- 0:04Speaker 1: Hey, one of the stars of Cardinal Territory and part
- 0:07Speaker 1: of the Ft Famine FT Network, Lance Lynn, joining us
- 0:10Speaker 1: right now.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Lance.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Good to see you, dude. But we're going to talk
- 0:12Speaker 1: cardinals in the second half of the conversation. Just get
- 0:15Speaker 1: to some MLB topics here from the jump, So I
- 0:19Speaker 1: want to start here with you Lance. We went over
- 0:22Speaker 1: at the top of the show the suspensions that were
- 0:24Speaker 1: reduced for Jorge Solaer and for Rinaldo Lopez. What are
- 0:30Speaker 1: your thoughts on the way that the league hands out
- 0:32Speaker 1: suspensions for fights like that? It's do you think that
- 0:36Speaker 1: they should treat a starter differently, because I mean, Ronaldo
- 0:41Speaker 1: essentially didn't miss any time. Kratz didn't think he should
- 0:44Speaker 1: be suspended at all. So Larir gets the suspension knocked
- 0:47Speaker 1: down before games. So just your thoughts on how to
- 0:49Speaker 1: handle that if you were commission.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, anytime a picture is suspended, if it's
- 0:56Speaker 3: not more than ten days, it's kind of not a suspension.
- 1:00Speaker 3: It's like, hey, I geta I get a break, but
- 1:02Speaker 3: your team's missing a starter, so which you're not gonna
- 1:05Speaker 3: start for five six days anyways, So a four game,
- 1:08Speaker 3: five game doesn't hurt you at all as a starter.
- 1:10Speaker 3: So if he did, if he did deserve it, then
- 1:13Speaker 3: you need to go ten to games where it's a
- 1:14Speaker 3: true miss of a start and it hurts the team
- 1:16Speaker 3: for doing that. And then you know, so Air came
- 1:19Speaker 3: out fireing, swinging and all that. I don't know any
- 1:23Speaker 3: anything over three h He didn't connect. You know, it
- 1:27Speaker 3: was one of those things where it's like, hey, take
- 1:29Speaker 3: a couple of days off, let's let's not let's not
- 1:31Speaker 3: go throw hay makers just because a guy threw you
- 1:34Speaker 3: up top.
- 1:34Speaker 4: But did they both deserve to get suspended? Yes they did.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Now it's a question is what's long enough to to
- 1:41Speaker 3: do that. I mean, whenever you're gonna whenever you're to
- 1:44Speaker 3: charge the mount throwing, throwing haymakers, as you all know
- 1:47Speaker 3: it's you, you got to do something.
- 1:48Speaker 4: So I think the league kind of got it right
- 1:50Speaker 4: when it's all said and done.
- 1:53Speaker 5: Yeah, but should the guy who charged them mount get
- 1:55Speaker 5: more games than the guy who just stood there and
- 1:58Speaker 5: and got charged. Shouldn't he GeTe?
- 2:00Speaker 3: He did technically he did because he actually had to
- 2:04Speaker 3: miss four games where Ronaldo didn't miss a start, So
- 2:08Speaker 3: just take the rotation around.
- 2:09Speaker 5: Yeah, that you should have to miss, you should have
- 2:13Speaker 5: to miss at least a star, or you should have
- 2:14Speaker 5: to miss something right, Oh, it's your start day.
- 2:17Speaker 6: Guess what, you can't pitch today? You have to wait
- 2:18Speaker 6: five more days or so. There's got to be a
- 2:20Speaker 6: better way to do this.
- 2:22Speaker 4: They should.
- 2:22Speaker 3: I mean, if it's just if you're ever going to
- 2:24Speaker 3: suspend a starting pitcher, you have to make sure the
- 2:26Speaker 3: team feels it and the picture feels it. So if
- 2:28Speaker 3: it's a ten days suspension, you're missing a start, and
- 2:31Speaker 3: then you're almost missing two but you're not. And then
- 2:34Speaker 3: as a position player, it's like, okay, what's the what's
- 2:37Speaker 3: the right number on a situation like that?
- 2:39Speaker 4: Is it five?
- 2:40Speaker 3: I mean, then it's like, okay, he's missing the same
- 2:42Speaker 3: amount of you know, what's the what's the starter gets
- 2:44Speaker 3: thirty starts a year, So you know, what's the equivalent to, Hey,
- 2:48Speaker 3: he's going to miss a starter or two. What's the
- 2:49Speaker 3: equivalent to the position player percentage of games missed for suspension?
- 2:54Speaker 3: You know, maybe you could go that route and try
- 2:55Speaker 3: to find, you know, a percentage of games miss type
- 2:59Speaker 3: of thing, and that's probably it somewhere around there. But
- 3:02Speaker 3: you know, I'm not huge into the numbers right there,
- 3:05Speaker 3: So somebody can counch those numbers and say, all right,
- 3:07Speaker 3: for thirty starts in a year, is that this percentage
- 3:10Speaker 3: he's missing this percentage of game, So that's the percentage
- 3:12Speaker 3: of the position player get suspended too. Something like that
- 3:15Speaker 3: might work.
- 3:16Speaker 1: And part of the problem in my mind is, of
- 3:18Speaker 1: course the players in the league legally don't get along well.
- 3:23Speaker 1: And I do think you probably have a battle with
- 3:26Speaker 1: the union saying hey, we're not going to have a
- 3:28Speaker 1: starter get suspended ten games of pay. I think there
- 3:31Speaker 1: is actually a solution there. I'm not a lawyer, but
- 3:35Speaker 1: I play one sometimes on this show. You don't have
- 3:37Speaker 1: to dock ten days or ten games of pay. You
- 3:41Speaker 1: could say, hey, we get that this is unique, Like
- 3:44Speaker 1: this isn't you know the Bible? Here we can change things. Hey,
- 3:47Speaker 1: you get suspended ten games that you actually miss a start.
- 3:50Speaker 1: That and if you're designated as a starter. That's how
- 3:52Speaker 1: these suspensions work, right. You could be like, hey, the
- 3:55Speaker 1: equivalent for a starter versus the equivalent for a reliever
- 3:58Speaker 1: versus the equivalent for a position player, and then you
- 4:00Speaker 1: can still just dock less pay, because that's the battle
- 4:04Speaker 1: that you're gonna have there, right, So why should a
- 4:06Speaker 1: starter get ten games if you're trying to make it
- 4:08Speaker 1: more just the equivalent of missing one start.
- 4:12Speaker 4: No, I think it's a no doubt it right there.
- 4:13Speaker 4: You just kind of hit the nail on the head.
