Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello, everybody, Welcome to the Inside the Birds pregame show.
- 0:13I'm Jeff Mosher alongside Adam Kaplan and with us as
- 0:17always to provide the most thorough preview of an Eagles
- 0:21game is Greg Cosell. He's the star of Inside the Tape.
- 0:25With Greg Cosell on Inside the Birds and we are
- 0:27gonna preview what I think is the best matchup of
- 0:31the weekend. It's a very interesting slate of NFL games.
- 0:33The Monday night game is fantastic, but for Sunday games,
- 0:36Eagles Rams is where it's at, and it will be
- 0:39at the Link. It is a rematch for the Eagles
- 0:42and Rams because they played both in the regular season
- 0:44last year and in the playoffs in both were memorable
- 0:48games for different reasons. And it is also a matchup
- 0:51fellas of two two and ohero teams. The Rams off
- 0:54to a good start with a win over the Texans
- 0:57fourteen to nine and the opener, and then they went
- 0:59and beat the Tennessee Titans last week thirty three, nineteen
- 1:02and as we all know, the Eagles are also two
- 1:05and ozer with wins over the Cowboys twenty four to
- 1:08twenty and the Chiefs twenty to seventeen. So this is
- 1:12a fantastic game. And Adam, the one thing that I
- 1:15just in doing the NFL preview show that I do
- 1:17on our platform, there are so many freaking injuries already
- 1:23by week three, I mean quarterbacks, there's like five quarterbacks
- 1:25who are out, there's linemen who are out. These teams
- 1:30at least we'll start with the Eagles much much healthier.
- 1:33And obviously Dallas Goddard looks like he was definitely gonna
- 1:35play and that's great for the y.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Yeah, he's clear. It was clear Friday.
- 1:38Speaker 3: That is huge because he didn't do anything last week
- 1:40other than rehab that knee. The fact that he was
- 1:43back now he took the starters reps Friday, so that's
- 1:46when you knew it. And they didn't give Hi a
- 1:47game status desigination, so that means he's playing less. Something
- 1:49happened in pregame, so getting him back. We talked about
- 1:53the issue at blocking with Calcaterra and lot who only
- 1:55played six snaps pretty much as Sirianni talked about as
- 1:58a fullback. So they off the worry about that. Now
- 2:01it's a big deal, man, with this quick front and
- 2:03we'll get in with Greg about their defensive front. But
- 2:06this is a big deal, no question.
- 2:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:07Speaker 1: And Greg, you wonder what I wonder about Goddard coming back, Well,
- 2:11two things. One that we'll get into a little later.
- 2:13Just he's going to help the passing offense and just
- 2:15the overall offense. But in his absence, I'm curious to
- 2:19see whose role does Kylon Granson not play nearly as much,
- 2:25or does Cam lat To get no role, or do
- 2:27you start to see Cam lat two as a fullback
- 2:31get a little bit more involved in the offense.
- 2:34Speaker 4: I mean that speculation. I think the one thing we
- 2:36know for sure is that Dallas Goddard can block defensive
- 2:40ends in the run game, and I think that's been
- 2:44a little bit of an issue through the first two games.
- 2:47You know, remember talking to Ross Tucker this week a
- 2:51matter of fact, and it wasn't about Goddard. It was
- 2:54another tight end, but I can't remember who it was.
- 2:56And Ross was saying that people just don't realize how
- 3:00important a tight end that can block an edge player,
- 3:04whether it's a d end in the case of the
- 3:05Rams or an outside linebacker on a five to two front,
- 3:09is how important that is to a run game. If
- 3:13he can block them one on one, that gives you
- 3:15so many more things you can do in your run
- 3:17game as far as you know, working up to the
- 3:19next level and getting second level players block, even getting
- 3:23third level players blocked. So to me, yes, I mean, obviously,
- 3:29based on the first two games, we don't really are
- 3:31I don't anyway. I'm just being honest. I don't have
- 3:33a great sense of what the Eagles pass game will
- 3:36look like this week. But the run game, for sure,
- 3:39we know is a foundation, and he changes the run
- 3:42game meaningfully. Yeah.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 3:45Speaker 1: You know, Greg, when you realize, do you know, when
- 3:47you realize the most how how well you have it
- 3:50when you have a tight end who can block an
- 3:51edge defender is when he's out and.
- 3:54Speaker 2: You're yeah, yeah, appreciate it.
- 3:59Speaker 1: That started pretty last week.
- 4:01Speaker 4: Yeah, No, I mean it's no knock on Ka Katerra.
- 4:04Ka Katerra grew up in the game as a receiver,
- 4:07and you know, and that's what he was in Oklahoma.
- 4:09That's what he was when he came back and played
- 4:11at SMU. I'm sure when the Eagles drafted him, that's
- 4:14what they saw him as. But you know, things change
- 4:16and you have to try to do what you're asked
- 4:19to do, but that's just not his forte all right.
- 4:22Speaker 1: As for other Eagles injuries, Will Shipley remained out with
- 4:27the oblique or broken rib, whatever you want to call it. Well,
- 4:30we will see if that leads to anything more for
- 4:34now that this will be his second game for Tank Bigsby,
- 4:38we'll see. And then questionable Tanner McKee with the right
- 4:42thumb as he continues to come back from that fracture.
- 4:44That's the best designation that he's questionable is good and
- 4:48we'll see if he is the number two quarterback for
- 4:50the game. Other than that, very healthy. They had a
- 4:52little scare I guess with Byron Young throughout the week
- 4:55a lacerated forehead, so you can put that on the
- 4:58new injury thing. Listen, designations that I'd never seen before.
- 5:02Thankfully he's okay and then everything else pretty good to
- 5:06go at him. This is a good healthy team right now.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Yeah, Jalen Carter, Remember we Jeff when Carter was drafted,
- 5:11we talked about the shoulder issues he had at Georgia
- 5:13and something to keep an eye on the forehead laceration.
- 5:18Typically just from looking into these things, I've actually seen
- 5:20this before, but it'll say lasceration.
- 5:22Speaker 2: They usually don't say where it is.
- 5:26Speaker 3: Typically it comes when someone grabs your face mask and
- 5:28it rips and it you have like a big cut
- 5:32like that could happen. But again, he's been cleared, shimpley.
- 5:35Here's the positive thing. Though he did work this week.
- 5:37That's good. That's really a good sign. It potentially could
- 5:40be back the next week. And we'll talk about if
- 5:42he gets cleared for the pregame next week.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Okay, what's is how are they gonna work all these
- 5:46backs in that that's the challenge.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, all right, So let's talk about the Rams
- 5:51and their injury situation. Their offensive line has been a
- 5:56little bit beat up already earlier.
