- 0:00Speaker 1: The most offensive thing about that wedding, by the way,
- 0:02Speaker 1: was the fact that the two women's wedding dresses were
- 0:04Speaker 1: nearly identical.
- 0:06Speaker 2: One was pants. I notice I looked.
- 0:10Speaker 3: I did not notice that the night were so similar.
- 0:13Speaker 2: I was like, oh, I get a little right here.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Hey, everyone, welcome to you Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark
- 0:34Speaker 1: re You podcast. I'm Megan, I'm Wendy. This episode is

- 0:51Speaker 1: Today we're discussing Wedding every Weekend, which originally aired August fifteenth,
- 0:55Speaker 1: twenty twenty just prior to the launch no podcast. Oh yes,
- 1:01Speaker 1: I think you're gonna say, just prior to the launch
- 1:03Speaker 1: of the pandemic.
- 1:04Speaker 4: No, no, no, deeply pandemic.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Yes, just prior to the launch of our podcast. That's right.
- 1:11Speaker 1: If you want to connect to us outside of the podcast,

- 1:32Speaker 1: Yeah, for anyone who's ever unclear, the girls and the
- 1:34Speaker 1: Girls Gone Homework are us. We're not just only about
- 1:38Speaker 1: girls who are into Hallmark. Yes, I have so much
- 1:41Speaker 1: to say about this movie.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Oh interesting?
- 1:45Speaker 1: Should we start with a synopsis and then listen to
- 1:48Speaker 1: news and notes?
- 1:48Speaker 2: I love it. Let's go. Nate and Brooke are going
- 1:51Speaker 2: to the same four weddings, four weekends in a row.
- 1:55Speaker 2: To avoid setups, they go together as wedding buddies, but
- 1:59Speaker 2: what starts as a friendships soon becomes deeper. Stars Kimberly
- 2:03Speaker 2: Sustad and Paul Campbell.
- 2:05Speaker 1: So this was filmed in June and July twenty twenty,
- 2:08Speaker 1: as mentioned well, not to the pandemic.
- 2:11Speaker 4: The COVID protocols must have.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Been bonkers at this time. They were deep in the
- 2:16Speaker 1: requiring two week hotel quarantines before filming and all of that.
- 2:21Speaker 1: I can only imagine how much they would have had
- 2:23Speaker 1: to do to make this movie regular testing. Can you
- 2:26Speaker 1: imagine and there's like a deep cast. You've got all
- 2:28Speaker 1: these weddings full of people. Okay, so a couple thoughts.
- 2:33Speaker 2: I'm trying to think back to June and July of
- 2:36Speaker 2: twenty twenty. My ass was still sitting on the couch
- 2:39Speaker 2: at home.
- 2:40Speaker 1: I did not think that work was being done anywhere
- 2:44Speaker 1: at this point.
- 2:45Speaker 4: I think because they were filming in Canada.
- 2:48Speaker 1: I think that may have been one of the few
- 2:49Speaker 1: places where filming had resumed that early.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Okay, well, I did read that Canada's still had at
- 2:57Speaker 2: the time, probably like you said, they have probably had
- 3:00Speaker 2: a quarantine, right, they had social distancing rules in place,
- 3:05Speaker 2: temperature checks, all that stuff. I read a funny article now,
- 3:10Speaker 2: side note, did you read this article two about how
- 3:13Speaker 2: they had mannequins.
- 3:14Speaker 4: No is the weddings?
- 3:16Speaker 2: Yes, listen. Paul Campbell told Media Village, which is like
- 3:22Speaker 2: an entertainment outlet, that they were the first production to
- 3:25Speaker 2: film during phase three of the opening, and he said
- 3:29Speaker 2: that everybody wore masks, they sanitized, and some people had
- 3:33Speaker 2: to stay like within their own departments. There was no
- 3:34Speaker 2: like crossing over departments.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Right.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Some interior weddings were moved outdoors and everyone had morning
- 3:41Speaker 2: temperature checks. He added that about fifty percent of the
- 3:44Speaker 2: background performers are actually mannequins.
