- 0:10[SPEAKER_06]: Happy Thursday.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: Happy, Happy Thursday.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_00]: We're over the hump day.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_00]: We're almost technically to meet almost the weekend.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: Thursday feels like Friday.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_06]: No, Thursday night it feels like you've completed the week on Thursday.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because Friday, like what people work like half days?
- 0:32[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, you might be able to go into work a little bit later, maybe not.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_06]: Or you definitely finish work early.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think a lot of people can definitely leave work earlier.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_06]: So Thursday, would you say that Thursday is like the happiest day of the week?
- 0:44[SPEAKER_06]: It's like, once you complete Thursday, you're like, I did it.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_06]: I did it for a week.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_00]: It feels like that a little bit.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: I would say Thursday night definitely feels like, oh, like, we're almost there.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_00]: And it almost feels better than Friday because Friday, like you're there.
- 1:01[UNKNOWN]: Huh?
- 1:02[SPEAKER_00]: Friday you're there.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_00]: Friday is the end of the week.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_06]: But by then by Friday you are both people would like to already have their plans.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_06]: Thursday night, like right now, you're kind of like hitting up the group test.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: If you're the type of person who goes out or like a dude would you say you like Friday night or Saturday morning.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_00]: Friday night or Sunday night.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_06]: I like Thursday evening.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, we don't go out to actually, it doesn't really matter for us.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_06]: But also to us too, the weekend, I don't have ever since I don't work at a job or at a store, the weekends feel different because you used to work on a Saturday.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_06]: Well, yeah, but also too, it's just like, I don't look, I realize doing what we do.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_06]: There is no looking forward to the weekend as much.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_06]: Now, personally, maybe you can still look forward to the weekend because now you have other people available.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_06]: Like here are the friends who maybe have different jobs, like they're also free.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_06]: Like during the week, like on the Thursday, 2 p.m. if you wanted to,
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but it still doesn't feel like the weekend.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_06]: It doesn't.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_06]: Something about, you know, it's so funny.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_06]: Something about just Saturday and Sunday.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_06]: It's almost like you go outside and you can just tell, this is a weekend day.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_06]: Without knowing, without knowing like what actual day it is.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_00]: Even if, even if the, even if I am my own boss,
- 2:40[SPEAKER_00]: doesn't matter because like people are still expecting things like people are still expecting things even on your case like people are expecting the podcast to come out yeah people are expecting the patreon to go live yes so it's like we're not just there's a time put on your work there's a thing have to be put out at a specific time things have to be done I guess what I'm trying to say is there's just like a little bit more flexibility
- 3:06[SPEAKER_00]: There is more flexibility, but sometimes I wish there wasn't as much flexibility because then I would be confined to just get it done in this time and then what I'm not clocked in, I can just do whatever.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_06]: And then you can actually have a weekend because sometimes like with you know, it's cool to have flexibility doing a weekdays, but then you, um, if you're not disciplined, you can be like, you know, I can just maybe edit this later and I'm going to go play basketball now.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_06]: So then that later becomes in the evening, but then you want to have dinner and then just like, you know what, it doesn't really come out.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_06]: It doesn't need to come out yet.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_06]: So I'm just doing this tomorrow.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_06]: And then you found yourself scrambling on the weekend.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, because it needs to come out like the patient I'm talking about, right?
- 3:50[SPEAKER_00]: So not everybody would be able to be their own boss and get things done.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: And it's a it's really.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_00]: It's really, it's hard.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: It's like you're kind of almost doing two jobs because on top of the fact that you have to do the job, whatever it is, make content or record something or edit something, you also have to do the other job, which is managing yourself.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_00]: It's like managing making sure things are put out on time, scheduling, doing this, like it's a two-part.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_00]: You don't get to just create yourself to do the administrative project manager's set of things.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_06]: And I keep saying, I don't know if I said it in like the episode, but I feel like there's like a shift in momentum and energy and focus.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_06]: And I can always speak for myself.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_06]: that this is a week three of the of the of 2016 and I feel 2016.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, 2020 is we've been talking about 2016 on his mind because everybody will be posting their 2016 like photos.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know what, they'll send 2016.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you have to post yours.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_00]: You haven't shared any 2016 photos.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_06]: I look the same.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_00]: That's not the point.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: I told you, it's not about looking at the same.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_00]: It's about what are you wearing?
- 5:09[SPEAKER_00]: What are you doing?
- 5:10[SPEAKER_06]: Was that a thing that was, because I didn't see that yesterday.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_06]: I only saw, did it start today, the 2016 trend?
- 5:16[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, it started.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_00]: It started a few, I want to say it started this week.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_00]: This past week, like, people have posted, I think it started as videos.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_06]: Who starts these things?
- 5:28[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_00]: I think people were just, because for years, people have been talking how 2016 was such a, like, such a good year.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: Like, if you were a certain age in 2016, it's like, that's when Drake used to be good.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, that's when like the baby Drake is still good.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_06]: What are you talking about?
- 5:48[SPEAKER_06]: Okay, but you don't like it like that was like peak Drake I hate when people do this.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_06]: Okay, Drake is still Yes, like maybe now there's like the whole thing with Whatever happens.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_06]: It was different than people will always listen Well, I don't want to speak for everybody, but he just he makes good music
- 6:07[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, but I'm saying 2016 Drake music, like if everybody can think back to summer 2016, I can't think back to summer 2015, I don't know what that was.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_06]: I can think about 15 15 is when if we talk about music, Drake, no, I'm talking about just whatever this that summer is not music.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_06]: Okay, well, 2016 was definitely...
- 6:30[SPEAKER_00]: I'm talking like... Where you were... What you were doing... Who you were with... Like... Who were you?
- 6:39[SPEAKER_06]: Describe...
- 6:39[SPEAKER_06]: Some are 26.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_06]: Describe a day of 2016 that you can just close your eyes and remember that day was so 2016.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I was living a very specific life.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: Like I was still in Toronto.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, I got a lot of dreams.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: Dancing ballet.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: I was with all those people that were in my life at that time.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_06]: So what was typical day in 2016 for you?
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I'm talking about specifically summer 2016 because that's when I we pretty much only listen to controller to how does that sound going again?
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not about the singer right now, but you know I said you what I'm saying.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_00]: So I think if you were like in high school in 2016,
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: or even college in 2016, like you had a very specific experience.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: It's like a shared 2016 experience.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's exactly what is sort of trending right now that people are talking about.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's like everybody was wearing like the slit in the knees, tight jeans.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_06]: Definitely had.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_06]: And you know, it was funny.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_06]: I could never find good jeans with the whole underneath.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_06]: I could never find a good pair that fit me.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_06]: So you know what I did?
- 7:49[SPEAKER_06]: I had regular jeans and I just cut it myself, but yeah, you can see that I did it But isn't it crazy?
- 7:53[SPEAKER_00]: It was just like a cut.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't even like no rip with like distressing.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_00]: It was slick That became over time.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_06]: It became worn in a little bit Well, maybe you just had this plate.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_06]: I had something cool to just just like no like my I was like a little Distressed it wasn't just like the sit what is what did you do you just use?
- 8:15[SPEAKER_00]: No, I bought them like that
- 8:17[SPEAKER_06]: And it was just a straight line.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like it was, they were from Paxon.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_00]: I wore those jeans so much.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_06]: Your Paxon?
- 8:24[SPEAKER_00]: They had such a nice, like, distressed hem on the bottom.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_06]: If you want to see what's trendy or like what's like popular, you go to the Paxon and you just see the style that they have.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like, like 20, 16 Paxon and Urban Outfitters were like, my go to shops.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_06]: Why?
- 8:41[SPEAKER_06]: Why do people, like,
- 8:44[SPEAKER_06]: Why is Urban Outfitters like if you got something from Urban Outfitters?
