- 1:53Speaker 3: step closer to the weekend. That is always good. We're
- 1:55Speaker 3: also everybody's there's a lot of excitement around the world
- 1:58Speaker 3: of college football right now because it's just that time
- 2:01Speaker 3: of year, you know, and I know there's a new
- 2:03Speaker 3: era in Morgantown, a new older era in Morgantown. With
- 2:06Speaker 3: coach Rod. We are going to spend some time here
- 2:08Speaker 3: momentarily talking to Eric Arnold from the WU Alumni Association
- 2:12Speaker 3: of the Greater Kanaw Valley. They've got a big event
- 2:14Speaker 3: coming up this weekend, so we're going to talk to
- 2:15Speaker 3: them about that. Speaking of big events, multi Fast getting
- 2:18Speaker 3: underway later today in Charleston, and we'll talk to tomorrow
- 2:21Speaker 3: Ebanks about that. And I've just been informed that we're
- 2:25Speaker 3: going to be invaded at around nine forty this morning
- 2:28Speaker 3: by those animals from the Mountain, one of them whose
- 2:30Speaker 3: name is Steve Animal and the other is Shockley. The Mountain,
- 2:34Speaker 3: our sister stations entered into a partnership with the folks
- 2:37Speaker 3: at five Street. Brewer, you know all about Animal Ale.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Well it's going to be a little bit more than
- 2:42Speaker 3: that because the first and third Thursdays of the month,
- 2:46Speaker 3: we're going to be we meaning the Mountain, will be
- 2:48Speaker 3: broadcasting live from five Street. And so Animal and Shockley
- 2:52Speaker 3: informed me earlier that they are coming on my show today.
- 2:55Speaker 3: That's exactly the way they put it. They said, we're
- 2:57Speaker 3: coming down on your show today to talk about it.
- 2:59Speaker 3: So I said, okay, it's I'm the host, but okay,
- 3:01Speaker 3: you knock yourself out. So we'll talk about that plus
- 3:04Speaker 3: some other things in the news, and of course you
- 3:06Speaker 3: are text and phone calls are always welcome. Big Lea
- 3:08Speaker 3: Pickley Wiegly Hotline three zero four three four five fifty
- 3:11Speaker 3: eight fifty eight. Tony the Taylor Text three zero four
- 3:14Speaker 3: nine three five five zero zero eight. Let's welcome in
- 3:16Speaker 3: the afore mentioned Eric Arnold for the WVU Alumni Association
- 3:20Speaker 3: of the Greater Kanall Valley. Good morning, Welcome to the show,
- 3:22Speaker 3: sir may.
- 3:24Speaker 4: Thanks, it's a pleasures always. It sounds like you have
- 3:27Speaker 4: all the mysscreenson you're sharing this for.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Well now I'm going to say we don't have all because,
- 3:34Speaker 3: with all due respect to I'm not going to put
- 3:36Speaker 3: tomorrow U Banks from multifest in there, Okay, but yeah,
- 3:39Speaker 3: with you and with Animal and Shockley, yeah we got
- 3:41Speaker 3: the miscreants for sure, but not tomorrow. Okay, let's just
- 3:44Speaker 3: make that distinction absolutely all right, So mentioned this earlier
- 3:49Speaker 3: and we'll get to your event. But I want to
- 3:50Speaker 3: talk a little Mountaineer football with you.
- 3:53Speaker 5: Eric.
- 3:54Speaker 3: It's a new era in Morgantown, but it's also an
- 3:57Speaker 3: old era. How you feel it about coach.
- 3:59Speaker 4: Ron well, you know, I was friskly to work for
- 4:03Speaker 4: rivals dot com recruiting website during the time coach rod
- 4:08Speaker 4: was there, and uh, you know, from what I hear,
- 4:13Speaker 4: there is a higher amount of personal accountability, but it's
- 4:17Speaker 4: showing up in practicing on the field. And I think,
- 4:21Speaker 4: you know, as a lawyer, I'm very interested in the
- 4:27Speaker 4: university is doing on behalf of for very imputant players,
- 4:32Speaker 4: which a lot of places are doing that will be
- 4:36Speaker 4: immediate contributors. And Rich Rodrick is that he is absolutely
- 4:41Speaker 4: on board with that. But if you listen to him
- 4:45Speaker 4: on the prins Coffer, he is very critical of some
- 4:49Speaker 4: of the efforts and physicality of the team, and I
- 4:54Speaker 4: think that's a direct contrast. There's a message from last
- 4:57Speaker 4: year as sure as techno then the friend wasn't drinking
- 5:01Speaker 4: at arth Ceast on the podium like Rich was yesterday.
- 5:05Speaker 3: You gotta love it a coach of drink and RC
- 5:08Speaker 3: right talking to Eric Arnold. Uh yeah, And he's called
- 5:11Speaker 3: out a couple of the players, actually several of them
- 5:14Speaker 3: as a team for being soft, and he's done that
- 5:17Speaker 3: on more than one occasion. And about young people, these
- 5:19Speaker 3: young kids today, that sounds like me actually saying things
- 5:22Speaker 3: like that, what you take on all that? And now
- 5:24Speaker 3: promise we'll get to your event. What's you take on that?
- 5:26Speaker 3: Calling calling his player soft well, I.
- 5:29Speaker 4: Speaking to initial process. So he then reached the person.
- 5:33Speaker 4: He's always available. He's always accessible to his players on
- 5:37Speaker 4: a one on one basis, but he has a very
- 5:40Speaker 4: high standard and he has one that you know they
- 5:45Speaker 4: used to say match the mountains. Well, the mountain for
- 5:49Speaker 4: rich Rodriguez is beyond howksfest. It's effort. So he's kind
- 5:53Speaker 4: of running the laschool hell again. But from what I hear,
- 5:57Speaker 4: they're catching into the concepts of the hog set a
- 6:01Speaker 4: lot better. He likes having left the quarterbacks like Niko
- 6:06Speaker 4: Mahrischell and Jaden Henderson, who are the top two competitors
- 6:10Speaker 4: for the position, and that's going to allow him to
- 6:13Speaker 4: open up the offense because the reads are a little different.
- 6:17Speaker 4: So he's quietly excited. I think the problem more so
- 6:21Speaker 4: may be a depth issue. Wh'll figure that out quickly.
- 6:25Speaker 4: If you all please do.
- 6:26Speaker 3: Again, We'll talk with Eric Carnoll to Dave Allen. Showing
- 6:28Speaker 3: five Any Live is brought to you in part by Meeks,
- 6:30Speaker 3: Rentols and Leasing offering stress free property management for both
- 6:33Speaker 3: renders and property owners is the Meeks Rentals dot Com. Right,
- 6:35Speaker 3: let's talk about this big event that you got going on.