- 3:48Speaker 1: No way, I need to go back and rewatch this
- 3:53Speaker 1: and look at those wedding scenes when you see from
- 3:56Speaker 1: the back right, like the actual ceremony. Mm hmmm. Did
- 4:01Speaker 1: you read this before after watching the movie. I read
- 4:03Speaker 1: it after I watched the movie.
- 4:05Speaker 3: Oh no, I need to watch it with that in mind.
- 4:08Speaker 2: H that's so funny. It's so funny. Do you think
- 4:12Speaker 2: productions are like, Okay, well we can't have a huge
- 4:16Speaker 2: cast of extras, so let's just get some mannequins from
- 4:20Speaker 2: the local department store.
- 4:22Speaker 1: I don't know, Like when they had fake spectators during
- 4:26Speaker 1: Bakemall games. My god, is that crazy to think that
- 4:31Speaker 1: that was life at that time. There was nobody in
- 4:34Speaker 1: the stand except these cardboard cutouts kind of behind home plates,
- 4:38Speaker 1: and you could pay to have a cardboard cut of yourself, mate,
- 4:42Speaker 1: And they were pumping and like crowd noise into the stadiums. Yeah,
- 4:47Speaker 1: so wide, and the basketball teams had like virtual fans
- 4:52Speaker 1: and so those images would move. Oh I do remember
- 4:55Speaker 1: that it has like a laughing or clapping I did wild.
- 5:00Speaker 1: I sometimes think I need to sit down and write
- 5:03Speaker 1: down everything I remember, because some of it is so
- 5:06Speaker 1: wild to think about when.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Our grandchildren are, like, what happened in twenty twenty?
- 5:11Speaker 1: Look at that cardboard come out behind the Dodgers. That's
- 5:14Speaker 1: how baseball happened in twenty twenty.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Wow, so weird. For those who haven't watched the movie,
- 5:22Speaker 2: go back and watch it and look for.
- 5:24Speaker 1: The mannekins mannequins in mind.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Okay.
- 5:28Speaker 1: This was written by Julie Sherman Wolf, who has thirty
- 5:30Speaker 1: three writing credits. And if you don't know who Julie
- 5:32Speaker 1: Sherman Wolf is, yeah you do. She wrote a holiday spectacular,
- 5:37Speaker 1: Dickens of a holiday, You Me and the Christmas Trees taking.
- 5:40Speaker 4: A shot at love. Hona khan Rye always a more and.
- 5:43Speaker 1: She has the distinction of being the one and only
- 5:47Speaker 1: interview we have done to date on Girls Gone Hallmark YEP.
- 5:50Speaker 1: And you know what, she was so good. We're like, eh,
- 5:52Speaker 1: we've piked, We're not gonna do this anymore. It's a
- 5:55Speaker 1: great episode. You should go back and give it a listen.
- 5:57Speaker 1: And she did us the great kindness of a having
- 6:01Speaker 1: listened to an episode we did about a movie she did,
- 6:03Speaker 1: and then answering some of our did you see that question?
- 6:05Speaker 2: Mm hmmm, Yeah, she was awesome. I want to also
- 6:09Speaker 2: note that, according to her IMDb, she has a upcoming
- 6:14Speaker 2: movie called field Day in the works. It's not exactly
- 6:19Speaker 2: clear if it's an Hallmark movie, but it is directed
- 6:22Speaker 2: by David Winning, who has directed a bunch of Hallmark movies,
- 6:26Speaker 2: and it stars some familiar Hallwark faces. So I'm guessing
- 6:31Speaker 2: phield Day. Maybe it's gonna come out summertime.
- 6:34Speaker 4: Could be.
- 6:35Speaker 2: This was directed by Kevin Fair, who has directed forty movies,
- 6:38Speaker 2: including Morning Show Mysteries, We Need a Little Christmas Always
- 6:42Speaker 2: Some More, and Soccer Mom Madam. I always love it
- 6:49Speaker 2: when it's like Hallmark Hallmark homwork and then there's like
- 6:51Speaker 2: a lifetime in there.
- 6:53Speaker 4: Yeah, they go a little dark.
- 6:54Speaker 2: But Soccer Mom Madam, it has Jana Kramer in it.
- 6:59Speaker 2: I'm like, I might have to for it. Kind of
- 7:01Speaker 2: would be into watching it.
