- C0692: You're packing every order by yourself. You're buzzing in drivers every few minutes. And now your manager says you're responsible for anything that walks out the door. Well, hey, this is Sean, and welcome back to Prayer Before Work. So a young woman who was working overnight in a warehouse shared this story and and I wanted to say up front, what she's describing is not normal. So a new manager came in and let go of more than half the crew. Well now she's often alone on her shift, packing orders, putting away shipments, unlocking the door for a steady stream of drivers. Now he gives long speeches about positive thinking when she looks overwhelmed, and he also keeps asking her personal questions, including her age, like over and over, even after she'd sidestepped it. And now he's told her that if anything goes missing, she'll face discipline. So she's supposed to watch every driver. Confront anyone who grabs the wrong bag in a rough part of town in the middle of the night while doing the work of several people. She called in sick once in months, and he grilled her about it. Now she's looking for a new job, but in the meantime, she's thinking about doing exactly what he says to the letter and letting the orders pile up. Now if you're somewhere like that, there's a short verse in Nehemiah I want you to consider. Now Nehemiah was rebuilding the wall around Jerusalem, and people were openly working against him. And in chapter 4, verse 9, he writes, And we prayed to our God and set a guard as a protection against them day and night. So they prayed and they set a guard. Now Nehemiah didn't see those as opposites. Trusting God didn't mean leaving the gate wide open. So pray. Bring God the exhaustion. And the anger and the fear, and then set some guards. Start writing things down. Dates. What was asked? What was said. The personal questions too. And keep it somewhere that isn't on a work device. Right? Put the impossible part in writing to him. You have to say, I can't pack every order and also monitor every driver. So which do you want me to prioritize? That's not really defiance, it's just being Honest and it puts the decision where it belongs. And find out if there's anyone above him or an HR contact that you can reach. but please hear this. No warehouse stock is worth your personal safety. Don't put yourself in a confrontation in the middle of the night to protect inventory. You don't have to answer personal questions that make you uncomfortable either. I'd rather keep it private is a complete answer. And keep looking for the next job. Leaving a place like this isn't is not a bad idea. Sometimes it's just wise. So let's pray. Well God, some of us are working in places that are wearing us down and and we feel often very alone in it. But Lord, be our protection day and night. Give us wisdom about what to write down, what to say, and who to go to. Lord, keep us safe, especially in the hours where nobody else is around. But also Guard our hearts from bitterness while we wait. And open the right door soon. We trust you, Lord, and we pray in Jesus' name. Amen. Now go make today count.
