- 1:31Speaker 1: I'm absolutely honored to be here with you, Kiki. As
- 1:34Speaker 1: you stated, my name is Trish Standley. I am a
- 1:37Speaker 1: retired independent gospel artist who merged into media. So I
- 1:44Speaker 1: am also a TV host who merged into a Well,
- 1:48Speaker 1: I've been a long time designer. I just actually started
- 1:51Speaker 1: just started getting my ideas out on papers. So I
- 1:54Speaker 1: have been a designer fashion designer for many years. And
- 1:59Speaker 1: then also I'm starting twenty twenty six, we just started
- 2:02Speaker 1: our very first nonprofit. So I am a busy girl
- 2:07Speaker 1: and I do a lot, but I am married. Excuse me.
- 2:10Speaker 1: I am married and I have a young adult daughter.
- 2:12Speaker 1: And I'm also I work for Corporate America and I
- 2:15Speaker 1: have been doing that for twenty seven years. So all
- 2:18Speaker 1: of that on top of doing what I love because
- 2:21Speaker 1: I love technology as well. So that's who I am.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Absolutely Well. I love that you have a lot of hats.
- 2:26Speaker 3: Are you wearing them? Well? So congratulations on all the
- 2:30Speaker 3: accolades and success. We talk about life, love and mindset,
- 2:34Speaker 3: so we are going to the mindset moment right now.
- 2:38Speaker 3: I have questions in this segment that I like to
- 2:40Speaker 3: ask because I just want to get into how you
- 2:44Speaker 3: think what mindset shifts changed the way you approach life.
- 2:48Speaker 1: I would say that I was in college and I
- 2:52Speaker 1: had a grandmother who had just passed. I wasn't able
- 2:56Speaker 1: to make the other grandmother's service, So when I came
- 3:00Speaker 1: home for the second service of that grandmother, my mother
- 3:04Speaker 1: took me to the grave site to see her mother's grave.
- 3:08Speaker 1: And while we were driving through there, my mother made
- 3:12Speaker 1: a comment she doesn't even remember to this day, but
- 3:16Speaker 1: she said, I wonder how many unlived dreams are lying
- 3:20Speaker 1: out here in the grave. And that changed everything for me.
- 3:25Speaker 1: I was about nineteen years old when that happened, and
- 3:28Speaker 1: so that has been really my drive. That's why I
- 3:33Speaker 1: do what I do because I don't want to be
- 3:36Speaker 1: because we're all going to go one day, but when
- 3:38Speaker 1: it's my time to go, I don't want to have
- 3:41Speaker 1: not kind of tapped into all of the gifting that
- 3:46Speaker 1: God has graced me with. So that is really, I guess,
- 3:50Speaker 1: the mindset that I have and the reason why I
- 3:52Speaker 1: do what I do is because I don't want to.
- 3:54Speaker 1: I want to leave here empty and I don't want
- 3:57Speaker 1: to have any talent not to if you.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Will, absolutely because our gifts make room for us, right
- 4:04Speaker 3: and we're doing ourselves as well as the world of
- 4:07Speaker 3: this service by sitting on our fingers and waiting on
- 4:11Speaker 3: things to happen. So exactly, I hate that it had
- 4:15Speaker 3: to have that type of resulation, you know, Yeah, chance
- 4:18Speaker 3: to have that happened. But I'm nineteen years old. You
- 4:22Speaker 3: know a lot of people wait or don't get that
- 4:25Speaker 3: revelation in today's before.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Yeah, and that's okay, it's okay because I didn't get
- 4:31Speaker 1: active in it until after I became a mother. Back
- 4:36Speaker 1: at nineteen, I was still in college and you know,
- 4:40Speaker 1: then you go through the phase of life where you
- 4:43Speaker 1: are trying to figure out your life. So I wanted
- 4:46Speaker 1: to make sure and I put more focus on my career,
- 4:49Speaker 1: which is how I got twenty seven years with AT
- 4:52Speaker 1: and T and so that's where my focus was. But
- 4:54Speaker 1: not until after I got married and had my daughter,
- 4:58Speaker 1: did I say, Okay, that's it. I've had my child,
- 5:02Speaker 1: I've got settled in this career, and now it's time
- 5:04Speaker 1: for me to walk out my purpose.
- 5:05Speaker 3: Yeah. Absolutely, absolutely. Let's talk a little bit about purpose.
- 5:09Speaker 3: When I know you said that you had, you know,
- 5:12Speaker 3: got married and had your child before you actually wanted
- 5:15Speaker 3: to walk into your purpose. So did your purpose? Did
- 5:18Speaker 3: you know what your purpose was prior to those things,
- 5:21Speaker 3: or did it kind of happen around the same time
- 5:23Speaker 3: of the marriage and the child.
- 5:26Speaker 1: No, it was it was afterwards, after I got married
- 5:30Speaker 1: and had my daughter. It's actually when I started singing.
- 5:33Speaker 1: I started singing professionally. I've been singing and writing music
- 5:36Speaker 1: since I was sixteen. So but when I started singing,
- 5:40Speaker 1: I really didn't want to do it, and I did
- 5:43Speaker 1: not want to do it. So God had to put
- 5:46Speaker 1: a little whooping on me and he dried up my
- 5:48Speaker 1: gifting and so that was a reality check for me.
- 5:52Speaker 1: So I would like to say, oh, yeah, I just flowed.
