- 0:03What's up everybody welcome to another episode
- 0:05of fanatically speaking I'm Kent the co -host
- 0:07and promoter. I am log off the log off legend
- 0:10the hater of social media I'm the co -host and
- 0:12producer of the show. Thank you for tuning into
- 0:14another episode of fanatically speaking We're
- 0:17actually going to change the format just a little
- 0:18bit this show What we're going to do is we're
- 0:21going to go into the real versions of football
- 0:24teams We've got a list of teams that have been
- 0:29bipolar in a lot of ways where you don't can't
- 0:32tell whether or not they're good or you're going
- 0:36to say to say the least to say the least like
- 0:38week to week and uh you know week 10 just happened
- 0:40and and we're still thinking about these teams
- 0:43some have uh you know hot new stories some it's
- 0:47just their play in general Like you said, week
- 0:50to week, we don't know what we get. Yeah, no
- 0:52idea whatsoever. So we're going to put that to
- 0:54the test this show and we're going to try to
- 0:57find out who are the real versions of these teams.
- 1:00We're going to go ahead and start with the New
- 1:02York football Giants. New York football Giants,
- 1:06please stand up. And we saw what happened with
- 1:09them this past week, but the big story coming
- 1:12out of the Giants locker room is they fired their
- 1:14coach. They got rid of their head coach. And
- 1:18this was the gentleman that you called out earlier
- 1:21this year. And I believe I'll put this in a group
- 1:25chat that you wanted his head on a stick earlier
- 1:28this year. You were like, yeah, this guy's horrible.
- 1:30This guy's terrible. Let's go ahead and get him
- 1:32out of there. When you saw the news, what was
- 1:34the first thing that crossed your mind? I wasn't
- 1:36surprised. Brian Dayball getting fired this season
- 1:40alone. Blown four, four leads. That they had
- 1:47the game won a couple of double -digit three
- 1:49double -digit. They were leading by double digits
- 1:51and blew the game and and to me Even though Jackson
- 1:56dart rookie quarterback has shown a lot of potential
- 1:59and promise Scatterboot of course got hurt They've
- 2:03got some weapons there on offense neighbors got
- 2:05hurt too. So it's not so much the offense They've
- 2:08been able to do that, which is what Dave all
- 2:09does but that defense is pretty good So for them
- 2:13to be blowing leads like this It is going to
- 2:16come back to coaching. So yeah, not surprised
- 2:19after this past week as well, blowing another
- 2:21game and just having a horrible record too. I
- 2:24mean, going from that first season where he was
- 2:26coaching a year, nine wins, they win a playoff
- 2:28game. And then since then, it's just been a gradual
- 2:31decline. Yeah, gradual decline. And that's, that's
- 2:35fair. I've, I actually liked the Giants chances
- 2:38this season. But first out of the, and I'm, you
- 2:41know me, man, I've never been a big Russell Wilson
- 2:43fan. It's not for football reasons though. I
- 2:46just think he's you know lame corny, but he's
- 2:50corny, but he Russell Wilson was playing well.
- 2:55I Thought he was playing well struggling out
- 2:58of the box in the first game versus Washington
- 3:01But he had that big game against Dallas, you
- 3:04know where they lost in overtime. He put up 450
- 3:06yards Okay, then he had one bad game after that,
- 3:11you know where against Kansas City I mean, go
- 3:14figure. And then it's like, oh, OK, let's go
- 3:16ahead and get Jackson Dart in there and get him
- 3:18some reps. So they were been up and down all
- 3:21year in that regard. Like you said, we've seen
- 3:23some flashes with Jackson Dart. I do think he's
- 3:26got a future. I don't know how, you know, how
- 3:28I think he could be a nice middle of the road
- 3:30quarterback that could be a starter in this league.
- 3:33But I mean, I think from coaching staff, offense,
- 3:38defense and special teams just as a whole. They
- 3:41weren't going to be a playoff team no matter
- 3:43what and I know we look at The division the NFC
- 3:49East it's it's what I tell everyone every year
- 3:52You know if you talk about the Eagles you talk
- 3:54about the Giants talk about the Giants It doesn't
- 3:57matter or the commanders they beat each other
- 4:00up all season every season But always happens
- 4:04is one team, you know rises to the top and ends
- 4:07up winning the division lately. It's been the
- 4:09Eagles but This is a competitive division, which
- 4:14I mean, and I don't want to sound too biased,
- 4:17but I think it's I think it's one of the better
- 4:19divisions in all of football in the NFC. And
- 4:22it's because those teams know each other so well
- 4:25and they're always competitive. And no matter
- 4:27how bad they are, you're always going to get
- 4:29a team's best shot. But the Giants are done like
- 4:33their season is over. And I think right now they're
- 4:36just pretty much trying. I don't want to say
- 4:37tank. It's hard to tank in football. But I think
- 4:40they're going to try to just sit the rest of
- 4:41this out and, you know, just kind of ride the
- 4:44wave into the end of the year. Try not to get
- 4:46any star players hurt. You know, cut some guys,
- 4:49sign some guys, get another head coach and then
- 4:51just try again next year. Yeah. And when we talk
- 4:54about the Giants and we say with the real New
- 4:57York Giants, please stand up. Here's kind of
- 5:00what I thought about was you go back some years,
- 5:04right? They hired day ball. They got them at
- 5:07the time. Daniel Jones, Saquon Barkley. They
- 5:09decide not to keep Saquon. Not that they blame
- 5:14Saquon, but they say, OK, we don't want to pay
- 5:17you, but we also don't want this and that. And
- 5:20ultimately he goes to Philadelphia and thrives
- 5:22and wins the Super Bowl. Then they blame Daniel
- 5:25Jones, even after giving him a huge contract.
- 5:28Ship him out, right? Get him out of there. So
- 5:31now, Dayball has really nothing and the Giants.
- 5:35So you see this, right? Saquon, Daniel Jones.
- 5:40Then they get Jackson dart right eventually so
- 5:43they started with Russell Wilson like you said
- 5:45But it was only a matter of time soon as that
- 5:47I told people I told a Giants fan I said As soon
- 5:51as it starts going south they're going to Jackson
- 5:53dart why because Dave all's got to do whatever
- 5:55he can to save his job which which goes in that
- 5:58conversation of wise dart out there running why
- 6:00is he getting concussions or You know check for
- 6:04concussions Dayball is coaching for his job.
- 6:07Anytime you make that switch, he's trying to
- 6:10save the season. They did bring energy. Dart
- 6:13brought energy. Scatterboo brought energy. They
- 6:16beat the Eagles. So they had something going.
- 6:20And again, that defensive line is unbelievable.
- 6:23So again, them blowing these games, all that.
- 6:26Joe Shane still has a job, somehow. And he's
- 6:30the one making the decisions about Saquon, Daniel
- 6:32Jones, other things. Again, I like a lot of the
- 6:35players they have, and they're kind of in that
- 6:37injured, like I said, injuries hit them hard
- 6:39with neighbors and Scadaboo, and now Dart. But
- 6:43again, it's like, will the real giants stand
- 6:45up? Like, who do you blame next? And it's going
- 6:49in the order that you blame, right? The first
- 6:51day, they couldn't make up their mind on quarterback,
- 6:52running back. Then they kept the coach. They
- 6:55got the rookie in there. Now the coach is gone.
- 6:58So will they fire, uh, you know, Joe Shane, the
- 7:01GM at the end of the year? We shall see. Uh,
- 7:05but these are, but we want to know like, what,
- 7:08what is your plan? Because again, you put all
- 7:11your, your eggs into Daniel Jones basket and
- 7:13now that's over. Now you got Jackson Dart. They
- 7:15got a good, they got, they got good, uh, they
- 7:17got good pieces, good young pieces to build a
- 7:21winner selfishly. I don't want to see that, but
- 7:24then like you said, do they just kind of tank
- 7:28because the biggest thing I would say is they
- 7:31got a pretty good defense. Obviously picking
- 7:33a coach is going to be important, but you know,
- 7:36they got a draft, like get, get that offensive
- 7:38line straight. You got that. You got your, who
- 7:40you think is your quarterback, get the offensive
- 7:43line, protect your quarterback, get healthy.
- 7:46And I think they can get it right, but it will
- 7:49depend on who they hire as a head coach. And
- 7:51I agree with that. And I'm just going to, to
- 7:54kind of bring the point home of the real version
- 7:58of the Giants and whether or not they're going
- 8:00to stand up or stay on their back where they
- 8:03are right now. They haven't had stability in
- 8:06that franchise since Tom Coughlin. So let's just
- 8:08put that out there. Here are their coaches and
- 8:11their successors since Tom Coughlin. Tom Coughlin
- 8:14to Ben McAdoo, to Steve Spagnolo, to Pat Shermer,
- 8:19to Joe Judge, and then Brian Dable. And then
- 8:22they just got him out. So in the last decade,
- 8:25that's their coaching carousel that they've had.
- 8:28Like you said, you've mentioned all the players
- 8:29that they've had and that they let go and, you
- 8:32know, they brought some guys. It just, it's never
- 8:34worked out in the past 10 years. It's been unstable.
- 8:38And, um, out of all those coaches that were there,
- 8:42like their records are horrible. It's just one
- 8:46of those things where out of all those coaches
- 8:48that I named, none of them have a winning record.
