- 0:24It is time to leave your worries outside and join me, Dan O'Malley,
- 0:29Trade Trendholm, and Raj Sharma right here inside the Treehouse. Today is Friday,
- 0:41April twelfth, twenty twenty four. Today we will cover such topics as
- 0:51naked with an axe. Sorry, I'm just thinking into the future, also
- 1:04a less intense scrabble. But before we get to any of that, we
- 1:12must first discuss the biggest thing that happened this week in all of North Texas,
- 1:19the Great American Eclipse as I saw it referred to a few times,
- 1:25or as Steve Noviello, the very handsome guest inside the Treehouse occasionally from Fox
- 1:30four said, few things live up to the hype. This was one of
- 1:36them. And he wasn't just talking about his dreamy blue wiyes. He was
- 1:42actually talking about the eclipse. Me here in the US Virgin Islands. I
- 1:49posted what I saw of the eclipse, which was a bunch of clouds with
- 1:53the sun behind it, and I couldn't see anything, Not that I could
- 1:55have seen it even if there were no clouds, because there was only going
- 1:57to be a sliver of it covering up the sun. We get here,
- 2:01but in North Texas. You guys, you reached totality, and the photos,
- 2:09the videos that I saw from Totality in North Texas honestly lived up to
- 2:17the hype. The weather was not bad. You could see it clearly.
- 2:23Everything went dark for a while and it came back on, so we know
- 2:27it wasn't urkhot. So gentlemen, how was your eclipse? I've caught now
- 2:35I say this. If I had traveled or done anything out of the ordinary,
- 2:39I don't know that I would have the same thing. But just on
- 2:43the event itself, I walked outside, had daisy, the neighbors had the
- 2:46dogs. It was kind of like a little communal event. It was really
- 2:50cool. It was the one thing I remember from the eclipse in seventy nine
- 2:54that I is how I think when the sun goes, you know, the
- 3:00temperature changed in the middle of the day. It's just it's a very cool
- 3:04event. It was fun. I you know, I would not have traveled
- 3:08thousands of miles or you know the fact that I mean a Best Western in
- 3:13Grand Prairie was going for four hundred bucks and there were no rental cars in
- 3:15the city. You know, I don't if I had spent some money like
- 3:20that. I think I might feel short changed or but but I don't know.
- 3:23People really enjoyed it. I mean I was shocked at the bar We
- 3:25had people Germany, England, South America, I mean all over the world.
- 3:30We're here for this event. And in general everyone enjoyed it. It
- 3:38was cool, Like I thought, like I heard people like oath and tears
- 3:42and I'm like, wait in why, like did you stare at it?
- 3:45Is that what happened? Yeah? Actually actually there Uh the immediately after the
- 3:51eclipse, searches on Google for why do my eyes hurt? Skyrocketed. I'm
- 3:58not making that up, that's true. Uh. Yeah, And then did
- 4:01release a statement saying that they felt the effects of the eclipse. Really they
- 4:06did. They did release a statement saying that the effects of the eclipse were
- 4:12felt direct. Here's a secret. Yeah, so the power relies on the
- 4:17sun. Don't tell them. If they don't know, then there's no hope
- 4:27Already. I saw one release and it really did. It was like Urkott
- 4:31says that power dipped during the eclipse, and I was like, they released,
- 4:38don't say. One of my favorite things that I saw was from a
- 4:42congressman I think who had posted on social media saying how see you can't,
- 4:47basically saying you can't rely on the sun. This is why you need to
- 4:51depend on fossil fuels. Oh yeah, you can't, because the sun could
- 4:57have an eclipse, you can't. You can't depend on that as a power.
- 4:59So I guess he didn't stop to think about how the sun goes down
- 5:02every single night, but it still comes up the next day and can power
- 5:05things. But that was I don't know what it was about the eclipse.
- 5:10It brought out the worst and so many people. It was sort of like
- 5:15our tree house, which is typically full of stupid, right, because that's
- 5:19the stupid is this is the treehouses where stupid comes to breed. And for
- 5:26that one day during the total eclipse, it's like the tree house full of
- 5:31stupid spread across North Texas well and and and made everybody dumber. Now,
- 5:40But I mean, I can't argue with that. But I also will say
- 5:44this, anytime there's an event where news anchors have to fill automatically, you
- 5:48know, you just need to an addition for to the treehouse. Yeah yeah,
- 5:54yeah, they really should. I mean, I mean it's look,
- 5:58we've been doing this show and in various forms on various formats with various people
- 6:03for a long time, and we know stupid and so that's that's that's why
- 6:09when we see it, we know it, and that's also why we talk
- 6:13about it. It's actually it's actually was a perfect timing. It's sort of
- 6:18like Baine versus Batman. We're the bane of stupid. Batman just kind of
- 6:25plays with it. But we're bane. We're the ones we were born in
- 6:29the stupid I was watching. I just this is this is also another thing,
- 6:35like how lazy have we become? When they were live streaming and eclipse,
- 6:40when you could just I mean, for for a lot of people just
- 6:43go outside. But they're like, if you don't want a CNN said this
- 6:46and it was brilliant. They go, if you don't want to go outside,
- 6:49just turn on the TV. Like, is this what we're going?