- 5:54Speaker 1: I just honey, he called and I went No, it
- 5:57Speaker 1: was none of that for me. I was operating in
- 6:00Speaker 1: a lot of disobedience, and in order for him to
- 6:02Speaker 1: get me back in line, I had to be obedient
- 6:06Speaker 1: and surrender to what he was saying to me, And
- 6:09Speaker 1: in doing so, that has always made me consult him
- 6:13Speaker 1: first in the things that I do, because I don't
- 6:16Speaker 1: want to be out there butt naked. I don't want
- 6:17Speaker 1: another whoopan and so if he's not with me, I
- 6:21Speaker 1: ain't going. So that is where I fell in line
- 6:25Speaker 1: with my purpose. I was actually at a conference, and
- 6:28Speaker 1: my prayer to God in that moment was other people
- 6:33Speaker 1: have told me what my call was. Other people have
- 6:34Speaker 1: told me what my purpose was. I need you to
- 6:37Speaker 1: tell me. I need to hear it, hear you speak
- 6:41Speaker 1: it to me. And that was when He revealed to
- 6:46Speaker 1: me what my purpose was. And it's funny because I
- 6:49Speaker 1: talk about my mom a lot in every interview that
- 6:51Speaker 1: I do. But my mother raised we had four I
- 6:55Speaker 1: have three sisters. I'm the youngest, and she said that
- 6:58Speaker 1: she prayed and asked God to lead and guide her
- 7:00Speaker 1: in the parenting of her children. And so she says
- 7:04Speaker 1: that God revealed to her that I would be in
- 7:06Speaker 1: front of people. She didn't know what in type of way,
- 7:09Speaker 1: what type of capacity, so she caused me. She i't
- 7:13Speaker 1: won't say it forced me, but she caused me to
- 7:15Speaker 1: have to go to modeling school. I had to learn etiquette,
- 7:18Speaker 1: how to carry myself, how to speak well, those type things,
- 7:21Speaker 1: because she said, I don't know what exactly He's got
- 7:23Speaker 1: for you to do, but he's gonna have it to
- 7:25Speaker 1: be for people, and I want you to be poised
- 7:27Speaker 1: in Polish.
- 7:29Speaker 3: I love that. I love that. You know, it's amazing
- 7:34Speaker 3: when confirmation happens. Yeah, and the obedience becomes the reality. Yeah.
- 7:40Speaker 3: A lot of people just see like the gl the
- 7:43Speaker 3: glamour and that and not realize.
- 7:46Speaker 1: What it took to get to that exactly exactly. It
- 7:52Speaker 1: took a lot of work and a lot of resistance
- 7:54Speaker 1: and a lot of butt whooping. And that's why they
- 7:56Speaker 1: all are The saying is, you know, be careful of
- 7:59Speaker 1: what she wished for what you see in other people,
- 8:01Speaker 1: because you don't know what it took to get them there.
- 8:04Speaker 1: And so that is the story of my life.
- 8:08Speaker 3: Yes, okay, Well what life experience, it mores you to
- 8:15Speaker 3: grow the most.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Well, what I would say my show. Part of the
- 8:19Speaker 1: reason why I was disobedient with singing is because I've all,
- 8:22Speaker 1: like I said, I've written my entire life, but I didn't.
- 8:24Speaker 1: I'm very intimate when it comes to my writing, and
- 8:26Speaker 1: so I didn't want to share it with the world.
- 8:28Speaker 1: You know, Erico Badu says his best I'm sensitive about
- 8:32Speaker 1: my you. So I did not want to share that
- 8:37Speaker 1: with the world so that they could pretty much tear
- 8:40Speaker 1: it apart. I was able to do that. The hardest
- 8:43Speaker 1: part for me was doing the talk show because doing
- 8:46Speaker 1: the talk show, I have to show a level of
- 8:49Speaker 1: vulnerability and a level of intimacy and honesty. And I
- 8:54Speaker 1: have to do that because I want to be as
- 8:56Speaker 1: authentic as possible, and so being transparent and being vulnerable
- 9:05Speaker 1: in front of people is really really hard for me.
- 9:09Speaker 1: And so I would say that was and has been
- 9:12Speaker 1: even now to this day. It's one of the hardest
- 9:15Speaker 1: things for me to do. Get my head right, you know,
- 9:17Speaker 1: and go in because it's almost like a panic attack
- 9:19Speaker 1: for me because it's like, oh my god, I'm telling this.
- 9:22Speaker 1: So I'm telling that and people gonna look at me crazy.
- 9:25Speaker 1: But I have to reassure myself my life is not
- 9:27Speaker 1: my own and I'm only here as an example to
- 9:29Speaker 1: someone else. So I have to constantly remind myself that
- 9:32Speaker 1: because really being intimate and being open with people is
- 9:36Speaker 1: really tough for me.
- 9:39Speaker 3: I get it.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I was always.
- 9:42Speaker 3: I was always the person behind the scenes, like I
- 9:44Speaker 3: write too, because I have books and stuff too. But
- 9:47Speaker 3: I always here, y'all do it. I'll write the script.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Y'all add out.
- 9:51Speaker 3: You don't have to say that I wrote it. I
- 9:53Speaker 3: was always so when twenty twenty hit and God was like, no,
- 9:57Speaker 3: you need to be coming to forward from you need
- 10:00Speaker 3: to be in the fourthfront. I called you peel Lee. Yeah,
- 10:03Speaker 3: I love it.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Yeah see now. And you know it's so funny because
- 10:07Speaker 1: I said, I used to say, I never understood this.
- 10:09Speaker 1: They say God will give you the desires of your heart.
- 10:11Speaker 1: They left out the part that he's going to put
- 10:13Speaker 1: in your heart his desire. That all you got to
- 10:16Speaker 1: do is get in line with what his desires is,
- 10:18Speaker 1: and you're walking out to desire your heart. So that's why,
- 10:21Speaker 1: now in hindsight you can say, Okay, I love it now.