- 8:47[SPEAKER_06]: Why is that like?
- 8:48[SPEAKER_00]: Now?
- 8:48[SPEAKER_06]: From the porn, yeah.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: Well, so... Because I'm 16.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_06]: Can we be honest for a second?
- 8:53[SPEAKER_06]: What?
- 8:53[SPEAKER_06]: Urban Outfitters got some nice stuff.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_06]: So, right now, 2020, I don't shop there, but anytime I wear, I'm just like, oh shit, this is nice, this is nice.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: I'm trying to answer your question.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, sorry.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_06]: Go ahead.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: So, I think 2016 Urban Outfitters was like a time when people wanted the vintage thrifted look, but they like didn't want
- 9:23[SPEAKER_00]: the authentic like thrifting and buying used clothes and such all those things like they weren't trendy it didn't exist at the way that they do now.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_00]: Most people were buying new clothes from the store.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_06]: Mm-hmm.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_06]: Yes, that's true.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, 100%.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_06]: You know, well most people, but not like okay, even you you're at surfting at in 2016.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_06]: Not at all.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_06]: Like buying I was going to um, was I doing H&M?
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it was like Zara H&M.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_06]: Well, first of all Zara never fit me.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_06]: The clothes from Zara are like H&M and Zara same thing.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_06]: No, H&M had bigger size, I'm a tall guy, so I never went to Zara and got something that actually fit me.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_00]: Like everything is like, what I'm saying is they're the same like new department, fast fashion, like just mass-produced clothing.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_06]: You talk about 2060.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_00]: No, I'm talking about Zara and each of them as like stores.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_06]: OK.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_00]: But what I why Urban Alfred was so popular at the time is because it was a little bit different.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't as clean cut.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_00]: It had like this sort of it had what vintage actually has, but we didn't yet like understand or were into buying secondhand clothing.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_00]: So it made
- 10:49[SPEAKER_00]: clothing that looked secondhand, but it was new.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I mean, Arbinaffers still does that.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_00]: I know, but it's interesting to think about it now, because it was like, it was fake old clothes.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_00]: Like they would make it look old.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_00]: They would make like a graphic tea that has like cracks in the graphic.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know what I mean like it would have like it would say, you know like happy life or whatever the fuck like on the front But then it would have cracks in it like it wouldn't be perfect.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_06]: No.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah 100% but there's such a different difference between an actual vintage shirt
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but nobody knew.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_00]: And the crazy thing is Urban Alphars would actually make the material sort of like Soft and like it's not crisp.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: It wouldn't be like on an H&M blank.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_00]: It wouldn't be like a crisp cotton like brand new.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_00]: It would have that soft feel
- 11:44[SPEAKER_06]: No, it definitely did, and I wonder if like, behind the scenes, if stores like H&M, Urban Outfitters, Packson, if there's like a dip within the years, you know, like a business-wise.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm, oh, like now since people are buying more vintage stuff.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I just think, I mean, I don't know, because maybe there's like a lot of people still very much.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_00]: There are.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_00]: There aren't.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_00]: I would say you like majority of people are not buying.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_06]: I feel like I just, yeah, I think I just, I grew that.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_00]: You, exactly.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_00]: Well, one is outgrowing.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_00]: Two, I will say,
- 12:23[SPEAKER_00]: access.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_00]: We've lived in cities that have good sort of like quality and I guess I don't know selection of like vintage shops and stuff like that.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: So the things like where you live, you know, we've lived in Seattle.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_00]: They have a great vintage shop scene, New York, like worlds have we lived.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_06]: It's crazy, because 2016, that's before we met.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_00]: 2016 was, yeah, and it's just, I don't know.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_00]: I think 2016 was 10 years ago from 2026, and I was looking, I was looking for photos to post, but I realized I actually don't have a lot, like I went to my Google photos.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_00]: I went to, I logged into my old eye cloud.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_00]: And I have nothing from 2016.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_00]: I just had to scroll back in my own Instagram.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_00]: to find like a few photos.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_00]: I was going to sign in to my Facebook, but I couldn't remember my password.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_00]: Because I definitely have some stuff on there.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, you didn't have anybody around you to take photos of you all day.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you have... No, but in 2016, I was like, really trying to be cool.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_00]: I was taking very, like, mysterious, like... Yo, me photo.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_06]: Photos of myself.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_06]: 2016 was very much your new vision vibes.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_06]: If you guys don't know, before my at name now is your new photo,
- 13:41[SPEAKER_00]: Which is his name?
- 13:42[SPEAKER_06]: Which is my full name, yes.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_06]: But back then, my first, when I first decided that I was going to be a photographer, I remember it was specifically in 2015.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_03]: Mm-hmm.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_06]: More 2014, but I remember 2015 is when like I put it in my bio photographer and I felt so like I was like, I felt like I did such a thing because you know because I claimed it like once you put it up there That's what you are and from that day you just better be good.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_00]: So or at least you know Sorry, I didn't mean to catch up.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't mean to interrupt.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_06]: Oh you did
- 14:17[SPEAKER_06]: No, so all I'm saying is that once you, for me, I put photographer on my bio and I just felt like it was a real, it became real.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_00]: But that was in 2015.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, but I wasn't good.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_06]: You know, but it's funny.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_00]: So you really just said, I'll have a photographer now.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I don't know where but I would say like instant I think about Instagram in 2016 Okay, wait, well, I want to talk about that right, but I want to break down Okay, category number one music we kind of touched on already a little bit.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_00]: I mean it's hard for me to think like what Music came out other than Drake in 2016 because I know for a fact that summer like that's 2016 summer to me is the Drake views album
- 15:00[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, 100%, but also we said controller, which is on that same album I believe, but one dance was Oh my god.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_00]: I need a one dance.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_00]: You know how this is going?
- 15:10[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, for god.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_06]: I have a little bit of song in the long time, but that song is, I mean,
- 15:15[SPEAKER_00]: To me, that song is like, Alia, drinking alcohol a little bit, you know, when she's underage.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_00]: Like, she's like, trying to be like, kind of sexy, a little bit.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_05]: Trying to be cool in shit, right?
- 15:28[SPEAKER_00]: Have a very specific memory of 2016 summer when we were playing that.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_00]: We were sort of like a house party and I was wearing like a shirt that was like a backless shirt.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_00]: And then I had my hair up, and then I had like hoops.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_00]: And I was just feeling myself.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_00]: And I just remember like it was a fun sort of like house party.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_00]: And there was a guy there that I had a crush on.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_00]: Oh.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_00]: But he was kind of like into this other girl.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_00]: So didn't want to go out anyways.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_00]: But I just remember like I was feeling good.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_00]: And I was there with my friends.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_00]: And we're just like drinking a little bit.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_00]: And I think I had just turned 17.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_00]: And they were playing one dance.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I mean, it was a good enough song that came out.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_06]: He's Rihanna work.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yo, that was such a good song.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_00]: That song.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_00]: Wait, what album was that from?
- 16:25[SPEAKER_00]: The red one, right?
- 16:26[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_00]: It was like the red cover with white.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I don't know her albums by her.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_00]: But I think it was, um, it was work.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like that was, was that the last Rihanna album that we got?
- 16:39[SPEAKER_06]: Thanks for 10 years ago, Daniel.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_06]: That's crazy.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_06]: 10 years ago was the, I mean, she's, I don't think she's going back with music.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think she's coming back with music.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_00]: I just feel like it would look he'd not be good.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_00]: Like, we really kind of be disappointed.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_06]: I think so.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_06]: I think because she dropped some shit like for like, it was a movie soundtrack.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but I mean, it was a movie soundtrack.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_06]: Brianna, she did what she had to do for good six, seven years and that's- No, I mean, a legend.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_00]: The music she gave us is still like, what it is.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_00]: And it doesn't feel like old school.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_00]: What you're still listening to?
