  I'm doing fantastic this week. There's been a lot happening so

  much happening in and around the World of Warcraft and the big

  big thing. The big thing is the dragon

  flight actually happened. It doesn't feel real still.

  It doesn't feel. Will real like I'm I feel like

  I'm still dreaming about it even though like this was we didn't
• 1:07
  have like a protracted like testing period.

  We had probably actually the shortest testing period out of
• 1:13
  any expansion to date and And yet I feel I feel like that's
• 1:21
  why I'm like in such like such a weird head space around it
• 1:26
  actually being here was because like I'm used to, I'm used to
• 1:31
  like very long very protracted beta phases and we didn't get
• 1:36
  that this time around and we're we have it.

  It's here. It's in her hand playing it

  actually making progress, like I've been playing in the beta
• 1:46
  for, you know. Since the beginning.

  But like, Now, we're actually making progress.

  Now, we're leveling our characters, and it's for real
• 1:54
  this time. And we can't just like go make a
• 1:58
  level 70, and do testing and stuff.

  We have to, like, actually work to get there and that's, that's

  an experience in and of itself. But, yeah, I've been, I've been
• 2:11
  like from minute one from go. I've been leveling and invoker,
• 2:17
  finally, settled took it took Some.

  It took some some anxiety, some, some anxiety talks with friends
• 2:31
  and guildmates and whatnot and finally arrived at leveling of
• 2:35
  ogres. So that's what I've been doing
• 2:37
  for the last couple of days is just getting through the story
• 2:41
  because with with beta testing it I don't particularly like
• 2:44
  going through and like I'll do Quest but I won't read the
• 2:47
  quest-x. I won't I won't like listen to
• 2:49
  the audio or anything. I save all That for their save.
• 2:53
  But as much as of that, as I can, for my initial playthrough
• 2:58
  and that's been my experience has just been going through.
• 3:04
  Actually paying attention to the story that's happening in great
• 3:08
  detail and trying to absorb as much as I can.
• 3:13
  How about you, how is, how is the World of Warcraft?

  Treating you? Well, I am definitely going to
• 3:20
  get to that but I'd love to hear a little bit more about it.

  Since you're you're going through and actually paying
• 3:24
  attention to story like you've chosen your vocre.

  Now what level are you at where which is owner you in, I am a
• 3:34
  sliver of a bar away from 68 and I am in.
• 3:41
  I'm in Unarmed planes is the zone that I'm in currently and
• 3:46
  I'm like, at the tail end of that one.
• 3:48
  So I'll start, I'll start with the Azure span very, very soon.
• 3:55
  And that's like the ones own that I did.
• 3:58
  Pay attention to the story in the beta, because, for reasons,
• 4:04
  there's, there's a lot of really cool things that happen in the
• 4:07
  Azure span and some looking Forward to actually getting into
• 4:14
  the nitty-gritty of it. Like I know the broad Strokes of
• 4:16
  everything but like the details is what what I'm looking forward
• 4:22
  to the most with it. And are you getting used to
• 4:26
  playing your vocre? I know it's the class people
• 4:29
  said oh you have very few defensives if your questing that
• 4:33
  means you don't you normally have a party with you or are you
• 4:36
  playing with friends? Like how is your playstyle going
• 4:39
  right now? I'm playing solo and I basically
• 4:44
  am. I'm corpse running the things
• 4:48
  that I that I need to Corpus friend and I am otherwise just
• 4:53
  like hoping that I can be. Everything that I pull, and
• 4:56
  sometimes getting overzealous with my pools and having to
• 4:59
  having to get back to my corpse and everything.

  But otherwise, it's really fun. It's really surprisingly fun for
• 5:08
  a class. That doesn't really have as much
• 5:12
  ability to as much ability to Defend itself.
• 5:20
  It still has it still has a good amount of self-healing, having
• 5:25
  the the toggle that automatically switch switches,
• 5:27
  you back to your village form. When you're out of combat, it
• 5:33
  increases your regeneration outside of combat and expose my
• 5:36
  identity jump right into it. Yeah.
• 5:38
  So you you are like back up to full health and no time bit
• 5:42
  between poles and everything the hmm.
• 5:46
  The big thing, the big thing that I knew New was going to
• 5:49
  just like take hold with me and why I'm only level 68 and not
• 5:53
  level. 70 yet is that I have been spending entirely too much
• 5:57
  time flying around, I went and did every single time trial.

  Got all of my God, all the glyphs the the dragon writing
• 6:07
  glyphs around the aisles did all the time.
• 6:10
  Trials in zones, you haven't been to yet.
• 6:14
  Yes, even in those that haven't quested through yet, haven't
• 6:16
  haven't gone through. Didn't didn't go get flight
• 6:19
  points, didn't go like start picking up quests and all the
• 6:22
  different hubs just flew around doing time trials.
• 6:25
  That's all I did. I spent like it's solid like
• 6:28
  five hours just doing that. Are you finding because it's
• 6:31
  difficult or no, I'm fine. Well, Well some of them are I'm
• 6:35
  finding like I'll have to do them like once they're like two
• 6:39
  or three times take like get their rhythm of like, okay, this
• 6:42
  is where all of the the preset like boosts.
• 6:45
  Our, this is where I need to use my own boosts to like capitalize
• 6:51
  on on my speed and make sure that I'm, you know, at top speed
• 6:57
  for as much time as I possibly can.

  So it's taking a little bit to learn them, but once I get them,
• 7:02
  I think I think there's like a couple that I have to go back
• 7:05
  and get gold on but all the ones that I'm passing and passing it
• 7:09
  a minimum of silver. So there's a couple that I'll
• 7:13
  need to go back and get gold on but otherwise I did it.
• 7:19
  Oh it's so good. It's so good.

