- 0:21Speaker 1: An interesting greeting from Mike Golic Senior this morning, asking me,
- 0:24Speaker 1: if we were playing clean, what we we shoot at
- 0:27Speaker 1: Shittacock Hills where the US Open is currently being played, And,
- 0:31Speaker 1: by the way, New York right now currently has the
- 0:34Speaker 1: World Cup going on, has a Knicks Parade going on
- 0:37Speaker 1: with north of a million and a half people more
- 0:40Speaker 1: than New Year's Eve, and they have the US Open
- 0:43Speaker 1: going on as well at Chittagock Hills.
- 0:45Speaker 2: I could not imagine the draffic there.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Hey, luckily the l Ie I mean goes right by
- 0:52Speaker 3: the course, so if you're smart, you'll take that, even
- 0:55Speaker 3: though that's probably gonna be packed as well. Yeah, everything
- 0:59Speaker 3: is turned is coming out in New York right now,
- 1:01Speaker 3: no doubt about it.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:03Speaker 1: So to answer your question about what I would shoot
- 1:05Speaker 1: on Shinnecock's course.
- 1:08Speaker 3: I mean, you hit it, you hit it in the
- 1:10Speaker 3: in the rough. I mean, it's for those guys. It's hard.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Imagine hacks like us trying to just hack the ball
- 1:17Speaker 3: out of there.
- 1:18Speaker 1: It's crazy. So what do you think you would shoot?
- 1:20Speaker 1: I played the course before. It's by my house on
- 1:23Speaker 1: Long Island. I broke a hundred when I played it.
- 1:26Speaker 1: I was a lot younger, I was a lot better
- 1:28Speaker 1: and I was playing from the short tease. So if
- 1:31Speaker 1: you put me in, you on the blue teas, which
- 1:33Speaker 1: is it's not the tips, it's also not the it's
- 1:37Speaker 1: not the longest you can play for. I think it's
- 1:39Speaker 1: I think there it's blues and then white and then
- 1:42Speaker 1: the tips. Yeah, so let's say we're on the blues.
- 1:45Speaker 2: What do you think?
- 1:46Speaker 3: Oh my god, I mean one hundred and twenty one
- 1:50Speaker 3: and twenty I mean I I I would probably go
- 1:55Speaker 3: less than as soon as I sliced my driver into
- 1:58Speaker 3: all that crap, I would probably put my driver away
- 2:03Speaker 3: and be scared to hit it. Just hit three wood yes,
- 2:06Speaker 3: or hybrid yes, yeah, or hybrid something. Just to stay
- 2:10Speaker 3: on the short stuff.
- 2:11Speaker 2: I might pitch all the way down the fairway.
- 2:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, yeah exactly. I mean it's brutal, but
- 2:18Speaker 3: I am happy.
- 2:19Speaker 2: I know.
- 2:19Speaker 3: I think Sam Burns is as we do. This is
- 2:23Speaker 3: winning it. But I mean it's low scoring right now.
- 2:27Speaker 3: And I love it when a major course is hard.
- 2:32Speaker 3: I love sideways rain at the British Open or the Open.
- 2:36Speaker 3: I love a hard course like Shinnacock, how it's going
- 2:40Speaker 3: to be. I love when the conditions are tough. I
- 2:42Speaker 3: don't want to see twenty five under right. I want
- 2:45Speaker 3: to see ten guys under par and that's it, and
- 2:48Speaker 3: everybody else struggle it.
- 2:50Speaker 2: I'm with you.
- 2:50Speaker 1: You want to see guys who play the nicest courses
- 2:53Speaker 1: in the nicest conditions, manicured absolutely to perfection.
- 2:59Speaker 2: You want to see these guys. It's just a couple
- 3:00Speaker 2: of weekends.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Out of the year, sweat it out, have to play
- 3:04Speaker 1: in difficult conditions, high wins, large, you know, big, rough,
- 3:08Speaker 1: a lot of rough, weeds, whatever it is to keep
- 3:12Speaker 1: the scores lower up. Totally with Mike, Yes.
- 3:15Speaker 4: See, I have to disagree.
- 3:16Speaker 5: You don't want a game winning bogie shot like you
- 3:20Speaker 5: don't want to honey.
- 3:22Speaker 4: Bogey to win. It feels it feels like you just
- 3:26Speaker 4: were the best of the worst.
