- 2:40Speaker 5: week's Adopt Me Please Pet.
- 2:41Speaker 3: Of the Week. Angie, good morning, welcome to the show.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Good morning, thank you for being here.
- 2:47Speaker 5: As always, our pets picture posted on my social media
- 2:50Speaker 5: Dave Island Radio and Facebook are at Dave seventy one X.
- 2:54Speaker 5: Tell us all about Norma.
- 2:57Speaker 6: H So, Norma has been with us for a couple months.
- 3:00Speaker 6: She originally came in as astray, but she's what I
- 3:04Speaker 6: call a golden ticket dog. She's young, she's good with kids,
- 3:08Speaker 6: she's good with other dogs, and she's good with cats.
- 3:10Speaker 6: So she's perfect for pretty much any home.
- 3:14Speaker 5: And when you sent me that text last night, you
- 3:16Speaker 5: referred to her as a golden ticket dog. I didn't
- 3:18Speaker 5: know exactly what that. So you just mean that she's
- 3:19Speaker 5: like the perfect. I mean no, no animal or no
- 3:21Speaker 5: human for that matter of perfect, but it's pretty close
- 3:24Speaker 5: to perfect as you can get, right, that's correct.
- 3:28Speaker 6: That means that pretty much anyone could come up there
- 3:30Speaker 6: and she's probably gonna work in your household.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Well, she's a beautiful dog.
- 3:34Speaker 5: And I was showing her picture to Kim and Sophia
- 3:37Speaker 5: Weigel that are my next guest. I was showing them
- 3:40Speaker 5: the picture in the green room this morning. And last
- 3:42Speaker 5: year we almost got to Sophia talked in to taking
- 3:47Speaker 5: home whatever pet that we had on last year at
- 3:49Speaker 5: this time. So maybe we'll try again this year with this.
- 3:51Speaker 5: And because she loved the picture when I showed her,
- 3:54Speaker 5: I hope.
- 3:54Speaker 6: So, I mean we're like car salesman at the shelter,
- 3:56Speaker 6: so we could probably talk her into it.
- 4:00Speaker 5: Let's talk about numbers, and your numbers I guess have
- 4:03Speaker 5: gone up because we keep and I noticed in your
- 4:05Speaker 5: social media you had another case of some small dogs
- 4:08Speaker 5: and puppies being abandoned. Looks like some people in the
- 4:11Speaker 5: community stepped up, But we need more people to step
- 4:13Speaker 5: up right, more.
- 4:15Speaker 6: And more and more. It seems like no matter how
- 4:19Speaker 6: many we get out of our building and create wig
- 4:21Speaker 6: or implore, there's double that that comes back in.
- 4:24Speaker 5: So it was a situation with these that were that
- 4:27Speaker 5: were just discovered. I mean this new batch, if you will.
- 4:31Speaker 6: So our friends yesterday came in because they were abandoned
- 4:34Speaker 6: in a home and they had been by themselves for
- 4:37Speaker 6: about a week. So our humane officer Laura that you
- 4:40Speaker 6: saw on Facebook, she went into the home, braved the
- 4:46Speaker 6: very disgusting conditions of that home and got them out
- 4:50Speaker 6: of there. So everybody is back with us. They're all
- 4:53Speaker 6: available for an option. They are the cutest little dogs
- 4:56Speaker 6: I have ever seen.
- 4:58Speaker 5: And she how did you find out about those dogs?
- 5:00Speaker 5: Did like a neighbor call? I mean, how did you
- 5:02Speaker 5: find out that they were there?
- 5:04Speaker 6: A landlord actually called on behalf of the dogs. She
- 5:07Speaker 6: actually owned the home, and she, you know, was willing
- 5:10Speaker 6: to cut her losses with the home, but she definitely
- 5:13Speaker 6: wanted to get the dog's help.
- 5:14Speaker 5: I mean, look, I know, and I'm not gonna play
- 5:17Speaker 5: philosopher or psychologists and try to get into people's minds.
- 5:20Speaker 3: But how do you do that?
- 5:23Speaker 5: I mean, how do and you know, if those people
- 5:25Speaker 5: are listening, sorry screw you. Uh well, I mean how
- 5:29Speaker 5: do you how do you just go off and leave
- 5:31Speaker 5: helpless animals like that?
- 5:33Speaker 6: That's that's the million dollar question, I guess because those
- 5:37Speaker 6: dogs are very sweet, they are very loving, and like
- 5:41Speaker 6: I said, they're all super tiny and cute. We even
- 5:43Speaker 6: got some puppies that are about two months old from
- 5:46Speaker 6: that situation. So I don't know how something so new
- 5:50Speaker 6: can be sailed so early in life. But that is
- 5:53Speaker 6: a million dollar questions.
- 5:55Speaker 5: But Dave Allan Chowing five Adyline brought to you a
- 5:57Speaker 5: part by snap Fitness, offering a wide array of professional
- 5:59Speaker 5: wellnes services, including customized personal training, licensed recovery experts, and
- 6:04Speaker 5: the staff of dietitians. Five convenient locations Charleston, Hurricane, Winfield, Barbersville,
- 6:08Speaker 5: and Milton visits snap Fitness dot Comference Tales have a
- 6:11Speaker 5: text here for you, Miss Angie, and it said, did
- 6:14Speaker 5: miss girl get adopted?
- 6:16Speaker 3: I'm not familiar with miss girl? Do you know who
- 6:17Speaker 3: miss Girl is.
- 6:19Speaker 6: Miss Girl we did on the radio a couple of
- 6:22Speaker 6: weeks ago. She was the tortoise shell cat and.
- 6:26Speaker 3: I didn't remember the name, so miss Girl got adopted.
- 6:29Speaker 6: She did indeed, cast usually fly out of our shelter,
- 6:33Speaker 6: and she was one of them. As soon as I
- 6:35Speaker 6: did her on the radio, she got adopted the very next.
- 6:38Speaker 5: Well that's good and we like that success. So what
- 6:40Speaker 5: about last week's animal?
- 6:41Speaker 3: Did did we have? Did we get last week's adopted?
- 6:43Speaker 3: We had a dog last week.
- 6:45Speaker 6: The dog last week was Barry and he is unfortunately
- 6:48Speaker 6: still there.
- 6:49Speaker 5: All right, So if you liked the description the picture
- 6:51Speaker 5: of Barry last week, Barry's still there.
- 6:53Speaker 7: Uh.
- 6:53Speaker 5: You got an event going on with the Clay Center,
- 6:56Speaker 5: Angie adopted dog, and you could be a winner of
- 6:59Speaker 5: some tickets to see the Psychology of Dogs at the
- 7:01Speaker 5: Clay Center.
- 7:02Speaker 3: Talk about that.
- 7:04Speaker 6: That is true, So please come in and adopt something.
- 7:07Speaker 6: Win quick. But if you adopt something, you can win
- 7:10Speaker 6: tickets to the show Psychology of the Dog. And it's
- 7:13Speaker 6: basically a show that just breaks down to what goes
- 7:16Speaker 6: on in front of our pets heads. But you could
- 7:20Speaker 6: win tickets to that if you adopt from us.
- 7:22Speaker 5: Yeah, and you got a lot of a lot of
- 7:24Speaker 5: animals up there. Give us an approximate number. I know,
- 7:27Speaker 5: we talked about it to begin so a bit approximately.
