- 0:00Speaker 1: This podcast is recorded on gaddigal Land, Always was, always
- 0:03Speaker 1: will be Aboriginal Land. Hey Chicks, I'm out and I'm
- 0:13Speaker 1: sal And this is Two Road Chicks, the show that
- 0:15Speaker 1: shares life lessons and tips to help make you rich
- 0:18Speaker 1: in life.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Baby girl, and it's cozy, it's chili, and we're back
- 0:24Speaker 2: with the Hot Chick Winter Jacklist.
- 0:29Speaker 3: My favorite time of year. I was back cell. Honestly,
- 0:34Speaker 3: you've ascended. I do the reverse hibernation.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, you get seasonal depression reverse yeah yeah,
- 0:41Speaker 1: yeah yeah.
- 0:42Speaker 3: We do this episode every season, the Hot Chick Checklist,
- 0:46Speaker 3: because you chickies love it and we love it as well.
- 0:49Speaker 3: I think I always love going into a season and
- 0:52Speaker 3: being like, how can we refresh we glove, how can
- 0:54Speaker 3: we take advantage of the things that happen in this
- 0:56Speaker 3: season that like you don't get to enjoy any other
- 0:58Speaker 3: time of year, because why the fuck not?
- 1:00Speaker 1: I know, And I really like looking at the year
- 1:03Speaker 1: in pockets, like three month pockets. I think it's really
- 1:06Speaker 1: nice way to break it down and also have fun
- 1:08Speaker 1: throughout your year, and like, not every hobby needs to
- 1:12Speaker 1: be long term, Like it's just a nice way to
- 1:14Speaker 1: kind of cut it up.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Yeah, cedit it.
- 1:18Speaker 1: But before we get into the episode, sal what is
- 1:21Speaker 1: your obsession?
- 1:23Speaker 3: My obsession of the week is the new David Attenborough
- 1:26Speaker 3: documentary Ocean, which just came out. I saw it at
- 1:31Speaker 3: the movies recently, but surely it will be out soon
- 1:35Speaker 3: available to stream, and I think this is an absolute
- 1:39Speaker 3: must watch for everyone. I'm a huge fan of David Attenborough.
- 1:43Speaker 3: Basically anything that he puts out I'll watch.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Who isn't.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Honestly, as you may have guessed from the title of
- 1:49Speaker 3: the documentary, it is all about the ocean and the
- 1:53Speaker 3: importance of the ocean on our entire ecosystem, and this
- 1:58Speaker 3: documentary delves into so much that I definitely can't put
- 2:03Speaker 3: it all into words into one single recommendation. But I
- 2:07Speaker 3: think that from this documentary, you know, I learned a lot.
- 2:10Speaker 3: It is very confronting in some ways, like I learned
- 2:14Speaker 3: that apparently all of the world's reefs will be dead
- 2:19Speaker 3: in the next thirty years if we don't do something
- 2:22Speaker 3: about it now. But I did also learn that there
- 2:26Speaker 3: have been some places on the Earth where people have
- 2:28Speaker 3: put in like no touch and no fishing zones, and
- 2:32Speaker 3: the reefs have been able to regenerate themselves and that
- 2:35Speaker 3: not all hope is lost, and that there is going
- 2:38Speaker 3: to be a conference with the UN within a couple
- 2:41Speaker 3: of weeks where they're basically inviting all of the world
- 2:44Speaker 3: leaders involved in the UN to sign something to protect
- 2:48Speaker 3: thirty percent of our oceans. And if this goes through,
- 2:51Speaker 3: like this could have a huge impact on basically like
- 2:55Speaker 3: the future of the human race, because the thing is that,
- 2:58Speaker 3: like the earth will continue whether or not the human
- 3:01Speaker 3: racist there to say it, Like, you know, these things
- 3:04Speaker 3: do have a big impact. And I do think that
- 3:06Speaker 3: watching a documentary like this can it can be scary,
- 3:10Speaker 3: but it does give you a lot of hope. And
- 3:12Speaker 3: I do also think, like with the recent election and everything,
- 3:15Speaker 3: like it's just so important to you know, know that
- 3:18Speaker 3: your values are being acted out by the people who
- 3:21Speaker 3: are in charge and who have power, and yeah, just
- 3:24Speaker 3: know what's going on. So I definitely recommend watching it.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Pack the tissues.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Oh Okay, My obsession of the week, which I feel
- 3:31Speaker 1: kind of ties into our Hot Chick Winter checklist, is
- 3:35Speaker 1: the films you didn't realize were modern retellings of classic literature.
- 3:40Speaker 1: And I think all of these movies are potentially a
- 3:43Speaker 1: great little bucket list list for your movies for Winter
- 3:47Speaker 1: movie Night.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Yeah, so Clueless is.
- 3:50Speaker 1: The modern retelling of Emma by Jane Austen. Ten Things
- 3:53Speaker 1: I Hate About You is the modern retelling of Taming
- 3:56Speaker 1: of the Shrew by William Shakespeare.
- 3:59Speaker 2: And also just a ten out of ten movie.
- 4:01Speaker 3: That way we studied that in year ten was the best.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Treasure Planet is a retelling of Treasure Island, A bit
- 4:08Speaker 1: on the nose, so good though, Yeah, Treasure Planet is
- 4:11Speaker 1: so underrated. Bridget Jones's Diary and its novel are a
- 4:16Speaker 1: loose modern retelling of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Oliver and Company, like the animated movie is a modern
- 4:23Speaker 1: retelling of Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens.
