- 0:00Watching wrestling, like I never knew Paul Hayman, Like I missed the Paul
- 0:05Hayman era where he was a prominent character and it's all the fame speech really
- 0:11brought it all in perspective about how much of an impact he made in the
- 0:15game. It's pretty crazy. Yeah. He was kind of like that guy
- 0:19that brought the cool factor to wrestling, especially with you know, it got
- 0:25to a point with wrestling that you looked at whole cochun and it got lame,
- 0:28you know what I mean, as you got a little older. It's
- 0:30like this guy, you know, talking about eating your vitamins and saying your
- 0:35prayers, and he got the crazy ball spot, you know what I mean.
- 0:39His offense was mad corny and he was like, come on, bro.
- 0:44And then like a lot of people don't know that, Paul Hayman was
- 0:47the first one that gave Steve Austin a real chance to like let loose and
- 0:51talk on the mic and everything. And he really came up with that stone
- 0:54cold character in Paul Hayman's organization of ECW and before he came to WD that
- 1:00was what like really like propelled him to use that character later on. So
- 1:04Paul Haman. He had his hand in like a lot of big things in
- 1:10wrestling and even got his start as like a promoter at Studio fifty four back
- 1:15in the day, you know what I mean, Like actual studio, the
- 1:17actual Studio fifty four. That's crazy. Put on a wrestling show at Studio
- 1:23fifty four. You got to check out that story, bro Studio fifty four
- 1:26story. He talks about it quite a bit, but yeah, man,
- 1:30he got a crazy story. And he's just a guy that you know,
- 1:34he knows how to get it, especially when it comes to wrestling. Yeah,
- 1:38that's why I was wondering, like with Roman Rings and how he's such
- 1:42a big part of Roman Ring's character and now, uh when he comes out
- 1:46with him and he's like everything and like and Roman Rings inducted him, you
- 1:51know, yeah, And I was like, why why does everybody care so
- 1:53much? And then I saw the clips and I was like, he was
- 1:57a guy who crafted these personas in wrestling, some of these biggest personas in
- 2:02the game that we all loved. It was part of his craft, and
- 2:07that's why Roman Rings was like, if I ever see a wrestler not talking
- 2:10to Paul Hayman, I know, he's not trying to get better, he's
- 2:14not trying to be a star in his industry. Yeah. Yeah, Paul
- 2:17Hayman kind of turned Roman Reigns into that box office guy that you know,
- 2:24made him basically made him cross over into that like more pop culture space where
- 2:30more normal people know Roman Reigns. Back in the day, nobody really would
- 2:35have known a wrestler. Like still people would just say like the Rock or
- 2:38Stone Cold because that's the only you know, Hulk Hogan, Like that's what
- 2:42people think of, you know what I mean? Roman Rains is starting to
- 2:45creep into that space where like people that don't even know wrestling know who Roman
- 2:49Reigns is. And a lot of that has to do with Paul Hayman amplifying
- 2:53his character and helping him go up a notch. Yeah, because he held
- 2:55the title for like a thousand and three hundred some days. Yeah, bro,
- 3:00it's like the longest mudern rain. Yeah, and he had nine WrestleMania
- 3:05main event matches, the most out of any wrestler ever. Crazy and like
- 3:09people just downplay that because they didn't like what he was doing. But for
- 3:14him to do that, he was doing something right, you know what I
- 3:16mean, yeah, facts, he was just like it's funny because the Roman
- 3:22reign story is a funny one because when he debuted, he was part of
- 3:25a group, so it was three guys the Shield, and then everybody loved
- 3:35him in the group, like everybody wanted him to be the main guy in
- 3:39WWE, like the reactions he was getting, like he was the one that
- 3:44the fans were like, yeah, this is the guy. So that WW
- 3:47was like all right, cool, so they took him out the group made
- 3:51him the guy, and then the fans was like, nah, we don't
- 3:53want this guy. It's like bro, like you guys were the ones that
- 3:57was telling us, Yeah, you know what I mean, it's kind of
- 4:00crazy. And then like he ended up finally like turning them back and winning
- 4:03them back again. And ironically he's related to the Rock and that was kind
- 4:09of Rocks upcoming. He was part of the nation domination and the storyline played
- 4:14for him to you know, uh go against uh what's what was his name
- 4:17for Rupe? Yeah, yeah, the leader uh. And that's how he
- 4:23came to Sha and and you know that's his nephew or cousin or something.
- 4:27Yeah, I think it's it's a cousin, like a second cousin type there.