- 7:29Speaker 5: How many dogs do you have now?
- 7:31Speaker 6: Yesterday?
- 7:32Speaker 3: A lot of animals up there? Give us an approximate number.
- 7:35Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 7:35Speaker 5: We talked about it to begin so a bit approximately.
- 7:37Speaker 5: How many dogs do you have now?
- 7:39Speaker 6: Yesterday? When I left? This is dogs and cats combined.
- 7:43Speaker 6: But and this is also anything that's out in foster
- 7:46Speaker 6: right now or anything that's in the building. Yesterday, with
- 7:49Speaker 6: both combined, we had about three hundred and eighty some
- 7:54Speaker 6: so I'm sure those numbers are going to rise and
- 7:56Speaker 6: fall a little bit throughout the day as well.
- 7:58Speaker 5: Yeah, about three hundred, that's and that's about how many
- 8:01Speaker 5: too many?
- 8:02Speaker 6: Uh Yeah, that's a little that's probably close to about
- 8:05Speaker 6: one hundred over what we can actually pay.
- 8:07Speaker 5: All right, Well, we got another question here for you.
- 8:09Speaker 5: What about Dexter the cat? Do we still have Dexter
- 8:12Speaker 5: the cat?
- 8:13Speaker 6: Dexter also got adopted thankfully, all of my Cocit house
- 8:18Speaker 6: babies because I'm in charge of getting them to TechCo.
- 8:20Speaker 6: They have all been adopted recently, and I can not
- 8:23Speaker 6: be more happy for them.
- 8:24Speaker 5: Was that one of the ones that was residing in
- 8:26Speaker 5: what did you call it the pet pet coat condos or.
- 8:29Speaker 3: Whatever, the pet couse pet Co pen house.
- 8:32Speaker 5: I'm sorry, So how does that work? I mean, how
- 8:35Speaker 5: do you I'm just kind of curious and big shout
- 8:38Speaker 5: out to the folks of Petco for allowing that, But
- 8:40Speaker 5: how does that work? How do you decide what animals
- 8:42Speaker 5: that you that you can take out there? And I'm
- 8:44Speaker 5: presuming it's primarily cats, right, Yeah.
- 8:47Speaker 6: So we only have the housing for cats there, but
- 8:51Speaker 6: they just have to be nice, that's really it. I'm
- 8:54Speaker 6: not going to take a feral cat up there for
- 8:56Speaker 6: somebody to get scratched. But as long as the cats
- 8:59Speaker 6: are ice and then pretty good. Hell, they also have
- 9:02Speaker 6: to be stade and neutered already and you know, up
- 9:04Speaker 6: to date on all vaccines. But besides that, if they
- 9:07Speaker 6: meet all those bars, I can set up to four
- 9:10Speaker 6: cats there at a time, and it's usually my favorite.
- 9:12Speaker 6: One's not gonna lie that get to come up there.
- 9:15Speaker 3: It's your it's you, it's your pets, so to speak.
- 9:18Speaker 6: Yeah, my pets away from Holt.
- 9:20Speaker 5: I got you all right before we let you go.
- 9:22Speaker 5: Tuxes and Tails is coming up at the Roughner in May.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Talk about that.
- 9:27Speaker 6: Tuxes and Tails is coming up. It's our premiere fundraising event,
- 9:30Speaker 6: the biggest fundraising event uh this year. We're doing a
- 9:34Speaker 6: Kentucky Derby scene, so you know, come in your floral pastels,
- 9:38Speaker 6: big hats. We want to see it all. But you
- 9:41Speaker 6: get to drink, you get to watch the Kentucky Derby,
- 9:43Speaker 6: you get to partake in the silent auction. There's going
- 9:46Speaker 6: to be live music by d J e J. And
- 9:48Speaker 6: there will also be puppies there for you to love.
- 9:50Speaker 5: What and this is your annual this is your big
- 9:53Speaker 5: I mean, you do a lot of things throughout the year, Angie,
- 9:55Speaker 5: but this is the big one, right, this is.

- 10:31Speaker 5: yesterday and it's going to be a big old party
- 10:33Speaker 5: over there at the ballpark. I did think it, and
- 10:35Speaker 5: I heard Chris and Jeff talking about this this morning.
- 10:37Speaker 5: I did think it was interesting. When I asked Jill yesterday,
- 10:40Speaker 5: I said, are you going to allow the celebrity portion
- 10:43Speaker 5: like you did last year with members of the media,
- 10:46Speaker 5: And Jill's words, Well, that didn't work out too well.
- 10:49Speaker 5: Most of the real the folks in the media couldn't
- 10:52Speaker 5: get the ball out of the infield if they connected
- 10:54Speaker 5: at all.
- 10:55Speaker 2: So no media.

- 11:26Speaker 5: Absolutely beautiful, beautiful dog. And I mean zero red flags
- 11:31Speaker 5: with this dog whatsoever. She is ready to join your

- 14:57Speaker 5: I saw your eyes kind of going around there when
- 15:01Speaker 5: we were talking about Norma.
- 15:02Speaker 11: Uh huh oh yeah. Listen. If I could adopt it
- 15:05Speaker 11: all the animals in the world, I would.
- 15:06Speaker 5: I remember last year when you sat in this well
- 15:09Speaker 5: it was in the studio, but it didn't quite look

- 15:16Speaker 3: This is the year.
- 15:17Speaker 11: Listen. If I could, I would.
- 15:18Speaker 12: But I have three dogs in the cat and I

- 15:29Speaker 11: Listen, you don't have to convince me. I take her
- 15:31Speaker 11: at a heartbeat. You gotta talk to her.
- 15:33Speaker 5: Mama, who said it beside you. I felt like an
- 15:35Speaker 5: old time preacher in the churches. I grew up with,
- 15:37Speaker 5: you know, going as the crowd, as as the choir sings,
- 15:40Speaker 5: just as I am. Nobody looking make that step, Oh
- 15:42Speaker 5: wait that step?

- 15:47Speaker 3: Mom says it's not How are you, Mom?
- 15:49Speaker 7: I'm wonderful? Thank you?
- 15:50Speaker 6: All right?
- 15:50Speaker 5: For those that don't know, explain what this event is.
- 15:53Speaker 5: Either one of you, both mics are hot, so you
- 15:55Speaker 5: do you tell me what this event is, Sophia, go ahead,
- 15:57Speaker 5: and you've been you've been involved with this for.
- 15:59Speaker 11: A while, right, Yes, this is our fourth year that
- 16:01Speaker 11: we've been doing this.
- 16:02Speaker 3: You've been on the show every year talking about it.
- 16:04Speaker 11: Yeah, oh yeah, four years going so talk about okay, awesome.
- 16:07Speaker 12: So the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, for those of you
- 16:09Speaker 12: who don't know, it, is to honor first responders and
- 16:12Speaker 12: military members and then to also remember nine to eleven.
- 16:15Speaker 12: So it was started after nine to eleven had happened
- 16:18Speaker 12: that a firefighter named Steven Siller got off of his
- 16:21Speaker 12: shift and he heard what was happening. So he ran
- 16:23Speaker 12: through the Brooklyn Battery tunnel and he ultimately died at
- 16:26Speaker 12: the Towers, and so he left behind his wife and
- 16:28Speaker 12: five young children, which is a very big heavy burden.
