• 0:04
Good morning. This is the Sacramento Brief, your
• 0:08
weekday roundup of overnight headlines and what's
• 0:11
ahead across the city. I'm Carol. It's Tuesday,
• 0:16
August 5th, 2025. Let's get you caught up. In
• 0:21
news, the Sacramento lowrider lane signs have
• 0:24
been stolen, sparking community outrage. The
• 0:28
Sacramento Lowrider Commission says street lines
• 0:31
for Lowrider Lane along Broadway have gone missing,
• 0:34
calling the act a painful blow to the community's
• 0:37
cultural recognition. The group emphasizes the
• 0:41
signs represent decades of history, advocacy,
• 0:45
and pride, adding they remain committed to protecting
• 0:48
and uplifting Lowrider culture. In an incident
• 0:53
from Sunday evening, officers responded to a
• 0:56
report of a shooting in the 1700 block of West
• 0:59
  El Camino. Around 9 .43 p .m., responding officers
• 1:03
located an adult male victim with at least one
• 1:07
gunshot wound. The victim was transported to
• 1:10
an area hospital where he is in stable condition.
• 1:14
Officers did not locate a suspect on the scene
• 1:16
and the investigation is ongoing. In today's
• 1:20
weather, we'll have a high of about 90 degrees.
• 1:23
And as the week progresses, we're looking for
• 1:26
those temperatures to heighten. In traffic, Train
• 1:30
520 departing Oakland -Jack London Square is
• 1:35
late due to a late release of equipment from
• 1:38
the maintenance facility. They will have updates
• 1:41
on the Capitol Corridor website as more information
• 1:44
becomes available. Caltrans has requested CHP
• 1:49
units for a traffic break on southbound I -5
• 1:52
at Richards Boulevard. CHP will advise when that
• 1:56
traffic break will begin. So there's ongoing
• 1:59
construction there and they'll have equipment
• 2:02
moving on and off the freeway. So check your
• 2:05
route before you head out. Any events? The Pro
• 2:10

• 2:14

four -day -a -night festival of comedy, education,
• 2:32
insight, and fun. This event starts tomorrow
• 2:35
and runs through the 9th. That's all for today's
• 2:41
Sacramento Brief. You'll find the links to today's
• 2:43
events in the show notes. I'm Carol. Thank you
• 2:47
for trusting me with your morning. Be safe, stay
• 2:50
sharp, and I'll see you tomorrow.
