- Lucas: Luna, ready for another Norwegian episode? We've covered so many verbs — 'å glemme', 'å huske', 'å bli', 'å plukke'... Luna: I'm ready. I've been practicing 'å plukke' — I plukket epler last weekend. Lucas: Nice. Today we have another useful one: 'å hente'. It means 'to fetch' or 'to get' something. Like when you go get water or pick up a package. Luna: Å hente. Okay. Can you say it slowly? Lucas: Å hente. Listen again: 'hente'. It's a verb like all the others. In present tense: 'jeg henter' — I fetch. Luna: Jeg henter. I fetch. Got it. Lucas: Let's try a question: 'henter du?' — do you fetch? Or 'are you getting?'. Luna: Henter du? That sounds like 'henter du vann?' — are you getting water? Lucas: Exactly. 'Hente vann' is a common phrase. Or 'hente en pakke' — fetch a package. Luna: Oh, I need to 'hente en pakke' today. My new book arrived. Lucas: Perfect real-life example. So you could say: 'Jeg skal hente en pakke' — I'm going to fetch a package. Luna: Jeg skal hente en pakke. That's good. Lucas: If Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with Norwegian, you know these episodes stay ad-free because of listener support. If today was useful, you can buy me a coffee at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. It helps us keep going. Luna: Yeah, it's a small way to say thanks. And we really appreciate it. Okay, back to 'hente'. What about 'hente noen' — to pick someone up? Lucas: Yes! 'Hente noen' means to go get someone, like picking them up at the airport. 'Jeg henter deg' — I'll get you. Luna: Jeg henter deg. That's sweet. 'Kan du hente meg?' — can you pick me up? Lucas: Perfect. 'Kan du hente meg?' is very common. Let's practice all the phrases: 'å hente', 'jeg henter', 'henter du?', 'hente vann', 'hente en pakke', 'hente noen'. Luna: Okay, let me try. Å hente. Jeg henter vann. Henter du en pakke? Jeg henter deg. Lucas: You're a natural. One more: 'hente' in past tense — 'hentet'. 'Jeg hentet vann' — I fetched water. Luna: Jeg hentet vann. So it's regular. Good to know. Lucas: Now let's do a little scene. Imagine you're at work and a colleague asks: 'Kan du hente kaffen?' — can you get the coffee? Luna: Ja, jeg henter kaffen. Easy. Lucas: Or if you're at home: 'Henter du posten?' — are you getting the mail? Luna: Jeg henter posten. I'll remember that. Lucas: Great. So today we learned 'å hente'. It's a handy verb for everyday life. Practice saying: 'Jeg henter vann', 'Henter du en pakke?', 'Jeg henter deg'. Luna: Takk, Lucas. I feel more confident with 'hente' now. See you next time! Lucas: Ha det bra, Luna. And listeners, keep practicing. Vi snakkes!
