Transcript
- 0:51A, Hey, y' all, welcome to this week's show. I'm getting
- 1:02a little late start this week. Here. It is Wednesday, and I
- 1:04haven't even put out a podcast yet. I did the Census Fidelium podcast an
- 1:11interview last Thursday, I guess it went live on Friday, and the response
- 1:19has been absolutely overwhelming, absolutely overwhelming, really grateful. I hope I get
- 1:29to do it again some time. If you haven't checked that one out,
- 1:30do so. It's on YouTube as well as every podcast you know hosting platform,
- 1:37I guess you would say, but I mean for the feedback to book
- 1:41sales, new subscribers. It's been a bit of a whirlwind actually, so
- 1:48that's great. But we'll jump right into this one, and knowing you know,
- 1:53it's probably the only podcast I get a chance to do this week here
- 1:57on The Uncensored Catholic, I have to do tomorrow my herbal Medicine for Preppers
- 2:02podcast, and that's a commitment I have someone else, so you know,
- 2:07I can't drop the ball on that one. Let's well, of course,
- 2:13obviously I'll do the best I can on this one. But I think the
- 2:15topics are you're gonna find really interesting. This may actually be a very controversial
- 2:22one, and it's not my own words. Boy, there's a lot of
- 2:25controversial stuff I could talk about, but yeah, politics and everything going on
- 2:34right now. I'll probably save that for another day because I could really go
- 2:38off. I mean, I could do like a Steve Bannon style rant for
- 2:40about the next forty five minutes. And I don't think you tuned in for
- 2:44that, but maybe he did. Who does the first thing we'll do?
- 2:50We always heard of the book? Radio replies a couple of questions and answers
- 2:53from Protestants to a couple of Catholic priests in the I guess the forties.
- 2:58I mean, this is an old book. It's really really good. The
- 3:00person says, does the Catholic Church recognize the Greek Orthodox Church as part of
- 3:07itself? Now this is a big controversy right now, really, especially among
- 3:14Catholics. For some reason, we've been a lot of us, not myself
- 3:17included, have been convinced that the Greek and Russian Orthodox, etc. The
- 3:23Orthodox Churches are validly Catholic. In reality, they do have valid orders because
- 3:34they come down through the apostles, but they are not Catholic. There's a
- 3:39big schism there, and they are more conservative, certainly a little bit more
- 3:47faithful to the teachings of the Bible and the Apostles right now than many of
- 3:54our Catholics of Francis. Obviously, even though the document issue just I guess
- 4:00yesterday, on the church's stance on like transgenderism and home sexual it's really darn
- 4:05good. I mean that that's as conservative and true to Orthodox teachings as can
- 4:12be. But on a lot of social issues, the Orthodox are definitely kicking
- 4:16our butts. I mean, let's be honest, but they're not Catholic,
- 4:21and we can't just convert willy nilly because we don't like what the pope said,
- 4:27or because our priest is a liberal. I've had a liberal priest.
- 4:31Gosh, that was a shock. The priest that brought me into the church
- 4:34was conservative and traditional as can be. He loved Pope John Paul a second,
- 4:39he loved Benedict, and I mean politically, socially, and especially religiously,
- 4:47very orthodox and true tradition. And then I end up in a place
- 4:53with a priest from Pittsburgh who I guess grew up at a Union family and
- 5:00was liberal bordering on communist and angry, very angry and cussed a lot,
- 5:10like during Mass, would yell at people and cuss at them. It was
- 5:15actually a very good confessor. He had a very tender heart. I came
- 5:19to like him. But if that had been my first exposure to the Catholic
- 5:24Church, I don't think I could have I don't know what I would have
- 5:28done, because I knew the Catholic Church was true. If I had had
- 5:30to put up with his rants against any Republican, just put an R on
- 5:38the end of it. He hated it all. I mean, he and
- 5:42his praise of people like Pelosi and Biden and his anger. I honestly,
- 5:48I don't know what I would have done. That was. That was weird,
- 5:54That was rough, and he was my priest for a good five years
- 5:59and one day when he just absolutely went off on I guess the church secretary
- 6:03from the pulpit and I mean just custer out. I mean, like you
- 6:09would not believe in a church of mostly retired folks, a big church.