- 5:58Speaker 4: In the year.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Now, I know Steve Avla is their left guard and
- 6:01he is is it doubtful, Adam.
- 6:03Speaker 3: Yeah, he's He didn't do anything this week. He's not
- 6:06expected to play. Brandon Fisk did get some work on
- 6:09on Friday. He's more of a see what happens to
- 6:12a warm ups guy that these are bleaks man, you know, Jeff,
- 6:15because you're a big baseball guy. If you're a picture
- 6:17has in a bleaker out two months or six weeks.
- 6:19Oh yeah, and.
- 6:20Speaker 2: And Fisk got hurt. Give the guy credit.
- 6:23Speaker 3: He tried to play through it, but he was limited
- 6:25to thirteen snaps or something. Last week he got hurt
- 6:27in pregame warm ups and Kobe Parkinson, who would be
- 6:31their why tight end? You that he's one of the
- 6:33highest paid backup tight ends in the NFL. He's paid
- 6:35a lot to block, and he's he missed last week's game.
- 6:39Speaker 2: With a shoulder issue. He did get some work in
- 6:41a matter off. Can he take contact or not?
- 6:43Speaker 4: Right?
- 6:44Speaker 1: So it sounds like they're pretty good. We'll see if
- 6:46Fisk makes it out on the field. And Avila is
- 6:49their left guard, so if he's out, Greg, is it?
- 6:52Is it Adam? Is it the d ditch guy who
- 6:54fills in at left guard?
- 6:55Speaker 4: Yes?
- 6:55Speaker 2: He started last week. Do you remember him at all
- 6:57from comfege?
- 6:58Speaker 3: No?
- 6:58Speaker 1: I do not.
- 6:58Speaker 4: I don't think I did him, and I didn't study
- 7:00him last week. I can't. I don't really have you
- 7:04know any comment on him.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Jeff, real quick.
- 7:06Speaker 3: They've done a phenomenal job of putting these guys in there,
- 7:11not always offense at whatever position. It's the kid bo
- 7:15Limmer last season, right, Yeah, yeah, it was good last season,
- 7:18but he came out of nowhere. Eric Jackson, who was
- 7:21an undrafted free agent, just got paid big time, Jeff.
- 7:23So they do a great job here of developing guys.
- 7:26And the other buyer and young who will talk about later.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, they draft and develop as well as any
- 7:31team in the NFL. And obviously this guy's not injured.
- 7:34But there was a scare for Matthew Stafford earlier in
- 7:38training camp because of his back injury that just wasn't
- 7:41seemingly cooperating. But after two weeks, Greg, I'm sure you'll
- 7:46you'll tell us this. He looks pretty good, doesn't he
- 7:47look like pretty good? Yeah?
- 7:50Speaker 4: Yeah, he's It's it's pretty remarkable the way the guy
- 7:53can keep playing at his age. I mean, he's still
- 7:55a really really good player.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Yeah yeah. And now he's got DeVante Adams on his side,
- 8:01so makes a big difference. And this is again, I
- 8:04think this is a really awesome matchup to two to
- 8:06zero teams, two powerhouses, two teams that know each other.
- 8:10And we will see in the Eagle side as we
- 8:12go through it if history will repeat for the Eagles.
- 8:15Before we get into Eagles taking on, we'll go with
- 8:18Eagles offense first against the Rams defense. Let me pause
- 8:22real quick for a word from our great sponsors. Hey,
- 8:24you know that one guy in the group chat who
- 8:27hit a five leg parlay week one and he wouldn't
- 8:30shut up about it for the rest of the season.
- 8:32Speaker 5: Sounds like Kaplan, right, Yeah, Yeah, it could be him.
- 8:35It could be you, and we would all want to
- 8:38be you. My bookie makes it stupid easy to get
- 8:42in on the action, whether it's college ball, NFL Super
- 8:46Contest and Survivor pools. All the spreads, player props and
- 8:51in game lines that.
- 8:52Speaker 1: You could want, all under one roof. What more could
- 8:56you want than that?
- 8:58Speaker 6: If you're new to my Bookie, use our code the
- 9:03Birds THG B I rds the Birds use the code,
- 9:08and any bet you choose up to five hundred dollars
- 9:11is fully covered. Make your play, and if it doesn't hit,
- 9:15you get it right back when you opt in using your.
- 9:18Speaker 4: Bet back bonus token.
- 9:20Speaker 5: There is no better time to jump in right now,
- 9:24No better place to play football is back.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Let's make some money with my bookie. Okay, So let's
- 9:31take a look. Because so many people want to talk
- 9:33about the Eagles offense and even though we went through
- 9:35it on a tape and we discussed it. I think
- 9:37that there is an expectation and I understand this, that
- 9:40the Eagles will be able to control, they will get
- 9:43their mojo back on the ground because of what Saquon
- 9:47Barkley did to the Rams last year. So I'll ask
- 9:51I'll start with you, Adam, and I'll get Greg from
- 9:53a tape breakdown standpoint. But there's kind of been this
- 9:58sentiment that the Egles are gonna come out thrown. These
- 9:59are and they just haven't been able to do it.
- 10:01Do you think this is a come out running because
- 10:04they've done it really well in the past.
- 10:05Speaker 2: They could do either.
- 10:06Speaker 3: But to me, it's not so much how much they throw,
- 10:09it's how they do it or how many times.
- 10:11Speaker 2: It's how they do it. I expect them to be aggressive.
- 10:14Speaker 3: I mean, basically, you look at this cornerback group and
- 10:17I can't wait to get Greg's breakdown of Kobe Durant
- 10:20and the other guys who are going to play a killa.
- 10:23Weatherspoon's been around a long time, if I'm not mistake.
- 10:25He started in the Super Bowl for the Niners many
- 10:27years ago. He says he's a journeyman now he's thirty.
- 10:29He's not playing a broke's collarbone. But they just don't
- 10:32have depth of corner like this is when you throw it, Jeff,
- 10:35do you move this along?
- 10:36Speaker 2: They should be more successful. I don't see how they're not.
- 10:40Speaker 1: That is true. They should be more successful. We'll see.
- 10:42We'll talk about their what the Rams will do defensively,
- 10:45that might differ. But staying on the Barkley thing, Greg
- 10:48a lot. You know, a lot is made about the
- 10:51Rams being light front. They have a light front. They
- 10:53don't have a lot of big, heavy run stuffing guys.
- 10:56And you know, just to reiterate the stats, last year,
- 10:59Saint Kwon bar twenty six carries for two hundred and
- 11:02fifty five yards and two touchdowns in Week eleven and
- 11:05then in the playoffs twenty six more carries for two
- 11:08hundred and five yards and two more touchdowns. Just unbelievable.
- 11:12How he tore up the Rams last year.
