- 0:06Speaker 2: Whist Stuarts and they wear a whist So, yeah, it's too.
- 0:11Speaker 3: Bad, but what did you expect.
- 0:13Speaker 1: It's a podcast called twenty five Whistles Wine. Welcome to
- 0:20Speaker 1: the show, edibowl the whistle. Let me show you got
- 0:22Speaker 1: something real quick. So open my mail, upten my glasses off.
- 0:31Speaker 1: In the mail, had this sent to me?
- 0:34Speaker 2: Check it out?
- 0:36Speaker 1: Oh it is a Purdue football helmet.
- 0:40Speaker 3: Is it a boiler maker?
- 0:41Speaker 1: It's a boiler maker helmet. It's a real one. Dude,
- 0:44Speaker 1: that's legit and go run into trees out of there.
- 0:47Speaker 3: That gold is so beautiful.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Yeah, wow, coach olt him send me the helmet.
- 0:51Speaker 4: That's all shiny.
- 0:52Speaker 1: And he said we should come up and be on
- 0:54Speaker 1: the sidelines for one of the games. And I told
- 0:57Speaker 1: him it's too cold, but if we come it'll be early.
- 1:00Speaker 4: Have you looked at their schedule?
- 1:01Speaker 1: I did. He sent me their schedule last night.
- 1:03Speaker 3: Okay, what are you looking at? Well?
- 1:04Speaker 1: I looked at ruggers. I also want to be there
- 1:06Speaker 1: for a game they can win. He's rebuilding a program.
- 1:08Speaker 1: You have.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Every time you talk to hevit goes up and down.
- 1:11Speaker 3: It's too funny.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Okay, so I got that, but probably gonna be ruggers
- 1:16Speaker 1: because I would like to have a game that they
- 1:17Speaker 1: have a chance of winning. I don't know Rutgers is
- 1:19Speaker 1: going to be good, but there's a reason they hired
- 1:21Speaker 1: a new coach, which is coach Odham, because the team
- 1:22Speaker 1: has not been good lately, so he's having to rebuild
- 1:25Speaker 1: the team. But he came to town. We hung out
- 1:26Speaker 1: at the Opry together. I took his daughter to meet
- 1:28Speaker 1: Laney Wilson. I told you all that, and yeah, he
- 1:31Speaker 1: sent me the helmet and the mail out of the
- 1:32Speaker 1: house and was like coming to whatever. So I don't know. Strategically,
- 1:36Speaker 1: I would need to see who Arkansas's playing, match it
- 1:39Speaker 1: up against it.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, And I don't want to be so cold.
- 1:43Speaker 1: What do you see, Kevin?
- 1:44Speaker 4: I mean early on September thirteenth, they play usc which.
- 1:48Speaker 3: You like that one Southern cal.
- 1:49Speaker 1: But also I don't want to have to like go
- 1:51Speaker 1: and be in the way for like a big, big
- 1:53Speaker 1: game too. It's not that, isn't Eddie, which he sent
- 1:56Speaker 1: hats for saying, oh, there's this.
- 1:58Speaker 3: One from Let's see I like that first one gold
- 2:02Speaker 3: gold brimde That gold is so cool. Looking.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Thank you, coach, Kevin.
- 2:06Speaker 4: Uh oh, dang, yeah, the one on your right hand.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Okay, and Brandon, you have the last man standing, so
- 2:15Speaker 1: you don't get a hat. Casey, was you for a
- 2:17Speaker 1: long time?
- 2:21Speaker 3: Graduated? Dude?
- 2:22Speaker 2: There you go.
- 2:23Speaker 3: Welcome to the club, Casey, thank you.
- 2:24Speaker 1: It used to be Casey who didn't get so now
- 2:27Speaker 1: it's Brandon. So Brandon, you have to kill somebody, thanks coach.
- 2:32Speaker 1: So that happens last night.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Quick question, though, do you think has this pushing it?
- 2:37Speaker 3: It could be pushing it. You think we can ask
- 2:39Speaker 3: coach if we can dress up, like dress up like
- 2:42Speaker 3: a boiler maker, like gear and everything from the sideline.
- 2:46Speaker 1: We don't play obviously, but like just kind of standing.
- 2:50Speaker 1: I think there are rules about dressing. I don't know
- 2:54Speaker 1: though now because of new scholarship rules and I don't know. No,
- 2:58Speaker 1: I'm not gonna ask that though.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Okay, because that'd be will do the recruit?
- 3:03Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna that would be funny though. So
- 3:07Speaker 1: I posted on my Twitter a video of me slapping
- 3:12Speaker 1: the helmet right, and I was like, I just got this,
- 3:15Speaker 1: And so then I get at a tweet d M.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Here we go and it says, hey, Bobby Hope is
- 3:24Speaker 1: find you doing well? Saw the post with you and
- 3:26Speaker 1: the Purdue helmet? Are you collecting them? Question mark? And
- 3:30Speaker 1: it's from Oh, I know who it is. You don't. No,
- 3:34Speaker 1: it's not from another Purdue person. Guess it's from Kansas
- 3:38Speaker 1: head coach Lance Leopold, who's been on the show. And
- 3:42Speaker 1: I said, I'm friends with the coach, otom but I
- 3:44Speaker 1: wouldn't turn one down from you, And he goes sending
- 3:47Speaker 1: you one to the mail.
- 3:50Speaker 3: Dude, that's your thing, your accident.
- 3:53Speaker 1: I didn't ask over the helmet.
- 3:55Speaker 3: You're gonna get the whole college football collection.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Yeah, he says, Oh, I didn't even see. He asked
- 4:03Speaker 1: me whide or blue.
- 4:05Speaker 3: Blue? You gotta go the traditional blue that's got the
- 4:09Speaker 3: whole jayhawk on it.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Right, just saw this, will take the blue and talking
- 4:17Speaker 1: about it on the show.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Now Edy wants one too?
- 4:24Speaker 1: Is this too much to ask? Can we dress?
- 4:31Speaker 3: Boom?
- 4:32Speaker 1: Okay, So now we got that coming.
- 4:33Speaker 3: In cool Huh, that's awesome. And then when you get
- 4:37Speaker 3: that one, who's gonna who's gonna video and who also
- 4:39Speaker 3: wants some of this action?
- 4:41Speaker 1: So yeah, so we're we're secondary Purdue fans.
- 4:44Speaker 4: I'm dealing with that, I love it.
- 4:46Speaker 2: Okay.
- 4:46Speaker 1: So the other thing is this is not a gift
- 4:48Speaker 1: for anybody, but.
- 4:49Speaker 3: A follow up here we keep thinking there's a gift.
- 4:52Speaker 1: What else my leather jacket market. I told you, guys,
- 4:59Speaker 1: I was ordering a leather jacket from a razor back.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Leather jacket is sweet, too expensive, I don't know, like
- 5:05Speaker 1: it's leather good.
- 5:10Speaker 3: You look tough, and.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Look at the back.
- 5:21Speaker 4: You needn't getting the hog on a hog, you know
- 5:28Speaker 4: what I'm saying.
- 5:28Speaker 3: What did the wife think of that?
- 5:30Speaker 1: Well, I'm glad you asked, because I opened it with
- 5:34Speaker 1: her around purposefully and I said, hey, me and the
- 5:37Speaker 1: guys from the show, we're talking about how you'd feel
- 5:39Speaker 1: about this jacket. And I put it on and she
- 5:44Speaker 1: looked at it and she said, well, that does look
- 5:46Speaker 1: like something you waste your money on. And then she said,
- 5:49Speaker 1: and it also looks like something you wear one time
- 5:51Speaker 1: and never again.
- 5:52Speaker 3: Okay.
- 5:53Speaker 1: And I said, but that one time I'll be looking good,
- 5:55Speaker 1: that's right. And she said, this will just collec dust
- 5:57Speaker 1: on the closet.
- 5:58Speaker 3: I don't see that happening.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Like a leather dude.
- 6:01Speaker 3: That looks so good, dude, and the pop callar good.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Yeah, you know this car is automatic.
- 6:12Speaker 4: Grease lighted a cigarette in your mouth?
- 6:18Speaker 1: Oh yeah, grease lightning, grease lightning.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Man, so feeling pretty good. I got my pretty helmet,
- 6:23Speaker 1: my razor back, leather jacket.
- 6:25Speaker 3: Dude, you're living life right now.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Man, life is so good.
- 6:28Speaker 4: You're like one of those characters where it's like, you know,
- 6:30Speaker 4: if the quarterback had the head of this and the
- 6:32Speaker 4: body of this, and it's like a different team for
- 6:35Speaker 4: each part of your body.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Yeah, well I only have I don't have the helmet
- 6:39Speaker 1: on anymore. But yeah, what today? Huh?
