Speaker 3: is so funny.
- 32:54Speaker 6: Cigarette and then Leslie Nielsen opens the door, go, oh gosh.
- 33:02Speaker 1: That's incredible. The spoof on.
- 33:05Speaker 3: From Here to Eternity with on the on the beach
- 33:09Speaker 3: and just every time the waves come then there's like
- 33:13Speaker 3: more seaweed like on her and then you'll see like
- 33:16Speaker 3: a fish like.
- 33:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I just thought she was great.
- 33:23Speaker 5: I loved her.
- 33:25Speaker 1: And she does such a good job too. Of like
- 33:27Speaker 1: if you put her lines where she's like, I just
- 33:31Speaker 1: can't do it anymore ted, like in a movie where
- 33:34Speaker 1: they're trying to be stern, like a love movie or something,
- 33:38Speaker 1: it would totally fit. Like she's acting. It's just so
- 33:42Speaker 1: so great. I love it. Those are both great picks
- 33:45Speaker 1: I'm gonna pick. I probably would have picked Julie both years.
- 33:49Speaker 1: I would have picked but to name some other folks,
- 33:52Speaker 1: the best cameo of any athlete ever. I think Kareem
- 33:55Speaker 1: abdul jar there. I love it. They like sort of
- 34:01Speaker 1: don't make him cream, but then also definitely do make
- 34:04Speaker 1: him and then they pull him out.
- 34:07Speaker 6: There's Charity's wearing.
- 34:09Speaker 1: So that that whole bit is so so good. I
- 34:14Speaker 1: think he's just really good in this, Like he's so funny.
- 34:16Speaker 1: He's outburst at the kid, you know, try telling him
- 34:20Speaker 1: to drag their asses up and down the court. You know.
- 34:22Speaker 1: All that stuff just so so funny. So I loved
- 34:26Speaker 1: him a lot. And then one that I did not
- 34:28Speaker 1: realize I liked so much as a man named Steven Stucker.
- 34:32Speaker 1: And he is in all the scenes bridges where he's like, hey,
- 34:39Speaker 1: some coffee and he's like, no, I'm good, you know,
- 34:42Speaker 1: and then yeah, and then he has all his crazy
- 34:44Speaker 1: lines of like making a brooch, what are you making it?
- 34:49Speaker 1: He's just so funny, and he's like the Tower Rapunzel,
- 34:53Speaker 1: you know, like all that stuff. I loved him so.
- 34:56Speaker 3: Much, way over the top. He was very kind of
- 34:59Speaker 3: felt like he got free rain to just be did so.
- 35:02Speaker 1: I read in the trivia that he had libbed all
- 35:05Speaker 1: of his lines. They were basically just that way, and
- 35:07Speaker 1: he's like a Broadway actor, I guess primarily, but it
- 35:11Speaker 1: felt like someone just knew him and they were like,
- 35:12Speaker 1: he's super funny. Just let him do whatever he wants.
- 35:14Speaker 1: It'll be great, you know, like and it fits so perfectly.
- 35:17Speaker 1: It's just really great.
- 35:18Speaker 3: But it is funny though, because he's the only one
- 35:20Speaker 3: who's like pretty hard.
- 35:22Speaker 1: That's why it works is it's only one person doing that,
- 35:25Speaker 1: you know what I mean, And it's so short that
- 35:27Speaker 1: it doesn't feel like they're trying too hard, even though
- 35:29Speaker 1: he definitely is, you know, I don't he's almost spoofing
- 35:33Speaker 1: people who try to make comedies funny or something. I
- 35:35Speaker 1: don't know. It's really interesting, but I just I really
- 35:38Speaker 1: liked him on this.
- 35:40Speaker 3: He was funny and dude, did you recognize the one dude?
- 35:43Speaker 3: He actually had hair? But we've known him from Breaking
- 35:48Speaker 3: Bad and Better Call Song? Yeah what Jonathan Banks?
- 35:52Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, And I was like, whoa, that's him.
- 35:55Speaker 3: That blew my mind.
- 35:56Speaker 1: So he's been acting a long time.
- 35:59Speaker 3: Yeah him. He looks so old right now, but he
- 36:04Speaker 3: was so good as Mike in Breaking Bad and.
- 36:07Speaker 1: I think he's.
- 36:09Speaker 6: Right.
- 36:10Speaker 1: But yeah, yeah, yeah, I did recognize him. That was
- 36:12Speaker 1: super fun.
- 36:14Speaker 3: And then dude having June Cleaver, Yeah, the jive translator,
- 36:23Speaker 3: and she was always the perfect mom.
- 36:25Speaker 1: Loved her.
- 36:26Speaker 6: So the folks my age or older who enjoyed this movie,
- 36:32Speaker 6: all they knew around it was the perfect mom and
- 36:34Speaker 6: a skirt and a sweater making dinner, right, you know,
- 36:39Speaker 6: and here she's.
- 36:41Speaker 3: Just you know, his jive.
- 36:43Speaker 6: I love her.
- 36:43Speaker 5: That was so great, such a good bit.
- 36:46Speaker 1: And I love the good bit.
- 36:48Speaker 6: I thought the closed captioning for what you were saying.
- 36:52Speaker 3: Yeah, cool, you know, I'm just really really good.
- 36:56Speaker 6: That was very subtle, but very.
- 36:59Speaker 5: Fun I liked that a lot. That was really good.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Also, Robert Stack super funny.