- 11:14Speaker 4: Yeah, and he had the big runs. I mean, that's
- 11:16the key, which we've talked about that that's what creates
- 11:19the yards. And obviously they count, but you know, they
- 11:23really they could not stop the run game, and that's
- 11:26got to be number one. And you know fit with
- 11:30fists being out all It's funny you say that the
- 11:33player who probably play the majority of the snaps in
- 11:36his place, if he can't play meaningful snaps, maybe he's
- 11:39a only playing in passing situation. You know, we don't
- 11:42know this, but poona Ford is probably a better run
- 11:45defender than Fisk, and he'll get the majority of the snaps,
- 11:49certainly in your base defense. And he's he's he's actually
- 11:54a good run defender. So we'll see. But I think
- 11:56every team not I think we know every team in
- 12:00playing the Eagles with the idea that it all starts
- 12:02with the run game, and you have to you know,
- 12:05that's that's where it begins.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Do you believe that there's something to the Rams being
- 12:10light upfront and that is their issue? Parkly?
- 12:13Speaker 2: Okay?
- 12:13Speaker 4: Sure, I mean you're dealing with an offensive line that
- 12:17is you know, obviously Steen is there in place of Becton,
- 12:21So I don't know. If they're still the heaviest in
- 12:23the league five across, they're certainly going to be close
- 12:25to that. It's a very big, strong offensive line, and
- 12:30my Alatta and Dickerson are really strong run blockers. They
- 12:34move people, you know, so yes, it's there is a
- 12:40factor there. I mean, players like Fisk. While he's strong
- 12:44for his size, no question, he's not a weak player,
- 12:47but you know he's he's not three hundred and twenty pounds,
- 12:51So yes, that does mean something.
- 12:53Speaker 1: And if I recall correctly, Fellas, it was setting the
- 12:56edge was a difficult issue for them last year. Even
- 12:59their corner had a tough time their linebackers coming down
- 13:02and scrape. I just Barkley was able to break a
- 13:04few by getting to the outside and then just shifting
- 13:07into another level. And I forgot to mention because he's
- 13:11already out for the year, so he's not on the
- 13:12injury report. They lost their cornerback, Akilo Witherspoon. Sorry, yeah, yeah.
- 13:21Speaker 4: So that's that's got to be number one. We'll see
- 13:25how they choose to to go about doing it tactically.
- 13:29You know, their linebackers are are all our Spates and
- 13:33and Landman net Landman they brought in from I believe Atlanta.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Yeah, he's a pretty.
- 13:38Speaker 4: Good player and he's played well through two games, so
- 13:41it's it's a little bit different. Grew Spas played a
- 13:43lot toward the end of last year. He became a
- 13:45starter and he's he's a pretty solid player. He's not
- 13:49overly big either, by the way, So you know, it
- 13:52is a lighter unit. It's a fast unit, but it's
- 13:55a lighter unit. So, uh, you know they're gonna That's
- 14:00that's why it'll be interesting from a tactical perspective because
- 14:03they're not just gonna line up and play. I mean, obviously,
- 14:06when you're a defensive line there are times you've just
- 14:08got to win one on one matchups, obviously, but they're
- 14:11not just gonna line up and say, Okay, we're gonna
- 14:13win one on one matchups all game all that's They're
- 14:16not just gonna play that way.
- 14:19Speaker 1: So I guess what I would like to know is, Greg,
- 14:23how do you see what Chris Shula does defensively and
- 14:27that compare to say, what you know Steve Spags will
- 14:31do or what uh you know in the first week
- 14:35the Cowboys?
- 14:35Speaker 2: Uh?
- 14:36Speaker 1: By am I forgetting the Cowboys coordinator? Who's the Cowboys
- 14:40defensive coordinator? Enemies to Yeah, where does Sula fall between
- 14:46those guys as far as the zone and cover or
- 14:48rush and blitz? What do you what do you see
- 14:50on that They're.
- 14:52Speaker 4: Not a heavy, heavy blitz team because they brush the
- 14:57quarterback really well with their down four. But of course
- 14:59that counts Fisk. Fisk. You know, this is a team
- 15:02that if you get if they get the offense in
- 15:06pure past situations, they are a heavy stunt team and
- 15:10they're really really good at it. But Fisk is a
- 15:13significant part of that because he's a very athletic guy
- 15:18with some bend ins and flexibility, and he's a very
- 15:20explosive athlete. So if he's not there, I don't know.
- 15:26If Ford stays in, it might be Murchison, who's been
- 15:29around the league a little bit, who played meaningful snaps
- 15:32last week. So now you're we don't know the answer
- 15:35to this, guys. You know, I wish I did. But
- 15:37if it's not Fisk when they're in their pure pass situation,
- 15:41you know, I don't know if you'll see as much
- 15:43of the the loaded fronts and the stunting that we're
- 15:46used to seeing. You just don't know the answer to that.
- 15:51You know, they have Lake, who's a really, really good player,
- 15:55A really good player, Yeah yeah, in some way he's
- 16:00similar to a player they just played against last week.
- 16:03And Chamari Connor, a guy that is sort of a Nickel,
- 16:07but he can play in the box as well, he
- 16:09can play on the back end. He can play anywhere,
- 16:12and he's a really really good football player, and he
- 16:15gets involved. There's a physical element to him, so he
- 16:18does get involved in the run game. So you know,
- 16:21Quentin Lake's a really really good player. Cameron Kitchens is
- 16:25the second year safety from the University of Miami and
- 16:29he's another physical guy. So it'll be interesting if the
- 16:32Eagles feel that they can get over the top somewhere
- 16:36along the line in this game. Because Kitchens is is
- 16:40he's really a downhill thumper. That's the way he would
- 16:42like to play. So I think there'll be opportunities in
- 16:46the pass game. The question is, you know, what's it
- 16:50going to look like? You know, I don't feel real
- 16:52comfortable knowing what their past game is going to look like.
- 16:55Speaker 3: Yeah, but I agree with Greg though, this is situation.
- 17:00If they pass it, if they decide they're going to do,
- 17:03you never really truly know. But if they do, they
- 17:05gotta be more successful. Well, get to the quarnerback group
- 17:08and Cam curl was the guy, Greg that you loved with.
- 17:11Speaker 4: The players too, Yeah, the corner position, not at the
- 17:15safety position. I think they have three good players in Lake,
- 17:18who's kind of a hybrid nickel safety box. You know,
- 17:22he does everything. I think Curl is a good player,
- 17:24and Kitchens is good for you know, he's a good
- 17:27player too. The question is at the corner position.
- 17:30Speaker 2: And let's go there.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Yeah. So with witherspooning out Adam, who is their first
- 17:35man up?