- 4:30Yeah, And I think yeah because remember he was in a young rock
- 4:32show. I was a little kid in there. Yeah, and now they
- 4:34got the bloodline and it's just it just shows how this family are wrestling and
- 4:42the way they come up can really craft. And with Paul, with someone
- 4:45like Paul Haym and the guy them could really craft like a superstar of a
- 4:48generation. And uh, I'll give it up to Romraines. This this WrestleMania
- 4:54was the first WrestleMania watching his entirety. Uh be it too weak to day
- 5:00now? That's crazy And I was so into it. It was one of
- 5:02the they said Triple H came out all row. I said, it's the
- 5:06best WrestleMania ever statistically and fans reaction wise and attendance wise. Yeah, wrestling
- 5:14is good when when the stories are like believable and they execute it. The
- 5:19funny thing about wrestling is they choose the outcomes, yet a lot of the
- 5:26times the things end the way that they shouldn't. Like, you guys are
- 5:30literally coming up with the ending, but you're giving us the ending that nobody
- 5:35wanted. And a lot of that, bro and the crazy thing is.
- 5:40It's funny that we're talking about this because I actually wrote down WWE moving away
- 5:46from sports entertainment and the Vince McMahon era, so like a lot of things
- 5:49have been like popping up basically saying that you know, Triple H is now
- 5:54in charge and he's just kind of doing away with all these like old and
- 5:59antiquated things that Vince McMahon was doing, because it was so evident when you
- 6:02watch WWE that this was just an old, out of touch guy that was
- 6:09coming up with the creative things, you know what I mean. It's like
- 6:12you have to understand at a certain point that you're not coming up with fresh
- 6:15ideas, and you got to let people bring those ideas to you, you
- 6:18know what I mean, a seventy something year old dude, you know,
- 6:23writing for all these wrestlers and coming up with characters. Bro, That's that's
- 6:27what That was. The era where people were like, there's no way I
- 6:30would be caught dead watching wrestling. Yeah, and that was a great thing
- 6:33about I think it was Sunday's intro the Sunday Night of WrestleMania and Stephanie Bigmhon
- 6:40came out being that heard that just got fucking asked. And that's one thing
- 6:45and that's why, like Pat McAfee and the commentators now they continue to reiterate
- 6:49that a triple H is a TKO dawn right now the calls the shots.
- 6:58And then so Stephanie Bimann come So after all this ship that came out with
- 7:01Vince McMahon and his controversy and him being asked and all the grimy ship he
- 7:06did for her to come out, and she's like, you know what the
- 7:09best part of this weekend is, this is the beginning of the Paul Lovac
- 7:15wrest w w E Aaron Paula Veca's Triple Ah's name. She's like, this,
- 7:19this is where it's him now, it's him writing this story. It's
- 7:24him coming up with this. The first US radio where he ran the show,
- 7:28he was the one that came up with all the stories and execute VISs
- 7:31one. And you know what's crazy, I forgot where I was just as
- 7:36a fan. Dog that bro guy running w w E. Right now,
- 7:43Dogs, you know the game that game? Are you ready? Are you
- 7:48playing the game? Dog? He was not playing around brou the game from
- 7:55d and from him going to from from Hunter hurstim's leader Triple H shit the
- 7:59game d X, and you see his like him involved me. Yeah,
- 8:03and it makes sense because his character lived on forever, like nobody ever got
- 8:09tired of Triple H in the game. He like continuously evolved into a better
- 8:13character and character that people are like, all right, I still fuck with
- 8:16him. Yeah, but I read it was a Reddit post that someone was
- 8:20like, he wrote this story so good that there's so many what's it called,
- 8:28there's so many rivalries built just with this week and the loone that they
- 8:33have like a million avenues to explore, like seeing Punk worth is Set,
- 8:37seeing Punk versus Drew, and seeing Punk versus The stories are so layered and
- 8:43like all the angles make sense. Yeah, Like it just it's like,
- 8:48wow, this is like actually a sophisticated story that makes the rest It can
- 8:52go anywhere, and anywhere it goes, we're gonna be happy because we would
- 8:58like to see like Rock versus Cody, Rock versus Roman, Rock versus said,
- 9:03Rock versus fucking everybody, Like there's so many ways it can go in
- 9:09whichever route they choose is gonna be fucking amazing. And that's all Triple Hs.
- 9:13He set that up perfectly. Yeah, man, It's crazy because they
- 9:18used to say back in the day as a wrestler that Triple H was kind
- 9:20of the guy that was good at coming up with ideas and stuff, but
- 9:24also he would kind of eat ship for the company to like keep stuff chugging
- 9:30along. Like even when you know, there was an infamous event where like
- 9:35Scott Hall and Kevin Nash were gonna leave to w CW and their last show,
- 9:41Triple H was out there hugging them, you know, saying by and
- 9:43stuff. And at that time, like one of them was a good guy,
- 9:46one of them was a bad guy. So that was like, they
- 9:48don't do that in wrestling. You know what I mean, Fans, you
- 9:54know what I'm saying. This is real, you know what I'm saying.