- 7:02Speaker 1: This movie stars Kimberly Sastad. She's a busy little bee.
- 7:05Speaker 1: She has starred in Game of Love, had a role
- 7:09Speaker 1: in Three Wise Men, and a Baby Lights Camera, Christmas,
- 7:12Speaker 1: North to Home. Nine Kittens of Christmas is also in
- 7:15Speaker 1: the process of co writing a movie with her co
- 7:18Speaker 1: star Paul Campbell.
- 7:19Speaker 2: How do you know that because she did an interview
- 7:23Speaker 2: exciting Paul Campbell plays Nate or Edgar. We last saw
- 7:28Speaker 2: him in the Cases of Mystery Lane. I poked around IMDb.
- 7:32Speaker 2: There's no new upcoming projects listed there, but that doesn't
- 7:36Speaker 2: mean anything. I'm hoping we see like a summer fall
- 7:39Speaker 2: or holiday movie from mister Paul Campbell or another Cases
- 7:43Speaker 2: of Mystery Lane. I would be happy with too.
- 7:45Speaker 4: That was a great role for him.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Brandy Alexander plays best friend Jinny. Haven't seen Brandy in
- 7:50Speaker 2: a homework movie, so it's twenty twenty one's Right in
- 7:52Speaker 2: front of Me, which was also written by Julie Sherman Wolff.
- 7:56Speaker 1: I kind of had a feeling like she was a
- 7:59Speaker 1: big play on Hallwork.
- 8:00Speaker 2: And then she kind of just disappeared. I haven't seen
- 8:02Speaker 2: her in anything.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Peter Benson plays Doctor Colin. He has one hundred and
- 8:07Speaker 1: fifty acting credits, but in the past couple of years
- 8:09Speaker 1: has really been getting more in on the directing game,
- 8:11Speaker 1: with fourteen directing credits, most recently The Professional Bridesmaid. He
- 8:15Speaker 1: also directed the one wedding the only movie that Terry
- 8:18Speaker 1: Ingram was not available for.
- 8:20Speaker 4: He really gets as Girls Gone.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Hallmark correspondent Mike sent us an email, as he often does,
- 8:28Speaker 1: and he's truly his memory. He's like a vault for
- 8:32Speaker 1: all of this Hallmark slash Hollywood information. He says that
- 8:39Speaker 1: he calls Peter Benson part of the Hallmark Ralph Bellamy club.
- 8:43Speaker 1: I'm just gonna read what he writes here, he says,
- 8:44Speaker 1: which is to say that he's one of the guys
- 8:46Speaker 1: that always seems to lose his girlfriend to the hero whichever.
- 8:49Speaker 4: Movies he's in.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Ralph Belly was in a lot of movies in the
- 8:52Speaker 1: thirties and forties, and he was the schlub that lost
- 8:54Speaker 1: his girl to the male leads so often that it
- 8:56Speaker 1: became a joke in Hollywood even then. I have no
- 9:00Speaker 1: idea who Ralph Bellamy is. None never even heard that name.
- 9:03Speaker 1: I thought he was talking about Bill Bellamy.
- 9:06Speaker 2: That's what I was thinking of. Bill Bellamy is The
- 9:10Speaker 2: name's familiar. He first gained national notoriety on HBO's Russell
- 9:15Speaker 2: Simmons Deaf comedy Jam Oh. He's credited for creating the
- 9:20Speaker 2: phrase booty call Okay. He was an MTVBJ for a
- 9:25Speaker 2: long time.
- 9:27Speaker 1: One more regular Hallmark player is Jeff Gustafson, who plays
- 9:31Speaker 1: best friend Danny. Has eighty nine acting credits, including Get
- 9:34Speaker 1: Out Your Girls Gone, Hallmark Bingo cards, a role as
- 9:37Speaker 1: the dwarf Stealthy on Once Upon a Time.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Oh, that's his show. I did not watch. He has
- 9:43Speaker 2: a very familiar face. Yes, I know he's been in
- 9:46Speaker 2: a ton of stuff. Let's do first impressions. My first
- 9:48Speaker 2: impression is you might call me a Campbell cested stan.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Mine is no one told me Paul Campbell was gonna
- 9:57Speaker 1: make me cry?