- 6:42Speaker 4: Yeah, that's pretty cool.
- 6:43Speaker 3: You you have a choice so purposely. You're not gonna
- 6:47Speaker 3: wear that one time and one time only.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Well, I won't wear it now because it's summer.
- 6:54Speaker 3: Yeah, but it's cold in the studio, so keep it on.
- 6:56Speaker 1: I normally i'll wear it for this show. I normally
- 6:57Speaker 1: don't wear leather anyway, just for animals, you know.
- 7:00Speaker 3: Oh yeah about is it real leather though?
- 7:02Speaker 1: Or is it pleather?
- 7:05Speaker 3: Smell? Let me smell.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Always got a hole in it. It's a leather jacket
- 7:08Speaker 1: on the oh than, but it could be pleather. What
- 7:10Speaker 1: do you think that smells like? That is a heart sniff,
- 7:14Speaker 1: no smell dud.
- 7:15Speaker 3: You should wear that's a bit every night.
- 7:17Speaker 1: What what is no smell? Man? Leather?
- 7:19Speaker 3: I think it's pleather.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Why would you bring that even into the mixed though?
- 7:23Speaker 1: Take me down because and you will not get ahead
- 7:26Speaker 1: next time either. The one guy who didn't get a trade.
- 7:29Speaker 1: It's all upset, it's bitter.
- 7:30Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm just saying you don't have to worry about
- 7:32Speaker 4: the animals.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Oh, good point.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Good point. I took it as an insults.
- 7:36Speaker 3: Good point.
- 7:37Speaker 1: That's actually a good point. And I think that what
- 7:38Speaker 1: I said. Yeah, I know you did make me feel good.
- 7:41Speaker 1: There is Brandon everybody who I took a shot at
- 7:44Speaker 1: and I thought he was taking a shot. Turns out
- 7:45Speaker 1: he wasn't taking a shot.
- 7:46Speaker 3: You took that shot back.
- 7:47Speaker 1: He's protecting that pulled the shot back. Okay, So I
- 7:51Speaker 1: have some stuff here. I played golf yesterday with Denay Hayes.
- 7:56Speaker 3: Oh yeah, how did that go?
- 7:58Speaker 1: Anybody familiar? She can me. She does a bunch of
- 8:01Speaker 1: social media stuff, very funny online. So we go play.
- 8:05Speaker 1: First of all, she won a national championship playing shortstop
- 8:08Speaker 1: or second base for Alabama.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Wow wow, I didn't know that national.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Yeah, as a freshman and then they went back to
- 8:14Speaker 1: the College World Series. I think she was a sophomore junior.
- 8:17Speaker 1: She on the Alabama softball team. Wow. So she played
- 8:19Speaker 1: second base or freshman year, I thin when they won
- 8:21Speaker 1: the championship, and then she played shortstop for three years
- 8:23Speaker 1: after that, so like high level athletes.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Sure, so she's good at golf.
- 8:28Speaker 1: So we go and I go and I think, I'm
- 8:34Speaker 1: I hate this about me. And I don't really know
- 8:38Speaker 1: her that well. But she plays golf in the middle
- 8:39Speaker 1: of the day. In my schedule, if I do get
- 8:41Speaker 1: to play, it's always in the middle of the day
- 8:43Speaker 1: because I don't have to work till five. I start
- 8:45Speaker 1: earlier and end like one or something. So off Eddie
- 8:47Speaker 1: and I ever play, it's at.
- 8:48Speaker 3: Like two, yeah, late in the day.
- 8:50Speaker 1: So it's a weird time. And I had seen on
- 8:52Speaker 1: her Instagram and we'd met one time before, and I
- 8:57Speaker 1: was like, hey, and I was thinking about doing some
- 8:59Speaker 1: content with her cause I knew she was a ball player.
- 9:01Speaker 1: And I think I saw that she was the MVP
- 9:02Speaker 1: of that softball game, the celebrity softball game. Oh yeah,
- 9:06Speaker 1: the Folds, Yes, And she was oh, that's right. She
- 9:10Speaker 1: looked like a dog. When she was playing, she was
- 9:12Speaker 1: sliding in shorts making crazy. I didn't know, and I
- 9:14Speaker 1: was like, what, what's her deal? So when I found
- 9:16Speaker 1: out she played softball at Alabama and won a national championship.
- 9:19Speaker 1: So she's playing golf, I'm like, hey, we should play golf.
- 9:21Speaker 1: And I'd texting on the way over there because we're
- 9:26Speaker 1: playing in my buddies course, and I was like, hey,
- 9:30Speaker 1: I'm gonna play from the white teas, thinking I'll play
- 9:32Speaker 1: from the white teas, and then she's the girls who
- 9:34Speaker 1: just play from the red teas and I'll be close.
- 9:35Speaker 3: It's nice.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Yeah, So that way, it's not because I forget a
- 9:38Speaker 1: lot of times i'm playing with women, I just drive
- 9:39Speaker 1: past their tees, not on purpose, but I'm not used
- 9:42Speaker 1: to stopping because we don't play with a lot of women.
- 9:45Speaker 1: And so she goes, yeah, I play from the whites too,
- 9:46Speaker 1: and I'm like, oh no, oh man, dude, she's a beast.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Really.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Yeah, So we were we played just skins, so we were.
- 9:54Speaker 1: It was like through ten, we were even. Through thirteen,
- 9:57Speaker 1: I think we were even. She won the last three holes. Dude,
- 9:59Speaker 1: she hits it further than I do, and I hit
- 10:01Speaker 1: it further than well, you guys do. She crushes it.
- 10:08Speaker 1: So it was like whack, and my iron game was good.
- 10:11Speaker 1: I hit a wall like whole fourteen or fifty literal wall. No,
- 10:14Speaker 1: I was just tired of the day long day. But
- 10:16Speaker 1: she's she is an athlete, like elite athlete, and so
- 10:19Speaker 1: she didn't she didn't play for the women's tea. She
- 10:21Speaker 1: played from the dude seas Wow, and she hit it
- 10:23Speaker 1: further than me almost every time.
- 10:24Speaker 4: Damn.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Yeah. So good for her, Yeah, yeah, she's good for her.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Great great And so.
- 10:31Speaker 3: Was she funny?
- 10:33Speaker 1: I mean we were playing golf.
- 10:34Speaker 3: And also that's the hard thing about comedians, Like you
- 10:36Speaker 3: expect me to be funny all the time, but like
- 10:38Speaker 3: they're just.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I think you don't have to be on Well,
- 10:41Speaker 1: she's funny, okay. But we were just kind of talking
- 10:43Speaker 1: shop a little bit. So it was we're talking content,
- 10:45Speaker 1: talk about TV show, so I did. We were just
- 10:48Speaker 1: kind of talking Yeah.
- 10:49Speaker 3: So it's unfair to comedians because you always want them
- 10:53Speaker 3: to be funny, you know. When we saw Adam Sandler though,
- 10:57Speaker 3: he was kind of funny, like.
- 10:58Speaker 1: On point, when Kevin Tarty a picture of them in.
- 11:00Speaker 3: The I want going to say that.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Thanks Eddie.
- 11:07Speaker 3: Pictures of the airport.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Yeah, so yeah, she's really good.
- 11:11Speaker 3: That's cool.
- 11:12Speaker 1: It's pretty crazy, Okay, I had a whole list of things.
- 11:15Speaker 1: So there's that, and there's that. I got my jacket. Ah.
- 11:19Speaker 1: You see, Texas State got invited the PAC twelve. The
- 11:22Speaker 1: huge especially when you come from Austin like that was southwest.
- 11:27Speaker 3: I mean that's like south of Austin to be in
- 11:29Speaker 3: the Pacific Atlantic.
- 11:32Speaker 1: What I'm going to that because there are schools that
- 11:34Speaker 1: were in the PAC twelve that around the AEC. I'm
- 11:36Speaker 1: not talking about that. I'm talking about that small school,
- 11:39Speaker 1: Texas State. Yeah, man is now going to be in
- 11:41Speaker 1: the PAC twelve. They're going to accept it. If they
- 11:43Speaker 1: haven't as a right now, they're about to accept it.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Wouldn't exactly. Yeah, and Texas is not that far from
- 11:48Speaker 1: the West coast when it comes to other schools, like
- 11:50Speaker 1: you're talking about California schools having a flight speaking of
- 11:53Speaker 1: Rutgers having a fly all the way across the country
- 11:55Speaker 1: to the Big Ten to do that. Yeah, so I
- 11:57Speaker 1: thought it was big. I thought it was crazy that
- 11:59Speaker 1: they got invited the pack.