- 3:28Speaker 2: As opposed to the best. No, Mike, what that is
- 3:30Speaker 2: is a great Bogeye.
- 3:33Speaker 3: Listen in my sport. I mean, look at the I
- 3:36Speaker 3: did the AFC Championship game, uh Broncos in New England
- 3:41Speaker 3: first half to clean field, second half of snow. How
- 3:43Speaker 3: well do you play in the bad conditions right right?
- 3:46Speaker 3: If it's rained, if it's snow whatever, you know, I
- 3:50Speaker 3: know it can be people like you, Mike Yea. I
- 3:52Speaker 3: could see you look at it and say, well, you'd
- 3:55Speaker 3: like it even playing field. Well, basically it isn't even
- 3:58Speaker 3: playing field because both teams have to play in it. Yeah,
- 4:00Speaker 3: but you'd like your speed, your receiver to be able
- 4:03Speaker 3: to use his speed. You know. I get what you're saying,
- 4:06Speaker 3: but I disagree.
- 4:09Speaker 1: And that's what sports radio is all about. It is
- 4:13Speaker 1: that should be the name of a podcast. I get
- 4:15Speaker 1: what you're saying, but I disagree.
- 4:16Speaker 3: I agree exactly.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Let's get on that, Mikey.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Mikey, why you want to see him go fifteen under
- 4:23Speaker 1: sixteen under?
- 4:23Speaker 2: They do that the RBC heritage.
- 4:25Speaker 6: I mean, I like the Masters where it's like, okay,
- 4:29Speaker 6: there's a line and there's if. It's if you're telling
- 4:32Speaker 6: me the guy who wins it shot what I shoot
- 4:35Speaker 6: at the local course.
- 4:36Speaker 4: I don't like it, right.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Can you look up the last year's winner of the
- 4:40Speaker 1: US Open and tell me what they shot? Mike is
- 4:43Speaker 1: right at the time of taping, right now, Sam Burns
- 4:46Speaker 1: is at first at minus two.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Everyone else, obviously Graham McDowell. Guys like that.
- 4:51Speaker 1: They're all minus one right now. A lot of guys
- 4:53Speaker 1: haven't teed off yet, but I have told you like
- 4:56Speaker 1: two times a year it's okay for the course to
- 4:58Speaker 1: be difficult.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Mike. Here's what drives me crazy. You know, somebody, what
- 5:03Speaker 2: are these golfers.
- 5:04Speaker 1: They're pampered all year round, play the nicest courses, the
- 5:07Speaker 1: nicest conditions. They're gonna complain about the US Open conditions.
- 5:11Speaker 1: You know it's coming, Mike.
- 5:12Speaker 3: Do not want to hear a word out of any
- 5:15Speaker 3: of them, because they all got to play under the
- 5:17Speaker 3: same conditions, just like any athlete in any sport. Everybody's
- 5:21Speaker 3: got to play under those conditions. If you know what,
- 5:24Speaker 3: if it takes away the strength of your game, tough,
- 5:27Speaker 3: you know what, you gotta find.
- 5:28Speaker 4: Another way to win. Yes, Yes, I was surprised.
- 5:31Speaker 5: I couldn't remember who won the US Open last year
- 5:34Speaker 5: and then I look at it and it was JJ.
- 5:37Speaker 4: But I'm looking at it.
- 5:38Speaker 5: In round four he shot plus two for a minus
- 5:41Speaker 5: one on the tournament, and I'm like, that doesn't sound
- 5:44Speaker 5: like it's some great feet.
- 5:45Speaker 4: That sounds like everybody else messed up more.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Again, that's a great plus two, I mean, Mike will agree. Yeah,
- 5:52Speaker 2: you know what I love.
- 5:53Speaker 3: About the first the first two day pairings, and I
- 5:57Speaker 3: think I remember I'm hearing saying this now it's it's
- 6:00Speaker 3: Scotty Scheffler and JJ spawn the number one in the world,
- 6:04Speaker 3: the winner of the US Open last year, and then
- 6:06Speaker 3: they they're paired up with the the US Amateur Champ. Yes,
- 6:12Speaker 3: so I mean, could you imagine that the US Amateur
- 6:15Speaker 3: Champ you were with JJ, the last year's winner in
- 6:17Speaker 3: Scotty Scheffler. Yes, how the nerves have to get you?
