- 0:03Speaker 1: Wake up
- 0:05Speaker 1: Up next
- 0:07Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonia
- 0:10Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit. Good
- 0:12Speaker 1: morning
- 0:12Speaker 2: and just like that, I am officially back.
- 0:15Speaker 1: She's back and she's here.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Yes, all my Phuket adventures, it was a work trip,
- 0:21Speaker 2: but I'll fill you in more in just a little while. Yes,
- 0:23Speaker 1: who do you mean?
- 0:23Speaker 2: Anyone special? Yes, I landed quite late last night, so
- 0:26Speaker 2: still
- 0:26Speaker 1: sleepy. Singapore's
- 0:27Speaker 1: number one hit music station.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Uh, too much to get into what's going on with
- 0:34Speaker 2: chaperone right now. Yeah, hide your 11 year olds. I mean, look,
- 0:38Speaker 2: if you're following the story, you're following the story. But wow,
- 0:41Speaker 2: on TikTok, it is ruthless against Chaperone. Yeah, so if
- 0:45Speaker 2: you are curious, you know, go take a look and
- 0:48Speaker 2: see what's new with her.
- 0:49Speaker 2: I just want to clarify something, OK. Let's go. Um, I,
- 0:52Speaker 2: I sound pretty nasal this morning and Joakim is a
- 0:55Speaker 2: little croaky, and we, uh, we blame the haze, OK.
- 0:59Speaker 2: So I, the first thing, you know, that happened when
- 1:01Speaker 2: I landed last night, which I'll fill you in more
- 1:04Speaker 2: about the trip later on, my flight got delayed also
- 1:06Speaker 2: coming back, by the way, um, by, by almost an hour. Um,
- 1:10Speaker 2: my nose has been popping off, and you know that
- 1:12Speaker 2: I've sort of open inverted commas, mostly solved my sinus issues, right?
- 1:18Speaker 2: Um, nasal rinsing every day and all that. Thankfully didn't
- 1:20Speaker 2: need to go, um, for, for surgery, which is still
- 1:23Speaker 2: an option if I wanted to, but I find it unnecessary. Um,
- 1:28Speaker 2: apparently the haze has been quite happening recently. What happened
- 1:34Speaker 2: over the past two days I was away. The last
- 1:36Speaker 2: two days you were gone, the burning smell and the
- 1:41Speaker 2: smoke smell.
- 1:42Speaker 2: It's as if Singapore had a very bad barbecue has intensified, right?
- 1:46Speaker 2: And we're feeling the remnants of it right now. You
- 1:48Speaker 2: know what, um, the, I, I just had like a
- 1:51Speaker 2: sneezing fit to which Joakim is always very amused by it. Um,
- 1:55Speaker 2: but in Phuket when I was there for just 2 days,
- 1:57Speaker 2: the air was really nice. I mean, I don't think
- 2:00Speaker 2: that affected at all just because geographically, right?
- 2:02Speaker 2: But for Singapore, we are, yeah, I'm definitely smelling it
- 2:05Speaker 2: apparently from the hotspots in Johor. I mean, if you're
- 2:08Speaker 2: in Phuket, yes, because the wind blowing upwards towards the Thailand.
- 2:15Speaker 2: So nice and clear there and uh you know, nice
- 2:18Speaker 2: beautiful clear beaches to the water.
- 2:20Speaker 2: It was crystal clear, very refreshing. So my Grab driver
- 2:26Speaker 2: this morning was actually wearing a mask, and I was like, Hey, uncle,
- 2:29Speaker 2: because it's quite regular, right? Ah yeah, you can smell it.
- 2:31Speaker 2: I say, Yeah, that's why I wear a mask. Oh, he's,
- 2:33Speaker 2: maybe he's sensitive to it or something. So today my
- 2:36Speaker 2: voice is a combination of hosting an event last night,
- 2:40Speaker 2: not enough rest, and then this morning, the moment I
- 2:43Speaker 2: stepped out of my home, you could smell it. Yeah, 100%, man.
- 2:46Speaker 2: So it's like I'm walking along the alleyways of Tanjung Paga.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Joakim and I are both running on extremely little sleep
- 2:52Speaker 2: and both of us have nose and throat problems. OK lah.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Thank God the weekend's here. Hi. Hi, morning. What's your name? Han.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Niao Han. Am I saying it right? Yes. Nice to
- 3:05Speaker 2: meet you, Niao Han on the phone. What school are
- 3:07Speaker 2: you from? School. Oh, you're the cutest. How old are
- 3:12Speaker 2: you this year?
- 3:12Speaker 2: which means you are primary 2. Why do you think
- 3:16Speaker 2: Joakim and I should come down to Marymount Primary? I
- 3:18Speaker 2: don't think we've been there before. Because my school is
- 3:22Speaker 2: very big and it's a Catholic school. Uh-huh, and both
- 3:26Speaker 2: of us are Catholic.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Yes, we are, by the way. Yes, we are. So
- 3:31Speaker 2: when is a good time for us to come down? Anytime. Anytime.
- 3:35Speaker 2: All right, we'll we'll hope to see you very, very soon.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Wake up.
- 3:40Speaker 1: next to you.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonia
- 3:44Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit. Well,
- 3:46Speaker 2: as you know it, $5000 could be yours this hour.
- 3:50Speaker 2: And also some updates coming your way with regard to
- 3:53Speaker 2: the Harry Potter series coming
- 3:55Speaker 1: on HBO
- 3:55Speaker 2: Max very soon. Unfortunately, it's not good news, Sonia. All
- 4:00Speaker 2: the details coming up next.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Singapore's
- 4:02Speaker 1: number one hit music station.
- 4:06Speaker 2: You heard it here first on the shock circuit. I'm
- 4:09Speaker 2: gonna make 4 picks, Sonia. For what? for next year's
- 4:13Speaker 2: Grammy Awards nominations. Firstly, the album, The Romantic by Bruno Mars.
- 4:18Speaker 2: It's short and sweet. I like it. It's a shoo-in.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Lux by Rosalia, a shoo-in. The Mountain by The Guerrillas,
- 4:26Speaker 2: gonna be in there as well. But would it be
- 4:28Speaker 2: the same category though? It could fall on the Album
- 4:31Speaker 2: of the Year. And today, Ray's album. Oh, I'm so
- 4:36Speaker 2: excited for that one. This music might give you.
- 4:39Speaker 2: it's going to be out Singapore time, maybe 12 or
- 4:41Speaker 2: 1 p.m. This is her moment, man. I'm so proud
- 4:44Speaker 2: of her. Yeah, you know what, the album's not even
- 4:46Speaker 2: out yet, but I know it's going to be a
- 4:47Speaker 2: massive banger already. You know, she has spent a long
- 4:50Speaker 2: time being like the featuring artist for a lot of big,
- 4:53Speaker 2: bigger artists, right. So I'm so glad this is her moment. OK,
- 4:57Speaker 2: we go from music, excuse me for a while.