- 17:36Speaker 3: Well, that's gonna be the five dollars question because they
- 17:40just they're kind of running out of player.
- 17:41Speaker 2: So if Kobe Durant's going to be one of.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Them, Darius Williams, who won't go away, he's still playing.
- 17:48He was an original ram that signed for big money
- 17:50with Baltimore and Jacksonville, but he's back.
- 17:52Speaker 4: Emmanuel Forbes, Yeah.
- 17:54Speaker 2: And that's the starter.
- 17:55Speaker 3: That's what we're gonna get to because we know what
- 17:56aj Brown's done against him. It's those three, Jeff, that's
- 17:59pretty much that they have left.
- 18:00Speaker 4: That's who they have.
- 18:01Speaker 3: Yeah, So that's why I think advantage Eagles here, Jeff. Again,
- 18:06they don't have to throw forty times, but when they
- 18:08do it, they've got to be more successful.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Gregor's Forbes played a whole lot this year of you.
- 18:12Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah, oh yeah.
- 18:13Speaker 2: He started.
- 18:14Speaker 4: He plays thirty five forty snaps a game. Absolutely, you know,
- 18:18it's funny, Jeff. The first game I watched the Saints
- 18:21week the Rams week one. You know, I'm looking and
- 18:24I'm going, you know, who's that guy? You know right away?
- 18:26You know, because you know, normally I notice the guys
- 18:30as I'm watching. I don't necessarily look at the play
- 18:33by play, you know, I just start watching and I
- 18:35can see the way our system set up and lists
- 18:38all the players playing on each play, and I'm like, Forbes,
- 18:41it's Emmanuel Forbes, you know, Yeah, so he's he's been
- 18:45playing meaningful snaps here. He plays thirty five forty snaps
- 18:50a game.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Yeah. So, I mean the fact that he made the
- 18:53team because he was he was now he was released
- 18:56by Washington. Didn't he go somewhere in between Adam or
- 18:59did he go straight?
- 19:00Speaker 2: He claimed off wears, but I'll double check that one.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Well either way, I mean, like, this is a guy
- 19:04who could not hold on to his job after two
- 19:06years in Washington, being a first round pick. So he
- 19:08made the Rams. They must have seen something. I know
- 19:09that they're not overly deep at corner, but very few
- 19:12teams are.
- 19:13Speaker 2: He's starting He started week one, so he's one of
- 19:15their starting corners.
- 19:16Speaker 4: Yeah, so yeah, because I mean last week, this is
- 19:18the game in which Witherspoon got hurt. He only played
- 19:21sixteen snaps, but Forbes and Witherspoon started on the out
- 19:24on the outside for the Rams and then Duran. Obviously
- 19:28he was part of that rotation even before Witherspoon got hurt.
- 19:32But then when Witherspoon got hurt, Williams played significant snaps.
- 19:35But it's a rotation. They they'll play Williams, Duran, and Forbes,
- 19:39they'll get they all get snaps.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Question on Forbes on the Greg, I just want to
- 19:43ask you about Forbes because everybody knows if you follow us.
- 19:47Speaker 4: I haven't noticed him in a negative way through two games.
- 19:50I mean, well you go, my god, you know yeah, yeah,
- 19:53I haven't known no, but the.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Bodies he still look does he still look really thin
- 19:56because that.
- 19:58Speaker 4: He might have gained a few pounds. But he's then
- 20:00the other guy who should be mentioned on this Rams defense.
- 20:02He's their dying player, and that's McCullough. And he's also
- 20:05a really good player, but he plays in dying, so
- 20:08he's not going to play Jalen mccull is not going
- 20:10to play every snap, but he's a really good player.
- 20:13They're a team that plays normally a very high percentage
- 20:16of dime, although they did not last week if memory
- 20:19serves me, Yeah they did. They did. They played twenty
- 20:21four snaps in dime last week. So they normally play
- 20:25depending on the opponent. Now, we'll see what the Eagles
- 20:28do as far as their personnel. But in a you know,
- 20:31normally when teams do play a lot of eleven, the
- 20:34Rams are a dying team. They'll play twenty five to
- 20:38thirty percent dying because mccull is a really good player,
- 20:40another guy that can line up in multiple spots.
- 20:43Speaker 2: But he's a safety by trade, is he not?
- 20:45Speaker 4: Yes?
- 20:46Speaker 2: Okay, gotcha.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Well, this will be a game where the Frady's. You know,
- 20:51past performance is not necessarily an indicator of future success.
- 20:55I mean, you have Barkley, who tore up the Rams
- 20:58you had last year. You have aj Around who tore
- 21:00up Emmanuel Forbes a couple of times back when he
- 21:03was with Washington. I know that that's sort of the
- 21:05big storyline is can these guys capitalize on the matchups
- 21:08that they have won in the past. What I wonder
- 21:11also Greg with I know Jared Verse, he's got off
- 21:14to a good start. He's got three quarterback hits, and
- 21:16I think Byron Young has three sacks already. To me,
- 21:20it's do these guys come out of the gate. They're
- 21:23gonna be fired up. This is gonna be an emotional game.
- 21:26We always talk about this. Rushing Jalen Hurts isn't as
- 21:32maybe big as how you rush Jalen Hurts. If you
- 21:35get inside and leave an outside alley your toast, if
- 21:38you can stunt or twitter you rush wide and keep
- 21:41them in the pocket and make him make a throw
- 21:44or push the lineman back into him, is when you succeed.
- 21:47And sometimes it feels like teams forget that in the
- 21:50first quarter and then they make the adjustment, sort of
- 21:52like the Cowboys in Week one. I'm very curious to
- 21:55see how they decide to come after and pressure Jalen Hurts.
- 21:58Speaker 4: Well, you know, just looking back, unrelated to that, but
- 22:01looking back at that game in the playoff game, Okay,
- 22:05one of the things, and we talked about this that
- 22:06the Eagles haven't done much of this through two games,
- 22:09but they used a ton of no huddle in that
- 22:11playoff game, and it's a great move against the Rams
- 22:15defensive front because they really don't like to take Verse,
- 22:18Turner and Young off the field. Now, we don't know
- 22:22about Fisk, so we'll leave that alone for the moment,
- 22:25but you know, they really don't like to take those
- 22:27guys off the field. So if you go no huddle
- 22:30and you start to wear them at a little bit,
- 22:31and particularly if you're can have some success running the ball,
- 22:34do we think there's going to be a sixty run
- 22:36and a seventy yard round? The percentage of that is
- 22:39not likely. Of course it could happen, but it's not likely.
- 22:45You know. I think maybe is this the week you
- 22:48see no huddle, you know, just which was very effective
- 22:51in that playoff game.
