- 0:00Speaker 2: Joining me.
- 0:00Speaker 1: Now we have Virginia Congressman Seuhaus supermonium. He serves on
- 0:04Speaker 1: the House Oversight, Science and Ethics committees.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Congressman, good to see you again, sir.
- 0:08Speaker 1: So what is your response to Todd Blanche's comments today
- 0:11Speaker 1: refusing to promise the DOJ will act independently of the
- 0:15Speaker 1: White House and saying there's nothing inconsistent about Trump pledging
- 0:19Speaker 1: to protect law enforcement while pardoning January sixth rioters.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't think Todd Blanche understands who he is
- 0:26Speaker 3: supposed to be working for. He's supposed to be working
- 0:30Speaker 3: for the American people, and the Department of Justice is
- 0:33Speaker 3: supposed to look out for the justice of the American people,
- 0:37Speaker 3: not the president. The president is not supposed to be
- 0:40Speaker 3: his boss. But he doesn't see it that way, right,
- 0:43Speaker 3: And so what he wants to do is come up
- 0:45Speaker 3: with legal theories to protect the President in any way
- 0:48Speaker 3: possible and to continue cover up after cover up that
- 0:51Speaker 3: we've seen in this administration. And I think people are
- 0:55Speaker 3: sick of it. I cannot believe he was confirmed. It
- 0:57Speaker 3: just shows that Republicans and cons especially in the Senate,
- 1:01Speaker 3: seem to be rubber stamping things that even they have
- 1:04Speaker 3: spoken out about in the past with previous Departments of Justice.
- 1:08Speaker 3: So this is unprecedented and continuing the cover up of
- 1:11Speaker 3: this administration.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Yeah, unprecedented for a president's personal defense attorney to become
- 1:17Speaker 1: the Attorney General.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Of the United States.
- 1:19Speaker 1: But let's move to the Top Oversight Committee Democrat Robert Garcia,
- 1:23Speaker 1: who condemned a DOJ memo stipulating the President Trump can
- 1:26Speaker 1: claim executive privilege over communications with private advisors.
- 1:31Speaker 2: So what are your concerns?
- 1:32Speaker 1: This move could allow the White House to withhold information
- 1:34Speaker 1: from Congress, potentially shield allies from congressional subpoenas, particularly in
- 1:40Speaker 1: the Epstein investigation. And what can Democrats realistically do if
- 1:44Speaker 1: the administration refuses to comply?
- 1:48Speaker 3: Sure, so let's understand what they're trying to do. Private
- 1:51Speaker 3: advisors are such a broad term. It can include pretty
- 1:55Speaker 3: much anyone. So even someone who's not necessarily in the
- 1:58Speaker 3: administration could be covered by a private advisor. Right, So
- 2:02Speaker 3: Steve Bannon's calling the president, or if the President talks
- 2:05Speaker 3: to someone about a shady deal that he wants to
- 2:09Speaker 3: do on the side and have them work with his
- 2:11Speaker 3: son or son in law, Right, So that is just
- 2:14Speaker 3: going to continue the corruption, continue the cover ups, and
- 2:18Speaker 3: this is meant to prevent Democrats from trying to get
- 2:22Speaker 3: the documents we need to prove that they are engaged
- 2:27Speaker 3: in unprecedented corruption. We will take them to court. We
- 2:31Speaker 3: will have people take them to court because this is
- 2:34Speaker 3: illegal and this is unconstitutional, and the whole point of
- 2:39Speaker 3: some of these laws we have in place already is
- 2:42Speaker 3: to get transparency so that we know when there is
- 2:45Speaker 3: outrageous corruption, we know when there is a cover up
- 2:48Speaker 3: and illegal cover up. And so certainly we will continue
- 2:51Speaker 3: to push even if they try to come up with
- 2:54Speaker 3: these legal theories to protect the president.
- 2:57Speaker 1: So this week, a woman in your Virginia, just to
- 3:00Speaker 1: Carolina Molina, posted a video showing a masked ICE agent
- 3:04Speaker 1: pointing a gun at her.
- 3:05Speaker 2: She filmed him with her cell phone. Molina, who was a.
- 3:07Speaker 1: US citizen, says that agents blocked her vehicle after she
- 3:11Speaker 1: confronted them.
- 3:12Speaker 3: No.
- 3:12Speaker 1: DHS claimed she tried to endanger officers, but dashcan footage
- 3:16Speaker 1: doesn't show her trying to hit them.