- 6:38Speaker 4: It's at the Bucket, right, Yes, Yes, the Mucket down
- 6:41Speaker 4: Intent Thunbar forty thirty Washington Street Plank. We're doing our
- 6:47Speaker 4: first you know, it's what privileged and orders. He's ahead
- 6:51Speaker 4: of the wv alumni as a greater fall, but a
- 6:56Speaker 4: lot of times he just the sports events, which the
- 6:59Speaker 4: new president, Michael Benson coming in and maybe having a
- 7:02Speaker 4: little more backing. We're doing our first annual with the
- 7:07Speaker 4: WVU Parents Club. Summers sent off. So if you as
- 7:11Speaker 4: a family or you as a student are going to
- 7:15Speaker 4: WFU for a first time more you're going back join
- 7:21Speaker 4: us from four to six at the Bucket, and then
- 7:24Speaker 4: if you come early you'll be able to have a
- 7:27Speaker 4: free ticket to Ryan Waters and Lily Gray, two concerts
- 7:32Speaker 4: that night at the Bucket. Ryan Wathers at two hundred
- 7:35Speaker 4: and twenty nine followers, thousands followers on Instagram. They're great
- 7:41Speaker 4: ass and it's a great venue it's never been. If
- 7:45Speaker 4: you have students, you'll be able to win Raffle prizes,
- 7:49Speaker 4: including a couple two hundred dollars gift cards to Mars
- 7:53Speaker 4: and Noville. I know you can either use this at
- 7:55Speaker 4: the bookstore, is selling from beer on High Street, not
- 7:59Speaker 4: that I've ever done it. Yeah, but we're excited to
- 8:04Speaker 4: do something a little different than a game rot and
- 8:07Speaker 4: maybe have this to be one of our temple events.
- 8:09Speaker 4: You know, we're involved in notting jerks fight out, some
- 8:12Speaker 4: other events around the valley you'll be hearing about, and
- 8:16Speaker 4: then during the fall we'll have game rotters here and there.
- 8:19Speaker 4: But it's excited to do something for the students their
- 8:23Speaker 4: families that isn't totally sports related. And well we'll even
- 8:28Speaker 4: have an event for high school seniors coming up this
- 8:31Speaker 4: fall that it's excited to have. We're backing from WVU,
- 8:36Speaker 4: from the Alumni Association and Doom.
- 8:40Speaker 6: We're with that.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Yeah, and Eric, I like the fact that you mentioned this.
- 8:43Speaker 3: I like the fact that because when you think of
- 8:45Speaker 3: things like this, you do think sports. And I'm a
- 8:46Speaker 3: sports fanatic, you're a sports fanatic. I get that, but
- 8:49Speaker 3: sometimes it's it's good to do things that don't necessarily
- 8:52Speaker 3: revolve around sports. And you're offering this up for this
- 8:55Speaker 3: kickoff or I mean, you know, it's gathering that you're
- 8:59Speaker 3: going to have for the parents that get students going
- 9:01Speaker 3: off the WV for the students themselves. So it's going
- 9:03Speaker 3: to be a really really good time.
- 9:05Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 9:06Speaker 4: Absolutely, it's a twenty dollar ticket, but if you shove
- 9:10Speaker 4: up between four and six and have some WV relations
- 9:15Speaker 4: with a family member or a dear friend, you'll be
- 9:18Speaker 4: able to stay there for free for the concerts. And
- 9:21Speaker 4: then also the big thing is if you bring some
- 9:24Speaker 4: new ads, new suits or barry some blankets, which is
- 9:30Speaker 4: a WV initiative, there's some stuffed animals or blankets, you'll
- 9:35Speaker 4: get a free free cor appetizer. So you know, we're
- 9:39Speaker 4: trying to do that, raise them awareness for these other things,
- 9:42Speaker 4: but mainly have a good time. And you know Multifest
- 9:45Speaker 4: is a great event, gave asson bullying, the former players,
- 9:50Speaker 4: having a giveaway at Oakfield that morning around noon for
- 9:56Speaker 4: some kids. So you know, there's a lot of stuff
- 9:58Speaker 4: going around in Charleston and the more the mary.
- 10:01Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, we got a big event going on Saturday,
- 10:05Speaker 3: and we'll talk about a little bit later on at
- 10:07Speaker 3: Trojan Landing. Uh and those folks are going to join
- 10:09Speaker 3: us in studio tomorrow plus tomorrow I want to talk
- 10:12Speaker 3: about the Kenaw Trust Humane Association. They are annual Kegs
- 10:15Speaker 3: for Canines events and going on at the Red Carpet
- 10:17Speaker 3: and that's going to be on Saturday of the Mountain.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Steve and I will be out there for that. So
- 10:21Speaker 3: we're looking looking forward to all these big things. Uh.
- 10:23Speaker 3: And a big shout out going back to your event, THO,
- 10:25Speaker 3: very big shout out to Chris and the folks at
- 10:26Speaker 3: the Bucket because they they love they love getting people
- 10:29Speaker 3: out there. Of course they got some of the best
- 10:31Speaker 3: food and drink specials around.
- 10:33Speaker 4: Uh.
- 10:34Speaker 3: I am particularly fond of well several things there. The
- 10:38Speaker 3: pepperoni role is probably is my favorite thing there.
- 10:40Speaker 5: Uh.
- 10:41Speaker 3: But uh, it's a great if you, like you said,
- 10:43Speaker 3: if you've never been out there to the Bucket, it's
- 10:45Speaker 3: a great opportunity for you to come out there and
- 10:47Speaker 3: hang out with Chris and the folks there, but also
- 10:49Speaker 3: uh to show your pride in West Virginia University and
- 10:52Speaker 3: uh and to help out to people. It's all for
- 10:55Speaker 3: a good cause too.
- 10:56Speaker 4: Yeah. And you know, just thinking about the man to
- 10:59Speaker 4: say out an in venue, it looks like we're going
- 11:02Speaker 4: to have great weather. But anyone that's shared up last
- 11:05Speaker 4: year for our pick game watch that supported the Potter
- 11:09Speaker 4: Maddox Potter and his foundation of family. That was a
- 11:12Speaker 4: tremendous event.
- 11:14Speaker 8: Chris.
- 11:14Speaker 4: We'll be doing our backyard brawl Evan, as we always
- 11:17Speaker 4: do each year before mountain ers fight out. That's the
- 11:20Speaker 4: right carpet. But the main thing if you want to
- 11:23Speaker 4: come or have any questions or we'd like to donate,
- 11:28Speaker 4: texts or calling me three oh four four one five
- 11:31Speaker 4: and four three one, or find me on Facebook or
- 11:36Speaker 4: our organization. And the one thing I will say, if

- 15:34Speaker 12: Thank you so much for having us.
- 15:36Speaker 3: Good to be here again. It's always pleasure to have you.
- 15:38Speaker 3: Even though you're You're wearing the WVU stuff and I'm
- 15:42Speaker 3: wearing the Marshall. So you're gonna have to be the
- 15:46Speaker 3: there's a problem here tomorrow, you're gonna have to take
- 15:47Speaker 3: care of it.