- 37:04Speaker 3: Yeah we didn't say Roberts just.
- 37:06Speaker 1: So ultimately serious sounding like he's got such a voice
- 37:10Speaker 1: and about him. But man, he was so funny in this.
- 37:14Speaker 5: Really good.
- 37:15Speaker 3: Was he Rescue nine one one? Yeah? No unsolved mysteries.
- 37:18Speaker 1: I feel like we did this last week. Yeah, he
- 37:23Speaker 1: was really great and.
- 37:27Speaker 6: Uncommon valor.
- 37:29Speaker 1: I don't think I saw.
- 37:30Speaker 3: That, you know, we had it, we had the VHS
- 37:34Speaker 3: and that was one that I never saw.
- 37:36Speaker 1: Very good. I have to check that out. But yeah,
- 37:38Speaker 1: he was just you go to do that movie funny
- 37:40Speaker 1: in that maybe I like it. I like it. Uh.
- 37:45Speaker 1: I think those were all the people I wrote down,
- 37:47Speaker 1: that's all I guess. The main dude, what's his name?
- 37:50Speaker 1: He was good? Oh, yeah, it was funny.
- 37:53Speaker 5: We didn't say him, did we.
- 37:54Speaker 1: Uh can you look him up? I'm on it going
- 37:57Speaker 1: ted No, his name in the he was ten striker
- 38:01Speaker 1: Robert Hayes. Striker Robert Hayes. This is good. I liked
- 38:04Speaker 1: him a lot.
- 38:05Speaker 3: Yeah, Saturday night fever bit is really funny.
- 38:09Speaker 1: Again the drinking problem.
- 38:10Speaker 3: The drinking problem is.
- 38:11Speaker 1: The best.
- 38:14Speaker 6: Relating his relationship. And then they finally I know I'm talking,
- 38:20Speaker 6: probably talking too long, and.
- 38:24Speaker 1: Her feet are yeah, the passengers and the yeah, that
- 38:31Speaker 1: bit of all the suicides, I guess maybe that doesn't
- 38:33Speaker 1: age super great, but it is fun.
- 38:39Speaker 6: The only racist thing I really saw was the japan
- 38:43Speaker 6: His soldier, you know.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Yeah, that was funny. Oh, it was a funny bit
- 38:52Speaker 1: for sure. The old lady.
- 38:53Speaker 3: Oh no, the other guy was going to light himself
- 38:55Speaker 3: on fire, but then he didn't have.
- 38:57Speaker 1: To, and then it happened and he.
- 38:59Speaker 6: Was very great full look on.
- 39:02Speaker 1: Oh boy, yeah silly. I don't think there's any other yea, folks,
- 39:07Speaker 1: I feel like we have to name everybody was great. Well,
- 39:11Speaker 1: let's go into our favorite scene and let's choose. So
- 39:16Speaker 1: is quite simple, really, ingus, dingus. I could talk about
- 39:19Speaker 1: my dingas all day long.
- 39:21Speaker 3: I think I have the same one. But Dad, what
- 39:23Speaker 3: was your favorite scene?
- 39:26Speaker 6: There's too many to really I got five favorites. That's
- 39:30Speaker 6: one I'll pick is there's nothing to worry about. Everything's
- 39:34Speaker 6: under control and the stewardess is pulling pilots down the
- 39:39Speaker 6: hallway to the back of the plane. Now, that was
- 39:44Speaker 6: one of my favorites.
- 39:46Speaker 1: Does anyone know how to fly a plane or whatever?
- 39:50Speaker 1: Out but they're doing this, don't panic.
- 39:54Speaker 6: Everything is And I love the two stewards and they
- 39:58Speaker 6: called them stewardess.
- 40:00Speaker 1: Yeah right right, are yanking him to the back? That's
- 40:07Speaker 1: I loved it. That's great.
- 40:09Speaker 3: Yeah, all the drinking problems that was always my favorite.
- 40:12Speaker 3: I just thought that was the funniest.
- 40:15Speaker 1: Thing for sure.
- 40:17Speaker 3: And then my runner up was the looks like I
- 40:19Speaker 3: picked the wrong week to whatever.
- 40:22Speaker 1: That recurring bit.
- 40:26Speaker 6: Was brilliant.
- 40:27Speaker 3: Fhetamines Yeah, yeah, so good. All of them were good.
- 40:33Speaker 6: Put on the lights on the field, yeah, crash, Yeah,
- 40:37Speaker 6: I love that.
- 40:39Speaker 1: I'm with you. The recurring bit I think is right
- 40:42Speaker 1: up there. I really like the bar scene that seems
- 40:45Speaker 1: like it's almost like a Casablanca sort of riff as
- 40:49Speaker 1: well a little bit but where they first meet and
- 40:51Speaker 1: then it goes into the boogie scene and all that stuff.
- 40:54Speaker 3: I really like that.
- 40:57Speaker 1: I love you mean and dram booie and.
- 41:02Speaker 3: That was Yeah, didn't they call a place dackery too?
- 41:05Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, And this one I get that they're they're
- 41:11Speaker 1: striking someone they don't know, but the lineup scene where
- 41:15Speaker 1: they're smacking the woman because she's freaking out is that
- 41:18Speaker 1: has always cracked me up to just like, it's hilarious
- 41:21Speaker 1: the people then they got the bat and the boxing
- 41:24Speaker 1: gloves and it's really funny. That's just a funny the
- 41:27Speaker 1: boy reading nuns life and the life so much silly,
- 41:32Speaker 1: but so silly.