- 6:15It had to be at least eight nine hundred people there. Somebody finally complained
- 6:19to the bishop and he was moved along. But yeah, yeah, that
- 6:26was an experience. Anyways, Going to the question the person asked, does
- 6:30the Catholic Church recognize the Greek Orthodox Church, and they answered no. As
- 6:33a matter of fact, there is no one Greek Orthodox Church. There are
- 6:38many independent Greek churches. They originated by rebellion against the Catholic Church in the
- 6:44ninth century and have split into many different allegiances. As long as they refuse
- 6:48to submit to the authority of the Catholic Church, they are as much outside
- 6:51of the Catholic Church as the Protestant variations. That's what people don't really understand
- 6:58these days, and the Orthodox Church are as much separated as we are from
- 7:05the Anglicans and the Lutherans. Unfortunately, the person asks how does the Greek
- 7:12Church differ from the Catholic Church, and they answer the Greek Churches are both
- 7:16schismatical and heretical. They are separated from the obedience due to the authority of
- 7:21Christ in his true Church. They acknowledge no infallible head, no pope.
- 7:28In other words, they may retain valid orders and the Mass, things which
- 7:31Protestantism lost, but they have fallen into errors concerning the Holy Trinity, the
- 7:36Immaculate Conception, purgatory, and various other points of Christian doctrine may as well
- 7:44see Catholic doctrine, because the only true Christian doctrine is Catholic doctrine. Why
- 7:47can't I say that so boldly? Well, because Jesus said to his apostles,
- 7:51those who hear you hear me, and those who reject you reject him
- 7:55who sent me. I did a nice little post on social media yesterday about
- 8:01the Saints, and some you know, Protestant got back and said, you
- 8:05cannot pray to the saints. They're dead people. They can't hear You know
- 8:07that. I said, you know what. I said this to y'all a
- 8:11million times. You know it. Jesus left us a church, not a
- 8:13Bible. The church gave us the Bible some three hundred years after the resurrection.
- 8:20Jesus gave to his church the ability to infallibly teach. If the Church
- 8:24says someone's in heaven is therefore a saint, they are because he gave them
- 8:28the power to bind and loose. Even if there was a question if the
- 8:33Church officially declared someone a saint, they are because Jesus gave them a power
- 8:37to wall. He said, what you bind on earth, will we be
- 8:39bound in heaven? What you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
- 8:43So the Catholic Church declaring someone a saint is the surest guarantee that they are
- 8:48actually a saint, and that it has been the unbroken tradition of Catholic teaching
- 8:54for two thousand years. Even for the time of the Saint, the apostles
- 8:58were still alive. That we are to ask for the intercession of saints pray
- 9:03to meaning from the Latin pricata, meaning to ask ask them to pray for
- 9:07us, just as you'd ask your brother, your sister, your friend,
- 9:11your mother to pray for you, because they are more alive in heaven than
- 9:13we are on earth. The very fact that the Catholic Church has taught that
- 9:18and continues to teach it means that it is true because Jesus guaranteed that every
- 9:24single doctrine of the Catholic Church would be absolutely, infallibly true. Pretty hard
- 9:31to believe in Jesus and not in his church, but unfortunately many people do.
- 9:35All right, let's get into the very appropriate. I tell you how
- 9:39these books mirror each other. It's just weird. I don't plan it this
- 9:43way. I didn't even did I start reading. No, I didn't.
- 9:46I started with father's Barago's book before I started radio replies. We went into
- 9:50in depth about the Masonic Order and such months ago. The topic in Sparago's
- 9:58exhaustive explanation of the catech of the Catholic Churches. The Catholic Church alone gives
- 10:03salvation. What a statement? Now? Is that controversial? Yeah? Yeah,
- 10:09that actually sounds arrogant unless you actually realize it's the only institution on earth,
- 10:15authorized and guaranteed by God with the sole mission of bringing people salvation.
- 10:22No other church on earth was given that commission by Christ. In other words,
- 10:28he says, outside of the Catholic Church, there is no salvation.
