- 0:00Welcome back everybody. It's been quite a long time.
- 0:04A lot of stuff has happened, both good and bad, and we're
- 0:12here to jump right into it, remember?
- 0:14Who you represent, Remember who you represent.
- 0:18I know You ready. I love it though.
- 0:19Let's do it. Well, how you been?
- 0:21How you been? Good.
- 0:23Thanks for having me on it once again.
- 0:25It's always a thank. You for being on.
- 0:27Of course, it's always a pleasure to have to be.
- 0:29On with you. It's always a pleasure to have
- 0:31you on man. So where do you want to start?
- 0:37You know, I know what to say. We got a lot, we got a lot of
- 0:40data at this point. You know, I know you really want
- 0:44to touch on the the mid season report.
- 0:47You know, being that you're a teacher, I know this is near and
- 0:49dear to you. So like, you know, you, you take
- 0:52it, you take account for your students and you and you extend
- 0:56accountability. So, you know, the Tigers players
- 0:58aren't your students. You are their elders.
- 1:00For the older than them, yeah. Funny you should say that.
- 1:04That brings me to a perfect point.
- 1:07Taking accountability for my students and you know, if I had
- 1:10players, my players, something Brian Kelly fails to do week in
- 1:15and week out. This take accountability, not
- 1:18for the players because he's those are the first people he
- 1:21throws under the bus, but for his terrible coaching staff that
- 1:28he's put together on the offensive side of the ball.
- 1:30I think of a while back, I think it was after the Florida game,
- 1:34he actually went out there and admitted to this, that because
- 1:38the defense is so good, we've held the offense back.
- 1:42Then when they called him out for being stupid and saying that
- 1:45out loud and having that as a conscious thought, he quickly
- 1:49turned around and said, oh, it's because Garrett Nussmeyer has an
- 1:52abdomen injury. No, they swore.
- 1:54They swore up and down like all offseason was sworn up and down.
- 1:59You know, just hearing some of them always.
- 2:00I don't know where they're getting that from.
- 2:02They brother It's it's coming from.
- 2:03So did I just don't make that up.
- 2:06Like I don't think they make, they're never.
- 2:08Going to make something up, but Brian Kelly's the king of not
- 2:12taking accountability for stuff which you put some of the
- 2:14offensive numbers up if my computer.
- 2:17Would act right? Yeah, I got I could pull that
- 2:19right here for no reason Why I was really sorry too.
- 2:22It's crazy. Yeah, I got it.
- 2:25So I took the time to get some stats for LSU offense and LSU
- 2:28defense. 1st, I'm going to start with the good LSU defense.
- 2:31I want to give them the quick, the biggest shout out real
- 2:34quick. As of right now, through six
- 2:37games, you know, our Tigers, they're allowing 12.2 points a
- 2:40game. That's fourth in the country.
- 2:42Only three schools at the Power at the D1 level, the Power 5
- 2:45level are better. Yeah, only three schools are
- 2:47better ranked better as of right now.
- 2:49And we're in the top 25 in both yards allowed and rush yards
- 2:53allowed per game. So.
- 2:55Me. That's pretty good.
- 2:57Me. Out of 136 teams, absolutely
- 3:00without question. Yeah, that is you can't ask for
- 3:03more from a defensive staff that last year ranks almost at the
- 3:08bottom and everything. Really.
- 3:10The last two years. Yeah, with the exception of that
- 3:13Ole Miss game, we give one up an average of 10 points a game.
- 3:18Yes. And if you defend, if your
- 3:20offense can stay out on the field for longer, we would be a
- 3:24lot better. Listen, you could, regardless of
- 3:27how much you stay on the field, listen, you got to get in the
- 3:30you got to score touchdowns. Yeah, I know.
- 3:32Like a famous saying, you know, there's there's a lid on the end
- 3:35zone, there's a lid on the basket.
- 3:37I said, listen, there's no lid on our pots and skillets.
- 3:40We once we it's like, it's like me going to the kitchen and I'm
- 3:43putting up something in the crock pot right now.
- 3:45If I go in the kitchen and it's like there's no lid on it and I
- 3:49just turn away. I mean, there's no lid on it.
- 3:51Yeah, just for example, there's no lid on it.
- 3:54I mean, I can eat when I want. The LSU often is going to the
- 3:58getting in the red zone, getting to the goal lines.
- 4:00We just we had two takeaways at the goal line this past game at
- 4:06the goal. Line and one of those, one of
- 4:08those that interception on the goal line man Brian Kelly can
- 4:13say all he wants about was an RPO and he's responsible for
- 4:18that safety. Your offensive coordinator is
- 4:21also responsible for not calling boneheaded place.
- 4:25You know it will, it will be. Listen, I can see this in Jaden,
- 4:29but listen, I mean Gary's not an RPO quarterback.
- 4:32Yeah, really good. I mean not.
- 4:33RPO quarterback that's a hurt. RPO hurt quarterback in debt.
- 4:38You know what reminds what That reminds me of Fountain.
- 4:42Seattle versus New England when you should have just handed the
- 4:48ball off and ran it and took the touchdown.
- 4:54We throw it and we throw a pick on the 1 yard line.
- 4:58Yeah. That's right.
- 4:59And if that was any other team out there, they would have beat
- 5:05us. That can't happen this weekend.
- 5:07Yeah, and you know, it's interesting real quick about
- 5:09that game. I was working at Walgreens at
- 5:11the time. I had like just started working
- 5:13there like for maybe a month, maybe like 3 weeks.
- 5:16And I was there a guy, I was on the registry had a guy that came
- 5:20in, you know, he said he talked about the game, you watched the
- 5:21game, you heard about the game. I said who won?
- 5:24He said New England. I said he asked me a question.
- 5:26He answered the question. He said if you are, if you the
- 5:29Seahawks and you, you inside the five yard line, who are you
- 5:33giving the ball to? I said beast mode.
- 5:36I like beast mode. But and like I said, like if
- 5:38you're not going to give it, give it to beast mode.