- 15:48Speaker 14: Well, I'm deciding factor I'm Marshall because I'm like, I
- 15:51Speaker 14: graduated from Marshall.
- 15:52Speaker 3: You know, here's the thing people don't understand. You can
- 15:54Speaker 3: support both.
- 15:55Speaker 12: That's sorry.
- 15:55Speaker 3: Just the last segment was all about the WVU Alumni Association.
- 15:59Speaker 3: You can support both.
- 16:00Speaker 14: Miss Actually I do support I graduate from Marshall, but
- 16:03Speaker 14: then I also work for WUS.
- 16:05Speaker 15: So there you go.
- 16:06Speaker 16: Well, you can't forget wes Virginia State University.
- 16:10Speaker 3: I'm just saying West Virginia State and University of Charleston,
- 16:13Speaker 3: and oh we've got we had a lot of fine
- 16:16Speaker 3: institutions of higher learning, say West Virginia. All right, So
- 16:20Speaker 3: multi Fest is going to kick off later today, So
- 16:22Speaker 3: is that right? I want to start with this though,
- 16:25Speaker 3: we'll get the I don't say controversial, but the semi controversy.
- 16:29Speaker 3: There was some concern about this thing happening overall. Mister Friist,
- 16:32Speaker 3: you want to you want to wait on that.
- 16:33Speaker 16: Well, you know, multifest has This is our thirty fifth
- 16:36Speaker 16: year and Multifests starts with a zero some budget. So
- 16:40Speaker 16: every year we have to start from the very beginning.
- 16:43Speaker 16: And this year, because some of the anti multiculturalism, anti
- 16:47Speaker 16: DEI rhetoric, we were very concerned that some of the
- 16:53Speaker 16: former sponsors were not sponsoring at the level that they
- 16:57Speaker 16: had before. And in addition, there was some sponsors who
- 17:00Speaker 16: did not participate this year. And so what we did
- 17:04Speaker 16: that we made a plead to the public and we
- 17:07Speaker 16: just really want to thank the community for coming through.
- 17:09Speaker 16: The community came through in terms of making up what
- 17:13Speaker 16: might have been a budget deficit.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Yes, good tomorrow, you're dying to say something, Go ahead.
- 17:18Speaker 14: No, I'm dis agreeing with him because you know, we,
- 17:22Speaker 14: as he said, we it looked a little bleak at first.
- 17:24Speaker 14: But you know, Pastor Price and you know mentioned that
- 17:27Speaker 14: we did a plea to the community and without their communities,
- 17:31Speaker 14: without the community support financially and in kind services, we
- 17:36Speaker 14: wouldn't have the greatest lineup that we've ever had this year.
- 17:39Speaker 3: And you talk about the community support, and again, events
- 17:42Speaker 3: like this, as you will both well know, are not
- 17:44Speaker 3: possible without the community. And I mean the corporate sponsorship
- 17:48Speaker 3: is a big part of it. But nobody shows up,
- 17:50Speaker 3: it doesn't really matter at the end of the day.
- 17:52Speaker 3: And that's just that's kind of what Charleston and the
- 17:54Speaker 3: surrounding areas and all the Westervininia what we do. We
- 17:56Speaker 3: show up when it comes to things.
- 17:58Speaker 16: Mitch Friesen, Well, that's what that's that's that's what this
- 18:01Speaker 16: festival really is all about because it came out of
- 18:03Speaker 16: the controversy of the lack of inclusion thirty five years ago,
- 18:07Speaker 16: and so over these thirty five years, Multifest has stood
- 18:10Speaker 16: for the for the principle that we are better together
- 18:13Speaker 16: than we are separated.
- 18:15Speaker 3: Yeah, and let's I mean when you talk about how
- 18:18Speaker 3: it started, because you's thirty five years ago and there
- 18:20Speaker 3: were some folks that felt that maybe because of Regatta
- 18:22Speaker 3: or whatever, that they it really wasn't a lot for them.
- 18:25Speaker 3: They weren't included, and this thing started and now we
- 18:27Speaker 3: got both events and Regatta's back again. So now you
- 18:30Speaker 3: got both of these huge summertime events and everybody's kind
- 18:34Speaker 3: of mingling, you know, everybody supporting everybody. That's that's what
- 18:36Speaker 3: this thing's all about.
- 18:37Speaker 16: Well, it's a win win for the Kanal Valley and
- 18:39Speaker 16: for the state of West Virginia because what we need
- 18:42Speaker 16: to do in the state is to increase our tourism.
- 18:46Speaker 16: And so with this being the capital city, the fact
- 18:48Speaker 16: that we have these things throughout the summer regatta multifests
- 18:53Speaker 16: of Vandelia, it.
- 18:54Speaker 3: Really Summerfest is going to be next week in summer
- 18:56Speaker 3: Charleston down.
- 18:57Speaker 16: And it really makes the Kanal Valleys as well.
- 19:01Speaker 3: We should be all right, and you talked about the biggest,
- 19:03Speaker 3: the best, this is one of this is what this
- 19:05Speaker 3: you think? This is probably the best one we've ever
- 19:07Speaker 3: put together.
- 19:08Speaker 12: Every year we say is the best, Well that's what
- 19:10Speaker 12: you should that's every.
- 19:11Speaker 14: Year because we try to bring some new things to
- 19:14Speaker 14: the to the festival. And I can say starting today
- 19:17Speaker 14: at four thirty, the first ever in thirty five years,
- 19:20Speaker 14: Multifest will have a multicultural parade. And so we're going
- 19:24Speaker 14: to start that off at four thirty and you know,
- 19:26Speaker 14: then kick it off with our opening ceremony.
- 19:28Speaker 12: This is going to be huge, not only.
- 19:31Speaker 14: That with the parade, we're going to have Native American
- 19:34Speaker 14: dances from the West Coast. And we're so excited about
- 19:38Speaker 14: the new things that are going to be be taking
- 19:41Speaker 14: place here this weekend.
- 19:42Speaker 3: Indeed, we're talking about multifest to Dave Island showing five
- 19:45Speaker 3: eighty Live is brought to you in part by Husband's Pizza.
- 19:47Speaker 3: This month that your favorite Hustan's get a large at
- 19:49Speaker 3: Nitch Pepperoni pizza and a big eight inch chocolate chip
- 19:52Speaker 3: cookie for twenty three ninety nine dined in carry out
- 19:54Speaker 3: or order delivery by finding your closest Hustans at Hustinspizza
- 19:57Speaker 3: dot com. Anytime you talk about these events, guys, people
- 20:01Speaker 3: want to talk about the music, So you want to
- 20:03Speaker 3: one of you want to run down to me because
- 20:04Speaker 3: you got a quite an impressive music lineup.
- 20:06Speaker 14: We absolutely do. On Tonight is our go Go Nights.
