- 0:06Hello, what's your least favorite scary movie?
- 0:10Uh huh. Yep, militant lumberjacks.
- 0:13Welcome to Watch Your Least Favorite Scary Movie, The
- 0:15podcast where we talk about the good, the bad, the ugly, and the
- 0:19absurd on all of our favorite and least favorite scary movies.
- 0:22Because we believe every horror movie rifely has its fan base.
- 0:24Even if we do not always get it. My name is Travis.
- 0:27My name is Jesse and welcome back family.
- 0:30Yeehaw. Yeehaw, it's time for us to go
- 0:34back to Texas and we're continuing our current
- 0:38franchise, which is the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and we're on
- 0:41Part 3, Leatherface, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. 3 Before we
- 0:48do that, I've got a couple of announcements. 1 is that RTB or
- 0:52not to be was released this past weekend, so be sure to check
- 0:55that out. We covered dead dudes in the
- 0:56house or the. House on.
- 0:58Tombstone Hill or something about dead.
- 1:01Dead. Home.
- 1:02Yeah, that. Yeah, it's a it's a fun little.
- 1:08Yeah, it's a fun movie. Exactly.
- 1:11It's not bad. It's a, you know, I think it's a
- 1:13fun one. I think we had a good time.
- 1:14We've. Requested a lot of audience
- 1:16participation in that, so there are several questions that if
- 1:18you guys listen, please choose to answer in the comments.
- 1:21Also, if you are a member of our budget tier Patreon, we will be
- 1:26releasing our bonus episode sometime before the end of this
- 1:29month in. The coming days, the.
- 1:30Next week, yes. So just be on the lookout for
- 1:33that. We as of the time of this
- 1:35recording, because it's so like basically the middle of the
- 1:37month. It's weird recording.
- 1:39Recording this time is weird. Yeah.
- 1:42So that episode will be out. We haven't figured out what it's
- 1:45going to be yet, but it's fun. It's always fun.
- 1:47It's going to be a great time with it.
- 1:48Yeah, fantastic. So be on the lookout for that if
- 1:51you are not a member of our Patreon, but you want to be The
- 1:54link to that is in the very bottom of these show notes.
- 1:56Just scroll all the way down right there.
- 1:57It's. Also on our link tree, if you go
- 1:59to our socials whatever, it's easy to find.
- 2:02Yep. All right, that is it for
- 2:05announcements. Do we have poll results?
- 2:07We do. So last week we talked about The
- 2:10Final Girls, yes, which is a movie about people going into a
- 2:14movie franchise and experiencing it through that lens.
- 2:17So we wanted to ask you guys, what movie franchise would you
- 2:22like to dive into yourselves? We had Halloween, Texas Chainsaw
- 2:27Massacre, Child's Play slash Chucky, and Nightmare on Elm
- 2:32Street as options. So the results 40% of the people
- 2:36would like to go into the Halloween universe, 10% Texas
- 2:40Chainsaw Massacre, 40% Child's Play slash Chucky, and 10%
- 2:45Nightmare on Elm Street. OK.
- 2:47I think out of all of those, Halloween is probably the most
- 2:50survivable, so I think that's what I would choose.
- 2:54I don't know. I think if you're going on
- 2:55survivable, I think Chucky, I think, I mean, ultimately he's
- 2:59still a doll. Like really like when it comes
- 3:02between like if do you want to fight Chucky or do you want to
- 3:05fight Michael? I'm fighting Chucky.
- 3:08But I agree that Halloween is more interesting.
- 3:12I love Halloween time, so that's like a permanent Halloween vibe
- 3:16no matter what. So that's got a lot in its
- 3:19favor. But the others, I mean, Texas
- 3:22Chainsaw Massacre, I don't want to be in that stinky and, you
- 3:27know, like, chainsaws are scary. Yeah.
- 3:29And that Leatherface, God, he's a terrifying man.
- 3:33Yeah. But he there's a chance that you
- 3:36can be on his good side. He's he's a very much a nurtured
- 3:40to be bad guy. He has some good at him.
- 3:43I think that ways there's potential.
- 3:45It depends on which movie you're watching him from.
- 3:48That's true too. I like that we had Chris say
- 3:52he's not sleeping well anyway, so he chose on Elm Street, which
- 3:56if you have like insomnia, that might be your series right
- 3:59there. I don't think that would be a
- 4:01good one for me because I you already have a nightmare.
- 4:04We're sleepwalking this week. Yeah, so.
- 4:06Walking is not a term I wouldn't.
- 4:07Add I. Was sleep screaming and running
- 4:10out of the room terrified? Would have run out of the house
- 4:14if you hadn't stopped me. Yeah, it's fine.
- 4:17OK, Anyway, I'm ready for background, if you're ready for
- 4:21background, yeah. OK, let's do Texas Chainsaw.
- 4:24OK, let it face Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3, released January
- 4:2912th. Hey 1990, happy birthday.
- 4:32I was -2 years old, so. Yeah, this is just, you know,
- 4:36for you in the future. I knew that you were going to be
- 4:39birthed that day. We watched it on our DVD, but
- 4:43right now the only streaming options you have, you have to
- 4:46pay some monies, several few just it's, yeah, Google Play
- 4:52Prime or Fandango at home. Less than $4.00 for each of
- 4:55those. It's this is when the I've I've
- 4:59kept an eye on it because like I hadn't watched the Yeah.
- 5:01And well, obviously I have now, but like a while ago before we
- 5:05still. Haven't watched it actually.
- 5:07Yeah, I wanted to watch it and it never came up on streaming
- 5:10surfaces. But when it did show up, it
- 5:12would be on Max because this is a Warner Bros movie owned by
- 5:16Warner Bros. So, yeah.
- 5:18So keep an eye out then. Yep.
- 5:20So this was written by David J Shaw, based on characters by Kim
- 5:24Herkel and Toby Hooper, directed by Jeff Burr, music by Jim Manzi
- 5:29and Pat Reagan, special effects by KMB.
- 5:31Yeah, Greggy Nix. Man Greggy Nix back at it,
- 5:36Starring Kate Hodge as Michelle, Ken Foray as Benny, RA Mihailov
- 5:41as Leatherface, William Butler as Ryan, Viggo Mortensen as Tex,
- 5:46Joe Unger as Tinker, and Tom Everett as Alfredo Travis.
- 5:50Yes, time for our favorite game budget or bug, Ted?
- 5:58I'm going to go bug Ted. Fact.
- 6:01Yeah, yeah. 2 million. Whoa.
- 6:03Only two mil. Only two mil opening box office
- 6:062.6 mil worldwide Gross 5.7 milk.
- 6:10Yeah. IMDb score 5.0 out of 10.
- 6:14OK, you know that doesn't hurt too bad.
- 6:17Yeah, 5 is not bad. I told you when we were
- 6:19recording TV or not to be that that movie had a higher rating
- 6:22than this one. It was only by .1, yeah.
- 6:24But when you were saying that, I thought you were saying it was
- 6:26like numbers below. I wanted to make you nervous.
- 6:29I set up the anticipation for you, Shoe Lord.
- 6:32Yeah. Yeah.
- 6:33OK, we're save you all. All right, so I picked some
- 6:35movies from 1990. OK.
- 6:38And the theme is, yeah, sure. OK, I guess we'll just hang out
- 6:42with these weirdo sadists. Man, why don't you gather for
- 6:47this one then? I'm curious.
- 6:48The first one's misery. Oh.
- 6:51Man Yeah, yeah, I guess I'll hang out with her.
- 6:54He has no. Option so that released November
- 6:5830th 1990 budget of 20 million world right goes to 61 million
- 7:03IMDb scores 7.8 out of 10. If you want to hear our complete
- 7:06thoughts on it, we have talked about that movie.
- 7:08Go check it out. That is actually tonight.
- 7:11I will, if you're listening to this, on the opening release of
- 7:14this, I will be at book club discussing the book, so.
- 7:17You know, I think in that scenario, of all the people,
- 7:20that's like, OK, sure, I'll hang out with these weird people.
- 7:21I think it's the pig misery. Yeah.
- 7:24You know, fine, I'll hang out with these two.
- 7:26It's weird. Yeah, but the problem with
- 7:28hanging out with the pig Misery is that occasionally you're
- 7:29gonna have to see Annie Wilkes and she's gonna do her Misery
- 7:32impression. Yeah, exactly.
- 7:35Yeah. OK second movie.
- 7:37OK troll 2. Oh yeah, Nil bog baby.
- 7:42The US releases October 12th, 1990.
- 7:46Budget of 100K worldwide, Gross of 1.1 K IMDb score.
- 7:54No fucking way. Seriously.
- 8:00TV scored 3.0 out of 10. We've also discussed this.
- 8:04I must have forgotten that because I didn't realize it was
- 8:07that abysmal at the box office. 1.1000 on $100,000 budget.
- 8:14That movie, The third movie, yeah.
- 8:19Gremlins 2 new batch. Hey, okay.
- 8:22That released June 15th, 1990. Budget of 50 million, well by
- 8:26gross of 41 million. IMDb score of 6.4 out of 10.
- 8:32That one so shocks me that it's got a good IMDb.
- 8:34I know. I've never seen that I can't.
- 8:37It's not that I don't like it that shocks me, it's just from
- 8:40what I've heard other people say about it, I never got the
- 8:42impression that it was good things, but apparently people
- 8:45like. It every time I think of
- 8:46Gremlins 2 I think of the key and feels good.
- 8:48Yeah, me too. Yeah.
- 8:50Where they're just brainstorming and they're like, every idea is
- 8:53accepted. Yeah, OK, cool.
- 8:55That's a good thing. I like that.
- 8:57All right, tagline time. There were two on the poster.
- 9:02Well, the main poster, there were actually several across
- 9:05different posters, but I'm going with the main poster right?
- 9:08The terror begins the second it starts.
- 9:12I wouldn't mind that if it was Texas Chance on Massacre 2 cuz
- 9:15then we get the play of like second.
- 9:17Yeah, that would have been way better, yeah.
- 9:19The other is it's a bit of his own fart.
- 9:23Smelly. Most controversial horror film
- 9:27ever is finally here. What lame.
- 9:31Yeah. You know that kind of.
- 9:34Then there were some things that made them.
- 9:38I think put that on the poster, which we might go into in the
- 9:41fun facts. Yeah, there's.
- 9:43There's things that I'm aware of that maybe we can shed some
- 9:45light on. Yeah, I'm curious to see what I
- 9:47found online, how that matches with what you found in the
- 9:51making of. Yeah, the DVD had like a 28
- 9:54minute making of documentary that I watched, so I've got some
- 9:56Intel. Yeah, and this is one of those
- 9:58weird times that like, he watched that, so he'll chime in
- 10:00with stuff because he already watched it and we were on a
- 10:04schedule. It's.
- 10:05Kind of funny, it's the same thing happened with the first
- 10:07Texas. Chainsaw.
- 10:07I watched him making a. Documentary for that one too.