- 6:51We can't. We're not even encouraging going outside. Now that's what we're doing.
- 6:56And they had one of the anchors was interviewing an astronaut and this was
- 7:00a direct quote and I was like, you you said that out loud.
- 7:03She's like, so, what's what's more? What's more magical? The eclipse
- 7:09that you just witnessed, or the four spacewalks you did, And I was
- 7:14like, I was like, is that a real because you should have seen
- 7:18the look on his face was like, I'm gonna go with space idiots.
- 7:27That was a direct quote from this lady. Oh my god. What was
- 7:30more magical the eclipse that you just witnessed in totality? And he was an
- 7:35older guy, so he's like he was sweet. He's like, you know,
- 7:38I'm not going to be around for the next one, Like yeah,
- 7:41so was it as magical as space? And he's like that was pretty cool?
- 7:46Like, Mama, was it? No, he's hilarious. Yeah,
- 7:56No, it's you mean being strapped, so you know, millions of pounds
- 8:01of jet fuel being propelled and propelled into space the waitlessness, not the eclipse
- 8:07by far away or yeah, does it, sir? Doesn't that comparison to
- 8:13looking up? Yeah, She's like he goes. At one point, he
- 8:18goes, well, you know, I got to see the Earth from outside
- 8:22the space shuttle, Like yeah, you win, Bud was all the eclipse.
- 8:30He's only like out of out of what tins of people that have done
- 8:33what he's done. Yeah, Yeah, And that's it's a great example of
- 8:39the eclipse. It's it not only dimmed the lights, but it also dimmed
- 8:43people's brains. Yeah, and you can tell, like you know, they
- 8:48have producers in their ears, like basically like, hey, so go ahead
- 8:50and ask him right now, like well, how does this compare to space?
- 8:56And instead of asking, you know, well, this is kind of,
- 8:58you know, in another scientific phenomen on, like how does that?
- 9:01You know, how does it compare to your travels into space? She was
- 9:03like, which one's more magical? I was like, what if I was
- 9:09the producer, I'm like, I didn't say that part. Don't ask him
- 9:11that. Yeah, trust me as someone who's dealt with a person who really
- 9:16didn't like to follow the script. A lot. Anchors need to follow the
- 9:20script because there's a reason for it, and sometimes if you go off of
- 9:26it, bad things happen. And that's a great example of it, because
- 9:30what you just described is a producer saying ask this, and the anchor think
- 9:35you actually, I keep stop right there, just the anchor thinking is the
- 9:39problem. And then the anchor thought, oh, I can reword this into
- 9:43my own words and make it better, and she didn't make it worse.
- 9:46The other thought would be is the producer just screwing with the anchor by saying
- 9:52ask him which was more magical? Oh yeah, that'd be hilarious because maybe
- 9:58they had maybe yeah, maybe they got into a fight at the previous news
- 10:03meeting and the producer didn't appreciate something that the anchor said, or vice versus.
- 10:09Another producer is just going to feed bad questions into their ear. I
- 10:15would just do that, That's I mean, yeah, I would. As
- 10:18if I was a producer, I wouldn't do that. It'd be like,
- 10:20hey, here's what I need you to ask him. Uh, don't don't
- 10:24go off script and just say, hey, you know, this is like,
- 10:28this is science and we're you know, we're in the presence of it.
- 10:30You've done this for You've gone to space four times, but for us,
- 10:33this is like, this is a cool event. What what how do
- 10:37you feel about it? Instead of going Which one do you think is better
- 10:43being in space? That's the dumbest question I've heard. Which one's better just
- 10:50writing in a space shuttle? Or it got cool for it got eight degrees
- 10:54cooler for two minutes? Which one? Which one did you like better?
- 10:56I thought it was really neat. I didn't have that experience that people were
- 11:01talking about like that were on the news or people that were chiming in on
- 11:03social media, like you know, it brought me to tears, and I
- 11:07was just so emotional over it. I was like, okay, I mean
- 11:11it was pretty it was pretty dope to watch it, like you know,
- 11:13actually happen and go the whole thing and then you could take the glasses off
- 11:18and look at it for a couple of minutes. But that was that was
- 11:22that. When it was done, I was like, cool, what's for
- 11:24lunch? This is like a meaningful moment in my lifetime. I mean,
- 11:28yeah, how many people I could? I'm with you. It's like,
- 11:31it's a cool event. I've seen a couple of eclipses. To me,
- 11:37it's not a it's not necessarily a life changing thing, but I can understand
- 11:43how some people maybe maybe some people are just more in tune with their emotions,
- 11:48or maybe they're just more in tune with space. I don't, I
- 11:52don't, I have no idea. I don't know anybody that was spiritually or
- 11:56physically moved by I mean I read a few people online on different Facebook posts
- 12:03were like this was just so magical. It brought me to tears, and
- 12:07I was like, wonderful, Like is that I want to know the demographic
- 12:09of the people that cried, Like, is it like people like I'm not
- 12:13going to be around twenty two years from now when this happens again. I
- 12:15think that's it. I think it's age related because you realize this is going
- 12:18to be your last eclipse. Kind of like the dude in fort Worth who's
- 12:20one hundred and five years old, and I think this one was like his
- 12:24thirteenth eclips to witness and he's probably well aware this was going to be the
- 12:30last one. He's one hundred and five and it just went over his house.