- 12:00Speaker 4: Mike did Mike go there? Yeah, you know, let's go.
- 12:03Speaker 1: My school's gonna be a freaking outs go power four.
- 12:07Speaker 1: But maybe that'll be the power five again eventually, I
- 12:10Speaker 1: think is Boise State.
- 12:11Speaker 4: Maybe gets in there. Yeah, so you know San Diego State.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Anyway, I thought it was pretty cool. That is cool,
- 12:18Speaker 1: especially coming from Austin. Texas State also beat Texas and
- 12:22Speaker 1: baseball in the like the regionals this year of college baseball. Wow,
- 12:27Speaker 1: which was pretty wild up and coming. Okay, so we
- 12:30Speaker 1: got invited, I say we I did, But I anything
- 12:32Speaker 1: I can invite it to. I just expect you guys.
- 12:34Speaker 1: So maybe I should check with coach to make sure
- 12:35Speaker 1: you invited you guys too. But he's like, no, no,
- 12:38Speaker 1: not them, So I don't bring them.
- 12:41Speaker 4: Whatever you do.
- 12:43Speaker 1: I'm just gonna share all this stuff because I've had
- 12:44Speaker 1: it all on my list for a minute. So Brian
- 12:47Speaker 1: Anderson is he's been on the show before. He does
- 12:52Speaker 1: play by play for the Brewers. He's on NBA two
- 12:54Speaker 1: K is the voice of two K. I mean, he's
- 12:56Speaker 1: that announcer he does when he was with us. What
- 12:59Speaker 1: do we have want to talk about?
- 13:01Speaker 4: It was a tournament, Yeah, it was the tournament. Yeah,
- 13:03Speaker 4: there's like after the first round.
- 13:05Speaker 1: I believe because because he does everything. I don't remember
- 13:08Speaker 1: which sport we had him on for Watch Madness.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Yeah, so.
- 13:12Speaker 1: He hit me up and he said, hey, you should
- 13:16Speaker 1: come to Milwaukee for some Brewers because he does most
- 13:17Speaker 1: of the Brewers' home games. Yeah, And he said, do
- 13:22Speaker 1: you golf? And I was like, I golf? I said,
- 13:26Speaker 1: I never want to impose. I said, you do all
- 13:27Speaker 1: the Brewers home games he goes, Yeah, most of the
- 13:30Speaker 1: home games. He said, impose away and let's let's do
- 13:32Speaker 1: some golf and baseball. So we all got invited. I mean,
- 13:35Speaker 1: I guess we all didn't get invited.
- 13:36Speaker 3: He didn't say that.
- 13:37Speaker 1: I know.
- 13:38Speaker 5: I know.
- 13:39Speaker 1: His passport, that's true.
- 13:41Speaker 3: Yeah, he leaves the state is America.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Like, I'll never take him up on that. Maybe I should,
- 13:46Speaker 1: because he came to me to say that, but I
- 13:49Speaker 1: always felt like I'm just bothering, Like what am I
- 13:51Speaker 1: gonna do? Sit up there in the boots and watch him?
- 13:52Speaker 3: Yeah, he just start him the whole time, Like, I
- 13:55Speaker 3: don't know, I.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Don't know what the expectations did you get on the broadcast?
- 13:58Speaker 1: You might get still though I don't to, But so
- 14:01Speaker 1: does that mean have to sit up there for eight.
- 14:04Speaker 3: No, they'll probably puts you somewhere else, right, And does
- 14:07Speaker 3: it also mean like I got you or does that
- 14:09Speaker 3: mean just come up and buy your own ticket.
- 14:13Speaker 1: I think that means if I'm coming up, he got
- 14:15Speaker 1: because we're going to pick golf before the game, probably
- 14:17Speaker 1: like a night night game. I'm sure most of them are. Now,
- 14:20Speaker 1: it's not like Wriggling in the nineties stadium.
- 14:22Speaker 3: It's cool too, it does look cool.
- 14:24Speaker 4: Yeah, that's all with the slide, right, he goes all
- 14:25Speaker 4: the way down. Yeah, we can go on the slide because.
- 14:29Speaker 1: We're all right, transfer the game on the slide into
- 14:34Speaker 1: another invitation. Come on, and I'll not have two more
- 14:38Speaker 1: to tell you about. And I'll probably not take up
- 14:40Speaker 1: take anybody up on these because I always feel like
- 14:42Speaker 1: I'm imposing all the time. So Lionel Richie was tweeting
- 14:47Speaker 1: or his Instagram store on the other night about all
- 14:49Speaker 1: of its concert dates. Have I told you as this?
- 14:54Speaker 1: And so it was all European dates and it's all
- 14:57Speaker 1: through like August, and I woke up like two in
- 15:00Speaker 1: the morning, so I was kind of out of it
- 15:02Speaker 1: and I'm just scrolling through and I saw that and
- 15:03Speaker 1: I was like, man, I love to come one of these,
- 15:05Speaker 1: thinking Lionel didn't run his own socials. But I know Lionel.
- 15:09Speaker 1: If we saw each other, we would definitely houg and
- 15:11Speaker 1: spend time together. Oh, Eddie was with me once and
- 15:12Speaker 1: we saw him. It was amazing, Yeah, because Lionel was
- 15:14Speaker 1: like somebody, He's like, Bobby, that's amazing. Like I probably
- 15:19Speaker 1: feel we're just going to his house and knocking on
- 15:21Speaker 1: his door, but he might maybe, And he responds back
- 15:25Speaker 1: and he was like, yes, come to a show. And
- 15:28Speaker 1: so I kind of remember that. I woke up and
- 15:29Speaker 1: he hit me. He says, which one do you want
- 15:30Speaker 1: to come to? Like Copenhagen, And I'm going, oh no,
- 15:33Speaker 1: Now I'm bound to go to European Lionel Richie show.
- 15:36Speaker 1: So I thought, Eddie, we could go, but you don't
- 15:37Speaker 1: have your passport.
- 15:39Speaker 3: This is the second time I go to Milwaukee.
- 15:41Speaker 1: It was these are the most you literally we would
- 15:46Speaker 1: go if I had somebody to go with. My wife
- 15:47Speaker 1: can't go.
- 15:48Speaker 3: So I was still on hold on when when? When
- 15:50Speaker 3: do you think August? Because I'm doing my past in July.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Yeah, but then it takes like three months to get
- 15:56Speaker 1: three months you get expendited costs.
- 15:59Speaker 3: What about slipping.
- 16:01Speaker 1: The government in Spain in August, in Spain in August, Eddie.
- 16:07Speaker 1: It just depends when you get your past, because week
- 16:09Speaker 1: you've never been out of country.
- 16:10Speaker 3: By August, never Mexico, but that back then it was
- 16:13Speaker 3: a birth certificate. And you're good man.
- 16:14Speaker 4: I hate to say this, but he's going to be
- 16:16Speaker 4: in Austin on October first.
- 16:18Speaker 3: Austin, Texas.
- 16:20Speaker 1: But that's not a show show. I don't think it's
- 16:22Speaker 1: a book tour.
- 16:24Speaker 3: You're better, dude, better he reads his book.
- 16:31Speaker 1: So we got about to go to European Lionel shows, Eddie.
- 16:35Speaker 1: You can't go to that one because you have a passport.
- 16:37Speaker 3: And if you guys went without me, I'd.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Be we wouldn't.
- 16:40Speaker 4: We have nobody to blame about yourself.
- 16:42Speaker 1: I got the final thing, and this one I've already
- 16:43Speaker 1: said yes to, and I can't say exactly what it
- 16:45Speaker 1: is right now. I might could, but I can say
- 16:47Speaker 1: part of what it is.
- 16:49Speaker 3: So it's weird.
- 16:50Speaker 1: Last year I was the MVP of the Major League
- 16:54Speaker 1: Baseball Celebrity All Star Softball Game.
- 16:57Speaker 3: Did you play it out of your mind?
- 16:58Speaker 1: Of my mind? I was telling today that we're playing golf.
- 17:00Speaker 1: I was like it was one of those nights where
- 17:02Speaker 1: I played way above what like my normal line is
- 17:04Speaker 1: like I'm pretty good and like I can play okay,
- 17:08Speaker 1: but I was out of my mind. Everything I was
- 17:11Speaker 1: hitting and anything hit at me, it was just gobble, gobble, gobble,
- 17:15Speaker 1: and so not Turkey like gobbling the balls up.
- 17:18Speaker 3: Got it.