- 17:12[SPEAKER_06]: What's your favorite Brianna song?
- 17:14[SPEAKER_06]: Do you, can you recall?
- 17:16[SPEAKER_00]: Favorite Rihanna song?
- 17:18[SPEAKER_00]: I love, I love what now.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_00]: What?
- 17:23[SPEAKER_00]: Take.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_00]: Wait, now, I knew.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_00]: Wait, I'm like tear-watching songs.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_06]: Okay, okay, I think I know, I think I know what song you're talking.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_06]: It's like a very intense song.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_00]: It's like an intense song that's like very, it wasn't like a radio song.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it was popular, but that's not my favorite song.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, I favorite songs.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, ma'am.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_00]: Diamonds?
- 17:47[SPEAKER_00]: Diamonds?
- 17:48[SPEAKER_00]: I'm very, like, dimy.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, that's a good song.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's time.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_06]: I think, uh, oh, Benny Blanco wrote that song.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_00]: Mmm.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yannie's favorite guy.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_06]: It's favorite guy, aren't they?
- 17:58[SPEAKER_06]: Okay, but my favorite favorite song is Man Down.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, the video for that song is so good.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that was when she had her red hair.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_06]: Yep.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_06]: And then another song that I really like about her and I watched that music video a million times.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there are two music videos.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_06]: It was, um, we found love.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_00]: Was that when she was like, there was a lot of like sparkles, like sparkly I watched every video so many times.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we found love is amazing.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, but diamonds is also really good and then diamonds wasn't she like in a tub with water.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_06]: Sean, Brian, look at David.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_06]: I feel like I had the same conclusion.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_00]: I think I can't remember when was the last.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I can't think back to what year was the last year we cared about music videos.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_00]: But you might have to run.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_00]: When you see steam music videos, we're still like relevant.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_06]: Yes.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, anyone's the anti album?
- 18:59[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that's her last album.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, with the red.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_06]: Well, I don't know if it's the last album that she has.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, yeah, I think it is the amps.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_06]: 2016 last album.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_00]: I really liked her and apologetic and apologetic album.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, me too.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_06]: There's a, oh my god.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_06]: Actually, you remind me, there's a song on there called, um, it's called like Mary Mary something.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_06]: It's like it's the longest song on that album.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, yeah.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_06]: Love without tragedy, yeah, can I play?
- 19:34[SPEAKER_00]: No, yeah, it's on Spotify.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_00]: We can't play music.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, we've got to figure that part out.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_06]: But okay, so Adele came out with Halo, that year also.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_00]: The Halo.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_00]: You mean, hello.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, yeah, hello.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_06]: Halo.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, Halo.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_00]: This is Beyonce.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_06]: This is not a game.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_00]: Game.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, like the Halo game video game.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, look.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, the shooting game.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, I don't know.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know shooting games.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, so.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so music.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, yeah, 2016.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_00]: There's there's a lot of other ones.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_06]: There was a lot of like EDM.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_06]: I feel like to just a lot of DJ shit.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_06]: No.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_06]: Was it?
- 20:08[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_00]: Like what?
- 20:09[SPEAKER_00]: Like screw legs or something.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I don't know.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you ever listen to, you know, DJ ghetto.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_00]: That was, that was more like 2012.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_06]: But I love when they did collaborations with like artists.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, you know.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_00]: Did you get it was in the collab bags back in the day?
- 20:28[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_00]: You know, one of my favorite songs is Kelly Rowland featuring David Ghetto.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_06]: What is it?
- 20:35[SPEAKER_00]: And it's like, she's on a beach.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_06]: Was that 2016?
- 20:37[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_00]: Like a way before that.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_00]: I want to say like 2011, 2013 maybe?
- 20:44[SPEAKER_00]: It's such a good song.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_00]: I forget what it's called though.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_00]: It's very like airy.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_00]: Anyways, um, okay, what are the categories?
- 20:53[SPEAKER_06]: So the next category TV and movies do you remember watching anything specifically around a town?
- 20:59[SPEAKER_06]: Were you watching a lot of TV in 2016?
- 21:01[SPEAKER_00]: 2016.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I
- 21:07[SPEAKER_00]: No, I want to say I was watching like pretty little liars, but I think I wasn't watching that anymore.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_06]: 20s?
- 21:14[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, 20s.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, Stranger Things came out that year, which feels like he... What?
- 21:19[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_00]: There's no way.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_06]: The first, we need to fact check.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_06]: But the first episode was 2016, which seems like, not really accurate, because Stranger Things kind of feels new still.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_00]: Stranger Things feels like pre, after COVID.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_06]: Nah, it's before, exactly.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, like 2019.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_06]: I used to watch, no, it's, yep, it's 2016.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_06]: What?
- 21:44[SPEAKER_06]: Yep.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_00]: That is crazy.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_00]: Well, definitely wasn't watching Stranger Things when it came out.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_00]: 2016.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_06]: I was late to Stranger Things.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm still late.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_00]: I'm still late.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_06]: A number any movies, anything like that, anything on Netflix?
- 22:01[SPEAKER_00]: I wasn't really... Yeah, I feel like I wasn't really watching a lot of TV.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_00]: Because I was at school, like a lot.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_00]: I was at school.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_00]: I wasn't living in the dorms, like I was busy.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, easy dancing.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_06]: Today you posted some of the if you if you have Ali on Instagram you go on her story right now and see her If you if you listen to this on time you can go to on her story and see what she was like in 20 She has a photo of her rib jeans.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, you can see exactly the jeans that I was talking about That I wore the shit out of that year.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_06]: What those the same black ones were not made you Because when I made you you had some tight ass pants
- 22:39[SPEAKER_00]: I wear that when we met, like, on our first date?
- 22:41[SPEAKER_06]: No, no, no, you didn't wear that when we met, but like, I still had those genes.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if I was still wearing them, though.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_00]: I wasn't wearing skinny jeans, like, when we were hanging out.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_06]: You had them, and then you won with the timbulance, too.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_06]: I think, was that, was I just photos that I'm thinking of?
- 22:59[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was photos, because I did not have timbulance when we met.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, but I did wear them when I did wear them.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_00]: I wore them with Timberlands and with Air Force ones high-toffs or converse and the strap wasn't like I wasn't tied.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I was just Lucy Lucy
- 23:21[SPEAKER_06]: Okay, let's move on second and third category, social media and internet.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_06]: Were you Snapchat a lot?
- 23:27[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so Zodos gonna say, for me 2016 is Snapchat year.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_00]: I'm talking, I'd ask, I was asking some people like what they're 2016, like photos were just like on message and my manager and like my agent sent me their photos.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_00]: with, like, snapchat filters.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, you remember the dog filter?
- 23:54[SPEAKER_00]: Well, yeah.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_00]: So 2016 was Snapchat dog filter, like, yeah.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_00]: That was what everybody was using.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_00]: It was the dog filter.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_00]: It was like the filter that would make you look mad, like, would give you like a brown.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_06]: But the dog filter was that legendary one.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_00]: Well, that thing was the first one that was like a filter.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_06]: But why don't people use that?
- 24:14[SPEAKER_06]: Just think about it.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of like,
- 24:16[SPEAKER_00]: hides a little bit of your features and you can make you kind of can look like cute I think I did.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_06]: I feel like everybody is a dog.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_06]: I don't think I would use it because I think it hides your mouth Your nose and it gives you doggy.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_01]: Does it hide your mouth?