- 5:41You need to at least have Marshall Lynch as a decoy at the
- 5:43very least. He wasn't even on the field.
- 5:47He he wasn't even on the like he's one of the best running
- 5:49backs in the in the league at the time.
- 5:51And then you have to give defeat the balls.
- 5:54Yeah, defeat the balls to the best player.
- 5:57Like if if you if you feed it to beast mode and he gets stopped 3
- 6:01or 4 times, I could live with that because at least I could
- 6:04say I gave it. I put the ball in the best
- 6:06players hand and we lived. We lived and died by the result.
- 6:09Yeah, I mean, you got to be better, but let's see if I can
- 6:13find my notes. X Chad GBT Give me a couple of
- 6:18jokes about Joe Sloan in this offense.
- 6:21No good night. And here's some of my favorite
- 6:25ones. LSU fans keep asking for
- 6:27fireworks and Sloan gives them sparklers.
- 6:29Something I don't understand this one.
- 6:31But LSU's offense under just long as like my phone battery
- 6:34looks good early, then dies at halftime.
- 6:36Man, my phone battery performs better than LSU's offense under
- 6:40just long. This one.
- 6:43Very true. Joe Sloan's favorite formation
- 6:45is 3 and out. I remember going like the
- 6:47Florida listen to Florida game. We had like 443 announced in
- 6:52like the first quarter and they had three in a row to start.
- 6:55I'm like, brother, y'all have to give me something and you know
- 6:59they, they're not I'm, I'm going to spew out the, the offense
- 7:02that real quick just to get it over with.
- 7:04So currently we had, we scored 19 point, just under 20 points a
- 7:07game, 19 point exactly. That ranks US 104th in the
- 7:11country out of 136 teams in the FBS level.
- 7:16We have, we're averaging 344.2 yards per game on offense.
- 7:20That gives us a 91st ranking out of 136 teams.
- 7:26We we only we only have 27, just over 27 Russian attempts per
- 7:30game. That ranks as 128th out of 136
- 7:34teams. We do average 113 rushing yards
- 7:37per game, surprisingly. That's probably because just off
- 7:39the chunk plays alone we've had last week and a couple weeks ago
- 7:43against Florida, that still give us 106.
- 7:46I think that's generous and we average in a 1.6 turnovers per
- 7:50game, which is 97th in the country.
- 7:52Like I said, like I told you and my Co worker for weeks I said
- 7:55there's nothing we do. Well, I've said this, I've said
- 7:58this this whole season thus far, this so far and we got time five
- 8:03seasons. It's just like the 2023 season
- 8:06flipped on its head. It's it's, it's, it's flipped on
- 8:09its head. Which?
- 8:101 And I said, yeah, go ahead. Here's points per game just so
- 8:15people can get the We averaged 19.8 points per game, which is
- 8:20104th in the country this year. A year ago, with practically the
- 8:25same offense, we ranked 30 1/2 points, which made us 40s out of
- 8:31134. That's just strength of schedule
- 8:34that don't matter much. The offense average passing
- 8:37yards 315. I mean, we averaged 116 rushing
- 8:42yards per game. That's nothing to write home
- 8:44about, you know, But I mean, that's just where we are at this
- 8:48point in the season. And you know, I get it.
- 8:51I know. Yeah, go ahead.
- 8:53I get it, Nuss is hurt or was hurt.
- 8:56I've been to him this weekend. Especially when you come out and
- 9:00said that your least mobile player on the field who's your
- 9:04quarterback has a sprained ankle.
- 9:06Just give him another look put in.
- 9:10I don't even remember the kids name because Brian.
- 9:12Taylor BB. So.
- 9:13Sparingly. Van Buren.
- 9:15Yeah, Van Buren put him in, mate.
- 9:17He was an SEC quarterback. Yep.
- 9:21That's right. I mean, I, you know, it's not
- 9:25like he's sticking in one of them.
- 9:26He did. The only time we saw him, it was
- 9:28against Southeastern. But the way Nuts is playing, I
- 9:33mean you could put A1 arm one leg man out there and he'd be
- 9:36better than him. You know, just I know people,
- 9:40you know the biggest story. You know, last few last couple
- 9:43years I've been saying just the offensive line, you know how we
- 9:46lost 4 starters and four or five starters, which is true.
- 9:49I mean, they have they, you know, that's a unit on the field
- 9:54of the team is is strictly continuity, continuity or die.
- 9:58So I get it to the standpoint, but I I'm not going to blame the
- 10:03offensive line for a nush throwing in the triple coverage.
- 10:06Yeah, I'm not, I'm not going to I'm not going to be.
- 10:10Yeah, go ahead. As offensive former offensive
- 10:13lineman from like high school. Yeah, please tell me, can that
- 10:17educate me, brother, please. And people are going to get mad
- 10:19when I say this, but 100% offensive line's fault when that
- 10:24defensive coordinator on the other side of the ball knows he
- 10:28can send the bare minimum and still get pressure on your
- 10:32quarterback and have enough to drop where all your receivers
- 10:36are covered in triple coverage. Double and triple coverage, that
- 10:40is on Brad Davis. That is on Brad Davis and that
- 10:45offensive line. And Brad Davis is on the right
- 10:48underneath Joe Sloan. He is on my fire list.
- 10:51Yeah, yeah, a lot, a lot of people, Yeah.
- 10:56You know, I'm just, you know, and, and The thing is and and
- 11:01one thing I I like to go back to is just I don't need you.
- 11:04Is same thing with like if if the defense was struggling last
- 11:06year, like go back to last two years and the defense struggle.
- 11:09I don't need you to be 2011, 2003 special this year with the
- 11:14offence. I don't need you to be 19.
- 11:17I don't need you to be 20/23/2013 special.
- 11:19Like those are allies for a reason.
- 11:22But you have to give me something like it's you have too
- 11:25much talent on the roster even with the injuries.
