SPEAKER_02: Hi, and welcome to this episode of Sass and Sip, the podcast where we drink and we dish and we watch and we rewatch and we sip and we sazz.
• 0:19
SPEAKER_02: And today's episode is about episode 10, the new person of the hit show Six Feet Under, season one.
• 0:30
  SPEAKER_02: We are your hosts.
• 0:31
  SPEAKER_02: I'm Lisa.
• 0:32
  SPEAKER_00: I'm Brittany.
• 0:33
SPEAKER_02: And welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome.
• 0:37
  SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
• 0:38
  SPEAKER_02: I think I was stuck.
• 0:39
SPEAKER_02: Um, what are you drinking tonight?
• 0:43
SPEAKER_00: I'm actually only drinking water, but in spirit, I am drinking wine with you.
• 0:49
SPEAKER_00: I I was like I was saying on the pre-show, I was severely drained last week.
• 0:55
SPEAKER_00: Um, I'm a teacher, I had parent teacher conferences Friday night after work.
• 1:00
SPEAKER_00: I had conferences three days in a row, evening conferences.
• 1:03
SPEAKER_00: Don't live close enough to the school to go home and then come back.
• 1:07
SPEAKER_00: So I was doing like 13-hour days.
• 1:10
SPEAKER_00: Um, and then also just like having to deal with like eight-year-olds with drippy noses, and like I got one.
• 1:16
SPEAKER_00: I got a nine-year-old with yeah, so you can only imagine, but like I have 50 of them.
• 1:22
SPEAKER_00: So yeah, so it was it was a thing.
• 1:25
SPEAKER_00: And then Friday when I got back, like home, I was so severely dehydrated.
• 1:33
SPEAKER_00: I was thinking back on urgent care, and I'm like, no, I can't.
• 1:36
SPEAKER_00: Like, I couldn't remember the last time I drank water.
• 1:38
SPEAKER_00: I only drank coffee, I wasn't really eating anything because I didn't have lunch or like prep or anything.
• 1:44
SPEAKER_00: And I ended up having Jeff go out to CBS and get me like a couple bottles of pediolite.
• 1:52
SPEAKER_00: And I kind of just like drank a bottle of petiolite, took a shower, and then laid in bed, drank the other bottle of petiolite, and passed out.
• 2:00
SPEAKER_00: And then I woke up the next morning that was feeling okay and swore off coffee for a little bit.
• 2:07
SPEAKER_00: And so now I'm working on, I'm like day two working on no coffee.
• 2:11
SPEAKER_00: I still feel dehydrated, but not as much as Friday.
• 2:14
SPEAKER_00: And so I told myself, like, look, like Thanksgiving's coming up in just a couple of days, and I'll probably drink one over Thanksgiving.
• 2:22
SPEAKER_00: But in the meantime, like, no wine, nothing, just water.
• 2:26
SPEAKER_00: But I do feel delirious, so it uh it's as if I am tipsy recording this.
• 2:34
SPEAKER_02: Well, you know, the last time that we recorded, because I was like not eating because of my mouth, but I had that one big glass of wine.
• 2:42
SPEAKER_02: Yes, I was like so drunk off of that one glass, yeah.
• 2:46
SPEAKER_02: And it and it wasn't because I had like I had just hadn't eaten that day, it was like the culmination of all those days without eating.
• 2:55
SPEAKER_02: Oh no, yeah, but look, it made for a cheap date, or or at least a cheap buzz, I guess, because afterwards I knocked the fuck out, and then in the morning I was like, oh my god.
• 3:08
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I was gonna say you probably had like the best sleep, but like the worst next day.
• 3:13
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I had a pretty bad headache, but whatever, it's over.
• 3:19
SPEAKER_02: But yeah, I have I have white wine today because switching it up.
• 3:25
  SPEAKER_02: That's that's what I found, yeah.
• 3:27
  SPEAKER_02: That's what I found, so that's what I'm drinking.
• 3:31
SPEAKER_02: Episode 10, the new person.
• 3:36
SPEAKER_00: So we start off with this dude just sitting at the kitchen table going on and on about some like boring work shit, but like his intonation spot on.
• 3:48
SPEAKER_00: He was so into it, and his voice was just like very passionate about his bullshit mediocre job, passionate, bullshit mediocre order numbers and lamps that he was talking about, story of lamp, yeah, and like the fuck, yeah, and he was like, he's like, and then customer service got involved, and I told the customer service, and and in my head, I'm like, oh my god, like we know you're gonna die, just die already.
• 4:21
SPEAKER_00: Like, how are you gonna die?
• 4:22
  SPEAKER_00: How's it gonna happen?
• 4:23
SPEAKER_02: I thought I thought he was gonna choke on something because he didn't shut up.
• 4:27
SPEAKER_00: That's what I was thinking too, as I'm re-watching it, because I kind of forgot this one, and so as he's going on and on about sweet nothing, um, his wife's making breakfast in the background.
• 4:40
SPEAKER_00: She's making like pancakes or bacon or some shit, and like a eggs, yeah.
• 4:45
SPEAKER_00: And um as he's talking, she just picks up the cast iron and smacks him in the head with it.
• 4:52
SPEAKER_00: Falls over, she sits down, she eats his food.
• 4:55
SPEAKER_02: Right out of nowhere, it just and then it's like, okay, cool, now it's nice and quiet.
• 5:01
  SPEAKER_02: I could have a nice breakfast.
• 5:03
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think she said something like finally, or something like that.
• 5:08
  SPEAKER_02: Oh, she might have.
• 5:11
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that I mean, I didn't see that coming, but that was good.
• 5:15
SPEAKER_02: I mean, it's not that he died necessarily.
• 5:18
  SPEAKER_02: Oh no, no, no.
• 5:19
SPEAKER_00: But no, this is with the timing of it and everything, just it was quite funny.
• 5:26
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so Jonathan Arthur Hanley, 1946 to 2001.
• 5:35
SPEAKER_02: It leads us right into David and Nate in the laboratory, and we find out that the wife told the cops that she killed him because he was boring, just straight up boring.
• 5:50
SPEAKER_02: And then we we more or less don't really hear anything else about him for the rest of the episode.
• 5:55
SPEAKER_02: But he was boring, because he yeah, so he doesn't even get a mention, but then the boys are talking to each other and worrying aloud if they're boring too, which I thought was funny because they're just kind of like, wait, are are we boring?
• 6:13
SPEAKER_02: But they also acknowledge that they need help since Rico is not there.
• 6:19
SPEAKER_02: David concedes, but um Nate is already kind of like yeah, I already have interviews lined up, like we're good.
• 6:27
SPEAKER_02: He's like, Because doesn't isn't this where Nate kind of insults his work where he says like the the reconstruction that it's not his strong suit?
• 6:43
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, okay, yeah.
• 6:45
SPEAKER_00: And right after this, that's when we see like the roll call of the interviewees, and we finally after sorting through like all the very weird ones, we come to like a an okay, decent one.
• 6:58
  SPEAKER_00: Her name's Angela.
• 7:00
SPEAKER_00: And after she leaves, David turns to Nate and says something like, Is it desperate if we just tell her that she's hired?
• 7:09
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he's like, wait an hour, but make sure she could start tomorrow.
• 7:14
SPEAKER_00: Which was like kind of cute, kind of funny.
• 7:19
SPEAKER_02: We see David, who's supposed to be vacuuming the the chapel.
• 7:28
SPEAKER_02: I feel like we never know what to call it, but um, he's supposed to be vacuuming that, and instead he's having this singing routine.
• 7:40
SPEAKER_02: But is it the fact that they hired someone?
• 7:44
SPEAKER_02: Is that what prompted it?
• 7:45
SPEAKER_02: Because it didn't it seemed like it was about men, yeah.
• 7:50
SPEAKER_00: You know what with David, I just don't know anymore.
• 7:53
SPEAKER_00: Okay, yeah, no, I feel like David is just discovering who he is, and he's just being more open to the fact that he doesn't have to be so like tightly wound up, and now he's just doing things for literally no reason, but that's cut off by Billy's fancy art show, yes, and we see the fishers and we see the Cenowitzes at the art show, which is rare and strange because Nate's mom and Brenda's parents haven't met yet, but right, yeah, they are as different as different can be.
• 8:33
  SPEAKER_00: Oh, totally, yeah, right.
• 8:36
SPEAKER_00: And this is oh no, no, it's okay, go ahead.
• 8:40
SPEAKER_02: Oh, I was just gonna say Brenda's mom, well, Brenda and Billy's mom is drunk as fuck, and she is just acting all kinds of inappropriate with them, and Ruth shows up with Nikolai, and they're both kind of stiff.
• 9:01
SPEAKER_02: Um, so I think it's it's just funny how they're so different.
• 9:32
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and then Brenda's mom does something that I think I was referencing in our last episode by accident.
• 9:40
SPEAKER_00: Um, I don't know if you cut it out or not yet, but she noticed.
• 9:46
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think I was talking to you about it afterwards.
• 9:48
SPEAKER_02: I mean, that that last episode is published, so I don't know.
• 9:54
  SPEAKER_00: I maybe I didn't catch it.
• 9:55
  SPEAKER_00: Oh no, it's fine.
• 9:56
SPEAKER_00: I think what happened was was that I was going to say something and then I didn't say it, and I told you about it afterwards, or I think I mentioned it, and then we both couldn't remember what I was talking about, we quickly moved on.
• 10:09
SPEAKER_00: So it wasn't anything that like I really drew attention to, but I remember last time thinking like, oh yeah, and Brenda's mom's being weird with Billy, thinking about this episode by accident.
• 10:20
SPEAKER_00: And so while like they're all looking at Billy's artwork and like this is like a fancy schmancy art show, like they're all wearing black, whatever.
• 10:28
SPEAKER_00: Um, Brenda's mom says some shit to Brenda, like, and I can't believe you get to have him all to yourself.
• 10:35
SPEAKER_02: Like in my first you can't always have him all to yourself, but she said it in a sexual way, and it was really fucked up because it was right after she's whispering in Billy's ear.
• 10:46
SPEAKER_02: And it was just that seemed very inappropriate.
• 10:50
SPEAKER_02: I mean, we have no idea what she said, but her body language was was awkward.
• 10:58
SPEAKER_00: And speaking of awkward body language, she continues to have extremely awkward body language with somebody who's reciprocating it.
• 11:08
  SPEAKER_00: Uh, Dr.
• 11:09
  SPEAKER_00: Gareth Weinberg.
• 11:10
  SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, Dr.
• 11:11
  SPEAKER_02: F.
• 11:12
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, who just to fill you guys in if you didn't already know, he's the one who um the the doctor that wrote the book about Brenda.
• 11:22
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Nathaniel and Isabel.
• 11:24
SPEAKER_00: He like helped publish it.
• 11:27
  SPEAKER_02: No.