- 24:33[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know, but I wonder if a lot of people were using it because back then, I don't think a lot of people were posting full selfies, like just like your face.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_01]: On Instagram.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_06]: Maybe you were like, you were even, was it was a dog filter for photo or video?
- 24:50[SPEAKER_00]: For both.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_06]: So you could post a photo of you have dog.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_00]: But you wouldn't really post on Instagram with a Snapchat filter.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_00]: Or maybe you would.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_00]: in 2016 like I was a post in 2016 I was posting like pretty curated like not a aesthetic but I was posting photos of myself but they were very much like photo shoes aesthetic existing 2016 that wasn't that was the aesthetic there were just different it was just a different kind of aesthetic but okay so were you a big
- 25:32[SPEAKER_05]: streaks.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_00]: You know how you can have a streak on Snapchat?
- 25:35[SPEAKER_00]: It's like you have like a six day streak a 10 day streak.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_00]: That means 20 days streak.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_00]: Like you talked every single day consistently and you start having a streak with them.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_06]: Nah, but I remember like Snapchat was a place for me to flirt with people.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I mean Snapchat was like only time I would go on Snapchat was like to float with girls They either liked me or I liked them.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_06]: That was Snapchat for me.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_06]: I didn't care about anything else I mean it's not that I didn't care about anything else at the time but Snapchat was kind of like Yeah, that app for me.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_00]: You know for me it got to the point where I was not texting anyone I was only snapchatting people hit me up on Snapchat
- 26:15[SPEAKER_00]: No, but it would be like sometimes I would have because you know the first is started with just photos And then I think you did videos where you would like click the middle button and you're recording the video Remember you have to swipe up as you click so you hold it.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_00]: It locks it, but then you would send each other messages Remember so you could send like text.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that can lead it, right?
- 26:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I think in 2016 you could already text and I just remember that I actually wouldn't text anyone
- 26:42[SPEAKER_00]: like I wouldn't text my friends or talk my friends outside of Snapchat.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_00]: Snapchat for a minute there replaced like messaging on like I message or whatever people would just I would have full back and forth conversations with people about whatever.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_06]: At that time, to what iPhone was it?
- 27:02[SPEAKER_06]: iPhone 7?
- 27:03[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't have an iPhone in 2016.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_06]: So how did you snapchat?
- 27:06[SPEAKER_00]: What you mean?
- 27:07[SPEAKER_00]: There's other phones.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_06]: What phone did you use on the phone?
- 27:10[SPEAKER_00]: I had a Samsung or something.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_06]: Damn, your quality must have been so shitty probably.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, it'll hate.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, my parents didn't have money for no iPhone.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_06]: I don't think I don't know.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_06]: I might have not even had a phone at the time.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_04]: I still have to do it.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_00]: No, but for real.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_00]: And I remember sometimes it's so funny.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_00]: I was a snapchat, you could have really in the ass, because with Snapchat, you could really flirt.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_00]: No snapchat was the best place for flirting and you would like send snap that would be like oh Sorry, that wasn't for you.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, but then also if you if you send like a risky snap So risky snack Risk snap Yeah, it's like you always wanted to see because I think the color of the bubble would change or like the little square on the side if they will if they opened it
- 27:58[SPEAKER_00]: Well, yeah, it would be like an arrow or something, and then it would be like empty, the arrow would be empty when they opened it.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_06]: You remember screenshot in for the first time.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_06]: Did you ever screenshot anything from Snapchat or like saved on your phone?
- 28:14[SPEAKER_00]: I think so, but you know, it would come up to the other person that they screenshot it.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_00]: And then I remember I,
- 28:22[SPEAKER_06]: You know what people would do?
- 28:23[SPEAKER_00]: I was about to say something.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_06]: You know what people would do?
- 28:26[SPEAKER_06]: They would like if you wanted to like screenshot something, right?
- 28:32[SPEAKER_06]: But you didn't want the other person to know.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_06]: You would have like your friend take a photo of that photo.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_06]: Of that photo.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_06]: Whatever the photo is, when I get into details.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_00]: That's crazy.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_06]: You know, Snapchat was a wild one.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_00]: And that's where like it can be dangerous, especially for like young women.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_04]: Mm-hmm.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_00]: Because whatever you decide to, you know, flirt and send photos of various things or whatever you guys know exactly what I'm talking about, it can become dangerous.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_05]: Just don't dress it.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, yeah, it's easy to say when you're a teenager, you are full of your hormones, you're full of, you know, desires that you don't know what to do with.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, but at that time, I feel like everybody was just to win it.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_06]: Like on Snapchat, that was just everybody knew that there is a chance of a screenshot.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_06]: Like it's a huge gem.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_00]: Has that happened to you?
- 29:31[SPEAKER_00]: I remember that.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_00]: I think that happened to me a couple of times.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_00]: Or just like, yo, yo, yo.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_00]: No screenshotting.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_06]: Okay, so Snapchat?
- 29:40[SPEAKER_00]: Snapchat was an era.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_06]: Snapchat still the thing today.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_06]: I think somehow, and I don't know, please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think last year or the year before, like Snapchat is not going to come back.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_06]: There's a lot of kids now who are not kids.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_06]: Okay, not kids.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_00]: But like, there are people that are in high school and middle school that are on Snapchat.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, there's even still a lot of adults on Snapchat.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know anybody.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_06]: We just don't, we're just not only, but there's a lot of people who are still like on Snapchat.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I mean, I don't know why what's happening on Snapchat.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_06]: No, and now I also think you can probably post stories now.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_00]: It is a story app apparently, and you can follow people to follow their stories.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_06]: And so with Snapchat, it would be like Instagram without a feed.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_00]: Like the feed is just stories.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_06]: The whole there's no feed.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_00]: No, like there is a feed.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_06]: So it's kind of like TikTok.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, except it's like stories so things go away.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, and also to on TikTok there is a feed you can go to someone's profile I think I don't think you can go to someone's profile on Now you can What do you see then?
- 30:57[SPEAKER_06]: Okay, well, I don't really know.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_06]: Shout out to Snapchat, I think you'll be listening to, uh... Sout out, huh?
- 31:03[SPEAKER_00]: I said, Sout out, okay, what else?
- 31:06[SPEAKER_06]: Sout out, oh, shout out.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but I said it like funny.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_06]: Okay.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_06]: Instagram, that's back when the algorithm was...
- 31:14[SPEAKER_00]: There's no video.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_06]: There was no algorithm.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_06]: Like it was chronological.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, like you would, it would be chronological.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_00]: You would see the people you follow.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_00]: And there's no, I think there is an explorer page.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_06]: I don't think there's an exploratory at least.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_06]: I don't.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_06]: The exploratory now is really smart.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't back then like that.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I think we had in 2016.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_00]: We still had the activity tab.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_06]: Oh my god.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_00]: Where you could see like he pulls activity.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_06]: I used to be on there more than any.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_00]: Gross.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_00]: I would see a guy that I like.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_00]: Like a girl's photo.
- 31:51[SPEAKER_00]: Of course.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_00]: And I would go and I would stalk and I would be like,
- 31:54[SPEAKER_06]: Who is that girl?
- 31:55[SPEAKER_06]: It's so cool.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_06]: When you think about it, it's great.
- 31:57[SPEAKER_06]: Why you see what I'm doing?
- 31:58[SPEAKER_02]: It's I loved that.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_06]: No, me too.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_02]: I kind of wanted to bring that shit back.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_02]: Not I'll be crazy.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_02]: But then I don't follow anyone.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_02]: So I wanted to see anyone.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_06]: But then also I remember when they took it away, I was kind of mad because I actually loved to just it's kind of like being in other people's business.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_06]: Because the only reason why that tab was
- 32:22[SPEAKER_06]: Like, okay, let's say my crush at the time, I can see everything she's doing.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_06]: I can see who she followed.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_06]: I can see who she liked.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_06]: Like, what?