- 10:31I think that's a quote from Saint Augustine, if I'm not mistaken. The
- 10:35Catholic Church alone gives salvation, i e. The Catholic Church alone possesses those
- 10:39means which lead to salvation viz. Or vis a viv you know, I
- 10:45E. However you want to put it. He always just said viz.
- 10:46With a abbreviation. The doctrine of Christ, the means of salvation appointed by
- 10:54Christ, and the teachers and guides of the Church established by Christ. The
- 10:58church cannot teach that truth and error lead equally well to salvation. She makes
- 11:05no declaration as to who is saved, but states only that there is,
- 11:09but state's only what is necessary for salvation. I guess she does say declare
- 11:15saints, so I guess that is saying that someone is saved. But I
- 11:18think he means in his earthly life. We'll just go with that. The
- 11:22judgments of particular individuals is left to God, who searches hearts. Her doctrine
- 11:28is not a declaration of intolerance to the individual, but of intolerance to error,
- 11:33such as an intolerance as God himself expressed when he forbade false gods to
- 11:37appear before him, and such as First Corinthians five. So far as the
- 11:41church, so far is the church from hating those outside her pale Another old
- 11:48phrase. Her pale means her authority essentially, or her territory, if you
- 11:52want to think about that. For instance, the Ashkenazi Jews when they settled
- 11:58in well from Germany up into Ukraine and Russia, that was a settlement of
- 12:03Jews known as the pale pa l e like you know, pale skin or
- 12:07something. It doesn't mean anything about being pale. It means it was a
- 12:11territory. And so you often read old books and they say within the pale.
- 12:16Now she meant in the Jewish territory. In this case, he's talking
- 12:20about under the authority of the Catholic Church. So the Church is so far
- 12:24from hating those outside her pale that in her public prayers on Good Friday she
- 12:28begs God God's mercy for them. The persecutions of the Middle Ages formed no
- 12:33part of the work of the Church, which desired not the death but the
- 12:37conversion of the sinner. It was the civil power which used forces to repress
- 12:41heretics because as a rule, they disturbed, they disturbed the public peace and
- 12:46morality. It's very true. I mean prices, it's got all upset about.
- 12:48You know the Inquisition for instance. Well, it was the Spanish government
- 12:58that sentenced those people to be tried, and they had the option of choosing
- 13:03a civil trial or church trial, and they knew the Church would treat them
- 13:07more fairly. It was always the civil authorities, the kings, and they're
- 13:13you know, people that ruled under them, that persecuted people. Never the
- 13:16Church. The Church has never persecuted any people on earth, regardless what people
- 13:22like the Waldensians and such, say, I mean they have this. There's
- 13:26a you know, outdoor drama play right here in North Carolina and Baldiese where
- 13:30every year they show how the Catholic Church persecuted the Waldensians for wanting to read
- 13:35the Bible. It's absolute fiction, absolutely made up one faults, but boy
- 13:41do they believe it. It was actually the government that persecuted them because they
- 13:46were stirring up descent. And you know they show the Bible in chains.
- 13:50Well, you know, actually a Bible used to be handwritten by back then,
- 13:56and even the early Gutenberg Bibles and such. Gutenberg, of course was
- 13:58a Catholic who invented the printing press to print bibles so people would have them.
- 14:03But they were so expensive. I mean in today's terms a Bible would
- 14:07be worth fifty thousand dollars. There would be one maybe in an entire community
- 14:11if you were lucky. And yes, it was chained in the church,
- 14:16so no one stole it. Just like when you were a kid you went
- 14:18into a phone booth, remember the phone book, It had a big wire,
- 14:24you know, metal cord attaching it, essentially chaining it, so no
- 14:28one stole it. Chaining the Bible was not to keep it from the people.
