Restoring Rhode Island’s Largest Pipe Organ | Providence News

Grace Episcopal Church, founded in 1829 and designed by architectural legends Richard Upjohn and Ralph Adams Cram, is reviving its historic pipe organ — a monumental instrument with pipes dating back to 1886 and more added through the decades. Some pipes are even being shipped to Canada for restoration, as part of a full-scale rebuild that’s replacing a temporary digital setup. When completed by December, the restored organ will boast over 6,300 pipes, including vintage pieces from 1912, 1923, and 1959, making it the largest pipe organ in Rhode Island.
