- 0:24SPEAKER_00: We're doing a short series on New Year's goals for writers in 2023.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: Yesterday I mentioned the first goal, which is writing a book this year, and today I want to challenge you with a tool that will help you to get there, and that is joining a great writing group.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: Now let's be honest, writers are by nature solitary creatures.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: Most of us would rather spend hours in our room alone working on content and stories that lives in our head rather than get out and interacting with real human beings.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: You know, some of us honestly prefer to spend more time with fictional characters than we do spending time with real humans.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: And I'm an introvert, so I understand the tendency to do this.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: I really do.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: I mean, after all, I'm the guy who considers a quote unquote wild New Year's Eve party, unquote, to be ordering from DoorDash and staying up till 12.05 a.m.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: You know, that to me is a wild New Year's Eve party.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: That being said, I have also learned that you're not going to get very far in life if you only depend on yourself.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: And one of the best decisions that I've ever made was to get involved in various mastermind groups, business groups, and writing groups over the last few years.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: And it really is no exaggeration to say that those things have changed my life.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Back in the fall of 2020, in the middle of the pandemic, when so many people were trying to find their way forward, I was wondering about the best ways that I could help writers.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: So I started this podcast and the Daily Writer Club that November.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: Both of those have been really successful, and it's been a blast to see how the Daily Writer Club in particular has helped writers to collaborate, to get clear on their goals, to write books, and make more money in their writing business.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: So I want to invite you to check out the Daily Writer Club by visiting DailyWriterClub.com.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: You can give it a try for two weeks at absolutely no cost.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: And even if you don't join the Daily Writer Club, I want you to consider at least getting together with a couple of writer friends once every week or two to talk about your writing and your goals.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: Even if you only do that, it makes a huge difference.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: It really does.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: So let me be really, really clear.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: I don't want you to walk away from this episode, not really getting my point.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: And I don't, I tend to not be a person who emphasizes the same thing over and over and over again.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: You know, I'm not like a lecturer, but in this case, I want to make sure and drive home my point really, really clearly.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: And that is you're not going to be successful if you try to do this alone.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: You really need a team of supportive writers who have your back.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: And your writing goals and your writing success is not going to happen by magic.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: So I want you to take the initiative to check out the Daily Writer Club.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: Or if you don't do that, invite a couple of friends to form your own writing group and get together on a regular basis, either on Zoom, you know, if you don't all live next to each other, or if you live in the same town, just get together for coffee once every couple weeks.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: And I promise you that when you do that, it's going to give you a lot more motivation, ideas, and creative energy than you would ever have on your own.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: So here's today's challenge.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: Check out the Daily Writer Club at dailywriterclub.com or ask another writer friend or two to meet on a regular basis to talk about your writing and your goals.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: Thanks for listening, and I'll see you tomorrow.