- 8:51So it. I have no idea who they're gonna go try
- 8:55to get. I mean, it's the Giants. The names that
- 8:59they had post Tom Coughlin, I was never impressed
- 9:02by anyway. And maybe that's just them trying
- 9:04something new. I feel like they need to go out
- 9:06and try to get a winner. And just in my opinion,
- 9:10what I think they should do is try to go find
- 9:12a good, young, up and coming coach in the college
- 9:16ranks that they can bring in. I've got some names,
- 9:19but I think that's what that franchise needs.
- 9:22They need a new energy, man. They just kept,
- 9:24they just, I feel like they were doing the same
- 9:26old thing over and over again and it hadn't been
- 9:28working for them. You got nothing to lose. You
- 9:30might as well go ahead and try to do something
- 9:32different. Oh yeah. Go, uh, break the bank. Yeah.
- 9:38Break the bank. Yeah. Just go get some, go get
- 9:40a new young guy. It's super easy, man. There's
- 9:42plenty of them out there. Make a splash. Splash.
- 9:47All right. So, so next team we would like to
- 9:50we like for the real Green Bay Packers. Would
- 9:53they please stand up? Please stand up. Please
- 9:57stand up. So Packers played the Eagles. You know,
- 10:03wasn't that game in Lambo? It was at Lambo. It
- 10:06was at Lambo. Okay. Cold game. It was an ugly
- 10:08game. All right. It was an ugly game. Although
- 10:12I will say I was entertained by it just because
- 10:15every it felt like every It felt like every snap
- 10:18had the potential to be a big play because you
- 10:20knew it was a game that was lacking those plays.
- 10:23Um, we'll get into the big plays that the Eagles
- 10:25made later. I'm not going to gloss over that,
- 10:28but the Packers up and down year, man. Um, I
- 10:31picked them to be my team to come out of the
- 10:33NFC and boy have they let me down. I, I wanted,
- 10:39I thought this would be where love, you know,
- 10:41as their, as their franchise quarterback gets
- 10:44over the hump. Showed that he can go and win
- 10:46close games games like the one that they played
- 10:49Against the Eagles they don't have it. It's you
- 10:53know, they made the Michael Parsons trade So
- 10:55they bring him in their defenses stout, you know
- 10:57for you to be able to hold the Eagles to ten
- 10:59points That's a win. You can stop all those guys
- 11:02and and especially at home and a big game with
- 11:05all the eyes on it It's a win for them As a success
- 11:09of what they did even though they didn't actually
- 11:11come with a win in the win column But from the
- 11:14game, what are your thoughts on it Eagles Packers
- 11:18with a game the season? Look at their look at
- 11:21the time likes it they get they went got Micah
- 11:24Parsons. They went out and got him right and
- 11:28That was supposed to be the difference maker
- 11:30This is gonna put Green Bay over the top over
- 11:32the edge makes them the favorite heavy favorite
- 11:35even though right The Eagles are the top team,
- 11:40so they go. They this season though they have
- 11:43lost to the Browns. They tied with the Cowboys.
- 11:48And now they've lost to the Panthers. And then
- 11:52on a back to back week they lose to the Eagles
- 11:54at Lambeau. No shame in losing to Philadelphia,
- 11:56even at Lambeau. But this was a big game. This
- 12:00was a huge game for them. Because it has playoff
- 12:04seeding implications. So now this just puts the
- 12:08Eagles a notch above the Packers but stick them
- 12:10to Packers against you lose to the Panthers At
- 12:13home again defense really not giving up a lot
- 12:15of points the same in the Browns game Now the
- 12:18Cowboy game was a shootout, but you tie so You're
- 12:23not where you thought you were gonna be Anytime
- 12:26you have a tie on your record You're never gonna
- 12:28be where you want to be but so now they got that
- 12:31tie. They got these losses Browns are not really
- 12:34that good, Panthers either. They're in the middle
- 12:35of the road. Cowboys too. So it's not good for
- 12:39them. And again, I think what everybody's watching
- 12:42is Jordan Love is kind of been the difference.
- 12:46If you watch some of the, even without Tucker
- 12:49Kraft now and Matthew Golden was out last at
- 12:52the game against Philadelphia. But they show
- 12:55these replays where he's not seeing the open
- 12:59guy. He's missing or Aaron throws fumbles taking
- 13:05bad sacks So the offense isn't clicking and that's
- 13:08not all on Jordan love But when you're the quarterback
- 13:11you are the leader of the offense and you see
- 13:14the frustration in Matt LaFleur And I think it
- 13:16was Chris Canty on ESPN today I was listening
- 13:20and watching and he said Jordan loves gonna cost
- 13:23Matt LaFleur his job So it's the Packers, you
- 13:27know, not that if that I still think they make
- 13:29the playoffs, but if they fizzle out and don't
- 13:34compete, you never know. This league, they have
- 13:37a short memory of the success you had in the
- 13:40past season or two seasons, whatever playoff
- 13:42run they had that one year with Jordan Lovin
- 13:44and LaFleur. They're going to forget about that.
- 13:47You got to produce now in a competitive NFC,
- 13:50and they are falling back behind everybody. And
- 13:55that's the thing that... I wanted to make sure
- 13:58we were keeping an eye on. They're only five,
- 14:00three, and one. The tie does hurt because it's
- 14:04a half game at best. But five and three would
- 14:08be a good record. I think anybody within any
- 14:13NFL fan say, hey, look, going halfway through
- 14:15the season, your team's five and three, do you
- 14:17take it? I think most people say, yeah. So that's
- 14:20a success in that regard. This does fall on Jordan
- 14:23Love. And it's because the games that they lose
- 14:27is just a lack of being able to produce points
- 14:30that office isn't that terrible and we've seen
- 14:34the flashes where they can go out and score you
- 14:37know uh... thirty one points against you know
- 14:40uh... you know that the lions they could put
- 14:43forty on the on the on the cowboys even though
- 14:46it is in a tie you know uh... twenty twenty seven
- 14:49on the lions You know, 27 against the commanders,
- 14:53like we know they have the ability to score,
- 14:55but when you come out in 13 versus the Panthers,
- 14:59one touchdown at home versus Philly, it reflects
- 15:04poorly on Jordan Love. And one thing that you
- 15:08said about Matt LaFleur, if I'm Matt LaFleur,
- 15:13I change nothing about what I'm doing. I go out
- 15:16and coach games the same way I'm coaching. I
- 15:18don't feel like he's coaching that team to lose.
- 15:21They just so happen to be losing. However...
- 15:24If Matt LaFleur, if right now we're recording
- 15:27this at 6 15 p .m. If Matt LaFleur got fired
- 15:31right now, he'd have another coaching job offer
- 15:34at 6 17. He would have the New York Giants job
- 15:37at 6 17. He would be, he would be lined up within
- 15:41minutes. His agent would have offers for him
- 15:44to get another job. And honestly, You know, he,
- 15:48he's had, he's gotten, he's had a lot of excuses
- 15:51as a head coach. I know he's a good coach, but
- 15:54I mean, I wouldn't want to coach Aaron Rogers
- 15:56as great as he was, you know, kind of a pain
- 15:59in ass, but the success at the, at the highest
- 16:03end of football. you know coaching he hadn't
- 16:06been able to to accomplish but if i'm him and
- 16:09this is an opportunity i feel like if he does
- 16:11get let go no one's going to look at him and
- 16:14say hey he failed that franchise no someone will
- 16:17give him another opportunity to coach damn quick
- 16:20so when to kind of get back to the question the
- 16:25real green bay packers i think we see them up
- 16:27and down stagnant offense defensive stout which
- 16:32in a lot of cases will win you games. But when
- 16:35your offense can't get you into double digits,
- 16:39so that way you have an opportunity to win at
- 16:41the end of games. Yeah, man. It's just there's
- 16:43nothing you can do. So maybe they'll make the
- 16:45playoffs. I don't know, man. It's hard to say.
- 16:48I don't know if I trust them enough to win enough
- 16:50of these close games to put up enough points
- 16:52to be able to make a playoff run, even if it
- 16:54is a wild card spot. We're going to step into
- 16:58the team they played. So next we go into the
- 17:01Philadelphia Eagles. So with the please will
- 17:04the real please will the real Philadelphia Eagles,
- 17:07please stand up because I want to lead off on
- 17:12this because okay, you know, we know the talent
- 17:15the Eagles have Super Bowl champion it came back.
- 17:18Okay, they won the Super Bowl. They're gonna
- 17:20get everyone's best shot this year and watching
- 17:26the game versus the Packers, the thing that stood
- 17:28out the most to me was I feel as if that offense
- 17:33isn't necessarily, they're not trying to lose.
- 17:38I feel like they're trying to not lose games
- 17:40as opposed to trying to go out and do the things
- 17:43that an offense can do. And I'm just going to
- 17:46bring up the two plays. It was the huge, you
- 17:49know, Saquon run catch out of the backfield.
- 17:52The prettiest spin move ever, man. Oh my God,
- 17:55his moves are, it's crazy. And then obviously,
- 17:59you know, the Devontae Smith catch touchdown
- 18:02in the end zone just went out and got it. When
- 18:04he knew they needed a big play, he snagged it,
- 18:07scored them a touchdown. Awesome. We know they
- 18:09have that ability, but the thing is, is just
- 18:12being able to move the ball down the field and
- 18:14score a touchdown and then get your defense back
- 18:16out there to give your offense a rest. I feel
- 18:18like their offense is just out on the field too
- 18:20long. all game and it wear again. Okay. You get
- 18:25to wear down their defense, but you saw the Packers
- 18:27are ready for that the entire night. They were
- 18:30like, Oh, bring it. You're going to try to run
- 18:32Saquon again. Ah, we only going to let him get
- 18:34a half a yard. He's going to get, he's going
- 18:36to make some big plays. We know that he's too
- 18:38explosive, but you're not going to be able to
- 18:41win longterm. And I think they're trying to play
- 18:44like a, like a early version of playoff football.