- 10:23Speaker 1: But at first, oh no, you know what I mean.
- 10:26Speaker 3: Like, so that recorded my first show. I had my
- 10:29Speaker 3: big sister with me. I was like, you got to
- 10:30Speaker 3: be on the first show because I need that straight
- 10:32Speaker 3: from you. But she was watching me do the show
- 10:37Speaker 3: when we did them live on Instagram because everything was
- 10:39Speaker 3: shut down in twenty twenty, right, and she said that
- 10:43Speaker 3: she was in awe because the questions that I had
- 10:46Speaker 3: written out, She said, you didn't even use those questions.
- 10:49Speaker 3: It was like, you know what's going out. You knew
- 10:51Speaker 3: when to ask this, you knew when to puss that
- 10:53Speaker 3: you have a gift, and so you know, I prayed
- 10:57Speaker 3: about it and then God just confirmed what she saw him.
- 11:00Speaker 3: So I love meeting people like you and having these
- 11:03Speaker 3: intimate conversations that will help other people tappen to their
- 11:08Speaker 3: gifts and you know, walking purpose.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Yes, likewise, likewise, I love meeting like minded women.
- 11:16Speaker 3: Yes, yes, love it. So how has love, whether self
- 11:21Speaker 3: love or in relationships, shifted your mindset?
- 11:25Speaker 1: Self love?
- 11:26Speaker 3: For me?
- 11:27Speaker 1: Here recently, I think I feel like I really feel
- 11:30Speaker 1: like and I know that love is layered. It's like
- 11:34Speaker 1: an onion, you know. And for me, I can speak
- 11:37Speaker 1: specifically in the season that I'm in right now, going
- 11:41Speaker 1: through change is where I'm going through menopause and you're
- 11:44Speaker 1: dealing with everything that comes along with menopause, and my
- 11:48Speaker 1: body is not the way it used to be. It's
- 11:51Speaker 1: not the size that it used to be, and I'm
- 11:55Speaker 1: having all of these flashes, and you know, your body's
- 11:57Speaker 1: going through so many different which is a part of
- 12:01Speaker 1: cycle of life I have to learn. I'm almost on
- 12:05Speaker 1: the other side of this, but I'm still battling falling
- 12:08Speaker 1: in love with me as I am. I'm at a
- 12:11Speaker 1: new different layer of love when it comes to self
- 12:15Speaker 1: love and giving myself grace, giving myself a break because
- 12:21Speaker 1: I am I battle perfectionism, perfectionalism.
- 12:27Speaker 3: Say the word for me, professional perfectionalism.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Yes, I battle that. And so it's just been, you know,
- 12:36Speaker 1: it kind of messed with your head because your head
- 12:38Speaker 1: is not lining up what you see in the mirror.
- 12:40Speaker 1: And it's just been a roller coaster in a sense.
- 12:43Speaker 1: But I am learning that I am still beautiful and
- 12:49Speaker 1: it isn't just a hour thing. It's in It starts
- 12:52Speaker 1: from the inside. And so when I'm looking my words, ladies,
- 12:56Speaker 1: I tell say this all the time on my shelf.
- 12:58Speaker 1: When you look, you can't figure out why men approach
- 13:00Speaker 1: you when you're looking at your looking your worst, because
- 13:02Speaker 1: you don't have any any boundaries. You know, you're wide
- 13:06Speaker 1: open white. And we don't even realize that our guards
- 13:10Speaker 1: are our lowered because we ain't you know, we ain't
- 13:13Speaker 1: wearing something that we think would attract them. But it's
- 13:17Speaker 1: your inner glow that they're attracted to. And so that
- 13:21Speaker 1: inner glow is going to be there no matter what
- 13:23Speaker 1: this out appearance looks like. And so that is where
- 13:26Speaker 1: I am trying to get my head and my heart
- 13:31Speaker 1: in line so that I can receive the fullness of
- 13:34Speaker 1: my own self love. And so this is but before you.
- 13:39Speaker 1: I tell anybody, honey, I trish love hers some trish.
- 13:42Speaker 1: But you go through different phases in life and you
- 13:46Speaker 1: have to fall back in love, just like relationships. You know,
- 13:49Speaker 1: I've been married twenty six years and it's it's the
- 13:54Speaker 1: same thing. It goes. Marriage goes through cycles, and you
- 13:56Speaker 1: have cycles where you halfway can stand each other, and
- 13:59Speaker 1: then we have cycles we were just tripping over each other.
- 14:02Speaker 1: And it's just it continues to go throughout your life journey,
- 14:05Speaker 1: and so it's finding new ways to fall in love
- 14:07Speaker 1: with yourself where you are.
- 14:10Speaker 3: I love that mindset because we are our worst critic.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Like you said, oh yes, that.
- 14:15Speaker 3: Negative self talk will come in and have you so
- 14:18Speaker 3: down and out if you're not careful. But we have
- 14:21Speaker 3: to know whose we are. We are made in God's image,
- 14:24Speaker 3: so we have to love ourselves. And sometimes it's hard
- 14:28Speaker 3: because sometimes you look in the mirror and like, hey,
- 14:31Speaker 3: this is not the young girl that I used to be,
- 14:32Speaker 3: because you start to see fine lines and the wrinkles
- 14:35Speaker 3: start coming in and the way up and down. But
- 14:40Speaker 3: having that mindset, I am beautiful no matter how I look,
- 14:45Speaker 3: what size I am. That is for me that was
- 14:49Speaker 3: the most significant part of my healing journey when I
- 14:52Speaker 3: went through Yeah, yeah, I love that. Okay, now we're
- 14:58Speaker 3: getting into the reality check. Okay, because growth and growth,
- 15:04Speaker 3: you know, growth sounds good. Yeah, the truth is it's
- 15:08Speaker 3: not always comfortable. Right. What's an uncomfortable truth people need
- 15:14Speaker 3: to hear about personal growth.