- 17:19Speaker 1: And so the All Star Game is in Atlanta this year,
- 17:22Speaker 1: and it's in a couple of weeks, and so they
- 17:25Speaker 1: usually don't invite the same celebrities to the tournament. It's
- 17:30Speaker 1: not a tournament to the game, the celebrity game year
- 17:32Speaker 1: after year because whomever won the MVP the year before
- 17:34Speaker 1: it was actual baseball player. It was one of the
- 17:36Speaker 1: brothers that played for the Mariners, Boone, one of the
- 17:41Speaker 1: Boone brothers, and maybe it was either.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Bread or he played on the Mariners.
- 17:46Speaker 1: But cool. And then so they don't have the same
- 17:53Speaker 1: celebrities back. But I did get invited to do something else,
- 17:58Speaker 1: and you can't say what it is. I can't say
- 18:00Speaker 1: what it is. However, I don't think they have people.
- 18:05Speaker 3: I don't think they the real home run derby.
- 18:08Speaker 1: I don't think they have like quote unquote celebrities do that.
- 18:12Speaker 1: But here's the thing that I have to do.
- 18:13Speaker 2: I have to.
- 18:14Speaker 1: I have two weeks and I have to go to
- 18:15Speaker 1: the batting cages.
- 18:16Speaker 3: Wow, And.
- 18:21Speaker 1: I don't know if I can say anything.
- 18:23Speaker 3: What's the date around that one All Star Wars?
- 18:26Speaker 1: What time do we leave? Brandon? You will be going,
- 18:28Speaker 1: for sure, and your drone? I bound out last night.
- 18:33Speaker 3: It's gonna be a problem the game.
- 18:37Speaker 1: But I will be doing something in Atlanta All Star weekend.
- 18:42Speaker 1: It is super cool and I gotta go. I gotta
- 18:44Speaker 1: go to the baseball batting cages.
- 18:45Speaker 5: Wow.
- 18:46Speaker 3: My mind's spinning right now with a lot of options.
- 18:49Speaker 1: So you can go to if you want.
- 18:51Speaker 3: I thought that was what this is. I thought we
- 18:53Speaker 3: were all invited. I got a invited on me.
- 18:57Speaker 1: He only invited me so far. I gotta find out.
- 19:00Speaker 1: I gotta find out what's up.
- 19:01Speaker 3: I mean, it's it's Atlanta, but we go back.
- 19:02Speaker 1: I don't have a passport, but it's we go down
- 19:04Speaker 1: the back same day too, even better, even better? You
- 19:07Speaker 1: have to so all that's coming.
- 19:08Speaker 3: Up, so I don't know what.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Let's go so you don't have to like get permissions?
- 19:11Speaker 3: Oh yeah that's big, yes, yeah yeah, like wife and
- 19:13Speaker 3: kids and I'll drive dud, don't worry about the drive.
- 19:15Speaker 1: We'll not do that. We'll take the plank.
- 19:18Speaker 4: If we're going back, that's eight hours of driving.
- 19:22Speaker 1: Yeah, if we're going back same day when we're just
- 19:24Speaker 1: going get on her plane, go right back. So yeah,
- 19:27Speaker 1: all that's coming up. That's pretty cool.
- 19:28Speaker 4: What do we have a timeline on when we can
- 19:30Speaker 4: talk about that more?
- 19:31Speaker 1: I asked this morning question. I have messaged Morgan number
- 19:34Speaker 1: one and I said to her, can I talk about blank?
- 19:41Speaker 1: And she said, I'll send a text see if you
- 19:43Speaker 1: can start promoting.
- 19:45Speaker 3: Okay, all right, okay, do you need a bat? You
- 19:51Speaker 3: need a bat?
- 19:52Speaker 1: I think the bats are going to be wolden.
- 19:58Speaker 3: This is getting better and better.
- 20:00Speaker 1: Are you playing in the game. Let's get wouldn't.
- 20:04Speaker 3: They're like, we loved your celebrity. You were so good
- 20:08Speaker 3: out of his mind? Yeah, so good stuff, dude.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Yeah, we have an interview coming up.
- 20:13Speaker 3: I mean the jacket, the helmet, this is like your
- 20:17Speaker 3: time right now, pleathor though, wow, I wasn't gonna sell that.
- 20:22Speaker 1: But so, do we want to go to Milwaukee? Do
- 20:25Speaker 1: we want to hit him up? So we want to
- 20:26Speaker 1: come to a game?
- 20:27Speaker 2: Yes?
- 20:28Speaker 1: Do we want to go on the produce sideline?
- 20:29Speaker 2: Yes?
- 20:30Speaker 1: We are going to ask for a Kansas helmet. Yes, blue.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Possibly we'll go to Atlanta. Yeah, there's some stuff.
- 20:38Speaker 3: There, Copenhagen. If my passport gets here on.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Time, fits in time. You know what, you've never been
- 20:43Speaker 1: out of the country.
- 20:44Speaker 3: Maybe we go in August Amsterdam. Do that's my first
- 20:46Speaker 3: time out of the country.
- 20:48Speaker 1: I've been the airport in Amsterdam.
- 20:49Speaker 3: That doesn't count, doesn't count.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:52Speaker 4: Hey, even if it doesn't get here, he's gotta he's
- 20:56Speaker 4: got a show.
- 20:57Speaker 1: September seventh, Santiago, Chile.
- 20:59Speaker 3: Sam Bro I'm not from Chile. Mars this is weird.
- 21:05Speaker 1: September eleventh and Buenos Airis.
- 21:08Speaker 3: I'm not from there.
- 21:09Speaker 1: I don't want to go there. That's more like, yeah,
- 21:12Speaker 1: that'd be more like.
- 21:13Speaker 3: Have you seen concerts from those South American places, Like yeah,
- 21:18Speaker 3: like there's a Pearl damn concert. I think it's in Argentina.
- 21:20Speaker 3: It looks like I mean, it looks like a wave
- 21:22Speaker 3: of people just jumping out the whole show. They don't.
- 21:25Speaker 1: I think they're just happy that like big acts because
- 21:27Speaker 1: they don't get down to South America a lot. Oh yeah, yeah,
- 21:29Speaker 1: that's why it's like, Honestly, if I go to North
- 21:31Speaker 1: Dakota and like do a show, they freak out because
- 21:33Speaker 1: they're just happy anybody's there. Like I'd be like good. Yeah,
- 21:40Speaker 1: coming up Virginia Tech head football coach Brent Prye. We
- 21:43Speaker 1: will talk to him right after this. Hey, coach, appreciate
- 21:48Speaker 1: the time, absolutely. Man. Got a couple of things. First,
- 21:51Speaker 1: we were just talking about the Metallica concert they were here,
- 21:55Speaker 1: and I think of Metallica now with Virginia Tech because
- 21:59Speaker 1: when you guys walk like that's really one of the
- 22:01Speaker 1: most sick entterests to the college football even just in
- 22:03Speaker 1: sports period. But then we started talking about the first
- 22:06Speaker 1: did you go to the concert when they were there?
- 22:08Speaker 2: Yes, sir?
- 22:09Speaker 1: Who opened that show?
- 22:10Speaker 2: Pantera?
- 22:11Speaker 1: Did you get a chance to watch Pantera at all
- 22:14Speaker 1: I did not? Okay, did you get there from Metallica?
- 22:16Speaker 1: And how was Metallic What kind of energy to Metallica
- 22:18Speaker 1: still bring?
- 22:19Speaker 5: I wasn't a Metallica fan going into it. I'm a
- 22:22Speaker 5: Metallica fan coming out the other side. They really put
- 22:26Speaker 5: on a great show. You know, got a chance to
- 22:28Speaker 5: meet them, really humble guys, kind they understood the gravity
- 22:34Speaker 5: of what the show meant to so many hokey, faithful,
- 22:37Speaker 5: so all in all, I was impressed.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Do you remember the first time you walked into the
- 22:42Speaker 1: stadium as that song was playing? Your first game as
- 22:44Speaker 1: head coach as head coach at Virginia Tech.
- 22:46Speaker 2: You know a game that was first time it habited
- 22:48Speaker 2: was the spring game.
- 22:49Speaker 5: I'm at the end of the tunnel and the team's
- 22:51Speaker 5: behind me. You've got one of our staffers after giving
- 22:54Speaker 5: me the countdown five four, three, two one, and then
- 22:56Speaker 5: you hit it running. You get everybody charging out behind you.
- 23:00Speaker 5: She's on like three, and the guys just push and
- 23:04Speaker 5: they start coming out. I mean, I about wiped out
- 23:07Speaker 5: my very first time running out to that. That's no joke,
- 23:12Speaker 5: I said, you guys, see this person up here with.
- 23:14Speaker 2: A hand up counting down. I'm not leaving until he
- 23:18Speaker 2: tells me.
- 23:19Speaker 1: These spring games have changed. What are you guys doing
- 23:22Speaker 1: this year? A lot of schools aren't having them at all.