- 5:01Speaker 2: It's OK. It is really like my nose has been
- 5:05Speaker 2: popping off nonstop. OK, we go from music to series, OK,
- 5:08Speaker 2: and the Harry Potter movies. Yeah, yeah. For us millennials,
- 5:13Speaker 2: we are very used to Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grin, Hermione Granger,
- 5:18Speaker 2: the late, Hermione Granger, Emma Watson, there you go, um,
- 5:22Speaker 2: the late Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith. We are, we are
- 5:24Speaker 2: used to them as the
- 5:26Speaker 2: We love the characters from the books. It's because they've
- 5:29Speaker 2: acted through every single film that features, you know, that
- 5:32Speaker 2: was adapted from all the books. So when HBO announced that, hey,
- 5:36Speaker 2: we're gonna be doing a series, so it's like a
- 5:39Speaker 2: season 1, season 2, season 3 thing, people were like, huh,
- 5:43Speaker 2: do we really need it? And then when they announced
- 5:45Speaker 2: the cast list.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Unfortunately, there will always be comparisons. Who, who's playing Harry
- 5:51Speaker 2: Potter for this one? It's an 11 year old boy, it's,
- 5:54Speaker 2: it's a new. Yeah, I, I don't know his name
- 5:56Speaker 2: per se, but it's an entirely new cast, of course,
- 5:59Speaker 2: and the one casting that's gotten plenty of eyebrows raised
- 6:03Speaker 2: was the casting of Professor Snake. So, um, I'm gonna
- 6:07Speaker 2: be very factual here. In the book, it doesn't state
- 6:10Speaker 2: what ethnicity Professor Snape is.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Yeah, which was one of my first questions to you. Yeah.
- 6:16Speaker 2: So in the movie, of course, it's played by the
- 6:18Speaker 2: late Aaron Rickman, who did such a fantastic job, and
- 6:20Speaker 2: only him and JK Rowling knew the ending of Snake
- 6:24Speaker 2: before it was released to the entire world. But for
- 6:26Speaker 2: the Harry Potter series, it's played by African actor Papa Esido.
- 6:32Speaker 2: He's an English-born actor, but of course of African descent,
- 6:34Speaker 2: and I mean, I'm, I'm only gonna use this phrase once. He's, he's,
- 6:38Speaker 2: he's a black actor.
- 6:39Speaker 2: OK, done. But people online are sending him death threats.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Why is that? Why is it his fault? Quit or
- 6:48Speaker 2: I'll murder you or come to your house and murder you.
- 6:50Speaker 2: What is going on? A big, big, and it's a racist,
- 6:53Speaker 2: it's a racial thing. Yeah, that's very racist. Yeah. Sofortunately
- 6:57Speaker 2: for him, he's taken it in his stride saying that look,
- 7:00Speaker 2: all these death threats, yes, I take them seriously, but
- 7:03Speaker 2: it fuels me, it motivates me to make this character.
- 7:06Speaker 2: OK, good, good. You know, I'm proud of him for
- 7:09Speaker 2: saying that. Yeah, because like we said, I think the
- 7:12Speaker 2: problem is people are creatures of habit. OK. We, when
- 7:15Speaker 2: you read Harry Potter or any book of that matter, right?
- 7:19Speaker 2: Don't you feel like you will start forming an impression
- 7:22Speaker 2: or idea of how the character looks like? OK, so
- 7:25Speaker 2: when the movies came out, do you think the cast
- 7:27Speaker 2: lived up to your imagination? I think it did. I
- 7:31Speaker 2: think it did.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Yeah, unfortunately for our entire lives, people have attached that
- 7:37Speaker 2: character to the actor already. It's very hard to shake.
- 7:40Speaker 2: So this is just, you know, when they're trying to
- 7:42Speaker 2: cast a new set of people, you're definitely going to
- 7:46Speaker 2: get clowns like that coming at the actors. So if
- 7:48Speaker 2: you're wondering when is the first episode going to be released,
- 7:51Speaker 2: Christmas of this year, 25th of December over on HBO Max. Oh,
- 7:56Speaker 2: that makes me want to like have a sip of
- 7:57Speaker 2: butterbeer or something.
- 7:59Speaker 2: At the market, butter beer, is it? OK. You know,
- 8:02Speaker 2: they have it at some of the theme parks, right,
- 8:04Speaker 2: but it's not actual beer. I mean, it just tastes,
- 8:06Speaker 2: it's supposed to taste like what you imagine it to
- 8:08Speaker 2: be like butter beer. I tried it over at the
- 8:10Speaker 2: Warner Brothers movie studio to West Ham. It was actually
- 8:14Speaker 2: very good. Yeah, I like it. Joakim here with you.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Thank you so much for joining us here today.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Um, so I just wanted to give you a little
- 8:21Speaker 2: update about my past two days before we move on
- 8:23Speaker 2: to $5000. Was it hotter in Phuket because you were there?
- 8:27Speaker 2: It was, you know, like, hey, thank you. But literally,
- 8:31Speaker 2: it was several degrees hotter than Singapore. Oh, I'm not
- 8:34Speaker 2: even kidding.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Um, it was 36 °C on average. So I'm guessing
- 8:39Speaker 2: it was very humid, very humid, very hot. Even the
- 8:42Speaker 2: locals themselves said like this feels like a heat wave
- 8:44Speaker 2: or something. lah, sorry. But like, you know what, I
- 8:49Speaker 2: don't think it was just me. Um, some of the most,
- 8:52Speaker 2: the biggest, the hottest, uh, celebrities and personalities from around
- 8:56Speaker 2: the region, you know, and other parts of, of the world,
- 8:59Speaker 2: they were there, mostly Southeast Asia, of course, but
- 9:02Speaker 2: Um, just want to give a big shout out to
- 9:03Speaker 2: all the wonderful girls that I met over the past
- 9:06Speaker 2: few days because, you know, usually when it comes to
- 9:08Speaker 2: work like this, right, it's a rare opportunity to link
- 9:11Speaker 2: up with so many people from different countries. So yeah,
- 9:13Speaker 2: I just want to say, you know, especially to the
- 9:15Speaker 2: Indonesian team, um, Korea, Japan, like, despite some
- 9:20Speaker 2: Of the language barriers because um the Japanese, the Japanese twins,
- 9:25Speaker 2: these girls, they can't really speak English, but they're still
- 9:27Speaker 2: super sweet like they tried their best, you know, to communicate.
- 9:30Speaker 2: I don't know why I can envision you just bowing
- 9:32Speaker 2: to them. Yeah, yeah, we both just smiling and laughing
- 9:34Speaker 2: at each other like he he he.
- 9:40Speaker 2: No, but their, uh, their manager, their management was there. She,
- 9:44Speaker 2: she has fluent, she speaks fluent English. So she was
- 9:47Speaker 2: like translating at dinner because we were seated next to
- 9:50Speaker 2: Japanese tea. It was the cutest thing, um, but it was,
- 9:52Speaker 2: it was great because some of these girls are really big, right,
- 9:55Speaker 2: in their own country and also their own in, in
- 9:57Speaker 2: the region. So when I finally see them in person
- 10:01Speaker 2: after following them for some time on social, it was,
- 10:04Speaker 2: it was quite cool to, to see that and
- 10:06Speaker 2: Especially to the indoor team, like we became besties. SG
- 10:10Speaker 2: and Indo, yay.
- 10:12Speaker 2: And Malaysia, of course, I already know the Malaysian girls.
- 10:14Speaker 2: I guess for your wedding Indome sponsor it, don't don't.
- 10:17Speaker 2: I wanted to do I. I don't think there's going
- 10:22Speaker 2: to be a sponsorship. No wonder you and Indonesian team
- 10:25Speaker 2: became good friends, la, you know that's your opportunity. That's
- 10:28Speaker 2: not gonna help me at all, man. That ain't gonna help.
- 10:30Speaker 2: But you name some of them, you know, to the
- 10:32Speaker 2: I people happening. But yeah, it was, uh, it was great,
- 10:35Speaker 2: and thanks for holding the fort for two days.
- 10:38Speaker 2: I am extremely exhausted though, not just from the heat,
- 10:41Speaker 2: but no, no, look, coming back really late last night.