- 20:09Speaker 14: We have a go go band all the way from Washington,
- 20:13Speaker 14: d C. Called Junk Yard Band. That's our headliner tonight.
- 20:17Speaker 14: On Tomorrow night, our headliner is going to be Christopher
- 20:20Speaker 14: Williams and Troop R and B musical group. On Saturday,
- 20:24Speaker 14: our headliner is going to be DJ Cool as well
- 20:27Speaker 14: as r s VP and that stands for Ray J, Sammy,
- 20:31Speaker 14: Bobby V and Pleasure P. Sunday we have gospel artists
- 20:36Speaker 14: Erl Binam and Asan buying them coming from Washington, d C.
- 20:39Speaker 14: And the gospel quartet group Virginia Ayres. And then on
- 20:43Speaker 14: Sunday night before we close out, we're gonna have Mike Jones,
- 20:46Speaker 14: our Hip Hop Era and then Zap will close it
- 20:50Speaker 14: out and then that the final finale would be a
- 20:53Speaker 14: great fireworks show that we're going to have. But we
- 20:56Speaker 14: also want to give great thanks to Arts Amplified, who
- 21:00Speaker 14: the local grant source here, who allowed who, who's sponsoring
- 21:05Speaker 14: some of our local artists, and so we want to
- 21:07Speaker 14: give a big shout out to them for stepping up.
- 21:10Speaker 14: As you said, you know, the community really came through,
- 21:12Speaker 14: and this is one that stepped up to say that
- 21:14Speaker 14: they wanted to support us and support our local artists.
- 21:17Speaker 14: So we want to thank them as well.
- 21:20Speaker 16: Anytime you have something new, though, you know, it's a
- 21:23Speaker 16: it's a new traffic that we have, and so we
- 21:27Speaker 16: really want to stress Thursday. We really want to stress
- 21:30Speaker 16: this afternoon in terms of that parade, and then the
- 21:34Speaker 16: Native American dancers because this is something we've really never
- 21:37Speaker 16: done before, and we would really like for the community
- 21:39Speaker 16: to come out see these young kids walking in the parade,
- 21:43Speaker 16: but also to see these Native American dancers that I
- 21:45Speaker 16: think will bring a we'll bring a true multiculturalism to
- 21:49Speaker 16: the to the to the event.
- 21:51Speaker 3: I want to talk about the parade because you know,
- 21:53Speaker 3: that's around the time that people are starting to get
- 21:54Speaker 3: off work in Charleston and things of that nature. So
- 21:56Speaker 3: anything they should know as far as like what time
- 21:59Speaker 3: is the line up and what's it going to affect
- 22:01Speaker 3: traffic wise, you know any Sure the City of Charleston's
- 22:03Speaker 3: got information out about that, but you guys want to
- 22:05Speaker 3: touch on that from one.
- 22:06Speaker 14: Yeah, just quickly, it's not going to affect the traffic
- 22:09Speaker 14: because we're already blocked off on Virginia Street between Virginia
- 22:13Speaker 14: and the Boulevard. We're going to line up on Court Street,
- 22:15Speaker 14: and so that's already part of multifest layout. So we're
- 22:19Speaker 14: gonna line up there at four o'clock and then step
- 22:22Speaker 14: off at four point thirty. We're gonna make a left
- 22:24Speaker 14: on the Canar Boulevard, go right through the entire festival,
- 22:27Speaker 14: and then end up down at the showing bomb stage
- 22:30Speaker 14: on the.
- 22:30Speaker 3: River, and anytime we talk about these summertime events, everybody
- 22:34Speaker 3: automatically goes to the music and the food. Those are
- 22:38Speaker 3: always big parts of it, but there's a lot more
- 22:40Speaker 3: going on there than just music and food. Talk about
- 22:41Speaker 3: some of the other things.
- 22:42Speaker 14: Absolutely, we are in the process even now, loading in
- 22:47Speaker 14: over fifty vendors from arts and craft to different ethnic
- 22:52Speaker 14: food industry, to information, and then we're also going to
- 22:57Speaker 14: have a very very large kid zone. Kid Zone is
- 23:01Speaker 14: going to have bump of cars, all kind of inflatables,
- 23:04Speaker 14: a dunking tank, games, just all sorts of things for
- 23:09Speaker 14: our kids, and that's going to be the entire weekend
- 23:11Speaker 14: starting today. We're also partnered with Attorney Frank Walker, so
- 23:15Speaker 14: today we're going to be giving out backpacks on his
- 23:18Speaker 14: behalf and we appreciate his support on that to all
- 23:22Speaker 14: the students that are getting ready to go back to school.
- 23:24Speaker 14: So again, you know, the whole weekend is going to
- 23:26Speaker 14: be fun for everyone, exciting for everyone, So we want
- 23:29Speaker 14: to make sure that you do come out. Starting today,
- 23:31Speaker 14: As he said, the parade is going to kick it off,
- 23:33Speaker 14: and that's something you don't want to miss.
- 23:35Speaker 3: Why is it important, mister Fischen. I'll go to you
- 23:38Speaker 3: on this. Why is it important that young people being
- 23:40Speaker 3: involved in this?
- 23:41Speaker 16: Well, not only because young people are our future, but
- 23:45Speaker 16: also we want to keep young people in the state.
- 23:48Speaker 16: And one of the things that we've had is a
- 23:49Speaker 16: lot of out my migration because people say that there's
- 23:52Speaker 16: not enough to do for young people. And so when
- 23:55Speaker 16: you have something like Multifest that is really for the
- 23:58Speaker 16: across the specter generational, I think it's important for it
- 24:01Speaker 16: for everyone to come out and then when young people
- 24:04Speaker 16: do things, for older people to come out and support them.
- 24:07Speaker 16: And so that's one of the reasons that we added this,
- 24:10Speaker 16: uh this this parade because we want young people intimately
- 24:15Speaker 16: involved with Multifest.
- 24:16Speaker 14: If I can add is you know, one of the
- 24:19Speaker 14: things I always say is that first of all the
- 24:22Speaker 14: events and that concerts are free and open to the public,
- 24:25Speaker 14: and so you come and experience things that you may
- 24:28Speaker 14: not experience because you may not have the financial needs.
- 24:32Speaker 12: But Multifest is free and open to the public.
- 24:34Speaker 14: You're gonna get top national artists, regional artists free that
- 24:38Speaker 14: you can just come and enjoy yourself.
- 24:41Speaker 3: I mean, that's a big part of it right there too.
- 24:42Speaker 3: I mean, you know, I mean, you're gonna pay if
- 24:44Speaker 3: one of these acts comes to you know, I'll say
- 24:47Speaker 3: the coliseum or the Clay Center or whatever, you're gonna
- 24:50Speaker 3: with all the respect to them, you're gonna pay big Box. Absolutely,
- 24:52Speaker 3: So this is absolutely this is absolutely free. And talk
- 24:55Speaker 3: about the importance, guys of it's called Multifest for a reason.