- 4:26Speaker 3: Cute and yeah, I just I was like, oh, I love.
- 4:28Speaker 2: All these movies.
- 4:29Speaker 1: That's so cute, and it's kind of nice because sometimes
- 4:32Speaker 1: I know you will hate me for saying this.
- 4:33Speaker 2: The classics are classics, but you're like, Honey's a little
- 4:36Speaker 2: bit more juice.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I like that, like a retelling of a
- 4:40Speaker 3: story but in a way that you could watch it
- 4:43Speaker 3: and you would have no idea. Yeah, like I'm done
- 4:47Speaker 3: with the reboots, but yeah, retelling of a tale with
- 4:51Speaker 3: an important message I'm into.
- 4:54Speaker 1: My other obsession of the week is the new rental
- 4:58Speaker 1: laws that have just come into place to help protect
- 5:01Speaker 1: renters from no cause evictions and it also is really
- 5:07Speaker 1: going to help those who want to get pets. So
- 5:10Speaker 1: I'm going to read it direct from the Daily Ols
- 5:12Speaker 1: because I feel like they always put in a very
- 5:13Speaker 1: nice condensed version. So a ban on no fault evictions
- 5:17Speaker 1: is now an effect in New South Wales. It comes
- 5:20Speaker 1: several months after the State of Parliament passed a law
- 5:23Speaker 1: banning the practice which allowed landlords to end a lease
- 5:26Speaker 1: without giving their tenant a reason. So under this legislation,
- 5:30Speaker 1: notice periods for evictions will also be extended and tenants
- 5:34Speaker 1: will have a formal process to apply to keep a
- 5:38Speaker 1: pet not get a pet, which I think is a
- 5:41Speaker 1: very key term there. So no grounds or no fault
- 5:47Speaker 1: evictions mean landlords can end a lease without providing a reason,
- 5:51Speaker 1: but from today New South Wales landlords will have to
- 5:54Speaker 1: disclose a reason for ending the lease. This could include
- 5:58Speaker 1: plans to sell, renovate or movie into the property, or
- 6:01Speaker 1: if a tenant has damaged a property or not paid rent. Additionally,
- 6:05Speaker 1: landlords will only be able to deny requests to keep
- 6:08Speaker 1: a pet at a property for specific reasons such as
- 6:11Speaker 1: it being impossible to keep a pet humanly really good
- 6:15Speaker 1: seeing this come into act because rent is just don't
- 6:19Speaker 1: have enough protection and we've spoken about it a lot
- 6:22Speaker 1: on the podcast. The fact that we I mean, it's
- 6:25Speaker 1: good to see movements, but the fact that we still don't.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Have a cap on the percentage.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Of increase the landlords can increase rent every year is
- 6:34Speaker 1: still a bit wild, And I'm like, can we do
- 6:36Speaker 1: that one next please?
- 6:37Speaker 2: Can we put that on the to do list?
- 6:38Speaker 3: The next cab off the rank please?
- 6:40Speaker 1: But in the essence of being positive, this is really
- 6:44Speaker 1: really good to see because it is one of the
- 6:46Speaker 1: major setbacks that young people have is a lack of
- 6:50Speaker 1: power in their ability to rent and what they can
- 6:53Speaker 1: do as a renter.
- 6:54Speaker 2: So yeah, that is my obsession because I was like, yeah,
- 6:57Speaker 2: everyone go get a cat, Go get a cat, little
- 7:01Speaker 2: of it, love it.
- 7:02Speaker 3: Let's get into the checklist maybe, okay, South.
- 7:10Speaker 1: We always start this episode with our favorite topic, fashion trends.
- 7:16Speaker 2: Fashion trends, so we're going to get into the hot
- 7:20Speaker 2: chick winter fashion trends.
- 7:21Speaker 1: But as always a little disclaimer before we talk about
- 7:24Speaker 1: trends is that these are just fun. They're a great
- 7:26Speaker 1: way to experiment and see what works with your evergreen style.
- 7:30Speaker 1: If you don't like a trend, don't feel pressure to
- 7:33Speaker 1: take part in it. If you do like a trend,
- 7:35Speaker 1: have fun, play around and see if it fits your
- 7:37Speaker 1: evergreen style. And there's so many things that it's just
- 7:40Speaker 1: fun to experiment with and that I've found through trends
- 7:43Speaker 1: that I'm like, wait, say I love this, yeah exactly.
- 7:47Speaker 3: And I think a lot of the trends that we
- 7:49Speaker 3: have picked as well to share and highlight today are
- 7:52Speaker 3: things that you'll be able to shop from within your
- 7:54Speaker 3: own wardrobe or buy vintage and secondhand, which are always
- 7:58Speaker 3: our favorites as well. So Number one faux fur.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Oh my god, so chicks. We went to Australian Fashion Week.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Faufur was, by BAH the most common answer from creators
- 8:12Speaker 1: and attendees a fashion week, specifically colorful f yeah.
- 8:18Speaker 3: Which I think is really fun. And we did see
- 8:21Speaker 3: a little bit of this last year with the whole
- 8:23Speaker 3: mob wife aesthetic that came through, but I feel like
- 8:26Speaker 3: the colored fur takes it more to a whimsical, glam
- 8:30Speaker 3: rock fun place.