- 10:43Speaker 2: These kind of work trips, yeah, the, the good kind
- 10:47Speaker 2: of personalities that you follow here in Singapore, they are
- 10:50Speaker 2: working nonstop. They are doing content, they are planning, they
- 10:53Speaker 2: are making sure their skin looks good as compared to, oh,
- 10:56Speaker 2: it's a holiday. No, it's not a work. It's really
- 10:58Speaker 2: not a holiday. It's not. It's like us on the
- 11:00Speaker 2: Disney adventure, work nonstop.
- 11:05Speaker 2: But also sometimes we take it upon ourselves. I mean, look, I, I,
- 11:07Speaker 2: you know, when you're assigned to go for a work trip,
- 11:09Speaker 2: you still do it anyway, right? I think the impression
- 11:11Speaker 2: that people generally get is like, wow, good life, ah,
- 11:14Speaker 2: good life. The only downtime I had was 10 p.m. Yeah,
- 11:18Speaker 2: when we're in our room, same. So you know what
- 11:20Speaker 2: the funny thing was, because there's a one hour difference
- 11:23Speaker 2: in Phuket, right.
- 11:25Speaker 2: So the first day, immediately after the show on Tuesday,
- 11:28Speaker 2: I flew off. Um, the first day, uh, when I
- 11:31Speaker 2: got there, I was already knocked out on the plane.
- 11:33Speaker 2: When we got there, oh, there's a welcome, welcome drinks
- 11:35Speaker 2: and welcome dinner and everything, right, where people are nonstop
- 11:38Speaker 2: like taking content. Midway through the dinner, or not even midway,
- 11:41Speaker 2: I think maybe through the second appetizer, I was fading, bro.
- 11:47Speaker 2: I was fading, you know, after like a glass of wine,
- 11:49Speaker 2: I was like checking my watch, you know, it was
- 11:51Speaker 2: 9:00 p.m. Phuket time, which means it's already 10:00 Singapore time,
- 11:54Speaker 2: my bedtime. I mean, if you were fading at the
- 11:57Speaker 2: second appetizer, that means I would have faded the moment
- 12:00Speaker 2: we got to the hotel. Yeah, the moment, yeah, you
- 12:01Speaker 2: would have faded out. You might not even have shown
- 12:03Speaker 2: up to the. No, I will, but you thank the
- 12:07Speaker 2: combo for me, OK? You go and talk to me,
- 12:08Speaker 2: as per usual. Um, big love to our friends.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Friends at Long Shomp for making this possible and hopefully
- 12:13Speaker 2: more chances and maybe more opportunities to involve our listeners
- 12:17Speaker 2: in the future as well, take me with you. Um,
- 12:19Speaker 2: so I just wanted to give you a little update
- 12:21Speaker 2: about my past two days before we move on to $5000.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Was it hotter in Phuket because you were there? It,
- 12:27Speaker 2: it was, you know, like, hey, thank you, but literally,
- 12:31Speaker 2: it was several degrees hotter than Singapore. Oh, I'm not
- 12:34Speaker 2: even kidding.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Um, it was 36 °C on average. So I'm guessing
- 12:39Speaker 2: it was very humid, very humid, very hot. Even the
- 12:42Speaker 2: locals themselves said like this feels like a heat wave
- 12:45Speaker 2: or something. lah, sorry. But like, you know what, I
- 12:49Speaker 2: don't think it was just me. Um, some of the most,
- 12:52Speaker 2: the biggest, the hottest, uh, celebrities and personalities from around
- 12:57Speaker 2: the region, you know, and other parts of, of the world,
- 12:59Speaker 2: they were there, mostly Southeast Asia, of course, but
- 13:02Speaker 2: Um, just want to give a big shout out to
- 13:04Speaker 2: all the wonderful girls that I met over the past
- 13:06Speaker 2: few days because, you know, usually when it comes to

- 13:15Speaker 2: Indonesian team, um, Korea, Japan, like, despite some
- 13:20Speaker 2: Of the language barriers because um the Japanese, the Japanese twins,
- 13:25Speaker 2: these girls, they can't really speak English, but they're still
- 13:27Speaker 2: super sweet like they tried their best, you know, to communicate.
- 13:30Speaker 2: I don't know why I can envision you just bowing
- 13:32Speaker 2: to them. Yeah, yeah, we both just smiling and laughing
- 13:35Speaker 2: at each other like he he he.
- 13:40Speaker 2: No, but their, uh, their manager, their management was there. She,
- 13:44Speaker 2: she has fluent, she speaks fluent English. So she was
- 13:47Speaker 2: like translating at dinner because we were seated next to

- 13:53Speaker 2: it was great because some of these girls are really big, right,
- 13:55Speaker 2: in their own country and also their own in, in
- 13:58Speaker 2: the region. So when I finally see them in person
- 14:02Speaker 2: after following them for some time on social, it was,

- 14:38Speaker 2: I am extremely exhausted though, not just from the heat,

- 15:52Speaker 2: 9:00 p.m. Phuket time, which means it's already 10:00 Singapore time,
- 15:55Speaker 2: my bedtime. I mean, if you were fading at the
- 15:57Speaker 2: second appetizer, that means I would have faded the moment
- 16:00Speaker 2: we got to the hotel. Yeah, the moment, yeah, you
- 16:02Speaker 2: would have faded out. You might not even have shown
- 16:04Speaker 2: up to the. No, I will, but you thank the
- 16:07Speaker 2: combo for me, OK? You go and talk to me,
- 16:09Speaker 2: as per usual. Um, big love to our friends at
- 16:11Speaker 2: Longhomp for making this possible and.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Hopefully more chances and maybe more opportunities to involve our
- 16:17Speaker 2: listeners in the future as well. Take me with you
- 16:20Speaker 2: you in my bag very beautiful. OK, so while I
- 16:22Speaker 2: was away, I did not realize that this happened and
- 16:25Speaker 2: of course Joakim already addressed it, but I am not
- 16:28Speaker 2: OK with this piece of news. I want to hear
- 16:30Speaker 2: your take on this because I do order from this
- 16:34Speaker 2: particular machine quite often. You, you and I both. I do.
- 16:37Speaker 2: And the fact is that there's one here in Media Corp.
- 16:41Speaker 2: There's one at my condo. There's one, you know, around
- 16:44Speaker 2: public parks or, or, uh, park connectors sometimes. The one
- 16:48Speaker 2: over at Stadium MRT. You always buy from there, is it?
- 16:51Speaker 2: I go to that one a lot. Yeah. Um, there's
- 16:53Speaker 2: one at Robertson Quay. So sometimes I walk over there,
- 16:55Speaker 2: you know, I'm thirsty, I get it from there. Oh wait,
- 16:57Speaker 2: so even with all the renovations, it's still there. The
- 17:00Speaker 2: renovations are not affecting.
- 17:02Speaker 2: It doesn't affect uh the whole Robertson. Yeah, it's only
- 17:06Speaker 2: one particular portion which is like Fraser Residences area. No,
- 17:11Speaker 2: but Kampay reopened somewhere else, as in the, the moment
- 17:15Speaker 2: they were told, I guess that there's going to be
- 17:17Speaker 2: massive renovations, they already shifted. Beautiful. So it's not far away.
- 17:21Speaker 2: It's just opposite at Mohammad Sultan. So if you.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. So if you're curious, you know, just go
- 17:26Speaker 2: do a quick search. All your favorite restaurants from that
- 17:29Speaker 2: Fraser's area in Robertson Key have relocated. Anyway, um, we're
- 17:33Speaker 2: talking about the i juice machine. Big shout out. You know,
- 17:36Speaker 2: I love this machine because I love fresh juice and
- 17:40Speaker 2: the fact that, you know, um, you're able to get
- 17:42Speaker 2: it for just like what, $2 or something.