- 25:01Speaker 3: Talk about the importance of everybody attending this.
- 25:03Speaker 16: Thing well, And that's one of the things that we
- 25:05Speaker 16: really want to stress because Multifest is not just for
- 25:08Speaker 16: one group. It really is. This idea of multiculturalism means
- 25:12Speaker 16: that everyone is involved, and so we try to pick acts.
- 25:16Speaker 16: For instance, this year, in terms of our local acts,
- 25:19Speaker 16: we have Stratus that people know, but we also have
- 25:21Speaker 16: the Esquires, and the Esquires goes back into the sit
- 25:24Speaker 16: in the nineteen sixties in terms of providing entertainment. So
- 25:30Speaker 16: we very strategically try to make sure that there is
- 25:33Speaker 16: something for everyone. And as you said, multiculturalism, multicultural festival,
- 25:38Speaker 16: Multifest means that we want everyone to come and be involved.
- 25:42Speaker 3: And I think you know, again, I'm not trying to
- 25:45Speaker 3: turn this into a political thing. I'm always open for that.
- 25:49Speaker 3: I'm very well aware, sir. By the way, last time
- 25:52Speaker 3: you were on the show, I gave you an invite.
- 25:54Speaker 3: I said, you need to come on the show more often,
- 25:57Speaker 3: and you've failed to do that. And you know, we
- 26:00Speaker 3: have the afternoon show now that from noon to three
- 26:03Speaker 3: with Amanda Baron and myself. You always look them there
- 26:05Speaker 3: as well too.
- 26:05Speaker 16: For the past seventeen months up until the end of May,
- 26:08Speaker 16: I've been in Connecticut doing this and has nothing to
- 26:11Speaker 16: do with me doing an interim vice presidency. At point
- 26:14Speaker 16: of p did you I didn't know if you re so.
- 26:18Speaker 16: I never get in fights with the media until I'm
- 26:21Speaker 16: actually doing the show and.
- 26:23Speaker 3: Then afterwards afterwards. And you know how much I love
- 26:26Speaker 3: the term the media because people, you know, so they
- 26:28Speaker 3: they think when they say the media, that there's some
- 26:31Speaker 3: big building downtown it's called the media, that we all
- 26:34Speaker 3: we all get together. But as I said as we
- 26:36Speaker 3: started the segment, there they're seems there, they're like it,
- 26:39Speaker 3: you know, right or wrong whatever, there seemed to be
- 26:44Speaker 3: within the within the current landscape that we we have
- 26:48Speaker 3: closed our minds a little bit in my opinion, And
- 26:51Speaker 3: I'm somebody that I'm somebody that leans conservative, but I
- 26:54Speaker 3: can recognize a problem when I see one, and it says,
- 26:58Speaker 3: and it seems to me that we have kind of
- 27:00Speaker 3: shut the door on some of these things, and I
- 27:02Speaker 3: think that's unfortunate.
- 27:03Speaker 16: Well, it's interesting because in the sixties, when we were
- 27:06Speaker 16: really stratified, it was the music of young people that
- 27:10Speaker 16: brought this country together. And so we think a multicultural
- 27:14Speaker 16: event will be something that's beyond politics, and so you
- 27:18Speaker 16: can meet people where they are, and I think that
- 27:21Speaker 16: will help us, especially as stratified as we are right now.
- 27:24Speaker 3: I can go back and you and I could sit
- 27:26Speaker 3: and talk music forever, because you know, there was a
- 27:29Speaker 3: time in this country where if you know, white people
- 27:32Speaker 3: listen to this and black people, Well, when Motown came out,
- 27:36Speaker 3: it changed all that. It changed all that. And even
- 27:39Speaker 3: though I'm not necessarily a disco fan, disco just I
- 27:42Speaker 3: mean blew it all to pieces because she had a
- 27:45Speaker 3: group that like just played at regotted Casey in the
- 27:47Speaker 3: Sunshine Band, where you had black, you had white, you
- 27:50Speaker 3: had Latino, and it was all about the music. Nobody
- 27:52Speaker 3: really cared what color of your skin was.
- 27:54Speaker 14: It was about the music, right and ifact just you know,
- 27:58Speaker 14: we talked about multi culture.
- 27:59Speaker 12: We we are going to.
- 28:00Speaker 14: Have a Southern soul recording artists with us on Saturday.
- 28:05Speaker 14: He is a Caucasian guy, but he sings Southern soul
- 28:08Speaker 14: and you're going to be amazed at the music that
- 28:11Speaker 14: he brings to us. So it's for everyone. When we
- 28:14Speaker 14: say multicultural, we're looking to have various cultures there and
- 28:18Speaker 14: when they're invited to come. And again, I cannot stress
- 28:22Speaker 14: enough it's open and free to the public.
- 28:25Speaker 3: All right, before we close, let's run down the schedule again.
- 28:28Speaker 3: Go ahead and start with the parade.
- 28:29Speaker 14: Today Thursday, August seventh, kicks off our parade at four
- 28:32Speaker 14: thirty and then our opening ceremony at five. Then we
- 28:36Speaker 14: will continue on with our local acts with Stratus as
- 28:40Speaker 14: well as the Unit Band and then Junkyard Band. Tonight
- 28:43Speaker 14: tomorrow we'll be starting with our local band. It's our
- 28:47Speaker 14: female night, it's all ladies night, and we're starting without
- 28:51Speaker 14: some of our local artists, and then we're going on
- 28:53Speaker 14: to Christopher Williams and then Troop and then on Saturday again,
- 28:58Speaker 14: we're going to have X Squire to kick it off
- 29:01Speaker 14: all the way up until we get to DJ Cool
- 29:04Speaker 14: and then our headline is going to be RSVP. Sunday's
- 29:07Speaker 14: all Gospel from twelve thirty with the Community Wide Service
- 29:11Speaker 14: with the Pastor Wanda Shelton preaching, and then our gospel
- 29:15Speaker 14: music going all the way to four thirty with the
- 29:17Speaker 14: Virginia Airs. Then Sunday night is our hip hop night
- 29:19Speaker 14: for our young people. We'll have local artists kicking it off.
- 29:24Speaker 14: We'll have Mac Jones as our headliner, and then to
- 29:26Speaker 14: close out the night would be Zap and then the
- 29:28Speaker 14: finale would be a great wonderful firework show that we
- 29:33Speaker 14: always look forward to having.
- 29:34Speaker 3: All Right, we appreciate you folks being there, and again
- 29:36Speaker 3: it's not just about the music. And go to your
- 29:38Speaker 3: Facebook page. You do a great job with your social media.
- 29:40Speaker 3: All the events are there, mister Briston tomorrow. It's always

- 29:44Speaker 3: good luck with everything, Thank you so much. Happy multifest,
- 29:47Speaker 3: thank you so much.