- 41:34Speaker 3: That's so fun. I also had all of the Auto
- 41:37Speaker 3: Pilot's staff and the fact that his name is Auto.
- 41:40Speaker 1: Probably should have picked him for a two. Honestly, he was.
- 41:45Speaker 1: I love to have him be able to move his
- 41:48Speaker 1: head a winking eye. Yeahgrette.
- 41:54Speaker 6: At the beginning after the Jaws theme, you've got the
- 41:58Speaker 6: scene as people are coming into my car and the
- 42:01Speaker 6: credits no parking in the red zone, my god, and
- 42:05Speaker 6: then the argument between the man and the woman between
- 42:08Speaker 6: the red zone.
- 42:09Speaker 1: And the way because I could get an abortion.
- 42:13Speaker 3: I know, that gets real.
- 42:17Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a great I love that bit. And it
- 42:20Speaker 1: went it was recurring the whole front credit credit.
- 42:26Speaker 5: My god, it's so good.
- 42:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I love that. Every time there was the cut
- 42:32Speaker 3: to where you see the plane like in the clouds flying.
- 42:39Speaker 2: Uh.
- 42:39Speaker 3: It sounds like it's just like a propeller.
- 42:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 42:44Speaker 1: Yeah, so really funny.
- 42:46Speaker 5: Yeah, I love that.
- 42:48Speaker 6: Bit, the checking of the oil and cleaning window. And
- 42:53Speaker 6: that was the guy from different note.
- 42:57Speaker 1: Was Jimmy wat Walker. I never realized that.
- 43:01Speaker 6: I've read it in trivia watch six hundred dollars.
- 43:05Speaker 1: To do that. That's fun. I did not know that. Yeah,
- 43:10Speaker 1: I like that he did shut the lead. Yeah, yeah,
- 43:16Speaker 1: really good.
- 43:17Speaker 3: Another recurring bit that I love that. I'm sure it'll
- 43:20Speaker 3: just come up in quotes, but just the the what
- 43:23Speaker 3: is it?
- 43:24Speaker 1: It was like it's this either hospital or building. We're duck.
- 43:30Speaker 1: So really great, really good stuff.
- 43:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 43:35Speaker 1: I also love at the end the landing sequence, but
- 43:39Speaker 1: when they're they're flying by the gates and the gate
- 43:42Speaker 1: announcer is like now riving at Yeah, such a dumb joke,
- 43:49Speaker 1: but I love it same.
- 43:53Speaker 6: Well, that's another dumb one. Was the girl saying goodbye
- 43:57Speaker 6: to her serviceman. Oh yes, and that running into towers.
- 44:01Speaker 1: And their things station.
- 44:06Speaker 6: You better get a board, son conductor.
- 44:09Speaker 1: Really great.
- 44:10Speaker 5: Yeah, I love that.
- 44:12Speaker 3: It's funny.
- 44:13Speaker 1: That's funny. Ton of good bits, tons of good ones.
- 44:16Speaker 1: Should we get into some of these quotes? Though, it
- 44:18Speaker 1: is the time to shoot. Get the money, shout me
- 44:21Speaker 1: the money show, Frett. You want to go first with
- 44:30Speaker 1: some quotes?
- 44:33Speaker 3: There are so many, but I love the You gotta
- 44:37Speaker 3: do the first one.
- 44:39Speaker 5: Yeah, that is the one.
- 44:41Speaker 6: Yeah, surely you can't be serious. I am serious, and
- 44:45Speaker 6: don't call me sure.
- 44:46Speaker 3: That's the best one.
- 44:47Speaker 6: I also like put ham on five and hold them
- 44:50Speaker 6: out the courtesy white and yeah, the Mayo clinic.
- 44:56Speaker 3: Yes, and there's all those cans things of Mayo behind.
- 45:00Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 45:00Speaker 1: I never caught that grabs the red phone and you
- 45:05Speaker 1: hear the white phone.
- 45:07Speaker 6: Thank you. That is a I love that.
- 45:12Speaker 1: It's so funny. I also had never noticed this the
- 45:15Speaker 1: like strings before on the heart, and I was like,
- 45:18Speaker 1: what is that string? Therefore, and then the heart comes
- 45:20Speaker 1: like jumping up. That was cracking me up. I've never
- 45:23Speaker 1: seen that before.
- 45:25Speaker 3: Ridiculous.
- 45:26Speaker 6: That also the sayings of Peter Graves. Everything he asked
- 45:34Speaker 6: Timmy was hysterical.
- 45:37Speaker 1: Yes, you like so serious?
- 45:42Speaker 6: Have you ever seen a grown man naked? Those? I
- 45:46Speaker 6: just get sick to my stomach on.
- 45:49Speaker 1: His delivery is so perfect on those lines, it's just insane.
- 45:55Speaker 5: Yeah, I love that.
- 45:57Speaker 1: Nice.
- 45:58Speaker 6: And then in the cockpit, kareem grab the dragoning near
- 46:03Speaker 6: up and down for forty five minutes. You know that's good, Red,
- 46:08Speaker 6: I'm done with mine. There were too many.
- 46:10Speaker 3: There's so many. Uh, this woman has to be got
- 46:13Speaker 3: into a hospital.
- 46:14Speaker 1: Hospital. What is it?
- 46:15Speaker 3: It's a big building with patients. But that's not important
- 46:18Speaker 3: right now.