- 9:58Speaker 2: What cry?
- 10:00Speaker 1: Win? Well, they have that moment at the final wedding
- 10:04Speaker 1: when they're not saying the things that he didn't see,
- 10:07Speaker 1: and then when they finally get back together and he
- 10:10Speaker 1: like puts his hand over his heart.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Paul Campbell. Yeah, okay, oh no, I didn't cry. Tell
- 10:17Speaker 2: me what you liked about this movie.
- 10:19Speaker 1: If I could have only one, okay, if I could
- 10:21Speaker 1: have only one like it would be the hairtuck at
- 10:25Speaker 1: the football field.
- 10:26Speaker 2: He hurts this, Oh my god, when they were gonna
- 10:29Speaker 2: they were like faking it for their friends, but it
- 10:32Speaker 2: was real faking it. Oh yeah, that was a good scene.
- 10:36Speaker 2: That was a really good scene. What is what the hairtuck? Lately?
- 10:40Speaker 1: Look?
- 10:40Speaker 2: It's so easy for dudes a hairtuck. Guys, that's all
- 10:43Speaker 2: you gotta do. Forget the flowers, dude, get so wining and.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Dining one tiny just brushing the bangs out of somebody's
- 10:52Speaker 1: eyes is all you have to do.
- 10:54Speaker 4: That's it.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Is that truly the only thing you liked about this movie? No?
- 10:58Speaker 4: No, no?
- 10:58Speaker 2: Oh, okay, okay. There are some movies that I know
- 11:01Speaker 2: I'm going to like going into it, and it's either
- 11:04Speaker 2: because the actors or the writers, and then luckily this
- 11:08Speaker 2: movie has both of those. That's at all.
- 11:10Speaker 1: There's so many things to pull out about this movie.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Kimberly Sustad's dead pan humor kills it in this movie,
- 11:17Speaker 1: like when she looks at Nate's attempt to kt tape
- 11:20Speaker 1: his own knee and goes nailed it.
- 11:21Speaker 3: I just, oh my god, it's amazing.
- 11:25Speaker 2: I'm telling you. She reminds me so much a Bonnie Hunt.
- 11:27Speaker 2: I can't shake it every time I see her on screen.
- 11:30Speaker 2: I enjoyed the zingers that they gave each other, especially
- 11:34Speaker 2: when it came to his bumknee because he was being
- 11:36Speaker 2: so stubborn about it. I like that Brooke broke things.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Off with her boyfriend because it just wasn't working out,
- 11:42Speaker 1: and that Colin wasn't a factor.
- 11:45Speaker 2: In the whole. Maybe will they won't? They with meate
- 11:49Speaker 2: And I think that scene was really funny too when
- 11:51Speaker 2: they were breaking up. They're sitting at the table and
- 11:54Speaker 2: she's like, we need to talk and he goes us too,
- 11:55Speaker 2: and then she like fully is She's like, we need
- 11:57Speaker 2: to break up. But he didn't see it coming.
- 11:58Speaker 4: Yeah, he was talking about pizza.
- 12:00Speaker 2: That was great.
- 12:00Speaker 1: They got that out of the way early. And I
- 12:02Speaker 1: loved her patient Mary when Brook's like, you need to stop,
- 12:05Speaker 1: you know, I'm with doctor Colin and Mary's like, mmm,
- 12:08Speaker 1: I know, Love Mary. I think registering of the hardware
- 12:12Speaker 1: store is actually a great idea.
- 12:13Speaker 2: I think lots of people do that. Now.
- 12:15Speaker 4: Does home people have a registry?
- 12:16Speaker 2: Yes they do.
- 12:17Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a great idea.
- 12:19Speaker 1: We have used our little power drill time.
- 12:21Speaker 4: And time again.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Yeah, far more than I ever used an ice cream maker. Hey,
- 12:25Speaker 1: if there's anybody out there listening to.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Us who is registering for a wedding, definitely hit the
- 12:32Speaker 2: hardware store. Yes, skip the ice cream maker. Yes, keep
- 12:35Speaker 2: her ice cream maker, skip the breadmaker. You've been to
- 12:38Speaker 2: the grocery store before.