• 11:29
  SPEAKER_00: Oh, was I wrong?
• 11:30
  SPEAKER_02: Okay, wait.
• 11:32
SPEAKER_02: I thought he wrote I thought Nathaniel and Isabel were the books that they liked, but the book that oh you're right, you're right, you're right.
• 11:41
SPEAKER_00: It wasn't it wasn't that it was in um something in light and dark.
• 11:45
SPEAKER_00: Yes, Charlotte, light and dark, light and dark, that's what it was.
• 11:48
SPEAKER_02: I'm sorry, because he wrote Nathaniel and Isabel, so that's probably why you were thinking it.
• 11:54
  SPEAKER_00: Yes, you're right, you're right.
• 11:56
SPEAKER_02: But I guess that that's that it seems like those are their alter egos.
• 12:01
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, a hundred percent.
• 12:03
SPEAKER_00: But um, yeah, that's what I meant.
• 12:05
SPEAKER_00: Like he helped publish um Charlotte Light and Dark.
• 12:08
SPEAKER_00: He was like one of the main psychologists that was like on the panel for Brenda, like she just has like she she looks at him like a a disgusting pig, like scummine.
• 12:17
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and yeah, and so after that interaction, um, we see Ruth walking around with Nikolai, and they notice something that Nick whoa, excuse me, um, that Nate noticed something with Brenda, um, which was the fact that Billy took a picture of Nate peeing on a wall in public and then like published it in his like art show.
• 12:46
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and the best part is that when Billy confronts him and he's he's asking Billy, what are you stalking me?
• 12:55
SPEAKER_02: And he's like, No, I saw you and I just followed you for a couple of miles.
• 12:59
SPEAKER_00: She's so fucked up, just a couple of miles, it's yeah, and Brenda like defends him in that too.
• 13:04
SPEAKER_00: I forgot exactly what she said, but she was just like it was only a couple of miles.
• 13:08
SPEAKER_02: I feel no, she says she says that's what Billy does, yeah.
• 13:14
SPEAKER_00: Like in reference to like, oh, this is just his art, it's not his personality.
• 13:19
SPEAKER_02: But I I felt a little bit for her in that moment because there was no right answer.
• 13:26
SPEAKER_02: She had a she was gonna have to pick a side and somebody was gonna get pissed, and I felt like that was her politician answer, but it still didn't work, yeah.
• 13:38
SPEAKER_02: But not the worst answer, I guess she could come up with in that situation.
• 13:43
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but it gets worse because then Ruth gets introduced to her parents, right?
• 13:49
SPEAKER_00: And her mom is drunk as fuck.
• 13:51
SPEAKER_00: Brenda calls her out on it, and the interaction is very strange, and and it doesn't last long either.
• 13:59
SPEAKER_00: Nate and Brenda end up back at Brenda's place, and she's just kind of distraught, Nate's distraught, and while Brenda's like smoking a joint, she's just confiding in Nate about when Billy tried to commit suicide when she was like 18, I think.
• 14:18
SPEAKER_02: It was between her graduating college, graduating high school, and going to college.
• 14:24
SPEAKER_02: So yeah, she had to be about 18.
• 14:26
SPEAKER_02: Because Billy Nate asks if he if he's dangerous, and then that's when she says that he's really only a danger to himself, and then starts explaining, but I mean something new, like she's told this story before, just with less details, yeah.
• 14:51
  SPEAKER_01: Right, right.
• 14:52
SPEAKER_00: And I forgot if she had mentioned it to Nate or to somebody else, but I know that Brenda has spoken about Billy's attempted suicide and the fact that her parents hid it from her, and that um yeah, it felt like something because of it.
• 15:12
SPEAKER_02: And I just I didn't know if it was be you know, like from from watching this episode a couple of times, or if no, no, no, no.
• 15:20
SPEAKER_00: It it was definitely mentioned in the previous episode, like maybe like six or five or four, like it could have been in the beginning, like when Billy was first introduced, and Nate was still like fresh and new in Brenda's life, and vice versa.
• 15:33
SPEAKER_00: I think maybe it was mentioned then.
• 15:35
SPEAKER_02: It could have been, yeah.
• 15:37
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but then we see Claire and Gabe hanging out.
• 15:42
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, and this is when this is when Claire's at Gabe's place, and Gabe was talking about right watching Full House, and then Gabe talks about packing up toys to give to the boy next door, yeah.
• 16:02
  SPEAKER_00: Like his brother.
• 16:02
SPEAKER_02: His name was Tony, who's like the same name as his brother, right?
• 16:06
SPEAKER_02: Because wasn't the brother Anthony?
• 16:08
SPEAKER_02: Yes, and then the mother walks in and is like, What are you guys doing on a on a inside on a nice day?
• 16:16
SPEAKER_02: Um they just kind of ignore her, but then she gets pissed off when she realizes what they're doing with the toys, takes them, and then that's when they're like, Come on, let's get out of here.
• 16:27
SPEAKER_02: And Claire's like, Come on, I gotta show you something funny.
• 16:32
SPEAKER_02: And she takes them to see the picture.
• 16:35
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so it's like last episode was the tale of the Fisher family traveling drugs, and this time it's the Fisher family traveling people to see Nate pissing on a wall.
• 16:50
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's what it's like the glue in this episode, yeah, because they all take a turn.
• 16:56
SPEAKER_00: Just like the two pills of ecstasy in the bottle of aspirin was the glue last time.
• 17:02
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 17:03
SPEAKER_00: And so after this, we get to see Angela's first day, which Angela is just out there loud and proud.
• 17:14
SPEAKER_00: Um, and specifically, I mean, just like her tits hanging out there loud and proud.
• 17:18
SPEAKER_02: Even before they walk into the room, she's like, I'm gonna apologize in advance because I had calamari for dinner.
• 17:26
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like OMG.
• 17:30
SPEAKER_00: Okay, and they and she's telling me this, and they just like, what are you talking about?
• 17:36
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and she's just like, Well, you know, like thank God for the formaldehyde.
• 17:40
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the smell, yeah.
• 17:43
SPEAKER_02: It's like, oh my gosh, like yeah, and she when by the time David walks in, I mean she has on like a halter top, and her her boobs are just it's like all cleavage, and it's she has her little weed necklace, yeah.
• 18:03
SPEAKER_00: She's it's like the secondhand embarrassment was so bad, and I felt it like when I re-watched it again today, as she's as Angela's walking around with like her boobs out, talking about how tits aren't that big of a deal.
• 18:17
SPEAKER_02: Like, she bends down, she had whale tail extremely they're just they're just nipples, we all have them, we've all touched them, we've all sucked on them.
• 18:24
SPEAKER_02: Like, what okay, that's a lot of assumptions, but okay.
• 18:29
SPEAKER_00: That's a lot of assumptions, and that's a lot of things to say for somebody new on your first day to your basically to your boss, yeah.
• 18:38
SPEAKER_00: And Nate, and I'm sorry, and David just like had enough of this, walks away.
• 18:43
SPEAKER_00: She makes some comment about like how David's so like fucking annoying, like how we always say, and Nate just like chuckles about it, but like you could tell like Nate did an uncomfortable chuckle.
• 18:55
SPEAKER_00: Like, I'm laughing because I can't just like walk away either.
• 19:00
SPEAKER_00: But this just kind of sets the tone for our new buddy Angela.
• 19:05
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we go back to Billy and Brenda, and they're arguing.
• 19:15
SPEAKER_02: I don't know what her problem is.
• 19:17
SPEAKER_02: Billy and Brenda are arguing about Nate, and Brenda is telling him how he what oh shit, what did he say?
• 19:30
  SPEAKER_02: What did she say?
• 19:30
  SPEAKER_02: Like that he's communicating a problem.
• 19:37
SPEAKER_02: Oh she try she and then he like calls her out on her like psychobabble shit.
• 19:42
SPEAKER_02: Um but that basically he's creating a problem for her and him.
• 19:50
SPEAKER_02: But yeah, I I can't remember what she tells him.
• 19:53
  SPEAKER_00: But honestly, I can't remember either.
• 19:57
  SPEAKER_00: I like just finished re-watching it, I can't remember.
• 20:00
  SPEAKER_02: I watched it before.
• 20:02
SPEAKER_00: No, but I know like she she calls him out because he's he's like I don't know if she said he was jealous, but but anyway, he was creating a problem, and Billy denies it, and then it's you know, it just the scene was quick, and then immediately after Billy and Brendan's interaction, um, we see David volunteering once again, and his good old trusty buddy shows back up in his funeral whore.
• 20:34
SPEAKER_00: Oh, yes, I keep forgetting her name Tracy Tracy.
• 20:38
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and so Tracy's asking about his old church as well, actually, here's the thing, and here's what I thought was kind of funny.
• 20:48
SPEAKER_00: Um, David's just kind of like on break while he's volunteering, and he's like hanging out in the back of like a work van, but the work van doors are open, and he hears Tracy on the phone, or not on the phone, like um Yeah, no, she was on the phone.
• 21:02
SPEAKER_00: Okay, like she had like one of those like earpiece, yeah.
• 21:05
SPEAKER_00: And so she's talking like on the phone to somebody with her earpiece, and she's like checking off like names of like the people who are supposed to show up or whatever, and he hears her, takes a second to like prepare for their interaction, doesn't try to like run away or anything because he really could have escaped, like she had no clue that he was there, yeah, with the van doors open, and he calls her over, he goes, Tracy, is that you?
• 21:28
SPEAKER_00: And she is just so petrified of this interaction, yeah.
• 21:33
SPEAKER_00: And like she got her hair blonde, she cut it short, and like Yeah, he comments on her hair.
• 21:39
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he's like, I love what you did with your hair, and she's like, Oh, thanks.
• 21:42
SPEAKER_00: And she tries to like quickly change the topic because it seems like she doesn't want to talk to him, and she asks about his old church, which was like the one that we just saw in the last couple episodes, that like progressive church, and she literally says to him, Oh, it's a progressive church, isn't it?
• 21:58
SPEAKER_00: And David's like, uh-huh, it is with like eyes and the the head and everything, as if he's trying to give her a message, and she's still not really receiving it.
• 22:10
SPEAKER_02: But he's but and he's like, Oh, yeah, but only if only for a little while, so it's I don't know, mixed David messages as usual, yeah.
• 22:21
SPEAKER_02: But she tells him that they're gonna be volunteering.
• 22:25
SPEAKER_02: Volunteering at some point in the future.
• 22:29
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, she mentions that they're gonna be volunteering, and I think that piques his interest because you know Keith still goes to that church.
• 22:40
  SPEAKER_02: So, you know.
• 22:43
SPEAKER_00: Just something to hold on to until we get further in the episode.
• 22:47
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 22:47
SPEAKER_00: Claire shows Gabe out and he apologizes.
• 22:51
SPEAKER_00: Oh, sorry, I said that completely wrong.