- 46:19Speaker 1: Great, love that.
- 46:21Speaker 3: What was it we had for dinner tonight? Well we
- 46:23Speaker 3: had a choice of steak or fish. Yes, yes, I remember,
- 46:26Speaker 3: I had lasagna. Yeah, what is so dumb? Oh the
- 46:34Speaker 3: nervous Yes, first time. No, I've been nervous, lots of
- 46:40Speaker 3: I love that. Oh good, Oh yeah, that's a funny bit. Oh,
- 46:47Speaker 3: just the whole excuse me, Captain over, but I have
- 46:51Speaker 3: an emergency call in five Oh yeah, we said that,
- 46:53Speaker 3: all right, give me.
- 46:57Speaker 1: Over over. I didn't write that whole thing. Vectors up. Yeah, perfect.
- 47:05Speaker 3: Last thing I have is Captain, how soon can you land?
- 47:08Speaker 3: I can't tell you can tell me. I'm a doctor. No,
- 47:11Speaker 3: I mean I'm just not sure. Well, can't you take
- 47:13Speaker 3: a guess? Not for another two hours? You can't take
- 47:16Speaker 3: a guess for another two hours. It was very like
- 47:20Speaker 3: whos on the first situation?
- 47:21Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely, those ones I wrote down.
- 47:25Speaker 3: What do you got?
- 47:26Speaker 1: So the do we want the whole red zone the
- 47:30Speaker 1: white zonething we probably don't have to do so long.
- 47:32Speaker 1: So there, the red zone is for immediate loading and
- 47:35Speaker 1: unloading of passengers. There's no stopping in the white zone.
- 47:37Speaker 1: Then the other one says the opposite, and then they're like,
- 47:40Speaker 1: the red zone has always been for loading and unloading.
- 47:42Speaker 1: There's never stopping in the white zone. Don't tell me
- 47:45Speaker 1: what zone is for stopping, which is just for loading. Listen, Betty,
- 47:49Speaker 1: don't start up with your white zone again. That cracks
- 47:53Speaker 1: me up so hard. Listen, Betty, don't start up. The
- 47:57Speaker 1: white zone is so funny.
- 48:00Speaker 3: I love it, and it's just like the opening.
- 48:03Speaker 1: To the airport.
- 48:04Speaker 3: It's perfect, it's.
- 48:05Speaker 5: Really really good.
- 48:06Speaker 1: And then like you said, rap, they go crazy.
- 48:09Speaker 3: We know perfectly.
- 48:10Speaker 1: Well what we're talking about? You like, yeah, amazing, amazing. Also, Fred,
- 48:19Speaker 1: this isn't aside we're religious people handing you pamphlets in airports.
- 48:26Speaker 6: It was extreme when I was in the service and
- 48:29Speaker 6: go through a lot of airport and it was the
- 48:32Speaker 6: called the Moonie's and they were wearing those calf hands
- 48:37Speaker 6: around you call them, and handing out literature trying to
- 48:40Speaker 6: sell you a flower.
- 48:42Speaker 1: They were all over all the airport. Okay, because I
- 48:46Speaker 1: never knew that was a thing.
- 48:47Speaker 6: Except what Minneapolis did was set up a desk where
- 48:52Speaker 6: they couldn't walk up to you. You would had to
- 48:54Speaker 6: walk up to them. They're still there now. I haven't
- 48:58Speaker 6: seen the mooney and forty years.
- 49:01Speaker 3: Would they give out pamphlets of Jewish sports legends.
- 49:05Speaker 1: I had that reading reading. One of my favorites was
- 49:11Speaker 1: the one.
- 49:12Speaker 6: Guy suffering after the war. He's talking to Ted and
- 49:16Speaker 6: there was ethel merman O.
- 49:18Speaker 1: Yes, funny, it was.
- 49:23Speaker 6: Last Stinging on film and it was beautiful for as.
- 49:28Speaker 3: Hell as hell.
- 49:30Speaker 1: So funny was that I loved it.
- 49:34Speaker 3: The good call bringing that up that was so funny.
- 49:36Speaker 1: Hysterical, But yeah, I I didn't. I guess I didn't
- 49:40Speaker 1: fly until after nine to eleven, So I didn't I
- 49:43Speaker 1: didn't understand that people used to just come up to
- 49:45Speaker 1: you when you would be going into the place that's
- 49:47Speaker 1: pretty well well and you didn't go through any of
- 49:50Speaker 1: the crazy, and it was the different world my family.
- 49:56Speaker 6: When we came home from Berlin, my family was right
- 49:59Speaker 6: at the yeah yeh know, to get Rob and Jenny.
- 50:03Speaker 6: I mean they were right there.
- 50:05Speaker 3: It's weird. Well, like all those older movies, even like Friends,
- 50:08Speaker 3: you'll see episodes where they can just read you know, yeah,
- 50:13Speaker 3: you can't do that.
- 50:14Speaker 1: Interesting. Sorry for that aside. I loved the Oh that
- 50:20Speaker 1: was so funny. Got that correct?
- 50:23Speaker 6: I want to sing it now.
- 50:25Speaker 1: The layer down and smack them yackam has always cracked
- 50:29Speaker 1: me up. I love that so so much. I don't
- 50:32Speaker 1: know what it means, but I love it.
- 50:34Speaker 6: Oh no, you got to read this, everything is all right.