- 10:09Yeah, maybe that would be my thing for this franchise.
- 10:12All right, some tales are told then soon forgotten, but a
- 10:17legend is forever. Oh man.
- 10:22I think that makes sense where they're trying to make the move
- 10:23to Leatherface being the main character of the Sawyer family.
- 10:27Yeah, OK. There's Rogue Kill all over
- 10:31Texas. I mean, that kind of works
- 10:34because they do make that as a one statement.
- 10:36Yeah, a couple of times, yeah. And this is a movie that's more
- 10:40Rd. based than other ones, so I think that one works.
- 10:42Exactly. He puts the teeth in terror.
- 10:48Teeth. Teeth in terror, Yeah.
- 10:51Doesn't make sense. I don't.
- 10:54Know like the terrier has teeth to it yeah type thing like I
- 10:57think like. The teeth of the.
- 11:00Chainsaw. I see.
- 11:01I see. Yeah, yeah.
- 11:03And then, finally, that's all his family.
- 11:05Hell yeah, I'm glad that they made that Italian.
- 11:09I mean, they should have done that.
- 11:11Cool, That's your wedding ring. I keep saying that.
- 11:14Yeah. Where did it go?
- 11:18OK, You ready for some fun facts?
- 11:21I am. All right.
- 11:22So there is, in fact, an often ended because of this movie.
- 11:24And you know, the whole fight scene at the pond that they
- 11:28have. Michelle ends up killing
- 11:29everybody. Danny doesn't survive.
- 11:32So she gets out of there and she is walking along the road the
- 11:35next morning and a cop car pulls up behind her and she's like
- 11:39yay, cool. Except then when the car pulls
- 11:41up ahead of her, the little girl pops up and she's got her little
- 11:43skeleton Sally doll and it's like waving it and you can tell
- 11:46it's text driving. Could you?
- 11:49I don't know because they drove off and I thought maybe it was
- 11:52like the cops stopped at the house and they picked up the kid
- 11:55for child protection. No, the greasy blonde hair was
- 11:57poking out of the hat. Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:00All right, I know why they made that change.
- 12:04They changed the ending, okay? They showed it to some test
- 12:07audiences and people really resonated with Ken for Ray's
- 12:11character. Well, yeah, it's fucking Ken for
- 12:13Ray. Yeah, like people loved his
- 12:15character. So what they did is they wanted
- 12:18to in like the one that we end up getting, bring characters
- 12:22back that people liked because they had like potential for a
- 12:26sequel maybe. You know, if we do a sequel, we
- 12:29want to bring these people that people like back.
- 12:31Yes. So that's why we get that like
- 12:33him just pulling up and all that stuff that.
- 12:35Makes sense. Yeah.
- 12:37So I kind of alluded to this where I said they were trying to
- 12:39make Leatherface the main character of the Sawyer family.
- 12:42And what happened is Canon Group bought the rights to Texas
- 12:46Chainsaw Massacre, and their whole plan was that they were
- 12:48going to bring it back to its nitty gritty roots, which, as we
- 12:52talked about last month, Toby Hooper always intended for it to
- 12:55be a dark comedy like. I think it's just like they,
- 12:59they wanted to reclaim it. Yeah.
- 13:00It's like they the first one was like a thing and then he like is
- 13:04like, it's not that really. Yeah.
- 13:06But he put it out there. And once you put it out there,
- 13:09it becomes like the audiences thing.
- 13:10You know what? I.
- 13:10Mean yeah. And then I think this is
- 13:12especially funny because they were kind of modeling it off of
- 13:14the success of the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, which also
- 13:19is like a franchise that borders with it plays our own comedy in
- 13:23its. Yeah.
- 13:24And stuff too. Yeah.
- 13:26So David J Shou, Speaking of Nightmare on Elm Street, he was
- 13:29actually working on reworking the Nightmare on Elm Street 5
- 13:33Dream child script when he was pulled to work on the script,
- 13:37Yeah. Wait, the the guy that wrote
- 13:39this movie? Yep, he said that this was his
- 13:41first movie that he wrote himself.
- 13:43Yeah, no, he was reworking. Yeah, I know.
- 13:45No. Dream Child, this is his first
- 13:46original screenplay that he wrote and he got produced, yeah,
- 13:49which he was really psyched about that.
- 13:52Once again the theme for poor Gunner Hansen.
- 13:55They tried to bring him back his leather face, but they had more
- 13:58pay, remuneration disputes and still couldn't get him to come
- 14:03back. Now I'm starting to wonder, is
- 14:04Gunner just terrible at negotiating?
- 14:06Yeah, I like, I, I really am curious about more of these
- 14:10details like which like how was it?
- 14:14I feel like this is one of those, like there's three sides
- 14:16to it. There's the studio side, there's
- 14:18gunner side, and then there's the truth, you know?
- 14:21Yeah, yeah. They, they, I know why they got
- 14:24RA. Mala Hoff.
- 14:25Mala Hoff. He did actually audition for it.
- 14:29He did? Yeah.
- 14:31Yeah, the director was familiar with him.
- 14:33Like, I guess they knew each other and I don't know if he
- 14:35worked on something in his past or not, but yeah, they they
- 14:39called him in because of that. Yeah, and the the stunt
- 14:42coordinator for this thing is actually came hotter.
- 14:45Yeah, and he was RA stunt double and supposedly this is like more
- 14:51rumored than anything but the teaser trailer that they did for
- 14:54this movie to get the funding and everything, they use Kane
- 14:56harder as Leatherface. You've not seen that.
- 15:00You got to watch it. OK, so Burt initially wanted to
- 15:03film this in Texas, but by the time he was hired, set
- 15:06construction had already started in Valencia, CA.
- 15:09And this was kind of a cursed set in some ways because they
- 15:14were dealing with wildfire issues destroying some parts of
- 15:17sets. People were just quitting, like
- 15:21walking off set, and Burr at one point actually got fired for
- 15:25being over budget and over schedule, but they couldn't find
- 15:28anybody to hire in his place, so they hired him back.
- 15:31Yeah, it was the last week of filming from what I saw on the
- 15:35thing. And they're like, look like you
- 15:38have one week left. We want to see your shot list
- 15:41for the next week. If you don't get it to us,
- 15:43you're fired. And then he, like, told him
- 15:45like, oh, guys, like we're on the final stretch here.
- 15:47Like I don't have to do this. Like I'm going to get it.
- 15:49It's fine. And then they fired him and then
- 15:51they called him back. Like he said, there's like a lot
- 15:53of animosity on the set. Like a lot of the actors really
- 15:56didn't like him either. Oh, really?
- 15:58Yeah, they, like, apparently, like, they had Ryan's actor on
- 16:02the documentary, too. And he was talking about how,
- 16:04like, he would overhear some conversations of, like, people
- 16:06just being really nitpicky, like the smallest thing.
- 16:08They would really try and, like, just, like, give him shit for
- 16:13it. And for some reason, they just
- 16:15didn't really care for him. He acknowledged himself that he
- 16:18wanted this to be his movie. He he came from like an
- 16:21independent filmmaking background.
- 16:23And then he realized this actually isn't like this is
- 16:25bigger than me. So like he recognizes after the
- 16:28fact that he probably would have been better than just like take
- 16:31like a more grand like everybody approach rather than like him.
- 16:35OK, yeah, The one last final fact I have is that the set was
- 16:42less than a mile from Six Flags, so there's some scenes where
- 16:45there's screams in the background, and those are not
- 16:47like production actor screams. Those are screams from the theme
- 16:51park. Those are like happy screams.
- 16:53Yeah. Not like scared chainsaw screams
- 16:56happening. Do you have anything additional
- 16:59from the making of that you'd like to share?
- 17:02It was funny. We talked about one of the
- 17:04things in this series is you get these actors that are up and
- 17:07coming that end up being big time actors.
- 17:09Like Eagle Morton, seen as this movie's big name.
- 17:12That kind of had his breakout after the fact, which is funny
- 17:16because one of the original targets that they were going to
- 17:18have as a director for this movie was Peter Jackson.
- 17:21Yeah. And then it just kind of so
- 17:23happened that they ended up working together after the fact
- 17:26on Lord of the Rings, and Viggo Mortenstein bombed his audition.
- 17:32They didn't like him and he didn't get the job at first and
- 17:36they ended up giving it to this other guy and they brought him
- 17:38on the project and it was they were doing rehearsals.
- 17:41Then they just did not like his rehearsal.
- 17:44So they just like called Vigo up and he was down to do the part
- 17:48and they liked him because he was like actually ready to get
- 17:52down and dirty and do what needed to be done for the movie.
- 17:55So it ended up like he wasn't a right fit at first, but he ended
- 17:59up being like the perfect character for it.
- 18:01Good in this. Another cool thing that I didn't
- 18:04really catch. They don't really like go into
- 18:06in the movie itself. But like this isn't actual
- 18:10biological family in this movie, it's all found family.
- 18:14OK. Yes, they just they're like a
- 18:17misfit like group of people that just got together and the
- 18:21daughter is actually Weatherface's daughter which.
- 18:24That was kind of implied. They through, yeah, they say it
- 18:28like they say he's good at making kids basically, which is
- 18:31kind of weird, but the way that the kid is acting, you would
- 18:34think it would. It was Texas.
- 18:36Yeah, kid. Also, just in case anybody was
- 18:40curious if they thought the little blonde girl looked
- 18:42familiar, she does play the younger version of Tina from
- 18:48Friday the 13th Part 7 in the flashback where she kills her
- 18:51dad. And I guess while we're also
- 18:53talking about that, Ryan's actor, he's also in Friday the
- 18:5613th, I think he was in Jason Goes to Hell.
- 19:00He gets killed in that, He was in Nightmare on Elm Street, dies
- 19:03in that, and he's in the Texas Chainsaw movie.
- 19:05So he's been in a lot of horror franchises.
- 19:08He's been killed in multiple horror franchises, and we've
- 19:11talked about his death on all of these episodes.
- 19:14Yeah, he, he said in the things, though I never got Michael,
- 19:17though he seemed sad. He seemed sad that he never made
- 19:19into a Halloween movie. Well, there's always hope.
- 19:22No, I don't think so at this point.
- 19:24You said before that like if they made 100 Halloween movies,
- 19:29he would watch 100 Halloween movies.
- 19:31Who me? Yeah, I'm talking about him.
- 19:33Him making it into a Halloween movie.
- 19:34At this point, I don't even know if he's still acting these days.
- 19:37Yeah. But if they called him up and
- 19:38they said, hey, William, do you want to be killed by Michael?
- 19:41Do you think he'd say no? He'd be down exactly.
- 19:43He'd be able to finish. Exactly.
- 19:44Yeah. OK, go.
- 19:49Are we ready to talk about good, bad, ugly and absurd?
- 19:51Yeah. OK.
- 19:52All right. Kick it off.