- 3:18Speaker 2: You spoke with Molina, so what did she.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Tell you and what questions do you have for DHS
- 3:23Speaker 1: about this agent's conduct.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Yeah, she is scared for her family, she's scared for herself,
- 3:30Speaker 3: but she refuses to stop speaking out. She is going
- 3:34Speaker 3: to continue to push them on releasing their footage as
- 3:39Speaker 3: well as to get to a full investigation of what happened. Basically,
- 3:43Speaker 3: what happened was she was mining her own business, right
- 3:46Speaker 3: she was driving her car and she yelled something at
- 3:49Speaker 3: the ice officers, but they called them a hoe, you
- 3:52Speaker 3: know something. And you know a lot of people yell
- 3:54Speaker 3: at ice officers these days, and so the ice officer
- 3:58Speaker 3: decided that he would pull a gun off on her
- 4:00Speaker 3: and point it at her head. That was the response,
- 4:03Speaker 3: and that is completely illegal. It should be reprimanded immediately
- 4:08Speaker 3: and there should be a full investigation. The problem is
- 4:11Speaker 3: that this Department of Justice, this FBI will not hold
- 4:16Speaker 3: ICE accountable. In fact, they are actively covering up for Ice,
- 4:19Speaker 3: and they continue to hold the people who are being accosted,
- 4:24Speaker 3: we're having guns point on them, who are getting shot
- 4:26Speaker 3: in some cases, they're holding them responsible for those incidents
- 4:29Speaker 3: when it's clearly not the case. In cases like this,
- 4:32Speaker 3: and like with Renee Good, we have the video of
- 4:34Speaker 3: what was taken by private citizens and so we know
- 4:38Speaker 3: that it was the fault of Ice, but the administration
- 4:41Speaker 3: continues to push this narrative that ICE needs to be
- 4:44Speaker 3: protected at all costs, even when they break the law themselves.
- 4:50Speaker 2: She calls him a name.
- 4:51Speaker 1: These are really tough guys. These ICE guys can't even
- 4:53Speaker 1: be called a name.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Good grief.
- 4:55Speaker 1: So Democrats at the DNC summer meeting yesterday approved dueling
- 4:59Speaker 1: resolutions whether I should be abolished or reformed.
- 5:02Speaker 2: The vote is not binding, it does not.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Set the party's platform, but it comes after the administration.
- 5:07Speaker 1: This week, sett plans to spend about twenty million dollars
- 5:10Speaker 1: equipping immigration officers with gloves that deliver powerful electric shocks.
- 5:15Speaker 1: They're supposed to be used as a de escalation tool.
- 5:18Speaker 1: But does the party's disagreement on ICE. Does it hinder
- 5:21Speaker 1: its ability to stand up to the administration's immigration agenda.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Shouldn't there be a unified message going into the midterms.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Well, I think we're more unified than people think. You know,
- 5:33Speaker 3: the reality is we want ICE as we know it
- 5:36Speaker 3: to get completely overhauled. ICE has tens of billions of dollars.
- 5:41Speaker 3: They're funded like a paramilitary. I have not voted for
- 5:44Speaker 3: one dime for ICE, nor will I in the future.
- 5:47Speaker 3: Because of the way that they have handled American citizens right,
- 5:51Speaker 3: and so this is not immigration enforcement. Democrats are still
- 5:55Speaker 3: a supportive of general immigration enforcement of the laws, but
- 5:59Speaker 3: not this. This is completely out of bounds, even for
- 6:03Speaker 3: the people who voted for President Trump. One of the
- 6:06Speaker 3: Trump voters in my district was accosted by ICE himself
- 6:10Speaker 3: because he looked Hispanic, because he was Hispanic. And so
- 6:13Speaker 3: that is what Democrats and even some Republicans now are
- 6:16Speaker 3: saying when it comes to ICE, is that we need
- 6:18Speaker 3: to completely overhaul it. You can get rid of it
- 6:20Speaker 3: and bring up another agency to do immigration enforcement. But
- 6:26Speaker 3: what we need to understand is that ICE is not
- 6:29Speaker 3: doing the job of immigration enforcement. They are doing the
- 6:32Speaker 3: job of a paramilitary essentially.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Congress and Seahouse super monium. It's always good to see
- 6:38Speaker 1: my friend.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Thank you much