- 16:32Speaker 12: Not only are you grieving, but you're also trying to
- 16:34Speaker 12: figure out how you're going to take care of five kids,
- 16:36Speaker 12: you know, so that's a lot to process. And so
- 16:38Speaker 12: their family started this help first responders and military members
- 16:41Speaker 12: who are going through the same thing that if they
- 16:43Speaker 12: would pass away and leave behind a spouse and young children,
- 16:46Speaker 12: they will pay off their mortgage, and if they're catastrophically injured,
- 16:49Speaker 12: they will build them a smart home adapted to their needs,
- 16:51Speaker 12: which is, you know, truly amazing because they do so
- 16:53Speaker 12: much for us that, you know, we should be able
- 16:55Speaker 12: to help them at least live independently and give them,
- 16:57Speaker 12: you know, a little bit of their pride back with that.
- 17:00Speaker 12: But our run actually raises money for that. We are that,
- 17:03Speaker 12: Like we said, this is our fourth year. It's going
- 17:05Speaker 12: to be May tenth at ten am. And then something
- 17:08Speaker 12: new that the foundation is doing is they're trying to
- 17:11Speaker 12: eradicate better and homelessness. So they're building centers all across
- 17:14Speaker 12: the country and also working in our communities to give
- 17:17Speaker 12: them either small homes or even centers that will help
- 17:21Speaker 12: them with PTSD support and also give them trade skills
- 17:24Speaker 12: so that if they would not only just have to
- 17:26Speaker 12: be dependent upon the foundation, but we want them to
- 17:28Speaker 12: be able to come here, maybe learn how to a
- 17:31Speaker 12: trade skill or something, and then go back out into
- 17:32Speaker 12: our communities and be able to take care of theirselves.
- 17:35Speaker 11: So you know, it's a truly it's an amazing foundation
- 17:37Speaker 11: all that they do.
- 17:38Speaker 5: So what was it about this? And you said, you
- 17:41Speaker 5: guys have been doing this for four years? What was
- 17:43Speaker 5: it about this that interested you to begin with? And Kim,
- 17:46Speaker 5: you can jump in here if you want as well?
- 17:48Speaker 5: Is there I mean? And so she's perfectly happy to
- 17:51Speaker 5: let you.
- 17:52Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yes, she's perfectly happy like you.
- 17:54Speaker 5: Talk, because she's planning how you're going to make room
- 17:56Speaker 5: in your home for Norma. There you go, that's what
- 17:58Speaker 5: that's what she's doing time.
- 18:00Speaker 7: In here, if I think, is thatthing you're doing it?
- 18:02Speaker 3: Yeah, she's got paper, she's.
- 18:03Speaker 5: Got paper and pencil over here, like riding out how
- 18:05Speaker 5: I do all this one? When you adopt the dog?
- 18:08Speaker 5: So why was this so important? Because you're obviously you know,
- 18:12Speaker 5: you were a kid practically when you came in here,
- 18:14Speaker 5: you're you're an adult and how old are you now?
- 18:16Speaker 11: I'm eighteen, you're eighteen years old.
- 18:17Speaker 5: Okay, what was it a few years ago that made
- 18:20Speaker 5: that kid say this is something I want to do.
- 18:24Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 18:24Speaker 12: So I was actually thirteen at the time, and my
- 18:27Speaker 12: brother was going to Basic training, so he was going
- 18:29Speaker 12: into the military, and you know, you think about a
- 18:32Speaker 12: thirteen year old, I was thinking of all the worst
- 18:34Speaker 12: things that could happen, and you know, it made me anxious.
- 18:36Speaker 12: I love my brothers, you know, we all love our
- 18:38Speaker 12: family members, and I wanted him to be safe and
- 18:40Speaker 12: I wanted him to be taken care of, and so
- 18:43Speaker 12: I actually, while he was at Basic training, that's when
- 18:45Speaker 12: I started to notice the commercials for the foundation, and
- 18:48Speaker 12: it was for their catastrophically Injured programs and to see
- 18:52Speaker 12: those it was mainly military members that were had maybe
- 18:56Speaker 12: lost limbs or something, and they were telling their stories
- 18:59Speaker 12: and just see that I could see, you know, I
- 19:01Speaker 12: love my brother so much, but these are people's fathers
- 19:04Speaker 12: and you know, sons, brothers that could easily be my
- 19:06Speaker 12: brother if he were deployed.
- 19:08Speaker 11: And you know, they had this wait list. It was
- 19:10Speaker 11: a couple of pages.
- 19:11Speaker 12: And I saw that, and you know it really touched
- 19:14Speaker 12: my heart that I wanted to be able to help
- 19:16Speaker 12: them because they were willing to do so much for
- 19:18Speaker 12: us that so I looked at my mom and I
- 19:20Speaker 12: was like, well, you know, we can we do something
- 19:22Speaker 12: to help and get involved.
- 19:24Speaker 11: And she said.
- 19:25Speaker 12: That she wanted, you know, we could do eleven dollars
- 19:27Speaker 12: a month, and I told her that I wanted to
- 19:29Speaker 12: be able to do more than just eleven dollars a month,
- 19:31Speaker 12: because obviously those smart homes are a whole lot of
- 19:35Speaker 12: money to make.
- 19:35Speaker 11: They're very expensive.
- 19:37Speaker 12: Yeah, and so you know, I was eleven dollars a
- 19:40Speaker 12: month is very helpful to the foundation, but I just
- 19:42Speaker 12: I wanted to do something to be able to raise
- 19:43Speaker 12: more money than that. And so we got in contact
- 19:46Speaker 12: with the foundation and started the first five K here
- 19:49Speaker 12: in Ripley and this is our fourth year.
- 19:50Speaker 5: So and talk about how the community of Ripley, not
- 19:54Speaker 5: just Ripley, but all the surrounding areas have really latched
- 19:58Speaker 5: onto this thing.
- 19:58Speaker 12: Oh yeah, really, it's amaz how much support we have
- 20:01Speaker 12: had in our communities. I will say, if you look
- 20:04Speaker 12: at it, we've had I think about four different cities
- 20:07Speaker 12: right for roundabout.
- 20:09Speaker 7: I'm not surrounding New Jersey.
- 20:11Speaker 12: No, no, oh, you mean sponsorship. So we've had the city
- 20:17Speaker 12: of Charleston sponsored last year.
- 20:21Speaker 3: That's why she doesn't like to talk.
- 20:24Speaker 11: But we've had the City of Charleston has sponsored, the
- 20:26Speaker 11: city of.
- 20:27Speaker 13: Spencer, cities have sponsored. What does that, they've given money.
- 20:30Speaker 13: So the cities have given money, They've given Charleston, Spencer, Ravenswood. Yeah,
- 20:36Speaker 13: so we've had and truly, if you look at.
- 20:38Speaker 12: Because this is a national run as well, so there
- 20:40Speaker 12: are many across the state, we are one of the
- 20:43Speaker 12: only ones that are able to get even you know,
- 20:45Speaker 12: maybe the host city to sponsor, and for us to
- 20:47Speaker 12: have four different cities that are willing to sponsor, it
- 20:50Speaker 12: shows how much support we have in West Virginia.
- 20:53Speaker 11: Truly is a state and that's the.