- 15:18Speaker 1: It is just just to have the expectation that it's ugly,
- 15:23Speaker 1: it's not pretty, it's painful, it's uncomfortable, and you have
- 15:28Speaker 1: to be able to be in that space, in that
- 15:31Speaker 1: head space and stay focus the hardest thing, and stay
- 15:36Speaker 1: focused on the end goal because you know, I say,
- 15:42Speaker 1: I try to stop using certain words because of what
- 15:49Speaker 1: it makes me think, where my mind goes to when
- 15:52Speaker 1: I think about it, and so I call it stretching.
- 15:57Speaker 1: When you think about every aspect of stretch, think about
- 15:59Speaker 1: when you're body stretches when you're pregnant. The bottom line is, yes,
- 16:04Speaker 1: I'm uncomfortable right now, a body is ache and I'm
- 16:06Speaker 1: just oh, this is the worst feeling in the world.
- 16:08Speaker 1: But the bottom line is you're going to have a
- 16:10Speaker 1: brand new baby, right Think about when you're stretching and
- 16:13Speaker 1: you're working out and you're oh, I have to stretch,
- 16:15Speaker 1: and oh it is hurt. I'm doing pilates. I'm a
- 16:18Speaker 1: huge lover of plates, you know, and you're doing all
- 16:20Speaker 1: of these stretching and getting in all of these awkward positions.
- 16:24Speaker 1: But then now I can bounce up, you know, I
- 16:27Speaker 1: can get all the way on the floor and jump
- 16:28Speaker 1: all the way up. So I think and I focus
- 16:30Speaker 1: on the benefits of it. But you have to know
- 16:33Speaker 1: going in it is not going to be comfortable. It's
- 16:36Speaker 1: not going to be pretty, it's going to be messy.
- 16:38Speaker 1: And if you go in with that expectation, then you're
- 16:42Speaker 1: not thrown off when when things go a little crazy.
- 16:45Speaker 1: You know, you're like, okay, I'm keeping my eye on
- 16:47Speaker 1: that goal. And we say that all the time, but
- 16:50Speaker 1: do what whatever you need to do affirmations. Put a
- 16:52Speaker 1: picture of of My sister is a bodybuilder, and she
- 16:56Speaker 1: used to say, well, if you if you have a
- 16:57Speaker 1: weight goal, put a picture of the person who you
- 17:00Speaker 1: might be attainted and it could be you and your
- 17:04Speaker 1: ideal weight, you know, but put a picture up so
- 17:06Speaker 1: that you can stay focused while you're hurting and grinting
- 17:09Speaker 1: and getting through that workout and say, okay, as soon
- 17:12Speaker 1: as I get on the other side of this, this
- 17:14Speaker 1: is what I have to look forward to. So I
- 17:16Speaker 1: don't want to give in. I don't like to give
- 17:17Speaker 1: any false information on anything. It is ugly, stretching is ugly.
- 17:25Speaker 1: It's not easy. But I guarantee, if you stay the course,
- 17:29Speaker 1: you will receive that bottom line reward.
- 17:31Speaker 3: I promise you absolutely. I agree because I was going
- 17:35Speaker 3: to sleep in this morning. I was off today and
- 17:38Speaker 3: I was going to sleep in this morning. And the
- 17:42Speaker 3: I guess the walking part of me because I'm started
- 17:44Speaker 3: to train for a marathon. I want to do a
- 17:46Speaker 3: marathon before I turned fifty. I have two years I
- 17:50Speaker 3: and my sleep would not come back to me for nothing.
- 17:53Speaker 3: So here I am getting up and I was dreading it.
- 17:56Speaker 3: But when I got out there and I was on
- 17:58Speaker 3: the trail and walked, it was a beautiful morning. The
- 18:02Speaker 3: wind was blowing and I just felt amazing. Yet, so
- 18:08Speaker 3: do it? Do it in spite of.
- 18:12Speaker 1: In spite of the reward?
- 18:14Speaker 3: Is so much reward in y'all. You know, just keep
- 18:18Speaker 3: keep showing up for yourself.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Yes, I love that. It's perfect.
- 18:23Speaker 3: Yep. What do people romanticize about healing? Are success? That
- 18:30Speaker 3: is not real?
- 18:33Speaker 1: That it will never come up as a and show
- 18:38Speaker 1: up in your life as a trigger. A lot of times,
- 18:42Speaker 1: you can a lot of things that we are healing from.
- 18:45Speaker 1: You Just think about it. It's a womb a womb wound,
- 18:50Speaker 1: and it takes Some wounds take a long time to heal.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Some don't take quite as long. But just think about it.
- 18:58Speaker 1: If you I'll just use something that's say stubbing your toe.
- 19:02Speaker 1: You know, you stub your toe and then now all
- 19:04Speaker 1: of a sudden, you're like, oh my god, you know
- 19:06Speaker 1: you're you tend to be a little more careful and
- 19:10Speaker 1: you're walking after as time goes on. Okay, well you
- 19:14Speaker 1: healed from stubbing your toe. But if you even come
- 19:19Speaker 1: close I know, for me, if you even come close
- 19:21Speaker 1: like you're gonna stub your toe again, You're like, oh no,
- 19:24Speaker 1: so it's gonna always be. Healing doesn't mean that you forget.
