- 0:06Speaker 2: Joe Rogan podcast by Night, all Day.
- 0:12Speaker 3: Check what's happening to my man. I'm so happy, so
- 0:15Speaker 3: happy to see you.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Wow, Joe, thank you so much for pleasure. I feel like,
- 0:21Speaker 1: you know, you are the loud speaker of the planet man,
- 0:24Speaker 1: and I'm so honored to be here.
- 0:26Speaker 3: That's a very uncomfortable position to be in, I'll tell
- 0:28Speaker 3: you that.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I bet, I bet. But look, I mean, you've
- 0:33Speaker 1: talked to everybody in the planet, and I think I'm
- 0:36Speaker 1: honored to be your first arm wrestler.
- 0:38Speaker 3: Well, if I'm going to have an arm wrestler, it
- 0:40Speaker 3: has to be the goat.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Oh, highly debated, highly debated.
- 0:44Speaker 3: But uh, I'll take you here in the conversation.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm in the conversation. There's a couple of us.
- 0:48Speaker 1: I think John Bras inc. I know. How close do
- 0:52Speaker 1: you follow arm wrestler?
- 0:53Speaker 3: Very little? Yeah, I follow you. Well, I'm most fascinated
- 0:57Speaker 3: by the fact that you can't extend your arm.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:01Speaker 3: His arms don't straight now, no.
- 1:03Speaker 1: They don't. Unfortunately that didn't crazy, Yeah, it didn't work.
- 1:07Speaker 1: When I was trying to fight thor either it kind
- 1:09Speaker 1: of limited the extension.
- 1:13Speaker 3: But when did that start happening? So I was I.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Got into club arm wrestling. I'm wrestled with my when
- 1:21Speaker 1: I was a kid, but I got into club arm
- 1:24Speaker 1: wrestling wheund like eighteen. By the time I was twenty
- 1:28Speaker 1: or so, we have this champion called Crazy George. Okay,
- 1:33Speaker 1: he's like a very old, very decorated champion and he
- 1:37Speaker 1: famously at the time for me, he couldn't straighten his
- 1:40Speaker 1: elbows and I was like, oh man, I can't wait
- 1:44Speaker 1: till my elbows don't straight now, like a silly wish, right,
- 1:48Speaker 1: So it started early, like I think I was like
- 1:52Speaker 1: probably like in my late twenties, and it just the
- 1:56Speaker 1: range started to shrink.
- 1:58Speaker 3: And why is that from?
- 2:00Speaker 1: It's just pressure mostly, like just the constant pressure on
- 2:04Speaker 1: the elbow joint causes you know, osteophytes potentially like and
- 2:09Speaker 1: it doesn't happen to all the arm wrestlers.
- 2:11Speaker 3: How you got an MRI on it.
- 2:12Speaker 1: I've had three surgeries to straighten them out, to remove
- 2:17Speaker 1: bone and scar tissue.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Just chip bones and stuff hip bones.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Doctor Pollock, bless his soul at the Ottawa Hospital has
- 2:26Speaker 1: extended my career till till this age, you know, Yeah,
- 2:31Speaker 1: it can. That's probably one of the worst chronic conditions
- 2:35Speaker 1: the arm wrestlers get is you know, if the bone
- 2:38Speaker 1: girls gets bad enough, it can start to constrict your
- 2:41Speaker 1: nerves or blood flow, and that's when it becomes a problem.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Has that happened to you, Yeah, yeah.
- 2:47Speaker 1: So I was what I was probably it was like
- 2:50Speaker 1: twenty thirteen, So like thirteen years ago is when I
- 2:54Speaker 1: had my first surgery, and at that point, like trying
- 2:58Speaker 1: to move forward, trying to move forward, and as.
- 3:00Speaker 3: You can go, that's it.
- 3:02Speaker 1: That's it, buddy, that's it.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Wow. Yeah, the left is a little more than the right.
- 3:06Speaker 1: It looks like probably a little bit. Yeah yeah, And
- 3:09Speaker 1: I've had two surgeries on the right, one on the left.
- 3:12Speaker 1: But in my mind, you know, it's a small price
- 3:14Speaker 1: to pay, you know, like I'm I'm as all in
- 3:18Speaker 1: in arm wrestling as you can possibly be, and this
- 3:21Speaker 1: is our cost of admission for some of us, you know, And.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Does that happen to every arm wrestle.
- 3:27Speaker 1: No, no, No, there's lots of arm wrestlers. It's it's a
- 3:31Speaker 1: style thing, it's a it's a genetic predisposition. It's I
- 3:35Speaker 1: rolled the dice wrong one day and had a bad match.
- 3:38Speaker 1: You know, I think what happens is it's really it's
- 3:41Speaker 1: the pressure. It's the bones over time, if you're and
- 3:46Speaker 1: then it's if you're a dummy and you know, keep
- 3:49Speaker 1: on doing it when you should probably rest. That probably
- 3:52Speaker 1: doesn't help.
- 3:53Speaker 3: And I'm guilty, you know, so most of the greats
- 3:58Speaker 3: anyways on everything.
- 3:59Speaker 1: It doesn't affect me in the sport. I actually I
- 4:03Speaker 1: call it weaponized arthritis, okay, because there are ways you
- 4:09Speaker 1: can kind of make your loss of range work for
- 4:12Speaker 1: you at times. Really yeah, because there's like right, you know,
- 4:16Speaker 1: like if you're doing an arm bar, okay, like your
- 4:19Speaker 1: body resists with the ligaments and the tendons, so that
- 4:22Speaker 1: starts higher for me. And I think that there's a
- 4:25Speaker 1: muscular strength component that kicks in as well right at
- 4:28Speaker 1: the end of the range to protect you. So I
- 4:30Speaker 1: just have a higher you know arm bar.
- 4:34Speaker 3: You know, does it Did it help you in arm
- 4:36Speaker 3: bars as well? Oh? God no it doesn't.
- 4:39Speaker 1: A good jiu jitsu guy is still gonna he's still
- 4:41Speaker 1: gonna arm bar me. No.
- 4:42Speaker 3: It's also the bones would just snap, Yeah, it's just
- 4:44Speaker 3: gonna snap higher, Yeah, yeah, snap in bad places. Yeah.
- 4:48Speaker 3: Did you ever try hanging from like a chin up
- 4:50Speaker 3: bar to straighten it out?
- 4:52Speaker 1: I've tried a lot of things.
- 4:54Speaker 3: I saw a video with you in Juju Mufu. Yeah,
- 4:57Speaker 3: is that how you say his name?
- 4:58Speaker 1: Juji Juji Juji Mufu, John Call.
- 5:02Speaker 3: Yeah, he's great, he's great. He's such a character. But
- 5:06Speaker 3: they were rolling, they were trying to like do some
- 5:09Speaker 3: stuff with like these big metal bars to roll out
- 5:11Speaker 3: your muscles. H and you were in fucking agony.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:15Speaker 3: I was like that is crazy to watch, Like you
- 5:17Speaker 3: really can't straighten your arm, and when they were trying,
- 5:20Speaker 3: you were screaming.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it's terrible. Uh, I've kind of just accepted it.
- 5:26Speaker 3: Did you ever try to hang?
- 5:27Speaker 1: I've tried so many things, But I when I was young,
- 5:33Speaker 1: when I was twenty, I was wishing for the day
- 5:36Speaker 1: that I could be like crazy George. So it's it's interesting,
- 5:41Speaker 1: you know, like I'm not If I was like all
- 5:43Speaker 1: about straightening my arm, I could probably still do it
- 5:46Speaker 1: because the bone is actually removed now it's a sheath.
- 5:50Speaker 1: There's like a capsule that surrounds the joint. That is
- 5:54Speaker 1: probably the root cause of it.
- 5:57Speaker 3: What is the capsulemanut Of.
- 5:58Speaker 1: I believe it's was a fascia just connective structure. I
- 6:03Speaker 1: think it encapsulates the joint.
- 6:05Speaker 3: So everything is just sort of condensed to hold the
- 6:07Speaker 3: joint together.
- 6:08Speaker 1: I think, so wow.
- 6:10Speaker 3: Yeah, it's kind of a unique study. If you were
- 6:13Speaker 3: like a physiologist to your studying human anatomy, you would say, okay,
- 6:17Speaker 3: what is possible? Yeah, you know, like do you know
- 6:20Speaker 3: about David Goggins's knees.
- 6:23Speaker 1: I know David Goggins. I don't know about his knees.
- 6:26Speaker 3: His knees are so great. He's bone on bone with
- 6:29Speaker 3: both knees. And he went to the doctor and the
- 6:31Speaker 3: doctor said, I don't know how you can walk with
- 6:33Speaker 3: these knees. Forget about rum thousands of miles. So his
- 6:37Speaker 3: knees had the it's what is it called, Jamie, It's
- 6:41Speaker 3: like wolf something. It's like there's a condition when you're
- 6:44Speaker 3: bone on bone for so long where the bone actually
- 6:47Speaker 3: spreads out. And the doctor said, I'd heard about this
- 6:51Speaker 3: in theory, I've never seen it on actual human being.
- 6:54Speaker 3: Where his knee the bone had grown out so weird
- 6:58Speaker 3: that his knees were moving it like odd angles. So
- 7:01Speaker 3: they had a saw his tibia and move his knee down,
- 7:06Speaker 3: so he's still bone on bone, but now he has
- 7:09Speaker 3: a flat surface, and so they cut it and then
- 7:13Speaker 3: screwed it into place. And then he just rode a
- 7:15Speaker 3: stationary bike for like fucking five months like a maniac
- 7:19Speaker 3: and then started running again. Bone on bone, beautiful, love it.
- 7:23Speaker 3: It's crazy. See if you can find what the condition is.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Says it's called Wolf's law biological principle, stating that bones
- 7:33Speaker 2: adapt and growth thicker and dancers their physical stress.
- 7:35Speaker 3: Is that I think that's it. Yeah, And his grew
- 7:38Speaker 3: thicker and like kind of mushroomed out at the top
- 7:42Speaker 3: of the knee because there's nothing there, there's no and
- 7:45Speaker 3: it's just bang bang bang bang bang. Yeah, So it
- 7:48Speaker 3: just kept growing out. And if you see see do
- 7:51Speaker 3: we have the images of the surgery. I know, I
- 7:54Speaker 3: sent it to you a long ass time. I mean
- 7:56Speaker 3: it's showing a bunch of pictures from when he was
- 7:57Speaker 3: on here. So see that where he the fingerprints on
- 8:01Speaker 3: his shin. That's because he had so much a edema
- 8:03Speaker 3: on his leg that he could squeeze it and put
- 8:05Speaker 3: his nuts after the surgery. Awesome, Yeah, but look at
- 8:09Speaker 3: the actual Yeah, look at that the photo of what
- 8:11Speaker 3: the knee looks like. That's not him.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Where's that's that's like an image of what it looked like.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Okay, so they saw it and then they screw it
- 8:21Speaker 3: down in place. They saw it slightly, you know, like
- 8:23Speaker 3: a wedge off a piece of wood, and you lower it,
- 8:27Speaker 3: level it out, and then screw it in place.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure I have something similar. I've been bone
- 8:33Speaker 1: on bone for probably two decades.
- 8:36Speaker 3: Really, yeah, all the cards is gone nothing.
- 8:39Speaker 1: So when when I went and got my surgery, uh,
- 8:42Speaker 1: doctor told me I have no like, there's there's nothing
- 8:45Speaker 1: there but bone. He said, Devin, maybe we can extend.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Maybe we can give you another couple of years on
- 8:51Speaker 1: your on your career.
- 8:53Speaker 3: Maybe how long ago to say this?
- 8:55Speaker 1: That was like fifteen years ago, No kidding. I probably
- 9:01Speaker 1: pulled off my best show ever six weeks ago.
- 9:03Speaker 3: So really, how old are you? I'm fifty one.
- 9:06Speaker 1: It's amazing, and and I have another shot at the
- 9:09Speaker 1: world title. I'm still number one in the divisions, so
- 9:13Speaker 1: you know, I'm lucky. But I think it's all it's
- 9:17Speaker 1: the doctors will say something, but it's just not true.
- 9:20Speaker 1: You can you can do anything.
- 9:22Speaker 3: You know, Well, Goggins is a perfect example that and
- 9:24Speaker 3: I guess how are you. It's like the idea that
- 9:28Speaker 3: you can't do something is based on when most people quit.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Yeah, pain is an interesting thing to try and master.
- 9:36Speaker 1: You know, it's it's information and you have to be
- 9:40Speaker 1: able to live with it and work with it. But
- 9:42Speaker 1: it's it's it's good. It's good to have this pain
- 9:45Speaker 1: because it's kind of a guy and on where you
- 9:47Speaker 1: need to get better. You know, the tenons and the
- 9:51Speaker 1: tenonus structures of the elbow are super super taxed in
- 9:55Speaker 1: our wrestling, and the process of rehabilitation and development of
- 10:01Speaker 1: these structures under great duress and trauma is difficult and
- 10:06Speaker 1: it requires a lot of time and monotony, which a
- 10:09Speaker 1: lot of people aren't willing to put in.
- 10:11Speaker 3: I'm shocked at how much time grip training takes. Yeah,
- 10:15Speaker 3: it takes forever. I've been trying to jack those grip
- 10:21Speaker 3: strength things. The strongest I ever got to is one
- 10:23Speaker 3: sixty four, and I'm like, I want to get to
- 10:25Speaker 3: two hundred. I feel like in my lifetime I can
- 10:28Speaker 3: get to two hundred. I can't get past one sixty four.
- 10:30Speaker 3: And the thing is like I keep lifting weights with
- 10:33Speaker 3: my arms I keep and I've always tired, so like
- 10:35Speaker 3: every time I squeeze that thing, my hands are always sore.
- 10:39Speaker 3: So I'm like, shit, I got to take some time
- 10:41Speaker 3: off to see if I can get it stronger. And
- 10:43Speaker 3: so I'm doing all these risk curls and I've got
- 10:46Speaker 3: the forearm finisher from Golden Grip, and I've got these
- 10:49Speaker 3: big fat things that I use were for cables to
- 10:53Speaker 3: rotate risks, and my hands got bigger. I'm definitely stronger,
- 10:57Speaker 3: but it's like I don't know when to lay off
- 10:59Speaker 3: of it. When to how many days a week do
- 11:02Speaker 3: you do grip training? What's your guess? Every day? Of course,
- 11:06Speaker 3: every day every day? And is that the way to
- 11:09Speaker 3: do it? Is that the smart way to do it.
- 11:11Speaker 3: I know you talked to a lot of those rock
- 11:12Speaker 3: climber guys and they have the craziest grip strength.
- 11:17Speaker 1: One of the things that I'll just say right away
- 11:19Speaker 1: is a lot of people associate grip with arm wrestling,
- 11:22Speaker 1: and one hundred percent it's it's of massive importance, but
- 11:27Speaker 1: the real technical nuance of the sport is to try
- 11:30Speaker 1: and make the other person hold on to you right,
- 11:34Speaker 1: So it's not necessary grip is more like defense and
- 11:38Speaker 1: added offense. But the first step is to try and
- 11:41Speaker 1: tax the other person's gript.
- 11:42Speaker 3: But how do you do that?
- 11:45Speaker 1: I think that everything there's we are opening up like
- 11:48Speaker 1: technical arm wrestling. Okay, yeah, okay, so I think from
- 11:55Speaker 1: my position, the opening move in arm wrestling is a
- 11:58Speaker 1: concept called rising, like you know the movie over the Top. Okay,
- 12:03Speaker 1: this is the opening step of the sport, and what
- 12:07Speaker 1: it is is basically an attempt to get a better grip.
- 12:10Speaker 1: And if I can the concept of making the other
- 12:13Speaker 1: opponent hold onto you, that's the first step in technical supremacy. Okay,
- 12:18Speaker 1: if you can make the other person hold on you,
- 12:20Speaker 1: if you can touch their fingers, if you can get
- 12:23Speaker 1: their fingers activated and they're holding onto you, that's there.
- 12:29Speaker 1: They're they're less efficient. Yeah, So it's about attacking weakness
- 12:33Speaker 1: more than it is about going where you're strong.
- 12:35Speaker 3: So the most efficient when it's palm to palm and
- 12:37Speaker 3: everything's gripped nice and tight, and as soon as you
- 12:40Speaker 3: get like out.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Here, you want the pressure interaction to be unfair to
- 12:45Speaker 1: your advantage, right, Like if we were to arm wrestle,
- 12:49Speaker 1: you would want to put the pressure in my fingertips,
- 12:52Speaker 1: like with like almost like a hammer type motion, right,
- 12:54Speaker 1: so you're basically it's almost like a curl. It's it's
- 12:57Speaker 1: more complicated, but that's like the first way to start
- 13:00Speaker 1: to think about it. Like people think about armrests, going
- 13:03Speaker 1: to think about pinning each other, right, And this is
- 13:05Speaker 1: this is a very short sighted way to think about
- 13:08Speaker 1: the sport. You think about pulling the match close to you.
- 13:11Speaker 1: This concept of rising is this upwards spinning slipping motion
- 13:17Speaker 1: where the end result is you have a better grip.
- 13:20Speaker 1: And anything that they try and do, it's going to
- 13:23Speaker 1: go through the weakest system they have, which is their fingertips. Yeah,
- 13:28Speaker 1: so it is great to have an awesome grip. Really,
- 13:31Speaker 1: I so like proportionately in my workload if I was
- 13:36Speaker 1: doing twenty one sets twenty one or I think I
- 13:38Speaker 1: do twenty one working sets. Typically in my workouts, one
- 13:42Speaker 1: of them is dedicated purely to grip.
- 13:44Speaker 3: Every day, all day, all day, so you just doom
- 13:48Speaker 3: throughout the day.
- 13:50Speaker 1: I lead a very simple life at the moment.
- 13:53Speaker 3: So structure it like, how do you do it?
- 13:56Speaker 1: My structure right now? And I think that I'm probably
- 14:00Speaker 1: one of the most dedicated arm wrestlers in the world
- 14:03Speaker 1: in time in terms of like what I do with
- 14:06Speaker 1: my life and how much energy I give the sport.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Is I base it off of a week? Okay, So
- 14:13Speaker 1: I train with the club probably twice a week, and
- 14:17Speaker 1: this changes, but typically I'm going twice a week, and
- 14:19Speaker 1: these are my hardest days, and I go in there
- 14:21Speaker 1: and I just completely redline and max out in the sport. Okay,
- 14:26Speaker 1: all the exactly what I gotta do. I'm doing it
- 14:30Speaker 1: my highest highest capacity. I have my family where all
- 14:35Speaker 1: our wrestlers sell. My kid, I mean he's a pro too. Yeah,
- 14:40Speaker 1: he's competing this weekend.
- 14:41Speaker 3: That's correct.
- 14:42Speaker 1: It's crazy. So we like we have our own thing
- 14:45Speaker 1: where we'll hit a like we'll train together, but really
- 14:49Speaker 1: two hard sessions a week and then whatever I fit
- 14:52Speaker 1: in with my kids, and then the rest of the
- 14:56Speaker 1: days are like mindless, not just the monotony level is extreme.
- 15:02Speaker 1: My wife and I I'm retired, right, so I have
- 15:04Speaker 1: nothing but time, and I try to make I just
- 15:10Speaker 1: try and put everything into it. So like it's all day, man,
- 15:14Speaker 1: it's all day. I wake up and I'm training like
- 15:17Speaker 1: all day.
- 15:19Speaker 3: So these machines, like this is some of the shit
- 15:21Speaker 3: that you have here? Now? Is this a machine that's
- 15:24Speaker 3: specifically designed for arm wrestling. Did this exist or did
- 15:27Speaker 3: you did you help create this?
- 15:30Speaker 1: This actually machine is handed down for me from the
- 15:34Speaker 1: best female arm wrestler ever to exist, Leanne Dufrain Johnny Roberts.
- 15:40Speaker 1: So this is like a very standard arm wrestling equipment.
- 15:42Speaker 1: It's basically an arm wrestling table with a cable system.
- 15:46Speaker 1: And this is super old. Okay, this table you're looking
- 15:48Speaker 1: at here, that's like forty year old table and it's
- 15:52Speaker 1: still working. But yeah, you can buy a Pulley system
- 15:55Speaker 1: on a table and that's really like, this is basically
- 15:57Speaker 1: all I do. I work on off of a table,
- 16:00Speaker 1: different angles, different pressures that all just replicate the pressures
- 16:04Speaker 1: in arm wrestling.
- 16:04Speaker 3: So you have a fat grip looks like a PVC
- 16:07Speaker 3: tube and then you're using that to work your fingertips
- 16:12Speaker 3: and roll your wrists and just get to be really
- 16:15Speaker 3: strong at that position where you turning someone's wrist over.
- 16:18Speaker 1: We call that a multi spinner. And what's interesting about
- 16:22Speaker 1: it is you see it's a single point attachment, so
- 16:24Speaker 1: it's a little bit like Swiss ball for the wrist.
- 16:27Speaker 1: So it's it's a swissball, you know, like a Swiss
- 16:29Speaker 1: ball like people do like squats on them, like the
- 16:32Speaker 1: ball in the gym people do like like a half right,
- 16:39Speaker 1: swissball is like just the big round balls that yeah,
- 16:43Speaker 1: and you see.
- 16:43Speaker 3: People yoga ball whatever they call them.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Right, You ever jumped on a Swiss ball and done
- 16:48Speaker 1: squats or anything? No? Okay, well I have the half one. Yeah,
- 16:53Speaker 1: Swiss ball is way more unstable. So it's a similar
- 16:57Speaker 1: concept where it's it's very unstable through the wrist and
- 17:01Speaker 1: there's different wraps, but there's like a few base moves
- 17:05Speaker 1: in arm wrestling, probably top rolling, hooking and pressing.
- 17:09Speaker 3: And you just do shit like this all day.
- 17:11Speaker 1: All day. And this is in my taper, Okay, I
- 17:14Speaker 1: know it's crazy. That's the hardest part.
- 17:18Speaker 3: This is in your what room?
- 17:19Speaker 1: This is in my basement? Oh yeah? And what you
- 17:23Speaker 1: see here this was actually my final workout before I
- 17:27Speaker 1: pulled the Russian champion Vitalily lettin like six seven weeks ago.
- 17:32Speaker 1: So I've tapered normally all these movements. You see, I'm
- 17:35Speaker 1: doing like a hundred repetitions, so lots of blood flow.
- 17:40Speaker 3: And when you're doing one hundred repetitions, like what max, Like,
- 17:45Speaker 3: what do you wait?
- 17:46Speaker 1: Nothing?
- 17:47Speaker 3: Nothing like twenty pounds something like, yeah, really is that
- 17:50Speaker 3: the key?
- 17:53Speaker 1: I'm a bit I experiment a lot. Okay, I've done
- 17:56Speaker 1: so many different systems, but this is what I've come
- 17:58Speaker 1: up with that I think is best. So basically it
- 18:02Speaker 1: all revolves around these arm wrestling practice days where it's
- 18:06Speaker 1: one hundred percent this is what I want my body
- 18:08Speaker 1: to maximize about. But the off days, the Tuesday, the Wednesday,
- 18:14Speaker 1: it's all day just doing blood flow, just increasing the
- 18:19Speaker 1: amount of blood that flows through the fascia, flows through
- 18:22Speaker 1: these chains in arm wrestling motions, and the hundred is
- 18:27Speaker 1: all I'm trying to do is increase my circulation, especially
- 18:31Speaker 1: through my connective structures, and movement is so essential.
- 18:36Speaker 3: Why that over? Why is that more beneficial than like
- 18:39Speaker 3: hard strength training, like small reps, like low numbers of reps,
- 18:43Speaker 3: but high weight.
- 18:44Speaker 1: So super debatable, Okay, and I've done all of it.