- 18:48To get to the playoffs to play playoff football
- 18:51and I would rather them just go out there and
- 18:53take chances I don't care if hurts throws and
- 18:55deceptions I don't care if if they throw some
- 18:58trick plays in there just to pick up big chunks
- 19:00of yards I just want to see them try more and
- 19:03I feel like they're a little too a little too
- 19:08much of a happy meal type offense, where you
- 19:12know exactly what you're gonna get out of them,
- 19:15and then it's just a matter of whether or not
- 19:16my guys are better than your guys. Yeah, they're
- 19:20kind of, again, we talked about this before,
- 19:23they're kind of accounting on a big play, and
- 19:25that one big play to work. Now, last night it
- 19:28did, right? Like, Saquon made the one play. And
- 19:31then... He did. And Devontae, you know... slightly
- 19:35under thrown ball, but Devontae made the play.
- 19:38But I gotta get into, I got a couple things to
- 19:41hit on the Eagles from the game. Positive, they
- 19:46gave up no sacks from this Green Bay Packer defense.
- 19:50Wow, I didn't realize that. Wow, no, that's a
- 19:52good stat. Look at you pulling out the stats.
- 19:54So that was very good on the offensive line,
- 19:57who Lane Johnson went out for a while. They had
- 20:00Toth at center instead of Jerrigans. He was out.
- 20:02So they had to put in Fred Johnson some for Lane.
- 20:06And then when they had their heavy package, they
- 20:10had Pryor in there too. And credit to Jalen Hurts
- 20:14as well for escaping the rush from Parsons and
- 20:17others. So that was a big thing, by the way.
- 20:21That's huge. Just to say that yeah, the offense
- 20:24is kind of stagnant. They don't. They haven't
- 20:26ran the ball very well and they don't have these
- 20:28explosive plays a lot of yards. But at the end
- 20:30of the day, giving up no sacks was big. And then,
- 20:34like I said, we've seen them have big plays.
- 20:39I don't know why they don't do more. They sometimes
- 20:43can be predictable with the run, but it's like
- 20:46how do you only throw to AJ Brown twice? At one
- 20:51point because I'm gonna get to the one time they
- 20:53the other time they they did and I nearly lost
- 20:55my mind They they they they're only targeting
- 21:00him a little bit and I might man he's he's too
- 21:02good That's where you again we talk about the
- 21:05creativity and we saw that the prior game against
- 21:07the Giants where you know, he had the big plays
- 21:10the touchdowns It's like this is what we expect
- 21:12every game when you have Devante and AJ Saquon
- 21:17Goddard you have weapons They need to open this
- 21:20offense up, and that's what I say. One week they
- 21:23do, the next week they don't. And we have to
- 21:25go back and forth with this on what kind of offense
- 21:28does this team have? The defense is getting better.
- 21:31They've added some pieces. Jalen Phillips played
- 21:35really well. His first game as an eagle. Odore
- 21:39Jackson is still should be the target of every
- 21:43team. So hopefully Jair Alexander can get to
- 21:46play soon. So they're looking better. Nolan Smith
- 21:48came back. So the defense props to them as well
- 21:52for holding the Packers to seven points and I
- 21:55would only say this I kind of be a little negative
- 21:57is that I felt like on that drive to for the
- 22:00Packers the Eagles played really soft defense
- 22:02They did not play the same defense. They had
- 22:04played all year. I mean the whole game. I'm sorry
- 22:06the whole game. So I really do And again, they
- 22:11had the other drive with Jalen Hurts fumbled
- 22:13and he was almost down. It got not it happens
- 22:16right when your quarterback runs his fumble was
- 22:18definitely not as bad as Jordan loves Trying
- 22:21to make something out of nothing as he's getting
- 22:23sacked and he ends up just you know fumbling
- 22:25the ball away But then I have to also hit on
- 22:29that Nick Sirianni decision. I've got his back.
- 22:32I've got there. I've got all their back but at
- 22:35fourth and six And you have to, at this point,
- 22:39they gotta give the ball back to the Packers.
- 22:42The smart decision, because of where the ball
- 22:45was at, they're like 35 yard line, the Packers
- 22:4935. So if you don't get this fourth and six,
- 22:53then the Packers get the ball right there and
- 22:54they're about 20 yards or so from field goal
- 22:56range, ish, right? So of all things. One, they
- 23:03stop the clock because they decide to throw a
- 23:06deep pass to AJ Brown, a basically up for grabs.
- 23:10AJ, just go get it. Jump up, moss this guy and
- 23:14catch a touchdown. Now, if you watch the game,
- 23:17they did not get it. They gave the Packers in
- 23:20a field goal. They're up by a field goal. They
- 23:22give the Packers the ball with 30, was it 33
- 23:24seconds? I believe. They give them the ball back.
- 23:30Luckily, The Packers had to try a 64 yard field
- 23:33goal. But honestly, that was one of the dumbest
- 23:37things I've seen. A dumb coaching decision. I
- 23:40know we're in this new age of football with analytics
- 23:42and you do this and you try this, whatever, whatever.
- 23:47I don't know for the life of me why they would
- 23:49not punt that ball to try to pin them in. Worst
- 23:52case, touchback, they get it at a 20 instead
- 23:55of. You know right there one good pass by Jordan
- 23:58love and they're gonna be in field goal range
- 24:00and they almost was in today's NFL a 64 yard
- 24:04field goal now is like a 30 yard field goal So
- 24:06they got lucky that was a stupid decision cannot
- 24:10have that and that there again Nick Sirianni,
- 24:14please stand up and You know, are you gonna coach
- 24:17like an idiot? Are you gonna coach like a Super
- 24:19Bowl champion? Which one are you gonna do? So
- 24:22I'm not gonna let you do this I'll let you get
- 24:25that out. I'm not going to let you do this. You
- 24:28started that off by saying that you wanted them
- 24:32to be more aggressive, that you wanted. You did.
- 24:35I didn't make that up. You said it. There's a
- 24:37time and place. You want to be more aggressive.
- 24:38There is a time and place. I agree with you.
- 24:41And here's the thing. Even if it was a dumb decision
- 24:45to go forward on fourth and sixth, if you make
- 24:48it... and they make it you're glad that he that
- 24:50he had the balls to take a shot like that and
- 24:53here's the thing it wasn't it wasn't it wasn't
- 24:56to their detriment he was gauging the way the
- 24:59game was being played and the way the Packers
- 25:03defense you saw how impactful they were man like
- 25:06they they were making fantastic reads and i think
- 25:11it was that fourth and six play the reason the
- 25:14only reason why i like it is the only reason
- 25:15why i like it because you see so many teams fake
- 25:20like they're gonna make that like they're gonna
- 25:22go for it and then they don't and then they chicken
- 25:25out and then they call a timeout and then they
- 25:27put their punt unit back out there to punt the
- 25:28ball and he's like you know what what we got
- 25:31to lose we're holding our own own against them
- 25:34on the road against this defense you know we
- 25:38show that we're happy that we have the ability
- 25:40to go out there and score points we have the
- 25:42better offense we got a better quarterback we
- 25:45got a better coach We've got a better running
- 25:46back. Let's go out there and see what we can
- 25:48do." And they tried it. It didn't work. I don't
- 25:52think this is something that Nixery Yarn is going
- 25:53to do every week. So I understand dunking on
- 25:57them because it didn't work. But if it had worked,
- 26:00I don't think you'd be bringing it up. And you
- 26:04talked about airing it out to AJ Brown. You have
- 26:08to in a lot of these situations. You've got to
- 26:11take those shots. It's no different than the
- 26:13pass that was thrown to Devontae. It's going
- 26:16to happen. You've got to take those shots. You've
- 26:18got to take those chances. As great as the players
- 26:21are within the offense, they aren't polished
- 26:23enough to be able to run perfect sequential plays.
- 26:27You have to take your chances and pick your spots
- 26:29when you can. So personally, I don't have much
- 26:32of a problem with it. And if they would end up
- 26:36losing that game, Yeah, I understand you being
- 26:39upset about it. You will point right back to
- 26:41that one play, right? Well, because of the situation.
- 26:45I mean, you just can't give them the ball right
- 26:47there with the game on the line and they could
- 26:49tie it with a field goal. If they were up by,
- 26:51I would felt better if they were up by a touchdown
- 26:53or six points and say, you know, Packers got
- 26:57to go down and score a touchdown. We're going
- 26:59to give them the ball here with 33 seconds. Good
- 27:02luck. But the fact that they're one pass away
- 27:04from field goal range, you just can't do that.
- 27:07That's all. That's what I mean. I just, I can't
- 27:10agree with it. And they've done this before on
- 27:12fourth and long or fourth and shorts where they've
- 27:14thrown it deep and it worked, right? They hit
- 27:16AJ. But with the game on the line in that situation,
- 27:21I don't know another coach that would have done
- 27:23that. And again, he does this sometimes in past
- 27:27seasons and I'll get over it because they won
- 27:29the game. But but still I stand I stand firm
- 27:33I stand firm So, okay, so let's in terms of the
- 27:39real Eagles Let's go with what you want to see.