- 23:24Speaker 5: Yeah, we believe in them. I still want that for
- 23:26Speaker 5: our fans. I want it for our kids. I think
- 23:29Speaker 5: it's a good experience to be in the in the stadium.
- 23:32Speaker 5: You know, we play four quarters. It's kind of modified.
- 23:36Speaker 5: The first one is a true quarter, and then second, third,
- 23:38Speaker 5: and fourth have some modifications. But it's good for some
- 23:42Speaker 5: of our young players and our developmental guys. I think
- 23:46Speaker 5: the you know, our fans. It's a big weekend in Blacksburg.
- 23:50Speaker 5: There's always softball and baseball.
- 23:52Speaker 2: And lots going on.
- 23:53Speaker 5: So it's, uh, you know, it's something that we get
- 23:57Speaker 5: excited about around here. I'd hate to see it go away.
- 23:59Speaker 1: So you in Nashville with coach Franklin, correct, and you
- 24:02Speaker 1: moved to Penn State with him?
- 24:03Speaker 2: Yes, sir?
- 24:03Speaker 1: What was he like to work under?
- 24:05Speaker 2: Oh, he's great. Yeah, he's he's a great leader. You know.
- 24:08Speaker 5: Obviously we had a lot of success at Vanderbilt that
- 24:11Speaker 5: they hadn't hadn't achieved prior to that. You know, we
- 24:15Speaker 5: had good staff, good people, and I loved our players there.
- 24:18Speaker 5: We had really good teams. Never the most talented, but
- 24:23Speaker 5: better teams.
- 24:24Speaker 2: And uh, you know James and I.
- 24:27Speaker 5: He played quarterback for my father in college and I
- 24:31Speaker 5: was a young coach and my first child. This was
- 24:34Speaker 5: at East Strausburg, little D two school in the Poconotes.
- 24:38Speaker 2: And so we've been friends a long time.
- 24:39Speaker 5: We came up in this business, you know, so I
- 24:41Speaker 5: was excited to jump on board with him and joined
- 24:44Speaker 5: forces at Vanderbilt and then Penn State for a bunch
- 24:46Speaker 5: of years.
- 24:48Speaker 2: It was tough to leave, even for a head job
- 24:50Speaker 2: like Virginia Tech.
- 24:51Speaker 5: You know, I loved working with James, and we accomplished
- 24:54Speaker 5: a lot of Penn State and Vanderbilt. In fact, when
- 24:57Speaker 5: I told him I said I'm gonna take this job
- 24:59Speaker 5: at Virginia, he said, what do you mean.
- 25:01Speaker 2: I thought we were going to coach together forever. I'm like, James,
- 25:05Speaker 2: it's the head job at Virginia Tech. I'm not going
- 25:10Speaker 2: to turn this one down.
- 25:11Speaker 1: I feel like I've been lucky enough to go to
- 25:12Speaker 1: a lot of cool places and see a lot of atmospheres.
- 25:14Speaker 1: I've not been to Virginia Tech. Like, so, what's cool
- 25:17Speaker 1: about Blacksburg? Well, if I came and went to a game,
- 25:19Speaker 1: what would I leave thinking and saying?
- 25:21Speaker 2: You would say, I can't believe this place is so beautiful.
- 25:24Speaker 5: I had no idea from you know, the the area,
- 25:29Speaker 5: the region of the country that it's in southwest Virginia
- 25:33Speaker 5: and the mountains. And then on top of that, everybody
- 25:38Speaker 5: in Blacksburg and everybody with Virginia Tech is just the
- 25:41Speaker 5: friendliest place. You know, our matra is this is this
- 25:45Speaker 5: is home, and that's why that's that's real. In our place,
- 25:49Speaker 5: people are very kind and generous, and it's a servant
- 25:52Speaker 5: minded place. But then the atmosphere in that stadium, you know,
- 25:57Speaker 5: we're it's it's blue collar Virginia Tech's shirts or T shirts.
- 26:01Speaker 5: Everybody stands up for the When you got an entrance
- 26:04Speaker 5: like that, he gets people pretty hype for the game.
- 26:07Speaker 5: So it's arguably the best entrance, but the atmosphere itself
- 26:11Speaker 5: carries through and there's been some incredible games in that
- 26:15Speaker 5: stadium and I was fortunate to be a part a
- 26:17Speaker 5: bunch of them. You know, my first run there ninety five,
- 26:20Speaker 5: six and seven is when we really were turning the
- 26:23Speaker 5: corner and we went to a Sugar Bowl in Big
- 26:25Speaker 5: Texas on New Year's Eve, followed it up with an
- 26:28Speaker 5: Orange Bowl trip against Nebraska and did some big things.
- 26:32Speaker 5: So it's always been special for me. It's that kind
- 26:35Speaker 5: of place. I tell our recruits and families. It's not
- 26:38Speaker 5: for everybody, but for those that identify with Virginia Tech,
- 26:42Speaker 5: it can be pretty special and you're going to leave
- 26:44Speaker 5: there loving it.
- 26:45Speaker 2: Well.
- 26:46Speaker 1: Can you give me a Coach Beamer story from your
- 26:48Speaker 1: first run there?
- 26:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I tell you. He's He's one of the most
- 26:54Speaker 2: kind and.
- 26:54Speaker 5: Considerate head coaches I've ever been around. He's just, you know,
- 26:59Speaker 5: you always wanted to make him proud.
- 27:02Speaker 2: No matter what. I still feel that way.
- 27:03Speaker 5: He comes into building a couple of days a week
- 27:05Speaker 5: and it's like, you know, surreal for me, I said,
- 27:08Speaker 5: at his desk he watched. I'm like, Coach, you want
- 27:11Speaker 5: to sit down, I get up, get you need to paper,
- 27:16Speaker 5: Like what can I do for you? Like, you know,
- 27:18Speaker 5: I come down the hallway here, here's all his college
- 27:21Speaker 5: Football Hall of Fame and all these accomplishments, and then
- 27:24Speaker 5: I walk into his office and so its maxed me
- 27:27Speaker 5: in the face every day. But uh, you know, that's
- 27:30Speaker 5: what I remember about coach. He was very smart, he
- 27:32Speaker 5: was very fair. He wanted you to treat others the
- 27:36Speaker 5: right way, you know, So cut my teeth there under
- 27:40Speaker 5: him and under Bud Foster.
- 27:41Speaker 2: And those guys.
- 27:42Speaker 5: So you know, it's great that we still see Coach,
- 27:46Speaker 5: you know, around town and in our in our facility.
- 27:49Speaker 1: Kind of weird that some of the teams and you
- 27:52Speaker 1: guys will have to do it too, But Cal's like
- 27:53Speaker 1: traveling to you guys this year, that that that's a
- 27:55Speaker 1: that's a long trip for those California guys to travel
- 27:58Speaker 1: all all the way over, and you guys gotta make
- 27:59Speaker 1: some of those. Looking at your schedule next year, you're
- 28:02Speaker 1: not playing anywhere West, but you do have some of
- 28:06Speaker 1: these teams coming over, Like when a team like Cow
- 28:09Speaker 1: comes over. Do you is that advantageous to the home
- 28:13Speaker 1: team knowing they're completely off their clock, their circadian rhythm
- 28:15Speaker 1: is completely different.
- 28:17Speaker 3: It can be.
- 28:18Speaker 5: I mean, it's obviously challenging. We went to Stanford last year.
- 28:22Speaker 5: We had a tough loss down at Miami on the
- 28:25Speaker 5: last played a game, and we had to follow that
- 28:28Speaker 5: up with a trip to Stanford, and in some ways
- 28:33Speaker 5: it was refreshing to get out of town kind of
- 28:36Speaker 5: get that loss even more behind us, and we went
- 28:40Speaker 5: out an extra day early. Our performance staff did a
- 28:44Speaker 5: tremendous job planning a trip. We were able to spend
- 28:50Speaker 5: some time with Hokies and friends that were with the
- 28:53Speaker 5: forty nine ers. We stayed right near their facility and
- 28:58Speaker 5: found good spot to practice and honestly played very well.
- 29:03Speaker 5: I think again, my hat's off to our performance group
- 29:06Speaker 5: that planned the trip, and our guys felt great in
- 29:10Speaker 5: a really good place. The administration supported us traveling the
- 29:15Speaker 5: right way, you know, on the right kind of plane,
- 29:18Speaker 5: and staying as long as we needed to to give
- 29:21Speaker 5: us the best chance to win in a challenging situation
- 29:23Speaker 5: like that.
- 29:24Speaker 1: Do you guys have a general manager for football?
- 29:27Speaker 2: We do?