- 6:21Speaker 2: Oh amazing, and Scotty going for the career Grand Slam
- 6:23Speaker 2: here at the US Open. Yes. Crazy, I'm totally with Mike.
- 6:29Speaker 3: Uh.
- 6:29Speaker 1: The heart of the conditions, especially for the majors. Mike,
- 6:32Speaker 1: it's a major, it should be difficult. You should go
- 6:34Speaker 1: out there and just breeze through a round of eight under.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Par and it's crazy. I'm totally with you.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Thank you for thank you. I felt alone for so
- 6:42Speaker 1: many years and now finally I have.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Soon who's on my tide?
- 6:46Speaker 3: I'm with you?
- 6:47Speaker 1: Yes, Mike, you would uh you would not? Would you
- 6:50Speaker 1: attend a parade like as a fan, not as a player.
- 6:53Speaker 1: I know he would have loved as a player.
- 6:55Speaker 3: But as a fan, there is there is no way
- 6:59Speaker 3: on God screen earth that would go in that melee
- 7:01Speaker 3: not a chance?
- 7:02Speaker 2: All right? How about a parade down Main Street though
- 7:05Speaker 2: for like you know, the youth soccer team. That's fine, right,
- 7:09Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I.
- 7:10Speaker 3: Mean that's hundreds of people as opposed to hundreds of
- 7:12Speaker 3: thousands of people.
- 7:14Speaker 4: Right, that's not a parade, that's a walk.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Yeah, that's exactly right, that's exactly right.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Now because Mikey was coming up, I want to talk
- 7:22Speaker 1: to you about Joe Burrow. But Mikey uh in our
- 7:25Speaker 1: number one of steat'sa company today, came up with some
- 7:28Speaker 1: things where in theory it sounds like a great idea
- 7:32Speaker 1: until you actually get to it and then you.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Realize this was a terrible idea.
- 7:36Speaker 3: Parade's a great example, yes, a great example of that.
- 7:40Speaker 3: You'd be like all hype, yeah, yeah, I want to
- 7:42Speaker 3: do it, and then you start the trek, yes, and
- 7:45Speaker 3: with all the people, and you're like, God, this sucks.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Wait, So I'm gonna run some more by you here again.
- 7:53Speaker 4: Okay, I'll run through. I'll run through my list.
- 7:56Speaker 5: You could stop me if you want to disagree with
- 7:58Speaker 5: any of them, or if you want to add any
- 7:59Speaker 5: of them.
- 8:00Speaker 4: So New Year's even Manhattan oh listen.
- 8:04Speaker 3: I mean I've always thought about that, and does anybody.
- 8:07Speaker 3: I'm sure they do. You're in that, you're packed next
- 8:10Speaker 3: to somebody, you can move. What if you have to pee?
- 8:14Speaker 4: I mean you have to leave?
- 8:16Speaker 3: What?
- 8:16Speaker 2: What?
- 8:17Speaker 3: What are you doing? It's a horrible thought.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Yes, there are more people at the Knick's parade than
- 8:22Speaker 1: there are than there are at New Year's even on
- 8:25Speaker 1: any given year.
- 8:26Speaker 2: It's crazy.
- 8:26Speaker 1: I mean, I imagine Taylor's there by the way, exactly.
- 8:34Speaker 2: One who doesn't care. He'll be on himself.
- 8:36Speaker 5: I mean, yeah, yeah, go smell Times Square on New
- 8:39Speaker 5: Year's Day and you'll know where everybody pe other ones.
- 8:45Speaker 4: Day baseball games.
- 8:46Speaker 2: O, Mike, I see Mike liking that.
- 8:49Speaker 3: I like a day baseball game. I'm always into day drinking.
- 8:53Speaker 3: I am into Darty's I am I am. I am
- 8:57Speaker 3: absolutely into that. You get home in a reasonable out
- 9:00Speaker 3: still get a good night's sleep.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:02Speaker 3: I guess that's a sixty three year old and me talking.
- 9:06Speaker 3: I love day baseball games, love them, Yes, I do too.
- 9:10Speaker 3: It was weird. This was a weird one for me.
- 9:12Speaker 3: I like day baseball all right.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Picnics Oh wow, wow.
- 9:18Speaker 3: You know I got spoiled my parents were in a
- 9:21Speaker 3: club with all the people they grew up with called
- 9:23Speaker 3: Club Unique, And four times a year there was picnic
- 9:27Speaker 3: at this park in our city. And I mean I
- 9:30Speaker 3: grew up on it for decades and I loved it.