- 27:42Do you? Do you want a coach who doesn't take
- 27:46those chances at all? So even when it's to his
- 27:49benefit even when it's to the benefit of the
- 27:51team even it's to the benefit of getting a guy
- 27:55who is You know, he might be the, I mean, he's
- 27:59the whiniest wide receiver that I, I mean, AJ
- 28:02Brown is the whiniest wide receiver in a long
- 28:05time that just kind of just every week. It's
- 28:07like, Oh, that's not the situation. No, no, no.
- 28:10I'm saying you've got to take those shots. You've
- 28:13got to take those chances. Not in that situation.
- 28:17So you're saying the goal, but what situation
- 28:20specifically be specific was it was. They're
- 28:24out of, you know, they can't, it's fourth down.
- 28:27They have to, they have to give the ball back.
- 28:30You're either trying a long field goal, you're
- 28:32gonna punt, or you're gonna go for it, right?
- 28:35And it's fourth and six. And it's, again, at
- 28:39the 35, in between the 35, 40 yard line of the
- 28:41Packers. So in that situation, with a game on
- 28:45the line, right? So Packers are out of timeouts.
- 28:49you're going to have to give them the back unless
- 28:51you go for it or kick a field goal, which in
- 28:53that weather, you're not going to kick a field
- 28:55goal because then if you miss, you're really
- 28:57giving it to them damn near midfield. That's
- 29:00what I'm saying. In that situation, the goal
- 29:03is to win the football game. And they did. Barely.
- 29:08They got lucky. A win is a win. But I'm saying
- 29:10the play, that doesn't change that the play call
- 29:12was bad. So so let me okay, so I'll try to put
- 29:16it on this because I don't I don't want to turn
- 29:18this into like the fourth and six segment I got
- 29:21you right the the only the only thing I'll say
- 29:23is I'll ask you I'll ask you just two questions
- 29:27one when it comes to fourth and six Do you feel
- 29:32like that team was capable enough as an offense
- 29:36to get those seven yards that they needed? If
- 29:40it may be in a different spot of the game Right?
- 29:44Not in that spot. And truthfully, again, look
- 29:47at the game, right? Not a lot of yards, not a
- 29:50lot of offense. Either way, fourth and six is
- 29:52like, that's a long ways in that game also. If
- 29:56you're asking me that, that's tough. You do realize
- 30:00that that offense, you do realize that that offense,
- 30:04the Eagles offense that we're talking about has
- 30:05four Pro Bowl caliber starters on it. Hertz,
- 30:09Saquon, Brown, Smith. And you're telling me they're
- 30:12not capable of getting you seven yards and make
- 30:14a big play when you - I didn't say they're not
- 30:16capable. I said on that night, on last night,
- 30:20that's a tough task with the game on the line
- 30:22where you're trying to win. And they haven't
- 30:26done anything. And that's what we're talking
- 30:27about, right? The real Philadelphia Eagles stand
- 30:29up. Yeah, like sometimes I'd be like, yeah, go
- 30:32for it. Fourth and sixth, not in that situation,
- 30:34though, ever. But middle of the game, you want
- 30:39to go for it? Go for it. You don't feel comfortable
- 30:41in kicking a long field goal? Go for it. Like
- 30:44Greg Olson said, more and more teams are going
- 30:46to be going for it right in that area instead
- 30:49of kicking the field goal. I have no problem
- 30:51with it. I just got, like I said, that. last
- 30:53on that game that night that situation I did
- 30:57not like it. It worked out. Sometimes you get
- 31:02lucky and we'll take it. I'll certainly take
- 31:07it. Hell yeah. I'll take it. A win is a win.
- 31:12Oh yeah for the next one we'll go to your Carolina
- 31:15Panthers. Not mine. Not mine. Our home, our home
- 31:20team. Yeah. The hometown Charlotte, Carolina
- 31:24Panthers. We, you know, with the real Panthers,
- 31:26please stand up. Uh, I think the real Panthers
- 31:29have been in front of us all season. They've,
- 31:33they've been opportunists. They've been winning
- 31:36the games that they were just good enough to
- 31:40win. Um, I don't even know the stats, you know,
- 31:44Oh, I don't even know the stats of their, their
- 31:47last, actually their last one when they, when
- 31:49they beat Green Bay, um, I believe, I believe
- 31:54Bryce Young had 102 yards and I think I'm doing
- 31:57that and I think I'm doing that from memory.
- 32:00Now, so they, their opportunists in the way that
- 32:05when things happen to their benefit on the football
- 32:09field, they capitalize on it. Their run game
- 32:11is crazy. Okay, they are fantastic moving the
- 32:15ball up and down the field and they've had opportunities
- 32:18to to win games whenever they need to however
- 32:21this is a If if if the entire league is broken
- 32:27up into three tiers The Panthers are in the bottom
- 32:31tier disguised as the team that's in the second
- 32:33tier they're not a great team man and and and
- 32:37and you know, you could say that their record
- 32:39is their record but All in all, I don't think
- 32:42anyone has any confidence in the Panthers to
- 32:44do, didn't have a lot of confidence in the Panthers
- 32:47to do anything of significance this season anyway.
- 32:51And even if they do make the playoffs, I don't
- 32:53care who their matchup is, you're going to bet
- 32:55money that they'll get smoked. So for them to
- 32:59play against a division opponent in the Saints
- 33:02and to lie down the way that they did in that
- 33:06game, I don't think it surprises any of us. It's
- 33:09just is one of those things that's going to happen
- 33:11with a team like this. They're still trying to
- 33:13figure things out. Bryce Young, as a starting
- 33:17quarterback, very undersized. He looks really
- 33:20scared out there sometimes. He lacks the arm
- 33:22strength to drive the ball down the field. I
- 33:25saw so many weak armed passes from him over this
- 33:29past weekend. It frustrates me because their
- 33:34line tries their best, but when he starts to
- 33:37feel pressure, he panics a little bit and he's
- 33:40not a big guy that can just push the ball and
- 33:43get it to where he needs to get it. You know,
- 33:46tipped passes, short passes, passes hit the dirt,
- 33:49interceptions. It's just things that you just
- 33:52can't, you have to account for those happening
- 33:55in your offense and you have to coach the game
- 33:57around it, which is why they run the ball so
- 33:59damn much, but good for them. You know, their
- 34:03record, what are they? Right at 500 now? Five
- 34:07and five, yes. So they're five and five. I mean,
- 34:11you wouldn't be surprised if they lose their
- 34:13next three games. It's just they're not a good
- 34:16team. It's been a great season for them. This
- 34:19is a good year for them. Oh, yeah. They're learning
- 34:21a lot, right? Yeah. But they're not a good football
- 34:25team. And I think anybody who's honest with themselves,
- 34:27they know that. Yeah. When they, I told a Panther
- 34:31fan this, Shout out to them that if the Panthers
- 34:35finish eight and nine That's a win. It's a success.
- 34:40You know nobody's expecting them to win the division
- 34:44even make the playoffs really I heard chirps
- 34:47of that in the offseason and then you watch them
- 34:49play their first two weeks and you're like, yeah
- 34:50This is not a playoff team because when they
- 34:52have lost normally they get blown out and they
- 34:55look really bad That's the best the biggest thing
- 34:57that stands out to me. But again each week we
- 35:00don't know Like, one week at home, they're dominant,
- 35:04and they shut out the Falcons. They beat the
- 35:06Dolphins, beat the Cowboys. They go to Lambeau,
- 35:10beat the Packers, but then... And then they play
- 35:13the Patriots and lose 42 -13. That's what I'm
- 35:15saying. Patriots, 42 -13. Let's see, the Bills,
- 35:1940 -9, which they had Andy Dalton that game.
- 35:22But still, they have looked bad in their losses.
- 35:28and their wins are kind of like, you just never
- 35:31know. Like they, they toughed it out against
- 35:32the Jets and Bryce Young, like you said, they,
- 35:35you know, I'm pulling for them. I'm rooting for
- 35:38the Panthers. Like you said, a hometown team.
- 35:40I want to see them successful, but you see those
- 35:43throws like Bryce and not being able to throw
- 35:45over the line and bigger guys. And like you said,
- 35:48getting that push to the ball. I see a lot of
- 35:50those throws and you see that, but then there's
- 35:52times where you see them and he's smooth and
- 35:55especially out of the pocket. He does a lot better.
- 35:58He makes great throws and I don't know what the
- 36:01same I told you know about the Saints earlier
- 36:02this year Kellen Moore He's got him playing really
- 36:05well even in losses But it was kind of weird
- 36:09For them to come in and pretty much dominate
- 36:11the Panthers. I know 17 -7 doesn't seem like
- 36:14domination But you know when you turn the ball
- 36:17over Like the Panthers did and then just let
- 36:20a rookie quarterback in Tyler Shuck come in and
- 36:22beat you like that and they just traded you know,
- 36:25Shaheed to Seattle. So they're less, they're
- 36:28one less weapon and you still get beat at home.
- 36:32And the Panthers have been good at home. And
- 36:33that's what I think was biggest for me was losing
- 36:35at home to the Saints. I don't care about divisional
- 36:38game or not, because the Falcons who I think
- 36:40are better than the Saints, they came in and
- 36:43couldn't do anything. So we don't know week to
- 36:45week again. This is what we're talking about.
