February 28 - Faithfulness Without Recognition · Bible Chat Devotional

• 0:02
Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
• 0:06
rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, February 28th.
• 0:11
Kindness that echoes Have you ever walked away from a moment
• 0:15
of kindness and wondered if it even mattered?
• 0:17
You showed up, you helped, you spoke gently, and yet there was
• 0:21
no applause, no thank you, no obvious result.
• 0:25
It's easy to feel like kindness is wasted in a world that
• 0:28
rewards being loud, aggressive, or self focused.
• 0:32
But God sees kindness very differently.
• 0:35
Proverbs Chapter 11, verses 16 to 17 tell us something
• 0:39
surprising. It says a gracious woman gets
• 0:42
honor and violent men get riches.
• 0:45
A man who is kind benefits himself, but a cruel man hurts
• 0:48
  himself. Kindness isn't weakness, it's
• 0:51
not losing ground. God says kindness actually comes
• 0:54
back to you. It shapes your character,
• 0:58
protects your heart, and leaves you better than before.
• 1:01
Cruelty, on the other hand, always turns inward and causes
• 1:04
damage, even if it looks successful on the outside.
• 1:08
Psalm 24 lifts our perspective even higher.
• 1:12
Psalm chapter 24 verse one says the earth is the Lord's and the
• 1:16
fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein.
• 1:20
Every person you meet belongs to God.
• 1:23
Every life carries value because it's His.
• 1:26
When you choose kindness, you're not just being nice.
• 1:29
You're reflecting God's heart toward people he deeply loves.
• 1:33
Kindness becomes an act of worship, a way of acknowledging
• 1:36
that this world and everyone in it belongs to Him.
• 1:39
Then we see kindness in action in Acts chapter 28.
• 1:44
Paul has survived A shipwreck, danger, and exhaustion.
• 1:47
He arrives on an island with nothing to offer but his
• 1:50
presence. Yet the people there show
• 1:52
extraordinary kindness, and Acts chapter 28, verse 10 says that
• 1:58
they honored them greatly and provided everything they needed
• 2:01
for the next part of the journey.
• 2:03
Their kindness didn't just meet a momentary need.
• 2:06
It changed the story. It helped carry the mission
• 2:09
forward. That's the part we often don't
• 2:11
  see. Kindness echoes.
• 2:13
It ripples out farther than the moment it's given.
• 2:17
A gentle response can soften a hard heart.
• 2:19
A small act can restore hope. A patient word can keep someone
• 2:23
from giving up. Even when it goes unnoticed by
• 2:25
people, it is never unnoticed by God.
• 2:29
You may never fully know how your kindness effects others,
• 2:32
but God does, and He uses it to reveal His goodness in ways you
• 2:37
may only understand. On the other side of eternity,
• 2:40
kindness plants seeds of grace. It creates space for healing.
• 2:44
It reflects a Kingdom that works very differently from the world.
• 2:48
So don't underestimate the power of a kind choice.
• 2:52
Don't dismiss small acts done in love in God's hands.
• 2:55
Kindness always carries more weight than you think, and it
• 2:58
leaves a mark that lasts far longer than the moment.
• 3:01
Let's pray, Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for
• 3:05
the kindness you show me every single day.
• 3:08
Thank you for your patience, Your mercy, and Your grace
• 3:10
toward my life. Help me to see people the way
• 3:14
you see them and to treat them with compassion and care.
• 3:17
Teach me to choose kindness, even when it's unnoticed or
• 3:20
inconvenient. Use my words and actions to
• 3:24
reflect your heart so that others can experience Your
• 3:26
goodness through me. In Jesus name, Amen.

Journey Now I invite you to spend time with God in today's
• 4:49
three-year Bible reading plan. Proverbs Chapter 11 verses 16 to
• 4:54
17 World English Bible A gracious woman obtains honor,
• 4:59
but violent men obtain riches. The merciful man does good to
• 5:03
his own soul, but he who is cruel troubles his own flesh.
• 5:07
Psalm Chapter 24 World English Bible A Psalm by David The earth
• 5:12
is Yahweh's with its fullness the world and those who dwell in
• 5:15
it. For he has founded it on the
• 5:17
seas and established it on the floods.
• 5:19
Who may ascend to Yahweh's hill? Who may stand in His holy place,
• 5:23
He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted
• 5:27
up his soul to falsehood and has not sworn deceitfully, He shall
• 5:31
receive a blessing from Yahweh, righteousness from the God of
• 5:34
His salvation. This is the generation of those
• 5:36
who seek Him, who seek your face, even Jacob.
• 5:39
Selah. Lift up your heads, you gates.
• 5:42
Be lifted up, you everlasting doors, and the King of glory
• 5:45
will come in. Who is the King of glory?