- 32:32[SPEAKER_06]: Why?
- 32:32[SPEAKER_06]: It's way harder to find that.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I think the idea of it to begin with was maybe like, see what your friends are also into.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's a lot of people.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_00]: So I know, so that's mostly, that's how most of us are using it.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_06]: What do you get with this information?
- 32:49[SPEAKER_06]: I don't care what meme you liked.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you could also see like when they come and, but it's crazy because if I really think about it, like, 2016 Instagram, I was mostly seeing people that I know.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_06]: I was only seeing people that I know when I go.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and celebrities.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I know I definitely followed Kylie.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_00]: for sure.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_00]: I had like a Kylie, a King Kylie obsession.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_00]: Like when Kylie was quote unquote, King Kylie, which is 2016, it's like she had like a name Kylie.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like Kylie Jenner.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, but that was like she called herself like King Kylie.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_00]: Like people online called her that it's like she had a very specific aesthetic.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_00]: She was like wearing wigs all the time.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_00]: She had like all the Cartier bracelets.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_00]: That's why I had a fake
- 33:41[SPEAKER_06]: I don't remember that one.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yo, I had that one.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_00]: I met you right?
- 33:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_00]: Because I wore that stuff that rings so much that it kind of became part of my finger.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_00]: And I just felt weird to not bring on that thing.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_06]: Was it silver?
- 33:53[SPEAKER_06]: I first, was it like... No, it was gold.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_00]: And it became silver.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_06]: Because when I met you, it was silver.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_00]: Because I wore it so much.
- 34:01[SPEAKER_00]: But it's funny because that wasn't the only person that had one, like a love, a fake love cardiering.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_00]: That's true.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_00]: I also had a bracelet at one point too.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_06]: I'm sure those people who have it now.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I mean, shit.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_06]: Shout out to Canal Street.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_06]: Okay, fine.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_06]: Do you remember Vine will you ever own Vine?
- 34:17[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I, I was on Vine a little bit, but it didn't really stick for me.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_06]: Vine died later that year or the year after.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_00]: But I wasn't, I wasn't super like, a vine watcher.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_00]: I wasn't into like funny videos like that.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_06]: Six seconds was just not enough for me.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_00]: because Vine was just too, it was like, everything was just funny.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_06]: How long did it last?
- 34:43[SPEAKER_00]: What?
- 34:44[SPEAKER_00]: Vine, like, I don't know, it's probably over, but like, nobody was watching Vine when I graduated high school, which was 2017.
- 34:49[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_00]: So I think it was maybe Vine was like 2014, 15, 16.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_05]: Yes, yeah, definitely.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_00]: But you know what the one person that remember from Vine that is still relevant today is Luke Paul.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_00]: Wait, isn't he?
- 35:04[SPEAKER_00]: No, Logan Paul.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, Logan Paul, he was like, he was doing like the craziest, most controversial shit on Vine.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_00]: And I was like the only person that I remember that is still like quote unquote relevant to it.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_06]: Nah, he is relevant today.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_00]: No, I'm saying, yeah, he is.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know anybody else that was on Vine that is still around like that.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_06]: What do you remember where YouTube was in 2016?
- 35:34[SPEAKER_00]: 2016 YouTube, I think I was watching a lot of like Vivo music videos.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_06]: Vivo, that's not even YouTube though.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it is.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_00]: Vivo had it.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_00]: Vivo had a YouTube channel, where they would post Vivo, uh, I'm thinking about something else.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_06]: I'm thinking about something else.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_00]: Vivo official.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_00]: music videos.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_00]: So it's like if it wasn't the evil official music video, it's not the official music video of like Chris Brown song or whatever.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_00]: Chris Brown was pretty big in 2016 too.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, of course.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_00]: And like music coming out like those years.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_00]: Because I remember we would have school dances every year.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_00]: I think we would have like two school dances.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_06]: I was a big Chris Brown.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_06]: We had that's when the fame album came out.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_06]: I think in the song on it that I love the most
- 36:26[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, damn, I forgot the name.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_06]: It goes like this, every, every.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
- 36:47[SPEAKER_06]: But where YouTube was at that time, I don't think I was on YouTube as much as I am now.
- 36:52[SPEAKER_06]: Because one, the one really like, now there's so many creators now.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 36:59[SPEAKER_06]: And now, and I just feel like anytime I go on YouTube now, I'm kind of overwhelmed by the amount of videos I want to watch at the same time.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_06]: Like, I want to watch this.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_06]: I want to watch this.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, he posted.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_06]: But 2016, it was kind of just like, I was still searching what I wanted.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_06]: I wasn't like giving the video.
- 37:15[SPEAKER_00]: Well, that and I also feel that being on or like being into YouTube in 2016 was like kind of niche, like not everybody was just like watching YouTube.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_00]: I think people watch more YouTube now in like a very sort of broad like random way versus then you would watch like daily vloggers.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_06]: in 2016 you would watch like youtubers that are like YouTube being in like the old school or youtubers because you know how there's like a lot of youtubers now who are like legit celebrities right in 2016 do you think they were any youtubers who were wasn't kc's pit posting in 2016 kc kc nice that
- 38:00[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, of course he was.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so I'm talking about like like that type of YouTuber was huge dead.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_00]: The daily vlogger.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_00]: The sort of like there's no aesthetic.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_00]: There's no editing sort of it's it's basically just like this your life just your life.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_00]: You like.
- 38:19[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe cut it up together and you posted the thumbnail.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_00]: It's just a screenshot from the video.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_06]: I think that is a comeback.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_06]: I think that the vlogs should come back.
- 38:29[SPEAKER_06]: And maybe I don't know if like people are just way too busy now to do that because I take a lot of work.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's how people go to TikTok.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_06]: They go to take talk for like the daily sort of whatever But what if I did daily vlogs right imagine someone in New York or like let's say I turn my YouTube channel into a daily vlog Please don't That's that's your biggest night.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_06]: That's how I'm gonna do that a little time I already Cuz like you wake up and you just go do shit and film it and edit it that night and post the next morning and I feel like but that's so much work
- 39:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that is a lot of it.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_06]: Wow, people who did that for a long time, I mean, shout out to you guys because that's some like dedication, you know?
- 39:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't know.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_00]: I truly wasn't watching a lot of YouTube in 2016.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_06]: Okay, um, so we did the like social media YouTube.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_06]: Do you remember Pokemon Go?
- 39:31[SPEAKER_06]: Where everybody was on this show?
- 39:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I was like trying to get into it because it was
- 39:35[SPEAKER_06]: Did he trust?
- 39:36[SPEAKER_00]: I-I-I came to see it to fry.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_00]: Like I was trying to understand it and I was just not into it at all.
- 39:42[SPEAKER_06]: I thought it was so interesting how-I mean, you would literally see people on the street looking for that shit and I didn't understand that game for a minute.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I was just-it just kind of seemed too much of a gamer like sort of-if you want to call it like nerdy nerdy thing.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, I feel like it was fun.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_06]: Like you would go to, you would go to certain areas and then like, but I never did it.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_06]: I just kept seeing people doing it.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_06]: So yeah, Pokemon Go 2016 was a good, I mean, it was a good time.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_06]: It's cool to look back and just think about what came and went.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I don't think I had the iPhone 7.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, whatever iPhone was at the time.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, actually I did I had iPhone 5 But that was in 20.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, I did have an iPhone 5 to Yeah, I had an iPhone 5 in 2015 actually and that's when I started photography so 20 14 2015 is when I had the iPhone 5 and I still have it.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you still have it.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_06]: That's one I thought it.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want my favorite iPhone.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_06]: This not my favorite iPhone, but I have it
- 40:47[SPEAKER_00]: No, I think iPhone 5 is my favorite iPhone because, okay, the size I guess is like small but it's the first time that they made like the flat edges
- 41:02[SPEAKER_06]: It was it was square.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_06]: It was square.