- 36:47I don't know what team week to week the Panthers
- 36:48are going to be. I don't know if Bryce Young
- 36:50is gonna look like he could be the future. And
- 36:52then the next week he looks again back like he's
- 36:55a middle school kid trying to play in the NFL.
- 36:59And again, like Bryce, pulling for him. But once
- 37:03again, week to week, we don't know what this
- 37:05team is gonna do. And if you do, they are a building
- 37:09team. They're trying to build something. I think
- 37:12this season will be an improvement. Like I said,
- 37:14already at five and five, I think any Panther
- 37:16fan from the past few seasons will take that.
- 37:20I'm still not ready to say Bryce Young is the
- 37:22answer for quarterback for this franchise. But
- 37:25we shall see. And you're talking about the real
- 37:29version of the Panthers and how we don't know
- 37:31what you're going to get out of them. I know
- 37:32exactly what we're going to get out of them.
- 37:34We're going to get more losses than wins the
- 37:36remaining of this year. And here's why. They're
- 37:39playing the Falcons, division opponent. They
- 37:41blinked them in the first game. I don't think
- 37:43that happens again. Not in Atlanta. No, not in
- 37:46Atlanta. They play. So, they play the Falcons.
- 37:49Then, they play the 49ers. Still going to be
- 37:52a competitive game even though the 49ers aren't
- 37:54great. Then, they play the Rams. Then, they play
- 37:56the Saints again in New Orleans. Then, they got
- 37:59to play the Bucks who are injured and I still
- 38:01bet my money on the Bucks. Then, they got to
- 38:04play right now currently top of their division,
- 38:08NFC West, Seahawks, and then they close out again
- 38:11in Tampa. So, if If I'm putting any money down
- 38:15and I'm not a gambling man, I say they lose more
- 38:18than half those games, which means that they
- 38:20have a losing record and most likely they missed
- 38:23the playoffs because they're not going to get
- 38:24a wild card spot spot with a losing record. Not
- 38:27in today's NFL is too many good teams. So, you
- 38:30know, I think this is the second half of the,
- 38:32this is the, if this is the bad time of the year
- 38:36for you to lose the types of games that they're
- 38:38losing and I think that's the thing that kind
- 38:42of hurt them the most. They started off hot.
- 38:44They won some games that kind of shocked the
- 38:46league. And everybody's like, oh, look at the
- 38:47Panthers. They're kind of hanging. They're holding
- 38:49their own. But now things are about to start
- 38:51to get ugly. Imagine those same wins on their
- 38:54record now going into this schedule that they
- 38:57have in front of them. You feel completely different
- 39:00about them, even though they're the same damn
- 39:02team. You still feel different about them because
- 39:05they went and got the wins that you knew that
- 39:08they were capable of getting. Yeah, I think I
- 39:10think the Saints game just stands out like I
- 39:12can get with the other But you know the Saints
- 39:15Packer game kind of cancel each other out now,
- 39:17but that's a game that they could have won You
- 39:20know been six and four instead of five and a
- 39:21five and like you say yeah, you look at their
- 39:24schedule I think at best they they might win
- 39:26two of those games so they might not get to that
- 39:29eight nine, but No, no, I don't think so. No,
- 39:32I do I don't think they win Wow, yeah, I don't
- 39:36see them winning three more games. No, I just
- 39:39don't math mathematically I don't see it and
- 39:42I think the other teams that they're playing
- 39:45are more equipped To get the win versus the Panthers.
- 39:49Yeah, stop the run limit Bryce Young win the
- 39:53game, you know, yeah, and they go. Yeah So let's
- 39:58roll to the Baltimore Ravens will the real Baltimore
- 40:02Ravens, please stand up a little unfair, okay?
- 40:05Because we know Lamar Jackson has been injured
- 40:07for a large chunk of the season. And they tried
- 40:11their hardest to put the team on Derek Henry's
- 40:14back. I'm gonna love Derek Henry forever, man.
- 40:19He is a football player's football player through
- 40:22and through. Their defense has been horrendous
- 40:25most of the season. Wow. They're starting to
- 40:29kind of find their groove. you know middle of
- 40:31the year as common we've seen that happen from
- 40:34time to time but when it comes to the ravens
- 40:37as a whole you from the very beginning you said
- 40:40this from the beginning of the season you said
- 40:42you better watch out man because they're struggling
- 40:44but if you but if you mess around and let the
- 40:47ravens make the playoffs is going to be ugly
- 40:49for you go ahead go and give me what you yeah
- 40:52especially now when you see the Steelers they're
- 40:54like a game behind Pittsburgh they're getting
- 40:56Lamar Jackson back they're getting healthy And
- 40:59I think they would have turned it around if Jackson
- 41:01hadn't gotten hurt, right? They started the season
- 41:03off rough. And we were just like, OK, but they're
- 41:08good teams. They're losing, too. But still, what's
- 41:11wrong with them? And then Jackson goes down.
- 41:12Of course, then they lose some games when they
- 41:15were trying to play Cooper Rush. Then they bring
- 41:18in Huntley. So they play better with him. So
- 41:21now they got Jackson back. They're right there.
- 41:23And like you said, I said it. I said don't let
- 41:26the Baltimore Ravens in the playoffs because
- 41:29healthy beginning of the year we we talked about
- 41:31who do we trust who we believe in who are the
- 41:33teams and it's the Chiefs it's the Bravens and
- 41:35the Bills we'll get into the Bills in a minute
- 41:37but those are the three teams right those are
- 41:39the norms that we expect to come out of the ASC
- 41:42so now here we are even back coming back from
- 41:45one and five now to four and five at the moment
- 41:48they have Jackson and their schedule if you look
- 41:52at it I think they could get in. They play Cleveland,
- 41:57they play the Jets, they play Cincinnati, Pittsburgh,
- 42:00Cincinnati again, Pittsburgh again. So let's
- 42:06see here. So you look and say one, two, three,
- 42:10four. I think they can get four to five wins
- 42:14out of that schedule. I think they split a lot
- 42:16of the divisional games. They got to go to Green
- 42:18Bay, but again, we already talked about them.
- 42:20We don't know what they're going to be. And Lamar
- 42:22Jackson's a baller. Look at his numbers. All
- 42:25he does is put up great numbers and normally
- 42:27all he does is win. So I say for the AFC, all
- 42:31those Patriots are looking great right now, okay?
- 42:34We know the Chiefs are the Chiefs. We expect
- 42:36the Bills, again, gonna talk about it, but we
- 42:38expect them to be right in the mix. But again,
- 42:42the Baltimore Ravens, what were they, a drop
- 42:44pass last year from going to the next round in
- 42:48the playoffs, right? So. of beating Buffalo,
- 42:51yeah. So getting that match up with the Chiefs.
- 42:53So I think again, let's not discount Harbaugh.
- 42:58Let's not discount Lamar and this team. They're
- 43:01still a good football team. They were figuring
- 43:04it out. Then they got the injury bug. So once
- 43:07again, don't let them into playoffs. That's all
- 43:10I say. Yeah, I'm going to have to agree with
- 43:13you. Looking at the rest of their schedule. I
- 43:16think they only lose two more games the rest
- 43:19of the year. Oh, wow. Browns, Jets, Bengals,
- 43:22Steelers, they played them twice. I think they
- 43:24split that. They played the Bengals twice. I
- 43:28think they, you know, I think they split that.
- 43:30I think they embarrassed the Patriots, even though
- 43:33they're a well -run team. It's in Baltimore,
- 43:35yeah. I think they can... Yeah, I think that's
- 43:39enough for them to win and especially to win
- 43:41that division where we've seen Aaron Rodgers
- 43:44struggle. We've seen him struggle the last couple
- 43:47of weeks and we know he's great. He's always
- 43:51been a great quarterback, but he's still in his
- 43:5340s. He's coming off an Achilles tear. All those
- 43:57miles add up and he looks more hesitant as a
- 44:00quarterback than he ever has in my eyes. I've
- 44:03never seen him hesitate so much standing in the
- 44:05pocket. So I, and that's one thing that Lamar
- 44:09Jackson does not do. That dude don't blink. He's
- 44:12going to go out there and do whatever he needs
- 44:14to do to get an extra yard, to make that extra
- 44:16pass. I, I think it's their division to win their,
- 44:22their, you know, four and five currently. I think
- 44:27it's, I think, I think it's not, it's not out
- 44:29of the realm of possibility for them to only
- 44:30lose two more games the rest of the year and
- 44:32win that division and host a playoff game. I
- 44:35think it's absolutely possible and um total and
- 44:39the other thing i'm going to do is give them
- 44:40credit their defense man playing the bears was
- 44:43their get right game you know they held them
- 44:46to 16 points and you know nana played the dolphins
- 44:48held them to six points vikings you know held
- 44:51them to 19 points They've been able to kind of
- 44:54figure out what they need to do to just stop
- 44:55teams from scoring, holding them to field goals
- 44:58and keeping the score low. Now you got Lamar
- 45:01Jackson back and it's like, okay, now we're going
- 45:02to go down and run up the score on these guys.
- 45:04So good for them. Perfect time of year, middle
- 45:07of the season. They can go ahead and make their
- 45:09runs and move things up. And I like their chances
- 45:12of making the playoffs easily. So I'm going to
- 45:14go ahead with it. I'm going to go ahead with
- 45:15my Colin Cowherd, Skip Bayless, Steven Atake,
- 45:19Hot Take, the Baltimore Ravens. will win the
- 45:24division. Stop it. Hold on, hold on, hold on.