• 22:54
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so she she takes him to see the art, and um, she's showing him out of like the art gallery, and he's like, they're they're still walking around the art gallery, actually.
• 23:03
SPEAKER_00: And he's like, and I'm sorry, and she's like, for what?
• 23:06
SPEAKER_00: Because it really came out of nowhere, and he's like, you know, for like everything, like I just got caught up with like the guys at school, and I didn't mean for it to like get blown up out of proportion, and like I'm just sorry, and she's so taken aback, Claire.
• 23:21
SPEAKER_00: And it was really genuine the way that game, yeah.
• 23:25
SPEAKER_02: It it seemed pretty genuine, yeah.
• 23:28
SPEAKER_00: And so it it seems like you know, going through that traumatic incident with his brother, um, losing his brother like that, is providing like a positive way for him to change his behaviors from now on.
• 23:45
SPEAKER_00: And um, yeah, it looks like Gabe's a changing person.
• 23:49
SPEAKER_00: It looks like he's becoming somebody that's just a little bit better for himself, Claire, for everybody else.
• 23:55
  SPEAKER_01: Right.
• 23:56
SPEAKER_00: So back to Angeline, her one-hour orgasm that she's going on and on about.
• 24:01
SPEAKER_00: Um, she has like an earpiece on at work, like talking about shit on the phone to somebody about how she wants to have this one-hour orgasm, and that um it's only fair, right?
• 24:13
SPEAKER_02: Because even someone can't have a one-hour orgasm, they get everything else.
• 24:17
SPEAKER_02: So she feels like this is a fair exchange.
• 24:20
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 24:21
SPEAKER_00: And like it was David, no, I'm sorry, it was Nate that was down there because, like, as Nate's telling her, like, hey, like David said that we're really not supposed to have like like David's expectation is that we don't take personal calls while we're working.
• 24:36
SPEAKER_00: She's like, Oh, okay, I'll do when David's around.
• 24:39
SPEAKER_00: And as Nate goes to like say something back to her, his phone rings, it's Brenda, he takes the personal call, he walks away and he starts talking to her about like how he's not upset about like the pissing thing.
• 24:50
SPEAKER_00: And so Angela, as we know of her so far, she loves to insert herself in situations that she's not supposed to be in.
• 24:57
SPEAKER_00: Um, she starts talking to Nate about his private conversation he was having on the phone.
• 25:02
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and is like like she said some shit, like, oh, and I heard you talking about the pissing thing at first when my boyfriend wanted to piss on me, it wasn't that weird.
• 25:12
SPEAKER_00: But yeah, like, oh my god.
• 25:15
  SPEAKER_02: She's like, but that's just me, but I don't think it's weird.
• 25:18
SPEAKER_02: Like, yeah, um, lady, this is day one.
• 25:21
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the only thing that's pissing is her off.
• 25:25
SPEAKER_00: Like, I the the the delivery on that was so wrong.
• 25:31
  SPEAKER_00: Wow.
• 25:32
SPEAKER_00: Okay, I'm just gonna shut up.
• 25:34
SPEAKER_00: Anyway, she's pissing Nate off.
• 25:36
  SPEAKER_00: That's it.
• 25:37
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Nate Nate is just kind of like baffled and and just like um I'm over this.
• 25:44
SPEAKER_02: Is this no, this is not?
• 25:48
SPEAKER_00: No, we go right next to um like the next scene is Ruth and Nikolai's interactions.
• 25:56
SPEAKER_00: So Nikolai at work the next day, like Ruth's like making an arrangement or trying to, because I feel like she's doing a half-ass job, and Nicolai is like, thank you, like for taking me out.
• 26:07
SPEAKER_00: And it's like it's literally the first time thank you ever came out of his mouth.
• 26:12
SPEAKER_00: And it's so weird because it just doesn't sound right, yeah.
• 26:16
SPEAKER_00: And and like he's trying to change for Ruth, which is kind of cute.
• 26:22
SPEAKER_00: He admits to liking spending time with Ruth, and our Ruthie girl gets assertive, and she like sets up a dinner date with him for the following night.
• 26:30
SPEAKER_02: He's so cute because she's he says, like, thank you for taking me, and she goes, Oh, but I thought you hated that.
• 26:36
SPEAKER_02: He goes, No, it's not that I hated them, it's just that I don't like them, but I like you.
• 26:42
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so I like spending time with you.
• 26:44
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and he was like, I like spending time outside work with you.
• 26:48
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and she was like, So why don't we just get dinner tomorrow night?
• 26:51
SPEAKER_00: And he's like, Is it a date?
• 26:52
SPEAKER_00: And she's like, No, and he's like, I'll pick you up at eight.
• 26:54
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was so cute, yeah.
• 27:01
SPEAKER_00: So later on, um, we see Gabe at school and Gabe is standing next to his locker with like that dick that has the peanut peanut testicle.
• 27:14
  SPEAKER_00: Andy, thank you.
• 27:15
SPEAKER_00: And he's standing there with Andy, and Claire approaches them, and they are just Andy and Claire bickering.
• 27:24
SPEAKER_00: Andy calls Claire Morticia, she calls him peanut testicle, and Gabe just like Gabe's just watching, and Andy just walks away.
• 27:31
SPEAKER_00: He's like, fuck both of you.
• 27:33
  SPEAKER_00: He walks away.
• 27:34
SPEAKER_00: And so Claire was talking about like the next time her and Gabe could hang out, just like how they were, and she's being clingy clear.
• 27:42
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and you could tell, like, she's just falling into the same pattern that she was falling into in the beginning of the season when she was all over Gabe, and he goes, Look, Claire, you don't have to keep taking care of me, right?
• 27:54
SPEAKER_00: Which was kind of like out of the ordinary from how we saw him in the last scene, but at the same time, I feel like that was like a normal reaction to the way that she was acting.
• 28:06
SPEAKER_00: I don't think he was wrong for saying that.
• 28:10
  SPEAKER_02: No, I don't think so.
• 28:11
SPEAKER_00: But Claire is like just so down about it, and like you could see like the expression, her face just falls, and he's like, Well, I have to go to my dad's this weekend, or I have to go to my dad's after school.
• 28:22
  SPEAKER_00: That's what it is.
• 28:22
SPEAKER_00: He's like, I have to go to my dad's after school to ask for money for my mom, so like I can't hang out, and she's like, Well, you could just take me, and then like I could stay in some CD motel and like read a Stephen King book, and like she's just trying to like like make a fantasy out of just like trauma, which is just yeah, annoying at this point.
• 28:49
SPEAKER_02: That there's something also to be said in the sense of like he was her first, and she probably has a little bit of an emotional attachment, and then he has this trauma, so she's trying to help him through, but but she's become more attached.
• 29:09
SPEAKER_02: And and again, she's supposed to be 16, so it's you're a kid, and you just it's it's hard to understand all these emotions, yeah.
• 29:21
SPEAKER_00: But Gabe kind of ends the conversation.
• 29:24
SPEAKER_00: He's like, you know what?
• 29:25
SPEAKER_00: Like, I'll give you a call after school, and then we'll meet me by the gym, and she's like, Okay, like she got her way, she's okay.
• 29:34
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so now we're stopping talking about Claire and Gabe for a second because in the next scene we see Dr.
• 29:43
SPEAKER_00: Gareth Feinberg um going to his office, like at a university, and he sees that his office is broken into because the door is like left ajar.
• 29:56
SPEAKER_00: Yes, the door is left ajar, and so which to me is a curb reference.
• 30:02
SPEAKER_00: I don't it's not a curb reference for you, but there's there's like the first episode, like a one of the newer seasons, like nine or ten.
• 30:12
  SPEAKER_00: So fucking funny.
• 30:14
SPEAKER_00: Anyway, um, if anybody knows that episode, he broke up a marriage because the door was left ajar, anyway.
• 30:20
SPEAKER_00: Um so he sees that his office door is left ajar, and he goes inside and he sees that like his office is vandalized, like papers were thrown everywhere, and on on the wall in armed spray paint, it says Nathaniel Isabel, yeah, and so immediately we know like this is the work of Billy, like duh.
• 30:45
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and so there's like two suspects, if Brenda or Billy, right?
• 30:51
SPEAKER_00: And Brenda's a little bit more sane not to do something like that from what we know of her so far, right?
• 30:57
SPEAKER_02: Well, because also when when they were at the art show and he showed up, Billy yelled at his mom about like Brenda walked off when he kind of came into the picture, but Billy yelled at the mom and was like um something about Dr.
• 31:16
  SPEAKER_02: Feinberg fucking Brenda over.
• 31:19
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so yeah, yeah.
• 31:22
SPEAKER_00: We also know it's Billy who did this because immediately cuts the Billy throwing papers in the pool in his parents' house.
• 31:28
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and um the mystery is not for long.
• 31:31
SPEAKER_00: No, no, we see him like reading papers and then just like crumbling them up or just like throwing them in the pool, and you could see that they're like whole files and then just papers.
• 31:40
SPEAKER_00: While while Billy's in like this rage, um, you see his parents walking like through in the back, and they're like, Billy, what's wrong?
• 31:49
SPEAKER_00: Like being completely neutral with him in like such a like eerie type just almost like condescending way, yeah, like unsettling and condescending way, and so but he is a hundred percent rage at this point.
• 32:04
SPEAKER_00: Um, and he yells, like, don't fucking talk about me, like I'm not here, like and his parents are just like at work when it comes to talking to him, they're not being parents, they're just being like psychiatrists, psychologists, yeah.
• 32:19
SPEAKER_00: And Billy's enraged on Brenda's behalf, and he just goes off about saying how they really fucked up her life, right?
• 32:29
SPEAKER_00: And Billy gives a line to his parents that really, really affects his mom, or she's just acting like it affects her because I can't really get a read on her in the scene.
• 32:40
SPEAKER_00: And he said, You don't get to touch the children, yeah.
• 32:43
SPEAKER_02: Cause he he was like, You you were the nurse, you kept them.
• 32:48
SPEAKER_02: You kept them like locked up in a way or something, yeah, and you don't get to touch the children, yeah.
• 32:54
SPEAKER_02: And I was like, What the fuck does that mean?
• 32:57
SPEAKER_00: He was like, Fuck both of you.
• 32:59
SPEAKER_00: I hope you both die.
• 33:00
SPEAKER_00: You don't get to touch the children, and I had to like replay that immediately because I was like typing up notes while I was re-watching it, and then as soon as he says that line, like her mom just like drops to the ground, yeah, and her dad's like, I'm not entertaining this right and walks away.
• 33:18
SPEAKER_00: So I just I needed to hear what he said again.
• 33:22
SPEAKER_00: I turned on the captions and I was like, Whoa, that's a weird line, yeah.
• 33:27
SPEAKER_00: But she's uh like I forgot her name, but Brenda's and Billy's mom's just like very effective, like her eyes start like watering, and but the dad just like ditches both of them, he's like, Fuck you both, and walks away.