- 11:29And it's not like with the even with the injuries, you're you're
- 11:31moving the ball. When you do move the ball, you
- 11:34quickly negate the any momentum you get on the drive.
- 11:38I'll go back to the Florida game with with sharp down the middle.
- 11:40It was like a 65 or something. Like our play who plays later.
- 11:45We we fumble the ball, the ball goes back 1015 yards, it's third
- 11:48and long and those 5 rolls out right to the back to the middle
- 11:53of the field, which is like cardinal sin for a quarterback
- 11:55gets picked off. So you went from a 65 plus yard
- 11:58play to a turnover to coming away empty handed?
- 12:02Yeah, but you know, you look at it though, a lot of nuts, his
- 12:07problems this season has come because Brian Kelly doesn't take
- 12:11care of his players and say, look, we need you to be rested.
- 12:17We got this big game, we need you to rest.
- 12:19We got this nobody team coming in at Week 2, we're going to
- 12:22arrest you because you got the abdomen injury or Southeastern.
- 12:27You know, we could arrest nuts that whole week.
- 12:31If Van Buren can't beat SE and he shouldn't be the #2
- 12:36quarterback on LSUS team, you know.
- 12:39Makes sense? But Speaking of that offensive
- 12:42line, you remember Braden Fajico?
- 12:46Yeah, 2019. Yes, Sir.
- 12:49Sunday morning, this is what he tweeted.
- 12:51Everyone talks about the flash the 2019 LSU had, but it was the
- 12:55culture we built. What's the culture?
- 12:58And he put a video of Thaddeus Moss.
- 13:00You remember that great defensive line that Auburn had
- 13:0419? He had put a video of that is
- 13:07most pancaking one of those great defensive lineman
- 13:10manhandling that defensive line. It's all about attitude.
- 13:14It's all about getting it done. That's what our offensive line
- 13:19lacks. We don't even have big fat guys
- 13:22that we can stick out there to take up space that are hard to
- 13:24move. These kids stand straight up and
- 13:29have no leverage, you know? Yeah.
- 13:33And you know, it's when you when you bring that up, I know, you
- 13:38know, people have mixed feelings about Les, which, you know, one
- 13:40thing Les did have they, they, he got, he has something like,
- 13:44you know, haulers on the old line, you know, just like Rd.
- 13:48graders, you know, all the term, the hogs green wall in Dallas.
- 13:52And if you look at the NFL examples.
- 13:53But just The thing is, I remember like Herman Johnson,
- 13:56you know, he was the the biggest baby that was born in the state
- 13:59of Louisiana. He was like 15 lbs when he was
- 14:01born. That's like all with the lover
- 14:04for LSU, though, you know, just and even then, I don't need you
- 14:09to be that, that elite. I just but you got to give me
- 14:13something yes, that's that's worth respecting like
- 14:17consistently, like I said, they they're not doing anything well
- 14:20to this point. No, I said.
- 14:23This one, I tweeted this out on the podcast page on Saturday
- 14:28night in middle of the third quarter.
- 14:31Joe Sloan is 1/3 rate offensive coordinator who couldn't cut it
- 14:36as a high school offensive coordinator.
- 14:40What makes Brian Kelly think he could be offensive coordinator
- 14:43in SEC? I'm going to just finish this
- 14:44one up. I got, you know, one more, two
- 14:47more. The opposing defenses send Joe
- 14:49Salon a thank you card after every game.
- 14:51But here's my favorite. Joe Sloan's up there and up
- 14:56there with him or his two brain cells, and they're both fighting
- 14:59for 3rd place. I.
- 15:04Mean he is terrible, a 2 year old, 2 year old to go up there
- 15:12in call plays and be better than Joe Sloan.
- 15:17He likes the creativity to do anything.
- 15:20I just The thing is like if, if, if you're not going to be
- 15:23creative, you got to be smart with with the the ball, be at
- 15:27least smart. A lot of stuff that's taking
- 15:30place, yeah. He also, in my opinion, likes
- 15:34the cognitive function to function.
- 15:36His brain basically does the stuff to basic stuff to keep him
- 15:40alive. I mean you tell me on 1/3 in 25
- 15:46in a close game you call a screen.
- 15:48The screen hadn't worked for us in three years.
- 15:51What makes you think a screen is going to work with those garbage
- 15:55offensive line? I remember.
- 15:56Last year. Last year that long that wide
- 16:00receiver screen annoyed as like brother like we would go.
- 16:04We would go deep on 1st down every time like you would take a
- 16:08deep sound for down won't connect.
- 16:10Got to get the Sprint, the screenplay to get yourself to
- 16:13try to salvage the the drive, the chains.
- 16:16Like man, listen, it hasn't worked in two years.
- 16:19And man, you know this. You know this.
- 16:21I've I'm a nuts my fan. Yeah, if he's hurting the team,
- 16:26especially since your offensive coordinator likes the cognitive
- 16:29function to write his name, let alone look at it and say that's
- 16:37not Jaden Daniels out there. This kids not going to run.
- 16:40RPO with a struggling offense and a nominal or hurt non mobile
- 16:45quarterback like Jaden. Yeah, I mean, he's not Jaden
- 16:52James, he's Garrett Nussmeyer. Their games are two different
- 16:55things. You know, you have two different
- 16:57quarterbacks. You need to have two different
- 17:00offensive philosophies for those quarterbacks.
- 17:02And Joe Stallone, I would have fired him a long time ago.
- 17:06Brian Kelly also has no balls because he doesn't answer
- 17:10questions that his radio show. He screens everything.
- 17:13So anything that's going to make him look bad and look more of a
- 17:17clown, and he already is. They don't axe biggest push to
- 17:22the. Side, you know, I've always been
- 17:24a big fan of this. The thing is I remember after
- 17:29the Florida game, he had snapped on the reporter after being
- 17:32asked a legitimate question. I'm all I appreciate him
- 17:35defending this guys. But The thing is, these are
- 17:40legitimate questions. I said before, like after the
- 17:44Tech game, I said, listen, I could give you a pass for
- 17:48Clemson for several reasons. One, you went on the on the road
- 17:51on national television in a in a a famous hostile environment
- 17:57against a very experienced team who had like the biggest
- 17:59retention rate of roster in the country, NFL players, NFL draft
- 18:04stock players in the first round on the D line, just experienced
- 18:08quarterback on the road. And and another thing just
- 18:12wanted to break the the losing streak on opening on week 1.