- 17:45Speaker 2: At these vending machines. It's a brilliant idea. And trust me,
- 17:48Speaker 2: after a long stadiums. Exactly, and sometimes you just want
- 17:54Speaker 2: to get two, right? You can't just have one.
- 17:57Speaker 2: So, um, imagine my surprise this morning when I saw
- 17:59Speaker 2: the news that I missed over the past two days,
- 18:01Speaker 2: very eventful past two days of this dude that was
- 18:05Speaker 2: licking the eye juice straw and then putting it back
- 18:08Speaker 2: into the dispenser. It's horrific. Like I saw the video
- 18:12Speaker 2: and I was so disgusted. I don't know if I
- 18:14Speaker 2: can ever like bring myself to use a straw again.
- 18:16Speaker 2: This is why I don't trust.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Certain straws and utensils that are left out there, you know.
- 18:23Speaker 2: I think that's the straw. Yeah. That's why I'm curious
- 18:32Speaker 2: how investigations are ongoing like we said we're not sure
- 18:36Speaker 2: like when this was taken, when was this video taken,
- 18:39Speaker 2: for example, like it wasn't revealed, right?
- 18:41Speaker 2: Um, and I think this is also the reason why
- 18:43Speaker 2: some dispensing, not all dispensers have straws, but certain places
- 18:48Speaker 2: where you buy drinks from, they actually have it wrapped
- 18:50Speaker 2: in a paper. So I think the latest in the
- 18:53Speaker 2: news now is they've identified that this person is. Well, um,
- 18:58Speaker 2: I think he was wearing, it was quite obvious, right?
- 19:00Speaker 2: Was it?
- 19:01Speaker 2: I don't know whether he was wearing like someone sent
- 19:04Speaker 2: the video to the school's HR or discipline master or mistress. Yeah, anyway, um,
- 19:12Speaker 2: a very serious view on this because obviously you don't
- 19:13Speaker 2: know how many times this has been done, right? Yeah,
- 19:16Speaker 2: it's quite concerning our friends over, we love you. We do,
- 19:20Speaker 2: we do, and we're not, maybe I will stop taking
- 19:23Speaker 2: the straw, but I won't stop buying the juice.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Then what are you gonna poke the lid with? Just
- 19:29Speaker 2: peel the lid. Just peel the lid open and drink
- 19:31Speaker 2: it straight. Yeah, I don't know. Now I'm a bit
- 19:34Speaker 2: paranoid about the, but like you said, you know, the
- 19:36Speaker 2: unlocking system. I get it. So knowing you, please make
- 19:39Speaker 2: sure you peel slowly. Don't go fast and then spill
- 19:42Speaker 2: the whole drink on yourself. Why do you feel, why
- 19:45Speaker 2: do you say it like it's happened to me before?
- 19:47Speaker 2: I mean, it has.
- 19:50Speaker 1: 87
- 19:51Speaker 1: secret.
- 19:56Speaker 1: That.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Hi,
- 19:58Speaker 1: my name is Pamela. Pamela, you sound really stunned.
- 20:02Speaker 2: Where are you right now?
- 20:03Speaker 1: Oh, I'm at home.
- 20:05Speaker 2: Did you expect to get through the phone lines?
- 20:06Speaker 1: No, I did not.
- 20:08Speaker 1: I've been calling for
- 20:08Speaker 1: the past few days. Yeah.
- 20:09Speaker 2: So Pamela, let's make this opportunity count. Hopefully you win $5000.
- 20:15Speaker 2: What are you gonna do with the $50 if you
- 20:16Speaker 2: really win today? Oh, I'm gonna take my family on
- 20:18Speaker 1: holiday.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Sweet. Love that for you. OK, we're rooting for you, Pamela.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Listen very carefully.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Pamela,
- 20:26Speaker 1: for 5000
- 20:28Speaker 2: dollars, what is the 987's secret sound?
- 20:31Speaker 1: It's light switch. Light switch
- 20:33Speaker 2: is your final answer.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Yes.
- 20:35Speaker 2: Let's find out.
- 20:37Speaker 1: You are
- 20:38Speaker 1: incorrect. Your chance to play 987's secret sound continues.
- 20:45Speaker 1: that
- 20:48Speaker 2: Unfortunately not the answer we're looking for, but according to
- 20:51Speaker 2: boss
- 20:52Speaker 1: Janice,
- 20:52Speaker 2: her reply was, no, no, no.
- 20:56Speaker 2: But did we get that answer before? I'm not sure actually. We,
- 20:59Speaker 2: we might have might have, but not as popular as
- 21:02Speaker 2: the Fantastic 40, which is what Joakim said earlier. Exactly
- 21:05Speaker 2: are the answers. But hey, Pamela, the good news is
- 21:08Speaker 2: your name is immediately going into the big grand draw.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Not all is lost.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Congratulations. Yeah, and we were really truly rooting for you.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Please try again soon, OK?
- 21:17Speaker 1: Yeah, thank you.
- 21:20Speaker 1: One guess
- 21:21Speaker 1: win.
- 21:24Speaker 1: What's that sound?
- 21:27Speaker 1: Wake up.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Up next to
- 21:30Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonia
- 21:33Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit. Well,
- 21:35Speaker 2: this is your
- 21:36Speaker 2: final shot at a beautiful treat thanks to our friends
- 21:39Speaker 2: over at Novotel Singapore. It's Steven's Sunday brunch at Food
- 21:44Speaker 2: Exchange for two worth over $240. Phone lines will be
- 21:47Speaker 2: open over at 669-119-87.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Singapore's
- 21:51Speaker 1: number one hit music station.
- 21:55Speaker 2: When I walked into the studio this morning, Joakim looked
- 21:58Speaker 2: at me and he goes, your ankle OK or not? Yeah,
- 22:01Speaker 2: I mean, you're walking fine. I'm walking fine. A lot
- 22:04Speaker 2: better than when you saw me on Monday, actually, a
- 22:07Speaker 2: lot better in the Catholic Bible, the miracle of Sonia. No, it's,
- 22:10Speaker 2: it's still slightly swollen and there's some bruising now around
- 22:14Speaker 2: the ankle area, but very, very mild. So I'm very
- 22:17Speaker 2: grateful that it was probably something not so serious. So
- 22:20Speaker 2: when you're completely cleared, yeah, will you go back to
- 22:22Speaker 2: playing paddle? Yes, actually I texted the chat. I said.
- 22:25Speaker 2: I'm OK guys. They were like, they were like, please don't, don't,
- 22:28Speaker 2: don't come this weekend, please give it one more week. Yeah, yeah. So, um, well,
- 22:32Speaker 2: I am just, you know, sort of massaging and flexing
- 22:35Speaker 2: it now just to make sure that the mobility is back.
- 22:38Speaker 2: And the funny thing was when I was in Phuket, the,
- 22:40Speaker 2: the villa that we're staying at, it was fully steps,
- 22:43Speaker 2: like there was, there was no lift or escalator, elevator, nothing.
- 22:48Speaker 2: So I had to walk up and down, walk in
- 22:49Speaker 2: the sand. Yeah. Were you in Phuket or the UK? Yeah, exactly.
- 22:53Speaker 2: We also have a lot of stairs.
- 22:55Speaker 2: So, um, I'm very grateful that it was not too bad,
- 22:57Speaker 2: but also have to give credit where credit's due. Um,
- 23:01Speaker 2: on the very day on Monday when we spoke about
- 23:04Speaker 2: it and you had a good laugh and we opened
- 23:05Speaker 2: up phone lines as well, right? You're still laughing, yes.