- 12:41Speaker 1: You're not going to make all those things, we promise
- 12:44Speaker 1: you if you don't currently make them. Being married is
- 12:47Speaker 1: not going to turn you into a homesteader.
- 12:49Speaker 2: No, no, no no.
- 12:50Speaker 1: I loved every dress that she wore to the weddings. Yes,
- 12:54Speaker 1: I loved her wedding wardrobe. And they varied her style
- 12:58Speaker 1: throughout the wedding and then we get the big payoff.
- 13:02Speaker 1: I thought her braidesmaid dress was beautiful.
- 13:04Speaker 4: Actually I did too.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Oh. I didn't like the combo wedding colors pink and
- 13:09Speaker 1: then the deep red of the roses. Oh.
- 13:11Speaker 2: I noticed that too. I was like, what is that?
- 13:14Speaker 2: That doesn't go together? That wasn't a fan I have
- 13:16Speaker 2: something about that? And I did just see that. Okay,
- 13:19Speaker 2: there is lots of diversity in this movie. And yeah,
- 13:21Speaker 2: it talks about that in a long time now.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Remember we used to talk about like diversity check. Yes,
- 13:28Speaker 1: there was a ton in this movie. So I was
- 13:30Speaker 1: surprised by that only because I wasn't expecting it.
- 13:33Speaker 4: I kind of feel like that's.
- 13:35Speaker 1: A very recent move on.
- 13:37Speaker 4: Behalf of Hallmark. And I did take.
- 13:39Speaker 1: A look at the Wedding every Weekend hashtag, and there's
- 13:45Speaker 1: a tweet from Paul Campbell, and let me tell you,
- 13:46Speaker 1: Paul Campbell walks the walk in terms of like being
- 13:50Speaker 1: a representative and being in favor of diversity. He tweeted
- 13:54Speaker 1: Wedding every Weekend was the most watched Summer night's premiere
- 13:57Speaker 1: of twenty twenty on the Hallmark Channel. Thank you to
- 14:00Speaker 1: everyone who came out in support.
- 14:02Speaker 4: Love Wins.
- 14:04Speaker 1: And Alonzo Doralde, who often appears on Deck the Hallmark
- 14:08Speaker 1: but does a movie reviewer in his own right and
- 14:09Speaker 1: does its own thing tweeted Wedding every Weekend proves it
- 14:13Speaker 1: doesn't have to be an either or. Hallmark Channel can
- 14:17Speaker 1: do the thing that it does, and it can do
- 14:19Speaker 1: so in a way that reflects the world as it exists.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Bravo.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Can I talk about something that doesn't really have a
- 14:26Speaker 1: place in any of our categories, but I need to
- 14:28Speaker 1: talk about it, okay? And that is I have decided
- 14:32Speaker 1: I am going to change the way I feel about
- 14:37Speaker 1: negative reviews about Hallmark movies from the woke police, Okay,
- 14:42Speaker 1: go on, And that is I am simply going to
- 14:45Speaker 1: find them humorous because there is absolutely no way to
- 14:49Speaker 1: take someone seriously who looks at a movie titles a
- 14:53Speaker 1: review Welcome to Wokeland, and do anything other than laugh
- 14:57Speaker 1: at it.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Wait, is there an IMDb review for this movie with
- 15:01Speaker 2: that title?
- 15:02Speaker 1: Indeed, there is no. You're a joke of a human
- 15:06Speaker 1: if that is your attitude. Now, there were a lot
- 15:08Speaker 1: of great reviews of this movie, a lot of them,
- 15:10Speaker 1: but there were a lot of one star reviews that
- 15:13Speaker 1: were like, I had to turn this movie off. What
- 15:16Speaker 1: can I do but laugh at that opinion that you're
- 15:19Speaker 1: so threatened by the idea of two women kissing on television,
- 15:24Speaker 1: even further threatened that you're going to open up your
- 15:26Speaker 1: computer and your little review and let everybody know how
- 15:31Speaker 1: threatened you are by two people who are in love
- 15:35Speaker 1: getting married.
- 15:36Speaker 4: And the most.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Offensive thing about that wedding, by the way, was the
- 15:39Speaker 1: fact that the two women's wedding dresses were nearly identical.