  That's that's amazing. So then I guess with grabbing
• 7:28
  all your glyphs, how long did that take you?
• 7:30
  Because it doesn't take too long in general and now to be better
• 7:37
  very about an hour. Yeah.
• 7:39
  And they are like accessible even if you have like just the
• 7:41
  basic level of flying, you can go around and grab them.
• 7:48
  So you were able to just did you.
• 7:50
  So when did you go grab them? They do you say let's soon as
• 7:53
  they think, A view, the intro to Dragon riding is like, okay, you
• 7:55
  grab glyphs you like yep. And then you just went around
• 7:57
  and grab them all, or were you like grabbing some and then
• 8:00
  doing races and then, grabbing the next one and then doing
• 8:03
  races, like, how was this? Go.
• 8:06
  So how that played out, how that played out is, I got so you
• 8:10
  unlock dragon writing within within like the first like 30
• 8:13
  minutes of game time in the expansion and they start like
• 8:20
  introducing you to the idea of doing the time trials and
• 8:22
  everything and you get a quest that has you go through the
• 8:25
  waking Shores and do a bunch of time trials.
• 8:30
  And I didn't have any of the glyphs and Really, really,
• 8:36
  really wanted to wanted to start cracking into the the time
• 8:39
  trials. So, I did like one guy did like
• 8:44
  two or three actually, and finished, just barely getting
• 8:49
  Bronze in the ones that I did. And was just like, there's no
• 8:53
  way, there's no way that these are this difficult.
• 8:55
  There's like I'm missing something and then I remembered
• 9:00
  one of our, one of our Guild mates in Your crew together had
• 9:06
  posted a both an image that had like a full flight path with the
• 9:10
  locations for all of the the glyphs on it.
• 9:14
  And also an add-on that like, basically superimposes that onto
• 9:18
  your map and game. And so I went and use that
• 9:23
  resource to find ALT find where all the glyphs were and
• 9:28
  everything and went through. Grab them all up in an hour and
• 9:31
  then went in the next time trial that That I could find and
• 9:38
  Breeze through it. No problem.
• 9:40
  Not a not an issue at all whatsoever.
• 9:45
  Nice. So just at the beginning,
• 9:48
  struggling is struggling to try and reach bronze.
• 9:51
  Once you got all your upgrades able to hit Gold without
• 9:56
  anywhere near the same level of difficulty.

  No, not at all. Yeah, it's I would I would say

  that there, it's one of those things of like, okay.
• 10:09
  So you know you know how we had the Iron Man challenge back in
• 10:14
  the day. Yeah.

  Level without dying with a bunch of Hoops statistics, or rather
• 10:21
  stipulation or stiff. Yes.

  Yes. Like going through without like
• 10:26
  you can't equip anything that is Magic quality or greater or like
• 10:32
  green gear you can clear. green beer or greater it has to be
• 10:36
  gray or or white or common and Has to be like the whole bunch
• 10:48
  of other things that you like you can't you can't like use or
• 10:53
  stuff to say that say friends between R and Manning and going
• 10:57
  with full gear. Yes, I would say that the real
• 11:01
  Challenge and something that I feel like they should give you
• 11:07
  the option to turn off. All of your your dragon writing
• 11:10
  talents in Just in case but something that I would like to
• 11:16
  see is a kind of like feat of strength or some like maybe just
• 11:22
  an achievement, not even two feet of string, just an
• 11:24
  achievement for just like going in.
• 11:26
  Just at the base dragon writing and getting gold on all the
• 11:30
  challenges because it's possible.
• 11:33
  Is definitely possible. It's just way easier to do if
• 11:37
  you have Max dragon writing. So that's something that that is
• 11:42
  a suggestion that I would have to to Blizzard.

  Let us challenge try. Yes, let us try bare-bones.

  Like, give us, give us the option to say, do you want to do

  this this way? Or do you want to do it with the

  challenge modifier for furniture is a Sorry for dragging writing

  bare-bones, though. Did you enjoy that?

  Did you find it was like too limiting at first?

  No, I loved it. I loved it.

  I didn't spend any points while I was going through Gathering up
• 12:22
  all the all the glyphs, I had died just like flew around where
• 12:25
  I could and like did a yes I did have to do some like creative
• 12:32
  perching in order to recharge my Vigor but otherwise Eyes.

  I was able to like maintain like a pretty good velocity and and
• 12:44
  get like pretty decent height just with the standard like for
• 12:48
  Vigor Bubbles and nothing else. Okay, yeah.

  I have friends who were playing, who very much felt that the
• 12:59
  basic Dragon riding was the, it was a bit to construct can
• 13:04
  constricting, sorry, felt that it was so quick to get the
• 13:09
  Glyphs that. Why even bother have have the
• 13:12
  glyphs if you can get them so quickly that you could get them
• 13:14
  in such a short period of time? I wonder about that.
• 13:19
  I think that like you, like you said, you could go halfway up
• 13:25
  the mountain, find a perch for recharge and then go up the
• 13:27
  other half of the mountain was a trick that I had used as well.
• 13:33
  As soon as I found out that you didn't have to return to the
• 13:36
  place to customize your, your Make where it's like, where you
• 13:41
  customize, your drink. You didn't have to return there
• 13:42
  to like spend points. I never went back.
• 13:45
  I was just like, okay, I've got like three or four or five and I
• 13:48
  would spend it right there and then one of the highest peaks
• 13:51
  were one of the latest ones I realized that if I timed my
• 13:56
  upward momentum right. I could actually continue to
• 14:00
  gain bigger at a rate that meant that I could just basically
• 14:05
  climb for near eternity so it it is incredibly more free when you
• 14:11
  are fully powered. But I spent such a short period
• 14:14
  of time at that level and the fact that they are account-wide
• 14:19
  means that I'm never going to be back at that level that.
• 14:22
  Yeah, I've been asking people like, okay, like, hey you, you
• 14:26
  haven't done all the searching, you haven't gone for the cliffs,
• 14:28
  what do you feel about it? So I would like to ask our
• 14:33
  listeners, how they are feeling about low.
• 14:38
  Ranked low training, dragon riding how quickly they went and
• 14:45
  got all the glyphs. And if they would like what you
• 14:50
  were describing as sort of a challenge mode, Mists of
• 14:52
  Pandaria limit, the amount of power that you have style, and
• 14:58
  try and do dragon races with times adjusted for that.