• 33:42
SPEAKER_00: And so now we're back in the laboratory, and we see Angela and David working side by side on bodies together, and Angela is just like purposely pissing David off with the fact that she's just existing.
• 33:56
SPEAKER_00: Um, she keeps saying the word sinewy in reference to one of the dead bodies next.
• 34:04
SPEAKER_00: She's like, What is sinewy next?
• 34:05
SPEAKER_00: Singue, singue is such a weird word.
• 34:07
  SPEAKER_00: Would you agree sinewy?
• 34:08
SPEAKER_00: And David's like about to just like choke her to death, yeah, make her next sinewy, right?
• 34:14
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and then it gets even worse because she starts talking to David about like sex, yeah.
• 34:20
SPEAKER_00: She's like, Oh, I'm just trying to figure out your type, and immediately follows that up with so what kind of guys do you like?
• 34:28
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and then it's like, how would you know them into guys?
• 34:31
SPEAKER_00: Like, what makes you think them into guys?
• 34:33
SPEAKER_00: And she goes, Oh, please, let's not play this game, right?
• 34:36
SPEAKER_00: Right, and so it's getting to the point now.
• 34:40
SPEAKER_00: I feel like this is what David's thinking that like people can identify his sexuality by his mannerisms or whatever.
• 34:49
SPEAKER_02: Because that scene it it ends, but you could hear it was like you could hear the audio for the next scene, and it's just David.
• 34:59
SPEAKER_02: We have to fire her.
• 35:01
SPEAKER_02: Like you you knew that it's the next scene, but it it overlaps just a little bit, and David immediately after she says it's like we have to fire her.
• 35:09
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and he's sitting at dinner with his brother and their mom, and Ruth, yeah, yeah, and they're like, Is she doing a bad job?
• 35:18
SPEAKER_02: Uh Ruth asks, and they're like, No, she's perfect.
• 35:21
SPEAKER_00: Cool, yeah, and so Ruth, in an attempt to console her sons about this issue, starts passively talking about Nikolai to the boys, and they see right through it, yeah, and so it's just like it's a really like cringy scene, to be honest.
• 35:38
SPEAKER_00: But I feel like Ruth does a lot of things that are very cringy and like very very feeding to her ego, you know what I mean?
• 35:48
  SPEAKER_00: Like we're a root, pretty much.
• 35:50
SPEAKER_02: Everything revolves around Ruth because she's she starts saying how sometimes people are annoying or aggressive at first, but then like they're nervous, yeah, but then she's like, but what do I know?
• 36:06
SPEAKER_02: You feel like she's like, I don't know, but I I kind of felt like she was more or less correct.
• 36:14
SPEAKER_00: She was more or less correct, but like even Nate looked at David and David looked at Nate, and they're like, Oh, she's talking about Nicolai, she's talking about something else.
• 36:22
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, oh yeah, and then after Claire just like walks in late to dinner and sits down, she's like, Oh, by the way, I'm not gonna be around for dinner tomorrow.
• 36:30
SPEAKER_00: Ruth says that, but we know she's not gonna be around because she has a date, but nobody asks where she's gonna be.
• 36:36
  SPEAKER_00: Right, yeah.
• 36:38
SPEAKER_00: Clara lies about where she's gonna be the next night because in her head she's like, Oh, I'm gonna meet up with Gabe.
• 36:45
SPEAKER_02: Right, we're going to bar stove, mm-hmm.
• 36:47
SPEAKER_00: And she lies and she says it's something about like astronomy for school.
• 36:52
  SPEAKER_00: And Ruth's like, Really?
• 36:54
SPEAKER_00: Because like I thought I would have heard about it by now.
• 36:56
  SPEAKER_00: Like, Ruth's caring, wow.
• 36:57
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and she's like, No, I told you.
• 37:00
SPEAKER_02: She's like, You you probably weren't listening.
• 37:02
SPEAKER_00: And Ruth's like, that's something I would listen to.
• 37:04
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and then she's like, But like Nate and David did it, and they're like, Yeah, yeah, we did, like covering for her ass, which was really interesting because like David was the first to respond, and he was like, Oh, yeah, I had to do that.
• 37:17
SPEAKER_00: And Nate's like, Yeah, me too.
• 37:19
SPEAKER_00: Ruth's like, Okay, I'll guess I'll be okay with it, like just being an annoying parent, yeah, annoying in the sense that she's just not really caring, but acts like she's caring.
• 37:33
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like she's deciding to take an interest in her life, like now.
• 37:40
SPEAKER_00: And from what I understand of these characters' interactions, it doesn't really seem like she ever took an interest in Calair's life up until when like her husband died, like their dad died.
• 37:53
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it seems like she had kind of checked out you know, the boys were adults and raised, and so it's kind of like you're done, but yet you you're not.
• 38:07
  SPEAKER_00: Yep.
• 38:10
SPEAKER_00: So now we see Brenda at her parents' house, and we find out that like from her parents that Dr.
• 38:19
SPEAKER_00: uh Feinberg's not gonna press charges for what Billy did.
• 38:22
SPEAKER_00: And immediately Brenda's like, well, I'll talk to Billy about like what's going on and that he can't do things like that again, and blah blah blah.
• 38:30
SPEAKER_00: But then our parents suggest something that really sets Brenda off, and it would set me off too.
• 38:35
SPEAKER_00: Um, if my parents were psychologists, psychiatrists, and they just tried to get rid of their problems by pushing people away.
• 38:45
SPEAKER_00: Um, they talk about sending Billy for intensive therapy out in Colorado.
• 38:50
SPEAKER_00: And then Brenda like collapsed back with, you want to give Billy shock therapy, which I thought was like Brenda being dramatic and like extreme, but then her parents just like yeah, the father's like, oh, but electro-convulsive therapy has come a long way.
• 39:06
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they insinuate that that's their goal, like something like that.
• 39:11
SPEAKER_00: She's just like, she's so angry with them.
• 39:14
SPEAKER_02: Um she goes to walk alone, yeah, and she's like, You can't do that because he's an adult, and so they're like, Oh, yeah, well, we were hoping you would talk to him.
• 39:25
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and she's like, Fuck you, both, you're out of your minds, and leaves.
• 39:27
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so Rich is eating lunch, minding her own business, like business in her kitchen upstairs, and Angela walks up and is like, Oh, I kept spelling some beet juice on this woman's wig.
• 39:39
SPEAKER_00: So David sent me upstairs, which is just really funny, and then she starts going off about like how she's a lot of experience with wigs because everybody in her family eventually gets cancer, some shit like that.
• 39:52
SPEAKER_00: She talks to Ruth about how her hair looks like a wig, and um, and then she starts talking about she starts asking Ruth questions about Ruth's sex life, and Ruth's just like, we just met.
• 40:07
  SPEAKER_02: Ruth wanted to choke.
• 40:08
SPEAKER_00: I'm not gonna talk to you about shit.
• 40:09
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, she wanted to choke on her sandwich and die.
• 40:14
SPEAKER_00: But when she's talking about Ruth's sex life, she asks questions in reference to Ruth's boyfriend, which um is the hairdresser, Hiram.
• 40:26
SPEAKER_00: Right, and Ruth says something like, He's not exactly my boyfriend.
• 40:29
SPEAKER_00: And Angela goes, Is it serious or is it just hot sex?
• 40:33
SPEAKER_00: Which was kind of funny.
• 40:36
SPEAKER_00: But Ruth Ruth didn't find that funny at all.
• 40:39
SPEAKER_00: No, no, Claire's now waiting outside the gym for Gabe and doesn't see him and checks her phone.
• 40:48
SPEAKER_00: She notices there's a voicemail, and in that voicemail, um, by Gabe, uh, he said something like, I went alone, um, but like, don't worry about me.
• 40:59
SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much, and uh yeah, thank you.
• 41:03
  SPEAKER_00: Uh goodbye, Claire.
• 41:05
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he's like, So I I guess that's it.
• 41:09
  SPEAKER_02: Something like that.
• 41:10
SPEAKER_00: And it sounds very off-putting on Gabe's, but you don't really give it a second thought.
• 41:16
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but the the way that he said bye, Claire was just strange.
• 41:21
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
• 41:22
  SPEAKER_02: But that's it's gonna come back.
• 41:25
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, we'll get back to this.
• 41:27
SPEAKER_00: Um, in the meantime, Billy and Brenda are talking.
• 41:30
SPEAKER_00: Um, he's actually like fixing her kitchen sink, yeah.
• 41:34
SPEAKER_00: Like he's trying to like be a plumber or some shit like that.
• 41:37
SPEAKER_00: And and Billy's talking to, I mean, Brenda's talking to Billy about his actions, and he's like, Well, I was on like new meds that day, and now I'm all evened out.
• 41:46
SPEAKER_00: I wouldn't do that if that wasn't the case in the first place.
• 41:50
SPEAKER_00: And she's like, Do I need to worry about you?
• 41:52
SPEAKER_00: And he's like, No, you don't need to worry about me.
• 41:55
SPEAKER_00: And then she like gives him a kiss on the head, but then he gets like all stiff and weird.
• 42:01
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, he just doesn't understand human interaction, yeah.
• 42:07
SPEAKER_00: It's just odd, but it's time for roots date.
• 42:12
SPEAKER_00: Um, she's it's not quite time for her date, but she's prepping for her date.
• 42:16
SPEAKER_00: Um, she decides that she wants to begin her date with Nikolai by pouring them both a glass of sherry, which like what the fuck?
• 42:27
SPEAKER_00: But anyway, um, she wants to pour them both a glass of sherry in like her goblets that she got from her cousin.
• 42:34
SPEAKER_00: I in my head, I'm thinking like the cousin we met in like episode two.
• 42:38
SPEAKER_02: I and I always if you if I hear the word goblet, I think of like a big yeah, but she was kind of it was like a things were for dolls, yeah.
• 42:48
SPEAKER_00: It was like a mini wine glass, and she's like, it's a goblet.
• 42:53
SPEAKER_00: And uh she goes to pick one up and it's fine, but then she picks the other one up, and the stem's like not attached to the top of the glass, and she just picks it up really weird, and she's just kind of looking at it, and the scene cuts to um a different scene.
• 43:10
SPEAKER_00: I think it actually cuts to the boys examining and critiquing Angela's work.
• 43:15
SPEAKER_00: And they're actually comparing the quality of it to Rico's.
• 43:18
SPEAKER_00: Davis says some shit like, oh, Rico wouldn't have left the three moles and the hair and all.
• 43:25
SPEAKER_00: And Nate was saying something like how Angela was going on a philosophical tangent about like how the kids would want to see her as they remember her.
• 43:38
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but basically, like they both concede that her work is amazing.
• 43:45
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 43:47
SPEAKER_02: But this is where Ruth comes in to say, like, what is the meaning of this?