- 29:48Speaker 12: Thank you so much.
- 29:48Speaker 3: Plan to see you so yeah, yeah, we'll have you.
- 29:51Speaker 3: That's shinded threatening I'll be back if.
- 29:54Speaker 14: I can just add On Saturday morning, I forgot to
- 29:56Speaker 14: say that we do have an exercise component starting at
- 29:59Speaker 14: eight o'clock because we want to make sure people stay healthy.
- 30:01Speaker 12: So from eight to twelve noon.
- 30:03Speaker 14: We have various exercises activities going on at the Hotel

- 32:54Speaker 3: Street at Charleston. Actually going to be a series of
- 32:56Speaker 3: things going on at five Street as we are kind
- 32:58Speaker 3: of referring to it as our weekend care off of sorts.
- 33:01Speaker 3: We will be broadcasting live we meaning the Mountain from
- 33:04Speaker 3: there the first and third Thursdays of every month. Here
- 33:07Speaker 3: to talk about it now from the Mountain is the
- 33:10Speaker 3: semi legendary Steve Animal how you doing.
- 33:12Speaker 18: Man, I'm having a large day about yourself.
- 33:17Speaker 3: I am doing well. I mean, you know, I just
- 33:19Speaker 3: had to folks for multifest on and you know they
- 33:22Speaker 3: got multi Fest kicks off today. You got the event
- 33:25Speaker 3: going on at FIVEE Street. The Alumni Association of Greater
- 33:29Speaker 3: Canaws got their big event at the Bucket on Saturday.
- 33:32Speaker 3: You and I and others from the company, we are
- 33:36Speaker 3: going to be a part of the Yeah over Trojan Landing.
- 33:43Speaker 3: I'll have the folks from Trojan Landing on the show tomorrow.
- 33:45Speaker 3: We've got kegs for Canines going on. You and I
- 33:47Speaker 3: will both be there for that. So there are a
- 33:49Speaker 3: lot of things going on. But talk about this partnership
- 33:52Speaker 3: with the Fife Street that we've got starting this evening.
- 33:54Speaker 18: Yeah, So a few months back, we had the brainchild
- 33:58Speaker 18: to create I like beer, how about we do animal
- 34:06Speaker 18: Ale in conjunction with the radio station, So ninety eight
- 34:09Speaker 18: seven the Mountain, myself, Derek, John Doty, the rest of
- 34:13Speaker 18: the crew at five Street, how about we create a beer.
- 34:17Speaker 18: And we did and it was called Animal Ale. They're
- 34:20Speaker 18: currently brewing more of it. It actually the first run
- 34:24Speaker 18: keg blew out in sixteen minutes, a record for them.
- 34:29Speaker 18: Then thereafter everything blew out over the next twenty four hours.
- 34:33Speaker 18: So excited to be there our first and third thursdays
- 34:36Speaker 18: of the month. The parties will now be there every month,
- 34:40Speaker 18: so just put it on your calendar six o'clock you
- 34:42Speaker 18: plan to join us. If you haven't been to Fife before,
- 34:45Speaker 18: and a lot of people haven't, they have great sandwiches,
- 34:49Speaker 18: my favorite being Buffalo Chicken dip or the Buffalo Chicken
- 34:53Speaker 18: grilled cheese sandwich.
- 34:54Speaker 3: I like food, I'm a fan.
- 34:57Speaker 18: And they have the great outside seating area right across
- 35:00Speaker 18: from Slack Plaza on Summer Street. If you haven't been
- 35:03Speaker 18: there before, do not miss out on a great opportunity
- 35:06Speaker 18: to come on out and join join us. Gonna be
- 35:08Speaker 18: a good one.
- 35:09Speaker 3: You know, the animal al thing was kind of interesting
- 35:11Speaker 3: because we launched that thing, and you know, I've never
- 35:14Speaker 3: been part of a beer launching party before, and I've
- 35:17Speaker 3: never known anyone that had a beer named down had
- 35:19Speaker 3: a sandwich named after me once, but I've never had
- 35:21Speaker 3: a beer named after me. And that event on that
- 35:23Speaker 3: Friday night, I mean, you couldn't have gotten another person
- 35:26Speaker 3: down there, and of course all the area outside it
- 35:29Speaker 3: was it was a beautiful evening. Although it was hot,
- 35:30Speaker 3: it was a very beautiful evening. Yes, and it was
- 35:33Speaker 3: just it was just all it was just off the
- 35:35Speaker 3: charts man, and all the all the beer's gone.
- 35:38Speaker 18: It is, and they'll make more. That's the neat thing
- 35:40Speaker 18: about beer. Fife Street can make more. And yeah, to
- 35:45Speaker 18: be honored, recognized or somebody apparently I've arrived if I
- 35:52Speaker 18: have a beer named after you, and and you know
- 35:56Speaker 18: this thing with five Street, as we said, you're gonna
- 35:58Speaker 18: be down there on the first and third Thursdays every month.
- 36:00Speaker 3: It's kind of a way to just kick start the weekend.
- 36:03Speaker 18: Right absolutely, I consider the weekend should start on Thursday anyway.
- 36:06Speaker 3: So well some of us live it like it starts
- 36:08Speaker 3: on Monday. So not to point any fingers, but they're
- 36:12Speaker 3: going towards you don't look at me. Yeah, but but
- 36:15Speaker 3: so we're looking forward to it again. We'll be down
- 36:16Speaker 3: there on the first and third, including tonight, all kinds
- 36:19Speaker 3: of giveaways and all the fun that comes whenever we
- 36:22Speaker 3: we meaning the Mountain, which I'm also a part of
- 36:24Speaker 3: broadcast lot.
- 36:25Speaker 18: Yes, and today is actually if you didn't know, National
- 36:28Speaker 18: i PA Day and so they have those if you
- 36:31Speaker 18: like those are a lighter fair. They have the Charleston Ale,
- 36:34Speaker 18: which is pretty awesome and straight calls homie. I love
- 36:38Speaker 18: the I love the names of these beers. So but
- 36:42Speaker 18: Animal Ale is my favorite.
- 36:43Speaker 3: Of course it is. You know, at that night, I
- 36:46Speaker 3: didn't get any animal al Oh well, I mean because
- 36:50Speaker 3: you know, there was a lounge long line, and I
- 36:52Speaker 3: figure that you would take care of me on that
- 36:54Speaker 3: and I wouldn't have to wait in line with everybody else,
- 36:57Speaker 3: and I didn't want to take it away from our
- 36:59Speaker 3: from the way line, and so I left there with
- 37:02Speaker 3: not having any animal and I still haven't had any animals.
- 37:05Speaker 18: You will when it's back.
- 37:06Speaker 3: How do you how would you describe it to people?