- 9:56So that's a k fab That's when you break the exactly the kfabe. You
- 10:00know, you gotta keep a kfabe. And it's just funny how like he
- 10:05was the one that got the punishment from that because Kevin nashal Scott Hall went
- 10:11to WCW, so they're not in the company no more, so it don't
- 10:13matter to them. And Sean Michaels was the other one that was there and
- 10:16he was the Golden Boy at the time, he was the champion. They
- 10:20wasn't gonna do nothing to him, you know what I mean. So Triple
- 10:22H was the one that basically had to get punished for that whole event.
- 10:26And the crazy thing about that is it ties into what we was talking about
- 10:30earlier. That's what led to the rise of Stone Cold because since Triple H
- 10:35was getting punished, they put Stone Cold in that position instead of Triple H,
- 10:41which is man, it's crazy. And like you said, bro,
- 10:46watching the WrestleMania it was like, wow, man, this is actually like
- 10:48a story and it makes sense, and it's like it really just was something
- 10:54where you were watching it and actually along for the ride, you know what
- 10:58I mean. That's how it was back end of the day too. That's
- 11:01great. I'm trying to find I don't know if it was Complex or Bleacher
- 11:05Report they ranked like the top twenty five wrestlers of all time and it was
- 11:11the worst list ever, Uh, it's not here it was complex? What
- 11:20what was it here? We go? Nah? Nah? Anyway, I
- 11:28think like like the entertainment factor, it's it's not They're not trying to declare
- 11:35themselves as a sport, you know. They're not trying to emphasize on word
- 11:41sport. This is what you got at the entertainment of it now exactly.
- 11:45And in a press conference that's what Triple Ah shed. He's like, you
- 11:50know, we're in an era where we're gonna listen to the fans. And
- 11:54he's like, it's it's right up to the last minute. Maybe at the
- 11:56last minute we're gonna switch who wins. But he's like, we have a
- 12:01group now with Cody Roman, The Rock, Sad Drew, all these people
- 12:07now and they're with it. They're like, yo, we want of course,
- 12:11we all want to be champions, but if we can entertain the world,
- 12:15like at a different level, that something that haven't felt in a long
- 12:18ass time or ever, that's more important than anything else right now. And
- 12:24that is what is good about wrestling right now. That is why it's a
- 12:28good time to get back to watching wrestling WW because they are on a good
- 12:31path. Yeah, they definitely are. And man, that's a perfect segue
- 12:37because on the flip side of that we're looking at now, let's switch the
- 12:41lens to look at the NBA. Oh yeah, the NBA is kind of
- 12:46in that transition where these larger than life, legendary all time superstars are getting
- 12:54ready to retire. You know what I'm saying, all that crop of players
- 12:58right now, Lebron James, I mean, these guys are a little older.
- 13:05You know, it's transition into a new crop of players, you know
- 13:09what I mean. You know they're talking about who's going to be the new
- 13:11face, John Moran, Anthony Edwards, Jason Tatum, you know what I
- 13:16mean. You got a whole new lineup of basically like the guard dogs in
- 13:24the playoffs, you know what I mean. I always look at it that
- 13:26way in the NBA, like when you got those guys like Lebron Kobe Durant,
- 13:33like you're pretty sure that they're going to be in the playoffs and they're
- 13:37going to be somebody to be reckon with just because they're on the court.
- 13:41So they're just always there lurking, you know what I mean. And right
- 13:45now we got all those players that we're naming Curry, Lebron, Durant,
- 13:50all of them in the play in Bro. Yeah, they fight you for
- 13:54ten nine eight seven, like they fighting for low end playoff spots, Bro.
- 14:01And it's rough. And then, like Steve Kerr said it, like
- 14:03when he sits Curry and everybody questioned, like why are you you got Curry
- 14:09and load manage me. He's like, bro, I put like we put
- 14:13this team on his back for the last fifteen years. Like it comes to
- 14:18time where it shouldn't be put on his back anymore. Like we want to
- 14:22yeah, if we make it that far, And like everybody's saying, Laker's
- 14:24gonna knock the Warriors out easily. Lakers knocked the Warriors out. The Sons
- 14:31are gonna knock the Kings out with all their injuries, and then we're gonna
- 14:35have to Kevin Durant Lebron matchup, And everybody's saying, you gotta get through
- 14:39Lebron, like, because that's that's it right now if he's healthy. Uh,
- 14:43but once this is over, like, who do we got? I'm
- 14:48not gonna cap I'm a Magic hater, but I love how the Magic is
- 14:52running that squad. I love Pan Caro, my man, Pablo is running
- 14:56that squad. I like, I like his future. But at the end
- 14:58of the day, like we knows how long that lasts. Jahn Moran,
- 15:01same shit. You know what I'm saying. He's already on the point where
- 15:05it's like don't. I don't put my trust in him running to be in
- 15:09the face of the league anymore. Yeah, as far as the Magic go,
- 15:13what they gotta do is make a significant run before all those players got
- 15:18to get paid because they have so much young talent that like they've been so
- 15:24bad for so long that they stockpiled these first rounders, bro, And they're
- 15:28all like, they all got a couple of years under their belt already.