- 18:51Speaker 1: What I've found is, in my opinion, you only have
- 18:54Speaker 1: so much energy. And this is something we got to
- 18:56Speaker 1: really weigh in because if I could just smash, you know,
- 18:59Speaker 1: heavy stuff all the time and take steps forward, I
- 19:01Speaker 1: do it. But I've found that you don't want to
- 19:06Speaker 1: detract from the thing that you're really really trying to do,
- 19:09Speaker 1: So anything that takes away from your ability to do that,
- 19:11Speaker 1: I think you should look at cutting. The best part
- 19:14Speaker 1: of my training is on the table, so anything that
- 19:16Speaker 1: kind of messes with that, I don't want to do it.
- 19:18Speaker 1: I've done a lot of systems where I'm lifting heavy,
- 19:21Speaker 1: but the thing is is they take energy, they take resources,
- 19:24Speaker 1: and what I really want to do is prepare my
- 19:26Speaker 1: body so I can do that specific task as good
- 19:29Speaker 1: as possible. The high rep training heals me.
- 19:35Speaker 3: It heals me.
- 19:35Speaker 1: A lot of people are like, oh, that's a lot
- 19:37Speaker 1: of work, and I'm like, it's really not. It's just
- 19:40Speaker 1: it's a form of healing almost yeah.
- 19:43Speaker 3: Interesting, Yeah, just the blood flow and the consistent movement
- 19:47Speaker 3: and high repetitions.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Yes, it's this is highly debated, okay, but I'm proving
- 19:56Speaker 1: it over and over over the years. I started to
- 19:59Speaker 1: do because oar wressing is a strength sport, no doubt
- 20:02Speaker 1: about it. So right away people think, oh, you know
- 20:07Speaker 1: heavy weight and you know high reps is dangerous because
- 20:10Speaker 1: you're going to become an endurance guy and it's it's
- 20:13Speaker 1: gonna make you weaker. But when you go low, your
- 20:18Speaker 1: your work volume is tremendous. Okay, if you're doing light
- 20:22Speaker 1: light weight all day long, I mean, the amount of
- 20:24Speaker 1: total weight you're lifting becomes astronomical. And I think that
- 20:29Speaker 1: that adaptation over long periods is wonderful. And you can't
- 20:34Speaker 1: get the blood flow through the connective structures without movement.
- 20:38Speaker 1: So this is this is really why I do it,
- 20:41Speaker 1: the healing aspects, the overall metabolic conditioning that you get. Yeah,
- 20:47Speaker 1: and and the taper is a big part of it
- 20:49Speaker 1: as well, you know. Uh, but yeah, I'm doing all
- 20:53Speaker 1: my heavy lifting specifically in the sport like I'm not.
- 20:57Speaker 1: I'm not doing my heavy lifting at this time in
- 21:00Speaker 1: my career.
- 21:01Speaker 3: Uh.
- 21:01Speaker 1: And also I'm fifty one and I'm plagued with injuries,
- 21:05Speaker 1: so I have to be very specific. I have to
- 21:07Speaker 1: be very precise. Yeah, this is the best formula I
- 21:10Speaker 1: come up with.
- 21:11Speaker 3: And when you were younger, did you approach it differently?
- 21:13Speaker 1: I have made so many mistakes.
- 21:15Speaker 3: What was the initial approach? Just lift as heavy as
- 21:17Speaker 3: you can.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Yeah, lift as heavy as I can.
- 21:21Speaker 3: Well, you're a giant dude already, right, so you already
- 21:23Speaker 3: naturally have like big bones, big genetics. So did you powerlift,
- 21:28Speaker 3: Like what did you would you do. Initially, I was
- 21:31Speaker 3: a judo guy.
- 21:32Speaker 1: I was a basketball guy. I was a military guy.
- 21:37Speaker 1: So I did a lot of different stuff. I was
- 21:40Speaker 1: very cross trained. Even I even did iron Man for
- 21:43Speaker 1: a bit.
- 21:44Speaker 3: Uh, but go be so hard for you? Yeah that weight, Yeah.
- 21:50Speaker 1: I so I would when I say iron Man, apologies
- 21:53Speaker 1: not traditional military iron Man. So what's the difference military
- 21:57Speaker 1: iron Man? You're doing it with a backpack, You're portaging
- 22:00Speaker 1: a canoe, you're paddling, you're running with a backpack. So
- 22:04Speaker 1: that race, you know, a winning time is you know,
- 22:07Speaker 1: probably anything under six hours, like five and a half
- 22:10Speaker 1: to six hours, So it's long duration, but it's slightly heavier.
- 22:13Speaker 1: So I'm still big even for that. Like most champions,
- 22:18Speaker 1: most guys who win the iron Man are you know,
- 22:21Speaker 1: average size or even smaller. But yeah, the side, I mean,
- 22:25Speaker 1: I'm a bigger person. But yeah, I did a lot
- 22:29Speaker 1: of different sports. But I've always loved arm wrestling. It's
- 22:32Speaker 1: always been the one I've come back to.
- 22:34Speaker 3: It's you know, what is it about it?
- 22:37Speaker 1: I think that there's a lot of things about it,
- 22:39Speaker 1: you know. For me personally, it was my first sport.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Like I started arm wrestling with my grandmother when I
- 22:44Speaker 1: was like four years old.
- 22:45Speaker 3: With your grandma.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, really, never underestimate the power of a grandmother.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Yeah yeah. Yeah. I was a rowdy little kid and
- 22:56Speaker 1: you know, in a in a with a German mother
- 22:58Speaker 1: who didn't let me do too much crazy stuff around
- 23:01Speaker 1: the house. And my grandmother used to come over and
- 23:05Speaker 1: it was a reward system. She'd tell me to do
- 23:07Speaker 1: chores and the result was I got to arm wrestle
- 23:11Speaker 1: with her. Yeah. I never beat her. I never beat her.
- 23:18Speaker 1: It's it's funny. Her name was Levon and the current
- 23:24Speaker 1: super heavyweight world champion is Levon, so I've never beat.
- 23:28Speaker 3: Either of them.
- 23:29Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a bit trippy. Uh yeah, So I started.
- 23:34Speaker 1: I started young. I I love arm wrestling because it's
- 23:39Speaker 1: it's a very safe fight. Okay, like I I I
- 23:43Speaker 1: love fighting. Everything in my life has been about fighting,
- 23:46Speaker 1: and arm wrestling is one of those fight sports that
- 23:50Speaker 1: has super low cost. Like we don't punch each other
- 23:52Speaker 1: in the head, I'll be able to walk nothing on
- 23:56Speaker 1: my spine, My almost don't straighten, you know, So it's
- 24:01Speaker 1: low cost. You can do it your whole life, like
- 24:03Speaker 1: we have. We've had world champions in the open division
- 24:07Speaker 1: who are almost seventy. What yeah, what, Yeah, that's cool. Right,
- 24:12Speaker 1: that's incredible. I love it. How's that possible? Yeah, it's
- 24:15Speaker 1: the hand is weird. Like this thing here is designed
- 24:19Speaker 1: for volume, and it just slowly builds. You know. The
- 24:24Speaker 1: hand is the structure has so much connective tissues in it,
- 24:29Speaker 1: so much tendon, and that's just it takes so long
- 24:32Speaker 1: to build. You know. Age is an advantage in a
- 24:36Speaker 1: lot of ways because you just have more time to
- 24:37Speaker 1: get further in arm wrestling. Yeah, I'm fifty one. I'm
- 24:41Speaker 1: telling you I probably competed at the highest level, and
- 24:44Speaker 1: I believe I can still go further. It's non typical,
- 24:49Speaker 1: you know, it's non typical. And the thing that I
- 24:52Speaker 1: love most about it, the very most, is is the
- 24:55Speaker 1: family and the bonds arm wrestling clubs or special places. Uh,
- 25:01Speaker 1: it's very blue collar, open doors man. There's there's not
- 25:05Speaker 1: a lot of money associated with the sport in terms
- 25:07Speaker 1: of membership. Fees are wrestling each other's garages and houses
- 25:11Speaker 1: and and it breeds a very tight family. Like I
- 25:15Speaker 1: consider the club that I train with like they're my family. Like,
- 25:19Speaker 1: so that's my favor I mean, that's what sport's all about.
- 25:23Speaker 1: You know. Yeah, yeah, and arm wrestling is very conducive
- 25:26Speaker 1: to that.
- 25:27Speaker 3: So when you say it's non typical that you could
- 25:29Speaker 3: compete at this level at this age, what what how
- 25:33Speaker 3: old are like most of the top guys.
- 25:36Speaker 1: I'd say that you hit your probably peak typically when
- 25:41Speaker 1: you are low thirties, so very standard. You know. That's
- 25:45Speaker 1: my buddy, pork Chop. Oh, there's Crazy George.
- 25:48Speaker 3: This is the guy.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Okay, So this guy dude who's down there, not the
- 25:53Speaker 1: guy in the green shirt. So these are both my
- 25:55Speaker 1: good buddy.
- 25:55Speaker 3: And this is the guy who can't straighten his arms up.
- 25:57Speaker 1: He can't know he's super locked up. Okay, but so
- 26:00Speaker 1: he's doing this move called a King's move or outside
- 26:04Speaker 1: top role, and you see pork CHOP's wrist is bent back.
- 26:08Speaker 1: I love Porky. I trained with Porky twice a week.
- 26:12Speaker 1: But yeah, crazy George, and Crazy George is like one
- 26:15Speaker 1: hundred and sixty pounds and Porky Yeah, and Porky's like
- 26:18Speaker 1: two thirty, completely tremendously jacked and strong. Yeah, and pork
- 26:23Speaker 1: Chop is like a professional arm wrestler pulling at East
- 26:26Speaker 1: versus West. Okay, that's our highest league. And Crazy George is.
- 26:31Speaker 3: Yeah, he's it's incredible.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Yeah, it's completely incredible.
- 26:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:36Speaker 1: As another guy from our club, Matt Smith against Crazy George,
- 26:40Speaker 1: I think Matt actually may have beaten him here. This
- 26:42Speaker 1: is actually the time period of Crazy George's downfall.
- 26:45Speaker 3: Okay, so how old is Crazy George in this film?
- 26:48Speaker 1: He'd probably late sixties here, Okay, wow, Yeah, he's an
- 26:52Speaker 1: absolute legend to me in sport. Like technically, so this guy,
- 26:56Speaker 1: he spent the first like twenty years in the sport
- 27:00Speaker 1: were two up to down, okay, go to tournament, double elimination.
- 27:03Speaker 1: He's and that's the Canadian champ. These guys are all
- 27:05Speaker 1: champions that you see him arm wrestling with, and he
- 27:10Speaker 1: invented basically he didn't invent it, but there were very
- 27:12Speaker 1: few people doing this style of arm wrestling. Okay, we
- 27:16Speaker 1: call it an outside top roll or a kings move,
- 27:19Speaker 1: and he really figured it out and very difficult, very
- 27:26Speaker 1: difficult to deal with.
- 27:27Speaker 3: And what is he doing. He's dropping down and lowering
- 27:31Speaker 3: his body weight. Yeah.
- 27:33Speaker 1: So there's many kind of main strengths in arm wrestling. Okay,
- 27:39Speaker 1: there's rising strength, there's pronational strength, there's cupping strength, and
- 27:46Speaker 1: this pronational to see this like, this is like my
- 27:49Speaker 1: favorite exempt.
- 27:50Speaker 3: Jesus Christ, look at that thing. That's so weird show
- 27:52Speaker 3: that show that who the fuck has that right bustle
- 27:57Speaker 3: so weird? Right? So that turn, yeah, that's right, that's
- 28:04Speaker 3: mine is non existent. I was gonna interrupt. I saw
- 28:06Speaker 3: it on the thumbnail and I was gonna say, what crazy.
- 28:12Speaker 1: It's one of my dreams to have bodybuilders when they're
- 28:16Speaker 1: you know, I have BB just to be doing pronator
- 28:18Speaker 1: poses one day. One day it's the you gotta first turn,
- 28:23Speaker 1: turn your thumb down and poppy wrist back. There it is.
- 28:29Speaker 3: There, you go, that's the one. That's the one little
- 28:34Speaker 3: bitch ass muscle. So that's a gigantic yeah yeah yeah.
- 28:39Speaker 1: So like different styles in arm wrestling, okay, like they
- 28:42Speaker 1: have different roots, okay, and the King's move. Top rolling
- 28:48Speaker 1: in general outside top rolling is super dependent on pronation.
- 28:53Speaker 1: So it's all twisting it twisting, it's it's it's weaponized. Right,
- 28:59Speaker 1: we get really strong and there's a relationship between all
- 29:04Speaker 1: the angles in the hand. The hand is very complex, right,
- 29:07Speaker 1: all sorts of stuff it can do, and the main
- 29:11Speaker 1: two drivers cupping we call it flexi and pronation, and
- 29:16Speaker 1: these two interact. So when one pronates, it attacks the
- 29:20Speaker 1: other one's cup. So there's a relationship between them. So
- 29:25Speaker 1: crazy George is like the master of pronational styles. King's
- 29:32Speaker 1: move is pronation styles. I over the course of my career,
- 29:36Speaker 1: change techniques, change techniques. Probably my best technique is an
- 29:40Speaker 1: open top role or a kings move. Now, Yeah, and
- 29:43Speaker 1: I learned a lot. It's like the guy that one
- 29:46Speaker 1: of my first coaches, guy called Troy Eaton. He he
- 29:51Speaker 1: could never be George. He couldn't be George. We tried,
- 29:55Speaker 1: we tried, We tried for years to figure him out. So,
- 29:58Speaker 1: and that was back when I was like twenty, right,
- 30:00Speaker 1: So I've been studying the staff for thirty years. And yeah,
- 30:06Speaker 1: it's a combination of locks and giveaways and balancing arm wrestling.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Things happen really quickly, very very quickly, but it's a
- 30:14Speaker 1: balancing act of all these different strengths.
- 30:17Speaker 3: So what is it about you that's able to keep
- 30:20Speaker 3: competing at a very high level into your fifties? I
- 30:24Speaker 3: think is it this approach where you're just doing all
- 30:26Speaker 3: these reps all day long? Do you think that's a
- 30:29Speaker 3: big part of it, huge, huge, huge part of it,
- 30:32Speaker 3: Because you're constantly forcing your muscles to work, You're constantly
- 30:35Speaker 3: getting blood flow, and you're not losing any strength. Yeah,
- 30:38Speaker 3: as you get older, it's.
- 30:39Speaker 1: A huge part of it. Yeah, my work volume probably
- 30:43Speaker 1: exceeds most people in the sport with that, so metabolically
- 30:49Speaker 1: and from a health perspective, it keeps my tenons and
- 30:52Speaker 1: ligaments really functional. And you know, I'm just a very
- 30:56Speaker 1: simple and obsessed person and just I arm rest at
- 31:00Speaker 1: every opportunity.
- 31:01Speaker 3: Don't You also have some very freaky genetics, didn't Ryan? Yeah?
- 31:05Speaker 3: What is his last names? This guy's the best, very
- 31:09Speaker 3: interesting guys, the smartest person I know, geneticist. And he
- 31:13Speaker 3: was explaining to me how unusual your genes are.
- 31:18Speaker 1: We all have unusual genes, Yeah, but you have really
- 31:21Speaker 1: unusual genes. Well, there's that topic is so big, you know,
- 31:27Speaker 1: the genetic piece. I think that what a massive piece
- 31:32Speaker 1: going forward for our species. You know, the mastery of genetics.
- 31:39Speaker 1: It's right at the top I think of our highest priorities.
- 31:43Speaker 3: You know, here was the thing that they were talking
- 31:45Speaker 3: about last night in the green room. See if you
- 31:47Speaker 3: could find this. They think they might have figured out
- 31:50Speaker 3: a way to end down syndrome. They think they might
- 31:54Speaker 3: have figured out a way with genetic engineering, with Crisper
- 31:57Speaker 3: or whatever they're using, whatever modalities they're using to end
- 32:00Speaker 3: down syndrome. Sure, which is wild.
- 32:03Speaker 1: I think that there's so many answers with genetics, you know,
- 32:07Speaker 1: from I personally believe that, and you know, this is
- 32:10Speaker 1: a big topic with freedom and everything like that, but
- 32:13Speaker 1: I really believe that when you're born, you should be swabbed,
- 32:17Speaker 1: and it should accompany your health, you know, card or whatever,
- 32:20Speaker 1: and just as a information. You know, there's so much well.
- 32:24Speaker 3: It probably will be in the future as these all
- 32:27Speaker 3: these techniques and all this new stuff comes out. Crisper
- 32:30Speaker 3: takes a bold leap towards silencing down syndrome's extra chromosome. Wow,
- 32:35Speaker 3: so scientists have taken important step towards a gene therapy
- 32:38Speaker 3: that could one day turn off the genetic material that
- 32:41Speaker 3: causes Down syndrome. Down syndrome is a genetic condition caused
- 32:44Speaker 3: by an extra chromosome twenty one and consequently hundreds of
- 32:48Speaker 3: triplicate genes that lead to developmental and neurological issues. According
- 32:53Speaker 3: to Washington based National Down Syndrome Society, one in every
- 32:57Speaker 3: six hundred and forty babies in the United States is
- 32:59Speaker 3: born with Down syndrome. That makes it the most common
- 33:01Speaker 3: chromosomal condition. So they're so, what is it doing here? Okay,
- 33:08Speaker 3: So Beth Israel, Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School
- 33:12Speaker 3: found a way to silence much of the extra chromosome's
- 33:15Speaker 3: activity in the cell at once. Details of the research
- 33:18Speaker 3: are published in a paper in the journal Proceedings of
- 33:21Speaker 3: the National Academy of Sciences. Wow, so what is weird
- 33:25Speaker 3: about your genes?
- 33:26Speaker 1: Though?
- 33:26Speaker 3: Ryan told me, but I don't remember.
- 33:27Speaker 1: He was.
- 33:28Speaker 3: He goes, you gotta talk to him.
- 33:30Speaker 1: Well, Ryan's actually got to talk to I mean, I'm
- 33:32Speaker 1: a high school educated guy and I've been down to
- 33:35Speaker 1: Austin several times to hang out with Ryan. I absorb
- 33:38Speaker 1: everything I can from this guy. But I think that
- 33:44Speaker 1: my genetics, I think I'm predisposed to.
- 33:48Speaker 3: Endurance, actually endurance.
- 33:50Speaker 1: I think so. I think if you take an overall
- 33:53Speaker 1: look at my genetics, I think I have a lot
- 33:55Speaker 1: of you know, favorable mutations that are you know, you
- 34:00Speaker 1: disposed me too, too good. But it's weird. I don't know, Man,
- 34:03Speaker 1: listen to the genetics side of things. I'll sound silly
- 34:07Speaker 1: if I try and talk too much about it. I'll
- 34:09Speaker 1: just tell you that there are there are favorable genetics
- 34:13Speaker 1: for sure. You know, there's favorable mutations, and it's amazing.
- 34:18Speaker 1: You know if you could capture all of them from
- 34:22Speaker 1: everybody and you know, put it together and you never
- 34:26Speaker 1: know what We've We've scanned Brian, that's the thing. So
- 34:32Speaker 1: this this this project that Ryan is doing, and I
- 34:34Speaker 1: like to help him out a little bit. Uh, we've
- 34:38Speaker 1: been we've been looking at elite performers and with the
- 34:43Speaker 1: with the goal to find favorable mutations. And yeah, we
- 34:47Speaker 1: scanned Brian.
- 34:51Speaker 3: That guy's he's like you know, David and Goliath, they're
- 34:56Speaker 3: real people out there, like yeah, yeah, Yeahrian. So his
- 34:59Speaker 3: genetics are one out of every five hundred million people,
- 35:03Speaker 3: isn't it something crazy along those lines.
- 35:05Speaker 1: Yeah, he's he's completely a He's he's right at the
- 35:11Speaker 1: peak of human performance right from a genetics standpoint.
- 35:14Speaker 3: Just freakish freaking density.
- 35:17Speaker 1: Yeah, everything everything, And it's not just his bone density,
- 35:20Speaker 1: the dude's mindset. Like there's many pieces of Brian's genetics
- 35:24Speaker 1: that that make him a champion. But yeah, he has
- 35:28Speaker 1: some stuff in him that that Ryan's never seen. Yeah, no, nobody, No,
- 35:33Speaker 1: he had and I probably shouldn't be speaking about other
- 35:36Speaker 1: people's medical stuff, but I love Brian and he consume
- 35:39Speaker 1: me if he wants. Uh, nobody has his growth hormone.
- 35:44Speaker 1: He has a different type of growth hormone. What do
- 35:46Speaker 1: you mean, I don't think it's the same. What I
- 35:49Speaker 1: don't think he has this? We're opening something so cool
- 35:52Speaker 1: because you talked about the Down syndrome and there's some
- 35:55Speaker 1: very interesting stuff with that. But uh, yeah, Brian, I
- 36:00Speaker 1: don't believe that Brian's growth hormone is the same as
- 36:03Speaker 1: yours and mine.
- 36:04Speaker 3: What does that mean?
- 36:05Speaker 1: It might be molecularly different, or it might have You're
- 36:10Speaker 1: gonna have to talk to.
- 36:10Speaker 3: Ryan, but it growth hormone is different, a different.
- 36:15Speaker 1: He has a mutation in his growth hormone. Well that
- 36:18Speaker 1: makes sense, Yeah it does.
- 36:19Speaker 3: I mean he's almost seven.
- 36:20Speaker 1: Found Yeah, and he and he doesn't stop. It doesn't stop.
- 36:26Speaker 1: But it's weird the whole like down syndrome thing. They
- 36:29Speaker 1: can do stop codes like some genes, like some mutations
- 36:32Speaker 1: that you get. From what I understand, there's like a
- 36:34Speaker 1: stop code on a gene. So whatever your gene is,
- 36:37Speaker 1: when the I guess m R lands on it and
- 36:40Speaker 1: starts to do its thing like there can be a
- 36:42Speaker 1: stop code or something that just stops that gene from expressing,
- 36:47Speaker 1: and I think that that's likely what they do with that,
- 36:50Speaker 1: they'd somehow insert a stop code. But I mean there's
- 36:54Speaker 1: people out there who have like world records, like for
- 36:57Speaker 1: things like deadlift that don't have fast twitch muscle according
- 37:02Speaker 1: to their genetics. So it's really weird.
- 37:05Speaker 3: What do you mean they don't have fast.
- 37:06Speaker 1: Like they have a stop code on their fast twitch.
- 37:09Speaker 3: Genetics just natural.
- 37:11Speaker 1: It doesn't make any sense at all.
- 37:12Speaker 3: They're just born weird, born super weird.
- 37:14Speaker 1: Yet they're capable of beating the world records on the deadlift.
- 37:18Speaker 3: So wouldn't you think that deadlift is a fast twitch thing? Yeah,
- 37:22Speaker 3: so I don't understand.
- 37:23Speaker 1: I don't either. It's an amazing field. Genetics is an
- 37:27Speaker 1: amazing field.
- 37:28Speaker 3: Is that a lack of understanding of what fast twitch do?
- 37:31Speaker 3: Or is it they can compensate with the other muscles
- 37:35Speaker 3: in some way.
- 37:36Speaker 1: I don't think it's other muscles because I think that
- 37:38Speaker 1: it would probably apply to all the musculature. So there's
- 37:42Speaker 1: something that we don't understand. There's something weird going on. Eddie.
- 37:47Speaker 1: You consume me, Eddie all I love you, I love you.
- 37:52Speaker 1: Eddie's got a stop code in his genes on fast
- 37:55Speaker 1: switch muscle makes no sense.
- 37:57Speaker 3: Well that doesn't make any sense, makes move so fast,
- 38:00Speaker 3: I know, and he hits so fuck that's crazy, it's crazy.
- 38:04Speaker 3: How is that possible? I've seen that guy hit mits
- 38:06Speaker 3: and you're like, I know.
- 38:08Speaker 2: What the hercules not that nothing else.