- 14:33It was to make sure all the people actually had access to it and
- 14:35somebody didn't steal it for its monetary value. I mean, it's such just
- 14:41absolute bs absolute, and you know it's calumny. It's lies that somebody knew
- 14:50were faults. Now people repeat them out of ignorance. I said, I
- 14:56guess, let's say ignorant innocence. But a cursory investigation into history would show
- 15:03everybody in valid East North Carolina that for generations they and their families have been
- 15:07spreading scurrilous lies against the Church founded by Christ and the most holy people on
- 15:15earth, his saints, you know, his religious his priests, his monks,
- 15:22his nuns. Yeah, to do that is I understand. It scares
- 15:28people. They don't want to find out their grandparents were lunatics. You know,
- 15:33I've had to admit I had an ancestor on the Mayflower second Vergin voyage.
- 15:39He actually came over, tried to come over on the speedwell, it
- 15:43started a sink. They had to turn around. He came over on the
- 15:45second voyage of the Mayflower. Yeah, that would be a nutball religious cultist.
- 15:50Sorry, all the pilgrims were nutball religious cultists actually read what they believed
- 15:54in what they practiced. If anyone tried that in modern America, trust me,
- 16:00child Services would be over there taking their kids away and it would be
- 16:03a Branch Davidian type situation. I mean, Janet Reno would be running over
- 16:08them with tanks and setting them all on fire. I mean not that you
- 16:11know, I certainly do not side with Janet Reno in that case. I
- 16:17mean what they did at Waco and Ruby Ridge, I mean it was horrible.
- 16:22Clinton's a monster and Janet Reno absolutely a monster. Hillary's worse than all
- 16:26both of them but together. But I'm just saying, yeah, the Pilgrims
- 16:33were at Plymouth Rock were nutballs. There were religious cult They were not the
- 16:38founders of America. I mean both gosh. I mean, they were trying
- 16:45to get to Boston because it was a large British port. You know,
- 16:48the Dutch had been here for a good hundred years before then in New York.
- 16:52And for some reason, we're taught in school that the Pilgrims found in
- 16:55America. The Pilgrims didn't have Jack Squatt to do with America. I mean
- 16:59seriously, I mean, the Spanish had been here for a long time before,
- 17:04with Catholic colonies found in Georgetown and Charleston and Savannah and Saint Augustine,
- 17:11and I mean even actually right here in North Carolina, Morgan to North Carolina,
- 17:15they had a Spanish fort before the first British colony ever existed, and
- 17:18the first British colony was a Jamestown, and you know the Lost Colony and
- 17:25all that. I mean, these are my ancestors. So I can tell
- 17:26you with absolute fact. If you've been taught in school that the first Americans
- 17:32were the Pilgrims, you got sold to bill of Goods. It's absolute lies.
- 17:36And if you actually look into the Pilgrims, there were good people.
- 17:40I'm not saying they weren't, but they had sincere religious faith. They came
- 17:45over as communists, seriously like socialists, you know that failed. They almost
- 17:49starved to death. They adopted free market capitalism. They still put people in
- 17:55stocks and beat them just for having a fire in the fireplace on a Sunday.
- 18:00They forbade the celebration of Christmas in Easter. I mean, these were
- 18:06a nutball cult. We were just taught so many myths in America. It's
- 18:11really a shame. I mean that America was founded on religious freedom. No,
- 18:15it wasn't. It was illegal to be Catholic in every state but Maryland.
- 18:19These people didn't come here for religious freedom. They could have had plenty
- 18:23of religious freedom in England if they had just been Anglican as opposed to be
- 18:27a nutball cult, and that's what they were. I'm sorry, and I'm
- 18:32sorry to my you know, great great great great grandfather, fitz Randolph.
- 18:36He was very misled. I mean, they weren't far removed from like Mormons
- 18:41and such. I mean they were really out where the buses don't run well
- 18:45anyway. I mean, accusing people of being witches when they saw him praying
- 18:52the Rosary. That's what Cotton Mather did. I mean beating people and whipping
- 18:56them. Did you read the Scarlet Letter? And honestly, we look at
- 19:03these people as our models of what it means to be an American. Knew
- 19:07Puritan New England was about as awful a place to be for religious freedom as
- 19:11Iran as Iran is now. I mean, really, Afghanistan probably has more
- 19:18religious freedom than Puritan New England did. I'm just putting it that way,
- 19:22Okay, all right. Where was I? Oh my gosh, did I
- 19:26go off on a tangent? See told you? I rant a little today.