- 45:27You mean the division or do you mean the AFC?
- 45:29The division. Okay. I'm not crazy, man. I'm just
- 45:35making, no, I mean, no, Skip Bayless would say
- 45:37the AFC, you know, like we all know Patrick Mahomes.
- 45:42Yeah, we already talked about it. Ain't nobody
- 45:44picking right now anybody to win it yet like
- 45:48that. But the division. They will win the division.
- 45:53You know what? I'll do it. I'll take the Baltimore
- 45:58Ravens to win the AFC. Wow. You're even going,
- 46:02you're even going like, I'll take the, I'll take,
- 46:04I'll take the Baltimore Ravens to win the AFC
- 46:06because I like their chances against every team
- 46:11in the AFC matchup was the way that they're playing
- 46:14defense. Lamar Jackson being back. I don't think
- 46:17they rushed him back to play this. Not at all.
- 46:20If there was a chance that he would, he was more
- 46:22injury prone than what he was at the beginning
- 46:24of the year, he wouldn't be out there. He's their
- 46:26franchise, man. And everything was going horribly.
- 46:29So I'll take it. Bills out of the picture. No
- 46:33one as great as the Patriots have been. I don't
- 46:35think anybody really trust them, even though
- 46:37we know that they're solid and they're well -coached
- 46:39and they're playing well. They're looking good.
- 46:41I'll take the Ravens. I'll take the Ravens to
- 46:44make it to the Super Bowl. You can put my name
- 46:47on it, and if I'm wrong, you know, sue me. We
- 46:49got it. We got it on tape. So let's jump to the
- 46:55other team that we discussed. We talked about
- 46:57one more team. Those Buffalo Bills. With the
- 47:00real Buffalo Bills, please stand up. With the
- 47:02real Josh Allen, please stand up. Reigning Defending
- 47:06MVP, please stand up. Yeah, this is a tough one
- 47:11for me, man. I prematurely declared Josh Allen
- 47:17the best quarterback in the league. I think that
- 47:19was week two. Yeah. Week two, week three, when
- 47:22they were out there blasting teams. So okay,
- 47:28let's talk about it. They've been playing up
- 47:32and down football all year. you know, they go
- 47:37and they win their Super Bowl by beating the
- 47:41Chiefs. Well, they do that every year. They do
- 47:43that every year in the regular season. Yeah.
- 47:45And then they go out to the Dolphins, which,
- 47:49I mean, we've been firing his coach every week
- 47:52for five weeks. That's definitely somebody I
- 47:54want to have. They don't even have a coach. That's
- 47:56definitely who I want to head on a stick. Head
- 47:59on a stick. We wanted to get Mike McDaniels the
- 48:01hell up out of there. His gold rim glasses. You
- 48:05lose to them without Tyree Hill. You go and you
- 48:09lose to the, now again, that is a division game.
- 48:12We know how division games go, but you score
- 48:1413 points on them. And as you look at the remaining
- 48:20schedule that they have, their inconsistency
- 48:24is so weak to weak that it's hard for you to
- 48:29project how they're actually going to play. So
- 48:31they play the Bucks, the Texans. the Steelers,
- 48:35the Bengals, Patriots, the back half of their
- 48:39schedule is really AFC heavy. And you don't know
- 48:45what Josh Allen you're going to get. We know
- 48:47that that dude's great. Again, MVP level caliber
- 48:51player, but he can't do it all by himself. And
- 48:54I think that's evident. I am I'll admit this,
- 48:59you know, on record, I didn't watch the Bills
- 49:02Dolphins game. I just didn't have it up. But
- 49:05as I was watching just kind of the ticker, you
- 49:07know, you can't watch every single game from
- 49:09beginning to end. I was trying to figure out
- 49:11like what happened. I'm like, did somebody get
- 49:12hurt? Like, you know, was there a major injury
- 49:14that I'm missing? And it's just like, no, he
- 49:16just played poorly. You know, the team was unable
- 49:20to produce. And here's the interesting thing.
- 49:23I'm going to point this out to you because I
- 49:24don't know if you caught this and then I'm going
- 49:26to shut the hell up and let you go. Now, some
- 49:30of this could have been garbage stats. Josh Allen
- 49:33was 28 for 40, 306 yards, two touchdowns, and
- 49:37a pick. To me, that doesn't signify 13 points.
- 49:42He also fumbled, lost the fumble. There you go.
- 49:46Now, okay, so that's two turnovers. So, two turnovers,
- 49:49two touchdowns, 300 yards passing. It's to the
- 49:54Dolphins, which are bad across the board. every
- 49:59aspect of their team is bad. So it's a terrible
- 50:02loss. But even with all that, man, they're still
- 50:04six and three. They're still at the top of their
- 50:07division. Like they're close. They're right there.
- 50:11And I still don't, I don't trust them. It was
- 50:16my fault, man. It was my error for trying to
- 50:19give Josh Allen the credit too early in the year,
- 50:22instead of making him prove it. And especially
- 50:24have him prove it in the playoffs, which he's
- 50:26never done. So I'll lay on my sword for that
- 50:31one. That was something that I probably shouldn't
- 50:33have done. But what was your takeaway from the
- 50:36Bills and just kind of how they're flailing this
- 50:38year? Man, we talk about this. We talk about,
- 50:41you talk about how you don't trust anybody. And
- 50:43we talk about these teams and they had these
- 50:45losses. We brought up the Packers already. The
- 50:48Bills, of course, I think are even more favorite
- 50:50in the AFC. You think Josh Allen got that AVP
- 50:53finally. They're going to take that next step.
- 50:56But it seems like they're the same Buffalo Bills
- 50:59from every year is They give you they they make
- 51:02you think and give you hope especially if you're
- 51:04a Bills fan But then you you lose to the Falcons
- 51:08like you mentioned the Dolphins like you score
- 51:1013 You only score 14 against the Falcons So those
- 51:16are the losses right the Patriots beating you
- 51:18in Buffalo was a shocker and Then you had these
- 51:21two bad losses. So again Buffalo be a team. They'll
- 51:24be in the playoffs But these games that you look
- 51:27at, I think that Tampa game going to be tough.
- 51:31In Houston will be tough. Even though, depending
- 51:35on who the quarterback's gonna be for Houston,
- 51:38at New England will be tough. Philadelphia comes
- 51:41to Buffalo, that will be tough. And I'm sure
- 51:44the Jets on that last week of the season, if
- 51:46it counts, I mean, they're gonna try their best.
- 51:48And don't discredit the Jets. They play tough,
- 51:52they play hard. I mean, they're not great. They're
- 51:54not good at all, actually, but a divisional game.
- 51:58But the main thing is to me is the same Buffalo
- 52:00Bills as I see every season. They have ups and
- 52:04downs, and then everybody's going to pick them
- 52:07and tell me that Josh Allen is the greatest football
- 52:09player. Not you, though. But I just feel like
- 52:15every year, this is what we get. And I don't
- 52:17try to fire coaches, and I'm not trying to put
- 52:19that out there on McDermott. because he always
- 52:23has them there. But what if they don't win the
- 52:26division? How does that look on the MVP that
- 52:30a second year quarterback and Vrabel in his first
- 52:33year lead the Patriots to win the division? That's
- 52:37a bad look on Buffalo because you got, like we
- 52:39talked, they're the favorite. They're one of
- 52:41the favorites out of the AFC. We talk about the
- 52:43Chiefs, we talk about the Bills, and of course
- 52:45we mentioned the Ravens. So again, to me, it's
- 52:48just inconsistency. year to year from Buffalo.
- 52:52Now they could go on, they get hot sometimes,
- 52:54they could go on a run. But we want to see, they
- 52:57need to cut out these bad losses, that's for
- 52:59sure. Like any team, and I think this year we've
- 53:02seen that from a lot of teams, but that's the
- 53:05biggest thing. I think they're the same Buffalo
- 53:08Bills as every year. And just like we talked
- 53:10about the Ravens, until you get to the playoffs,
- 53:13until you beat Patrick Mahomes, until you get
- 53:16over that hump to the Super Bowl. It is what
- 53:19it is Yeah, man, and I God bless them. They they
- 53:25have a shot every year. They're competitive every
- 53:28year. I I Think they'll still be competitive
- 53:33in the AFC. Like if they make it to an AFC championship
- 53:36game I don't think either of us would be shocked
- 53:38just because we know that Josh Allen is that
- 53:40talented. He's one of those guys man He is that
- 53:43dude. Yeah, and you know and I think I mean,
- 53:48I guess if you have to say the top three quarterbacks
- 53:51in the league are all AFC quarterbacks, I think
- 53:54in whatever order you want to pick, you go Mahomes,
- 53:56Allen, Jackson. Is that fair to say? I think
- 53:59some would say that, yeah. I don't think it's
- 54:02bad to say that. No, I mean, but in terms of
- 54:05like top three, and there they are all in the
- 54:07AFC. So all three of those guys are capable of
- 54:11putting their team on their back and supermaning
- 54:14their way through a win. So Josh Allen's going
- 54:18to have to show it. And I'll, I apologize to
- 54:22the universe for trying to, for trying to take
- 54:25Patrick Mahomes throne as the greatest quarterback
- 54:27in the league currently. I mean, I was going
- 54:30to give it to Josh Allen because I felt as if
- 54:32he'd earned it with the way he played last year
- 54:34and the way he started off the season this year.