- 41:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, but like that's what I'm saying.
- 41:06[SPEAKER_00]: It's like the sides weren't like a rounded side.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_00]: I had like a very flat frame.
- 41:10[SPEAKER_05]: I like that.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_00]: I like that.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_00]: I hate that they got rid of it for like the phone.
- 41:16[SPEAKER_00]: The phone now has the flat thing.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_00]: And I hope they keep it.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_00]: I like a flat edge.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_06]: Well yours is around it because you got the new phone.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_06]: I still have the iPhone Wait, is it?
- 41:25[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it's like flat with a little round.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I don't like that.
- 41:28[SPEAKER_00]: Give me a good egg I like how it was kind of metallic like it had sort of like a it would cut you it was literally exactly like this.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you're still has that
- 41:36[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I have the 14 Pro Max and it still looks brand new.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_06]: I'm not changing.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_06]: I'm not getting it.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you don't know.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_06]: Damn, fashion, aesthetic.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_06]: Do you remember what you were wearing?
- 41:47[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, we kind of waited for it.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we already went over that.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, 2016.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_00]: Did you wear chokers?
- 41:52[SPEAKER_00]: No, you know, I never got into chillers.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_00]: Really?
- 41:55[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_06]: I feel like that looked so good.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_06]: Like, I remember any girl at a choker?
- 41:59[SPEAKER_00]: You thought it was hot.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_06]: Like something about, I don't know what it is.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I'm like, trying to remember maybe at one point I like bought like a really cheap choker from like clear, is there something?
- 42:12[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, yeah, what's an expensive notebook?
- 42:13[SPEAKER_00]: To be into the trends, but I didn't consistently wear a choker.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I think that looks good.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_06]: Choker is ripped jeans.
- 42:23[SPEAKER_00]: Ooh, I was big into the bomber jacket.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_06]: What are you just about to say that I was just about to say that because but that was I think that was the Kanye influence.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, 115 and I believe that's when the album, um, the life of Pablo came out.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_00]: I literally 2016, I went to Chicago and I wore a red, I posted it on my story.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_00]: I wore a red fake from, I don't know if it was eBay or where the frick you buy that should.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_00]: But I bought like two different ones.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_00]: I bought a red shirt that said I love Pablo on the back and the front and then I bought a long sleeve like orange yellow one that had the same thing on it.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_06]: that was that was a good album but that was also my favorite Kanye version he has many different evolutions whatever and you can think about Kanye's no say what you I'm not here to talk about what we think about him but 2015 Kanye
- 43:23[SPEAKER_06]: First of all, I mean, he had such a huge influence on fashion industry.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_00]: I think he was like, at his peak all around from fashion to music.
- 43:33[SPEAKER_06]: That album was in class.
- 43:35[SPEAKER_00]: That album is the orange album, right?
- 43:37[SPEAKER_06]: I want to listen to that shit right now.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_06]: I need to listen to that.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_06]: But also to that's when I bought my most expensive item that I ever spent money on.
- 43:45[SPEAKER_06]: oh yeah the season three military boots it came out it was easy season three and I think he had like different versions of boots before I could never really like afford right yeah at the time I was working at vans and amazon like full time so I had some money saved up and I was living with my mom at the time right
- 44:08[SPEAKER_06]: And that's back in Seattle, and I remember I got those shoes, those boots were like $500.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I still haven't, and I don't even wear them that much, but I still haven't.
- 44:19[SPEAKER_00]: They're still so good.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, and they're still like in great condition.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_00]: Because you don't wear them.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I know.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_00]: You should wear them more.
- 44:25[SPEAKER_06]: I know, I should.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_06]: But, um, I'm glad you still haven't, though.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_06]: I know, I don't think I'll ever kind of like get rid of him.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's so good.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_00]: It's crazy actually.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_06]: He came out with different boots, but I think that's the best boot he came out with.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, 2016 I would say like the fashion it's when it's definitely when like that huge shift of like easy that easy look of like the bomber jacket the like leggings with the bomber jacket I remember was like a thing oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, and it was like a monochrome of like
- 45:04[SPEAKER_06]: 50 sheets of gray and beige and like pinky beige and blue gray and steel blue amazing stuff you can't You can't deny that if you were there, it was a huge yeah, like I remember it was so good and you could still now on YouTube because they I don't think they streamed but there was a whole YouTube video about
- 45:25[SPEAKER_06]: all the maros and how they stage it and yeah the fashion show i remember yeah it was it was definitely like but nobody's doing shit like that like who else did something that was so you could almost like feel the
- 45:40[SPEAKER_00]: I think the reason why I had such a huge influence is also because it was like streetwear and it was also so simple that it made it really approachable for people to like now it's like not nobody's doing anything in fashion today that feels approachable to that level of what Kanye did then.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_00]: Wait, you feel like this is something that I could have.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_00]: This is something that I could put together, because you can get a bomber jacket from anywhere.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_06]: And everybody was making them.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_06]: H&M was making them.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_00]: I had an H&M green army green bomber jacket.
- 46:18[SPEAKER_06]: What the orange on the inside?
- 46:19[SPEAKER_00]: No, I was black.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, you had to get the orange on there.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_00]: You got to get the orange on the inside.
- 46:24[SPEAKER_00]: That was a specific, like, am at the one.
- 46:27[SPEAKER_00]: It was like an M1 bomber jacket, like it had a specific name.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_00]: And then it would have like a little like pocket on the side with the keychain that had a red tag on it.
- 46:36[SPEAKER_06]: Did you want to get that one?
- 46:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I wanted to get that one, but it was too expensive.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_00]: So that's the cheap, I didn't know one.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_06]: Yo.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_00]: He was like, it was that with the love cardier ring.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_00]: That was my look.
- 46:47[SPEAKER_00]: And they ripped jeans.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_06]: Ah, so good, I mean, even before or even a little bit after what Kanye did with fashion, I just think he's like amazing.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_06]: Like the stuff that he did, all of his, and you see this not episode about Kanye, obviously, but you see his influence on brands today.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_01]: Hmm, okay, like what?
- 47:09[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know, I don't know brands, but I see sometimes I walk around who you're gonna see a billboard of a brand.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_06]: It looks like a easy.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I would say it also like, Kim's entire, like, skims.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_06]: Okay, but that's all from him.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_00]: I know what's what I'm saying here.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_00]: Her entire skims aesthetic look like vibe like everything is like, from how they, you know how models you stand straight arms down.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_06]: Like I, I think I saw that from that show.
- 47:39[SPEAKER_06]: Anyways, um, yeah, that was a big thing.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_06]: And Adidas superstars also, which is the original, it's not like the sambas, but it's like the ones with the thicker soul a little bit.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think I ever got on that.
- 47:56[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I feel like that was like, I mean, I wasn't wearing that as much as I remember, like, seeing the Chuck Taylor's Air Force.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I would wear, I would wear Chuck Taylor's, like, Chuck 70s with skinny jeans.
- 48:11[SPEAKER_06]: Chuck 70s skinny jeans, okay.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_00]: But it would be like high tops in the skinny jeans.
- 48:18[SPEAKER_00]: So I was just like, you could see the whole ankle.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_06]: The whole ankle.
- 48:27[SPEAKER_06]: Well, let's think about shoes, when I think about shoes, I really think that was like the peak of like easy stuff.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_06]: Easy snickers, whether it's boos.
- 48:34[SPEAKER_02]: Snickers.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_02]: Snickers.