- 9:34Speaker 3: I absolutely loved getting together. We played horseshoes, went down
- 9:38Speaker 3: there and cooked breakfast. It was great when I was older.
- 9:41Speaker 3: The cool thing when we were kids is to watch
- 9:43Speaker 3: the dads tap the keg and drink out of the keg.
- 9:46Speaker 3: And then when you became old enough to drink out
- 9:49Speaker 3: of the keg or or not, get caught sneak in it. Yeah,
- 9:53Speaker 3: I kind of I kind of dug those picnics. So
- 9:56Speaker 3: that's this is the difference. Now you're talking about more
- 9:58Speaker 3: of like a cookout. You're talking more of like a barbecue.
- 10:01Speaker 5: I'm talking about a blanket with a basket and you
- 10:04Speaker 5: walk to a place and you lay down the blanket
- 10:06Speaker 5: and you sit down and you eat a meal.
- 10:08Speaker 4: You're talking about like.
- 10:10Speaker 2: We go talking about like a romantic right, Yeah, you're right.
- 10:14Speaker 1: All of a sudden, you know, you buy a couple
- 10:16Speaker 1: of sandwiches, you sit down on the blanket, and you're
- 10:18Speaker 1: sitting next.
- 10:18Speaker 2: To a bile of ship you know.
- 10:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm You're right, I'm not in it.
- 10:22Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, you're talking about Okay.
- 10:25Speaker 1: But I gotta tell you the Goldic family picnic or
- 10:27Speaker 1: cook aut whatever you want to call it, sounds the life.
- 10:29Speaker 4: Oh no, that I would sign me up, sign me
- 10:32Speaker 4: up for that fire fact.
- 10:33Speaker 3: Maybe aquariums. See, it's weird because being now, as I mentioned,
- 10:45Speaker 3: sixty three and a grandfather, walking through with your grandkids
- 10:50Speaker 3: different and seeing it's just like Christmas with grandkids when
- 10:55Speaker 3: they're young, When they're young, right, and just the amazing
- 10:57Speaker 3: You kind of get to live it through them again.
- 11:00Speaker 2: They're seeing things for the first time, right, yes.
- 11:02Speaker 3: And you kind of get to enjoy that. So from
- 11:05Speaker 3: that side of it, I dig them. But to your point,
- 11:08Speaker 3: I have to kind of look at it from two lenses.
- 11:11Speaker 3: But from the lens I'm at now. I now. The
- 11:14Speaker 3: other great thing is I'm at the aquarium for forty
- 11:17Speaker 3: five minutes tops, and then the kids are bored and
- 11:19Speaker 3: they want to go, so I'm in and out.
- 11:24Speaker 2: He's pushing them through. If you keep up with these fish,
- 11:28Speaker 2: let's go on to the shorts. Right.
- 11:30Speaker 5: If you keep looking at it through the lens of
- 11:32Speaker 5: a kid, you're gonna win every time.
- 11:33Speaker 4: Because my kid loves a parade.
- 11:35Speaker 3: Yeah right, oh yeah, no.
- 11:38Speaker 2: No, kids love all this stuff. Kids love picnics, they
- 11:41Speaker 2: love day baseball, they love all of it.
- 11:43Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, because it sounds like it's good. Uh, something
- 11:46Speaker 4: a kid doesn't love, but adults do. Packed bars, get
- 11:50Speaker 4: me out a package.
- 11:52Speaker 3: Yeah that would. You have to be in the right
- 11:54Speaker 3: frame of mind basically drunk, right or yeah? Or yeah yeah, yes, yeah,
- 11:59Speaker 3: because I'm with you. I mean, I walk into the bar,
- 12:02Speaker 3: it's loud, it's crowded. Yeah, just trying to get a
- 12:05Speaker 3: drink at the bar is a chore. Yeah, that's I'm
- 12:10Speaker 3: out on that.
- 12:10Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:11Speaker 2: But Mike, I told Mikey this earlier.
- 12:13Speaker 1: As I grow older, you give me a good dive
- 12:15Speaker 1: bar with about six people, one per every four seats,
- 12:18Speaker 1: and I am there.
- 12:19Speaker 4: You know, in a second, there was this.