- 18:15So I give you a pass for that, even though they weren't very
- 18:19sharp in that offensive game either offensively, you know,
- 18:22they they were, they had made some plays.
- 18:25If you when you get held to 23 points at home against tech,
- 18:29that's when I get a little concerned.
- 18:31Yeah, I know people talk about the let down game.
- 18:33I get I I can get that in the sense.
- 18:35But even with, if you struggle somewhat during the a, a lesser
- 18:39opponent at home, typically you find a way to pull away, meaning
- 18:44scoring 35 + 40 plus and they may score 14, but you, you're
- 18:48already won by 2530 plus points. So any points today score is not
- 18:53going to hinder you that much. So you come away and when you
- 18:57come away with less than 25 points at home, you get now
- 19:01granted, now take this, I get it, D1 school, I get it.
- 19:06So and then I'm not going to take too much away from
- 19:08Southeastern. That's it.
- 19:09That's the FCS opponent, so at home, not going to take too much
- 19:13away. I was glad for their sake that
- 19:15they dominated, but you can't take away from a lesser opponent
- 19:18like that. I mean, what it all boils down
- 19:22to is for the sake of LSU fans everywhere, I hope there's
- 19:27rumors that after they got rid of Franklin at Penn State, to
- 19:31Penn State really wants to come over here to Baton Rouge and
- 19:33take Brian Kelly. As LSU fans, as LSU fans, we
- 19:41should pay part of Frank $20 million of Franklin's 49 million
- 19:46buyout just so they can take Brian Kelly.
- 19:50I'll be at Brian Kelly's house this weekend packing his stuff
- 19:53up. I'll do it for free.
- 19:55I'll do it for free. I'll drive to U-Haul, to Penn
- 19:58State. I'll take the extra cash,
- 20:00brother. God bless you though.
- 20:02I'll take that extra cash. You deserve the extra cash,
- 20:04brother. Feeding the kids, putting it
- 20:07when you're talking to the children, to the future.
- 20:09But I'm so fed up with Brian Kelly, I'll go move him for
- 20:11free. I know as what you know.
- 20:14No, but you. Know most teams, most teams as
- 20:17the season goes on. I mean, look at Alabama, A-Team
- 20:22that's coming up that'll probably beat the brakes off of
- 20:24us because we got a head coach with zero brain cells that
- 20:28doesn't understand how football goes.
- 20:30Apparently he's been doing this forever and when his won his
- 20:34200th game. Don't understand that you're
- 20:37supposed to get better during the season, not get
- 20:39progressively worse. Yeah, we got Vandy.
- 20:42We got Vandy. The good thing is you still got
- 20:44some time. You got Vandy on the road, Texas
- 20:48A&M, Good thing that's here. You know, that's going to be a
- 20:51big off and big test for our defense.
- 20:53But that's going to be if we take care of business or early
- 20:56start for Vandy, take care of business.
- 20:59I mean, there's a guy, give me something, man.
- 21:01Then you got the byway. Then, of course, you got on the
- 21:03road to Bama, Arkansas, as you call them.
- 21:07Yeah. Let's let's Kentucky.
- 21:09By the way, I thought Arkansas was going to be a layup, but.
- 21:13For this season, yeah. Considering what we just
- 21:15witnessed, what they did at Tennessee, they might have lost
- 21:18that game, but they gave Tennessee, who is ranked #12 as
- 21:20much as they can handle. And that's after firing the
- 21:24whole defensive staff. You know, maybe Brian Kelly
- 21:28should look at Bobby Petrino and say I should do what he did and
- 21:31get rid of everybody on the offensive side of the ball.
- 21:33Get rid of the whole coaching staff.
- 21:35The only one I would keep, honestly, just because he's a
- 21:39hell of a recruiter, is Wilson. But he's a shitty ass running
- 21:43back coach. But I told you when I told you
- 21:46about the Nah, it's. Fine, but you know.
- 21:51I told you about that. He is a horrible runnings back
- 21:55coach, running back coach. He is a great recruiter, but you
- 22:00know. That's what college is.
- 22:01That's what that's what it is. A lot of it.
- 22:05Yeah, Well, I really just don't understand how we could have all
- 22:11of these running backs go to these different schools and you
- 22:14know what? All of these running backs who
- 22:15are great and fast and physical, you know what they all have in
- 22:20common, the place they're from, for the most part.
- 22:24A lot of these Louisiana running backs are going to these other
- 22:26schools. And I get it.
- 22:28A lot of these other schools are going to sit up front and pay
- 22:31these freshmen who are not proven at all $1,000,000 to come
- 22:37to school there, you know, But like, look at Ole Miss.
- 22:43It's got to be a coaching thing because Logan digs when he was
- 22:46at LSU, he didn't do anything. They would hit him.
- 22:48They would breathe on him the wrong way and he would fall in
- 22:52against LSU. He had he ran over top guys.
- 22:55Let's see who'd Vandy play this weekend.
- 22:57They were off. Let's.
- 22:58See, yeah, I think they were, yeah, they were off because they
- 23:02they lost to Bama there because the battle played out in
- 23:05Missouri on the road this past Saturday.
- 23:08Yeah, OK, Logan Diggs didn't do that great against us, but he
- 23:13still ran over us for a touchdown.
- 23:15He had two carries for 8 yards and averaged 4 yards every time
- 23:19he had the ball. So maybe he's not that good.
- 23:21Maybe it was just, you know. You know, just you, you get you,
- 23:25you go to get your opportunity. Like I said, I know it's a super
- 23:29slow like so I don't blame the young men to go the opportunity
- 23:34because like I feel like a lot of people, they have this idea
- 23:36that, well, the NFL is going to be there.