- 19:28Speaker 1: I'll say that. It doesn't mean that you you forget
- 19:31Speaker 1: that you have been wounded. Healing doesn't mean that the
- 19:35Speaker 1: wound never took place. It never happened. It will continuously
- 19:39Speaker 1: be something in your life. However, the way you perceive it,
- 19:44Speaker 1: the way you approach it, It's gonna fade, but it will
- 19:50Speaker 1: always be there. It's gonna always be there, but we
- 19:53Speaker 1: will grow and stretch. Healing is a beautiful thing and
- 19:59Speaker 1: we we will all say, oh, I want to be heal,
- 20:02Speaker 1: I want to be healed. Then again, you're still going
- 20:05Speaker 1: to have trick around that healing, and so you just
- 20:10Speaker 1: continue to pray and grow. And that's what life is about.
- 20:12Speaker 1: It's a journey, and no one said that they will
- 20:15Speaker 1: be one perfect at the end of this life. It's
- 20:18Speaker 1: something that we're going to continuously live out in our journey.
- 20:21Speaker 3: Totally. I totally agree healing is.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Necessary, it's absolutely But yeah.
- 20:28Speaker 3: Healing is necessary because it's whenever you are striving to
- 20:33Speaker 3: be the best version of yourself, some healing is required
- 20:36Speaker 3: in order to change and grow and evolve into the better,
- 20:40Speaker 3: the best version of yourself. And I don't really think
- 20:43Speaker 3: that it's a best version of yourself because we are
- 20:45Speaker 3: ever changing. No, you might, you might not be the
- 20:48Speaker 3: same as you were last year versus last one last week.
- 20:52Speaker 3: And that's that's the whole point.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Right, That's right, it's the whole evolution. And just like
- 20:59Speaker 1: you just said a few minutes ago, you know, when
- 21:01Speaker 1: it comes to healing, it's ongoing, is what I'm saying.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Like you go from healing to hell. You go from
- 21:08Speaker 1: wound to wound to wound, you know what I mean,
- 21:10Speaker 1: And so it is ever present. But this is what
- 21:12Speaker 1: I was going to say. You want to be able
- 21:14Speaker 1: to grow each at each point, you know what I mean.
- 21:18Speaker 1: And you want to say, Okay, well I do want
- 21:20Speaker 1: to be healed from this. But what does it require?
- 21:23Speaker 1: What does healing require? It requires acknowledgment, It requires work,
- 21:29Speaker 1: It requires a brand new mind, like you said, mind reset.
- 21:34Speaker 1: It requires a lot, you know I have. If my
- 21:37Speaker 1: father was hurt me tremendously, you know, just being a deadbeat,
- 21:41Speaker 1: but appearentson hurt from my father, you know, and how
- 21:45Speaker 1: he's no longer here. But I actually had to go
- 21:48Speaker 1: into and I thought that I had forgiven him. I said,
- 21:51Speaker 1: he is just the man he is, and that's just
- 21:54Speaker 1: who he is. But at the time he did not
- 21:57Speaker 1: no longer walk this earth. So much rolls up in
- 22:01Speaker 1: me and look more than what I expected, to the
- 22:04Speaker 1: point that I had to go to counseling. But it
- 22:06Speaker 1: was like, Okay, well now he's gone, I don't ever
- 22:09Speaker 1: have a chance to get a relation and have a
- 22:12Speaker 1: relationship with him, and so I have to and even sometimes,
- 22:17Speaker 1: even now he's been gone over six years, I still
- 22:21Speaker 1: battle that a little bit Father's Day. It's just like
- 22:24Speaker 1: we was talking about healing, different things will trigger you.
- 22:28Speaker 1: I am better than I was six years ago. However,
- 22:30Speaker 1: I am still dealing with stuff in different phases of
- 22:34Speaker 1: healing from that same womb. And that's just a part
- 22:37Speaker 1: of healing. That's a part of the journey.
- 22:39Speaker 3: Absolutely, yeah. And it's not meant to be comfortable because
- 22:45Speaker 3: like that's stretching. You said, it stretches us so that
- 22:49Speaker 3: we can know that you know what. Yeah, I held
- 22:52Speaker 3: on to some things, but I have to release this
- 22:54Speaker 3: in order for me to heal. Yes, yeah, what is
- 22:59Speaker 3: one reason yeallady people need to understand about love and
- 23:03Speaker 3: relationships when it comes to mindset.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Ooh girl, I'm learning this one you speak. I think
- 23:18Speaker 1: that I will say, we have to give grace to others,
- 23:25Speaker 1: but we also have to give grace to ourselves. And
- 23:28Speaker 1: I say that because we're going to mess up, even
- 23:31Speaker 1: in loving relationships. We're going to mess up, and you
- 23:35Speaker 1: know that's a whole part of life as well. But
- 23:40Speaker 1: I think that what is very a mindset that I
- 23:43Speaker 1: would have to say is that always be aware of
- 23:49Speaker 1: what you're doing, what you're saying, your tone, try to
- 23:53Speaker 1: be in tune with that. My mom used to make
- 23:58Speaker 1: us like if we if we got into with one incidence.
- 24:02Speaker 1: I remember I was fell out with one of my
- 24:04Speaker 1: teachers and I came home was complaining about it, and
- 24:07Speaker 1: she said to me, and I was right, I'm tell
- 24:09Speaker 1: you right now, all the way right. But she said
- 24:13Speaker 1: to me, Trish, what could you have done better? How
- 24:17Speaker 1: could you have handled that situation better? I think every
- 24:21Speaker 1: single one of us needs a mindset of self reflection
- 24:26Speaker 1: and self reflect first before we start pointing a finger.