- 22:54Speaker 1: And on that note, getting Dallas Gotter back guys I
- 22:57think will be a good for just talked about how
- 23:00it would be good for the run game, could be
- 23:02good for the pass game. He's all of those guys that,
- 23:05you know, especially if they're playing too deep, which the
- 23:07Eagles have seen a lot, especially on first and second down,
- 23:10who can make some space in zones? And Greg I
- 23:12also wonder are the Egles not running RPOs as much lately?
- 23:16Has that not been a big part of their.
- 23:18Speaker 4: You know, I don't work seeing them as much. I mean,
- 23:20I'm not charting everyone, but I don't recall it, you know.
- 23:23So I mean for whatever it is in the Eagles offense,
- 23:26you know, particularly the pass game element. Yeah, I'm just
- 23:30you know, I'm like we spoke about earlier in the
- 23:33week when we evaluated just the Eagles game. I'm not
- 23:36sure what to make of their pass game right now.
- 23:39Speaker 3: Jeff one thing of Goddard though, and hurts together they
- 23:43I know it wasn't for a lot of arts, but
- 23:45he caught seven passes week one. Their chemistry for the
- 23:47first time I've watched them together in training camp with phenomenal.
- 23:51And I know Jalen gets criticized for not throwing over
- 23:54the middle, but I could tell you I saw plenty
- 23:57of throws inside the numbers, not like in the middle,
- 24:01but some inside the numbers in training camp.
- 24:03Speaker 2: So I'm really interested.
- 24:04Speaker 3: I know it's only been two games, got it didn't
- 24:06play in the second one. Let's see getting him back.
- 24:08You're you're all the right path, Goddard. He he can
- 24:11help him tremendously in this game, in the passing, the run.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Game, led the catches and yards in the playoffs. People
- 24:16forget that, you know.
- 24:17Speaker 4: You know, and I think, I think besides Barkley, the
- 24:19other thing to remember is Hurts in that playoff game. Hey,
- 24:21he had a forty four yard touchdown run right and
- 24:24that you know that ended the first possession. And I
- 24:28remember the play. I can see it in my mind.
- 24:30May a lot of pull. He was the rapper and
- 24:33he had no one to block, right, So I mean
- 24:35it was too easy. So you know, not only did
- 24:37Barkley you know, have a big game, but you know
- 24:40the Hurts run game factor. We keep talking about that.
- 24:43It's so big. It is so big, absolutely all right.
- 24:47Speaker 1: So that is a look at the Eagles offense against
- 24:50the Rams defense. Let's go talk about the Rams offense

- 27:31right this Eagles defense, They have been really impressive through
- 27:36the first two weeks. But let's really examine the match
- 27:39up here, because the Rams have two very good wide
- 27:42receivers everybody know this, and Puku Nakua and of course
- 27:45DeVante Adams and Greg. I sort of feel like this
- 27:48is more like the Week one preview where you have
- 27:51George Pickens an X, a natural X like DeVonta Adams
- 27:54is and then a move z in Lamb who gave
- 27:57a lot of problems for a Dorri. And you're probably
- 27:59gonna see similar matchups with Puka Nakua, who is also
- 28:02a guy who lines up everywhere, moves around reduced splits,
- 28:07and I have to think that there's going to be
- 28:09an concerted effort to get him on a Dori Jackson.
- 28:14Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, Adams does not move anywhere near as
- 28:17much as Nikou and Nico, and this is a heavy,
- 28:19heavy pre snap motion team. But look, Vic, you know, Vic,
- 28:25seen this. Keep one thing in mind, you know, if
- 28:27you go back to the playoff game last year, I
- 28:30mean that was a very intriguing game. It was in
- 28:32some ways more like the game they just played against
- 28:34the Chiefs. I mean they they played a ton of
- 28:38cover one that was the most played coverage versus the
- 28:40Rams in that playoff game. Now, obviously they were significant
- 28:43snaps of zone as well, but they played far more
- 28:47single high than too high against the Rams. They started
- 28:50to blitz a lot as the game progressed. You know,
- 28:54I remember, I can see it in my mind that
- 28:56they they in the fourth quarter, they were coming and
- 29:00they were man blitzes with cover one behind it. So again,
- 29:02you never know with Vic. You know, to try to
- 29:05predict what he's going to do is a waste of
- 29:07time or less a showing that everybody who just assumes, oh,
- 29:10for a man runs quarter structure, that's not what he
- 29:14did against the Rams in the playoff game. So because
- 29:17he did that in the playoff game, who knows, Maybe
- 29:19this game is a fore man rush and a quarter structure.
- 29:22Speaker 2: And what's eleven times last week? Who thought the right?
- 29:25I didn't see that coming.
- 29:26Speaker 4: But you're playing against a Rams team that's among the
- 29:28highest percentage precin movement team in the league. Their ground
- 29:32game is important to them, but it's more sustaining than explosive.
- 29:36But you know, now you have Adams, who is just
- 29:39a veteran who knows how to work against zone and
- 29:42find open voyage and soft spots and zones. And you've
- 29:45got Nakua, who is as good a run after catch
- 29:49receiver as there is in the league with his size, competitiveness, physicality,
- 29:54and he's the movement guy. So it'll be really interesting.
- 29:58You know, I don't think the Eagles this is just
- 30:04a guess. You know, I don't know if the Eagles
- 30:07will match up Mitchell on Adams. Okay, last week, and
- 30:12I think we mentioned that earlier in the week, the
- 30:14Titans matched up Sneaed on Adams. I said, Williams, pardon me, Adams,
- 30:18they'll match up. They matched up Snead with Jerry Sneid
- 30:21on Adams, and I don't know if the Eagles will
- 30:24do that with Mitchell. Maybe they'll just play sides and
- 30:27live with the fact that there's a lot of motion.
- 30:29And you know, if Adams is on Jackson, you know
- 30:35you got look, if he's You're starting corner, you gotta
- 30:37live with. I mean, you can't expect that the ball
- 30:40is never going to be thrown to Jackson.
- 30:42Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, I feel like with Vic we do
- 30:45typically see more zone. You bring up a great point
- 30:48on the rams let, but against teams that move as
- 30:50much as they with pre SAT motion. Isn't it easier
- 30:53to kind of sit in your zone and let guys,
- 30:56you know, work off of each other instead of trying
- 30:57to follow everybody around right right right?
- 31:00Speaker 4: You're well, yeah, you don't want to do that. That
- 31:02that's the thing, you know. That's why teams usually don't
- 31:04match up to motion guys because they move, and then
- 31:10you know, that affects the rest of your you know,
- 31:12people just assume, well, why don't you just you know,
- 31:13put Well, if you put a guy on him, then
- 31:15you have to put people on other people too, you know,
- 31:18so it's not just one thing, you know. Yep.