- 38:12Speaker 3: Oh, that's miles statin. That's milestatin inhibitors. So regulars the
- 38:16Speaker 3: production of milestat in the protein that stops muscles from
- 38:18Speaker 3: growing too large. So with milestat inhibitors, they've done that
- 38:22Speaker 3: with I'm sure you've seen those whippets that have it.
- 38:26Speaker 3: So whippets are a weird dog. It's a very skinny,
- 38:29Speaker 3: fast dog. And some whippets are born with this genetic
- 38:33Speaker 3: mutation that's a milestat and inhibitor, and they look like
- 38:36Speaker 3: the Hulk. It's the crazy show. Show an image of
- 38:39Speaker 3: that police It is the craziest.
- 38:41Speaker 2: That doesn't look like a real dog, right, That doesn't
- 38:44Speaker 2: look be a real dog. That's a crazy bodybuilder dog.
- 38:47Speaker 2: Because if you see a regular whippet, show me a
- 38:50Speaker 2: regular whippet, now, please, Yeah, regular whippets.
- 38:54Speaker 3: That's a yeah. Look good at regular whippit like a
- 38:56Speaker 3: real fast, almost like a greyhound looking dog. And then
- 39:00Speaker 3: you see the ones with the myostatin inhibitor gene, and
- 39:02Speaker 3: you're like, what the hell is going on? They look
- 39:06Speaker 3: like like the most freakish bodybuilder of all time, but
- 39:09Speaker 3: in a dog form. And some humans have.
- 39:12Speaker 1: That Belgian blues also the Belgian Yes, yeah, and they
- 39:16Speaker 1: have it too. So they offer already genetic therapy that
- 39:22Speaker 1: gives you polostatin. So there's a balance between pholostatin and
- 39:27Speaker 1: myostatin from what I understand, like, the key that turns
- 39:31Speaker 1: on the cell for growth is polostatin, and myostatin tells
- 39:39Speaker 1: the cell to stop growing. You're big enough, important, very important,
- 39:44Speaker 1: and so if you don't have myostatin, all that that
- 39:47Speaker 1: turnkey gets is fulostatin. So the only thing signal that
- 39:52Speaker 1: you're ever getting with a myostatin deficiency is full of statin.
- 39:55Speaker 1: And so yeah, so they offer a genetic therapy that
- 39:59Speaker 1: increases your They offer it to who, hmm, anybody, anybody
- 40:06Speaker 1: ready to get anybody with enough money. Yeah, yeah, there's
- 40:11Speaker 1: there's a bunch of genetic therapies that they've already created.
- 40:13Speaker 1: Full of statin is.
- 40:14Speaker 3: One of them, and so that would be for powerlifters
- 40:17Speaker 3: or football players or someone who just wanted to get
- 40:19Speaker 3: fucking huge.
- 40:20Speaker 1: I think initially it was created for longevity, because as
- 40:24Speaker 1: you age, your full of statin drops, and that's why
- 40:28Speaker 1: people get smaller. They shrink as they get older, and
- 40:31Speaker 1: full of statin just helps.
- 40:33Speaker 3: You maintain muscle mass.
- 40:35Speaker 1: Yes, so it's it's I think it's mostly promoted as
- 40:39Speaker 1: an anti aging remedy, but absolutely like you want to
- 40:42Speaker 1: get your performance up, yeah, increasing.
- 40:45Speaker 3: They're doing so many wild things. Now they've got this
- 40:48Speaker 3: new therapy now for people with disc degeneration. I'm sure
- 40:51Speaker 3: you have it. I have it, a lot of people
- 40:53Speaker 3: have it, especially anybody who does jiu jitsu has it.
- 40:56Speaker 3: Your your discs just get worn out from getting cranked
- 40:59Speaker 3: on and like heavy lifters always have it lower back issues.
- 41:04Speaker 3: The disc is the soft cushion in between the spinal columns,
- 41:08Speaker 3: and those big bones push down that disc and over
- 41:12Speaker 3: time and all that compression, it squashes. But now they've
- 41:15Speaker 3: got stuff that they can inject into the disc that
- 41:18Speaker 3: inflates the discs. Yeah, and so all these people that
- 41:21Speaker 3: have been getting artificial discs and fusions and all the
- 41:25Speaker 3: problems that come with that. Because there's massive problems, they're
- 41:28Speaker 3: going to be able to eliminate that, which is amazing,
- 41:31Speaker 3: super cool, Oh so super cool. And I tell everybody,
- 41:34Speaker 3: if you could avoid back surgery, please avoid back surgery.
- 41:37Speaker 3: Don't fucking do it. There's a lot of different ways.
- 41:39Speaker 3: Like I always tell everybody, and I'll tell everybody again
- 41:42Speaker 3: Louis Simmons. His invention, that that invention, the reverse hyper Yeah,
- 41:48Speaker 3: fucking incredible, one of the greatest invention ever for people
- 41:51Speaker 3: with lower back problems. I have one here in the studio,
- 41:54Speaker 3: I have one at my house. I fucking swear by
- 41:57Speaker 3: that machine. It's so good. It decompress as a spine
- 42:00Speaker 3: on the dcel and on the uplift when you're lifting
- 42:04Speaker 3: up the weights. It strengthens the muscles out. It's like
- 42:06Speaker 3: a perfect exercise for lower back issues.
- 42:09Speaker 1: Yeah, that's wild. When we look at the future in
- 42:14Speaker 1: terms of performance and how far the age is being pushed,
- 42:19Speaker 1: like we see crazy, George, But I think I'm optimistic
- 42:23Speaker 1: that all the ages are just going to be pushed
- 42:26Speaker 1: and pushed until you're probably maybe not going to be
- 42:29Speaker 1: a champion until you're sixty.
- 42:30Speaker 3: That's crazy, right, that's crazy. Well that's for arm wrestling. Well,
- 42:34Speaker 3: I wonder what's gonna happen with Well, the thing was
- 42:36Speaker 3: with regular sports. The stuff that's pushing this stuff is
- 42:40Speaker 3: performance enhancing drugs, you know, peptides, stem cells, not really
- 42:45Speaker 3: that's something really performance dancing drunk, but for injuries. But testosterone,
- 42:49Speaker 3: all these different steroids, all these different things. The thing
- 42:53Speaker 3: about like combat sports in particular is that you can't
- 42:57Speaker 3: use those things. They're not allowed. But when you can
- 43:01Speaker 3: use them, you see these older athletes that have the
- 43:03Speaker 3: mind of an older athlete, but the body that works
- 43:05Speaker 3: like a young guy.
- 43:06Speaker 1: Right.
- 43:07Speaker 3: My favorite example that is Vitor bellfour when he was
- 43:09Speaker 3: in his.
- 43:09Speaker 1: Prime trt belfour.
- 43:12Speaker 3: Yeah, trt V Tour was the scariest fucking guy ever. Yeah,
- 43:16Speaker 3: because he was jacked up with testosterone. But he was
- 43:19Speaker 3: also thirty seven years old, a lifetime of combat sport experience,
- 43:22Speaker 3: a lifetime of intelligence, but hadn't lost any speed, hadn't
- 43:25Speaker 3: lost any strength. In fact, had like superhuman speed and
- 43:28Speaker 3: strength because he was juicy, super juicy.
- 43:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 43:34Speaker 3: But it makes you think, like, man, what would the
- 43:37Speaker 3: sport look like if that was open to everybody?
- 43:40Speaker 1: Right? Yeah, interesting, it is.
- 43:43Speaker 3: Interesting because there's a lot of guys that want to
- 43:46Speaker 3: keep competing, but their body just doesn't respond the way
- 43:49Speaker 3: it used to do to training because they're thirty seven
- 43:51Speaker 3: or thirty eight or thirty nine or But if you
- 43:54Speaker 3: could get them on the sauce.
- 43:56Speaker 1: Yeah right, where's the limit?
- 43:58Speaker 3: Yeah right? And why not them?
- 44:01Speaker 1: Absolutely? Why not? You know, I'm a big believer in
- 44:05Speaker 1: tested sport, you know. I think that that's wonderful, and
- 44:08Speaker 1: I think that that'll never go away, and I think
- 44:11Speaker 1: it's it's important. But I'm also a believer in open
- 44:14Speaker 1: up the gates and let everybody play.
- 44:16Speaker 3: Well, That's why I really love this whole idea of
- 44:18Speaker 3: doing the enhanced games. It didn't really pan out the
- 44:21Speaker 3: way everybody hoped. Nobody really won any records other than
- 44:24Speaker 3: the one guy in the swimming, but he wore a
- 44:26Speaker 3: prohibited suit that lets you swim quicker. Apparently I don't
- 44:29Speaker 3: understand swimming. Yeah, but I was hoping, like you're gonna
- 44:33Speaker 3: see some freakish, superhuman performances. But I feel like if
- 44:37Speaker 3: that's gonna happen, that's gonna take years. I don't think
- 44:40Speaker 3: you would get the kind of gains that these people
- 44:42Speaker 3: are hoping to get to achieve like world records, super
- 44:45Speaker 3: freak human performance, unless you're doing that stuff for a
- 44:49Speaker 3: long like you know as well as anybody, that training
- 44:52Speaker 3: takes forever. It takes to build strength, to build speed,
- 44:55Speaker 3: to build endurance, it takes a long ass time. I
- 44:58Speaker 3: think you're gonna get strength in three months, like you
- 45:01Speaker 3: get a little stronger, for sure, but you're not gonna
- 45:03Speaker 3: get freakish strength for fucking years.
- 45:07Speaker 1: It takes years, years, decades.
- 45:10Speaker 3: Like Juji mufu, Like, how long has that guy been
- 45:12Speaker 3: lifting weights? That guy's a fucking free Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 45:15Speaker 1: He can't build this stuff overnight.
- 45:16Speaker 3: And I bet he would melt a piss cup. Listen,
- 45:20Speaker 3: I think not a chance.
- 45:23Speaker 1: Look at so many look at myself included, you know
- 45:26Speaker 1: I I care about performance. This is this is what
- 45:30Speaker 1: what I care about. And so many people fall into
- 45:32Speaker 1: the same boat.
- 45:33Speaker 3: Look at that guy chance, Hell, that dude's natural.
- 45:35Speaker 4: You know, I'll tell you Juji is probably amazing though,
- 45:39Speaker 4: that he can do that, that kind of flexibility with
- 45:41Speaker 4: that kind of mass is Look at that while overhead
- 45:44Speaker 4: pressing a full side squad of side split.
- 45:48Speaker 3: That's nuts on chairs. Jean Claude Van Damn style.
- 45:52Speaker 1: Juji started out tricking.
- 45:54Speaker 3: Okay, what I mean like it's a phot that sounds
- 45:57Speaker 3: like aha, you know what I'm saying.
- 45:59Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, so so he actually started off sounds like
- 46:02Speaker 1: he's picking up guys. Yeah.
- 46:04Speaker 3: No, No, Juji is super cool.
- 46:06Speaker 1: It's like flipping.
- 46:08Speaker 3: He was on America's Got Talent.
- 46:09Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like a form of like acrobatics or gymnastics.
- 46:15Speaker 3: Right. Yeah, well I've seen him do acrobatic stuff and
- 46:18Speaker 3: it's really nuts, right, Like his physical ability, like it
- 46:23Speaker 3: defies what you expect from a guy with that kind
- 46:25Speaker 3: of mass, right.
- 46:26Speaker 1: Yeah, so he's a combined like almost gymnast and bodybuilder,
- 46:32Speaker 1: and he's probably better now than ever. And he's I
- 46:36Speaker 1: mean I think Juji's in his forties. Wow. Yeah, and
- 46:39Speaker 1: uh yeah, he's massive and healthy and you know, absolute
- 46:43Speaker 1: kicking ass. Probably the most positive human being that I've met.
- 46:48Speaker 3: He seems super positive in his YouTube videos. Yeah, and
- 46:51Speaker 3: we have snorted his fucking smelly.
- 46:53Speaker 1: Shots like it's strong.
- 46:54Speaker 3: He's got the best stuff he does. We've snorted his
- 46:56Speaker 3: stuff about one hundred times on this show.
- 46:59Speaker 1: Yeah, actually look at them.
- 47:01Speaker 3: Yeah, that's crazy that a guy with that kind of
- 47:04Speaker 3: mask can move like that.
- 47:06Speaker 1: Juji is actually the inspiration for this modern uh, this
- 47:12Speaker 1: this latest way that I'm training. It was actually really yeah. Yeah,
- 47:15Speaker 1: Juji came up to my place, uh probably about a
- 47:18Speaker 1: year and a half ago and we were just redlining
- 47:22Speaker 1: in our two handwork okay, and it was so good.
- 47:26Speaker 1: Yeah so okay, So I would be considered like the
- 47:29Speaker 1: senior guy in my club. Okay. So, and we have
- 47:32Speaker 1: this kind of rule in the in the club just
- 47:35Speaker 1: to make things work properly. Senior holds, junior works okay.
- 47:40Speaker 1: So so the senior is kind of staying with you,
- 47:43Speaker 1: floating with you, and the junior is able to control
- 47:47Speaker 1: their intensity. So the guy who would normally win the
- 47:51Speaker 1: match doesn't.
- 47:51Speaker 3: Win, okay, right, like defense workings.
- 47:56Speaker 1: Exactly, okay, but just to help out, the guy typically
- 48:02Speaker 1: will do two arm work okay, to kind of flip
- 48:05Speaker 1: the script for him, so somebody can hold like me
- 48:09Speaker 1: with two arms and kind of let me get the redline.
- 48:11Speaker 3: M Yeah.
- 48:13Speaker 1: So Juji and I were doing that like a year
- 48:15Speaker 1: and a half ago, and it was so good and
- 48:17Speaker 1: it was so much fun. I was like, what am
- 48:19Speaker 1: I doing, you know, having anything kind of cut into this,
- 48:25Speaker 1: And that's when I stopped doing heavy lifting. It was
- 48:28Speaker 1: it was as a result of training with Juji.
- 48:30Speaker 3: So this two arm work of just holding and just
- 48:33Speaker 3: work on that you feel is more important than all
- 48:35Speaker 3: the lifting and all the other stuff because it's sports
- 48:38Speaker 3: specific exactly. And does he armorsle?
- 48:41Speaker 1: He does a little bit. Juji does everything.
- 48:43Speaker 3: But why did you working with him make you train differently?
- 48:48Speaker 1: Juju's special guy. I think that just you don't have
- 48:53Speaker 1: to be the best in your field if you have
- 48:54Speaker 1: a certain energy or certain thing with you. Juji is
- 48:58Speaker 1: a wonderful creator, native hard working guy, and when you
- 49:02Speaker 1: get a chance to train with him, it doesn't matter
- 49:05Speaker 1: that his skill level. It's just his level of energy
- 49:07Speaker 1: is so good that when we work together it helps me.
- 49:12Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know how it happened, but
- 49:14Speaker 1: he unlocked this understanding of the priority of that training
- 49:19Speaker 1: for me. I've always done it, but never.
- 49:21Speaker 3: How did he unlock it? I'm not getting it.
- 49:24Speaker 1: I think that our training session I okay, So what
- 49:27Speaker 1: happened was Giugi came over and I normally on days
- 49:32Speaker 1: that I do table work, I do not hit the gym, okay,
- 49:38Speaker 1: because I don't want anything to kind of impact my
- 49:40Speaker 1: my tablework, and because I only had a day with Juji,
- 49:45Speaker 1: I wanted to show him how I was training, and
- 49:47Speaker 1: at the time, I was training very heavy. I was
- 49:49Speaker 1: training very heavy. So we did this circuit. I showed
- 49:52Speaker 1: him all my latest exercises that I was prioritizing, and
- 49:55Speaker 1: then we went to the club that night and we
- 49:57Speaker 1: had this awesome two arm work. But I felt as though,
- 50:00Speaker 1: you know, the singles and everything that I've done earlier
- 50:02Speaker 1: in the day had a slight effect, and I was like,
- 50:04Speaker 1: I can't ever let that happen again. I need to
- 50:06Speaker 1: put make sure I put all my energy into this
- 50:08Speaker 1: table training. And it's funny, you know, being fifty one
- 50:12Speaker 1: and having over thirty years competitively in the sport, I
- 50:16Speaker 1: still feel like I learn, you know, I still feel
- 50:18Speaker 1: like I change things from event to event.
- 50:21Speaker 3: Mm. Yeah, well that's a sign you're doing something fun.
- 50:24Speaker 1: Yeah, right, that's the key.
- 50:25Speaker 3: Continue to get better at it and continue to grow
- 50:28Speaker 3: at it. Key life. So just the one training session
- 50:31Speaker 3: with him changed your perspective on that because you just
- 50:34Speaker 3: weren't performing as well.
- 50:36Speaker 1: That was a tipping point. That was a tipping point
- 50:38Speaker 1: for me. So I generally have a protocol like a
- 50:43Speaker 1: training kind of balance, a recipe that I'm going to
- 50:46Speaker 1: follow pretty much from event to event.
- 50:49Speaker 3: And this is all made by you, is.
- 50:51Speaker 1: Made by me, and I watch everything.
- 50:54Speaker 3: You know.
- 50:55Speaker 1: I love arm wrestling, but I'm looking at sports. I'm
- 50:57Speaker 1: always trying to get better. Oh yeah, it's my protocol
- 51:01Speaker 1: that I come up with, and then I'll tweak it
- 51:04Speaker 1: based off of my results. Okay, so if I'm doing good,
- 51:08Speaker 1: not much changes. If if I don't do as good
- 51:11Speaker 1: as I think I should do, or there's like something,
- 51:13Speaker 1: I'll tweak it from event to event. And yeah, and
- 51:16Speaker 1: that night was the night that I decided I need
- 51:21Speaker 1: to get rid of heavyweights because this is so good.
- 51:23Speaker 1: This training is so good when done properly. And that's
- 51:26Speaker 1: the key. When done properly, like two arm work can suck,
- 51:30Speaker 1: Like if you do two arm work wrong, it can
- 51:32Speaker 1: hurt you, it can set you back. But when done properly,
- 51:36Speaker 1: it's the best training that there can be.
- 51:38Speaker 3: Yeah, specifically super specific, and do you do stuff that's
- 51:42Speaker 3: not specific for arm wrestling, just for overall body strength,
- 51:45Speaker 3: Like do you feel like there's a balance to be achieved.
- 51:48Speaker 1: This is the greatest criticism that I always receive as
- 51:54Speaker 1: an athlete. Is because I.
- 51:56Speaker 3: Don't really just arm wrestling stuff.
- 51:58Speaker 1: I go for walks.
- 52:00Speaker 3: That's it terrible really, no lunges.
- 52:03Speaker 1: No, I'm trying a little bit to work it back
- 52:07Speaker 1: in in some minimal way. But it's it's interesting, you know,
- 52:13Speaker 1: cross training versus specialization. I have a long background in
- 52:18Speaker 1: very broad training. Okay, like I once upon a time
- 52:21Speaker 1: was a fit human being and many aspects. But I
- 52:25Speaker 1: really care about being a chant, you know. And I
- 52:29Speaker 1: could probably be a healthier guy and be able to
- 52:33Speaker 1: run and squat and deadlift, or I can be a
- 52:37Speaker 1: little bit of a cripple and be pulling for world
- 52:40Speaker 1: title shots. Is the way I kind of look at it,
- 52:41Speaker 1: and I chose that, wow, I should do more squats.
- 52:46Speaker 3: Well, my only thought would be that if you conditioned
- 52:49Speaker 3: and strengthened your overall body, it would just help your
- 52:52Speaker 3: overall strength. Yeah, I mean that is the thought about
- 52:55Speaker 3: deadlifting and squatting is that it helps everything. Yeah, because
- 52:59Speaker 3: your whole body just becomes stronger, and it would just
- 53:02Speaker 3: natur naturally like your base everything, your core, everything would
- 53:07Speaker 3: just be much more. Your foundation would be stronger. I
- 53:13Speaker 3: hear you, but I don't know. I don't obviously, I'm.
- 53:16Speaker 1: I don't know either. Okay, everything, I'm playing with everything.
- 53:21Speaker 1: This is constantly what pretty much every reasonable person tells me.
- 53:26Speaker 1: And I just am like, I get to a point
- 53:27Speaker 1: where I do my armressing work and I'm like, okay,
- 53:29Speaker 1: here I am if I want to beat Levon? What
- 53:34Speaker 1: do I do from here? And I just am like
- 53:36Speaker 1: more risk girls, you know? Uh, look at mies he do.
- 53:41Speaker 1: Uh he's a bit more balance than me. He he.
- 53:44Speaker 1: Levn lifts super heavyweights like stupid.
- 53:47Speaker 3: What does this dude looks like? What is his last name?
- 53:52Speaker 3: Sagon is Philly.
- 53:53Speaker 1: This is the pinnacle of our sport. Okay, this is
- 53:56Speaker 1: the guy.
- 53:57Speaker 3: How big is this dude?
- 53:59Speaker 1: He gets about four twenty? Yeah, oh my god, I
- 54:03Speaker 1: love this guy.
- 54:04Speaker 3: Look the size of his motherfucker.
- 54:06Speaker 1: This is Yeah, that can't be real.
- 54:09Speaker 3: A is that picture that right there? That's real? Oh my,
- 54:14Speaker 3: this is red. I don't know, Jamie, that might be real.
- 54:17Speaker 3: He might just be pumped.
- 54:18Speaker 1: Levon is the pinnacle. Okay, we scanned him too and
- 54:23Speaker 1: surprised he's a weirdo.
- 54:25Speaker 3: Also yeah duh, yeah, yeah, we get the size of
- 54:29Speaker 3: that motherfucker.
- 54:30Speaker 1: He's in Little Rock in two days in Little Rock, Arkansas. Yeah.
- 54:33Speaker 3: Where does he live right now?
- 54:34Speaker 1: Georgia.
- 54:35Speaker 3: Georgia the country.
- 54:36Speaker 1: There's so many weirdos that come from Georgia. Really yeah, proportionately,
- 54:41Speaker 1: their strength is is not normal. Levon is Uh he hasn't.
- 54:46Speaker 1: Nobody has beat this guy since twenty seventeen. He has
- 54:50Speaker 1: absolutely flattened the field.
- 54:52Speaker 3: Okay, Like he's so hairy too. Oh, he looks like
- 54:56Speaker 3: a primitive man. He looks like a science project. Look
- 54:59Speaker 3: at this, the fucking size of that guy.
- 55:04Speaker 1: Smart guy, cool, very cool guy. I absolutely love Levon.
- 55:10Speaker 1: He has beaten the piss out of me at every opportunity.
- 55:14Speaker 3: He's so big, yeah he is.
- 55:15Speaker 1: He is so big and uh and he's so good.
- 55:19Speaker 1: He's like he grew up in the trenches arm wrestling. Okay,
- 55:22Speaker 1: he didn't. He's not one of these guys who came
- 55:24Speaker 1: in Uh you know. He he made his way through
- 55:28Speaker 1: the world championships. Yeah, he hasn't lost in ten years.
- 55:31Speaker 3: And so he does he do different stuff than you do.
- 55:34Speaker 1: He does a lot of the guys have different formulas. Okay,
- 55:39Speaker 1: Levon does a lot of pull ups, really heavy ones,
- 55:43Speaker 1: and he does a lot of really heavy curls. This
- 55:46Speaker 1: is the base, but he does all the same like
- 55:48Speaker 1: we do all the same exercises, just different different formulas.
- 55:53Speaker 3: Now when you hear the best guy is doing things
- 55:56Speaker 3: different than you, Yeah, what keeps you from doing what
- 56:01Speaker 3: he does?
- 56:03Speaker 1: So we are all different, right, that's what he used
- 56:05Speaker 1: to look like.
- 56:08Speaker 3: Shout out too, shout out, shout out to all the
- 56:13Speaker 3: scientists out there.