- 15:43Speaker 2: One was pants. I notice, I looked.
- 15:46Speaker 3: I did not notice that the nimes were so similar.
- 15:50Speaker 1: I was like, oh, I get a little right to
- 15:52Speaker 1: hear people welcome to wokeland.
- 15:54Speaker 4: Wow, Wow, can't take you seriously? I want to talk
- 15:59Speaker 4: about what we wished for.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Okay, go ahead, well do do do do.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Avoidable misunderstanding alert. It's really the only thing I didn't
- 16:07Speaker 1: like about this movie. Yeah, I don't know where the
- 16:09Speaker 1: conflict could have come from. Sometimes I workshop that in
- 16:12Speaker 1: my mind, like we could have had a better conflict.
- 16:14Speaker 3: What I didn't need that.
- 16:17Speaker 1: I was like, Yeah, Paul Campbell, Kimberly's hus dad, I'm
- 16:19Speaker 1: rooting for your two people.
- 16:21Speaker 2: But you just got in your own way, like she got.
- 16:24Speaker 1: In her own way in that moment.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Yeah, she like freaked out before she heard the full conversation.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Stick around, he kept talking. Yeah, I agree.
- 16:32Speaker 1: I don't know about you, but when I hear someone
- 16:34Speaker 1: having a conversation like that, like we've got unspoken feelings
- 16:38Speaker 1: for each other, I'm gonna stick around and hear everything.
- 16:41Speaker 2: He has to say.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Me too, I can hear the conversation. I am standing
- 16:44Speaker 1: there until it's over or I get caught. I agree. Okay,
- 16:50Speaker 1: here's one thing I wished for. I didn't love that
- 16:53Speaker 1: Nate sold her car on her behalf. Now technically he
- 16:57Speaker 1: didn't sell it, but he saw that she was in
- 17:00Speaker 1: this financial bind over the roof, right, and he takes
- 17:04Speaker 1: it upon himself to call the dude that was interested
- 17:06Speaker 1: in like maybe buying the car, And I'm like, no, sir,
- 17:09Speaker 1: just relay that information to her that somebody was interested.
- 17:13Speaker 1: You don't need to call the guy to arrange him
- 17:16Speaker 1: to come see it and then be like, hey, yeah.
- 17:17Speaker 2: Solve your problem.
- 17:19Speaker 4: I hear you.
- 17:21Speaker 1: I thought that could have very easily gone in a
- 17:24Speaker 1: bad direction. But he immediately tells her like, if you
- 17:27Speaker 1: want to sell it, there.
- 17:28Speaker 2: Is a buyer.
- 17:29Speaker 1: I felt like I didn't mind that he took that
- 17:31Speaker 1: off that her plate, you know, like I feel like
- 17:35Speaker 1: the order of operations was wrong.
- 17:37Speaker 4: Okay, fair enough, Okay.
- 17:39Speaker 1: I'm so confused by Brooks loan situation because at one
- 17:43Speaker 1: point she's writing a check to the bank. Yes why,
- 17:47Speaker 1: I don't know. And then I don't know. She says like,
- 17:50Speaker 1: I'm using my loan money for the roof, but as
- 17:53Speaker 1: far as I know, she hasn't actually got a loan.
- 17:55Speaker 1: And she talks about how she has a rainy day savings.
- 17:59Speaker 1: Do you do you have a savings or are you
- 18:01Speaker 1: getting alone? Why are you writing a check? I don't understand.
- 18:04Speaker 4: What's happening here.
- 18:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I just let that all like slide. At one point,
- 18:09Speaker 2: Nate and Brooker they are talking about how they know
- 18:11Speaker 2: Ginny and Ginny's fiance which his name escapes me right now. Yeah,
- 18:15Speaker 2: And when Nate says he went to college with him,
- 18:18Speaker 2: she says trade school, and he corrects her with like
- 18:22Speaker 2: maybe he says Harvard or some okay, something somewhere prestigious, right, huh.