- 54:36But yeah, I mean, he's going to have to, he's
- 54:38going to have to, you know, he's making me look
- 54:40like a fool, man. You know how like, you know,
- 54:42like when Skip Bayless uh... you know uh... call
- 54:45someone great and then they start feeling that
- 54:47he bashes and i'm not going to have to josh allen
- 54:50now we don't know anything here he is great yes
- 54:54so i'm just gonna i'm gonna give him some time
- 54:56i'm gonna give some grace because i think we
- 54:58know he has that in him and if he turns this
- 55:00thing around as a crazy run the rest of the season
- 55:03and blows to the pre -op playoffs it was a super
- 55:06bowl neither one of us would be surprised Hey,
- 55:11so so to end to kind of end this before we get
- 55:14into the fun stuff, which I think is all fun,
- 55:17but. Right now, really quick. Give me like maybe
- 55:23three to four teams that you believe in or do
- 55:27we? So I have said, I believe I said it twice
- 55:35that I don't trust none of these motherfuckers.
- 55:37That is true. Oh, man. Okay, so three, okay,
- 55:42so I'll do this. I'll give you three to four
- 55:44teams. I'll pick two from each conference And
- 55:49the AFC I am going to have to go with the Chiefs
- 55:55and the Ravens, okay And the NFC that's it's
- 56:01a tougher question the only team The only team
- 56:07I really trust for certain is the Philadelphia
- 56:16Eagles. And if I have to pick another one, I'll
- 56:24give them their credit for winning and losing
- 56:29in consistent fashion, but always trying to give
- 56:32themselves the best chance to win. I see you
- 56:36Detroit. Yeah. I'll give it to the Lions. Okay.
- 56:39So yeah, so there's so that's my four so I'll
- 56:41go Kansas City Baltimore Philly and Detroit Okay,
- 56:47so here I go I've got three NFC and I got one
- 56:51AFC the AFC. I'm just going based off of right
- 56:54now Like you said, I don't know that I trust
- 56:58them But the Patriots are what they are at the
- 57:01moment. Okay They are what they are. They're
- 57:04sitting up there at the top I think I trust them
- 57:07more than the Colts, because we talked about
- 57:11the Colts before. I like what you said. I like
- 57:14that Ravens and Chiefs. Again, Chiefs, they're
- 57:16the team until they get knocked out. And then
- 57:18my other three are the Eagles, the Lions, and
- 57:21the Rams. Why the Rams? I'm just curious. Just
- 57:24real quick. I mean, Matthew Stafford, to me right
- 57:27now, if Jalen Hurts is not the MVP, then Matthew
- 57:31Stafford is the MVP right now. And their losses.
- 57:35were one to the Eagles, one to the Niners in
- 57:38which they decided to just not tie the game and
- 57:41go for it. It is, you know, divisional game,
- 57:44Thursday night game. So to me, I think, I mean,
- 57:48they don't really have a bad law. I mean, even
- 57:50though the Eagles came back to beat them, the
- 57:52Eagles are the Eagles. They're the Super Bowl
- 57:54champs. No shame in that. So I really like the
- 57:58Rams. But yeah, Rams, Lions, Eagles, and then
- 58:03AFC really is a toss -up right now. But the Patriots
- 58:06are sitting up there. They're playing the best
- 58:08football. So I'll give them on this week, on
- 58:11this episode, the love. So I'll say this, man,
- 58:15and I just want to make this point. Matthew Stafford
- 58:20has been playing incredible football. Yes. Matthew
- 58:24Stafford right now currently has 25 touchdowns
- 58:27to two interceptions. Unbelievable. And you know
- 58:33how this goes. It's typical sports talk when
- 58:37you mention how someone has a very low this or
- 58:40a very high percentage of that, and then they
- 58:42go out and have a three interception game. So
- 58:45I hope I didn't jinx them, but 25 touchdowns
- 58:50to two picks at this point in the year is insane.
- 58:54If Patrick Mahomes was doing that sports media
- 58:58personalities, all over every network and every
- 59:01internet platform would be having convulsions
- 59:03on the floor if Mahomes was doing this and putting
- 59:05up these types of stuff. Chris Collinsworth would
- 59:07be losing it. Chris Collinsworth, oh my god,
- 59:09yeah man, his eyes would be rolling in the back
- 59:12of his head right now. He'd have his O face,
- 59:14but right now I'm gonna give it to Stafford,
- 59:17man. Your boy's cooking, so no, the Rams are
- 59:21a damn good pick. I'm gonna give you that. Fun.
- 59:28F -U -N. Now we're having fun. Now we're getting
- 59:32into our fun random topic. Today is a little
- 59:35comparison. I don't think there's a wrong or
- 59:38right answer here. We just thought it'd be fun
- 59:40to talk about. We saw this quote from Travis
- 59:43Hunter. I think you said it was earlier this
- 59:46year, just saying that it was harder to play
- 59:49both sides of the football in, I mean, both sides
- 59:52in football, offense, defense. than doing like
- 59:56Shohei Otani, who is pitching and hitting. All
- 1:00:01right, you're the baseball guy. Go. All right,
- 1:00:03so first off, I will say, obviously, physically,
- 1:00:07the physicality of playing football is tougher,
- 1:00:10right? He's not wrong. Like, if you're playing
- 1:00:13defense and offense in the National Football
- 1:00:16League, that is obviously very, that is tough.
- 1:00:20Shohei, on the other hand, he pitches every five
- 1:00:23days. If he's healthy, right, pitch every five
- 1:00:27days, he's hitting in every game. And I guess
- 1:00:31you would look at that and you would say, yeah,
- 1:00:34that's obviously not as tough as playing both
- 1:00:37sides of the field in football. Now I will say
- 1:00:41though, it's tough to do what Shohei's doing
- 1:00:45to hit 50 some home runs and then also dominate
- 1:00:49pitching. So it's a little bit different there,
- 1:00:52right? Now obviously again, he's not playing
- 1:00:55every every game in the field. He doesn't play
- 1:00:58the field. So at least he is pitching and pitching
- 1:01:01is putting that that's that's work to pitch six
- 1:01:04innings seven innings 90 to 100 pitches and then
- 1:01:08go out there and when it's your time to hit crush
- 1:01:11the ball like we talked about before. This is
- 1:01:14something baseball's never seen. It's it is not
- 1:01:18like another baseball. Normal baseball players
- 1:01:20you talk about. because he can and I think I've
- 1:01:23even said it I was like well he doesn't play
- 1:01:24the field but he does pitch pitching is a little
- 1:01:28bit harder than just playing the field you might
- 1:01:30get a ball hit to you in your position right
- 1:01:33and then you go up there and hit so they act
- 1:01:35like you know Shohei is not doing something just
- 1:01:38because he doesn't play the field and he's the
- 1:01:40dh but then like I said when he is asked to play
- 1:01:43he is pitching Again, that's a lot of work on
- 1:01:45him. That's a lot of that's a lot of work and
- 1:01:47and again for him to do it as well as he does
- 1:01:50We have to give again. I always say everybody's
- 1:01:53giving him credit. He's about to be a four -time
- 1:01:54MVP. So In that respect it is tough what he's
- 1:02:01doing to dominate pitching and hitting But again,
- 1:02:05I'm no dummy again physically it is tough to
- 1:02:09play both sides of the field in football I will
- 1:02:12say though I don't see anyone dominating both
- 1:02:17sides of the field in football. Dion was really
- 1:02:21good at defense, obviously, one of the best cornerback
- 1:02:24ever. And then he was a pretty good receiver,
- 1:02:28right? But he was also returning kicks as well.
- 1:02:32So we could really say Dion was playing three
- 1:02:34phases of the game, maybe the greatest athlete,
- 1:02:37he should be up there in the greatest athlete
- 1:02:39ever. So for Travis Hunter, again, I think if
- 1:02:42you play every down, Like college, Travis Hunter
- 1:02:44was the man, right? He was dominating both sides
- 1:02:46of the ball. So if you play a lot of the snaps
- 1:02:51on both sides and you're getting the picks and
- 1:02:53you're getting the catches and the touchdowns,
- 1:02:56then we got a lot to say there. But obviously,
- 1:02:59once again, just to get back physically, there's
- 1:03:02no brainer. Football is tougher to physically
- 1:03:05play. But then on the flip side, again, baseball
- 1:03:08is, again, to hit a baseball is the hardest thing
- 1:03:10to do in sports. You really you really played
- 1:03:16both sides there, man. I know I don't have a
- 1:03:19take, you know I think it's just a fun conversation
- 1:03:21to break down both ways, right? It is and I and
- 1:03:25I will say I Valid points and you're right. I
- 1:03:29I wanted I Do think if you took if you took both
- 1:03:32of them and put them side by side It's harder
- 1:03:36to do it in football because of the physical
- 1:03:38nature of the game and not only that but the
- 1:03:41unpredictability of what can happen on any plane
- 1:03:44where with with pitching you see the ball coming
- 1:03:49you know with when you're batting you see the
- 1:03:54ball coming you know running bases and like it's
- 1:03:57just like the injuries that take place in in
- 1:04:00baseball is just different yeah there's there's
- 1:04:03not the chance of you I mean, obviously, technically,
- 1:04:05there is a chance in any sport. But the chances
- 1:04:08of you having something happen to you that you
- 1:04:10don't see coming is just, it's slimmer than it
- 1:04:12is in football. So that's just on one thing.