- 19:54So one of the cool things about this movie is each one is
- 19:58different than the other. The second one, definitely more
- 20:01comedic and it got a little bit more wacky.
- 20:04The first one, really gritty and grimy.
- 20:06This one right here, it has its own tone to it.
- 20:09It has that road movie that we talked about before, which I
- 20:13think is really cool. It really leans into the
- 20:17strengths of the series. I think.
- 20:19Like I like that they corrected it back into the horror over the
- 20:24comedy. We get hints of comedy here and
- 20:26there, but I think this is the correct balance for it.
- 20:31And I like how they definitely make it very clear that this is
- 20:35a very isolated, small community and they do set up these traps
- 20:40for people that come through. Yeah, it's nice.
- 20:42Like I, I like it. They they were really smart with
- 20:45it. And like, one of the biggest
- 20:48things about this series, when people think of Texas Chainsaw
- 20:51Massacre, I think a lot of people think of the chase
- 20:53scenes. And what they make with this
- 20:55movie is essentially 1 long chase scene the entire time.
- 20:58It starts in the car, it goes into the forest and then like,
- 21:01they go back to the house. And even that is better.
- 21:05I like, like at the house, the dinner scene.
- 21:08It's not like the dinner scene from the past two movies.
- 21:10They actually make it interesting this time around.
- 21:13Yeah. You know, like that if you've
- 21:15listened to the past two episodes, that's the part where
- 21:17the the series has lost me every single time.
- 21:20The dinner scenes are never really that interesting to me.
- 21:23Yeah, but it's good at building tension and it's good at its
- 21:27humor, and I think it's one of the better ones in the series,
- 21:30honestly. Yeah, no, I definitely agree.
- 21:33I think it it tells, I mean, you're going to expect certain
- 21:37things for the Texas Chainsaw movie, right?
- 21:39And I think it it hits those beats while keeping it
- 21:42interesting and fresh. And it also puts it in a way
- 21:46that, like, I don't know, it feels more relatable in some
- 21:49ways than others because, like, the first one, it starts off
- 21:51with, like, so these kids are specifically going to this town
- 21:56to look at their grandfather's house or whatever.
- 21:59Yeah. And the second one, oh, getting
- 22:01caught up in an investigation to try and find the Sawyer family.
- 22:04Yeah. This one is just, like, I'm
- 22:06driving through here on a road trip.
- 22:09I don't actually want to be here.
- 22:11Yeah. Which I think is a little bit
- 22:13more relatable. I think creepy dudes at a gas
- 22:17station. Very fucking relatable.
- 22:19Especially places like Texas where you have those long
- 22:22stretches of Rd. with nothing. Yeah.
- 22:24Which that's like scary in its own.
- 22:26Yeah, that's terrifying in and of itself.
- 22:29So I think that this does a lot of good things and I think
- 22:33having a lot of night time scenes through woods, that's
- 22:37always gonna be effective for me.
- 22:39We've got like the one girl that was like hiding out there for a
- 22:42week and like in the two minutes that she's on screen, you're
- 22:46rooting for her and then she just dies so unceremoniously.
- 22:49And I think having like things like that is really effective.
- 22:52Yeah, at first I was like, you know what, That's kind of weird
- 22:55that you introduced her and then kill her.
- 22:56But then I thought I was like, no, actually, I like that.
- 22:59That actually worked I think also just another cool thing
- 23:03about the movie, the teaser trailer is one of the best in
- 23:06the entire, like horror movies in general, movie teasers in
- 23:09general. Like if you have not seen it, I
- 23:11recommend you watch it because it's just fun.
- 23:13I wish it kind of kept that tone, but if it kept that tone,
- 23:17it might have leaned a little bit more into the Texas Chainsaw
- 23:20Massacre 2 territory. And love the teaser trailer as
- 23:23much as you can. OK.
- 23:26Well, I think you were you were very much in the minority.
- 23:28We've had people like in the reviews sit in here mention that
- 23:31specifically. I like the concept of like, OK,
- 23:34we're doing sort in this own like, I think it's one type of
- 23:37thing and I like that concept, but like.
- 23:39Is it possible that it got over hyped for you?
- 23:41A little bit. OK, that's fair.
- 23:43But I still don't even think if I saw that, I'd be like, OK,
- 23:46like, I don't know. I think sometimes teaser
- 23:48trailers just don't do much for me anyway.
- 23:51Because I'm. Just like, OK, cool, so we're
- 23:52going to have a third one, you know what I mean?
- 23:54I'm. Like Third Texas Chainsaw?
- 23:56Yeah. Yeah, I think that's part of it.
- 23:58Like, that's cool having that announcement.
- 24:01And especially if it's done in a cool way.
- 24:02Like if I got like, a today at a teaser trailer of Michael Myers
- 24:07and he has his knife and it's just, like, shot down to him,
- 24:10like by a bolt of lightning, and he holds it like.
- 24:14And that has nothing to do with the movie even.
- 24:16Like, I would be hyped because, like, oh, hell yeah.
- 24:18That's a cool way to tell me that we're getting another one.
- 24:21Hell yeah. Thank you.
- 24:22I watched the teaser trailer for Sunrise on the reaping cuz I was
- 24:26like yeah super hyped and I was just like oh lava I.
- 24:31Don't even know what you're talking.
- 24:32About OK, the new Hunger Games, maybe for next year.
- 24:36I guess teaser trailers aren't for you.
- 24:37Then yeah, I guess I'm not a teaser trailer person, I guess.
- 24:40That's fine. That's all fine and dandy.
- 24:44All right, So bad stuff. Yeah.
- 24:46We talked about the survivor a bit.
- 24:48I thought it was weird to make her.
- 24:50They made her almost kind of similar to the SAW years.
- 24:53I felt like personality wise she for the longest time.
- 24:57You think that she's part of the family even.
- 25:00Yeah, I think they're kind of trying to misdirect at 1st and
- 25:04then you kind of see maybe she she's unhinged like Sally is at
- 25:08the beginning of the first movie.
- 25:09Yeah, it's just I didn't necessarily like her reasoning
- 25:13for sticking around a week. She's like, they watch the
- 25:16roads, I can't get away. They're not watching the 24/7.
- 25:20They're at their house in this movie even like just chilling.
- 25:23They can't tell if you ever, like, ran down the road, you
- 25:26know what I mean? It was a little bit of a lame.
- 25:28Experience. I don't know.
- 25:29Those rows are real open for a real long time.
- 25:31Yeah, but you're. Not going to be able to see it
- 25:33from your house in the fucking hall or.
- 25:35Yeah, but it wouldn't take long for them to, like, just drive up
- 25:38and see her. I would feel very exposed.
- 25:41I get it. Yeah, but I mean, but the
- 25:44alternative is to hang around the house and watch Weatherface
- 25:47do his lessons. Nah.
- 25:51You know, what about the last? Yeah, that like that right
- 25:54there. I don't, I think like, you go,
- 25:56you try and run or what, you're going to hang around the
- 26:00killer's house and just kind of fucking deal with that shit.
- 26:03No, I think that was kind of lame, OK.
- 26:06Also, I thought it was kind of a strange decision to put
- 26:10Weatherface in the camp of doing The Walking chase instead of the
- 26:14running chase, because that was his.
- 26:15Thing he. Runs.
- 26:16They gave him like a like a leg brace and he can't really run in
- 26:20this movie, which, you know, I like the trope of the like
- 26:23walking killer. Like it.
- 26:24It's a tense thing and it works usually.
- 26:27But Weatherface's strength was he's this large dude that moves
- 26:31fast and he chases you with a loud chainsaw.
- 26:33That shit is scary. Don't fuck with that formula.
- 26:37But other than that, that's the only bad things I had to say
- 26:39about it. I guess my bad is we didn't
- 26:44really have much of a tie in between the beginning with like
- 26:49the mass graves to everything else.
- 26:52Like I get that it was meant to be kind of implied, but like
- 26:55even in the first one there were talking about like graves being
- 26:57desecrated and what what not. Like it is literally fully tied
- 27:02in at the end, you know what I mean?
- 27:04So I think that like, yeah, like some stuff like, you know, show,
- 27:11not tell, whatever. But I do think that like
- 27:14sometimes you need to make that connection a bit more like
- 27:17solid, you know? Yeah, yeah, that's true.
- 27:20Yeah. It didn't like they didn't drive
- 27:22it home. Also the pills that why is Benny
- 27:27just driving around with these hard narcotic drugs and how do
- 27:33they work through their systems so fast?
- 27:36He strikes me as the type of dude that's like, he's like,
- 27:40he's probably in the NRA and those aren't necessarily the
- 27:44most hinged people. He's a weakened warrior.
- 27:46He admits it himself. He's a guy that goes up there.
- 27:49He's the doomsday prepper. He's not fully together there.
- 27:53You know what I mean? Yeah.
- 27:54So he, you know, him being a pill popper doesn't necessarily
- 27:58stand out to me as strange. I just love that he's like
- 28:00giving us. He doesn't even check what other
- 28:02types of meds they might have in their systems already.
- 28:05Is like, it might make me extra high, like here, try this.
- 28:07Like you'll have it even like you'll roll hard.
- 28:10Yeah. All right.
- 28:14Ugly. Ugly.
- 28:15Well, we have the poor little Armandillo death in the
- 28:19beginning. I don't like that.
- 28:22And then we have Alfredo doing his gas station peeping on
- 28:27Michelle, which is nasty. So gross.
- 28:30Yeah, but yeah, what about you? I'm gonna say that like before,
- 28:36the idea of Leatherface raping was more metaphorical.
- 28:41Dude in the way that they talked about him, they're like, oh he
- 28:44like the private parts is his specialty.
- 28:46He knows what to do with them Parts like what the.
- 28:49Fuck, I guess once the rest of his family died and he was like
- 28:52sex. Nobody knows sex people do knows
- 28:55now. Yes, we do know about skex
- 28:59Italians. Then Mama like, cut herself off.
- 29:03I guess I I don't know what. They were so weird about their
- 29:07like they were just so open and up for about their genital
- 29:10mutilation. This franchise's relationship to
- 29:13sex is, I mean, I was going to say they could do like studies
- 29:16on it, but there, there are studies on it.
- 29:18You know what I mean? That was another thing about
- 29:20this, you know, like this movie did keep the like the the gender
- 29:25bending stuff present. Yeah, it's not necessarily there
- 29:28with Weather Face, but it's Tex that has it.
- 29:33I don't know if you picked up. I liked him in his little frilly
- 29:35apron. Yeah, the frilly apron.
- 29:36I don't know if you noticed he also painted his nails.
- 29:39I didn't notice that, no. They called it out in the
- 29:41documentary because it was a, it was an intentional thing.
- 29:44Like they made him like, the matriarch role in the house.
- 29:47OK. Yeah.
- 29:49And then I think that they said, like, they thought that texting
- 29:51was trying to, like, overcompensation on the macho.
- 29:54That's why he like insists on like being referred to as texts.
- 29:58You don't like being called Eddie?