- 12:23Speaker 3: I was actually when I signed with the Eagles, I
- 12:25Speaker 3: lived up in Northeast Philly and there was a dive
- 12:29Speaker 3: bar that basically you had to duck to get into
- 12:32Speaker 3: and basically held twenty people. It was the best if
- 12:37Speaker 3: so with you, Stu, it was just you just saw
- 12:40Speaker 3: the same people every time. Yes, Oh, it was absolutely
- 12:44Speaker 3: fantastic yep.
- 12:48Speaker 4: Hikes.
- 12:49Speaker 2: Ooh, I think Mike likes a good hike.
- 12:51Speaker 3: I actually like your good hike. I actually like, you know,
- 12:54Speaker 3: being out in Arizona. You go, we walk a lot,
- 12:58Speaker 3: and we have pinnacle peaked out and right behind behind
- 13:01Speaker 3: us that you can hike. So I actually like a
- 13:04Speaker 3: good hike. Not gonna lie.
- 13:06Speaker 2: And I obviously don't.
- 13:08Speaker 3: No, she's Stu. Stu going up the mountain with a
- 13:13Speaker 3: dart hanging out of his.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Very difficult.
- 13:18Speaker 4: Mike might agree with me on this when he might not.
- 13:20Speaker 5: Because Mike spent a lot of time in Connecticut and
- 13:23Speaker 5: his son they live.
- 13:25Speaker 4: In Massachusetts beaches north of Georgia.
- 13:29Speaker 3: You know what, I am not a beach person. I
- 13:33Speaker 3: am not a beach person.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Mike.
- 13:37Speaker 3: My daughter in law, Jenny, who who grew up in Boston.
- 13:40Speaker 3: That's where Jake and Jenny live. She loves the beach,
- 13:43Speaker 3: loves it. I have never been a beach person. I'm
- 13:46Speaker 3: always been a pool person. That questions come up always
- 13:50Speaker 3: on doing a show Pooler beach, I'm always a pool person.
- 13:54Speaker 5: I'm with you, but at least I can see the
- 13:56Speaker 5: merit when it's you know, white sand beaches and you
- 13:59Speaker 5: know the water is, you know, at least somewhat clear.
- 14:02Speaker 3: You go, don't it's all sure? You know what, I
- 14:05Speaker 3: don't like sharks.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Sharks, Yeah, I'm at the aquarium. They're fine, Yes, exactly.
- 14:12Speaker 4: It's the only big worth seeing at the aquarium.
- 14:14Speaker 3: And these where there can be a shark warning, I'm out.
- 14:17Speaker 3: That's the sharks area.
- 14:19Speaker 2: He can have that area with Mike on that, Yes.
- 14:21Speaker 4: All right. Last one for me, cruises.
- 14:25Speaker 3: Oh no, we went on one and like vowed we'd
- 14:31Speaker 3: never go back again ever. Just just there's so many
- 14:35Speaker 3: things about it now. I listen, I get it. People
- 14:38Speaker 3: like them, love, go do your thing. I'm not sitting
- 14:41Speaker 3: here saying they they they suck for me. I'm I
- 14:44Speaker 3: will not go on any more cruises. I do not
- 14:47Speaker 3: like them.
- 14:48Speaker 2: Same. I'm with you on that.
- 14:49Speaker 1: I've been on several with the kids, but I'm with
- 14:53Speaker 1: you Mike in general. How do you feel about the
- 14:55Speaker 1: Super Bowl as a fan?
- 14:56Speaker 2: As a fan? Super Bowl is a fan?
- 14:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm glad you said it's a fan because I
- 15:00Speaker 3: did enjoy working at a couple of years. The only
- 15:03Speaker 3: problem is you have to go into the stadium like
- 15:06Speaker 3: eight hours before the crazy mic, which is horrific. As
- 15:10Speaker 3: a fan, I would not. I am not big into
- 15:13Speaker 3: waiting in.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Lines players of security, right.
- 15:18Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I just know no. As a fan, it's
- 15:21Speaker 3: kind of like the parade for me or anything where
- 15:23Speaker 3: there's a big gathering where you have to wait. You know,
- 15:28Speaker 3: how long it takes you to get there and how
- 15:30Speaker 3: long it takes you to leave is infinitely longer than
- 15:32Speaker 3: the game itself.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Right, So the super Bowl starts just after six o'clock,
- 15:36Speaker 1: usually right somewhere in that neighborhood. It's a full day commitment,
- 15:41Speaker 1: it is. It is, yes, like getting out there and
- 15:43Speaker 1: walking in.