- 4:14Speaker 3: If you're gonna get suspended a start or they're gonna
- 4:17Speaker 3: get suspended. They both could get suspended, you know, five
- 4:20Speaker 3: days of pay, but he's gonna miss a full start,
- 4:23Speaker 3: so he's gonna get suspended ten days, and it's just
- 4:25Speaker 3: five days of pay.
- 4:26Speaker 4: Both get the same pay cut. That could be an
- 4:28Speaker 4: easy one.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Hey, they do it in the on the irm, right,
- 4:31Speaker 3: It's like, hey, pitchers get fifteen, position players get ten.
- 4:35Speaker 3: So they already do it in other aspects of the game.
- 4:37Speaker 3: So I'm sure that these guys can figure out a
- 4:39Speaker 3: way to suspend the guy the same amount but also
- 4:42Speaker 3: get fined the same amount of days pay, So it's.
- 4:45Speaker 4: Not one guy's not getting hurt more on pay.
- 4:48Speaker 3: Pay cuts are going to be the same, but the
- 4:50Speaker 3: suspension has to be filled the same too, whether it's hey,
- 4:53Speaker 3: I'm gonna miss four games, he needs to miss a
- 4:55Speaker 3: start because he's dinitt miss one, so he's gonna get
- 4:57Speaker 3: spended ten days but only five four days of pay.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Something like that could be, could be a nice little
- 5:01Speaker 3: fix for it.
- 5:03Speaker 6: Just an fay. Guys they get paid when they're suspended.
- 5:06Speaker 6: They don't. It's not suspended.
- 5:07Speaker 4: It without just get they get fined.
- 5:09Speaker 6: They get fined like five grand. That's not five days pay.
- 5:12Speaker 6: That's like for.
- 5:13Speaker 3: Sometimes you get two minutes, sometimes you get fined. Your
- 5:16Speaker 3: your day's pay depends on how much you pissed rob Off.
- 5:21Speaker 7: I didn't.
- 5:22Speaker 6: I think the biggest Pine ever got was two hundred
- 5:24Speaker 6: and fifty bucks. I think something like that.
- 5:25Speaker 7: So I got.
- 5:26Speaker 4: I got one thousand dollars for breaking an iPad.
- 5:30Speaker 6: Well, you deserved it. You shouldn't break the eyepads off
- 5:32Speaker 6: the iPad's fault. You sucked.
- 5:33Speaker 3: They would already broken, and I placed it in the
- 5:36Speaker 3: area with its friends.
- 5:39Speaker 5: Hmm.
- 5:39Speaker 6: Sure. By the way, do you ever throw anybody?
- 5:43Speaker 4: Yeah, I was told to throw out a few people
- 5:45Speaker 4: and a couple a couple of times. I did it
- 5:46Speaker 4: on my own.
- 5:47Speaker 3: So I did what I was told when it was time,
- 5:49Speaker 3: and I did what I thought was right when it
- 5:50Speaker 3: was time.
- 5:51Speaker 5: Did you ever have anyone charge amount? No, I missed
- 5:58Speaker 5: an opportunity to dang it. You never hit me, so
- 6:01Speaker 5: you were such.
- 6:01Speaker 4: An out that I didn't even worry about it.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Yeah, wait, I have one here. Lance.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Have you ever been told by a teammate or a coach, hey,
- 6:12Speaker 1: we're going after that guy, and you're like, I don't
- 6:15Speaker 1: really agree with why we're doing this.
- 6:19Speaker 3: I've seen I've never had to hit someone I didn't
- 6:22Speaker 3: think deserved it. I have seen guys hit that I
- 6:25Speaker 3: didn't think deserve it, and you're like, why, what's the point?
- 6:29Speaker 8: You know?
- 6:29Speaker 3: Just I mean I saw one guy hit the guy
- 6:31Speaker 3: because he just was hitting him well, and I was like, bro,
- 6:34Speaker 3: come on, just like you get him out if they
- 6:37Speaker 3: were just walking if you don't. I mean, so it's
- 6:40Speaker 3: like one of those things. But I never hit had
- 6:43Speaker 3: to hit anyone or hitting one that I didn't think
- 6:45Speaker 3: deserved it or there wasn't a reason to hit somebody.
- 6:48Speaker 3: So I got lucky in that sense. But I've seen
- 6:50Speaker 3: some guys get pissed off that the guy owns them
- 6:52Speaker 3: and they just got him just to do it. I
- 6:55Speaker 3: have seen that, and that's when you're like, Okay, well
- 6:57Speaker 3: I got back my teammate, but he was the wrong here.
- 7:00Speaker 4: But you gotta do what you gotta do.
- 7:03Speaker 6: I agree that I hate that one. I hate it
- 7:05Speaker 6: that one. Oh he owns me, so I'm going to
- 7:07Speaker 6: hit him.
- 7:07Speaker 5: Well, didn't get me out, don't hit don't hit me
- 7:09Speaker 5: because I just got four hits off you.
- 7:11Speaker 6: In a game that's try something in Yeah, I mean, yeah,
- 7:15Speaker 6: I don't know. I never said that. I got to
- 7:17Speaker 6: hit a lot, and I was like, dang, by the way,
- 7:19Speaker 6: what the heck, that's just because.
- 7:20Speaker 8: No one likes you.
- 7:20Speaker 4: That wasn't because you were owing him.
- 7:22Speaker 6: That's true. That's also true. And anytime anyone made someone mad,
- 7:25Speaker 6: they threw at me and I took it. So that's what.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I was happy to be that guy through Well,
- 7:30Speaker 3: when you're the catcher, you know, everyone blames you for
- 7:33Speaker 3: any of their guys getting hit or anything. It's like, hey,
- 7:35Speaker 3: I can't help it that my picture doesn't have a
- 7:37Speaker 3: damn clue where it's going, you know. I remember Tony
- 7:40Speaker 3: of the Russe had always say, if if you can't
- 7:41Speaker 3: control it, don't call it in there, and then he
- 7:43Speaker 3: would want to blast whatever catcher that was was was
- 7:46Speaker 3: calling the pictures. So maybe that's where where you got
- 7:48Speaker 3: it so many.
- 7:49Speaker 6: Times, that's right, from all those years I spent with Tony.
- 7:52Speaker 3: It wasn't your pleasant It wasn't your pleasant attitude that
- 7:55Speaker 3: got you hit that promise.
- 7:56Speaker 5: Never exactly right, I mean, I agree, who would want
- 7:58Speaker 5: to throw at me? I was always nice, It's always smiling.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Hey, Lance, I want to move to the ABS Challenge
- 8:06Speaker 1: system and how it's changed the zone.
- 8:08Speaker 2: AJ has talked about this.