- 37:08Speaker 18: All right, so when we first met to sit down, Like,
- 37:11Speaker 18: I like bud Light, Miller Lite, Quartz Light. However, I
- 37:14Speaker 18: also like Sam Adams, I like fat tires, so they're
- 37:19Speaker 18: a little bit heavier but not much, but like, is
- 37:21Speaker 18: there a way to blend the two and get kind
- 37:23Speaker 18: of a neat flavor from that? And they hit it
- 37:27Speaker 18: on the head, so to the guys at five Street
- 37:30Speaker 18: and girls, oh you guys.
- 37:31Speaker 3: And we're hoping they'll have it back there soon.
- 37:34Speaker 18: Yes, it's actually being brewed right now. It takes about
- 37:37Speaker 18: six weeks courage batch, so they're doing a large batch
- 37:40Speaker 18: and we're very excited about it.
- 37:42Speaker 3: All right again, be sure and make plans to join
- 37:46Speaker 3: us tonight. We'll start getting there about five thirty civil
- 37:50Speaker 3: start at six. The Mountain is live on the air
- 37:53Speaker 3: and you're holding up a shirt here.
- 37:54Speaker 18: We have a new run of T shirts from East
- 37:57Speaker 18: Coast Tease the Animal.
- 37:59Speaker 3: Please please hold up up to the microphone so everyone
- 38:01Speaker 3: can see it.
- 38:01Speaker 18: I am.
- 38:04Speaker 3: I don't think I have that one yet?
- 38:05Speaker 5: Do you not?
- 38:07Speaker 3: Are they? Is that a new designs got Steve Animal on.
- 38:09Speaker 18: The morning six to ten on the Mountain. If you don't,
- 38:13Speaker 18: I know where our whole box of them.
- 38:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I know the guy that makes them. I know
- 38:16Speaker 3: the sweatshop they come from. All right, So all right,
- 38:20Speaker 3: so we'll see you down there tonight. And then you
- 38:21Speaker 3: and I have a busy, busy couple days because, as
- 38:24Speaker 3: I said on Saturday, starting at about ten o'clock, we
- 38:28Speaker 3: are going to be over Trojan Landing. We're giving away
- 38:30Speaker 3: one thousand dollars and a brand new bike.
- 38:32Speaker 18: For Royal Landfield.
- 38:35Speaker 3: It's all of our stations are taking part in that.
- 38:37Speaker 3: So it's not just us, the Beat and CHS and
- 38:41Speaker 3: you know all the stations will be there for that.
- 38:43Speaker 3: And then Saturday afternoon you and I will be over
- 38:45Speaker 3: at Kegs for canines at the rect Line.
- 38:47Speaker 18: From Saturday afternoon till who knows when the red carpet.
- 38:53Speaker 3: Get out of here. I got, I got phone calls
- 38:55Speaker 3: to get treated so poorly. All right, Steve, animal ladies
- 38:58Speaker 3: and gentlemen, I appreciate you a stop by, and again
- 39:00Speaker 3: we'll see you tonight at five Street. We'll start things
- 39:02Speaker 3: down there at about six o'clock and plan on being
- 39:05Speaker 3: there with us on the first and third Thursdays of
- 39:07Speaker 3: every month at five Street Brewery on Summer Street in

- 40:47Speaker 3: that's why. Okay, it's Tommy, not Kevin. Why do we
- 40:50Speaker 3: get your name wrong every time you call?
- 40:54Speaker 8: I don't know, all right, yeah, yes, First of all,
- 40:59Speaker 8: it's very I'm kind to that gentleman animal. He's Steve
- 41:02Speaker 8: zz And there's another mistake you've made in a couple
- 41:09Speaker 8: of times in the past month. You're not alone, and
- 41:12Speaker 8: it's not just you media guys. It's all over the society.
- 41:15Speaker 8: Everybody's making the same mistake. You're identifying AI as artificial
- 41:22Speaker 8: intelligence when in reality it's automatic idiot. I know because
- 41:30Speaker 8: I just spent forty minutes largually none of it was
- 41:35Speaker 8: waittime with a major bank on the phone going through
- 41:40Speaker 8: their system to find out how to credit my credit
- 41:48Speaker 8: card with the bonus points forty almost forty five minutes. Now,
- 41:56Speaker 8: if that's not an automatic idiot in slow motion?
- 41:59Speaker 3: What is they tell us though, Tommy that it's the
- 42:02Speaker 3: future AI. I mean, it's taken over everything. I'm gonna
- 42:05Speaker 3: I'm gonna just go ahead and go out on a
- 42:07Speaker 3: limb here and say you're not a fan.
- 42:09Speaker 8: I'm gonna. I'm gonna just say what I said to
- 42:15Speaker 8: the phone on occasion just a few minutes ago, but
- 42:19Speaker 8: every once in a while and over for the past
- 42:21Speaker 8: several years, human being, and see if that does me
- 42:27Speaker 8: any good. It doesn't tell me any good. And I
- 42:30Speaker 8: feel bad for the young people, because you know, I
- 42:34Speaker 8: don't have that much longer. They got to put up
- 42:37Speaker 8: with it for decades into the future.
- 42:40Speaker 3: All right, Hey, Tommy, apologize for getting your name wrong.
- 42:43Speaker 3: But I appreciate the phone call. AI does not say
- 42:46Speaker 3: for artificial intelligence, as you said, I appreciate you being here.
- 42:49Speaker 3: Thanks a lot. We'll talk to sick. It is nine
- 42:52Speaker 3: nine coming up on this show tomorrow. As I mentioned earlier,

- 43:04Speaker 3: this Saturday afternoon at the Red Carpet Lounge. We'll get
- 43:08Speaker 3: into that. Also, as I said, a big event with
- 43:11Speaker 3: the folks of Trojan Landing happening on Saturday. We're teaming
- 43:13Speaker 3: up with them to give away a brand new motorcycle
- 43:15Speaker 3: and one hundred or I'm sorry, not one hundred, but
- 43:17Speaker 3: I must went up to one hundred thousand dollars and
- 43:19Speaker 3: the folks at Trojan Landing just drove off the road. No,
- 43:21Speaker 3: I'm sorry, it's one thousand dollars in cash and that
- 43:24Speaker 3: we are going to be given that away. All of
- 43:27Speaker 3: our stations will be a part of that. And we've
- 43:29Speaker 3: been registering for people for a couple of months now,
- 43:31Speaker 3: Saturdays give away day. Our office staff here has been
- 43:34Speaker 3: contacting people who are finalists. But we're going to let
- 43:36Speaker 3: a limited number of people register that day, to a
- 43:40Speaker 3: very limited number, and we'll just chew I mean most
- 43:43Speaker 3: of the people. I mean, if you've already registered, don't
- 43:45Speaker 3: worry that we're you know that you know we've renamed
- 43:48Speaker 3: on our deal or anything like that. It's not that,
- 43:50Speaker 3: it's just we're on only a few limited people will
- 43:54Speaker 3: be chosen that day. So if you're a finalist, you're
- 43:56Speaker 3: a finalist. But we're also going to add a couple more.