- 29:27Speaker 1: And how has that been because that's a whole new relationship,
- 29:29Speaker 1: because it's a whole new position.
- 29:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:31Speaker 5: So the president of our collective triumph a fellow named
- 29:34Speaker 5: Kelly Worldwide. He's really the GM right now. But we've
- 29:38Speaker 5: got a you know, a second mate named Mike Casel.
- 29:42Speaker 5: It's been my chief of staff. He was with us
- 29:44Speaker 5: at Vanderbilt, he was with us the entire time at
- 29:46Speaker 5: Penn State, a very valuable member of the crew. Those
- 29:51Speaker 5: two guys, along with a couple of a couple of
- 29:54Speaker 5: other associates, kind of run that thing for us. But
- 29:58Speaker 5: the biggest challenge with with the front office and contracts
- 30:04Speaker 5: and it's everybody being syncd up. You know, you've got
- 30:07Speaker 5: a vein that you're coaching staff. You're ten to fifteen
- 30:11Speaker 5: guys now at this point. You got a vein that's
- 30:13Speaker 5: your recruiting department, your communications, you're on campus visits, and
- 30:18Speaker 5: then you have a vein that's your front office. You know,
- 30:21Speaker 5: that's contracts and inventory, and so getting all three of
- 30:27Speaker 5: those wings synced up and on the same page and
- 30:31Speaker 5: understanding where we are with particularly recruits. You're guys on
- 30:34Speaker 5: our team. You know that takes a lot of work,
- 30:38Speaker 5: takes great communication.
- 30:39Speaker 1: How do you guys pick captains?
- 30:41Speaker 5: So everybody has a vote, and the coaches vote counts twice.
- 30:46Speaker 5: You know, obviously we coach our guys up on what
- 30:49Speaker 5: Catholics look like and leaders look like. There's a lot
- 30:52Speaker 5: invested there so that they're choosing guys for the right reasons.
- 30:56Speaker 5: And in the end I'll have the final say so,
- 31:00Speaker 5: but you know, everybody's input is very important to me.
- 31:03Speaker 1: Got to win schime their coach, what kind of wind
- 31:05Speaker 1: chiming working with there?
- 31:06Speaker 5: We got three dogs contractors in it now here, I
- 31:11Speaker 5: am second day vacation. I meant the DMV, getting a
- 31:15Speaker 5: boat registered. I picked up a couple of palm trees
- 31:18Speaker 5: at home. People sitting in beach traffic.
- 31:22Speaker 1: Do you feel like you need to have those dead
- 31:24Speaker 1: periods or coaches need to have dead periods, otherwise they
- 31:27Speaker 1: would never take a break and eventually just fry themselves.
- 31:29Speaker 2: Yeah, it's hard.
- 31:30Speaker 5: Now, I'm a big believer in balance, not just for
- 31:33Speaker 5: myself or our staff, but for our team. I can't
- 31:37Speaker 5: personally be at my best and deliver my a game
- 31:41Speaker 5: if I don't get some balance in some time off
- 31:43Speaker 5: and away from them. But with today's technology, you know,
- 31:46Speaker 5: I mean, I've got zooms, I've got staff calls, I've
- 31:50Speaker 5: got recruiting needs. I mean there's guys trying to make
- 31:52Speaker 5: decisions right now. You know, out of the high school
- 31:55Speaker 5: ov's were coming off of, so there's a lot of
- 31:58Speaker 5: work that still has to be done. Can't shut it down.
- 32:02Speaker 5: I'll find a day maybe once a week here these
- 32:06Speaker 5: next few weeks where I just step away from the
- 32:09Speaker 5: phone and the iPad and clear my schedule. But you're
- 32:13Speaker 5: kind of juggling it all. It's just it doesn't stop.
- 32:16Speaker 5: But it's nice to be able to get out of
- 32:18Speaker 5: town and get away. And I love this time of
- 32:23Speaker 5: year because the coaches get a chance to take a
- 32:25Speaker 5: break and the team becomes player led. You know, your strengths,
- 32:29Speaker 5: dass involved, but everything else is the leaders on that
- 32:33Speaker 5: team stepping up and leading the groups.
- 32:36Speaker 1: I have three final questions. I do want to talk
- 32:37Speaker 1: about Michah Parsons for a second. He was awesome, right, Like,
- 32:41Speaker 1: what do you even ask he just in college? He
- 32:44Speaker 1: looked awesome. He's still dominant.
- 32:45Speaker 3: What was he like to coach?
- 32:46Speaker 2: Well?
- 32:46Speaker 5: I recruited Micah from ninth grade, the Lion coach and
- 32:50Speaker 5: I went down and watched him play, and he had
- 32:53Speaker 5: two and a half sacks, one for a fumble, he
- 32:56Speaker 5: blocked a punt, he blocked an extra point, and he
- 32:59Speaker 5: was the first just one down on kickoff. So we
- 33:01Speaker 5: offered him that night. He's clearly one of the most
- 33:04Speaker 5: talented guys I've ever coached in thirty five years. But
- 33:08Speaker 5: what separated him was he's arguably the most competitive guy
- 33:13Speaker 5: I've ever coached. When it came to, you know, competing
- 33:17Speaker 5: in one on ones or tire pools or pass rush.
- 33:20Speaker 2: Or bowling or chess, you name it. He wanted to
- 33:25Speaker 2: win so badly.
- 33:26Speaker 5: That's when he was at his absolute best, you know,
- 33:29Speaker 5: and his talent really came through.
- 33:31Speaker 1: Two questions left, Do you keep notes of the motivational
- 33:34Speaker 1: things that you say so you don't repeat them?
- 33:37Speaker 2: No, I'm pretty organic, you know.
- 33:40Speaker 5: I try and keep a good pulse on our team
- 33:42Speaker 5: and our staff and our culture, and you know, I'm
- 33:46Speaker 5: a big quote guy and good you know messaging. We
- 33:49Speaker 5: coach mentality as hard as we coaching anything else. I
- 33:52Speaker 5: just think it's a skill set that you want to
- 33:54Speaker 5: make sure guys are maximizing, just like speed or strength
- 33:57Speaker 5: or ability.
- 33:58Speaker 2: To catch the ball.
- 34:00Speaker 5: So we coached all the time, and you know, team building.
- 34:03Speaker 5: We've doubled down there this offseason. Every Wednesday was devoted
- 34:07Speaker 5: to team building. We try to stay clear of anything
- 34:09Speaker 5: football other than that. But you know, I think it's
- 34:13Speaker 5: important that you understand.
- 34:16Speaker 2: Where your team is.
- 34:17Speaker 5: And it's not just what I think. You know, there's communication,
- 34:22Speaker 5: there's feedback. I grow the most as a coach, you know,
- 34:25Speaker 5: through the feedback through some hard conversations, and so for me,
- 34:31Speaker 5: it's organic and I want it to be genuine and
- 34:34Speaker 5: real and we're very transparent at our place both ways.
- 34:38Speaker 1: So a final question just to do with the schedule.
- 34:41Speaker 1: You guys have a pretty favorable schedule when it comes
- 34:43Speaker 1: to where you're playing, who you're playing. And I'm not
- 34:46Speaker 1: asking a goal as far as a record, but like
- 34:48Speaker 1: generally speaking, what's the goal that you're going into the season.
- 34:51Speaker 1: What do you guys have upon the board?
- 34:52Speaker 5: Yeah, we want to play. We want to play to
- 34:54Speaker 5: our potential. We don't feel like we did that last year,
- 34:57Speaker 5: not consistently. We played really well at times, but to
- 35:02Speaker 5: be the team that can compete, you know, for a
- 35:05Speaker 5: championship in this league and try and slide in those playoffs,
- 35:09Speaker 5: and we got to play to our potential. We're more
- 35:11Speaker 5: than talented enough to do it. And we've got the
- 35:13Speaker 5: investment in the sacrifice where it needs to be, you know,
- 35:17Speaker 5: as coaches and players, you know, we got to reach
- 35:20Speaker 5: our potential each week.
- 35:22Speaker 1: Coach, really appreciate the time. One day we're gonna get
- 35:25Speaker 1: out there. When you get out to call Tech.
- 35:27Speaker 3: I hear you. I hear you. It's close.
- 35:28Speaker 2: Will not regret it. We will not regret it.
- 35:31Speaker 1: I hear you. You like the color? You like the
- 35:33Speaker 1: color of gin Tech color? What is that color? I'm colorblind?
- 35:35Speaker 1: But what color would you say?
- 35:36Speaker 3: That is?
- 35:36Speaker 1: What color?
- 35:37Speaker 2: Do they say that we're orange of maroon?
- 35:39Speaker 1: That's maroon? Do you guys collect that maroon?