- 15:44Speaker 2: It's you have to like.
- 15:45Speaker 1: So normally you're at home, you're just sitting around, you're
- 15:47Speaker 1: waiting for the game. You're snacking, you're sitting on the couch,
- 15:50Speaker 1: you're doing this, you're doing that, and then the game starts,
- 15:51Speaker 1: you just sit down and watch it. There you start
- 15:54Speaker 1: walking in at one o'clock.
- 15:55Speaker 4: It's crazy.
- 15:56Speaker 3: The thing about at home is I can nap. If
- 16:00Speaker 3: I go to the game, there's nowhere for me to nap.
- 16:03Speaker 1: It's very important to you a place to nap. It's
- 16:09Speaker 1: funny as we get older, just a bed you.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Just shut my eyes for a half hour.
- 16:18Speaker 2: So good, Let's move on to Joe Burrow. Mike, what
- 16:31Speaker 2: did you make it? Joe Burrow's common Joe Burrow played
- 16:34Speaker 2: and won.
- 16:34Speaker 1: A national championship on what I maintained, and I think
- 16:37Speaker 1: you would agree, the greatest most talented college football offense
- 16:42Speaker 1: that I've ever seen, and maybe the most talented team
- 16:45Speaker 1: that I've ever seen.
- 16:46Speaker 2: I can put some UM teams up there.
- 16:48Speaker 1: I can put some There are plenty of teams USC
- 16:51Speaker 1: teams we can put up there.
- 16:54Speaker 2: What was that?
- 16:55Speaker 4: Maybe an Ohio State team or two?
- 16:56Speaker 2: Yeah, of course, yes.
- 16:58Speaker 1: But so Joe Joe Burrow bearing this Bengals team to
- 17:02Speaker 1: his LSU team.
- 17:03Speaker 2: When they won the national championship. What do you make
- 17:06Speaker 2: of that?
- 17:07Speaker 3: Well, I mean, if you look at it, if you
- 17:10Speaker 3: look at that twenty nineteen season, before the season started,
- 17:14Speaker 3: LSU was twenty five to one win the title, and
- 17:18Speaker 3: Cincinnati is twenty to one this year, so the odds
- 17:22Speaker 3: are pretty close to being the same.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Yes, I would say the difference is, Mike, at that time,
- 17:27Speaker 1: we didn't know how good Joe Burrow was that way.
- 17:30Speaker 3: And quite honestly, the offense, I mean, with the receivers
- 17:33Speaker 3: they have. We always talked about their offense. Their offense
- 17:36Speaker 3: is unbelievable and they actually went out Al Golden the
- 17:40Speaker 3: de coordinator has to be one of the happiest guys
- 17:42Speaker 3: out there is they went out to improve the defense.
- 17:46Speaker 3: So you know, you sit there and you look at
- 17:50Speaker 3: the top of the AFC. The Patriots young quarterback got
- 17:55Speaker 3: smoked in the Super Bowl. They'd beat Denver in the
- 17:58Speaker 3: AC title game. Quarterback coming back from injury in that
- 18:02Speaker 3: Mahomes coming off of an injury. Buffalo and Baltimore really
- 18:06Speaker 3: not able to live up the expectations. It's kind of open, right,
- 18:10Speaker 3: and I mean things have to go right for them.
- 18:13Speaker 3: The defense has to play well, but the offense is
- 18:16Speaker 3: absolutely stacked. So I could certainly see him having that vibe.
- 18:20Speaker 3: He had that vibe in nineteen off their stacked offense,
- 18:23Speaker 3: and he has it off the stacked offense now.
- 18:26Speaker 5: Mike he had he had more NFL talent on his
- 18:29Speaker 5: LSU team than he does on his current NFL team.
- 18:33Speaker 5: I mean, if we're just probably yeah, probably probably did, yes.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Yeah, But I think what we're discounting is the rest
- 18:40Speaker 1: of that division.
- 18:41Speaker 2: The Browns aren't good, right, they lose Miles Garrett.
- 18:45Speaker 1: There are questions with the Steelers and a new coach
- 18:47Speaker 1: and McCarthy and Rodgers is up there in Age and
- 18:50Speaker 1: then we have no idea what to expect from the Ravens.