- 8:10Speaker 1: There was a good story out today in The Athletic
- 8:12Speaker 1: from Cody Stavenhagen, who hosts our Tiger Territory Show, and
- 8:15Speaker 1: we're going to hit this more tomorrow on the position
- 8:17Speaker 1: player hitter side, but I wanted to get your thoughts
- 8:20Speaker 1: on how the zone has changed, shrunk the two D
- 8:23Speaker 1: versus the three D conversation, how the zones not be
- 8:26Speaker 1: being evaluated by the rule book, and how walk the
- 8:30Speaker 1: walks are up we're at I think the walk rate's
- 8:33Speaker 1: the highest right now since nineteen fifty. Now I'm saying
- 8:36Speaker 1: all of these things like it's bad. I freaking love
- 8:38Speaker 1: the ABS Challenge system, but just curious for your thoughts
- 8:40Speaker 1: on how pitchers are looking at this.
- 8:43Speaker 4: Well, I think when you see it, you just want
- 8:45Speaker 4: to strike to be called a strike in the rule book.
- 8:48Speaker 8: Right.
- 8:49Speaker 3: The problem is is until they fully lock in everything
- 8:52Speaker 3: he swise and all that. For every hitter, it's going
- 8:54Speaker 3: to be hard to totally lock it in. And if
- 8:58Speaker 3: the strike zones changing, I think the big thing that
- 9:00Speaker 3: everyone's worried about is we've known this for years that
- 9:03Speaker 3: they've wanted to shrink the strike zone because they wanted
- 9:06Speaker 3: more offense and less strikeouts and all that good stuff.
- 9:10Speaker 4: But by doing.
- 9:11Speaker 3: That, you're going to have more walks in games are
- 9:12Speaker 3: going to get a little longer again, so you can't
- 9:15Speaker 3: have everything you want at the same time. So I
- 9:18Speaker 3: think in general, the ABS is great. We want a
- 9:21Speaker 3: strike to be a strike and a ball to be
- 9:23Speaker 3: a ball, and we want everyone to be on an
- 9:24Speaker 3: even playing field. I think every hitter and pitcher can
- 9:26Speaker 3: say that. Now we just need to know what the
- 9:28Speaker 3: exact strike is. There can't be you know, a little
- 9:31Speaker 3: change here and there. And I know a lot of
- 9:33Speaker 3: the Triple A guys were like, Hey, I can hit
- 9:35Speaker 3: great in Triple A because I don't have to worry
- 9:36Speaker 3: about the high strike. So it's like these guys are
- 9:39Speaker 3: coming up to the big leagues before the ABS and
- 9:41Speaker 3: they couldn't They couldn't hit because they don't have to
- 9:43Speaker 3: cover the whole strike zone. But if we want to
- 9:46Speaker 3: strink the strike zone, just say it. Be like, hey,
- 9:48Speaker 3: let's not make it like the baseballs from years ago,
- 9:51Speaker 3: where like, oh, we changed the baseball's a little bit,
- 9:52Speaker 3: but we didn't. We changed the strike zone a little bit,
- 9:54Speaker 3: but we didn't. So it's all one of those things.
- 9:56Speaker 3: But abs, I want it to be every pitch, let's
- 10:00Speaker 3: be done with it. But I do like the challenge system.
- 10:02Speaker 3: It makes it fun. You know, the fans seem to
- 10:04Speaker 3: enjoy it and stuff like that. But all in all,
- 10:06Speaker 3: I think every player would say, we just want to
- 10:08Speaker 3: strike to be a striking, the ball to be a
- 10:09Speaker 3: ball when it's supposed to be.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Well said, good stuff, Yeah, well said editor.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Next big topic from Cardinal Territory the other day, and
- 10:20Speaker 1: this will kick off the Cardinals portion of the conversation.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Can you reiterate what you said about how players need
- 10:25Speaker 1: to be careful what they tell the media?
- 10:29Speaker 4: So I think AJA can go in this.
- 10:32Speaker 3: When you tell the media what you're trying to accomplish
- 10:35Speaker 3: or what you accomplish that day, that gives the opponent
- 10:39Speaker 3: a chance to understand your mindset on how you're trying
- 10:42Speaker 3: to go about your process, whether it's hitting or pitching,
- 10:45Speaker 3: how you're trying to get people out, what your game
- 10:47Speaker 3: plan is, all these different things. So there's a fine
- 10:50Speaker 3: line between hey, here's what worked well today, and then
- 10:54Speaker 3: it's like, but you're not going to sit here and say, well,
- 10:56Speaker 3: you know, I'm looking for a ball on this side
- 10:58Speaker 3: of the plate so I can get this swing off
- 11:00Speaker 3: blah blah blah.
- 11:01Speaker 4: And then if I see that as a pitcher.
- 11:03Speaker 3: I'm like, well, I'm not giving him that, and I'm
- 11:04Speaker 3: going to make him feel uncomfortable somewhere else so I
- 11:06Speaker 3: can get him off that a way. And as a picture,
- 11:08Speaker 3: you don't want to be like, yeah, man, I really
- 11:10Speaker 3: want to establish down in a way, and then I
- 11:12Speaker 3: want to run my sinker off in so I can
- 11:14Speaker 3: run cutter off away to expand the strike cent and
- 11:17Speaker 3: then elevate with two strikes. So every time you go
- 11:20Speaker 3: to a two strike pitch, you know they know that
- 11:22Speaker 3: you're trying to go up top or whatever you might
- 11:23Speaker 3: be doing.
- 11:24Speaker 4: So, uh, I think that's what.
- 11:26Speaker 3: I was trying to reiterate is it's, you know, you
- 11:28Speaker 3: want to know everything that these kids and every player
- 11:31Speaker 3: is trying to do. But it's also like hey, they
- 11:33Speaker 3: can't tell you everything, or people are going to use
- 11:34Speaker 3: it against them and then figure out what their what
- 11:36Speaker 3: their mindsets are, and then you know that could be
- 11:38Speaker 3: used against them.
- 11:41Speaker 5: I think it's I think it's different for a pitcher
- 11:42Speaker 5: than a hitter, though. I think that a pitcher trying
- 11:45Speaker 5: to say, hey, I'm working on this and I really
- 11:46Speaker 5: want to do this is different because a hitter can
- 11:48Speaker 5: go up there and say, hey, I'm looking for a
- 11:49Speaker 5: ball away, and he might never get a ball away.
- 11:52Speaker 5: I'm looking for a ball in. You might never get
- 11:53Speaker 5: it because the pitcher is actually in control. So I
- 11:56Speaker 5: don't have a problem with Jordan Walker saying, hey, I'm
- 11:57Speaker 5: trying to elevate the ball, because you know what makes mistakes, right,
- 12:01Speaker 5: They might not be trying to go away, or they
- 12:03Speaker 5: might not be trying to throw a pitch there, but
- 12:05Speaker 5: they make mistakes and you used toll have the opportunity.