- 23:08Speaker 2: I think you'll never get that image of me with
- 23:10Speaker 2: the ice pack on.
- 23:10Speaker 2: The chair here in the studio of your head and
- 23:13Speaker 2: I've seen. You have seen things, yeah. So, uh, my,
- 23:17Speaker 2: my parents immediately like when they heard about it on air,
- 23:20Speaker 2: which was what I was afraid of, that's why I
- 23:22Speaker 2: kept telling Joakim, don't, don't dwell on it anymore. But
- 23:24Speaker 2: of course, Joakim being Joakim.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Has to just rub it in lah. No, and, and
- 23:29Speaker 2: I said this, I would not be surprised if your
- 23:31Speaker 2: mom or dad actually leaves you like a care package
- 23:34Speaker 2: at home. They did. So I posted on IGS that
- 23:36Speaker 2: got quite a lot of response from it because on
- 23:40Speaker 2: Monday when I revealed it on air, of course, firstly, scolded,
- 23:44Speaker 2: got nagged at, right? Of course, why you do this? But,
- 23:47Speaker 2: but of course, you know, Asian parents, they give you that.
- 23:50Speaker 2: Tough love kind of thing, right? They, they, they do
- 23:52Speaker 2: love you. And at the end of the day, my
- 23:54Speaker 2: dad actually left the care pack at my house with
- 23:56Speaker 2: like the, you know, the ankle wrap, um, there was, uh,
- 24:00Speaker 2: also like the pain cream, the pain relief gel, and
- 24:04Speaker 2: like the ankle guard and stuff. So I did use
- 24:06Speaker 2: it on my trip, especially because I was going to
- 24:08Speaker 2: be going to the airport. You have to walk around
- 24:09Speaker 2: quite a lot and all that, so I brought the ankle.
- 24:11Speaker 2: I wore the ankle guard, right, and
- 24:14Speaker 2: Um, I got so many responses from like just random
- 24:17Speaker 2: followers saying this is so typical of Asian parents. They
- 24:21Speaker 2: will nag at you, but they still love you and
- 24:23Speaker 2: they still bring you the things that will help you
- 24:25Speaker 2: at the end of the day. Hey, your dad, I mean,
- 24:27Speaker 2: of course your mom as well, but your dad really.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Loves you lah. I mean, I would not forget at
- 24:32Speaker 2: his 70th birthday, right, um, I think after a few
- 24:35Speaker 2: drinks in a bit happy already, like half a bottle
- 24:38Speaker 2: of whiskey, bro. Your dad all of a sudden points
- 24:41Speaker 2: at me, choke him, and then he hugs you. I'm
- 24:43Speaker 2: very proud of this daughter.
- 24:45Speaker 2: The best daughter. I was like, Aiyo uncle. Oh God, yeah.
- 24:50Speaker 2: That's the whiskey. Um, yeah, he's probably tuning in. He
- 24:57Speaker 2: meant it. He meant it for sure. 669-11987. We would
- 25:00Speaker 2: love to open up the phone lines. Now we are,
- 25:02Speaker 2: we are grown-ups right now, right? You would say, I mean,
- 25:05Speaker 2: are we in our parents' eyes? Are we? Mentally, maybe not.
- 25:11Speaker 2: But in our parents' eyes, right, we will never be adults,
- 25:14Speaker 2: you know, they will always still treat us as their
- 25:16Speaker 2: babies at the end of the day. You are still
- 25:17Speaker 2: 4 year old girl. I'm still in my mushroom haircut. Exactly. So, um,
- 25:23Speaker 2: I think that was the consensus a lot of my
- 25:25Speaker 2: followers and our followers had as well when they saw that,
- 25:27Speaker 2: you know, on, on socials. Um, to which you want
- 25:29Speaker 2: to open up phone lines, 669-11987 or drop us a
- 25:33Speaker 2: message 90050987. Do you agree that no matter how old
- 25:38Speaker 2: you are,
- 25:40Speaker 2: Tell us, does your, do your parents still treat you
- 25:44Speaker 2: like a kid? Do they still nag at you like
- 25:47Speaker 2: you're a kid? Do they still care for you like
- 25:49Speaker 2: you're a kid? We would love to know because I
- 25:51Speaker 2: know friends who like married and have kids already, but
- 25:54Speaker 2: their parents still treat them like kids.
- 25:57Speaker 2: Yeah, my mom, your mom, yeah, that's for sure. We're
- 26:00Speaker 2: going to share more, um, you know, I was asked
- 26:02Speaker 2: about an update about my injured ankle when I came
- 26:05Speaker 2: back and I, I said, you know what, it's heaps
- 26:07Speaker 2: better now. Also, all thanks to um the care package
- 26:10Speaker 2: my parents left me at my house. But of course,
- 26:13Speaker 2: it came with a side of nagging.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Just a little bit. What do you mean? The nagging
- 26:19Speaker 2: was the main dish. But you know what, no matter
- 26:22Speaker 2: how much our parents nag at us, at the end
- 26:25Speaker 2: of the day, they love us and they will still
- 26:27Speaker 2: treat us like kids no matter what age we are, right?
- 26:30Speaker 2: So we wanted to hit to phone lines, 669-11987 and
- 26:34Speaker 2: our WhatsApp messages as well. Do you also feel like
- 26:37Speaker 2: no matter what age you are, your parents will always
- 26:39Speaker 2: We still treat you like a kid. I want to
- 26:41Speaker 2: say good morning to somebody who calls herself Auntie Jay
- 26:45Speaker 2: on WhatsApp. Morning, Sojo. I'm a mother of 3. I
- 26:49Speaker 2: think I'll baby my kids forever, even until they are
- 26:52Speaker 2: 50 years old if I'm still around. I'll make sure
- 26:55Speaker 2: to kiss them loudly and insist we give each other
- 26:58Speaker 2: bear hugs whenever we meet. You know, my mom, every
- 27:02Speaker 2: time she knows in the mornings I'm in a rush
- 27:03Speaker 2: to leave her, they leave the.
- 27:04Speaker 2: house, right, she always go, Hey, where's my hug? I
- 27:08Speaker 2: have to come back in to hug her. Then I
- 27:10Speaker 2: have to go. So it's like a family rule, is
- 27:12Speaker 2: it like a household rule? I know I complain about
- 27:15Speaker 2: it now, but actually sometimes on the Grab taxi or
- 27:17Speaker 2: the ride here I'll be like, Ah yeah, yeah, it's sweet.
- 27:19Speaker 2: hug my mom this morning, so happy. No, honestly, like
- 27:22Speaker 2: I think these moments should be treasured, right? You cannot
- 27:24Speaker 2: show it. 00, you cannot take advantage. Oh, then why
- 27:28Speaker 2: you talk about it on air.
- 27:30Speaker 2: But the people that know us best would be our
- 27:32Speaker 2: parents who will never stop treating us like children, no
- 27:36Speaker 2: matter how old we are. Uh, we got stories coming through,
- 27:39Speaker 2: so that's the question for you today. Let's head to
- 27:41Speaker 2: WhatsApp first. I want to say hello to Jacqueline. Hi
- 27:44Speaker 2: dear Joakim and Sonia. Even though I'm already married with
- 27:47Speaker 2: two boys, my parents still will call me every day
- 27:50Speaker 2: and check up on me, asking me whether have I
- 27:52Speaker 2: eaten or not, had I taken a shower, instruct me
- 27:56Speaker 2: to eat on time.