- 12:33I'm surprised that he didn't die right then and there, which would have
- 12:39been a cool thing. I mean, that's you know. I'm just I
- 12:41saw Haley's comment when I was I think five, and I'm just trying to
- 12:46make it to the next time it swings back around, so then my life
- 12:48can be bookended. Would you be Holly's comment if you saw when you were
- 12:52five, wouldn't you be seventy seven? Isn't it every seventy two years now?
- 12:56I believe I'll be like eighty one or eighty two when it comes back
- 12:58around seventy six years Yep. Interesting, okay, I will, yeah,
- 13:03that I was. And now I'm kind of worried about it because when I
- 13:07was five years old and Holly's Haley Holly's, I never know which one it
- 13:11is. When the comet first came around when I was five, for the
- 13:13first time for me to see it. When when Haley's commet first came around
- 13:16when I was five, it was a massive worldwide thing for a few days
- 13:20because it took some time, you know, to go by. We've all
- 13:26gotten dumber since then. It seems we made a huge deal out of the
- 13:30eclipse and said some really stupid things out of the eclipse, and eclipse has
- 13:33happened way more often than Haley's comet comes around. So I'm actually genuinely worried
- 13:39about when it comes back what we're gonna make of it, just based on
- 13:43what we said about this most recent eclipse. But they did say, like
- 13:48I was watching when physicists say that the cosmic lining up of this eclipse probably
- 13:52will never ever happen again. Yeah, because it's it was the perfect deal
- 13:58of you know that the fact that the Sun is four hundred times larger than
- 14:03the moon, and it was perfectly four hundred times the distance from the moon,
- 14:07and so it just lined up perfectly. Said yeah, yes, you
- 14:11will have other eclipses, but chances are it won't be like this now with
- 14:16you. Yeah, I don't understand the tears, but I also understand.
- 14:18You know, people lose their mind for full moons anyways, So people crying.
- 14:24It really wasn't that surprising, and I don't understand it, but yeah
- 14:28I did. There's a park then that's directly behind our place, and that's
- 14:33where we went to go watch it, and there are people in the park,
- 14:35and I was like, okay, this is kind of cool, like
- 14:37people are gathering for it. There was one way I was like, she
- 14:39didn't come out here for no goddamn eclipse. She came out to talk to
- 14:43people because she's I don't know if she had no friends. She literally had
- 14:46her chair like in the cove of like this set of trees, like there
- 14:52was a little little area that you can set it, and it was nowhere,
- 14:54like you from where she was sitting, you couldn't see the eclipse,
- 14:58and she was just adding away with the people in the park. I'm like,
- 15:01she's not here for the eclipse. She's lonely, like that's all that
- 15:05is for the people she's here because she doesn't talk to folks all day long.
- 15:09Ago no, if the kids don't visit anymore. I don't know what
- 15:13it was, but she was who I was watching. I was like,
- 15:15that's hilarious. I was pleasantly surprised that there were no like, you know,
- 15:20you didn't find that there was some secret cult that we know thought that
- 15:24this eclipse was there, uh you know, ticket to uh you know space
- 15:28and you know, some mass suicide or anything like that that were aware of.
- 15:33She may just not have been discovered yet. Oh that'd be so good.
- 15:37It's like the what the hail Bop guys, what was Yeah? The
- 15:41hell, yeah it was. It was the Heavenly Gate people with the hail
- 15:45Bop comment. That thing came around and they thought that was there. That
- 15:48was their moment. That was the time to drink the you know, can
- 15:50I just death juice and lay down on bunk beds wearing black nikes and purple
- 15:54shrouds and let's go hook up with the mother ship. But that's after they
- 15:58also self cast traded themselves, so some of them, well the men yes,
- 16:04well no, no, no, if you actually there is a few
- 16:08that didn't. Amazing the higher ups didn't. I just here's my question,
- 16:15and even for listeners, like just chime and send this to me on my
- 16:21social media whatever. How how charming? Like? How do you convince a
- 16:26group of people to do this? Like? I don't know. I would
- 16:29consider myself a charming guy. I perform on stage, people seem to like
- 16:33me. I consider myself charming, But I could never in a million years.
- 16:37I don't think sit a group of people down and went, hey,
- 16:41here's the deal. See those nikes, put them on, so your nuts
- 16:44to take them off. Let's let's all jump on this comment that's gonna come
- 16:48get us and have them go yeah, roch sounds good. I don't know
- 16:52how you do. Here's the thing. Have you tried I I will show
- 16:56you the post I did say I wanted to start a cult on I posted
- 17:00that on Facebook. I say, that's that's your first mistake. You can't
- 17:03you can't. You can't call it out. You can't tell people that it's
- 17:07a cult. Oh okay, we'll you'll do realize. There's a series on
- 17:12Netflix called How to Become a cult leader. Okay, now I do.
- 17:17And uh, that's not that's not a series. That's an instructional video for
- 17:21me. It's there's this whole you know series and it's all narrated by Peter
- 17:26Dinklic who actually does fabulous voice work. But it's like how to become a
- 17:30tyrant, how to become a cult leader. And there's a couple others they're
- 17:34fantastic, but this one it goes through Jim Jones and all the other like
- 17:38even the hell Bop people. I got it. I got to see how
- 17:42the hell Bop people got it, Like, I don't know how you convince
- 17:45people to do that. It started like, you know, twenty five years
- 17:48earlier, and it was this couple and it just started taking people in.