- 18:52Speaker 1: I'm not going to be surprised that the Bengals win
- 18:53Speaker 1: that division.
- 18:54Speaker 3: I am not going to be either. You hit the
- 18:56Speaker 3: nail on the head. Whenever you look at a team
- 18:59Speaker 3: about how far they go, you start with looking at
- 19:01Speaker 3: the division there, and you sit there and talk about
- 19:03Speaker 3: the NFC West, that's a freaking outside of the Cardinals,
- 19:06Speaker 3: I mean, that's a that's an unbelievable division just to
- 19:09Speaker 3: get out of. Yeah, you know between San Francisco, the
- 19:12Speaker 3: Rams and Seattle. But yeah, the AFC North, that's anybody's
- 19:17Speaker 3: ball game, obviously, I think except for Cleveland.
- 19:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:20Speaker 1: We had T Bob filling in on the radio show,
- 19:23Speaker 1: T Bob Abart.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Yes, he's great. I know, you love him. That family
- 19:26Speaker 2: loves you. You love that family love us.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Yeah, But we were talking about the NFC East, and
- 19:32Speaker 1: this is interesting because he doesn't think the Cowboys are
- 19:35Speaker 1: going to be very good, and I was saying, I'm
- 19:36Speaker 1: not going to be surprised.
- 19:37Speaker 2: I think it's such a fascinating division.
- 19:39Speaker 1: From this standpoint, you have Jaden Daniels coming, but they
- 19:42Speaker 1: went to the NFC Championship game with Jayden Daniels as
- 19:45Speaker 1: a rookie. He was hurt last year. Now he comes back.
- 19:47Speaker 1: You have the Giants with Jackson Darton Harbaugh Horbon his
- 19:50Speaker 1: first year as the Giants head coach, and the tanneled team.
- 19:54Speaker 1: And you have the Eagles, and there's questions all over
- 19:56Speaker 1: the Philadelphia Eagles, but without AJ Brown. I think the
- 19:58Speaker 1: Cowboys have done enough, added enough on defense where I
- 20:01Speaker 1: could see them being really, really good.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Mike and T Bob could it?
- 20:06Speaker 3: I don't know if I can either. I don't know
- 20:09Speaker 3: about their running game quite honestly. I know they can
- 20:13Speaker 3: rely on the passing games. I think Pickin's listen has
- 20:16Speaker 3: to play on the on the franchise tag. You know
- 20:18Speaker 3: he's not happy about that, but he ain't turning down
- 20:20Speaker 3: what is it, twenty eight million dollars. You knew he
- 20:23Speaker 3: wasn't going to no player in their right mind?
- 20:25Speaker 2: Is he is saying all the right things though. Yeah.
- 20:28Speaker 3: Yeah, Their wide receiver room is kind of like Cincinnati's
- 20:34Speaker 3: wide receiver room, right, I mean, very talented. But you
- 20:37Speaker 3: question the running game as well, and then like Cincinnati,
- 20:43Speaker 3: you have to see what the new pieces on the
- 20:45Speaker 3: defense are going to do as well. Does it all
- 20:48Speaker 3: come together? Both these teams, Dallas and Cincinnati, it's all
- 20:52Speaker 3: about their defense, right. The offense should be able to
- 20:55Speaker 3: do well, but you can only win so many shootouts
- 20:58Speaker 3: thirty four to thirty one. Defense, it's got to step up.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Yes, Mike, will you be uh?
- 21:04Speaker 1: I gotta be honest. I can't believe I'm saying this.
- 21:06Speaker 1: The World Cup has been great so far.
- 21:09Speaker 3: Really, and a crazy amount of ties.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Right, yes, yes, but a lot of goals, crazy amount
- 21:15Speaker 1: of goals.
- 21:15Speaker 3: See has been I mean scoring a hat trick. I mean,
- 21:18Speaker 3: my god, I mean, dude's unbelievable. But what was it?
- 21:22Speaker 3: Kate Verde had the tie? Yes, I forgot with who?
- 21:27Speaker 3: But yeah, some early surprises but Spain?
- 21:30Speaker 4: Man?
- 21:31Speaker 3: Was it Spain? I'm not even sure.
- 21:35Speaker 2: I'm not sure.