- 23:38No, it's not. Not like you think.
- 23:41I mean, that's not a promise to me at all.
- 23:43Yeah, but you know you got Durham.
- 23:48Wouldn't hurt for that Ole Miss game.
- 23:50The game might have ended up differently.
- 23:52Yeah, they just, they just had no interest in running the ball.
- 23:55Only one like what, twice the second-half or something like
- 23:58that. It wasn't.
- 23:59Yeah, it felt like twice like the second-half.
- 24:02I'm like, yeah, that's not going to work.
- 24:03No. Even without missing the game,
- 24:06Durham still you still this the team's leading Russia so far
- 24:10with 283 yards. Yeah.
- 24:13He's the leading Russian. But you know, I'm just looking
- 24:17at this Vandy thing. I never thought I'd see a day
- 24:20where the matchup predictor on ESPN would have Vandy percent.
- 24:27And for the first time, and I think they said 77 years, Vandy
- 24:32opens against the top 10 opponent as a favorite.
- 24:36Yes, like they were like. I think the line is like 2 1/2
- 24:40last time I had heard. Yeah, 2 1/2, It's not a big
- 24:44difference, but it's a, it's a difference.
- 24:48Yeah, I know how like I ultimately don't care about that
- 24:51just because I know like because, you know, they usually
- 24:55favor a lot of the home teams and just they give them that
- 24:58something like couple points just for being at your home
- 25:01spot. But yeah, it's still not a good,
- 25:05you know, when they give them a layup like that.
- 25:10LSU issue is just low hanging fruit.
- 25:12And then done it to myself so far because I didn't leave stuff
- 25:17on the field. Really don't get why we can't,
- 25:20you know, go ahead and get better.
- 25:25What is stopping us, holding us back from getting better?
- 25:28In their own way, like I said, just going back to my point,
- 25:31just of there's nothing, there's nothing I could say outside of
- 25:35talent and spurts of, you know, spurts of plays, occasional
- 25:40circumstances, there's nothing I can point to and say, yeah, that
- 25:44we could hang our hat on outside of talent like this.
- 25:49I mean, it's I just it's it's hard.
- 25:51They're just not fully there yet.
- 25:52And again, you know, just the beauty about this new playoff
- 25:56format like the new playoff formats now is just even with
- 26:00two losses or so you can you get a couple breaks because I
- 26:05remember this time 1015 years ago, you know, you you you get
- 26:09one loss to your seasons as far as title contention is in
- 26:13serious jeopardy. 22 losses will be over.
- 26:15I remember back in 2006, you know, we lost we went ten and
- 26:20two in the regular season, but we lost to Auburn and then we
- 26:23lost to the eventual champion Florida Gators, both on the
- 26:26road. We have played four top ten
- 26:28teams on the road that season, all in the SEC.
- 26:32So just. But the good thing is we have to
- 26:35worry about that as much. Yeah, we've got Vanji this
- 26:39weekend. I'm not sure we can go over
- 26:40there and beat them. Yeah, they, you know.
- 26:43Offensively, they're ranked 4th in the country.
- 26:46Well, 42.42 point, eight points per game, 165 yards per game,
- 26:53yards per play got 7.5. Yeah, all the seven they they
- 26:57ranked top 15 in several categories.
- 26:59They got the number one in points per play.
- 27:01I know you. Don't score and everything is.
- 27:03For what it's worth. Yeah, I'm looking at who they
- 27:06played, with the exception of South Carolina.
- 27:10And South Carolina is not that good of a defense either.
- 27:15The only time that Mandy played. Yeah, the only time Vandy played
- 27:19an actual defense in a high caliber team in the SEC, they
- 27:23only scored 14 points. You know, Yeah, My issue is can
- 27:29our, how do I put this? Can I no show offense to stay on
- 27:33the stay on the field long enough to help the defense out
- 27:37and let them you know, because the at this point the defense is
- 27:40going to win US these games. I mean, they've been doing this
- 27:42so far, which would, if you have to guess, what was the score
- 27:46going to be? But it's coming game with.
- 27:48Them I think it's going to stay in between a three-point game.
- 27:51I don't like it, but I can see it being a three-point game.
- 27:56Even if even if it was 100% healthy.
- 27:59Joe Sloan has just proved time in and time out that he is not
- 28:04worth anything. This Coke bottle could call a
- 28:06better game on offense than Joe Sloan.
- 28:09It was reminded about Nick Saban talk about Pert Kirby Smart and
- 28:13one of his press comments back in the day and the Coke.
- 28:18That's funny. No, but I was I was more worried
- 28:22about Vandy last year is weird because I was more worried about
- 28:25them last year. You know, Pavia Mafia.
- 28:27It had a lot of momentum. I don't know if he's as
- 28:29statistically as strong as he is as he was and we have a better
- 28:33defense. I don't know if you lead ever a
- 28:35high in Russian attack. So you know, obviously.
- 28:38That old man is out enough. That old man hasn't lost a step
- 28:43that much yet. He might be pushing 30 but he
- 28:47mean he's still right shooting for that 7th year early game.
- 28:52Yes, I saw that a few weeks ago. Yeah man, it's crazy.
- 28:58So. I mean, think we can pull it
- 29:00off? Against Bandy on paper, must say
- 29:06on paper, absolutely we have. We just have so much talent it
- 29:11has to produce at the end of the day.
- 29:13As of right now, I'm saying I'm going to say 2313.
- 29:17Like I say, I'm not as I mean just because that deep one.
- 29:24Yeah, not not like I was last year.
- 29:26I'm much higher on our defense, though.
- 29:28It's a role, you know, it's easy.
- 29:29It's not a difficult place to play traditionally.
- 29:32I know they're they're peaking as a program right now, but I
- 29:36just and also I just offensive. I just don't think we're there
- 29:41yet because I haven't seen anything from the first half of
- 29:44the season outside of talent that could say we could have
- 29:47capitalized. I'm just right now, I'm just
- 29:50saying 2313, they just can't lose.