- 15:31So you're talking about a whole bunch of like solid, solid, solid NBA
- 15:35players on one team. They're gonna get paid, bro, So they got
- 15:39to make a move soon, definitely, like in the next like year or
- 15:43two. They gotta make a Eastern Conference finals run or even get to the
- 15:48finals, because they got the talent for it. But they got to do
- 15:50it before they all get paid. And what's spotally now, I think they're
- 15:56four North, right behind the Knicks. Yeah, they're fourth behind the Knicks,
- 16:00and my nick's a handle. Yeah yeah, man, it sucks that
- 16:03they have to like kind of scratch this season because of that, but I'm
- 16:07gonna be honest, they wasn't gonna win this year anyway, So yeah,
- 16:12back next year. You know what I'm saying next year they got a better
- 16:15chance. I feel like, yeah, I think we're building a good squad.
- 16:19This is our first year that started uh in January with this starting lineup,
- 16:25so it's like we got three months in with this squad. The cohesiveness
- 16:27and the chemistry's building. But yeah, I'm gonna just be uh, I'm
- 16:33gonna be sad man with all these stars retires, like you really gotta fall
- 16:37in love with you. It's gonna be like wrestling, you know what I'm
- 16:40saying when I like going back to that real quick. It's like when all
- 16:42our favorite stars retired and we had to watch and had to watch the up
- 16:47and coming to fall in love with it again, I'm gonna feel I'm gonna
- 16:51go through the same thing with NBA. Yep. Yeah, definitely gotta pick
- 16:56new favorites. You know. See you see who got that dog in them?
- 16:59Because like that's the thing, man, It's kind of we're at a
- 17:02place right now where there's not really a younger guy your Spurs. Yeah,
- 17:08but he's he's that team is a few years out for sure, but like
- 17:12there's not a lot of how old is Jokic because like I don't feel like
- 17:18there's been a young a young player that has won a title. You know
- 17:22what I'm saying. Let me see how Nicola Jokic here thinks he's like the
- 17:32youngest guy. I would venture to say, like in the last like ten
- 17:34years or so, he's probably like the youngest guy that that's been like finals
- 17:38MVP, yeah and regularly two time regular right yeah, but like all these
- 17:45other players like Tatum, he be folding Brown, he be folding right now.
- 17:53The reason I like the Knicks is because Brunton don't be folding. You
- 17:57know what I mean. If you've got a guy that's a rock on your
- 18:00team, but then he don't fold either, Yeah, that's a good.
- 18:03The only thing Brunson he's a little undersized, and that's yeah, always hurts
- 18:07him. But I think that's advantage of his intensity and his strength. I
- 18:11saw a stat today that averaging twenty four seasons. I mean, I think
- 18:18averaging twenty four points for two seasons, averaging over tennis is for two seasons,
- 18:22and under ten ten overs for two seasons. The only person that's ever
- 18:30did that was Jordan. Yeah. I mean it's when you see him control
- 18:36the game, you could really see like wow, I can't. Like you
- 18:41imagine if Luca and him were still together right now, what it would look
- 18:45like. Be crazy. But the Luca and Kyrie combo's crazy too. They're
- 18:52dropping fifty five, fifty, sixty games combined, sixty points combined, and
- 18:56what skeeed are they? I haven't even kept up with them, to be
- 18:57honest, I don't even know the fifth fifth, fifth, Okay, okay,
- 19:03the only like two games behind the Clippers. I know he's been Like
- 19:07I really just be seeing like the stats and like little highlights more than anything.
- 19:12As far as the MAVs go, I know that they've been super efficient
- 19:15lately. I know, I know the efficiency is picked up, and I
- 19:19know that's always that's always been when the Kyrie game goes haywire when he's not
- 19:27very efficient, you know what I mean. But that's man. There's definitely
- 19:33a lot of good teams too to look forward to seeing in the playoffs.
- 19:37I just I'm waiting to see who's going to prove themselves in the playoffs.
- 19:41But the game is so young, you know what I mean. It's like
- 19:45the the current atmosphere of the players are so young, and the greats are
- 19:53so older, and it's starting to phase out. And you know, we
- 19:56can kind of compare that to music, Like you go on the music and
- 20:00you see the majority of the artists are young kids, and now these old
- 20:07artists that we all love are starting to get phased out if they don't continue
- 20:11to drop or continue down with the new music. And I think that's like
- 20:17a plateau that every industry and every kind of fan base reaches. It's like,
- 20:23damn, we got to give up these old dudes and get with the
- 20:26young guys. Now. Yeah, it's definitely a thing where and it's funny
- 20:33how across these three things we've talked about, it's so different, you know
- 20:37what I mean. Like in WWE, the older guys came back to kind
- 20:41of boost everything and it was kind of like a synergy thing. The NBA,
- 20:45it's kind of like the older guard is on the way out. That
- 20:48talent in between is kind of unproven, so like the younger guys are kind
- 20:52of running it. So you have that kind of dynamic. And then with
- 20:56the music, it's like you still got those like older guys that are like
- 21:00the juggernauts, like Dre, Kanye jay Z, like guys that whenever they
- 21:06do something it's gonna be talked about, it's gonna be top of the charts.