- 20:54Speaker 12: Whole goal, because this is to help all of our
- 20:56Speaker 12: first responders and military members. It's not just about Ripley,
- 20:59Speaker 12: you know, it's for the entire state, in the entire country.
- 21:01Speaker 12: So that's something that we'd love to see everyone get behind.
- 21:04Speaker 12: But truly, the support and within our communities, our first responders,
- 21:07Speaker 12: they have just jumped right in and helped. And I
- 21:09Speaker 12: will shout out our squad that you know, it's not
- 21:12Speaker 12: just me or my mom that we're doing this. It's
- 21:15Speaker 12: a group effort and a team effort that you know,
- 21:18Speaker 12: we wouldn't be able to do it without them. And
- 21:19Speaker 12: also the Foundation is very helpful as well with all
- 21:21Speaker 12: that they do. So I'm very grateful for the support
- 21:24Speaker 12: of our communities and also the surrounding communities our state.
- 21:27Speaker 5: So yeah, I mean, everybody kind of comes out for
- 21:29Speaker 5: this thing in our stations are usually up there taking
- 21:31Speaker 5: part in it one way or the other.
- 21:32Speaker 14: End.
- 21:32Speaker 5: Yes, and again when you reached when you folks reached
- 21:36Speaker 5: out to our folks about doing this. I love Ripley.
- 21:40Speaker 5: I mean I really really do. I mean, on the
- 21:42Speaker 5: Metro News midday show, we have a segment we call
- 21:44Speaker 5: Mayor Monday, and every Monday I go around the state
- 21:47Speaker 5: and I interview a different mayor. This past Monday, I
- 21:49Speaker 5: had your mayor Carolyn Ray Okay there on the show
- 21:52Speaker 5: with who I've known.
- 21:52Speaker 3: For a number of years.
- 21:54Speaker 5: And she's a she's a firecrackers saving Oh yeah, we
- 21:57Speaker 5: love her, we love her.
- 21:58Speaker 11: She's actually she's on our squad as well.
- 22:00Speaker 3: I have no doubt.
- 22:01Speaker 11: Oh yeah no. But you know, just also something too,
- 22:04Speaker 11: is that this is a.
- 22:05Speaker 12: Family event, So we don't want people to see the
- 22:07Speaker 12: five k and think that you have to be some
- 22:10Speaker 12: seasoned runner.
- 22:11Speaker 11: You know, I'm not a runner.
- 22:12Speaker 12: I would have never thought that i'd be a voluntary
- 22:14Speaker 12: structor in my life. But it's truly it's about the
- 22:17Speaker 12: cause and what we're raising money for. So even if
- 22:20Speaker 12: you don't want to come out and run, you can
- 22:21Speaker 12: come walk or even just come and enjoy the event
- 22:24Speaker 12: we have. We start at ten am with an opening
- 22:26Speaker 12: ceremony that honors nine to eleven in our first responders.
- 22:29Speaker 12: So bring your kids out and help them to remember
- 22:32Speaker 12: nine to eleven. We want to make sure that they
- 22:33Speaker 12: don't want their animals out. You can bring them out.
- 22:35Speaker 3: Norma is gonna love it, k she comes out with
- 22:38Speaker 3: you guys.
- 22:39Speaker 12: Right, you will, but you know, bring your animals out,
- 22:42Speaker 12: bring your kids. Make it a family event that you
- 22:44Speaker 12: know you can get a little bit of exercise in
- 22:46Speaker 12: while you're also teaching them to Number one, think our
- 22:49Speaker 12: first responders and military members that you know you're passing
- 22:52Speaker 12: that down to the younger generations, but also that they
- 22:54Speaker 12: don't forget nine to eleven and what happened on that day.
- 22:57Speaker 5: It's hard to believe it's been that long ago. I
- 22:59Speaker 5: mean uh uh and and it's you know, and everybody
- 23:04Speaker 5: and everybody that's got a little bit of age on
- 23:06Speaker 5: them remembers where they were, you know, when nine to
- 23:08Speaker 5: eleven happened. It's one of those Pearl Harbor Kennedy assassination
- 23:12Speaker 5: kind of moments in our in our history unfortunately, where
- 23:15Speaker 5: people always remember, you know, where they were. But now
- 23:18Speaker 5: we're getting into a generation people you know, of your
- 23:21Speaker 5: age obviously as well that that they don't remember a
- 23:25Speaker 5: time before nine to eleven. And uh and and you've
- 23:28Speaker 5: got to I think educate uh the younger people and
- 23:31Speaker 5: sometimes you got to educate some older people too. You
- 23:33Speaker 5: do about about the sacrifices that were giving up on
- 23:36Speaker 5: nine to eleven with our first responders and.
- 23:38Speaker 3: What they do on a daily basis that's not a
- 23:41Speaker 3: nine to eleven event.
- 23:43Speaker 5: I mean just the there's just just the sacrifice and
- 23:45Speaker 5: and not only the sacrifice that those men and women give,
- 23:49Speaker 5: but their families give as well. Because uh no, I've
- 23:52Speaker 5: said this about our military officers and people like that.
- 23:55Speaker 5: One person doesn't join the military when one person when
- 23:59Speaker 5: when you when you join the police force, you become
- 24:02Speaker 5: an EMT whatever whatever first responder, the whole family does.
- 24:05Speaker 5: Oh yeah, and uh and they're a big part.
- 24:07Speaker 3: Of it as well.
- 24:08Speaker 11: Yeah, and that's why the foundation is.
- 24:09Speaker 12: So you know, it's not just about the first responder,
- 24:12Speaker 12: it's about the family that you know makes the sacrifice
- 24:15Speaker 12: as well. Because you know, if you, like I said,
- 24:18Speaker 12: with Steven Siller's wife, I mean that was not only
- 24:21Speaker 12: did he make a sacrifice for his life, but that
- 24:23Speaker 12: also you know she lost her husband and you know
- 24:26Speaker 12: a support system for her children.
- 24:28Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 24:28Speaker 12: Father, So they really that's why they really want to
- 24:31Speaker 12: make it a family affair and you know, making it
- 24:34Speaker 12: a family thing with the run, bring your families out.
- 24:36Speaker 12: But it truly is there's so much to be thankful
- 24:38Speaker 12: for that they do. They're willing to risk their life
- 24:40Speaker 12: and they give up time, they miss holidays, they miss
- 24:43Speaker 12: special events just to be there for us that if
- 24:45Speaker 12: anything were to ever happen, they'd be there. So the
- 24:47Speaker 12: least we could do is come out and you know,
- 24:50Speaker 12: walk a little bit of a five k and thank
- 24:52Speaker 12: them for it.
- 24:53Speaker 16: So and also I'll just add you to that comes
- 24:55Speaker 16: to my heart and mine is the things that our
- 24:58Speaker 16: first responders in military see things that we would never
- 25:02Speaker 16: want to see. It would give us nightmares at night.
- 25:04Speaker 16: I mean, I'm sure that they take this stuff.
- 25:05Speaker 7: Home with them.
- 25:06Speaker 16: It's hard on them all that they do, and whether
- 25:11Speaker 16: we would have somebody in our family that is involved
- 25:14Speaker 16: in the military, but my dad was a Charleston firefighter. Regardless,
- 25:20Speaker 16: they are there for all of us. They come to
- 25:22Speaker 16: help us no matter who we are, and it's for
- 25:24Speaker 16: everybody to come out and to be supportive of them.