- 12:07Speaker 6: So I don't think that's as big of a deal.
- 12:08Speaker 5: But I always remember a picture would say oh, I'm
- 12:10Speaker 5: trying to do this to this guy, or I'm trying
- 12:12Speaker 5: to do this, and you're like, you just.
- 12:14Speaker 6: Sit there and go, oh, you're trying to throw me
- 12:15Speaker 6: in Okay, watch this.
- 12:16Speaker 5: I'm I'm opening the gate here and I'm gonna try
- 12:18Speaker 5: and get the head out and boom.
- 12:20Speaker 6: And then someone asked you, like, well he said it
- 12:21Speaker 6: before the game. He was trying to pitch into everybody.
- 12:23Speaker 6: Well there's my opportunity.
- 12:26Speaker 4: Yeah, And that's the fine line.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Right.
- 12:27Speaker 3: As a hitter, we know how you're trying to get
- 12:29Speaker 3: ball elevated so you can drive balls for Homer. So
- 12:31Speaker 3: that's not, you know, out of the ordinary to talk about.
- 12:34Speaker 3: But it's like, hey, here's my plan to get a
- 12:36Speaker 3: ball elevated. Here's how my here's my plan to get
- 12:39Speaker 3: myself into good counts for me to be able to
- 12:42Speaker 3: get balls elevated, and this and that, which might have
- 12:45Speaker 3: if a picture you know, is paying attention, it's like, okay,
- 12:47Speaker 3: he's going to not swing at this early in the count,
- 12:49Speaker 3: so I might be able to steal a strike and
- 12:51Speaker 3: get ahead and stuff like that. That's the only thing
- 12:53Speaker 3: that I could I could see. But yeah, it's like, hey, yeah,
- 12:55Speaker 3: I want to. I want to I want to shrink
- 12:57Speaker 3: the strikes out and I want to get the ball
- 12:59Speaker 3: elevated up so I can drive it.
- 13:00Speaker 4: And and do damage. So he's doing what he's supposed
- 13:03Speaker 4: to do.
- 13:03Speaker 3: But he also is like, hey, well, I'm not trying
- 13:05Speaker 3: to swing it spin early in the count. I'm not
- 13:07Speaker 3: trying to do this, this and this, and I'm I'm
- 13:09Speaker 3: keyholding certain things.
- 13:10Speaker 4: And then if a pitcher knows that he might be
- 13:12Speaker 4: able to use.
- 13:12Speaker 3: That advantage to get ahead and then put him on
- 13:14Speaker 3: the defense, that would be my only worry.
- 13:16Speaker 4: For a hitter.
- 13:18Speaker 5: Yeah, oh great, great, But you guys make so many mistakes,
- 13:20Speaker 5: so it's fine. You guys, cous make mistakes all the time.
- 13:23Speaker 6: All the time.
- 13:24Speaker 5: I can tell you what I'm looking for, and you
- 13:26Speaker 5: guys were dumb enough to shake right to that pitch.
- 13:28Speaker 6: He goes, can't my fastball?
- 13:31Speaker 4: Yeah, well, I I agreed that most couldn't.
- 13:33Speaker 3: I had a really long career having a very mediocre fastball,
- 13:36Speaker 3: So you know that's what That's what you did.
- 13:40Speaker 6: That's true. I can't argue with you on that one.
- 13:42Speaker 4: He the cardinal and I don't think you knew any
- 13:44Speaker 4: other finger.
- 13:45Speaker 6: But my fingers, my fingers are broken. The other one,
- 13:48Speaker 6: yeah broke.
- 13:48Speaker 3: He was just like this, and he's like every once
- 13:50Speaker 3: in a while, he's like, let's let's make it run
- 13:52Speaker 3: a little bit.
- 13:52Speaker 8: This one.
- 13:53Speaker 4: We want this one, and let's make it run a
- 13:54Speaker 4: little bit.
- 13:55Speaker 3: And if we're running from the first and he's trying
- 13:56Speaker 3: to throw him out, it's oh, I'm not trying to
- 14:00Speaker 3: I'm throwing.
- 14:00Speaker 6: Out that's right, that's right. I'm gonna let him get
- 14:03Speaker 6: to second like that.
- 14:04Speaker 3: That's why we worked well. I wasn't trying to make
- 14:06Speaker 3: I wouldn't trying to make anything spin. Anyways, we were good.
- 14:09Speaker 7: I know it was good.
- 14:09Speaker 5: It was a good pair the Cardinals. You brought up
- 14:13Speaker 5: Jordan Walker and the Cardinals. Did you give him your
- 14:15Speaker 5: Cardinals Way playbook? When all these young kids and they
- 14:18Speaker 5: started this rebuild, reload, retool, whatever they're doing. Because do
- 14:22Speaker 5: you think they're playing better than what we thought they
- 14:24Speaker 5: were going to play? Because Walker's obviously good, weather Hold's
- 14:27Speaker 5: been good. Some of the other guys and some of
- 14:29Speaker 5: the young pictures have shown flashes that they have good stuff.
- 14:32Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 14:33Speaker 4: No, I think what you're seeing is kind of a
- 14:35Speaker 4: reset of the whole whole organizational way of how they're
- 14:39Speaker 4: doing things. They're letting.
- 14:40Speaker 3: When I was there my last year, we kind of
- 14:42Speaker 3: reset some of those old things that you know that
- 14:45Speaker 3: kind of were outdated, right, And then we figured out
- 14:47Speaker 3: how to let the kids be themselves a little bit.
- 14:48Speaker 3: Some of these guys have taken a little longer to
- 14:51Speaker 3: establish themselves of everyday big leaguers, And you're seeing Jordan
- 14:54Speaker 3: take that next step right now, which is awesome to
- 14:56Speaker 3: see because when I was with him, he was really
- 14:58Speaker 3: going through a lot of change, just trying to get
- 15:00Speaker 3: the ball off the ground, and he kind of lost
- 15:02Speaker 3: himself for a little bit. So I think the beauty
- 15:04Speaker 3: of it now is, Hey, we know what we are
- 15:07Speaker 3: wanting from you, but we also know that you have
- 15:10Speaker 3: your ways of doing it, so let's figure out how
- 15:12Speaker 3: to work together and saying instead of saying, hey, this
- 15:14Speaker 3: is how we're going to do it, it's like, no,
- 15:16Speaker 3: how do you feel comfortable doing it? And then let's
- 15:18Speaker 3: integrate our things that we think that can help you,
- 15:21Speaker 3: so guys can be themselves and hopefully it just will
- 15:23Speaker 3: keep letting these guys flourish.