• 43:52
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, she's like, Um, my goblet's broken.
• 43:56
SPEAKER_00: What's the meaning of this?
• 43:57
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and they're both like nummy, yeah, yeah.
• 44:01
SPEAKER_00: So I think that she thinks, like, I think that Ruth thinks that the boys are trying to like not interrupt her date, but I'm like, Yeah, like sabotage it.
• 44:16
  SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
• 44:17
SPEAKER_00: And um, and they're like, it's not us, and they're like, it must be Angela.
• 44:21
SPEAKER_00: Immediately they like blame it on Angela.
• 44:24
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 44:26
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 44:28
SPEAKER_00: But then after that, we see that David's meeting up with Keith unexpectedly while volunteering.
• 44:34
  SPEAKER_00: They say unexpectedly.
• 44:36
  SPEAKER_00: I think I said that wrong.
• 44:38
  SPEAKER_00: Unexpectedly.
• 44:40
SPEAKER_00: I know how to say it.
• 44:42
SPEAKER_00: My brain's just not working.
• 44:43
  SPEAKER_00: I told you I don't need the wine.
• 44:44
  SPEAKER_00: I'm just delirious.
• 44:46
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 44:46
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 44:47
SPEAKER_00: So David's like going to the church to volunteer, and he sees Keith unexpectedly.
• 44:52
SPEAKER_00: And they're just like they go to talk, but then David like goes and reverts back to his fucking imagination.
• 45:00
  SPEAKER_02: Right.
• 45:00
SPEAKER_02: Of like him getting stabbed and Keith and Keith saving him, but like they have to make love one last time before he dies.
• 45:09
SPEAKER_00: And David's like, um, okay.
• 45:11
SPEAKER_00: He seems like not into it.
• 45:16
  SPEAKER_00: Like it was weird.
• 45:19
SPEAKER_00: Well, I mean, I mean, like, it would be weird to just like picture that in the first place, but like he just seems like he wouldn't be into the fact of like Keith and him making love one last time.
• 45:34
SPEAKER_00: But then he immediately snaps out of it when Keith's like, um, hello, and they start talking about the last time they saw each other, which was at the nightclub.
• 45:42
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 45:43
SPEAKER_00: And immediately Keith's like, um, what was with the drugs at the club?
• 45:47
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he's like, what's with the drugs?
• 45:49
  SPEAKER_02: What's with the guy?
• 45:50
SPEAKER_02: I mean, but David asks him about the other guy too, and um Keith concedes it's it's not really serious, but they are seeing each other.
• 46:00
SPEAKER_02: And David is like, Yeah, I don't like I'm not gonna do those those things again.
• 46:06
SPEAKER_02: But he's definitely distancing himself from Kurt and drugs and all that shit.
• 46:13
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and David says that the kid at the club was just a learning experience.
• 46:19
SPEAKER_00: Right after they're done talking, too.
• 46:21
SPEAKER_00: This is uh this is my scene that sent me six feet under for the week.
• 46:29
SPEAKER_00: Like we get our holy trinity.
• 46:32
SPEAKER_00: We have David, Keith, and Tracy all in one scene together, and I was I was just living for this.
• 46:39
SPEAKER_02: I yes, this this was this has to be mine too, because this was just like awkward is not even the word, it's like whatever is right above awkward.
• 46:53
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and Tracy's wanting to know why David showed up tonight since he wasn't like this wasn't one of his regular shifts, and immediately just like digs the hole for him.
• 47:06
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, she she's just digging David's hole, and then if as if that wasn't bad enough, and she's like, um, and then everybody else is gone, and you guys are still the only ones left.
• 47:18
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and she's like, So what are you doing?
• 47:20
SPEAKER_00: Or like something like that.
• 47:22
SPEAKER_00: She's like, Okay, I'm gonna go now.
• 47:24
SPEAKER_00: Like, not their heads in the clouds, mm-hmm.
• 47:30
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, but they they continue talking and they decide that they're gonna go get dinner.
• 47:38
  SPEAKER_02: So are you hungry?
• 47:41
  SPEAKER_02: He's like, I'm always hungry.
• 47:42
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, man.
• 47:44
  SPEAKER_00: Legit same.
• 47:45
SPEAKER_00: But speaking of dinner, we finally get to see Ruth and Nikolai's date, their dinner date.
• 47:52
SPEAKER_00: And they're at like this Russian restaurant.
• 47:54
SPEAKER_00: You could tell because like there's Russian music playing, like people are speaking Russian in the background.
• 47:58
SPEAKER_00: Like, you could see like the decor is very like um it it displays like facets of Russian culture.
• 48:06
SPEAKER_00: And these two women who start speaking Russian, but then they start speaking English, they walk over, like they notice Nikolai sitting there with Ruth.
• 48:16
SPEAKER_00: They get up and they go over and they're like, Can we join?
• 48:19
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, being really weird, like very like almost seductive.
• 48:23
SPEAKER_02: And Ruth is just like, sure.
• 48:25
  SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
• 48:27
SPEAKER_00: And they're like, You must be Nikolai's special friend.
• 48:30
  SPEAKER_02: Uh-huh.
• 48:30
SPEAKER_02: Or or as you wrote it, like spatial friend.
• 48:34
SPEAKER_00: I made so many questions in my notes.
• 48:36
SPEAKER_00: I'm like looking and I'm trying to like go through my notes, like my typos in my notes, whatever.
• 48:42
  SPEAKER_00: Whatever.
• 48:42
  SPEAKER_00: It's fine.
• 48:43
  SPEAKER_02: Whatever, who cares?
• 48:44
SPEAKER_00: Nikolai's, or they call him Nikki.
• 48:46
  SPEAKER_00: So Nikki's spatial friend.
• 48:49
  unknown: Yeah.
• 48:51
SPEAKER_00: And um, it just seems like he's been talking to other women about Ruth.
• 48:56
  SPEAKER_02: Yep, clearly.
• 48:58
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 48:58
SPEAKER_00: We cut back to David and Keith's scene actually, and um, we see them observing Billy's work of Nate.
• 49:06
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they're like, they can't get in because it's late.
• 49:08
SPEAKER_02: So they're just standing at the door, um, like looking in through the window, trying to find it, and then of course they do, and they get a good laugh, and then they sit down and eat their shitty tacos.
• 49:22
SPEAKER_00: Well, here's the thing though, like they were street tacos, and I feel like street tacos are just aren't shitty.
• 49:30
  SPEAKER_02: I feel like they shouldn't be.
• 49:32
SPEAKER_00: No, and this is why Keith is my grave digger of the week, because he called the street tacos shitty, and honestly, I was watching it and I'm feeling very snacky today.
• 49:42
SPEAKER_00: Now I can't let for that street taco.
• 49:44
SPEAKER_00: I'm just saying, I'm just saying it.
• 49:46
SPEAKER_00: I I think Keith's a piece of shit for doing that, but whatever.
• 49:50
SPEAKER_00: All right, or as I spelt his name, Keith.
• 49:54
  SPEAKER_00: K-I-E-T-H.
• 49:57
  SPEAKER_00: I and then people's P E O P E L.
• 50:00
SPEAKER_00: Like my students spell better than this.
• 50:02
SPEAKER_00: My typos are just crazy.
• 50:04
SPEAKER_02: Well, yeah, but you were probably just typing fast and watching, and so you you have a pass.
• 50:10
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
• 50:11
SPEAKER_00: I also like haven't typed on my personal computer in a very long time.
• 50:16
SPEAKER_00: Um, like aside from just like not really being home where I left my computer, I've just been working on like my work computer, which is like a I don't know, like a 15 and a half-ish, like inch Dell.
• 50:28
SPEAKER_00: That has like the number keyboard, like the extra numbers on the side.
• 50:32
SPEAKER_00: So like yeah, everything's spaced out so much, and I got used to typing on that.
• 50:36
SPEAKER_00: And then I come home to like my 13-inch MacBook Air, and I'm just like, how do I type again?
• 50:42
SPEAKER_00: But anyway, um, yeah, so fuck Keith.
• 50:45
SPEAKER_00: But anyway, speaking of fucking Keith, that's what David's trying to do.
• 50:49
  SPEAKER_00: David takes him home.
• 50:50
SPEAKER_00: Also, David has his own apartment.
• 50:52
SPEAKER_02: I I feel like Yeah, I I get the impression that it's kind of like an apartment over the garage kind of deal.
• 51:01
  SPEAKER_02: Is it over?
• 51:03
  SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
• 51:04
SPEAKER_02: Because here's why I think that because if it was the the last one of the last times that we saw was when he was with the VHS, the military guy in the VHS, and he just kind of comes out of the bathroom and is like looks like he's sitting in a living room ready to jack off, and it's like that's kind of a big space for your bedroom, but that's also kind of like not private if you're somewhere else, and then the next day we learn that that is his room because um Nate shows up.
• 51:42
SPEAKER_02: So in my head, I was like, Well, maybe it's like a garage apartment or a guest house or something.
• 51:50
  SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
• 51:51
SPEAKER_00: So now it makes sense when Keith said to David, like, oh, in like all the years that we dated, this is the first time that I'm back at your place.
• 51:59
  SPEAKER_00: Got it.
• 52:00
SPEAKER_02: Okay, yeah, like I I feel like it's definitely part of the house, but but maybe not like something separate.
• 52:08
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 52:09
SPEAKER_00: And after Keith said something like that, like in all the years that we dated, like, excuse me, um, we've never like came back to your place.
• 52:18
SPEAKER_00: And David goes, Well, you're here now, aren't you?
• 52:20
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, well, he says something like he's never been there in at night or something like that.
• 52:25
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, in reference to like being little rated R at night.
• 52:31
SPEAKER_00: I mean, and then they like embrace, they kiss, they spin, they fall onto the couch, and then David starts getting really like sexually aggressive in a way that seems like Keith is consenting.
• 52:46
SPEAKER_02: But here's the thing, because he pushes Keith to the couch, and then Keith is kind of like, whoa, whoa, whoa, this is not what I came here for.
• 52:55
  SPEAKER_02: Um I'm paraphrasing.
• 52:56
SPEAKER_02: But as soon as they got up there, and as Keith starts taking off his jacket, he puts his arm out towards David, like to go around his waist.
• 53:08
SPEAKER_02: And he was just just as culpable as David for them starting to kiss, like he was in it.
• 53:17
SPEAKER_00: But Keith was leading him on.
• 53:20
SPEAKER_02: Well, he was I mean, look, everybody has a right to change their mind.
• 53:26
SPEAKER_02: So if if his answer is no, his answer is no.
• 53:29
SPEAKER_02: But I understand David's frustration in that he he was at the very least he was sending mixing signals because if you watch that scene again, Dave as they're taking off their jackets, Keith is kind of like reaching his hand to like go around David's waist.
• 53:51
SPEAKER_02: So he's and his lips are pursed, like he's ready to kiss him.