- 50:42Speaker 1: I also love the bit with the little kid in
- 50:45Speaker 1: first class and then the young lady in first class.
- 50:48Speaker 1: My god, I'm just wondering if you'd like a cup
- 50:51Speaker 1: of coffee, you know, and all that, and then he's
- 50:53Speaker 1: like cream, no, thank you, I take it black like
- 50:56Speaker 1: my men. And then his look is seven years old
- 51:01Speaker 1: or something so funny that cracks.
- 51:03Speaker 6: I like to look on the kid's face too. He
- 51:06Speaker 6: didn't overact, which hats off to him.
- 51:11Speaker 3: I love it.
- 51:12Speaker 1: I love it.
- 51:13Speaker 6: I like when they're directing the plane.
- 51:16Speaker 1: Yes, he's going this way, have you seen me whatever, and.
- 51:20Speaker 6: He goes, yeah, it's over there. When the plane goes
- 51:23Speaker 6: through the window. Yeah, so dumb, stupid bit and workable.
- 51:28Speaker 1: So so funny. I also love the all hell is
- 51:31Speaker 1: breaking loose. They're like trying to land the plane. Everything's
- 51:34Speaker 1: going crazy. Leslie Nielsen sticks his head for like the
- 51:37Speaker 1: third time into the cockpit and he just goes, I
- 51:40Speaker 1: just want to tell you all good luck. We're counting
- 51:42Speaker 1: on you. He says it the same every time, and
- 51:45Speaker 1: it's so funny. He doesn't have to get right. Yeah,
- 51:52Speaker 1: it's really great. Yeah, I don't know. Oh, there's just
- 52:00Speaker 1: so many Flying a plane is like riding a bicycle.
- 52:03Speaker 1: It's just a lot harder to put baseball cards and
- 52:05Speaker 1: the spokes. I think that's stack that says that she's
- 52:09Speaker 1: like okay, all right, So so funny.
- 52:14Speaker 6: I like them staying alive down when he throws her
- 52:17Speaker 6: in the air and she's up there for countess and.
- 52:21Speaker 1: Then comes this way, like to get a ball.
- 52:25Speaker 6: But then she's can't sorry, my bad, not all excited.
- 52:32Speaker 1: You can't hear me. I'm gonna say naughty things about them.
- 52:34Speaker 1: They can't own.
- 52:35Speaker 6: That was very funny.
- 52:38Speaker 1: Oh, I said so many crazy things about you guys.
- 52:40Speaker 1: Well you couldn't hear It was nuts. Yeah, I love that.
- 52:45Speaker 1: I love it so much. Yeah, what other one? This
- 52:50Speaker 1: was so hard because there's so many lines. Yeah, oh,
- 52:54Speaker 1: I love I don't think I'd ever noticed this before,
- 52:56Speaker 1: but they had the no smoking sign with the Spanish
- 52:59Speaker 1: underneath it and it said oh no smoking that it
- 53:02Speaker 1: was l nos you smoke O. And the seatbelts was
- 53:08Speaker 1: put on a seat belt. That was pretty fun. I
- 53:13Speaker 1: had noticed that before. I don't think.
- 53:16Speaker 3: Yeah, so dumb.
- 53:19Speaker 1: You want smoking or non smoking smoking box in the papers.
- 53:26Speaker 6: I love that, Kelly.
- 53:28Speaker 3: It's a good bit.
- 53:29Speaker 1: Also, if they're smoking on the plane, we're all in
- 53:31Speaker 1: the smoking section.
- 53:32Speaker 3: I think we can make right.
- 53:34Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, it's like the peeing section in the pool. Yes,
- 53:40Speaker 1: that was a George Carlin really funny. I like that
- 53:42Speaker 1: a lot.
- 53:44Speaker 6: Yeah, it was the last I loved it. It was
- 53:47Speaker 6: the last two rows of first class and then the
- 53:51Speaker 6: last four or five rows in coach. So the guy
- 53:54Speaker 6: in the last row of first class is smoking all
- 53:58Speaker 6: those people up. Yeah, they got him from botham was
- 54:03Speaker 6: pretty nasty.
- 54:04Speaker 5: I bet, I bet.
- 54:07Speaker 1: Yeah, that was all the lines I wrote down. I think.
- 54:10Speaker 3: Cool. Well, let's let's move on. Let's go to the
- 54:13Speaker 3: crying game. There's gonna be a quick one zero zero zero.
- 54:19Speaker 1: Wow, No, you're right, there's zero. There's not really Well
- 54:23Speaker 1: maybe when the dog attacked I still laughed, so probably
- 54:29Speaker 1: shouldn't have. I felt really seen by all those people
- 54:32Speaker 1: getting sick because they ate fish. That made me feel
- 54:35Speaker 1: the nice. Yeah. No, there was no booze in this film,
- 54:41Speaker 1: thank god. No, just they never say anything about it.
- 54:48Speaker 1: All right, let's go to some movie trivia. Now trivia,
- 54:52Speaker 1: let's see. Oh for the argument between the announcers concerning
- 54:55Speaker 1: the white zone and the red zones at the airport,
- 54:58Speaker 1: the producers hired the same voice artists who did the
- 55:00Speaker 1: real world announcements at the Los Angeles International Airport, and
- 55:05Speaker 1: at the airport the white zone is for loading, and uh,
- 55:08Speaker 1: there's no stopping in the red zone. But also those
- 55:11Speaker 1: two people were married in real life, which is kind
- 55:14Speaker 1: of crazy. That Yeah, that's why it was so believable
- 55:17Speaker 1: their spat I guess.