- 18:28Speaker 2: And as someone whose family business is built on trade school,
- 18:32Speaker 2: I was like, there's nothing wrong with trade school here,
- 18:35Speaker 2: Like I just felt like there was a little bit
- 18:37Speaker 2: of like, yeah, he had to have the added value
- 18:39Speaker 2: of having gone to a prestigious university while also now
- 18:42Speaker 2: working in the biz. Yes, yes, and let me just
- 18:47Speaker 2: step on my soapbox here. Trade school is not bad.
- 18:52Speaker 2: There's a lot of trades out there that make lots
- 18:54Speaker 2: of money.
- 18:55Speaker 4: Yeah, and we need them.
- 18:57Speaker 1: Yes. Do you like living in a home with plumbing
- 19:00Speaker 1: and electricity and having a car that run exactly?
- 19:03Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 19:04Speaker 1: I just wanted to say I wrote this wish before
- 19:07Speaker 1: we got to the end, but I wrote get off
- 19:08Speaker 1: your classic parts high Horse Meet.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, yea yea yeah.
- 19:11Speaker 1: I understand the commitment to the bit, but also as
- 19:15Speaker 1: time goes on, eventually you're gonna run out of original parts, Like.
- 19:19Speaker 4: You need to think a little bit with a business mine.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Yeah, so my dad rebuilds cars, and he has a
- 19:26Speaker 2: couple of old cars that look like old cars, but
- 19:29Speaker 2: they're fully built with new parts on the inside.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Yeah, where they start the odometer at zero again, because
- 19:35Speaker 1: oh yeah, everything's new. You know what I really wanted
- 19:40Speaker 1: when I got married and they got into her car,
- 19:44Speaker 1: I wanted her to open the glove compartment and have
- 19:46Speaker 1: like a pile of those blue hard candies spill out everywhere.
- 19:51Speaker 2: That would have been cute.
- 19:52Speaker 4: Yeah, it would have been.
- 19:53Speaker 2: Let's get Julie on the phone for the next one.
- 19:57Speaker 4: Did you see that?
- 19:59Speaker 2: I have a couple me too.
- 20:00Speaker 1: The roof repair guy, mm hmm. First of all, it
- 20:03Speaker 1: comes over when it's pouring rain. That's never gonna happen
- 20:05Speaker 1: because they need to see the roof. Does this guy
- 20:07Speaker 1: see the roof? No, he stands inside her house, looks
- 20:10Speaker 1: up at the drip, and he's like, yeah, that's gonna
- 20:11Speaker 1: be an extensive roof for pair.
- 20:12Speaker 2: How the hell do you know?
- 20:13Speaker 1: You know, you even see the roof or inside of
- 20:16Speaker 1: what's happening. And as a person who is no stranger
- 20:20Speaker 1: to water damage in my home, they don't just leave,
- 20:22Speaker 1: like you gotta start drying that out, or you're gonna
- 20:25Speaker 1: have a house full of gold.
- 20:26Speaker 2: She's like, right, thanks, I'll think about it.
- 20:28Speaker 4: Just gonna put this pan here and hope for the best. Yeah.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Yeah, that was funny when she came home and like
- 20:34Speaker 1: the roof had fully like a drywall clad. They did that,
- 20:38Speaker 1: and because obviously something's gonna happen.
- 20:41Speaker 2: If you don't do anything, it doesn't just go away. Okay.
- 20:44Speaker 2: So when Nate comes.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Into physical therapy for the first time in sees Brook
- 20:48Speaker 1: since they were met each other while they were registering
- 20:52Speaker 1: for gifts, m M, she jokes about the n espresso
- 20:55Speaker 1: and then gives a nod to it, and when they
- 20:57Speaker 1: show it, it's a cure eg she says, spread.
- 21:00Speaker 4: So I think she says espresso.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Oh, I think you're right, but what arig is not
- 21:04Speaker 1: an espresso machine. You are correct, You're correct about that,
- 21:07Speaker 1: because as I'm saying these words, I was like, you
- 21:09Speaker 1: wouldn't say an.
- 21:10Speaker 2: Espresso on here.
- 21:11Speaker 1: No. And in fact, in the first scene when they're
- 21:13Speaker 1: in that store looking at the espresso machines, there is
- 21:17Speaker 1: at least one of them, and is an actual an
- 21:19Speaker 1: espresso that they've blocked out the right of it. So
- 21:23Speaker 1: ye es, yeah, but it was funny. I was like, uh,
- 21:26Speaker 1: that's a cure rig but yes, yes, okay. And then
- 21:30Speaker 1: who goes in on a wedding gift together?