- 27:57Speaker 2: And they will call me every morning to wake me up. Oh,
- 28:00Speaker 2: that's so cute. And even though I'm on holiday, she
- 28:03Speaker 2: will call me to ask you whether did I sleep properly,
- 28:07Speaker 2: enough money to spend or not. So if you say no,
- 28:09Speaker 2: will they give you money? I'm just curious. Can you
- 28:16Speaker 2: say no? No, OK. Yeah, they start nagging. Open another
- 28:18Speaker 2: can of worms for yourself. Actually, you know what, I
- 28:20Speaker 2: realized there's really no winning when it comes to Asian parents.
- 28:23Speaker 2: I mean, look.
- 28:25Speaker 2: We, we are their spawn. You know what, look, the
- 28:28Speaker 2: funny thing is when I, when my parents found out
- 28:31Speaker 2: that I had a sprained ankle, you know what one
- 28:34Speaker 2: of the first things they said, See, I told you
- 28:36Speaker 2: don't do extreme sports.
- 28:40Speaker 2: Mama and Papa. Uh, paddle isn't really an extreme sport. When, Joe,
- 28:46Speaker 2: you know me, when have I ever done extreme sports?
- 28:49Speaker 2: Tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me. OK, aside
- 28:51Speaker 2: from the time where like I went and did bungee
- 28:53Speaker 2: and didn't tell them and they only found out after.
- 28:55Speaker 2: I mean, I will give you a gold medal in panics.
- 28:59Speaker 2: Jeremy will agree it's an extreme sport for you. He did,
- 29:02Speaker 2: he did the movement of the mouth needs to be studied. Hey,
- 29:04Speaker 2: stop it. Don't be rude, OK.
- 29:06Speaker 2: You, what is this laugh at Sonia the whole week,
- 29:09Speaker 2: is it?
- 29:11Speaker 2: So happy for the years you roast me on air.
- 29:13Speaker 2: Let me have a week. I see so. Hardy is
- 29:17Speaker 2: on the line right now. What about you? Yeah, let's
- 29:20Speaker 2: say if I come back home late or whatever timing
- 29:23Speaker 2: like 2 a.m., 3 a.m., my mother will be awake
- 29:26Speaker 2: to scold me.
- 29:28Speaker 2: Scold you for real or affectionately? You see, this is,
- 29:33Speaker 2: this is the thing, right? Like, you know, I, I
- 29:35Speaker 2: remember in the past, um, I will always try and
- 29:37Speaker 2: be sneaky about coming back, be quiet and all that,
- 29:39Speaker 2: but they always know, you know, or maybe just the sneak.
- 29:44Speaker 2: is also true. Yeah, but thank you, Hadi for your call.
- 29:46Speaker 2: You have a great day, OK. Alright. Bye. Wanna say
- 29:50Speaker 2: good morning to Soup. Soup, you say, hey, Sojo, my
- 29:54Speaker 2: dad is the more concerned one in this case.
- 29:57Speaker 2: He tells me how much rice to eat as if
- 30:00Speaker 2: I don't know how much rice to eat. I ended
- 30:02Speaker 2: up finishing the quantity I took very fast, and he
- 30:04Speaker 2: had no words. He tells me to dress properly, and
- 30:07Speaker 2: I'm like, I want to try new styles inspired by
- 30:10Speaker 2: my friends and some celebrities, but nope, protective dad. I
- 30:14Speaker 2: love him and always appreciate him. Yeah, well, we know
- 30:18Speaker 2: this at the end of the day, right? They, they,
- 30:19Speaker 2: they mean well. Sometimes it just comes across differently. Yeah,
- 30:23Speaker 2: I got one very sweet one coming in.
- 30:26Speaker 2: Username Yolo. Morning guys. I'm in my 50s and my
- 30:30Speaker 2: mom just celebrated her big 80. She still makes breakfast
- 30:35Speaker 2: of bread and peanut butter with strawberry jam, and even
- 30:38Speaker 2: now when I live a few streets away from her,
- 30:41Speaker 2: she will take the effort to make my breakfast and
- 30:43Speaker 2: walk over to my place, making sure I don't miss eating.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Mom loves knows no boundaries. It really doesn't. And you know,
- 30:52Speaker 2: I think in a way it also is good for
- 30:54Speaker 2: her because
- 30:55Speaker 2: The morning exercise, um, you know, she just, I, I
- 30:57Speaker 2: think as we age, right, as our parents age, as
- 31:00Speaker 2: I'm observing, they just want to have purpose, you know,
- 31:02Speaker 2: they want to do something. That's why sometimes, even though,
- 31:05Speaker 2: like I tell my parents, OK, don't trouble yourself, don't
- 31:08Speaker 2: do this for me. You guys are like, you know,
- 31:10Speaker 2: you should just rest and chill. They're like, no, lah,
- 31:12Speaker 2: give us something to do, you know. So I, I
- 31:14Speaker 2: think this is a universal thing. It's OK, Papa, Mama,
- 31:17Speaker 2: you can care for me also. I welcome. You live
- 31:20Speaker 2: too far away from them. I'm the other chew.
- 31:25Speaker 2: Because we resemble each other so much siblings. Jocelyn is
- 31:31Speaker 2: on the line. Jocelyn, what about you? What do you think? Yes, um,
- 31:34Speaker 2: I mean, I'm 35 this year and I have two kids,
- 31:38Speaker 2: but my mother still treats me like I'm still 10
- 31:40Speaker 2: years old.
- 31:42Speaker 2: Don't worry, Jocelyn. I'm I'm 38 this year, still single.
- 31:45Speaker 2: My mom she treats me like I'm 8 or 70
- 31:47Speaker 2: my gosh, OK, Justin, do you have any examples? Well, 20,
- 31:51Speaker 2: like even for my daily, like, like every day she
- 31:53Speaker 2: asks me, have you eaten? Like, I'm already 35. I know.
- 31:57Speaker 2: I know when I'm hungry, when I'm not.
- 32:00Speaker 2: I think it's just sometimes it's their way of just
- 32:02Speaker 2: like they want to be involved in your your daily life, right? Yeah,
- 32:05Speaker 2: I'm still in primary school. So do you still get
- 32:09Speaker 2: nagged at or like does your mom still like bring
- 32:11Speaker 2: you food or put in your house, you know, that
- 32:13Speaker 2: kind of thing or help you with your laundry? Oh yes,
- 32:16Speaker 2: every single day I get nagged. Yeah.
- 32:20Speaker 2: What does she usually say or do? The food, food
- 32:23Speaker 2: first of all, and then what else? How I drive.
- 32:28Speaker 2: She nags at you about how you drive. Oh my God, Jocelyn,
- 32:31Speaker 2: I'm gonna ask you this, given how you're a mom
- 32:32Speaker 2: of two boys, right, when they become 35, do you
- 32:35Speaker 2: think you'll be the kind of mom as well? I
- 32:37Speaker 2: don't think so. Uh, like I, I feel that when
- 32:40Speaker 2: they are 21, I'll just let them go. OK, we'll, we'll,
- 32:44Speaker 2: we'll check in again when they become 2. OK, you
- 32:48Speaker 2: know a few years. Yeah, yeah, you never know, you
- 32:49Speaker 2: never know. Thank you so much for your call. Thank you. Thank.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Time for us to award.
- 32:56Speaker 2: Someone with our final experience thanks to Novotel over at Stevens,
- 33:00Speaker 2: and here's what you can expect at their Sunday brunch.
- 33:03Speaker 2: I mean, look, when we say makan, we, we really
- 33:07Speaker 2: mean it because we're talking freshly shucked oysters, prawns, lobsters.
- 33:12Speaker 2: They got live cooking stations for you as well, and
- 33:15Speaker 2: a complimentary bottle of Prosecco for every 2 adults. So
- 33:18Speaker 2: I'm there. Let's go. Let's go. This luxurious seafood buffet
- 33:22Speaker 2: is really going to treat you and.