• 53:56
SPEAKER_00: Like he's insinuating that like he's agreeing, like he's consenting.
• 53:59
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, right.
• 54:01
SPEAKER_02: So it's not far-fetched to think like that he's okay with this.
• 54:06
SPEAKER_02: So then that's why like it kind of comes as a shock to him, to the viewers, when Keith is like, This is not why I came here.
• 54:15
SPEAKER_00: Like, I just want to be friends, and I wanted to talk.
• 54:18
  SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, not really.
• 54:21
SPEAKER_00: And David was like, Can't we just have sex?
• 54:23
SPEAKER_00: It doesn't have to mean anything.
• 54:24
SPEAKER_02: That was so desperate though.
• 54:26
  SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
• 54:27
SPEAKER_02: Like, I would have walked out too.
• 54:28
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Keith just tells David to take care of himself and leaves.
• 54:33
SPEAKER_02: I mean, like realistically, who kind of wants to be with that person anyway?
• 54:38
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 54:39
SPEAKER_00: But in this really awkward scene as it ends, um, we go back to actually we go back to Nikolai and Ruth, and we're seeing that shots are being passed around, like multiple shots on a platter to like a bunch of people, and the camera starts panning over to Ruth and Ruth with her hair down, and Nikolai like dancing amongst a crowd of people.
• 55:02
SPEAKER_02: It's like yeah, it's like a totally different Ruth.
• 55:07
SPEAKER_00: Although she does take her hair down when she's with um Hiram too when they were camping.
• 55:13
  SPEAKER_02: I guess.
• 55:14
SPEAKER_02: But like in public and dancing, it just it just seems so so out of character for her.
• 55:22
  SPEAKER_00: I agree.
• 55:24
SPEAKER_00: And then she takes a break and she has like that moment that we all have when we're at like a club or a place where you dance or have a good time, and you kind of like you go to the bathroom, you stare in the mirror with your hands on the counter, and you're just like, huh, like wow, I'm alive.
• 55:39
SPEAKER_00: You know, you like have to check in with yourself in the mirror for a minute.
• 55:42
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, she's having one of those, and one of those women, like one of the Russian women that like walked over to the table earlier, walks out of the stall and goes, You fucking bitch.
• 55:52
SPEAKER_02: Can I ask you what you meant to write though?
• 55:56
SPEAKER_02: From earlier calls her the line above that, where it says had that moment with Herschel Finn in the bathroom.
• 56:05
  SPEAKER_00: Oh Herschel Finn.
• 56:09
SPEAKER_02: Herschel Finn, herself in okay, that's kind of what I thought, but then I was like, Am I?
• 56:16
SPEAKER_00: No, but it's Herschel Finn.
• 56:17
  SPEAKER_02: Well, Herschel Finn, okay.
• 56:19
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so in my show notes, I wrote had that moment with herself in the bathroom while one of the women from earlier calls her a fucking rip your heart out, yeah.
• 56:28
SPEAKER_00: And so that's also nice to finish.
• 56:31
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 56:31
SPEAKER_00: And that was a very strange scene.
• 56:34
SPEAKER_00: Um, after she gets called a fucking bitch, I think it cuts back to like a different scene of somebody else.
• 56:44
SPEAKER_02: I think it actually cuts back to um I mean it might, but like we we should just do the bathroom scene as one.
• 56:51
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you're right.
• 56:52
SPEAKER_00: Okay, so after being called a fucking bitch by that woman, um the woman explains how like she had been seeing Nicolai for a little bit, and they like kept going to the movies and watching these boring movies.
• 57:03
SPEAKER_00: Like, she was trying to spend time with him, get to know him, and he was just like trying to watch some fucking Scooby-Doo the movie in theaters.
• 57:11
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, uh Freddy Prince do your movies.
• 57:15
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 57:16
SPEAKER_00: And in my head, I'm like, excuse me, Scooby-Doo the movie and Scooby-Too 2 Monsters Unleash is such a classic.
• 57:24
  SPEAKER_00: Like, come on now.
• 57:26
SPEAKER_00: But anyway, that's just my opinion.
• 57:29
SPEAKER_00: Um, and so Ruth realizes that, like, oh shit, she just kind of like invaded in on like somebody else's.
• 57:37
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, because this the woman is like, Do you love him?
• 57:40
SPEAKER_02: Are you gonna marry him?
• 57:42
SPEAKER_02: And Ruth is like, no, like, I do not want to get married.
• 57:46
SPEAKER_02: That is the last thing I want.
• 57:48
  SPEAKER_02: Like, he's my boss, he's right.
• 57:50
SPEAKER_02: She's like, I'm I'm working, I have things that I never thought I'd have, and and she she realizes I guess more so what she wants and what she doesn't want, and I love how she's like she gives her a hug and she's like, Thank you for helping me see at this funny little restaurant with like like the words that come out of Ruth's mouth, they're so simple, but they're entertaining.
• 58:20
SPEAKER_02: But yeah, so now they yeah, they're good, yeah.
• 58:24
SPEAKER_00: And then Ruth kind of thanks to woman for yelling at her in the bathroom, and just she's like, Okay, I think I'm just gonna go back outside, tell Nicola I had a great time and leave.
• 58:36
SPEAKER_00: She was like, Thank you, and she's like all enlightened and shit.
• 58:40
SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, and we start getting bits and scenes of Claire.
• 58:46
SPEAKER_00: Um, Claire's at home, Claire's just looking for a reason to break down and cry as Nate walks in.
• 58:51
SPEAKER_00: Nate Nate notices something's wrong.
• 58:53
SPEAKER_00: Claire's like, I have a hole in my sock.
• 58:57
SPEAKER_00: I made a big typo, I just fixed it, guys.
• 59:00
SPEAKER_02: No, I was realizing that we missed the whole um Keith and David conversation, but it doesn't even matter.
• 59:08
SPEAKER_00: No, we did talk about this.
• 59:10
SPEAKER_02: Well, yeah, but we just didn't talk about the whole like how they talked about roots, but it doesn't matter.
• 59:19
SPEAKER_00: Oh, this one, like that, that was super super close.
• 59:22
SPEAKER_00: Like that's how Keith was trying to talk to David before talking about the taco being horrible.
• 59:28
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it and then yeah, yeah, because Keith's like, How's how's your mom?
• 59:34
SPEAKER_00: And David's like, she's dating people, and then Keith's like, Well, people should be with people, and David's like, Yeah, but sometimes people are just too stupid to know.
• 59:42
SPEAKER_00: Like, meaning realizes he was wrong, yeah, yeah.
• 59:46
SPEAKER_00: In tipped, but yeah, Claire's crying about a hole in her sock, and Nate's like, Okay, time to be a big brother, and he starts consoling her and talking about Gabe.
• 59:56
SPEAKER_00: Um, he asks if Gabe's her boyfriend, and she said, No, but he just needs me.
• 1:00:00
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but he also realizes he's like, Aren't you supposed to be out having fun?
• 1:00:05
SPEAKER_02: Because like we covered for you, and then that's when she's like with her finger in the sock, and she's like, It's got a hole.
• 1:00:12
SPEAKER_02: She's like so stuck right there.
• 1:00:17
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, she when she's talking about Gabe to Nate, she says, like, in reference to being with Gabe, she said, It's the first time in my life where I felt important, and then Nate's like Nate says to Claire, like, but I need you, yeah.
• 1:00:32
SPEAKER_02: And she she says something also like the first time where she's not just kind of oh, I forgot how she put it, but like wasting space or being annoying.
• 1:00:41
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, just kind of there, and it I feel like it's also exactly the way the show has portrayed her in the last few episodes, yeah, where she's just there, you know, not really she's just taking away from the other scenes, and that's kind of what she means too.
• 1:01:00
SPEAKER_00: She's just getting in the way of other people's lives, right?
• 1:01:04
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and so Nate calls her out in a way, but like in a caring way, not like a negative way, and he's saying that um that he that Claire is just kind of blaming her sadness right now on the Gabe situation, but really it's more about losing their dad, and this is her reaction to losing their dad and her grieving process.
• 1:01:32
SPEAKER_00: And she says something like, Can I just be upset without talking about what's actually making me upset?
• 1:01:36
SPEAKER_00: Right, and Nate just starts sympathizing with her, and it was it was a really nice like brother-sister scene, especially since they had like the biggest age gap and they didn't grow up together, yeah.
• 1:01:50
SPEAKER_02: As we learned in episode, Nate is supposed to be like what in his mid-30s, yeah.
• 1:01:55
SPEAKER_00: He's 34 because he says some shit like yeah, in my 34 years of life, like blah blah blah to her in this conversation, and she's like 16, right?
• 1:02:04
  SPEAKER_00: So that's enough of a gap.
• 1:02:06
  SPEAKER_02: That's like 18 years, yeah.
• 1:02:09
SPEAKER_00: Because he was saying when I went to college, she was born.
• 1:02:12
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he said that to Brenda, I think.
• 1:02:15
  SPEAKER_00: At some point, yeah.
• 1:02:19
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so you know, um, speaking of which, uh, speaking of how I met your mother, we were talking about that.
• 1:02:25
SPEAKER_00: I forgot if that was the pre-show or if that was the beginning of this episode.
• 1:02:28
  SPEAKER_02: Um, I think it was a pre-show.
• 1:02:30
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but you know how Barney always says nothing good happens after 2 a.m.
• 1:02:34
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, well, I think no, that was Ted's mom, which was played by the cousin in this show, the weirdo cousin with the spin class.
• 1:02:45
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 1:02:47
  SPEAKER_00: Wow.
• 1:02:48
SPEAKER_00: Okay, well, anyway, nothing good happens after 2 a.m.
• 1:02:51
  SPEAKER_00: for David.
• 1:02:52
SPEAKER_00: Um, David decides after this like situation that he just went through with Keith that he needs to get off, period.
• 1:02:59
SPEAKER_00: And so he calls up something called name connection at 1976 come now, which isn't even a real phone number because it needs an extra digit, but anyway.
• 1:03:11
SPEAKER_02: I was I was about to say, how the fuck do you know that?
• 1:03:14
SPEAKER_00: But okay, maybe if it's now with an S, there would be the four numbers at the end.
• 1:03:22
  SPEAKER_02: Uh yeah, okay.
• 1:03:23
SPEAKER_02: I just kind of looked at it and I'm like, come on, show right, and and you just hear David on the phone, and he's just like making up this whole persona, but it's so scripted.
• 1:03:39
SPEAKER_02: Oh, absolutely, it was so oddly scripted and like stiff even.
• 1:03:44
  SPEAKER_00: That's what I mean.
• 1:03:45
SPEAKER_00: Like it was it was deadpan, but deadpan.
• 1:03:52
SPEAKER_02: We don't even get to see Deadpan's funeral.