- 21:35Speaker 3: But this is kind of like the NBA playoffs. It
- 21:39Speaker 3: seems like Team USA played a month ago. I know,
- 21:42Speaker 3: let's go, there's forty eight teams in it, so they
- 21:45Speaker 3: all got to work through the round, you know, and
- 21:48Speaker 3: I think as as of today or yesterday, every team
- 21:52Speaker 3: uh finally played Uh and USA plays on Friday. So
- 21:57Speaker 3: that's the one thing obviously after the uh, the opening round,
- 22:01Speaker 3: you know, after that, you know you'll we'll kind of
- 22:03Speaker 3: get the teams down. But you know, I've always been
- 22:06Speaker 3: a casual soccer fan. I basically just watch the World
- 22:09Speaker 3: Cup and it's I love it. I do love watching
- 22:12Speaker 3: a World Cup. And boy, I'll tell you what talk shows,
- 22:15Speaker 3: sports talk shows have to love the fact that it's
- 22:17Speaker 3: a World Cup right now.
- 22:19Speaker 2: Yes, to kill the summer.
- 22:20Speaker 3: You're done talking NBA, You're done talking hockey. Can't really
- 22:24Speaker 3: you're you're making it up talking football right now. Yes,
- 22:27Speaker 3: we just did it, yes, exactly, So so you you
- 22:31Speaker 3: have the World Cup to kind of hang on.
- 22:33Speaker 2: This is what the college football Playoff is going to feel.
- 22:36Speaker 3: Like, Oh god, how how about it? And you know
- 22:40Speaker 3: what we have the we have the Soresby situation to
- 22:43Speaker 3: see he has is what his his pro day on
- 22:47Speaker 3: July tenth, I think, and then the supplemental draft will
- 22:50Speaker 3: be It'll be interesting what what round somebody gives up
- 22:54Speaker 3: to give him.
- 22:55Speaker 2: We'll get you out of here on this note.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Soresby does that because an agent someone has to inquire
- 23:01Speaker 1: to the NFL. Someone's gonna take him, otherwise they stay
- 23:03Speaker 1: at Texas Tech.
- 23:04Speaker 2: Is that fair?
- 23:05Speaker 3: Oh? Yeah, someone will take him. It's just a matter
- 23:08Speaker 3: of For those that don't know the supplemental draft, it's
- 23:12Speaker 3: a blind draw, you kind of you say, I'll take
- 23:16Speaker 3: him in the third round. I'll take him in the
- 23:17Speaker 3: second round. We'll take him in the fourth round. Whatever
- 23:20Speaker 3: team has the highest pick gets them, and then they
- 23:22Speaker 3: lose that subsequent pick next April in the draft.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Yes, you know what Mike was trying to say there, Mikey,
- 23:29Speaker 1: he's a casual soccer fan, but he loves the United
- 23:33Speaker 1: States of America.
- 23:34Speaker 2: Love it.
- 23:34Speaker 3: Listen, and I mean everybody talking out great they played
- 23:38Speaker 3: and Paraguay isn't very good, but hey, you know what
- 23:41Speaker 3: they did what they were supposed to do, right, they
- 23:44Speaker 3: should get out of this group. So let's see, because
- 23:49Speaker 3: we haven't had the men do anything in a long, long, long, long,
- 23:52Speaker 3: long long time.
- 23:53Speaker 1: So yes, I'll trust people if they tell me Paraguay
- 23:55Speaker 1: isn't any good. But you know what the United States did.
- 23:58Speaker 1: They didn't wheeze to a finish. They beat it team
- 24:00Speaker 1: the way they're supposed to beat a team.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Four to one. It's like twenty eight to seven in
- 24:03Speaker 2: football exactly right.
- 24:05Speaker 3: They did exactly what they were supposed to do.
- 24:07Speaker 2: We make shit up about football.
- 24:09Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 24:11Speaker 1: There should be a podcast called that making shit up
- 24:13Speaker 1: about football.
- 24:14Speaker 3: And people are into it. People listen, I mean, people
- 24:17Speaker 3: love talking football.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Guess yes, we're about to leave you and Mark Cockman's
- 24:22Speaker 1: going to join me speaking of making sit up for football,
- 24:25Speaker 1: and we're going to rank the top ten quarterbacks, not
- 24:27Speaker 1: for this season, but next season.
- 24:30Speaker 2: How about that?
- 24:31Speaker 3: You know what? Thank god I won't be here.
- 24:35Speaker 1: A great weekend, enjoy the aquarium.
- 24:39Speaker 3: Yes I will