- 15:25Speaker 4: They're very talented.
- 15:26Speaker 3: A lot of these guys have been in the big
- 15:27Speaker 3: leagues for a couple of years and they had some
- 15:29Speaker 3: good success early on, and then they got figured out
- 15:32Speaker 3: they might have changed things or got told to do
- 15:34Speaker 3: things a little differently that didn't work for them specifically,
- 15:37Speaker 3: but you know, with failure it comes, you know, positive things,
- 15:40Speaker 3: and I think we're seeing that from some guys and
- 15:42Speaker 3: they're also buying into the system. It's like, hey, I
- 15:45Speaker 3: know what I'm capable of, but I also have these
- 15:47Speaker 3: little things that can help me get better day in
- 15:49Speaker 3: and day out, and I don't lose what got me here.
- 15:51Speaker 3: I think some of these guys lost what got them
- 15:53Speaker 3: there by trying to change to certain things, where now
- 15:56Speaker 3: it's hey, we know what's gotten here, let's build on that.
- 15:59Speaker 3: And I think it's going to be a good a
- 16:00Speaker 3: good mix for all of them.
- 16:02Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a fun watch.
- 16:03Speaker 1: I know Cardinals fans, you know, have been frustrated, and
- 16:06Speaker 1: it's a smart fan base, so they know what a
- 16:08Speaker 1: rebuild looks like. But this is a fun way to
- 16:11Speaker 1: watch a team building itself.
- 16:12Speaker 7: Back up.
- 16:13Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, there's there's pitching talent that needs to
- 16:15Speaker 1: be developed. I think they're lasting strikeouts, which you're you're
- 16:19Speaker 1: going to see some more elite arms coming through the
- 16:21Speaker 1: minor leagues hopefully soon. But the hitters developing is a
- 16:24Speaker 1: nice storyline right now, and you're you're hearing plenty of
- 16:27Speaker 1: it on your show, Lance, thanks for joining us.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Man, good to see you.
- 16:30Speaker 4: Hey, always good to be here. You guys keep doing
- 16:32Speaker 4: your thing.
- 16:33Speaker 8: You too.
- 16:34Speaker 4: I'll stay on the regional network.
- 16:37Speaker 2: We miss you.
- 16:38Speaker 7: I heard.
- 16:38Speaker 2: I heard the personally inside inside these I heard.
- 16:42Speaker 3: And then I'm going to expand as it get more retired,
- 16:45Speaker 3: We're going to get more like.
- 16:46Speaker 6: MLLB in the regionals collapse. We don't want you to collapse.
- 16:50Speaker 4: No, I'm right where I need to be if it does.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Now we're going to get national Lance.
- 16:54Speaker 1: I heard that there was an invite and there was
- 16:56Speaker 1: a schedule conflict, so.
- 16:59Speaker 3: I'm still the Hey dad comes first mode right now.
- 17:02Speaker 3: So eventually everybody be in school all day and have
- 17:05Speaker 3: their own thing, and then.
- 17:06Speaker 4: I get it.
- 17:06Speaker 3: I get a kick back into the stuff that makes
- 17:09Speaker 3: me meat beautiful.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Then we got more Lance. So we're just waiting. We're
- 17:12Speaker 1: waiting for you to to break out. You're just kind
- 17:15Speaker 1: of you're there, but your.
- 17:17Speaker 6: Kids kids difficult to do. Your kids go to school.
- 17:22Speaker 4: We had we had half day and no school, so
- 17:24Speaker 4: it was like it was like the.
- 17:27Speaker 3: Afternoon on the on the half day was needed, and
- 17:29Speaker 3: then like midday on the off day and it's like, hey,
- 17:32Speaker 3: I got an off day at school, we got a
- 17:33Speaker 3: little break. I gotta I gotta be with them, and
- 17:35Speaker 3: we got a big weekend of sports that I got
- 17:37Speaker 3: to coach T ball and all that good stuff.
- 17:40Speaker 4: So it's just like, hey, you guys, stay walked in.
- 17:43Speaker 8: Yep.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Hey, yeah, that's that sounds like an average week actually
- 17:46Speaker 1: in school down here. I'm in Orlando right now, So
- 17:51Speaker 1: enjoy it, dude. We'll we'll chat soon.
- 17:53Speaker 8: Though.
- 17:53Speaker 2: We'll get you in the big in the National Show soon.
- 17:55Speaker 4: Okay, you guys have to go and keep it up too.
- 17:58Speaker 2: Thanks, Lance, appreciate you.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Clayton beat her from the Nats joining us right now. Clayton,
- 18:03Speaker 1: great to have you on the show. Really appreciate the time.
- 18:06Speaker 5: And I honestly have never asked a closer of this.
- 18:08Speaker 5: And I don't know if you're named the closer, but
- 18:10Speaker 5: you've been closing the for the Nats. Is the twenty
- 18:14Speaker 5: fifth out the hardest one to get or the twenty
- 18:16Speaker 5: seventh because I always wanted my closer to get the
- 18:19Speaker 5: first out of the ninth inning. If you get the
- 18:21Speaker 5: first guy out in the ninth inning, it like shuts
- 18:23Speaker 5: down the whole team, right, But if you walk him
- 18:25Speaker 5: or you get to hit all of a sudden, the
- 18:26Speaker 5: other team's like, oh wait, maybe we have a chance here,
- 18:29Speaker 5: So which one's the hardest one to get?
- 18:32Speaker 8: You're right, you're spot on. That first out is big.
- 18:38Speaker 2: That's a great question.
- 18:39Speaker 1: I do feel that when you watch games and you
- 18:41Speaker 1: see the leadoff guy either walk or get a nod.
- 18:43Speaker 5: Then you look at the other team they're like, we
- 18:45Speaker 5: got a chance, guys, he's not like you don't have
- 18:47Speaker 5: it today, And then.
- 18:49Speaker 9: Yeah, the crowd gets all into it, and they probably
- 18:52Speaker 9: haven't been into it for the last few innings.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Right because if it happens in the seventh of the eighth,
- 18:57Speaker 1: like cool, but it just doesn't get the same attention
- 19:00Speaker 1: within the ballpark. So how much of a momentum feel
- 19:04Speaker 1: is it for you in the ninth right now?
- 19:08Speaker 9: I mean, I'm trying to keep the momentum low when
- 19:10Speaker 9: we're on the road and end it quickly every time,
- 19:15Speaker 9: So I honestly hope the crowd doesn't get into it
- 19:18Speaker 9: because it's hopefully that means it's overquick.