- 25:26Speaker 16: And also the foundation, the thing I love about it
- 25:28Speaker 16: as well as ninety five cents on the dollar goes
- 25:31Speaker 16: to the programs people asked, as the money come here,
- 25:34Speaker 16: if it's needed, it will, But honestly, we hope that
- 25:37Speaker 16: we never needed that would mean something horrible would happen,
- 25:40Speaker 16: death or tragedy. But Corey Maynard, the state trooper that
- 25:45Speaker 16: lost his life, the foundation did give them a mortgage
- 25:48Speaker 16: free home.
- 25:48Speaker 7: They were at our event.
- 25:50Speaker 5: Last year, especially the state from Mingo County that was
- 25:55Speaker 5: killed in the line of duty, and so your group
- 25:59Speaker 5: was able to help him.
- 26:00Speaker 11: Yep, they paid off their sandwich.
- 26:01Speaker 12: Yeah, they paid off their mortgage and his wife and
- 26:04Speaker 12: children were able to be at our event last year,
- 26:06Speaker 12: So you know, it has a community impact as well.
- 26:08Speaker 12: But like mom said, we we never want the money
- 26:10Speaker 12: here because that means somebody would have been injured or killed.
- 26:13Speaker 11: But it's there if it's needed.
- 26:15Speaker 5: So but Dave Valence showing five Vidieline brought to you
- 26:17Speaker 5: part by Morgan to Morgan, America's largest injury law firm.
- 26:20Speaker 3: Okay, give us the details.
- 26:22Speaker 5: The times, and again, even if you're not you know
- 26:25Speaker 5: one of these people that these maniacs that run things
- 26:29Speaker 5: of that nature. A shout out to my man Steve
- 26:32Speaker 5: Bishop from V one hundred. He usually runs in events
- 26:35Speaker 5: like this. But even if you're not one of those people,
- 26:36Speaker 5: if you can walk it, if you can just show up.
- 26:39Speaker 12: Yeah. So it'll be May tenth at ten am. Our
- 26:42Speaker 12: registration will start at eight thirty. So if you want
- 26:45Speaker 12: to register a day of, you can. But we also
- 26:47Speaker 12: have our website. It is run walk Ripley at T
- 26:52Speaker 12: two t dot org and that is where you can register.
- 26:55Speaker 12: We do prefer people register before the day of, but
- 26:58Speaker 12: if you want to, hey, you can be spontaneous, come down.
- 27:00Speaker 11: We'd be happy to have you.
- 27:01Speaker 12: But also I will say, this is the last little
- 27:03Speaker 12: thing we are raising money obviously, and we have raised
- 27:06Speaker 12: twenty three thousand dollars already in this year. This year along, Yeah,
- 27:10Speaker 12: this year we've raised twenty three thousand, and our goal
- 27:12Speaker 12: this year is over twenty five thousand, because if we
- 27:15Speaker 12: do that, we'll we will have reached over one hundred
- 27:17Speaker 12: thousand dollars in the past four years. So if you
- 27:20Speaker 12: want to even if you can't come out, if you're working,
- 27:22Speaker 12: you can't be there, you just go to the website
- 27:25Speaker 12: run walk Ripley at Tea two tea dot org and
- 27:28Speaker 12: then you can just prestonate even just a couple of dollars.
- 27:30Speaker 12: We'd appreciate any support we could get.
- 27:32Speaker 5: It's not bad to raise over one hundred thousand dollars
- 27:34Speaker 5: from a thirteen year old kid, which is where this started,
- 27:37Speaker 5: and the support staff around.
- 27:38Speaker 11: Yes, yeah, no, it's truly.
- 27:40Speaker 12: I mean, like I said, to be able to look
- 27:42Speaker 12: back and you know that I wanted to be able
- 27:43Speaker 12: to raise money and with the support of everyone in
- 27:46Speaker 12: the businesses in our communities, it's wonderful.
- 27:48Speaker 7: Yeah, thank everyone so much.
- 27:50Speaker 3: We're grateful, Kim, you must be proud of the kids.
- 27:53Speaker 7: Very much, very thankful. Yes, lover bunches.
- 27:56Speaker 5: All right, so what's what's a future look like for you.
- 27:59Speaker 5: I know that you eighteen, so you're going to be
- 28:01Speaker 5: heading off into the end of the world. I think
- 28:02Speaker 5: you're already there, but yeah, what about you person, what
- 28:07Speaker 5: are you gonna be doing?
- 28:08Speaker 11: Well?
- 28:08Speaker 12: I opened up a dance studio, so I'm busy with that.
- 28:11Speaker 12: I you know, I've always loved dancing and I was
- 28:13Speaker 12: able to make a career for me. So I've opened
- 28:15Speaker 12: up a masterpiece ballet. It's in Kenna where this is
- 28:19Speaker 12: our first year. We opened in September, and you know,
- 28:22Speaker 12: it's it's rewarding to be able to work with young
- 28:25Speaker 12: girls and give them the passion that I have for
- 28:27Speaker 12: dance and to be able to train them that. And
- 28:29Speaker 12: I'm the West Virginia Association Affairs and Festivals Queens, so
- 28:32Speaker 12: for the year I'll be traveling and I get to
- 28:33Speaker 12: Regin over the state fairs. So that's going to be
- 28:35Speaker 12: August seventh through the sixteenth, if anybody would want to
- 28:37Speaker 12: come out to that. But very busy this next year,
- 28:40Speaker 12: but I'm excited.
- 28:41Speaker 7: For the future.
- 28:42Speaker 3: College.
- 28:44Speaker 11: Yeah, so I don't know.
- 28:45Speaker 12: Right now, I'm focusing on my business and then maybe
- 28:47Speaker 12: some business classes after that.
- 28:49Speaker 11: But I'm trying to stay out of as much debt
- 28:50Speaker 11: as I can. So good.
- 28:52Speaker 5: Idea, yeah, idea, all right. I appreciate you folks for

- 32:27Speaker 5: big stuff happening West Virginia International Yeager Airport as always,
- 32:30Speaker 5: and actually they have some news about real id to
- 32:33Speaker 5: share with you. Dominic Grenari is executive director of the airport.
- 32:36Speaker 5: She joins us in Jerre Construction Studios this morning, Dominie,
- 32:39Speaker 5: good morning, welcome to the show.
- 32:40Speaker 15: Good morning, Thank you. I'm so excited to be in

- 32:44Speaker 3: The Wygles like incredible people are what amazing?
- 32:48Speaker 15: It was so nice to chat with them before they
- 32:49Speaker 15: got on air. How inspiring.
- 32:51Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean really, that's why we were joking during
- 32:53Speaker 5: the break. I said, you know, Sophia started this when
- 32:56Speaker 5: she was thirteen thirteen, that this something that this big
- 33:00Speaker 5: would probably not have been on my mind, and at
- 33:02Speaker 5: eighteen it certainly wasn't on my mind.
- 33:04Speaker 15: Now and to be a business owner already amazing, Yeah, amazing, indeed.
- 33:08Speaker 5: All right, So we hear a lot in the news
- 33:11Speaker 5: about real ID, So what is it?
- 33:15Speaker 3: Who needs it? Give us all the details.