- 17:53And then it's watched that special. Yeah. I mean I've had House Guess
- 18:00before too, but nobody's like, hey, I've never been able to go
- 18:03what are these clothes? Rip your nuts off and let's go, let's go,
- 18:07let's get on that's right, that's my phone. And then and then
- 18:10hand them the bottle of something and say here, drink this, drink this,
- 18:14and nobody goes, what are we doing? Get out? We need
- 18:17to get out of this man's house. I think there's something wrong with this.
- 18:19Uh yeah, so, I mean I don't. I'm surprised there wasn't
- 18:23one. I would be I'd be stunned if they don't come out with something
- 18:26like the we found fifteen bodies in Buenos Aires and it's because they were all
- 18:30about to jump on the eclipse. But yeah, it was cool. I
- 18:36thought it was a fantastic phenomenon. Like I was like this when I was
- 18:41watching it. Pretty rad. Not gonna lie, but yeah, I mean
- 18:45I didn't have the the the tears in my eyes as some some folk did.
- 18:51Well, that's because you got surrounded by a whole lot as stupid,
- 18:53Like a lot of the conspiracy theories leading up to the eclipse, people claiming
- 18:59they were going to be mass of power outages, there were going to be
- 19:02cell service interruptions, that you had elected officials saying it was God sending us
- 19:08messages to repent for our sins. Alex Jones even said the government was going
- 19:15to use it as an excuse to declare martial law or or or to practice
- 19:21for declaring martial law. Wow. Again, So the eclipse brought out all
- 19:27this nonsense and you know what's funny is what I enjoyed about it more than
- 19:33anything else, is like for a weekend, for a day, you could
- 19:36turn on the news and it wasn't you know, politics and war and anything
- 19:40else else. You know, it was It's nice. There's no there's no
- 19:45you know, the no updates on the Middle East, so there were no
- 19:48what's China doing to Taiwan? None, none of that was happening. It
- 19:51was just like, hey, the sun's about to go away for a minute.
- 19:55That's because you were watching the wrong channel. Tray. Yeah, I
- 20:00uh, but you should have been watching was Alex Jones. Yeah, I
- 20:03don't. How how do you how do you find like, oh, Darius,
- 20:07no, you were you were watching your own television show, Trey.
- 20:17Oh no, Christ Jones. Here, I'll have to say you you got
- 20:19an old picture of I saw a recent picture of Alex Jones, and you
- 20:22are fifty pounds lighter. I'm a man, Trey. To take all these
- 20:30info war supplements, I thought you're gonna I thought you were gonna say that
- 20:33was a government conspiracy just to make you look fat. She like, yeah,
- 20:38let's go with it. By the way, I'm Alex Jones and the
- 20:47eclipse. Was it real? It was a false moon operation. The government
- 20:53just wants you to think of science. Science ain't real. It's hope.
- 20:57I'm meant to scare you in control. Oh you it's big balls full of
- 21:03gas and dust up there, But that ain't true. I'm the only big
- 21:07ball of gas and dust. Pay my legal bills. What do you think
- 21:15space lasers have been doing. They're juicing up the moon. They're juicing up
- 21:19the moon. And all those people standing around you staring up at the sky
- 21:22like a bunch of TikTokers on the phones, all paid actors. They're not
- 21:26real. They fold you. Even the ones in your family, your wife,
- 21:30your kids, not real, paid actors, just like mine. I'm
- 21:40surprised you were left with a video camera and a mic to talk into.
- 21:45The lawyers can't take it all. It clips my ass. It's actually Obama
- 21:52in this weather machine blotting out the sun. He wants the Earth to be
- 21:56as dark as he is. Okay, Alex, you remember darper Right,
- 22:06Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency DARPA Obama. They got the same number of letters
- 22:11and they rhyme it's so obvious. Okay. Well, and that didn't end
- 22:17when Obama left office, he kept it in his bathroom and he hit it
- 22:22until Biden snuck into power. Neither're alltogether, Obama, Darper Biden five letters
- 22:27each, and they all rhyme. I'm a genius by my supplements. Isn't
- 22:33isn't Trump? Five letters as well. Oh shit, you're listening to the
- 22:53Treehouse during this break. I need to go apologize to my dog and my
- 22:57wife. I didn't give them the heads up. Alex Jones was calling it.
- 23:06Let's get Daniel Cook into the Treehouse now. From Cook DFW Roofing and
- 23:11Restoration. Give this man a call for your free roof inspection eight three to
- 23:14three Cook DFW the website, cookdfw dot com. Daniel, what is it
- 23:19that gives contractors such a bad name? Dan? That's a good question,
- 23:23And there's just one thing. I think. There's a couple that stand out
- 23:26that we hear the most common ones, one being a communication. I can't
- 23:32I try to call them, they don't come me back, or they don't
- 23:34give me the answers to the questions I really wanted to have two. They
- 23:38don't give you a timeline. I didn't know what to expect. The project
- 23:44started and we were kind of blind and then and then they say, well,
- 23:47this is normal, and so I didn't know that going into it.