- 33:24Speaker 2: The perfect family brunch awaits you with a very relaxing
- 33:26Speaker 2: vibe over there, you know. So I think even if
- 33:28Speaker 2: you have kids and you want to like just let
- 33:30Speaker 2: them entertain themselves for a while, they've got like bouncy
- 33:32Speaker 2: balloon houses, coloring, balloon sculpting, face painting, so much while
- 33:36Speaker 2: you enjoy your prosecco. And next Sunday they have the
- 33:39Speaker 2: very special Easter edition of their Sunday brunch where kids,
- 33:44Speaker 2: and I think Sonia was an expert at this game,
- 33:47Speaker 2: playing Easter egg hunts and egg painting competitions. I like
- 33:50Speaker 2: painting eggs. That was.
- 33:53Speaker 2: I enjoyed painting eggs for Easter. Never ever say that
- 33:56Speaker 2: phrase again for Easter. What's wrong? Anyway, you know what?
- 34:00Speaker 2: What have Easter eggs got to do with Easter anyway?
- 34:03Speaker 2: They've done nothing. It has nothing got to do with
- 34:04Speaker 2: actual Easter. Just FYI, yeah, FYI. If you're curious, go
- 34:08Speaker 2: read up about it. But for more information, visit Novotel
- 34:10Speaker 2: Stevens on Instagram. Today's prize goes to Joly.
- 34:15Speaker 2: Congratulations. You really thoroughly entertained us with your stories, but
- 34:18Speaker 2: we just want to say thank you to each and
- 34:20Speaker 2: every one of you because it's so relatable. Like the
- 34:23Speaker 2: fact that no matter how old we are, we'll still
- 34:27Speaker 2: be treated as kids by our parents at the end
- 34:29Speaker 2: of the day. Again, there has to be a podcast
- 34:32Speaker 2: with just your mom and my mom. Oh, this one
- 34:35Speaker 2: is a three-part series. This needs to happen, and I'll
- 34:38Speaker 2: make it happen sometime. Do we really want it to happen, Joe? Yes,
- 34:41Speaker 2: we do, honestly, just for fun.
- 34:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I, I'm concerned. And can you, are you paying
- 34:47Speaker 2: us to do this? Yeah, OK. That's a no. They'll
- 34:51Speaker 2: be very angry with us. Some small Hollywood tea here, OK. Um,
- 34:56Speaker 2: not exactly about her directly, but, uh, there was a
- 35:00Speaker 2: recent big events overseas where several stars were invited and
- 35:06Speaker 2: I think she was one of them as well.
- 35:08Speaker 2: And unfortunately, um, there were people online that were quite
- 35:12Speaker 2: unhappy that apparently, Priyanka Chopra was being snubbed a little
- 35:17Speaker 2: bit by some of the other Hollywood stars. Now I'm not,
- 35:19Speaker 2: I'm not going to say which event was this was
- 35:22Speaker 2: or which brand, um, or which celebrities. Dua Lipa was
- 35:25Speaker 2: one of them. I don't think she was snubbing Priyanka.
- 35:27Speaker 2: It was more of like one of those photo moments
- 35:30Speaker 2: where they're like, OK, photo call, right? Then all the
- 35:32Speaker 2: big celebrities are in one photo together.
- 35:34Speaker 2: And apparently no one was really like responding to Priyanka.
- 35:37Speaker 2: I don't know. I wasn't there, so I don't know,
- 35:39Speaker 2: but why is this news? Because it's Hollywood.
- 35:44Speaker 2: It's the stars, guys, it's a, it's a dog eat
- 35:46Speaker 2: dog industry here, OK? And you know what, people might
- 35:49Speaker 2: have come up with their own narrative just by looking
- 35:52Speaker 2: at a video that they weren't there for, you know.
- 35:54Speaker 2: I mean, if it's a photo call, you better do
- 35:56Speaker 2: what you can to get in there, smile and then
- 35:58Speaker 2: go back to socializing. When we come back though, Sonia,
- 36:02Speaker 2: I'm so happy finally here on our show. We have
- 36:04Speaker 2: a sport that both of us can discuss together curling.
- 36:13Speaker 2: Sorry, remember we tried curling before it was a big fail. Yeah, OK,
- 36:18Speaker 2: I was leaning towards Formula 10 sorry. OK la, curling.
- 36:23Speaker 1: Wake up.
- 36:24Speaker 1: Good next.
- 36:26Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonia
- 36:29Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit.
- 36:31Speaker 1: Welcome on back to the show.
- 36:33Speaker 2: Coming up in just a bit, you know it, your
- 36:35Speaker 2: final chance to walk away with a $100 shopping experience
- 36:38Speaker 2: thanks to Quartz. And also your Formula One updates for
- 36:41Speaker 2: the Japanese Grand Prix happening in less than 2 hours. Sonia.
- 36:45Speaker 2: Hamilton at a dojo.
- 36:46Speaker 1: Singapore's number one hit music station.
- 36:51Speaker 2: So finally, a sport where both of us can talk about.
- 36:55Speaker 2: I was just joking when I said curling, by the way.
- 36:57Speaker 2: We have like hilarious memories of that. Formula One, by
- 37:00Speaker 2: the way, it's the Japanese Grand Prix this weekend. I
- 37:02Speaker 2: think the action for practice one starts at 10:30 p.m.
- 37:05Speaker 2: 10:30 a.m. our time. But before, you know, they got
- 37:08Speaker 2: to the tracks, a lot of your favorite drivers have
- 37:10Speaker 2: been engaging in a lot of activities, you know, in Japan, um,
- 37:14Speaker 2: Charles Leclerc, Lewis Hamilton, like they're all seen doing different things.
- 37:17Speaker 2: I think Charles Leclerc did a full shoot, like a
- 37:19Speaker 2: full-on shoot.
- 37:20Speaker 2: Louis was at a dojo that apparently I think he's
- 37:23Speaker 2: quite familiar with. So I'm gonna say this, the cars
- 37:26Speaker 2: might look a little bit different this weekend. I think
- 37:29Speaker 2: some teams have Godzilla inspired designs, special designs looking very nice,
- 37:33Speaker 2: but I wanna ask a Mercedes.
- 37:38Speaker 2: Japanese Grand Prix uniform. Like, why is it? Can I,
- 37:41Speaker 2: can I, can I ask you? I saw this. I
- 37:43Speaker 2: saw this. It looks like they were trying to bake
- 37:45Speaker 2: a cake and all the powder ended up on their suit.
- 37:48Speaker 2: I don't know. I mean, look, every, everyone will have
- 37:51Speaker 2: an opinion, la. OK, Sonia, this is OK. I'm, I'm
- 37:55Speaker 2: zooming into George Russell right now, but the bro looks
- 37:59Speaker 2: so happy. He's smiling in the picture.
- 38:03Speaker 2: Hey man, whatever it is, whichever brand was behind it,
- 38:05Speaker 2: they must have been paid quite a bit to wear
- 38:07Speaker 2: this design. So anyway, when it comes to the winner
- 38:11Speaker 2: for the Japanese Grand Prix, who's your pick? I'm hoping Ferrari.
- 38:15Speaker 2: I mean, they're, they're slowly climbing up the ranks. They're
- 38:17Speaker 2: having a good year. So I'm not saying that I'm
- 38:19Speaker 2: biased because, you know, I do support them and they
- 38:21Speaker 2: do work with Puma, but
- 38:23Speaker 2: I'm really hoping something good comes out of this. So
- 38:25Speaker 2: it's either you're happy. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Why? Who are
- 38:28Speaker 2: you rooting for? Um, I mean, you've been rooting for
- 38:31Speaker 2: a particular team recently. I mean, Cadillac just beat the
- 38:34Speaker 2: Aston Martin of Happy.