- 19:22Speaker 1: Are you doing anything special to get ready before games
- 19:26Speaker 1: aside from like normal arm routine, Like do you do
- 19:29Speaker 1: anything in terms of saying something to yourself. Do you
- 19:32Speaker 1: have like a motion that you do right? This was
- 19:35Speaker 1: part of what I was getting at. I mean, I
- 19:36Speaker 1: don't think you slap yourself in the face like Phillips,
- 19:40Speaker 1: Tyler Phillips right from.
- 19:41Speaker 8: The Marlins Marlin. I'm not quite like that.
- 19:46Speaker 9: I think I'm probably look pretty stoic out there, but
- 19:49Speaker 9: I'm I'm uttering some you know, pump up words and
- 19:53Speaker 9: got the bullpen coach getting me getting me pumped up
- 19:57Speaker 9: while I'm going.
- 19:57Speaker 8: And even though I'm not showing it.
- 20:00Speaker 10: Is anybody in that pen kind of crazy like that?
- 20:02Speaker 10: Does anybody do anything that you're like? I actually wasn't
- 20:06Speaker 10: paying attention, but I want to see what he's so
- 20:08Speaker 10: and so is getting ready in y'all's bullpen.
- 20:14Speaker 9: We got a couple of couple of weirdos. We call
- 20:17Speaker 9: him tweakers. Nothing crazy like that guy with Miami. But
- 20:22Speaker 9: we got a guy that likes a really hard backslap
- 20:25Speaker 9: when he comes in. Uh and then he full sprints
- 20:28Speaker 9: out of the out of the gate, which is pretty cool.
- 20:31Speaker 6: But who who we need?
- 20:33Speaker 7: We need names?
- 20:33Speaker 6: We can't just you can't sell someone.
- 20:35Speaker 5: You can't say someone's a tweaker and then you know
- 20:38Speaker 5: and they charged like like Heith Bell and then not tweaker.
- 20:44Speaker 8: Because he's he's the man.
- 20:45Speaker 9: But PJ loves a good backslap when he comes into
- 20:48Speaker 9: the game, PJ pooling.
- 20:51Speaker 7: Okay, who does Who's who does the slapping.
- 20:57Speaker 2: On or the rear on.
- 21:00Speaker 8: The back like two hands. You can hear it. It's
- 21:04Speaker 8: pretty sick.
- 21:06Speaker 2: I could leave a mark, Yeah, that could leave it.
- 21:08Speaker 6: Was it like a It was like a deep food like.
- 21:11Speaker 8: Oh yeah yeah.
- 21:12Speaker 9: And then he runs out to kicks out of my heart.
- 21:14Speaker 9: So I guess he's the He's the hype guy.
- 21:18Speaker 6: Plays it up.
- 21:20Speaker 10: So if you guys don't have your solidified closer, shouldn't
- 21:24Speaker 10: you all just get a light show and your own
- 21:27Speaker 10: music and everything. We have this discussion all the time.
- 21:29Speaker 10: Who cares who the closer is? Everybody should get a
- 21:32Speaker 10: trophy and everybody should get an entrance music and song
- 21:36Speaker 10: and lights.
- 21:39Speaker 8: I don't know, I'm still kind of waiting on mind. So,
- 21:44Speaker 8: but we got our pr guy here. You heard me.
- 21:48Speaker 8: I think you know it's I've looked forward beat since
- 21:52Speaker 8: I've moved to the Pen.
- 21:55Speaker 9: I've always thought closer interests were just the coolest thing ever.
- 21:58Speaker 9: And last year I'd always tell my wife, like man,
- 22:00Speaker 9: I can't wait till one day when I have a
- 22:02Speaker 9: light show and an entrance. But it's definitely, I think
- 22:06Speaker 9: something that has to be earned, so I'm not you know,
- 22:09Speaker 9: I don't want it to be just given to me.
- 22:12Speaker 7: All right, Who's got the best? Then? Who has the best?
- 22:15Speaker 6: Currently?
- 22:15Speaker 7: And was there one before you started playing that was
- 22:18Speaker 7: like I like that.
- 22:22Speaker 8: The best? I don't know.
- 22:25Speaker 9: I mean, I think Duranz is pretty sick just because
- 22:27Speaker 9: all the antics.
- 22:30Speaker 8: I think Mason Miller's just sick. Now.
- 22:35Speaker 9: I like, I like Mo's from back in the day.
- 22:37Speaker 9: I like the song. That's my favorite, like song choice.
- 22:41Speaker 9: I think if it was nowadays, it would be one.
- 22:43Speaker 8: Of the best.
- 22:46Speaker 5: Uh, you didn't have to face Mo, so no, you
- 22:49Speaker 5: didn't want to hear that that song, So no, you
- 22:52Speaker 5: might think it's the best, but you never had to
- 22:54Speaker 5: face Momo never broke twenty year bats before, and you
- 22:56Speaker 5: went up there with a little tiny bat just to
- 22:58Speaker 5: try to get the barrel there and he still broke it.
- 23:00Speaker 5: So no, that wasn't a great song when you were
- 23:03Speaker 5: on the other team. It was awesome when you weren't
- 23:04Speaker 5: playing them, but yes, it sucked when you had to
- 23:07Speaker 5: face them.
- 23:08Speaker 8: So the song was effective then oh yeah.
- 23:11Speaker 5: Put us all asleep because the game was over.
- 23:13Speaker 6: Oh yeah, trust me, it was.
- 23:15Speaker 5: It was awful. It was one of those things you
- 23:17Speaker 5: heard that now. I mean the coolest one for me ever,
- 23:20Speaker 5: was still Hell's Bells with Trevor Hoffman out in San
- 23:22Speaker 5: Diego when they did the fire and the whole thing.
- 23:25Speaker 5: And San Diego does an amazing job with what they
- 23:27Speaker 5: do and their closers. So Mason Miller, yes, is probably
- 23:30Speaker 5: winning that along with Durantula and Philly those are I mean,
- 23:34Speaker 5: no one cares, but those are my two favorite right now.
- 23:36Speaker 1: Yeah, Hey, I wanted to ask you a little bit
- 23:40Speaker 1: about your journey take us through. You know where you
- 23:43Speaker 1: are now versus say, twenty twenty four trying to prove
- 23:48Speaker 1: yourself in the Yankees organization.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Like what has changed? What have you learned?
- 23:52Speaker 1: What are some differences now in terms of what you do?
- 23:55Speaker 1: But also you know what the organization does here at
- 23:58Speaker 1: the Nats versus the Yanks. That's putting you in a
- 24:00Speaker 1: good spot.