- 56:14Speaker 1: He's very young in that first photo. Of course, you
- 56:17Speaker 1: know he slowly evolved through the World championships to what
- 56:22Speaker 1: he is today. Yeah, it's interesting when when you see
- 56:27Speaker 1: different champions and I try and learn from everybody. I
- 56:30Speaker 1: watch what everybody does, I see what they're doing. You
- 56:34Speaker 1: have to also consider where your body's at. Okay, I
- 56:38Speaker 1: can't do the things I did when I was twenty
- 56:40Speaker 1: five physically, I just can't. I have I Like I said,
- 56:44Speaker 1: I've had surgeries.
- 56:46Speaker 3: But yet you can still arm wrestle. Yeah. So obviously
- 56:50Speaker 3: you're very strong in these particular areas and it's not
- 56:53Speaker 3: holding you back at Allso what what is holding you back? Say? Injuries?
- 57:00Speaker 1: Well, arm wrestling is a big thing. Okay. There are
- 57:04Speaker 1: several things that you can kind of choose to focus on.
- 57:08Speaker 1: Probably my biggest limiting factor is my elbow because I've
- 57:12Speaker 1: had multiple surgeries on it, I burn it out. Like
- 57:15Speaker 1: at the beginning of my career, I was more of
- 57:17Speaker 1: a hook style arm wrestler. That's where like the primary
- 57:21Speaker 1: kind of drive in the sport is the flexion of
- 57:23Speaker 1: the wrist and you're moving forward with your shoulder and
- 57:26Speaker 1: you're kind of trying to tack the person's arm more.
- 57:30Speaker 1: But over time, my elbow just got broke down to
- 57:32Speaker 1: the point where you know, I just don't have a
- 57:34Speaker 1: lot of stability. Now I continue to work on it,
- 57:37Speaker 1: and quite honestly, my hooking now this stability is probably
- 57:42Speaker 1: pretty good. I think that we do we all as athletes,
- 57:49Speaker 1: do the best thing we think we can. And I
- 57:53Speaker 1: think that the work that I do is very precise,
- 57:58Speaker 1: like the way that Levon trys and I and and please,
- 58:02Speaker 1: I don't like to criticize Levon. He's the best, okay,
- 58:06Speaker 1: but egotistically and arrogantly, I'm gonna say that my training
- 58:10Speaker 1: is more precise than his. Okay, So I'm working on
- 58:13Speaker 1: very precise angles where he's a sledgehammer at times, you know,
- 58:19Speaker 1: like I'm working on very fine angles through my wrist.
- 58:23Speaker 1: You know, a lot of pronation in my style, a
- 58:25Speaker 1: lot of hand control, a lot of table time, like
- 58:27Speaker 1: I'm doing a lot of skill based training. Levon's base movements,
- 58:33Speaker 1: his his role, his his I mean he's doing he's
- 58:37Speaker 1: doing one hundred and eighty kilo curl you know, two
- 58:42Speaker 1: hands or one hand two But that's a but he's
- 58:46Speaker 1: he's the amount of weight that he's wrist curling. I'm
- 58:50Speaker 1: I'm never gonna get there. Okay, I'm never gonna catch
- 58:54Speaker 1: him there. Okay, I need to catch him through something smaller,
- 58:58Speaker 1: like I need to be able to like a pitbull,
- 59:00Speaker 1: like somehow nip onto like his fingertip and not let it.
- 59:04Speaker 3: Go because you're never going to be as big as him.
- 59:07Speaker 1: Probably not, But do you think that it.
- 59:10Speaker 3: Would benefit you at all to add size.
- 59:13Speaker 1: To get I try it for every single prep that
- 59:18Speaker 1: I do. I'm trying in the super heavyweight division. I'm
- 59:21Speaker 1: trying to get just being as strong as a.
- 59:23Speaker 3: Cant What do you wait now?
- 59:24Speaker 1: Today, I'm probably two sixty.
- 59:26Speaker 3: Five, and so you're giving up a considerable amount of weight.
- 59:30Speaker 1: When I compete, I can I can get up to
- 59:32Speaker 1: three hundred okay when I'm competing, and hopefully by the
- 59:36Speaker 1: time I face him again, I'll be my biggest ever.
- 59:39Speaker 1: I hope when I pull him, I'll be three ten
- 59:41Speaker 1: or three twenty. You know.
- 59:43Speaker 3: And when you do that, what would you do to
- 59:44Speaker 3: get that big? Would you add a bunch of weightlifting stuff? No? No,
- 59:49Speaker 3: what would you do? Just eat?
- 59:51Speaker 1: Eat, stay in my basement? You know?
- 59:54Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah, but he's doing all this other stuff. This
- 59:58Speaker 3: is why I'm confused, Like, how have you tried adding
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: all those chin ups and all the different things that
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: he does.
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: I am very far down the road. I'm very very
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: far down the road. I've been doing this for like
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: thirty two years competitively, I've gone through so many systems.
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: While it is incredible to have a great row, while
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: it is incredible to have a great wristflection, while it's
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: incredible to have great legs, Like I go to tournaments,
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: sometimes my legs are sore. But typically the reason why
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: you win and lose the match is very small things
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: in the hand and the wrist, like this is typically
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: the failure point. So I just try and put everything
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: into the most valuable pieces that I think is actually
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: going to determine my victory, and look at apart from Levaughn,
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: it's working, you know, this guy has raised he's raised
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: the sport, you know, and I continue to chase him.
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: I continue to try and beat this dude. You know,
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: my wife's got the first time the first time he.
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: Tore my bicet.
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: Oh whoa you know see that tattoo?
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: Uh huh, so it's a cat with.
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: Four fifteen I used to call him a four hundred
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: and fifteen pound pussy, you know. In the work up
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: to the match, I just tease him and in George
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: and it says Levon was here because he ripped it
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: second round. So that was the first time was a wash.
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: The second time I pulled him, I stopped him. I
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: stopped him round one.
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: What does that mean?
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: So a lot of times in arm wrestling, get everything straight,
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: don't move go and uh to stop a match means.
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: There's no movement, so no one's winning, nobody's winning, and
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: you don't just keep going to the death. Oh yeah
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: you do, oh.
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: Yeah, one hundred percent. Yeah, But I got like, if
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: you look up the second time that I arm wrestled
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: for round one, Yeah, okay, so this is this is
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: the last time I pulled them, which is twenty twenty four.
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: And when you say pulled them. Yeah, match with them. Yeah,
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: that's right.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: So everything goes to the straps. And I'm telling you.
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: Like, so, is that what happens when the match doesn't
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: work out and the hands slip away from each other?
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: Straps?
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: Straps? Do you guys put powder in your hands or anything?
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: Yeah, use chalk, But yeah, every this sport is a
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: strap based sport at this point, like rules are evolving
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: in arm wrestling. It used to be well in some leagues.
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: Still you get a foul if there's a slip somebody's
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: intentionally did it or it's a neutral slip, and then
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: they go to the straps. But yeah, so we get
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: to the straps, and this first round is the closest
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: stuff gotten to them. And in this match, I think
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: he I think he might have ripped my spine apart,
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: Like yeah, I couldn't walk properly for like four months.
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: Really yeah. Yeah, so I'm top rolling, I get into
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: his wrist and uh and I'm just like I'm in shock.
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: I'm like I can't so I kind of I think
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: I had the opportunity here to do a little bit
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: more like to seize the initiative, but I was in
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: such shock that I got him to this point. You know,
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: I'm just and then here we go. His wrist is
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: starting to go and so that's a flopper's press, and
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: I get a foul. Okay, first, see my shoulder goes
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: below the table.
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: Uh huh.
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: This is called decline humorous and it's and it's a foul.
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: You can't you can't do it, so.
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: You start from scratch.
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: Well, I'm actually on my second foul. So that's a
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: loss because I was being too much of an idiot
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: in the setup and they and they gave me a foul.
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: And then from here on he just he just runs me.
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: So it's a loss. What do you mean?
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: So, and I'm wrestling. If you get two fouls, it's
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: a loss.
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: So the match is over.
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: Matches over. But see this is best of seven. So
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: from here he runs me over. But this is the
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: closest of gotten. Okay, we've practiced this since then, we've
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: we've we've gone too. I'll probably practice with him this weekend,
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: but I'm slated to pull this monster again. It's gonna
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: happen one more time, for sure. It's uh, it's what
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: keeps me in my basement.
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: It's what this guy, the size of that mother.
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: He's awesome, he's a he's a beautiful human. I I
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: love I love this guy.
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: He's he's the.
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: He's lifting the sport in terms of performance, you know,
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: Like he's so hard to deal with. Yeah, and that's it, man,
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: it just gets worth, it just gets worse. But uh yeah,
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: so I I can still win in like one hundred
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: and fifteen keel division, in one hundred and five keel division,
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: I think I've got those ones pretty much wrapped up.
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: It's but but it's the open man to be the best. Yeah,
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: regardless of weight.
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: That's so much weight to give up, I know, but
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: giving up one pounds.
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's so cool to try, you know, it's
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: so cool to try. And what he does is he
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: cleans my life up. If it wasn't for him, I
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: wouldn't do all this really, No, I'd be happy being
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: the champ, you know. But when you're not the champ,
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: you're not happy and you're gonna do everything you can.
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: So so even though you're a champ at your weight class,
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: is the open that open haunts you?
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: Haunts me? Yeah, I've been there before, like so in
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: two thousand and eight, I was actually I won against
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: this legendary figure as a sport, chombers Inc. He's considered
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: the greatest of all time jombers Inc. Basically for forty years,
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: forty years from the time he was like eighteen to
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: like almost sixty. Okay, he went undefeated for like basically
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: undefeated for like twenty five years. Yeah in American this guy,
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: this guy super cool. Okay, different era and you'll see
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: the difference. Okay, so you'll see that this sport is changed.
- 1:06:00Speaker 3: Can we pull him up?
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: John ers Inc. John Erzinc's the goat. Yeah, yeah, he'll
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: be there this weekend too.
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: And is he still competing?
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: John is not really competing, but he's just so tied
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: into the sport. I think it's inevitable that he comes back.
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: But how old he's like sixty sixty one or yeah? Wow, Yeah,
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: he's the man. This guy's the man. So you know
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: the movie Over the Top, m hm uh so, Sylvester,
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: that's actually John. The tournament was real? Oh really, yeah,
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: that was a real The movie followed the tournament and
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: John is actually the guy who won it.
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: And John's not that big, No, he's not. How much
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: does John Way on a good day.
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: On a great day. John's like two thirty, but when
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: he was young and healthy, probably five like, so when
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: he was winning, when he like he went like he
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: went like twenty five years around two hundred and ten pounds,
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: beating every single person on the planet.
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: How he's awesome. He's awesome.
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: John bras inc So. John started arm wrestling when he
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: was a kid with his dad, and he's one of
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: the first guys. John is one of the first guys
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: who arm wrestling has kind of evolved in its respectedness.
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: Okay as a sport. I think if you went back
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: like forty years and you talk about arm wrestling, people
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: would be like, oh, that's cool. Yeah, let's go arm wrestle,
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: Like and I'm gonna get better by arm wrestling by
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: doing pecs and glutes and you know, get my whole
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: body strong. And John was kind of one of the
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: first guys who was like, I'm an arm wrestler. I
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: practice arm wrestling, I'll go to tournaments. I don't need
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: to lift weights. Okay, so he started young. The dude's
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: thumb is probably like bigger than mine, and he's like,
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: you know, six foot one, six foot two, So he's
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: to a certain degree built for it, but masterful technician.
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: So he doesn't lift weights. No, So all he did
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: was arm wrestle to try for arm wrestling.
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: Isn't that wild?
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: That's great?
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: So it gave No, he's not. That's a former Russian
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: champion Zaur. Actually, no, Zaura mightn't be Georgia. He might
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: have been Russian at this time, but he's a Georgian. Yeah. Yeah,
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: John's technique was way above everybody's, way way above.
- 1:08:22Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: I remember coming up like I had heard about johnbras Inc.
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: For years before I ever saw him, because you know
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: it's pre internet, right, John bras Inc. Like silently ruled
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: the arm wrestling world for decades, you know, pre internet,
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: pre all this stuff. And yeah, and he went around
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: the world beating all the monsters all the and this
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: is who I actually got the world title from. So
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: I beat John in two thousand and eight for the
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: world title. And it looks very different now, you know,
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: Like so before so I was probably the last of
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: the small super heavyweights if you call if you call
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: me small, like I'm bigger in John, but not by
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: a lot, not by a lot. Uh. See Dennis the
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: plankoff on the left, That guy's a really famous arm wrestler.
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: He was one of the guys who really raised the level.
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: So that guy had a strength level. Dennis, he came
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: in and he won the world title without really doing anything.
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I can't believe he doesn't lift weights.
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: He doesn't lift weights.
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: All he does is arm wrestle.
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: All he does is arm wrestle.
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: No other kind of physical training at all. He's a mechanic.
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: He's a special guy. Listen, listen.
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: It's incredible the arm.
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: Wrestling world loves and worships John bers inc He's he's
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: the goat. He's like the forefather. Like I remember when
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: I was coming up, I read everything this dude wrote.
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: He is the one of the reasons why we all
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: kind of respect table time, don't need weight so much specialization.
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: John is kind of poster boy for specialization.
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: And what kind of training did he do, Dude, He
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: arm wrestled, arm wrestle. He would do specific things when
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: he was arm wrestling, and that.
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: We keep asking the same questions about John, like we think,
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: like some people think he had like a secret setup
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: in his basement and stuff like that. But everything kind
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: of points towards even if he's kind of kidding us
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: and tricking us. It's certainly not a lot.
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: He arm wrestled with his dad as a kid, Okay,
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: and you know they're practicing all the time. So this Iceman, okay,
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: that's the that's the guy who John beat to become
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: kind of the best. Okay. This guy is like the
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: guy before John.
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: So he was the original king of arm wrestling.
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: He is, ye Johnny Walker, yeah, iceman, and he he
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: was the best for a long time, but John eventually
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: beat him. You know, you see that's John is like
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: a kid, right, John's probably like seventeen there.
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, but no, John arm wrestled all like our
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: wrestling is gonna make you strong. Oh you you will
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: get that. And that's a lot of reason why we
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: get guys into the sport who are in the strength field.
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: Like if you're a strong man, if you're powerlefl you
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: try arm wrestling, you'll be so sore, you'll be like,
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: oh my god. Because people look for that, right.
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: Like people saw the thing that can get you really sore.
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: Arm wrestling will get you so sore that you can
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: barely move. I've been so sore from arm wrestling matches.
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: I can't even walk I can't even get up for
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: for days, for days, like wow, yeah, yeah, yeah, unbelievable
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: because it's something about the way the body is designed,
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: like we are actually probably designed to resist things from
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: happening more than we are to make things happen. So
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: we're very very strong to stop things from happening. And
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: arm wrestling is what that. That's the strength we really
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: hone in on, right, because we're locking, We get into
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: these locked positions and then we're trying to open the
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: other person up. And this process of being ripped open
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: is super taxing, super super taxing. So yes, John John
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: ruled the arm wrestling world for like twenty five years.
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: He's still around. Yeah, I'll get the I'll get to
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: talk to him tomorrow. Yeah.
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: And so do you think he thinks about competing again?
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: Of course he does, of course he does.
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: But he doesn't. When was the last time he did it?
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: Last time he competed was in Dallas. He competed against
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: a guy called Yoshi kin I, who's the number one
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: guy from Japan. John is way past his prime. Okay,
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: like John John. When John was like in his thirties,
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: he was like the Levaughn but two and ten pounds,
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: nobody could beat him. It took a while, but the
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: thing is, arm wrestling got cool, you know, to a
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: degree where we were on ESPN. Governments started to recognize it.
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: So if you were from the right country, you know,
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: you could be a pro arm wrestler, like if you're
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: from Georgia or Turkey or Kazakhstan. You know, so the
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: level started rising.
- 1:13:09Speaker 3: When did this start happening.
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: I think that governments started to recognize it. I'm gonna
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: guess here that a lot of them started to do
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: it around the turn of the millennia. Okay, probably they
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: started around then, but it takes a long time for
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: the it all to like get it, and and some
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: countries are still switching over. I think Sweden just got recognized,
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: like I think within the last year or so. But
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: once a country recognizes it as a sport, it's a
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: massive influx of cash and support, so that'll raise the level.
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: But what happened was we got there was all these leagues,
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: like there was the pal in Europe, there was the
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: wal in North America, and it and it, and it
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: got the sport to a point where if you were
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: the best, you could probably quit your job okay, and
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: that was a huge step forward because you know, yeah,
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: that's a big step, right, And that happened around twenty fifteen.
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: And do you think that's because of the Internet, like
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: YouTube videos, like popularity increases, TikTok, Instagram, that kind of shit.
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: I that was massive, but it happened a bit later. First,
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: what happened a lot of small little steps. You know,
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: there was a documentary Pulling John that came out. There
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: was a couple of rich guys who thought arm wrestling
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: was cool and they just started to run leagues. Robert
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: Drink with the ual Ultimate Armressling League got to California.
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: I mean it went from like when I first started
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: the sport Mike gool Classic, if we won five hundred bucks,
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: it was the greatest day of our life. You know,
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: it was so cool we won five hundred bucks, like
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: you know, that was it. And then with by By
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: by tw or so. Even before that, the pl we
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: were talking about thousands of dollars, ten thousand dollars. Wal
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: came along and we got a massive influx of money.
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: You were talking about twenty thousand dollars, okay, and then
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: we were on ESPNS. The responsors Okay, so you could
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: get some sponsor money if you were the best. You
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: could barely make it. You could barely make it. And
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: then and then COVID happened, and COVID burnt down. Everything
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: burnt down, all the leagues which were kind of fractioning
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: the sport. Right, we had the best guys from Europe
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: competing together best guys from North America. When all the
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: leagues burnt down from the ashes and a lot of
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: people and that's when TikTok and YouTube really started kicking
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: because everybody was locked in their house and somehow our
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: wrestling got found and our views went through the roof.
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: People started to follow our Mestling's good for TikTok attention span,
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: you know, you can see a whole Yeah. And then yeah,
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: so East versus West came along and now we're everything
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: at UFC. We're like the UFC of arm wrestling. Now
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: East versus West, all the best guys in the world
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: all pull it East versus West and there's an event
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: every seven weeks international.
- 1:16:13Speaker 3: So, like, what does a top guy make to win
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: a tournament? Now?
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: You know, it's it's tricky when we talk about money,
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: but you will make like if you're a if you're
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: a top arm wrestler, now you're you're definitely you definitely
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: don't eat a side job, you definitely don't, and you're
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: and you're you're probably definitely making a healthy a healthy
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: six figures, you know, definitely. So yeah, so East Versus
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: West kind of raised the level after COVID. It's not
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: the same sport. It's not like the champions now, like
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: it's tough. It's tough to win a world way harder
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: to win a world title now than it was ten
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: or fifteen, twenty years ago. Yeah, now we have Levon.
- 1:16:58Speaker 3: Right, is there any drug testing at East versus West?
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: There's not? Okay, so it's it's F one. You know,
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: everything everything goes but you know, like Indy Car, everybody's
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: got the same car, right, f one like innovation innovation,
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: uh waff government funded that has testing. Sorry, World arm
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: Wrestling Federation. So World arm Wrestling Federation is kind of
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: like the base of the sport. Okay, it's it's a
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: world level, so every country kind of plugs into it.
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: They have state or provincial, Uh, then they have national
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: they have like Europeans or North Americans, and then they
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: have a World Championships annually, different part of the world
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: every year. That's testing.
- 1:17:50Speaker 3: It's such a universal thing. Like I remember arm wrestling
- 1:17:54Speaker 3: kids in high school. You know, everybody knows how to
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: arm wrestle. It's always been around, it's always been a thing.
- 1:18:00Speaker 3: So it's really interesting to think that it's becoming more
- 1:18:02Speaker 3: popular now than ever.
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: It is. It's wonderful. I love the sport. I think
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: that it's a great sport because of its safety, it's longevity,
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: it's simplicity.
- 1:18:18Speaker 3: Yeah, beautiful sport. But there's a lot of aspects to it.
- 1:18:21Speaker 3: It's simple, but you're still learning it is so it
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: can be that simple.
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: Like anything, you know, the more you dive into something,
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: the more it opens.
- 1:18:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: Yeah, at the level that I'm at now, you know,
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: I continue to learn subtleties on a technical level, but
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: it overflows more now into more vague and kind of
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: like lifestyle principles. And I feel like that's how I
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: get my big gains now, is you know, is the
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: way I live my life? Like the sport, you know,
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: kind of cleans up my whole life.
- 1:18:53Speaker 3: Yeah, because you want to perform, well that's it, and
- 1:18:57Speaker 3: so you're just so dedicated that like you're on top nutrition,
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: your sleep, everything, everything.
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, somewhere between a balance between chaos and order,
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: perfect performance is found. Mm hmm. Yeah.
- 1:19:12Speaker 3: The balance between chaos and order is interesting because you
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: kind of to become great, you kind of have to
- 1:19:17Speaker 3: have some chaos.
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: You It's so essential.
- 1:19:20Speaker 3: Chaos is a huge talk that this is this is
- 1:19:25Speaker 3: I love this one.
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: This is so good. This is one of my latest
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: learning points that I've taken into account. Uh And it's
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: massively affected my planning, the way I the way I
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: plan events. Uh So, I have met many people in
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: my life, and I've met, probably in my entire life,
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: probably like two people who I would consider completely pure,
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: you know, like basically like a Jesus Christ kind of person,
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: like no sin okay. But and and on the other side,
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: I've met only like a couple people who I thought
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: were generally pure evil or you know. But I think
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: most people are somewhere in the middle, okay, and they
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: need that balance in their life, you know. And I
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: think that you need to if you're talking about performance
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: on a single date, this balance of what you are
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: needs to be structured. So I think that actually in
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: the fight, like when you're actually fighting a lot of
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: people I think perform best in chaos. Okay, so when
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: you get into the stage, you have to be completely wild,
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: no rules, like you need to be completely unhinged. But
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: leading up to it, you need to structure. You need
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: to really become very ordered. And the more you can
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: bring order into your life, the better. I went to
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: a kind of a presentation by this guy Mac okay,
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: so geneticist as well, and he was talking about how
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: light only exists in this balance between chaos and order.
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: And from that I brought that into my training by
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: making sticker charts. So when I was young, my mom
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: used to motivate me through sticker charts. So when I
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: did a good job, she'd give me a sticker and
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: I loved it. So I have brought this concept into
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: my training. Where there's only two stickers. There's there's a
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: blue sticker, which is he didn't quite make it. It's
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: representative of chaos, and and and a white sticker, which
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: is representative order. And after I compete, I purposely move
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: into chaos. And it's not as though like, oh I'm
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: in chaos and I let everything catch on fire. I
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: just I don't need structure I can go wherever. I
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: can learn new things, I can try new things. I
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: can open up my mind to whatever I want. Nothing's required.
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: But really I'm trying to gather data, put together a
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: plan so that when I move into structure, I have
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: a new kind of plan.
- 1:22:08Speaker 3: So how do you structure that when you say you
- 1:22:12Speaker 3: move into chaos, like you allow yourself to not have
- 1:22:14Speaker 3: a plan. Yeah, so this is obviously very planned.
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, so I will move from major My life
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: is structured that I'm moving. It's in blocks. Okay, so
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: I move from major event to major event. I am
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: now at the very beginning of probably the longest block
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: that I've ever had in my life. I'm going to
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: face that guy Levon in like sixteen months. It's forever.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: It's an eternity, you know. So I am now in
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: this period when I can travel, I can, I can
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: just I can be more open in a way. It
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: helps get me there, you know. I am trying to
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: come up with what I think is the perfect blend
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: so that when I lock into my basement, I'm being
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: super accurate. But I do believe that if you just
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: try and be good every day, if you try and
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: live a certain way every day it creeps into your life.
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: I need like a finish line. Okay, Like, if I
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: know I only have to be like this for four
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: months or five months, I can make it. You know.
