- 0:00Speaker 1: You don't have to move at the world's speed. Slow down.
- 0:03Speaker 1: Get focused. Keep moving. 10-Minute Motivation. October 8th, 2026. Welcome
- 0:09Speaker 1: to your 10-Minute Motivation. Today, I want you to hear
- 0:12Speaker 1: something you probably aren't hearing enough. You don't have to
- 0:15Speaker 1: keep up with everything. Look around. Everything is moving faster.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Technology is moving faster. Artificial intelligence is moving faster. Business
- 0:24Speaker 1: is moving faster. The news cycle is moving faster. People
- 0:28Speaker 1: are making money faster, losing money faster, getting famous faster,
- 0:32Speaker 1: getting forgotten faster. Every time you open your phone, somebody
- 0:36Speaker 1: seems to be accomplishing something. Somebody started a business. Somebody
- 0:40Speaker 1: bought a house. Somebody transformed their body. Somebody made a
- 0:44Speaker 1: million dollars. Somebody learned a new skill. Somebody has a
- 0:47Speaker 1: new relationship. Somebody's traveling. Somebody's winning. And without realizing it,
- 0:52Speaker 1: you start asking yourself, am I falling behind? Today, stop
- 0:56Speaker 1: asking that question. because life is not a race against
- 0:59Speaker 1: everybody you can see on your screen. Your job is
- 1:02Speaker 1: not to move at the world's speed. Your job is
- 1:04Speaker 1: to move with purpose. Fast doesn't always mean forward. Think
- 1:08Speaker 1: about that. You can run incredibly fast in the wrong direction.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Speed isn't the same thing as progress. Activity isn't the
- 1:15Speaker 1: same thing as accomplishment. Being busy isn't the same thing
- 1:18Speaker 1: as building something meaningful. Some people are exhausted every night
- 1:21Speaker 1: but can't tell you what they're actually building. Phone calls, emails, messages, notifications, appointments, Scrolling, running, responding, reacting.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Then they collapse into bed and do it again tomorrow.
- 1:33Speaker 1: That's not necessarily progress. Sometimes it's just motion. And if
- 1:37Speaker 1: you're not careful, you can spend years being incredibly busy
- 1:40Speaker 1: while moving further away from the person you actually wanted
- 1:43Speaker 1: to become. So today, ask yourself a better question. Not,
- 1:47Speaker 1: how fast am I going? Ask, am I going in
- 1:50Speaker 1: the right direction? Because I'd rather take 10 slow steps
- 1:53Speaker 1: toward the right destination than sprint 100 miles toward the
- 1:56Speaker 1: wrong one. The pressure to keep up, one of the
- 1:59Speaker 1: biggest problems today is comparison. And comparison has changed. 30
- 2:03Speaker 1: years ago, you might compare yourself with your neighbor. Today,
- 2:06Speaker 1: you compare yourself with the entire planet. Think about how
- 2:09Speaker 1: ridiculous that is. You open social media and compare your
- 2:12Speaker 1: finances with a millionaire, your body with a professional athlete,
- 2:16Speaker 1: your vacation with a travel influencer, your business with somebody
- 2:19Speaker 1: who's been building theirs for 20 years, your marriage with
- 2:22Speaker 1: somebody's carefully selected photographs. Your ordinary Tuesday was somebody else's
- 2:26Speaker 1: greatest moment of the year. Then you wonder why you
- 2:29Speaker 1: feel inadequate. You're playing a game you cannot win. Because
- 2:32Speaker 1: there will always be somebody ahead of you. Always. Somebody richer, stronger, younger,
- 2:38Speaker 1: more successful, more popular, more talented. But here's the good news.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Their life isn't your assignment. Yours is. You are not late.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Maybe you think you're behind. You thought you'd have more
- 2:49Speaker 1: money by now. You thought the business would be bigger.
- 2:52Speaker 1: You thought you'd be further along. You thought the relationship
- 2:55Speaker 1: would have worked. You thought you'd have everything figured out.
- 2:58Speaker 1: And now you look at your age and think, I
- 2:59Speaker 1: should be further ahead. According to Who's timetable, some of
- 3:03Speaker 1: the greatest chapters of your life may not have happened yet.
- 3:06Speaker 1: People change careers at 40, start businesses at 50, get
- 3:09Speaker 1: into incredible shape at 60, discover new purpose at 70,
- 3:13Speaker 1: repair relationships after decades, write books late in life, rebuild
- 3:18Speaker 1: after bankruptcy, recover after failure, start again after everybody thought
- 3:22Speaker 1: the story was finished. Stop treating your age like an
- 3:25Speaker 1: expiration date. You are alive. Therefore, there is still something
- 3:28Speaker 1: you can do. Your next move doesn't have to be huge.