- 21:34Speaker 2: Hear me out?
- 21:35Speaker 1: Because you and I have both planned a wedding, right,
- 21:37Speaker 1: uh huh? And of course, like, you don't expect gifts
- 21:40Speaker 1: from people, but you pay X amount of dollars per
- 21:44Speaker 1: person who comes to your wedding, right, don't you expect
- 21:47Speaker 1: a gift that's comparable sort of in price? No, I
- 21:52Speaker 1: don't expect a gift. How get it?
- 21:54Speaker 2: How? No? I really don't.
- 21:56Speaker 4: I really don't.
- 21:57Speaker 2: This is the truth.
- 21:58Speaker 1: Uh.
- 21:59Speaker 2: I think there's got to be some Emily Post nonsense
- 22:02Speaker 2: about this.
- 22:03Speaker 1: Here's what I think. That everybody has the amount of
- 22:05Speaker 1: money that they're willing to spend on the weddings they attend. Right,
- 22:08Speaker 1: it's fifty dollars, it's one hundred dollars, it's whatever it is.
- 22:11Speaker 1: If they went in on the gift, what I hope
- 22:13Speaker 1: is that they both ended up spending what they would
- 22:15Speaker 1: have spent individually, and they just bought one nicer gift
- 22:18Speaker 1: for the couple. I think they got a four piece
- 22:20Speaker 1: glass set.
- 22:21Speaker 4: Okay.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Well, I was like that's not cool.
- 22:24Speaker 1: You don't do it as a money saving they're not
- 22:27Speaker 1: a couple, but they were not invited together.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Hey, I want to talk about Jenny's wedding for a second.
- 22:32Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:32Speaker 2: First you mentioned that the color scheme was all wrong,
- 22:35Speaker 2: and I agree. They're wearing like beautiful, like lavender color dresses, right,
- 22:40Speaker 2: but then they have those like terrible burgundy flowers behind them.
- 22:44Speaker 4: You deep red. I didn't love it.
- 22:45Speaker 2: It did not go together at all. When brook is
- 22:50Speaker 2: walking down the aisle at Jenny's wedding and me standing like,
- 22:54Speaker 2: you know, with the other grouvesmen, she just hit the
- 22:56Speaker 2: dirtiest look, oh does she? It was fantastic stick. And
- 23:00Speaker 2: then at the end of the wedding everybody is saying goodbye.
- 23:03Speaker 2: We're talking about Genny's wedding here and there are full
- 23:06Speaker 2: bottles of wine and unopen champagne on the table.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Yeah, take it with you. Well, I just think like
- 23:13Speaker 1: they shot the scene before, like well, first of all,
- 23:17Speaker 1: since it was like COVID, they probably weren't actually like
- 23:21Speaker 1: drinking anything during these scenes. Those mannequins they can't put
- 23:25Speaker 1: their hands to their mouths.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Who knows.
- 23:27Speaker 1: People were like real crazy about all kinds of stuff.
- 23:31Speaker 1: At that time, there were kids who were not turning
- 23:33Speaker 1: in papers at school because oh I could be allowed
- 23:37Speaker 1: to collect physical papers from his students.
- 23:40Speaker 2: That was a wild time. Anyway, That's all I have.
- 23:43Speaker 1: I would just like to point out the photoshop, which
- 23:45Speaker 1: correspondent Mike also pointed out. Yes, Nate shows the photo
- 23:49Speaker 1: of his dad and like you don't even have to
- 23:51Speaker 1: be watching that closely to be like, well.
- 23:53Speaker 2: They just put those two photos together. Yeah, yeah, I
- 23:56Speaker 2: mean at least turn it black and white, you know,
- 23:58Speaker 2: like not my.
- 23:59Speaker 4: Whole Yeah, good point, good point.
- 24:02Speaker 2: What'd you rate this movie?
- 24:03Speaker 4: Four stars?
- 24:04Speaker 2: Me too?
- 24:05Speaker 4: Yeah, great movie.
- 24:06Speaker 2: I thought it was really good.