- 30:00Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 30:02What's your third? I got roadkill flirting, I
- 30:06guess, like a text flirting over the roadkill with Michelle and
- 30:09he goes over there and wipes the blood off of the grill and I
- 30:13think he thinks it's like a real sexy move.
- 30:15He spent too much time with the weird family.
- 30:18It's sexy in his world. Yeah, I also think it's funny
- 30:21that. So Weatherface, obviously weapon
- 30:24of choice. The saw.
- 30:25Yeah, but when all else fails, he has a tiny saw in his pocket
- 30:29that he uses as a backup. Oh.
- 30:31My God, the little Dremel saw when they pulled that out I was
- 30:35like die. It's great, right?
- 30:36Like if he's gonna have a backup, it's another saw.
- 30:39I love it. That's that was amazing.
- 30:42Yeah, I love that a lot. And just, I love that scene of
- 30:46him doing his lesson. Like he's on that little
- 30:50machine. He's like, all right, it's a
- 30:51picture of a coin. I was like, what is this?
- 30:52And he just keeps typing. OOD like over.
- 30:56Wrong answer. It's like try again.
- 30:58And he's just like FOOD. Like he's like, this is Zoe.
- 31:02This is Zoe Energy. So when my sister was little,
- 31:06she, my younger sister, she had a little leapfrog thing and you
- 31:09could press 3 letters to make a word it was supposed to like, so
- 31:12that way kids could do like DoD dog.
- 31:15Yeah, one night my mom and I were sitting around playing with
- 31:18it and we were trying to like spell dirty words words and it
- 31:21wouldn't let us cuz it'd be like press 3 letters to make a word
- 31:24and we'd go AS and when you hit S the second time instead of
- 31:28saying it, it would say press 3 letters to make a word.
- 31:31They thought of. It yeah and even if you did like
- 31:33if you tried to trick it if you tried to do like fuk it would
- 31:36still it would go F you press 3 letters to make a word.
- 31:41In a way, it said. F you still all right?
- 31:46What are your absurds? My absurd.
- 31:49You hit on a lot of them. But I also want to kind of talk
- 31:52about Benny, him the way he was talking to Ryan the whole time
- 31:58and he just goes yes, yes. Melton lumberjacks.
- 32:01Mm hmm. Like, yeah, yeah, I loved.
- 32:04That and I also loved that like this found family is so much
- 32:07more functional than the actual Sawyers cuz like I know, you
- 32:10know, the past two movies we've seen every time, like they're
- 32:12all in the house together. They're just screaming at each
- 32:15other. And this time, like, Tinker
- 32:17calls text Eddie and he goes, you know, I don't like that.
- 32:20He goes, I'm sorry, text like and like they just, they
- 32:23resolved their differences so peacefully.
- 32:26And I like the dynamic of Leatherface actually, like they
- 32:30pick on him, but he sticks up for himself in this one.
- 32:32Like he like when he throws his cassette player in the oven, he
- 32:35grabs him. Like you reach in there and you
- 32:37get. And he wouldn't let Tinker reach
- 32:39in with his hook, he said No, you use the hand that will hurt.
- 32:43That was awesome. I love that version of
- 32:46Leatherface. Yeah, I like that he's not the
- 32:48punching bag. Yeah, but they still made him
- 32:50feel sweet because I feel a little bit bad for him when he's
- 32:53trying to type food. I'm like, oh man, you're trying.
- 32:55I also like the implications that he clearly talks to them
- 32:58when the cameras aren't around because that little girl's
- 33:01doll's name is Sally. I didn't even catch that holy.
- 33:05Shit. Yeah.
- 33:05So like, clearly he's like told his daughter about Sally.
- 33:09Wow man, I didn't even think of that.
- 33:11And where did those tiny bones come from?
- 33:13I know. Birds I.
- 33:16Hope so. Baby bones aren't going to be
- 33:19that big. They're not even like that well
- 33:21formed at that size. What do you know about baby
- 33:23bones? I know a lot about baby bones
- 33:27that felt weird staying in such a weird chaotic that single line
- 33:31I'm pulling as a. Trailer and that's gonna be
- 33:34that's our teaser trailer for this episode.
- 33:36OK, Yeah. OK, OK.
- 33:40It's time to rate it. It is time to rate it.
- 33:43Man, this one is a lot of fun. Like I said before, this is one
- 33:46of my favorite in the series. I am gonna go against the grain
- 33:50on it. I'm gonna give it a nine.
- 33:52I'm gonna give it a 7 1/2. OK, OK.
- 33:55I think it's a lot of fun. I enjoyed it a lot more the
- 33:58first time, like just turning off my brain and watching it
- 34:00when I was taking notes with it. There were a couple parts where
- 34:02it felt like it dragged on maybe just a little bit.
- 34:05But I still think it's, I don't understand why this is a movie
- 34:08that people do not talk about more in the franchise, you know?
- 34:11Yeah, I've seen a lot of people complain about it and I think
- 34:14one of the things I used to see was they felt it wasn't enough
- 34:18weather face, but I feel like it's the same amount of the
- 34:21weather face as we get in a lot of other ones.
- 34:24Yeah. Also, I feel like we should
- 34:26mention we watched the unrated version.
- 34:29There are legitimate complaints about the R1 because they talked
- 34:32about that in the documentary too.
- 34:34They had to do a lot of cuts, which is weird because Part 2,
- 34:39they were they released that one unrated, but they he was
- 34:42contractually obligated to release an R rated movie for
- 34:45this one. So they had to cut a lot of the
- 34:49gore out and yeah, that, I think that's part of where that
- 34:54tagline comes from, because there were news flying like news
- 34:57clippings of like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, like cut down severely
- 35:01or whatever, like it was. And there were people that
- 35:03protested the movie and everything too.
- 35:05It was kind of weird. OK.
- 35:08That makes sense then if you have the option definitely watch
- 35:10the unrated version because seeing the differences they did
- 35:13some comparisons in that thing and you get a very new product
- 35:17on the R rated cut. I I'm just thinking about like
- 35:21our comparisons to the TV versus uncut version of Tremors.
- 35:26Oh yeah, and stay alive, yeah. Yeah.
- 35:30OK. So we have a starting average of
- 35:328.25. Good, which I think this movie
- 35:34has earned. Let's see if it holds up under
- 35:37scrutiny. Let's give it a shot.
- 35:40So Sally Hardesty died in a private health facility in 1977.
- 35:45WE Sawyer was the only living family member found he was tried
- 35:50since WE. Sawyer.
- 35:52I don't know which one that was. They changed the names in.
- 35:54This. Yeah, I think.
- 35:55It was supposed to be the cook. He was sentenced to death and he
- 36:00was put to death via gas in 1981, and the jury just kind of
- 36:04decided that Leatherface was just his alter ego that he put
- 36:08on. They were the mask, they were
- 36:10just trying to get a conviction. I think, yeah, it felt like
- 36:13really sloppy lawyer work, you know, and then it also let the
- 36:16cops, like, not have to look for this lawyers anymore.
- 36:18Yeah, so they gas chambered him and that's pretty much it.
- 36:22Yep, we opened up with a woman getting sledged, hammered in the
- 36:26face. She's killed.
- 36:28I didn't write anything about this opening because it felt
- 36:31inconsequential, truly. Well, it kind of sets some
- 36:34things up because we get him doing that.
- 36:36He's cutting open like he's cutting the face off and putting
- 36:38it up. But we see the girl that ends up
- 36:41being the survivor is watching him the entire time and you kind
- 36:44of like we were talking about. I think our meant to believe
- 36:47she's part of the family, but she's afraid of him.
- 36:50She hides from him and he goes and like he hears her but
- 36:54doesn't see her. So what we've got to a couple,
- 36:57Michelle and Ryan, they're on a road trip, but basically they're
- 37:01breaking up and they're driving from LA to Florida.
- 37:05So this is a really uncomfortable road trip to just
- 37:07break up on because she said she she's supposed to be going to
- 37:10New York after they drop her car off with her dad.
- 37:13Thinks you want to be an accountant.
- 37:15Probably if that's where you go to be an accountant.
- 37:17Yeah, that's the place. So I, I don't know why he's on
- 37:23this trip. He seems kind of like, I don't
- 37:26know, we don't have enough context of what the conversation
- 37:29was beforehand, but she said acting like enough of a Dick
- 37:31during this. And I'm like, I can't give a
- 37:33chance to get away from you, dude.
- 37:34She said that she wanted us to be their one last hurrah
- 37:37together, but he is like, well, like, what's the point?
- 37:41We're breaking up anyways? This feels kind of moot.
- 37:45So then why did he come on the trip?
- 37:46I don't know. Yeah, I think he should have
- 37:49like made the call to stay if he felt this.
- 37:51Way yeah, like if we're breaking up anyway, don't want to be
- 37:53together, I'm going to be a Dick to you the whole time like why
- 37:56make us both miserable and ride in the car his.
- 37:58Pee Pee was saying breakup sex, but his heart was saying I don't
- 38:02think I really want to be. Here right now.
- 38:05So then they get stuck in some traffic where we've got like CSI
- 38:10and 1st responders are uncovering a mass grave.
- 38:13Yeah, it's like a big body pit. Yeah.
- 38:17They have found 40 to 50, but then.
- 38:21Or 50 to 70. The news reporter like cuts
- 38:23immediately after the cop told him that it's like 60 to 70.
- 38:26Like is the reporter lying or is the cop lying?
- 38:29Yeah, you. Or did they just find more in
- 38:31between now and then? But there's like a roadblock And
- 38:34yeah, they're like just stopping people in the way.
- 38:36Yes, yeah, they're checking to see if there's no reason to be
- 38:39suspicious. And Michelle's like, yeah, no,
- 38:41we're just dropping from LA to Florida.
- 38:43And the cop's like, mm, hmm, sure.
- 38:44And she goes, yeah, I'm leaving the car to my dad.
- 38:47I've got the bill of sales right here.
- 38:49Yeah. Why didn't you fly, ma'am?
- 38:51And she's like, well, I'm delivering the car, Sir.
- 38:54And he's like, OK then. Yeah, OK, so now it's the next
- 38:58day again. I don't even know if they
- 39:00stopped but. Yeah, time is very loosey goosey
- 39:03in this movie. And we talked about this before
- 39:05about we forget how big Texas is, but like, I'm so stressed
- 39:09thinking about what was their, how did they handle stops?
- 39:12Like she said, she just wanted to get through Texas.
- 39:15Yeah, I think they drove overnight, which explains why
- 39:18they are so sleep deprived that they hit an armadillo.
- 39:21Yeah, and they pull over and it's in pain and she's gonna put
- 39:25it out of its misery, but she can't bring herself to do it, so
- 39:28she makes Ryan do. It don't worry if you're
- 39:31concerned we won't see the full character arc relating to Mercy
- 39:34killing the armadillo, it'll happen.
- 39:37Yeah, yeah. Don't worry.