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: If I'm like, I have to be like this for
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: my whole life, everything creeps in, it falls apart. But
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: it's an aid for me psychologically to remain disciplined. And
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: it's a way for me to fit chaos into my
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: life where it satisfies me as a human being, and
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: I get to have fun and I get to go
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: outside of my box. But that's the hardest thing to
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: be a world champion at fifty one is to put
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: all your energy into something so simple. This is the
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: most difficult piece is the psychological dedication to do ten
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: hours of risk crows in a day.
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: You know, this is the difficulty.
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: I do. I'll go, I'll get up in the morning
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: and my wife Jody will help me. Okay, We'll have
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: food and I'm doing like And that's the thing. So
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: right now I'm coming up with the formula for the
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: next one. But I was doing fourteen uh seven times
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: two because I was soon right and left. I'm going
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: back to pumpkin training, which is right hand. Only you
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: know about growing giant pumpkins? No, you know those you
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: know you've ever seen those fairs where they have.
- 1:24:40Speaker 3: Like a right Yeah.
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: So what that tell what that teaches is if you
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: want to have a giant pumpkin, you pinch off all
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: the flowers on the vine except for one my giant pumpkin. Yeah.
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: So I try and put everything into the right. I
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: put all this is so, this is specialization. So I've
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: done this project for like, I did it for like
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: six years before.
- 1:25:07Speaker 3: So when you're saying you put everything in the right,
- 1:25:09Speaker 3: meaning you don't do living wrist curls or anything with
- 1:25:11Speaker 3: your left hand, nothing, nothing, nothing really yeah. Yeah, now
- 1:25:18Speaker 3: this is energy energy source.
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, it's interesting.
- 1:25:24Speaker 3: Interesting.
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:25:25Speaker 3: This is the difference to your right and your left.
- 1:25:27Speaker 3: Yeah Jesus.
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: Yeah. So you see, and I I came up with
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: this theory, you know a little bit because of just nature. Okay,
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: and I see how nature works. But uh yeah, you have.
- 1:25:39Speaker 3: One giant is this one big big The size of
- 1:25:42Speaker 3: the difference.
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: It's a bit, it's a bit bigger twice as big.
- 1:25:46Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: And and I was balanced, Okay, I was equally I
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: was left hand. World champion. Also, okay, I I've but
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: but as of age, I'm like, how can I remain
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: at the top of the sport. I'm gonna have to
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: cut things, you know.
- 1:26:01Speaker 3: But why does training your left arm take away from
- 1:26:04Speaker 3: your right arm?
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: I think we only have so much energy. I think
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: there's like a finite amount of energy that we have,
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: and if I tell my body that my energy goes here,
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: more of it will go there and more development will happen.
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: I don't think it's like I have this limitedless amount
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: of energy where I can be like a proportionate bodybuilder
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: and be a world champion. I think that to be
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: at the very top, you need to be very specialized
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: and very focused. That's that's what I believe. This comes
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: like a lot of people criticize me for this, Okay,
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: I get I get heaps of criticism, and I'm very
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: well aware of it. And I think that if you were.
- 1:26:44Speaker 3: Can I stop you? Yes, we say, heaps of criticism
- 1:26:46Speaker 3: by who? And is it valid? I don't think it's
- 1:26:50Speaker 3: valid criticizing you.
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: I think that most of the criticism comes from more
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: junior players. Okay, I think that most seen your arm wrestlers,
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: most guys who are like on my level, they understand it,
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: and to a certain degree, we all do it. Okay,
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: I'm just an extreme example, but a lot of guys
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: do it. Okay, a lot of guys do this in
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: the sport. There's a couple things that lead me to this. Okay,
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: the pumpkin is just a fun metaphor.
- 1:27:19Speaker 3: Okay, But.
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: When you get hurt in the one side, I think
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: that a lot of people notice that. Somehow, there's this
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: amazing compensation that happens. Another thing is we have freaks
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: in the sport. We have we attract some real weirdos. Okay,
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: guy called ole exoc or h or Mattia Schlitty Okay,
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: and these are hell boys, real life hellboys. Okay. So
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: they have like one arm that is crazy jacked.
- 1:27:52Speaker 3: I've seen this one cat. He's a small dude. Yeah,
- 1:27:55Speaker 3: and he has one arm that's like a leg.
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:27:58Speaker 3: What is his name?
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: It's Olegg or Mattias. There are best examples. Old Egg
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: is better like o'legg. Olegg's world champion.
- 1:28:06Speaker 3: What's his last name?
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: Zakame?
- 1:28:09Speaker 3: Oh, he's so cool. Yeah, and he's the dude, yeah, yeah, dude.
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: And I've fought him.
- 1:28:14Speaker 3: I loved at the size of his fucking left arm.
- 1:28:17Speaker 3: That is that is insanity.
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, Okay, I actually pulled this guy at the
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: UL many years ago and he was like one hundred
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: and sixty five pounds and I was and I was
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: the current world champion and the kid almost beat me.
- 1:28:29Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, yeah, left handed, left handed.
- 1:28:31Speaker 4: Yeah, Jesus Christ's arm is insane and that awesome.
- 1:28:36Speaker 3: That is so crazy. Yeah, he has the arm of
- 1:28:39Speaker 3: a three hundred pounds man.
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: Dude, at one hundred and seventy pounds, he was almost
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: not even the world champion in his division, he was
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: almost the world champion in the open.
- 1:28:52Speaker 3: Okay, look at his left arm, and it's crazy.
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: And what's extra crazy about it is the insertion points.
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: It's not just that he's hypertrophied and blown up, like
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: the insertion points are different. He's like the angles of
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: his musculature, the development like it's it's wild.
- 1:29:11Speaker 3: And how is that genetic? Is that built?
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: He was born like that to a certain degree.
- 1:29:17Speaker 3: His right arm looks normal, normal, so how is it
- 1:29:20Speaker 3: so different on his left arm?
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: So it's my theory, okay, that he has a bit
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: of a blood flow disorder. Okay, I believe that. So
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: the arterial spread in the body for most of us
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: is all the same. We have like an even distribution
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: across our body. But I believe that his arterial spread
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: is different. I think he's got a heavy, heavy arterial
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: flow to one side. I've heard I talked to Mattias.
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: Mattias is another guy with this disorder. He was the
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: one who kind of led me to believe that this
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: is what was going on with him. And so this
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: made me believe that there was so much value in
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: blood flow alone when it comes to the expression of
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: what you are, like, I think anything that just gets
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: more blood flow enhances.
- 1:30:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: The expression of the human being is largely determined by
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: the circulation of that the genetic you know, peace receives.
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: And I think with guys like this, it happened like
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: in Utero.
- 1:30:32Speaker 3: That is crazy, fucking crazy.
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, And he got in a vicious car crash,
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: horrible one almost killed him, and he's he rehabbed and
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: he's and once again he's he's the world champ again
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: in the eighty five kilo division completely and he like
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: he should be dead, like he broke everything like super
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: trauma and he's still the best. Yeah, pieced them back
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: together and he's still he's still the man. But yeah,
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: but what what he taught me and what other people
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: taught me is the value. And I believe it's all theories. Okay,
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: I could be wrong on everything, but I think that
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: it's the blood flow that really it heals, its strengthens,
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: and a lot of the thing is is the heart
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: isn't strong enough to feed all the structures and that's
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: where movement comes in. So that's why I train this way.
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: Increased circulation.
- 1:31:33Speaker 3: Yeah, wow, so yes, but I still don't understand, like,
- 1:31:39Speaker 3: clearly he's working that one arm more than he's working
- 1:31:41Speaker 3: the left arm.
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I think to a certain degree. But because of
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: the way he was this is Mattias right, Yeah, and
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: he's and he's like German German national champion kind of level. Yeah,
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: and like it's just it's hard to compete with.
- 1:31:59Speaker 3: But how much of that is just work with the
- 1:32:01Speaker 3: right side over and over and over again, and how
- 1:32:03Speaker 3: much of it is you think a genetic component.
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: With these guys. It's a lot of genetic really, yeah,
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: with them. But I believe the reason why it's expressing
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: that way is because then our arterial spread, okay, And
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: talking to Mattias, He's the one that led me to
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: believe that initially.
- 1:32:20Speaker 3: Is that our tials spread influenced by work, Like does
- 1:32:23Speaker 3: it change the expression of the arteries in the in
- 1:32:26Speaker 3: the muscles.
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: I think you can influence blood flow for sure, Like
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: I think if you are repeatedly working one region very heavily,
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: your your circulatory system is going to adapt. Like my
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: endurance capabilities on my right and my left are completely different.
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: And that's from years of doing this, and so I
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: have to think that, you know, it's not just a
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: cellular thing. It's got to be the blood flow, It's
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: got to be everything that it's adapted over years. Yeah,
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: and look at I really care about being the best,
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: and all the information that I have makes me. I'm
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: doing it again, Like I laid off it for a
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: couple of years, but I've started to do it again
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: as I do my final prep one more time.
- 1:33:09Speaker 3: When you say do it again, what are you doing differently?
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: I'll go back to So my work capacity, work work
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: amount that I'm doing between my right and left arm,
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: it's sometimes it's equal. Sometimes is what I do with
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: the right is what I do with the left. Sometimes
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: when I go to the club, I'll do right arm,
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: I'll do left arm, and now I've just swung it back.
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: So I go to the club and I'm basically arm
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: wrestling everybody. I can't right hand until people are kind
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: of bored, and then I'll do some left hand work.
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: But the right is the priority. And the same thing
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: when I do my homework in the basement, I'm doing
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: like eighty five to ninety percent work on the right
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: and maybe like just ten percent, like just you know,
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: just for timing and whatever on the left. Yeah, wow, yeah, yeah,
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: super specialized.
- 1:33:55Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, it's insane.
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: I was I'm sorry. I was worried like that I
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: was going to develop like back issues, imbalance issues. Yeah,
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: none of that ever happened.
- 1:34:07Speaker 3: Huh. Yeah, guys do that from archery. They develop imbalance
- 1:34:11Speaker 3: issues just from pulling a bow one sided. Like my
- 1:34:14Speaker 3: friend Evan, he got a left handed bow just so
- 1:34:17Speaker 3: he could practice left handed as well, because he felt
- 1:34:20Speaker 3: like it would balance him out right.
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: I think balance is overrated, really yeah. I think balance
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: is a nice concept for like some imaginary world that
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: you live in. But if I live in a world
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: where I'm trying to win a world title right handed,
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: then I need to let my body know that this
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: is what I'm getting ready for and not confusing.
- 1:34:41Speaker 3: There's an interesting comparison in jiu jitsu because there's a
- 1:34:44Speaker 3: lot of guys that have like a very strong right
- 1:34:46Speaker 3: side attack, like Eddie Bravo, for instance. Eddie Bravo's attack
- 1:34:50Speaker 3: is almost always on the right side of the body.
- 1:34:51Speaker 3: Obviously he has a black belt level attack on the left,
- 1:34:54Speaker 3: but his right side attack is where he puts all
- 1:34:57Speaker 3: his energy to and his philosophy was along those same lines.
- 1:35:01Speaker 3: If you just developed this one side like so lethal.
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that so much. It's about, you know,
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: being able to have an icebreaker, you know, something that
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: stops a match or wins you the match. And at
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: a world level, it's it's everything like if you can
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: if you can bring something from a ninety nine to
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: one hundred, you know, but it takes fifteen points off
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: your left. That's a trade that a lot of people
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: are willing to make.
- 1:35:28Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: If I can do anything to push my right a
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: level up, if it let makes me, you know, wither
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: away in my left, good trade.
- 1:35:38Speaker 3: One of the things that I watched that I thought
- 1:35:39Speaker 3: was really interesting. I've watching a lot of these rock
- 1:35:43Speaker 3: climbers and they're ridiculous grip strength. Yeah, a lot of
- 1:35:46Speaker 3: these guys. There's that cat that has a YouTube channel.
- 1:35:49Speaker 3: I know you've been on at Magnus. Magnus, how do
- 1:35:51Speaker 3: you say his last same mid bow? Mid bow? And
- 1:35:53Speaker 3: he had that one dude who's just a super freak.
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: Eve Gravell.
- 1:35:57Speaker 3: Yes, he trains with me. Okay. That guy went right
- 1:36:02Speaker 3: into arm wrestling and was fucking people up right away,
- 1:36:04Speaker 3: which is crazy, which makes me think that maybe that
- 1:36:08Speaker 3: kind of specialized training is like a cheat code.
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: It's close, it's close.
- 1:36:13Speaker 3: Yeah. That guy also has like enormous leg sized forearms.
- 1:36:18Speaker 3: Eve Grevelle, So you can find him training with Magnus
- 1:36:22Speaker 3: because they're in Eve's basement where he does all his training,
- 1:36:26Speaker 3: and he's doing these like how many millimeters is like
- 1:36:28Speaker 3: hole two? Okay, so he's doing two millimeter holes with
- 1:36:31Speaker 3: his fingers where he's hanging.
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm telling you, it makes no sense.
- 1:36:36Speaker 3: He's such a freak.
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: It makes zero sense. Like Magnus is superstyle, Okay, Magnus
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: is like world level climber Eve. When it comes to
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: the strength component of climbing, it's it doesn't even make
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: I don't even understand how it's how anybody could even
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: do it. Like it's like credit card. He can do
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: pull ups off the credit card.
- 1:36:59Speaker 3: That's insane.
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: Yeah, how I don't know. I don't know how he
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: does it. It doesn't and like he has like rounded surfaces
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: where there is nothing to bite right there, there's nothing.
- 1:37:11Speaker 3: So he's just chalking up his fingers and he hangs
- 1:37:13Speaker 3: on there's nothing there.
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: I don't know how he does it. There's nothing to bite,
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: there's nothing, and he's pulling up off. I can't even
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: understand how he does it. So he came into arm
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: wrestling and he's like one hundred and fifty pounds, but.
- 1:37:30Speaker 3: It's forty pounds of his forms.
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: So we have a tournament in Ottawa where we both live.
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: It's called the Ottawa Open and it attracts the strongest
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: dudes in the region. To win the Ottawa Open is
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: really tough. He wanted his first year after arm wrestling
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: six six weeks. What it's completely anyways, what once I
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: got and fifty pounds? Oh my god, Eve Gervell is
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: a complete weirdo. I've never in my life life met
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: somebody who can do the stuff with grip that he
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: can do, and it's.
- 1:38:03Speaker 3: All that training that he's doing. He's doing all this
- 1:38:05Speaker 3: insane grip training, which makes me think, like, what if
- 1:38:09Speaker 3: you did, Dusty.
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, let me tell you. As good as Eve
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: is now, he's gonna get even better.
- 1:38:16Speaker 3: Okay, I can only imagine.
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: Yeah, nobody is touching Eve's fingers. But like I talked
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: about earlier, so if you kind of relate it to climbing, okay.
- 1:38:29Speaker 3: Can you show me some stuff with that guy doing things?
- 1:38:33Speaker 3: But it just show me some of the other freakish
- 1:38:34Speaker 3: things he does because he could pick up things from
- 1:38:36Speaker 3: the ground that nobody could pick up.
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: Yeah, he does grip competition too, So so that's another
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: world that's closely tied to arm wrestling, is the grip
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: championships right where they're just it's like powerlifting for grip. Yeah,
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: and he's the best at that too.
- 1:38:50Speaker 3: Yeah. It's just nuts. Yeah, it's really nuts. Yeah.
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: So there is a high degree of crossover, right, there is,
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: but there are slight intricacy, like a kind of way
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: to think about it. In climbing, if you have a
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: great grip, you are able to climb the wall okay,
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: but in actual arm wrestling, you actually don't want to
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: be the climber. You want to be the wall, right,
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: Do you want to make it hard for the other
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: person's grip You don't. Necessarily he's capable of climbing any wall, okay,
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: but once he figures out how to be the wall instead,
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: he's going to be so so difficult. It's fun to
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: work with him. Our club in Ottawa we have like
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: super freaks. Now we have all these new guys with
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: ridiculous potential. We got a guy come in who's bigger
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: than Brian Shock.
- 1:39:39Speaker 3: Did you ask this? Can you show me some video?
- 1:39:41Speaker 3: This guy is doing anything there there's a bunch right
- 1:39:44Speaker 3: and I'm on not his channel too. I'm like it's
- 1:39:47Speaker 3: bouncing back in between. So here he's doing fat grip.
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: Did you see the Thomas Inch You know, see Thomas
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: Inch on the left?
- 1:39:57Speaker 3: Yes?
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: Right, nobody picks up the Thomas Inch one there, one fifty.
- 1:40:01Speaker 3: You know that's nuts, that's crazy. Like this kind of
- 1:40:05Speaker 3: grip is just insane. Oh my god, that's crazy. He's
- 1:40:08Speaker 3: pinch gripping. Yeah, and that guy Magnus is strong as
- 1:40:11Speaker 3: shit too, Like I saw a video of him. Training
- 1:40:13Speaker 3: with Eddie Hall.
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: Crazy strong, and he's.
- 1:40:15Speaker 3: Doing these one armed rows with like one hundred and
- 1:40:18Speaker 3: eighty pounds on each side. And I'm like, that is
- 1:40:20Speaker 3: bananas because he's not a big guy.
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: No, but he's ridiculously strong as well.
- 1:40:24Speaker 3: And that when and him, he's dwarfed by this guy's strength, Yeah,
- 1:40:28Speaker 3: which is crazy. Yeah.
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: Eve is considered the strongest climber in the world.
- 1:40:34Speaker 3: And did you ask him when he started this and
- 1:40:36Speaker 3: how he got that strong.
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: I've talked to Eve a lot about his training. He's
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: so detailed, Like the way he trains is very interesting,
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: very progressive, very science based.
- 1:40:49Speaker 3: Look at those forums. That's bonkers.
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Eve is a and and he's an artist too.
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: He makes masks, masks, yeah, you know, like movie movie masks, Like,
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: oh wow, that's his main job. He makes masks and
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: he can climb anything. Yeah, he's super cool guy.
- 1:41:10Speaker 3: Yeah wow. So seeing that though, makes me think of
- 1:41:14Speaker 3: a guy as that small and he has that kind
- 1:41:16Speaker 3: of grip strength that that has to be a massive factor.
- 1:41:20Speaker 3: It is in your ability to armorcile. So why wouldn't
- 1:41:22Speaker 3: everybody do that? A guy is one hundred and fifty
- 1:41:25Speaker 3: pounds that he could do that shit, and he's doing
- 1:41:27Speaker 3: it with two arms. I mean, both of his arms
- 1:41:29Speaker 3: are super jacked.
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: There are levels of specialization.
- 1:41:34Speaker 3: Right, do you think it's maybe too late for you
- 1:41:38Speaker 3: to do what he's doing because he's been doing this
- 1:41:40Speaker 3: for decades and decades.
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: I believe that he is so good at all his
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: grip work, and his grip work is so high and
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: it does have a lot of crossover, it does. Would
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: I want that strength, Yes, of course. I just think
- 1:41:57Speaker 1: that the motions that I'm doing are actually more dangerous
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: for the sport of arm wrestling. Like if I was
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: to advise even I do. I talk to Eve like
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: every week I tell Eve, you know, the way he's
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: gonna progress his game is by probably doing these more
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: precise movements to become the wall, you know, to become
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: the thing that's hard to hold on too. He has
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: an amazing ability to hold on anybody, Okay, and that's
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: going to take him really, really far in the sport.
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: But I think that as he's Eve, I've told him
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: he he's older in terms of entry, but he has
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: world championship potential. You know, he's less than a year
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: in the sport. Wow, Yeah, he's been arm wrestling since
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: like last November. Yeah, give him, give him like a
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: give him like a year or two or three, and
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: he's going to be knocking on the North American like
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: you know, top pro level.
- 1:42:52Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I won't take him long. Yeah, he's he's a
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: freak for one, and he's super smart. And arm wrestling
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: is a very nice crossover for climb because so many
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: of the strengths are similar, really similar.
- 1:43:04Speaker 3: And when you say so, he's very scientific about his training,
- 1:43:07Speaker 3: like what does he do?
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: The thing that struck me when I spoke to him
- 1:43:11Speaker 1: about his training is he kind of does testing. I
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: found that very very different from the way I train.
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: So before he does his workout, he does these tests
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: like with his grip, and he like says how easy
- 1:43:24Speaker 1: or hard they are, and if and if he's not
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: feeling right, he won't do the training. So he'll continue
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: to rest. He'll abort a training session because it doesn't
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: feel right. Yeah, and I like, I'm doing it interesting. Yeah,
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: look at whatever I've seen it it's very detailed.
- 1:43:41Speaker 3: It's where did he learn this from?
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: I think he's he's crazy. He loves armor, sorry, he
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: loves he loves climbing and I think he's just obsessed,
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: and I think he probably digests everything. I probably I
- 1:43:56Speaker 1: think he's probably studies everything about climbing and strength and
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: he just put it all together.
- 1:44:01Speaker 3: So what is he doing here?
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: It looks like a static wrist test. Looks like he's
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: measuring it through a way to see how much in
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: a static capacity he can generate.
- 1:44:14Speaker 3: Yeah, pushing metrics for wrestling.
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: Yeah, so it's all just wrist curling isometric. Yeah, maximum output,
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: which is really the main strength that arm wrestlers need
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: that locked isometric or even negative strength. And all his
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: squeezing it's crazy. Yeah. Yeah, he's very special.
- 1:44:39Speaker 3: That is crazy.
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: Yeah. So that's the thing. He's got all these charts.
- 1:44:46Speaker 3: And so he's doing this all himself because there's probably
- 1:44:49Speaker 3: no one that could teach him this stuff because he's
- 1:44:52Speaker 3: probably at the top of the food chain with this.
- 1:44:55Speaker 1: Yeah. Wow. Yeah, he's a gift to have come around.
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: We love we love that, We love that we've kind
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: of got him because uh oh.
- 1:45:06Speaker 3: I'm sure, because when you get a freak like that,
- 1:45:09Speaker 3: like out of nowhere, what is he doing here?
- 1:45:13Speaker 1: All right? So he's working his curls and he's adding
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: resistance through the elastic, so you can see he's this
- 1:45:19Speaker 1: is not a climber exercise. I don't think anymore. He's
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: really switching, you know. I think I think he's got
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: the bug.
- 1:45:26Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, Wow.
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: It won't be long. It won't be long. He'll be
- 1:45:33Speaker 1: at East versus West for a seventy kilo world title.
- 1:45:35Speaker 3: Well, it's such an enormous advantage to have these fucking
- 1:45:39Speaker 3: gigantic forearms and insane strength, and it's just so weird
- 1:45:44Speaker 3: that you could get these guys that are so physically
- 1:45:47Speaker 3: small that are so damn strong. Like when Magnus was
- 1:45:50Speaker 3: doing Rose, You're like, where's the force coming from? You
- 1:45:54Speaker 3: have one hundred and fifty pound, one hundred and sixty
- 1:45:56Speaker 3: pound body and you're doing these one hundred and eighty
- 1:45:59Speaker 3: pounds angle arm rows, Like, where's the force coming from?
- 1:46:03Speaker 3: Like where's the Is it a tendon strength? Is it?
- 1:46:07Speaker 3: Where's the tissue? Right? Like you look at Eddie Hall,
- 1:46:10Speaker 3: You're like, okay, that makes sense that that guy could
- 1:46:11Speaker 3: lift that much weights.
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: Massive.
- 1:46:13Speaker 3: Yeah, this guy's not massive. If you saw him in
- 1:46:16Speaker 3: a T shirt, you wouldn't even unless you looked at
- 1:46:18Speaker 3: his forearms, you wouldn't even think it was strong. He
- 1:46:20Speaker 3: would say, Oh, it probably runs or something. Looks like
- 1:46:23Speaker 3: a normal guy that's spit. It doesn't look like a
- 1:46:26Speaker 3: guy who can do one hundred and eighty pound one
- 1:46:28Speaker 3: arm rows? So what what is that? How do you
- 1:46:31Speaker 3: do that? Where's it coming from?