- 23:49Or the worst one is obviously they took half the money up front, they
- 23:53did a little bit of work, and then they stopped coming back. So
- 23:56yeah, I mean there's several things out there. I wish you guys could
- 24:00do my taxes as well, because we love you, guys and we trust
- 24:03you, and that's why we recommend you. In the tree house, give

- 25:12Now I realized that we had a lot going on with the eclipse and all
- 25:17the conspiracy theories, whether or not the rapture was gonna happen and Jesus was
- 25:22gonna come back. The world kept turning, it moved forward, and we've
- 25:26now found ourselves square in the middle of Friday, which means, of course,
- 25:30we need to do some birthdays. Today is Friday, April twelfth,
- 25:37twenty twenty four. Birthdays today Sirrcey Runin turns thirty. She is from Hannah
- 25:45the Lovely Bones and Joe in the twenty nineteen Little Women Remake. Happy Birthday,
- 25:51Tess Susy Jesse James Decker, country singer and wife of a former NFL
- 25:56wide receiver. Decker is thirty six Today. Brooklyn Decker is thirty seven.
- 26:04Unrelated to the other Deckers, this one was the Sports Illustrated cover model who
- 26:11also turned actress. She's married to tennis star Andy Roddick, and I believe
- 26:15they live in the Austin area. Other birthdays today from panic at the disco.
- 26:19Brendan Eerie is thirty seven. Country singer Easton Corbyn forty two, Claire
- 26:26Danes from the Homeland is forty five. And I don't know why I'm brain
- 26:33farting on the show My Soul Called Life. That was when she became a
- 26:37star. Her and Jared Leto all the way back in My Soul Called Life.
- 26:41Yeah. Other birthday, Shannon Doherty, one of Raj's favorites, is
- 26:45fifty three today. She famously played Brenda Walsh on nine oh two one Oh
- 26:52did you ever? Raj as a fan of Shannon Doherty and a fan of
- 26:55nine oh two one oh, ever, watch did you ever watch Shannon Doherty
- 26:59in Charmed? I wasn't. I wasn't a fan of the Shannan Doherty.
- 27:03Oh it was. I mean, Brenda was just annoying. So you were
- 27:07team Kelly, I was very much so, yeah, I was very much
- 27:11the team Jenny Garth on that side. And then she was very difficult to
- 27:17work with, and then same thing, Aaron Spelling gave her a shot and
- 27:19brought her back on Charmed, and then she was again very difficult to work
- 27:22with, and so they fired her again. But I you know, my
- 27:26heart does go out to her. She's suffering from my think stage four cancer.
- 27:30So God Blusterer, happy birthday. But yeah, I uh, you
- 27:33know, I was. I was a Brandon Walsh guy. I was my
- 27:34you know, it wasn't really a Dylan McKay dude. Ye I watched.
- 27:38I watched a fair amount of nine oh two and oh h when it was
- 27:41on because I felt like I had to because that was around the time that
- 27:45I was in high school and middle school, and if you weren't watching it,
- 27:48then you you didn't know a lot of the stuff that people were talking
- 27:52about. Yeah, so it's I kind of felt like I had to watch
- 27:55the show to I understand certain conversations. And you got to give them credit.
- 27:57They were ahead of their times. They covered AIDS, they covered homosexuality,
- 28:00they covered drug use. Uh, they were I mean Spelling was a
- 28:06Spelling wasn't ahead of his time. Well, they did it. They did
- 28:07a solid solid because our age group grew up on the shows like that,
- 28:11because we started out with Jesse On Saved by the Bell and her caffeine pill
- 28:17addiction, and then that and then Aaron Spelling moved us into harder hitting things
- 28:22like actual drug addiction. Uh in nine O two one, oh and such,
- 28:26I mean, and then they rolled into peach Bit after dark and it
- 28:30was just you know, off the rails at that point. I'm sorry,
- 28:33but I think y'all are the facts of life. Had had a show about,
- 28:37you know, caffeine pills too, let's not let's not. Yeah,
- 28:41did the caffeine pills get Trudy like it was Joe? Oh, of course
- 28:47it was Joe. That's so. That's so Joe Tooty didn't get And then
- 28:52you have remember don't remember Family uh Family Ties, but Michael J. Fox
- 28:59Yep, that's it. And you know the very young Tom Hanks as the
- 29:03alcoholic uncle. He was drinking the vanilla extract in the cupboard. I do
- 29:07not remember that episode. I don't either. Yes, Wow, Okay,
- 29:14I have to go back and say Tom Hanks was on Family Ties. Yes,
- 29:17he was. He was. Was one of his first roles. Was
- 29:21was this before or after Bosom Buddies? I think this was before. Wow.