- 3:31Speaker 1: We have become addicted to dramatic transformations. Lose 50 pounds.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Make a million dollars. Completely change your life. Build the company.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Write the book. Fix everything. But most real transformation doesn't
- 3:43Speaker 1: happen dramatically. It happens quietly. A person walks for 20
- 3:47Speaker 1: minutes today, then again tomorrow. Someone saves $ 20, then does
- 3:51Speaker 1: it again. Someone reads 10 pages, then another 10. Someone
- 3:56Speaker 1: stops drinking. One day, then another. Someone wakes up 30
- 4:00Speaker 1: minutes earlier. Someone finally makes the phone call. Someone sends
- 4:03Speaker 1: the application. Someone apologizes. Someone says, I'm starting again. Those
- 4:08Speaker 1: decisions don't look impressive on social media, but repeated consistently,
- 4:12Speaker 1: they can change a life. Your life is largely the
- 4:15Speaker 1: accumulated result of small decisions repeated long enough. So stop
- 4:19Speaker 1: waiting for one giant breakthrough. Maybe your breakthrough is going
- 4:22Speaker 1: to arrive disguised as a routine. Control the next hour.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Here's something practical. When life feels overwhelming, shrink the battlefield.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Don't solve the next 10 years. Handle the next hour.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Ask yourself, what is the single most useful thing I
- 4:36Speaker 1: can do in the next 60 minutes? Not 17 things. One.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Maybe you need to exercise. Maybe you need to finish
- 4:42Speaker 1: the work you've been avoiding. Maybe you need to clean
- 4:45Speaker 1: your house. Maybe you need to call somebody. Maybe you
- 4:48Speaker 1: need to create the budget. Maybe you need to sit
- 4:50Speaker 1: quietly and think. Maybe you need to pray. Maybe you
- 4:53Speaker 1: simply need to put the phone somewhere else. Do one thing.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Finish it. Then choose the next thing. That's how mountains
- 4:59Speaker 1: get climbed. Nobody takes one gigantic step from the bottom
- 5:02Speaker 1: to the summit. Step, step, step, step, and eventually you
- 5:06Speaker 1: turn around and can't believe how far you've traveled. Stop
- 5:09Speaker 1: letting your phone set your priorities. This one might hurt.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Every notification is somebody else asking for control of your attention.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Think about it. Buzz. Look at me. Ding. Look at me.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Breaking news, look at me. New message, look at me.
- 5:24Speaker 1: New video, look at me. And every time you respond automatically,
- 5:28Speaker 1: you're training yourself to let other people decide what gets
- 5:30Speaker 1: your attention. Attention is one of your most valuable possessions
- 5:34Speaker 1: because what gets your attention eventually gets your life. 10
- 5:37Speaker 1: minutes becomes an hour. An hour becomes hundreds of hours.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Hundreds of hours become years. So protect your attention, not
- 5:43Speaker 1: because technology is evil. Technology is incredibly useful, but a
- 5:47Speaker 1: tool should serve you. You shouldn't serve the tool. Use
- 5:50Speaker 1: technology deliberately, then put it down and return to real life.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Real life is still happening. Sometimes we become so concerned
- 5:57Speaker 1: about what's happening everywhere that we miss what's happening right
- 6:00Speaker 1: beside us. Your kid wants to talk. Your spouse wants
- 6:03Speaker 1: your attention. Your parent is getting older. Your friend needs encouragement.
- 6:07Speaker 1: The sunrise is happening. Dinner is on the table. Your
- 6:10Speaker 1: dog wants to go outside. Someone you love is sitting
- 6:13Speaker 1: five feet away, and we're staring through six inches of
- 6:16Speaker 1: glass at people thousands of miles away. Don't miss your
- 6:19Speaker 1: actual life while watching everybody else's. There will eventually be
- 6:22Speaker 1: a last conversation with every person you love. You probably
- 6:25Speaker 1: won't know it's the last one when it happens. That
- 6:28Speaker 1: isn't meant to make you afraid. It's meant to make
- 6:30Speaker 1: you present. Look people in the eye. Say thank you.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Say I love you. Laugh. Listen. Put the phone down.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Be there. Those moments matter more than most of the
- 6:40Speaker 1: things we spend our lives worrying about. You cannot control everything.
- 6:44Speaker 1: A lot of stress comes from attempting to control things
- 6:46Speaker 1: that were never yours to control. You cannot control the economy.
- 6:49Speaker 1: You cannot control other people's opinions. You cannot control tomorrow's headlines.
- 6:54Speaker 1: You cannot control whether everyone likes you. You cannot control
- 6:57Speaker 1: what somebody says about you. You cannot control every outcome.