- 38:37Speaker 2: It's a, it's a, it's a process. Yeah. So, you know,
- 38:41Speaker 2: trust in the process. If I had to pick a
- 38:42Speaker 2: winner though, Mercedes, is it? I'm gonna go with Hamilton. Hamilton, OK,
- 38:46Speaker 2: I'll pick Hamilton. Yeah, we've got a $100 voucher thanks
- 38:49Speaker 2: to Courts just for you. I'm going to read you
- 38:52Speaker 2: two statements when you call us over at 669-119-87. 1
- 38:56Speaker 2: statement is pertaining to maybe me and Sonia. The other one,
- 39:00Speaker 2: of course, to our friends at Courts. Yeah, so once again.
- 39:02Speaker 2: And um, all you have to do is tell us
- 39:04Speaker 2: whether it's over the top or not. Over the top
- 39:06Speaker 2: meaning it's a good thing. OK? All you got to do,
- 39:08Speaker 2: call us right now at 669-11987. We just want to
- 39:12Speaker 2: take your shopping over the top with unbeatable deals at courts.
- 39:16Speaker 2: Hey guys, it's Brian here. Hello, Good morning, Brian. How
- 39:19Speaker 2: are you today? Morning. I'm good, I'm good. Any plans
- 39:22Speaker 2: for the weekend? Um, yeah, probably heading out with the family. Brian,
- 39:25Speaker 2: would you say you're an over the top person?
- 39:29Speaker 2: I like to think that, OK, which is a good thing. Now,
- 39:32Speaker 2: what's gonna happen, as you already know if you've been
- 39:34Speaker 2: tuning in the whole week, Joe Kim will have two
- 39:36Speaker 2: statements for you. You have to tell us whether it's
- 39:38Speaker 2: over the top or not. You get it right, you're
- 39:40Speaker 2: walking away with the final $100 voucher thanks to Quartz.
- 39:44Speaker 2: You ready for that? Yeah, let's go. Here we go. Alright, Brian,
- 39:47Speaker 2: pertaining to me and Sonia. Sonia laughs extra loud at
- 39:51Speaker 2: my jokes on air, even when it's not that funny.
- 39:55Speaker 2: Is she being over the top or not? Yes, she is.
- 40:00Speaker 2: I will still laugh at your jokes. Don't worry. I
- 40:02Speaker 2: don't want to ask why, OK. Moving on to the
- 40:05Speaker 2: statement pertaining to courts. You want to buy a new
- 40:08Speaker 2: sofa now, but your partner says, hey, wait for Wednesday, lah.
- 40:13Speaker 2: Maybe got star by or better deals. So the house
- 40:16Speaker 2: uses camping chairs for two weeks. Is this over the
- 40:20Speaker 2: top or not? Oh, for sure, man. Well, yeah, because
- 40:22Speaker 2: you got to wait for Wednesday. That's the best deal. Congratulations,
- 40:26Speaker 2: you are today's winner.
- 40:27Speaker 2: Beautiful. That is definitely a selling point over here. Their
- 40:33Speaker 2: Star by Wednesdays are curated just for you. Things that
- 40:35Speaker 2: you might need. You can enjoy up to 70% off,
- 40:38Speaker 2: and I believe that you've got a little over a
- 40:40Speaker 2: week left from now to the 7th of April to
- 40:43Speaker 2: shop away. But to confirm one thing, Sonia, my joke's funny, right?
- 40:48Speaker 2: Yes, yes, very funny. Both of you, you're only saying
- 40:52Speaker 2: that because you just won the vouchers, right. If you
- 40:56Speaker 2: are a musical theater fan, I have a question for you.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Do you hear the people sing, singing the song of Angry?
- 41:04Speaker 2: Big shout out to Nat Ong. Can I just say
- 41:09Speaker 2: for the people who were over at the premiere, right,
- 41:12Speaker 2: I saw plenty of Singaporeans that I follow who are saying.
- 41:15Speaker 2: How their hearts just swelled with pride when they saw
- 41:19Speaker 2: Nathaniel Ong on stage. And by the way, I also
- 41:22Speaker 2: agree that Lea Salonga is the prettiest casting for Madame Faria,
- 41:27Speaker 2: so she never left Singapore, right? She never since the
- 41:30Speaker 2: Disney adventure event. So I believe she had a concert
- 41:32Speaker 2: to do. Yeah, and then now she's just starring in
- 41:35Speaker 2: the arena special. Now love it. A couple of people
- 41:38Speaker 2: were live.
- 41:38Speaker 2: A little bit confused as to the staging of this
- 41:42Speaker 2: version of Les Miserables. It is not the play per se.
- 41:46Speaker 2: It's an arena spectacular where the singers as their characters
- 41:51Speaker 2: will step forward and sing into the microphone to the crowd.
- 41:55Speaker 2: So there's an entire choir, orchestra and all that, but
- 41:58Speaker 2: it's not being performed, it's being sung. It's the same thing,
- 42:01Speaker 2: the story.
- 42:02Speaker 2: The music, everything is the same, just that the way
- 42:05Speaker 2: it stays delivered, yeah, it's different. So do people, I mean,
- 42:09Speaker 2: I'm sure that some people may not read up about
- 42:12Speaker 2: it before going. So some were a little bit confusing. Hey,
- 42:14Speaker 2: how come they're coming forward and not acting? No, this
- 42:18Speaker 2: is a different like a, you wouldn't call it like
- 42:21Speaker 2: a musical per se or. It's the songs.
- 42:25Speaker 2: The characters themselves singing it in their, in their voices, right?
- 42:29Speaker 2: But in terms of the way it's staged, it's not
- 42:31Speaker 2: like a moving play. I'm, I'm interested to know if
- 42:34Speaker 2: there's a difference in pricing when it comes to that. Ah, well, OK,
- 42:37Speaker 2: we can log on and check it out, but still,
- 42:39Speaker 2: you know what? Something to look forward to and definitely
- 42:42Speaker 2: something you have to watch. Yeah, so I believe I'm
- 42:45Speaker 2: just looking at the dates right now. It's running till.
- 42:50Speaker 2: Here we go. Oh, very OK. So you've got more
- 42:53Speaker 2: than enough time to book your tickets. Yeah, so April
- 42:55Speaker 2: looks quite available so far. March limited dates available for March.
- 42:59Speaker 2: Love it. Very, very proud of everyone there. Thank you
- 43:02Speaker 2: so much for joining us here this morning and uh
- 43:05Speaker 2: what do you have on over the weekend?
- 43:06Speaker 2: I'm preparing for my run. OK, yes, because I think
- 43:10Speaker 2: 2x2 happens on Sunday, this coming Sunday next Sunday and
- 43:13Speaker 2: high rocks as well. But I want to share this
- 43:15Speaker 2: piece of news with you here on 987. Next week
- 43:18Speaker 2: for the whole week on our show, you can win
- 43:20Speaker 2: concert tickets to Leve.
- 43:23Speaker 2: Gosh, I would love that. A big thank you to
- 43:26Speaker 2: our friends over at UOB for coming on board with
- 43:28Speaker 2: these tickets. Amazing. UOB is really like killing it as well, right,
- 43:31Speaker 2: with these experiences. That and also we've got that Disney
- 43:35Speaker 2: adventure merch coming your way too. Oh, plenty of stuff
- 43:39Speaker 2: on the show next week.