- 21:10But you still got like these younger artists that are just building these crazy
- 21:15fan bases and doing these festival shows and you know, yeah, like they're
- 21:22just said, they make such a big impact, like anything they drop,
- 21:26everybody's fucking going crazy for it. Yeah, And it's something about you know,
- 21:33being tapped into the music to the point where you're connected to all these
- 21:37people as well. Like as far as Kanye goes, he's at this level
- 21:41where a lot of there's not a lot of people that are gonna say no
- 21:45to him as far as working with him in that hip hop space, you
- 21:48know what I mean. So he has this crazy playground as far as like
- 21:52putting music together where he has a lot of resources, Like he can almost
- 21:56do whatever he wants in his mind because he can find somebody to help him
- 22:02deliver it if he can't do it himself. So we get these like you
- 22:06know, you were mentioning the last time, the sounds on Kanye's album,
- 22:10It's like, Bro, He's literally going out of his way to get these
- 22:14sounds and to get them to sound the way that they sound, and to
- 22:17give the feel that he wants to you know, he's zoned in on that
- 22:22field, you know what I mean. And that's something that a lot of
- 22:26artists aren't even thinking about, you know what I mean. Now, they're
- 22:30just trying to keep up with the current times. And that's what we talked
- 22:33about, is like, is that what's changed about rap? You know?
- 22:38Is it that people just want to I don't think back then and now.
- 22:45Back then, it's only like maybe ten maybe max fifteen years ago people cared
- 22:49about keeping up whether everybody else sounded like Now it's like everybody's trying to.
- 22:59I mean, I feel like pas, it's almost it's pretty much at the
- 23:03end of this phase out. But there was a little phase where it was
- 23:06like a lot of artists were almost counterculture to what sounds good even and they
- 23:14were even just trying to come with these harsh sounds and crazy melodies and things
- 23:21like kind of like out of the norm to specifically go against it as opposed
- 23:26to whenever you had like for example, punk rock when it went on the
- 23:30rise or rap when it went on the rise, Like there was still a
- 23:36very musical element to these music forms, you know what I mean, Like
- 23:41rap had a very musical element to it. There was an art to it.
- 23:44Punk rock, very musical element. There was an art to it.
- 23:48But recently it doesn't have that. It doesn't come from that spirit. It's
- 23:52kind of more just like anti music music, if that makes sense, you
- 23:56know what I mean. Like you got a lot of rappers that even say
- 23:59like, oh, I'm not a rapper, like you know what I mean.
- 24:02They want to go against the green and they want to be an interrupter
- 24:04exactly. And like I said, we're definitely on the tail end of that.
- 24:10There's a lot of people dropping some dope music now as opposed to like
- 24:15the twenty tens, you know what I mean. I feel like that was
- 24:18definitely like a whack era. You know, a lot of stuff isn't really
- 24:22revisitible in my opinion, you know what I mean, just like the way
- 24:25the sound went with a lot of different things. But now, like in
- 24:29the twenty twenties, I feel like there's definitely been a few projects that are
- 24:33like standout joints, different things that are sounding you know, just sounding dope
- 24:37and giving you that feeling. Again, I definitely feel like hip hop and
- 24:42rap in general, there was there's a thing where I almost feel like the
- 24:48Hip Hop fiftieth anniversary was almost like a tribute to it, and it's kind
- 24:53of dead as far as what it really what that was celebrating, you feel
- 24:57what I'm saying, Like what was being celebrated at the hip Hop fifty that's
- 25:02not hip hop no more. That's like a memorial exactly, Like it was
- 25:06almost a memorial. Yeah, it's crazy. Me and wife was literally watching
- 25:10it the other night. That's why when it sleep late the other night watching
- 25:14Yeah, just all these old like dedications to all these like old times of
- 25:18rapping, like damn, it's like yeah, but like the Nelly performance and
- 25:22all the Nelly's hits, and I was like, oh man, yeah,
- 25:26like artists like that right now eras gone, Like that kind of music is
- 25:30gone. Like rap came from a certain feeling, It came from a certain
- 25:34place. It was a certain vibe, and then it just got to a
- 25:38point where it wasn't what it was anymore, you know what I mean.