- 8:32Speaker 1: I personally lean more with jackets not too loud. I
- 8:38Speaker 1: think style and silhouette lean more into something unique there
- 8:43Speaker 1: rather than color. But also color is what you make it.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Like literally, fluror green could be a neutral color to
- 8:51Speaker 1: some people, you know what I mean. But I think
- 8:53Speaker 1: with faux fur, if you wanted to play around with
- 8:56Speaker 1: it as much.
- 8:57Speaker 2: As colorful fur is.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I personally lean more towards the neutrals or naturals
- 9:04Speaker 1: infau fur because I find those easier to style, and
- 9:08Speaker 1: it would be more of an evergreen style to have
- 9:11Speaker 1: in your wardrobe. Like I have a brown faux fur
- 9:13Speaker 1: jacket that I got from a Vinnie's that comes out
- 9:17Speaker 1: every season. Whereas I wonder, if you lean too far
- 9:21Speaker 1: into color and that's not your staple, how often are
- 9:24Speaker 1: you going to wear that, like every winter?
- 9:26Speaker 2: Just to ponder, just to be the devil's advocate, Yeah.
- 9:30Speaker 3: What do you think?
- 9:31Speaker 2: Are you a color fur or are you a neutral fur?
- 9:33Speaker 3: I think I am a neutral But color fur for
- 9:37Speaker 3: me is like an orange, yeah, which again is more
- 9:40Speaker 3: of an it is a natural color, but it still
- 9:44Speaker 3: adds like a pop of color. If I'm wearing an
- 9:46Speaker 3: all black outfit, for example.
- 9:48Speaker 1: What I really like about this trend and the way
- 9:50Speaker 1: it's being styled this winter is it's becoming more casual.
- 9:53Speaker 1: So traditionally, I feel like we've seen fur styled very
- 9:57Speaker 1: like glam, very like he mini dress, big fucking fur,
- 10:02Speaker 1: Whereas now we're getting this element that's like fur with
- 10:06Speaker 1: baggy jeans, a sneaker in a baseball cap. And I'm
- 10:09Speaker 1: living for it because do you know what that means?
- 10:11Speaker 1: Means cost paer wear is low, Yeah, exactly ten in
- 10:15Speaker 1: best in potentially a higher price point, good quality faux fur,
- 10:20Speaker 1: and wear it every day. It can become an everyday
- 10:22Speaker 1: jacket and you can style it casually. You can dress
- 10:25Speaker 1: it with your little slutty little miniskirt, your slutty little
- 10:28Speaker 1: stockings with the same at the back because you're a
- 10:30Speaker 1: little slutty girl and your high heels and I'm horney
- 10:35Speaker 1: that's a fit.
- 10:36Speaker 3: And speaking of slutty little stockings and miniskirts, that's another
- 10:40Speaker 3: trend that we've been seeing so layering micro shorts and
- 10:43Speaker 3: micro minis with stockings, which I also love because you
- 10:48Speaker 3: can play with the silhouette of your outfit with those things.
- 10:51Speaker 3: And then also you can wear something that you may
- 10:52Speaker 3: have bought during spring or summer and layer it with
- 10:55Speaker 3: a pair of stockings and get that cost per wear
- 10:58Speaker 3: and use throughout the season. Another modernization of this trend
- 11:01Speaker 3: that I've been seeing those so ow is the peekaboo
- 11:04Speaker 3: stockings or the peekaboo sock.
- 11:06Speaker 2: And basically, when you're wearing a knee high boot.
- 11:09Speaker 1: It's like this little peekaboo of a three quarter length
- 11:12Speaker 1: stocking sock or socks, and they kind of sit.
- 11:15Speaker 2: High up and they just come a little bit above
- 11:17Speaker 2: the shoe.
- 11:18Speaker 1: And I think it looks so cute, so amazing, and
- 11:22Speaker 1: it's gonna keep your leg very warm.
- 11:23Speaker 3: Yeah, it's also functional.
- 11:24Speaker 1: It's functional, which we love a functional fashion trend.
- 11:28Speaker 3: I also have been loving all of the cozy accessories
- 11:31Speaker 3: that we've been seeing, chunky scarvesh hats, also those knitted
- 11:36Speaker 3: like snoods or cow like little beanies and you kind
- 11:39Speaker 3: of like tie them up under your neck.
- 11:40Speaker 1: I think that's the two thousands, Hey, Like that's the
- 11:42Speaker 1: two thousand coming back. Like the fluffy hats, those scarves,
- 11:46Speaker 1: especially the thin scarves we've been seeing those.
- 11:49Speaker 2: I know that's on your wish list, It is on
- 11:51Speaker 2: my wish list. Love those.
- 11:52Speaker 3: It takes me back to my childhood. But again functional,
- 11:56Speaker 3: and I think again, like if you're wearing an all
- 11:58Speaker 3: black outfit and then you have like a cute fairy
- 12:01Speaker 3: hat on or a little knitted snood, like how fucking cute?
- 12:05Speaker 3: Just adds a little point of interest. Also, men's wear,
- 12:08Speaker 3: we've been saying a lot this winter suit shirts, blazers,
- 12:12Speaker 3: they're not going anywhere, and a tailor. Yes, this I love.
- 12:17Speaker 1: I love because I've always leaned a little bit more
- 12:20Speaker 1: masculine in the way that I dress. I think when
- 12:23Speaker 1: I like kind of leant into my sexuality a bit more,
- 12:26Speaker 1: I definitely started dressing a little bit more unisex and masculine.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Women look so hot in suits. I need every everyone,
- 12:35Speaker 1: I need everyone to wear suits in winter with an
- 12:37Speaker 1: ex tie the hottest outfit a woman can wear. And
- 12:40Speaker 1: I think it's because I'm like, it's like the too
- 12:42Speaker 1: combined of like it's masculine and it's sermonin and it's
- 12:46Speaker 1: my bisexual dream.