- 31:22Speaker 1: Hey, Adam Trek makes a great point. I would not
- 31:24be surprised if the conversation between less Need and McVeigh
- 31:28after that Eagles loss and going into the off season
- 31:31was we really need a guy opposite Nikulah who can
- 31:35beat man. If teams want to play single coverage right
- 31:38one high and throw blitzer at us. We can't get
- 31:41by on with Cooper Cup anymore and Nicoulah because there
- 31:44are two those guys are zone. But we need a
- 31:46man beat someone who.
- 31:48Speaker 4: You say that so just to jump in that's what
- 31:50happened against the Titans last week in a very close game.
- 31:53By the way that that was at the end of
- 31:55the third quarter was a super close game, and then
- 31:58Adams ran some great rounde against Snead later in the
- 32:01game and beat them. And Snead is a really good corner.
- 32:05So you know, look, we know McVeigh is really good
- 32:10at scheme design, the way they use motion, the way
- 32:15they expand zone coverage to create voids, that's what they
- 32:18do exceptionally well. But at some point you want to
- 32:21be able to win versus man coverage. And as good
- 32:24as Nikoua is and he's really good, he's not really
- 32:27a true X kind of guy.
- 32:29Speaker 2: No, that's why they move them. That's why they reduce them.
- 32:31Speaker 4: Yeah, they don't really use him that way because that's
- 32:34not who he is. You know. It's funny we've talked
- 32:36about this is just a general statement. People think that
- 32:39players who are really good in the NFL means that
- 32:42they have no weaknesses. They're just great. So if you
- 32:44say that a guy is really good at something but
- 32:47maybe not so great at and other people think, well,
- 32:49you don't know what you're talking about, that's not true.
- 32:51You know, you talk to coaches as you guys do.
- 32:54Every player has something they're not great at, even the
- 32:57great players. And the COUPA is a great player for
- 33:01what he does. He may do as well or better
- 33:03than anybody in the league, but he's not a true
- 33:06win on the outside boundary X receiver, right. You know
- 33:10that by the way, they told you that that's what
- 33:13they signed out.
- 33:13Speaker 2: No, No, that's why they were I.
- 33:15Speaker 4: Guess that they signed Adams.
- 33:17Speaker 3: You know, Jeff and I have talked about Nikob being
- 33:19a reduced player because I know from going to their
- 33:22training camp there's a reason why they you'll see him
- 33:24kind of like out here that all of a sudden
- 33:26he creeps back inside. And we talked to d flipp
- 33:29about that about why you reduce players. It helps him
- 33:32get open, right, because you don't think they could win
- 33:34as a true.
- 33:35Speaker 2: X or an outside receiver.
- 33:36Speaker 1: Right.
- 33:37Speaker 3: Yeah, it's just great. It's great coaching. And look, I
- 33:39would also argue this, I don't think the Kobe half
- 33:42the player was with other teams.
- 33:44Speaker 2: I don't think they would not know how to use them.
- 33:45Speaker 4: Well, we don't, I understand typothetical. Well, the point being
- 33:50is he's used exactly the way to maximize what he is.
- 33:54We don't know if other teams would do that or not.
- 33:56Speaker 2: But I don't know if they would know it. But
- 33:58but that's what it's like.
- 34:00Speaker 3: Yeah, Greg, I saw Cooper Coup at the Senior ball
- 34:02in seventeen. I was like, Wow, this guy's a pretty
- 34:04good player, right, and he was phenomenal in the beginning.
- 34:07But when I went out to because I didn't understand
- 34:09what they were doing reducing him like that, they did
- 34:12it immediately when he got there, Right, you have you
- 34:15have to.
- 34:16Speaker 2: It's like when.
- 34:16Speaker 3: When it's a little bit extreme, when Chip Kelly move
- 34:19Jordan Matthews from the outside to the inside.
- 34:21Speaker 4: He knew he could have went on.
- 34:21Speaker 1: The outside, right, coach, Yeah, yeah, I.
- 34:24Speaker 4: Don't know what he is. You have to have a plan.
- 34:26Speaker 1: We always talk about this, right, Right, you take this player,
- 34:29you have to have a plan for him and try
- 34:31to execute it the best you can within the framework
- 34:34of your plan. Yeh, I may not always work.
- 34:37Speaker 4: You know, we'll see what they do. You know, they've
- 34:41been playing a lot. You know. The change that they've
- 34:44made this year too, is they play a lot more
- 34:46on a twelve personnel that for years, as you guys know,
- 34:49the Rams were one of the highest percentage eleven personnel
- 34:52teams in the league. I go back two three years,
- 34:54they were ninety percent eleven personnel. Some years they were
- 34:57over ninety percent. Now they're playing much more out of
- 35:00twelve personnel, which I don't know is a function, whether
- 35:04it's a function the fact that they like their tight
- 35:06ends or if they don't feel like they have a
- 35:07really quality third wide out that they feel really comfortable with.
- 35:11Speaker 2: What you on that? What are your thoughts on Jordan Whittington,
- 35:14who is basically their third receiver.
- 35:18Speaker 4: You know, I did not get a chance to do
- 35:20him coming out of Texas, so I've seen him in
- 35:23the NFL. You know, I think he's a fluid kid.
- 35:28I wouldn't call him an explosive kid, but he's fluid.
- 35:32So you know, they don't play him a ton, so
- 35:34you know, I don't know if they plan on using
- 35:37him more. Although he did play, actually he did last week.
- 35:41He didn't play close to forty snaps last week, but
- 35:43he hadn't played a ton you know previously. We'll see.
- 35:47I mean, look, their third wide receiver really is a
- 35:50mixture of Whittington and too too at well, really when
- 35:55you get right down to it.
- 35:56Speaker 3: Yep, oh, Jeff didn't, didn't they Was it last year?
- 36:00Chaff for another time? Because Egles have played them in
- 36:02their three and l against them under Sirianni.
- 36:05Speaker 2: Was it a drop pass by out?
- 36:06Speaker 4: Well?
- 36:06Speaker 2: Was it last year drop in the end zone? If
- 36:09I'm not Yeah, yeah, yeah he could run, man.
- 36:13Speaker 4: He can know. Its funny, I I I really I
- 36:15kind of like they haven't really played the the rookie
- 36:19ferguson the tight end from uh from Oregon. He doesn't
- 36:22play very much through two games that you know. But
- 36:25I really like Davis Allen. I did like him coming
- 36:29out of Clemson. And while he's never going to be
- 36:31talked about as if he's a top five tight end
- 36:33in the league, he's got some movement to him. He's
- 36:36a pretty good player. He can run the seam. I mean,
- 36:38he's not just like one of your classic second tight
- 36:41ends that's just like a big guy and you throw
- 36:43him out there. He's he's got some movement to him
- 36:46and some receiving ability. Yeah.