- 24:03Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean, I battled a couple of injuries, probably
- 24:07Speaker 9: at the wrong time the last couple of years with
- 24:09Speaker 9: the Yankees. Finally got back you know, beginning of last
- 24:13Speaker 9: year and just didn't get quite the runway that I
- 24:18Speaker 9: probably needed and got traded over here, asked, you know,
- 24:23Speaker 9: asked God for something, and I just told him I was.
- 24:26Speaker 8: Ready for him, and and he, you know.
- 24:29Speaker 9: Literally the next day got traded and as soon as
- 24:31Speaker 9: I got to d C, everybody was just open arms
- 24:35Speaker 9: welcoming me, telling me how good I am. Just really
- 24:40Speaker 9: instilled a lot of confidence in me. And I know,
- 24:43Speaker 9: you know, I came in the middle of the season
- 24:44Speaker 9: when the team wasn't really in a good spot, but
- 24:48Speaker 9: it was just a great runway for me to get
- 24:50Speaker 9: my feet wet and and just see how my stuff
- 24:53Speaker 9: actually played at the big league level and just took
- 24:56Speaker 9: the confidence from that and tried to run with it.
- 25:00Speaker 7: Do you think your stuff was good enough to be
- 25:01Speaker 7: at the big league level?
- 25:02Speaker 10: Because you went from a team that was playoff aspirations,
- 25:06Speaker 10: World Series aspirations to the Nats who weren't doing very
- 25:09Speaker 10: well last year, like you said, and so you were like,
- 25:12Speaker 10: is it better to be in a big league organization
- 25:16Speaker 10: that's not winning or a Triple A team that the
- 25:19Speaker 10: big league organization is winning?
- 25:22Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 25:22Speaker 9: I always thought my stuff was was elite I've never
- 25:26Speaker 9: had a problem with confidence in my stuff. I think
- 25:29Speaker 9: it was just a comfortability aspect of running out on
- 25:32Speaker 9: the field in a big league stadium.
- 25:35Speaker 8: I mean, especially in the Yankee Stadium.
- 25:36Speaker 9: That's not an easy place to play, especially when you're new,
- 25:41Speaker 9: you know, And just took me a you know, honestly, like.
- 25:44Speaker 8: Two outings to get my feet under me.
- 25:47Speaker 9: And then I felt normal after those two outings and
- 25:51Speaker 9: felt like I got back to pitching how I always
- 25:54Speaker 9: knew I could.
- 25:56Speaker 10: So you feel like the Yankees set you up for
- 25:58Speaker 10: success once you made it to the big leagues. It
- 26:00Speaker 10: didn't really matter where it was going to be. Or
- 26:03Speaker 10: was there more pressure when you got on the mound
- 26:06Speaker 10: in Yankee Stadium, when you got on the mound in
- 26:09Speaker 10: the big leagues.
- 26:10Speaker 9: For the Yankees, Yeah, I mean they know what they're
- 26:15Speaker 9: doing there for sure, and it's a great organization, probably
- 26:20Speaker 9: just a little tougher, like you said, a little more
- 26:21Speaker 9: pressure they you know, they're they're suspected to win every
- 26:24Speaker 9: game and go to the World Series every year. So
- 26:27Speaker 9: you kind of feel that vibe when you get up
- 26:29Speaker 9: there for the first time and it's not quite like,
- 26:34Speaker 9: you know, we're just playing baseball, there's there's a lot
- 26:36Speaker 9: more intangibles involved, and I think you know some people,
- 26:41Speaker 9: they go out there and have a great first outing
- 26:44Speaker 9: that kind of just sets you up for success because
- 26:47Speaker 9: it gets it out of the way. But for me,
- 26:49Speaker 9: I had a great debut, didn't stick around, and then
- 26:53Speaker 9: just you know, had a bad one at the wrong
- 26:56Speaker 9: time for my first one last year and just bounced
- 26:59Speaker 9: around because of that. But once I once I got
- 27:02Speaker 9: to d C, I felt felt like myself and like
- 27:06Speaker 9: I said, the staff here was just at the staff
- 27:09Speaker 9: that we had at the time was great and.
- 27:11Speaker 8: Let you know, let me know how good I am.
- 27:13Speaker 9: And that I wasn't going anywhere, and then I have
- 27:16Speaker 9: big league stuff and just to go run with it.
- 27:20Speaker 5: Clayton, you mentioned the new staff. What is it like
- 27:22Speaker 5: being older than your manager? What's it like being older
- 27:25Speaker 5: than Blake? And terror do you tell him? Do you
- 27:27Speaker 5: tell him to go get you coffee? Or does he
- 27:30Speaker 5: still control that.
- 27:32Speaker 8: Hey, I'm not that old man. It's definitely weird, but
- 27:38Speaker 8: you look old.
- 27:38Speaker 6: Listen.
- 27:39Speaker 5: I know you're not as old as Blake, but until
- 27:41Speaker 5: you've seen Blake in person, you were like, there is
- 27:43Speaker 5: no way that he is a big league manager.
- 27:46Speaker 9: Yeah, I wouldn't say like his you know, when I
- 27:49Speaker 9: talked to him, he seems very I mean like a
- 27:52Speaker 9: big league manager.
- 27:55Speaker 8: Yeah, but when I stand next to.
- 27:56Speaker 9: Him, I'm kind of like, man, I I can't believe, like,
- 28:01Speaker 9: our whole staff is this young, but they know so
- 28:04Speaker 9: much and it's actually crazy how much they've changed everything
- 28:08Speaker 9: for the better as far as I mean, we're just
- 28:11Speaker 9: flooded with the right information. They're they're always confident in
- 28:14Speaker 9: what they are telling us, and I just I think
- 28:17Speaker 9: it's been a huge help. I mean, you can see
- 28:19Speaker 9: on the hitting side already we freaking rake and they.
- 28:24Speaker 8: They attribute a lot of that to the new staff.
- 28:26Speaker 9: So I think it's been great and I think, you know,
- 28:29Speaker 9: it's promising for the future.
- 28:31Speaker 10: What do you have to do homework as pitchers too,
- 28:33Speaker 10: because we heard that the hitters have to do homework
- 28:35Speaker 10: and I'm not about that life.
- 28:38Speaker 9: We had a little homework in the spring training. I
- 28:42Speaker 9: will say, I'm not the biggest homework guys. Pretty easy
- 28:46Speaker 9: when you only have two pitches, So this cutting report
- 28:50Speaker 9: isn't too tough.
- 28:52Speaker 7: Well, yeah, that's what I want to know.