- 55:20Speaker 3: I love that.
- 55:23Speaker 1: Uh well, we kind of said this, We said they
- 55:26Speaker 1: were all playing sort of Uh. They picked really serious
- 55:30Speaker 1: actors to play these, you know, these roles, so I
- 55:32Speaker 1: don't think I need to say that. The I Gotta
- 55:35Speaker 1: get out of here scene where the stewardess tries to
- 55:38Speaker 1: calm down the hysterical passenger that we talked about, where
- 55:40Speaker 1: they're all smacking her and stuff, Uh, it was improvised
- 55:44Speaker 1: on the day that they were shooting. They were the
- 55:46Speaker 1: stewardess was gonna smack smack her once. Uh, but then
- 55:50Speaker 1: the person that was playing the nun or whatever or
- 55:54Speaker 1: the lady who's being the smacky as it were, she
- 55:59Speaker 1: was like, it'd be fun if a lot of people
- 56:01Speaker 1: did it. So then they did that there and even
- 56:03Speaker 1: included like the various props and things, and apparently the
- 56:07Speaker 1: Leslie Nielsen when he went to smack her the second time,
- 56:10Speaker 1: he accidentally made contact and they kept it in the
- 56:12Speaker 1: movie because they only ended up doing one take of
- 56:15Speaker 1: that where everybody smacked her. So it's pretty great. It's
- 56:18Speaker 1: pretty great. Let's see the first two days of the
- 56:24Speaker 1: movie's Grousse covered its entire production budget, which is pretty nuts.
- 56:28Speaker 1: That's awesome, pretty crazy.
- 56:31Speaker 5: Let's see.
- 56:32Speaker 1: In an interview in two thousand and eight, Kareem Abdul
- 56:35Speaker 1: Jabbar told the story of being on a European flight
- 56:38Speaker 1: where he was asked to sit in an empty seat
- 56:40Speaker 1: in the cockpit during takeoff so that the crew could
- 56:43Speaker 1: say they flew with Roger Murdoch. But I thought that
- 56:46Speaker 1: was pretty great. Oh, I love that. Also, could he
- 56:50Speaker 1: fit up there?
- 56:50Speaker 5: I mean, he's so tall, so big, tall, crazy.
- 56:55Speaker 1: I thought that was fun. To get them to get
- 56:58Speaker 1: Paramount to green the film, Abrams Zucker and Zucker pitched
- 57:04Speaker 1: it as National Lampoon's Animal House, but on a plane,
- 57:08Speaker 1: and they later said that's of course not true, but
- 57:11Speaker 1: it was the only way we could get them to
- 57:12Speaker 1: understand it was a zany comedy. Basically, that's cool. Whatever works.
- 57:18Speaker 1: Let's see. Oh this is crazy. So Lee Bryant plays
- 57:23Speaker 1: the wife. We didn't even say this, but the Jim
- 57:25Speaker 1: is never never has a second cup of coffee at home,
- 57:28Speaker 1: which is a of a real ubonn Coffee commercial that
- 57:33Speaker 1: was popular at the time. Apparently, but in an interview
- 57:37Speaker 1: with The av Club, Bryant recounted having to audition for
- 57:41Speaker 1: the role in Airplane, and apparently the directors didn't know
- 57:45Speaker 1: she was the one from the commercial. Actually, so she
- 57:48Speaker 1: got this part doing the exact same thing, but in
- 57:52Speaker 1: a movie without anyone apparently knowing that because it's never
- 57:55Speaker 1: been brought up. Isn't that crazy?
- 57:57Speaker 3: That's bizarre.
- 57:59Speaker 1: And they were entire She must have been like, well, yeah,
- 58:02Speaker 1: I should get this part. I did it your bastards, right.
- 58:06Speaker 1: I thought that was crazy.
- 58:09Speaker 3: It is crazy.
- 58:10Speaker 1: Uh? Was she the same one thing?
- 58:11Speaker 3: He said, but at least I have a husband. After
- 58:14Speaker 3: she went on.
- 58:18Speaker 1: Others through it. By the way, we never even said this.
- 58:21Speaker 1: The little girl she was sick. That is so funny,
- 58:26Speaker 1: and like the stewardest singing to her all that stuff
- 58:30Speaker 1: and pulling up the oh yeah, when the when.
- 58:32Speaker 3: The cord comes out of that little girl and then
- 58:34Speaker 3: she's like doing the fish moll.
- 58:36Speaker 1: Yeah, it's so funny. That was good. The little girl
- 58:40Speaker 1: from Longboat. Oh really, that's bud.
- 58:43Speaker 6: I didn't know that she was Captain Stubing's daughter.
- 58:48Speaker 1: Man, that's crazy. Speaking of people who played other roles,
- 58:52Speaker 1: the role of Jive Lady, it was originally intended for
- 58:55Speaker 1: Harriet Nelson would played the mother in the Adventures of
- 58:58Speaker 1: Ozzie and Harriet on TV. She turned it down because
- 59:02Speaker 1: she was concerned about the adult language in the movie,
- 59:04Speaker 1: and was replaced by Barbara Billingsley.
- 59:07Speaker 3: Who was from me so much funnier as Barbara because.