- 25:41And it's like anything else when it starts buzzing, and it started, you
- 25:45know, when it goes corporate basically, you know what I mean. Anytime
- 25:48something goes corporate, it loses that vibe and it loses that energy. And
- 25:52hip hop is one of those things where I don't know if it's hip hop
- 25:56or it's just things in general that once it goes mainstream, even if you
- 26:03try to like stay in that you know before phase, Like even like going
- 26:08back to punk rock, like punk rock is not going to hit the same
- 26:11as like when it was like illegal to do it, you know what I'm
- 26:15saying, Like when they wasn't letting people play it anywhere and it was like
- 26:18so counterculture that they associated it with like drugs and games and murders like that
- 26:26shit. That was my EMAO era. It was punk rock. Yeah,
- 26:30bro, it's like it's it's definitely. It's definitely something that I consider when
- 26:37I listen to rap now and hip hop and just when I realize how much
- 26:42of the newer stuff I just don't it doesn't resonate with me a lot of
- 26:48just like the sound in general. And I always say that's why I stop
- 26:51rapping, you know what I mean. Like it definitely wasn't because I was
- 26:55whack, you know what I'm saying. It was just something where I just
- 27:00didn't have that feeling anymore because it wasn't what it was anymore, you know
- 27:03I was. I feel like for me, it was like really easy for
- 27:07me to recognize, Oh, this ain't for me no more, you know
- 27:08what I mean? Like if I want to be in this space, I
- 27:11got to be doing something else and that's not what I signed up for,
- 27:15you know what I mean? Yeah, do you everything? You get back
- 27:18to that? Depending that the climate changes of rap and happening, I don't
- 27:21think so, bro. I think it kind of goes back to what I
- 27:23said, like where like rap is dead as far as what it used to
- 27:27be, you know what I mean. Like for me, maybe it's because
- 27:32I'm not in those kind of circles anymore. Maybe it's because I don't know
- 27:36a lot of rappers anymore. Like you know, maybe it's just being away
- 27:38from it. But I just feel like that energy is not really there anymore.
- 27:42Like even when you hear music, like you're not hearing somebody drop a
- 27:47project like something that Jadakiss was dropping or Fabulous was dropping, you know what
- 27:51I'm saying. Like even like this run that Nas went on recently, like
- 27:56it was so dope and it was so successful because nobody was doing it and
- 28:00he had it like a newer producer working with him, so it was like
- 28:03he updated it and was in that lane and it was like, oh man,
- 28:07that was so refreshing because it was actually like real rap and people who
- 28:11are fans of that, they can hear it. You know what I mean?
- 28:15You know what else? You never heard it? You never heard the
- 28:18rapper take this back, yo. But I'm tight that Quincy didn't end up
- 28:23being able to make it today. He went to Dreamville Fest and he was
- 28:27there. He was there for the person for the apology. But that's what
- 28:33I mean. It's like, did he do that because he knows how the
- 28:38game is now and how people react, and he's like, I don't want
- 28:41the reaction, Like I don't want like to be the heel of the rap
- 28:47game because that came at the Babyface and that's how the rap game is at.
- 28:52Before you could drop this is let people pick their size, and it
- 28:55was good, but now people get mad at you for saying something, no
- 28:59matter how good. What you said was like you can't even speak your piece
- 29:03and people cancel you just for even saying something. Yeah, I think for
- 29:07him, man, like he he messed up because first of all, he
- 29:15kind of led to this, So which is that's like the weakest sting to
- 29:18me overall, Bro, Like you're the one that's always been doing all this
- 29:22talking on the records, Like you're telling stories on records, you know what
- 29:26I'm saying? Like, which I don't have no problem with, Bro.
- 29:30Game is one of my favorite rappers of all time. Dog. All he
- 29:33does is talk about other people and drop names like I don't know, I
- 29:37don't I just I like Game, Bro, you know, So the name
- 29:41dropping that's the same thing as favorite dude, Bro. Yeah, And it's
- 29:45like the name dropping school with me. So like if Jay Cole want to
- 29:48talk about these stories and talk about these rappers and do all this stuff on
- 29:52the records, cool man. Like even the Lettino's Down was like the first
- 29:55record that really made me even check him out because because I'm a huge NAS
- 29:59fan. So it's like I hear j Cole let Na's Down, That's gonna
- 30:03piauk my interest off rip. So that's what kind of even made me pay
- 30:06attention to him. Before that, I wasn't really rocking with his music,
- 30:08you know what I mean. Like I'm real big on when you rap,
- 30:14Dog, Like you got to rap about something like I don't want to hear
- 30:18that you're a great rapper. I don't want to hear like I don't want
- 30:22to hear nothing as far as me, Like I know that I'm very specific
- 30:25as far as a rap fan, and I know that what I'm saying doesn't
- 30:27apply to ninety percent of people. I understand it. But for me,
- 30:32I'm listening to rap because I want to hear you saying something like you know
- 30:37what I mean, Like, I don't want to hear you talk about how
- 30:38cool you are rapping. You know what I'm saying, Like there's a certain
- 30:42bravado that gotta come with rap, and he just didn't have it for me
- 30:47for a long time. And then he's J Cole, Yeah, he J
- 30:49Cole just did not have that bravado of a rapper that I look for for
- 30:53a long time. And then after I heard Letna's down, I started checking
- 30:57out some of his stuff around on that like twenty fourteen Forrest Hills Drive era
- 31:02was when I was like, oh okay, Like he found that voice,
- 31:04you know what I'm saying, and I was rocking with him. Kendrick,
- 31:07on the other hand, he had that off rip like he was talking.