- 12:47Speaker 3: Yeah, the bisexual panic.
- 12:49Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 12:50Speaker 3: I love that men's wear trend and the suiting and
- 12:52Speaker 3: the tailoring trend because it's all separates that again, you
- 12:56Speaker 3: can mix a match with other things, and you're not
- 12:58Speaker 3: having to go out and buy a completely different outfit
- 13:01Speaker 3: that you can only wear together to achieve the loop. Like, yes,
- 13:05Speaker 3: you can wear the matching blazer and tailored pants with
- 13:09Speaker 3: the tie, or you can mix and match those pieces,
- 13:11Speaker 3: which again cost effective. Grab your dad's tie, You're done,
- 13:16Speaker 3: good to go.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Another winter trend that I've been seeing is not necessarily
- 13:19Speaker 1: a specific item, but there is a massive rise and
- 13:23Speaker 1: focus on fiber composition education and garments that are made
- 13:29Speaker 1: with good quality fiber.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Five years ago, I don't think.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Anyone maybe a bit more five to ten years ago, right,
- 13:37Speaker 1: no one was picking up an item going what's.
- 13:39Speaker 2: This made of?
- 13:40Speaker 1: Maybe somewhere I don't mean to speak in generalizations, if
- 13:43Speaker 1: it was you collapse for you for head kiss, right,
- 13:46Speaker 1: But now we are so much more educated within fiber composition.
- 13:51Speaker 2: That when we're picking something up, we're checking, We're like,
- 13:53Speaker 2: what is this made of? Is it cotton? Is it wool?
- 13:56Speaker 1: Am I paying four hundred dollars for a polyester blazer
- 13:59Speaker 1: with ten wool?
- 14:01Speaker 2: And what does that look like?
- 14:02Speaker 1: And I think this trend and this education around fabric
- 14:06Speaker 1: and fiber composition of garments and clothes and sustainability is
- 14:10Speaker 1: just going to grow more and more and more, and
- 14:12Speaker 1: the quality of our shopping is going to increase, and
- 14:16Speaker 1: the quantity of our shopping is going to decrease because
- 14:19Speaker 1: we realize how much is just shit and that isn't
- 14:23Speaker 1: gonna last. Like, I was looking on an affordable site
- 14:27Speaker 1: this morning and there was this really nice knit jumper
- 14:30Speaker 1: and it was like an off the shoulder nit jump in.
- 14:32Speaker 1: It was a bit of a dupe of a more
- 14:33Speaker 1: expensive one, right, And I was looking at it and I.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Was gonna buy it.
- 14:37Speaker 1: But then I had the moment and I was like,
- 14:40Speaker 1: there is no way this is going to last to
- 14:42Speaker 1: my next winter.
- 14:43Speaker 2: There's no way. And whilst yes it is affordable.
- 14:48Speaker 1: For me right now, next winter when I've got to
- 14:51Speaker 1: repurchase it, I basically should have just bought the expensive
- 14:55Speaker 1: version that's gonna last me a long time.
- 14:58Speaker 2: And yes, I know that sounds so freaking obvious.
- 15:01Speaker 1: But I just like that now that's coming into my
- 15:05Speaker 1: shopping process, it's coming into a lot of our shopping
- 15:08Speaker 1: process that yes, it's.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Very easy to have the knee jerk and being like.
- 15:11Speaker 3: Oh my god, that's so cute. Sorry cheap, it's dope.
- 15:13Speaker 1: But being like, oh, but this is like I want
- 15:16Speaker 1: to wear this a lot, Yeah, and have it with
- 15:19Speaker 1: you from season to season, which I also think is
- 15:23Speaker 1: important and especially with nitwear something like that.
- 15:26Speaker 2: That's what I was looking at.
- 15:27Speaker 3: Yeah, nitwear. I'm like, I was gonna ask you, where
- 15:31Speaker 3: is one of your favorite places to get affordable but
- 15:34Speaker 3: good quality nitwear or somewhere where you think it matches
- 15:37Speaker 3: the price point at least if you want.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Good quality, affordable knitwear, run to Uniclo. They have literally
- 15:45Speaker 1: the best bang for your buck nitwear ever. Every year
- 15:48Speaker 1: we post about it every year, it goes viral and
- 15:52Speaker 1: it truly is just soft, beautiful, cozy, warm bury me
- 15:56Speaker 1: in it.
- 15:57Speaker 2: They have such good quality bank for your buck.
- 15:59Speaker 1: They have one one hundred percent cashme jumpers nitwear cardigans
- 16:04Speaker 1: for one hundred and twenty nine ninety which, whilst that
- 16:07Speaker 1: number still is a splurge, if you were to go
- 16:10Speaker 1: to a higher end or another seller and find one
- 16:13Speaker 1: hundred percent cashme, you're probably going to be paying like
- 16:15Speaker 1: four hundred dollars plus. Like, it's stunning, it's amazing, it's brave. Also,
- 16:19Speaker 1: their basics, like long sleeves, they've got one hundred percent
- 16:22Speaker 1: cotton or ninety three percent cotton. It's a high percentage
- 16:26Speaker 1: cotton for a really affordable price point of sometimes less
- 16:29Speaker 1: than twenty dollars. So the other thing that I do
- 16:32Speaker 1: love about Uniclo, this should be an ad, it's not.
