- Lucas: Ciao, Luna! Ready for another episode of Learn Italian with Fexingo? Luna: Ciao, Lucas! I am so ready. Last time we had a picnic at the park, and I loved those phrases. Can we go back? Lucas: Absolutely! The park is a perfect setting for practicing Italian. Today we'll learn a few more phrases that are super useful for a picnic. Luna: Oh, good. Because I'm hungry already. Let's start! Lucas: First up: if you want to ask for a sandwich, you say 'Posso avere un panino?' That means 'Can I have a sandwich?' Let's break it down: 'Posso' is 'can I', 'avere' is 'have', 'un panino' is 'a sandwich'. Repeat after me: Posso avere un panino? Luna: Posso avere un panino? Lucas: Perfect! Now, if you want to offer something to eat to a friend, you say 'Vuoi qualcosa da mangiare?' That's 'Do you want something to eat?' 'Vuoi' is 'you want', 'qualcosa' is 'something', 'da mangiare' is 'to eat'. Try it: Vuoi qualcosa da mangiare? Luna: Vuoi qualcosa da mangiare? That's fun to say! Lucas: It is! And when you taste something delicious, you can say 'È buonissimo!' which means 'It's very good!' or 'It's delicious!' 'Buonissimo' is the superlative of 'buono'. Say it with me: È buonissimo! Luna: È buonissimo! Oh, I can imagine saying that while eating a panino. Yeah. Lucas: Exactly. Now, don't forget the blanket! 'Prendiamo una coperta' means 'Let's take a blanket.' 'Prendiamo' is 'let's take', 'una coperta' is 'a blanket'. Your turn: Prendiamo una coperta. Luna: Prendiamo una coperta. Right, you need a blanket for a picnic. Lucas: And finally, comment on the weather: 'Che bella giornata!' means 'What a beautiful day!' 'Che' is 'what', 'bella' is 'beautiful', 'giornata' is 'day'. Try it: Che bella giornata! Luna: Che bella giornata! I love that one. It's so cheerful. Lucas: Let's do a quick scene. Imagine we're at the park. I spread out the blanket and say: Prendiamo una coperta. Che bella giornata! Luna: Then I say: Sì! Posso avere un panino? And you offer: Vuoi qualcosa da mangiare? Lucas: Esatto! And after the first bite, you say: È buonissimo! Luna: Perfetto! That feels like real Italian. Lucas: It is! Now, you know, if you're enjoying these episodes, and if Fexingo has been helping you make progress with Italian, you can support us. The smallest thing helps keep the show ad-free.