- 39:38It comes full circle. So they make it to a gas
- 39:43station, they're gonna gas up. And use the bathroom.
- 39:47Yep, she's going to go use the bathroom.
- 39:48And that's just like flooded me back with memories of being like
- 39:52on road trips. And I hate, hate the gas
- 39:55stations where the entrance to the bathroom is on the outside
- 39:58because you know those are going to be gross bathrooms.
- 40:00They're always going to be gross and they're always going to be
- 40:02creepy. Like 10 * / I would take the gas
- 40:06station bathroom right down from our house that has the special
- 40:08lights where you can't see your veins.
- 40:10Like because that's indoors and it's a single stall and I feel
- 40:14it's cleaner. Those.
- 40:17Yeah, like. Less suspect.
- 40:19See, and the the extra part that makes some of these bad is like
- 40:22you have to go ask for the key, which, yeah, hello, we're from
- 40:25Kentucky. We get it.
- 40:26We people use in these bathrooms.
- 40:28I get why there's a yeah policy for that, but like there was a
- 40:33time where I had to do that. I was like, fuck that.
- 40:35And I went outside the gas station.
- 40:36I just peed right then and there so.
- 40:40Yeah, I just also like the dignity of having to ask for a
- 40:43key to do something like all humans do.
- 40:46Like, I don't know, I just, it's just a bummer, man.
- 40:51Yeah, it is, but they are interrupted by Alfredo, who is
- 40:57this movie's hitchhiker. Yeah.
- 40:59Camera. He has a sack of Knick knacks
- 41:02and he takes a picture of Michelle and he tries to barter
- 41:05with her like the hitchhiker does.
- 41:07Yeah, and she's uncomfortable. Tex comes in, interrupts and I
- 41:12feel like he is also uncomfortable with her, but she
- 41:15accepts his flirting a little bit more.
- 41:17Do you think Texas is uncomfortable with her?
- 41:19Yeah, Texas is like trying to be a little flirty here.
- 41:22Yeah, and I like again, I'm at a gas station, I stop to pee and
- 41:26get gas. I did not come here to be
- 41:28flirted with and watch some man lick blood off my front bumper.
- 41:31She is surprisingly receptive. To that's what I'm saying.
- 41:34Like I wrote, Alfredo is very scary and other guy says that he
- 41:38hasn't been the same since he lost his job at the
- 41:40slaughterhouse is also creepy but Michelle is into it.
- 41:43Yeah. And Ryan isn't really not into
- 41:47that because he's like, can you all give me a ride?
- 41:50And he's like, Ryan's like, Nope, Nope, no chance.
- 41:51We got to go. We got to drop off a car.
- 41:53He's like, I know where we can stop for a drink.
- 41:56Yeah, I'll give you all burgers. And then Michelle's like, I
- 41:58don't know, maybe we can get him.
- 42:00And then like Ryan shoots her like daggers.
- 42:03Which, yeah, also like. Not cool if you were like, you
- 42:06know, if The thing is over, whatever, But I think it's still
- 42:08a little bit too fresh to do that in front of, you know, your
- 42:11ex. I think that's still a Dick
- 42:12move. Also, just don't invite a
- 42:14stranger into your car. Like, I get it, sometimes people
- 42:16really are truly down on their luck and need a ride somewhere,
- 42:19but absolutely not under no circumstances.
- 42:22Yeah, not anymore. No, fuck.
- 42:23That there there are ways to help people without doing that.
- 42:26And if you don't have ways to help them without like inviting
- 42:28them in your hurry, just say really sorry I'm unable to
- 42:30assist you because same concept with gas stations needing to use
- 42:34keys. It's a bummer and it sucks but
- 42:36also like. It's reality, man.
- 42:38Yeah, it's the world we live in. But Michelle's like, OK, I'm
- 42:41gonna go pee. So she goes to the bathroom,
- 42:44Alfredo goes inside, and he starts to peek behind the, like,
- 42:48poster in a hole in the wall where the Alfredo can see it
- 42:51all. And Travis and Tex goes in,
- 42:59catches him peep and tosses him out of the gas station.
- 43:03Michelle comes out and finds out what went down.
- 43:05This causes a ruckus with Alfredo who goes and gets a
- 43:08shotgun and holds him up and Tex is like go on get so and they
- 43:14get in their car and peel out and as they're doing that
- 43:16Alfredo shoots the windshield, the back windshield of the car
- 43:20and then seemingly shoots techs so.
- 43:22As well. Yeah, so they're like freaking
- 43:25out about all this and they're just driving off and they don't
- 43:28want to stop except they they blow their tire out and it's
- 43:32night time again when this happens.
- 43:34Yeah, and they were pulled over there replacing the tire.
- 43:38As they're doing that, Michelle's holding the wipe, but
- 43:40she keeps hearing a squeaky step that's coming and approaching.
- 43:44Here's where I get Ryan's frustration with her.
- 43:47She's like, I need the light, Michelle.
- 43:50Everybody that has done work with their dad is having bad
- 43:53flashlights or flashbacks here, like holding the flashlight.
- 43:58I've been that boy and I like this.
- 44:00Tool that like it's a flashlight but the other end is like a
- 44:03flashing light which is good for like warning other cars like.
- 44:07Yeah, pulled. Over with issues.
- 44:09It's it's good and roadside tool for sure.
- 44:12They are not able to fully get the tire installed before a
- 44:16leather face shows up with this chainsaw and goes Burr.
- 44:19Yeah. And they hop in the car and he
- 44:22starts carving up the side of it and then he.
- 44:25Pulls off the trunk as they drive away.
- 44:27Yeah, this car has like a really bad time shifting in the gear.
- 44:30They're able to like, put it in reverse and hit him.
- 44:32Yeah, but like, he's able to get back up because they can't shift
- 44:35it in the drive. Yeah.
- 44:36By the time he does, he chainsaws the back of it and
- 44:38grabs onto it. And then, yeah, he just Yanks
- 44:41the entire trunk off the. Yeah, so they drive and they're
- 44:44driving and Ryan's like, hey, we're far enough away, we need
- 44:46to pull over and tighten the lug nuts.
- 44:48And she's like, Nope, not stopping.
- 44:49And he's like, we have to or we are going to lose the tire and
- 44:52then we will be in real big trouble.
- 44:54Yeah, they don't want to do that.
- 44:55Yeah, so they pull over to titanium.
- 44:59No, they are about. To pull over, tighten.
- 45:01Them but as they are, we see Ken Ferray Benny he is driving down
- 45:06the other side of the road. They have who I now realize is
- 45:11Tinker pop out in the middle of the road, which causes them to
- 45:15swerve and then just go off the road.
- 45:19They Benny didn't see that guy. He just saw them and I guess he
- 45:23also wrecked. Because they drove inside the
- 45:25lane, they were about to hit him.
- 45:27He starts to avoid being hit. His Jeep flips.
- 45:29They go down the embankment. Yeah.
- 45:32And so he gets out and he goes to check on him, and Ryan has
- 45:35crawled out of the wreckage. Fuck Michelle, Right?
- 45:38They're broken up. Whatever.
- 45:39Michelle's knocked out, yeah. Yeah.
- 45:41And Benny comes down there and he's like, no, there's this guy.
- 45:45There's like a lot of them. They're planning an attack.
- 45:48They got a chainsaw. And that's when Benny goes,
- 45:50yeah, yeah, those militant numbers.
- 45:52Sure, sure. Yup, Yup.
- 45:55I don't know why, but that is the funniest fucking response
- 45:58that I could have ever. And like, here's The thing is, I
- 46:01like to help people, but I'm also kind of a Dick and I could
- 46:04see myself saying something like that.
- 46:06It just doesn't track with this character though because he's a
- 46:08doomsday prepper and he like comes out to these parts to do
- 46:11training. That's on the weekend.
- 46:12That's not what he's preparing for.
- 46:14He doesn't think that the world is going to go down in a flaming
- 46:18bottle of militant lumberjacks. You know, he thinks it's going
- 46:20to be like bombing or nuclear weaponry.
- 46:24Yeah, that's true. He's but he's prepared for this.
- 46:27They managed to get Michelle out of the car and she's awake and
- 46:30she's saying the same thing. Oh shit, this is real.
- 46:33Yeah, so he heads up. He's like, don't worry, I can
- 46:35handle this. Take these pills.
- 46:37Don't ask any questions until after you've followed them.
- 46:40Give them the pills and then he's like by the way, they will
- 46:43make you drowsy. They're like what the fuck dude,
- 46:45they are so mad. Right for me.
- 46:47So so Ryan is pre Med and his reaction is like we gotta move
- 46:51around and metabolize these in our system not hey finger down
- 46:56the throat real quick. Yeah, you could throw them up.
- 46:58You could totally do that man. What a dummy.
- 47:02And I like this part cuz this is so relatable where he is like
- 47:06Michelle, Michelle, we gotta go. She's like, she's like, I'm too
- 47:09sleepy. I get it.
- 47:10Like leave me alone, I'll die. 100% yeah.
- 47:14There have been plenty of times and I'm like, somebody's here,
- 47:16kill me. Like just kill me in my sleep.
- 47:19I'm tired. There have been times.
- 47:20It's fun, Jesse. Let's go to bed like.
- 47:22No. It's like 5:00 AM, we need to go
- 47:24and lay down in bed. I'm more comfortable on the
- 47:27couch. I'm old now and my back and neck
- 47:31will hate me for it in the morning, but right now it feels
- 47:33good. It's.
- 47:34Just funny. So Benny goes up to his Jeep and
- 47:38he sees, what do you know, a guy with the tow truck set in flares
- 47:41on the side of. The Yeah, And he's like, cool,
- 47:44can you help me flip my Jeep back up?
- 47:46He goes, what do you think I'm doing this?
- 47:49Guy's way too aggressive. He's got like 20 flares set up.
- 47:53There is nobody else coming, man.
- 47:56What is he doing? Yeah, what is?
- 47:58And really, he's just like he's making a lane because it's like
- 48:00one over here and one over here. They're parallel with each
- 48:02other. Yeah, it's almost like a landing
- 48:05strip. That's what he was.
- 48:06He was like, this is my road to where I'm gonna hit your Jeep.
- 48:09Yeah, I'm just letting you know this is the direction I'm going.
- 48:12He's. Theatrical he is.
- 48:13They said it. They say it later like he likes
- 48:15to put Chrome on everything. Anything.
- 48:17This is the Chrome for the for the killing.
- 48:20Scene dude OK before by the way we we saw a gas right at the gas
- 48:25station and truck pull out. I want to dub this truck weather
- 48:29truck because it also has the weather on the hood of the car.
- 48:34It has weather on its face. There are people who put covers
- 48:38on their cars like that around here, so that way they don't get
- 48:40like, I guess like salt from the road.
- 48:44Yeah, that makes sense. Yeah, I just thought it was
- 48:46funny that they, like, put a weather face on the truck too.