- 16:35Speaker 1: The other thing I love is that when you go
- 16:37Speaker 1: into Uniclo you do not see micro trends. Again, micro
- 16:42Speaker 1: trends are not the devil. Uniclode does not follow micro trends.
- 16:47Speaker 1: It follows your basics, right, So what you're getting at
- 16:51Speaker 1: a really high quality is going to be really easy
- 16:54Speaker 1: to fit into the standard wardrobe foundation, which is what
- 16:59Speaker 1: that's what I like about them, and that because they're
- 17:01Speaker 1: at such a high quality, you're going to get the
- 17:03Speaker 1: year in year's worth out of it.
- 17:05Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly, you know what what you're going to get
- 17:07Speaker 3: when you work in basically. Another brand that I really
- 17:10Speaker 3: like for knitwear is Assembly Label. I would say that
- 17:14Speaker 3: they're not as affordable as Uniclo, but they I would
- 17:18Speaker 3: say they sit in the moderate price point for the
- 17:22Speaker 3: fabric composition. They also have one hundred percent cashmere and
- 17:25Speaker 3: really good quality pieces that would sit more so around
- 17:28Speaker 3: the two hundred dollar mark. However, what I will say
- 17:32Speaker 3: is they regularly participate in sale events, so I have
- 17:36Speaker 3: never bought any of my nitwear from their full price.
- 17:39Speaker 3: I always wait for the click frenzies or the after
- 17:41Speaker 3: pay days because they regularly do go on sale. And
- 17:46Speaker 3: I love the silhouettes and the styles of the jumpers
- 17:48Speaker 3: that they have there as well and the colors, so
- 17:51Speaker 3: I like to look to them as well for that.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Okay, shall we get into broad Ay, So I want
- 17:59Speaker 1: to chat through our winter cozy girl skincare regime.
- 18:04Speaker 2: And it's not stops, it swaps.
- 18:07Speaker 1: So when we're entering winter, because it's chili, she's cold,
- 18:11Speaker 1: she's windy, you would assume that your skin is drier
- 18:15Speaker 1: in summer because it's hot. Yeah, but it's drier in winter, which,
- 18:19Speaker 1: like when I first found that out, I was like,
- 18:20Speaker 1: this doesn't make sense, but it does because science and
- 18:24Speaker 1: really leaning into a hydrating routine in winter is going
- 18:29Speaker 1: to create a skincare regime that is chef's kiss. So
- 18:34Speaker 1: some things you can do to create a winter skincare
- 18:36Speaker 1: routine is swapping gel cleanses for cream, milky or balm cleanses.
- 18:42Speaker 1: The Alpha H cleansing balm is literally.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Ride or die, we love it.
- 18:49Speaker 1: You also want to add a hydrating serum or facial
- 18:53Speaker 1: oil especially or potentially even swap it out for those
- 18:56Speaker 1: chemical expliences that are really really harsh because they.
- 18:59Speaker 3: Can dry out your skin.
- 19:01Speaker 1: Do not skip SBF just because the sun's hiding. There
- 19:05Speaker 1: have been studies that show the UV is actually stronger
- 19:09Speaker 1: on a cloudy day because the sun rays pushed through more.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Yeah, which I'm like, oh fuck.
- 19:15Speaker 1: And Also, if you're inside, you still need to be
- 19:17Speaker 1: putting on SPF, even if you're not leaving the house
- 19:20Speaker 1: that day because you're like not going out there, you
- 19:22Speaker 1: still need to put on the SPF because the UV
- 19:24Speaker 1: rays can still come through your window. Yeah, you want
- 19:27Speaker 1: to swap your lip gloss for a lip.
- 19:31Speaker 3: Mask or balm.
- 19:32Speaker 2: It gives the same look.
- 19:34Speaker 1: Honestly, it gives the same look, and you always you
- 19:36Speaker 1: can swap it back if you want. And then, last,
- 19:39Speaker 1: but not least, is a hydrating shower routine incorporating a
- 19:44Speaker 1: shower oil and then a balm before bed to really lock.
- 19:49Speaker 2: In the hydration and get that get that in there.
- 19:52Speaker 3: Yeah, go full glazed donut.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Literally, like, as a dry skin girl, Winter is my
- 19:57Speaker 1: final boss. Yeah, And like I'm out here faked tanning
- 20:03Speaker 1: and Tiger Cobb loafing.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Yeah, even if it's just the neck and the hand.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Yeah, no, we're not doing full body faked Hans in winter.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Gama near no Na.
- 20:13Speaker 3: What about you?
- 20:14Speaker 1: What do you always kind of incorporate into your beauty
- 20:16Speaker 1: routine in winter?
- 20:18Speaker 3: During winter, I like to double down with the hydration,
- 20:20Speaker 3: the body hydration, So I'll do an oil and then
- 20:25Speaker 3: I also do a moisturizer too, and I'll just double
- 20:28Speaker 3: down on both because again I also get really dry,
- 20:31Speaker 3: especially on my arms and legs. It's also I think
- 20:34Speaker 3: a bit of a romanticization because you're not leaving the
- 20:38Speaker 3: house as much, So a bit of an at home
- 20:40Speaker 3: pamper can kind of give you a little bit of
- 20:44Speaker 3: romance in your every day because you're not going out
- 20:46Speaker 3: as much. You're not going to the beach, like if
- 20:48Speaker 3: it's raining the Hot Girl walks maybe not there, yeah exactly,
- 20:53Speaker 3: And like putting on your cozy flannel at Pj's and
- 20:56Speaker 3: I just feel like mine always smell like a beautiful potion.