- 48:36[SPEAKER_06]: What did I say?
- 48:37[SPEAKER_06]: Snickers.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_06]: Snickers.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, sneakers.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_00]: Well, that was when...
- 48:40[SPEAKER_06]: It was so many different ones.
- 48:41[SPEAKER_00]: Like the, the like sort of sock slip on sneaker.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_06]: That's later.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_00]: That was later.
- 48:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that was that.
- 48:50[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 48:53[SPEAKER_00]: I was like 2017.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and they would be like net on top and they would have like the bubbly bottom
- 49:05[SPEAKER_06]: You might be talking about something completely different.
- 49:07[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, and then they would have like written with like red in the stitching and it would be like 95.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 49:33[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, of course.
- 49:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think then he maybe he like put out the minions on Because I'm happy.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, maybe that was a shoot.
- 49:42[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if that was a huge I would be surprised if it was around there.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe a little bit before like 2014 2015.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah
- 49:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, anything else?
- 49:52[SPEAKER_06]: What's the tumblr?
- 49:53[SPEAKER_00]: Tumblr wasn't a thing.
- 49:55[SPEAKER_06]: Were you using tumblr around that time?
- 49:57[SPEAKER_00]: It's tumblr, not tumblr.
- 49:59[SPEAKER_06]: What did I say?
- 50:00[SPEAKER_00]: Tumblr?
- 50:01[SPEAKER_06]: Tumblr?
- 50:01[SPEAKER_06]: Were you using tumblr?
- 50:04[SPEAKER_06]: Tumblr?
- 50:05[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I think I was using tumblr way before 2006.
- 50:07[SPEAKER_00]: I was using tumblr, like... 2012.
- 50:10[SPEAKER_00]: Before I moved here.
- 50:11[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, 2012, 2013.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_06]: I was head to your level.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_00]: in 2016?
- 50:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 50:20[SPEAKER_06]: 2016.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_06]: A little.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 50:24[SPEAKER_06]: I was still on Twitter a lot on 2016, but I had a different handle, like a littlely when when Twitter started, like I think it was all nine, 2009, 2010, 2011, 12.
- 50:39[SPEAKER_06]: Those years back when I was in Belgium.
- 50:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 50:43[SPEAKER_06]: Um, I was on Twitter every single day.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_06]: I don't even think I had like screen time back then, but it was bad.
- 50:50[SPEAKER_00]: But will you on Twitter like on desktop?
- 50:53[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, on desktop and I was tweeting all day random shit.
- 50:57[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like in 2012, like you didn't really have a smartphone.
- 51:00[SPEAKER_06]: No, I was tweeting.
- 51:01[SPEAKER_06]: I remember I was at my dad's house.
- 51:03[SPEAKER_06]: I was in Antwerp, and I was tweeting from the desktop.
- 51:06[SPEAKER_06]: And I was just like, I was that's the time when I was obsessed with Rihanna.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_06]: I was obsessed with her.
- 51:12[SPEAKER_06]: That's why I think it was the, I don't know what album it was.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_06]: Like talk that talk, it was a good album.
- 51:19[SPEAKER_06]: Yo, I was obsessed with Rihanna at the time.
- 51:20[SPEAKER_06]: I wanted her to follow me on Instagram so bad.
- 51:22[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, I don't want to.
- 51:23[SPEAKER_06]: On Twitter, yeah.
- 51:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_06]: So yeah, that was,
- 51:27[SPEAKER_00]: 2016.
- 51:28[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 51:29[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like it's definitely I look at it with the, you know, it's just so interesting to look back on 2016 because I'm like, how are we going to look back on 2026 in 2036?
- 51:44[SPEAKER_06]: We're going to be like everybody was podcasting.
- 51:48[SPEAKER_06]: Everybody thought they had a problem with that.
- 51:50[SPEAKER_00]: Chris had 2016 podcasting didn't exist.
- 51:52[SPEAKER_06]: No.
- 51:53[SPEAKER_00]: Like, everybody had the podcasting app on their iPhones.
- 51:56[SPEAKER_00]: But like, everyone deleted that.
- 51:58[SPEAKER_00]: Or you couldn't delete it.
- 51:59[SPEAKER_00]: You would like put in a random thing.
- 52:00[SPEAKER_05]: I was like, what is this?
- 52:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like, what is this purple app?
- 52:03[SPEAKER_00]: Like, nobody.
- 52:04[SPEAKER_05]: What is podcast?
- 52:05[SPEAKER_00]: I remember thinking that that was just such a random app that would come on your phone, like useless.
- 52:13[SPEAKER_00]: I would put it in like the utility's folder, like random mothership.
- 52:17[SPEAKER_06]: Do you remember the YouTube album that came with your Apple music?
- 52:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but that was...
- 52:22[SPEAKER_06]: It's like, why did I have to have that album?
- 52:24[SPEAKER_06]: You know how many times a day I delete that?
- 52:25[SPEAKER_00]: Nobody could get rid of it.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_06]: I think it's still, it's not a thing right now anymore.
- 52:30[SPEAKER_06]: But like, what happened?
- 52:31[SPEAKER_00]: I think they might have gone a deal, like, how did they deal with them?
- 52:35[SPEAKER_00]: That it's like everybody.
- 52:36[SPEAKER_00]: That is a crazy deal.
- 52:38[SPEAKER_00]: It gets our album.
- 52:39[SPEAKER_06]: Anybody who gets an iPhone going, you're going to have our album.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_06]: I think I might have been it.
- 52:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I used to before, okay, I mean, before 2016, this was when I first moved to the U.S.
- 52:53[SPEAKER_00]: So it was like 2011, and my parents didn't have enough money to, like, they didn't let me buy music from iTunes.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_00]: But I really wanted an iPod.
- 53:05[SPEAKER_00]: So my parents got me an iPod.
- 53:08[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was like an iPod.
- 53:10[SPEAKER_00]: Three.
- 53:11[SPEAKER_00]: Not at all.
- 53:11[SPEAKER_00]: Like it was like they could, they had a touchscreen.
- 53:13[SPEAKER_05]: okay.
- 53:14[SPEAKER_00]: You can take photos.
- 53:16[SPEAKER_00]: It has a silver bag.
- 53:18[SPEAKER_06]: The nano is the one that's just the buttons and it's like the silver shiny bag was the one
- 53:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so I had the iPod touch and no colors, right?
- 53:28[SPEAKER_06]: No color.
- 53:29[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, I had no, it was just like a silver back and What was I going to say?
- 53:35[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, and I got it, but then I didn't realize that You couldn't like you know with non iPhone phones.
- 53:43[SPEAKER_00]: You can customize the phone much easier.
- 53:45[SPEAKER_00]: You can like Connect to your computer and put a bunch of music on it.
- 53:50[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, like it doesn't have the restrictions that unfortunately apple products do
- 53:53[SPEAKER_06]: It's like a MP2 player.
- 53:55[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly, but with like an iPod touch, I couldn't do that.
- 54:00[SPEAKER_00]: So I wanted to have music on my iPod.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, I know what you did.
- 54:04[SPEAKER_00]: But I didn't want to buy it because my parents kept getting mad at me that I was but it would be like $2 for a song.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_06]: $2.99.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no, it was $1.99.
- 54:13[SPEAKER_06]: No, okay.
- 54:14[SPEAKER_00]: And that's just crazy.
- 54:15[SPEAKER_00]: That's so expensive for a song, right?
- 54:18[SPEAKER_00]: From one song and I would want to get hella.