- 29:26So someone saw Tom Hanks in a guest role as an alcoholic on Family
- 29:33Ties and said that there is one half of the star that I need to
- 29:38cross dress in prime time. That man look pretty address. That's what I
- 29:44like. If he's drink drinking vanilla extract, he'll put on some dresses and
- 29:48you know what put You can put Bosom Buddies in a category along with so
- 29:52many other things that Hollywood produced that would not be able to be on TV
- 29:59today because it would make so many people angry that two dudes were living in
- 30:03a women's only apartment building and cross dressing. Yeah, I think it's a
- 30:10It was a great show. I really enjoyed watching it because, on one
- 30:12hand, around the same time frame, around the same era, Archie wouldn't
- 30:18work today. All in the family wouldn't work today because Archie would be Archie
- 30:22would be seen as too harsh, and Bosom Buddies wouldn't work because the other
- 30:26side would see Bosom Buddies as too woke. Yes, well, also you
- 30:33have to look at it is in the almost juvenile way. You know,
- 30:38we looked at things like transvestite, transsexual we didn't understand, and everything else.
- 30:44But also, let me before we the original, the og show that
- 30:48addressed most of this stuff that people don't really give it credit for. It
- 30:51was brilliant. It was soap. Billy Crystal was a Gaman character in late
- 30:56seventies like that that was unheard of. Yeah, and that show spawned Benson.
- 31:02There you go, Thank you so forgiving us Benson. Robert gillm was
- 31:11was one of the true national treasures that people really didn't appreciate his he was
- 31:17so good like Sports Night. I don't know if you'll ever saw that Oh
- 31:19Love show. Oh that's one of my favorites. That that show died when
- 31:23he had his stroke. Yeah, yeah, I'm, by the way,
- 31:29convinced ABC did gave him a stroke. Yes, that was a phenomenal show
- 31:34that shouldn't have been treated the way it was. And I think that ABC
- 31:40had Robert can stroked. I didn't know that was I thought that was just
- 31:47arterial blockete. But maybe maybe it could be a giant network conspiracy. Why
- 31:52do you think they always had cheeseburgers there for craft services? That all makes
- 31:59sense. Thank you now, Now now you see what I'm talking about.
- 32:05I'm not doing it again. I had to tell my dog about It's okay,
- 32:07I'm not doing it again. See other birthdays today lost my spot and
- 32:12he hath anything else worth mentioning from everclear Alekstakis is sixty two, Vince gil
- 32:19Is sixty seven, Andy Garcia sixty eight, David Letterman seventy seven, Ed
- 32:24O'Neil from Modern Family and Married with Children seventy eight. Today, Oh and
- 32:30John k from Steppenwolf is eighty. Ye. It's pretty good, pretty good
- 32:34set of birthdays today, So happy birthday to all of those people. And
- 32:39whenever Robert Giholm's birthday is, I feel like we should light a candle,
- 32:45but not on a cheeseburger right now. I think that's too soon. Oh
- 32:58boy, you know, uh oh, there's a story here that I'm going
- 33:00to let the actual news anchors tell the story because sometimes I think it's fitting
- 33:06that they that they do it wearing no clothes. Hang on one second,
- 33:09Hang on one second, I need to restart this. This is one of
- 33:15those stories that I think it's important to have the anchors tell it as opposed
- 33:17to me just doing it for them. Mm hmmm. In tonight's crime report,
- 33:24a woman is accused of wearing no clothes and threatening a man with an
- 33:30axe. This woman allegedly chased the man through the woods in the slight Ol
- 33:34area. So if anyone's curious what trade did this past week, I was

- 36:15can all enjoy this uh naked woman chasing a man out of the woods with
- 36:19an axe story. Why'd y'all go to the woods? Yeah, what were
- 36:22you doing in the woods on like a naked hike? Please don't make white
- 36:30people. Please don't make naked hikes a thing. We don't need this.
- 36:32Just because Dan said it doesn't mean you gotta make it a thing. Don't
- 36:36do it. It's no, you don't. You don't know. We're gonna
- 36:38hashtag this. Yeah, yeah, naked ikes. Oh. I wanted to
- 36:45do some a new exercise program, so I took a date, took it
- 36:51to the woods, called her the C word, and ran it's a hell
- 36:55of a workout. You can call it the see word, toss and acts,
- 37:00and then took off. Trey beat every Kenyon in the woods. Screw
- 37:08Hunger games. It's crazy games and Trey is always the victor where it's called
- 37:16the C word games. Yeah, I can't wait to see that movie.
- 37:22Posters can't wait to see the gold Medalist. Oh Marrier, and that will
- 37:32be the second eclipse within a week. Okay, here we go. In
- 37:40tonight's crime report, a woman is accused of wearing no clothes and threatening a
- 37:45man with an axe. This woman allegedly chased the man through the woods in
- 37:50the Slight l area. W go's Mellory Smith is there with By the way,
- 37:53this is uh New Orleans w g n O. The rest of the
- 38:00Mallory, Well, Kurt and Susie. It all happened right here this past
- 38:07Saturday, and just hours ago. Police were able to track down the suspect
- 38:10and to rest her, and they say it's not the first time they've received
- 38:14reports of the woman walking around naked, but it is the first time with
- 38:19an axe that was reported. She's escalating. At a certain point, you
- 38:30have to recognize that it's getting worse and something needs to be done. I
- 38:37mean, come on, I mean, let's let's all there is that we
- 38:44make fun of Florida, but we we kind of you know, our deep
- 38:49dark secret is Louisiana. We're kind of afraid. Let's be honest. Yeah,
- 38:59there's a reason why we don't China spotlight on because then we'll find things
- 39:04a neked woman, an axe, or an alligator, either one it might
- 39:08be the same. I mean, you get into some of those swampy areas
- 39:13and things have a tendency to this kind of crossed. Anyway, I'm gonna
- 39:19switch this over to video modes so you can see so he can see the
- 39:22report from WGNO here and this is I believe they said it was Mallory Smith
- 39:30reporting on this. So here we go or a woman is accused of wearing
- 39:37no clothes and threatening a man with an axe. This woman allegedly chased the
- 39:42man through the woods in the Slight l area. W Geno's Mallory Smith is
- 39:46there with the rest of the story. Mallory, Well, Kurt and Susie.