- 20:59Speaker 1: On that Hot Girl winter checklist. A good pair of
- 21:03Speaker 1: Flanelette pajamas.
- 21:05Speaker 2: I will die.
- 21:06Speaker 1: On this hill that like Flanelet sheets, Flanelet pajamas, are
- 21:11Speaker 1: the best investment you can make in winter, and they
- 21:14Speaker 1: don't even have to be expensive bed, bathroom table. Their
- 21:17Speaker 1: pjs are not only like the cutest prints fucking ever,
- 21:20Speaker 1: but you can get matching Flanelet sheets to match your pajamas.
- 21:25Speaker 2: And chef's kiss on a kiss.
- 21:29Speaker 1: I love them, and I always go like, way too
- 21:32Speaker 1: big of my size because I love my lack pajamas
- 21:36Speaker 1: being oversized and kind of like falling off. I know
- 21:40Speaker 1: that sounds weird, but I don't like anything tight.
- 21:44Speaker 3: That kind of relates to my next thing on the
- 21:48Speaker 3: Hot Chick Winter checklist, and it's low cost ways to
- 21:51Speaker 3: heat your shitty sharehouse apartment. I remember in my first
- 21:55Speaker 3: share house it would be colder inside than it was outside,
- 22:00Speaker 3: and what's up with that? I don't know. It's the
- 22:02Speaker 3: way that, like a lot of apartments and buildings in
- 22:05Speaker 3: Sydney especially are insulated. Yeah, so we've got some low
- 22:10Speaker 3: cost options to heat your apartment. You did mention this one.
- 22:14Speaker 3: Swap your cotton or linen bedding for flanelette or jersey
- 22:17Speaker 3: something a little bit cozier. I saw somebody say, don't
- 22:21Speaker 3: try and warm up the room, warm up your body,
- 22:26Speaker 3: and I was like that's.
- 22:27Speaker 1: Actually I hate that because it means that our dads
- 22:32Speaker 1: were right all along whenever you would try to put
- 22:35Speaker 1: the heater on and he'd be like, go put on
- 22:37Speaker 1: a jumper, and you'd be.
- 22:38Speaker 3: Like, I know, I know. But it's once you live
- 22:42Speaker 3: in your own apartment out at home and you have
- 22:45Speaker 3: to pay those you understand, and I know that you
- 22:49Speaker 3: have had a really good electric blanket recommendation in the past,
- 22:53Speaker 3: but you also can opt for a hot water bottle
- 22:56Speaker 3: or a heat pack.
- 22:57Speaker 2: Do you know what I've got?
- 22:57Speaker 1: Another recommendation is a wool mattress topper. So my sister
- 23:02Speaker 1: bought this for me, and it's basically a reversible mattress
- 23:06Speaker 1: topper and one side's wool and one side's cotton, and
- 23:10Speaker 1: so when it's winter, you flip it over and you
- 23:11Speaker 1: have the wool side and honestly exactly the same as
- 23:15Speaker 1: an electric blanket in my eyes, and cheaper because it
- 23:18Speaker 1: doesn't run electricity, and potentially safer because you kind of
- 23:22Speaker 1: hear horror stories with electric blankets, but my experience has
- 23:25Speaker 1: never been that.
- 23:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I really love that because it is something that
- 23:28Speaker 3: you can use through the seasons. Also, getting a door snake.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Stop we're getting old, but I'm just saying.
- 23:35Speaker 3: I know, I love it.
- 23:37Speaker 2: It's giving Grandma call fully.
- 23:39Speaker 3: Also like adding a rug to your room.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I mean my whole apartment's carpet.
- 23:44Speaker 3: But if you have like tiles or yeah, or even
- 23:47Speaker 3: if you do have yeah, if you do have floorwards,
- 23:49Speaker 3: or if you do have carpet, if you add a rug,
- 23:51Speaker 3: it just adds extra insulation. And then I feel like.
- 23:56Speaker 2: My dad, Okay, hit me, but hit me.
- 24:00Speaker 3: She was right fuck all along keeping the windows open
- 24:04Speaker 3: during the day to let the sun in, and then
- 24:06Speaker 3: as the sun is setting, that's when you close the
- 24:09Speaker 3: blinds to trap the heat in. I don't like that,
- 24:11Speaker 3: I know, but it's justice practical, and our dads.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Were right on that note of kind of bringing in
- 24:19Speaker 1: your winter space, like you know how you kind of
- 24:22Speaker 1: have your spring reset and your spring clean. There's definitely
- 24:26Speaker 1: like a winter rebalance, which I am obsessed with, you know,
- 24:30Speaker 1: I love like a rebalance of your habitat where you
- 24:32Speaker 1: put the winter sheets on, maybe you put like your
- 24:35Speaker 1: summer clothing under the bed, and you put your winter
- 24:38Speaker 1: clothing back in your wardrobe.
- 24:40Speaker 2: You get your winter jamis.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Because we've said this in last year's one as well
- 24:45Speaker 1: lean into restfulness in winter. So winter is for rest,
- 24:51Speaker 1: not for rot, because again I love a good rot,
- 24:57Speaker 1: but she's a slippery slope. And again with this time
- 24:59Speaker 1: of year, we all can get pretty tired, and midyear
- 25:03Speaker 1: can be a little bit of a slump.