  Because, as you said, you weren't even really able to
• 15:03
  like, get a comfortable bronze at the base level originally And
• 15:08
  that might change with enough learning the courses and
• 15:13
  learning how to drag and ride. It might be that they don't
• 15:16
  quite limit it to the for Vigor. Maybe they have it as a mid
• 15:20
  level 5 with like an extra perk or two.
• 15:25
  But it's something to look at outside of the races, though,
• 15:32
  you being level 68 and still having two zones left.
• 15:38
  I think implies that you were like myself and like many of our
• 15:42
  friends where you went around, and you did a ton of side
• 15:45
  quests. Oh yeah, my right there.

  Oh, oh yeah. I kind of went overboard with
• 15:52
  side quests. Actually kind of a little bit
• 15:56
  overboard, could they? Okay, so not to not to drag on
• 16:00
  the main story. I see one there.

  Okay. Dragon dragon.

  Yep, got not to drag on the The main story that has been
• 16:10
  presented and dragonflight, but we just spent we just spent an
• 16:17
  expansion followed where like the vast majority of the time
• 16:21
  that we were that we were playing.

  We were chasing around the main story, like, like Shield icons
• 16:30
  the whole time and it's great. It's fantastic.
• 16:36
  Don't get me wrong. But I love me a good side quest
• 16:40
  and that's something like even even going back as far as that
• 16:46
  of her as I think that's when they kind of started doing like
• 16:49
  hey here's the main story, the main quest line that you're
• 16:52
  going to be doing. We're going to Mark the quest
• 16:54
  using this now and then side quest will just be regular even
• 17:01
  going back to that point in the game's history I basically just
• 17:08
  Disregarded. The, the story until I couldn't
• 17:12
  disregard it anymore and like until it was basically the only
• 17:15
  thing left. And so I've kind of just like
• 17:17
  built the habit of doing that over time over the last, the
• 17:21
  course of the last few expansions, I even did that in
• 17:23
  shadowlands going through leveling my first time through.
• 17:27
  I just, I just focused on on side quests, and not really
• 17:32
  doing anything else and even with threads of Fate In
• 17:34
  shadowlands, I didn't get I did the one time the one time.
• 17:39
  The first time I went through shadowlands, main story Quest,
• 17:43
  was the only time that I actually did that.
• 17:45
  Every other character that I brought to level 60, Only
• 17:49
  threads of Fate. Only third debate because I
• 17:51
  don't like, I don't like, I don't like the cuz it's, it's
• 17:55
  just, it's restrictive in. It's like railroading, this of
• 17:57
  like, you can't, you have to go do this thing.

  You can't just like stopped off at a little rest area and pick
• 18:06
  up a quest or two. And go do those two things and
• 18:10
  like, oh, there's another thing over there.
• 18:12
  If I go do that, and while I'm on the way there, I see two or
• 18:17
  three nodes. Two or three mining nodes that I
• 18:21
  can pick up which is like the way that I like to explore the
• 18:26
  world and get to know the area that I'm going around.
• 18:31
  And is is by doing that kind of activity, where the main story
• 18:37
  quests are very railroad e. We're gonna like you're doing
• 18:40
  this thing. There's a bunch of beautiful,
• 18:42
  cutscenes wonderfully, voice act two characters, all over the
• 18:47
  place in this story. --Eline.

  And it's captivating and wonderful and I love it.
• 18:55
  But I want to go do some mining while I'm while I'm doing some
• 18:57
  other stuff. And the mining nodes are not in
• 19:01
  the path, start on the path of the main story quests.
• 19:05
  So I'm not as inclined to just stay on and do that the whole
• 19:10
  time. okay, so then You like this sort of freeform, not
• 19:19
  brushed. Not like the dire threat hanging
• 19:23
  over, has the main story as far as you've been dealing with it,
• 19:29
  have you felt that it's being a lot of that has it been just die
• 19:33
  or threaded each time or has there being sort of a little bit
• 19:37
  of buildup? Would you compare the Pacing of
• 19:42
  this this expansion zones for the ones that you've played
• 19:47
  through again. You've only played through to.
• 19:49
  Would you play it? What do you have it?

  Kind of like the quote unquote intensity pacing of shadowlands
• 19:57
  or something, a little bit slower.

  Like even something like cataclysm where there is a bad
• 20:05
  force in there, but as you go through the Zone, it's not like
• 20:11
  end of the world. And dire there is a chance for
• 20:13
  you to like help the little dryad and her like I will save
• 20:16
  the animals like we had in in cataclysm the way that I would
• 20:22
  put that like my experience with the main story.

  So far in in dragon Isles, is really that there are like there
• 20:33
  are blocks of dire threat. Where there's like there will be
• 20:42
  a block of like anywhere from like 3 to 6 quests.

  That there's just like from start to to end.
• 20:51
  There's like, okay, there's something that I got to do now.
• 20:56
  and there's some immediacy to it, but like in between those
• 21:01
  blocks, there's always like, a, like, 122 Quest stint of just
• 21:08
  like Okay, threats threats been dealt with and here's, here's
• 21:16
  some like cookie crumbs that we can throw down and maybe lead
• 21:22
  you to the next kind of thing. Like a good example is the
• 21:30
  Spoiler spoiler warning, plug your ears of the next Pope, no,

  no, no Edwards. Okay, let's allow people to
• 21:38
  enjoy the yeah, leveling at their own pace.

  Okay. Well then well, then, okay, then

  But either way, use a previous expansion that you felt had

  similar pacing and say, like it's sort of like this.

  But that's the thing is that I don't think that there is so

  clearly? It's not a definite, the

  shadowlands it's definitely between the extreme of

  shadowlands and I did, you know, actually I would say this

  probably will appear like this lowest there was never an

  immediate threat in read. Write and shadowlands being like

  Oh my goodness, turn around. Big, bad craziness.

  Oh my goodness. What we thought was a big bad as

  be controlled by a bigger bigger.