- 29:53That's yeah, that's what it comes down to me.
- 29:55They just can't lose because you have a tough stretch.
- 30:01We get through Vandy, oddly enough.
- 30:06I know A&M is number 4, but for the last 192021222324 last for
- 30:17six years because it went to 18. The home team has won every
- 30:22single game in this series. I don't think that's going to.
- 30:27Change. I don't think that's going to
- 30:29change. I think we beat Texas A&M at
- 30:31home because if they let Jay Johnson down, I think Jay
- 30:34Johnson might RIP the headset off of Brian Kelly and tell him,
- 30:39look, let me show you how this is done and out coach Brian
- 30:42Kelly and beat and maybe Scott Ward will be like Jay Johnson.
- 30:45You could take over as the football coach, too.
- 30:47You know, it's I'm glad you brought that winds up at home
- 30:51just because A&M hasn't beat us in Tiger Stadium since they
- 30:54joined the conference back in 2012.
- 30:57Maybe on the beat us in Tiger Stadium since they've joined the
- 30:59conference. I know like I would say every
- 31:01year is different, but transduce stay the same.
- 31:04They tend to carry on throughout years.
- 31:07You know, Speaking of this trend, what were, what was A&M
- 31:11last year like almost 500 at that time when they beat us,
- 31:16They want a downward spiral. They weren't trended.
- 31:19Upwards. And they beat us and we were
- 31:22four and five or five and we were four and five in 2020.
- 31:27And then we were or no, we, I think we went over and we lost
- 31:31in 2020. In 2019-2020, one, they played
- 31:35at home and we were 5 and 6 going into that game and they
- 31:42were at their peak, I think, and we ended up beating them.
- 31:45Yeah, we've. Yeah, 5 we finna in 2020, and I
- 31:50finished at 5:00 and 5:22 and 1:00, six and seven.
- 31:55Yeah. And then, you know, 22, Brian
- 31:58Kelly's first year at 10:00 and 4:00.
- 32:01And we lost 2 and 3 and 20. Three came back.
- 32:04Yeah, yeah. So it just is back and forth.
- 32:08I got them winning that game because that's not going to
- 32:11stay. You know, it's just going that
- 32:14trends going to keep going until one day LSU goes over there with
- 32:19a new coach and beats them in that cult station.
- 32:22They call it stadium. But going into the next week,
- 32:26Alabama's trending up. As much as I hate to admit it,
- 32:29and I would love to see them burn to the ground, they are
- 32:32trending upwards. They're peeking at the right.
- 32:36Time peeking at the right time. And LSU is not.
- 32:40LSU is the only team in the country, I think to start off as
- 32:44a top three team and then dwindle off.
- 32:48I don't know, to be honest. I don't think they should be a
- 32:50top ten team, you know? The events alone, you know, just
- 32:54carrying them. So I get the case.
- 32:56I mean, they've, they've really like like you said earlier and
- 32:59I, I said it's similar to Florida this year too, is just
- 33:02you just cannot ask for more from a defense in 2025 football,
- 33:08regardless of the level. You just cannot ask for more
- 33:11than from them. And, and people, yeah, I know
- 33:13people you could say like, Oh well, you could score.
- 33:15Pick sixes, scoop. Listen, that's the offense's job
- 33:19is to score. That's not the defensive job.
- 33:20The offense's job is to score. And our defense does a great job
- 33:24of scoring, too. Yeah, they do, but they the
- 33:29offers shouldn't put that on them.
- 33:31That's my that's our job. You on the plays more to score.
- 33:34That's we got to put the games. No, exactly.
- 33:37Exactly. The offense needs to get off
- 33:39their butts and do something but they like.
- 33:42I said they like I said, they missed talent.
- 33:46They have an offensive coordinator whose biggest claim
- 33:49to fame and he had nothing to do with it is Jaden Daniels
- 33:52success. And in all reality, Jaden
- 33:56Daniels went during his offseason and his final season
- 33:59at LSU to California and got what?
- 34:02A quarterbacks coach then came in the LSU and was up there at
- 34:095:00 in the morning watching film and doing what he needed to
- 34:12do to be a better football player.
- 34:14It had nothing to do with Joe Sloan.
- 34:16Joe Sloan was just a quarterback coach on paper.
- 34:18And when somebody heard, when Brian Kelly heard that Joe Sloan
- 34:22was up for another job, he said we got to keep this guy.
- 34:26And he went to him and was trying to make him Co offensive
- 34:28coordinator with den Brock. And Den Brock said, you know
- 34:30what, I'm out and he went to Notre Dame and, you know, here's
- 34:34a different time. And we, you know, you go and you
- 34:38look and you see the grass is greener.
- 34:40We were all like see you Den Brock you would trash.
- 34:43I wouldn't, but thank you. I wasn't one of those people at
- 34:45all. I said.
- 34:46Man, how crazy. Well, I could see the writing on
- 34:49the wall when they would putting us in.
- 34:51In those games when he was the backup and den Brock was the
- 34:55thing. He wasn't calling a game for
- 34:57another quarterback. He's had the same problem as
- 34:59Sloan. The only difference is if he
- 35:03would have, you know, two seasons with nuts, he would have
- 35:08tailored the offense to nuts. You know, it's just that offense
- 35:11is coaching staff and that offense is a mess.
- 35:13Those needs to be major changes. You know, I think we need a new
- 35:18top guy, but let's see what his buyout is right now.
- 35:23Brian Kelly current buyout 62 million as of September 2025.
- 35:29Must be nice to be terrible at your job in when they fire you,
- 35:33they have to pay you $62 million.
- 35:39Costco was going to fire you because you were doing a bad
- 35:41job. You think they would tell y'all
- 35:43I'm going to give you 62 million, what would you do?
- 35:46No, they gave me 62 million. I would listen.