- 25:05Speaker 2: I think.
- 25:06Speaker 1: I think we can sometimes look at maybe the things
- 25:08Speaker 1: we wanted to achieve this year and we look back
- 25:10Speaker 1: and we're like, oh, well, gave up on that.
- 25:12Speaker 2: I can't do that, I can't do that.
- 25:14Speaker 1: It's a really good time for like a midyear reset,
- 25:16Speaker 1: but not one that puts pressure on you, one that
- 25:18Speaker 1: gives you space to rest, lay down and kind of
- 25:23Speaker 1: have a little bit of a gentle moment that's not
- 25:26Speaker 1: necessarily productive, but not the not not that you know
- 25:31Speaker 1: what I mean.
- 25:32Speaker 3: So like when you still feed your.
- 25:35Speaker 1: Souls, yes, things that are still fuel you, but you're
- 25:38Speaker 1: not exhausted. So like journaling, Like I know that this
- 25:42Speaker 1: is the most boring recommendation because every fucking man and
- 25:45Speaker 1: their dog and mel Robun's jupe has like literally said
- 25:48Speaker 1: to journal, but I'm like it's so fun and like
- 25:51Speaker 1: get a fuck off cute notebook, like get something fun
- 25:55Speaker 1: to do it in try a new winter morning routine.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Like I know, again this is so and such a
- 26:03Speaker 1: simple thing, but I have been obsessed with mockers this winter,
- 26:08Speaker 1: Like and I normally drink iced coffees all year three
- 26:10Speaker 1: because I'm a hychopath, or having like a little Sunday
- 26:13Speaker 1: fun day, get a fucking board game, play some board games,
- 26:17Speaker 1: watch some movies, read a book that has nothing to
- 26:20Speaker 1: do with self betterment. It's like the three months do
- 26:23Speaker 1: not need to be a complete ride off, Like you
- 26:26Speaker 1: still should enjoy your time. And I think this new
- 26:29Speaker 1: mentality is kind of how I'm like half curing my
- 26:32Speaker 1: seasonal depression because like I notoriously hate winter because I'm like,
- 26:37Speaker 1: what is that a jo?
- 26:38Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's more about okay, let's find some cozy
- 26:41Speaker 2: things to do.
- 26:42Speaker 3: Yeah. I love that. That kind of leans into the
- 26:44Speaker 3: next thing on my checklist, which is leaning into indore hobbies.
- 26:48Speaker 3: They are best done during winter, so things like knitting
- 26:53Speaker 3: and crochet.
- 26:54Speaker 2: I am in this era. Yeah, I said it.
- 26:56Speaker 1: At the sad of the year, I was like, the
- 26:57Speaker 1: hot girl hobby this year will be knitting.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Yeah, watch this fucking space, Like you don't have.
- 27:02Speaker 3: To go out and buy the best of the best
- 27:04Speaker 3: if it's yeah, and they're like fifteen dollars. They have
- 27:09Speaker 3: so many amazing little knitting and crochets.
- 27:12Speaker 2: You know, it's really good about it.
- 27:13Speaker 1: It keeps your hands busy so that you're not doing
- 27:15Speaker 1: scrolling late at night exactly when you're watching Telly.
- 27:18Speaker 2: You just do a little bit n in Yeah, and.
- 27:21Speaker 3: It's just like a cute creative outlet. Also coloring in
- 27:24Speaker 3: books you can get them from Kmart as well, and yeah,
- 27:26Speaker 3: like ten dollars, and they're the ones that you've probably
- 27:28Speaker 3: seen all over TikTok and Pinterest, and they have different categories.
- 27:32Speaker 3: It's like cozy cute or cozy calm, and they're these
- 27:35Speaker 3: little cartoon bears and they'll be like on a picnic
- 27:39Speaker 3: and they're a little bit more simplified. So I do
- 27:41Speaker 3: feel like they are more achievable. And I've seen so
- 27:44Speaker 3: many girlies out there having coloring in nights with their friends,
- 27:48Speaker 3: which I love that because it's something that you can
- 27:50Speaker 3: do solo, or you can make it a social activity
- 27:53Speaker 3: to do at home during winter two, which I do
- 27:55Speaker 3: think is so cute. And speaking of more social things,
- 27:58Speaker 3: have like a potluck dinner, get like a group of
- 28:01Speaker 3: your friends be like you're on entrees, you're on dessert.
- 28:04Speaker 3: I've got the main and get people to bring a
- 28:06Speaker 3: potlark and you can host a little dinner party that's
- 28:09Speaker 3: cozy and cute indoors.
- 28:12Speaker 1: I do like the lack of pressure to be social
- 28:15Speaker 1: in winter, but I think again slippery slope that you
- 28:19Speaker 1: can kind of come out and be like cool servants.
- 28:21Speaker 1: See my friends for like three months and I'm feeling depressed,
- 28:24Speaker 1: and that could.
- 28:24Speaker 3: Potentially be why.
- 28:26Speaker 1: But I do like how like it's not an every
- 28:28Speaker 1: weekend thing in winter.
- 28:30Speaker 3: Exactly, and it's just a different kind of vibe.
- 28:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:32Speaker 3: One thing that I love about like going out in
- 28:35Speaker 3: winter is swapping like a bar for like a pub
- 28:40Speaker 3: feed and home by nine o'clock vibe.