- 39:52It all happened right here this past Saturday, and just hours ago.
- 39:57Police were able to track down the suspect to rest her, and they say
- 40:00it's not the first time they've received reports of the woman walking around naked.
- 40:06In the evening hours of Saturday, April sixth, slides out, police receive
- 40:09a frightening call reporting a naked woman allegedly chasing a man through the woods with
- 40:14an axe. You can't make this stuff up. It's just a crazy storyline.
- 40:17It's something that you probably see out of a horror movie. Police arrive
- 40:20on scene within minutes, but the woman, who investigators have now identified as
- 40:24Angela Wagner, was already gone. After talking to the man she was allegedly
- 40:29chasing, officers determined it was a random act. The two had never seen
- 40:32each other. Before the encounter, the man told police he was in the
- 40:37woods helping a homeless man get back on his feet, but to his surprise,
- 40:40an enraged woman with no clothes and a rusty axe charged at him.
- 40:45Is no way that that is true. He's just trying to save face.
- 40:52Yeah, he was doing he was doing something terrible in the woods to that
- 40:54homeless guy. There was no homeless guy. Guy and and naked Angela Wagner
- 41:01with her rusty axe in the woods? Things? What things would sour with
- 41:07that guy? And he's trying to you know, he didn't want to go.
- 41:08Yeah, we were on a date and I was about to propose.
- 41:14Turns out she had a different proposal. She wanted to play hide the axe,
- 41:20and it wasn't a place that you know, he was comfortable with.
- 41:22In my head, yeah, that is a uh how old is this story?
- 41:31It's just uh, just a couple because I'm just looking at it.
- 41:35I'm just looking what the anchors are wearing, and I'm like, what years
- 41:37that go back to slide down? Leuis in. I mean, honestly,
- 41:44I didn't think about that. You're right, if I correct that male anchor,
- 41:49it looks like, you know, that was the swamp thing of Scott
- 41:51van Pelt. You don't get a lot of Scott van Pelt references, though,
- 42:04well done her, thank you. I've surely looked at him, because
- 42:10hey, he looks huge behind that desk. And the other anchor, that
- 42:17outfit just looks like she they just woke her up out of a coma from
- 42:22nineteen seventy eight. I think Trey's right, that looks like a Scott Scott
- 42:28swamp thing van Pelt, and then they and then the anchor looks a little
- 42:36bit like, I don't know, nineteen eighty two, Nancy Lieberman, that's
- 42:43not even the poor man Scott van Pelt. That's like the it's like missing
- 42:49a chromosome, Scott Maanel, like we're ones to talk. Scott van Pelt
- 42:59slid down. Oh, speaking of being short a few chromosomes. Have you
- 43:08guys ever been intimidated by scrabble? I want to say I've never really played
- 43:17it, but you know what it is. Yes, So Mattel is launching
- 43:22a new, less intimidating version of scrabble because I guess letters and blocks are
- 43:28too scary for kids today. I really wish I was making this up Scrabble,
- 43:35one of the world's best loved word games, is getting a new,
- 43:38collaborative and accessible version. The game's been around for more than seventy five years,
- 43:44entertaining and infuriating players and families. If I my dad an equal measure
- 43:47with the simple premise of competing to see who can make the highest scoring words
- 43:52from a random selection of letters. Now, an updated game named Scrabble Together,
- 43:57adds a second side to the board that is collaborative and faster paced to
- 44:00make gameplay more accessible for anyone who finds word games intimidating. That's according to
- 44:06a statement that Mattel published earlier this week. Instead of competing, players collaborate
- 44:13to complete goal cards, and there are helper cards if assistance is required to
- 44:17aim is that the new game brings people together. What did they call words
- 44:23with friends? Words with idiots? I mean that was dumb death scrabble.
- 44:30Yes, now they've Now they've made it a board like you don't have to
- 44:35They've made a dumber I just, uh, yeah, I don't know what
- 44:38we're doing to kids today. I don't I don't understand. It's uh scrabble,
- 44:45that's what we're doing. Making a collaborative. Okay, spelling is hard.
- 44:53What are they going to do to Monopoly? I want to see what
- 44:55they do now. It's like it's going to be habitat for humanity. Everybody's
- 44:59going to help build houses on their property. Who can build the best co
- 45:04op? No one goes to jail. It's always free parking and there's free
- 45:15healthcare for everybody. Actually, it's kind of nice. They gentrified Baltic and
- 45:21Mediterranean. Everyone actually reads on the reading railroad. Oh yeah, I think
- 45:35we just get on the new game. Wow, it's a It's sad.