- 35:42Speaker 3: It kind of looks like maroon.
- 35:43Speaker 1: I'm color I'm colorblind, for like for sure, for sure,
- 35:47Speaker 1: I didn't know it's maroon. Maybe I like them a
- 35:48Speaker 1: little more than that. Yeah, I didn't know, coach Hope,
- 35:51Speaker 1: you have a good break. Thank you for giving us
- 35:53Speaker 1: the time. And uh do you say, go hokies? What
- 35:55Speaker 1: do you what do you guys say at the end
- 35:56Speaker 1: of interviews? Yeah, go hoky, go hokey. All right, coach good.
- 36:00Speaker 3: See you all right.
- 36:07Speaker 1: Thanks to Coach Pry for being on. I watched NBA
- 36:10Speaker 1: drafts mildly entertained for like six minutes. I only wanted
- 36:17Speaker 1: to see two things. Did they draft Cooper Flag at
- 36:19Speaker 1: number one? They did, obviously, And where would Ace Bailey go?
- 36:23Speaker 1: Because he was like, I don't want to play for
- 36:25Speaker 1: and he listed all the teams and he got drafted
- 36:26Speaker 1: by one of the teams he didn't want to play
- 36:28Speaker 1: for because he probably would have been the second or
- 36:29Speaker 1: third pick, the kid from Ruggers. He was hurt a
- 36:31Speaker 1: little bit. But Dylan Harper, which is crazy, also played
- 36:34Speaker 1: at Ruggers. But his dad, you know his dad is Yeah.
- 36:36Speaker 4: Harper didn't known till after he got drafted.
- 36:38Speaker 1: Yeah, when number two.
- 36:40Speaker 6: His mom got a lot of attention too. I don't
- 36:42Speaker 6: know if he said Kevin talked about her.
- 36:45Speaker 4: I didn't say no such thing.
- 36:47Speaker 1: I didn't say no such thing. What was it?
- 36:51Speaker 3: Me?
- 36:52Speaker 1: Ton Kannepple went forward to Charlotte. Oh, and he had
- 36:55Speaker 1: all his brothers, like he's the oldest of like five brothers.
- 36:57Speaker 1: Really yeah, and they're all like big, tall, athletic white boys,
- 37:01Speaker 1: even the smallest one, and he's the oldest.
- 37:03Speaker 3: So that means they're gonna be Yeah, they're gonna be
- 37:05Speaker 3: up there.
- 37:06Speaker 1: And Ace Bailey went to Utah so and he hasn't
- 37:08Speaker 1: showed up yet yet. That's all the right now. Even
- 37:10Speaker 1: the press conference he didn't. I mean, he wasn't there
- 37:12Speaker 1: for the press conference.
- 37:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:13Speaker 4: And uh, the Florida kid he got drafted by them too, right,
- 37:16Speaker 4: and he's there. Yeah, but their top five pick isn't there?
- 37:19Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 37:20Speaker 3: Is that Braddy?
- 37:21Speaker 1: Like yeah, it's entitlement sure, and when they draft him.
- 37:26Speaker 1: Because I stopped watching after that because there were no
- 37:28Speaker 1: Arkansas guys. I just wanted to see those two people,
- 37:30Speaker 1: Cooper Flag and where Ace Bailey fell to because once
- 37:33Speaker 1: the Baylor kid went at three, I was like Aaron
- 37:35Speaker 1: Rodgers action were into it. Let's see how long. But
- 37:37Speaker 1: then Bailey went at five. Yeah, I thought he'd fall
- 37:39Speaker 1: to six because he said he did not want to
- 37:41Speaker 1: play for Utah. But Utah was like yeah, shut up,
- 37:45Speaker 1: don't care. Well, Utah has freaking Danny Ainge as the
- 37:47Speaker 1: gu and Danny ahe d gaf. Danny Ainge is like
- 37:51Speaker 1: the greatest human athlete I think the earth has ever
- 37:53Speaker 1: seen in general. Have you ever see that he played
- 37:56Speaker 1: minor league baseball NBA, was like great All state quarterback
- 38:02Speaker 1: in high school whatever all that is. But he like
- 38:04Speaker 1: one of the greatest peer athletes ever. And he was like,
- 38:07Speaker 1: all right, he's Bailey came on drafting him.
- 38:09Speaker 4: Yeah, he doesn't care. And that Celtics doc that came
- 38:12Speaker 4: out recently, he talked about when he was playing on
- 38:14Speaker 4: the Celtics and Larry Bird was getting older, he's he
- 38:16Speaker 4: told their GM trade him, get him out of here.
- 38:19Speaker 4: It's like Larry Bird like, I don't care.
- 38:22Speaker 1: That's what Belichick did though. Yeah, he'd try to trade
- 38:25Speaker 1: him a year before they would get bad, rather than
- 38:27Speaker 1: a year after. Belichick he would try to trade Larry Bird. No, no, no,
- 38:31Speaker 1: I think you're mixing up stories here. I was making
- 38:33Speaker 1: a Kevin analogy. I got it.
- 38:36Speaker 3: I got it.
- 38:36Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, that's why I traded. That's why Brady ended
- 38:39Speaker 1: up not being kept. Yeah, because he wasn't traded. He
- 38:43Speaker 1: left as a free agent correct in one of those
- 38:46Speaker 1: suit that was crazy one. So yeah, yeah, uh, it
- 38:50Speaker 1: was mildly entertaining. And then I wanted to see where
- 38:52Speaker 1: I do. Therea went and he was drafted I think
- 38:54Speaker 1: by Brooklyn and then traded the Lakers. He's an Arkansas
- 38:56Speaker 1: guy early second round. But yeah, what's up?
- 38:58Speaker 3: I saw the Cowboys like Michael Parsons and and Ceedee Lamb, like,
- 39:03Speaker 3: all right, flag, welcome to Dallas. Cooper's coming. Oh yeah,
- 39:07Speaker 3: pretty cool. One of they'll hang out and be friends
- 39:10Speaker 3: and stuff.
- 39:11Speaker 1: Why not?
- 39:11Speaker 3: No, probably not.
- 39:12Speaker 1: Halliburton does have a torn achilles. That sucks so bad
- 39:15Speaker 1: for the fan base. It sucks for him, but it
- 39:18Speaker 1: sucks so bad for the fan base because they lost
- 39:21Speaker 1: Game seven. Let's say they lost it with Halliburton, there
- 39:23Speaker 1: was there would be so much excitement going into next year, hm,
- 39:26Speaker 1: because the whole core group would be back. Yeah, and
- 39:30Speaker 1: now he's gonna miss the whole year.
- 39:33Speaker 3: And even when you do come back, like, I just like,
- 39:36Speaker 3: can you play one hundred percent?
- 39:38Speaker 1: I saw a stat all these famous players they torn
- 39:43Speaker 1: achilles and came back, what their percentage was versus what
- 39:46Speaker 1: the percentage was afterward.
- 39:47Speaker 3: And that's cool.
- 39:48Speaker 1: It didn't look good.
- 39:49Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean you just you just worry now because
- 39:51Speaker 3: how how easy it was when it happened, and.
- 39:54Speaker 1: I wish I had that. I don't have it because
- 39:55Speaker 1: it's it didn't look good. What a stupid thing to say.
- 39:58Speaker 1: But there was not a single person that was as
- 40:00Speaker 1: good as before they were injured. And what sucks to Halibert,
- 40:03Speaker 1: I mean Kevin and the Celtics, like Jason Tatum prime
- 40:07Speaker 1: of his career. I mean, Clay is one of the
- 40:09Speaker 1: last people that I remember it.
- 40:11Speaker 3: Being Durant too in that finals. Yep.
- 40:13Speaker 1: Yeah, So that sucks for the town of Indianapolis because
- 40:18Speaker 1: they had so much to be excited about even after
- 40:20Speaker 1: a loss.
- 40:21Speaker 3: At least they got Kitten Clark. That's what I was
- 40:22Speaker 3: gonna say. They have Kitlin Clark.
- 40:24Speaker 1: Yeah, that's pretty awesome, but not the same, not the same,
- 40:27Speaker 1: not the same.
- 40:29Speaker 3: They got the Colts.
- 40:31Speaker 7: Yeah, they that's true too, but Colts not the same.
- 40:34Speaker 7: That the race is still there, not the draft, the
- 40:41Speaker 7: combine combine some stuff.
- 40:46Speaker 3: About it though.
- 40:47Speaker 6: Yeah, did you guys see that Yang Hansen guy that
- 40:51Speaker 6: got drafted? Like the second coming of Yao ming over here?
- 40:54Speaker 1: Now, I was more thinking about like Indy.