  Bad right. There was always, like, some

  thing being forcing you along, like, you turn your head and you

  got to go racing this way. You turn your head, you gotta go

  racing this way. But even in shadowlands, there

  were moments where it's like, hey, do you want to help these
• 22:48
  two competing guys? One train one trains, these
• 22:54
  flying Beast. One likes Robots and there and
• 22:58
  they have the competition even in Shadow lands.

  They were those moments of respite there was 00.
• 23:04
  Yeah, you're delivering a message to the Winter.

  Queen. Well, come along with me.

  We're playing tricks and all these Bogaerts, right?

  So even in Shadow lamps, there was some Slow Our Moment.

  Some pause some like moments of levity moments of levity and

  there remember the play yes. Right could forget who could

  forget the play Manny. So I mean like everybody's going
• 23:34
  to like point it point of shadowlands.

  I didn't just be like a oh my goodness.

  The world is ending and stuff but like, yes, shadowlands had
• 23:40
  its levity, right? And vanilla had, it's my
• 23:44
  goodness there. Going to raise ragnaros and he's
• 23:48
  going to plunge the world into chaos.
• 23:49
  We can't let this happen, right? As much as this, as much as
• 23:54
  their mechanics, to actually tell the story in vanilla
• 23:57
  allowed, right, right. So, somewhere in that Spectrum,

  you've got to find something where it's like, okay?

  I would say, I would say it's between it's between Mists of
• 24:15
  Pandaria and battle for Azeroth, in terms of pacing.

  There's there are definite like they're definite breaks in the
• 24:30
  story where like I would, I would describe mr.
• 24:35
  Panda areas questing like, the the leveling up Quest.
• 24:40
  There was definitely a through line with it.
• 24:45
  But there were a lot more. It was kind of it was kind of
• 24:50
  just like everything. Everything was was happening all
• 24:58
  the time and there was kind of like a sense of the world being
• 25:03
  alive around your existence like it the the story and things
• 25:09
  happening in Mississippi and Aria didn't didn't depend on
• 25:16
  your character being there to witness it, like there are
• 25:19
  things happening off camera a lot and I feel like That's
• 25:25
  something that is happening, but not in a way of like, oh, this
• 25:30
  like incredibly important thing is happening off camera and
• 25:36
  we're not going to tell you about it because we don't want
• 25:38
  to ruin the suspense kind of way like what we had in a few points
• 25:43
  in shadowlands. But I like, I don't want to
• 25:48
  compare, I don't want to compare the story of dragon flight.
• 25:52
  So it at least that I've experienced so far to
• 25:56
  shadowlands because I don't even I don't even know why I don't
• 26:02
  really want to do that. I guess.
• 26:04
  Just because it's the most fresh and like, in everyone's mind.

  Yeah. But I would say that it has the
• 26:13
  most baggage and everyone's mind because we don't have the
• 26:16
  distance to you have to really give a proper review, post-op

  Nellis asst of shadowlands. That's why we haven't done it on
• 26:26
  this show at least why I haven't pushed it on this on this show.

  Yeah. Because cuz, Two weeks ago, I

  was in Shadow lands, right? Two minutes ago.

  I thought about shadowlands a little shudder goes, down my

  spine. Like no, it's too fresh.

  Like it's, I would compare it like you did.

  And one of the reasons I said cataclysm was because cataclysm

  was close to Mr. Pandaria, without actually, saying, Mists
• 26:55
  of Pandaria, but without giving spoilers, there are events that
• 26:59
  are happening in the General world.

  You use BFA? As it as an example, you use

  Mists of Pandaria. There is a general through line.

  There is, as you're discovering, this something is happening
• 27:13
  Bears primals here. There's there are the Jardin
• 27:18
  here right there. All the flights are after
• 27:22
  particular things. And so in each Zone, much like
• 27:25
  you were in, in Legion, you go to the zone and you're like,
• 27:30
  hey, this is what I'm For. But there is smaller stuff going
• 27:35
  in there that I need to deal with in order to achieve my
• 27:38
  greater goal. And so at the end of each Zone,
• 27:41
  you have come to know the people of that zone, much like you did
• 27:44
  in lesion and be like, oh, this is the high mountain.
• 27:47
  And here's a valid jar, right? You would defeat the bad, that
• 27:52
  was looming, over everything much like Legion was looming
• 27:56
  over that, but then the legion use operatives within each Zone.

  This is the same in dragonflight where there is typically a big
• 28:04
  bad but they're working with operatives.
• 28:07
  So you're like, oh, okay, like what what's your plan here and
• 28:11
  who are you working with? And I'll rally the opposing
• 28:14
  force and I'll, and I'll fight them and that's what you did in
• 28:17
  Legion. So it's this.

  It's a similar story structure. That is building towards things.

  I haven't completed the final Zone.

  I hit 70 partway through that zone.

  Even Much like you. I got really into sidequest, I
• 28:35
  realized that I had two levels left and two holes owns to go.

  And I said, two to three by said guys, no more side quests, no
• 28:45
  more prayers that we come across.

  I do not want to hit 70 and be suddenly dealing with the level
• 28:52
  70 balancing with Gary with gear that I have from like level 65
• 29:00
  and stuff that I haven't happened.

  The first Zone, The Waking Shores, I did all every single

  side quest when I got most of the way through the Plains and I

  I stopped doing some side quests in the plains, finished off the

  The Azure span absolutely tunneling on those on those main

  story quests, though, it's also great.

  That the cinematics are in and there are so many cinematics

  that weren't data mind that I was getting to enjoy for the

  Quest X, which is great that you can follow along with that and

  like something that I've noticed with this is it's not just the

  it's not just the cinematics because there is a kind of

  renewed frequency of cinematics. But also while you're going

  around turning in these Quest, the Log is just present.

  Like there are just Talking Heads, constantly explaining

  what's going on, you get context clues as to what's happening.

  And that's not anything that's particularly new to the

  storytelling of World of Warcraft.

  But it's something that they've been integrating more and more

  and more. And I think with this particular

  story, they've hit a stride with it that it just clicks.

  together It is breathing so much life into each of these zones.