- 45:39I've never uh, I've never really played scrabble, like like, it's not
- 45:45a We never had that game. We had Monopoly grown up, but that
- 45:47was just because Indians do hotels. But that's it was more of an instructional
- 45:52board game than anything else. But we did have Monopoly. We played that
- 45:55and that was man that that would start fights. So I can't imagine what's
- 46:00spelling would do. My family played a lot of scrabble. We also played
- 46:06a lot of trivial pursuit and I never found it intimidating. It's like,
- 46:14if anything, it was good for me. It's how I probably know that
- 46:17the word key is an actual word. QI. The only time I've ever
- 46:22needed to use it was in scrabble, and to this day, I still
- 46:25don't know what the hell it means. But by god, that's you know,
- 46:29if that's a triple letter score. They were talking about thirty one points.
- 46:32Wow, Okay, we have to find out what game means. But
- 46:37yeah, we just had the Uh we had a monopoly in operation. Like
- 46:40if you don't, it doesn't get more Indian than that. And like you
- 46:44could tell, like when we were playing it as kids, like the one
- 46:46that just kept bumping it against the side, You're like, Oh, dermatology,
- 46:51that's what they're gonna be. That's what they're going to specialize in.
- 46:53You could tell. But yeah, we didn't have the We didn't have that.
- 46:55We had we had a hungry, hungry hippos. I don't think you
- 47:00can have one today. Isn't that fast shaming? I don't know what that
- 47:04game would do well balanced tippos. I don't know how that's candy Land just
- 47:13promoting diabetes. Also a fantastic name for a strip club, and Battleship was
- 47:23just a way for the Navy to uh, you know, work on indoctrinating
- 47:29you as a child and getting you to enlist in the future. Yeah,
- 47:32that's exactly. Maybe that's all it was. All board games is really just
- 47:37you know, training for the actual life ahead. Yeah. And you know
- 47:44the kid that brought in, like the brought in cookies from the easy bakeup
- 47:47and you just you just don't she's not going to cook. That's they're just
- 47:52not going to cook it. And uh, but yeah, that's wild.
- 47:55I can't believe they're doing that to board games because it's I don't know,
- 47:59maybe it's causing a lot of fights because we didn't play it, so I
- 48:01don't know. The only reason whatever cause any fights is this is because you
- 48:06don't have a decent enough vocabulary to have a chance at winning. Therefore,
- 48:09you play the game more and you learn more words and you get better.
- 48:15Yeah, but that's the that's the thing now is uh it has to be
- 48:21super inclusive, right, and you can't because you can't. Everybody has to
- 48:25be on the same page. Isn't that right? Is that what it is?
- 48:28I don't know. I'm just why. I'm glad to doing it.
- 48:30But that's the case, then how the hell do you play clue? Does
- 48:35anybody still, That's what I want to know. Does anybody still you can't
- 48:37play a game where there's you're solving a murder, can you? Is that?
- 48:40Like, isn't that too much for today? Yeah? I mean if
- 48:44if scrabble with tiles and letters is intimidating, then then how do you how
- 48:51do you fix clue? Is everybody the murderer? Or is nobody the murderer?
- 48:55Or is it in Instead of there's been a murder, there's there's been
- 48:59a there's been a hugging. We having to find out we have to find
- 49:04out who the who the hugger is in the house and which room they hugged
- 49:07somebody? Now was it a consensual hug? Is the question? That's when
- 49:10you're getting into the you're getting into the rule book. Ah, Yes,
- 49:15that's the game. I can see in thirty years people will be doing a
- 49:20podcast like this somewhere in space, feeling nostalgic about the game of consent.
- 49:30Yeah. I mean, what's next? I mean, they're gonna take grand
- 49:32theft auto and like all of a sudden, you're gonna you know, pick
- 49:35the hooker up and you know, you know, fix her up and get
- 49:37her you know, on a solid life, get off the streets. Grand
- 49:42the Grand Theft Auto Pretty Woman version. He cleaned that hooker right up,
- 49:50I tell you, and she got him to stop selling drugs. It's a
- 49:53it's a it's a fairy tale story. Okay. So what you're saying is
- 49:59maybe maybe changing up some of the some of the games isn't all bad.
- 50:05I mean I don't want to. I don't want to feel like there was
- 50:07a heartwarming moment when I'm playing Grand Theft Auto. I mean, if it
- 50:12does happen, I'm just saying like, I wouldn't know that actually is a
- 50:15solid point if you're intimidated by scrabble. Oh yeah, how do you feel
- 50:20when you pick up a controller and start playing Grand Theft Auto? Yeah,
- 50:23what do you do? Like, how do you call him? Duty's going
- 50:25to be terrible? Are gonna fuck up? Solitaire? Connect four is gonna
- 50:42be all chanked up. What they're gonna do that bad boy? Make you
- 50:52play it with somebody. You have to play Solitaire with a friend. Now,
- 51:02that's a new game for your phone. Solitaire with friends. Now.
- 51:08I think that's going to be the episode title of this. Yeah, all
- 51:14right, there you go. That is Friday, number thirty two inside the
- 51:16Treehouse. Thanks for hanging out with us today. I'm glad you survived the
- 51:20eclipse and everything that happens since, including this episode. We will check back
- 51:24with you next week for episode ninety one of the Treehouse. We'll see you
- 51:30in there, yes,