- 35:51I'd run to that often to get that 62.
- 35:54I said tell me, wait, listen, I'll go out the back door.
- 35:57I don't even want the shortcut. I've got the back door.
- 36:00You know, they had, they give me an option with a contract that
- 36:04says we fired, we got to fire you without 'cause you know, we
- 36:08go pay you this. I would do really good at my job
- 36:10for the first couple years and then just start doing terrible.
- 36:15I'm locked. In.
- 36:18I'd lock in for the first couple years and then start doing
- 36:22really bad. But you know, like we said, you
- 36:25know, you got Bobby Petrino back at Arkansas.
- 36:28That's a fascinating story in itself, man.
- 36:31They had it rolling back when we was out, when we was seniors in
- 36:34high school. And honestly, I'm looking at
- 36:38them when they play Tennessee. I don't think they took a step
- 36:40back. He just picked up right where he
- 36:42left off all those years ago. Yeah, yeah.
- 36:45He didn't get to win. I was a bit like he took the
- 36:47number, he took the number 12 team to the country within a
- 36:51field goal, gave them all they could handle.
- 36:57Yeah, they think like when he was there like yeah, like
- 36:59back-to-back double digit win season.
- 37:01So it was yeah, because 2011 they like we were talking about
- 37:05just they had three top ten, the three top ten teams in the
- 37:09country, number one, number two, number three were in the same
- 37:13division. Forget confident they're in the
- 37:15same division. LSU, Bama, Arkansas like if if
- 37:20hypothetically speaking, if they didn't have to play to us or
- 37:24them, they'd be in the national title game because that was the
- 37:27best I've ever seen them and not and I've seen them with Darren
- 37:30McFadden. They were the top five in the
- 37:31country when he was there. But that they'll they was like a
- 37:34step above because with the quarterback situation and the
- 37:37passing game. But you know, it's child to
- 37:41Felix Jones and painkillers 2 back in the day.
- 37:43Yeah. I mean, it was just different
- 37:47back then. It's different nowadays too.
- 37:49But what you going to do? I mean, so you know, looking
- 37:53back at it mid season review, what you thinking?
- 37:56You know, just I like what I see.
- 37:57Obviously defensively they just, I, I know people say no, you can
- 38:02only go up. You you don't even go is up from
- 38:04here. I said you can always get the
- 38:05worse. So just off that alone, I'm just
- 38:08really been thrilled by how they've played.
- 38:11And it's even more impressive with the offensive struggles.
- 38:15A lot of people don't when they rank certain defenses, historic
- 38:18defenses, historic often whoever the case may be, they don't
- 38:21really consider the other side of the ball.
- 38:23I just think like you could be great individual even with the
- 38:27great, you get your credit even with the great offense.
- 38:29But to me it's a different level of dominance and impact when you
- 38:35have a struggling offense that's even more so impressive to me,
- 38:38like 2023 LSU. It's just like if you if people
- 38:43really said sat back and actually did the research the
- 38:47shoes off defence in 20, they were awful.
- 38:50And for Jane to do what he did, of course he had he had help, of
- 38:53course, but he was a driving force.
- 38:55So to for him that off to do what they did with that defence
- 38:59and what this this defence to do with the offence so far, it's
- 39:02it's an incredible accomplishment.
- 39:05Leave. They have immense talent.
- 39:07LSU never going to be void of talent, but talent has to
- 39:10produce. At the end of the day, potential
- 39:12has to produce, has to show up just that I would say if I'm
- 39:17great in the team or I would say AC only because and that's that
- 39:23high because the defense is then that special.
- 39:25So far, the defense. Gives them overall team thing,
- 39:29yes. I'm with you.
- 39:31I'm I'm with you. I give them AC for overall.
- 39:35Yeah. I give that defense and a plus,
- 39:40yes, give the defensive coaching staff, I'll give the defense the
- 39:45most improved in the country. It is hard to argue.
- 39:48It's hard to argue that yeah, because they are the most.
- 39:52Improved defense in the country. Yeah, yeah, I would give the
- 39:56offense pink slips. Would I just say what's?
- 39:59Lower than AF pink slips. I'd give that offensive coaching
- 40:04staff all pink slips. Because you can tell those off
- 40:08when the offense goes out there that none of them know what is
- 40:13going on, you know? And they none.
- 40:15Of them knows what's going on, they look.
- 40:17Confused like when we were talking about two years ago
- 40:19with, you know, Mad House with the defense, I was like, listen,
- 40:23man, just I don't, I never like I'm not for that call for
- 40:26people's jobs. I mean, but you got to you got
- 40:28to produce and with with the resources, you know, the when
- 40:32you when you coach it or put when you put when you coach it
- 40:34as a program that prioritizes the sport that you're involved
- 40:38in. Like you have no excuse about
- 40:40not having the the resources. You have no excuse about not
- 40:42having to buy in. So when you have that poor of a
- 40:45defense with the all time you wasted the all time special
- 40:49offense, I was like, you cannot keep your job.
- 40:52Now. The only reason I'm not going
- 40:53there yet with this offensive staff because like I, I like to
- 40:57give coaching staff time. But if you, if they continue
- 41:00this trend and like they lose like 3 more games, I mean, it's
- 41:04it. I just, it isn't hard for me to
- 41:06argue for your case at that point.
- 41:09Yeah, they still have time, but. See, I'm on the opposite end of
- 41:13the spectrum for you then you. Yeah.
- 41:18This is the midpoint of the season.
- 41:23At this point you should be take.
- 41:25You should be looking 1000% better than you did in Week 1.
- 41:31We have regressed so, so much. And Joe Salone is in charge of
- 41:35the offense. He's in charge of play calling.
- 41:39And you know what makes me not feel so bad about getting rid of
- 41:42him in the middle of the season? It's because his salary is
- 41:481,000,000. Well, you know, I can do.
- 41:51Listen, pay off these bills, baby.
- 41:53You know what? You may you.