  In the middle of all the action, they are their own separate

  there's heart, there's real heart in these Side Stories and

  done on the first night is because of these Side Stories

  being such a pull, such an absolute pull.

  Impressions honestly, half the time I've spent between my own

  playthroughs where I've had to work or I've been working on

  other things, I've been spending talking to other friends of the

  this is hitting for a lot of different players who play in a

  lot of different ways. And generally, if you are

  looking to be engaged with World of Warcraft at all, if you are

  not at the point where I genuinely think you should just

  be stepping away from the game at all this Is so much to draw

  you back in. It is just so much pure joy in

  the little Side Stories and that storytelling in the

  characterization in the little games that we get to play in

  terms of, Running around and grabbing glyphs.

  Going and finding all the stuff to customize your dragon dragon

  writing is such an unusual Beast because it is the epitome of

  what I think. Ian was saying, where they will

  make a system, that is so much fun and so engaging, but you can

  absolutely ignore it. If this was shadowlands there

  would be forced Dragon riding events left, right?

  And Center, you would be able to get through a single zone

  without okay Champion, you've got to get on your dragon and

  now you've got to do this, like the racecourses wouldn't be

  time, but they would be also courses that you would have to

  do to Learn Your Dragon and then you would get a new power up.

  If you don't like dragon writing, you don't have to

  engage with dragon writing for the most part, I haven't seen

  the ability to fly yet, maybe like normal flying and I hope

  writing because I've seen, I've seen a couple people I've seen a

  couple of people made the comment of like well why can't I

  That my response to, that is, why would you want to do

  anything other than dragon writing?

  And I think that those comments are coming from a place of not

  having full League lift out dragon writing, and not having

  experienced the full Freedom that you get to experience with

  dragon writing. Because genuinely it makes it

  makes The world. It breathes so much life into

  how you interface with the World of Warcraft and this is

  something not new to. This is something that I've said

  on the show before because the very first time, we got our

  hands on dragon writing this. The first thing I said, was this

  changes the world that you inhabit because it gives you it

  gives you a way to interface with the world in not only a

  thematic way because cuz we're you're writing a dragon on the

  dragon Isles surrounded by Dragons.

  It's they did that on purpose and it just it works so well

  too. Immerse you in the setting, not

  only that, but it is far superior method of travel to any

  other method of travel that we've had thus far ground mounts

  flying mounts. Don't they don't compare, they

  don't compare to dragon writing. I frequently frequently, if I

  have a quest that I have to walk 30 yards, I would I I get on my

  Dragon go up in the air and plopped down 30 yards away every

  time every time because it's so much fun.

  It's so much fun to do that and it's so much more fun than just

  walking over there or getting on a ground Mount and running over

  because it gives you something that gives you something to do

  like the way that your dragon comes in and yeah like you did

  enjoying any other way. Of traversing the world like

  feels gross to me and I don't, I don't like it, I don't like it

  because I have dragon writing. And why would I do anything

  else? Yeah, so I am enjoying Dragon

  riding as well very much so I think that there's definitely

  questions about accessibility so for people who do not have those

  sort of responsiveness in their their hands or however they're

  controlling it. I can understand why regular

  flying would be a preferred option.

  And so for that reason I do think that regular flying should

  be enabled, but you're right it in terms of just pure engagement

  and gameplay and just Playing in the world.

  Dragon riding is feels so much more of an actual game than the

  chore of mounting up flying from point A, to point, B.

  And then coming back down, it is the way that they have allowed

  you to engage in the world because of the terrain.

  keep my momentum up and active gameplay when flying which for

  this flying with something that people much like a Jess would

  back and hopefully she wasn't in the middle of the sea from

  flying too far, right? I yeah, I really do like dragon

  flying. In for some things that I guess

  you have been doing while you're leveling.

  And I've been doing that, I'm capped, have you been spending

  some time with professions at all?

  I have been Gathering. So I picked up, I picked up

  Mining and skinning on my of ochre and my intent.

  Once I get my invoker capped and get through all the like initial

  like initial level cap rigmarole of starting the gearing process

  and everything. My plan is to go back and start

  working on professions on at least one Alt Which will be the

  next character that I bring through the story or through

  through the leveling process from 60 to 70.

  And my intent is to is to have two characters that I focus on

  professions and my invoker is going to be the the character

  that I do most of my gathering on.

  So I have Mining and skinning right now. and and I'm working

  on also doing fishing and everything because this is a

  character that I'm fairly certain is going to be the

  with since it's going to be out in the world.

  The most, I figured the most logical thing to do would be to

  undertake And then on my next character that goes through, I'm

  crafting that I end up doing on my next character through.

  So I haven't decided exactly what profession I'm going to do

  on my alt character and probably probably will have like

  herbalism and maybe jewelcrafting or something to

  current plan right now and all I've done thus far with the

  crafting system is is just gather mining nodes and skin a

  bunch. I think I've already got my skin

  and capped and Mining mining is kind of fallen off on the

  Wayside because the bulk of the time. time that I've spent in

  the last, Well, and they'll in the last two days, since the

  launch happened, has been in the UNR and planes, and there's not

  really much in the way of mining there.

  Like, there are nodes in that zone, but they are much more

  spread out than the other zones that I've been to so far.

  And I've flown over quite a few mining nodes, while while doing

  was more focused on getting glyphs and doing time trials.

  and the World server. Decided to just not let me

  control my character and then I got stuck in a loop of getting

  kicked out by the World server, getting back in, not being able

  to control my character getting booed or getting booted from the

  server. All well on my dragon and every

  time I go log back into the game.

  My dragon was facing a different direction but I was still in the

  air. it was, it was very humorous to me, but yeah, I know

  a lot of these, a lot of these issues can be pretty

  frustrating, especially, especially with with, wow, I

  feel like I feel like the the issues that have been happening

  art game-breaking, In a lot of cases, they're just kind of like

  minor annoyances but it's a far shot from.