- 43:58Speaker 3: Plus there's a ton of other give away we're going
- 44:00Speaker 3: to be given away during this live broadcast, live music,
- 44:02Speaker 3: food and more out there. We'll start things about ten
- 44:05Speaker 3: a m. Trojan Landing. We'll talk to the folks of

- 47:27Speaker 3: And again, I know that there were critics from day
- 47:32Speaker 3: one about the vision for the Shawnee Sports Complex. You
- 47:36Speaker 3: can't argue with the results though. I mean literally millions
- 47:41Speaker 3: of dollars have come in because of that. And I
- 47:44Speaker 3: think for people, again, I keep beating this proverbial dead horse,
- 47:48Speaker 3: for people that don't think that travel sports is a
- 47:51Speaker 3: huge industry and that people aren't coming to Charleston, West
- 47:54Speaker 3: Virginia and the surrounding area. Throw Barbersville in there too.
- 47:58Speaker 3: As Commissioner Selango to yesterday, during one tournament, there were
- 48:03Speaker 3: no hotels available in a sixty mile radius of Charleston.
- 48:09Speaker 3: Now think about that for a moment, within sixty miles
- 48:13Speaker 3: of the Shawnee Sports Complex. There were no hotels available,
- 48:16Speaker 3: all because of events that were going on. I think
- 48:19Speaker 3: this was a combo event that was going on with
- 48:22Speaker 3: Charleston or with Shawnee should say, and the folks in Barbersville.
- 48:27Speaker 3: No hotels for a sixty mile radius. So tell me
- 48:30Speaker 3: again why we don't need Hit me with that one
- 48:34Speaker 3: more time. We don't need another hotel in Charleston. Hit
- 48:37Speaker 3: me with that again. No hotels within a sixty mile radius.
- 48:41Speaker 3: We desperately need a couple more hotels, not only in Charleston,
- 48:45Speaker 3: but over in the surrounding areas. I mean, I live
- 48:47Speaker 3: in Tays Valley. We've got a few over there. We

- 49:22Speaker 3: Center here in Charleston Saturday evening. All the details posted
- 49:25Speaker 3: in a story done by Morgan Pemberton over at wv
- 49:28Speaker 3: metronews dot com. TJ. Meadows has come into the building.
- 49:33Speaker 3: Ladies and gentlemen, give us a little preview of what's
- 49:35Speaker 3: going on on.
- 49:37Speaker 5: You're gonna open a hotel in the valley. You get
- 49:40Speaker 5: in the Dave's Inn.
- 49:43Speaker 3: I like that, Like that, see what you did?
- 49:45Speaker 21: Then?
- 49:45Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 49:46Speaker 3: Yeah, uh, Dave's in dave Arms Hotel Dave. We're back
- 49:51Speaker 3: in the and Pub. Yeah yeah, Well that's that's a given,
- 49:55Speaker 3: all right. Uh So uh, I mean you have to understand,
- 49:58Speaker 3: I mean, TJ. You're a numbers guy more than I am.
- 50:00Speaker 3: I mean people that says nobody's going to come to
- 50:03Speaker 3: Charleston to stay. Really, I mean, have you driven by
- 50:09Speaker 3: the Shawnee Sports Combat And I'll tell you this story
- 50:11Speaker 3: real quick. My wife reminded me I needed to tell
- 50:14Speaker 3: this story. This past weekend, she and I went up
- 50:16Speaker 3: to Easton the Columbus area of Ohio, and we're driving
- 50:20Speaker 3: in town. I don't know exactly where we were. I
- 50:21Speaker 3: just when we go somewhere, she just says, turn left,
- 50:24Speaker 3: turn right, you know, I just you know, listen to her.
- 50:26Speaker 3: So I don't know where we were. But we were
- 50:28Speaker 3: in Ohio, somewhere near Columbus, and we drove by one
- 50:32Speaker 3: of these multi field facilities. There had to be a
- 50:36Speaker 3: thousand people out there with all these different games, because
- 50:39Speaker 3: it just seemed like we just kept driving and Okay,
- 50:41Speaker 3: there's another game. There's another game. There's another on down
- 50:44Speaker 3: the line. And I said yesterday on the show back,
- 50:46Speaker 3: you know, in my younger days, a sporting event, a
- 50:49Speaker 3: road game was on the other end of the county. Yeah, no,
- 50:53Speaker 3: Now a road game is in Detroit or something. Look,
- 50:56Speaker 3: I think there's a need. You want to know why
- 50:58Speaker 3: somebody wouldn't open a hotel. Well, I'll tell you the
- 51:02Speaker 3: hassle factor.
- 51:03Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, something like like a Holiday Inn or a
- 51:05Speaker 5: Hampton in or something. A lot of those are franchises,
- 51:08Speaker 5: and so you've got somebody that's got to put their
- 51:10Speaker 5: capital to work. And if you take a look at
- 51:12Speaker 5: what they can get just sticking it in the market,
- 51:14Speaker 5: averaging eleven percent with no hassle of finding employees, running
- 51:18Speaker 5: a business, taking care of all of that.
- 51:21Speaker 3: I mean, that's the biggest deal. Do I think there's
- 51:23Speaker 3: a need here?
- 51:23Speaker 5: Yeah, I just think that there's easier ways to make
- 51:26Speaker 5: a buck than being in the hotel business. But I
- 51:29Speaker 5: would not argue that there's a need. I mean, like
- 51:31Speaker 5: you said, I'd drive by Shawnee all the time. You
- 51:35Speaker 5: drive by there on a Sunday morning on your way
- 51:36Speaker 5: to church on sixty four. I mean, I cannot fathom
- 51:40Speaker 5: where all those people come from. It's amazing come from
- 51:43Speaker 5: and they come, they come from all over. And anybody
- 51:47Speaker 5: that says that was a bad idea to pull that
- 51:48Speaker 5: golf course out and look, I love to golf, you
- 51:51Speaker 5: know that. Kudos to Selango on that one, brother, I
- 51:55Speaker 5: mean he got it right, right right indeed.

- 52:16Speaker 3: promised next to the Charleston Town Center. Is it's under
- 52:18Speaker 3: development from what I understand, I mean Poka Valley Bank
- 52:20Speaker 3: or had their building up before they even break ground
- 52:22Speaker 3: on the former Seers site, says a Texter. We'll save
- 52:25Speaker 3: that one for another day. What's on the show today?

- 52:39Speaker 3: You know that big Maral transmission line. We're gonna hear
- 52:42Speaker 3: from the people building it. I'm excited to hear their story.
- 52:44Speaker 3: I've got some tough questions, as William you should, because
- 52:47Speaker 3: I don't know anybody in Mond County or the surrounding areas.
- 52:50Speaker 3: That's for it. But kudos to her for a greeting
- 52:52Speaker 3: to come on the show. Oh yeah, very very much.