- 36:48Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, Greg. This is why I think Sean
- 36:50McVay is one of the best coaches. I mean, it's
- 36:52obvious as records is it, but you brought up a
- 36:54point that I thought it was for that fantastic. A
- 36:56lot of coaches have their they do what they do,
- 36:59and Vey has really adjusted. You talked about how he
- 37:02used to be eleven personnel heavy, twelve. They also used
- 37:05to be a heavy outside zone team.
- 37:07Speaker 4: They're not.
- 37:07Speaker 1: They're not now, and they're like they're like the Eagles.
- 37:10They run inside z. They go under center more, but
- 37:12they'll still run it inside one.
- 37:14Speaker 4: More gap scheme too, I mean, because it fits their backs.
- 37:18Speaker 1: I was just about to say they're catering. They don't
- 37:20have explosive athletes who can get to the edge, so
- 37:23run it up the middle with Kyn Williams. And I
- 37:25wanted to ask you about this. It looks like Blake
- 37:27koram to integrate, integrate more, and when I watch it,
- 37:32he's got a little more juice and a little more
- 37:34power than than Kien Williams. I would say, would you
- 37:36agree carries?
- 37:41Speaker 4: You know the other thing too is keep on taking mind,
- 37:43keep put me in mind. Williams had three hundred and
- 37:45sixteen carries last year. He's not a big man relative
- 37:49to what you think of guys who get that many carries, right,
- 37:51and you know at some point, you know. And he's
- 37:54a really good football player, by the way, and they
- 37:56did sign him and they love him. I mean, he's
- 37:57just a really good football player. You know, he catches,
- 38:00he blocks, he's a tough, physical, hard nosed runner. But
- 38:04you know, I don't know how many years he can
- 38:07capt three hundred and sixteen carries and they probably know that. Yep,
- 38:10you know, they don't want him by week eight to
- 38:12be worn out. And Quorum is a similar style back
- 38:15in the context of their offense.
- 38:17Speaker 1: Yeah, runs low to the ground and you have ive eight.
- 38:20But he's two ten and the runs I saw against
- 38:22the Titans, now, granted, I guess they were up a
- 38:24little bit so they decided to take.
- 38:25Speaker 4: Some, but he showed something.
- 38:28Speaker 1: Yeah, he can carry some guy. I mean he was
- 38:29like that at Michigan. He's not going to blow you
- 38:31away with speed.
- 38:31Speaker 4: But he's not necessarily an explosive guy. But he's kind
- 38:34of similar to Williams.
- 38:36Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, so that gives him a little bit of
- 38:38a one to two punch there. Matthew Stafford, Let's let's
- 38:41get a breakdown of what you've seen, because there were
- 38:44some people who thought he wasn't even going to start
- 38:45the year with that back the way you back up a.
- 38:48Speaker 4: Look, there's no question. You know, you can say this
- 38:50about any quarterback, but some it it has more relevance
- 38:53than others. If you can protect Matthew Stafford, he's just
- 38:58he's brilliant. Now, obviously you have to protect him. You know,
- 39:03he's not a guy that's going to make well, he's
- 39:05not immobile. He's certainly not a playmaker. But every once
- 39:07in a while he gets out of the pocket and
- 39:09makes a throw that's a while throw. But he's certainly
- 39:11not a playmaker. So you know, you have to get
- 39:16people around him. You've got to be able to pressure
- 39:18because if you I mean Tennessee last week and had
- 39:22no pass rush basically, and he just as the game
- 39:25progressed and it became more and more evident that they
- 39:27were not going to get bodies around him, he ultimately
- 39:31just sat there and made throws and as the game progressed,
- 39:34he just tore them apart. So you need to pressure
- 39:39him and make him feel uncomfortable. If he's comfortable, he
- 39:42still throws it as good as anybody in the league.
- 39:45And as you guys know, and for some reason, when
- 39:47people talk about quarterbacks, they don't mention him, but if
- 39:51you talk to coaches in the league, he may be
- 39:54the most respected quarterback in the league when you talk
- 39:56to coaches. And again I'm not saying, oh, he's the
- 40:00best team. We're not doing that. We're not, you know,
- 40:01playing that game of lists. I'm just telling you what
- 40:04coaches say. The Matthew Stafford is so incredibly respected.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Yeah. I think Adam the biggest, the most important players
- 40:10on the Eagles defense this week, and this will be
- 40:13a true test. They've played great so far. But Bond,
- 40:16Campbell and the Gene, the three guys in that second level,
- 40:19that interior where Stafford loves to be able to throw
- 40:23the ball no look thread the windows. Yeah, man, those
- 40:27guys are up for a real test this week.
- 40:29Speaker 4: You know, say that if they play zone, if they
- 40:32play zone a lot of own you're dealing with three
- 40:34guys that are underneath defenders in zone. And you know,
- 40:38Stafford obviously has no problem throwing the ball in the
- 40:41middle of the field, throwing it between zones. I mean,
- 40:43he's he's a window guy. He doesn't that That's just
- 40:46the way he sees the game, you know, and those
- 40:48guys that's a great point, Jeff. Those guys will become
- 40:51really important. It's underneath zone defenders, uh, you know against
- 40:55Stafford because you know, it's funny. There was a play
- 40:58it's in the Matchup show the week because actually Darius
- 41:01Butler did a piece on the rams oh this week
- 41:03and there was a pass to Adams that ended up
- 41:06being you know it was. It ended up being against
- 41:08Cover two. And when I saw the play myself watching
- 41:11on Monday or Tuesday, I just kept rewatching it thinking, okay,
- 41:15who can take that play away? It ended up being
- 41:17covered too, And so I asked Darius today and he said, well,
- 41:20the underneath a defender has to get a little more depth,
- 41:23he said, but that's just a weakness in the zone
- 41:27and if the quarterback has time just to be in rhythm,
- 41:29that's a tough thing to defend, right. And that's so
- 41:32it just struck me that, you know, it's all zones.
- 41:35We've talked about this so many times. All zones have voids, right,
- 41:39you know, the teams try to deal with the stress
- 41:42points that they know about, and the Eagles work very
- 41:45hard at that, I know for a fact. But you
- 41:47still can't take away every single void on every play.
- 41:51Speaker 3: You know, one thing I want to ask you, Greg
- 41:53about Matthew Staffords. Early in his career with Detroit, he
- 41:57got knocked a lot of people. He was at first pick.
- 41:59Overall it should be barony was Now he's obviously great.
- 42:02What do you recall just in general of the growth
- 42:06from him, because again, here's a guy that would frustrate coaches.