  It's a first shot from Warlords of Draenor lunch.

  remember trying to set up the Garrison and how impossible that

  was, but they have had smoother, launches, they have had worse,

  dragon into the fold and the director of ochre was kind of

  what they came up with because and this is this has been talked

  about before. But the main thing that they

  wanted to do was they wanted the the different aspects not not

  aspect like capital A aspects but just aspect the the

  qualities of dragon they wanted those to be exemplified in both

  the race and in the the class that they end up bringing NG to

  to the race of drag Theory. And so, that's how we ended up

  with a race that can only be. One class and one class that
• 1:03:30
  belongs to this one race. And they didn't, they didn't

  really want to like dig too far into trying to Tool other
• 1:03:40
  classes to the, to the, to the skill set that the director of
• 1:03:46
  themselves. Get because that's also
• 1:03:49
  something to consider as well. And there's there's been lots of
• 1:03:53
  discussion around like what other what other like races or
• 1:03:59
  what classes can they bring to the drag theater and And that's
• 1:04:04
  that's a discussion for another day.

  But I I think that they made a very smart choice in only having
• 1:04:11
  director, be able to be of ochres and have of ochre.

  Be the only thing that's available to drag fear, it just,
• 1:04:19
  it just makes sense. Given given that, there's so

  much intertwined between the two talked, a little bit about
• 1:04:28
  Empower spells and how they wanted, they wanted a way to

  make Something Unique Mechanics wise for this class to bring to

  the table because they've tried to do something unique with
• 1:04:41
  almost every class that's been introduced into the game, like
• 1:04:43
  they had with the with the first class that was introduced into
• 1:04:49
  the game that the death Knights, they had the runes and runic
• 1:04:52
  power, that was the resource system that was only for them.

  And then monks was a Kind of new take on energy and combo points,
• 1:05:06
  but in kind of a roundabout way and actually I think the design
• 1:05:13
  of energy and Chi actually kind of got retroactively worked back
• 1:05:19
  into Rogue which is the original energy based class and then with
• 1:05:27
  with the Demon Hunter they had they had Fury which kind of kind
• 1:05:30
  of was its own thing. You as well, in in how it's how
• 1:05:35
  it's How It treats, the abilities that use it and how it
• 1:05:40
  interacts with the toolkit of the Demon Hunter.

  They were all things that were unique that were brought to the
• 1:05:46
  table, and they really wanted to do that with the invoker again
• 1:05:52
  and Empower spells were kind of just like where they where they
• 1:05:57
  landed on that. Is that they wanted it to be in
• 1:06:00
  Impact. In how?

  How you're pressing your buttons as well as the resources that
• 1:06:10
  you're that, you're using because I also the invoker.

  So if you if you haven't touched it in a poker and are playing

  Dragon flight, they they have Mana but managed kind of doesn't

  really matter much in the same way that manner kind of doesn't
• 1:06:28
  matter to enhancement and Elemental shamans they have it
• 1:06:31
  but it's just not something that they manage really unless
• 1:06:35
  they're you know dumping healing spells but They also have, they
• 1:06:44
  also have their own resource called Essence burst.

  And that's another thing that kind of got pulled in this
• 1:06:52
  unique to the Evoque. Is that it's familiar.

  But not, To off base. But yeah.

  Also talked a little bit about how they kind of.

  They kind of wanted to have some more things that were familiar

  to the World Demon Hunters Glide, being something, they

  kind of just lifted from demon hunters and dropped although it

  feels in practice feels very different from one another

  because because the hover ability The hover ability and
• 1:07:34
  the Glide ability doesn't really do the same.

  Like it does the same thing on paper but in practice Works a
• 1:07:41
  little bit differently like it. It's Unique enough in its feel
• 1:07:45
  for how it how it's used and everything completely completely

  different from demon hunters. Even though it's technically the

  same mechanic. Well no, I mean the Glide that

  the voters have is definitely from demon Hunters 100%.

  Yeah. Yeah however is a completely

  different ballgame where it allows it is more.

  It has more in kin with a shaman Spirit, Walkers Grace where you

  are allowed to cast while moving, then it would have

  anything to do with demon Hunters.

  Like just because you get levitated like it there's you're

  still gonna get hit by ground effects you're still going to
• 1:08:34
  that verticaly means nothing, it's just you get to move and

  shamans with Spirit walk is Grace have a bit of a Sprint

  that you can spec into when you initially activate it same thing
• 1:08:46
  with however you get that initial speed but you know,
• 1:08:50
  amped up, obviously there's give and take between Spirit walk
• 1:08:54
  away. Well again not the same not the
• 1:09:00
  same function in terms of allowing you to cast while
• 1:09:04
  moving. No nowhere near the same
• 1:09:06
  duration. No ability to maneuver while
• 1:09:10
  fell rushing fell. Russia's just one quick dash for

  it, right? So I that's why I make that

  comparison. In fact, many people have made
• 1:09:20
  made that comparison and when they were talking about like how
• 1:09:25
  demon Hunters inspired. Pokers in this interview, it was

  that demon Hunters had the double jump had the Glide had
• 1:09:35
  levels of Mobility. That completely opened up the
• 1:09:38
  game in ways that wow hasn't had before and they wanted to take
• 1:09:43
  that and apply it to a Caster, right?

  That's how you get the gliding ability.

  That's how you get hover taking it to taking it too. 20.

  Well I can move around in cast. I'm Not The Stand and Deliver

  the design of the game. Influence people to use a

  movement as little as possible. And of ogres are like demon

  Hunters where they are always all over the place.

  That's part of the reason they don't have at least going
• 1:11:09
  through this interview and seeing what the devotees have

  started reason that a volkers have those Glide abilities,

  right? They do that deep breath and

  they're halfway across the the zone.

  They then teleport back with the rewind.

  They will use their hover and bounce around.

  And they'll they will kite using their, their spells to keep

  distance. And that's why they have so few

  defensive because they're not supposed to stand there and heal

  themselves back up and such like warlocks, which is something

  that I'm playing like, what? Like, man, it doesn't feel like
• 1:11:48
  I'm wearing cloth because I can just sit here drain the life.