- 33:17Speaker 15: Thank you. I appreciate the opportunity to talk about it
- 33:20Speaker 15: because it is approaching very quickly. May seventh, so just
- 33:24Speaker 15: next month, real ID goes into effect. And what it
- 33:27Speaker 15: is is that enhanced ID that the state DMV has
- 33:31Speaker 15: started offering. If you look at your ID right now
- 33:33Speaker 15: and you pull it out of your wallet and you
- 33:35Speaker 15: don't see that little star in the right hand corner,
- 33:38Speaker 15: that means that you don't yet have a real ID,
- 33:41Speaker 15: and that real ID is supported by additional identification documentation
- 33:46Speaker 15: that you brought to the DMV with you the last
- 33:47Speaker 15: time you went for your renewal. Now it is going
- 33:51Speaker 15: to be required at the TSA checkpoint when you go
- 33:54Speaker 15: to get on your commercial flight. So starting May seventh,
- 33:57Speaker 15: if you don't have that real ID or your passport
- 34:00Speaker 15: with you, you will first be subjected to additional screening or
- 34:05Speaker 15: not be able to get onto your flight.
- 34:07Speaker 5: I mean it's a serious stuff here. I mean for
- 34:09Speaker 5: people that have not taken it seriously, now is the
- 34:11Speaker 5: time to do it. In May seventh is the deadline.
- 34:13Speaker 5: So okay, I'm sitting here right now, And I don't
- 34:15Speaker 5: have a real idea if I don't, so what do
- 34:18Speaker 5: I need to do?
- 34:19Speaker 15: Like right now, go to the DMV.
- 34:22Speaker 3: You need to make an appointment. I mean, is that
- 34:23Speaker 3: still you can?
- 34:24Speaker 15: You can make the appointment. Our DMVs here in the
- 34:27Speaker 15: state of West Virginia are so wonderful, as.
- 34:29Speaker 3: Shout out Everett Frasier.
- 34:31Speaker 15: Yes, we are so lucky to have such a well
- 34:33Speaker 15: oiled machine at the DMV. You don't hear the nightmare
- 34:36Speaker 15: stories about going to the DMV that you hear from
- 34:39Speaker 15: other states. So go ahead and go into the DMV,
- 34:41Speaker 15: or contact your local DMV about getting in under an appointment,
- 34:45Speaker 15: or if you have a passport, just make sure that
- 34:48Speaker 15: you're bringing your passport with you to the airport, even
- 34:50Speaker 15: if you're just flying domestically.
- 34:52Speaker 3: And this has to be done at the DMV.
- 34:54Speaker 5: This is not something because I know with a lot
- 34:56Speaker 5: of DMV things or license renewal things, they've got kiosks
- 35:00Speaker 5: and you can do things online.
- 35:01Speaker 3: This has to be done in person.
- 35:02Speaker 15: For the first time, yes, because they are verifying those
- 35:05Speaker 15: those additional documents.
- 35:06Speaker 5: So what you probably need and you can go to
- 35:08Speaker 5: any DMV right So, like if you live in Charleston,
- 35:11Speaker 5: but they're you know you're going to be you want
- 35:13Speaker 5: to go to Parkersburg. I'm just making things up. Now
- 35:16Speaker 5: you can go to another DM. It doesn't have to
- 35:18Speaker 5: be the one closest to you.
- 35:19Speaker 3: Exactly exactly what's the whole idea behind this, So it is.
- 35:22Speaker 15: Something that actually came out of nine to eleven. So
- 35:26Speaker 15: this was an initiative to make sure that there's no
- 35:29Speaker 15: chance that someone can show up with a document that
- 35:32Speaker 15: isn't accurately reflecting who they are. This is enhanced security
- 35:37Speaker 15: for our whole national airspace system to keep everyone safe.
- 35:41Speaker 5: Talk with Dominic Grenara again from West Virginia International Yeager
- 35:44Speaker 5: Airport for a Dave Island show in five any Live
- 35:45Speaker 5: brought to you in part by Huston's Pizza. Get a
- 35:47Speaker 5: large eighten inch Pepperoni pizza and a large Toss Salid
- 35:50Speaker 5: twenty one ninety nine eat in pickup or get delivery
- 35:52Speaker 5: by going to Huston's Pizza dot com. And there's been
- 35:56Speaker 5: I've read some online chatter. Imagine this if you will,
- 36:00Speaker 5: interesting people not happy online. Imagine that that that this
- 36:04Speaker 5: is going too far, that this is a money grab
- 36:07Speaker 5: or whatever. Your response would be.
- 36:10Speaker 15: It's to keep everyone safe. So we are always looking
- 36:15Speaker 15: at ways to improve safety, especially in aviation. This is
- 36:19Speaker 15: just one more step, and it has been something that
- 36:22Speaker 15: has been delayed because they are very worried about what
- 36:25Speaker 15: the effect will be on the traveling public if they're
- 36:28Speaker 15: not prepared. But I will say here, I.
- 36:30Speaker 5: Can just see you know, nightmares and just like long.
- 36:33Speaker 5: I mean lines can already be long in some of
- 36:35Speaker 5: the major airports anyway, and now you're going to add
- 36:37Speaker 5: not you personally, but you're going to add this to that.
- 36:40Speaker 5: I could just see where if people don't if people
- 36:43Speaker 5: don't get this done, it could create a lot of headaches.
- 36:45Speaker 15: Absolutely, we are preparing for some longer lines even at CRW,
- 36:49Speaker 15: so we are working with our TSA officers to make
- 36:52Speaker 15: sure that both lines are open so that if someone
- 36:56Speaker 15: is dealing with not having the correct identification, those people
- 37:00Speaker 15: aren't holding up the line for the TSA checkpoint for
- 37:04Speaker 15: passengers who are ready to go. So we are already
- 37:06Speaker 15: starting to make those plans to make things as smooth
- 37:09Speaker 15: as possible, and the TSA agents are going to try
- 37:12Speaker 15: to help you, especially with initial rollout. If you don't
- 37:16Speaker 15: have that and you didn't realize you don't have the
- 37:18Speaker 15: right ID to get on your flight. They have some
- 37:21Speaker 15: options for some additional screening at first, but eventually that
- 37:25Speaker 15: will be phased out as well.
- 37:26Speaker 5: We had a text question here about the real ID,
- 37:30Speaker 5: and I appreciate you coming into talking about this, and
- 37:32Speaker 5: it has to do with the cost courts. But this
- 37:35Speaker 5: person is texting in saying it violates the Tenth Amendment.
- 37:38Speaker 3: I know you're not. Maybe you're an attorney.
- 37:40Speaker 5: I don't know, but this has gone through the courts, right,
- 37:44Speaker 5: I mean, this is this is this is this is
- 37:46Speaker 5: constitutional in it has.
- 37:47Speaker 15: And it came out of a lot of the acts
- 37:50Speaker 15: and legislation after nine to eleven through the Department of
- 37:53Speaker 15: Homeland Security. And if you are looking for additional information
- 37:57Speaker 15: on real ID, you can go to DHS dot gov
- 38:01Speaker 15: and look at all of the history and analysis of
- 38:04Speaker 15: this program. I am a lawyer, but I do have
- 38:08Speaker 15: aut law anymore.
- 38:09Speaker 3: I didn't know you were an attorney. I just didn't.