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: Yeah? I think that for I think that arm wrestlers, climbers,
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: a lot of athletes, fighters too. They start to recognize
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: the value of the hand. You know, a lot of
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: guys you know in the in the communities, like strong man, powerlifting,
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: other strength disciplines, they get immense strength through their body,
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: through their shoulders in different parts that by the time
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: it goes through the chain, through the elbow, through the wrist,
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: and through the fingers, only a small portion of that
- 1:47:05Speaker 1: is able to get managed.
- 1:47:06Speaker 3: Right. I see that with guys when they work out
- 1:47:09Speaker 3: with straps. I've never used straps right because to me,
- 1:47:12Speaker 3: with jiu jitsus grip is so important. I never wanted
- 1:47:15Speaker 3: to rely only on my muscles and not have a
- 1:47:17Speaker 3: strong grip, Like it didn't make any sense to me.
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: In so many functional things, the hand is the shortcoming.
- 1:47:24Speaker 3: Or the feet or the feet.
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:47:26Speaker 3: I talked to Nick Curson once, who's a strength and
- 1:47:29Speaker 3: conditioning trainer, and I said, what do you think is
- 1:47:31Speaker 3: like the number one thing that fighters lack on? He
- 1:47:35Speaker 3: said foot strength? Yeah, I said foot strength. He goes, Yeah,
- 1:47:38Speaker 3: foot strength, he goes. Once it foot strength breaks down,
- 1:47:41Speaker 3: everything breaks down. Your movement breaks down, your power breaks down,
- 1:47:44Speaker 3: your ability to get out of the way of things,
- 1:47:46Speaker 3: the ability to close the distance. Yeah, yeah, the grip strength,
- 1:47:50Speaker 3: what did he get? Oh, that's crazy. I got more
- 1:47:54Speaker 3: than him. Yeah, that's crazy, but that makes sense. I'm
- 1:47:58Speaker 3: two hundred pounds, right.
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: But it's it's it's a chain and grip is a
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: part of the functional hand chain, right, you know.
- 1:48:07Speaker 3: But it's clearly he's way stronger than me with rose.
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: The interesting thing with grip is grip is only a
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: small part of control. All this guy what's that guy's name,
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: he's he's actually the best Andre right, he's actually the
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: best climber in the world right.
- 1:48:25Speaker 3: Now, one sixty one, same thing, Okay, that's crazy. Yeah,
- 1:48:30Speaker 3: Derek Lewis got to eighteen. Derek Luis, the guy who
- 1:48:33Speaker 3: fights in the UFC, And he did it casually. He
- 1:48:36Speaker 3: just I mean, Derek's got giant pause like Catchersmith pause. Yeah,
- 1:48:41Speaker 3: and he he pulled to eighteen. He got higher than
- 1:48:43Speaker 3: anybody and it didn't even look at he was trying.
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: The guy I just arm wrestled, I think had the
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: world record for some time, Fatally l Lettin.
- 1:48:50Speaker 3: What was that.
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: I don't know what the number is it was, but
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: I know he had the world record, Fatally Laltin. He
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: So I'm actually not big on grip. I'm not really,
- 1:49:00Speaker 1: I'm not, but most people are.
- 1:49:02Speaker 3: There's a guy that I follow on Instagram, Jamie pull
- 1:49:05Speaker 3: him up. His name is Michael Eckert and three.
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: Fifty one boom? Is that batally? Yeah?
- 1:49:11Speaker 3: Yeah, my god.
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: So listen, so listen. So mine is probably like seventy pounds,
- 1:49:18Speaker 1: but I beat him. Wait a minute, you no, no, no,
- 1:49:21Speaker 1: it's terrible. No, no, I'm crippled.
- 1:49:23Speaker 3: Shut the ftality. There's no way squeeze strong. Yeah no,
- 1:49:28Speaker 3: you probably it's literally not possible.
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: I'm telling this guy. Yeah, he's like six', nine like
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: he's about Three. Yeah, yeah that is so.
- 1:49:37Speaker 3: Crazy one hundred and fifty four kilograms is so. Bananas,
- 1:49:41Speaker 3: yeah that's so. Strong you can only do Seventy that
- 1:49:44Speaker 3: doesn't make any.
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: Sense WHEN i was, YOUNGER i could do like eight
- 1:49:47Speaker 1: or nine reps of the number three captains Of.
- 1:49:50Speaker 3: Crush SO i could do this sucker here on the,
- 1:49:53Speaker 3: table is? It, YEAH i don't know. What, yeah you tell.
- 1:49:56Speaker 3: Me oh, god two hundred.
- 1:49:59Speaker 1: Pounds so they this isn't a cap in The. Crush
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: this is.
- 1:50:01Speaker 3: A i think it. Is it's. Not they just have
- 1:50:05Speaker 3: a number on.
- 1:50:06Speaker 1: Them you can't do, It joe. CAN'T i can't do.
- 1:50:08Speaker 3: IT i do that all day.
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: Long, man you should come and arm wrestle with.
- 1:50:13Speaker 3: Us, NO i could beat.
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: People grip is, Interesting. Okay grip is a part of,
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: control but so much of the control through your hand
- 1:50:23Speaker 1: has to do with the ability to control the. Angles you,
- 1:50:26Speaker 1: know can you control this, way this, way this, way this?
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: Way you? Know can you? Spin you? Know the grip
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: is like the final inflection. Point it's the final piece
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: to add.
- 1:50:36Speaker 3: Right, yeah, WELL i understand that it's not. Everything it's
- 1:50:39Speaker 3: the thing That i've been obsessed with lately Because i'm
- 1:50:41Speaker 3: not strong at.
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: It grip's.
- 1:50:42Speaker 3: Beautiful so this one sixty two? Kilogram, yes, Geez AND
- 1:50:47Speaker 3: i just Guy Michael eckert On. Instagram he's a guy
- 1:50:51Speaker 3: THAT i, follow and he has all these grip strength.
- 1:50:54Speaker 3: Tutorials he's a, marine AND i guess that's a. Stranger that's,
- 1:50:57Speaker 3: him and he could do two. Twenty and he doesn't
- 1:51:00Speaker 3: look like a very big guy, either but he does
- 1:51:02Speaker 3: like crazy one arm pull ups and he has massive.
- 1:51:05Speaker 3: Forums but, like look at his thing right, there there's
- 1:51:10Speaker 3: a thing below. It you see numbers there it, Is,
- 1:51:14Speaker 3: oh so this is what he's. Lifting this is he's
- 1:51:17Speaker 3: doing this for chin. Ups but he has the grip strength.
- 1:51:22Speaker 3: Thing the really good one is the one that has neuraled.
- 1:51:25Speaker 3: Metal it has very little play in it and so
- 1:51:28Speaker 3: you get a real accurate he, said it's the most
- 1:51:31Speaker 3: accurate one of all, them that one right. There see
- 1:51:34Speaker 3: what says one to, Nineteen SO i think that's one
- 1:51:37Speaker 3: nineteen kilograms and it's going to get, yeah what is
- 1:51:47Speaker 3: that two sixty? Two so he could do two sixty
- 1:51:50Speaker 3: Two and he's not a very big. Guy so he
- 1:51:53Speaker 3: does one hundred pounds more than. Me and he's not
- 1:51:56Speaker 3: a big. Guy, YEAH i mean when you're looking at,
- 1:51:59Speaker 3: him but he as crazy like chin up stuff to fifty.
- 1:52:04Speaker 3: Six that's fucking. Nuts so his It's Michael eckert l
- 1:52:12Speaker 3: ella kart No ekert e e c k e r
- 1:52:17Speaker 3: t e C k e R. T so It's Michael
- 1:52:20Speaker 3: eckert underscore fit On, instagram and this guy's turned me
- 1:52:25Speaker 3: onto a bunch of, stuff told me stuff to get
- 1:52:27Speaker 3: and what to work out. With by Just i'm blown
- 1:52:30Speaker 3: away BECAUSE i look at him AND i, go, well

- 1:52:45Speaker 3: boy he's Really that Makes if that guy pulled two sixty,
- 1:52:51Speaker 3: TWO i, go, okay that makes. Sense BUT i look
- 1:52:53Speaker 3: At michael And i'm like that he's not the biggest
- 1:52:55Speaker 3: guy in the, world but he does so much gripstruff.

- 1:53:26Speaker 1: our sport they all add.
- 1:53:28Speaker 3: Together his hands they don't even look, real and he's
- 1:53:36Speaker 3: open about all the sauce that he's. On he's on.
- 1:53:38Speaker 3: EVERYTHING i, mean someone who was in here that was
- 1:53:42Speaker 3: explaining how much growth hormone he.
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: TAKES i heard he debunked. That oh, REALLY i saw
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: a video where he said it wasn't. True BUT i
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: have no.
- 1:53:51Speaker 3: Idea that he wasn't taking that. MUCH i mean someone
- 1:53:54Speaker 3: was saying he was taking something some crazy thing like
- 1:53:57Speaker 3: ten units of growth a. Day, NO i heard a,
- 1:54:00Speaker 3: hundred one hundred. Units it was, like, well that doesn't
- 1:54:03Speaker 3: even make. Right that seems like you would just, grow
- 1:54:05Speaker 3: it'll just become a. Giant like that's like a pituitary. Disorder,
- 1:54:09Speaker 3: right more than, right because that's what you're. Getting it's a.
- 1:54:12Speaker 3: Lot he clearly he's done a bunch of, stuff. THOUGH i,
- 1:54:16Speaker 3: mean if you see him when he was, younger he
- 1:54:17Speaker 3: looked like a normal.
- 1:54:18Speaker 1: ATHLETE i never saw him. NORMAL i Mean i've been
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: following him for probably like six or seven. Years, YEAH
- 1:54:24Speaker 1: i MEAN i think the first TIME i saw, him
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: he was doing chin ups with like two hundred and
- 1:54:27Speaker 1: fifty pounds strap to, him you, KNOW i think that's
- 1:54:31Speaker 1: the first TIME i saw.
- 1:54:31Speaker 3: Him he not no. Fuckings so it's a left size

- 1:54:41Speaker 1: not a normal seventeen year.
- 1:54:42Speaker 3: Old, no, Clearly yeah he's pretty. Jacked but that makes,
- 1:54:46Speaker 3: Sense like that guy on the left makes, Sense Like
- 1:54:49Speaker 3: i've seen guys like, that but, yeah it's not.
- 1:54:51Speaker 1: Seventeen, no but people.
- 1:54:52Speaker 3: Go to that photo. Again but the guy on the,
- 1:54:54Speaker 3: right he looks like The Incredible, Hulk like he looks
- 1:54:58Speaker 3: like a. Superhero like it doesn't look like a real human.
- 1:55:00Speaker 3: Being like the size of his, forearms the size of his,
- 1:55:04Speaker 3: biceps that doesn't look like a regular human. Being it
- 1:55:07Speaker 3: looks like a complete freak of nature or.
- 1:55:10Speaker 1: Science and he's training for arm.
- 1:55:11Speaker 3: WRESTLING i could only.
- 1:55:13Speaker 1: Imagine so he's, like if you follow his insta or,
- 1:55:16Speaker 1: whatever he's doing the arm wrestling, lifts like the pronation
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: and his lifting is already at a level of like world.
- 1:55:24Speaker 3: War to his. Instagram please it's his.

- 1:55:31Speaker 3: he get taken? DOWN i don't.
- 1:55:32Speaker 1: KNOW i don't, know BUT i heard it was taken.
- 1:55:35Speaker 1: Down but he does have a new, one whether it's
- 1:55:37Speaker 1: his or it's a fan. ONE i, KNOW i just
- 1:55:39Speaker 1: saw it.
- 1:55:39Speaker 3: Yesterday why would they take down his? Instagram?
- 1:55:42Speaker 1: Yeah the only ONE i could find is like smy
- 1:55:45Speaker 1: of official and it's twenty seven weeks.

- 1:55:58Speaker 3: Lifts what the? Fuck what is? Wrong why would they
- 1:56:01Speaker 3: take this guy's instagram down.
- 1:56:04Speaker 1: Because he's inspiring people to turn into? Monsters do you
- 1:56:08Speaker 1: think that's what it? IS i don't, KNOW i don't.
- 1:56:10Speaker 1: Know this is What i'm talking about. Now this is
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: a much more normal like for arm. Wrestling this is
- 1:56:17Speaker 1: actually more functional than anything through the. GRIP i.
- 1:56:20Speaker 3: Think so this is all pronation turning the wrist lifting
- 1:56:25Speaker 3: in same.
- 1:56:25Speaker 1: Weight, yeah and just based off of that information THAT
- 1:56:29Speaker 1: i see, THERE i already.
- 1:56:30Speaker 3: Know click on that one that you got your yeah
- 1:56:33Speaker 3: fucking size of this. Guy yeah that it's so crazy explosive. Jumps.
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: Yeah and the crazy thing about him is he's not
- 1:56:43Speaker 1: competing in, anything, Right BUT i think that this is
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: a guy who's just gonna show, up whether it's in.
- 1:56:51Speaker 1: Anything pick he gets to, pick and he's probably gonna
- 1:56:55Speaker 1: show up at like a world level.
- 1:56:58Speaker 3: Look anything like What, Besides i'd.
- 1:57:00Speaker 1: Say, anything whether, powerlifting, right strong, Man i'd be terrified
- 1:57:06Speaker 1: if he even got to like blue, Belt oh my,
- 1:57:08Speaker 1: god like what are you gonna?
- 1:57:09Speaker 3: Do what are you gonna? Do how much is you?
- 1:57:11Speaker 3: WEIGH i like like three forty and preposterous? Strength like, yeah,
- 1:57:16Speaker 3: strength you. Know Mark coleman always just say that strength
- 1:57:19Speaker 3: is a, skill and there's something to, that because if
- 1:57:22Speaker 3: you are that, strong there's only so much you could
- 1:57:25Speaker 3: do with that guy's. Body, yeah especially if he developed
- 1:57:27Speaker 3: actual skills and understanding of leverage, positions.
- 1:57:31Speaker 1: Even just the base movement patterns that are fifty two Lead,
- 1:57:36Speaker 1: jesus he was supposed to. Pull there was a proposal
- 1:57:40Speaker 1: for him to. Pull one of our guys Called Leonidas.
- 1:57:43Speaker 3: Arcona he was a great.
- 1:57:44Speaker 1: Name, yeah it's A german. Guy he just competed Against Brian,

- 1:58:11Speaker 1: Crazy yeah, right and nobody's got a star and gripped
- 1:58:14Speaker 1: And brian. Either brian's grip is completely.
- 1:58:16Speaker 3: Wild but seeing someone Beat Brian shaw in anything physical seems.
- 1:58:20Speaker 3: Ridiculous it doesn't even make. Sense how much does this guy?
- 1:58:23Speaker 1: Way he's like two eighty five when he's in good,
- 1:58:26Speaker 1: shape but, again stupid. Strength he's like a bodybuilder slash arm.
- 1:58:32Speaker 1: Wrestler he's not. Picture, yeah he's been in this.
- 1:58:39Speaker 3: Sport, like oh my, god he's gonna crol a.
- 1:58:41Speaker 1: Dude yeah, yeah crazy, Strength oh my, god he's, massive.
- 1:58:47Speaker 3: MASSIVE i just can't believe that he Beat Brian. Shaw
- 1:58:50Speaker 3: that is.
- 1:58:51Speaker 1: Nuts and that's where skill comes in.
- 1:58:53Speaker 3: Because Brian shaw is one hundred pounds heavier than.
- 1:58:55Speaker 1: Him, yeah but it's it's, levels you, Know like and
- 1:58:58Speaker 1: that's the, thing like arm wrestling enough technique to. It
- 1:59:01Speaker 1: it's not just how strong you.
- 1:59:02Speaker 3: Are look at.
- 1:59:03Speaker 1: It you can look at. Me, Okay i'm not on
- 1:59:06Speaker 1: any of these guys'. Levels they're all stronger than. Me
- 1:59:09Speaker 1: But i'm the number two in the world in the open.
- 1:59:10Speaker 1: Division everybody in the top fifty is stronger than, me you,
- 1:59:15Speaker 1: know but there's a there's a high.
- 1:59:16Speaker 3: Degree that's a great. Picture, wow that is. Crazy this
- 1:59:21Speaker 3: size difference is so.
- 1:59:22Speaker 1: Massive But i'll tell You brian probably has a higher
- 1:59:26Speaker 1: potential Than. Leonidas brian's been armress in less than.
- 1:59:29Speaker 3: Two, years right and le AND i has been armressing
- 1:59:32Speaker 3: now Five. Okay, yeah so there's a lot of technique to.
- 1:59:35Speaker 1: Us this is a ton of technique and a lot of.
- 1:59:37Speaker 3: Just, repetition understanding the, positions where to, go what to,
- 1:59:41Speaker 3: do how to.
- 1:59:41Speaker 1: Hold, yeah miniature martial.
- 1:59:44Speaker 3: Art. Interesting it makes sense because there's some people that
- 1:59:48Speaker 3: are not, that Like Marcello garcia for, instance not a
- 1:59:51Speaker 3: physically imposing, guy has the craziest. Squeeze like there's something
- 1:59:56Speaker 3: about a, squeeze like learning a position over and over
- 1:59:59Speaker 3: and over, again fine tuning. It that's what's interesting about
- 2:00:04Speaker 3: power in. General it's like the repetition of movement creates more.
- 2:00:08Speaker 3: Power and some of it is, genetic but some of
- 2:00:11Speaker 3: it is also just fine tuning that motion to just
- 2:00:16Speaker 3: this like perfect chain of energy from the floor to the.
- 2:00:20Speaker 1: Strike and it's and it's two of, us you, know
- 2:00:24Speaker 1: and it's that. Interaction it's what you're doing What i'm, doing.
- 2:00:27Speaker 3: And the more you're doing, it the more you understand
- 2:00:29Speaker 3: what to do and when to do it and what's
- 2:00:31Speaker 3: happening and how to counter it and when to, push
- 2:00:34Speaker 3: when to, pull when to hit the.
- 2:00:36Speaker 1: Gas and somebody's leading the dance and someone's, following and
- 2:00:41Speaker 1: the efficiency just changes very, quickly and before you know,
- 2:00:44Speaker 1: what you're gassed.
- 2:00:44Speaker 3: Out i'm sure you're aware of that guy In australia
- 2:00:47Speaker 3: That Tom hal's an who's doing this stuff in his
- 2:00:54Speaker 3: backyard with a fucking shirt on and jeans and work
- 2:00:57Speaker 3: boots and all the images most of them are just
- 2:01:00Speaker 3: his Back, yeah.
- 2:01:02Speaker 1: Awesome it's just he's another. One he's another one of
- 2:01:05Speaker 1: these strength giants that lives out there that everybody kind
- 2:01:08Speaker 1: of wants to pull. IN i Message tom every once
- 2:01:11Speaker 1: in a, while, like, dude when are you coming in arm?
- 2:01:13Speaker 3: Wrestling when are you coming? In and what do you?
- 2:01:15Speaker 1: Say i'm, Optimistic i'm. Optimistic what is he?
- 2:01:19Speaker 3: INTERESTED i think? So. Well he's also crazy lean, too
- 2:01:23Speaker 3: which is really.
- 2:01:24Speaker 1: Weird he's a strange.
- 2:01:25Speaker 3: Character, oh the strangest because like this is most of
- 2:01:28Speaker 3: his images or his back, yeah WHICH i don't understand
- 2:01:32Speaker 3: why he's doing.
- 2:01:32Speaker 1: That, WELL i had the theory that he was ansf,
- 2:01:35Speaker 1: guy you, KNOW i had the theory that he belongs
- 2:01:38Speaker 1: to some organization that requires him to be.
- 2:01:41Speaker 3: Discreet but there are photos of, Him, yeah not, many,
- 2:01:45Speaker 3: there's but there's plenty where you could see his.
- 2:01:47Speaker 1: Face, yes but he doesn't go around broadcasting it too,
- 2:01:50Speaker 1: much does. HE i don't, know look AT i don't
- 2:01:52Speaker 1: know what he. Is i've asked and guys say he's.
- 2:01:54Speaker 1: NOT i don't know what the deal. Is but for whatever,
- 2:01:57Speaker 1: reason and he could, right this is a guy who
- 2:02:00Speaker 1: could probably again go to any one of the strength
- 2:02:02Speaker 1: disciplines and.
- 2:02:03Speaker 3: Compete, yeah because he's almost four hundred. Pounds he's six foot, Eight,
- 2:02:08Speaker 3: yeah and fucking. Shredded see if you can find some
- 2:02:13Speaker 3: of the. Images there are images on this page of
- 2:02:15Speaker 3: him with his shirt off doing stuff where he's like
- 2:02:17Speaker 3: walking with you, know doing like farmer carries. There so
- 2:02:22Speaker 3: there's some images of him with his shirt. Off, yeah
- 2:02:24Speaker 3: like there he.
- 2:02:24Speaker 1: Is, Yeah, yeah he's he's a he's A Brian shaw.
- 2:02:29Speaker 1: Type he's a he's A smaiev, type you, know just
- 2:02:32Speaker 1: where the baseline level of, strength.
- 2:02:34Speaker 3: But looks more athletic than those guys do you know
- 2:02:38Speaker 3: What i'm, Saying like it's he's not as. Massive he's,
- 2:02:42Speaker 3: massive but he looks massive in a more mobile. Way
- 2:02:46Speaker 3: do you know What i'm. SAYING i.
- 2:02:48Speaker 1: Do but you, Know Brian shaw one strong man and
- 2:02:51Speaker 1: like there's a lot of athleticism and strong.
- 2:02:53Speaker 3: Man oh for, Sure i'm not saying there's. NOT i,
- 2:02:56Speaker 3: mean But Brian shaw looks like an. Ape he looks
- 2:02:59Speaker 3: like a giant, ape whereas this guy looks like a super.
- 2:03:02Speaker 3: Athlete he looks like like that image of him with
- 2:03:05Speaker 3: his shirt off on the far, right like he's. Shredded,
- 2:03:08Speaker 3: yeah it looks, different, yeah, yeah, Yeah and it seems
- 2:03:13Speaker 3: like he's just working on his. Strength he's just like. Constantly,
- 2:03:18Speaker 3: yeah look at his fucking forum, Muscles, like, yeah what
- 2:03:22Speaker 3: the fuck is going on with the top of the
- 2:03:24Speaker 3: forum where it meets the? Bias what the fuck is?
- 2:03:27Speaker 1: That? Tom if you're watching, this come To east Versus, west,
- 2:03:30Speaker 1: Buddy we love, You we love.
- 2:03:31Speaker 3: You has he ever done? Anything yea an arm?
- 2:03:33Speaker 1: Wrestling YEAH i know he has because so down In,
- 2:03:36Speaker 1: australia the president, There Phil, rasmussen he's good friends with,
- 2:03:41Speaker 1: him AND i know that they're arm wrestling a little
- 2:03:44Speaker 1: bit but, yeah there's something with him where he doesn't
- 2:03:46Speaker 1: kind of he doesn't want to kind of show. UP i,
- 2:03:48Speaker 1: THINK i don't know what it is with some of
- 2:03:49Speaker 1: these people where they they have this amazing, ability but
- 2:03:54Speaker 1: they don't really. Pop you. Know do you know Who
- 2:03:57Speaker 1: Eric spotto? Is, No Eric spotto's a guy out Of.
- 2:04:00Speaker 1: Vegas former number one in the world bench. Guy, okay
- 2:04:05Speaker 1: like he broke the world record for Bench, okay but
- 2:04:08Speaker 1: he didn't go to a powerlifting meet until he could
- 2:04:10Speaker 1: break the. Record he didn't even show, up just showed
- 2:04:14Speaker 1: up and he beat the world, right he was doing
- 2:04:15Speaker 1: the world record in his. Basement, Wow and everybody's, like you, Know,
- 2:04:20Speaker 1: eric why don't you go and make it? Legit you?