• 5:48
Yahweh, strong and mighty. Yahweh, mighty in battle, lift
• 5:51
up your heads, you gates, yes, lift them up, you everlasting
• 5:54
doors, and the king of glory will come in.
• 5:56
Who is this King of glory? Yahweh of armies is the king of
• 5:59
  glory. Selah.
• 6:01
Acts chapter 28 World English Bible When we had escaped then
• 6:05
they learned that the island was called Malta.
• 6:08
The natives showed us uncommon kindness, for they kindled a
• 6:11
fire and received us all because of the present rain and because
• 6:15
of the cold. But when Paul had gathered a
• 6:17
bundle of sticks and laid them on the fire, a Viper came out
• 6:20
because of the heat and fastened on his hand.
• 6:22
When the natives saw the creature hanging from his hand,
• 6:25
they said to one another, No doubt this man is a murderer
• 6:28
whom though he has escaped from the sea, yet justice has not
• 6:31
allowed to live. However, he shook off the
• 6:34
creature into the fire and wasn't harmed.
• 6:36
But they expected that he would have swollen or fallen down dead
• 6:40
suddenly. But when they watched for a long
• 6:42
time and saw nothing bad happened to him, they changed
• 6:45
their minds and said that he was a God.
• 6:47
Now in the neighborhood of that place where lands belonging to
• 6:50
the chief man of the island named Publius, who received us
• 6:54
and courteously entertained us for three days the father of
• 6:58
Publius lay sick of fever and dysentery.
• 7:01
Paul entered into him, prayed, and laying his hands on him,
• 7:04
healed him. Then when this was done, the
• 7:06
rest also, who had diseases in the island, came and were cured.
• 7:10
They also honored us with many honors, and when we sailed they
• 7:14
put on board the things that we needed.
• 7:16
After three months we set sail in a ship of Alexandria, which
• 7:19
had wintered in the island, whose figurehead was the twin
• 7:22
brothers touching at Syracuse. We stayed there three days.
• 7:26
From there we circled around and arrived at Regem after one day
• 7:30
AS wind sprang up, and on the second day we came to Putiali,
• 7:34
where we found brothers, and we're entreated to stay with
• 7:36
them for seven days. So we came to Rome.
• 7:40
From there the brothers, when they heard of us, came to meet
• 7:42
us as far as the market of a Pius in the three Taverns.
• 7:46
When Paul saw them, he thanked God and took courage.
• 7:49
When we entered into Rome, the centurion delivered the
• 7:52
prisoners to the captain of the guard, but Paul was allowed to
• 7:55
stay by himself with the soldier who guarded him.
• 7:58
After three days Paul called together those who were the
• 8:01
leaders of the Jews. When they had come together, he
• 8:04
said to them, I Brothers, though I had done nothing against the
• 8:07
people or the customs of our fathers, still was delivered
• 8:11
prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans, who, when
• 8:14
they had examined me, desired to set me free, because there was
• 8:18
no cause of death in me. But when the Jews spoke against
• 8:21
it, I was constrained to appeal to Caesar, not that I had
• 8:24
anything about which to accuse my nation.
• 8:27
For this 'cause therefore I asked to see you and to speak
• 8:30
with you. For because of the hope of
• 8:31
Israel I am bound with this chain.
• 8:34
They said to him, We neither received letters from Judea
• 8:37
concerning you, nor did any of the brothers come here and
• 8:40
report or speak any evil of you. But we desire to hear from you
• 8:44
what you think. For as concerning this sect it
• 8:47
is known to us that everywhere it is spoken against.
• 8:50
When they had appointed him a day, many people came to him at
• 8:53
his lodging. He explained to them testifying
• 8:56
about God's Kingdom, and persuading them concerning
• 8:59
Jesus, both from the law of Moses and from the prophets.
• 9:02
From morning until evening some believed the things which were
• 9:05
spoken, and some disbelieved when they didn't agree among
• 9:09
themselves. They departed after Paul had
• 9:11
spoken one message. The Holy Spirit spoke rightly
• 9:14
through Isaiah the prophet to our fathers, saying, Go to this
• 9:18
people and say, In hearing you will hear, but will in no way
• 9:21
understand. In seeing you will see, but will
• 9:24
in no way perceive. For this people's heart has
• 9:26
grown callous. Their ears are dull of hearing
• 9:29
their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their
• 9:32
eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their heart, and
• 9:35
would turn again. Then I would heal them.
• 9:38
Be it known, therefore, to you that the salvation of God is
• 9:40
sent to the nations, and they will listen.
• 9:43
When he had said these words, the Jews departed, having a
• 9:46
great dispute among themselves. Paul stayed two whole years in
• 9:50
his own rented house and received all who were coming to
• 9:53
him, preaching God's Kingdom and teaching the things concerning
• 9:56
the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness, without hindrance.