- 38:13Speaker 3: I didn't know that. But TEX says, if you have
- 38:15Speaker 3: a passport, do you need a real ID?
- 38:17Speaker 15: So you can use your passport in lieu of a
- 38:20Speaker 15: state issued real ID.
- 38:22Speaker 5: Okay, So it's either or kind of thing. But a
- 38:24Speaker 5: lot of people may not have a passport. If they
- 38:26Speaker 5: don't do a lot, if they don't do international travel,
- 38:27Speaker 5: they may not have one.
- 38:28Speaker 15: And you just can't forget. Like you're packing for your trip.
- 38:31Speaker 15: It's a domestic trip, you might not think, oh, grab
- 38:34Speaker 15: the passport. But even to fly domestically.
- 38:37Speaker 5: If I'm getting on a flight from here to Atlanta,
- 38:40Speaker 5: I need to have the real idy or a passport
- 38:43Speaker 5: if I have one, either one. So you don't necessarily
- 38:45Speaker 5: have to have a reality. You got to have one
- 38:46Speaker 5: or the other. I'm hearing this correctly, all right? What
- 38:49Speaker 5: else is going on up at the Jaeger? I mean,
- 38:51Speaker 5: and by the way, it's I'm sure it's been a
- 38:54Speaker 5: lot for people to try because everybody's used to calling
- 38:56Speaker 5: it the airport Yaeger, you know whatever. I'm really trying
- 39:00Speaker 5: to work. I'm hoping doing Okay. Well, what's going on
- 39:02Speaker 5: up at West Virginia International Yeager Airport?
- 39:04Speaker 15: You're great, No, don't worry. There are many names for
- 39:07Speaker 15: the airport. We answer to all of them. Some people
- 39:10Speaker 15: still call it Kanal Airport, and I'm like, yes, that's
- 39:12Speaker 15: us too, that's where we started. All you have to
- 39:15Speaker 15: remember is CRW to book your ticket, so that's the
- 39:18Speaker 15: important thing. We have a lot going on. So this
- 39:20Speaker 15: week we held a TSA pre check pop up event,
- 39:23Speaker 15: so if you haven't gotten TSA pre check yet, we
- 39:26Speaker 15: made that available at the airport. It actually ends today,
- 39:29Speaker 15: but we're accepting walkins until five pm. So if that's
- 39:33Speaker 15: something you're interested in getting, you can come up to
- 39:35Speaker 15: the airport in the baggage claim area and then we're
- 39:38Speaker 15: very excited we're going to be hosting another Global Entry
- 39:42Speaker 15: enrollment event that's May fifth through the eighth at the airport.
- 39:45Speaker 15: It's hosted by the US Customs and Border Protection facility
- 39:49Speaker 15: that we have at the airport. So enrollment actually begins
- 39:53Speaker 15: on Saturday, April twentieth, but you can go to CPB
- 39:57Speaker 15: dot gov right now and fill out the application and
- 40:00Speaker 15: get conditionally approved, and then when our pop up event
- 40:03Speaker 15: starts you can make your appointments. They're going to fill
- 40:06Speaker 15: up really fast. We have people drive in from the
- 40:08Speaker 15: surrounding states to do this final step, which is the interview.
- 40:12Speaker 15: It's quick, it's easy once you've filled out everything online.
- 40:15Speaker 15: And this is for our travelers that fly internationally a lot.
- 40:18Speaker 15: It makes it much easier to come in and out
- 40:20Speaker 15: of the country.
- 40:21Speaker 5: Let's talk about flights to various cities, because everybody wants
- 40:26Speaker 5: to know what do you offer a flight here?
- 40:27Speaker 3: Do you offer a flight?
- 40:28Speaker 5: There's some goal away, some are added, What are you
- 40:32Speaker 5: excited about as far as flights go these days?
- 40:34Speaker 15: So we are very excited with what we have now
- 40:37Speaker 15: and things that we're discussing for the future. So right
- 40:40Speaker 15: now we have eight NonStop routes and growing, and that's
- 40:43Speaker 15: because our traveling public is utilizing what we have. I
- 40:47Speaker 15: go to conferences and I talk to other regional airport
- 40:50Speaker 15: directors and they're like, oh my gosh, you guys have
- 40:53Speaker 15: so much more air service than we do. And we're
- 40:55Speaker 15: so thankful that our passengers are utilizing what we have
- 40:59Speaker 15: so that we can get more. Just a couple of
- 41:01Speaker 15: highlights for you. Myrtle Beach and Tampa flights with Breeze
- 41:04Speaker 15: Airways return May first. Those are seasonal destinations on Breeze.
- 41:09Speaker 15: Breeze is also flying to Newark, New Jersey right now
- 41:12Speaker 15: on Sunday, Tuesdays and Thursdays, so that flight is going
- 41:16Speaker 15: really well. Passengers are really liking it. We also have
- 41:20Speaker 15: the Orlando flights Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and then of
- 41:24Speaker 15: course we have our hub flights as well to Chicago, Atlanta, Charlotte,
- 41:28Speaker 15: and DCA.
- 41:29Speaker 3: And those are very popular. I mean, that's what you.
- 41:31Speaker 3: People love those. Tex says.
- 41:33Speaker 5: Does the use of a passport ever phase out and
- 41:36Speaker 5: it will only be realizing?
- 41:37Speaker 3: Do you see that at some point?
- 41:38Speaker 15: No, I think your passport is always going to be
- 41:41Speaker 15: a perfect document to bring that proves who you are.
- 41:45Speaker 3: It's it's been a long been around a long time.
- 41:47Speaker 15: It has been around a very long time. Yeah, So Nope,
- 41:49Speaker 15: that'll never phase out.
- 41:51Speaker 3: What's what I mean? Can you tell us something?
- 41:53Speaker 5: I mean, you told us a few that are in
- 41:55Speaker 5: the future, but maybe on your wish list of where
- 41:58Speaker 5: you'd like to go or do you want to go
- 41:59Speaker 5: into that.
- 41:59Speaker 15: We have lots of wishless flights. We're constantly talking to
- 42:03Speaker 15: the community, to our leisure travelers, to our business travelers.
- 42:07Speaker 15: We track all of the data we can. There's a
- 42:10Speaker 15: lot of data that comes through our tourism division with
- 42:13Speaker 15: the state. We have desires to have longer, longer haul
- 42:19Speaker 15: flights out West. We are working on Texas. We know
- 42:24Speaker 15: that is a big demand for the business community in
- 42:27Speaker 15: our state, and then of course as new leisure destinations
- 42:32Speaker 15: pop up, we talk to our airlines about that. We
- 42:34Speaker 15: meet with all of our airlines at least twice a year,
- 42:37Speaker 15: so we go to them, we talk to them about
- 42:39Speaker 15: what they see on their end. Everyone is very happy,
- 42:42Speaker 15: especially Breeze. They're loving the West Virginia market and they're
- 42:46Speaker 15: loving how our passengers in our community have welcomed them into.
- 42:50Speaker 3: Our market house.
- 42:51Speaker 15: Hercules, Hercules is fantastic. I don't know if you saw.
- 42:55Speaker 15: He got a new buddy. So we have another wildlife dog,
- 42:59Speaker 15: Ned that isrently training.
- 43:00Speaker 3: Under Hercules has got an intern.
- 43:02Speaker 15: He's got an intern and they're great friends.