• 1:03:55
SPEAKER_02: No, you don't you don't know anything about him except about his Astoria lamp and the fact that she killed him because he was boring and people don't have order numbers and they don't remember who they spoke to.
• 1:04:08
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, weird, yeah, but uh but yeah, he's like I'm a 290-pound wrestler.
• 1:04:17
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I forgot he says how many inches he's like an uncut and cut, yeah.
• 1:04:24
SPEAKER_00: It was all bullshit, but like he's he starts like, but he's very like like demanding.
• 1:04:33
  SPEAKER_00: Like, what's that called?
• 1:04:35
SPEAKER_00: Hold on, like not dominatrix.
• 1:04:39
SPEAKER_00: What what am I thinking of?
• 1:04:40
SPEAKER_00: Uh like it's like dominant, like he's acting very, very dominant in that situation.
• 1:04:45
SPEAKER_00: Whereas like in life, I feel like he's more he's like tightly wound, but I wouldn't call him dominant.
• 1:04:53
SPEAKER_00: I would say he like falls back in situations, but he is like very tightly wound in his personal life, right?
• 1:05:02
SPEAKER_00: Like in his day-to-day life.
• 1:05:03
SPEAKER_00: I mean, so it was weird to see him just be so demanding in that scene.
• 1:05:09
SPEAKER_02: It's kind of like um the precursor to the internet trolls, how like they can be who they want on the internet because there's no accountability, and so David's like, cool, I'm gonna call 976 come now, and I can be anybody I want to be, but it's not who he would ever be in person.
• 1:05:30
  SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, yeah.
• 1:05:31
SPEAKER_00: So Brenda and Nate are now talking.
• 1:05:34
  SPEAKER_00: Um, Nate's actually at Brenda's house.
• 1:05:36
SPEAKER_00: He's trying to talk to her about what's going on with Billy, and Brenda's just trying to go to bed.
• 1:05:42
SPEAKER_00: Um, Nate says that he calmed down about like the pictures being taken, and he asks her to talk about Billy because she says something like, Oh, I've been talking about him for days.
• 1:05:53
SPEAKER_00: And Nate's like, well, what's going on with her?
• 1:05:55
SPEAKER_00: What's going on with Billy?
• 1:05:56
SPEAKER_00: And she's like, I'm just too tired to talk about it.
• 1:05:59
SPEAKER_00: And then he says something really, he says something really like nice and sweet, and he's like, I love you and I need you, and it's okay for you to need me too.
• 1:06:11
SPEAKER_00: But then Brenda says some shit like I'm doing the best I can.
• 1:06:15
SPEAKER_02: So here's the thing, right?
• 1:06:18
SPEAKER_02: I understand that Brenda has all these fucking issues, but when we first When they have like their first argument about the picture, Brenda's like, Oh, it's not all about you, but um, can he just have this one?
• 1:06:37
SPEAKER_02: Because it kind of is about him.
• 1:06:40
SPEAKER_02: It's about the fact that Billy took a picture of him pissing on a wall without him knowing, and then published it.
• 1:06:47
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so can you just for once let it be about him?
• 1:06:58
SPEAKER_02: Maybe there's other things that are not about him, but uh yeah, some of this is about him, plain and simple, and he should be allowed to be angry.
• 1:07:10
SPEAKER_02: Uh my my two cents, but no, it's true.
• 1:07:14
  SPEAKER_00: I agree.
• 1:07:17
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I don't know.
• 1:07:18
  SPEAKER_02: Brenda's just whatever.
• 1:07:20
  SPEAKER_02: I like I don't know.
• 1:07:23
SPEAKER_02: Everything she says is kind of like you gotta take it with a little bit of salt, which is the way the expression is.
• 1:07:28
SPEAKER_00: It's like she's avoiding something when she talks, and she's just still like hates being so vulnerable with her and honest with her, and she's still being super coy and passive about what she actually feels.
• 1:07:42
  SPEAKER_01: Right.
• 1:07:43
SPEAKER_00: We will we actually this is our last scene with um Nate and Brenda for this episode, so no, it's not not yet.
• 1:07:54
  SPEAKER_02: The next morning.
• 1:07:58
  SPEAKER_02: Her mom shows up.
• 1:08:00
  SPEAKER_00: Oh, you're right.
• 1:08:01
  SPEAKER_00: Okay, never mind.
• 1:08:02
  SPEAKER_00: Never mind.
• 1:08:05
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, you're right.
• 1:08:07
  SPEAKER_00: Okay, never mind.
• 1:08:08
SPEAKER_00: Um I like hold on.
• 1:08:11
SPEAKER_00: I know I watched that, I can't find it in my notes.
• 1:08:15
SPEAKER_00: But I wrote that down.
• 1:08:17
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it was like at the the before.
• 1:08:19
SPEAKER_00: Okay, it's literally right here.
• 1:08:21
SPEAKER_00: Um we actually go right into that scene.
• 1:08:24
SPEAKER_00: Um, the next thing in my notes, I wrote down what happens immediately after Brenda and Aid's conversation.
• 1:08:30
SPEAKER_00: Um, David go down David goes downstairs.
• 1:08:33
SPEAKER_00: It's the day of the funeral for one of their dead people.
• 1:08:38
SPEAKER_00: And Angela says some shit to David, and immediately he goes, You're fired.
• 1:08:42
SPEAKER_02: I forgot what she says, but yeah.
• 1:08:45
SPEAKER_00: She says something, and it's just so like backhanded and raw and unnecessary.
• 1:08:52
SPEAKER_00: And he just looks up and goes, You're fired.
• 1:08:54
SPEAKER_00: Oh no, she's like rough night, huh?
• 1:08:58
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 1:08:59
SPEAKER_00: Which I don't I don't know what that means, like unless she's just super intuitive, but well, I think she is.
• 1:09:06
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, yeah, maybe, but immediately he just goes, You're fired.
• 1:09:12
SPEAKER_00: And so we go immediately back to Brenda and Ace, and we see that Brenda's mom is like knocking on like the side of the house window or something like that, and she's like, Brenda, I'm here.
• 1:09:25
SPEAKER_00: Let me in, with like a voice like that.
• 1:09:28
SPEAKER_00: And her mom has brought over spontaneous brunch.
• 1:09:31
  SPEAKER_00: Brenda's like, you don't do spontaneous.
• 1:09:33
  SPEAKER_02: She's like, that's not a thing.
• 1:09:35
SPEAKER_00: And she's like, and since when do you do anything?
• 1:09:37
SPEAKER_00: You don't have like the housekeepers do it.
• 1:09:40
  SPEAKER_01: Right.
• 1:09:41
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 1:09:42
SPEAKER_00: Brenda then tells her mom that she couldn't convince Billy to admit himself, and her mom gets super angry about it.
• 1:09:49
SPEAKER_00: Um, and in and tries to make Brenda feel bad about what she couldn't do by turning around that Billy tried to commit suicide story.
• 1:10:02
SPEAKER_00: Um, which I'm going to take this as truth because, or and we should take this as truth, because we don't know anything else that happens after this, right?
• 1:10:11
SPEAKER_00: Like this is what we right.
• 1:10:14
SPEAKER_02: I mean, but we do know that her parents are they're also kind of manipulative.
• 1:10:23
SPEAKER_02: So just because they for me, right?
• 1:10:25
SPEAKER_02: I mean, I don't know, because I haven't seen anything past this, but I would think just because they say something, it might be true, but doesn't necessarily make it true.
• 1:10:35
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but Brenda might be true, yeah, and and that's something to just keep in the back of your head.
• 1:10:42
SPEAKER_00: The fact that maybe it's true, maybe it's not.
• 1:10:44
SPEAKER_00: But Brenda's mom starts telling Brenda about the summer Billy tried to commit suicide, and that he wasn't actually trying to commit suicide.
• 1:10:52
SPEAKER_00: And Brenda's like, well, Doy like told me that afterwards, and her mom's like, No, you don't understand.
• 1:10:58
SPEAKER_00: Like the summer that you were in Europe, Billy set the house on fire.
• 1:11:01
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he was making a bomb.
• 1:11:03
  SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
• 1:11:05
SPEAKER_00: And apparently they found like notes of Billy's, and he had written ugly, violent things about your father and I and you.
• 1:11:14
SPEAKER_00: That's what Brenda's mom said to her.
• 1:11:16
SPEAKER_00: And then Brenda's mom ended that whole thing by saying that she was only trying to protect her.
• 1:11:21
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and she was like, Oh, because remember that we had the house reads on, and it was because of that.
• 1:11:28
SPEAKER_02: But I mean, you could have just had the house reads on.
• 1:11:35
  SPEAKER_02: I mean, that's all I'm saying.
• 1:11:36
SPEAKER_02: Like, Brenda wasn't there, and so the only person right now whose word we have, oh, it's bothering me that I can't remember her name, but yeah.
• 1:11:46
  SPEAKER_02: Is is her.
• 1:11:47
SPEAKER_02: So it's like, okay, you know, keep this in our back pocket for later and see what happens with it.
• 1:11:55
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and Brenda's extremely distraught, tells her mom to get out of her house, calls her a lymphatic, and ends that scene by telling her mom, you have no idea what you've done to me.
• 1:12:06
SPEAKER_00: Um, as she's walking out, Nate's trying to call after her.
• 1:12:08
SPEAKER_00: But this is when David calls Nate and starts telling him, like, yeah, so I fired Angela, and uh one needs somebody else.
• 1:12:16
  SPEAKER_00: What should we do?
• 1:12:17
SPEAKER_00: Should we call one of those other people who we interviewed?
• 1:12:20
SPEAKER_00: And then Nate's like, no, I got a plan.
• 1:12:24
SPEAKER_00: So we're gonna pause on Nate's plan for a second, and um, we go back to Claire.
• 1:12:29
SPEAKER_00: She walks back into schools the next day, and she's walking in the hallways, the same hallway that we saw her with Gabe and Andy the day before.
• 1:12:38
  SPEAKER_02: Right, right.
• 1:12:39
SPEAKER_02: Like where his locker is.
• 1:12:40
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and we see that his locker is actually left ajar, it's empty, yes, ajar, and it's empty, and it's empty, yeah, and it just I got a really eerie feeling.
• 1:12:54
  SPEAKER_00: I'm sure.
• 1:12:54
SPEAKER_00: Well, it looks like Claire got an eerie feeling.
• 1:12:57
SPEAKER_00: That was the point of this.
• 1:12:59
SPEAKER_00: Getting back to Nate, Nate actually goes to talk to Rico, and Rico is not happy at Galardi.
• 1:13:10
SPEAKER_02: Gillardi, Galardi Gillardi, I think.
• 1:13:14
  SPEAKER_02: Galardi, yeah.
• 1:13:16
SPEAKER_00: He tells like Rico tells Nate, like, look, I'm not happy, like they lied about my hours, blah blah blah.