- 1:04:16But I'm going to switch this just a little bit.
- 1:04:18And I'm going to use Deion as an example, because
- 1:04:21the comparisons between Travis Hunter and Deion
- 1:04:23are obvious. Clearly, Travis Hunter played for
- 1:04:25Colorado when Deion was the coach, recruited
- 1:04:27him there, star player, playing on both sides.
- 1:04:31We got all of that. But what I'd like for Travis
- 1:04:35Hunter to do is to take a look at Dion Prime
- 1:04:39Tom Sanders right now and take a look and see
- 1:04:45The suffering that his body has taken. Yeah as
- 1:04:50an older who's still in great shape You see that
- 1:04:54he's had, you know, cancer, which obviously this
- 1:04:57may or may not have, you know, been football
- 1:04:59related and what not, but he's had, you know,
- 1:05:01toes amputated. He's walking with a little bit
- 1:05:03of a limp. He's a beaten up former athlete, one
- 1:05:08of the greatest athletes of all time. And in
- 1:05:12his golden years when he has an opportunity to
- 1:05:14be a really, really good coach, his health is
- 1:05:17suffering. And I want Travis Hunter to take this
- 1:05:19as an opportunity to say, hey, I have a chance
- 1:05:23to pick one. So either play defensive, be a great
- 1:05:26defensive player, or be a fantastic wide receiver.
- 1:05:30And I think he has the talent to be able to pick
- 1:05:33one and be great and amazing at it. I'd like
- 1:05:36for him to just consider it because one thing
- 1:05:39that Deion had that Travis Hunter doesn't really
- 1:05:42have is Deion was stout. Like Deion was a bigger
- 1:05:46guy. Travis Hunter's really slim. He's a lighter
- 1:05:50guy and he's young and his youth and athleticism
- 1:05:54are gonna carry him for these first couple of
- 1:05:55years Then shits gonna start to hurt then it's
- 1:05:59gonna be tougher for you to get out of bed and
- 1:06:02So I would like to see him and not only that
- 1:06:06this is just his first year. So I'm gonna be
- 1:06:08fair to him This is his rookie year he's he's
- 1:06:11now coming in and he's trying to find his way,
- 1:06:15but The way this season is going for him statistically
- 1:06:18on both sides, I think it'd be smart for him
- 1:06:21as a player to sit down and try not to reinvent
- 1:06:24the wheel and try not to do something that insurmountable
- 1:06:30as to play on both sides and just pick one thing
- 1:06:33and be a master of that and then allow that to
- 1:06:38translate your greatness to everyone. Maybe they
- 1:06:40throw them in if they need a super athletic guy
- 1:06:43on a big play, sure, but Week to week, game to
- 1:06:48game, I just don't think it's wise for him, and
- 1:06:51I think it's tougher. It's different for Shohei,
- 1:06:53man. At some point, Shohei Otani's gonna stop
- 1:06:56hitting and pitching. It's gonna happen. He's
- 1:06:57not gonna do it for his entire career, I guarantee
- 1:07:00it. I'll put any amount of money on it, and it'll
- 1:07:02be quicker than you think, because I really think
- 1:07:04he's only got about three or four more years,
- 1:07:06and then they just say, you know what, dude,
- 1:07:07we're just gonna make you our ace. we don't need
- 1:07:10you to bat his numbers are going to fall as he
- 1:07:12ages these are the things that are going to happen
- 1:07:15it's great while it lasts but i'd like to see
- 1:07:18him shift the both of those guys i'd like to
- 1:07:20see them ship things because you only get one
- 1:07:22paycheck they can't pay you for playing two positions
- 1:07:26as great as otani is and as great as hunter is
- 1:07:29so so to respond to that dion obviously anytime
- 1:07:33you play football for a long time We see all
- 1:07:37these football players, you know, it takes a
- 1:07:39toll on your body. And I didn't even mention,
- 1:07:41like I said, he's playing, he played three phases
- 1:07:42of the game and then he went and played baseball.
- 1:07:45So, and played baseball. But you see with like
- 1:07:47Travis Hunter and Shohei, Shohei, Travis Hunter
- 1:07:49now out for the season with an injury. So like
- 1:07:52you said, his body is already his first year.
- 1:07:54He didn't make it through half the season. So
- 1:07:57he's already hurt out for the year. Shohei's
- 1:08:00already had arm, arm issue surgery. He bounced
- 1:08:03back. Pitched this year, obviously won the World
- 1:08:05Series, pitched in it. But yeah, for Shohei,
- 1:08:09I would be, I agree with that. I don't, he will
- 1:08:12not do both forever. I give him three, four more
- 1:08:15years. He will give up the pitching and he would
- 1:08:18just be a DH because obviously normally you can
- 1:08:23last longer hitting than pitching. We do have
- 1:08:25the, you know, every once in a while you get
- 1:08:27the Nolan Ryan, Justin Verlanders that pitch
- 1:08:30into their forties. So. Max Scherzer, again,
- 1:08:34he just pitched in the World Series too. So every
- 1:08:36once in a while, but arm issues are real in baseball.
- 1:08:39That's the biggest thing. Like you talked about
- 1:08:40injuries. So for Shohei, if we're talking about
- 1:08:43now picking a side, yeah, eventually I think
- 1:08:46he probably will be just a DH and hit. And Travis
- 1:08:49Hunter, again, it's up to him and the Jaguars
- 1:08:51to figure out, because they gave up a lot to
- 1:08:53get him. So they got to figure out then what's
- 1:08:56best and where's he going to help them the most
- 1:08:58and what's his best position. Yeah, and I and
- 1:09:03I the only thing I'm going to disagree with is
- 1:09:06this isn't a decision for the Jaguars We see
- 1:09:09what the Jaguar the Jaguars will run you into
- 1:09:11the ground. It's not a decision for them to make
- 1:09:14I think it's on hunter Okay, I think he needs
- 1:09:16to be smart. I think he needs to be smart and
- 1:09:17he needs to think about Forget I mean I went
- 1:09:21way into his his post football future Okay, even
- 1:09:26if he's just thinking about his actual football
- 1:09:28future his literal football future And look at
- 1:09:32what happened to him in year one, where everyone
- 1:09:35is a supreme athlete that you're on the field
- 1:09:37with. Your teammates and the defenses that you're
- 1:09:39playing. And it ended this season early, halfway
- 1:09:42through the year with an LCL injury. So keep
- 1:09:46those things in mind, young man. The league is
- 1:09:48never going to protect you. Because if he shreds
- 1:09:50his knees up and he's done. I mean, just think
- 1:09:52about it. We talked about this a couple of episodes
- 1:09:54before. Think about how fantastic RG3 was, man.
- 1:10:00RG3 was a stud athlete. One knee injury ruined
- 1:10:06his career. As a quarterback, ruined his career.
- 1:10:10So as great as Travis Hunter is, this could set
- 1:10:13you back and ruin your production to bake a living
- 1:10:17in the NFL. And you mentioned past episodes,
- 1:10:21we talked about the frailty of like a Jaden Daniels
- 1:10:24and Bryce Young, and we weren't even thinking
- 1:10:26about non -quarterbacks like Travis Hunter. He's
- 1:10:29a slim guy gotta bulk up a little bit and then
- 1:10:32you know Probably smart then if you know if you're
- 1:10:34gonna be small then you got to pick a side Yeah,
- 1:10:38pick a side man and just imperfect it and he's
- 1:10:40great enough at both sides to where if he doubted
- 1:10:44to be the league's best DB He can absolutely
- 1:10:48do it. Same thing with the wide receiver. If
- 1:10:50you want to be the guy who's celebrating in the
- 1:10:52end zone scoring touchdowns, you can focus and
- 1:10:54do that too. But, but doing this back and forth,
- 1:10:57playing both sides of the ball, thinking that,
- 1:10:58you know, you're, you're the iron man. Those
- 1:11:01days are numbered. I'm gonna close this out.
- 1:11:04I mean, I don't know how fun a topic that was,
- 1:11:06but I think it's fun if you think about which
- 1:11:09one's tougher and which one's better, which one's
- 1:11:11easier. I'm not gonna give you an answer, but
- 1:11:13I think we can both. I mean, I don't think there's
- 1:11:17an answer. I mean, like you said, I think we
- 1:11:18agree it's tougher in football, but I think we
- 1:11:21both can agree you are a superior super athlete
- 1:11:24if you're doing what either of these men are
- 1:11:26doing. Well, and I'll end it with this, and this
- 1:11:31is to give Shohei his flowers, even though he
- 1:11:32doesn't need them from me. We see what his greatness
- 1:11:37is and what has resulted in winning World Series.
- 1:11:42For him to be able to do that at the highest
- 1:11:44level. It answers the question. We know that
- 1:11:48it's a very hard, difficult thing to do. He did
- 1:11:51it at the highest level on the world's stage,
- 1:11:54and it results in championships. So kudos to
- 1:11:57him. And it is a tough thing to do, and it's
- 1:12:00the only reason why the only people that can
- 1:12:02compare him to is Baber. Yeah, and that right
- 1:12:05there says enough, right? Just show he plays
- 1:12:08against more than white people. That's all I
- 1:12:10got to say. Yeah, he does. Yeah, those Dominican
- 1:12:14guys are there. Everybody. Everybody there. All