- 2:04:22Speaker 1: Know but these guys exist out, there these guys in
- 2:04:25Speaker 1: their basements or wherever they're, living and they and, they
- 2:04:28Speaker 1: for whatever, reason they don't show up until they're the. Best, Yeah,
- 2:04:34Speaker 1: eric this. Guy, yeah and he's an amazing arm wrestler,
- 2:04:38Speaker 1: too same theory, though like it was hard to get
- 2:04:41Speaker 1: him into, competition BUT i personally know that he's like
- 2:04:44Speaker 1: one of the strongest arm, wrestlers but he doesn't, compete doesn't. Compete, yeah, yeah,
- 2:04:52Speaker 1: yeah strength is. Amazing, man it's fun to chase.
- 2:04:55Speaker 3: Strength it's not everything in your sport, though which is.
- 2:04:59Speaker 1: Interesting, yeah strength, Combat so we're a combat sport that
- 2:05:03Speaker 1: relies heavily on.
- 2:05:04Speaker 3: Strength, yeah it's interesting that you consider it a combat.
- 2:05:07Speaker 3: Sport combat? Sport why? So because it's not applicable to real?
- 2:05:12Speaker 3: Fighting so why do you call it a combat?
- 2:05:14Speaker 1: SPORT i mean real fighting is hard to define, ANYWAYS
- 2:05:16Speaker 1: i mean is. It, well there's, levels you, know there's
- 2:05:20Speaker 1: levels of real. FIGHTING i mean what we look.
- 2:05:22Speaker 3: AT i LOVE.
- 2:05:23Speaker 1: Ufc it's. Cool but we invented guns long, ago you, know.
- 2:05:26Speaker 3: Of, Course but that's not a. SPORT i mean it
- 2:05:30Speaker 3: is a sport in terms of like being able to
- 2:05:31Speaker 3: shoot accurately and stuff like. That but you're using an external,
- 2:05:35Speaker 3: device using a weapon right with your physical body combat.
- 2:05:39Speaker 3: Sports why would you consider arm wrestling to be a combat?
- 2:05:42Speaker 1: Sport, well because it's between two people and there's so
- 2:05:49Speaker 1: much interplay and you, know there's not the rigidity of
- 2:05:55Speaker 1: a lot of sports that measure. Strength, okay it's very much, adjustment, adaption,
- 2:06:02Speaker 1: uh decision, making a lot of, games a lot of
- 2:06:06Speaker 1: a lot of, technique a lot of. Adaptation. Uh you
- 2:06:10Speaker 1: can be super. Strong but if you can't, adapt if
- 2:06:12Speaker 1: you can't, think if you can't, speak if you can't, play,
- 2:06:16Speaker 1: yeah you're gonna in that.
- 2:06:17Speaker 3: Sense do you consider football combat?
- 2:06:19Speaker 1: Sport?
- 2:06:19Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, yeah.
- 2:06:21Speaker 1: There's there's two sides and your fighting it's. Metaphor, okay
- 2:06:24Speaker 1: look at all this. STUFF i love THE, ufc BUT
- 2:06:28Speaker 1: i consider it a combat. Sport you, know, well it
- 2:06:31Speaker 1: definitely probably one of the best examples Of but IF
- 2:06:37Speaker 1: i was gonna put together like you, know the ultimate
- 2:06:40Speaker 1: like you, know we're going to take out like like
- 2:06:44Speaker 1: if we're going to go to war against another nation or,
- 2:06:46Speaker 1: whatever you, know, yeah for, Sure i'm looking AT usc you.
- 2:06:48Speaker 1: Guys for, Sure i'm looking at football, guys you, know
- 2:06:51Speaker 1: looking at whoever can get the job. Done and there's
- 2:06:55Speaker 1: a lot of pieces to.
- 2:06:56Speaker 3: That, well that's. DIFFERENT i mean you're, look if they're
- 2:06:58Speaker 3: going to war with just only using your, body that's one.
- 2:07:02Speaker 3: Thing but you, know obviously with war the weapons rule above.
- 2:07:06Speaker 1: All. Absolutely, YEAH i think that that's where we're at these.
- 2:07:09Speaker 3: Days so, well now we're with thumbs because now it's basically. Drone,
- 2:07:14Speaker 3: yeah you, know, YEAH i mean that's the you're gonna
- 2:07:17Speaker 3: get to a point soon where human beings are.
- 2:07:20Speaker 1: Going to be a. Rolevant so when it comes to,
- 2:07:22Speaker 1: sport arm wrestling is fall for. Me it falls into
- 2:07:27Speaker 1: that combat, sector you, know where two people are engaging
- 2:07:31Speaker 1: in a, fight a metaphorical fight against each.
- 2:07:34Speaker 3: OTHER i get.
- 2:07:35Speaker 1: It, yeah, yeah. YOU'LL i mean if it wasn't a combat,
- 2:07:41Speaker 1: sport then the stronger guy would normally, win and it normally.
- 2:07:45Speaker 1: Does but as soon as YOU i can get like
- 2:07:48Speaker 1: IF i could get like a guy who's been practicing
- 2:07:50Speaker 1: arm wrestling for like four or five, years they'll beat,
- 2:07:52Speaker 1: anybody anybody that's not. Practicing it's the same thing as like.
- 2:07:57Speaker 3: A jiu jitsu.
- 2:07:58Speaker 1: Guy if you if you give a jiu jitsu guy
- 2:08:00Speaker 1: like four or five years on the mat and you
- 2:08:02Speaker 1: Get Brian shaw or like some giant come, in who's gonna?
- 2:08:06Speaker 3: Win it really. DEPENDS i could Teach Brian shaw a
- 2:08:11Speaker 3: few things real of, course you could get, strength.
- 2:08:14Speaker 1: And Brian shaw is an extreme. Example, yeah someone your.
- 2:08:18Speaker 3: Size, yeah it's like size to side of the sizes. Commensurate,
- 2:08:22Speaker 3: yeah the person who's, Trained, yeah they're gonna win every.
- 2:08:24Speaker 3: Time and small people dominate big people all the.
- 2:08:27Speaker 1: Time, right because it's that, technical it's skill.
- 2:08:31Speaker 3: Based it's just it's also, repetition under understanding the, positions understanding,
- 2:08:36Speaker 3: mistakes understanding you, know knowing where to be and what to,
- 2:08:39Speaker 3: do how to, flow how to move with, someone so
- 2:08:41Speaker 3: you're not just going strength for strength against, Them you're
- 2:08:44Speaker 3: you're flowing with.
- 2:08:45Speaker 1: THEM i THINK i think of it as a combat
- 2:08:48Speaker 1: sport as, well BECAUSE i try and make it that, way.
- 2:08:51Speaker 3: Right, well you definitely, do and you definitely make it
- 2:08:53Speaker 3: like PSYCHOLOGICALLY i.
- 2:08:55Speaker 1: Try, YEAH i try and pull all that stuff.
- 2:08:57Speaker 3: In but you have an extensive military experience, too like
- 2:09:01Speaker 3: you started off like when what what is The canadian
- 2:09:04Speaker 3: version of what you would what branch the military you were.
- 2:09:07Speaker 1: IN i was with a unit CALLED jtf two for
- 2:09:11Speaker 1: sixteen out of my twenty. Years yeah it was. Great
- 2:09:15Speaker 1: i'd still be there IF i, could, really but it
- 2:09:18Speaker 1: got too complicated AND i had to. Leave but, yeah
- 2:09:22Speaker 1: so what do you mean it? Was you, KNOW i
- 2:09:25Speaker 1: don't want to say it was entirely one thing or,
- 2:09:27Speaker 1: another but it really probably had a lot to do
- 2:09:30Speaker 1: with arm wrestling and the visibility of arm. Wrestling Like
- 2:09:33Speaker 1: i've been our wrestling my whole, life But jesus was.
- 2:09:36Speaker 1: NINETEEN i Think i'm sorry. Nineteen it was two thousand and,
- 2:09:41Speaker 1: fourteen and we were ON espn at the, time and
- 2:09:46Speaker 1: up to that, POINT i was not declared military in
- 2:09:49Speaker 1: the public, eye LIKE i was a farmer as far
- 2:09:52Speaker 1: as everybody was. Concerned you, KNOW i tried to play
- 2:09:55Speaker 1: the operational security as well AS i, could and you,
- 2:09:59Speaker 1: KNOW i was an, active ACTIVE jtf two. Member but
- 2:10:04Speaker 1: there were a lot of concerns about the growth of
- 2:10:06Speaker 1: arm wrestling for me and my you, know exposure and you,
- 2:10:11Speaker 1: know part of being an operator.
- 2:10:12Speaker 3: Is you, know you have to you have to be.
- 2:10:15Speaker 1: Anonymous you get on an, airplane you can't have people
- 2:10:17Speaker 1: taking pictures of, you and, right so arm wrestling because
- 2:10:21Speaker 1: of WHERE i was and it was ON espn and going,
- 2:10:24Speaker 1: Further they're, Like, devin you have to. Choose And i'm,
- 2:10:26Speaker 1: like oh my, God i'm an armist myself as a.
- 2:10:28Speaker 1: Kid so the long and short of that is they
- 2:10:31Speaker 1: offered me a year, off no. PAY i took. IT
- 2:10:35Speaker 1: i took. IT i took the year, off and we
- 2:10:38Speaker 1: WERE i was gathering apples and eating sardines and sending
- 2:10:42Speaker 1: my kids to school with dried, apples and me and
- 2:10:44Speaker 1: my wife were, like oh my, god are we, Crazy,
- 2:10:47Speaker 1: like are we?
- 2:10:48Speaker 3: Crazy just so you try to make it in arm.
- 2:10:50Speaker 3: WRESTLING i was.
- 2:10:51Speaker 1: Complicated, Yeah i'd done like seven tours and it's weird
- 2:11:00Speaker 1: when you do a lot of, tours you, know things
- 2:11:02Speaker 1: start to gray out a little. Bit and everything is
- 2:11:07Speaker 1: about mission in, life right like everything like if you
- 2:11:11Speaker 1: don't have a good, mission your life is going to
- 2:11:13Speaker 1: fall to. Shit and as soon as you start to
- 2:11:19Speaker 1: question any kind of, that and you, know you play
- 2:11:24Speaker 1: in that realm long, enough most guys start to at the.
- 2:11:28Speaker 1: BEGINNING i, mean you're just either so patriotic or you,
- 2:11:32Speaker 1: know just so down to you, know help your country
- 2:11:35Speaker 1: or whatever the people around you that you don't really you're.
- 2:11:39Speaker 1: Undeterred AND i think that probably sometime around that point
- 2:11:44Speaker 1: in my, career MAYBE i was struggling slightly and that
- 2:11:48Speaker 1: combined with the uh them telling me THAT i wasn't
- 2:11:53Speaker 1: able to do something that was like the only THING i,
- 2:11:56Speaker 1: did you know WHEN i left, work was kind of
- 2:12:00Speaker 1: the thing that kind of make me take kind of
- 2:12:03Speaker 1: a stand in my life THAT i was, gonna you,
- 2:12:06Speaker 1: know follow sport instead of. War sport's beautiful sports very
- 2:12:15Speaker 1: clearly building civilization and. War you, know the further you go,
- 2:12:19Speaker 1: in it just gets to a level of murk where
- 2:12:21Speaker 1: you're not. Sure so, yeah so.
- 2:12:24Speaker 3: WHEN i say you're not, sure you're not sure if
- 2:12:26Speaker 3: you should be doing what you're. Doing you're not sure
- 2:12:28Speaker 3: if the mission should be.
- 2:12:29Speaker 1: Happening, yeah BECAUSE i think most people join the military
- 2:12:33Speaker 1: and stay in the military because they genuinely believe that
- 2:12:36Speaker 1: they're benefiting mankind or civilization to some. Degree it's a
- 2:12:40Speaker 1: big part of. It not nobody's there for the, money you.
- 2:12:42Speaker 1: KNOW i mean at the, beginning some people are because we're, broke,
- 2:12:45Speaker 1: Right BUT i mean once you spend like ten, YEARS
- 2:12:48Speaker 1: i mean you're you're probably. Okay and, yeah so it,
- 2:12:52Speaker 1: STARTS i, mean you you play enough in that, world
- 2:12:55Speaker 1: and it starts to get confusing that you're maybe you're
- 2:12:58Speaker 1: not doing the right. Thing so so look AT.
- 2:13:03Speaker 3: I loved my. WORK i thought it was.
- 2:13:05Speaker 1: GREAT i loved all the PEOPLE i worked, with some
- 2:13:07Speaker 1: best people in the. World but, YEAH i came to
- 2:13:10Speaker 1: a point where there was some issues you, know WITH,
- 2:13:15Speaker 1: opsect not even in my, career but in, others and
- 2:13:17Speaker 1: it kind of trickled down into you in a policy
- 2:13:19Speaker 1: and they shut down everybody's extracurricular and, Yeah they're, Like,
- 2:13:23Speaker 1: devin you can't arm wrestle. Anymore And i'm, like oh my,
- 2:13:26Speaker 1: God i'm a current world, Champion LIKE i am currently
- 2:13:29Speaker 1: the open world, champion and you're telling ME i can't do.
- 2:13:32Speaker 1: It SO i was, like, yeah we're gonna have to
- 2:13:35Speaker 1: come up with some other. Solution they're, like, yeah, okay
- 2:13:37Speaker 1: years leave without. Pay here's your final. Offer so we took,
- 2:13:40Speaker 1: it and my wife AND i were, like oh my.
- 2:13:42Speaker 1: God so, yeah SO i went from making MONEY i
- 2:13:46Speaker 1: had AND i didn't. Come we didn't have. Money you, know,
- 2:13:51Speaker 1: YEAH i getting, buy but it meant that on that,
- 2:13:54Speaker 1: YEAR i like had to. Win it was no longer
- 2:13:57Speaker 1: like my. Hobby it was like IF i don't when
- 2:14:00Speaker 1: like my kids are like, Not i'm gonna have to
- 2:14:03Speaker 1: sell the house or Like i'm gonna have to do the.
- 2:14:06Speaker 1: Gamble it worked. Out what was that?
- 2:14:10Speaker 3: Stress, lin? Dude how old were you at the?
- 2:14:13Speaker 1: Time Was, okay that was twenty, fourteen so i'd be thirty.
- 2:14:17Speaker 3: Nine oh, wow yeah so you're already older as an.
- 2:14:20Speaker 3: Athlete yeah, yeah.
- 2:14:22Speaker 1: Wow. Yeah it was totally. TRIPPY i remember being so stressed.
- 2:14:27Speaker 3: OUT i.
- 2:14:28Speaker 1: WAS i was so it was it was a wal Finals,
- 2:14:32Speaker 1: OKAY i was in the two to twenty five pound,
- 2:14:33Speaker 1: division twenty thousand bucks for first place right, hand left,
- 2:14:38Speaker 1: hand and AND i had a great. Sponsor, okay they
- 2:14:41Speaker 1: were matching my, pace so ANYTHING i, won they doubled.
- 2:14:45Speaker 1: It and they were doing some other stuff. Too so
- 2:14:47Speaker 1: but but IF i lost, that nothing. Right So I'm
- 2:14:51Speaker 1: i'm in the. Back i'm in the back in the
- 2:14:52Speaker 1: warm up, area And I'm i'm, Breathing i'm getting. Ready
- 2:14:56Speaker 1: i'm going against this, Guy Ron bath in the. Finals and,
- 2:14:59Speaker 1: uh longtime mentor of mine and guys like my older
- 2:15:03Speaker 1: brother's Got Mike gould.
- 2:15:05Speaker 3: Comes over to. Me he's like that.
- 2:15:06Speaker 1: Man he's, like he's like you used to run to
- 2:15:08Speaker 1: practice when you were. Eighteen he's, like you're just here
- 2:15:11Speaker 1: because you love, it don't worry about, it just going have.
- 2:15:13Speaker 1: Fun And i'm, like, okay you're, right you're. Right AND
- 2:15:15Speaker 1: i went out AND i just had fun and worked.
- 2:15:18Speaker 1: Out but, yeah SO i ended UP i ended up
- 2:15:23Speaker 1: doing my years leave without. Pay as soon AS i
- 2:15:25Speaker 1: was taking my, leave they're, like we want you to,
- 2:15:28Speaker 1: declare like we want you to tell people that you're
- 2:15:30Speaker 1: special forces. Now SO i went from me to do
- 2:15:34Speaker 1: that because they pushed me into. Recruiting M. Yeah so
- 2:15:37Speaker 1: WHEN i got, BACK i tried. AGAIN i think they'd
- 2:15:39Speaker 1: already made up their. Mind WHEN i got, Back i'm, like,
- 2:15:43Speaker 1: YEAH i CAN i have my old job. Back and they're,
- 2:15:45Speaker 1: like you're gonna keep arm wrestling And i'm, like, well you,
- 2:15:48Speaker 1: know and they're, like, okay you're going to. Recruiting AND
- 2:15:51Speaker 1: i was On so at that, POINT i was on
- 2:15:54Speaker 1: my nineteenth. Year, okay and you only in The canadian
- 2:16:00Speaker 1: forces at that. Time NOW i think you need twenty,
- 2:16:02Speaker 1: five but twenty years continuous service and you get like
- 2:16:06Speaker 1: a base. Pension SO i did my nineteenth and twentieth.
- 2:16:10Speaker 1: YEAR i went Around canada AND i told people how great.
- 2:16:13Speaker 3: THE jtf was and that was.
- 2:16:15Speaker 1: It that was my career. Done. Wow, yeah now full
- 2:16:18Speaker 1: time armors for the last time ten.
- 2:16:19Speaker 3: Years, yeah what a jump at thirty. Nine, yeah that
- 2:16:24Speaker 3: had to be so fucking nerve. Wracking it.
- 2:16:27Speaker 1: WAS I i, just you, KNOW i thought it was
- 2:16:31Speaker 1: very selfish of. Me you, KNOW i thought THAT i
- 2:16:35Speaker 1: was being very. IRRESPONSIBLE i, thought you, know BECAUSE i
- 2:16:40Speaker 1: really believed in SOLDIERING i, did and you, know to leave,
- 2:16:44Speaker 1: it you, know made me question very much WHETHER i
- 2:16:47Speaker 1: was doing the right thing with my. Life and and
- 2:16:51Speaker 1: then on a family, LEVEL i was, Like i'm being
- 2:16:54Speaker 1: AM i being irresponsible chasing this you, know thing THAT
- 2:16:58Speaker 1: i love to, do and it's costing my, kids you,
- 2:17:01Speaker 1: know their their university. Education it's costing my, kids you.
- 2:17:04Speaker 1: Know but, yeah we we we believed in, it we
- 2:17:09Speaker 1: went for, it and it's all worked. Out it's all worked.
- 2:17:14Speaker 1: OUT i, mean it's been a second life for. ME
- 2:17:20Speaker 1: i still love all the GUYS i work. With some
- 2:17:22Speaker 1: of them are still. Working my, god guys do like
- 2:17:25Speaker 1: thirty year careers And Special. Forces it's. Crazy it's. Crazy,
- 2:17:28Speaker 1: yeah a lot of the guys THAT i went through
- 2:17:30Speaker 1: with there now in senior, positions AND i bump into
- 2:17:33Speaker 1: them every once in a. WHILE i just tell them
- 2:17:36Speaker 1: how MUCH i love them and how great they. Are and,
- 2:17:39Speaker 1: YEAH i live a, civil simple.
- 2:17:42Speaker 3: Life now it's.
- 2:17:43Speaker 1: Beautiful you, Know like before life was very, complicated going on,
- 2:17:48Speaker 1: tours you, know Special forces life is super, complex you,
- 2:17:51Speaker 1: know you're it's it's difficult to. Balance how my wife
- 2:17:54Speaker 1: AND i made it through, THAT i have no. IDEA
- 2:17:56Speaker 1: i have no, idea but we. Did but, yeah now
- 2:18:00Speaker 1: Now i'm at home every, DAY i wake up Unless i'm,
- 2:18:03Speaker 1: on you, know going to some arm wrestling. Tournament it's.
- 2:18:05Speaker 3: Beautiful, WELL i got to think that the discipline that
- 2:18:08Speaker 3: came from that life transferred over to the discipline of
- 2:18:12Speaker 3: becoming a great army.
- 2:18:13Speaker 1: WRESTLER i Think i'm still learning today from my. Career
- 2:18:18Speaker 1: i'm still digesting some of the greatest days and some
- 2:18:22Speaker 1: of the stuff THAT i. Did i'm still integrating it
- 2:18:24Speaker 1: into my. Life, yeah it's a great.
- 2:18:27Speaker 3: Teacher, well you can't, Fail, no you. Can't it's just
- 2:18:32Speaker 3: like the ultimate, consequences the ultimate. Stakes, yeah, yeah, yeah it's.
- 2:18:37Speaker 3: BEAUTIFUL i love the concept of. SOLDIERING i THINK i
- 2:18:41Speaker 3: have it as one of the highest things that you can.
- 2:18:45Speaker 3: Do like there's being a mother and there's being a,
- 2:18:48Speaker 3: fighter you, Know AND i personally have always believed that
- 2:18:52Speaker 3: one of the highest orders of fighters are the guys
- 2:18:54Speaker 3: in the, military you, know THE sf. Guys like it's
- 2:18:57Speaker 3: it's it's it's pretty, awesome.
- 2:19:00Speaker 1: But uh, yeah it's it's. IT'S i try and take
- 2:19:05Speaker 1: all those lessons and bring them into the, sport AND
- 2:19:08Speaker 1: i try to, WELL i try and let that chapter
- 2:19:13Speaker 1: of my, life you, know feed and inspire me.
- 2:19:16Speaker 3: Today do you talk much about your. TOURS i don't a.
- 2:19:21Speaker 1: LOT i it's not that you, know anything matters at this.
- 2:19:27Speaker 1: POINT i, mean it's all like it's all in the,
- 2:19:30Speaker 1: past and you, know there's nothing THAT i could really
- 2:19:32Speaker 1: say now that influences too. Much but, YEAH i don't
- 2:19:36Speaker 1: make it part of my general promotion too. Much but
- 2:19:40Speaker 1: everybody knows THAT i, was you, Know, uh it's a
- 2:19:44Speaker 1: it's a it's a wild time in my. Life you,
- 2:19:46Speaker 1: know it's a huge. Chapter you, know the military, stuff
- 2:19:50Speaker 1: the tours THAT i. Did you, know we we did
- 2:19:53Speaker 1: a lot of work In. Afghanistan so you, know the
- 2:19:56Speaker 1: highlight of my career is working In, kandahar working with
- 2:20:00Speaker 1: The american, forces working with The indage. Forces you, know
- 2:20:03Speaker 1: WE jtf does like counter, terrorism so we're doing. Hits
- 2:20:07Speaker 1: we're doing hits at, night you, know going out and various.
- 2:20:10Speaker 1: Kinds but, yeah it was always funny to me people
- 2:20:14Speaker 1: would because people didn't KNOW i, was you, know. WIDELY i, mean,
- 2:20:18Speaker 1: Oh devin's scared to come to this, tournament you, know
- 2:20:21Speaker 1: AND i was, like, WONDERFUCKER i am in a goddamn
- 2:20:24Speaker 1: war right. NOW I am not scared to go To Nemrov.
- 2:20:29Speaker 3: Cup you. Know but, yeah that's. Funny, yeah it was
- 2:20:34Speaker 3: so funny for.
