Former United States Attorney for the Western District of Washington, Roger Rogoff , filed a lawsuit against President Donald Trump and the Justice Department after being fired via email just 54 minutes after taking office.
Rogoff emphasized that this legal step was taken to upholdthe principle of the ruleoflawand protect the independence of judicial institutions from political intervention.