- 54:20[SPEAKER_00]: It's like have music on my iPod.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_00]: So what I ended up doing is like basically
- 54:26[SPEAKER_00]: Like I would like get the music off of like I would download it offline somehow and then I would put it on my iPod But when you do that the song doesn't come with like the cover are it doesn't come with like it doesn't come like in an album So I don't remember how I even figured this out, but there's like there was a way where I could basically like
- 54:50[SPEAKER_00]: download the artwork and assign the artwork to those songs and put them on an album in typing your own title.
- 54:59[SPEAKER_00]: I'm okay, yes, but why would you type in your own title?
- 55:02[SPEAKER_06]: No, because sometimes when you get it from those those are it downloads.
- 55:06[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, download brand of work.
- 55:08[SPEAKER_06]: It'll say like let's say it's a reano.
- 55:13[SPEAKER_06]: We found love.
- 55:14[SPEAKER_06]: It would say
- 55:18[SPEAKER_00]: But did you download the photos to put it on that moment?
- 55:22[SPEAKER_00]: Because you didn't want to listen to music, and then you turn somebody sees your screen, and it's just a musical note.
- 55:30[SPEAKER_06]: It's like, don't you listen into it, it says, on-none.
- 55:33[SPEAKER_00]: It's like I wanted to have the cover art.
- 55:36[SPEAKER_06]: I didn't want anybody to know that I couldn't afford to buy them You know, I definitely did that and I was downloading.
- 55:43[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, I was down in music way before 2016 Like I remember like this was like 2011.
- 55:48[SPEAKER_00]: I said oh Yeah, yeah, yeah, but in 2016 I didn't have Spotify
- 55:54[SPEAKER_00]: I remember I was still listening to, I don't even remember how I was listening to me.
- 55:59[SPEAKER_06]: I had to listen to music in 2016.
- 56:01[SPEAKER_06]: How was I listening to music?
- 56:02[SPEAKER_06]: I think I had, I was definitely listening to it.
- 56:05[SPEAKER_06]: Pandora.
- 56:06[SPEAKER_06]: No, I never had.
- 56:07[SPEAKER_02]: I never had Pandora.
- 56:08[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, I never signed up for that because for some reason I felt like he was, you couldn't like play the songs you wanted and you had to listen to ads all the time.
- 56:17[SPEAKER_06]: ads at all yet they were definitely at on Pandora what what did you listen to music in twenty six because it wasn't a CD player no no like you had on I had a knife on I had iPhone five and I was listening to music was I I don't because I wasn't streaming was I like did Apple music exist yeah of course no but I'm saying like as a subscription I don't know I don't think it existed actually I need to
- 56:47[SPEAKER_00]: I definitely know that I wasn't listening to music on Spotify in 2016, and maybe I was, fuck.
- 56:53[SPEAKER_06]: Okay.
- 56:53[SPEAKER_06]: Are you going to talk to me?
- 56:55[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, and it was just like with ads.
- 56:57[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 56:58[SPEAKER_00]: I don't remember.
- 56:59[SPEAKER_06]: But yeah, in 2016, now that I think about it, it kind of makes sense, because I didn't get it when I saw the week when I was kept seeing 2016 this 2016 lab, and now that we talked about it, and it's because I think they might have been a sort of audio.
- 57:18[SPEAKER_00]: something something and then I was 16 and it would switch from like what you look like now to what you look like when you were 16.
- 57:26[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, but now I have to talk about all the things that we just did.
- 57:30[SPEAKER_06]: I remember how that time was so it felt like a lot was happening.
- 57:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's good.
- 57:37[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but I don't think it felt like a lot was happening to the extent that nowadays
- 57:46[SPEAKER_00]: things are happening at a much faster pace and all the time and we're consuming information and content like like that didn't exist.
- 57:55[SPEAKER_00]: We were so free.
- 57:57[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 57:58[SPEAKER_00]: In 2016 we were so free from like all of the stuff that we have now.
- 58:03[SPEAKER_00]: Like I wasn't on my phone.
- 58:05[SPEAKER_04]: No.
- 58:05[SPEAKER_00]: Like the same way for the same reason too.
- 58:08[SPEAKER_00]: The only reason why would be on my phone is to snapchat my friends.
- 58:11[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, to me was definitely to get on Snapchat and to tweet some random thing.
- 58:17[SPEAKER_00]: And it would be I would be on Instagram.
- 58:18[SPEAKER_00]: I would be on Instagram definitely like, you know, looking at what other people post.
- 58:25[SPEAKER_06]: I should maybe post like instead of posting photos of myself in 2016, I should post like my early days of photography.
- 58:34[SPEAKER_06]: Like do a whole post of like this was my photography in 2016.
- 58:37[SPEAKER_00]: You could.
- 58:38[SPEAKER_00]: I would want to, yeah, that would be good.
- 58:39[SPEAKER_00]: But I would want to see what 2016, like maybe just put on your story.
- 58:43[SPEAKER_00]: Because I just put on my story, like I'm gonna post it on my feet.
- 58:46[SPEAKER_06]: I'm going to try and find, I'm going to try to find like a nice little dump of the only photography in 2016.
- 58:54[SPEAKER_06]: This is crazy.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_06]: I know exactly how it looked like.
- 58:56[SPEAKER_06]: It was faded.
- 58:57[SPEAKER_00]: It was always dark.
- 58:58[SPEAKER_00]: It was fake faded.
- 59:00[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, fake faded.
- 59:01[SPEAKER_06]: I used to put like a bunch of pictures on it.
- 59:04[SPEAKER_06]: What?
- 59:04[SPEAKER_00]: Filters like add some grain to it.
- 59:07[SPEAKER_06]: Yes, add some grain on it and I would try to make it.
- 59:10[SPEAKER_00]: You've had like light flares.
- 59:12[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 59:14[SPEAKER_00]: A red light flare in the corner.
- 59:17[SPEAKER_06]: Oh my goodness.
- 59:18[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, this is a word.
- 59:19[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, it's not at all.
- 59:21[SPEAKER_06]: I can keep talking about 2016.
- 59:22[SPEAKER_06]: It's, it was a good year.
- 59:24[SPEAKER_04]: It's crazy.
- 59:25[SPEAKER_06]: And you know, like, I don't know how we like we started to talk about 2016.
- 59:29[SPEAKER_06]: I love that we went there.
- 59:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 59:32[SPEAKER_00]: Well, we started because of just like what people are posting online now, like today, like this week.
- 59:38[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, but they're visually, we had a whole different episode.
- 59:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, actually we were playing on top of the whole thing.
- 59:43[SPEAKER_00]: So.
- 59:44[SPEAKER_06]: but this is this fits what this kind of works out.
- 59:47[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, yeah, it's perfect.
- 59:48[SPEAKER_06]: See, this will just happen sometimes.
- 59:50[SPEAKER_06]: Now, you sit down and also you don't have to.
- 59:51[SPEAKER_02]: We'll never introduce the pot.
- 59:53[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, yeah.
- 59:54[SPEAKER_06]: If this is your first time, my name is Johnny Kodo.
- 59:57[SPEAKER_06]: Thanks for listening if you got to the end.

- 1:00:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:00:04[SPEAKER_00]: And we're at the end of the episode.
- 1:00:06[SPEAKER_06]: We're at the end of the episode.
- 1:00:07[SPEAKER_06]: Yes, I was gonna say something.
- 1:00:09[SPEAKER_06]: It's very close here.
- 1:00:10[SPEAKER_06]: All you set up to vibe.

- 1:00:59[SPEAKER_00]: She had a whole different plan for herself.
- 1:01:02[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, same.
- 1:01:02[SPEAKER_06]: 2016 is when I realized that I did want to play basketball anymore and that I knew that I wasn't going to make it today in B.A.
- 1:01:10[SPEAKER_06]: for sure.

- 1:01:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I like to see you know, it's still very much like trying to be a ballet dancer.
- 1:01:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you were still in the fight.