- 41:55Still have some stuff leftover. And you make $1,000,000 and you
- 42:00are that bad at your job, Yes you get fired in the middle of
- 42:03the season. I mean I'm all for giving
- 42:05chances, but he had his first chance last year and he is
- 42:08failing at his second chance. Get rid of him.
- 42:11He's not doing what he's supposed to be doing.
- 42:15Yeah. You know he's not getting in.
- 42:17Context, like I said, I mean it it wouldn't to be honest, I
- 42:20wouldn't be shocked either way if he stays the goal.
- 42:23But like like I said, good thing is this this is a mid season
- 42:26report cards yeah, you got you you got have your work cut out.
- 42:30You're in the heart of the conference schedule now.
- 42:32So it's you only have one non conference game from here on
- 42:35out. So it's.
- 42:37And that might be the if the way Joe Sloan calls these games,
- 42:40that might be the only win on the season in the last six
- 42:42games. He better hope not.
- 42:44He better. Hope we might be looking at a We
- 42:46might be looking. At a repeat.
- 42:48What you were going to? Say, looking at a what?
- 42:50No, we're going to say like. What you were going to?
- 42:53Say, looking at another Yeah, I was going to say just like I
- 42:56can't. They're trending towards 2023
- 42:59all over again, just in reverse order.
- 43:01I just don't want to have that same storyline again two years
- 43:04like 2 years later because it's just you wasted historic units,
- 43:10you know what I mean? Yeah.
- 43:12I think we're trending. There's one thing you're both of
- 43:14you guys are. There's one thing you're both,
- 43:16both units are bad. Like if both units struggle,
- 43:19like if both units were ranked in the hundreds, that that's one
- 43:22thing because it's like you guys, not you just cancelling
- 43:24each other out. You're not helping each other at
- 43:26all. But if you, if you're, if you
- 43:28bring it down the one the other side of the ball that much,
- 43:31listen man, you give yourself less leverage.
- 43:36So yeah. Look, I think to be honest, we
- 43:42are going towards the 2020 and 2021 outcome because I'm just
- 43:49looking at what's left on our schedule in I think we might be
- 43:53a seven and five team this year. I think we beat Western Kentucky
- 43:57and I think we can beat Texas A. But with the way Jones, Joe
- 44:04Sloan calls this offense in these plays, throwing the ball
- 44:09down the field, 50 yard passes, down the field on 1st down,
- 44:14running the ball on 2nd down, up the middle, might I add, and
- 44:18then trying to run a wide receiver screen when you get
- 44:22tackled for a loss and you got 15 yards to go, that's not going
- 44:26to cut it. It makes our pointer look really
- 44:28good. But nuts has drafts.
- 44:30Nuts has. Drafts like just a lot of the
- 44:32like, let me tell you, just like with just the whole quarterback
- 44:35class this year going to Cave Club.
- 44:37Nick, you got Garrett a Drew Allen.
- 44:40I know he got hurt, but you know, but he's he hasn't.
- 44:44He has the best. I never really see him as
- 44:46special, like I said, I mean, as a lot of that's with the
- 44:50traditional culture playing style up there.
- 44:53But you know, just it's interesting to see like, you
- 44:56know, I think I saw like a glance at the mock draft.
- 44:58It's like really dominated by defensive players so far.
- 45:02Yeah. So.
- 45:04Lucky for nuts. Lucky for nuts.
- 45:06I think they're taking it. They're taking him as he's hurt,
- 45:11you know? Yeah, and because he's still
- 45:14sitting at a mid first round pick.
- 45:17And this. If he don't step it up, he's
- 45:19going to be. Just different.
- 45:21Yeah. All right, listen, I agree.
- 45:23Yeah. Well, we are getting to that
- 45:27mark where it starts to go South Cross with the at the minimum.
- 45:35Yeah. So I think we're think we got a
- 45:39good stopping point today. Yeah, like I said, brother, it's
- 45:42always, always a pleasure to be all with you.
- 45:44Always. It's a privilege to be on your
- 45:46show. It really is.
- 45:47I don't think it lightly. I don't think it for granted.
- 45:50So just it's always good to talk.
- 45:53I say, you know, we love our Tigers.
- 45:55Like we got, we got potential. We've got potential, man.
- 45:58It's just they just got to put it.
- 46:00They got to give me something offensively, man, because like,
- 46:03I can't. That's why, you know, notice we
- 46:05what we did today, we didn't nitpick about defense.
- 46:07I'm not going to nitpick about a unit that's carrying the team
- 46:10that'll be like 2023. Like you talk about Jayden,
- 46:13couple of Jayden Daniels bad decisions.
- 46:15I'm like he's carrying the team. I'm I'm not going to nitpick
- 46:18about that exactly, At least not right now.
- 46:20I'm not going to nitpick. About what the defense is doing.
- 46:24This would have been last year, the year before that it would be
- 46:27different. Yeah.
- 46:29We'd be nitpicking at the defense and probably leave an
- 46:33offense alone, but you know, it's a huge just long as the
- 46:36most uncreative man on planet, I mean.
- 46:41But hey, we got. Don't know much more I could
- 46:43say. But with that, yeah, it is.
- 46:46We have an announced, I have an announcement to make next week.
- 46:49We are going to do it, try to do a live show.
- 46:52We'll see how it goes, but we're going to shoot for the live
- 46:54show. I got a new set up, some mics
- 46:56and new cameras coming in. We're going to shoot for a live
- 47:00show probably next Wednesday. We'll see.
- 47:04We'll see. So we'll see.
- 47:05Just keep me posted, brother. I know you're going to keep the
- 47:08people posted. Yeah.
- 47:10I'm gonna keep y'all, everybody posted, you know, like share it
- 47:16and subscribe would be huge, huge thing for me for this
- 47:23channel for this. And comment while you had it.
- 47:27Exactly, you know and y'all have a great day, great night,
- 47:33whatever you have just make it a great one.
- 47:35Love you brother, that went love you too.
- 47:38That went well. Are we still recording?