- 31:11He was coming from a real place in his music. He was like,
- 31:15you know what was going on, what he was about, and he just
- 31:19resonated off rip. So it's just funny to me that Jay Cole, this
- 31:26whole time he's been talking about how great of a rapper he is, and
- 31:29like how he's like the guy, and how like he's just been wanting to
- 31:33prove he's the guy, and how he's like crafting his pen game because he's
- 31:37the guy. But just the whole time, Kendrick just been doing it.
- 31:41And it's like that insecurity in j Cole is what led him to this confrontation.
- 31:48And I feel like that's why he's like walking it back because it's like
- 31:52he's he this is not what he wanted, you know what I mean.
- 31:55He just wanted people to recognize that he was a dope rapper and he wanted
- 31:59people to reconiz him as the best. But it's like, dog, if
- 32:00you trying to be the best, this is what comes with being the best.
- 32:05That's why I always command Drake because I don't like Drake as an artist,
- 32:09Like for me, it's not my type of music. But he realizes
- 32:13that for him to be in that top spot. He gotta be on a
- 32:16certain type of vibe and he's with it because he knows he's the top dog
- 32:20and he knows it comes with it, you know what I mean. Like
- 32:22he hasn't responded yet, but you know somehow he's gonna make it work for
- 32:30him because that's what Drake does, and that's what you know. He's on
- 32:34top of the game and he's been able to like maintain this run because he's
- 32:38he understands what it takes to be that top dog. J Cole is not
- 32:44that guy. But I don't think Jake Cole ever cared about that either though,
- 32:49but he does, Bro, that's what he's telling he I know,
- 32:52but he pretended, like I'm saying, from what I've heard, he's never
- 32:57cared about that, but he is. I kind of feel like it's it's
- 33:02kind of like what I'm saying, like he just he wants to be that
- 33:06guy, but he's not built for that. Now. He feels like music
- 33:09for him to join that drink tour goes against everything what he said. He
- 33:15was riding a fucking bicycle through Times Square in bummy clothes. Yeah, but
- 33:24us where he's like, I'm a fan. He always says I'm a fan,
- 33:29you know what I'm saying, and maybe that fan. It's it's kind
- 33:32of like, and I hate to compare this dog like and not because it's
- 33:37not. It's not even in the same exact sense, but just from this
- 33:39angle, like that killer instinct, the thing that they say Lebron don't have,
- 33:44and the knock that a lot of people have against him, it's like
- 33:46the same DJ cole is on it. It's like he always wants to like
- 33:51say I'm the best, but also like, nah, let me praise this
- 33:53guy, let me praise that guy, let me be humble. But it's
- 33:55like, nah, if you want to be that guy, you gotta just
- 33:59come out of I'm that guy and be unapologetic about it, you know what
- 34:02I mean. That's why I went like, uh, jay Z and Nas
- 34:07came out, and I'm still gonna say when jay Z dropped that got yourself
- 34:15a Gun freestyle, that was the worst shit ever heard. But he wasn't
- 34:22stopping. He wasn't stopping, you know what I mean. And there's a
- 34:28lot of people that say jay Z won that battle. Yeah, And I
- 34:31told you I grew up in NAS fan. I had to picture of me
- 34:35the NAS concert with a Queen's jersey on Repping Queens repgnized, But it was
- 34:40after I heard uh Ether was amazing. But after I heard Takeover then I
- 34:47was like, okay, okay, Takeover was different from me. And that's
- 34:53what I shifted. I literally shifted. I shifted from the Queens to the
- 34:58Bronx strictly off Takeover. Yeah, there's an underrated song in that saga called
- 35:04the Cross that's on Gods Yeah, and he's like, it's like not a
- 35:09this, but he just kind of talks about that situation and it's like a
- 35:14super dope song. If y'all haven't checked that song out, it's pretty dope.
- 35:17It's kind of like a calm and it sounds like the Takeover b too.
- 35:23Oh yeah, yeah, it doesn't kind of have a similar like vibe
- 35:28to it. You're right, yeah, I ne never even like really picked
- 35:30up on that. But yeah, bro, I think age and experience and
- 35:38the youth of what's taking over the industry is affecting everything from wrestling to the
- 35:45NBA, the music. It's crazy. And then to trap it all up
- 35:51for another elder legacy, wrapping it up because the cur of your enthusiasm ending.