- 43:06Speaker 5: Hercules is the is the official dog of the airport.
- 43:10Speaker 5: Talk about Hercules and now Ned's duties.
- 43:12Speaker 15: Yes, so Hercules is more than just our mascot. He's
- 43:15Speaker 15: actually he's work.
- 43:17Speaker 11: He is.
- 43:18Speaker 15: He's a wildlife patrol animal is what his formal title is,
- 43:22Speaker 15: and he helps us prevent any type of animal strikes
- 43:26Speaker 15: at the airport and keeping all of our aircraft and
- 43:29Speaker 15: our passengers safe. So just by being on property, it
- 43:33Speaker 15: deters other animals from wanting to live on property, and
- 43:37Speaker 15: it also scares off birds. But he is the sweetest.
- 43:41Speaker 15: He would never ever touch or hurt a bird or
- 43:44Speaker 15: an animal. He wouldn't know what to do with them,
- 43:46Speaker 15: so he just did.
- 43:47Speaker 3: He just like taps him on the should and says,
- 43:49Speaker 3: you got to go.
- 43:50Speaker 15: He just runs around and he wants to play with them,
- 43:52Speaker 15: and they don't want to play with him.
- 43:54Speaker 5: Let me give you a text here, and they used
- 43:56Speaker 5: airport abbreviations and I'm not up on my airport abbreviation.
- 44:00Speaker 5: Give me MSP DFW, I know what that one is, OK,
- 44:03Speaker 5: or PHX Phoenix. I was gonna say that would be
- 44:07Speaker 5: my guest would be Phoenix, Phoenix.
- 44:08Speaker 15: So Minneapolis Saint Paul or DFW Detroit or Dallas Fort Worth.
- 44:15Speaker 7: So those are all on.
- 44:16Speaker 15: The list, on the list, on the list we they're
- 44:19Speaker 15: on our wish lists that we share with the airlines
- 44:21Speaker 15: all the time. But again, the more passengers that are
- 44:25Speaker 15: utilizing the flights we have means the more flights will get.
- 44:29Speaker 15: So anytime you think about driving to a different airport,
- 44:33Speaker 15: check out our website. We have a cost calculator to
- 44:35Speaker 15: show you that it's actually cheaper to fly from home.
- 44:38Speaker 15: And the more that we utilize what we have, the
- 44:41Speaker 15: more we'll be able to.
- 44:41Speaker 5: Get give me a before we let you go, give
- 44:43Speaker 5: me a quick sell job, because a lot of people
- 44:45Speaker 5: will say, well, I would rather drive to Columbus and
- 44:48Speaker 5: flat or what would rather ID have the Cincinnati or
- 44:50Speaker 5: Pittsburgh or whatever what I mean. And sometimes maybe it
- 44:52Speaker 5: does make more sense, and I think you would probably
- 44:54Speaker 5: go along with that, But what's your cell job for
- 44:56Speaker 5: why they should why they should.
- 44:57Speaker 3: Fly to here?
- 44:58Speaker 15: So think about it on your way home. You've had
- 45:01Speaker 15: a great vacation, you've landed, and you realize you have
- 45:05Speaker 15: to drive three hours or you could be at CRW
- 45:08Speaker 15: and you could be home in fifteen twenty thirty minutes. Again,
- 45:12Speaker 15: by using what we have, we get more. We always
- 45:15Speaker 15: tell our passengers that for the major airlines like Delta,
- 45:19Speaker 15: American United, to book thirty to forty days out. Typically
- 45:23Speaker 15: that's the best fair rate for our airport. When you're
- 45:27Speaker 15: making a last minute trip, sometimes it gets a little
- 45:29Speaker 15: bit more expensive because we just have fewer seats. So
- 45:33Speaker 15: that's my pitch is it's cheaper, you're less wear and
- 45:36Speaker 15: tear on your car. Our parking is less expensive than
- 45:39Speaker 15: those airports that you're driving to, and in the long run,
- 45:42Speaker 15: it can save you time and money.
- 45:43Speaker 5: You have proven to be quite popular, because I have
- 45:46Speaker 5: another text for you. Now we've got to be off
- 45:48Speaker 5: the air about the ten oh six. All right, and
- 45:50Speaker 5: this will be the final question. Do you have anything
- 45:52Speaker 5: going to Houston?
- 45:53Speaker 15: Says the text, Not yet, but it is on our
- 45:54Speaker 15: list and it could happen in the near future.
- 45:58Speaker 5: All right, Dominic Granary, Western International, Yeager Airport. I appreciate
- 46:01Speaker 5: you being here. Thanks, lo' hang out with me here

- 50:15Speaker 3: It is Easter weekend.

- 50:21Speaker 5: some special interviews about that place Open Line, West Virginia
- 50:24Speaker 5: coming up after two thirty. Believe it or not, it
- 50:26Speaker 5: is the thirtieth anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing, and
- 50:29Speaker 5: we are going to go to Oklahoma City and talk
- 50:32Speaker 5: to someone who was boots on the ground radio guy

- 50:42Speaker 5: him about his memories of Oklahoma City coming up on
- 50:46Speaker 5: the show today, amongst other things.
- 50:47Speaker 3: TJ. Meadows is here. How you doing, man, I'm good.
- 50:50Speaker 21: I remember I was in Daytona Beach on spring break
- 50:53Speaker 21: when that happened, and I remember watching I think it
- 50:56Speaker 21: was CNN, and they were telling the story and at
- 51:01Speaker 21: one point they pivoted and they were talking to children
- 51:04Speaker 21: and they were saying, if mommy and daddy haven't come
- 51:06Speaker 21: home tonight, here's a number you could call. That's and
- 51:10Speaker 21: that crystallized just how terrible, Yeah, that day was.
- 51:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 51:15Speaker 5: And and to find out not that it really makes
- 51:17Speaker 5: a difference, but to find out that this was the
- 51:19Speaker 5: big shocking thing at that point because this was pre
- 51:21Speaker 5: nine to eleven. Yeah, but we had had had, you know,
- 51:23Speaker 5: the first people forget the World Trade Center was attacked
- 51:25Speaker 5: before nine eleven. It was in the early nineties and
- 51:28Speaker 5: the ninety three, maybe ninety two, ninety three, and fingers
- 51:32Speaker 5: started getting pointed in that direction and somebody said, it's
- 51:35Speaker 5: one of our own. Yeah, this was an American born,
- 51:37Speaker 5: American bread terrorists said.
- 51:39Speaker 22: Day sad day. All right, what's on a big show today?

- 51:51Speaker 22: Riley Moore at ten o six. Yeah, he's been in
- 51:54Speaker 22: the news a little bit in the news a little
- 51:55Speaker 22: bit lately, a little bit, a little bit, and we'll
- 51:57Speaker 22: ask him a point link question.
- 51:59Speaker 3: You need not imagine what that might be. Yeah, right
- 52:02Speaker 3: at the top of the show.
- 52:03Speaker 5: Yeah, And he was on Fox Business I think last night,
- 52:06Speaker 5: and he's been making the rounds and he's getting a
- 52:08Speaker 5: lot of comments. But there's also people saying that was
- 52:11Speaker 5: great what he did too, So we got to be fair.
- 52:13Speaker 5: We'll talk about you'll talk about that with him. I