- 42:09I talked to some of them over the years, but
- 42:11then he turned out to be a star.
- 42:13Speaker 4: And if you can again, I wasn't with him. So
- 42:16you know, when you say frustrate coaches, you know, I
- 42:18don't know what they specifically mean. But I thought that
- 42:21once his first two years in the league, he was
- 42:23injured and people thought he was fragile, and he never
- 42:25play off I remember, you know, yeah, and then all
- 42:27of a sudden he never missed a game until one year.
- 42:29I guess he only played eight games he got it.
- 42:31But other than that, the guy never misses a game.
- 42:36I always thought he was really good with Detroit. I mean,
- 42:38I again, I'm not with him, so I don't know
- 42:41what what coaches are seeing that they thought maybe he
- 42:43wasn't quite what he should be, just because the talent
- 42:46level is off the charts. But I always thought even
- 42:49with Detroit, he was a really good player on a
- 42:51team on teams that weren't very good. You know. He
- 42:54he had years. He threw the ball so many times,
- 42:58you know, and that's so hard to do too much. Yeah,
- 43:01it's way too much. And you know, and now you know,
- 43:04once he got to McVeigh and obviously they won the
- 43:06super Bowl the first year and they've gotten to the playoffs.
- 43:10I mean, he's he's with a really well schemed, balanced
- 43:14type offense, and he's super intelligent. You know. It's funny.
- 43:18I had I met him once at an honors show.
- 43:22It was the super Bowl in Indianapolis. Because I remember
- 43:25that my wife was with me and she came to
- 43:27the super Bowl in Indianapolis. So I can't remember what
- 43:29year that was. But and so we actually were walking
- 43:33into the event together. And when I meet a guy
- 43:36like that, I don't want to just say, oh, you know, gee,
- 43:38I like watching you your bub Yeah, And I said, hey,
- 43:40can I ask you a question? And he goes sure,
- 43:42And I mentioned a play because I remember the play,
- 43:45you know, and he immediately told me everything about the
- 43:49play like he just did it five minutes before, you know.
- 43:54Speaker 1: And it was amazing, it.
- 43:55Speaker 4: Was you know. And and again it was a five
- 43:58minute conversation. It's not like I know Matthew and I did.
- 44:00Speaker 2: He say, Hey, listen, buddy, you're a little weird. Why
- 44:03you ask me that?
- 44:03Speaker 4: No, well, it's funny.
- 44:06Speaker 7: He did the same thing with Damis Winston when he
- 44:08was with Tampa and I met him in a Super
- 44:10Bowl event and I started talking to him and I
- 44:12mentioned a play. And you know, these guys light up
- 44:15if you mentioned a play that they talked computed perfectly.
- 44:18Speaker 4: Hey, light up. This is who they are, this is
- 44:19what they do.
- 44:20Speaker 1: Of course, all right, it's time to wrap it up

- 45:31it is time to make the predictions. You know what,
- 45:33I always either go to Greg or Adam Again, I'm
- 45:36gonna go first.
- 45:36Speaker 4: I'm doing there, all right.
- 45:38Speaker 1: I got the Eagles winning of the Eagles, by the way,
- 45:41our favorites at home, I should mention, and I believe
- 45:43last I saw it was one and a half. I
- 45:45don't know if the line is changed. Have you seen
- 45:47anything differently on that, Adam?
- 45:49Speaker 4: No?
- 45:50Speaker 1: Sure, okay, just making sure one and a half point
- 45:53favorites is the last thing I saw. I'm sorry, it's
- 45:56three and a half. My fault three and a half
- 45:57point favorites at home over and a half.
- 46:00Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, I.
- 46:01Speaker 1: Think the Eagles are gonna win and cover. I don't
- 46:03know if it's gonna be pretty. I think there will
- 46:05probably still be some questions about their offense, but I
- 46:07see Barkley having a better game and at least one
- 46:10explosive run. Eagles twenty six rams twenty and I will
- 46:15say Dallas Goddard will be MVP.
- 46:19Speaker 2: Wow, okay, you pick Adam?
- 46:22Speaker 4: All right? Well, Eagles are over Say what I'm gonna
- 46:24say because I'm I'm feeling good about this one, Jeff today.
- 46:27Speaker 3: Okay, well, I'm gonna I'll do mine. Yes, the Eagles
- 46:31are overdue for loss, but it's not gonna happen. They're
- 46:33gonna win this game twenty seven to twenty four. The
- 46:35weather's gonna be great. I didn't I thought if it
- 46:37was lower than that to spread, but I don't care
- 46:39about that at this point, my player, the game is
- 46:42gonna be Jalen Hurts, I told you earlier this week.
- 46:44People know in Patreon I said it another show.
- 46:46Speaker 2: I said it.
- 46:48Speaker 3: He's gonna feel at this game. But whatt a great
- 46:50press conference you have this week. I don't usually listen
- 46:52to him or any other player during the week. I'd
- 46:54heard Al said it in our Patreon Chad. I made
- 46:57sure I watched. He was phenomenal. That's not why I'm
- 46:59picking them, but good for him to own up to it.
- 47:01But we say this sometimes they're not right. We say
- 47:04Jones going to feel it.
- 47:05Speaker 2: Greg had one of those last year, and I got
- 47:07it right.
- 47:08Speaker 3: I'm feeling that Hurts is gonna get He's gonna feel
- 47:10and this game is not gonna two touchdowns to twenty five,
- 47:13two in the airs first two of this season.
- 47:15Speaker 1: There you go, all right, So twenty seven to twenty
- 47:17four not a cover but a win and a jail
- 47:19Hurts game, MVP, Greig, finish it off. What do we got?
- 47:22Speaker 4: All right? I'm gonna I believe the Eagles run game
- 47:25is going to get back on track this week. So
- 47:27I'm gonna pick Barkley as my player of the game.
- 47:29And I'm right there with you, and score wise, I'm
- 47:31gonna I was gonna pick twenty seven to twenty three Eagles,
- 47:34So that's good, you know, I think it's going to
- 47:36be a close game. I mean, I think the Rams
- 47:38could easily win the game, but I just think that
- 47:41this is the week that that Barkley is going to
- 47:44break out. I'm a little concerned just about the size
- 47:46difference with it all line and I you know, I
- 47:49just that's that's how I see this game.
- 47:51Speaker 1: Good, all right, and that is going to do it.
- 47:55That is a great wrap up, thorough x's and no's, scalpel,
- 47:58four steps and all that. That's gonna do it. For
- 48:01the Inside the Birds pregame show for Greg Cosell and
- 48:04Adam Kaplan, I'm Jeff Mosher. Everybody, enjoy your football watching.
- 48:08Catcha on the next one.