  Out of all five. You coming at me and you can't
• 1:11:53
  do damage fast enough but that's not a volkers invoker's.

  Tsar. Okay, root you get away live to

  fight another day. Yeah, but I mean that's why

  that's why I brought the hover ability into it because that
• 1:12:10
  like the the Glide the Glide is just like I said, it's the base
• 1:12:17
  of what what they were kind of trying to pull from Demon Hunter
• 1:12:23
  in that. It's all about the mobility.

  So yeah and having having played evoker, Most exclusively for the
• 1:12:34
  last several days. That definitely Rings true.

  But yeah, they also talked a little bit about about the
• 1:12:43
  talent tree overhaul in that the, the whole overhaul, the
• 1:12:47
  system, we got, basically confirmation that classic and
• 1:12:53
  the success of classic kind of made made the team kind of take
• 1:12:57
  a, take, a step back and be like, huh?
• 1:12:59
  Maybe there is something to these talent trees, and they
• 1:13:03
  felt Like the The Mists of Pandaria Talent system that
• 1:13:07
  we've had, since then was kind of unable to expand much further
• 1:13:11
  than where they wanted it to go. And they wanted, they wanted the
• 1:13:17
  new system, whatever. They came up with, to be
• 1:13:19
  something that that really dug in on diversity of build, rather
• 1:13:28
  than rather than just having having like set set talents that
• 1:13:37
  you that you go with 44, set situations and Yeah, that's
• 1:13:46
  that's how we ended up with the talents that we that we have.
• 1:13:50
  They of course are also expecting that that people will
• 1:13:53
  do pre-made builds. Like, people people are going to
• 1:13:56
  be looking at at the top end players, and they're going to be
• 1:14:01
  saying, okay look what works best in this situation and are
• 1:14:06
  going to be copying that and that kind of feeds into this.
• 1:14:15
  The the other design Choice around the talent trees system
• 1:14:19
  that A dragon flight which allows players to really just
• 1:14:24
  get in and change their talents at will and be able to have like
• 1:14:29
  different loadouts that they can just hot-swap to and not in the
• 1:14:33
  middle of a fight, obviously. But in between fights, they can
• 1:14:36
  prepare for different things. To be able to take it on.
• 1:14:42
  It talked a little bit about a possible tank spec for a volkers
• 1:14:48
  and said that they they didn't didn't really want to do that
• 1:14:57
  because they already have so many tanks available in the
• 1:15:00
  game. Every class that has been
• 1:15:03
  introduced into the game since the start has introduced a new
• 1:15:07
  tank, so they feel like they feel like they're at a good
• 1:15:10
  number and don't really need to add It.
• 1:15:13
  But they definitely wanted one of the edit nuclear into it
• 1:15:17
  because it's because green green, and red magic both feed
• 1:15:22
  into into that the, you know, the life binder and the dreamer.

  The both of those aspects being very heavily tied to Healing,
• 1:15:29
  they wanted to give the invoker class the ability to heal and
• 1:15:36
  also, you know, the little bit of time magic mixed in
• 1:15:40
  definitely fed into that need to to give give a Healer spec to
• 1:15:47
  the class and not have it. Just be just be the DPS option,
• 1:15:53
  but also the other side of that and something that I feel like
• 1:15:59
  they have kind of room to move into is that, you know, the
• 1:16:05
  black dragonflight really isn't terribly horribly represented in
• 1:16:11
  the toolkit for for Evo kurz. It's not It's not prevalent,
• 1:16:17
  like they're definitely definitely aspects again,
• 1:16:22
  lowercase, a aspects not not uppercase a aspects of of the
• 1:16:28
  invoker class, that definitely have their Roots seated in
• 1:16:35
  seated in the black. Dragonflight most of like I
• 1:16:39
  think I think one like, your major defensive cooldown is
• 1:16:45
  black Magic. And plus you also have
• 1:16:47
  landslides which is, which is Earth Magic and our black
• 1:16:51
  dragonflight magic. And then anything that in the
• 1:16:56
  tooltip says like magma or lava. That is also by dragonflight and
• 1:17:00
  not not the the fire of the the red dragonflight that would that
• 1:17:04
  you'd be used to. So I feel like, I feel like if
• 1:17:08
  they did, add another specialization to of ochre, they
• 1:17:12
  could do a little bit more of a focus on black dragonflight.
• 1:17:15
  Magic. But yeah, we're not there, we're
• 1:17:20
  not there yet weird. That is maybe a discussion for
• 1:17:26
  Next expansion. But for now we only have the two
• 1:17:30
  and I'm personally extremely happy with the specializations
• 1:17:34
  of invoker that we that we have. So the last bit of the interview

  they were talking about how the customization kind of presented
• 1:17:45
  some challenges, they wanted, they wanted highly customizable
• 1:17:50
  player characters, but that having that level of having that
• 1:17:56
  level of customization, had some challenges with animation and,
• 1:18:02
  and actually, getting the characters really?
• 1:18:08
  Fleshed out with, with the, the animations of everything.

  And they really wanted customizations to be kind of
• 1:18:20
  Unbound, from From the animations and not have that.

  Be something that dictated. What the characters ended up

  looking like and I think they did a pretty good job of that.

  Yeah, I think that because the interviewer was saying that

  like, wouldn't it be great if, if you were using a blue tint,

  then you were using blue dragon magic.

  So it of the having that customization line up with the

  actual abilities that you use. And so, while there is something

  cool to that, like you said, they just wanted Unbound.

  They wanted players to express themselves without feeling

  constrained by it. Like, you could do an Infinite
• 1:19:06
  dragon. And it would suck that if you
• 1:19:10
  were doing a customization that looked like an infinite Dragon,
• 1:19:15
  you would not be able to use any green magic or healing or your
• 1:19:20
  time magic would would not work the same way because you're an
• 1:19:23
  infant. So they didn't want to make
• 1:19:25
  those sort of strings for people to figure out and to constrain
• 1:19:30
  what you want to do with your Drac there.
• 1:19:33
  And yeah, I get that but I also think Give us Cliffs and allow
• 1:19:37
  us to have like you know, that purple fire later down the line
• 1:19:40
  that they were talking about exactly glyphs more glyphs, put
• 1:19:45
  more glyphs in the game. It can't hurt.