- 24:30Speaker 1: And I think that if you and I'm like I said,
- 24:32Speaker 1: this is the muscle that I am right now in
- 24:35Speaker 1: my life trying to exercise, and so it's definite work,
- 24:39Speaker 1: definitely hard work. But I think that a mindset reset
- 24:42Speaker 1: would be to self reflect first in all of your
- 24:46Speaker 1: lovely relationships, friendships, even coworkers. You know, it's self reflect
- 24:51Speaker 1: first and do a self check. Everybody doesn't have the
- 24:56Speaker 1: desire to even try to work on that muscle, but
- 24:59Speaker 1: that doesn't mean you don't grow, you know, and you
- 25:03Speaker 1: don't try to become better. And so that's what I
- 25:05Speaker 1: would say that it's specific to me in my life
- 25:08Speaker 1: and what I'm going through right now.
- 25:10Speaker 3: Absolutely, man, Listen, that right there hit home to me
- 25:15Speaker 3: because I always try to put myself in other people's situations, Like, yeah,
- 25:21Speaker 3: put myself in the shoes of that person that I
- 25:23Speaker 3: am getting ready to go off on. How would that
- 25:25Speaker 3: make me feel if I were them and I had
- 25:27Speaker 3: somebody to tell me this? Yester at my job, he
- 25:30Speaker 3: was like, you make people feel seen and heard over
- 25:34Speaker 3: the telephone, like you are pouring into your members like
- 25:39Speaker 3: they are your best friends and y'all having a conversation
- 25:43Speaker 3: that they coming to you to listen to be heard,
- 25:47Speaker 3: and you are giving that experience to them. They want
- 25:50Speaker 3: my heart so much because that was not always Kiki,
- 25:52Speaker 3: trust me, it was my way or you got to
- 25:54Speaker 3: get out of here. I didn't care if I hurt
- 25:55Speaker 3: your feelings or nothing. I thank God for deliverance because
- 25:59Speaker 3: I want to be that person. I see it in
- 26:02Speaker 3: so many other people, and I'm like, thank you God,
- 26:05Speaker 3: because if I was like that, I know you roll
- 26:09Speaker 3: your eyes at me a whole lot during that time. Yeah. Absolutely, Okay,
- 26:16Speaker 3: So we're going to the action step, okay, because mindset
- 26:21Speaker 3: without action doesn't create change.
- 26:24Speaker 1: This sure doesn't.
- 26:25Speaker 3: What is one action someone can take today to shift
- 26:30Speaker 3: their mindset?
- 26:32Speaker 1: I think I am this is just me everywhere I go,
- 26:35Speaker 1: and I don't feel that this would exclude anyone. I
- 26:41Speaker 1: am huge on journaling, and I believe that when you are,
- 26:47Speaker 1: especially when you're going through a transition where you're trying
- 26:50Speaker 1: to align and grow and stretch and all of that,
- 26:54Speaker 1: I feel like the most important thing is to journal
- 26:57Speaker 1: date it, write down your throat thoughts, write down your
- 27:01Speaker 1: initial thoughts while you're in it, and be as honest.
- 27:05Speaker 1: If you can't be honest with you, you can't be honest
- 27:07Speaker 1: with nobody. Be completely honest. If it requires cussin it,
- 27:11Speaker 1: whatever it takes, wherever you are in this moment, jumal
- 27:14Speaker 1: it and write it down, then take it. If you've
- 27:17Speaker 1: got to sleep on it, come back to it a
- 27:19Speaker 1: week later, a day later, and you come back and
- 27:23Speaker 1: read where you were at that time of conflict, whatever
- 27:28Speaker 1: it is, and say, how we just said this? How
- 27:33Speaker 1: could I have handled this better? What am I doing here?
- 27:36Speaker 1: You will find out and I will share this. I
- 27:38Speaker 1: found the areas of my self worth where they I
- 27:42Speaker 1: was able to isolate the areas of self worth that
- 27:47Speaker 1: I needed to grow. Actually, I have a prompt book
- 27:52Speaker 1: that I'm I have. It's free, it's downloadable. It's free
- 27:56Speaker 1: because I realized a lot of people they need some
- 27:59Speaker 1: type of prompt to help them start writing. And I'm
- 28:01Speaker 1: the reason why, I say right on so many different levels.
- 28:05Speaker 1: I am a techie. I have all the little gadgets
- 28:07Speaker 1: and everything, but I still have to write it down
- 28:10Speaker 1: because it makes me feel so responsible for what I'm saying.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Whatever case scenario you're in and you're trying to grow in,
- 28:20Speaker 1: I use myself example, all the time I had. I
- 28:23Speaker 1: got a new manager on the job and she and
- 28:25Speaker 1: I are just not jelling. And so whenever I am
- 28:29Speaker 1: I feel it rising up, my ears get hot, you know,
- 28:32Speaker 1: I feel it. And so then I take a moment
- 28:34Speaker 1: and I write. And in that moment, in that place
- 28:38Speaker 1: of being uncomfortable, being upset, being emotional, I write it.
- 28:43Speaker 1: If I feel it, I write it.
- 28:45Speaker 3: You know.
- 28:46Speaker 1: And then I will take a day or two and
- 28:48Speaker 1: I go back to what I wrote and I ask
- 28:51Speaker 1: my what myself, how could I have how could I
- 28:57Speaker 1: have fixed this, or what could I have done differently?