- 59:11Speaker 1: I recognize her. I don't know that I've ever seen
- 59:14Speaker 1: Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, to be honest, So but yeah,
- 59:17Speaker 1: I just thought that was pretty wild and fun. Robert
- 59:22Speaker 1: Hayes was in real life a licensed pilot and completed
- 59:26Speaker 1: his training in nineteen seventy four, so that's kind of fun.
- 59:30Speaker 1: The movie's dialogue between Ted Striker and Doctor Rumak. Surely
- 59:33Speaker 1: you can't be serious. I am serious. Don't call me
- 59:35Speaker 1: Shirley was voted as number seventy nine movie quote by
- 59:38Speaker 1: the American Film Institute. So, yeah, it's gotta be tough hunting,
- 59:42Speaker 1: but I'm glad it's in there at least.
- 59:44Speaker 3: No.
- 59:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't realize this, but the three directors had
- 59:48Speaker 1: a long battle with the Director's Guild of America, who
- 59:51Speaker 1: initially refused to let them have a three director credit,
- 59:56Speaker 1: and so Jim Abram abrahams eagally changed his name to
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: Abraham's and Zuckers in order to ensure credit was given
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: to all three directors, but the guild ultimately allowed the
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: three director credit. So that's so funny. That's a clever
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: way to get around the rule. Auto. The Automatic Pilot
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: ultimately disintegrated after spending several years in Jerry Zucker's garage.
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: So update on Auto. He's passed. The Jaws spoof that
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: we see at the very beginning of the film was
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: made of layers of cotton on a piece of plywood
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: with a hidden wire track for the plane to fly
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: around in and it works perfectly. It's so funny.
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: Well, you get.
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: Why they were able to reach the production, no doubt
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: with that, no doubt, no doubt. And this was fun.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: I thought in the scene where the husband turns on
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: the air for his sick wife when she first is
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: having the belly pain or whatever, you see in the
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: background that there's a man wearing a large beard. It
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: was supposed to fly off in the wind, but apparently
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: they adhesive they used wouldn't cause it to come loose.
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: And I went back and watched it, and you can
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: see him trying to like scrunch up his face and
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: help the beard come up. I don't think i'd ever
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: knowing before, but I just thought that was great. That
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: was all the trivia I had, Bud, do you have
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: any I got a couple of things.
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: Yeah. Vincent Price was offered the role of Doctor Rumac.
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: He turned it down, and then it went to Leslie Nilsen.
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: He said, it's the biggest regret of his career. But
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: I feel like it wasn't Vincent Price kinda didn't he
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: do like the scary, seamy stuff.
- 1:01:39Speaker 6: Because of the Shatter Day horror movie.
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: Yeah right, and he was the thriller guy weird. He
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: was the Yeah. Yeah, then I cannot picture that.
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: I feel I'm glad it went to Leslie Nielsen.
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: Super glad. Yeah, I agree.
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: It looks like Kareem Abdul Jabbar's role was originally supposed
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: to be Pete Rose, but he was playing baseball at
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: the time. He was offered thirty grand to appear in
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: the movie, but he asked for thirty five to buy
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: a rug.
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: All right, so that's pretty great. That's why I didn't
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: get it.
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: Letterman auditioned for the role of Ted Striker and they
- 1:02:30Speaker 3: liked his reading.
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: But apparently I don't know.
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: He pretty much like wasn't really comfortable with it either,
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: and so he was pretty excited or happy that he
- 1:02:40Speaker 3: like didn't have to do it weird, but apparently they
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: did show his audition tape on the talk show and
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: he was super bad. And then the Julie Haggarty role,
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: Sigourney Weaver and Shelley Long auditioned for it, which, honestly,
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: I think either one.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: I think they could have done it. Yeah, I'm with
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: your job as well, Long especially, I.
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: Agree with you.
- 1:03:08Speaker 6: But the voice Jullie Hager is another character in the
- 1:03:15Speaker 6: like and what about Bob and everything she's been Yeah,
- 1:03:19Speaker 6: you heard that voice and I think about that moment.
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:03:24Speaker 6: Also, the guys doing the directing the plans, those are
- 1:03:29Speaker 6: the suckers.
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: I didn't know that.
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: That's fine.
- 1:03:33Speaker 6: I already gave you the Jimmy Walker checking the.
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: Other Yeah, yeah, that's great that.
- 1:03:39Speaker 6: I don't have a lot of trivia. But oh and
- 1:03:42Speaker 6: the Zucker's mom was in it too. She was in
- 1:03:46Speaker 6: a scene on the airplace, the one that hangs herself.
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: No, no, that would have been funny, but that's funny. Nice.
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: Well that was Yeah, that was a Judgment Day. Will
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: there be a sequel? There?
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: Was is I don't.
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: I think I've seen it, but I don't even remember
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: anything about it, so it's probably not either. It it
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: was written and directed by another day Hen Finkleman, and
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: so I don't know. I feel like these guys are
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: so good, but I don't remember seeing.
- 1:04:27Speaker 6: The guy who was so funny in the Control Tower.
- 1:04:31Speaker 6: He was funny in it, okay, and that was the
- 1:04:34Speaker 6: highlight of the whole movie.
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: Yeah, it was his part.
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: See that.
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: It had Robert Haynes and Julian Haggerty and Lloyd Bridges.
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: They added Raymond Burr, who of course played like Perry Mason.
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: Oh sure, Rip Torn was in it. Shatner was in it.