- 40:58Speaker 3: Oh is he from Indy?
- 41:02Speaker 1: He, of course he's not. Sucks for Indy. I mean
- 41:08Speaker 1: produce like an hour above Indy. Yeah, they have coach.
- 41:13Speaker 3: Upside.
- 41:13Speaker 1: Yeah that sucks. Sorry, Andy, Yeah, Durantce go onto the Rockets.
- 41:17Speaker 1: So we talked about that.
- 41:19Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll hit you with a.
- 41:20Speaker 1: Quick list, my quick list of the most annoying fan
- 41:23Speaker 1: bases in sports. Look at the cameras. We'll get this
- 41:26Speaker 1: for a get secial clip.
- 41:27Speaker 3: Cowboys are on there first.
- 41:28Speaker 7: And now.
- 41:30Speaker 3: Why do you talk over me again? Okay?
- 41:32Speaker 1: Hold on? Did you maybe didn't talk over me? Take
- 41:34Speaker 1: two action and now the most annoying fan base is
- 41:39Speaker 1: in sports, according to me, in the leather jacket in
- 41:43Speaker 1: the summer, you have sweating a whole bit.
- 41:46Speaker 3: You gotta leave it.
- 41:47Speaker 1: Leave it on. At number five, Philadelphia Eagles fans amen.
- 41:54Speaker 1: Not because they win, that's cool. I kind of like
- 41:57Speaker 1: the grit of the Eagles, but because I'm scared of them.
- 42:01Speaker 3: They're mean.
- 42:03Speaker 1: Net's become their identity, so they do it more just
- 42:05Speaker 1: for it to remain their identity. So, Eagles fans, I
- 42:08Speaker 1: am scared of you, but enough of them will beat
- 42:12Speaker 1: you up.
- 42:12Speaker 3: We got it, Okay.
- 42:14Speaker 1: Number four, the Dallas Cowboys, Oh stupid, fair weather and loud.
- 42:22Speaker 1: I'd like to do two impressions of a Dallas Cowboys
- 42:25Speaker 1: fan impression and one. Two games into the season, we're
- 42:29Speaker 1: two and oh, we can win this thing. Let's go
- 42:32Speaker 1: the little Cowboys. Whoa two weeks later, God, we're two
- 42:36Speaker 1: and two. We suck. We're the worst. I quit watching
- 42:38Speaker 1: the game. Thank you. Those are my impressions.
- 42:41Speaker 3: Pretty accurate.
- 42:41Speaker 1: Yeah yeah. At number three on my list, Duke Basketball.
- 42:47Speaker 1: Bunch of rich kids who have great haircuts, and their
- 42:51Speaker 1: haircuts are always fresh, which means they spend a lot
- 42:54Speaker 1: of money on haircuts because you have to get them
- 42:56Speaker 1: all the time to remain fresh. And that's how we
- 42:58Speaker 1: know you're rich. You've always got a fresh hair cut.
- 43:00Speaker 1: You're rich. And because ESPN loves you so much, I
- 43:05Speaker 1: don't so. At number three, most annoying fan bases Duke
- 43:09Speaker 1: basketball and what's that.
- 43:10Speaker 3: Thing they do? Random player? It's annoying.
- 43:14Speaker 1: OHT mind that so much? Ye know? For me, it's
- 43:17Speaker 1: the fresh aircuts all the time.
- 43:18Speaker 3: I don't know why.
- 43:19Speaker 1: It's always a thing. At number two, Tennessee Volunteer Football,
- 43:24Speaker 1: Go balls worst but catch you a song In sports
- 43:30Speaker 1: you would think by the entitlement they have as a
- 43:33Speaker 1: football program that they've won the last ten national titles
- 43:36Speaker 1: in football. I just checked. Nope, not at all. No
- 43:42Speaker 1: national titles a long time.
- 43:43Speaker 4: When's the last time, Kevin nineteen ninety nine.
- 43:46Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a bad a year for me. That's t
- 43:49Speaker 1: Martin here, that's US fumbling, Arkansas fumbling. We lost that game.
- 43:55Speaker 1: That's also why I kind of probably hate them. And
- 43:57Speaker 1: because they live close, you kind of hate that number one.
- 44:01Speaker 3: Oh, I know this one.
- 44:02Speaker 1: I bet you don't obvious. I bet you don't.
- 44:11Speaker 3: No star Orange.
- 44:14Speaker 1: Oh, Texas, Well, they're not the most number.
- 44:17Speaker 3: I'm shocked.
- 44:18Speaker 4: Not the team he haates the most, the most annoying
- 44:20Speaker 4: fan base.
- 44:20Speaker 3: Yes, oh, the fan base of Texas is.
- 44:24Speaker 1: Oh. I hate the Longhorns as a team. Yeah, and Kansas.
- 44:27Speaker 1: We're taught to hate the freaking Longhorns. And they have
- 44:30Speaker 1: more money than everybody and they don't win near as
- 44:32Speaker 1: much of some of the buddies, which is crazy. If
- 44:34Speaker 1: you have more money and you have more resources, you
- 44:36Speaker 1: should be able to turn those resources into national championships,
- 44:38Speaker 1: and they don't. But this isn't a Texas hater. They
- 44:41Speaker 1: don't even make my top five most annoying. I don't
- 44:43Speaker 1: even they don't even exist in the base world. Okay, yeah,
- 44:48Speaker 1: I don't feel like they're that like actively annoying. No, right, no,
- 44:53Speaker 1: I hate them, but they're not annoying.
- 44:54Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I'll never forget.
- 44:56Speaker 5: Man.
- 44:56Speaker 3: I was working on a Saturday morning at my news
- 44:58Speaker 3: station right by the stadium and they saw some two
- 45:02Speaker 3: Texas fans peen on my tires. Ever since then, you
- 45:05Speaker 3: guys are annoying.
- 45:05Speaker 1: Isn't that individuals though, Well, it's more like a personally.
- 45:08Speaker 4: Cowboys fans do that.
- 45:11Speaker 1: Every Cowboys fan is peene on eddie. The number one
- 45:16Speaker 1: most annoying fan base in all of sports is and
- 45:20Speaker 1: by the way, they are the most entitled group in
- 45:22Speaker 1: the history of sports fans. And they show up by
- 45:26Speaker 1: the hundreds, and it's like a virus that takes over
- 45:29Speaker 1: wherever they're going into. And it's Kentucky basketball, man, And
- 45:34Speaker 1: let's say there are ten thousand Kentucky basketball fans. If
- 45:37Speaker 1: I were to do the math, sixteeth.
- 45:41Speaker 3: Oh, come by carry the one. Yeah, there you go.
- 45:48Speaker 3: That's cold, dude, And we got your coach. What do
- 45:51Speaker 3: you think about that? Yeah, he's not wearing blue anymore.
- 45:54Speaker 1: Dude, this jacket's so hot. You're sweaty jackets. You're getting you.
- 46:01Speaker 1: I'm going to freaking leather lame pleathar lame jacket, sweating
- 46:05Speaker 1: my balls off. The thing I have to say about
- 46:08Speaker 1: all five of these, though, is like you have to
- 46:10Speaker 1: respect it. They're annoying because they win.
- 46:13Speaker 3: That's right, It's true, especially number four on your list there.
- 46:16Speaker 3: You gotta respect it.
- 46:17Speaker 1: No, that one's a fair weather what do you mean, Yeah,
- 46:19Speaker 1: that's the only one that doesn't really.
- 46:20Speaker 3: A full list. You gotta respect of that list.
- 46:23Speaker 2: You winning.
- 46:26Speaker 1: I think the Cowboys got annoying because of the winning
- 46:27Speaker 1: they did in the nineties. They just can't let it go.
- 46:29Speaker 3: Yeah, we're still hoping that happens again.

- 46:51Speaker 1: Cowboys fan. Yes, that affects me. Brandon's a Cowboys fan.
- 46:54Speaker 1: That affects me. Kevin's a Tennessee fan. That's stupid, like
- 46:58Speaker 1: a Texas fan. But that fan. Mike's nice though.

- 47:05Speaker 4: Don't put mic and sme categories at you though.
- 47:08Speaker 3: Humans.
- 47:08Speaker 1: Oh, I don't give up like Eddie does. Eddie gives
- 47:12Speaker 1: up every game, every game they lose.
- 47:14Speaker 3: When you're starting, quarterback goes down. Yeah, you start giving up.
- 47:17Speaker 4: He stops watching games when they're losing.
- 47:19Speaker 3: That's not true. I've never done that.
- 47:21Speaker 1: It just goes to soccer. He didn't watch football anymore.
- 47:23Speaker 1: He watches football. He's like, I'm out of here, horses. Yes,