- 7:00Speaker 1: But there are things you can control. Your effort, your habits,
- 7:04Speaker 1: your attitude, your preparation, your response, your integrity, whether you
- 7:09Speaker 1: get back up, whether you tell the truth, whether you
- 7:12Speaker 1: keep your word, whether you waste another day. Focus there.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Energy spent worrying about what you cannot control is energy
- 7:19Speaker 1: unavailable for what you actually can. And here's where faith
- 7:22Speaker 1: enters the picture. Whether you're deeply religious or simply trying
- 7:25Speaker 1: to understand faith better, there is an idea in scripture
- 7:28Speaker 1: that has tremendous practical value. Proverbs 3 says, Trust in
- 7:32Speaker 1: the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto
- 7:35Speaker 1: thine own understanding. That doesn't mean stop thinking. It doesn't
- 7:39Speaker 1: mean don't make plans. It means accepting something human beings
- 7:42Speaker 1: don't particularly like accepting. You will never understand everything. Sometimes
- 7:46Speaker 1: you're going to have to move without knowing exactly how
- 7:49Speaker 1: the story ends. Faith says, I'll do what I know
- 7:52Speaker 1: I'm supposed to do today, and I'll trust God with
- 7:54Speaker 1: what I cannot see. Jesus taught something similar when he
- 7:57Speaker 1: warned about worrying over tomorrow. Tomorrow has enough trouble of
- 8:00Speaker 1: its own. Handle today. That's good theology. It's also good
- 8:04Speaker 1: life advice. You weren't built to carry tomorrow, next month,
- 8:08Speaker 1: next year, and the next decade simultaneously. You have today.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Use it. Don't wait until you feel ready. Another trap,
- 8:16Speaker 1: I'll start when I'm motivated. No, start before you're motivated.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Some mornings you aren't going to want to exercise. Go anyway.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Some days you won't want to work. Work anyway. Sometimes
- 8:26Speaker 1: you won't feel like having the difficult conversation. Have it anyway.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Sometimes you won't feel confident. Move anyway. Confidence often comes
- 8:34Speaker 1: after action. You don't become courageous and then do difficult things.
- 8:38Speaker 1: You do difficult things and discover courage. You don't become
- 8:41Speaker 1: disciplined and then create good habits. You create good habits
- 8:44Speaker 1: and become disciplined. Your actions eventually introduce you to a
- 8:47Speaker 1: different version of yourself. There will be bad days and
- 8:51Speaker 1: let's get rid of another lie. A successful life does
- 8:53Speaker 1: not mean every day is a good day. You're going
- 8:55Speaker 1: to have bad days. You're going to lose. You're going
- 8:58Speaker 1: to fail. Someone will disappoint you. You'll make mistakes. You'll
- 9:02Speaker 1: get tired. Something you worked hard for may not work.
- 9:05Speaker 1: That's life. The objective isn't to eliminate failure. It's to
- 9:08Speaker 1: become somebody failure cannot permanently stop. Fall. Learn. adjust, stand
- 9:14Speaker 1: back up, again, again, again. You don't need a perfect record.
- 9:18Speaker 1: You need resilience. Today's challenge, here's today's challenge. Take a
- 9:22Speaker 1: piece of paper or use a note on your phone.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Write this question. What actually matters today? Then write only
- 9:28Speaker 1: three things, not 20. Three. One thing for your future.
- 9:33Speaker 1: One thing for someone you love. One thing for yourself.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Maybe exercise for 30 minutes. Call mom. Finish the proposal.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Or pay the bills. Have dinner without phones. Read 20 pages.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Then do those things. If you accomplish those three things today,
- 9:49Speaker 1: the day wasn't wasted. Tomorrow you'll choose three more. Small victories.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Stacked together. That's momentum. Closing. The world is going to
- 9:57Speaker 1: keep moving. Technology will keep changing. The news will keep breaking.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Markets will rise. Markets will fall. Someone will always be
- 10:05Speaker 1: ahead of you. Someone will always tell you you're behind.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Let them. You have your road. Walk it. You have
- 10:10Speaker 1: your responsibilities. Handle them. You have people you love. Love them.
- 10:15Speaker 1: You have a body. Take care of it. You have abilities.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Develop them. You have mistakes. Learn from them. You have today.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Use it. And if you believe in God, remember this.
- 10:25Speaker 1: You weren't placed here accidentally. So don't spend your entire
- 10:29Speaker 1: life trying to imitate somebody else's. Build yours. Quietly if necessary.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Slowly if necessary. One disciplined decision at a time. You
- 10:37Speaker 1: don't need to have everything figured out this morning. You
- 10:40Speaker 1: don't need to know exactly where you'll be five years
- 10:42Speaker 1: from now. You simply need to know, what's my next
- 10:45Speaker 1: right move? Then make it. Stop looking sideways. Stop watching
- 10:49Speaker 1: the clock. Stop worrying about everybody else's timeline. Look forward.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Take the step, and then take another. Because fast isn't
- 10:56Speaker 1: the goal. Famous isn't the goal. Perfect isn't the goal.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Progress is the goal. Purpose is the goal. Becoming someone
- 11:03Speaker 1: you respect is the goal. So today, slow the noise down.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Get focused. Do the work. Love your people. Trust God
- 11:11Speaker 1: with what you cannot control. And keep moving forward. Not
- 11:14Speaker 1: at the world's speed. At yours.