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: Maybe I'll have to watch. Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: I might have to check it out. Interesting, But you
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: I just want to play a game. Yeah, sure, I
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: made a starting five. So I'm going to name my
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: five favorite actors from a particular film. When you know
- 1:05:07Speaker 3: the film, you're going to ring in with your name.
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: If you get it wrong, there's no negative points. You
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: won't be able to guess again for that movie. However,
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: if there are actors names remaining, you can guess those
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: for a point each. The other person can steal if
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: you get any of those names wrong. And all of
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: these films have something in common. When you know the theme,
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: you can ring it at any time for a point. Sweet,
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: we're sharing a computer, so I put no, I have
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: the idea. Here, We're good. I say that, and nowhere
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: is it?
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: Here it is? Okay? Are we h Number one?
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: The first name is Ian Holme, the second name Harry
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: Dean Stanton.
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: You ughs alien?
- 1:06:03Speaker 3: How on earth?
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: How did you get that?
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: So?
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: I think I've seen I've seen it. I knew they
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: were both in it. I don't know who else?
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: Uh? Oh?
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: And Home he.
- 1:06:15Speaker 6: Played the android?
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: Yeah? Well and spoiler right, he's definitely but no in
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: the movie.
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, yeah, he's not Bilbo in that movie. Just kidding.
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: Sigourney Weaver.
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: Yeah. Two more?
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: Bill Paxton's in that one?
- 1:06:35Speaker 5: Right?
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: Is he alien?
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: I don't One more guests?
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: Who else is in it? Okay?
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: Uh?
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: So you uh, you have to to choose from? You
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: can't choose?
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: And home Harry Dean Stanton or Sigourney Weaver. Yeah he
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: is in it?
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: Wow, I mean he probably.
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: Give given him for sure.
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: And one more name I don't know, Well, you should
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: have one should have two really.
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: Should, well, you both should five four three two.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: John Hurt was the one.
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: Yeah, that's right, and then pick of Fences star Tom Scarett.
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: Come up to one. I've only ever seen that once.
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: Somehow I knew those two were in it though.
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: Yeah, that was impressive. That was impressive.
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: So you got you got two points and my dad
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: got a I got a point. One, I get a point.
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: You had one half take it away from half a character.
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: That's true, but he wasn't one of the five that
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: I chose. It's very clear. I'll name my five face
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: writ actors. You just have to pick which ones you
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: think that I would know, Like, I get it. I
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: love John Hers, Great, Harry Dean stan.
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: All right. Number two. The first name is Don.

- 1:08:51Speaker 1: other guy's name, if I'm right, is it Avatre Avatar?
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: Sorry, no, it's yes. Yes, you do have one name remaining,
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: and it is the guy that you're not thinking.
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: I don't think I know his name, so you can
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: just go ahead. D's name?
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: You know?
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: Do you know the guy's name, D Chris Pratt.
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: It's not Chris Pratt. His name is Sam Worthing.
- 1:09:20Speaker 6: He was grading the ledge.
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: Like he was. He's good. I just I can't think
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: of his name.
- 1:09:27Speaker 6: I couldn't remember. He was blue.
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: He was yeah, well it was not all the part
- 1:09:32Speaker 3: at the time, but yeah. Let's go to number three.
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: The first name is Will Patton. The second name is
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: Steve Blumi, Bukes, Bukes, ar Mgeddon Armageddon is correct. You
- 1:09:50Speaker 3: have three names remaining.
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: Bruce willis correct?

- 1:09:56Speaker 1: Oh no, would you say uh?
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: Ben a Flack erect one? More name?
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: Would you say him?

- 1:10:08Speaker 1: No, live Tyler? It was Tyler one.
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: Do you know?
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: Do you well?
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: I mean there's some other that's true, there's quite a
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: few of them. That's a hard one. Who what is
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: the one actor that I picked? Uh? That is remaining?
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: You can't say Bruce willis, Ben Affleck, Steve Buscemi or
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: Will Patten.
- 1:10:30Speaker 6: I can see him, I can't think of his name.
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: I don't know who was the other person.
- 1:10:36Speaker 3: I can't think his name.
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: I'm tired, boss from Green Mile.
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: Not Michael Clark Duncan. It is a three namer. Uh,
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: it's Billy Bobbsey, did I get? But you got Ben Affleck,
- 1:10:50Speaker 3: Bruce Willis and Armageddon but I didn't. And do we
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: know what the themes.
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: Movies where it's one word and it starts a day.
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: That's absolutely right. So all of these movies start with
- 1:11:03Speaker 3: a and it's a one word title on it.
- 1:11:05Speaker 5: On it today.
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: I got half a point.
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: I'm like you, let's do it quicker here.
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: Number one. The first name is Mark O'Brien. Anybody got it?
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: He knows who that is? Marco. That's a good question.
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: Mark Bryan from Spain, from that Clara.
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: The second name is Michael Stoolbar. We love the stool
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: Now you're just making names.
- 1:11:41Speaker 5: You know.
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: Very well. Probably met a memberlin. The third name is
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: Forrest Whittaker. I'll should be thinking about this, okay. The
- 1:11:53Speaker 3: fourth name is Jeremy Renner. The fifth and final name
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: is Minnesota's own Amy Adams. Oh, good Lord, Bukes Arrival.
- 1:12:09Speaker 5: I would have been so mad.
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: I didn't get that in the name.
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: Of the movie.
- 1:12:12Speaker 6: I've only seen it, so good, isn't it?
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: Fred? Yeah, it's a good one.