- 36:00Man, man, amazing. Did you get to watch it? No,
- 36:06but I've seen plenty of ready. I saw Jerry Seinfeld was on there.
- 36:12I saw behind the scenes clip of when the last shot was cut and
- 36:16the airplane and Lewis. I might actually, I might not even get on
- 36:27the game after this. Some mighty just start watching that ship. Yeah,
- 36:30and it was dope. Man. I love that. I'm a yeah man.
- 36:32And it's crazy, like it was unprecedented because it was like an older
- 36:37cast already when they started the show, and that was even kind of like
- 36:40unprecedent, especially like HBO, like it's just like older you know, comedians
- 36:46and writers was the show. And but bro, it just worked. And
- 36:51it's such a funny show. It's so relatables, it's so it's written so
- 36:55well, even though it's so goofy. Man, it's it's it's dope.
- 37:00And I'm gonna plant this set out there because I kind of feel like they
- 37:05planted it the way Jerry was involved in that ending. Oh man, you
- 37:10haven't seen it yet. Well, this is not going to ruin anything,
- 37:13because I'm not gonna spoil anything. No, I already saw, like the
- 37:16picture of the scene and they talked about it, so I know, Yeah,
- 37:20the way Jerry Sonfeld was involved with the Curby Your Enthusiasm finale, it
- 37:24kind of made me feel like they were kind of leaving the door open and
- 37:29say, hey, maybe this show will still live on. But you know's
- 37:34version. You know what I'm saying. When you when you watch it,
- 37:38just kind of remember I said that, and you kind of look at it
- 37:42through that lens because I don't know, Bro, I feel like they could
- 37:45pull a fast one if Bro, if Jerry gets the blessing from Larry and
- 37:50he just says, I want to do that. I mean, Bro,
- 37:52I mean there's play like all the Tonight shows or the late night shows they
- 37:57just handed down to somebody else. Yep, it's not the end of a
- 38:00show. They just handed down to somebody else and they continue the same show.
- 38:02That would be that would be legendary. First herb fan like just oh
- 38:10man, Well know, just for context, we know who wrote all the
- 38:14Sidfeld episodes, Yes, sir, And for those who don't know, George
- 38:19Constanza is based off of Larry David. Like it was a lot of Larry
- 38:22David's real life stories that he used for George Costanza. Jason Alexander, who
- 38:28played George Costanza, went to Larry one time and was like, Yo,
- 38:31I don't even know how to act in this scene because this situation you're presenting
- 38:37me is so outlandish, Like who would ever be in this situation and react
- 38:40like that? And Larry now me, this situation happened to me and I
- 38:45reacted like it. That's my wife is not a big fan of Curb and
- 38:50I dont matter how much try to get to if he's say these situations are
- 38:52so crazy, but that's what it is. Like, He's the type of
- 38:55saying He's like, what the fuck? What's the pointed? Is shit?
- 38:59He will say, why are we doing this? Why is this situation even
- 39:02happening? Like he would sit there and call shit out and make the most
- 39:07absurd points that everybody is too afraid to make. And that was why the
- 39:13writing was so good. He wrote stuff that everybody thought but everybody was too
- 39:17afraid of. Right, this is what I loved. We will wrap up
- 39:21with this, but this is what I love about Curb. And if I
- 39:23ever got to speak to Larry David, this is what I would ask him
- 39:28if he purposely made the show like this because I feel like this was the
- 39:31Larry David character and this was the gist of the show. Larry would always
- 39:37make a point of something, and when you analyze what he said, he
- 39:42was always in the right. Always every time, if you analyze the situation,
- 39:47he was in the right. Like for yo, just off the top
- 39:50of my head, the episode where he went to the beach brought his jacket
- 39:52because he knew it was going to be cold. A lady took his jacket
- 39:57without asking because it was cold, so he was left in the court and
- 40:00then she gets chocolate on the jacket and ruins it and she acted like everything
- 40:05was cool, and he was like, you should replace the jacket, bro.
- 40:08It makes sense, but it's what he does after, like his reaction
- 40:13to it is always what makes him end up being in the wrong. And
- 40:16I feel like that was the formula of the show. It's like, he
- 40:20has a valid point, but let me fumble it and it ends up being
- 40:23like the wrong situation. Nah, it's great? Is it? So?
- 40:28Like everybody has to watch it because you can relate and say, yeah,
- 40:31man, you know what, he's right. I will kind of react the
- 40:35same way in that situation if I had the bass to do it. But
- 40:37guess what, he had the balls to do it, and not a lot
- 40:39of comedians had the balls to be that kind of way and write that kind
- 40:44of content. YO, salute to an era Larry David. Hopefully the Rebirth
- 40:52will be soon. I'm with it, I'm watching that, and hopefully Larry
- 40:57Davis stays better. Act act after APT pupy, puspy not not puspy,
- 42:43not not at not not put not not act oh bing