- 29:02Speaker 1: I have found in my journaling personally. The reason why
- 29:07Speaker 1: I say that I'm a perfectionist is through journaling, and
- 29:11Speaker 1: so I can own only I can fix that. So
- 29:14Speaker 1: when I said, when I said, why is this lady
- 29:18Speaker 1: bothering me so bad? Why is she getting? What is
- 29:21Speaker 1: it that is getting on my nerve when it comes
- 29:25Speaker 1: to her? And I had and I had to be
- 29:27Speaker 1: real with me, and I said, it's because you're a
- 29:29Speaker 1: perfectionist and you don't receive correction from everybody. Oh wow.
- 29:35Speaker 1: So I had to say I had to be real
- 29:36Speaker 1: with me. And so I feel like that is the
- 29:42Speaker 1: first step in change. Because once you can write it down,
- 29:45Speaker 1: you can read it. You come back and oh my god, dress,
- 29:48Speaker 1: you was so out of order.
- 29:48Speaker 3: You know what I mean.
- 29:49Speaker 1: You have to self check. And the easiest way to
- 29:53Speaker 1: self check for me is to hold yourself accountable. And
- 29:56Speaker 1: that comes my way of journaling. So that's why I
- 29:59Speaker 1: always say, write it down. When you write it down
- 30:01Speaker 1: and you go back and reread it, you have to
- 30:03Speaker 1: live and look at yourself in the mirror and say, Okay,
- 30:06Speaker 1: this is where I was wrong, this is where I
- 30:08Speaker 1: could have done better in this situation. And so that
- 30:12Speaker 1: and I had to take three days off work on
- 30:14Speaker 1: it because I had gone off. So, yeah, it's not
- 30:18Speaker 1: all prim and proper. I ain't trying to act like
- 30:20Speaker 1: everything is perfect this way. I went clean off and
- 30:24Speaker 1: then I took three days off because I needed to
- 30:26Speaker 1: take care of self. Yeah, and in those three days
- 30:29Speaker 1: that I took off was where I was able to say, Okay,
- 30:33Speaker 1: she's annoying me because she's pointing out my flaws and
- 30:37Speaker 1: as a perfectionist, I don't like that.
- 30:39Speaker 3: I don't like that.
- 30:41Speaker 1: Now how do I think? Now? How can I fix it? Now?
- 30:43Speaker 1: That's the area I'm working on fixing it. But now
- 30:48Speaker 1: that I'm aware, when I'm on the phone with her
- 30:50Speaker 1: or I'm dealing with her, it's like, okay, Trish, take
- 30:53Speaker 1: a step back, don't jump the gun, take a step
- 30:56Speaker 1: back and say, Okay, what's really going on here? How
- 31:00Speaker 1: are you feeling? Is what she's saying wrong?
- 31:03Speaker 3: No?
- 31:04Speaker 1: Okay, Well then why can't you do this? So it's
- 31:06Speaker 1: a matter of always self checking yourself. Writing it down
- 31:11Speaker 1: is staring you in the face. You can't hide it,
- 31:13Speaker 1: can't shut the coat.
- 31:15Speaker 3: Absolutely, And I'm big on journaling, like I have so
- 31:18Speaker 3: many journals, and that's how I started writing in the
- 31:21Speaker 3: third grade. My third grade teacher gave us a little
- 31:24Speaker 3: notebook and he introduced us to journaling, and I have
- 31:28Speaker 3: been a fan ever since. But writing it down, yeah,
- 31:31Speaker 3: it's in your face, it's.
- 31:33Speaker 1: In your hip. You can't have from it. Yes, yeah,
- 31:38Speaker 1: I love that pel You feel it coming through your fingers.
- 31:40Speaker 3: Yeah, it is. It is an extension of the brain,
- 31:43Speaker 3: so yes, it is. Yes. So we're gonna talk a
- 31:48Speaker 3: little bit about you, Like, you know, you have the
- 31:50Speaker 3: TV show and you know, let's talk about that, and
- 31:54Speaker 3: we're gonna plug everything. How where do you hang out
- 31:56Speaker 3: on social media? So how did you get into the
- 32:00Speaker 3: TV hosting like the TV show?
- 32:03Speaker 1: Well, I started from music. Of course, I've always loved
- 32:08Speaker 1: My mother's a seamstress, so I grew up with custom
- 32:11Speaker 1: made clothing and so I've always been a lover of it.
- 32:15Speaker 1: So when I started singing and traveling, I would wear
- 32:20Speaker 1: up and coming designers pieces, and so people are like, oh,
- 32:23Speaker 1: where did you get this? Where'd you get that? My
- 32:24Speaker 1: management at the time was like, start a radio show
- 32:27Speaker 1: and start promoting these people, and so that's what I
- 32:29Speaker 1: started doing. While I was recording music and making music
- 32:33Speaker 1: and would bring on different designers, up and coming stylists,
- 32:37Speaker 1: hair everyone in the beauty industry. I would have come
- 32:40Speaker 1: on my radio show well when I would have makeup
- 32:43Speaker 1: artists and even some stylists, my viewership would say, well,
- 32:47Speaker 1: we can't see, you know, we can't see what if
- 32:49Speaker 1: she's telling us and teaching us about an application, we
- 32:52Speaker 1: can't see it. So in twenty eighteen, I decided to
- 32:56Speaker 1: transition from radio to TV and so we've been doing.
- 33:00Speaker 1: We started out and styled with Trish because it was
- 33:02Speaker 1: all about fashion, but then we rebranded and pivot in
- 33:08Speaker 1: twenty twenty three, I believe and we became Trish Stanley TV.