- 48:49So Benny goes into the bed of the truck and sees a chainsaw
- 48:55there, and he's like, oh shit. Oh shit, it's one of the
- 48:56lumberjacks. So he's like, hey, hold on one
- 49:00second. I gotta go get something from my
- 49:01Jeep before we flip my Jeep. And Tinker's sitting there going
- 49:05like, this is kind of suspicious.
- 49:07So he lets then he go over there and Benny, of course, he has
- 49:11named his gun. And of course it's Lucille.
- 49:12Hell yeah. And so he's trying to get
- 49:14Lucille together, but all his training ain't worth nothing.
- 49:18You can't grab a bullet to save. Cannot.
- 49:21Does he take some of these pills too?
- 49:23He's popping pills, OK, There's no question.
- 49:25He's like, don't worry, my tolerance is much higher.
- 49:27I can have a pill and be OK. He.
- 49:29Is the reason why there are keys at these gas stations?
- 49:32Oh no, not Benny. Yeah, but he's got his gun and
- 49:37he's grabbing enough bullets and Tinker just he's like, fuck it,
- 49:41he goes full throttle and he hits the Jeep full throttle.
- 49:44Benny jumps out of the way just in.
- 49:46Time. Yep.
- 49:47And then he goes down the hill and Leather Pace is ready down
- 49:51there. So they fight and during the
- 49:53file Leatherface drops his saw and that's when he pulls out his
- 49:55little Dremel saw from his pocket.
- 49:57I love. It it was so cool.
- 49:59It's amazing. Yeah.
- 50:00I love that they did that. Meanwhile, the girl from the
- 50:03opening turns out is on the people side.
- 50:06Yeah, 'cause she lures, yeah, she lures Leatherface away, and
- 50:09when she gets them away, she leaves back around and she is
- 50:12directing Benny on where they can go to try and be safe.
- 50:14Meanwhile, Ryan and Michelle have woken up.
- 50:17They're trying to walk off the myths.
- 50:19Yeah, Benny is with the girl here.
- 50:23She has her hand injured. It's like cut.
- 50:27And she says that she's been out there a week.
- 50:29She's the only one left. They got her sister.
- 50:32Yeah. No, her sister's already dead.
- 50:34Well. Yeah, that's why, yeah, she was
- 50:36on the road with her. Sister.
- 50:37Yeah. She was on the road with her
- 50:38sister. They stopped because they saw a
- 50:39man that they thought was hurt and it was actually a trap.
- 50:42Yeah. So kind of the same thing that
- 50:43happened to Ron and Michelle. And Benny is like trying to
- 50:49figure out what their plan's gonna be.
- 50:50And then he hears Michelle shouting for him.
- 50:52So he's like, OK, I'm gonna go help.
- 50:55And we're gonna see if maybe we can also draw the bad guys out
- 50:57into the light. And he leaves the woman behind.
- 51:00And when he leaves her behind, Leatherface comes in and kills
- 51:04her with a little stealthy Nick Wranglin.
- 51:07Yeah, he gets her up against the tree and saucer.
- 51:10Yeah. And that was one of the kills
- 51:12that really got neutered with the R rated cut.
- 51:15Right there, really. Yeah, you don't see anything.
- 51:18Yeah. So Benny is wandering around.
- 51:21He's a he's by a swamp now, and he sees some booby traps or so,
- 51:25and he sets one off. Yeah.
- 51:26Ryan and Michelle go running. Yeah, because they hear this
- 51:29all. And as they're running, Ryan
- 51:31falls because he gets caught in a bear trap.
- 51:34And he tells Michelle to just keep going because there's no
- 51:36way for him to get out. It would have been funny if this
- 51:40is where they broke up. It's just like Guy.
- 51:44It'd just be like Ryan. I think we should see other
- 51:47people just and it just runs off.
- 51:49It would have been funny. She runs and of course she finds
- 51:53a house and when she goes and she knocks on the door, nobody
- 51:56answers, so she goes inside. Bad calling.
- 52:00Every time. Do not go into a house that you
- 52:04do not know the owner of, especially not in Texas, but
- 52:07they have guns. Yeah, it's, it's never gonna.
- 52:10Be It's always a bad idea, yeah. She sees a little tiny child at
- 52:15the top of the stairs that's crying.
- 52:17So. So she follows her up there, and
- 52:19she sees a little girl and she's a cradle in her doll.
- 52:21And she's like, oh, you got a doll?
- 52:23And the little girl turns it around.
- 52:24And I assume this has to be like, when guests in our house
- 52:27see Talia with one of her toys, and she brings them over and
- 52:30their faces are torn open. Yeah, yeah.
- 52:32She's like, oh, so see. Oh, no, because yeah, she's just
- 52:35playing with a sack of bones, quite literally.
- 52:39And so she's kind of freaked out, and then the little girl
- 52:45stabs her leg while she's distracted this kid.
- 52:47'S a fucking little shit. Holy hell.
- 52:50I did not expect her to stab. Her and as Michelle is reeling
- 52:54from the what the fuck of it all, Tex is behind her and grabs
- 52:57her and then nails her two edge hair with some nasty 3 inch wood
- 53:04nails. Yeah, yeah, I was getting a
- 53:07little worried and I was like, no, not another dinner scene.
- 53:10Yeah, well, don't worry, it's OK.
- 53:12Yeah, they did kind of milk her, for lack of a better term, so
- 53:15that way they could just, you know, bottle feed the blood to
- 53:19Grandpa. But we don't have him like
- 53:21suckling anymore. He's dead.
- 53:23Yeah, they're still pouring the blood on his face.
- 53:25Yeah, that was another thing that they actually acknowledge,
- 53:27like he's actually dead. They just keep his mummified
- 53:30body around. Thank God that they fully
- 53:32acknowledge it. So here's another thing I like
- 53:34about this movie. We have Alfredo now he's
- 53:37wondering the swamp, the woods, and he's just like muttering to
- 53:40himself about all this shit. He's like, I'll fucking get your
- 53:42text. I.
- 53:43I get it though. Like I'm one of those.
- 53:45I talk to myself so much when I'm alone, and it's real
- 53:48embarrassing at work when I think I'm alone in my office and
- 53:50then somebody walks in and I'm like, how much of that did you
- 53:52hear? It's just, I love the way he
- 53:54speaks, like he's just got this like accent, like this voice to
- 53:59him. It's funny.
- 54:00I like it. Tinker arrives back home.
- 54:03He's he brings Ryan with him and he has a special present for
- 54:08Leatherface also, which is a be chromed saw with a little curly
- 54:13cue and some fancy engraving that says the saw is family and
- 54:18I really like the love and care that tinker put into that for
- 54:21him. I did you know what this is what
- 54:24sometimes fan family is better than like the blood family it.
- 54:28Is nice. Can you imagine getting this
- 54:29thing custom ordered? It had to be a custom order.
- 54:32You don't just go into a shop and get that.
- 54:33I mean it had the engraved I think.
- 54:35Tinker did it himself, I think that's why he was called.
- 54:37Tinker, you think? Oh, you know, I bet you're
- 54:39right. Yeah, they would.
- 54:41They talked about this chainsaw. Apparently that chainsaw was 80
- 54:44lbs. I believe it.
- 54:47I think most chainsaws are probably decently heavy, but.
- 54:49I said that was the biggest chainsaw you could order.
- 54:51It's huge. Dang.
- 54:53For any of you people who are aware of Sephiroth, that's like
- 54:56Sephiroth's sword right there for chainsaws.
- 54:58It's the biggest fucking thing you can get.
- 55:01But Tinker's like, wait a minute, did you get your present
- 55:05a little bit too soon? Because there's one person that
- 55:07you didn't get out there and. So he takes.
- 55:11Yeah, so Leatherface had taken the Walkman off of Ryan and
- 55:16really likes listening to the music and whatnot and.
- 55:19He went over to Michelle and he's like, hey, you hear this
- 55:22song? This is kind of.
- 55:23Cool right, He's trying to share with her and she was not into
- 55:25it. So he's like, fine, more for me.
- 55:27And then Tinker because he can't take back the Saul because he
- 55:31was too excited about it, right? So he was like, I'm gonna take
- 55:33this toy from ya. And he tosses it into the fire.
- 55:36And then Leatherface does the whole thing like we mentioned
- 55:38before, where he makes him fetch it out with his non hook hand.
- 55:41I fucking love it. And then he goes to Mama.
- 55:43I know. And he was just like, so like,
- 55:46pathetic. And he was.
- 55:47Like, you know what this was? This was Talia Energy when she's
- 55:50getting bullied by the cats and she goes over there and sticks
- 55:52up for herself and then she comes over to us and she's like,
- 55:54did you guys see that? Usually there is so.
- 55:56Mean to me there. Is there are tenths of my weight
- 55:59but there are so mean to me. Scary.
- 56:02It's so. Scary.
- 56:03They've got claws. It's that energy.
- 56:06It makes you. Feel bad for Weatherface.
- 56:08And the whole time we're like, yeah, I know baby, there's no
- 56:11mean to you. They shouldn't act like.
- 56:12That How do these movies continue to make Weatherface
- 56:15sympathetic? I don't know.
- 56:17It's because they make them childlike.
- 56:20Probably, yeah. I'm like, I do just want to
- 56:22like, adopt him and let him listen to his tapes and do his
- 56:24crafts, you know? Yeah, Also one of my favorite
- 56:27things I noticed if you look on the fridge, you can see they
- 56:30they've got old drawings on there and the little girl has
- 56:34like done a drawing of Leatherface with his mask on in
- 56:36chainsaw and everything. It's like just like a kid
- 56:38drawing. That's that's a cute addition.
- 56:40It was really sweet, I thought it was funny.
- 56:43Also I should mention Ryan is alive.
- 56:45Yeah. He is like cut up but they hang
- 56:48him up on the meat hooks. And he's just going.
- 56:51Yeah, and they're about to kill him, but then the little girl's
- 56:54like, hey, I want to do it this time.
- 56:57So they got a count to 3 and when they do she pulls the cord
- 57:00and it releases a hammer and just.
- 57:03Yeah, that was another scene that was really big that needed
- 57:05to be cut. You don't see any of that in the
- 57:08arc. Like they she pulls the thing
- 57:10and that's that. They don't even show the
- 57:12sledgehammer. No, no, you can't.
- 57:14They had to cut it. Yeah, entirely.
- 57:16What the hell? I know it sucks.
- 57:17That was so cool. I think that they were, they
- 57:19felt really bad about that because they even show that on
- 57:22the DVD menu. If you go to the special
- 57:24features and you hit that, that's what it is.
- 57:26It's like, here's the cut and it's like a sledgehammer hits
- 57:30him in the face. Meanwhile, out in the woods,
- 57:32Benny sneaks up on Alfredo or Fred, depending on how
- 57:36comfortable you feel talking to him, and he's got the gun, but
- 57:40instead of shooting him, he just like, hits him with the butt of
- 57:42the gun and then dumps him in the water.