• 1:13:21
SPEAKER_00: Like, I have like 12 people breathing down my neck, and Nate's like, well, it would only be two if you come back.
• 1:13:27
SPEAKER_00: And um, Nate actually like gets Rico to agree to come back on the stipulation that Rico gets paid the same.
• 1:13:36
SPEAKER_00: He has flexible hours so that's why he could like be there for his sons.
• 1:13:40
SPEAKER_00: And um, he tries to also say that he wants to become partner, but Nate says something that's perfect, and he's like, Well, you could become partner only if you marry Claire.
• 1:13:51
SPEAKER_00: Yes, and that's like Nate's way of pretty much saying, like, it's a family business, like, right, right.
• 1:13:59
SPEAKER_00: You're not part of the family, but you are like family, and Rigo doesn't even try to fight it.
• 1:14:04
SPEAKER_00: He's like, Okay, well, I don't officially work for you either, but I'm still gonna come back, but I don't officially work for you.
• 1:14:11
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, and and he's gonna start in a couple days.
• 1:14:16
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so hopefully by the next episode we should see him, right?
• 1:14:20
  SPEAKER_02: I hope I would think so.
• 1:14:22
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, um, so Claire.
• 1:14:27
  SPEAKER_00: Claire.
• 1:14:28
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we're actually gonna pause on Claire, even though Angela, yeah.
• 1:14:33
  SPEAKER_00: Okay, yeah.
• 1:14:35
SPEAKER_00: Angela's walking out of the house.
• 1:14:37
SPEAKER_02: Because shit and all her paper bags, yeah.
• 1:14:40
SPEAKER_00: David fires her and she's got all her shit and it spills all over the floor.
• 1:14:44
SPEAKER_00: She calls herself a nestor, and Ruth sees her, like trying to pick up her shit and tries to help her.
• 1:14:51
SPEAKER_00: And Angela admits to breaking the goblet.
• 1:14:54
SPEAKER_00: And she says something like, you know, this is like unlike me because like whatever's on my lung is on my tongue, but like I just didn't want to say something about this, like it just didn't feel right.
• 1:15:04
SPEAKER_00: And she's pretty much like touching on the the fragile vibe of the Fisher family, yeah.
• 1:15:10
SPEAKER_00: And she she ends her conversation with Ruth and she ends her time in the Fisher um household by saying something like, you know, this is the most depressing funeral home company that I've ever worked for, which was just weird.
• 1:15:24
SPEAKER_00: Like, oh and in that conversation, something really, really important happens.
• 1:15:29
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 1:15:30
SPEAKER_02: Because she says she tells Ruth that all she tried to do was to fix David up with this guy.
• 1:15:37
SPEAKER_02: Um, and then she she never met anyone who was so uptight about being gay.
• 1:15:44
SPEAKER_00: But um just like like it looked like Ruth was about to like throw up or cry.
• 1:15:52
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I don't I don't even know what was going through her brain.
• 1:15:55
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, she got all flushed and she was just like but Ruth Ruth is also not stupid.
• 1:16:01
SPEAKER_02: I think that she was finally putting two and two together because remember when they were at breakfast and they were all talking about who, oh, who are you seeing, and who are you seeing, and um Nate's like, oh, but it's Saturday.
• 1:16:14
SPEAKER_02: Are you going out with that uh person again?
• 1:16:19
SPEAKER_02: And Ruth had her back to them, but I feel like and she she didn't even let them finish eating breakfast, and she was like, Okay, I'm ready for church.
• 1:16:29
  SPEAKER_00: Yep.
• 1:16:30
SPEAKER_02: So I feel like she was already starting to kind of have an inclination, and then that maybe that solidified it, but I don't know.
• 1:16:44
SPEAKER_02: Like, I feel like Ruth already had a a feeling.
• 1:16:48
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 1:16:50
SPEAKER_00: So now our episode's almost over.
• 1:16:55
SPEAKER_00: We see Claire going to Gabe's mom's house to check up on like where he is, and Claire's having a conversation with Gabe's mom and says, like, oh, you know, being that he went to his dad's house, like I was supposed to build with him, but then he left before me.
• 1:17:08
SPEAKER_00: Like, can I just get his dad's number so so I can call him and check up on like how he is?
• 1:17:12
SPEAKER_00: And the mom's really confused on top of just like still grieving her son and being most likely drunk.
• 1:17:18
SPEAKER_00: Um, because like she's she has a drinking problem now.
• 1:17:22
SPEAKER_00: Um, she's like, Gabe's dad's been dead for four, like since he was four years old.
• 1:17:27
SPEAKER_02: Since he was four, yeah.
• 1:17:29
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 1:17:30
SPEAKER_00: And before she shuts the door on Claire, she's like, Oh, and if you should run into Gabe, um, tell him that I don't appreciate that he's slept out for so long or something like that.
• 1:17:40
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 1:17:41
SPEAKER_00: And as she's closing, like the mother's closing the door, Claire's realizing like what's happening.
• 1:17:46
SPEAKER_00: She's right, she's like replaying his voicemail in her head.
• 1:17:50
SPEAKER_00: And she like pauses on that like goodbye Claire part.
• 1:17:54
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Claire's finally realizing what's going on in this situation, which it's kind of insinuating that like Gabe drove somewhere to kill himself.
• 1:18:03
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean, and and earlier in the episode, he makes he tells Claire how his mother won't even look at him.
• 1:18:12
SPEAKER_02: And in the scene where he's talking to Andy before Claire joins them, that Andy's trying to get him to go to a party.
• 1:18:21
SPEAKER_02: And when Gabe is like, no, I don't really feel up to him, he's like, fine, they don't want you there anyway.
• 1:18:26
SPEAKER_02: So it's like, you know, Gabe still, I'm sure, is beating himself up over what happened.
• 1:18:32
SPEAKER_02: But then, and not that Claire doesn't matter, right?
• 1:18:36
SPEAKER_02: But to have his mom not supporting him, to have his friend Andy, who's supposed to be his friend, kind of shitting on him.
• 1:18:46
SPEAKER_02: Like you you feel even more for him because at the end of the day, yeah, he we met him and he was a dick, but he's still a kid.
• 1:18:56
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you know, he's a kid, so it's yeah, it's I really want to look at the next episode, but I obviously have not.
• 1:19:10
SPEAKER_00: Um I saw the HVAP.
• 1:19:12
  SPEAKER_00: Okay.
• 1:19:13
SPEAKER_02: And I feel like this is the first cliffhanger we've had.
• 1:19:17
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, for a bit.
• 1:19:18
  SPEAKER_00: Right?
• 1:19:19
SPEAKER_02: Because I don't remember there being another cliffhanger.
• 1:19:24
SPEAKER_00: The next episode, episode 11, is actually called The Trip.
• 1:19:29
SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, and even the um what is that called?
• 1:19:35
  SPEAKER_00: Not the thumbnail.
• 1:19:36
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the thumbnail of the episode, it doesn't reference the scene at all.
• 1:19:41
SPEAKER_02: So but yeah, and then the other the only like I didn't really have um a gravedigger.
• 1:19:55
SPEAKER_02: I mean, I didn't like I don't know, nothing really stood out to me.
• 1:20:01
SPEAKER_02: Like Andy is the shittiest person, but but like I don't really want to give him that much power.
• 1:20:08
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I would even like for a second I was thinking maybe Claire would be my gravedigger again, or I know she was your gravedigger last time, but then I realized like she just she cares a lot because she's taking all her energy and her emotions from losing her father and she's putting that into somebody else.
• 1:20:26
  SPEAKER_02: I got it.
• 1:20:28
  SPEAKER_00: What's up?
• 1:20:29
SPEAKER_02: It's Keith because of the taco, no, because of his mixed messages, and like and not not just because he said no, but because he was like so appalled almost, but it's like nobody, you don't you don't get to be like indignant that he wants to fuck you when you were kissing him and and you went back up to his apartment and then immediately proceeded to like kiss him.
• 1:21:04
SPEAKER_02: So you don't get to be like this is not what I wanted.
• 1:21:09
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, you're right.
• 1:21:11
  SPEAKER_02: So it's Keith.
• 1:21:12
  SPEAKER_02: For me, it's Keith.
• 1:21:13
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's for me it's Keith too, but for other reasons.
• 1:21:17
SPEAKER_00: Because of the taco, because of the taco, that did it for me.
• 1:21:20
SPEAKER_00: Everything else again, like I don't want to see Keith anymore, I'm done.
• 1:21:25
SPEAKER_00: But speaking of being done, that is the end of this episode, yeah.
• 1:21:29
SPEAKER_02: So they think that the title, the new person, just referred to Angela.
• 1:21:36
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, maybe because I had a little, little, little bit of something else.
• 1:21:43
  SPEAKER_00: Oh, explain.
• 1:21:46
SPEAKER_02: I feel like the Fishers all kind of showed another side of themselves.
• 1:21:53
SPEAKER_02: So while they're not completely new people per se, but I mean, look at Ruth kind of out and about with Nikolai dancing and and hair down and in the funny little restaurant, and with the lady in the in the bathroom, and like kind of saying exactly what she wants, and you see David in this kind of assertive side of himself, and then even with Keith, he's still kind of telling him exactly what he wants, maybe not totally in a great way, but you see Claire, who's more or less starting to come into her own.
• 1:22:34
SPEAKER_00: And I guess Nate was taking on the role of like an older brother to her, which was new for him.
• 1:22:39
  SPEAKER_02: Yes.
• 1:22:40
SPEAKER_02: Oh, I almost like, yeah, I don't know about Nate, but I think he just nailed it.
• 1:22:44
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and they don't take well to new people because Angela, I mean, okay, you know, she left a lot to be desired, but she she did great work, and that's what they hired her to do.
• 1:23:00
SPEAKER_02: But they they couldn't handle it, especially David.
• 1:23:05
SPEAKER_02: But um, but yeah, so that was my little take on it.
• 1:23:09
SPEAKER_02: Because I always have to try to find a secondary meaning, you know, and Claire the caretaker.
• 1:23:17
  SPEAKER_00: Claire the caretaker.
• 1:23:20
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, oh, and Tracy with her new hairdo.
• 1:23:25
SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, she's reaching, but um, yeah, but that's I think like I don't really have a lot of notes for this episode, so that's that's it for me.
• 1:23:39
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's it for me too.
• 1:23:41
SPEAKER_02: Until the next one, right?
• 1:23:42
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so uh as as you guys know, our socials are still at least as of this recording, Facebook keeps telling me that I have but so many days left to disagree with my decision, to disagree with their decision.
• 1:24:00
SPEAKER_02: But you did, but I did, and the decision is that you let my account get fucking hacked, anyhow.
• 1:24:09
  SPEAKER_02: But yeah, so assassinsips.com.
• 1:24:11
SPEAKER_02: I'm not sure what's gonna happen with the existing socials aside from like Twitter, but um, once we have an update, you guys will have an update.