- 33:14Speaker 1: And so now we talk about everything because I am
- 33:16Speaker 1: a community girl, so we bring on guests who talk
- 33:19Speaker 1: about One of the main stories that we're following here
- 33:23Speaker 1: in Atlanta is a girlfriend of mine, her husband, her
- 33:27Speaker 1: her mother died from AIDS. Her husband, who had had it,
- 33:32Speaker 1: did not reveal it to her, allowed her to suffer
- 33:37Speaker 1: and die without acknowledging it. So we cover topics like that.
- 33:43Speaker 1: We talk about caregiving, talk about things that pertain to
- 33:47Speaker 1: the community. We talk about mental pause, we talk about
- 33:51Speaker 1: you name it, just different things, hair loss and women
- 33:57Speaker 1: that is this new epidemic, and so we bring guests
- 34:01Speaker 1: on and we talk. We talked to authors. I love
- 34:03Speaker 1: talking to authors. I'm actually jealous and I always say
- 34:05Speaker 1: on the show, I got a book in me, and
- 34:07Speaker 1: y'all just can't wait. There you go, I am so
- 34:12Speaker 1: jealous of authors. But we bring on authors and things
- 34:15Speaker 1: like that, and it's just really been a true blessing
- 34:19Speaker 1: to be able to share so many people in the
- 34:21Speaker 1: community's stories and the things that we're going through. Even
- 34:25Speaker 1: us as a community of people, A lot of us,
- 34:27Speaker 1: a lot of our grandparents, aunts, uncles went through dialysis.
- 34:30Speaker 1: What is dialysis?
- 34:31Speaker 3: You know?
- 34:32Speaker 1: And I found that out sitting down having conversations with people,
- 34:35Speaker 1: and so that's where I am now, and that's what
- 34:38Speaker 1: really really excites me. Out of everything that I'm doing.
- 34:41Speaker 1: My TV show is probably one of the most exciting
- 34:45Speaker 1: things that I've done. I love that.
- 34:48Speaker 3: I love that I can tell but when you talk
- 34:51Speaker 3: about it, you light up.
- 34:53Speaker 1: A little bit.
- 34:54Speaker 3: Yes, So how can we watch and support? Where do
- 34:58Speaker 3: you hang out on the social media streets? Go ahead
- 35:00Speaker 3: and let everybody know.

- 36:39Speaker 3: So the first one, what is one truth about love?
- 36:43Speaker 3: Everyone should understand.
- 36:47Speaker 1: That it's a command.
- 36:48Speaker 3: Okay, you want to expound on that a little bit.
- 36:51Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I thought it was just one short answer
- 36:53Speaker 1: that it is a command. It is. It is not
- 36:56Speaker 1: a want, it's not a desire. Love is not the
- 37:00Speaker 1: fairy tale that they want us to believe. It is
- 37:04Speaker 1: real life. Love is love. That is my saying whenever
- 37:07Speaker 1: I sign off the show. Love isn't love unless you
- 37:10Speaker 1: give it away. You've got to give love away. You
- 37:12Speaker 1: can't hoard it and you can't hide it. And every
- 37:15Speaker 1: single being that God created on this earth his desire.
- 37:19Speaker 1: When he left here, he said, that's the only command
- 37:23Speaker 1: he gave was love you one another. That's it, Love
- 37:26Speaker 1: you one another, regardless of your skin color, regardless of
- 37:29Speaker 1: who you bed with, regardless of everything He said to love.
- 37:33Speaker 1: And I can love, and I can look at anyone
- 37:36Speaker 1: and say that I love you with the love that
- 37:38Speaker 1: God gives me, God put in me. Because if I
- 37:40Speaker 1: can't love you, now am I fully loving myself and
- 37:43Speaker 1: loving those who I claim that I'm loving. We're supposed
- 37:46Speaker 1: to love. We were created in love, and that's who we.
- 37:50Speaker 3: Are, absolutely, And if we can't love others, how we
- 37:53Speaker 3: expect God to love us the way that he you know,
- 37:55Speaker 3: it's just yeah, I get it. I love that.
- 37:58Speaker 1: I love that they are all His creations, just the
- 38:02Speaker 1: mere fact that He created you. I love you. There
- 38:05Speaker 1: you go, There you go.
- 38:07Speaker 3: That's the mic drop right there. All right?
- 38:11Speaker 1: Okay, So what.
- 38:13Speaker 3: Is one sentence about life? You want people to remember?
- 38:18Speaker 1: Life is a journey. It is a journey. It's about growing, evolving, enjoying.
- 38:28Speaker 1: And even though we experience death and all of these things,
- 38:30Speaker 1: that's a part of the journey. And we only get one.
- 38:33Speaker 1: We are blessed with only one life. Why not live it?
- 38:38Speaker 1: And as I always say, I'm telling you, I'm leaving
- 38:40Speaker 1: here empty when it's time for me to go, I'm empty.
- 38:43Speaker 3: There you go, all right? Last question. Okay, when life
- 38:49Speaker 3: challenges you and loves stretches you, what mindset keeps you grounded?
- 38:57Speaker 1: First? I cry, First, I have a tan, Then I
- 39:01Speaker 1: get mad, Then I have a pity party. And then
- 39:07Speaker 1: once I wipe all the snot away, wipe all the
- 39:10Speaker 1: tears away, I get back realigned, refocused with the purpose
- 39:15Speaker 1: because none of us are here without purpose, and no
- 39:20Speaker 1: matter how many times we get knocked down, we've got
- 39:22Speaker 1: to get up and re align with that purpose.
- 39:25Speaker 3: Absolutely but tris thank you for coming to kick it
