Peter Balraj just received a 45-year sentence for the murder of his former tenant, Christopher Vargas, in a botched rent dispute that spiraled into violence. Convicted alongside his daughter’s boyfriend and Walls’ roommate, Balraj was also found guilty of aggravated assault and tampering with evidence. The fatal shooting occurred during a confrontation in December 2022, and while Gomez and Walls have already been sentenced, Balraj’s punishment now closes the legal chapter on a tragedy that began over unpaid rent.