- 28:43Speaker 2: I'm all, I'm pubble you around like it's.
- 28:45Speaker 3: So cozy and footies on you're all rugged up. Yeah,
- 28:50Speaker 3: but yeah, love it.
- 28:51Speaker 1: My final item on the Hot Cheek Winter Check least
- 28:56Speaker 1: is to find your signature winter scent. So I kind
- 29:01Speaker 1: of I love like floral fragrances. They're super fun, but
- 29:05Speaker 1: they're for summer. I feel like winter perfumes are kind
- 29:08Speaker 1: of like a warm, cozy hug. They're spicy, they're sweet.
- 29:12Speaker 1: They kind of smell like a winter morning. So I
- 29:15Speaker 1: have some suggestions hit me, I know, because we all
- 29:18Speaker 1: love Like every time I talk about perfumes and fragrances
- 29:22Speaker 1: pops off. Yeah. Literally, the girlies love it and great
- 29:25Speaker 1: because I love talking about it. Okay, you'r use smell
- 29:28Speaker 1: nice winter fragrances. They're giving like winter smell nice rich
- 29:33Speaker 1: an't vibes. Yeah, cozy, sexy. Okay.
- 29:39Speaker 2: So Number one why I sell black Opium.
- 29:41Speaker 1: It's sweet coffee vanilla, white flowers, and it is a
- 29:45Speaker 1: cult favorite for a reason. Number two is the Kali
- 29:50Speaker 1: Vanilla twenty eight. I've recommended this before, but it truly
- 29:53Speaker 1: is like a vanilla y spicy.
- 29:57Speaker 2: Hot chocolate cafe. It's just so beautiful.
- 30:01Speaker 1: It's like viral on TikTok and yet rich, sweet, but
- 30:05Speaker 1: not cloying. It doesn't overwhelm your nose like some sweet
- 30:10Speaker 1: and spice fragrances can. Yeah. My next one is also
- 30:14Speaker 1: lazy Sunday morning sounds exactly as it is. It's like
- 30:19Speaker 1: Lily of the Valley iris, white mask, clean laundry. The
- 30:23Speaker 1: vibe is like waking up to fresh sheets on cold morning.
- 30:27Speaker 2: I know, and it is a splurge.
- 30:29Speaker 1: So I also have a more affordable recommendation and it
- 30:33Speaker 1: is the Lush Fragrances. If you want a fragrance that
- 30:38Speaker 1: people will stop you on the street and be like,
- 30:40Speaker 1: what the fuck are you wearing?
- 30:42Speaker 2: Go to Lush.
- 30:43Speaker 1: There are so many amazing fragrances that are so affordable,
- 30:48Speaker 1: long lasting, unique scents, and so many that are perfect
- 30:51Speaker 1: for winter. My favorite you smell nice fragrances from Lush
- 30:55Speaker 1: is let the good times roll, sticky dates. They also
- 30:59Speaker 1: have a new one called Bond Street nineteen seventy two
- 31:03Speaker 1: and this one is a clean green notes deliverer, sharp
- 31:07Speaker 1: first impression and is floral.
- 31:11Speaker 2: But like winter esque.
- 31:13Speaker 1: And it's an elegant floral perfume created by Lush perfumer
- 31:18Speaker 1: Emma for her own wedding day, and it's inspired by
- 31:22Speaker 1: her bridal bouquet of fragrant herbs and florals, so it
- 31:26Speaker 1: has notes of jasmine, absolute rose and yulangulang oils to
- 31:31Speaker 1: create a classical floral bouquet which is like perfect for winter.
- 31:35Speaker 3: I love that it was inspired by her wedding day.
- 31:38Speaker 2: I know it's gorge beautiful.
- 31:41Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I love it. I feel like, that's a
- 31:44Speaker 3: wrap on our Hot Chick winter checklist.
- 31:47Speaker 1: What movie you watching this winter? What movie do we
- 31:50Speaker 1: recommend the chicks, Let's finish on that Harry Potter. Yes,
- 31:54Speaker 1: the whole Harry Potter series is an absolute must binge
- 32:00Speaker 1: over the winter period.
- 32:01Speaker 3: Let's be real. I also love Little Women as a
- 32:05Speaker 3: winter watch because a lot of that is set during
- 32:07Speaker 3: winter and they're all cozy, oh round a fire. My
- 32:12Speaker 3: number one winter watch is Practical Magic. It's just perfect,
- 32:17Speaker 3: and I'm pretty sure I recommended it for autumn, and
- 32:19Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure I recommended it in October. We will
- 32:21Speaker 3: because it will be Halloween.
- 32:22Speaker 1: Well, like, there's never a bad time to watch Practical Magic.
- 32:25Speaker 1: It is the perfect movie and it deserves one hundred.
- 32:28Speaker 3: Percent of Rotten Tomatoes.
- 32:29Speaker 2: And I think it's a conspiracy that it doesn't have that.
- 32:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree. Yep, the math ain't mathing because that
- 32:35Speaker 3: movie is perfect.
- 32:36Speaker 1: Yep. Well, chicks, that is a wrap for today's episode
- 32:39Speaker 1: of Two Broat Chicks.
- 32:40Speaker 2: I hope you're feeling cozy. Thank you TEXC having us
- 32:42Speaker 2: in your ehels.
- 32:43Speaker 1: We love to be here, and shout out to mk
- 32:46Speaker 1: Maid for making this episode of Two Roat happen Oo
- 32:50Speaker 3: Mad my Chicks,