- 28:53Speaker 5: Do you like they were told that the hitters have
- 28:55Speaker 5: to circle where they want to hit the ball. Do
- 28:58Speaker 5: you have to circle where you want to throw the
- 28:59Speaker 5: ball to each hitter? Do you have to go through
- 29:02Speaker 5: and say, hey, if I'm facing Aaron Judge, I have
- 29:05Speaker 5: to throw the ball here and not here. Do you
- 29:08Speaker 5: get different color highlighters? Do you get different color pens?
- 29:11Speaker 5: How does this all work? Because this is all new,
- 29:12Speaker 5: because I would have been like, I don't want to
- 29:14Speaker 5: do no damn omark.
- 29:15Speaker 8: Yeah. I think the staff does a lot of arts
- 29:17Speaker 8: and crafts.
- 29:18Speaker 9: We had one paper in spring training where they kind
- 29:21Speaker 9: of just I think they were trying to get to
- 29:22Speaker 9: know us and help us understand our stuff. So we
- 29:26Speaker 9: filled that out for you know, lefties and varieties with
- 29:29Speaker 9: each pitch.
- 29:30Speaker 8: But like I said, I had two.
- 29:33Speaker 9: Pitches and I'm going to throw both of them to
- 29:36Speaker 9: every hitter, So it wasn't very hard for me to
- 29:39Speaker 9: fill that.
- 29:39Speaker 10: Thing out, all right, Clayton, My last question, I think
- 29:43Speaker 10: it's our last question overall. Command is something that you've
- 29:46Speaker 10: struggled with even when you were in the minor leagues
- 29:48Speaker 10: and now you know, in the big leagues. Do you
- 29:50Speaker 10: feel like it's something that you'll always struggle with or
- 29:54Speaker 10: do you feel like it's something that is a slow
- 29:57Speaker 10: trickle of learning. Okay, well this is why my and
- 30:00Speaker 10: is off. Or do you ascribe to the theory of
- 30:04Speaker 10: nobody cares how hard ballfour is thrown?
- 30:10Speaker 9: I would say, obviously, I'm not ever trying to walk people.
- 30:14Speaker 8: You know, I want to be attacking people right from
- 30:15Speaker 8: the jump.
- 30:17Speaker 9: But I also believe that I have the stuff to
- 30:21Speaker 9: you know, I don't think I'm ever going to give
- 30:24Speaker 9: up a hit. I know I'm going to occasionally, but
- 30:27Speaker 9: that's the way I believe out there.
- 30:29Speaker 8: So I'm never trying to give in to a hitter.
- 30:33Speaker 9: And if I walk somebody, I'm confident that I can
- 30:36Speaker 9: strike out the next three.
- 30:38Speaker 8: I don't. Obviously I'm not.
- 30:40Speaker 9: I want to limit the walks as best I can,
- 30:42Speaker 9: and I'm always working on my delivery and trying to,
- 30:46Speaker 9: you know, get things dialed into where it's comes out
- 30:49Speaker 9: where I want every time. But I think a little bit,
- 30:53Speaker 9: I'm I'm trying to punch everybody out and sometimes I'm
- 30:56Speaker 9: going to walk people, and I'm trying to be confident
- 30:59Speaker 9: that I'm not going to let those walks hurt me.
- 31:03Speaker 2: Hey, Clayton, last one for you.
- 31:04Speaker 1: What is something that you really love to do off
- 31:08Speaker 1: the field passion, something that you could do if you
- 31:11Speaker 1: have a few hours day off, like what's your.
- 31:13Speaker 8: Thing golf and hunt? Hunting in the off season, golfing
- 31:19Speaker 8: in the season.
- 31:20Speaker 1: All right, well, yeah, those are the classic answers. So
- 31:23Speaker 1: that plus video games, I would say are the top
- 31:25Speaker 1: three in baseball. So you usually have plenty of friends
- 31:28Speaker 1: if you want to go on a trip like that.
- 31:30Speaker 5: I tell you what, I tell you what his new
- 31:32Speaker 5: passion is is watching Texas Tech football. So how much
- 31:35Speaker 5: did Clayton Beater give to Texas Tech to get them
- 31:38Speaker 5: all them new players? Because they had like the highest
- 31:40Speaker 5: payroll in the league last year, behind like Ohio State.
- 31:45Speaker 9: If they want to give me an extension right now,
- 31:47Speaker 9: I'll be glad to donate something to Texas Tech.
- 31:50Speaker 5: But call to Bony. We better get on the phone
- 31:54Speaker 5: with to Bony. That extension done. I don't know. I
- 31:57Speaker 5: don't think he went to Texas Tech though. I think
- 31:59Speaker 5: he didn You go Ta went to d c Oh.
- 32:03Speaker 1: Yeah, to Bony's a Boston guy though, isn't he a
- 32:06Speaker 1: diving league guy?
- 32:07Speaker 8: Though?
- 32:08Speaker 6: I mean he comes across.
- 32:09Speaker 8: From from Cally, from San fran.
- 32:11Speaker 6: Oh, that's right.
- 32:11Speaker 7: He went to Cal.
- 32:14Speaker 5: He went to Cal, yeah, because we talked about it
- 32:15Speaker 5: with him, because he played with Simeon.
- 32:17Speaker 6: Didn't he play with Simeon and Cow?
- 32:22Speaker 7: Yes?
- 32:22Speaker 8: Yeah he did.
- 32:24Speaker 2: Yes.
- 32:24Speaker 5: Thank you Clayton, thank you, Thank you for proven Scott
- 32:27Speaker 5: wronging me right, thank you.
- 32:28Speaker 2: No, I think he went to Notre Dame. Sorry real quick,
- 32:31Speaker 2: ask who's in there?
- 32:32Speaker 6: Why don't we google it?
- 32:36Speaker 8: I've heard he went to both Cal and Notre Dame.
- 32:39Speaker 7: Wow, you're all right.
- 32:42Speaker 5: You know he went to Call and played shortstop and
- 32:45Speaker 5: then he it says, but then he went to You
- 32:47Speaker 5: got an NBA, but that doesn't count.
- 32:48Speaker 6: He didn't play in Notre Dame. He just he went
- 32:50Speaker 6: there because he was really smart.
- 32:52Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 32:52Speaker 2: Well, it just says education on his LinkedIn.
- 32:54Speaker 6: I know I'm looking at his wik.
- 32:57Speaker 7: Doesn't know anything about college greatly, so.
- 33:00Speaker 5: If I got two classes. But he was part of
- 33:03Speaker 5: the twenty eleven Golden Bears that played in the World Series.
- 33:06Speaker 6: See boom.
- 33:07Speaker 2: We'll keep duging it out.
- 33:08Speaker 8: Clayton.
- 33:08Speaker 2: You do your thing. It's been fun to watch so far.