- 19:30Oh yeah. The persecutions of the Middle Ages formed no part of the
- 19:37work of the Church, which desired not the death but the conviction of the
- 19:40but the conversion of the center. It was civil powers which used to force
- 19:45and repress heretics because as a rule, they disturbed the public peace and morality.
- 19:49The Church is the way to salvation. It differs in this respect from
- 19:52the Synagogue. The latter merely pointed out the way to salvation in the distant
- 19:57future, while the Church claims itself to be the true way. The Catholic
- 20:02Church is distinct from heretical churches, which have corrupted Christ's doctrine and have rejected
- 20:07the means of grace, especially the Mass and penance. Their way is a
- 20:11roundabout way or the wrong way, quoting Saint Augustine, the further one goes
- 20:18out from the right path, the further he is from the goal of his
- 20:22journey point number two. Hence, every man is bound to become a member
- 20:26of the Catholic Church. I said it, yes, Father Spirago said it.
- 20:32Every man has a religious Christian duty to become Catholic. The more he
- 20:38learns about the faith, the stronger that he is compelled to follow that duty.
- 20:45Some will say that a man ought not change his religion. They might
- 20:48just as well argue that a man may keep an inheritance which his father obtained
- 20:52unjustly. Others say one faith is as good as another, and all lead
- 20:56equally well to heaven. To this is to profess indifferentism. It is certain
- 21:03that one religion only can be the true one I either one revealed by God,
- 21:08and reason alone would tell us that truth is what we should aim at.
- 21:12Is absurd to suppose that God is unconcerned whether man adore him, or
- 21:18whether man adore him or sticks and stones, or whether Christ be regarded as
- 21:22his son or as a blasphemer. Why should Christ, and after him the
- 21:26Apostles preach the Gospel amid so much persecution if it were of no moment,
- 21:33no importance, what the man believed. Why were the apostles so vehement in
- 21:37announcing those who perverted the teachings of Christ Galatians one eight, Second, John
- 21:44one, ten, etc. Why should God have converted Saul and send an
- 21:48angel to Cornelius The apostles gave the reason. They said, there is no
- 21:53other name under Heaven given to men, whereby we must be saved x four
- 22:00twelve. And Christ said, I am the Way, the Truth, and
- 22:02the Life. No man cometh to me, no man cometh to the Father,
- 22:07but by me John fourteen six. Hence it is that so many eminent
- 22:12people enter the Church, despite sacrifices entailed. Queen Christina, the only daughter
- 22:18of Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden, the arch enemy of the Catholics, studied the
- 22:23Catholic teaching and was persuaded of its truth and the laws. And was persuaded
- 22:29of its truth, and as the laws of the land forbade her to practice
- 22:33her faith, she resigned her crown and spent the rest of her days in
- 22:36Rome. So two. In the beginning of the century, Count Stolberg resigned
- 22:41his post on his conversion in England. During the last few decades, very
- 22:45many most distinguished men have entered the Church, especially Cardinals Newman and Manning.
- 22:51What great heroes they were. Even from Judaism, there have been remarkable conversions
- 22:56such as Ratisbond and Liebermann. And long after Father Spirago wrote his book The
- 23:04had Rabbi of Rome converted to Catholicism, which was a huge scandal among Judaism
- 23:11because not only had contrary to what we're taught in schools and by the media,
- 23:17the Catholic Church did everything it could to protect the Jews and the Holocaust.