- 57:46He thinks it kills him, which, you know, Benny, you're not that
- 57:49strong. Well, it doesn't matter because
- 57:52he's on a mission. He finds the house and then
- 57:56through the window he sees Michelle tied up and here he's
- 57:58like all the shouting and whatnot and.
- 58:00Leatherface is doing his lessons.
- 58:02Here. Yeah.
- 58:03And Leatherface has been sent after him.
- 58:04You know, he's bullied by his brothers.
- 58:06He's sent to go do his lessons out in the garage.
- 58:09It's such a good scene, so fucking good, I love that.
- 58:12And then Benny shoots. He shoots Mama a lot.
- 58:16He shoots off Tinker's ear, I think.
- 58:20Finger finger. He shoots off his earring like
- 58:23his lobe. I think they get he nixed his.
- 58:25Ear. I feel like I saw an entire ear
- 58:27on the ground. You know, actually I think
- 58:29you're right. I think he does get his ear, but
- 58:30also his finger because that was another thing that they didn't
- 58:33show. They just show him hold up his
- 58:34hand and then they don't even show his finger get shot off.
- 58:37My words are really mashed together on my notes and it
- 58:40looks like I wrote Stinker. Yeah, Throughout the chaos,
- 58:43Michelle wriggles free from her restraints.
- 58:45No, she doesn't wriggle free. She pulls her hand through the
- 58:49nail. Yeah.
- 58:50She's also. Tied up?
- 58:51Yeah, she is tied up, but I feel like she needs credit for doing
- 58:55that. Yeah.
- 58:55That's badass. Yeah.
- 58:56Yeah, use that adrenaline. So she makes it out of there and
- 59:00she's freaked out whenever Benny grab surveys.
- 59:03I guess me, it's me. Yeah.
- 59:05And then Leatherface comes out and so they kind of divide and
- 59:07conquer. She lures Leatherface into the
- 59:09woods, and Benny and Tinker fight, or Benny and Tex fight,
- 59:13rather. Tex comes out and there's like a
- 59:16bunch of gas spilled on the ground.
- 59:18And eventually what Benny does is he uses that gas trail and
- 59:22lights up text. Hell yeah.
- 59:25So, Michelle. She gets caught in a trap.
- 59:28Snare. I thought that, said Cher.
- 59:30And I was trying to figure out what that meant.
- 59:31Yeah, she falls in a snare and it.
- 59:33Drags her into the swamp, yeah, just filled with more bodies.
- 59:38She manages to crawl out, but as she's crawling out, she's.
- 59:41Leatherface comes running up. Yeah, Alfredo is here.
- 59:44At some point the Leatherface comes up and is about to attack
- 59:48her, but Benny has followed and he tackles her before you can
- 59:50get her. And he, they're fighting in the
- 59:54swamp, pond, whatever, and the chainsaw is in the water and
- 59:58leather. Her face holds Benny up against
- 1:00:00the chainsaw. So we think that he is dead.
- 1:00:03And then he comes out and is ready to fight Michelle.
- 1:00:06And she starts, This is the full circle moment with the armadillo
- 1:00:10because she couldn't do it before, but she's doing it now.
- 1:00:12She's got a big boulder and she's saying sorry little guy,
- 1:00:16sorry little guy. She keeps bonking him in the
- 1:00:19head and then he just falls back into the swamp and she's done.
- 1:00:24Yeah, I think the Alfredo stuff was from the ultra ending
- 1:00:26because he pops up during this part.
- 1:00:28No, that's actually Tex. Was it?
- 1:00:30Tex Yeah, cuz they confirmed that in the thing.
- 1:00:33Yeah, like he's cuz he's all fried up.
- 1:00:36You can't even recognize that. Makes sense.
- 1:00:37Yeah, he's like crispy. Well, in this version, in this
- 1:00:40ending, we cut to the next morning.
- 1:00:41Michelle was on the road and she's walking.
- 1:00:43And this is what I was talking about, where she like, she's
- 1:00:45just so exposed and I feel so stressed, but she thinks she's
- 1:00:48killed everybody until the truck pulls up and then she's freaked
- 1:00:51out. But you know, he's driving.
- 1:00:54He's Benny. Yeah, I think it's OK.
- 1:00:55It's me. Yeah, getting in the truck.
- 1:00:57Yeah, I wish we had a little bit more of an explanation like.
- 1:01:00I know they didn't even. They're like, well, people like
- 1:01:02him, so whatever. Yeah, they just show up, I
- 1:01:04guess. Yeah, like I mean Bill Moseley
- 1:01:07in the last movie had a metal plate in his head and even not
- 1:01:10got damaged by the saw, so I wish like.
- 1:01:13They like the you know, the alternate ending shows him get
- 1:01:16cut. Up hard with.
- 1:01:17That chainsaw, yeah, but they cut that in this ending.
- 1:01:21So they're about to have their like, yay, happy moment drive
- 1:01:25off and then Alfredo appears and he hits Benny and Michelle gets
- 1:01:30into the back of the truck and finds a gun and she is holding
- 1:01:35it up against him. And he goes, what do you even
- 1:01:36know about how to use that thing?
- 1:01:37And then? Yeah, gets shotgunned.
- 1:01:41Yep. And they she goes out and gets
- 1:01:44Benny and gets him back in the truck.
- 1:01:45He tries to get in the driver's seat and she's like no, no, no.
- 1:01:49No, yeah, here, take one of your mini pills.
- 1:01:51Yeah. And then they drive off, and as
- 1:01:54they're driving off, we hear some squeaky steps approach and
- 1:01:57it's a leather face. And he pulls the chain.
- 1:02:02Yep, that's how the movie ends. That's.
- 1:02:04How the story goes. All righty, what do you think?
- 1:02:08What do you? Think I'll bump it to an 8.
- 1:02:10OK. Yeah, I'll keep mine at nine.
- 1:02:12Man. I I, I like this movie.
- 1:02:14It's one of the more interesting Texas Chainsaw movies, if you
- 1:02:17ask me. Yeah, I think it has.
- 1:02:19They keep certain characters that are kind of the present
- 1:02:24from the last ones, but they make them their own still.
- 1:02:28And I don't know, I think we get more variety.
- 1:02:30It's it's just it keeps the elements that I like the most
- 1:02:35about the series intact, and it expands on the things I like the
- 1:02:39most, like the chasing and the it's suspense and weather face.
- 1:02:45I like what they do with him in this movie too.
- 1:02:47I think it's fun. Yeah, OK.
- 1:02:50I think the only thing I would really change is maybe just
- 1:02:53like, I just think there are a couple of moments where I'm
- 1:02:56like, do we really need this? Like with the opening credits, I
- 1:03:00feel like that really didn't matter, you know what I mean?
- 1:03:03Ultimately, no, I think it was. It did an OK thing of
- 1:03:06establishing things like it's showing us Weather Face and
- 1:03:08showing us this girl that's going to be a part of the movie,
- 1:03:11but she's really not that big of a thing.
- 1:03:13Yeah, exactly. I think if you're going to have
- 1:03:15her, maybe give her more of a role like she's, I think it's
- 1:03:18cool that they killed her off still, but she just kind of
- 1:03:21showed up and died. It was so like it almost felt
- 1:03:24like you could have cut that and it had really not much of an
- 1:03:27impact on the overall thing. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:03:30No count. What did Talia think?
- 1:03:34So Talia was, she was hungry and growly at the beginning of the
- 1:03:39movie. Yeah, she was just, she was very
- 1:03:41activated. She was very intense.
- 1:03:44And then we paused halfway through for FOOD, I will say,
- 1:03:49and afterwards she was pretty calm.
- 1:03:51As the movie begin, she made me itch her face.
- 1:03:53She had an itchy face, which I think was the hint at weather
- 1:03:56face because she noticed the importance of faces in this.
- 1:03:59And then she began chewing on me, which she recognizes that
- 1:04:03this is a cannibal movie. Yeah.
- 1:04:05So she's like, you know what? I guess I'll eat you too.
- 1:04:06Yeah, so she was giving her approval for watching the movie.
- 1:04:09Yeah. Momentaliness today because I
- 1:04:11was like, you know what, This is important.
- 1:04:12I think she wants me to know this.
- 1:04:14OK. So I think maybe Taya will give
- 1:04:17this an 8 because she ate and they ate in the movie and yeah.
- 1:04:22I think she wagged Leatherface saying that people are food.
- 1:04:25Yeah, yeah, Zoe's open. A warrior can't say Leatherface.
- 1:04:30I know I can't say Leatherface. Because it's a.
- 1:04:32Shame because of the FOOD. AI know.
- 1:04:36I guess the little girl because Zoe chases bugs and whatnot and
- 1:04:40will play with their carcasses. I almost want to give her
- 1:04:43Alfredo. Because she runs around and
- 1:04:47talks to herself. Yeah, she does.
- 1:04:49At night she runs around meowing when nobody's around.
- 1:04:53I think she might be like airing her grievances.
- 1:04:55I could see that she was. Dude, we had to take them to the
- 1:04:58vet this morning, and they were very angry about it.
- 1:05:01But Zoe especially, We got home and let her out of the carrier.
- 1:05:04And just, like, anytime we get near her, she'd just go now.
- 1:05:06Yeah. Like she wasn't making us get
- 1:05:08away, but like she would let us pet and she would just like look
- 1:05:10at us be like meow. She was not a happy.
- 1:05:12Camper, Yeah. She's probably so pissed at us.
- 1:05:14Yeah, we'll probably walk out of here and she'd be like, I feel
- 1:05:16like you owe me something, like more food or something.
- 1:05:19OK, we'll give her Fred. Yeah, you know, you can also
- 1:05:22call him Alf. OK, Alf eats cats.
- 1:05:28I know you don't know this. Alf.
- 1:05:30Exactly. The puppet.
- 1:05:32Yeah. Oh, he eats cats?
- 1:05:34Yeah, fuck that guy. I didn't know that.
- 1:05:38Get the fuck out here, Alf. Go to your own planet.
- 1:05:43OK, OK. Is it time for?
- 1:05:47Rent No. No, it's a tagline.
- 1:05:51No. Who'd you?
- 1:05:52No. Who did you?
- 1:05:53Who'd you relate to? Yeah, yeah, Yeah.
- 1:05:54OK. I think I probably relate to
- 1:06:01Benny because I can see myself saying something like the
- 1:06:04militant Lumberjacks line. OK, Yeah, our way to Ryan.
- 1:06:13Because often times I'm the one that has to kill things because
- 1:06:16you can't muster up the shrink to kill things in this house.
- 1:06:18Excuse. Me.
- 1:06:19Yeah, exactly. Makes me sad.
- 1:06:21So I'll, I'll have to step in and be the one with that rock
- 1:06:24every now and then. OK.
- 1:06:26All right. OK, we don't do dream sequels
- 1:06:29for our franchise episodes, but for this one we are giving them
- 1:06:33names for me to help remembering.