  You totally can but an unforeseen ways that we can't
• 1:19:52
  possibly calculate. Well, I mean again that like

  that's what Ian was saying about.

  How if you have these customizations, it becomes

  harder for people to read it. It, it is, especially an issue

  in PvP where it's like, okay, what exactly is that spell?

  That he's doing? Because now, it looks like some

  weird frogs dropping from the ground and then you find out
• 1:20:20
  that, oh, that's his healing rain and that's what I'm worried
• 1:20:24
  about. So rather than have all that
• 1:20:26
  confusion, they are careful about what glyphs a introduce Le
• 1:20:32
  sigh. Yeah, big sigh.

  Big sigh. The last, the last thing I was
• 1:20:42
  about empowered spells and how they, they're starting with the
• 1:20:48
  bokors, they've introduced it with the Evoque hers and and
• 1:20:52
  they that's where they'll be for now.

  But they are definitely open to opening that particular mechanic
• 1:21:00
  to other classes and specs, I think I think my favorite, the
• 1:21:04
  one that I'm dead set on having happen is Moving chaos bolt to
• 1:21:11
  an empowered spell. I think that would be incredibly
• 1:21:13
  fun and there are many other options that the developers have
• 1:21:19
  for giving casters a kind of empowered version of of these of
• 1:21:27
  you know, major parts of their toolkit like Destruction,
• 1:21:32
  Warlock, fire Mage, elemental shaman, definitely has room in
• 1:21:37
  their toolkit. For empowered spells.
• 1:21:40
  It's some of the is something that they could, they could
• 1:21:42
  definitely bring two more classes, but I think, I think it
• 1:21:45
  being the new hotness on the new high class is good enough for
• 1:21:49
  now. Yeah.

  at which point this is found out and the lacera kicks him out of

  the wedding, and he has a squirted out and rathian.

  catches up with him. as he's as he's heading out and they share

  a bottle of Arc wine and they discuss a mutual feeling that

  people can be like, oh yeah, that's like the wedding vows

  I think it's kind of that double meaning where it's also The Vow

  that was broken by Deathwing when he betrayed the other

  flights. The black dragonflight was

  supposed to The, The Defenders of the planet and rathian is

  taken up that cause like, the very beginning before he even

  gets to the wedding. He is having this dream where
• 1:30:17
  he's become the aspect, and he's fulfilling the vowel.

  That, that his flight was always meant to be as the, as the earth

  water rathian, earth water, and then suddenly things twist, and

  the dream becomes a nightmare and he loses control of his very
• 1:30:34
  self within the dream. And he becomes a cobbled

  nightmare. That is his father, that is
• 1:30:43
  death when he's become a version of death wing and he and
• 1:30:47
  throughout this entire story, he wants to fulfill The Vow that

  his flight was making but, It's juxtaposed against the light

  love, and everything of the wedding him feeling.

  So out of place, that none of these people look like him.

  That he has no place where he belongs at note.

  There's no place at Drac the that black dragons truly belong.

  So, he doesn't know his place in the world, and to feel that.

  That's a big part of this story to fulfill that vow that role

  have this perspective of rathian where a lot of the Pomp and

  like, just Arrogance that he tends to exude, is this

  so I would say people read this and then do quest with rathian

  and it will change the way that you look at rathian, it will

  change. The way that when that facade

  sort of breaks when he is anxious to get something done,

  it's not just like oh man or at the end you're acting like a

  spoiled brat. It's it's this very deep need

  inside him. That is Illustrated in this

  see the way that it shifts. The perspective puts light onto
• 1:33:33
  the character of wrapping that we have not had before.

  I was thinking about, as well with this is that this kind of

  this story really kind of puts into perspective, like how

  isolated rathian is from the rest of the dragons.

  In that he spins. He spins the vast majority of

  his time alone. And we already knew we knew that

  the, the black dragonflight like it was, it was basically just
• 1:34:06
  him and Evan horn. We kind of kind of got the sense

  that the the black dragonflight has dwindled down to a very
• 1:34:16
  small portion of what it once was and he in particular spends
• 1:34:23
  a lot of time. He spends a lot of time alone
• 1:34:29
  and not interfacing with the rest of the world.

  And when he does interface with the rest of the world, it's like
• 1:34:34
  this big grandiose thing and then he just goes back into
• 1:34:37
  doing his own thing. He goes back to the end and
• 1:34:40
  Pandaria or it goes traveling around the world on his own with
• 1:34:45
  with no company or anything. And he's very isolated and he
• 1:34:55
  very much like you get the feeling that he is.

  He is aware that this this feeling of there being something
• 1:35:04
  missing is Growing in him through the story.
• 1:35:11
  But I also get a sense that there's kind of like a like, the
• 1:35:18
  misconstruing of the emotion that he's feeling a
• 1:35:21
  misconstruing of the feeling itself, from one of being
• 1:35:27
  isolated, and one of being of this like homesickness that
• 1:35:33
  alexstrasza comes to explain it being and I wonder, I wonder if
• 1:35:40
  there is much to read into that and I'm definitely going to be
• 1:35:45
  using that as kind of like an analysis tool going analysis,
• 1:35:49
  tool going through the story, as I play through the last couple
• 1:35:54
  of zones in this, in this introductory story experience
• 1:35:59
  that we're going to have and definitely definitely going to
• 1:36:02
  be looking at this at the story and reading back as a,
• 1:36:05
  touchstone going through any of The rest of the story that we
• 1:36:08
  get throughout the course of this expansion.

  So I feel like that's, that's a pretty big theme like that, that

  feeling of having something missing and coming back home to
• 1:36:18
  the dragon, I was I feel like that's a pretty huge theme that

  they're going to be, you know, pretty heavily knocking on

  throughout the course of this expansion.