- 2:20:35Speaker 1: Me i'm, like you have no idea how SCARED i
- 2:20:37Speaker 1: am right now What i'm. Doing you know it war
- 2:20:41Speaker 1: war is a war is a wild. Thing you. Know
- 2:20:45Speaker 1: the degree that it's psychologically affected me, is, uh it's
- 2:20:50Speaker 1: been it's been. Meat you. KNOW i think that a
- 2:20:52Speaker 1: lot of WHO i am was shaped by, combat you,
- 2:20:58Speaker 1: know by the fear and the lacking THAT i, had
- 2:21:05Speaker 1: like the the not being enough to be EVERYTHING i
- 2:21:11Speaker 1: could be in combat shaped me so, much you. Know
- 2:21:17Speaker 1: you know when you go on a tour and there's different,
- 2:21:21Speaker 1: people there's different. Dudes, OKAY i know some dudes who
- 2:21:25Speaker 1: really don't get, scared they really don't like they're like
- 2:21:28Speaker 1: so down for, it like they can't wait to go
- 2:21:31Speaker 1: on the next, mission you. Know AND i was kind
- 2:21:34Speaker 1: of the guy who was like completely scared, shitless BUT
- 2:21:37Speaker 1: i go, anyways you, Know and WHAT i kind of
- 2:21:42Speaker 1: learned to, do WHICH i have a great value, in
- 2:21:47Speaker 1: is kind of the separation of. Myself you, KNOW i
- 2:21:50Speaker 1: am a very different person day to day than WHEN
- 2:21:54Speaker 1: i compete or WHEN, i for, example went and actually
- 2:21:58Speaker 1: did the. Job you, KNOW I i would completely transform my.
- 2:22:01Speaker 1: Character and this is something THAT i. Learned the first
- 2:22:03Speaker 1: tour was. Hard you, know you're a regular dude with
- 2:22:06Speaker 1: a regular brain and a regular mindset doing this terrifying.
- 2:22:09Speaker 1: Thing and then you, know you come back and you
- 2:22:13Speaker 1: know you've seen a lot of shit and you GOT.
- 2:22:15Speaker 1: Ptsd you wake up and your heart's going and it's
- 2:22:19Speaker 1: like an, injury and you can let an injury kill,
- 2:22:23Speaker 1: you or you can heal and develop some kind of
- 2:22:28Speaker 1: resilience to. It AND i think THAT i to some
- 2:22:31Speaker 1: degree did that by learning how to become a different.
- 2:22:36Speaker 1: Person people call it a.
- 2:22:38Speaker 3: Switch you, know.
- 2:22:40Speaker 1: Where you like all your, values the person that you
- 2:22:43Speaker 1: are is. Different you're not the same person when you're
- 2:22:46Speaker 1: out in the field than you are when you're back on.
- 2:22:50Speaker 1: Base AND i created a persona that loved, it looked
- 2:22:56Speaker 1: forward to, it that lusted for, it because that's what
- 2:22:59Speaker 1: you need to be to actually perform.
- 2:23:01Speaker 3: Properly when you say created a, persona what was the? Steps?
- 2:23:05Speaker 3: Like how did you do?
- 2:23:06Speaker 1: That? WELL i think that one of the things is
- 2:23:11Speaker 1: to really wrap your. MIND i think the first step
- 2:23:14Speaker 1: is to wrap your mind about the worst possible outcomes
- 2:23:18Speaker 1: with any. Fear AND i don't know if a psychologist
- 2:23:21Speaker 1: is going to tell you to do, this but, like for,
- 2:23:23Speaker 1: example Like i'll take it a step back and we'll
- 2:23:27Speaker 1: talk about. Jumping, OKAY i don't like to jump into. Airplanes,
- 2:23:30Speaker 1: okay it didn't really you, know it's kind of. Scary
- 2:23:34Speaker 1: SO i had a certain fear. There, okay NOW i
- 2:23:37Speaker 1: got over. It i've got you, Know i've got one
- 2:23:39Speaker 1: hundreds of. Jumps but WHAT i did WAS i used
- 2:23:44Speaker 1: to watch parachute fails over and over and over and
- 2:23:47Speaker 1: over and, over AND i just kind of desensitized myself
- 2:23:50Speaker 1: to it and kind.
- 2:23:51Speaker 3: Of became okay with.
- 2:23:52Speaker 1: It AND i think to a certain, DEGREE i did
- 2:23:56Speaker 1: the same thing with the overall concept of worst case
- 2:23:59Speaker 1: scenario the. War you, know kind of accepted That i'm
- 2:24:03Speaker 1: going to. Die it's. OKAY i believe in the, cause
- 2:24:06Speaker 1: believe in the. Mission it's it's. Okay so NOW i
- 2:24:09Speaker 1: have to solve how to actually how DO i get
- 2:24:11Speaker 1: to the best performance state to do? That and you
- 2:24:15Speaker 1: have to love what you. Do you got to love
- 2:24:18Speaker 1: what you. Do so you have to find a way
- 2:24:19Speaker 1: to love the. Violence you have to find a way
- 2:24:22Speaker 1: to love the. Aggression you have to find a way
- 2:24:26Speaker 1: to AND i think it's inside all of US i
- 2:24:29Speaker 1: think that the person that you are, is you, know
- 2:24:32Speaker 1: who you've kind of created for a certain. Circumstance but
- 2:24:35Speaker 1: the truth is is you might act a little bit
- 2:24:37Speaker 1: different when you're sitting at the table with your mother
- 2:24:39Speaker 1: than when you're sitting at the table with your best
- 2:24:41Speaker 1: friend to when you're going out and doing a hit
- 2:24:44Speaker 1: on the front, lines you, Know and it's a different
- 2:24:46Speaker 1: psychology that's going to perform, best you, know in each
- 2:24:50Speaker 1: of Those and it's it's learning that you are not
- 2:24:53Speaker 1: necessarily one. Thing you are whatever you want to, be you,
- 2:24:58Speaker 1: know and you can you can change, that and you
- 2:25:01Speaker 1: can become. That and the more time that you spend
- 2:25:03Speaker 1: as that, role the more you roll it, out the
- 2:25:07Speaker 1: more you build it, out the more you're comfortable with,
- 2:25:09Speaker 1: it the more you might even look forward to doing it,
- 2:25:12Speaker 1: again you. KNOW i certainly roll that psychology into my arm.
- 2:25:18Speaker 3: Wrestling what's interesting you say, THAT i don't know if
- 2:25:20Speaker 3: a psychologist would tell you to do. THAT i don't
- 2:25:22Speaker 3: think a psychologist would have the ability to understand what
- 2:25:26Speaker 3: that experience even. Is there's one thing about theory and
- 2:25:30Speaker 3: about books and about learning in. School there's a giant
- 2:25:33Speaker 3: difference between that and application in a real world scenario
- 2:25:37Speaker 3: where you might lose your life and you have to
- 2:25:39Speaker 3: take a. Life THAT'S i don't think there's a psychologist
- 2:25:42Speaker 3: in the world that could explain. That that's Why i'm
- 2:25:45Speaker 3: always very hesitant about even sports psychologists or fight psychologists
- 2:25:51Speaker 3: that like teach people how to prepare for. Fighting you
- 2:25:54Speaker 3: could probably give a fighter some, tools but for you
- 2:25:58Speaker 3: to actually tell them what needs to be. Done you
- 2:26:01Speaker 3: if you're not doing, that how can you What you're
- 2:26:05Speaker 3: it's just theory, Theory, yeah and there's a giant difference
- 2:26:08Speaker 3: between theory and application where you are trying to keep
- 2:26:12Speaker 3: your fucking brain. Together and the craziest thing a human
- 2:26:16Speaker 3: being can do parachute down and gun people. Down, like
- 2:26:20Speaker 3: what what is fucking crazier on earth than? THAT i, say.
- 2:26:25Speaker 1: Nothing, well look AT I i used to have that
- 2:26:27Speaker 1: attitude as, well But I've i've changed my attitude when
- 2:26:32Speaker 1: it comes to. THAT i think that it's about excellence and.
- 2:26:37Speaker 1: MASTERY i think that that's what life is. About and
- 2:26:40Speaker 1: if you're in the soldiering, realm, yeah that's that's excellence
- 2:26:44Speaker 1: and mastery in that. Field BUT i think wherever you,
- 2:26:47Speaker 1: are if you're a business, man if you're an. Artist
- 2:26:49Speaker 1: if if you're a, farmer there's. Levels, yeah you can
- 2:26:53Speaker 1: be you can be a farmer that you, know has
- 2:26:55Speaker 1: weeds and you know kind of you, know doesn't get
- 2:26:58Speaker 1: up at the crack of dawn or. Whatever and then
- 2:27:00Speaker 1: you can be a completely psychotic farmer that. Does AND
- 2:27:03Speaker 1: i think that.
- 2:27:04Speaker 3: You're on that.
- 2:27:04Speaker 1: Level, yeah you're just you're on that level of. Mastery
- 2:27:08Speaker 1: AND i think that that is what life is really,
- 2:27:10Speaker 1: about is finding that thing that you're comfortable doing and
- 2:27:14Speaker 1: becoming a master at.
- 2:27:15Speaker 3: It.
- 2:27:16Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, Yeah and NOW i am The Bonnie blue
- 2:27:20Speaker 1: of arm. Wrestling come, on come, ON i GOT i
- 2:27:26Speaker 1: get the first base with.
- 2:27:27Speaker 3: EVERYBODY i got to ask you about, this and this
- 2:27:29Speaker 3: is a silly thing to ask, you because you Said.
- 2:27:31Speaker 3: Candahar have you heard of the legend of The Candahar?
- 2:27:35Speaker 3: Giant of, course, yeah what did you?
- 2:27:37Speaker 1: Hear When i've Seen, okay there's.
- 2:27:41Speaker 3: Some freaks out, there, man there's some.
- 2:27:43Speaker 1: Freaks so, YEAH i Mean i've seen the YouTube, Video
- 2:27:48Speaker 1: i've heard about it from other, people but, legit. Legit,
- 2:27:53Speaker 1: okay hard for me BECAUSE i was far. Away, OKAY
- 2:27:58Speaker 1: i was probably about two hundred meters. Away we were
- 2:28:02Speaker 1: doing a mobility. Exercise, Okay, MOBILITY i hate. Mobility. Okay
- 2:28:08Speaker 1: mobility was my least favorite. Op Mobility, basically you get
- 2:28:11Speaker 1: a bunch of trucks and you kind of roll out
- 2:28:13Speaker 1: and you kind of look for a. Fight. Okay so
- 2:28:16Speaker 1: we were doing like a two week mobility in this
- 2:28:19Speaker 1: region kind of north north of The. PANJWAY i don't
- 2:28:24Speaker 1: remember exactly what it was. Called it was this surrounded by,
- 2:28:27Speaker 1: mountains this big, valley and we were rolling around and
- 2:28:34Speaker 1: and so there was a village that we were going
- 2:28:37Speaker 1: to check. Out And I'm i'm like a, gunner, Okay
- 2:28:42Speaker 1: SO i don't know everything that's going. On i'm a
- 2:28:44Speaker 1: dude on a machine. Gun, okay BUT i can see
- 2:28:47Speaker 1: everything that's, happened AND i kind of know what we're
- 2:28:49Speaker 1: doing all BUT i know that there's a. Meeting and
- 2:28:53Speaker 1: what they have is they have these. Warlords it doesn't
- 2:28:55Speaker 1: it's not the same kind of political system or anything
- 2:28:57Speaker 1: that we have in Like North. America kind of the
- 2:29:02Speaker 1: baddest dude in the region becomes in. Charge. Okay so
- 2:29:07Speaker 1: we were meeting with one of the local, warlords and
- 2:29:12Speaker 1: so the town was like five hundred meters. Away they
- 2:29:17Speaker 1: drove out from the town about five hundred meters and
- 2:29:19Speaker 1: we had our our trucks about two hundred meters from
- 2:29:22Speaker 1: the meeting. Point our officer and a couple of dudes
- 2:29:26Speaker 1: went forward and we're looking this.
- 2:29:29Speaker 3: GUY i, mean he was maybe twice as. Big he was.
- 2:29:33Speaker 1: Huge he was a massive.
- 2:29:35Speaker 3: DUDE i think he was eight.
- 2:29:39Speaker 1: FEET i think he was eight foot. Something and it's.
- 2:29:41Speaker 1: Embarrassing it's Like Devin year. Crazy he's.
- 2:29:44Speaker 3: Big how and he was two hundred meters.
- 2:29:46Speaker 1: Away he's about two hundred meters. Away BUT i can
- 2:29:48Speaker 1: see the. Guys we've got we got. Optics he. Was
- 2:29:53Speaker 1: our officer was probably somewhere but at the bottom of his,
- 2:29:56Speaker 1: chest great Big afghan, dude big, beard big, dude big,

- 2:32:13Speaker 1: They're big they're big people.
- 2:32:14Speaker 3: Out there and So The kandahar, giant story the guy
- 2:32:18Speaker 3: is supposed to be even bigger.
- 2:32:19Speaker 1: Than, that, YEAH yeah i heard.
- 2:32:21Speaker 3: BELIEVE it, I, DO yeah.
- 2:32:24Speaker 1: I do there's freaks, out there.
- 2:32:26Speaker 3: There are this guy supposedly had like six fingers and. Six, toes, yeah.
- 2:32:32Speaker 1: YEAH yeah.
- 2:32:33Speaker 3: I believe i believe.
- 2:32:34Speaker 1: THAT stuff I just, I mean i think that we
- 2:32:37Speaker 1: get so used to normal people and every once in
- 2:32:39Speaker 1: a while there's a weirdo and.
- 2:32:41Speaker 3: These people are not. Being studied there's no one there.
- 2:32:44Speaker 3: Like that that region of the country is, extremely remote extremely.
- 2:32:50Speaker 1: Extremely like they don't it's it's like going back to
- 2:32:53Speaker 1: like the fifteenth century like there's there's motorcycles and some people.
- 2:32:57Speaker 1: HAVE gas, i mean but they don't have. Electric, city
- 2:33:02Speaker 1: yeah there's not even.
- 2:33:02Speaker 3: Really, roads yeah and there was this one guy who
- 2:33:06Speaker 3: was a warlord that was eight. FEET tall i saw,
- 2:33:09Speaker 3: you saw.
- 2:33:11Speaker 1: Yeah from, a DISTANCE but i mean there's no way
- 2:33:14Speaker 1: he was. Any shorter like he. Was huge he was
- 2:33:16Speaker 1: a massive and he was broad across his. Shoulders too
- 2:33:19Speaker 1: he was probably twice, as, broad.
- 2:33:22Speaker 3: Massive.
- 2:33:22Speaker 1: Massive, human yeah what was?
- 2:33:25Speaker 3: That like just seeing something?
- 2:33:27Speaker 1: Like that, it's, Wild, man yeah, you know it's. It's,
- 2:33:31Speaker 1: neat yeah yeah. It was it, was shocking but uh
- 2:33:37Speaker 1: but you know it's neat how they structure. Their leadership
- 2:33:42Speaker 1: that's the guy, in charge the.
- 2:33:43Speaker 3: MOST massive i hope he was a. Nice guy, PROBABLY
- 2:33:47Speaker 3: was i. DON'T know i.
- 2:33:48Speaker 1: DON'T know i mean he, seemed reasonable like we didn't
- 2:33:51Speaker 1: get in, The fight like we didn't there was no,
- 2:33:53Speaker 1: fight there so we worked it out whatever. It was,
- 2:33:57Speaker 1: but yeah there's there are no and it's. It's neat
- 2:34:01Speaker 1: it's kind of cool that he made it to a.
- 2:34:03Speaker 1: Leadership position so he must have been a smart, Guy
- 2:34:05Speaker 1: too and he must have been a, good GUY because
- 2:34:07Speaker 1: i don't think a dick could have been.
- 2:34:10Speaker 3: In charge so did you hear of, that Story the kandahar.
- 2:34:13Speaker 3: Giant story so the supposedly what happened Is it's american
- 2:34:17Speaker 3: military guys encountered this guy in the mountains that was just.
- 2:34:22Speaker 3: Absolutely enormous they said he was like twelve.
- 2:34:24Speaker 1: Feet, tall, yeah well what happened with? A nephelim, you,
- 2:34:28Speaker 1: know right that's.
- 2:34:29Speaker 3: The, thing well the thing is like supposedly they had
- 2:34:33Speaker 3: six fingers and six toes.
- 2:34:34Speaker 1: As well LOOK at i believe that things come to
- 2:34:39Speaker 1: visit and sometimes things get, left behind and, who knows?
- 2:34:44Speaker 1: Who knows, you know there's a good chance that he's
- 2:34:47Speaker 1: maybe just a little bit closer to, all that or
- 2:34:49Speaker 1: somehow a recessive and a recessive somehow found their ways
- 2:34:54Speaker 1: together and.
- 2:34:56Speaker 3: There, you go and somehow there's a surviving population of
- 2:34:59Speaker 3: these people still in the world that. Are undiscovered it.
- 2:35:02Speaker 1: Is a beautiful part of. The world, that region, perfect climate,
- 2:35:07Speaker 1: super fertile like if you were gonna like if there,
- 2:35:10Speaker 1: was nothing what a beautiful place to. Start life afghanistan's,
- 2:35:14Speaker 1: beautiful country so rich. For agriculture the climate, is perfect,
- 2:35:19Speaker 1: you know with the mountains and, the rivers. The seasons
- 2:35:23Speaker 1: it's tough to beat, YOU know i would understand why
- 2:35:26Speaker 1: people would fight so hard to have. That territory and,
- 2:35:30Speaker 1: you know if you were a giant twelve feet tall
- 2:35:33Speaker 1: and you could live anywhere, you wanted, you know in
- 2:35:36Speaker 1: a valley where the rivers fed, YOUR land i could. Pick.
- 2:35:39Speaker 3: There yeah did you hear that story when you were?
- 2:35:43Speaker 3: Over there that story?
- 2:35:44Speaker 1: Is, Famous YEAH and i. Asked around i've never met
- 2:35:47Speaker 1: anybody who was involved in THAT op, i haven't but.
- 2:35:52Speaker 3: But it seems like a story that has something to
- 2:35:55Speaker 3: it because there's too many people telling. That story there's
- 2:35:59Speaker 3: only only one story.
- 2:36:00Speaker 1: Like that there are a lot.
- 2:36:03Speaker 3: Of stories there's more stories like that, THERE are, I
- 2:36:06Speaker 3: mean i should say there's only one story like that
- 2:36:08Speaker 3: online that people repeat over and, over again this. One
- 2:36:11Speaker 3: encounter there.
- 2:36:12Speaker 1: Are fascinating stories, out there Some that i'm, Closer to
- 2:36:17Speaker 1: like what probably the most interesting Story that i'm in
- 2:36:20Speaker 1: any way kind of close to is from that region of.
- 2:36:24Speaker 1: The world and this is a whole other can. Of
- 2:36:26Speaker 1: worms but it's it's. So weird it's. Demonic possession. You
- 2:36:32Speaker 1: know we've we had, a guy a guy he was
- 2:36:35Speaker 1: MY he i worked with him very closely for a super,
- 2:36:39Speaker 1: smart guy, great guy, awesome dude awesome soldier and, UH
- 2:36:43Speaker 1: yeah i mean he got possessed by. A demon he
- 2:36:46Speaker 1: started speaking. In tongues he knew everything, About everybody he
- 2:36:49Speaker 1: could speak. Different languages, he uh he knew everything about.
- 2:36:56Speaker 1: Everybody's life he knew all. Their, sins yeah he knew
- 2:36:59Speaker 1: he knew all the sins, people did even from. Their
- 2:37:01Speaker 1: childhood what that he got Taken, to uh he got
- 2:37:06Speaker 1: taken to the medical through the. Medical system before they.
- 2:37:10Speaker 1: Knew it he was out of the medical system and
- 2:37:12Speaker 1: he was with the, padre there like the priest that
- 2:37:16Speaker 1: comes along on some. Military missions they they did what
- 2:37:20Speaker 1: do you? Call that when you cleanse the demon from
- 2:37:22Speaker 1: what do You call they did. An exorcism he they
- 2:37:26Speaker 1: sent him Back. To canada he he's now watched by.
- 2:37:31Speaker 1: The church he has to go and check in with
- 2:37:32Speaker 1: the church every every.
- 2:37:34Speaker 3: EVERY week.
- 2:37:36Speaker 1: I don't know what to, Tell. You joe there was,
- 2:37:38Speaker 1: A lot i, don't know, but yeah and then, and
- 2:37:40Speaker 1: then and the crazy thing was is the priest who
- 2:37:43Speaker 1: did the exorcism said he knew. The demon he'd already.
- 2:37:47Speaker 1: Exorcist exercise he'd already done the exorcism.
- 2:37:50Speaker 3: Like three or four times in Different, people yeah.
- 2:37:53Speaker 1: That demon was like popping and out. Of. Guys yeah, So,
- 2:37:56Speaker 1: LOOK joe i don't know what's going on in. The
- 2:37:58Speaker 1: world i'm an.

- 2:38:06Speaker 1: Very. Small okay all the guys who WERE there i
- 2:38:09Speaker 1: have very close personal, relationships with and there's no reason
- 2:38:11Speaker 1: for me not to. Trust him and this is the
- 2:38:14Speaker 1: all the and the guy who had it done To
- 2:38:17Speaker 1: him i'm very, Close with like he comes olver of
- 2:38:19Speaker 1: my he was my. Stall. Partner okay UH and i.

- 2:38:34Speaker 3: Yeah yeah does he recall being able to speak? Different,
- 2:38:38Speaker 3: languages yeah he can.
- 2:38:39Speaker 1: Remember, it yeah he can remember.
- 2:38:41Speaker 3: He can't speak. Those, languages.
- 2:38:44Speaker 1: No it was like he was aware of, everything happening
- 2:38:46Speaker 1: but he was like he was. A visitor he was
- 2:38:49Speaker 1: like there for. The Ride, whoa, yeah yeah apparently he
- 2:38:53Speaker 1: when it started it started to like, it started he,
- 2:38:56Speaker 1: was freezing he was locking up and then he was
- 2:39:00Speaker 1: locking and then he started speaking in tongues and then he, was, Like,
- 2:39:02Speaker 1: fully joe it's it's it's it's weird stuff, out, there
- 2:39:07Speaker 1: man there's a lot of things that we, don't, Understand right,
- 2:39:10Speaker 1: and yeah, UH yeah i don't know what to. TELL
- 2:39:15Speaker 1: you i. Don't know it, Wasn't ME but i trust

- 2:39:30Speaker 1: Wow yeah and how long was he? Possessed for he,
- 2:39:34Speaker 1: WAS possessed i think for a couple, of weeks maybe
- 2:39:38Speaker 1: like a week or ten days something. Like that wasn't.
- 2:39:41Speaker 1: Super long but he was all messed, up afterwards like
- 2:39:45Speaker 1: he got like he was done working. After that really
- 2:39:48Speaker 1: he retired, medical, wow yeah.
- 2:39:53Speaker 3: But psychologically like it wasn't like he had a. Schizophrenic
- 2:39:57Speaker 3: break so however it was he came. BACK from i.
- 2:40:01Speaker 1: Don't know that schizophrenia can explain. The, LANGUAGE no i

- 2:40:12Speaker 3: Jesus christ, yeah, literally yeah, yeah right that's.
- 2:40:17Speaker 1: So crazy that's one of the craziest Ones that i've.
- 2:40:19Speaker 3: Seen personally have you heard of other experiences like that
- 2:40:23Speaker 3: where people have? Been possessed. That's it we would think
- 2:40:26Speaker 3: that if a demon was going to, visit someone war
- 2:40:28Speaker 3: would be the place to.
- 2:40:29Speaker 1: Visit him and and that's an ancient that Was, in
- 2:40:32Speaker 1: iraq that was.
- 2:40:33Speaker 3: An.

- 2:40:38Speaker 1: part of.
- 2:40:38Speaker 3: The.
- 2:40:38Speaker 1: World yeah so whatever, is like history is long, and
- 2:40:44Speaker 1: misunderstood and.
- 2:40:48Speaker 3: Something's.
- 2:40:48Speaker 1: Going on something's. GOING on i can't, explain It and