- 1:06:36And this is a very good one, because unfortunately, when you
- 1:06:39just say Leatherface, I think of the really bad sequel that I'm
- 1:06:43dreading talking about in a few months.
- 1:06:45This is a good opportunity. This is the perfect one to start
- 1:06:47like really thinking hard about what we want to call this so you
- 1:06:50can remember it I think. The Joyride Texas dream saw a
- 1:06:59massive. Joyride.
- 1:06:59And I was going to call it like Rd. games or something like
- 1:07:01that. Joyride, joyride.
- 1:07:03Joyride takes a chance on mass for joyride.
- 1:07:06OK, Yeah, I think that that's good.
- 1:07:07OK OK. Well, we'll do that.
- 1:07:10All right. Now is time for attack line,
- 1:07:14let's say. I know about baby bones.
- 1:07:18I know about baby bones. OK, let's.
- 1:07:24Do it. Yay.
- 1:07:25I know about baby bones. Cool.
- 1:07:30If you know, you know. Yeah, hard.
- 1:07:33Where do I ride? Right there.
- 1:07:34Where do I ride? All right, now it's time for
- 1:07:35your movie out. OK, what you got must say.
- 1:07:42All right, where did it go? Where did it go?
- 1:07:45I. Wanna know hold.
- 1:07:51On almost there. Almost there, Almost there.
- 1:07:59OK, 3 out of 10. There's roadkill all over Texas.
- 1:08:04There's so many problems with Leatherface Texas Chainsaw
- 1:08:06Massacre three that I'm not sure where to begin, so I suppose
- 1:08:09I'll try to limit my comments to the characters.
- 1:08:12I couldn't have cared less whether the supposed heroes of
- 1:08:14the movie lived or died. More unlikeable pair.
- 1:08:16Do you really run across? The guy was a sniveling idiot
- 1:08:19and the girl had even less personality.
- 1:08:21Kill him and kill him quick, was the thought running through my
- 1:08:23head. Second, we've got the characters
- 1:08:26that make up leather faces. New family.
- 1:08:28Who are these people and where did they come from?
- 1:08:30I would have thought that the Texas Rangers would have
- 1:08:32completely investigated the Sawyer family and discovered any
- 1:08:35relative who may have taken in Leatherface after the events of
- 1:08:38the 1st 2 movies. And are we supposed to believe
- 1:08:41that the entire extended family is also made-up of inbred
- 1:08:43cannibal serial killers? With a family as large as the
- 1:08:46one presented in these movies, you would think that even if
- 1:08:48just by chance, at least one member of the family would have
- 1:08:51some reservations about hacking up innocent strangers.
- 1:08:54I almost get the feeling that the makers of Leatherface, Texas
- 1:08:56Chainsaw Massacre Three, would have us believe that everyone in
- 1:08:59Texas is a nutty chainsaw welding maniac.
- 1:09:02Finally, there's Leatherface. I'll just say that he's a sad
- 1:09:06imitation of the original. And I know this has nothing to
- 1:09:08do with the character of Leatherface, but what's that
- 1:09:10engraved chainsaw all about? It's a completely ridiculous
- 1:09:13concept. Dude, did you watch Part 2 come?
- 1:09:17On that guy would not have liked the like different chainsaw
- 1:09:20tryouts. No, no.
- 1:09:22He would have hated that. He would be like, why are we
- 1:09:23doing this? What's the point of this?
- 1:09:26Well, I guess if you don't like the characters, it's going to be
- 1:09:29hard for you to enjoy this movie because we do.
- 1:09:32I mean, we don't stick with Ryan the entire time, but we stick
- 1:09:34with Michelle the whole way. Yeah, I they they didn't hear
- 1:09:37them say anything about Kim for Ray's character.
- 1:09:39And I think that's one of the universally loved things about
- 1:09:43this movie is people love his character.
- 1:09:45I think that's why he left it off because he was like, I'm not
- 1:09:47going to talk bad about Kim for Ray.
- 1:09:49Yeah, yeah. I mean, if the family bit
- 1:09:53really, you know, rubs you that raw, like it just if you look
- 1:09:59into the movie, it's not extended family, it's found
- 1:10:01family. It's a bunch of people that
- 1:10:03found each other and you know they all are sticking to each
- 1:10:06other because they have shared interests eating people.
- 1:10:09Yeah. I do think that maybe that's one
- 1:10:11of the things that they could have made a little bit clearer.
- 1:10:13Yeah, I agree. Because I wouldn't have known
- 1:10:14them. I would have I thought that this
- 1:10:16is just like more biological family other than.
- 1:10:18Yeah, She could have been like, and then and I ran across like,
- 1:10:21instead of talking about private parts, she could have been like,
- 1:10:25I found this sweet little boy on the side of the road and I said
- 1:10:28he just needs someone to help him do his lessons.
- 1:10:30And yeah, yeah, I think that would have probably benefited
- 1:10:33for sure. But I, you know, like if it
- 1:10:38didn't, I'm not going to pretend like this one's going to be good
- 1:10:42for everybody. I think this one is a I can see
- 1:10:46why it would be divisive. Yeah, like I can see it.
- 1:10:50I still think it it's a lot more fun than I think it gets credit
- 1:10:53for. Yeah, I agree.
- 1:10:54And like I, like I said before, I mean it hits the things that I
- 1:10:58like about the series. Yeah.
- 1:11:00And if you like other aspects of like the first one or any of the
- 1:11:04other ones that came after, then you know, like other movies will
- 1:11:08do that one better. But this one, I thought it was
- 1:11:10good. Yeah, I get it though.
- 1:11:12I I totally understand. All right, now are we ready for
- 1:11:16some listener reviews? I believe we are.
- 1:11:18All right, so we will go over to Blue Ski first.
- 1:11:24Yay. First up, we have Jason, who
- 1:11:27says the story of Weatherface being forced to move across
- 1:11:31Texas and shuffled into his extended families complicated
- 1:11:34lives continue to unfold. The gore factor is definitely
- 1:11:37upped in Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3 and it feels like they were
- 1:11:40trying to keep up with other slashers of the time.
- 1:11:42It stays pretty intense throughout the Sorry's All rule
- 1:11:45and it's honestly just a really fun film.
- 1:11:47You know, that's accurate right there, and I'm glad that you got
- 1:11:50the extended family there. I guess it kind of does help if
- 1:11:53you know that. And here's the other thing too,
- 1:11:56is that like I think that's going to be more fun in my
- 1:12:00favorite, the one that I always just called the do your thing
- 1:12:03cuz one. Texas Chainsaw.
- 1:12:05Sure, that's. It that's.
- 1:12:07Those are the movies where I need to, I need the nicknames
- 1:12:10for them. And yeah, so I like, I think
- 1:12:13that's fun because the beginning is like, it's kind of a stand
- 1:12:16out. It feels very much like the
- 1:12:18beginning of Devil's Rejects where they have like the sand
- 1:12:21off at the house. Yeah, it is a lot like that.
- 1:12:24So I I like this idea of it is just an extended network of real
- 1:12:29bad people, whether they're biological or not.
- 1:12:31Yeah, yeah. It is fun though.
- 1:12:35I do like the gore in this I mean cuz if you watch the
- 1:12:37unrated cut you get to see it in all of its gory and they do a
- 1:12:40good job. You got Greggy Nix, man?
- 1:12:42Yeah, he's. Fucking good is Gregg fucking
- 1:12:44Nick Otero. He's.
- 1:12:44Good at his shit. Yeah.
- 1:12:48OK. All right.
- 1:12:49Next. One, yeah.
- 1:12:50We have Chad. Chad says.
- 1:12:54Texas Chainsaw Massacre Three. An absolute blast of a movie.
- 1:12:57It's the equal to Part 2 in my eyes, while being quite
- 1:13:00different in a number of ways. The film zips along at a fast
- 1:13:03pace. I agree with that.
- 1:13:04The pacing of this movie is really good.
- 1:13:06Yeah, while still letting us know all we need to do about the
- 1:13:10characters. Weather Face is written
- 1:13:11perfectly. The family is bizarre and also
- 1:13:13has the sweetest chainsaw I've ever seen.
- 1:13:16Also included or also included is the world's shittiest BMW and
- 1:13:22Ken for Ray, as Benny owns the movie for me.
- 1:13:25I'd forgotten how squeezy this movie is. 8 1/2 out of 10.
- 1:13:28All right. Hell yeah, man.
- 1:13:30And then, yeah, Kim Frey's one of the shining moments.
- 1:13:32I I'm kind of sad that he doesn't make a return.
- 1:13:35Yeah, it would have been cool to see them actually do a sequel to
- 1:13:37this one. Yeah.
- 1:13:38Like how how they had planned. I like how the opening of this
- 1:13:42kind of like fucks up a lot of what their plans end up being
- 1:13:45for future sequels. Yeah.
- 1:13:47I mean, obviously we'll talk about this next month when we
- 1:13:49talk about next generation because they do have to kind of
- 1:13:53wow. I'm proud of you.
- 1:13:54You knew that one. Yeah, that's the Matthew
- 1:13:56McConaughey one. Yeah.
- 1:13:58Bye babe, can't wait. Can't wait, yeah?
- 1:14:03All right, cool. I'm glad people like this one.
- 1:14:05Yeah, maybe this one's kind of having its turn where people are
- 1:14:08starting to. Really.
- 1:14:09Talk about loader face. Yeah, Hell yeah.
- 1:14:12All right, cool. That's it for the reviews for
- 1:14:14this one. Thanks everybody for sending
- 1:14:16those in. All right, so that's it for
- 1:14:19April. We're moving into next month,
- 1:14:21which is an theme month. It's promised.
- 1:14:24Prom month everybody get your prom dates ready.

- 1:14:36going to be Prom Night 3. I'm glad you said that because I
- 1:14:38was going to pick that if it had to come down to that.

- 1:14:43Prom net three, that'll be the first one I'm not going to look
- 1:14:45up. Birdies.
- 1:14:45I got this already found it. It's on YouTube.
- 1:14:48You can't stream it anywhere. It's one of those ones that you
- 1:14:50can't find. OK.
- 1:14:51It's like the release for it was really fucked up and it's just
- 1:14:55really hard to obtain, but somebody uploaded it in full and
- 1:14:59it's the unrated version and it's a good like a really good
- 1:15:01scan. So if you need a link, ask me,
- 1:15:04I'll send it to you. Or you can just go to YouTube
- 1:15:06and type it in. You'll probably find it pretty
- 1:15:08easily. And this one, it is a
- 1:15:11continuation of the second one. Right.
- 1:15:13It's a sequel to Part 2, yeah. All right, so where is that
- 1:15:17Nostrom? Hell yeah, Yeah.
- 1:15:19And we've never seen this one. Yeah.
- 1:15:20So this will be your first watch Pretty.
- 1:15:22Excited for it. I remember we like read the
- 1:15:23descriptions for the like future ideas that they had for the prom