- 23:21He recognized that, and he began came to believe, through the charity
- 23:25and love of Christians, that Christianity was the truth, and began to learn
- 23:30its doctrine, and he and his entire immediate family converted to Catholicism. That's
- 23:36something you're not going to see on PBS, is it or the History Channel
- 23:41Three. Whoever, through his own fault, remains outside the church will not
- 23:45be saved. A man who, knowing the Catholic Church to be the true
- 23:49one, leaves it, say, to make a good marriage, or to
- 23:52push on his business, or for some such unworthy motive, would not be
- 23:57saved of the man who, from a cowardly fear of the approach or the
- 24:03esteem disesteem I guess, lack of esteem, we'll go with that of others,
- 24:10does not enter the Church. The same is true of the man who,
- 24:12having solid doubts as to whether his church is the true one takes no
- 24:17pains to find the truth. Such as these love the darkness better than the
- 24:21light. He cannot have God for a father who has not the Church for
- 24:26a mother, says Saint Cyprian. He who has not Christ for a head,
- 24:32are the words of Saint Augustine, cannot be saved. And he who
- 24:34does not belong to the body of Christ, i e. To the Church
- 24:37of Christ, has not Christ for his head. He who breaks away from
- 24:41the Church separates himself from Christ. That's quote from the Lateran Council. If,
- 24:49however, a man, through no fault of his own, remains outside
- 24:53of the Church, he may be saved if he leads a god fearing life,
- 24:57For such a one is, to all intents and purposes, a member
- 25:00of the Catholic Church. The majority of men who have been brought up in
- 25:04heresy think that they belong to the true Church. Their error is not due
- 25:08to the hatred of God. A man who leads a good life and has
- 25:11the love of God in his heart really belongs to the Church, and such
- 25:15a one is saved not by his heresy, but by belonging to the Church.
- 25:21That would shock a lot of Baptists and Presbyterians. When Saint Peter said,
- 25:26in every nation, he that feareth God and worketh justices is acceptable to
- 25:30him. That's Acts ten thirty five. The Catholic Church, says Saint Gregory,
- 25:33the Great embraces all the just, from able to the last of the
- 25:37elect. At the end of the world, all who lived up to their
- 25:41lights were Christians. Though they might have been looked upon as godless, as
- 25:45was Socrates among the Greeks, and Abraham and Elias among the Jews, they
- 25:49do not belong to the body of Christ. That is, they are not
- 25:55externally in union with the Church, but they are of the soul of the
- 25:57Church. I either have the sentiments which the members of the Church should have.
- 26:03Thus, the Catholic Church has members both visible and invisible. Visible members
- 26:07are those who have been received in the church by baptism. The following are
- 26:11not members, the unbaptized, which include Heathens, Jews, and Muslims.
- 26:18He always used the old term Muhammed to me, I'm going to go with
- 26:22Muslims. Formal heretics such as Protestants. All Protestants are formally heretics by the
- 26:29way, and schismatics such as the Greeks and those who are excommunicated. The
- 26:34invisible members of the church are those who without any thought of their own or
- 26:38outside of the church, but are leading god fearing lives. The visible members
- 26:44of the church are called living or dead members, according as they are in
- 26:48the state of sanctifying grace or not. Well, what does that mean.
- 26:51It means you can be Catholic. You can be Joe Biden, call yourself
- 26:56Catholic, carry your rosary. But if you commit a moral sin such as
- 27:00supporting abortion and celebrating homosexuality and transgenderism, you're not Catholic. You're in state
- 27:08of mortal sin. You have excommunicated yourself. And it's a shame priests won't
- 27:15tell them that because they're afraid to offend the rich and powerful, and that
- 27:22in itself is a mortal sin. That's actually a greater sin than many others.
- 27:32We'll just go with that anyway. Our bishops really need to get their
- 27:37acts together, our Pope needs to get his acts together, and many of
- 27:41our priests need the whip cracked over their head. Let's just put it that
- 27:45way, and that's up to the hierarchy of the church, and we can
- 27:51only pray that it will happen because they're leading people astray. They're they're they're
- 27:56committing grave, rave sins. But you know, as a member of the
- 28:04church militant, I can say it, but as one who has no authority,
- 28:07I can't do a dang thing about it. So we'll finish it up
- 28:11here. It is an error to think that those who have fallen into grave
- 28:15sin are no longer members of the church. The church is like a field
- 28:18in which grow both wheat and cockle, that's Matthew what thirteen twenty four,
- 28:25or like a net which contains fish, both good and bad. It is
- 28:27not enough, though, to belong to the church, A man should also
- 28:30live up to it in his belief. Otherwise his membership will help only to
- 28:37his greater condemnation. Said much better than I did. All right, y'all
- 28:45remember the words of Saint Padre Pio. Pray, hope and don't worry,
- 28:48and I will talk to you next time.
